Excellent take out!

By Chris M |

Excellent Italian and seafood take out. For years I have ordered different seafood dishes especially the mussels, shrimp and calamari for holiday parties and dinners. They also have a great selection of Italian dishes. You can dine it but this is a great place to grab some take out. Everything is fresh and I've never had a disappointing meal for Barrel's.

Italian goodness

I have been to this restaurant now four times. Each time we visit Philadelphia we end up here The staff is friendly and the food is great. Every Italian dish we have tried had been excellent. It would is a BYOB if you want wine with your meal. I would go back again if I make it back to Philly

What a new low for Barrels.

By Martin H |

Sad to report that Barrels has fallen. First, dry garlic toast. After a while of waiting, our waitress tells me that they are “out of veal”. What? An Italian restaurant in South Philly with only two people in the dining room is “ out of veal”? Sad. My wife’s chicken dish was so dry and burnt it was inedible. Please tell me why?

Take out is the best!

Great value, friendly little place...we order frequently and have yet to be disappointed! Try the white mussels, they are Devine!

Great Food!

I work at the Sunoco Refinery in South Philadelphia and Barrel's is where we prefer to order from. Try the Specialty Sandwiches on the menu. You can't go wrong.

Going here for years

This is a small byob restaurant in South Philadelphia. We have dinner here about six times a year. Really tasty Italian food, great menu at reasonable prices. Same staff for years very, friendly and make you feel comfortable. Weather we have two people or ten in our party, all of the food comes out together and hot. It is a forty minute drive from my home, but worth the time.

Great flavor

I ordered a blackened chicken salad for lunch today which was so delicious I wanted more, along with my lunch was a catering menu so for dinner I ordered a small pan of cheese gnocchi with rosette sauce! Me and my 3boys (4,7,&15) loved it. My 7year old who is picky and does not like sauce asked for me to get it at least 3 times a week for dinner. I am very excited to try more dishes from this place!

Just had delivery from barrels . Their tripe sandwich is to die for. Haven't had it in a while and it is still the best I ever had! If u like tripe you have to try it. The best!!!

Best place for neighborhood South Philly food.....

By PhillyRubio |

This is THE place to experience traditional South Philly food In a neighborhood setting..the dining room entrance is on the side with no sign, but don't let that stop you....a small row house converted, it has only a half dozen tables so you get a cozy feel here....the portions are large and come with the best bread ever....try the mussels in white sauce if they are your thing....been coming here over 20 years and hesitated writing a review here because the secret might get out....but couldn't resist...enjoy!

Delish Takeout

Fried ravioli was delish! Chicken Picante was yummy. Love me some angel hair with chicken in a lemon butter sauce! Great takeout for eating in on a rainy night with good friends!

Very good people and food

This was not amazing but was like an Italian joint with good salads and appetizers. Can't go wrong with closing your eyes and point something at the menu. Their chicken strips are really good with salad of anything. Little taste of Italy in Philly. Then these girls in the back work very hard and cook very good.
