The dinner we enjoyed here on our weekend visit to Philadelphia was definitely the highlight meal of the 3 days. This is a hipster, pumping place, maybe even a little too busy on a Saturday night, but still very enjoyable. Sergio was our waiter, very knowledgeable and engaging on food, wine and Italy. He made some choice recommendations. The wine on offer is very extensive, hard to choose just a few! The flourless chocolate cake and the olive oil ice cream capped off what was a sensational evening.

So, I did not realize that this was the same Barcelona place I have been at in Stamford, Ct. It doesn't matter. The food, vibe, service was beyond our expectations. Let's see: we had a wide assortment of tapas. The Hangar steak stood out as well as other items. I'd like to point out that we were there on a Sat night without reservations. No worries. We waited a very short time at the bar and then the four of us were seated. Our server Marissa with interaction with Erin, Assistant Manager made us feel like we have been to this place many times when in fact this was our first visit. We cannot say enough about the service we received. Thank you Marissa and Erin. We liked the place so much, we ended up here again just for desserts and coffee. No worries and the place was packed. We were seated in a short time. We will be back again. And a shout out to Mike too. By the way, the chef was very accommodating. One in our group had some allergies. I forget if it was Marissa or Erin but the menu was taken to the chef. He highlighted which items this person could have based upon her allergies. Wow - thanks...

While on a Food Tour of Passyunk, our group stopped at Barcelona Wine Bar where they serve Tapas. We were seated and then provided with Jamon & Manchego Croquetas and Potato Tortilla. The Croquetas were very light and the garlic aioli sauce added to the flavor. The Potatos were very good too. This is a very busy place and after sampling their food I understand why. Try it for yourself.

While visiting friends in Philadelphia last week , I had the chance to dine at Barcelona Wine Bar in South Philly. What a pleasant surprise. The menu was tapas based and everything was delicious. The waitress even brought us a free vegetable tapas. The bread was so good that when we raved about it, she gave us two loaves to take home. For dessert we had the cheesecake which was delicious, but not too sweet. The whole experience was perfect; good food, great atmosphere, exceptional service.

I went with a group of friends and my one friend called to make the reservation earlier that day and spoke with someone on the phone and for some reason they didn’t have it when we arrived so we had to wait about 20 minutes. But after that, our waiter was very attentive, he worked to find out what was gluten free and crossed things off the menu I couldn’t have. We had the wine flights, I highly recommend.

We went to Barcelona for a bite to eat and some drinks. We got the charcuterie board, garlic shrimp, olives and cheesy potatoes. It’s all tapas so small plates and you can try many different things. ALL the food was so delicious! The service was EXCELLENT! The atmosphere was so friendly and comfortable. Felt like dinner at family’s home. They had the most awesome music mix on to boot. We will definitely be back. Thank you for an outstanding experience 😍

Welcome to the neighborhood! We enjoyed a delightful meal on opening night at this new restaurant. Upon arriving we were asked for our names and told to have a drink at the bar or hang around until they called us...we chose the bar. We were immediately approached by a smiling young man who gave us drink menus and answered some of our questions. I ordered the Sangria..tasty with bots of chopped apples floating on top but perhaps a little less ice next time. We waited about 20 minutes and then were taken to a table outside under a string of lights and tables filled with happy looking customers and a busy staff. There seemed to be as many staff as patrons. No one seemed to be lacking for anything. We were asked if we wanted bread...yes! It came out quickly and we ordered another round of drinks. Our waitress, Arianna, was amazing. She was helping train staff and definitely seemed in charge. We were left with the menu and took our time perusing the creative and unusual selection of tapas and apps. We began with the Croquettes. Fabulous! Jamon and a soft melted cheese crispy and light. A shot of sauce included under as a light dip. Next..the spinach and chickpea dip. Not my favorite..it was a bit bland but spinach and chickpeas ARE a bit bland. Maybe a little hot sauce ?.. Just my preference. We also ordered the asparagus which was perfect! As a special welcome we received a cheese plate with several different cuts of cheese and a bit of grapes. Wow was that a delightful surprise! I'm so glad we stopped in this fabulous restaurant on their opening night. I can't wait to work my way down the menu and the wine list. My last glass of wine, was the Benito San Blanc..highly recommend if you like dry white. I must say what impressed me the most was that you would never know it was opening night.. except for the obvious excitement in the air! The staff was absolutely on top of things. And so accommodating. Check out this beautiful new restaurant on Passyunk.. comfortable decor, pleasant staff, plenty of choices, prices on spot..you will not be disappointed! Thank you Barcelona..and Arianna.. and good luck!

Wonderful food, outstanding staff, delicious wine and a wonderful dining experience. We had ordered the brazini fish and enjoyed a variety of tapas, cheese and sausages, anchovies (yum) and wine flights. The Spanish olive oil and fresh bread was delicious too. The front of the house staff were terrific, caring, generous and treated us like friends/family. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant for the outstanding staff (in the kitchen and front of the house), delicious food, terrific wine selection, all coming together for a perfect dining experience. Thank you, Barcelona!

We picked up a large catering order from Barcelona for our wedding and the food was perfect! We had been to the restaurant many times and always had great meals so we were glad to find out they offered catering pickup too. The communication with Liz was always helpful and quick. They helped us ensure that the food was clearly labeled for a few different dietary restrictions and allergies. We got two different kinds of paella and lots of tapas. When my sister in law picked up the food the staff was efficient, friendly and clearly very invested in making sure the food was perfect for our occasion. Recommend highly for catering or for dinner in the restaurant!

This is a favorite of our Philadelphia daughter who lives in the neighborhood and introduced us to this great place (neighborhood residents get a 15% discount, so make sure you identify yourself as a local if you are indeed one!). The cocktail list is innovative, and the wine list (both by the glass and by the bottle) extensive and well priced. The tapas selection is excellent! We enjoyed whipped sheep's milk cheese, shrimp al aljillo (very spicy!), great shishito peppers, and WONDERFUL croquetas de jamon y manchego, among several other no less delightful choices. The manager dropped by several times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, and to explain some of the cocktails we were enjoying. The service was perfect--our servers were prompt, courteous, and checked in regularly; the plates were well paced throughout. This is a great spot--lively on a Friday night, with a wide age range represented. We dined inside at a great table; there is also sidewalk dining. We'll look forward to visiting again when next we're in Philadelphia.

We stopped in for a drink after dinner, place was very busy had to wait for barstools to open. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful in choosing wine. I did see some of the food come out and it looked amazing! Next time in town will have to try dinner. Just an FYI the place is noisy so if your looking for a quiet place this is not it! This place is fun for groups at a table or a couple at the bar-four of us hard to communicate.

My wife and I are from New Zealand and were visiting friends today in philly. They had read food things about Barcelona and wanted to go there. We had a great time and made even better by Karl our waiter who was helpful friendly and had a great accent. Wonderful food tapas style - try the chorizo or the bacon wrapped things - wonderful and with nice tap beer. Will return.

The Avenue's newest and most adventuresome restaurant/wine bar. Me and my wife who is a Spanish absolutely loved the experience we had here. The service was excellent, friendly and helpful. Their wine list extensive a tad overpriced but we were able to sample various wines till we found our perfect match. The food was small plates tapas style, which works well when you want to sample and share and is of highest quality and freshness. We had the Charcuterie + Cheese, the Serrano Ham and 2 cheese's which worked perfectly with our selected Agentinian Wine. the Wild Mushrooms, The Cauiflower, The Zucchini, The Smoked Pork Belly and The Chorizo with Sweet and Sour Figs, was the tapas we went with, more than enough food for 2 and a great atmosphere to relax and enjoy!

Order the lamb! And the octopus! And the empanadas ... just order everything. This place is amazing - the chourico and fig you could eat for dessert, but don't - get the cheesecake instead. But only after you eat your vegetables, I recommend the chickpeas and spinach and the butternut squash in maple syrup. Really a fun time, if you want a quiet meal, ask to sit outside, the bar can get a bit rowdy.

Small plates let you taste lots of interesting foods. My favorites were the potato tortilla and the Crudo (raw fish in a citric vinegar) - both were delicious. Large selection of wine by the half and full glass. Wait staff is knowledgeable Nd friendly. We had a 7:00 reservation on Saturday and had to wait a short time. It was really busy. Tip: Enjoy a cocktail at ITV (In The Valley) before Barcelona...short 2 minute walk between the two. Lady bartenders made very tasty cocktails.

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. It is definitely worth the ride out of downtown. We had the best service I think we have ever had at a restaurant. We had 2 waiters serving our table, plus I think the owner and the manager checked in on us too. The staff was so cheerful and helpful. You could see that it is a fun place to work, that they all get along and like their job. Very refreshing. The food was absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to go back! I hope that you have as great of an experience as we did.

five of us had a terrific meal last monday at barcelona....tapas was tasty and creative...half price bottles of wine were nice and the service was attentive and well paced....terrific octopus was most memorable but nothing disappointed

How do you celebrate a birthday during the pandemic? With Barcelona wine bar! It’s January 3, cold, rainy and sitting outside is not optimal but there is no other option. The covered area and heaters made it comfortable but your team made it special. We are so happy you are a neighborhood staple! As always the food was impeccable but the service on this particular evening was outstanding. I can’t imagine how difficult it is to work during this time but thank you for making our night so amazing 💕

Since we were already in South Philly, we decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early and we couldn't have chosen a better place. We were drawn by the Oscar Wilde quote and decor outside and, once we got inside, immediately liked the vibrant atmosphere. Our waitress, Evie, was wonderful, drinks were perfect and the food was absolutely amazing. The lovely Daniela stopped by to drop off our drinks and snapped a pic for us and even the manager, Michael, came by to see how we liked everything. Talk about great customer service. We can't recommend this restaurant highly enough...go there...you won't be sorry!

Overall a nice experience at a lively place. It is on the louder side, but that is part of the atmosphere. If you go and you like wine (they do have a nice list) ask that Abbey (responsible for the wine list) give you a hand. She helped us picked two great bottles for us. Nicely done! Thanks!

Had all sorts of stuff. I remember the paella, chorizo and figs, cauliflower, and steak. Excellent. The price adds up fast, but this happens at these places. Had the sangria, which wasn't the best, but wasn't bad. It was a great night. It does get noisy, but we could hear each other.

Visited on a recent Saturday night with a group of friends. Many in the group had been here on multiple occasions, this was the first visit for myself. The food and service was excellent, a true hidden gem for Philly! Our only complaint was it was way too loud inside! We know it seems to be trendy to have a loud restaurant but this was just over the top, I had to give up talking to the person next to me, she couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear her!

My sister and I decided on an impromptu visit to Barcelona this evening while strolling up Passyunk Avenue in search of a spot for dinner. We were promptly seated at an outside table, and were introduced to our server Allison, who greeted us with her upbeat personality and knowledge of the menu. We selected, based on her recommendations, 5 tapas items and two glasses of red wine. As our dinner drew to a close and night began to fall, Allison was removing plates from our table and overheard my sister offering me her jacket, as I was chilly. Minutes later, Allison returned to our table with a fuzzy blanket for me to wrap my shoulders and lap in while my sister and I finished our wine. This is service excellence at its finest. I work in the hospitality industry, and never before have I been treated with such personalized attention as I was by Allison this evening. She is an asset to the restaurant, and should be commended.

First visit to Barcelona- extremely loud & noisy, obviously a new hot spot in Philly. Food fairly good - hangar steak, mushrooms, rice were excellent - skip the zucchini and lamb was over cooked. Bread was excellent. Not great if you want to have a quiet dinner, but probably worth a second try.

Wife and I were so looking forward to dinner at this new Spanish tapas style restaurant on East Passyunk Ave. Upbeat atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating and a great bar. Had a drink and a couple small plates at the bar awaiting our table, all was good. We were then seated and ordered several small plates. Recognize it’s small plates and I mean small, but the time between servings was way too long. Crispy eggplant, which was neither crispy nor tasty, was followed 20 minutes later by butternut squash which was followed 20 minutes later by lamb chops, hanger steak and skate fish. The butternut squash and hanger steak were good, the lamb chops and skate fish were way too salty, we couldn’t fish them. To their credit, they did not charge us for our food only our wine which was a great recommendation by our waitress who was terrific. Has the feel and the taste of a franchise.

Three happy campers had an excellent meal last night at the latest entry into East Passyunk's thriving food scene. Barcelona Wine Bar, after only 3 weeks into their operation provided some very tasty food in a convivial and warm atmosphere. From our greeting to our departure we felt like welcome guests at this nicely restored space that features indoor and outdoor seating. Our server, Josh, was a delight, attentive, informative and was absolutely a great part of our overall experience. We shared 7 tapas and 2 desserts, and this was an ample amount of food for three light eaters. I would recommend 3 dishes per person as a good standard though for most. My favorites presentations were the mushrooms with egg, the red snapper crudo and a tuna & charred green bean salad. A flan with a scrumptious caramel sauce was the perfect ending to our dinner. Even though the room got quite crowded, the noise level seemed to be managed well. Conversation at our table was easy with no shouting or leaning in to hear others speak - a huge plus for me. There is a large bar area and I was happy to note that they serve 3 and 6 oz wine pours so you can adjust your selection as the meal unfolds. Figure with light/moderate alcohol consumption to spend about $40-45 per person including tax and tip. It's a difficult neighborhood for street parking, so allow some extra time, car pool if you can. or taxi/uber/lyft. This is going to be a popular spot, so I'd reserve for the weekends.

I have been here three times. The first time my husband and I said we went to food heaven. Service, wine, and tapas were all divine. We are vegetarian and they had a great selection of cheeses and vegetarian tapas. Delicious caponata, patata bravas, chick pea dish, and peppers. My husband got a great cheese cake for dessert. It is a lively and fun place. Second time we went was for his birthday and unfortunately the whole night was a mess. The table next to us also had the same issues. All the food was served at once. No time to even sip wine. The food was not as good as the first time. We were quite disappointed. The waiter seemed aloof and not interested. The manager was speaking with the unhappy table next to us and when they brought the cake (with candle) for my husband he just plopped it over my husband's head and walked away. The manager asked us how our meal was and we told him how we loved our first time and wanted to celebrate my husband's birthday here but the night was a let down all around. He graciously offered us another dinner on the house. We came back a few weeks later and we were treated very well. Service, food, and the entire experience was wonderful. The birthday was celebrated on a packed Friday night and we decided to come back on a Sunday. It was of course, less crowded. But all of the dishes we ordered were excellent. We plan to return when our daughter visits us. So, I do recommend this restaurant. And I guess the fourth time will be the real test!

I have had this place bookmarked in my mind since it opened and I finally made it with a group of friends. The space is bright and spacious as you enter. The wraparound bar is beautiful and I like the added touch of the greenery that is placed throughout the restaurant. I was excited to see the extensive wine list and the tapas menu. I started with the wine flight- I did the one white wine with two red wines. I preferred the two red wines - the white was not dry enough for my tastes. Our group was hungry and we like tasting everything, so we ordered almost everything on the menu: we had the hummus; pork belly; whipped sheep's cheese; braised short ribs; skate a la plancha; empanadas; crispy calamari and the spicy meatballs. For dessert we had the bread pudding - it had just the right consistency. Our waitstaff-Desiree and Dan were awesome and put up with all of our questions and orders - they were attentive and friendly - That made our experience a 4-star experience!

SIMPLY THE BEST! This restaurant stands head and shoulders above most.. Both in Philly and in Spain where I also have a home. The food was FANTASTIC.. beautifully presented.. Brilliant Cheffing.. Brilliant Bartenders. Excellent service. I can't wait to return. Happy Staff and a strive for excellence MAKES THIS PLACE!!! 100%

From when we walked in the door, until we left, the service was friendly, the atmosphere upbeat, and the food delicious.

We were looking for a bite to eat before the Tom Petty concert this summer and stumbled upon this gem. Great food, great drink, great staff.

Superb service, wine list, and tapas. Diverse, flavorful, reasonably priced choices. Strong bar and night life, too. Great place

This place is wonderful! The food is delicious and the service is excellent! We have been twice now and will definitely visit again.

Yet another amazing Philly up and coming hot spot. After eating and drinking here, I'm surprised it didn't have a higher rating. We had PLENTY of wine from Spain... being from Canada we have one token import, so it was a great to see and test so many different selections. Being a Sommelier, I appreciated the way the list was put together so kodo's to the beverage manager. We had many tapas... chorizo and dates, figs and proscutto, green beans, cheviche, calamari, meatballs, whipped sheep cheese, olive cake and like 11 different 3 oz pours of wine and our bill only came to 130.... start the car!!!!!! Service was amazing, great first date place for sure!!! #yum

Wanting to try some Spanish food, we decided to try Barcelona. The environment is very casual, but a bit noisy. The service was good especially for a new place. We had several attendants bring food and alcohol. We had the calamari, mushrooms, mussels, octopus, pork belly, potatos bravas, and potato tortilla. The most disappointing were the lamb chops. They were so small and over cooked. The best were the 4 croquets were crispy with a smoky ham and cheese inside. The figs and chorizo were also excellent. We could not order Seafood paella as we were told that it would take at least 45 minutes. So we shared the chicken pimenton which was moist and delicious. The wine list was very good, but the 6oz pours looked lite. It would be better if they brought the wine to the table and poured there. The dinner was good, but for the four of us it was $260 without tip. It can get expensive quick! We did have 2 drinks each and plenty of small tapas, but for $65 each I have had a lot better.

My husband and I happened upon the Barcelona Wine Bar, somewhat by accident. The restaurant we were looking for had already closed. It was a delightful find! The cheese and meat board to start was generous! And the flavors were wonderful. We tried a few of the tapas, as well. Every choice was great. We highly recommend the bacon-wrapped dates. The room was somewhat noisy, but this wasn’t a problem for us, because it made it easier to talk to each other without being overheard. The service was leisurely, but not slow, nor in attentive. We didn’t feel rushed, and we could order more of anything we wanted, at our own pace. We found this European style of dining perfect for what we were looking for. The fresh bread was warm, and crusty, just perfection!

This place is amazing. The energy that you feel when you walk in was electric. The building is gorgeous. Our server was so knowledgeable on the menu. I could not decide on a white wine. He gave me 3 samples to choice. Many suggestions for the menu. It is small plates. So be prepared to order and try different items. The meat and cheese boards were excellent. Definitely will be back!!!

I recently had dinner at Barcelona! I have to say, it was amazing. I loved all the tapas selections. I was with 2 people who had been there before so they knew some things to order. Our waitress was very helpful with making our selections. We wound up ordering 8 selections for the 3 of us and that was more than enough. Every single dish was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. There is a full bar, the Sangria is also very good. Because we arrived at 4:45 on a Monday night, we had no issues with parking or getting a table. It is so nice inside and a great little neighborhood gem. I highly recommend Barcelona and cannot wait to return.

Visited on a Sunday Brunch and we were all very impressed with the quality of their food considering this is a franchise restaurant. Their tapas are somehow better than this well known Spanish/Iberian restaurant in Center City. Starting of with their Charcuterie Board, the Manchego cheese is creamy and delicious with this apricot jam combined with the Jamon Serrano and Chorizo Picante. Although need some improvement with their presentation, the slices of meat should be spread out and not hastily placed on top. For a party of three, we grabbed 7 tapas. Hanger Steak is cooked medium rare, tender and flavorful. Pulgo is grilled well, soft and yummy with this aioli. Jamon & Manchego Croquetas has this crunchy shell and quite tasty. Albondigas (meatball) has this sauce and tasted similar to a regular Italian meatball. Gambas al Ajillo has this fresh shrimp and just enjoyable. Potato Tortilla is typical but full of flavor. The best tapa is their Boquerones, 5 soft sardines drenched with this lemony and olive oil sauce. For $6, well worth it! Presentation can be improved by laying the sardines next to each other diagonally ( i did that before taking a pciture). By now we were quite full, but we cannot miss their paella, so we got 1 order of Paella Mariscos. Filled with mussels, clams, squid and a big shrimp, laid out on top of this glorious bed of bomba rice. Very well cooked and definitely has this saffron taste and smell. Service staff is very helpful explaining the dish and guiding selecting the wine for some of the tapas. Manager stopped by to check on us, as well as the regular stop by our server. Parking can be tough at times, but they may be part of the valet system used by most restaurants in Passyunk during dinner. Overall, this is a great place to get Iberian Tapas...better than the acclaimed Spanish place in Old City.

My dad raved about this place, and when I was home for the holidays I suggested he show me what the fuss was about. The neighborhood is lively on a Saturday night, and although crowded we only had to wait about 10 minutes past our reservation time. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and provided recommendations for dishes and pairings that went well beyond reading the menu back to us - the perfect way to craft a great meal. Minus one round of drinks at the bar before we were seated, five of us wined and dined for a total check of less than $100. That alone is worth returning for.

We had the potatoes and empanadas and they were both delicious. The empanadas were very light and delicious.

The East Passyunk area is challenging Center City as the restaurant mecca of Philadelphia. This restaurant is one of the many highlights of the area. The menu contains a large variety of items -- charcuterie, tapas and large entrees and of cours a large wine selection. There is a nice outdoor area but we decided to go indoors which is spacious, clean and well designed. We had the 3 items from the charcuterie, 4 tapas and half seafood paella. Everything was excellent and the service was also very good.

My first impression was that the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, greeted me with a smile and even offered great recommendations for wine and tapas. We had the potato tortilla, bacon wrapped dates, croquettes & whipped sheeps milk with honey and pistachios (my favorite). Everything was fabulous and the environment was lively and enjoyable. Can’t wait to come again.

This restaurant has excellent tapas and a good wine list. The plates are interesting and delicious. They have a number of plates that are vegetarian and can be made vegan. We had the potatoes brava, spicy eggplant caponata, cauliflower and beets. We highly recommend all of them. It is hard to believe it is a chain. It is located on the E. Passyunk restaurant row and fits right in. The restaurant has a fairly large outdoor seating area.

I lived close to the Boston location and told the visiting manager, Andrew, how much I missed a dish that is seasonal there: the squid ink fideos, a delicious seafood paella with burnt fideos mixed with a delicious creamy garlic aioli. My intention was just to have it added to the menu at Passyunk too so I could come back and order it, but Andrew pulled it off for the chef to make it! 😱 I was such a happy camper!! This was beyond nice! What a nice welcome to Philadelphia. Marcus, our waiter was also super nice. We will come back to this place over and over!

To the south philadelphia, you will find this Spanish place, very nice and modern. Entering you immediately notice the large central counter surrounded by stools, on which you can have an aperitif or meal. All around also several tables and, behind the counter, you can glimpse the kitchen, all in open space. There is also an outdoor space. There were 2 of us and we took, as appetizers, meatballs with sauce and Catalan potatoes (fries accompanied by spicy sauce) and followed by gray chicken with potatoes. The products were of excellent quality and the bill average. We spent about $45 plus tip. Also good choice of wines. Closes at 11 p.m. Recommended!

I've been back to this Passyunk Avenue eatery a few times since they opened and the food is still as good as the first day I dined there. And because the food is tasty, the popularity of the restaurant has soared. The more guests, the more noise. Certain areas of the restaurant are quieter than others so if you need a quieter spot, let them know when you're making a reservation. We always order a charcuterie platter to start, followed by about 2-3 tapas per person. We loved the beet salad, tuna tartare, truffle bikini (an upscale version of a grilled cheese & ham sandwich) the beef empanadas, dates wrapped in bacon and asparagus in a slightly spicy romesco sauce and a tasty watermelon gazpacho. For dessert we shared an excellent Burnt Basque Cheescake and a generous portion of raspberry sorbet. Our meal for five with 4 beers and 5 cocktails came out to approximately $60 per person. Service is warm and welcoming though sometimes, especially on a busy weekend night a bit haphazard. But it's due to the crowds, rather than a lack of concern by the wait staff. They really do seem to be making enormous efforts on behalf of their customers. Last note, parking here on the weekend takes some patience. There's no lot nearby, so you're seeking out street parking which can be time consuming. Try to carpool, walk, Lyft or taxi to Passyunk Avenue. There are 30+ restaurants in just a few blocks & they're pretty much all packed on Friday & Saturday nights. After your dinner head north to the Singing Fountain and hang out & do some people watching with the neighbors.

Great tapas, excellent selection of wine. The place is very nice with great ambiance and service was good.

Okay had 7:15pm reservations got there 10min early but had a worse problem then I thought finding parking. Called told them finally parked at the Acme down the road. Then they were packed so after we finally got in took another 45min for a table sucked but actually not bad an my fault should've arrived earlier. But after that food was really good server knew his food and wine between two of us we had 8 tapas only one we thought was a little too spicy but other 7 were home runs. The atmosphere is really nice and looking forward to going back in the summer to sit outside perfect location for it.

Barcelona is a noisy, raucous Tapas experience - with good food if you know what to order. We didn't! The menu is basically split into three sections. The top is cheeses and charcuterie (meats). The middle section comprise the Tapas, and the bottom section cover the entrees and paellas. If you only read this far, and no further --> Don't order the paella and/or entrees - they are terrible. But let's start with the good stuff. Service was absolutely awesome!! We ate on a Saturday evening, part of 8, middle of a massive thunderstorm. The meats and cheeses were superb. A nice selection of soft and hard cheeses, with toast and bread, plus various hams, chorizo and salami. Awesome. Followed by a nice selection f tapas. I'd recommend the chorizo sausage (but not in fig sauce), bacon wrapped dates, meatballs, brussel sprouts .. almost everything was good. Combine that with some awesome cocktails, such as the Gin and Tonic - life was looking good. Then came the disappointment. Pork and swordfish entrees - both overcooked and practically indistinguishable from each other. And the paella - we tried a veggie version and a seafood version. No-one liked them. they had a strange taste and like most of the food, were very much over salted. We wanted to give some feedback to the manager, but alas when he came by, and over-enthusiastic and well-lubricated member of our table said "it was all wonderful: and he moved on. Our fault on that. Bottom line - we all woke up the next morning feeling we'd swallowed half a salt shaker and that we'd ended the evening on a big downer. Would I go back ? well, yes - but only for appetizers and won't even look at the bottom part of the menu.

Friday night visit... the place was hoppin. Drinks at busy bar. Staff friendly, drinks very good. Thought it would have more of a focus on wine. Staff was very accommodating changing our rsvp from 4pp to 5pp. Wait staff was a little slow but friendly. Despite enjoying it, Paella was over cooked and too salty. Beef tapa and calamari was very good. To die for is the truffle grilled cheese.... can’t explain.... tastes like heaven. Dessert was peach bread pudding that was a perfect finish. Will go back. Note that we were in the corner and it was still a bit noisy!

the atmosphere is energizing. The restaurant is lovely and the food is perfect. The wine is superb and you have lots of choices

Great new place worth a visit. Food was great including the service. Highly recommend if you are in area. Grab a drink doe appetizers a sit outside and people watch.

What a place! We had such a great time. The food was excellent and the service great. The wine recommendation was pretty good. We loved our server Gabriela and her assistants. The food was succulent and perfectly cooked. For example, the mussels were tender and the octopus was not mushy or hard. The champignons were garlicky and buttery but not chewy.l and the tomato bread was on point. We specially liked the patatas bravas and the acorn squash! We did not like the Catalunean flan but that might be a preference issue. Overall it was a great dinner.

My husband and I were walk ins here on Saturday night for dinner. What a fabulous experience we had! The setting is really cool. The bar is gorgeous. Seating was extremely comfortable. The wine and tapas were spectacular. Their service is amazing. I would imagine it would be tricky to continually bring out multiple plates as people keep ordering throughout their time there, but they had plenty of runners because stuff seemed to have been coming out the second it was ready. We really never waited for anything. Our server was knowledgeable and helped us select things. At least two different managers stopped by the table to make sure that everything was great. I have a lot more wines to try here and am so looking forward to returning here.

As a South Philly native who recently moved out of state, my favorite part of coming home is checking out new restaurants with my mom. We finally made it to Barcelona after stalking it on Instagram for weeks and absolutely loved it! The manager, Michael, greeted us with a smile and handshake as soon as we walked in. Our server, Ally, and really all the staff we came in contact with couldn't have been nicer. As for the food, we split 7 dishes and each one was better then the next. Our personal faves were the potato tortilla (sort of like a quiche), corn, broccolini, empanadas and croquettas (ham and cheese). Goes without saying the wine selection is amazing - hoping they add a white wine flight! Can't wait to return!

We dined as a group of five (5) with a wide range of tastes and a few people who could not eat specific items for whatever their reason. The wait-staff made themselves aware of any concerns and were truly helpful, offering to mark up the menu for the group's vegetarian. Drinks arrived in time to continue reading the menu which was a plus as the sheer size of the menu (11x17) seemed to correlate to the quantity and variety of tapas and larger dish options. The table ordered pitchers of both the red and white sangria. Very refreshing and made sure we didn't need the wait-staff to be running drinks all evening, only tapas. We dined inside and the atmosphere was very pleasant with an open airy feel. Only complaint would be the music volume. We found ourselves speaking loudly to be heard across the table over a few of the more aggressive beats. The food was wonderful!! (I know, way to bury the lede) From the perfect basics like bread/oil/olives to rich peppery sauces, everything was cooked to perfection. Of particular note for me were the octopus and the tuna crudo. The table rounded out the tapas meal (all of which were raved about by someone in our group) with two of the desserts, some sparking kava, and coffee. Everything we consumed was excellent. Nothing to waste at all.

Very very busy place filled with young people on a Saturday night (40 and below, we’re mid 70s🤪). Nevertheless, the service and organization were superb!! Best service with a smile that I’ve experienced in a long time. Food was very good: loved the meatballs, Brussels, croquettes, shisitos, and the FLAN!! Great sangria to start. Fun time!!

What a phenomenal restaurant with quality food, great atmosphere, and very supportive staff. We were visiting for the holiday weekend and found the venue highly recommended by TripAdvisor folks. The small plates and appetizers were special. Wine selection was absolutely top-notch withbmanyvselections from around the world. We’re highly recommend for those who are interested in getting a view of the many different food facets of Philadelphia.

Travelled to Philadelphia with my brother for a long weekend to watch the Phillies v Jays baseball games. Found Barcelona on our second night and visited every night thereafter! The choice and quality of the food is fantastic, we recommend the Whipped Sheep’s Cheese, Ham and Cheese Croquettes, Hummus and Gambas tapas dishes but trust me we tried other tapas dishes here and they are all fantastic! Barcelona also has a great range of Spanish wines which they showed a real passion and knowledge for! Huge thanks to Keira, Dana and special thanks to Kenny the manager, all of whom looked after us throughout our whole stay and hope to visit them again!

We chose this newly opened restaurant, because they offer paella. Unfortunately, the dishes were somewhat skimpy both on the seafood and the rice. On the plus side, the management changed our table so as not to be next to several noisy toddlers, the waitress was especially accommodating, and the appetizers of cheese and salad were good.

If you are here on business or from out of town you will never have a bad menu or experience! This place is one of the best restaurants on Passyunk !!

This place is consistently good. The food is fresh, abundant and attractively arranged and the Bloody Mary bar is simply outstanding. For this visit, we went for brunch and got the Bloody Mary bar. A trick I use to extend my drink is to pour a little of the alcohol into a water glass so I can go up for seconds without being charged. I was able to fill my glass with sardines, olives, and even serrano ham--in addition to carrots and celery. Who needs food when you can drink it? It's got to be the most impressive homage to the Bloody Mary I have ever seen. As for food, my husband likes sweet while I like salty so he got the French toast torrija and I got the shrimp with garlic. Both were wins for us. The service was right on where the server came when needed otherwise she didn't bother us. Another great visit and I know we will be back.

We were supposed to have been in Nashville on our way home from a Caribbean vacation when we found our way to this restaurant at 10:30 pm on a Wednesday night after a long day of travel and a cancelled connecting flight home. The food was delicious and we savored every morsel. But the best part was how kind the manager was. After hearing our story, he removed all the charges from our bill except beer. It was an unexpected bright spot in an otherwise chaotic day! I don’t know if we’ve ever been treated so well by any restaurant before.

Last Sunday we met friends at the Barcelona Wine Bar and Restaurant. While you could eat a regular dinner, we opted for tapas selections and wine tasting. Barcelona offers a three ounce glass of wine as well as a regular five or six ounce glass or a full bottle. We were able to taste several wines each; all of them none of us had ever tasted before. Some were better than others but all were good. The mushroom dish was very good as were the selections of cheeses we ordered. Complementary bread was served to provide substance and help cleanse the palette. We enjoyed our selves but we have criticisms: One the tables are too small to allow four people to dine easily Once I bumped over a glass of wine. Second, the facility as so many newer restaurants easily conveys noise. So it is hard to carry on a conversation unless you are young and used to shouting. Lastly, we had trouble flagging a waiter even though three were standing within ten feet of our table. Nevertheless, we would go again since the tapas selections were tasty and the wines were excellent.

Great tapas bar! Sat in the outdoor patio. Great service and amazing food! The deviled eggs were full of flavor. The whipped sheep's cheese was amazing with toast points. My favorites were the Calamari and Churros!

You would never believe that this place opened up in July (2017) because of how packed it is inside! I went for the second time this past week and fell in love with every.damn.thing! Between the service, the food (both the taste AND presentation), and the wine/cocktails, I was blown away and have officially found my new spot. They are pretty smart in the sense that they don't reserve the whole restaurant for reservations, so you have the option to walk in and wait anywhere from a couple minutes to an hour, depending on the date/time frame. Don't let the long wait fool you, as there is plenty of room to wait by the bar and order drinks to make the time pass by. Note: If you fill out the survey at the end, they will give you a complimentary drink "token" to bring back at your convenience. It is located on Passyunk's restaurant row, so you'll have plenty of places to hop to before/afterwards. Yes, they have an outdoor patio. Yes, they are decently priced. Yes, you have to experience it for yourself. Yes, it is big party friendly.

We were regulars at the Greenwich location until the fire took it from us. It's great that it's finally in Philly and did not disappoint! Food and service was excellent and on point! Can't wait to return here! John and Randi were such great people and made our visit so special! Try all the tapas especially the specials -its amazing!! Now if only we can get DJ...😉

Last-minute stay in Philadelphia due to a canceled flight. This place is a must. The owner of the Airbnb recommended this place and will be going back once in the city again.

We were celebrating my friend’s retirement. We had a group of 11 people. We did not make a reservation and then we very accommodating to us. They were able to seat us in the outdoor area which was very lovely and relaxing. We had great drinks and tapas. I would definitely go back again. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Loved the look and vibe of the place! Nice decor, great seating options with a large bar and open kitchen. We had some beers and cocktails with our tapas. The steak and jamon serrano were my favorites, along with the Mezcal cocktail that closely resembled a Mezcal Negroni. Great spot for a night out.

This is a cute place, it’s lively, but seating is a little tight. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had some really good food dishes, but some were mediocre. The meat dishes were dry and not that great, but the seafood, veg & cheese dishes were really good, especially the octopus.

Got sick after eating bad seafood. atmosphere was nice and the service was very good. Spent most the night in the bathroom. Would not reccommend!

There are some good and bad things to say about this place. I'll start with the good: The food is pretty good (Crispy calamari, patatas braves, spiced beef empanadas, parrillada and chicken pimientos), some just average (brussel sprouts, chorizo with sweet and sour figs, albondigas). The desert were excellent (flan, cheesecake, crepes). The wine was good, a large selection to choose from. The staff was great. Friendly, helpful. Now for the bad: One of our meals, the chicken pimiento, came out extremely late. Had to ask where it was and finally came out but not until we were well into the meal. The music was very loud. We had a speaker right over our table and asked if it could be turned down and they were able to do it but still was loud. Lots of people in there and everyone was talking loud (having a good time) but had to talk over the music to hear each other. Last but not least - PARKING! The streets are narrow and parking spots are hard to find. Might be a nice spot to get use an Uber.

Visited for pre dinner drinks. Loud, lively modern bar with a good drinks selection. Red sangria was delicious. We didn’t eat as we had reservations else where but the table snacks where tasty.

We had dinner here with a couple of friends from out of town. I have family from Spain, so I'm pretty picky and also quite familiar when it comes to tapas... I came here to say this place hits the spot. It's hard to miss when you're driving down Passyunk... It looks a little commercial, even can be considered boastful if you want to personify a building. If it is boastful, it is rightfully so. Try the Patatas Fritas, trout a la plancha, and whipped ricotta. And for dessert - the Catalan Flan. I think about this once a week. We had such a fantastic meal, the service was great, it felt pretty COVID safe and compliant, and the price is suitable for the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Except for one thing -- the music is just too loud. It's distracting, and honestly, it took away from the tasty food and overall experience. I don't want to actually yell about how good the food is across the table, even if it is trendy to say you want to "scream it from the rooftops." I suppose if you're trying to not have a conversation with your party, then come here and just eat in silence, because you might lose your voice in competition with the rest of people yelling over the sound. Next time, I think we'll try to eat outside, hopefully not under a speaker.

Loved the tapas and charcuterie. Definitely order the paella! Got to try lots of new and interesting cheeses.

What a fabulous place. Great wine selection from Spain and Portugal, amazing tapas menu and such an attentive staff. My friend and I ordered 4 tapas- which was plenty for a dinner for 2 - The caponata was authentic, warm and yummy. We adored the glazed carrots in zatar and the met turnovers were stuffed and great.. But the star was the whipped sheep cheese drizzled with honey, served with a warm, very buttery toast We devoured 2 orders of this one. It got busier as dinner our neared, but it is a very big place with outdoor seating in good weather, We would defintely return and try some other tapas and cheeses. A must

A lovely meal, excellent service, fun and lively place. Fine selection of food and drink. Hope to visit again.

We hosted an engagement party for our daughter and fiance on June 1, 2019, at Barcelona Wine Bar in Philadelphia. The food was delicious and the drinks were tasty. Nevin and the staff were amazing! They were so friendly and accommodating. Everything turned out perfectly. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great place to throw a party.

Wish Barcelona wine bar was closer to us. Sat at the bar on a Friday and really enjoyed ourselves. Great service, but the selection of the food items was terrific. Hard to choose what to order, since you want to try just about everything. All the food was spot on and tasted great. Also an excellent wines by the glass selection. Can’t go wrong if you’re in the mode for shareable small plates!

Barcelona has a very cool vibe. Rustic and charming. There is outdoor seating with lush vegetation in big pots. Our waitress was wonderful. Knowledgeable about the food and gave us great suggestions. We shared a bunch of plates. Patas bra-vas, Potato tortilla, chorizo with figs, scallops with Polenta.....everything was wonderful. Friendly, causal and delicious. Give it a try if you like tapas.

We were in Barcelona this time last year. Barcelona Wine Bar brought back some great memories. The food is fantastic. Our server was very knowledgable and friendly, and the prices aren't bad. I highly recommend the small plates. Every one we had was delicious.

This place has great food and the staff really tries to please, and we eat there regularly. There are occasional glitches that they run out of regularitems early, (but it's a great place overall.

We very much enjoyed our Tapas here and the home made bread was to die for. Great cocktails and service. Would recommend.

The service was fun and generous.......We had a blast celebrating a 30th Bday. Drinks were great, we ordered many, many tapas...Beet salad, Kale Ceasar, Scallops, Grilled Octopus (hold cream) add a lime wedge, mushrooms, and a delicious chocolate molten dessert with a few ice creams...it was so good we ordered it twice. Fun night, they have heat lamps and blankets outside, I would do that next time.

Went last night and enjoyed the great atmosphere and awesome food. We picked a variety of food including meatballs, pork belly, steak tartare. Staff were friendly, checked in and recommended where necessary. Enjoy alot and would recommend!

We were lucky enough to score a reservation early on Sat. evening. Our servers were attentive but not intrusive. We were 4 adults who ordered 9 tapas and a charcuterie tray. Our favorites were, the mushrooms, the octopus, and the lamb chops. Wine, water, and the warm homemade bread were abundant. Each dish was delicious, excellently prepared & presented. Business was picking up as our meal progressed. We were never rushed. We all ordered desserts & espresso. The espresso arrived quickly but we had to ask for sugar & spoons. Dessert took a REALLY LONG time, but rather that brush us off our server Randi and the Asst. Manager Erin made sure we finally enjoyed our desserts and discounted our bill. Our family lives walking distance to this spot, we will surely return the next time we are in Philly. Thank you for a fabulous dining experience

Well thought out at all levels. Seating inside and out. Very nice variety of wines. In our group of 3 we had 10 different dishes. All were wonderful! Highlights we're the albondigas, chorizo and figs, and the wagyu beef tongue. We will definitely be back!

My family and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. My cousin came down from Georgia and explained that they had Barcelona in Atlanta where she lives so we decided to try it here in Philly. Parking is on the street so be prepared to walk but we were fortunate to find parking directly in front of the restaurant. We made reservations so as soon as we walked in, we were seated. I will admit, it was packed! If your looking for a romantic dinner, this place probably isn't for you. As soon as you walk in, you'll see a lot of people standing around and it will be super loud but we didn't mind it. We all ordered a couple dishes and shared it with the whole table. Everything was pretty good but it's definitely not the best. The prices aren't bad for the portions you get. The only complaint I had was the booths. It was 6 of us, and 3 of us sat on each side. It was really tight and we barely had any room to move. Our hostess was nice but we had about 3 help us throughout the whole night which was kind of odd lol. Other then that, we had a great time and shared a ton of laughs!

In all, the food was good but nothing that was super impressive that I would crave to come back for. Except maybe the garlic aioli that came with the potatoes Patatas bravas came with delicious garlic aioli (7.5) Whipped sheep's cheese w. truffle honey, sea salt (8.5) - cheese and honey were really good but the bread was stale so we ate it with the complimentary bread Albondigas spiced meatballs in Jason-tomato sauce (8.5) - nothing special just meatball and sauce Grilled hanger steak w. truffle vinaigrette (11.5) - chewy .. Grilled Carrots were hard (9) Shaved asparagus salad w. fennel, arugula, lemon, shaved manchego (8.5) - enjoyed Half size paella mariscos w. prawns, calamari, mussels, clams (56) - rice a bit on the harder side but otherwise enjoyed

Drinks and tapas spot in South Philly off Passyunk. Really crazy how much the area has changed in such a short time but there are some really quality food and drinks to be had here nowadays. Barcelona offers tapas and a selection of wines, given that it is a wine bar. The sangria was good, and the food was good as well. Atmosphere inside is casual, a T-shirt might be a little underdressed but at the same time I don't think anyone would care. Inside was well lit with about 10,000 lamps, and sturdy tables. Ample breathing room inside. There was also outdoor seating. Overall great experience, however service was a little slow, but I understand Philly is just re-opening so whatever.

We had spect, chorizo, cheese, hummus with pine nuts and citrus, hanger steak, olives, and wine. They even dropped of a grilled ham and cheese complimentary..regular or sparkling water.. loved the variety and we shared everything..lots of fun.Gabrielle did a great job serving but I love a resturant where any of the wait staff walking by pick up a plate and continually asked if we needed anything.. good service makes a meal better..this food needed no help and got it anyway..well trained staff cudos
We shall return
This was our first visit to Barcelona and a very good experience it was for the four of us. First, they handled a last-minute reservation change very smoothly. Second, they have a very good selection of largely Spanish wines (which I love). (I noticed the bar also had some interesting whiskeys that I’d like to return for.) Third, service was attentive, though our waiter didn’t seem very familiar with the wine list. The order was delivered in a tidal wave, whereas we would have preferred a more leisurely fashion, where each dish could be savored. That said, we had some marvelous tapas — bikini, pork belly, salmon, boquerones, to name just four. A word to other patrons: the tapas portions are much larger than is customary in a restaurant in Spain, so customize your order accordingly.
