My kids are older than 21, we had a ton of fun playing old video games and drinking beer. Great atmosphere

This place was fun! Good selection of brews and snacks, the games are a nice grow back: PacMan, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Daytona 500.

A Low key game-filled atmosphere

By Gina C |

My friends and I visited barcade last week. Some of them were apprehensive and thought it would be too nerdy or not their thing. We all loved it though! At one quarter for a game, we were able to play a bunch of games and feel like kids, except that we were drinking delicious beer while doing so! All games have a shelf for your drink so you can have free hands to play. Definitely check this place out. It could be a really cute date night place or even great just for friends.

Oh what a find

By Hannah V |

What a find. Probably one of the coolest bars I have ever been too. We were in Philly for the day on our NYC trip and I found this bar on an article by the Telegraph. A bar with arcade games?! Yes please. The bar is pretty dark so that you can see the screens but who cares, we weren't there to sit in the beer garden. Happy hours gives you pints of beer, ale or cider for $3-$4 and there's a quarter machine where you can change up dollars for the games. You have everything from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Street Fighter to Mrs PacMan to Moonwalker. Take your pick.

Good beer. Fun place.

By Anne S |

The Barcade is located just a short walk from the Fillmore. It is exactly what it suggests- a bar with a good selection of classic video games. There is also a small outdoor seating area. The food was not fancy, but it does the job. The beer selection is where it is at. The bartenders are helpful and courteous.

Fun If You Can Get Here

By GramCPA |

I took an Uber over to what felt like NJ to have drinks and play games at Barcade. This place was really fun... games were cheap, their craft beer list was incredible, and the prices were decent. I went on a Fri night and it was busy but not too crowded. The patrons were jumping in together to play with/against each other and I thought that was great. Just consider how you're getting over here from more touristy areas... Uber might be your only method and plan on surge pricing at the end of the night.

What's better?! Their beer? Or their arcade?

By Brad M. |

This place is a great combination of excellent beer, arcade and service. If you're into beer and old-school video games this is a place you should hit up. It's a fun time out with friends.

Beer and Mrs. Pacman!

By BillLovesBeer |

Unless you are familiar with this part of the city, don't think to find it without having good GPS--lots of construction and closures. A nice variety of craft beers--many local some rare. The Cubano Sandwich was great. A great concep. I've been to the one in Brooklyn, which seemed a bit better maintained, but the service was friendly and beer and food good!

3.5 stars

By A H |

The idea for this place was really great: a bar with old school arcade games, playable at old school prices (yes, 25 cents). However, the execution is somewhat off. Every time I go, at least a few games are out of order. Also, the later you show up, the more crowded it is, so you may wait quite a while before getting a turn at a game. I Agree with the other reviewers that its a hipster scene, but it's very chill nonetheless. Drink prices and selection are average. Food's not so great. Go for the games and beer; eat elsewhere.

Great idea for bar hangout

Good time and atmosphere but small space for the amount of people. Beer choice wasn't what I expected.

Old school arcade games with great beers

By John S |

A great stop for an evening of drinking and arcade games. The classic games from your childhood are around and they had fantastic microbrews from around the country on tap. Fantastic décor inside. Be prepared to drop quite a few quarters on the games during your time there because the games are addicting as ever. Classic TMNT was my favorite

Fun little place to while away a few hours

By spinal77 |

24 beers on top and a cider. I had the cider and it was excellently balanced, not too sweet and not too dry. I was here on a monday night so it was kind of dead, but the bartender was nice enough and the clientele not too rowdy. I had come here for some post dinner entertainment (Fette Sau is right down the street) and was well rewarded with a decent selection of old school video coin-op machines to play. Rampage, TMNT, Outrun, Pac-Man, Frogger, Tapper (NOT root beer tapper as Wreck-it Realph would have you believe) were just some of the ones I played there. Best of all, they're still just 25 cents! It was a nice relaxing end to a day and the drinks were decently priced. If you're an old school video game fan like I am, its worth at least one visit!

Fun night!

By Sandy F |

My husband and I drove our daughter and her friends to a concert at the Filmore and decided to check out Barcade while we waited for them. What a great find! Lots of great beer on tap, Monday night is $1 taco night and it's loaded with nostalgic arcade games! There's other snacky bar food. We were excited about the $1 tacos! We had a great time reliving our youth playing pac-man, ms.Pac-man, millipedes, and galaga! Just to name a few! We even played some pinball! There was also an outdoor seating area..a little beer garden. It was a really fun way to spend a summer night...waiting for the concert to end! A few beers, a few tacos and some arcade fun! Come down to find your favorite nostalgic arcade game and try some great beers!

My group of friends' weekly hangout

By ligonnp |

I moved to Philadelphia this past August and have made it a point to come to Barcade after work on every Monday I can. The atmosphere is great, the bartender is friendly and offers suggestions. The arcade games are great; despite gaining an addiction for Galaga.

Great for a night out

By Leah K |

Visiting this place made me very jealous that we don't have something like this in DC. It's such a simple concept. A bar with loads of old school video games- everything from pac man, Tetris and other such classics to a racing game and shooting games with real huge old school guns- something for everyone. More than that they have potato chips by the bag and bar snacks. It's simple, it's easy. If I lived nearer I'd be a regular. To me it's the best kind of neighborhood bar.

Nostalgia at its finest!!!

By This Traventurous Life |

What a great place to help you feel like a teenager all over again. It was a very busy place so sometimes hard to play a game you wanted but the drinks were good, service was good considering the volume of people in the bar. We had a such a great time!!

no other place like it

By lekerm |

they have a rotating selection of craft beer about 24 different taps and great bar food and original video games for a quarter what more could you want, get there early,

its ok

By Shin-Ho S |

I liked the games the drinks were a little much and the clientele was alright probably won't be back until beer week

Great drinks, food, and games

By Kyle H |

Came in with a group of guys and enjoyed the wide selection of beers! The food was great we had the quesadillas with chicken and the nachos also with chicken they had a good heat to them! The bar also had some of my favorite arcade games like X-men, PAC man, Daytona USA, and a ton of others!

Fun old school games and good beer selection

By Deefrompa |

My husband and I have been to Barcade several times with friends and always have a blast. They always have about 20 beers on tap, and they're regularly switching them up. The old school arcade games are super fun - there are about 50 to choose from. During the day it's generally not crowded at all so you have your pick of games. I'd highly recommend a trip there - plus Johnny Brenda's, Fette Sau, and Frankford Hall are just down the road - about a 2 minute walk away.

Cool bar,full of hipsters

By hahailockeduup |

This is a fun bar with old school arcade machines, its a hipster bar..go buy a fake beard and glue it on so you look the part,oh and buy a flannel..nice crowd tho, never any problems

Great low key place for games and drinks!

By Stacy V |

Loved visiting Barcade for my birthday. Had all the classic games we loved from childhood. Plus Lots of drink choices. That makes for a great time. Will go again when visiting Philly.

A good place all around

By KellyD |

Me and a friend went here on a Friday night in the Fall. We got here about 7:30. We got a table and were greeted by a waiter. He took our drink orders and then came back for our food order. I got a pumpkin beer which I didn't like I forget what my friend got. He seemed to like it. We both got the chicken panini. The chicken was cooked well not rubbery, and it was presented nicely. He was helpful, and came back around once to see how we were doing which is nice for a Fairly crowded bar. Then we played some games the wait time wasn't too long. Another plus is that they have plenty of bathrooms. It was a fun night overall. I'd go back again.

Throwback gamer style!

By Adrian S |

Rewind 30 years and here you are! Philly beers and ciders on tap and reasonable! You even put quarters in to play the arcade games! Definitely making a return trip when back in Philly!

A place to eat after 9PM

By jfdunphy1 |

Decent hamburger and fries. Good variety of craft beers to choose from. Long bar, TV for sports. Seemed like mostly couples there. Local kitchens seem to close at 9PM, so locals directed us to place that was open. Arcade game theme, but not many playing at the time I went. Security guard on duty, not obvious why, as well behaved clients did not seem security risk types.

Very Fun Experience

By TYPSUKR |

This blends your youth with your adult life. As the name suggests, this is a combination of a bar and an arcade. The drinks are reasonably priced, but the real draw is the assortment of 1990's-vintage (and older!) coin-operated arcade games. These range from car racing to sports to adventure games, really something for everyone. Bring $1 or $5 bills for use at the change machine, and relive your old days of playing arcade games after school. No food on the menu, save for bagged chips and such. Just drinking and arcade games.

Unique setting, good times

By Dana S |

There are old school games lining the perimeter, it brought you back to your childhood days... only you were drinking beer. It was an interesting experience, as people from the group would get up every so often to play a game. Didn't take too long to get a drink at the bar, it was a little crowded but not too bad. Prices were reasonable. I had a good time, I'd definitely go back.

Coolest place ever!!!

By Ceames11 |

If you like to have fun, this is the place for you! This bar is full of old arcade games - everything you can think of from Ms. Pac Man to Donkey Kong to NBA Jam, and on and on and on. My husband and I had to pull ourselves away so that we could enjoy the rest of Philly. We might have spent our entire weekend in there! The bar doesn't rest on the games alone, though. They have a fantastic beer menu and great service. We had a great afternoon there, and I hope to be back someday.

Very fun!

By Dr. Afia |

I took my friend here as part of a birthday scavenger hunt. We had lots of fun. It was very busy early Saturday evening around 4 when we went. We still managed to find seats at the bar and ordered a couple of beers and the guacamole (which was incredibly bland—I don’t recommend it). It was really easy to change money for tokens using the machine near the door. I put in $10 and ended up not using all of the tokens in the next hour and a half so we will be back. That was a great selection of classic games to choose from including streetfighter, Mortal Kombat, Mrs. Pac-Man, donkey Kong, and pinball. It was really helpful that there are spaces next to each game for you to sit your beer. We had a great time and will definitely be back again. Cheers!

Booze and vintage video games!

By SBobcat |

Finally got down here, its pretty much what you would expect a bar with an interesting selection of video games. All the games are a quarter a play, which I nice because I remember a few of these games were definitely more than a quarter when I played them as a kid. You will likely find a game that you want to play. And either they turned up the difficulty a bit, or my skills have definitely fallen off. I am guessing the latter. A good selection of beers and whiskeys. A fun time out with friends

Fits in like a Tetris piece

By Rachel N |

This little gem was hidden off Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia. Not the best area of town if you turn the wrong corner but this little bar is worth traveling there for. Lots of fun video games good craft beers and just a good crowd overall. If you're in town stop here and then pizza brain for some food after!

The Greatest Place on Earth (for only a quarter!)

By lindsayvanosten |

I had been hearing a lot about this place and was finally able to check it out a few weeks ago. It's absolutely a Fishtown gem! The location is fantastic, right between the Barbary, Johnny Brendas, and Frankford Hall. The building is even cooler once you get inside. They have a great draft list that changes daily and they have great brewery events. Where else can you play old school quarter machines that are still actually a quarter, while drinking craft beer? Great pre-game to dancing at Barbary or just a place to chill after a long day. So happy to have it in Philly!

Super fun!

By Hgtravl |

Such a cool barcade located inside a historic old industrial space in Fishtown! They really embraced the vibe here & went with it! Not the largest barcade we’ve been too however they have a nice curated selection of vintage games & famous classics. Just need a 21+ ID to enter & you can change your cash bills into tickets. Games cost 2 tokens per which is 50 cents. We came on a Sunday night & it wasn’t packed. Just a Very chill & cool vibe. Everyone was just enjoying drinks while playing games. Nice bar selection of drafts & cocktails. Didn’t try the food. We spent about 2 hours enjoying ourselves.

Best happy hour in the city

By nuzzmania |

I've been frequenting barcade for several months now and I must admit tht it was mostly for the craft beer nd 80's video games(only 25 cents) What I didn't know was how good the food is aand what a bargain! All happy hour drafts are dicounted and all appetizers are half off! I had a huge hummus plate, chorizo quesadilla, a shot of jim bean(on friday $2) and a craft beer for $11! The service is friendly and excellent and the cheese plate is better than any steven starr place or amada! Check it out your next time in the city! Great value, greay food, great service, and great video games! They have plenty of seating and a real cool place to have a Birthday party

Check this out

By SFC_Swede |

Went there on a whim last night and was happy to have found this gem of an establishment! The decor was really cool, food excellent (I had the Cuban sandwich and my date had the grilled cheese and said it was awesome too), and the selection of craft beers on tap numerous. And then you have the throw back games from the 80s to play as well. I enjoyed the music being played which was a mixture of rock and metal. So glad it was warm enough to step out on to their courtyard/deck and enjoy the night air and converse with my date as well. If your near this bar, I encourage you to give them a chance.

Husband LOVED it!

By AllisonJessicaRabbit |

My husband had such a good time. Reliving his childhood through all the awesome vintage games they had. Defiantly a stop if you are in the area. They have a change machine and the games range from 25-50 cents!!!! So grab a friend, a ice cold beer and go back in time! Side note: We didn't try the food. I saw the guy in the kitchen and he had long hair and a long beard with no hair net or anything.. Didn't really want to eat anything there. Kind of gross. Would have given it 5 stars if I didn't see that. And the bathrooms were a hot mess and dirty.

Nostalgia!!

By Lorena A |

Great selection of ganesa including Metal Slug, Contra, Street Fighter, Bubble Bobble, among others. The selection of beers and ciders on tap is on point, and it's not expensive. The place is 21+, so the environment is better than Dave & Buster's already. It was a great place to go on a date!

Good experience overall

By Julie K |

Fun place with good craft beers and I love visiting with friends from out of town.. bartenders can be pretty pretentious at times but you can let it go and enjoy yourselves overall. Good for a group outing, date or to show people around Philly and fishtown.

Excellent Date Night

By Jmac |

You just cannot go wrong with a night out drinking and playing vintage arcade games. For the Wreck-it Ralph fans out there, they have a Tapper's game, as well as the best pinball machine ever made (Iron Maiden), six player XMen, Ms. Pac-Man, TMNT 4-player, 4 player Pac-Man head-to-head and a whole lot more. You will find something to play no matter who you are (everyone can at least play Tetris!). We spent a couple of hours here and had a blast! Great place for a date, a night with friends or even a solo night out.

Barcade - excellent Philly bar

By Nina V King DuPont |

We went to the Barcade with some friends on a recent trip to Philly. I'm from Atlanta and this arcade bar is much better than the one we have in Atlanta - joystick. The bar tender was nice and the drink choices were creative. I had the summer take on an old fashioned and the rest of my group imbibed various craft beers. The bar and the arcade area is spacious - something that the Atlanta barcade - joystick - lacks. In addition there are a ton of game machines so there are a lot of play options. I would definitely return to the barcade in Philly.

My Boyfriends 30th birthday

By Jessie A |

So much fun!!! Excellent food! Cool vintage games that are ONLY 1 quarter to play! Get there early (8pm-ish) to get a table. Great prices on food and tons of craft beer to choose from!

Fantastic place to while away a few hours

By DanHanLan |

While it’s not quite on the well beaten path of hot spots in Philly, Barcade is well worth a visit if you’re fond of 1980’s arcade games. If you’re also a fan of craft beers then you may never want to leave! While it’s doesn’t look like much from the outside, I actually drove right past the place the first time I tried to find it, you’ll find about 30 different arcade cabinet games inside the bar. We don’t live terribly close so we only make it down about once every 3-4 months but they seem to have a stable of classic favourites with a handful of new machines every visit or two. All the games cost $0.25 cents and the games are usually in very good repair. I had an issue with a machine on my very first visit but happened to be down there 2-3 weeks later and it had been fixed. Unlike a few other arcade-themed bars I’ve been to, pretty much every machine has ledges built on both sides where you can place your drink which, while not rocket science, is terribly handy. In addition to the games they have a decent selection of craft beers on tap as well. They have around 20 taps with representation from breweries throughout the US. Additionally, they occasionally have breweries come out for an event and that brewery seems to be strongly represented on the taps for the next few weeks. It’s a great opportunity to try some of their less-well-known beers. They have a fairly diverse selection that is a tad IPA heavy for my taste but it’s a really popular style. Regardless I have never had trouble finding something new and interesting to try. When we first went there we were not too impressed with the food selection but it has really come around. It’s a small pub faire menu with a selection of great sandwiches and some really fantastic sides – like Sriracha Deviled Eggs or picked veggies. The place can get really busy on Friday and Saturday nights so if you’re not a huge fan of crowds or you don’t want to wait in line to play Ms. PacMan then I’d suggest getting there before 6:00. All in all it’s a great time and a great place for a group to hang out on a weekend afternoon.

If you like the old video games, this is the place for you

By Beachlover046 |

Like the video game concept, and the craft beer selection but that's it! Bartender ( male with long beard) was horrible and miserable to deal with! Man, show some enthusiasm or go find another job....seemed like each time we ordered more beers he got less friendly. Food is garbage and the neighborhood is sketchy at best

Fun! Fun! Fun!

By mrdo43 |

Great beer selection and a large, fun arcade in the side room. Both video and pinball games here. Go!

Memory Lane

By David G |

Very very very cool place. Great atmosphere and there are tons of games scattered all through the place. Had a blast!

Cool plave

By Jessica P |

Cool vibe, just too crowded on Saturday night. I asked for a light beer but it was still pretty dark. The Mac and cheese was delicious and creamy.

Fun atmosphere

By bowtied |

I am not a beer connoisseur by any means, so it is difficult for me to order anything other than a blue moon. And i feel like the bartender doesnt make it helpful either. Other than that this place is pretty awesome if you like retro arcade games. They have an atm and a coin machine in order to get tokens for the games.

Fun times!

By jmrobleto |

The atmosphere was laid back and low key, the staff was friendly and the service was solid. The food was limited and a little expensive, but there was plenty to drink and everyone got a kick out of playing all the classic arcade games!

Hipster Heaven

By noreenj31 |

Yes, tons of hipsters, but I loved the concept. Had no problem finding a seat at the bar around 8pm on the day before Halloween. I'm old so I remembered playing a lot of the games in my youth. The bartenders were quick and the young woman bartender was very personable. My husband got two beers off the extensive list and was happy with them. I had a Stateside vodka on the rocks (low carb) and it was fine. We also got an order of nachos and a chicken quesadilla. I could see right into the kitchen from where we were sitting and it was spotless. The food was well made and tasty. The chef was quite methodical in his cooking, just churning out Mexican favorites one after another. I'd recommend it. I thought the prices were reasonable. Also, I was dressed as a cat and no one batted an eye.

fun and affordable

By Melissa T |

I came here with a group and we all had a good time. Parking is street parking but we were surprised that we had no trouble finding plenty of spaces, even on a Friday night. The games were fun and nostalgic, but expect a long wait to play popular games like TMNT. Bar service was quick and friendly, and there were servers regularly making the rounds to see if people at tables wanted food. I wasn't that impressed with the food and thought that it was a little pricey given the amount of food you received. Bottom line: come here for the games and a drink or two, but go somewhere else for the food.

A bit underwhelmed

By Matt S |

I went here expecting to pass by quite a bit of time with beer or two, and old-time coin-operated video games. Overall, I left a bit disappointed. The draft beer list was OK, but very expensive, at $10 a piece. The selection of games was just OK, most of which reminded me of second-tier games from when they were popular in the 80s, all of which seemed to be 2 tokens or more to play. Overall, I was hoping for more...but it was crowded, so seemed to be popular, and maybe my experience wasn't shared by everybody.

80's Baby Paridise!

By Erika B |

I love new technology but theres something about retro Arcade games that are so nostalgic and entertaining. I think its knowing Im better (or shouls be better) at it now than the big kids who used to spit on my puny scores. Ego aside, arcade games, ridiculously delicious and varied craft brews, bar food fit for the gods, and a cool laid back adults only enviroment make for the PERFECT date night! My husband is weary of going in to the city. This was the first spot i dragged him to for a date night, and he fell in love again..with the games. Its gentrified part of town, with plenty of places the spend out the day within a mile. Definitely worth the visit(s)!

Never again.

By cmh2116 |

Sure the games we're fun, and it's a different atmosphere which us totally cool. But their tacos were absolutely disgusting and their chicken quesadillas were burnt and hard as a rock! Oh if you don't like craft beer this is not the place for you....pretty sure that's all they serve. It was fun to play games, and have a fun girls not, but i was really upset that I spent 70$ bucks to get home to nasty food.....

Brings back a lot of memories!

By goodshink |

This was a fun bar with lots of old style 80's arcade games. All games are .25. This place brought back a lot of memories of my teenage years.

Frogger kicked my butt

By Quiche |

My frog kept dying because I’m so bad at video games. But even I had an amazing time. The rest of my family, who is good at games, loved it. My husband loved the old time games he hadn’t seen in years. The beer selection was great! We had a great afternoon!
