Pretty pricey and not worth the money. The margarita I purchased was tasty, but I didn't realize a Mexican restaurant could ruin carne asada. One...why would you cut your customers meat. Two...if you do....cut against the grain. Meat was chewy and not worth the $25 they charged.

Stopped in for dinner with a coworker. Surprised by the excellent Happy Hour with some great apps and choices at great prices given the high food quality. Excellent Negra Modelo Michelada and the calamari appetizer was spicy, but amazing. We sat at the bar and the service was perfect. I'll be back for sure!

Delicious signature cocktails in a very stylish setting (a wall of candles) make this Capitol Hill newcomer a destination in itself. Only one of my party ordered food - some beef tacos (Flank Taco Trio - $16) which looked wonderful and which he said were succulent and delicious. Our cocktails (classic Margarita, Strawberry Margarita at $11 and a Usual Suspect at $10) were superb but our Server seemed a little impatient despite the fact that the restaurant was very quiet the evening we were there...this was disappointing.and entirely uncalled for as, on a Sunday night at 10pm, they were hardly rushed off their feet. When they began to blow out the candles we got the hint and finished our drinks and left. Disapointing.

Perfect late brunch with Vita coffee and Mexican soda, we enjoyed a vegetable and egg Cazuela - scrambled eggs with oaxaca cheese, smoked mushrooms, red bell peppers, spinach and poblano crema served with fresh tomato salsa, guacamole, papas bravas and housemade tortillas and Pork Belly Benedict · chile braised pork belly, toasted brioche, poached eggs*, habanero hollandaise sauce, fresh tomato salsa and fried jalapeño. No meal is complete there with out homemade Guacamole . Amazing flavor. Come hungry

Wow! What a rip-off! 2 mediocre lime margaritas in a tumbler glass for $29.07! I expected prices would be a little more than your typical Mexican restaurant but everything was alacarte! Even the usual “free” chips and salsa were $3.00 and another $6 for beans & rice with your entree! I’m sure the food would’ve been good but I could not bring myself to pay the price! Sorry, but I’ve had many authentic Mexican meals that would not break the bank like Barrio!

My friend and I shared the duck carnitos tacos which were almost too spicy to properly enjoy but my god the vegetable cazuela was so delicious I would go back to Seattle from Vancouver just for that. We asked what was in it and after checking the serving staff could only say it's a chipotle rub. I assume it was also fried in butter. IT WAS HEAVENLY. My friend really enjoyed her cocktail - not sure now what it was - but my Bourbon cocktail, "The Devil You Know" just tasted like neat Bourbon so I wouldn't recommend it unless you REALLY like Bourbon.

Barrio was the last of the Heavy Restaurant Group eateries we had yet to try, and given our love of Purple, Lot No. 3, and the Commons, we were expecting big things. Mexican/Central American-style food is among our favorite cousines, and we've tried lots of taco bars, traditional American-style Mexican, burrito joints, and everything in between. Since the demise of Frida's in north Bothell, Barrio joins La Carta de Oaxaca at the top of our list in the Seattle area. We arrived late on a hot Friday night, and the entire place was open to the street, and the place was boisterous and loud. Clearly not a place for a romantic dinner for two. Our reserved table was waiting for us, and after getting in an order of chips and salsa (medium-heat, good bite but great flavor), we got our drink on: my wife ordered the frozen margarita, and I got the One Flew Over the Coconut, a rum drink with juice and other mixers served in a frozen coconut. I loved mine, and my wife got more drunk off of *two* of her margaritas than she has in 10 years at any other bar--they don't skimp on the booze at Barrio! For mains, I went with the carnitas, which came on a plate piled high accompanied by onions, salsa, and guacamole, served with corn tortillas (three, but when I ran out our server came back with four more gratis). I loved the pork, and the combination of the veg with the meat on the tortillas made for a perfect street taco. My wife ordered the crab relleno, which was devoured without so much as an offer to share. It must have been good. We were there for our anniversary, and when our server noticed us exchanging gifts we explained the occasion. After dinner, she delivered a creme brûlée on the house, a very nice gesture delivered with a smile and congratulations. About the only drawback to Barrio that we could find is its location: we live north of Seattle, and don't get to Capital Hill very often. Parking is also a chore, but certainly worth the effort for the food, service, and atmosphere. We'll be back, just not as quickly as we would hope.

Great spot for Friday night dinner in the city. Enjoyed a chopped salad and the pork tacos. Guacamole was delicious as well. The strawberry and basil margarita was just a bit sweet.

Very accommodating with our large party reservation, wonderful family style table that sat all of us, friendly service and wonderful atmosphere. The food was amazing and the drinks were really amazing! Will definitely be dining here again!

We enjoyed happy hour here recently. The choices were great and the prices reasonable. The decor in this restaurant is aesthetically pleasing. My one problem with the place was the service, our server was mediocre at best and seemed annoyed to serve us.

Barrio is an experience! It has a wall of candles and huge windows which give it a great atmosphere. Yesterday, I had the cheese enchilada with verde sauce and their signature chopped salad; both of which were primo. Their from- scratch margaritas are the best ever and the staff are both helpful and attentive. This is favorite spot for locals but also a fun place to bring out of town guests for the " Capital Hill experience" and the very tasty food.

If you aren't a tequila person it's not the best spot for you but the drinks I had were excellent. I don't like tequila but I managed to find an awesome drink with the help of the waitress. We also got the pineapple for the heck of it and it was REALLY GOOD. Salsa and chips were excellent as well.

I've been here several times for lunch and for drinks/appetizers. I usually get the chopped salad with grilled chicken added for lunch, the chicken has a nice seasoning on it (slightly spicy). During happy hour I've ordered the grilled corn on the cob (with cotija cheese, chipotle salt and jalapeño butter) and chipotle braised chicken enchalada and they were both delicious. Our table ordered various appetizers to share and we enjoyed them all. I had the La Paloma drink - tasty. We also really liked the guacamole and various salsas. The salted caramels with chile are delicious.

Extremely slow service. Took 20 minutes for drinks. And auto charge service of 20%. I don’t mind that but then at least provide the service. Drinks were expensive but were good and strong. Food was pretty good. The restaurant very loud and hard to have a conversation. And for funny entertainment, sit at the tables where you can see the front door. 90% of the people can’t figure out how to get in the front door.

Phenomenal brunch menu - lots of classics like biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles but also lots of mexican-inspired brunch options as well. They have the best margaritas I've had in my life - used to be $5 on Sundays but I'm not sure if they still are. This place is a must every time I'm in Seattle. Also if it's nice out they roll up the windows and you're eating basically outside which is awesome.

Great location and a nice place for Mexican food. They can accommodate large parties as well. Service is really good... our drinks took quite a bit to come to our table but the server was very apologetic and took them off our check. The food, I would say is mediocre. They also have couple vegan options. I tried about 3-4 vegetarian taco out of which the beet taco was the best--- do give it a try! Cauliflower taco did not taste good at all. Drinks weren't bad either. There is ample parking available around the restaurant if you go early.

Service was awesome (thanks Rocco!). We happened to be here on Monday and they had a 1/2 off special on all tequila. So, my husband tried several. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was great. Atmosphere and vibe, music were all great!

I went to Barrio for brunch with few friends for the first time and we all were impressive with the food and drink. I got the Barrio Sour and it was amazing. I definitely want to go back to try the fish tacos.

Barrio is a great place to get Mexican food to satisfy your lunch or dinner cravings. Be daring and try the ghost pepper margarita!

We stumbled upon Barrio after yoga class. This place was so good I posted a food photo on Facebook for the first time ever. Here's what we had, both dishes were fantastic: 1) House-made buttermilk biscuits, jalapeño-chicken sausage gravy, poached eggs, hot-sauce, and papas bravas. 2) Crispy braised pork, roasted jalapeño pancakes, caramelized pineapple, maple syrup, sunny side eggs, and fresh fruit.

Very nice atmosphere with nice selection of small bites for happy hour. Beet tacos, mini enchiladas and spiced beans and cheese were all very good. Margaritas are very good - tart, but not large, for $8 happy hour price. Attentive bar service for an overall nice experience.

The only reason why I didn't give Barrio a '5' is because it's a little pricey. Not too expensive, but enough for me to question how hungry I was because I didn't want to spend a lot. The food here is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I got the taquitos and the grilled corn, I would have taken a picture but by the time I had remembered I was already half way done with me food. The next time I eat here, I will be sure to order multiple ears of corn - so yummy! The restaurant also takes reservations, which was really important since we had a party of 7 for a bachelorette party. Our waiter was really nice too, he cracked jokes and made sure we had what we needed. *PS- if the person who paid for our meal ever reads this review thank you, thank you, thank you! We all appreciate it and it was a wonderful way to start our evening!

Had a great time here, service was fast and friendly despite the fact that it was extremely busy. Many thanks to Casey for all the recommendations on places to visit in Seattle!

This visit was for lunch and we found everything really good. From the staff to the service to the food/drink - everything was very enjoyable. When in the mood for mexican, we would highly recomnmend a visit here.

It's not often that I want everything on the menu, but I did when we went for brunch here. Coffee was great, food delicious and service really pleasant. One of the best bloody mary's I've ever had. If I lived in Seattle, I would definitely be a regular. There are a lot of hard surfaces in a very large room, so it's probably incredibly loud on weekend nights, but I'd love to give it a try.

We had a late night bite of guacamole and tacos with some salsa. The food was fresh and really tasty. The guacamole is very garlicky and you will taste it all the next day for sure. We had the chili pepper mule and it was interesting and different. When the bill came it was shockingly expensive for six drinks and six tacos with guacamole and salsa. They add a 20% service fee to the check for “wages, benefits” and something else for the staff. Normally a restaurant works those costs into the food price! It was odd and irritating particularly since the wait staff pretty much said she expected more because the service fee was shared. There was no way to really opt out of the fee either. In any event the food was good and drinks were solid.

The restaurant proposes an extensive Mexican menu and many drinks pretty uncommon (beers and Agaves). The latter is to be noted as many Mexican restaurants restrict their beers to Corona and Modelo. The nachos plate is huge and to die for. The rest of the carte is excellent overall. Don’t hesitate to ask for spices as some items (eg Enchilladas verde ) are too mild to my taste. The price is really correct. The restaurant is decorated with taste (kudos to the people in charge of lighting the hundreds of candles..). One drawback (hence 4 stars not 5): the restaurant is extremely noisy..avoid it for couples discussions….

I agree with the reviewers who are impressed with the food and design of the place. I find the noise level at least one step above what I consider to be friendly to socializing. The hard surfaces combined with the level of sound make pleasant conversation with even one person difficult. Also it was for a birthday and the waitstaff forgot until we were on our way out the door.

This was a fun place to take my young adult kids when I was in town. The spicy margarita was delicious! It is not endless salsa refills here, but they have a few different kinds that are tasty. We all had different tacos and were happy. Our service was very good. The acoustics are loud, but if you get a booth, it cuts down on the noise.

Pleasantly surprised by this Mexican spot - great brunch menu - loved the French toast and the Scrambled eggs with veggies.

We had a group of seven last week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Immediate seating and immediate service taking our drink orders and immediate return with everything as ordered. Our server was really good. Professional, friendly and knowledgeable of the drink menu and food menu. She was able to answer all of our questions regarding ingredients and preparation and then steer us toward what we might like best...and she nailed it! She was also very attentive throughout the entire meal, always made sure we were well served. Chicken enchiladas were perfectly prepared and the serving was 3 in the skillet, so lunch the next day was easy. The salmon tacos turned out to be a little too hot for one of our group but the flavor was very good. Others thought it not too hot. 3 different sauces to choose from; red, green or Christmas (their description). All excellent, the green is the more mild of the three. Big bowl of tortilla chips with the 3 sauces and guacamole to start was nice. Not a quiet place but we could still carry on our conversation without much difficulty. Would highly recommend this restaurant for good south of the boarder comfort food, prices modest.

I've been to this restaurant many times - but not recently, until today. We either caught them on a bad day, or they have gone downhill. Saturday brunch was a letdown, with sub-par breakfast burritos and a Bloody Mary too spicy to finish. Service was good, but slow (and they were not busy.) It took our food more than a half an hour to come out of the kitchen.

While this review was based on my recent visit in July during breakfast, it also is a summary of past experiences that I've had here. There's no denying that the food is delicious whether it's for breakfast or dinner. I particularly like the chilaquiles for breakfast and their tacos al pastor for dinner. Where this restaurant could improve is on the service. Often times I get waiters who aren't very attentive and spend a lot of time talking to their friends that are sitting at the bar. This place can get busy very fast and as a result if the staff isn't of that mindset, you can sometimes find yourself waiting longer than necessary. I am hopeful that they will see this and work to improve training and guidelines for service. It's a shame that sometimes it overshadows the great work that is done in the kitchen.

Stopped by while in town with friends. Neat place, wide assortment of eclectic Latin and Mexican food to choose from. Loved the red sangria. The candle wall in the evening added to the nice atmosphere.

Excellent, friendly service, delicious food, and tasty drinks. I will most definitely be back! The tacos were very good!

We tried three different margaritas tonight and they were all bad, bad, bad. The food was good, though. Interesting fried chicken tacos and pork taquitos.

This place ROCKS!!! We had such an awesome meal... The food is authentic Mexican with a modern mix. Their list of tequilas is impressive and we made sure to take advantage! The drinks were amazing!! Yum...

Ate here with my family because it looked nice from outside. Ordered way too much food, all of it was really good and reasonably priced too. Drinks were also superb. Exceptionally friendly staff really made the evening. Lovely wall of candles and had a great atmosphere, despite it being a Monday night. Would highly recommend it to anyone. If I lived here, I'd come all the time.

Urban Mexican Restaurant and Bar. Good food and drinks. We enjoyed friendly service. We loved the Queso and chips appetizer. The shrimp ceviche was good too. Drinks were good. Tequila flight was excellent. Barrio Quesadillas and Chicken Tortilla Soup were amazing. Spicy steak burrito and taco platter were very good. We’ll be back.

Our first time in Seattle and we are staying in the Capital Hill neighborhood. Barrio Mexican Kitchen and Bar was within walking distance and we decided to visit. The atmosphere was fun and the decor interesting. The staff were all lovely and so professional. The food was simply awesome. Our entire party was pleased. Yum!

We came by for an early dinner and really enjoyed our meals. The food tastes fresh and cooked just right. We had an assortment of tacos.

Sangria. Tacos. Enchilados. Everything I love except with a special modern flare. Highly recommended.

This is our fourth visit to the United States and our quest to find good Mexican food continues. Our hosts for the evening, locals and American, did say that they didn't feel that the food was particularly authentic but, that said, it was definitely the best presented, varied and tastiest we have experienced; although I would add the caveat that I don't profess to be an expert on the authenticity of the dishes or flavours. All I know is that we both really enjoyed the meal. The environment had quite muted lighting, which we realised after a while was provided by countless real candles, so very soft and atmospheric. The décor was rustic / industrial, lots of wood and natural materials. We sat in a booth which was cosy and private. Staff were friendly, helpful, efficient and informative. There was a good tequila menu which my three companions enjoyed. There were also cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails. I had a meat dish, artistically presented on a big platter with rice, beans, onion, veg, sauce - all very tasty and filling. We went on a Thursday night and things were quiet, so no feeling of being rushed to clear the table. Our company was engaging and so we lingered and were given our privacy, with the occasional enquiry as to whether we would like anything else. Prices didn't seem high, compared to other eateries in this region (I am struggling to come to terms with the high prices in the Seattle area compared to home). All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Attractive industrial decore- metal, wood, candles. Happy hour nachos were full of great flavor, chips crisp, guac fresh, spicy chicken yummy. Perhaps the best nachos I've ever had. Presentation was tall and attractive. Everyone in my party loved their food and we shared a yummy galatto. The "show" was a very enthusiastic bartender.

We stopped in on the way to a birthday party and were able to get a seat at the bar right away. The service was very good and the food was excellent. It was busy but we got the food quickly. The tacos were especially good.

Seattle is full of expensive, pretentious dinners. Barrio offers delicious, creative Mexican food at reasonable prices without the attitude. We had a late dinner with friends mid-week in March. We ordered three delicious vegetarian dishes to share: the vegetable cazuela, smoked mushroom enfrijoladas, and the butternut squash and kale enchiladas. They were all good; the enchiladas were fabulous. The carnivore in our group enjoyed the pork shoulder carnitas. The portions are generous, and almost all of the entrees are under $20. Barrio also has a long list of tequilas and margaritas. The atmosphere is lively and a little noisy, but not so much that it interferes with conversation. If you're looking for Mexican in Seattle, Barrio offers much better food than the Cactus chain, which has a similar vibe.

Had a gift card for Purple and noticed it was also honored at Barrio. We were in the neighborhood and stopped in. One of the best decisions! Margaritas were so good, and the food was outstanding! Great food and drinks, friendly service and an amazingly Designed interior. This will now be one of our go to restaurants in Seattle.

Decided to go here when I saw they had chicken posole - Excellent choice. The posole is a must try. Not many Mexican restaurants serve it. Enchiladas are also excellent. I'm from Texas so eat a LOT of Mexican food. Will definitely eat here again next time in Seattle!

We visited this place for Brunch perhaps after two years. The place has improved in its service and offering. The Food is excellent and ambience vey good,Their Margarita is excellent. We had Salad which was great and Tacos and Cassedia.. All preparations were excellent. Would recommend this place for Good Mexican Food ,

Not worth It, it’s not real tacos, too much onions, drinks are not good! Everything are tastes-less and there’s no music!!

Had a lovely evening in a beautiful restaurant, originally thought it was a bit expensive for tacos, but they were incredibly fresh and delicious! Thank you for a lovely evening!

Good food but pretty typical of what's being served for Seattle Mexican food right now. The ambience is excellent. Big round bar in the middle of the room, and a whole wall of candles make it seem warm and inviting. Tables and chairs are so big that you end up sitting farther way from the people you came with than you want to. Waiter was great at helping us navigate the menu.

Amazed w/ vast selection of Mezcal and Tequila. Showed up at 2 ish. Slow time of day as far as # of customers. Mitchell bartender was very nice. We rolled dice w 2 different mezcals and like it. Ordered Chilquiles and they were able to put pork on side since lady is vegetarian. They were yummy with the egg. We will come back on Mondays where it's half off on the mezcals/tequila list. The decor is very nice. Kind of like an upscale Game of thrones castle'ish interior. If that makes any sense. All staff was nice.

Worst service I've ever had in Seattle. Appetizer never arrived, no one ever addressed it. After I ordered food I never heard from a bartender or server. Finally asked for a manager, who was nice enough to take the service charge off (perfect because there was no service). This place really needs to look at its staff and service!

Overall a fantastic evening. The design of Barrio creates a wonderful atmosphere, although the chairs are annoyingly heavy and low, otherwise they've done a great job with the interior. The staff are friendly and efficient. The best part is the food. An interesting take on classic mexican cuisine. The guacamole is very good but their fish taco was excellent. Overall a great place to go as a couple or with friends.

I love coming here for dinner and drinks with friends! The food is always amazing, service is good, and the atmosphere is intimate and cozy. I really love all the candles and the uniqueness of this place.

My nacho came like the Mt. Rainier on a sizzling plate. Loaded with guacamole which is my favorite and moist slow roasted pork. My partner’s enchilada came in three. Each with a different tasty sauce. I also ordered a fried cod taco. It was also nicely prepared. My nacho with pork was enough to feed two people and only $14. Our waitress informed us that the restaurant serves the nacho in same size at half price during their happy hour. Wow! It’s a steal. If you don’t like margaritas, Barrio has a long list of wine by glass at $8. My Chardonnay was great. My experience at Barrio was amazing. I definitely will go back to Barrio in the near future.

I've eaten here at least 20 times and have never been disappointed. I love the Barrio chopped salad and the tacos and enchiladas have interesting ingredients (butternut squash and kale enchilada for example) and are delicious. Their happy hour has has a large variety of items for $4-8. The ambiance is nice with a divider wall in middle of the restaurant with about 200 candles on it.

Went for my birthday dinner and the food was outstanding. Service was also good. They had my Negra Modelo on tap which was great. The only negative is the margaritas were somewhat overpriced. Great experience and will definitely return.

Barrio had a great menu that was hard to choose from. They had some classic dishes as well as some delicious twists. The atmosphere and set up of the bar and restaurant was amazing. I would definitely recommend having a meal at this restaurant.

After a year or so I decided to have lunch with a out of town visitor. It was the beginning of the lunch hour and not very busy. Our server was nice but when we needed something, was nowhere to be found. The hostess had mastered the art of never really looking at you in case you needed anything. The food was a little bland and my friend’s soup was cold. Judging by the aroma in the room I was hoping for better. I think the Barrio exists for it’s bar trade rather than the food.

One of our most memorable spots in our recent night out on Cap Hill. Their 100% Agave Mezcal tasting is $25 (half-price) on off-peak nights...an excellent experience, great service, and one of the best values even. I've been here 3 others times - food is worthy of 4 stars.

Out with family in the big city. Took TripAdvisor rec. and went to Barrio. Ordered salsa sampler- interesting mix- loved the creamy guacamole. Good steak tacos but son outordered us with carne.

Met some friends here for happy hour on a very warm August evening. Great bar, music, cocktails and exceptional service. Very cool loft type atmosphere, with rustic tables and huge windows that open onto the street. We ordered a variety of salads and shrimp tacos and all were excellent and satisfying. Well worth the ride up from downtown.

We had lunch here. My daughter and I shared an order of plain nachos. Oh my! They were the best I've ever eaten! Not sure what kind of cheese they use, but it was great! The pickled jalapeno pepper slices were so good, and not overly done. Can't wait to go back!

The place is setup like a candlelit hacienda. Hundreds of candles adds to a comfortable venue. The food is not your traditional Mexican and has a touch of Tex-mex. Was a little disappointed with the pork shoulder carnidas, was a bit dry and dry. The roasted pepper was good.

We were in town visiting Seattle and we in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and wanted to check out some Mexican food. We were at a brewery and got a recommendation to check this place out. It was a Friday night at about 7pm and we went in to see how long the wait was. So the wait was 2 hours for a table but there were 2 open spots at the bar so we grabbed those. The bartender (wish I could remember his name) was amazing, very attentive to all the bar patrons for drinks and food. I tried a Mezcal Mule and my hubby had a beer, we ordered the guac (because if a Mexican place doesn't have good guac, leave immediately!) and the chips which also came with Salsa. Well the guac was amazing and a super large amount of it. I ordered the pulled chicken salad and the Hubby had the three tacos, pulled chicken, beet and pork. The tacos were a large enough portion and my salad was huge! We ended up taking leftovers back with us since we didn't want to waste the amazing food. I really loved the interior of this place and the people who worked there were very friendly. I would definitely come here many times if I lived in Seattle.

Amazing custom cocktails with an unusual twist. Phillip is the best ! Great bar vibe, very friendly staff and atmosphere. Will definitely be returning soon, hopefully to be eating next time - judging by the good reviews! Thanks again :)

Because I had read mixed reviews about this restaurant, and I had not yet found any really good Mexican-influenced cuisine in Seattle, my expectations were somewhat low. I was pleasantly surprised! The menu had many delicious sounding options. My spouse ordered a special soup of the day and a chicken dish, while I ordered a vegetarian dish. All of the food was flavorful and well-prepared. We really enjoyed the meal and it most definitely exceeded my expectations.

This place has awesome cocktails made by very attractive bartenders. I would recommend sitting at the bar. The food is ok, but I think this place wins more with cocktails and ambiance. Lots of candles and good people watching.

Heard about this place from a friend who frequents Seattle. There was a group of 7 of us on a Saturday and they seated us right away. The margaritas were ordered, and WOW!!, no light pour here. it was Happy Hour so we ordered a bunch of appies... the guacamole was incredible!! Chunks of avocado and not sure what their secret ingredient was, but hands down the best guacamole I have ever had. We also ordered the melted cheese with the chorizo and the chicken tostas, all were excellent! Service was wonderful and the food was a defiante "will return"

This is a spacious with happy ambiance Mexican food outlet on the main street. Their tacos, specially the cauliflower with resin and beetroot were good. The guacamole was a little disappointing but their Vegan options were worth appreciation and thoughtful. Would still like to return.

This place has a great vibe that takes you in with its candlelit walls and tables. The dark wood floors and furniture give the place an old world charm. The food is outstanding with the stars of our evening being the steak tacos. Unlike most places, the beans served as a side dish are not merely added to fill the plate. They were nicely seasoned and kept me wanting more of them. If you like margaritas, try the "Camino Real". The bar is beautiful, and I watched the bartenders skillyfully prepare drinks to order. My only complaint is that they do not take reservations over the phone. Our party of 6 was told we would have no issue seating us, but when we arrived we were told there would be an hour to hour and half wait. I watched several other parties leave after being told the same. We had to wait from of our party to arrive, and once they did, we were seated after about a 20 min wait.

The restaurant was empty. But apparently no tables for 2 were available. The hostess said we could sit at the bar. However, there were 6 open seats but none next to each other, and the hostess said "one can sit on this side of the bar... And one can sit on the other side of the bar." When we asked her to help us make it work at the bar, she said "I'm sorry... That's your problem" and walked away. So with a half empty bar and a half empty restaurant, there was no place to seat two people. We left and will never return because of the poor customer service and lack of intelligence of the hostess staff.

We sat at the Bar for dinner on a warm Summer evening. Large windows left open with nice breeze coming in. Great service, friendly bartender, excellent house Margaritas. I had the Carnitas for dinner, they were cooked perfectly. I would highly reccommend this restaraunt.

So, want a great meal in pleasant surroundings with good service but still have a hankering for Mexican? This is the place. A little expensive for what it is, but you are paying for the fine dining experience, not just the food. Only wish that they had decent beer but that would be something of a miracle with Mexican food!

One of my top latin american brunch spots, I love the bloodies and the chilaquiles are perfect after a night out. Get the full portion and take the leftovers home! They keep exceptionally well.

My friend and local weekend guide brought me here for dinner, and all was amazing. I decided to start with the guacamole and then have 3 different tacos for my meal. The guacamole was delicious and fresh, but was eclipsed by the quality of the Tacos. I had one beef, one chicken and one roasted cauliflower one. All were superb, and what surprised me the most, is the vegetarian one was my favorite! Next time I'm in Seattle, I'll definitely be returning.

Probably one of the best Mexican restaurant I have been able to experience in the US (I live on the east coast, so I might have the same choice than in Cali). Tacos were great, very inventive, super fresh

Pretty ok service. Tequila, mezcal, and drink menu pricing was above average for a pretty pricey neighborhood. The atmosphere was wonderful but the food suffered. Expect $5+ per taco of nominal taste. At least the bathrooms are really nice!

First, the location on Seattle's busy Capitol Hill is always tricky for parking. Our group carpooled or arrived via Lyft. Street parking was full, but there is a pay garage just a few doors down, so on this rainy night we chose that. The restaurant apologized that they cannot validate, but it was worth it! We had a lovely evening at Barrio! I was a bit concerned because the reviews all seem to complain about slow service and noise. I guess the service wasn't exactly fast, but we weren't there to be hurried, so it seemed perfectly appropriately paced. As for noise, I would agree that it is a noisy environment. Fortunately we were seated at a round booth (for 6 people, but could easily accommodate 8 by adding chairs), with a tall (metal?) back that surrounded most of the bench seat. That shielded us from a lot of the noise, and seemed to help project the voices at our table so it was pretty easy to communicate. Definitely not a quiet spot though. The overall design of the space is quite nice, and we found ourselves mesmerized by the tall wall of flickering candles. We actually had to check to figure out if they were real, as the concept of individually lighting that many seemed impossible. But they are all real, not battery powered, and we were told it takes about 40 minutes to light them all! While we considered our orders, we shared the Guacamole, which was excellent, and came with delicate chips with just the right amount of saltiness. Only complaint is we couldn't stop eating them and had to order a 2nd round! I was also a bit skeptical when I saw the menu, as a large part is tacos, "served up individually" for about $5-6 each. But once we found out that most people have 3-4 for a meal, it all made sense and allowed us to order an interesting variety. Yes, one person ordered chicken enchiladas, and said that was excellent. Another paired a taco with some soup, and enjoyed that. Everyone else had a variety of tacos and raved about them all. I personally tried the salmon, the beer-battered rockfish, and the tequila battered prawns, and the hardest part was deciding which I liked best. Prawns I think, but they were all delicious, with interesting combinations of ingredients that made them all unique. We were there to celebrate THREE birthdays, and someone alerted the waiter to this. They had been there in the past, and said the birthday celebrant had been given a complimentary order of churros, so we thought we might get an order to share. But no.... They brought a selection of 3 different desserts, which we happily shared! I thought that was extremely generous (they had checked 2 of the ID's for the bar earlier, so I guess they knew we were legit). The churros were light and fluffy, with chocolate to dip in. I believe the other selections were the Tres Leches cake, (which I actually thought was a cheesecake, topped with berry sauce and hazelnuts) and the Creme brûlée, which was a bit soupy, but with a nicely crunchy top. Again, delicious.

We had a lovely dinner here last night. I had the tacos al pastor. They were pretty good. They had too much pineapple and the avocado sauce maybe should have been on the side. Not exactly authentic but not bad. My husband had the chicken rings tacos and they looked great! My friend had the enchiladas in green sauce. They came in red sauce but she really liked it. The drinks were good with a notable mention: the ginger beer. It was excellent! Decently priced and great service, I would definitely go back.

Went here for my girlfriends birthday!! The service was exceptional and the food was good. The lighting inside was beautiful as well. Parking is a hassle but loved the restaurant

Chris, the manager, knows how to run the restaurant and accommodate customers and his staff have the same attitude. Chicken Enchiladas were recommended to us and they were outstanding. Ask to sit near the window especially if they are open on a nice night for a great feel of the city.

Husband & I dropped by just a few minutes before the end of Happy Hour (6pm), but our server let us order off the very long Happy Hour menu, so we ordered several dishes: beans & cheese, guacamole, rockfish ceviche + drink special, churros with chocolate sauce. It was all very tasty, and portions were large for Happy Hour, all with the added bonus of happy hour prices. We went on a random Wednesday evening, but it was full of people and music and hopping! We don't usually like loud restaurants, but we sat next to one of the open-air windows/walls, so we were comfortable.

I love mexican and this food was a little mild, but pretty and tasted fine. It actually tasted like halthy mexican (beet tacos??) and I wasn't eating thre to be healthy. The service was good, especially considering how busy it was on a thursday evening. I'd return for the location. We split a generous chopped salad, and had our own plates of tacos or enchilladas for the meal. together with 2 beers it was 56, beore tip.

Don't come here if you'd like to be able to actually converse with your dinner companions. The music was just too loud. In addition, two of the three meals we ordered were far spicier than the menu would have suggested.

I've been using this place as a happy hour spot for planning meetings. I love their nachos (you can add different meats or even mushrooms but I like them best without the additions- they make them a little soggy) because they use think corn chips and all of the cheese is melted and bubbly with lots of guacamole, jalapenos and diced tomatoes. I also love their beet tacos, kale (or asparagus for this season) and mushroom enchiladas. The bean dip wasn't my favorite and the margaritas got smaller in the last 2 months. I was also here about a year ago after purchasing a $500 dinner for 6 at an auction. They served a multi-course meal with drink pairings and were super accommodating to those in my party with food issues (no dairy or eggs) and the one who doesn't drink alcohol. There is a small outdoor eating area but they have huge windows that pull up so it's almost like being outside. One thing that I would change is their chairs at the tables and the bar are so heavy it's hard to pull myself in to the eating surface. But that will never keep me from going here.

Loved everything from the decor to the food and drinks. Enjoyed a mezcal mule that was smokey and delicious. The corn on the cob, sloppy, but SOOO good. Great spot for friends to gather and drink and enjoy great food.

I’ve been to Barrios an endless number of times, as they’re one of the few places that can accommodate larger group sizes and are open late. This tends to be a last choice for larger groups. The food and drink has been consistent, but I wouldn’t label it as great. Fonda la Catrina in Georgetown continues to rank as one of my top Mexican in Seattle. Food and drinks are basic, yet tend to be at least $1 more per item. I’ve seen and tasted much of the menu, and haven’t been impressed. The tacos in particular were a big let down—bland and in desperate need of flavour! It’s a larger restaurant, and potentially understaffed, so service (at peak times) always tends to be slower than desired. Be ready to order, and possibly flag the server for additional drinks/asks. On the plus side, they’re larger and can accommodate big reservations (even last minute). On Capitol Hill this is a rare luxury.

Barrio is an interesting alternative to the typical americanized Mexican food experience. The space has a modern urban look, and their big bar has a surprisingly serious cocktail program, including flights of spirits such as mescal and boutique vodkas. The space gets quite loud, so Barrio would not be my first choice for a romantic meal, or for a place to take the grandparents or little kids. But if your group doesn't mind speaking up in order to be heard, dining at Barrio is a lot of fun. Everything we ordered was quite good. There were no dishes that were out-of-the-park-home-runs, but likewise there was nothing we regretted ordering. Hint: the tasty chilaquiles appetizer arrives in a very ample portion and makes a great app for sharing. There is (paid) public parking available in a garage just down the street. Barrio is easily one of the better Mexican options in Seattle, if you are up for a vibrant and loud dining experience.

Amazing food, with excellent service. Very friendly staff and surprisingly quick food service. I will go back next time we are in town.

It was delicious and the happy hour prices were great. I got the mango margarita, and it was rimmed with chile lime powder (YUM) and I also got a chicken taco which was $4. I thought it would be small but one was perfectly stuffed! The bartenders went above and beyond. 10/10 would recommend. Also the lighting and all the candles is beautiful... would be a great date place!

Walked from Swedish Cherry Hill Campus, not to far and a good walk (even with light rain). First off, the entrance to the place is NOT OBVIOUS. We walked up and down looking for it looking foolish. The entrance is on the side of the building and has a ring pull on the front. It could use a sign or some designation. The place is low lit, and we ate during dinner hours so it was very dark. I was able to adjust fine, but my parents had a very difficult time. The small tea lights on the table was not enough and I had to use my phone for additional light for my parents to be able to read the menu. FOOD - Good, though I'm not a fan of Mexican restaurants that doesn't offer chips and salsa as a complimentary appetizer. However, they do refill the chip bowl for free when you do order it. I think the chips are out of a bag, not freshly made. I had the pork shoulder carnitas. The meat was nice and tender with a slight crunch to the charred outside which I liked. It came with corn tortillas and taco fixings minus sour cream. The portions were decent not small but not a lot. I wish it came with rice or beans, but I came away full and satisfied so I didn't miss it. My folks had Carne asada and strip steak taco which they both enjoyed. The strip steak came with 4 tacos, but it was enough for my dad. My parents had a hard time seeing their food (they are in their 60s), that really was their only complaint. The service was good and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. On our way back to swedish, there were some homeless folks near the restaurant asking for food. They probably can't control this, and I don't mind helping or sharing... but others may mind so I'm sharing this knowledge.

My husband and I met some friends at Barrio at the suggestion of another friend. Our reservation was at 5 pm but we showed up 15 mins early. The hostess directed us to sit at the bar until our server clocked in for her shift. We weren't in a hurry so I ordered a red sangria. Our food and drinks were delicious as we shared several items off the happy hour menu.

A Good Brunch Menu in the Week End. Normally not crowded and you can dine without reservations. We had shredded Salad, Nachos and Burritos. All the preparations were excellent. Décor was pleasant and the staff were friendly and very courteous. They have good choices of drinks, but prices a bit high. All in all a good restaurant for Mexican Food.

We got great service, and were just blown away by the food. I had the special, which that night was salmon. It was beautifully cooked - just about perfect. Served over the most wonderful corncakes, with argula and... GRILLED PEACHES! My only beef is that the guacamole and salsa weren't as flavorful as others I've had - a bit low on salt, cilantro, and/or lime juice, for my taste.

Once every year or so we visit to make sure it's still bland. We aren't disappointed. It's hard to taste the Mexican in the food. And it's far too pricey for what you get. Which is just bland, boring, and blasé. And there's no salt on the tables. It's a poor product all around, especially with regards to price/quality.

A party of 5 was no problem, and generous booths are available. You pay for chips and salsa, which is odd at a texmex restaurant. The food was served quickly and the wait staff very attentive.

As my title suggests, I love their tacos el pastor. I have been here three times and ordered them twice. The carne asada is really good too. Split the small chopped salad as an appetizer last time and would order that again too.

Excellent atmosphere, not noise, great place to meet people, good and authentic Mexican drinks and draft beer, but not the Mezcal, They make own Mezcal, but taste like syrup. The food is good, not great.

I-try never to write a bad review. I don’t like to. But- I can’t really get past the incredibly slow service (we have been here twice) and the hot temperatures inside restaurant. It took twenty minutes to get our drinks and over ten minutes to just be acknowledged. Restaurant was not crowded. One dish we ordered never even showed up. We were so ready to leave after an almost 2 1/2 hour dinner I never even checked to see if it showed up on bill. This was similar to our last experience here but I chalked that up to a Saturday night. No excuses this time. We won’t be back.

I found Bario by doing a search on the Internet. I was looking for a restaurant in the Capital Hill area that we could have a group dinner at. Bario turned out to be a great option. We had one side of the restaurant. The food and service was wonderful. I wish I lived in the area and could go back.

It has a great vibe and some interesting taco options like cauliflower or fried chicken or jack fruit. All the seasonings were delicious. I would say that the tacos are basically $5 street tacos which is a lot and you will 3 - 4 to fill up if you are hungry. But I would definitely come back because it was good enough to support the prices.

First time, I got tacos where the meat was cold. Everyone has an off day, so came back a second time for dinner. Interesting side items and the cauliflower appetizer was good. Sides of beans and rice were just fine. Guacamole was good, standard. Just always feel like the bill here doesn't justify average food. The bar looks cool, though.

The food and drinks are creatively based on Mexican traditions. Service was excellent. They were able to accommodate our off-the-street request for seating with plenty of tables even as they were serving a sizable number of guests. They have a large selection of agave-based products and offer flights of these.

My husband and I keep returning here because the food is just so dang GOOD. The nachos appetizer is hands-down the best nachos we've ever had in our lives! Everything about them is sublime -- flavors, textures, temperature. I'm salivating just thinking about them. Their enchiladas are so rich and have so much depth in their flavors. Again, the best enchiladas we've ever had! We've also enjoyed their stuffed poblano peppers dish and a few others. Really, we've never had a bad dish or bad experience here. Our only complaint is the location isn't the greatest due to the fact that you get full-on sun from the street side of the restaurant, which is mostly windows. We usually have to eat inside the restaurant with sunglasses on because the sun is right in our faces and difficult to avoid no matter where you sit. :-(

Service was top notch, while food was pretty middle of the road. Very good margaritas (lots of tequila), so for drinks a great spot, the bar was large and looked fun. One thing to beware of, they took a automatic tip and we were a table of 2, (so unless your server tells you), and if you’re like me and don’t scan the bill you could end up double tipping.

Make a reservation, and come after dark. It's a cool vibe, with a great visual space. The food is priced correctly, and quality is excellent. Go for the mezcal and stay late. You won't be disappointed.

This White boy with the spanish stomach visited a cool place in Capital Hill today. I had their Pork Taco with the Charro beans and the juacamole & chips. The taco came with pineapple and marinated onions. Thumbs up to something I never had in Mexico that was way cool good. The Charro beans seemed heavy with cumin were ok, and the juac was a little too heavy with lime or lemon or both. This place is very macho and is down right masculine in a architectural way. I will go back and try other things.

We stopped here in Capital Hill and it was delicious! My husband had the carne asada and I had the carnitas. We had delicious salsa and chips and good drinks! We enjoyed our time at this restaurant and had good service as well!

I highly recommend Barrio. The food was fresh and delicious. We had guacamole and chips to start, they were great. I had tacos and mexican corn for dinner, also great. Friends had carnitas and a quesadilla, they were also pleased with their food. Service was solid and ambiance beautiful (many small candles). I'm a margarita fan and in full disclosure have very high margarita standards. I was disappointed in the margarita I ordered with apps, opted for a Pacifico to accompany dinner.

I went in thinking it was the Italian restaurant across the road but was too embarrassed to admit that and leave. A good choice. They explained the Mexican menu well and we settled on tasty and delicious food even a gringo could enjoy.

I was there on a weeknight during happy hour with some colleagues to plan an event. The noise level was just right to talk with one another without feeling like we had to raise our voices to be hear. AND the food was amazing: I had butternut squash and kale enchiladas, and a margarita. Then decided on some churros, which were the best I've ever had.

I really liked the food here. The fact that there is so little parking available was the only negative. They do have Negra Modelo on tap, which made up for some. I had Carnitas and my husband had Crab Chili Rellenos. Both were delish. The Guac was also very good. A bit pricey but you know that going in

Ate here last month, it was so good, if you like Mexican you have to try it when in Seattle. All 3 of us loved our meals and drinks. Service was spot on. Great vibe in the place as well.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Carnitas and Pancakes dish on the brunch menu. Sweet and savory with a hint of jalapeño to spice it up.

This place is awesome! Their food is really good. I had the Carnitas based off the server's recommendation, and it was awesome! Never had carnitas quite that good before. Drinks were a little pricey, but that's normal for this area of town. Decor was good/stylish and the staff was very friendly. Def recommend.

Stopped by for lunch and waited 10 mins before anyone acknowledged my guest and I. Once we were ready to order, it once again proved to be a challenge to hunt down our server. My guest and I ordered the steak and fish tacos. The fish taco was over battered but the steak taco was good. The food was ok for the cost. I know for sure there is better Mexican food for equal or lesser cost in the area that wont leave you sitting at your table waiting for service. I will not be returning.

We ordered from Barrio for lunch at work I had the Green Chile Braised Pork Bowl. Very tasty. A lot of food for the price.

Service not so good but the food made up for it. Original was looking for a burrito but ended up getting the steak tacos and it worked out.

My son just happened to walk by this open-air Mexican Kitchen and Bar. It was a beautiful Sunday evening. We sat at the bar and a cool breeze made for the perfect dining experience. We didn't order anything fancy, but the tacos and guacamole were great! Our bartender was attentive and the food came out quickly. I highly recommend this restaurant/bar.

We had a lovely table outside for my friends stagette dinner. Took a little while to get our drinks but the food came out very quickly and everything was perfect.

My fiance and I went here for dinner and it was great. The bar area is very comfortable and the bartenders were great and knowledgeable. A couple of our friends got there and we easily got a table by the windows. Our waiter could have been more attentive but I will say that it was quite busy in there. I'd definitely go back! ! I'd recommend the salsa bar and the Agua fresca/vodka drink!

We sat at the bar and Travis was both friendly and helpful. The nachos were a bit greasy but tasted great. Other food was very good. The Rita's hit the spot.

Fresh cilantro... Nicely presented meal, friendly waiter... Cool old world doors, fixtures, and ambiance. The combination is quite good. The food, taken all alone was pretty good, not great. I came for lunch - definitely want to try dinner!

My wife, daughter and I booked into Barrio on our last night in Seattle. Expectations were high as this place is busy and has a great vibe. We were seated at our table at 7.35 and our meals did not arrive for over an hour after we placed our orders. People on the table next to ours arrived after us but received their meals before us. This put a distinct negative tone on the night. The food was good but not outstanding.

I have been going here for a couple of years. Great neighborhood spot. Love the decor and setup of the restaurant. If you are with a group of people split the nachos they don’t disappoint. It’s a been awhile, but their brunch is also extremely good. Try the pork belly Benedict very decadent.

I loved the atmosphere of this place. Everything is so beautiful and inviting. We went for happy hour that went until 6. They had some great drinks and foods available but nothing out of this world.

Stopped in for some appetizers n drinks. We sat outside which was great for people watching. Guacamole n calamari were delicious.

Barrio has an extensive menu of deliciously prepared Mexican food, attractively presented. The bar is a centerpiece of the restaurant, which is located in the very popular Pine-Pike corridor. The cocktail list is extensive and we were thrilled to see the pisco sours on the menu. Fun place, a little on the loud side on a Saturday night, but overall a great addition to the restaurant scene in this neighborhood.

Mexican restaurants seem a bit thin on the ground on Seattle. Barrio, about fifteen minutes' walk from downtown, is the best that I found during my February 2016 visit. Service was spot-on, the food was really good, they accommodated a large (22 person) party during my visit with my colleagues, and best of all there's a really great drinks list with some exquisite mezcals and tequilas. Gotta dig that!

We went here after a long day of exploring the city and we were very impressed! The atmosphere is awesome, and the good was excellent! The Ceviche was amazing! Our waiter was very nice and the staff were gracious and friendly. I highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a great restaurant in Capital Hill!

We came for lunch on a rainy, January Monday. It was not crowded. This is a newish but rustic looking restaurant and bar. It's on 12th Ave. near Seattle U. I had the beer-battered rock cod burrito and my wife had the beer-battered rock cod bowl -- pretty similar -- crisp cabbage, fresh tomato salsa, chipotle aïoli and crema. This may be the best fish taco-class dish that I've had. I highly recommend. The windows are retractable like garage doors so I plan to come back in the spring when they are open.

Barrio is housed in a fun, lively space with lots of seating options. Ever hungry, we ordered a number of dishes that the waiter timed perfectly. The mini steak tartare tacos were a delicious start and the grilled corn had the most delicious cotija cheese. From there, we enjoyed the Pork Al Pastor Tacos and finished with the Chipotle Chicken Enchiladas. Each of the salsas we tried was better than the last and we agreed the green sauce was delicious. We each had a few classic margarita's which were delicious and made with fresh lime juice. Be aware that at certain times of the day, the light from the open windows/doors can be directly on your table.

We have been to Barrio numerous times and each time we have been pleased -- until our last visit. Something was definitely different in the kitchen. But we will give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. Usually the nachos with smoked mushrooms and quesadilla cheese are to die for (this time there were WAY TOO MANY jalapeños included). Usually other items are delicious too (this time butternut squash soup was ho hum and the quesadilla with smoked mushrooms for $5 extra was just so-so).

Went to dinner there to celebrate a graduation. We were a party of five and had great seating at a round, private booth in the back. We loved it. The overall restaurant is quite loud, but only added to the 'celebration' for us. Might want to pick a different place if you are looking for a quiet dinner for two. The food was wonderful, great flavor sand truly gourmet Mexican cuisine. Great margarita selection ( as it should be). Ambience is very cool with an entire wall of candles. Service was friendly and excellent. You won't be disappointed if you like good food and a lively atmosphere!

We were there for Happy Hour. The House Sangria on the cocktail menu did not taste like the usual punch but actually had punch. My friend raved about the House Margarita. We shared small plates as follows: roasted beets taco (our favorite), carnitas spare ribs (4 large), and 3 cheeses. The guacamole (with chips) was quite tasty. For dessert we splurged with 2 smoked salt caramels each. Needless to say we felt very satisfied not only with the drinks and food but with the surprisingly moderate price. I might add that the service was outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive, polite, and patient.

Barrio is located on Capitol Hill which is a little over a mile from Pike's Place Market. The decor was interesting with a Gaudi inspired bar which reminded us our trips to Spain. My daughter ordered a blood orange margarita and thought it had good flavor. My bellini with prickly pear was absolutely terrible. It was a bright pink and I could not taste any of the sparkling wine. Two sips and I couldn't drink any more. We ordered a side of papas bravas and was surprised to see a bowl of fried potatoes and no sauce which is always on papas bravas. We ate a few and that was it. The guacamole was delicious as well as the homemade salsa. Usually, the salsa is complimentary but they charge $3 for a small bowl. We shared the Al Pastor tacos which consisted of marinated pork tenderloin, pineapple and red onions and the Tinga de Pollo which was chipotle braised pulled chicken, slaw, avocado and colija cheese. To be honest, both were rather dry and just not flavorful. We were so disappointed in our meals and will not recommend or return.

I admit I don't like mexican food that much, but we decided to have dinner here because it was the only place open till late. Apart from the dish I ordered (which wasn't anything special), the staff was rude and slow. However, great Margarita and I loved all those candles.

The food was pretty good the service was sub par to say the least. We waited a log time to get a drink. Then when we ordered a second drink he brought it when we were finished. Why would I want it then. We addressed it withthe waiter who merely shrugged.

Stopped in here on a whim before heading to airport. The food and drinks were amazing, like crazy good! I had the chicken burrito with salsa verde. I wanted to lick the plate. My husband had a steak and a chicken taco which he said was fantastic. I also will try to recreate their chilcano cocktail - pisco and ginger beer rocks!

Atmosphere is great and nice Bar area. Food is okay-ish, not very special or no fine flavors. Good for team outings.

Not the best Mexican food I have enjoyed, but it was good. Ingredients were fresh and well plated. The chicken was a bit dry and the Verde sauce was not as spicy as I prefer but it was tasty. As several other reviews say, the service is underwhelming and the prices are at the high end for the food. All and all still a nice lunch.

Hosted an impromptu happy hour at this restaurant this week. Only 6 people, but a happy hour nonetheless. We landed here at around 4:00PM, on a week day, so there was no wait for a table. The service / server was right on us, with menu's, drink orders, conversation, etc. His service was very fast, we had our drinks before we knew it. Good job team! The Beer selection (my usual) was small, but I had a Diamond Knot IPA, that I had "knot" tried yet, and it was really good (Flagstate IPA). The rest of the crew ordered caparinha's (sp??), which they said were really good, and had a good amount of liquor in them. The Food! Wow, I had a couple of their Tacos, Chicken & Salmon. These were amazing, great authentic favors, hot, good sized portions, really good stuff! We also ordered the street corn, it was really good! They portioned out the two orders for our group of 6. Everyone loved it. We had the Guacamole, Salsa, Pico appetizer, which was fantastic. Great flavor in the gauc. All in all, this place was really good, I plan to go back with my wife, as I wouldn't hesitate to spend my own money here. Great job! Cheers, KM

I like the menu, the staff and the space as well as the neighborhood. But though the menu was promising, the execution of the food was really disappointing. The margaritas, supposedly special, were just ok. Good, but not worth rushing over here for. Our serving person was very efficient, hard-working and friendly. But I won't be running back.

We recently had dinner at Barrio with another couple. We had a bit of a hard time finding the front door, but were glad we persevered. The restaurant serves Mexican themed cuisine in a comfortable atmosphere. Our appetizers included the nachos and cauliflower. We had various tacos and enchiladas for our entrees and we ordered the churros, Mexican Sundae, and creme brûlée for our desserts. Our server was helpful and attentive, and our food was excellent all around. Prices were reasonable for upscale Mexican.

If you like Mexican food, you need to stop what you are doing and eat here right now. The food melts your face. The chairs are robust, heavy and comfortable. Iron a half inch thick armors walls. Candles in iron alcoves create a wall up to the high ceilings. Cool interior. Walking in here you might think you were about to bust your wallet. You're not. You can get a good meal for 12 bucks, so you'll have plenty to spare on their vast selection of tequila. Their salsa selection I found to be robust but one of my friends said the hot sauce could have been spicier. It was too much for me but I don't like it hot. Their menu might be a bit light for vegetarians, but their beans and slaw are pretty amazing even as sides. So your vegetarian friends won't beat you up for choosing this place. Next time I go, I'm getting a few burritos for the road.

We stumbled across this gem while wandering in Seattle and we were so pleased we did. Amazing trendy vibe, cool decor and fantastic food and very attentive and knowledgeable server. I would recommend this to any one who wants a fun brunch spot for amazing food with modern Mexican flair! DELICIOUS! Thanks to all for our sunday visit a few weeks back!

Great Mexican food. Very tasteful, with just enough heat. The guacamole is very good, and the salsa is fresh and spicy. I had the Pozole soup which was excellent and the chicken enchiladas were a great match. The ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for the location, also not too noisy. Service was great. Only possible downside is the price. Not to say that it is too expensive but on the higher end for Mexican places, especially compared to a place like El Borracho. That being said, it is the best tasting Mexican I've had in town, hands down, and I think worth the premium cost.

Monday nights all Mezcal is 50% off. This place has the best Mezcal selection in town hands down in town and the staff is extremely knowledgeable about all things agave. If you are interested in Mezcal, you have to visit here on a Monday night. You'll get to try some really rare spirits that may normally be too expensive. They also do a really authentic Mezcal Margarita and use traditional Worm Salt on the rim. So so good. The food is also very tasty and it's just a fun experience from start to finish. If you go on Monday, ask for Casey, he is the MAN when it comes to Mezcal!

Everything I've had here has been amazing but the Pork Belly Benedict is truly astonishing! I was skeptical with the ingredient list... but found it to be a perfect symphony of flavor.

I've been there for lunch time with my son and friends. The menu is quite short in options. But the food was surprisingly good!!! It was tasty, great size, and the service was also a high point!!

We winter in New Mexico, so this might seem like a strange choice when visiting Seattle. The food was excellent -- we were so impressed we cancelled reservations elsewhere so we could eat here again. Its described as "modern Mexican" which fits. So you can order carne asada with flair, or something unique such as vegetable cazuela (highly recommended). We had two family dinners here and everyone loved there food. The restaurant has very high ceilings and would seem cavernous without their excellent use of candles to make it inviting.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday here-fantastic ambiance, delicous food, excellent service in the super happening Cap Hill neighborhood.

We hit the restaurant on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is great with cool shelves of candles everywhere and a beautiful long, twisty bar up the center. The night got off to the wrong foot one of the two bartenders, as he didn't seem to know anything about the drinks. We specified what we were each looking for, and asked for recommendations on interesting cocktails of various profiles. The first two he recommended (in a Mexican tequileria!) were a Pisco sour and then a Pimms Cup! We declined. We eventually had margaritas (regular and strawberry) figuring we couldn't go wrong. They were fine. Literally just fine. Too bad as I expected more in a place specializing in tequila and mezcal and would have drank a lot more with the right service. The food, however, was excellent! We started with the albacore/pomegranate crudo. It was very good. I thought it could have used a touch more acid, but the fruit was spot on. Next we had the braised pork taquitos. They were crispy on the outside, with flavourful meat inside. They were a touch dry, but the sauces that came them were full flavoured and made up for it. Lastly we had the spice rubbed duck tacos - my partner was less impressed as they were spicy, but I thought they were perfect. There was a nice slow burn and solid duck and cherry flavours. There was no room for dessert, and the price was reasonable for the three full dishes. I'd recommend this if in Seattle! Worth making the trip to the area! Just get some better help with the drinks...

I have NEVER had such amazing food! I was with a party of 7 and everyone loved their food choices. I had the nachos with flank steak And I will never be able to eat nachos any place else. They were that outstanding. It makes me wish I lived on Capital Hill! But our son does and we will definitely be going back to Barrio to eat again. Not only was the food amazing but so was the service. Our waiter was attentive but not obtrusive. We always had plenty of water. Our food came out at the same time and it was all hot and marvelous! My husband had the pork burrito which was wonderful. My sons had the fish tacos and the pork burrito bowl. My grandson scarfed down his huge burrito in no time. And did I mention the salsa and guacamole....absolutely the best. The spices they use are spot on and perfectly blended. I am 69 and have had Mexican food all over this country and in Mexico and I have NEVER had anything better. I highly recommend the restaurant and it is well worth going out of your way to dine there. Enjoy! Great job, Barrio!!!

We ate dinner here tonight and it was fantastic. The hubs likes spicy and I don't, so we asked for some recommendations from the server. We ended up with chips and guac, summer squash, shrimp enchilada starter and pork carnitas. They were all phenomenal. The pork carnitas were so tasty that we didn't even want to put them in the handmade tortillas. That plus one beer was $55--not cheap, but definitely super tasty. Served was great, and we had a table by the open windows--great for people watching.

An amazing location with wonderful people, beautiful setting and excellent drinks! This place is all about the rum and tequila - so make sure you enjoy it! Yum!

Ordered the carne which was basically a steak fajitas and the tastes of all the food was good just a little bit cold. So was not overly impressed with food but service at bar was great and overall atmosphere was great.

We were looking for a Mexican restaurant and found this one online. We did not have a reservation but were able to get a table (restaurant was not crowded but they had many tables reserved for later). We were seated behind a concrete pillar and it took over 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged by our server. Took another 5-10 minutes until we received our drinks. Food took at least 25 minutes to come out after that (nachos and tacos). I love to eat hot things but my steak tacos were way to spicy to enjoy and my daughter could hardly eat her nachos. The waiter never checked back (I had to flag him down for drink refills). The restaurant itself was absolutely stunning with hundreds of candle and industrial touches but overall we were disappointed.

Our server made a great recommendation for a red wine blend from Portugal (a wine that was new to us). She was very knowledgeable re the menu. The place is very noisy. The crowd and staff are very young. The food was very good. We chose the Shrimp Cazuela & Traditional Pork Shoulder Carnitas. Portions are substantial (we couldn't finish everything). Good food, but the place is not conducive to a quiet, romantic dinner.

I try to make a stop here every time I go to Seattle. The food is good, the ambiance is great, and the margaritas are top notch. If you sit at the bar, you'll have some good conversations with the bartenders and your neighbors. Definitely stop in here!

Good place to eat some good Mexican food. Loved the Tacos, Carnitas, Margaritas and the tequillas. very enjoyable. Fresh and tasty. Friendly service is a bonus ofcourse.
Amazing spot for brunch
The most delicious eggs benedict (with a difference) and yummy tortilla chips and salsa. Great vibe on weekends! They have good cocktails, and an overwhelming array of tequilas! Great spot for big or small groups. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
