Just the right amount of excellent food

By Tony S |

I took my wife here for her birthday and she was skeptical. Not afterwards. The portions were great. She had a quail pasta in a cheese sauce and I had black cod. Both were done to perfection. The street can be noisy so the first guest get put upstairs which is nice. The atmosphere is relaxing. Highly recommend a try.

Very nice Valentine's Day experience

By 45ronaldm |

Great food, nice outdoor seating. Not inexpensive, but just right for a special occasion. The staff was excellent and took great care of us.

We LOVED our dinner!

By David L |

Our first visit to this little Italian restaurant in Venice. The owner, Tony, was very gracious and helpful and made us feel at home with family. We started with the Watercress Salad and were very happy with our choice. Next, my wife had the Octopus as a main course and I had the Black-Ink Linguini both were GREAT. Our friends both had the special bolognaise and left empty plates. We will definitely be back.

Awesome food and service

By Pedro D |

We had a great time at Barrique yesterday and highly recommend it. The octopus starter is very good, it immediately reminded us of similar dishes in Valencia. And the Quail pasta is awesome. We loved the Rabbit pasta as well but I personally think that the sweet present in it kills a bit the strong good flavor. But if you like sweet mixed on the food you will love it. Dont be scared of the wine list size and prices, simply ask for a good Italian wine recommendation in your budget and they will find a good match. Hope to come back some day!

Gorgeous space, wonderful atmosphere, delicious food

We hadn't been back in 6 month and were so happy last night. Great service. Great food. Super romantic. Go!

Fun house setting, bustling vibe, good but unremarkable food

By Steven K |

Great casual atmosphere with friendly service and good wine by the glass. The food -- we split a salad and had John Dory (special) and tuna tartare for mains -- were perfectly fine but unexceptional. I'd go back to try it one more time, but would need to see something more exciting from the food to try it a third time.

Wonderful Food/Wonderful Setting

By JAH_Chicago_Paris |

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. This is an upscale restaurant located in an old house. There is a very quaint outdoor patio and deck for dining. When we arrived, our table wasn't quite ready and immediately they offered us all a free drink as we waited. Our table was ready in literally 5 minutes! We ate indoors and the interior was beautiful. Their menu offered many wonderful dishes and we were all extremely satisfied with our choices. Given the coziness of this restaurant, I would think reservations are required. If you are in the mood for excellent italian food and a very special evening I would highly recommend Barrique. Enjoy!

Great food and hospitality

By David E |

Don't be surprised if you drive by it, or shocked when you feel like you accidentally walked into the back entrance for the kitchen. They will whisk you upstairs to a charming dining room that will not disappoint. Olive oil was fantastic (afraid I never gave the bread a fair chance). Definitely allow them to help you pick a wine, he's drunk everything in the cellar, and will help you find the right bottle at the right price. As for the food, it was impeccable (and not American sized). The quail ragu sounded interesting, and on inquiring was recommended as a specialty, i generally avoids red sauces, so glad rules were meant to be broken. So delicate yet with a full mouth feel. Very well balanced. Everyone at the table wished we could come back tomorrow to try the other fabulous options that never graced our table. Only downside was we asked for desserts to share that didn't have cocoa or chocolate (for one of our guests), and we were promised two great choices. Unfortunately the kitchen used cocoa on one as decoration, and we had to help her by eating the top for her. The sacrifice. Btw traditional European service, they will not hurry you out, and leave you at peace at the table. After dessert/coffee, if you want anything else, or the check, you will need to ask for it. (Thank you) Will be back.

Bombastic - Fantastic

By JuergKaufmann |

High quality Italian food, decent wine list and superbe staff. Very warm, homy atmosphere. And even great value for money.

Outstanding -- but bring a full wallet, especially for the wine

By Wyomite |

My adult son and I enjoyed a dinner together at Barrique in Venice Beach (LA). The building occupied by the restaurant is an old, yellow house, but with some outside seating on a patio on the ground floor or on a terrace on the second floor. We sat outside on the terrace, which was inconvenient for the servers but comfortable and private for us. We shared each other's appetizer orders of octopus and scallops, respectively, and found both to be well-prepared and delicious. There our paths separated, with my son having a pasta dish while I tried an evening special dish, a bone-in veal chop. My son raved about his pasta, and I know from first hand experience that the veal chop was perfectly done, a nice portion and with very tasty side dishes as well. Service was both friendly and competent. We would change nothing about our outstanding dining experience, except perhaps the size of the check (which, to be honest, was weighed down by the cost of the wine we selected).

Fantastic and authentic Italian gem!

By Intihuasi |

This must be one of the best restaurants in the US. The Barrique is a very small and cozy location with rustic interior. The owner is a friendly and funny Italian who truly loves the craft of creating wonderful Italian dishes. They have a huge wine list with many delicious Italian wines, including the Alteo, one of the best Amarones out there. We were lucky to catch a moment in time where he has a fresh and gigantic truffle. Starter, main and desert were incredibly delicious, and the friendly and funny service made the evening truly perfect. If you have the opportunity: go there!

Good food, great service

By markmBigSur |

Very simple menu with a some nice choices. Two shared plates: house pasta and a Spanish ham with burrata and gigs; both an A. The mains dishes: ribeye, trout, and branzino. The seafood was a B+/A but the ribeye disappointed (a subpar cut for the money). The waiter recommended the filet... should have listened. Wine and deserts were an A... but the experience was an A+ because of the service... It's a good vibe with good food.

Small but mighty

By Manuela G |

Chef Antonio Mure' definitely knows his Italian food! I had a delicious dinner here that dipped into the Sicilian and Emilia Romagna cuisines, well presented and paired with great wines. The place is small but, if the weather is nice, the outdoor tables are fine and the service is attentive and prompt. For sure a restaurant to try if one is in the Venice area but also worth the trip from wherever one is in LA.

It is creepy that the staff is standing around you at all times while you eat!

By mmsc40 |

We ate upstairs. This is a cute little house that they (over) try to keep everything on point. They hoover in the corner sometimes 3 or 4 people -ready to swoop on your table with your last bite.I felt like every conversation we had was over heard by this group. It was creepy. The food was very good. They have a 1 bottle BYO wine- BUT a one bottle limit with a $35.00!!!! Corkage fee...

Bravo Barrique!

By Posiblonde |

I took my aunt to Barrique to celebrate her birthday. I wanted to treat her to somewhere special, where we could try some new dishes but also where we would feel at home. Barrique was the perfect choice. Literally set in a house, it is so cozy and inviting, and Antonio and his staff greeted us with open arms. We sat downstairs where there are only 3 tables, and it was charming. We lucked out as it was truffle season, so we ordered the Grilled Scallops (served on a bed of Parmesan Fondue topped with Black Truffle- beautifully cooked and the fondue sauce was sublime), the special house-made Fettucine with White Truffles (gorgeous!) and the Pappardelle Sautéed with Rabbit Ragu, Prunes, in a Marsala Porcini mushrooms sauce-superb. The watercress salad with hearts of palm was also fresh and delicious! We were well taken care of by the staff, and my aunt had a memorable birthday. We highly recommend Barrique! Bravo!

Delicious squid ink pasta

By Aritta Giampuzzi |

My husband and I went to Barrique to celebrate my bday and the food was outstanding. The chef came to our table to make sure everything was fine, which was very nice of him. We ordered squid ink pasta and it was one of the best we have ever had. Can’t wait to go back!

One of the best restaurants in Venice

By Francesca1980116 |

We arrived there by chance and it was a wonderful surprise. Excellent Italian food and great wine list in a romantic environment. The personnel is extremely kind and pleasant. Absolutely recommended!

Good food. Noisy

By Ferros66 |

The food is really good. However, the patio was extremely noisy at a point that it made difficult to converse. Service was really good too

Good Italian food & great vibe

By Mtbellini |

Dinner was very good. Fresh and tasty with a decent selection of entrees. Portions were on a smaller scale so definitely worth ordering an appetizer. The restaurant is located in a house and has a cool vibe. We happen to be upstairs and the noise level was a bit crazy since it was busy so if your looking for a romantic dinner you would need to be seated outside or possibly downstairs with fewer tables. Would definitely go again!

impressively delicious

By uesnna |

If I lived near here I would bring all of my friends here, but probably only one or two at a time because the place is tiny and "intimate". We wanted to order our first course while we decided on the main course, but were told we had to order all at once because the kitchen is small and the chefs need to know what to prepare. That was fine,we were on the first floor and could watch all of the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. Every dish was top notch. I decided to drink sparkling wine by the glass, priced at a reasonable $10. Love this restaurant!

Perfect atmosphere and quality

By paluap |

Very athmospheric and cosy restaurant with very nice and pleasant people who work there. Food was delicious!

Warm service, fab food and Italian charm

By JVDZ7 |

This was a very fortunate find. We are visiting Santa Monica Pier and skipped lunch. By 4:30 our teens were done with site seeing and hungry enough to eat me unless suitable alternative was provided and quickly. I did a quick check and this place looked appealing. I called them and they were able to accommodate. Food was really good and they accommodated allergies and dietary restrictions very well. Both hostess and owner were gracious and charming. I’d like to go back and try other dishes on the menu. Duck, fish crudo and pasta with truffles were the favorites

Super Italian in Venice Beach

By papasympa |

Small Italian restaurant in the Venice Beach neighborhood that I highly recommend. We find a lot of “locals” arriving what seems to be a good sign. All this is confirmed with the quantity of service and the quality of the dishes. Excellent pasta with gambas ... Discover!!!

Absolutely wonderful

By Diana R |

Wonderful in every way. We had duck ragout pasta, wild boar pasta, and grilled Ocean trout and shared an arugula salad ( enough for 3 of us) and everything was hot, flawlessly served, and perfectly prepared. Excellent wine by the glass, too. The quiet patio space with propane warmers was comfortable and relaxing. Highly recommended.

The Best of Italian food in Venice/Los Angeles CA

By TravelINTaiste |

This place (home/converted restaurant) serves the best fresh and authentic Italian food in the area. We tried four different dishes and all were spectacular! Black pasta with fresh crab was my fav. Leave room for dessert and be ready to drink some good wines. Services is superb. Make reservation in advance.

Excellent

By Cricketdad |

Great atmosphere and lovely food. The wine was also really good and well chosen. Small portions but just enough. A great find.

Dinner for 4 family members

By DanDDS3386 |

Excellent! Great food, great service, one of the best restaurants I have dined in. I was actually surprised at the bill, it was less than I imagined it would be. Not cheap, but a wonderful value. The staff genuinely made us feel like family.

Simply perfect

By Onur C |

It was our 2nd time here. All the folks recognized us and we had a fabolous time. Everything was perfect. Food, service, envoirment.... Thank you Paulo! (Onur & Nazli from Switzerland) :) see you again next year

Little gem of an Italian

By Alex G |

Beautiful little restaurant in Venice. The food is really well prepared Italian fare. Great pasta and traditional dishes. The place is really fun too. Small and intimate, with great lighting and friendly staff. Felt very authentic.

Good italian restaurant

By Tom 13200 |

We sat at the Ground Floor table opposite the kitchen, great for parties of 8-12 but of course you get the noise of the kitchen. We had delicious sea bass and also pasta dishes. Service was friendly and quite fast. The wine list is strange as 95% Italian with a predominance of top growth expensive wines, may Barolos and Brunellos, Sassicaia, but lack of some basic Italians. Not very balanced, maybe the owner's hobby? Overall good, but nothing special.

Delicious food and perfect service!

By Annemie R |

The first proper Italian food I have ever eaten in the US and even for italian standards very refined and high quality! The servers are very helpful, the place very cosy with a nice terace. Just perfect!

Great food and service

By Ragnvald G |

The carpaccio with shaved black truffles was amazing. Likewise the lobster pasta and the quail ragout pasta. Service was great and the atmosphere wonderful. Also we loved the special wines from their wine cellar. We had a fabulous time and will be back when we come to Venice next time.

Wow

By J J L |

Located in an old house on Main St. just off the Abbot Kinney Blvd 'strip' - I'd describe as charming, cozy, local and romantic rolled into one. Great service, wine and awesome fresh Italian food. The Tagliolini Rossi is best summed up by stating 'more please' wow great experience will be back next trip - thanks Antonino for making so memorable. Cheers

Excellent Authentic Little Place!!!

By travelqueenme |

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by an Italian host and our waiter spoke with a heavy Italian accent. We forgot we were in the US and felt like we were in Italy. The service was excellent-above and beyond. The food we tried was delicious-veal, halibut, homemade pastas-wild boar top notch, rabbit pasta, even the salads were out of this world. they also have valet parking for $10. We can’t wait to come back.

Amarone by the glass!!

By PatHel7 |

A converted house in Venice CA. Family-run atmosphere, very relaxed for an upmarket restaurant. Interesting variations of traditional dishes ( Veal Ravioli). Huge starter of antipasto . Amarone by the glass, 20 dollars per large glass, the bottle opened at the table.I have not seen that before. Attentive staff but not intrusive in my opinion. Probably only just value for money but the atmosphere tips the scale in favour. And the Amarone.

This is one of our favorite local spots.

By Isenn |

Beautiful food and probably our favorite staff in Venice. It's like a little slice of Italy tucked into a charming old Venice craftsmen. We usually let the staff recommend the dishes and prefer to go with the specials because they are always great. let them choose your wine for you too. The choices are wonderful.

Good food and service but impossible to hear anything

By Michael M |

The food is very good (4 out of 5), as is service. The noise level, though, even on a Tuesday, is such “high energy” that it is impossible to even have a simple conversation with your dinner companion. The wine selection is greater than the focused food menu. The octopus was delicately flavored and very tender. Both pastas were good and, again, delicately flavored. Desserts were better than the main courses. Wine pairings worked well. Total for one appetizer (octopus), two pastas, wine desserts and dessert wine was ~$230 for two with tax and tip.

Italian food

By massave00 |

Great italian restaurant. . Good cuisine. A little bit pricy wine list but food worth it. Tiramisu and panacotta were great

Many other good restaurants close by

By RRE2400 |

Did not have pleasant welcome when we arrived 10 minutes early for res. Waited total of 25 minutes for a table. Menu selection was not veggie or gluten free friendly. Portions were very small. Wine by the glass was $22, w/ very mediocre pour. My sparkling water was filled up with tap water when wasn't looking. No price was supplied for the fish special which was $39 when bill came. However, the food was tasty. Thought it was overpriced. I won't return.

Nice, tiny restaurant

By Judy g |

We had a great meal here and really enjoyed not only the food, but the staff and service. The space is really small and I imagine it can get very crowded, but it's so worthwhile. We all enjoyed our meals, the fish special was wonderful and the pasta with quail ragout was really wonderful. The staff was friendly and so attentive, we felt very welcomed there. I think that's an important part of the experience and I very much appreciate that attention. Great wine list, also.

Oh my! The emperor's clothes.

By gogo1951 |

Had Barrique on our "eat there" list for quite a while. Finally made it on a chilly LA night. Pretty and intimate place but was put off by the fact that it was very chilly inside because they wanted to keep the door open to serve the few outside tables (which had great heaters) (none inside). My wife is breastfeeding and gets cold easily. They could not do anything and would not close the door. We ordered four dishes from the interesting but relatively limited menu with guidance from our server who seemed well versed on the food. Imagine our surprise when, over the course of two visits back to us, we learned that of the four dishes ordered they were out of three! of them. It was early in the evening so they had not run out that night and other than "sorry about that" we heard no reason (like: "the products available to us today were not up to our standards"). The place was pretty full by the time we left and we thought the food average at best. People around the room were obviously entranced to be there and, as noted in the caption, proclaiming how wonderful the Emperor's new clothes were. Note: if you don't get the reference you were deprived of rich fairy tail literature early in life.

Never again

By JasperW1 |

We ordered 3 courses and every next course was served during the previous course. All 3 courses were served in a timeframe of 15 minutes. I got my third course after I only finished half a glas of wine. And allthough we had a lot of wine left, they brought the check while we were still eating. After that we ordered coffee, so they had to change the bill again. The bill was 311 for the 2 of us, but as soon as we were about to pay, they changed the bill again. This time they added 60$ for tips, probably worried we wouldn't tip enough. They were really pushing us to try to leave as possible, while we still had half a bottle of wine left. In total we only spent 1hour and 15 minutes in this place.

Great food, but upstairs: so dang loud...

By Akimbeau |

This is an 'enfatico' place, authentic Italian in a very good way. Chef-driven, brisk and informed wait staff, house made pastas, some exquisite dishes and a good wine list. The location is hip (Main Street, Venice) and quaint (little bungalow converted into a candle-lit restaurant). But if you're going and you value table conversation, here's the pro tip: when you book **insist** on sitting downstairs. (Not the patio, which is an option, but is a sort of sad affair.) We were 4, upstairs (the larger seating area) and the noise level was crazy. So crazy in fact, when it was no longer possible to converse at a normal voice level, my husband (music industry guy) took out his iPhone decibel meter. The room noise peaked in the red continuously (that's 80+ decibels...nuts). And this was a Tuesday night (!?!). It appeared to us the great food brought out parties of extra-exuberants who were trying to out do each other with their giddy, explosive repartee. We gobbled dessert (also delicious) and fled. Kind of a bummer, considering we're super foodies and the eating was great. Go and enjoy...but you've been warned! :)

Oh wow! Top Italian in LA.

By AlicjafromLausanne |

Absolutely delicious everything. Best Italian in LA and small portion sizes which is great. Carpaccio, pastas, quality of wine, could eat more. More things in the menu when you ask the waiter. It is expensive but worth its experience. we paid USD 340 for four, with good bottle of wine. Very cozy seating. One small thing was that the lighting was not not sufficient (well, it is romantic though) but it was hard to read the menu without an iPhone light:-)

Initiate Italian spot in old house

By Shanelle |

Intimate Italian spot in Venice. Came here for my friend’s birthday dinner and we had a prefixe menu, with shared apps and desserts, and chosen entrees. The burrata and the salad were both good, but my favorite was the tuna tartare. I had the branzino for my entree; it’s good if you have a lighter appetite. I preferred the bolognese that had al dente pasta with a hearty sauce. The rigatoni was the vegetarian friendly option and was solid. For dessert, I liked the opera cakes which came with two small pieces. This spot is good for date nights and I suggest opting to sit outside. Street parking available. There is one restroom inside on the ground floor and another upstairs.

Little nugget

By Catherine R |

Very nice discovery, refined Italian cuisine in a very warm setting. The dishes, made with very good quality ingredients, are tasty; very good Italian wines; romantic atmosphere. Recommended if you want to have fun

Make sure you keep your receipt!

By Daniel T |

Great atmosphere and friendly service, mainly from the waiters though. We ordered a number of different things off menu. Some were average and others good. Portion sizes are very small (even from perspective of a healthy family that normally struggles to fully finish most restaurant meals). Very good wine list. However, completely untrustworthy and fraudulent restaurant. The transaction amount shown on statement the following day did not match authorised bill amount paid on the evening. Restaurant added a further approximate 20% themselves after leaving. Chase bank have fortunately confirmed this and refunded the difference, and are now investigating this as fraud.

Great food in a toy house

By mona B |

Excellent food, probably best scallops I ever had. The octopus was great as well. The place is too small and crowded however, and they only had table cloth on 2 of the tables. Not a place for dessert, I guess they need a new chef for that.

Good food, cool atmosphere

By smiledr69 |

Took my mom here for her 81'st bday. Staff was wonderful, very nice setting in an old home in Venice. Food was excellent but slightly pricey. Foi grais very good, lobster ravioli was good, steak very good. Good dessert. Will go back.

Excellent food!

By dr1family |

We dined twice in the past week at Barrique. The first evening, Antonio and Tony were directing the show and their attentiveness to the cuisine, service and assistance with wine selection were outstanding. The second night was a holiday and a night off for the owners but all of the elements were just as terrific (bravo, Paolo!). Between the two evenings our group enjoyed 5 different appetizers (the seared foie gras special barely edged the other amazing dishes - scallops, octopus, prosciutto, and caprese - for top ranking). The signature beet pasta dish was even better than advertised. Main courses of boar, filet mignon, salmon, ocean trout and duck were all perfectly prepared and delicious. Deserts were different each evening and scrumptious. The wine selections across such a variety of dishes were spot on. We enjoyed dining downstairs the first night with a bit of a view of the kitchen, and upstairs the second night with the table candlelights.

Great Italian food! Kids friendly!

By KestasKS |

Besides, you can speak here Italian too :). The atmosphere was great, felt like at home, friendly. Service is attentive and casual at the same time. Food was great! We did enjoy tuna tartar, kids were really happy with home made fettuccine with salsa di pomodoro(yes, not funny sauce or ketchup), meats and fish that we had was really good too. We topped it with a proper chocolate lava cake! And proper espresso!

Great Italian Chef and cuisine.

By Pizzaexplorer |

This isn’t a casual place, it’s a top notch Italian Chef who creates some unique as well as traditional Italian food. Atmosphere is cozy and it is small upstairs, but the food is amazing!

Swanky and tasty

By Jenny from Santa Cruz |

I went here on a dinner with work colleagues. I didn't take the bill, so I can't say about the price. The service was swanky. The food was tasty if also a little more fussy than I'd pick on my own.

Amazing food from a Michelin Star restaurant

By regis k |

This little yellow house restaurant produces amazing food. It does live up to its Michelin Star status. During this COVID-19 time, the restaurant sets up outdoor dining which added extra romantic vibes and charms to the dining scene. With candle lights, we felt the food tasted extra delicious. We came here to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and the restaurant was extra accommodating as we arrived earlier than our reservation time. The service was excellent. We were given recommendations with wine and food selection. We ordered two appetizers that included their famous Grilled Octopus served with Smoked potato, Green Beans and an Aioli Dressing. The flavor was so pleasing to our taste palates. The other appetizer we got was the 18-Months Black Label Prosciutto di Parma and Burrata Cheese. I have to say this one of the best prosciutto dish I have ever had. The prosciutto was perfectly cured and flavor was unbelievably delicious. For our main dishes, I got the Homemade Pappardelle noodle served with Rabbit Ragu' Prunes and Porcini Sauce. The pasta was cooked al dente to my liking which is an indication or authentic Italian cooking. The taste of the sauce was out of this world. The rest of the family ordered Home-Made Red Beet Tagliolini Pasta in a Marsala Quail Ragú served on a bed of Taleggio Cheese Fondue, Home-Made Black Ink Linguine sautéed with Lobster and Wild Mushrooms, and the Home-Made Cacao Tagliatelle with an Amarone Wild Boar Ragú. These are all fabulous dishes. My family liked them a lot and gave praises for their flavor and taste. We didn’t get any desserts as we had a cake at home for the birthday celebration. We will be back to try them. We had a very satisfied birthday girl after the meal.

Italiano

By MR DB |

Dined at Barrique tonight and it was fantastico. A proper Italian in Venice, who’d of thought it! We have eaten in Amalfi, Puglia, Bologna and Venice, Italy. Barrique, in Venice, California was equal to all of these destinations. A little more expensive but worth it.q

Great Views - Service Issues

By Joseph D |

This is a complicated review to write since I would give it a 5 for food and a 2 for overall service. Let’s start with the positive. I had the Grilled Octopus which was prepared perfectly and for dinner the Black Ink Linguine with Lobster and Wild Mushrooms which was also outstanding. Now for the not so great comment. First I want to say my server was very good and no issues with him. My issue is that I was seated by the host at a table that was at the top of the stairs. I was caught by surprised and didn’t even know what to say. I have attached a picture to show the proximity of my table to the stairs and understand that guest coming and going as well as the waiters had to constantly navigate going by me. This could have been a 5 rating but I just can’t do it based on this sloppy management of tables.

Great Restaurant

By Bob C |

We had a great dinner here last month. The food was prepared to order and the wait staff very accommodating. The atmosphere was very inviting and warm. Even though the restaurant was busy we could carry on a table conversation with ease.

Great restaurant

By PaoloFert |

I have been at Barrique a couple of times and it is just .....sooooooo good !!!! The Chef had several restaurant in the past and he has always delivered a great quality food. Italian food at its best!!!! Ya,it is pricy, but at least you have a great experience. The service is really good and fast.

Absolutely Outstanding

By mongolikescandy |

I really wasn't expecting to be blown away, as I'd been here before when it was Ado. But every single thing about this experience was lovely. We dined downstairs with a party of six, right next to the kitchen. You'd think that would be a detractor, but it added to the friendly, homey ambiance. Alessandro (Owner? Head chef? no idea) was our server, and he expertly guided us through wine pairings etc. Don't miss the octopus appetizer! From the branzino to the boar pasta to the fillets, every dish was stellar. AND we tried every one of their desserts because they were all so tempting we couldn't decide on only one. The restaurant is very small. Some might find it too tight, but we found it charming. They do have valet, so parking is a breeze. I'll be going back as soon as I can.

Lovely pasta

By Layuitholland |

Veggie friendly and a beautiful place with balcony in Venice. Friendly vibe even though it's a high standard place. You want to lose the flipflops for a night for this one. The wines are incredible. A perfect place to end our trip romantically.

Italian cuisine close to Venice Beach

By @alexievents |

Located between abbot kinney (venice) and santa monica, close to rose avenue (5min from the beach) you will enjoy this place I won’t recommend it if you are looking a budget friendly restaurant because if you are a wine lover, they have a great menu but maybe too pricey if you won’t share a bottle. A lot of reference are from Italy so don’t get me wrong, the wine selection is amazing! I come here maybe 2/3 times per year and usually recommend this place for food/wine/italian lover. The staff is very friendly and helpful..Reservation is recommended! You have a valet but honestly you can easily park on the street or at gold gyms:-) Regarding the menu, they have a large selection but not a lot of vegan option so before to book call them and ask about the special dishes of the day! or you might be disappointed Plates are well served (gourmet selection). Usually we took an appetizer to share, a main entree and sometimes a dessert (greedy) they used fresh products and homemade pasta. Our friends and coworkers, had never been disappointed Sometimes we saw groups and birthday celebration. I won’t recommend this place if you have some kids (of course they are allowed but I think this place is more appreciated as couple or gathering) having a fine diner, For couples, it s a nice place for a romantic moment too Enjoy

Snobby and unprofessional hostesses ruin it all

By Lan_in_NYC |

My boyfriend and I were on vacation in LA had a 7:30pm reservation for Valentine’s Day dinner today upon reading great reviews of the place. While I can’t comment on the quality of the food, I’d have to say this place is surprisingly, given that it’s not a high-end venue, one of the most snobby places I’ve been to; or, they just have idiots for hostesses. We arrived around 7:05pm. Upon entering the door, some blonde woman told us to check in with another white woman who appeared to be handling the hostess duties. As soon as I approached said hostess, we were asked to wait outside down the stairs and she would come and check us in. As we waited about 10 minutes and watched this woman greeted 3 white couples with enthusiasm and had one of them seated right away; this “hostess” made brief eye contact with me but never checked in with us. Finally I approached her and reminded her she had not checked us in, she told me “oh yeah, don’t worry, I know you were here before them( gesturing another couple who came in after us and she had acknowledged and checked in). I told her I had a reservation, and gave her my name, and without asking me how many people were in the party and for what time the reservation was, she then told me to have a seat on a couch around the corner and she would let me know when my table was ready. This did not sound convincing to me at all, and made me feel that the next time I would hear from her would be when I would chase her down again. We then promptly left the place, as we were not going to subject ourselves and our wallet to this type of disrespect. Yes, I know it was busy due to Valentine’s Day, but she was not too busy to acknowledge all the white customers who came in after we did, or seat a white couple (who appeared to be regulars) as soon as they walked through the door. So, heads up to all the foodies, unless you are white, or appear to be wealthy, this is not the place for you; do yourself a favor and go spend your hard-earned money elsewhere.

A Hidden Italian Gem in Venice Beach

By Founder of the HBS Wine & Cuisine Societ |

If you are looking for a Great Italian in Venice Beach Barrique is your place. Formerly "Ado" this charming romantic Italian restaurant with a candle light atmosphere will welcome you in an old yellow cottage house with a spacious terrace. I am really happy that this staple of Abbot Kinney has stayed around for so long. Antonio Mure is a One Michelin Star Chef who brings the cuisine of Emilia Romana to your plate! Respectful of simplicity and genuine flavors! We had fabulous Antipasti -- The Raw Scallops on a bed of fresh Burrata Langostini Tartar and Salmon Roe is a real treasure! ‎ The Grilled Octopus served with smoked potatoes and Green Aioli were perfectly seared‎! The best Octopus we had for a long time! We also had some great Pasta all Home-made! The Taglioni with Red Beet a real original dish even if you don't like beet! You should not escape the Black Squid Ink Linguine‎ sautéed with Dungeness Crab. The Sommelier Paolo Carcione ‎recommended a well balanced Bordeaux Blend San Leonardo 2008, from Trentino which was elegant. Barrique present a great wine cellar full of your Italian classics and more! You can Vallet the car for $8. The restaurant takes reservation until 9pm. For dessert we had the Moscato which is how Italians make you sing Mama Mia!

Great, friendly service, advice on the menu, amazing food and a lovely, small venue. Will definitely be heading back here.
