I had not eaten at this location since it changed it became Barlett's. While the food was good, it was not outstanding enough to make me want to come back. The service was so so. I thought the value for the meal didn't match what I got. Austin just has too many great places to eat and it just doesn't hold up for me.

Don't overorder here--the portions will fill you and perhaps give you a bit to take home. We had wine at the busy bar on a Wed. evening while we waited. There's a lot going on, but we easily could chat in our quiet booth. The decor is wood with lots of tables, booth and beams. The menu was varied in all ways, with meat, fish, and saldads. The After 5 salad, even split for two, was more than adequate and delicious: tasty beets, lots of greens and a good dressing on the side. The fish with shrimp was perfect but fish choices change often. The roasted chicken with an apricot sace was tasty and moist. We skipped tempting dessert choices. Waitstaff kept the water glasses full, and plates were hot.Everything was unusually good, not Michelin grade, but excellent!

We met friends for a recent dinner, and had an "OK" experience. The atmosphere was pleasant, albeit dark, and the server was very nice. Unfortunately, the overpriced hamburgers were served medium well, rather than medium rare (as ordered), and the replacement we waited for was more like medium. For the price charged, it would be better to get the temperature (and taste) right.

This is our absolute favorite restaurant for special occasions. Their food is unique and incredibly delicious. We have been about 8 times in the past two years and every single time has been amazing. Their waitstaff is top-notch; they are knowledgable, respectful, courteous, and above all, possess amazing product knowledge about their menu items. Finally, the manager, Eric, has been actively engaged with customers on every visit we have had. He has a great attitude and is obviously very good at what he does, from hiring to quality assurance to customer service. If you haven't been yet, you must go- this restaurant is the gold standard in the food industry!

The food was great as always but the service was so awful we didn’t tip (and that NEVER happens). I finally got a glass of wine when I was halfway through with dinner after asking three people, appetizer dishes weren’t removed, nor were dinner dishes. It took forever to place our order and get the check. This place has been a neighborhood favorite but last night was a really bad experience.

It was a little pricey for our budget but we splurged. For the price of the steak, I've had better quality. The flavor was good but it had quite a bit of gristle. The waitress brought regular bread and au ju for my gluten-free wife. It was exchanged no problem, then she brought the wrong condiments. After that she bent over backwards to make sure our meal was satisfactory. If you're looking for a place to go for a special occasion it's above average. The atmosphere is nice, the service is good.

The restaurant is located far from I live, but it's worth. I went on Saturday early evening to celebrate a friend's birthday, so, as us, lots of people gathering. First conclusion: good for families and groups for different reasons. The atmosphere is nice, sober but modern, although is the walls and wood are a bit dark, the light is nice and cozy. I had the Asian steak and noodle salad, a dish enough for my dinner, my partner had the apple wood smoked pork chop, and I tasted, was delicious.

We were party of six. We had soups, salads, fish special, cheeseburger,& chicken, Food was also excellent. The five nut brownie and key lime pie were also wonderful. They seated us at large table in the back which allowed for great conversation. Wait staff was very helpful.

I was looking to see if there was a Houston's in Austin, but it is only in Dallas and Atlanta. But this place is run exactly like it. Same menu, mostly. I shared a rack of ribs with a friend and they were as delicious as I remembered them. I will be going back, soon.

I really enjoyed my Swordfish and Cajun shrimp! The salad of spinach and Parmesan was very tasty! A whole team served my every need. I had strawberry shortbread for a great finish!

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends. The food was quite good. Ribeye for hubby and crab cakes for me. The ribeye came with potato and I had spinach. No soup or salad included. No bread brought to the table. You even had to request salt and pepper because that isn't on the table either. Odd. Our server was a pleasant young woman but seemed to rush us. I had just been seated when she asked about beverages. I hadn't even looked at the wine list. She spoke so quickly we had to ask her to slow down and repeat what she said. She also reached across my husband while he was eating to clear my plate. Tacky. Our two entrees, one glass of wine and a diet soft drink came to just over $110.

Fantastic food, brilliant service. Best of all they never make my coeliac wife feel anything other than fully welcome when she asks lots of questions about their Gluten Free menu. Highly recommend. Parking is a little rough but the lot is ample you just have to walk. Would love easier to go options, perhaps a drive up parking spot or two and have it delivered to your car. But still 5 stars for great food and great service.

All in all, everyone totally enjoyed the meals they ordered.....i ordered the veggie burger and bit into it and it fell apart.....the patty was well consolidated.....i ended up eating it with a fork.....the pile of french fries that are served with each platter is immense!.....my son in law had to change his order from the pork chops to ribs because they didn't have any but was given a gift certificate to come back and have the pork chops on the house as compensation. the deserts were tasty and the hot fudge sundae came with hot hot fudge sauce on the side...... the tables are connected to the floor so we couldn't push them together to enjoy the meal with all 8 people.....the waitress was extremely friendly and took care of our every need.....i highly recommend this restaurant for excellent food....

Wonderful Meal, Great Server, and We Enjoyed the Outdoor Seating … Had dinner here last night, did not have a reservation and the bar area was full. However, we were seated promptly outside, which was our preference. Delightfully friendly server, Anthony (see photo) greeted us and was a definite add to the dining experience — as he knew the menu well, made great recommendations, and was genuinely friendly and eager to please. Thanks Anthony! Food at this restaurant was well prepared, very tasty, and portion size was satisfying. We started with the grilled artichokes which we had had before and they are fantastic, with a nice aïoli dip. My wife had a vegetable plate and a crab cake. She makes a great crab cake, but admitted that this crab cake may have been better than hers. All crab, no filling. Outstanding! I had a marinated ribeye and baked potato. Both were delicious. Both of us had enough food that we brought home leftovers which I enjoyed for lunch. Had a latte for dessert which was an exceptionally good cup of coffee, and the Key lime pie was memorable. A great meal. This is a restaurant we need to go to more often.

Service and food are still top notch. U will not be disappointed. Smoked salmon is the best. Chicken salad and the club is great for lunch

This restaurant was recommended by my daughter and her husband as a great place for really tasty food. My wife had a Flat Iron Steak Sandwich which she raved about, as one of the best steaks she has ever had. I had the Prime Rib with mashed potatoes and a side of Brussel Sprouts (wonderful). My daughter had a salad because she is allergic to gluten and dairy, so what they offered was great for her, and my son-in-law had a French dip sandwich, which he enjoyed. I don't drink alcohol, but they had a Kaliber non-alcoholic beer for only $3. The food was plenty, no appetizers or deserts, but we left satisfied. We will go again. My wife had a glass of Olema Cabernet, my son-in-law had two beers, both at reasonable prices. My grand daughter is 3, so she decided to have beans and rice, but left most of it and ate some of everyone else's dinner. Total price with a 22% tip was $179. Great Food Great Atmosphere

Not only is the atmosphere relaxing and the food fabulous, the bartenders always know your name and provide entertainment. Best burger in Austin

I have had Bartlett's several times now and the food and service have always been good. It's an easy in and out place for a business lunch and it has a classy/professional feel for important lunch meetings. It can get a little loud if you're seated in the bar area. For quieter space request a booth or a table in the back area. It can also get crowded at lunch.

Located in what looks like a gentrified, Southern California, rock-faced, rustic-timbered, former Howard Johnson's in a strip-shopping-center corner parking lot, Bartlett's offers a wide range of $23-and-up lunch entrees. I even spotted one for $39. For a party of three, if we had added any drinks, the tab would have come to much more than $100 for lunch. In my book, for that price, it had to have been a fantastic lunch experience! It wasn't.

Great place for any occasion! Prime rib is always excellent. I ordered the vegetable plate and was so pleased, roasted beets, chilled asparagus, greens, sweet potato, it was as beautiful as it was tasty. They also have great fish options.

We visit Bartlett's every 1-2 months. We live sort-of close, and it's an easy choice for a reliable, high-quality meal. The food, service, and environment is always great. The menu is largely basic American food. If you're an out-of-towner looking for something outstandingly "unique" in Austin, you should probably go elsewhere. But Bartlett's does the basics very well. Our usual go-to dishes: grilled artichoke appetizer (outstanding!); hamburger; "Famous" French dip sandwich (ouch $27 these days, but thankfully we can afford it); steak; loaded baked potato; crab cake (also pricey). Fish dishes are usually great, but occasionally disappoint. [Btw Hopdoddy across the parking lot can also give you an awesome hamburger.] Downsides: They're getting pretty expensive. Wait times for a table can be lengthy. And the bar: The bar is acceptable, but I don't know if I've ever had an outstanding drink there. And I've never had acceptable margarita from their bar – I've sadly given up on asking.

Whenever I am in Austin I try stop and have a burger at Bartletts. Love the burger and fries. The key lime pie is also a must. Haven't ever been disappointed. Took our friends for a birthday celebration. They also loved it.

Bartlett's is comfortable, that is the best way for me to describe it. Tuck into one of the great booths in the bar for apps and cocktails or go for a dimly lit table in the dining room - with views directly into the kitchen for a lot of them. If you even remotely like artichokes spend the money to get this dish! Do not skip it!

Been here a bit more often than normal. On all of the recent visits the food and the service was awesome. On my most recent visit one of the cooks saw me and my date waiting ... leaning up near the kitchen ... and gave us a free order of fries. Which was perfect since she we were really hungry ... love the VIP 5 star treatment so they get the 5 stars from me.

My sister and I dined here last night. I had traveled all day and arrived hungry and thirsty! The last time we had dined at Bartlett's was when it was Houston's. Upon entering, I was pleased with the ambience. We asked the hostess to seat us by the window. She graciously obliged. Our server then arrived to take our drink orders. There was something about him that was off-putting. I had to ask him for his name. We ordered an appetizer, grilled artichokes, and waited for our drinks. The drinks arrived in a very timely fashion. I ordered the Bartlett Pear Martini. It was WONDERFUL! Another server brought our appetizer and was most gracious and fun! When it was time to order our meal, I asked our server, Tim, about splitting the entree. He said that wouldn't be a problem. I then asked about splitting a salad, one Tim described as an entree salad. He said that would be fine, though he wouldn't be able to split it. He'd bring an extra plate. My sister and I agreed that would be fine! When the entree arrived, it was on one plate. Not split, as Tim had said could happen. The salad arrived, with the dressing applied even though we'd asked it be placed on the side. This meal was delivered by yet another server, by the way. It took Tim about five minutes to stop by the table to check on our food. I commented about the salad, and Tim quickly apologized and removed it. Later, one of the house managers brought the new salad, followed by Tim bringing the dressing. Tim would not interact with us. It was as if he'd rather wait on others than these two women. We both observed him chatting it up with other diners. Perhaps they were regulars, I commented. Perhaps Tim was having a bad day, I commented. Perhaps Tim doesn't like two women together, my sister commented. Whatever the case, I watched as Tim talked to another server, looked in my direction as did the other server, and then walked away. The other server came to our table, asked if we needed anything else, and then delivered our check. Tim continued to interact with other diners. The sad thing about this experience was the following. The drinks, the ambience, the food were all good. The service, by everyone other than the one designated as the "LEAD" server to two women, was good. I have a reputation of being generous with gratuity. I can't help but wonder if Tim thought two women would be stingy. He had no idea of the great gratuity he could have received. Instead, I gave 20% in cash, not really caring who received that gratuity. RE the three stars, the driving force was service by our main server. Even if he was having a bad day, he, like the rest of us who work with the public, should have put that aside when waiting on diners. He most certainly did so with others.

This place is very similar to Houstons, JAlexanders, Bandera, Hillstone in other cities. A dark wood steak and chop house which prides itself on good food and top service standards. The food was good the service not so much. Three of us had a late lunch during a business meeting. We had salmon dip as an appetizer and grilled artichokes too. The salmon dip was typical of any of these places and was actually quite good. The grilled artichokes were good, not great, and they presented one type of dipping sauce versus a couple which other places do, and if you dont like that one, it makes for not a great app. I didn't like the sauce frankly. Two of us had prime rib, the third barbeque ribs. My prime rib was cooked just the way I wanted it, a little on the small side for $39 though, in and of itself and as compared to these other places around the US. The other person's prime rib was not quite right but she chose to eat it versus send it back. The ribs looked good, but again, it seemed to be a smaller portion than other similar places, for slightly more money too. The ice cream sundae for dessert was quite decadent and was a large portion. They had key lime pie and some other similar southern based dishes. Now, as to the service it was an inexcusable mess. To start with, we had no less than 5 people try to be our main server, it was right at shift change as it was explained to us, and it was clear that the first team didnt communicate with the second team the status of our order or meal progress. Then there were just dumb things, like the server putting the appetizers on top of the menus still on the table because we hadnt ordered; or two times the servers brought us warm towels for our apps when it was clear that we just had got them and the second time, that the first towels were still on the table. Odd. then, the used towels sat there for at least 10 minutes, and it was then that our server (the 3rd one) took our order. It also seemed that there was a slight disconnect about which items were on the lunch menu and which were on the dinner menu and which would be available to us at 3:30pm when we got there. I still dont think they knew which was which and surely we, as patrons didn't know either. One of the servers was just really awkwardly clueless and frankly shouldnt be working at this nice of a place. I am glad to not have seen him again as our meal progressed. Then after out meal, another set of three towels came out when only one of us had ribs and needed them, it was just a disconnect. That one towel sat there all the way through dessert too, yuck. I wanted to love this place as it is my favorite type of place in the cities that I travel to, it was just too odd service wise to go back despite how decent the food was. As Austin is a great food town, surely there are other places where the food and service properly align for everyone's benefit.

the for is wonderful, and the service is great. Even though it's a large restaurant, it is not noisy, and the ambiance is excellent.

Not all restaurants serve prime rib on a regular basis so when my husband and I want to have a good prime rib we go here. It is always busy but the service is good with other servers often pitching in if your own server is occupied with another customer. I cannot speak to the overall menus as we usually have prime rib and a salad.

Sets a standard for top wait staff and well prepared lunch and dinner selections. Nice ambiance and location--you can actually find a place to park. After going through the hassle of South Austin and loopy waiters, it's really a relief to know that Bartlett's is there to deliver the goods.

Some spaces in Austin are timeless. Barlett's is one of them. Originally called Houstons, this steak house in all posh glory worked. While the majority of restaurants in the area shunned dress codes, Houstons maintained one. Strange it may seem, but it worked. An old girlfriend used to manage and wait tables here. Her pressed white shirt and apron was always a hassle, but she always looked great on the working the front of the house. When my office was at Far West, I used to be quite the regular at the bar for upscale cocktails and Happy Hour. The restaurant itself, I gather, has been at the corner of Anderson Lane and Burnet for 30 yrs now and since I live SW, I kind have forgotten about them. Until recently. We were north not to long ago and peckish with a friend in town and it came to mind. Off we went. Here is why it became a time capsule. As we entered, it felt unchanged. Same bar, same dark wood interior, open bright kitchen and a welcoming smiling hostess taking us to our table. At Bartlett's, team service works here and is seamless. We must of had three or four different servers come by to take plates, check on us and bring us our drinks. There was no doubt who was our main server, but all her helpers made this a well oiled machine. On this visit, Spinach Artichoke Dip; very good, Apple Wood Smoked Pork Chop: very good, Wilted Spinach: good, and Thyme Mashed Sweet Potatoes; good. To be fair, the sweet potatoes are something I love to prepare at home and since they weren't my version, I was a tad disappointed. Need to be more open to new tastes to classics. They take reservations for lunch, which is nice. The booths still look cozy and intimate. The bar was buzzing with folks enjoying their evening. I'm glad I dropped in to remember why I liked this place so much in the past.

This is a locally owned neighborhood restaurant that encompasses all the elements that cause you to keep coming back, which is something my family and I do at least twice a month. The menu is such that my adult children like it, as do aunts and uncles in their 90s, Service is universally fine and the ambiance is quite comfortable. Sleek and stylish, but you can actually hear and converse with your dining companions. Most importantly, predictability of the dish being served is not a worry. Consistently high quality food at affordable prices. Depending on time of day, you might have a short wait, but patrons are happy to do so

Our waiter was not friendly and pretty overbearing. What was even worse was that I found he changed tip amount! My credit card company resolved the problem and reversed the money. It was a totally unpleasant experience though the food was good.

This was the perfect place to finish a hard day of moving my daughter and her friend. Four of us enjoyed dinner here on the Sunday before Memorial Day. The wait was much less than a nearby restaurant. The food was great and service outstanding. Our server was very attentive and accommodating. Would definitely dine here again.

lovely upmarket restaurant, excellent service and food was absolutely tasty and delicious. Highly recommend it.

Surprised I have not written a review about one of my experiences at Bartlett’s. I took my wife here to have lunch and were seated quickly where we arrived just after they opened for the day. This restaurant is high end and suggest wearing your business casual attire. The place is also kept dark with some ambient lighting, and the dark wood overtones do not help either. Luckily we were seated next to a window so could read the menu. But it’s all about the intimate setting atmosphere as a place to take your date whether it’s your wife, girlfriend or mistress to and where the old Austin mobsters used to hang out back when the place was called Houston’s. :) There is a very nice bar to enjoy a fine drink. In the past I remember reading this was one of the best bar scenes in Austin. We did not have reservations and really not needed for lunch but would do so for dinner. This restaurant does not do brunch so get your mimosa and avocado toast somewhere else. The menu is loaded with rich tasting delights and started off with a glass of Zenato. I ended up selecting the Idaho Rainbow Trout. Service here is excellent and attentive to our needs. When our food arrived it looked devouring and smelled good. My trout was the best tasting fish I have had in a very long time. It had so much flavor to it and could sing song about it. It came with wilted spinach which also was a delight. My wife had the Barbecue Pork Ribs and they were delicious too. It was definitely worth the price fir coming here. The food here is first-rate and will recommended it for visitors from out of town.

I recently had a business lunch here, I have been here a few times (both when it was Houston's and now that it is Bartlett's) and I've always found the food to be really good. It's always crowded, especially for lunch, it seems to draw a strong business crowd based on the suits and dress shirts. The decor is elegant and modern if not overly romantic, but I would think they do a fair amount of "date night" business as well. The food is the reason I've been here several times. The burgers are excellent, and they usually have a couple strong fish options on the menu and on the daily specials. Their salads are also decent-sized and tasty, my favorite is the club salad. The French Dip sandwich is huge, and really good. My favorite thing on the menu is their fries. Very thin cut, fried to perfection and well-salted. The service is very professional and attentive as needed, and the food comes out within a decent amount of time. Parking can get messy during peak hours, as they share their parking with a strip mall that also houses several other popular restaurants. For me, the only thing to ding Bartlett's on is the pricing. They're not so outrageously high so as to discourage me from coming back, but they're high enough to discourage me from making this a regular spot to visit.

So Bartlett’s May be considered a bit stuffy or pricey but the place is so solid. Th menu items are really well rounded, wood fired and delicious. The artichoke app is a must try. Weve gotten some good keto/low-carb options there and the drinks are top notch. Strip and prime rib are great. Also has the key lock me pie recently too. Nice classy place

My wife and I visit Bartlett's regularly because of their atmosphere and food quality, even though it is a bit expensive. It is one of our favorite restaurants in town. At a recent lunch, I was disappointed that they have a sign on the door that says they do not require their staff to be vaccinated. It is the case that responsible restaurants can require masks and even require their staff to be vaccinated. While there are other restaurants in Austin that also do not require their staff to be vaccinated, those generally have large outside eating areas and most of the staff wear masks. I was shocked by the number of Bartlett's staff who were not wearing masks, and it made me uncomfortable when they seated us and when we were served. I realize there is no vaccination or mask mandate in Austin right now, but restaurants have to make a decision on whether to enforce health recommendations to protect their customers, or to not do so and take the chance of infecting customers with covid. In fact they may gain customers who want to feel safer, at least when the staff are masking up. I fully understand that it is difficult to find staff these days, which is probably the reason that restaurants will not require staff to be vaccinated or even wear masks. For those of you who don't care, Bartlett's is still a nice restaurant, even though they have recently blocked off some banks of booths. This is just a note to let people know about Bartlett's vaccination and masking policies before making a reservation, committing to go there, and perhaps feeling uncomfortable.

Barlett's continues to earn its spot on the "ATX's iconic" list for consistently providing first-class service and fare ... service is always impeccable, attentive but not overbearing. Water glasses stay full, advice about the menu on point, pace of the meal appropriate. A separate staff hustles food out of the kitchen, so it comes out piping hot (or cold as needed). Steaks and seafood ruled the table this visit, all cooked to perfection, astutely seasoned. Nice wine accompanied dinner, and dessert, key lime pie, was the perfect ending to a delightful meal. Highly recommend you stop by Bartlett's!

This restaurant is a little pricey for lunch but my sister and I shared an Asian Steak and Noodle salad that was simply wonderful. It was way enough food for 2 and different so we enjoyed the little bit of adventure. The setting is the old Houston's which we missed but we are happily satisfied with its replacement. There are a lot of salads on the menu which we'll be back to sample. I think this would make a good place for my husband and I to come for an intimate meal in the evening.

Bartlett's occupies the space where Houston's once held forth -- a place we liked to visit when we came to Austin, in the years before we moved here. Madame and I were delighted to learn that Bartlett's had taken over, and even happier to hear that many of the old ways and themes of Houston's would be carried forward. And indeed they have been -- and, if possible, even improved upon. On a recent Friday night we were lucky enough to snag a reservation for two at 8:15; there were walk-in customers queued at the entrance but we were shown directly to our table. Decor is dark wood and brick, a lot like a French wine cellar; the atmosphere is lively without being deafening. Best of all, unlike a downtown steakhouse dominated by testosterone and up-and-coming middle-management types, Bartlett's has much more of a couples and family vibe. And the food is first-rate. Steak for Madame, with a baked potato and braised spinach on the side; the smaller cut (about 8 oz, I'm guessing) of prime rib, with slaw, for me -- all done perfectly. Salads for each of us; and toasted focaccia was an added delight. All of that paired up superbly with a rose de Provence -- a fine evening. Service was impeccable -- Phil had charge of the proceedings and all ran to perfection -- without being stuffy or pretentious. Despite the crowds, our orders arrived in good time. Having fed ourselves superbly, we had to pass on desserts -- but next time... Be prepared to spend a bit, but Bartlett's is worth it -- and, I would say, a little less expensive than those downtown carnivoria. All sorts of cards are accepted and parking is no problem; there are numerous spaces around the restaurant itself and many more in the larger shopping center parking lot right out front. Reservations are accepted, even for our party of two, and are well-advised. I would not have altered much from the old Houston's days, and in fact nothing much has changed. We're already scheming about a return visit --

I love this place, from steak to ribs and even burgers. A friend recommended me this place as he ranked Bartlett's cheese burger in his top 5 and he was right, the paddy is amazing, the burger is big but it doesn't fall apart while you are eating it, the quality is very consistent. Besides that I have eaten the premium rib steak, the ribs, and several starters, so far everything has been great. The service is also great and the place is nice. If you go Solo, then try the bar, no lines, same menu, good service.

I've been to this restaurant number of times and I can always depend upon them for delicious food, good service and the ability to be able to carry on a conservation and have a visit with friends or family.

Was like being on the east coast , exceptional! We had to wait 40 minutes but the wind was excellent. The bread was amazing too!

We dine 3 - 4 X monthly at Bartletts. At their prices, you would think someone might know who we are. So much turnover at front desk, and the fact that there is no attendance based record system tied to reservations for regular customers makes the welcoming atmosphere nonexistent. Last night our previously made phone resv was not on the books. Oh, so sorry the girl said, there is one hour wait. I asked to see the manager. The desk girl never sought the manager. I asked front desk young man, he got the manager who said, "Oh, I know you." I asked for her card, husband asked for an accommodation. She brought her card and then disappeared. We thought she might be back so went tot he bar. Very crowded, clearly not enough bartenders and support staff. Bartenders worked very hard to never make eye contact....10 minutes later, no drink, no manager, nothing. Bartletts is like 2 restaurants. The waiting and bar area #1 and the dining area is #2. #2 is great....#1 is a train wreck with all of the ambiance of a middle school cafeteria. We left went straight to the Frisco for a great hamburger. Advice...avoid Bartletts on Saturday night. If you make a reservation for any night call back to confirm, they still might lose it. You can reserve online. Having said all the above, Tim Bartlett ran a great restaurant, his management is sorely missed but the food is still very good - pricey but good.

This place is an Austin staple. It has absolutely the best prime rib in town! I really love everything I’ve ever tried on the menu, but the Asian Noodle Salad is one of my all time favorites. The appetizers, salads and cocktails are all first rate. I like the atmosphere, but it is a little dark and loud at times. Also, the service is hit or miss: sometimes spot-on and sometimes a little unprofessional.

We were hosting a party of 8 business associates. The atmosphere was vibrant, and we were seated promptly once our whole group arrived. (Suggest making a reservation if you have a larger group). Our server, Blaine, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. The marinated ribeye was amazing, and, although we weren't in a private area, we had no problems with being able to talk back and forth, which was a very important aspect to our business dinner. Would definitely go back, and highly recommend this restaurant.

Delicious artichoke and spinach dip fab rib eye and brownie dessert did not disappoint our friends friends server Stephan was a joy thankyou

My friend and I went here sharing memories of Houston's and how much we enjoyed eating there. We had our expectations up when we saw Club Salad on the menu. First up, it was $16.00 for a salad. The fried chicken breast was in hunks - tough and dry. Crumbles of a partial egg. Very disappointing. Won't be going back. Very dark in there, by the way. Way over priced for what we received. No value. Didn't mind paying more when it is worth it.

Great lunch... the best and biggest vegetarian burger ever! Nice friendly service and same feel as prior Houston’s.

the best veggie burger ever. it was moist and full of flavor without being spicy. tasted like barbecue brisket. iced tea was excellent. nice atmosphere, very clean. good service. will make it a point to go every time I visit Austin.

The service is always professional, courteous, usually attentive. I'm not exactly sure how they manage a team approach, but it seems like the whole wait staff is alert to delivering the food and drink orders so nothing sits around getting warm/cold when it shouldn't be. It's unusual. Likewise, the food is almost always good. The grilled artichokes are always good, as is the traditional salad. I wish they had more low-calorie soups (broth based, for example). The snapper with shrimp is very rich and delicious and I'm not sure how they get that bit of crispiness on the shrimp. All in all, this is possibly my favorite restaurant in the Austin area.

Food and service were excellent and we have already planned another visit for this weekend. We were fortunate to get in quickly with a large party but will make reservations from now on. All were pleased with their choices but anxious to try others and leave done room this time for desserts!! My mouth is watering already! Had their Asian Salad - excellent - but the ribs and steak looked very tempting. Good wine list, too!

I met a business associate for drinks and dinner. We sat in the bar, and carried on a meeting for approx. 2 hours. Staff was always attentive and never pushy to turn the table even though it was Friday night. Drinks are marvelous, and the food is superb. Meeting was great to boot!

Over 10 visits in the last 3 years and we are never disappointed. The prime rib, french dip sandwich and burgers are consistent of quality. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Great place.

My wife and I visited for dinner with another couple. The food was average, perhaps similar to a "Fridays" or a "Chillies", but fewer menu items. The price is about double what you may expect to pay for this quality and service. I would not rush back to Bartlett's. The salmon was good, probably not previously frozen. The steak looked great and served exactly how it was ordered. I enjoyed the salad with goat cheese. The dessert was large and maybe even enough for four to share. We got the Key Lime Pie. We were full when we left. I don't mind paying a lot when dining out, but the service, quality, and experience needs to be better. One thing... toward the end of dinner, they started cleaning under the near by tables. I was surprised that the employees used their own iPhone's flashlight application to brighten under the tables and then sweet them clear. But what I did not like was the dust that was swept up as I was EATING just a few week away from them brooming the rug! I bet a lot of others think this is some great place. But I really was not impressed.

This is a great place for a nicer date or special lunch. The food is always delicious. Be sure to ask about the specials. Waitstaff is high quality.

Servers fabulous. Never wanted for anything, but they weren't always hovering either. Showed up with no reservations and they were able to accommodate us. Steak with coffee and chipotle rub, medium rare, completely tender and delicious. Everyone took half their meals home. huge platters.

The drinks are really good here. I had the petite filet mignon, wasn’t that impressed. Their spinach dip was a great starter I thoroughly enjoyed that. The food was pretty average, it didn’t quite wow us.

I ate at this place a year ago and wrote a review then which shared about the good food but odd service. I had dinner there again this week and found the same odd dynamic a year later. I had the roasted chicken with a baked potato. The chicken was good but with a slightly odd apricot glaze of sorts, so not truly just favored roasted chicken like I am used to. They had no rice substitute and my baked potato was ok. Others at my table had french dip which looked great and the special copper river salmon which looked good but was a tiny tiny portion for $39. Shoot, it is that price per pound now at Whole Foods, this had to be about 5 ounces max, so a nice margin for the house.... The appetizers looked good, spinach dip and the desserts their usual decadent selves. This meal we had three servers and the overlap was not smooth particularly. We got there at 5pm which should have been well past any shift change, but one guy brought our drinks, another took our order and the third then took over the table and meal service and dessert and bill thereafter, an odd way to trade off and he had some equally odd explanation about changing tables. If this same thing had not happened to me a year ago I would have chalked it up/off; but a year later with the same odd dynamic, becomes an odd unnerving pattern. There has to be a better way for them to manage their staff for sure especially on a Saturday at 5pm. I travel alot and eat at places like this all over the US. This one seems slightly higher in cost, less food for the same price and the very oddest service standard and staffing parameters of any nice restaurant I have ever seen. Not sure that I can recommend as a result.

Early Dinner on 4th of June 2020 for two. First the menu prices shown here are not accurate. Bartlett's has raised prices by 20-25% since this page put together. Wife had the pork chop. -- ONE average sized, but thick pork chop. came with nothing more than somewhat dry mashed potatoes; no salad, no soup, not even an under cooked veggie! I took one look at menu prices and decided against having drink or appetizer and ordered the BBQ bacon burger for $18. It came with some "shoestring french fries" that reminded me of the shoestring fries you get in 75¢ potato chip type bag at 7/11. No way I was going to pay $35 for a piece of salmon that I can get most places for $15-$22!! On the positive side the porkchop was very tasty, tender and properly cooked, my burger was juicy and not over cooked with above average taste. Service was good. Avoid this place unless you have just won the lottery and are not very hungry.

One of the best places around. It may be a little pricey but my husband and I have been several times and had a pretty good sampling of the menu items and there is nothing we wouldn't recommend. Spinach and artichoke = delicious! French dip = super delish!! I've had the Asian Noodle salad with chicken and loved it. I've tried my husbands pork chop with a yummy onion jam. The wait staff are always professional and pleasant. Overall best food/experience for your dollar.

Came here for a working lunch and this place was nothing short of impressive. First, GET RESERVATIONS, if you want to come here to eat it fills up fast. Parking is horrible, look to park in the shopping center parking lot and not the restaurant. For lunch I had a single pork chop, mashed potatoes, and a side salad for $31. My other co-workers had the butterflied trout, and allowed me to try it. I'm not a fan of fish/seafood, but The trout was equally as great as the pork chop I had. The service here is great, the atmosphere was business-shirt and tie, and was great for catching up with co-workers and making conversation. I definitely want to try this place for dinner.

Good steak house and wonderful burgers. Loud on a Friday night, so eat but don't talk. Staff was wonderful, but so many choices in Austin, this is good but not the best...

Best veggie burger ever!!!! A little on the pricey side for burgers but worth it. Nice, quite atmosphere.

We recently stopped by Bartlett's on a Saturday afternoon. Our first visit after the COVID scam began. Bartlett's still earns it seat at the front of the class. After a couple of outstanding cocktails (Bombay Saphire and Bartlett Pear Martini), we ventured into the current wine list, which, while not extensive, has a nice selection of varietals from many vineyards. We stuck with the "by the glass" section of the wine list and selected a Cade sauvignon blanc and the Stags Leap Investor (a red blend). Both wines were spectacular, and recommended if you stop by. Our food selections hit the mark, beginning with the grilled artichoke hearts, an old staple at Bartlett's and still very good. We inquired about crab cakes, and while not on the menu, they were available. A conversation with the waiter revealed the crab cakes are a frequent special, alternating with lobster tails. Bartlett's crab cakes are easily in the top 2 or 3 in ATX. (Get the sauce on the side). The cost is pretty crazy, but, heck, they're darn good! The club salad and fresh fish of the day followed, both were outstanding. We also selected an extra side dish, Thai roasted brussel sprouts with crushed peanuts ... sublime! The gastro adventure ended with Barlett's key lime pie, which was amazing. Service was great, attentive but not overbearing, thank you Andrew. It was an incredible meal, start to finish. If your in the neighborhood, give Bartlett's a try, you will be thrilled you did.

Great north Austin choice for fresh hot not fussy food. Straight forward menu items served hot and fresh.

We used to frequent Houston’s in several cities, the minute we walked in-I recognized the interior distinctly as Houston’s. Sure enough, this used to be a Houston’s and the namesake (Mr. Bartlett) used to work there, apparently he bought the restaurant-renamed it. He has since passed and it is run by another. The menu is very similar to Houston’s, but having been to one in Houston the week before-I definitely prefer the Caesar salad at Houston’s...much more flavorful. The prime rib was very similar but remember the cuts being much thicker, ours was not very hot and turned cold quickly. But, oh so tasty. We interacted with at least five different servers, most were personable and professional, our head waiter just seemed disinterested...everyone has off days-but can it hurt to smile just once? I gave it 5 Stars bc compared to the pricier alternatives for a good steak, you get a solid value. Had I never eaten at a Houston’s, I would have been very pleased...Houston’s is a Lexus and this was an Avalon..both great potential for food-just a few more bells and whistles on the former.

This was our 18th year in a row to have Christmas Eve lunch at Bartlett's. The quality of the food, service and atmosphere remains as good as any in Austin. While many new restaurants have appeared in town over the past few years, Bartlett's remains as good as any of them and continues to shine.

I came here on a Sunday night with some friends. We ordered the Spinach dip and the salmon to start with. Both were great and a good size for four people to share. Then I ordered the Applewood Smoked Port Chops. OMG. Best pork chop of my life. The portion was quite large as well. I ate the other half for lunch the next day. My friend and I had two different cocktails that were great as well. The first was a pear martini and the second was the La Rosette which was really good! Overall it was a great night with good food and drinks! I recommend!!

After driving by Bartlett's for a number of years, my wife and I decided to try it for an early We found quite a selection of wines available with a much smaller assortment available by the glass. We ordered a grilled artichoke as an appetizer. It arrived quite quickly and was phenomenal. Plenty for the two of us with a great sauce. A plus point was the arrival of hot hand cloths that we truly needed. I ordered a smoked pork chop for dinner and my wife ordered the vegetable plate. A small hiccup in trying to get the sides I wanted on the plate in that it was all or nothing. Got past that and my Caesar salad arrived quickly. It was fine except for being drenched in dressing. Have to remember to order it on the side. Bit of a wait for the entrée's. My pork chop was easily one of the best I have ever enjoyed. Crispy, grilled crust and moist, tender center--world class (and I have eaten quite a few in my 60 years.) My wife's vegetable plate was also far above standard. She had beautifully prepared spinach, brussel sprouts, a quinoa salad and mashed sweet potatoes. Everything was excellent except for the sweet potatoes. Just not our preference. Superb team wait service.

Decent food and service, neither are special. We arrived at 6 PM with a 6 PM reservation and were asked to wait. At 6:15 we were seated. Service was fast and cordial, but not rushed. I ordered a Cheeseburger ($22) without mayo and my Wife had the Sashimi Tuna Salad ($29). The burger was actually good and cooked as requested. It is served with a plate full of fries which are probably good if hot but mine were cold. My Wife enjoyed the Tuna which is seared on the sides so not technically Sashimi but rather Seared Tuna. We shared a Key Lime Pie ($10) which was good but small so we should have gotten two. All of the food is overpriced but most restaurants are these days.

We had a small holiday dinner at this restaurant. Our expectations were high but the meals were just average. For a near $200 dinner for three, it was a bust. Rib sauce very thick and ultra-sweet covering very thin pork ribs. A black bean side that looked like it had been cooked for hours, steak that was limp and tough. Overall, a bad experience.

Made a reservation over Christmas week. Service and food were awful. Start with the food. I ordered the ribs which are usually top notch, but about a third of them were burnt on the top and not very meaty. I asked for bread and whereas this used to be free and is free in virtually any decent restaurant I frequent, the server informed us it would be about $5 for one type of bread or $1 for some other kind. We reluctantly ordered the $1 bread, mostly so I could get the burnt rib taste out of my mouth. In terms of service, had reserved a table in a specific area of the restaurant, but upon arriving early, was informed that it was not available for 30 minutes. Got one story/excuse from the hostess, but when asked to speak to the manager, got another reason, one of them was lying. On a side note, I would have ordered the crab cakes instead of the ribs, but at $38, seemed ludicrous, actually $39 with the additional bread cost.Too many great restaurants in Austin to waste time at Bartletts. Try True Lucks, you won't be disappointed, now there's some service and great food!

Get the Grilled Artichokes! I promise you won't regret it! I had Prime Rib and Roasted Beets. My hubby had the Sashimi Tuna Salad. He liked his salad just fine--lots of interesting ingredients. My Prime Rib was heavenly! I was thrilled that a restaurant was brace enough to offer beets as a side. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. We saved room for dessert and shared the Chocolate Orange Pot d'Creme. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, but knew when to just let us alone. Not one complaint. It was a lovely dinner all around.

I went there on a Sunday night with some friends. We ordered the Spinach dip and the salmon to start with. Both were great and a good size for four people to share. Then I ordered the Applewood Smoked Port Chops. OMG. Best pork chop of my life. The portion was quite large as well. I ate the other half for lunch today. My friend and I had two different cocktails that were great as well. The first was a pear martini and the second was the La Rosette which was really good! Overall it was a great night with good food and drinks! I recommend

We had reservations at Bartlett's for 7:30 PM for a party of six. Bartlett's make no reservations for less than six. When we arrived, we were told that our table would be ready quickly. 30 minutes later, we were still waiting while others with no reservations were seated. Finally, we were taken to a table for eight! Somehow there had been "confusion" and our six had become eight. So we were led away to another table for six that required cleanup. The table for eight could have easily become a table for six with the movement of an added table for two...that made the table for the original six the new erroneous eight. Given the cacophonous nature of the restaurant, it's easy to see how there could have been missed communication, but also it would be easy to assume that with crowds waiting, guests even walking away would not be missed...or cared about. Let's give Bartlett's credit -- we were given appetizers on the house, and the service was excellent, within limits. Two of us ordered side dishes that never materialized, but for which we were not billed. We couldn't hear much, and presumably our server could not, either. The main courses were excellent. Had it not been for the annoying wait when reservations were made, and then the follow-on confusion, Bartlett's would surely have gotten an Excellent. But they did not.

Have always enjoyed this place. Great Blue Goose Martini. Always consistent food and excellent service.

Prior to attending a memorial service as the nearby Redeemer Lutheran Church, I stopped in at Bartlett's for lunch. The restaurant was packed but I was able to find a seat at the bar, where a number of folks were dining. While very busy, I found the bartender to be relatively attentive and the service - from the time I placed my order until it was delivered - quick. The food, as usual, was very good. I'd certainly return to this Austin restaurant.

My GF took us here while visiting for V-day this year. Being from the midwest I was instantly excited when walking in with the low lights and smell of an char grill... it was everything I remember a steakhouse to be. We had reservations, and only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. It was V-day of course, so it was very busy with couples all around. It appeared to be a "All hands on deck" night with what looked like 30+ employees waiting on guests. We drew the short straw however and our waiter was pretty short and rude with us from the start. I believe his name was "Nick"... We had been drinking all day and week leading up to this night, so we weren't really in the mood to drink in that moment.. Once we told Nick this he was visibly put off, and we really didn't see him much more the rest of the night. We ordered the French dip and a Mushroom Burger, as stated in the title not a lot of steak options. The burger was good, but the French Dip was amazing! We enjoyed our dinner, and the only other complaint was our water cups were not filled toward the end of our meal as Nick was "MIA". Overall I think we would come back when visiting Austin, we just would need to have a better server.

This restaurant took over a previous Houstons location and while the decor and look and feel may be the same, they rise above that chain in terms of food, wine and service. The wine list offers many unique bottles you wont find at the grocery store at affordable prices. Half bottles are offered as well, which is a rarity these days. The service is classic white table cloth, present and available without being overbearing. A great place for a nice night out.

This was our second time to dine here while we were on business in Austin. Absolutely wonderful food. I would suggest the Fillet, cooked Med. Rare. It literally melts in your mouth. We will continue to eat here every time we visit the Austin area.

As part of my quest to find an awesome burger in Austin, Bartlett's was recommended. Everything was soooooo good. Our server, who's name I didn't get was very nice - attentive but not obtrusive. We started with the grilled artichokes - wow really delicious, they boil and then grill the artichoke halves over the oak fire. 3 halves are served with a garlic butter to dip. We also both got a pecan porter (local brewery 512) I got the classic burger but with the basil avocado spread instead of the mayo/mustard & my hubby got the mushroom swiss - both were cooked perfectly and just delicious. I could only eat half, it was very big. We split a key lime pie slice which was very good but could have been slightly tangier to me but that is my personal preference. The coffee was fresh and rich and was a nice finish to a leisurely lunch.

As a party of 5 we chose Bartletts for the celebration. When we arrived for our 5:00 reservations we were promptly escorted to an area where parties of 5 or more are seated(it appeared the rest of the tables in the resturant were for 4 or less people). The server promptly introduced himself and guided us thru our drink and appetizor orders. was very helpful in answering our entree questions. Food arrived promptly. Each individual had a different entree and was well pleased with how it was prepared and taste. The atmosphere was quiet and very relaxing, fairly pricey but food ,service and atmosphere was worth the price.

We are long time fans of Bartlett's, however, they were off their game. Our waiter (Andrea?), explained one of the fish choices as "Sea Bass". Well, I adore Chilean Sea Bass. When I said, "Chilean Sea Bass?" She said, "Well, LIKE Chilean Sea Bass, but European Sea Bass or Bronzini." I ordered this more expensive fish choice thinking it would be 'LIKE' Chilean Sea Bass. Not so. It was basically a flounder with nuts on top. Fail! My husband ordered prime rib, med rare-med. And it came out med well. Nice cut, though. Service was very unpolished. Bartlett's needs to spend more time training their servers. She was uninformed about fish, spilled my husband's tea, and in general, should not have been serving at a fine dining restaurant. Maybe next time will be better. In the meantime, Bartlett's needs to educate their servers about fish choices and don't try to pass off flounder as Chilean Sea Bass.

This is a knockoff of its predecessor "Houston's". The menu is still the same after all of the years since it transitioned into Bartlett's. Service is usually very good and the atmosphere is quiet so you can actually hear the folks you are with. Feral children are seldom seen and there is a decorum about the restaurant that I have not found elsewhere in Austin. Now for the food - certain dishes are as good as ever. This includes several of their daily soups and salads as well as the ribs and prime rib. At times they can overdo a few things, but what restaurant doesn't. Other items such as their marinated ribeye need to be replaced. I have never understood why more older restaurants don't update their menus, but this is one f them that has held to the past. I suspect if they stay on this course they will suffer over time as more choices are available to patrons. The blue cheese dressing and grilled artichokes are excellent. Sometimes there are off menu items that serve up pretty well, including different fish brought up from the gulf.

we've returned here on several trips to Austin perfectly prepared steaks, fish, ribs not haute cuisine but everything done to perfection don't expect ribs soaked in sauce-expect perfectly grilled ribs expect everything to be prefect fish also awesome waiters attentive , pleasant and help wine list good

Haven't been here in several years but had the chance to go back. The service and food have always been the core of why they are still around. The prime rib was perfect and they know how to make a good vodka martini.

My family has been going to Bartlett's since the 80s when it was called Houston's.They may have changed the name, but the wonderful and consistent food as well as the pitch perfect service are the same. Their salads are all good and the wicked cheese bread side is an occasional treat. The tortilla soup is delicious, but check to see what days they serve it. Their roasted artichokes are divine. The smoke salmon appetizer and the spinach artichoke dip are two of our family's favorites. Some of the entrées we consistently order are the baby back ribs with delicious shoestring fries, the marinated ribeye, smoked pork chop, crab cakes, and the daily fresh market fish.

I have visited this restaurant several times over the years and it is consistently a good choice for a fine meal. A large menu of steak and seafood options. I chose a halibut option that was very good but not extraordinary. Steaks were good but not over the top amazing. Wine list good. Beers on tap somewhat limited. Desserts good. Prices are mid to high. Service was fine from door to table. No reason not to keep coming here if you want a traditional American fine dining option.

Stopped in for lunch and the decor was beautiful. Just ordered a burger and fries and although the burger was great, I think $16.00 for a burger and $3.00 for an ice tea is rather high.

Bartlett's is consistent, great wait staff, very good food - almost without qualification. Decent prices. And those classic things they do tweak are still recognizable as opposed to ordering pate to find it was made with mushrooms and organic oats. Mushroom loaf is NOT pate. Classic drinks menu, good wine and beers selection.

This was my first visit to Bartlett's but not the last. We celebrated a birthday here and it is a great place for good food and special occasions. We ordered the Spinach & Artichoke Dip with chips for starters. The dip was very tasty as was the salsa that came with it and the chips were good. I ordered the Filet Mignon with wilted spinach. The filet was cooked right, tender, juicy, well-flavored, and delicious. The spinach with Reggiano cheese was tasty as well. My friend ordered a favorite House Marinated Ribeye with loaded baked potato. The ribeye was huge, thick, delicious, and had a unique tasty flavor with the marinade. The baked potato was huge as well. The service was top notch. The prices are comparable to steak house prices. Reservations are recommended unless you don't mind waiting.

Four of us visited for the first time on a Saturday night in October, and it was just what we were looking for in a steakhouse. Two of us were visiting TX for the first time in a long time, and we had a hankerin’ for some good Texas beef. We weren’t disappointed, and in fact, all four us opted for the Prime Rib, and we all loved every bite! Decor is appropriately dark with lots of booths and can accommodate a lot of diners. Menu was very traditional. Can’t say enough how good it was!

I met a good friend for dinner. Thursday evening about 8pm - they were busy but not crazy. We sat at the bar had a great bottle of wine and dinner. The service was great. The salmon burger and sides were fresh and very tasty! I could eat there daily but I don't live in Austin. 🙃 Definitely recommend.

Having read the reviews, my expectations were very high. Certainly the service was very good as was the food but overall, it was not quite the foodie nirvana I anticipated. I love pate and theirs tempted with the description and presentation but missed the mark on flavor. I want my crab cakes to be mostly chunks of crab with something to bind them and theirs were just that. Unfortunately, they were paired with a mustardy sauce that overwhelmed the delicate crab. Prime rib was delivered as ordered but lacked that something to make it memorable. When I spend this much for a meal, I expect the best. I got very good but not the best. Would I go back? Sure, but not until I've visited other Austin restaurants with 5 star ratings.

Our favorite day of the week to eat at Bartlett's is Tuesdays when they offer their outstanding Clam Chowder; it is excellent! We then complete our lunch with their Club Salad with Honey mustard dressing. Their Club Salad is large enough to split, which is a good idea since their Clam Chowder is only available in a bowl; no cups. If we get a craving for a Bartlett's meal on another day of the week, we usually opt for their Prime Rib which is available in two sizes. I think their Prime Rib is one of the best in Austin. They also offer daily fish specials and their menu has a full selection of everything from hamburgers and sandwiches to entrées including roasted chicken with apricot glaze, barbeque pork ribs, Applewood smoked pork chops, or jumbo crab cakes to name a few. Whatever you decide, I am certain you will love it. And unlike many Austin Restaurants, parking is not a problem here.

Known mostly for steaks and fine dining, Bartlett's has the best Veggie Burger I have ever eaten! It has stayed exactly as it was when this Austin treasure changed its name from Houston's to Bartlett's. You must have the extra skinny fresh French fries, too! P.S. I recommend their honey mustard for dipping!

Date of incident was 4/26/2017. Bartlett's - Think "Houston's". Menu is the same. Good food. Service average. Service had been exceptional for years but have seen a decline over the last couple of months. The Host is another story - he needs to find another job before he takes the restaurant down completely. We called at 11:15 stating we had a party of 8. Host stated he could not put on the list. Funny - we've done this every other Wednesday for the last couple of years. The tortilla soup has been a tradition after staff meetings. We asked if there was a wait and responded "not at all." We arrived at 11:30 (a 5 minute drive). Same host from the phone greeted us to say there was now a 1 hour and 20 minute wait. Really? When asked about our conversation just 15 minutes earlier he just said "well its an hour and 20 now." Too many choices in this town to be "handled" so rudely. The tradition started several years ago has come to an end. With an hour and 20 minute wait it's obvious Bartlett's doesn't need our money.

My brother and I had lunch at Bartlett's; this was my second or third time I dined at this upscale restaurant. The food was delicious and the service friendly and attentive. Covid-19 protocols were in force, which was appreciated. I always enjoy visiting this restaurant when I'm in Austin.

I'm a longtime diner here, since the late 80's when it was Houston's. Expect a wait because they're popular but eat at the bar if you are dining alone or with just one other, service will be quicker and the bartenders, especially Dave, will take great care of you. The tortilla soup is a must (Fridays) and my personal fave is the Asian salad with beef (formerly known as the "Evil Jungle"). Yes they're pricey (my meal with tea was $33 before tip) but portions are large and service is sharp. The ambiance is always cozy and the staff make you feel very welcome. Enjoy.

Not only is this a great date restaurant, but every month we have our business lunch here as well. The food is always amazing, the service impeccable and the atmosphere is terrific. If you’re looking for a trendy place to eat, Bartlett’s is not for you. Expect classic American Bistro fare cooked over a mesquite grill, a nice wine list, full bar and wonderful desserts.

One of my favorite spots for happy hour/early diner. Great bar to grab a drink with a friend. The spinach artichoke dip is excellent and the burgers rival Hop Doddys across the parking lot without the wait. The downside is the place is a little pricey and they don't offer lunch or happy hour specials. Overall, I'd still recommend it especially if you're looking for something a little nicer in the Anderson/Burnet area.

We had a wonderful time with our son and daughter-in-law. The meal was outstanding. But it could have been better IF our waiter was interested in us having a good experience. We had a reservation at 7:30 and our son had to flag him down - 30minutes later- to even get him to come to our table for the drink order.

Either for lunch or dinner BARTLETT'S is a great place to visit. The food is a wide range of foods and the service is a great compliment to the food. Great place for crab cakes or a delicious hamburger.

Great food and Superior service. The smoked salmon and the Hawaiian steak...excellent. For dessert, I would recommend the apple cobbler.

Wonderful place, top notch staff and service. The food was delicious! Beautiful and quiet atmosphere!

This place used to be Houston's. Very good atmosphere, wait staff, and delicious food. Wasn't too noisey.

Had dinner here tonight! Great service, great drinks and great food. I have eaten here several times and have found that they are very consist with all the key things that a good restaurant need! Highly recommended!! Great atmosphere!!!

The Ocean Mist Artichoke with their famous remoulade sauce dip is wonderful I love them!! I order them each and every time I go there. Doesn’t matter if it’s lunch or dinner. Love, love them!!

You can always count on at Bartlett's excellent service and an excellent meal. With that said this time our service exceeded our expectations. Our server, Porter, is exceptional; his presentation and pleasant personality was exceptional. My wife and I discuss this as we enjoyed Bartlett's Smoked Salmon appetizer. Our conclusion was that he was truly dedicated to his service and pleasing us. His mannerisms showed he clearly wanted to please us and show Bartlett’s is a very special place. Don’t get me wrong, for all of Bartlett’s servers are excellent; however, Porter is a notch above. The Smoked Salmon appetizer is a meal, so we had their Club salad as our main course. It is one of our favorites. One of our favorites soups is their clam chowder, which is only available in late fall and winter; it is usually available on Tuesdays; however, the day may change with the new season. Ask if it is available. It will become your favorite too.

I want to tell you about an amazing evening I had at Bartlett's Restaurant. My husband and I have been going to Bartlett's for years, so when he died I wanted to spend a quiet evening by myself ordering our favorite menu. The food was its usual delicious! The wait staff Paul, Patrick, Dave and Gabe were wonderful!! They didn't hover but seemed to be there serving at exactly the right time and say the right things. The manager was quietly aware... At the end of my evening I felt blessed. I got a hug from Gabe and a wonderful memory for life!! The managers were Eric, Aric and Brent. Thanks so much for the memories! Susan Lowell, May 1, 2023

If you want to experience a wonderful dining experience with both great service & fantastic food, just go to Bartlett's. The burgers are the best in town & the best value--freshly ground meat every day & cooked exactly how you want it, no matter how rare. We've been going on a fairly regular basis for two years and have never been disappointed.

Veggie burger tasted different this time. Coke was watery. Shoestring fries, 👎🏻. Three burgers almost $60.

This is one place that I have been going for quite a while and keep going back. It is ALWAYS good service, better service than even some of the most expensive restaurants I have been to in Austin (and in major cities in the US and internationally.) The food is always excellent. It is underrated in my opinion, if this place was downtown Austin it'd be impossible to get into. Don't get me wrong, it has a big following and during busy nights you have to wait, however I don't think it gets the credit it deserves. The food is fresh, and always perfect. Their burger is the best in my opinion, their fries amazing, their ribs, their fish, their amazing vegetables, etc.

We've loved this place for years. Was Houston's before the change but just as good. Love the booths. Great bar too. Try the Potato Soup only available on Saturdays

Easy low lit yet happy atmosphere. The wait staff are extremely attentive. I had a glass of cava - huge pour!!! Ordered the mushroom swiss burger with truffle sauce. WOW - great serving size and just an absolutely great burger! My kids are picky and ordered the tempura battered chicken strips and they devoured them! I used to go here for drinks - the bar area in the evenings is very nice also but I have not done that in a few years. I realize I have been missing out on food here for a long time. Go there!

Been coming to Austin for twenty years. Always like to try a non chain restaurant in this trendy town. Bartletts used to be Houstons, but we always liked Houstons in Austin and Los Angles. Seems the food is similar to Houstons, some higher end. The baby back ribs are my son's favorite around the country. At $28, they should be! Ribeye steak at $38? Must be something special. My wife had the redfish, which was very good. Service is also very good. The wait time can be long. Very good food but a little pricey. Good for a special occasion. Food won't disappoint.

We have been dining at Bartlett's for 19 years and have never had a meal that wasn't prefect. The service is always what you expect in a fine restaurant. To mention some of our favorites, Prime Rib, French Dip, Ribs, home made desserts.

The ambiance of this place is incredible, not to mention the excellent food and service. To me, this is the best food in Austin.

This place pretty much speaks for itself, but I'll write a review anyway. Excellent service, outstanding food, and great drinks! I'm not a wood fire expert, but every time I walk in it reminds me of being a kid and my dad grilling food over a mesquite fire. It's absolutely magnetic, and I always recommend Bartlett's to family, friends, and clients.

Great service and great food. You have to go. The mushroom Swiss burger is amazing. The beer is great. The atmosphere is about an 8 on a scale one to ten. The light above the table was pretty bright and it's a little crammed but that's okay. Still great.

The food, service, and ambiance doesn't get any better than Bartlett's. Their fresh fish specials are always awesome, especially the Halibut with ginger butter sauce that my husband tried tonight. The marinated sirloin and baked potato (with all the trimmings) was just as wonderful...killer flavor and melt in your mouth texture. I, on the other hand, am addicted to the grilled chicken salad and toasted cheesy bread and HAVE to have it. We always start off our meal with the smoked salmon appetizer (capers, toast points and dressing). Not sure what they do to the salmon, however it is the best we've ever had. We appreciate they don't mark-up their bottled wine prices 3-4 x's like some ATX restaurants. If you are lucky enough to hit them on a night when they have the hot fudge sundaes then you have hit the jackpot. Otherwise, their key lime pie with graham/toasted pecan crust is a must have. We know what to expect at Bartlett's and they have never let us down.

Great atmosphere! Feels like in an English country side restaurant with great wooden beams and soft lights yet you see the fire in their busy kitchen in the back. Great service for such a busy place. Limited menu items but good quality. Tried the mushroom pate which is excellent!! Their veggie burger is very good and of course the meat and fish dishes are great. Pricey place but worth the visit.

My husband ordered the grilled shrimp and grits.... came under cooked and he asked them to cook them some more. They came back completely burned and black. The waiter did take the shrimp off the bill.

I am glad Bartlett's is still around after changing names from Houston's years ago. Bartlett's is great. The menu has wonderful things on it, and it's hard to decide what to buy, both in terms of main dish, side dishes and wine selections because there are so many delicious things to choose from. The service is always attentive. The food is cooked correctly. When you leave, you feel you've gotten very good value for the money. We come here when we want to relax and have a consistently great meal. Bartlett's is very popular so don't come on the weekend at peak times; you will be waiting in the bar with a lot of other people. Either get a reservation (highly recommended) or come on a week night.

I am always happy when Austin friends suggest meeting for dinner here. A wide range of choices, all of which can be counted on. One of the group wants a hamburger; another, a good steak; a third, fish. Barlett’s serves quality food in many categories. Nice bar and wine selection also. Their dependably good food draws a crowd, so always make a reservation.

We had our traditional Christmas Eve lunch here. The service was superb. The food continues to be excellent. The environment is upscale without being stuffy. We will return and always recommend it to others.

We stopped in and shared appetizers and sides. Service was impeccable. Enjoyed quinoa, salad...and you MUST try the grilled artichokes and smoked salmon. Good key lime pie. This restaurant is expensive. The evening special was snapper for $41.! I wish it wasn't quite so dark in the restaurant.

We hadn't been here since it was Houstons, many moons ago. Decided to give it a try, and discovered the same basic ambiance with seating and the bar as it was. However, the menu was a different story. A burger ran from $16-$19, and most entrees were in the $31-$39 range--yikes! The service was OK, the food was pretty good. A glass of wine $9. Plenty of free parking, including my spot as I'm certain to never return.

Great place for a business dinner. Good atmosphere and lots of variety on the menu. Highly recommend the mushroom Swiss burger and the baked beets. Service was also excellent.

After ten years of visiting family in Austin they took us to Bartlett's. This will not be the last time we venture here for dinner. Great start with the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. Everything we ordered was delicious: Crab Cakes, Wild Salmon, BBQ Ribs and even the Fish Sandwich. The Key Lime Pie was yummy

The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is perfect. You can sit st the bar and talk to everyone or get a table in the quiet dining area. I always enjoy the artichoke as an appetizer.

This is one of the few old Austin independent restaurants alive and well (and you should go) but it’s in danger of extinction. The biggest restaurant group in town is soon to acquire it so here’s hoping they leave well enough alone. Great ambience, very cozy. Great service (for the most part). Decent wine list (could be better for what’s been an independent). To Get: BBQ Ribs, grilled artichokes, ahi tuna salad, wilted spinach and the creamy coleslaw. The French dip sandwich is legendary. To be aware of: the Salmon is either cooked rare or medium (medium meaning basically well done) - they don’t cook it medium rare. I made the mistake of assuming that it would be medium rare and the server didn’t ask or fill us in. I would skip this item unless the new restaurant group can manage to sear the top while keeping the center from getting over cooked.

Our friends invited us to meet them for lunch at Bartlett's and we're glad they did. My wife and I don't normally eat at places with 3 dollar signs....but this place is worth it, the food, and the service, provided by Ferial, were both just about as good as it could get. Our friends got an appetizer I wouldn't normally try, the bourbon mushroom pate with chicken liver...it was amazing, we got the spinach and artichoke dip, amazing also. My wife loved the tempura batter fried chicken tenders and everyone who tried them loved them. Our friends had the classic cheeseburger and the swiss mushroom burger, also tasty to the last bite. I enjoyed my steak sammy. All the meats were cooked to our specs, I like it when a place asks that and delivers. Three of us overachieving fools went for a dessert and they equaled the entrees and apps. One hot fudge sundae done very well, some kind of brownie concoction, and a mixed berry cobbler wit' ice cream. A nap was in order after this....commonly known as an afternoon food coma......zzzzzz.

Have been here a number of times on multiple trips to Austin Have always been pleased Excellent grilled steaks and fish Grouper and trout excellent Shrimp and grits good Kale salad excellent Pleasant minimalist style Unfortunately bill is not so Minimalist

If you want a nicer than average place that is just above affordable, then this is your place. The food here is really good. I've been for lunch and had sandwiches and/or salads. All had a little flair to them and were really tasty. The wait staff is just perfect. Nothing gets by them. This is a great special occasion or business lunch place.

Dined here several times while in Austin. 2 dinners and1 lunch. All 3 dining experiences were great. Rene waited on us twice and both times made the dining experience great. Not to mention the food and cocktails were first class!

Great atmosphere & Decor. Very organized at the desk: reservations & directing people. Very professional. B+ wine list with appropriate stemmware. The stone & brick = great. Bar = hopping and great bartenders. The food was terrific. The waitress (Daisy) was a Pro . No teenager here. She was very knowledgeable. Ordered the med Prime Rib =- perfect & my wife had the Redfish with shrimp. Best ever especially the white sauce. Huge baked potato on both. Somebody scream. Had 2 great desserts too : Pecan something Pie = Both great. Call ahead or you'll wait 40 minutes. Worth it !

When my friend Jayne comes to Austin, we always head straight to Bartlett's. The service is always friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. The food is just great - from appetizers to soups to their great salads, entrees and desserts. We invented a drink called a Schneider (after the late baseball great Duke Schneider who retired in California to be an avocado farmer.) The Schneider is a Bombay gin martini, straight up with an avocado slice in place of the olive - yummy! So order one from the lively and helpful staff and then settle in to the best smoked salmon appetizer in Texas - no joke, it's fantastic. But then so is the grilled artichoke so bring a crowd and order a few appetizers. Entrees are similarly pleasing, Jayne and I usually get crab cakes and a filet and then split them. The super crisp fries never disappoint, and the wilted spinach is virtue wrapped in scrumptiousness - we love it all! I could go on about the prime rib French Dip sandwich and splendid salads, but now it's time for dessert. Chocolate is always my choice but my friend loves the Key Lime pie, so please yourself, you can't go wrong!

The GF Burgers are great. The gluten free buns are the first ones I have had that don't start falling apart on me as I eat my burger. The burger was also very tasty and the fries were good too. It was a little pricey but well worth trying.

I had business in that neighborhood so I had lunch there. Only ate the grilled chicken salad. It was pretty good. The waiter was efficient. If you are in the vicinity I recommend that you check this place out.

You cannot get a better burger in Austin--mesquite-smoked grill, fall-apart tender beef, fresh-baked bun. The ribs are tender, succulent, and not drowned in sauce. The prime rib is cooked to perfection--and here is a major point. If you do not fully enjoy what you are eating, the server will replace it, snap! We have had at least 10 great meals there.

Bartlett's has been an Austin staple for a long time. The food is always consistent and the service matches. While not fancy, they have a full bar, fresh squeezed orange juice and always full water glasses. Their burgers and fries are worth going back for.

Bartlett's did not disappoint as a group of us descended on the restaurant for a birthday dinner. Separate checks were not a problem for the excellent wait staff. The variety of the menu meant everyone had several food choices. Glad they let us bring our own cake! So cooperative! Don't miss the smoked Salmon appetizer. Exquisite!

Nice atmosphere. A baby boomer paradise. Food good, but very expensive. Interesting professional waiter. But I would not rush back. Too many other places to go in Austin.

Had dinner here with my niece and her husband. The ambience is very nice, a good place for a romantic evening. They have ample inside dining but I recommend reservations. There is a small but nice patio area outside and a sizeable bar just inside. They have a nice wine selection as well as local beers and other alcoholic options. For a busy restaurant, the noisy level is low and you can easily have a conversation during your meal. The menu selection is not overly large but there is an excellent variety of items from a nice seafood selection to various steaks and house specialties. The food was very good and well presented. The staff form the waiters to the management staff were very attentive. If you are looking for a nice place to have dinner on this side of town, this is definitely a good option.

Never visited this restaurant before , I understand that many years ago that it was part of the same chain as runs "Houston's" in Houston, Tx. The ambience and menu's are very similar and the French dip or the salads are outstanding. Our server got a tad confused over the salad dressings and to sync a salad required as a main rather than as a starter, but this didn't detract from a great meal.

Salmon at Logan's or FD's is much better at about half the cost! If you are looking for a very dimly lit restaurant with high prices and average food, then this may be the one for you.

This is quality pick for a nice dinner. Customer base seemed to be lots of couples giving it a bit of a romantic feel. The food was above average as was the service. In our location there was an annoying cold air draft from the air conditioning that detracted from our comfort. It was nice to be able to carry on a conversation even though the place was crowded. You can't go wrong here and I would certainly be happy to go back but the meal does not make my top 10. Entree and desserts were not that special in flavors or preparation.

This is a great family restaurant offering good service and food. I have eaten here several times and found them to very consistent on all aspect of food service. They have a great bar to go along with everything else! Give them a try if you are in North Austin looking for good service and a great steak!!

The food is always great! The ribs are fall off the bone delicious. We've never had a bad meal at Bartlett's and we have enjoyed dining here for years - way back when it was called Houston's Restaurant. Always look forward to going back for dinner.

We business partner and I visited with a client couple. I was initially disappointed that they seated the four of us in a small booth which made it awkward to even have wine glasses on the table. One of the other people at the table ordered a strip steak on the specials which came with some special butter. I decided to have the same thing and ordered mine medium rare while the other gentleman had ordered his medium. The others ordered Salmon and Snapper on the specials. The waiter was very confusing and lacked training. When the food was delivered, the medium steak was sizzling and the butter was melting. My steak had a big blob of butter which was not melting. When I cut into it there was no heat, ice cold meat. Not good for a $45? steak. (Way overpriced) The waiter said “let me heat this up for you.” They brought a new steak ( grizzled) but by the time it came, everyone else was completing their meal. Our ticket totaled nearly $300, but they gave no consideration for their mistake. I spoke to the Manager but she just shrugged me off. Very disappointing.

We made the reservation 8 months ago for my niece graduation @4:00 we get there at 3:30 and they said there was no reservation. They tried to "fix" the problem by seating us in separated tables, then the waiter comes with the worst attitude, treating us with no respect and like if they where doing us a favor. Worst experience ever. The artichoke deep good but not worth the experience. Took forever to clean up the table:(

We were there for dinner last week because we had our 50th anniversary gift from one of our friend. We were there long time ago when it was Houston's. First of all let me tell you it is not downtown or Domain. For the price we paid we expected a little more. My husband ordered the prime rib but did not come with vegetable only big potatoe. I wanted the fish of the day but did not include shrimp as it usually does for $36 so I did not order it. Settled for fish sandwich. The spinach and artichoke dip was good though. We would have thought a basket of bread or rolls would be included with dinner but it was not offered. I would go to Ruth Chrie's steakhouse if I want steak. But they did offer free desert for our anniversary that was nice. Service staff were exceptional though. Bartlett's is in a neighborhood that do not deserve the prices they ask.

Have dined at Barlett's several times and the meals are always exceptional. Entertained 6 business clients this week and they were all impressed from the steak to the pasta to the salmon. The staff is extremely attentive and service excellent. Highly recommend dining here.

Great place for a date! My wife and I both had tasty steaks and yummy sides. Started with salads that were fresh and flavorful. Staff was very pleasant and the atmosphere was perfect. Not cheap, but well worth the price. gGad we went!

Enjoyed a great lunch after church with family. Selections ranged from burgers to veggie plates. Might be a little pricey on first look but great food and service. Will certainly return soon.

I've been to Bartlett's many times and it's always exactly what I wanted. It's not a foodie crazed menu and it doesn't change except for the specials. I almost always get the same thing, the Asian Steak Salad except sub steak for tuna, it's delicious. The artichokes are typically our started and they come out chargrilled and are also always on point. The drinks are good, their wine bottle prices are very fair and the service is always consistent. Highly recommended for any occasion, they have intimate dining or great for a family.

We recently were in Austin and went to this restaurant. The restaurant was steady and the server was good. The food was very good but overpriced. We had the prime rib but every item was extra. We enjoyed the meal but did not enjoy the bill. We would return if someone else is paying but, for us, we will spend our money at a more reasonable venue.

Nice ambience and the usual good service. Food is generally good especially the spinach and artichoke dip, all time favourite!

It was worthy visiting them... one of the best prime rib I’ve ever had. Service is fast and kind... unfortunately their kitchen messed up with my soup, then I skipped it. Nevertheless the prime rib paid off all the waiting (not too much) and it was worthy the visit. Good beer on tap, and they offered me the dessert (vanilla ice cream). Need to give them a second try. The place is a bit noisy, but ambience, service and furniture is pleasant.

We were recently in Austin and had the pleasure to dine at Bartlett's. The sea bass was the special and according to one of our tablemates - it was delicious ! My wife and I had the prime rib. It was cooked perfectly. The restaurant was busy but service was attentive and prompt. This is our second meal at Bartlett's. We were in Austin 2 years ago and the quality has not diminished. Highly recommend !!

With an old coworker was a wonderful time because the food here is so delicious & the atmosphere lively. We want to thank Jordan M who was truly lovely & made our time even more joyful,
Customer Service not up to par
I've been to Bartlett's several times. I've always been pleased with the delicious food and great customer service. Today the food was excellent, as usual, but a waiter spilled a whole glass of iced tea in my 90 year old mother's lap. She was soaked from the waist down. I understand that accidents happen, and the staff was very apologetic. However, I was stunned when we got the $85. bill. There was no compensation whatsoever for the inconvenience. I thought about leaving immediately when it happened. I would do that next time, but there won't be a next time. I won't be returning.
