good food, great presentation.....fun evening

By ChrisJohnson97 |

Our family dined at Barton G while visiting relatives in Southern California. It was exactly as described, almost over the top. While the food is all very good, it's all about the presentation of each dish (will not spoil it) but very much worth the trip if you are considering it. The food: Bucket of Bones, Strike out sliders....both v good apps. Dinner: Miss Thai Gone, Centurion Lobster, Volcano Lamb Shank, Don't be a Jerk Chicken for Two, Lobster Trap Truffle Mac N Cheese....all very good portions and prepared well. We also had a variety of fries. Its trendy, popular, loud, dark, expensive, seen and be seen...perfect for LA.

Maybe the atmo but not the food..

Barton G is a simple place with not much caracter itself being just one square room, rather crowded with tables. The signature of the place is the adventure of the dishes, prepared in a fun way, some history related. On the other hand, the food itself was a total dissapointment and for sure nothing out of the ordinary. Pricing of the menu might be based on the show of how it is brought to you but is really not worth the food itself. Don't go there for the food. Staff was very friendly and service was good. And overall, people were having fun.

Wife's Bday Dinner

By rbrown081 |

Before I go into detail about my personal experience, I would like to say that this is a fabulous restaurant that really focuses on the visual presentation of the meals. Waiting Area: We made our reservation for 7:15 and were seated within a 15 minute period as it was very crowded. The waiting area is right next to the entrance and their is only a small couch for about 5 people to sit so we were forced to stand. This was very awkward as the restaurant is actually very small and many waiters had to come thru the standing area to serve guest in the other room right across from the entrance. Service: Once we were seated, I had the unfortunate placement of being seated in the aisle where waiters were constantly walking behind me and often bumping into me. The server we had was great and her cheery personality made all the previous issues we experienced fade away. She was very attentive throughout our entire meal and bubbly personality made for an enjoyable time. Food: The food was surprisingly very good. I expected the meals to be decent and more so focused on presentation but this was not the case. The portions were reasonable and were very filling. I had the Lobster mac and cheese which came in a nice little mouse trap with real cheese attached to the end and my wife had the Salmon. We were both really satisfied with our meals. Presentation/Recommendation: The presentation of all the food items, as expected, was excellent. The restaurant truly is creative with their presentation and makes for a fun experience, especially if you have multiple people within your party. I would definitely recommend all to try out this restaurant without hesitation. This recommendation is not just for the presentation, which is a great feature, but simply for the wonderful food as well.

Place to Celebrate!

Stylish, clean restaurant with a whimsical flare and fantastic service. Reminded me of VEGAS! Every entree, including drinks, brought out as a presentation! Perfect place to celebrate a birthday for a dining experience.

A Theatrical Experience

By Bryan Tsunoda |

Barton G is both a restaurant and a live theater. While they serve excellent food & drink, they are probably better known for their whimsical dishes and flashy drinks. If you are a stick in the mud, don't come here. Barton G’s signature craft cocktails are made with liquid nitrogen and my Buddhalicious was steaming away in front of a laughing Buddha complete with a mallet and gong. The was a sweet fruity martini with a frozen pear vodka popsicle. The Diamonds Are Forever was made with Citrus vodka, triple sec and lemonade and served with a with a citrus vodka popsicle and a sugar stick. The Centurion Lobster Biscuits N Gravy was a lobster version of crab cakes. A life-size centurion helmet (think Roman gladiator) shielded the Maine lobster cakes atop spring onion buttermilk biscuits and surrounded with a delicious sauce made with shellfish and fresh herbs. We ordered the Great American Steak is available as a 16oz Boneless Ribeye. It was served a perfect medium rare and topped with a delicious black pepper bordelaise and an herbed bone marrow butter. The bone marrow is scooped and placed on top of the steak. We noticed that the signature dessert is a tray of petit fours is served in the shadow of a Marie Antoinette bust covered with a towering pink cotton candy wig. Definitely a place if you like taking pictures and having fun with your food & drink!

Greed!

By iCritic |

Barron G has a great thing going. Theatrical food that is actually well prepared with good service. Why not 5 stars - because they are greedy ridiculous! After making reservations a month ago, they tried to stick us at a two-too table set for four people. Seriously? There was no way we could fit and there was literally no room for food. We didn’t even need to ask to be moved because they literally couldn’t pack us into the space. They moved us to a table next to the front door instead. We watched as they unsuccessfully tried to seat three other foursomes at that table and the people complained and got moved. H E L L O - it’s a two-top!!! Our table sucked, but since we had guests, we didn’t want to make a fuss. But the hostess station and a door kept interrupting our dinner and finishing our experience. Which was too bad because the food was good - but after dripping $600 on dinner for 4 people, it should be!

Worth It

By diane q |

We had dinner here on a Thursday night. We had a reservation and needed it. They require everyone to order dinner. It’s pricey but I think it’s worth it, especially for a special occasion. This place is known for the presentation but the food was delicious. In our party we ordered the swordfish, the lobster and biscuits, and a filet. Everything was cooked perfectly. My favorite was the appetizer of lobster poptarts. We also ate their signature dessert- Marie Antoinette “Let Them Eat Cake”. Service was excellent. We had a great time.

AMAZING

By kadams1006 |

I dinned here 10/14/16 and enjoyed the entire experience. Our reason for going was to check out Marie Antoinette-Let them eat cake and it was everything I imagined. The server was very nice and helpful and the food was amazing. We had the LOBSTER TRAP TRUFFLE MAC N CHEESE (my fav hands down) and the LURED BY SALMON also amazing. I was so stuffed, I could not "suck in" to take my pictures at the end of the night haha. I would recommend this dinning experience to anyone in LA or visiting. It is truly #anexperiencelikenoother xoxo Kenya A.

Birthday party

By Dan S |

This place is in the heart of LA and very popular on social media. So I expected the food to be bad and service to be worse. I was really very very wrong! The food was amazing in fact the food was so good I would go back just for the food not even all the fun gimmicks. The service was amazing our waitress was a tiny tiny girl and she really did a great job taking care of us and getting around the restaurant. The one bad thing was the restaurant is very very small for what they're trying to do. There's no way to move around I'm sure the fire marshal will not be happy because there's no way to get out in case of a fire. The over packed this place with tables. My chair was always being bumped by someone trying to walk by. They should fix that. They should also have better lighting with all the photos and videos being taken its like being in a disco and you can't see the Amazing food when it come. Plus iPhones suck in the dark so as you can see from my photos it wasn't so good. We booked an early table at 6:30 and it was a good idea I saw people waiting outside to get in. Waiting for there 7:30 reservations. Anyways great food Great fun! 480 bucks for 5 people so bring lots of money it's not cheap for this kind of fun :)

Exciting Presentation of fine eating

By monepat |

The environment is beautifully staged with a twist of creative presentation of meals. Never would have imagined the extent the restaurant use to appeal to your senses and give you a delightful and satisfying meal. Each meal is accompanied with its own theme.

Road trip

By Daryl R |

What a spectacular event. This restaurant was truly an event. Expensive but worth the experience. Every meal was a creation beyond the expected. So cool. We had swordfish with a real sword. Bucket of bones two buckets with wings ribs and chips so yummie. Salad was ridiculous. Wheelbarrow with a watering can and packets of seeds to add to the salad. Dessert was out of this world. Molten gold bats with marsh mellows and chocolate. A tall head of hair made from candy floss or cotton candy. Just worth ordering for the photo opportunity. Steaks came with huge forks. It was amazing. They will however ask you when you arrive if you are having a full meal. We said yes until we saw the serving sizes. . The servers get upset if you don't go the whole bang shoot. Anyway we will revisit. Bucket of bones as an entree was great. That filled me up unintentionally so couldn't order a main.

The whimsical world of foodland…an adventure in gastronome!

By BonnnieTravel |

How can I explain my time at Barton B??? Engaging, amusing, fantastical!!! This restaurant is fun and reminds me of my childhood…. in all its playful glory. The food was fantastic and the presentation playful; popcorn shrimp in a popcorn popper, lobster pop tarts served in a toaster…so Alice in wonderland!!! I must do a shout out to my server Yani who was fun and attentive and Charlotte the manager who was professional, knowledgeable & polite. She went out of her way to make my time extra enjoyable.

Awesome 40th Birthday!

I had the BEST time here for my 40th! Everything was perfect! The food, staff, ambiance & presentation was exceptional!

Excellent Dining Experience

By GGrande07 |

Excellent Dining Experience! We saw the pictures on the website of what to expect, but it was better than I expected. Food was so delicious! I had the filet and was one of the best ones I ever had. Someone in our group had the electric chicken and the two of them couldn’t finish it the portion was large. They said it was delicious. All the presentations we spectacular Deserts were Amazing A must do!

Fun One Time

By gr8fish2017 |

This was a fun experience with five grandkids (from ages 6-16). They loved the dramatic displays of food, drinks and dessert. Everything was yummy and the service was great. However, the bill for dinner was the same as a round-trip business ticket from LA to DC. So, be prepared!!

UNIQUE AND AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

By Eden A |

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! WOW......What a unique, beautiful, funny and excellent experience we had here. My daughter brought me here yesterday for Mother's Day; mother and daughter date night. She was here before, but for me it was my first time. She knew I was planning to come here a few times in the last couple of birthdays, but something always came up and I never came here. I was SO happy she told me we are coming here. Our experience exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is not too big, the food is delicious , and the presentations of everything they are bringing out is just outstanding! You find yourself amazed with every dish or drink they are bringing to your table, or others around you. It makes you laugh and amazed. We really enjoyed every minute here. To my opinion, whoever thought of this kind of presentations of food and drinks is genius ! So unique and beautiful! If you didn't visit this place, I really recommend doing it, especially for a special occasion, and /or, if you have guests from out of state. You will have an unforgettable experience here.

Wort management ever!!!

By Andrea M |

This was the worst experience I had in a restaurant in my entire life. I've been to amazing restaurants and the attention of this place sucks. Specially the manager. As soon as we got there we got assigned a tiny table where the 4 of us could barely fit so we asked to get a bigger table because we where gonna get all plates and drinks that come with big presentations and they did move us. The drinks and the appetizers where ok the presentation was nice and they didn't taste bad. But when they brought the entrees to the table everything was ok until I grabbed a helmet that is part of the decoration to take a picture with it as they advertise and they promote the place saying that is the most instagramed restaurant in history and they encourage people to take pictures and interact with the presentations so I put the helmet on and when I was putting it again in the base where is supposed to be the helmet broke. The hairy piece came out of the base and the steel helmet fell on the table breaking many glasses and spreading glass all over our barely touched meals. The waiters took forever to come clean up the mess and nobody apologized. We had to give away our meals because they where dangerous to eat because of the broken glass that was everywhere and not only they never offered to replace the entrees because the kitchen was already closed but they wanted to charge us with the barely touched entrees that we had to give away because of the broken glass that the poorly constructed helmet caused. I had to call the manager and he was SO RUDE AND NASTY that I didn't punch him in the face because I didn't want to go to jail but he totally deserved it. He said that if the helmet broke on top of our meals it was my fault when I've seen plenty of videos online of them promoting the restaurant and saying that people can take pictures with the decoration and even one of the waiters took out of the base a giant boxing globe that came with one of the drinks for my friend to take pictures with it and they said we could touch everything. So I had to call the waiter again and try to speak with another manager and nobody else showed up to give an explanation so I had to explain the waiter over and over again that we had no issue with paying for the appetizers the drinks and the dessert that we ate but we where definitely not paying for meals that we couldn't even take two bites of and even less since they where not even replaced or anything. They didn't even replace the water glasses and at the end of the meal we saw they had tiny pieces of glass at the bottom so that could have been really dangerous. After three attempts of fighting over it they finally accepted to take the meals that couldn't eat out of the bill but it was only because I was starting to make a scene. Their costumer service sucks specially their manager I don't know his name but it's a guy with an accent and most likely gay. I don't know if this was some kind of discrimination issue because I am transgender and so are the other girls that where with me and sometimes gay guys show a lot of attitude toward us. The place is exaggeratedly overpriced and the food wasn't that good. The only good thing is the pictures you can take for Snapchat or instagram. I will never go back there and I wouldn't recommend nobody to go. There's plenty of other good restaurants in town.

Whimsy - Great Food

By traaveljunkie |

It's rare that a restaurant can make you feel like a kid again while still holding a high caliber of food. Can't wait to go back again. Get the bag of bones and fries! Delicious!

So unique

By Globalbesties |

This place is so cool. The presentation is like no other. I almost wanted to order random things just to see the presentation of each plate. The plates where so big that we needed an extra table just to hold all of our dishes. Popcorn shrimp comes out in a whole popcorn machine. 1 dish came with a video game style toy. I had sliders I think served in a full size baseball glove with a ball and adult size baseball bat. Something else came with a huge helmet lol. You just have to see it to believe it. The drinks are grand presentations also. The food was pretty good. I would say it's a diet breaker place thou. The cotton candy and chocolate in drinks and huge size deserts will definitely pack on a few lbs. it's a great place thou to impress a date or celebrate something. Our total meal price was $500+

So much YES

By Travel_Lovin |

First off, it is BUSY, so expect that there will be noise. For us, that added to the experience/mood. Our food was absolutely spectacular, and yes, the props are over the top, but we loved the kitsch angle. The lobster Mac and cheese is out of this world. The lobster pop tarts as well. The only downside: our waitress wanted to see my out of state id, and I have a hard time getting out of my wallet. Seems the clear window wasn't good enough to check the birthdate, and she insisted I try and pry it out. Didn't work. Then she tried, nada. My husband tried, no luck. She called the manager over. It was ridiculous, especially since I'm close to 50 (thanks for the compliment; but come on...). Great location, and so much fun.

Surprise Birthday Dinner

By Kankour |

...And what an incredible surprise it was! This was truly a uniquely amazing experience with the over exaggerated props and presentations, they go above and beyond to present your cocktails and entrées in a unique and extraordinary fashion. The staff was pleasant and knew all the different menu details and options, they were quite helpful. The food was delicious, we had a special preset menu; I ordered The Great American Steak with the giant fork it was probably the best steak I’ve ever had in my life. My friends told me the chicken dish; the “COQ AU CHAMPAGNE” was just okay, as the flavors were more on the sweet side. The sampler “BBQ of Bones” were very good; chicken wings and brisket were a hit! The table favorite (hands down) was the pre appetizer (amuse bouche); the HOLY SMOKES NITRO POPCORN, holy yum! This was such a great experience, I highly recommend. It’s on the pricey side, cocktails started at $24.00 oh my! I don’t know how much the entrees were but I know it was a heavy ticket price per person. My only critique is that the seating area is very small. We were a party of 11 and my poor sister sat at the head of the table and people kept bumping into the back of her chair constantly, we tried to slightly move over the tables but we had very little wiggle room. Other than that, it was such a great experience, unique and out of the ordinary. If you wanna impress someone definitely bring them to Barton G, but remember, it’ll cost you. There’s valet parking and reservations are a must, especially for larger parties.

Fantastic Everything!

By Sylvia R |

Barton G's has it dialed in! We had an anniversary celebration with 9 people, and the pre-set menu we selected was a good value with plenty of food. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. This is a real dining experience everyone should try with a group (not a romantic dinner for 2), with props and crazy presentation, but the quality of the food does not suffer at all. We loved it!

A “one off” unique experience !!!!!!

By Jennifer R |

What an amazing night for our last night in LA ! We have never seen anything like it ! Food as Art - dishes as entertainment - completely out of the box ! Our popcorn was in a huge cocktail glass and cooled by ? Dry ice with truffles and Parmesan cheese - sensational Followed by lobster pop ups served in toasters , tomahawk steak served in a steers head ( see photo ) Desserts really just have to be seen to be believed Luckily the quality of the food was comparable to its presentation.Attila the chef is a genius and fully deserves his recent accolades Do not miss this !!!!

Toothsome food in wild presentations

By Elsa C. L. |

A unique and enjoyable experience😃! Thanks to my son’s boss🎬🌹. Their lobster pop tarts are flaky, crunchy, creamy and yummy. My Buddhalicious mocktail was with lychee and strong. It tasted good. My son was quite happy with his martini and his medium fillet mignon with mashed potatoes. My aztec rockfish was a flaky, soft, light fish that was tasty. The avocado chunks had a smooth texture and creamy taste. It was so good😋! I liked the burnt pineapple in the salsa which was slightly spicy. It’s a filling meal that we didn’t have room for dessert. Our order taker was well-spoken, knowledgeable about their menu and pleasant. Service by all the staff is attentive and courteous.

Excellent presentation.

By misscancer77 |

The presentation from drinks to food are fun and over the top big. The food was delicious. I recommend the to start off with the Laughing Bird Popcorn Shrimp which is brought to you in an actual popcorn machine with popcorn. For the entrée I recommend the boneless rib eye, it is delicious. For dessert the chocolate indulgence.

Not worth the money

Fancy Chuck E. Cheese's with Good Food

By Renee S |

"Hi, I'm calling from Barton G. to confirm your reservation for 6:45pm tomorrow. I want to remind you about our dress code. While jackets and ties are not required, we do not allow shorts, sneakers or flip flops." "We're from New York," I responded. "We know how to dress for dinner." "We also require everyone in the party to have a full meal. You can't just order dessert." "Uh, ok? Is that not what people do in LA? Because I would like to eat a full meal." At this point, I'm seriously second-guessing my decision to give Barton G. a try. I mean, I know it's supposed to be a silly and whimsical restaurant, but this pre-call and the numerous e-mails I received in advance suggested that the clientele of this restaurant was...how shall I say...different. Anyway, Dirk and I showed up promptly for our 6:45 pm reservation. After the hostess confirmed and I assured her (AGAIN) that everyone in our party would be ordering a full meal, we were seated at a small table for 2. The restaurant was mostly empty at this hour, but Dirk and I observed that an unusually high number of the diners were under the age of 14. "So you took me to fancy Chuck E. Cheese's?" Dirk asked. "Seems so." I replied. I was totally down for the over-the-top-ness of the place, so I wasn't going to let Dirk spoil my mood. I ordered a glass of wine and studied the menu. Our server, Phil, was lovely. We told him we'd like the 'Rake and Ho Salad' and the 'Voodoo Shrimp' to start, followed by the 'Samurai Swordfish' and the 'Studio 54 Disco Ball'. At that point, a table of 4 sat down beside us -- three adults and a tween. They ordered a bunch of fussy drinks that were made with liquid nitrogen. My salad arrived in a wheelbarrow. Honestly, it was cuter than I expected and the salad was quite good. I mean, it was salad so we're not exactly breaking ground here. But still, I enjoyed it. At this point, I'm listening to the table next to me because I can't believe people sometimes. Here is a transcript of the conversation. "What's oxtail?" "It's a type of meat," said the server. "He likes regular sliders, so can we leave the oxtail on the side? He doesn't like truffles either, so please leave those off. And put the onions on the side. He just likes regular burgers. Can you put lettuce and tomato on them? And ketchup?" She continued, "I don't do brussels sprouts. What can I get instead of the brussels sprouts? Do you have a side of pasta maybe?" This went on and on... It was incredible. By this point, our entrees had arrived. First, let me address the actual food, apart from the presentation. My swordfish was cooked well and the flavors were very similar to the miso cod at Nobu. It was a nice piece of fish, served under an awkward samurai sword tower that made it difficult to eat. Dirk's meatball was as flavorful as it was large. It was served over buccatini pasta, which for some reason was CUT UP INTO LITTLE PIECES like you would do for a toddler. OK...I was going along with all of it until this point. Yes, it's corny and a spectacle, but I was willing to play along if the food was good and sophisticated." But Barton G lost me with the cut-up buccatini. I don't know, man, just serve a different shape of pasta if this is what you need to do. Now on to the presentation... It's very well done. You can ooh and ahh over the clever towers they've constructed for the food, but having two very large structures between you and your dinner companion is NOT conducive to a comfortable dining experience. This effect is amplified by the fact that the table for 2 we had was pretty narrow, so you didn't have much room to work with. In summary, Barton G. is a fun novelty experience if you're in the mood for it or if you have a group of tween girls or a dinner companion that you're not actually interested in talking to. The food was well executed for the most part, but it's clear that the majority of the effort and creativity goes into presentation. If you like to eat with a four-foot fork sticking up from your plate, this place is not to be missed!

A totally fun dining experience

By travelin_friend |

My first time in Los Angeles and my cousin insisted that Barton G’s had to be on our must do list. It is everything you hear. Fun, whimsical, outstanding service (our waiter was Yani). And the food is surprisingly good. The only disappointment was the dessert. We ordered the Red Velvet. As with everything the presentation was over the top but the actual cake was just okay. Nonetheless we had a great time! A total dining experience.

Fantastic!!

I LOVE this place! This was my second time here, as my plans to visit the Miami location was affected by hurricane Irma. The staff was amazing, helpful and accomodating and the food was phenomenal, plentiful, and flavorful. The drinks were also delicious. The lighting was perfect and the atmosphere was whimsical!! I will be returning again!

Always Good for a Special Occasion

By islascaribe |

Barton G is such a amazing place and I recommend it to everyone looking for great food with a special ambiance. The interior of the restaurant is really lovely with gorgeous fabrics and its super, super clean. Our group even commented on how they can possibly keep their fabrics so clean, but somehow they do and it shows. The wait staff is very personable and attentive and the busboys are on top of everything! We've been here several times for special occasions and have never had a bad meal. The food is always very good, which is surprising because there is a certain amount of kitsch involved in the service but it works and its fabulous! The signature drinks are pricey at $20 but they are worth it, and they are amazingly good. Its comfortable and beautiful without being pretentious and its really nice that they have a dress code because its fun to dress up now and then, even though its California. All in all, Barton G does what they do really well and its a pleasure to go here.

Sweet 16 - Fun but Disappointing

By missaceclub |

Fun restaurant, food and presentation was great and all that other reviewers have mentioned. However, I booked this restaurant months in advance for my daughter’s 16th birthday. I put in the reservation details online that we were celebrating a 16th birthday and spoke with someone at the restaurant twice in advance. Despite that, we were seated in the side room up against a curtain instead of the lively main dining room and they never acknowledged her birthday during our meal or did anything special as they promised over the phone. Such a disappointment for a once in a lifetime celebration!

LOVE

By DivaS47 |

SERIOUSLY LOVE!!!!!!!!!!! I had their polynesian fish and it was just amazing with their sticky rice. My only regret is not going there in Miami last month. Their service was just unbelievably amazing!!

The most fun I've had in a long time

By Phyllis M |

This is a gimmicky, quirky and fun restaurant. The food is good and served in a very unique way. For example, meat is served with HUGE forks. Swordfish is served with a HUGE sword. Popcorn shrimp is served in a popcorn machine. Spaghetti is served with a disco ball and a long playing record. The most fabulous item was Marie Antoinette's Head. It's a TALL pompadour made out of cotton Candy. There were 12 of us- 7 adults and 5 kids, ages 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8. We all had a great time!

Whimsical and Delicious

By misspomona |

We went for a friend's birthday since she knew she wanted the Marie Antoinette cake/cotton candy. Everything we ordered came in a whimsical way and it was delicious. We started with drinks that include their own special coasters (different depending on the drink). We choose the Deviled Eggs and Popcorn Shrimp for appetizers. The eggs came in their own chicken coop and the popcorn shrimp in it's own popcorn machine. They were delicious. I also ordered a Cesar Salad that came with it's own garden tools and a teeny-tiny cheese grater! (*Note: the Cesar Salad is big enough for an entire table, or it's own separate meal.) Our dinners were; Lobster Mac 'n Cheese (served on a giant mousetrap), the Salmon (accompanied by a giant hooked fish), and the Beef for Two (which included a trident sized fork). Everything we had was well seasoned, delicious and fun. Again, dessert was the predetermined Marie Antoinette cotton candy. Since we had advised that it was for a birthday, they included a fourth-of-July like sparkler that only added fun to the mannequin head with three foot high cotton candy. It also come with a cup of edible berries, delicious & fresh whipped cream and a very good slice of very tasty cake (after all, what's Marie Antoinette without some cake). The only thing that stops me from giving Barton G's an excellent rating is how small accommodations are. The small tables are smushed right next to each other and the grandeur of the items is overwhelming sometimes. I believe it to be deliberate since the food items are over the top, and the staff is nice about trying to clear bulk right away, but it was still slightly inconvenienced to have my back right up against someone's arm (from the table behind me). The restaurant staff seem to be prepared since when we got there with some gifts, they immediately offered to 'check' them (I got a numbered ticket) to allow us table room. I was glad the hostess had insisted since our table was way smaller than I anticipated. However, the food and experience are amazing and I would definitely go again. (Expect to pay about $75-$100 per person.)

If you’re looking for a fun place with amazing food and service, Barton G is a must. The Lamb Shank is mouth watering. Make sure to save room for dessert cause that’s an experience in and of itself. Highly recommend.

Mediocre and rude!

By Solidly_Dubaian |

My daughter reserved a table using OpenTable. We arrived in time but they started whispering to each other and asked my wife if all six of us were there. She said my husband is parking the car and will be there momentarily. Naturally they wanted everyone available before seating us. I arrived 10 minutes later and informed them that our party was all there. Another 10 minutes later they said that the can seat us at the open area and not the main dining hall because our 10 and 7 year old boys were in shorts. That too they said was going to be a long long wait. According to the lady it was clearly mentioned on their website as well as the confirmation email as well as the telephone call we got..... NOT!!!! They then said we can go back to the hotel and change the boys and come back.... it was obvious what had happened here.... they were over booked and didn't have a table. And instead of being apologetic and accommodating they were abrupt and rude. So we walked out telling them as much. Anyway, it worked out to our favor as our friends that are there told us the food and service were mediocre and we didn't miss much. We ended up at Koi which is always a great ambiance, good food and wonderful service!

Food is over the top and kitschy but super fun! Service: Not so much

By wheretogonext1 |

Let me start by saying the restaurant is very gimmicky but that is where the fun comes in...deviled eggs served in a chicken coop, lobster pop tarts served in an oven...a lot of flair and liquid nitrogen. We also had a main dish and sides. The spinach was great, the quinoa was fine. Nothing exciting and not fun presentation like the others. This is a great place for a celebration and a group. Somewhat impractical for a group of two which we were. The food was actually quite good, the service was average. Had to wait for plates, have water refilled, etc. The biggest disappointment came from the teams reaction to something that happened at our table. The person bringing our food dropped an entire ramekin of sauce down my friends Louis V. purse. It was covered in sauce. Literally. And while he ran to get a towel to clean it up, little apology was offered. The manager saw it, our server saw it, but nothing was done about it. No real apology, not even a complimentary dessert. I would have expected a lot more in a way of an apology. We wouldn't have even taken them up on dessert, but the gesture would have gone a long way. Even an offer to have the purse professionally cleaned would have been apropos. So, go for the fun but don't expect wonderful service...I cant even say to expect what you pay for because our bill was quite high but the service did not match.

Fun!!

Fun fun fun restaurant! The display was so whimsical and extravagant. It’s a great place to come and take fun pictures. The food was not bad, the best was definitely the truffle lobster mac n cheese - highly recommended! We also got the popcorn shrimp, surf and turf and the dolla bill dessert. The total for two people was about $200 without drinks. Not a cheap dinner but worth it for a special occasion.

Great food and really great fun

This place is unique in the presentation of your meal. Every drink and dish is an exciting surprise. This is more than just "dinner out"... Barton G's is an adventure. Bring you camera and a huge smile.... you're gonna love it.

Just a fun night out

By adalbert3 |

This is such a great place to take people from out of town (or a family or group of friends)--they always leave smiling. Teenagers love it, but adults like it too---because it is fun. The mixed drinks (Sabrinatini & Diamonds are Forever) start off the excitement, and it continues with each course. The food is decent, but it is not the main highlight--it is the presentation or the happening. We had the Rake & Ho Garden salad, the charred octopus, the Laughing Bird Popcorn Shrimp, Gone Aztec Fishing, Chopped salad and Lobster Apicius. We finished with the Sabrina Sundae dessert.

Just an experience you try once

By Standupman28 |

Don't go in there wondering why you're paying 28 dollars for fried shrimp that you can get for 4 dollars at Popeyes. Go there with your friends or your spouse and just enjoy yourself. You're going for the pictures and for the things you'll see. It's pricey but its cheaper than Disney.

You will leave here with an empty wallet and an empty belly

By kisssmee |

Prior to coming to this place I read the reviews and saw pictures for the food. You have to make reservations and you won't be seated unless your entire party is there. They have valet for $8 or street parking. Upon arrival the waiter was friendly and helpful in questions with the menu. I ordered the Mouse Trap Mac & Cheese and the taste was average. I swear Kraft is much more cheesier than this dish. Everything served is so whimsical and very out there out of the box kind of thing. But that's the reason for coming here is to see your food in some sort of fancy get up, not to feel full or enjoy your food, but rather enjoy its presentation. Would I come back here again? Yeah, if I feel like spending $40 for a dish that will not satisfy my belly.

Fun and unique!

By SOAJax |

Fun place for a special occasion. For dinner had the shrimp, chicken for two, Mac and Cheese and the Sundae. It was presented in a crazy fun way. The food was excellent as well. We also had a cotton candy drink that was listed as non alcoholic but they were happy to add vodka. We also had a minor reality celebrity sighting, so was a fun time. Total was $300 with tip.

Fun Dining Experience

By Ki-lo-li |

We chose this restaurant as it looked fun and thought my young son would really enjoy all the different ways the food is served. Unfortunately we slept the whole way through our visit but the rest of the party had a great time. Conveniently located on La Cienega, next door to Nobu, and with valet parking this restaurant is very easy to get to. The décor is modern and the atmosphere inviting but it is the presentation of the food that everyone is interested in. You can't help but stare as the amazing creations are brought out from the kitchen. We decided to order lots of starters and skip mains, we enjoyed every single one. The desserts are huge and the baked Alaska was incredible. I didn't drink the cocktails personally but they looked delicious and fun.

cirque du soleil of Restaurants

By j h |

First we were a party of three, they refused to seat us until our party was complete, and I totally understand ( having worked as a host in high-end busy restaurants and jazz clubs) that said the table next to us was seated with an incomplete party of three. The third person arriving well after the elaborate drinks were served. We had to complain to get our glasses of champagne and a Moscow mule that had been ordered before the incomplete table of three had been seated. Our server never engaged us about the menu, we weren't even certain who our server was. The food was surprisingly better than expected given the reviews about the food. The caesar salad could have used more anchovies but that is a personal taste. My dining partner ordered the funnel cake which is not a favorite so I would not have liked it anyway. My dining partner felt we had been profiled (the seating issue and the delayed service). This creates a catch-22, you give mediocre service because you think you will not get a decent tip so you get a mediocre tip because you gave poor service.

So much fun!

By Adrienne Toumayan |

I went to Barton G earlier this week to celebrate my birthday with a small group and it was so much fun! I actually discovered the restaurant through somebody's Instagram story last year - I saw clips of these crazy meals and I Googled it to find out what it was. Of course, I decided I needed to go and I was not disappointed! It's a super fun atmosphere and all of the servers were very nice and friendly. Everything you order whether it's food or drink comes in some ridiculous presentation - it's amazing. The food is good too! Definitely recommend it - especially with a group of friends.

Pricey but fun

By Tara B |

If you are in LA, I recommend visiting. It is pricey but it is fun, whimsical and the food is delicious. Make it your one special night out. It will bring a smile to your face.

Once in a lifetime experience!

By Victoria Y |

Wow, wow and wow! Highly recommended place for dinner! The food is not only served in the most unexpected way but also has awesome taste! The restaurant itself is quite small but cozy. They have valet parking. The only disappointment of the evening was our first waitress, red-headed girl who was extremely unfriendly and talked to us with disapproval and even disgust when we asked her to talk slower since her accent was a bit hard to understand. We wanted to leave the place after this situation without even ordering anything but after she was removed and we had a lovely waiter who changed the whole experience! Big thanks to the hostess for her friendliness!

What a Blast!

By Pinman59 |

Taken totally by surprise by this place. What a great dining experience! Every time servers brought out another dish, the whole restaurant was entertained... from the appetizers to the desserts, it was great. The servers were enjoying themselves as they were very attentive to our table, and made the experience all the more fun for all. The food was excellent. Smaller portions, but that was more than made up for by the quality of the presentation!

fun and delicious

By Mara Adelman |

Service was excellent. It is a bit over the top for presentation, and easy to overlook the food, but the important part, the food is delicious. It made for a fun evening, all customers seem to be enjoying themselves, and the fact that the restaurant also concentrated on having good food made Barton G. stand out.

It's more about the experience

By Bruno D |

..then the food itself. Very funny and creative, but do not expect to have the food experience of your life. It is mandatory to book way in advance. I definitely recommend it for a calibration like a birthday etc.

Wow what a great experience

This restaurant is so amazing! It is entertaining - have your cameras ready! You look forward to how the new meal will come out! The quality of the food is amazing and unique. Great service! Would highly recommend if you are looking for an experience!

You go for the SHOW not the quality of the food - but it DELIVERS an EXPERIENCE !!

By kim r |

It's hard to rate Barton G. You go here for the show. The way the food and drinks are presented are second to NONE !!! The creativity is not matched ANYWHERE. If you go with that mindset, your evening will be filled with fun and laughter. If you expect that since you are paying outrageous prices you will be served by excellent wait staff that is French trained, or your steak will be rubbed and pampered and cooked exactly as you request ... well then don't go to Barton G. .... For the best steak Go to CUT at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Dining at Barton G blows you away in the way the food is presented. The things they think of to the impress the diner ... you wonder why you never thought to serve guests in your home in a similar fashion. It will run through your mind ... um .. I have something like that in my kitchen .. I need to remember to plate my food like this .... THAT IS WHY you come to Barton G. We came with friends that have never heard of Barton G and although they have gone to some fancy places, and those expensive tasting menus that are very chic right now in the sushi style Michelin Star restaurants ... they wanted to be wowed. I explained the tables were very close to each other. The restaurant is always crowded and noisy. They try to rush you (so they can re-seat your table) which is simply fended off by saying NO WE ARE NOT DONE !!! If you understand all this coming in here, and are aware that the prices are very high for what they offer .... you will actually have a fabulous night of entertainment thrown in for the cost of your expensive drinks and dinner. The liquid nitrogen drinks are fun. Why not drink a drink that comes to you SMOKING !!! Do not leave without ordering dessert. Even if no one wants dessert, even if you don't intend to even take one bite of dessert , ORDER DESSERT !!!! In between those items, the Rake and Ho salad is also something to order JUST TO SEE how it is served. THAT is what Barton G is ALL ABOUT. You can eat in many places for the most tasty dishes ever .... but you can ONLY FIND FOOD SERVED like this at Barton G. Understand that, and you will have a great time. Expect something else and you will be among all those complainers that came here expecting something Barton G just isn't !! Come here and have fun.

Best dinner this year

Had the pleasure of going to this restaurant for a fun friends birthday celebration. Caitlin was an amazing server. The manager, Charlotte, was amazing as well and the desserts were over-the-top! If you’re looking for a place to indulge, this is it!

Amazing experience! Definitely worth the money / I took lots of photos. The staff are very creative and nice. I will definitely come back with friends next time :)

Crazy display with good food

By Viola Kwok |

Barton G is known for the crazy display of all their dishes. We went there in the Mother’s evening with my parents, so crowded. I wasn’t expected too much and did not have high hopes for this restaurant, since we went there because of the fun display. However, even there are so many people, the food quality is still really good! LAUGHING BIRD POPCORN SHRIMP Crispy laughing bird popcorn shrimp and spiced popcorn, with Sriracha aioli and sweet chili sesame dipping sauces. Display in popcorn machine. The popcorn shrimp is very in flavor, and fried really crispy, but not greasy! Both of the dipping sauces really match the shrimp! Marie Antoinette's Head - Let Them Eat Cake This is the one that makes me want to try out this place! Who does not look food for eyes!? This is the dream for girls! Pink color, edible pearls, berries, whipped cream, pink cake, and cotton candy. We cannot finish even 1/4 of the cotton candy, and it ended up super sweet and sugary! Eating the berries with the whipped cream are the perfect match. The cake is the one that really surprised me. The sponge cake is really moist, not too sweet. Covered by slightly salty strawberry cream cheese, the edible pearls are tiny pops of this cake! This is my new favorite cake! Others are okay, but not my favorite, so did not include any review.

Poor compensation for inattentive service.

By Michael M |

i get there and they say Its required to order an entree, okay(proceeded), I told the waitress I don't eat meat, he said okay(proceeded) I ordered an berton real g lasagna, he went on with it. I said what if I don't like it, can I send it back, he said "no we can't do that" I said okay(proceeded) I get the 'special dish' brought out to me, and began to take a few bites into it, I liked it as he checked in but didn't refill my glass of water. I take a few more bites and something wasn't right as I chewed on something chewy and meat flavored. I asked the manager if this had meat in it. the lights were reall dim like their service, no pun intended. she said yes oxtail. my response :/.. I told her I don't eat meat, and she says well you knew you don't eat, so why you order it. I can take responsibility cause I aint read the details, but I failed to mention to her for some reason that I already told her waitress this and he let me order the dish :/. so i admit my wrongs and ask if there was anything we can do about this. she says "no there's nothing we can do." The agenda has then been understood after a day or 2 of reflection cause I was reall hurt y'all for real. I tried to eat around the meat and I couldn't do it no more, and I expessed to the waiter what was going on and he looked like it won't his problem and he couldn't do anything. He said I ain't have to tip him which I didn't and he should've been a better listening. if I had a bad food allergy it would've been terrible, but I felt disrespected in a upscale restaurant for their food to be already precooked and served for the price of 42 dollars :/... I got a togo box and I just gave the food away to someone that night and gave em a laugh or two about my situation and it was cool, but I won't be going back to that spot and if you do decide to go, please pay attention and proceed with caution, and act accordingly to what's right or wrong regardless of the social setting, because I really folded with this new experience and I feel like they got over on me, and of course I was naive, but I know better now. I typed all this stuff with it being 3 days after the visit so I can't make this up.

Super Fun Experience

By TravelingCee |

We went here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The presentation of the drinks and food were outrageous and over the top. It was different and definitely fun to experience. The food overall was decent. Everything we had was pretty delicious besides the rib-eye. Not that the rib-eye wasn’t good but for the price, we were expecting something more flavorful. The tables are on the smaller side and kind of cramped together so it’s hard to eat with such big presentations. Our table was wobbly too so we afraid our drinks were going to spill. Although it’s definitely on the pricier side, it’s definitely something to experience. TIP: try to book and early reservation so it doesn’t feel so tight and cramped out. Once the tables next to you fill up it’s hard to move around.

Promotion celebration

By bballwey |

This was a great place to have a fun, entertaining meal! The eclectic way dishes are served and the outrageously delivery of drinks makes the whole meal an experience! The lemon martini with nitrogen was absolutely the best drink I've ever had! I've had a lot of them! I would have given them 5 stars but the prices are a little steep for the entrees. But, go!

Not worth the price

By family of four |

This was fine but not worth the price. My 11 year old daughter loved the presentations and the whole experience, but the food was just not good. it tasted like the type of food you would get at a big chain restaurant. And, despite making my reservation a couple months ago, we were seated at the worst table in the place. I assume because we had two pre-teen age kids. I will say the service was very good and fast.

January dinner visit

By GreenBayGal2017 |

WOW.. is all I can say.. you have to experience this place atleast once. Be prepared to spend some money, but its worth it. The presentation of everything is over the top and creative. We way over ordered as the portions are very large. The desserts are crazy.. we ordered the ice cream sundae and it easily could have been enjoyed by 6 people!! Dress to impress! Only thing that ruined it a bit was a crazy guy next to us having a birthday party for his son who was like 8.. he (the dad) was loud and obnoxious.. obviously felt he had money and was entitled to be. It was very unfortunate as we were right next to him and he literally ruined the atmosphere during our dinner. Not to mention the mess they left for the staff to clean up.. money can't buy class unfortunately.

38 hungry men. All amazed

By mickeyc907 |

We came in thinking that we were going to be entertained. By the props and the people and all of the action that was going on. What we found is all of that and so much more. The food and the service was impeccable. The props were incredible. It’s an experience well worth having a dining experience that all should have. Whether for a special occasion or just because you’re there on business. Seriously, eat here you will love it

Good for the experience but just once

By Shazzminderr S |

We went to Barton G for my daughter's college graduation. She insisted on going there as they had a drink and a dessert that shared her name. As we went on a weekday, the place was not very busy. Our service was good and the food presentation was amazing. As for the taste of the food, actually quite good for the price. If you are going there, make sure to Instagram the heck out of every order as this the fun about this place, presentation, presentation, presentation!!!!! But would I go back again, no, this place was way to expensive for the food. But as a one time deal, well worth it!

Very bad service

By ViajeroESQ |

This place is all hoopla. We were a party of 5. The order was delivered piecemeal in a span of about 60 minutes. The waiter was totally disconnected and disappeared from sight. The food is good but not gourmet. It is all about the props. We had to call the manager and ask her to help with our order. She apologized but offered no compensation for the unreasonable delay in serving us our meals. I will not return to this place. No tip should have been due for this mediocre experience. By the way, the waiter did not apologize. Avoid this place.

Love this restaurant! So Fun!!

By Kathleen M |

The food was outstanding. The service excellent. What a great dining experience. They are so creative with the presentation, but in addition, the food was superb.

Love it!!

By MsKiesha |

The staff, ambiance, and seating were all great and the food was delicious!! The restaurant is pricey, but it is worth the experience and presentation! My only critique is the mousetrap Mac n' cheese was tasty, but not as creamy and textured as I anticipated. The portion sizes were abundant and made with keen detail and more creative than some of the photos I saw online prior to my reservation. The bread was a welcomed surprise and different and even the way the napkins were folded were thoughtfully unique. The staff's attire was beautiful and the entire experience was whimsical, fun, and exciting! We even interacted with surrounding tables and exchanged opportunities to take pictures of everyone's creations!! My "damage" was less than expected and I will definitely return soon!

Be Honest...It's about the Presentation, Which is Great Fun!!!

By Cynthia A |

This was my first visit to Barton G and it was awesome!!! All the food is about the creative presentation....kids will love this place and the food will appeal to them. It is not over the top gourmet but it is very good!!! We especially enjoyed the "Lobster Pop Tarts"...delicious and served in a toaster!! Had the "Bucket of Bones"...ribs were very good and tender, as was the lamb. Loved the "Mouse Trap Mac and Cheese" and we added white truffle slices.......Great!!! We also had one of their special cocktails....beautifully presented with a really delicious Vodka Champagne popsicle. Like I said, it is the presentation. We had so much fun looking at all the other tables and what they were ordering. Especially loved the Cotton Candy dessert. You will not believe the large head of pink hair that gets delivered to your table!!! We had awesome attentive service also!! Would love to go back!!

Dining is an art.

By Maria2628 |

My son took me her for my birthday together with the grandkids. The young ones were very entertained with the way their order was arranged. My 7yr old grandson had Mac and Chees served in a big mouse trap with a slice of cheese on the side. My grandaughter chose popcorn shrimpn surrounede with popcorn which was served in a popcorn machine. I had the slide presented to me on a baseball plate with ball and bat. My son had the ribs served in small buckets carried by a skelton. For dessert we all voted for funnel cake on a shooting duck gallery. Comes with a gun to shoot the rows of ducks. We had more fun looking at the food than actually eating it. Great for pics for social media posting. Food is just okay.

So fun!

By AshleyR99 |

We were visiting from Toronto and made sure to visit Barton G. It didn’t disappoint. The food was delicious and the way it’s presented is so unique and fun. Definitely have a camera ready and go hungry!

Best Dinner EVER!!!

By Sandra H |

My girlfriends and I had dinner at Barton G's last week. It was the best time I have ever had. From the second we sat down to the second we left.... IT WAS GREAT!!!! The food was great!! The wait staff we great!! Everyone there was GREAT!!!!! I recommend this place to everyone. You have to come here to get the full affect of a great time.!!!

Entertaining Evening

By Shannon C |

We took our daughter here on a friend’s recommendation and the creativity every step of the way did not disappoint. The food is definitely second to the entertainment, but the entertainment is worth it. The drinks each had its own twist from colored steam rising up to being served on a crystal platter with a large fake diamond. Each entree was served in a super creative way. One fish dish was on a plate with what looked like a fish pole with a fish hook above it. The steak dish had a gigantic fork in it! Like 30” tall. Desserts were crazy. We saw a 3 foot tall dish of cotton candy. We had an amazing funnel cake with dipping sauces served with sparklers in a small carnival game. A working shoot the duck game. Seriously. The waiters seemed frazzled, who can blame them? This place is crazy! Crazy fun!

My son birthday

By lost s |

We celebrated my son's birthday. The restaurant is out of this world , they present the food in away you won't imagine and the waitors were extremely friendly and caring. It was expensive but for a night like this it really worth it. The birthday cake was fabulous .we really enjoyed it and it was one of its kind 👍🏼

Great food, great staff, bad host

By Andrea A |

We made a reservation they Open Table month’s ago so we thought we’d get a decent table. The area is divided into the main dining and another area that used to be the waiting area that was converted to the sitting area. We were seated in that plain waiting area where my husband’s back was hitting the curtain dividing the waiting area and the reception area. When we asked to be seated somewhere else, the male host with blond hair was giving attitude that this is their standard 5 seater and that another table will be available in an hour should we choose to be seated elsewhere. Is it industry standard to have a curtain hit your back while your eating? To top it off, most people seated with us in that area are Asians, blacks and other nationalities. The main dining room is mostly for white people. The food was great. Presentation was fun. Our server Katelyn was amazing. That blond bozo host nearly ruined the night.

Scrumptious room-bad, overpriced food

By LATraveller77 |

Friends took me to this newest WEHO hotspot for my b'day. Like so many "hot" new places, this one will cool down. It has all the earmarks of a permanent tourist destination restaurant. UGH. The waitstaff are direct from Central Casting. It's like dinner theater, and we all know how good the food is at a dinner theater restaurant. As expected, the food is not very good and horribly overpriced (another sign of a tourist destination), plus the presentation is just plain SILLY! I would expect a gimmicky food presentation at a children's restaurant, but not at a place where adults go to eat. Lobster "pop tarts " are served in a "toaster," while the "popcorn " shrimp are served nestled in a miniature faux popcorn machine, etc. Every dish is a production number. No thanks. Ditto the drinks. I had a swell time with the friends whom I see too infrequently, so that's enough to save this place from a "2" rating. The room is gorgeous.

Pure Entertainment

By Erica K |

Eating here is so much more than a meal, its an experience!!! I was worried that all of the focus would be on the presentation, but everything we ordered tasted fantastic too! And to top it off, our service was fantastic from beginning to end! Make sure you pick a seat where you can watch everything going by, that is a show in itself. Can't wait to go back!

Cool to try once

By Joey |

We came to Barton G after we had it in our must do in “while in LA list” The best thing about the restaurant was the presentation. Which in itself is pretty gimmicky. The food was so so. I came in with my 2 younger teenagers. Right off the bat I feel like there’s some segregation of sorts going on, bc we were put in the small room kind of separate from the main restaurant. I don’t know if this was done on purpose but I feel like there was definitely a separation process done. For dinner, we opted to order 3 appetizers (bc I had kids and apps had the most appealing options) and finished with a dessert. The lobster pop tart were ok but nothing great, the wagyu sliders were actually amazing, but $30 for 2 small slider was a bit much I would probably have felt it was worth the money had their been maybe one more slider, bc they were actually really good but $15 a slider, not so much. The popcorn shrimp was good but exactly what it sounds like nothing spectacular but the sauces were great. Finally the dessert presentation was great but honestly the actually dessert fell so short, we did the Dolla dolla bills and literally ate maybe 1/10 of it. There absolutely nothing special or standout out about at all except the presentation. I was the most disappointed in this area. All in all it was great to experience once but I would never do it again. Listen to the reviews that say this!

Giant Fork, Samurai Plate, and etc.

By JedRevolutia |

You should come here if you are looking for bizarre presentation of food. They just have this amazing way of serving their dish and beverages, which is super unique. But if you come here for the food, it is just so-so. But it's a great experience for you if you want to add more collections to your Instagram feed.

Querky Presentation makes for a fun evening

By Mark H |

This restaurant is not so much about the food but about the way it arrives on elaborate presentations. I do not intend to say more about these, as the surprise is what this is all about. I would agree with the reviews which think the food is average at best and slightly overpriced. But that is not the point. This is a fun party place. One tip we had two deserts between 5. We could probably just had 1 and there would still be leftovers.

Wife's Birthday

By GregBrownjr |

We went to Barton G for my wife's birthday, and we did have a reservation for 8:45pm and arrived a little bit earlier about 8:30 or 8:40pm, but was seated right away, so we both like how they actually made the people with a reservation a priority. Not too much to say about this place, but the customer service was great. The food was ok also, we ordered the lobster mac and cheese, the bucket of bones, and the Marie Antoinette head for dessert, but we didn't go there expecting a 5-star meal, you are really just paying for the presentation of the food, which we already knew. Only thing I recommend is if you are going as a couple to maybe share two different appetizers. This is a restaurant you must do at least once.

ROACH CRAWLING OUT OF MY FOOD AT BARTON G, LA

By Noam S |

CRAWLING ROACH OUT OF MY FOOD I am genuinely shocked and disappointed by my recent experience at Barton G. As someone who has dined here many times and always enjoyed the unique atmosphere and creative dishes, I thought it would be the perfect place to bring my family for a special celebration. We flew in from across the country, excited to make unforgettable memories together. Unfortunately, our evening was ruined when I discovered a roach in my food. I couldn’t believe it—after all the anticipation and planning, this was the last thing I expected from a restaurant of Barton G’s reputation. It was both embarrassing and upsetting to have to point this out with my loved ones present, especially after talking up the restaurant for weeks. The staff’s response was lackluster, and it felt like our concerns weren’t taken seriously. This incident completely overshadowed what was supposed to be a joyful family gathering. For the amount of money, time, and effort we invested to celebrate at Barton G, finding a roach in my food was inexcusable. I truly hope Barton G addresses this issue and improves their cleanliness standards. Until then, I cannot recommend this restaurant to others, especially for important occasions.

My daughter's 9th bday celebration

By Arasnuggles |

Wow WOW Wow!!! This was a great experience for my daughter, she loved everything from the beginning to the end. She said it was the best restaurant she's ever been too! She loved the food and the shows that were put on. The food was definitely enough for the three of us. We ordered the Caesar salad was very tasty and seasoned lol. Also ordered the filet mignon with mash potatoes, brussel sprouts, and lobster mac, everything was great. For dessert we ordered the funnel cakes which was perfect because it was three of them, just enough for us lol. Alex was our waitress and he was great with recommendations and hospitality, keep up the good work.

Like no other

This place is one of a kind. Awesome food, ambiance, and service. I think it's a little snug but definitely worth a try.

AMAZING! Fun & delicious!

By Susan A |

We enjoyed an amazing evening at Barton G - starter cocktails of Sabrinatini, Enter the Dragon, and the Mule - great preview. Laughing Bird Popcorn Shrimp - delicious! Four of us shared the Mouse Trip Mac N Cheese, Miss Thai-Gone, Lawn Moo-er for two; everything was delicious, plus the presentation! Very fun family evening - our server Eddie & crew were amazing! And dessert - crazy good Chocolate Indulgence!

Perfect for girls night

By Mariah O |

Great spot for a birthday dinner! I'm a vegetarian and there were several delicious options and the drinks were SO fabulous and presentation was ornate. Definitely a spot for a foodie or fans of beautiful cocktails and mocktails.

Amazing experience

By MaryamA1212 |

I tried their lobster Mac & cheese and I loved it! The shrimp popcorn was also delicious. Everyone with me loved the food they ordered. The restaurant has great food representation; however, there are two negative points I can think about: - it was too dark that we ended up using our phones' lights to see our food -plus where does all the extra food goes? (Eg the extra cotton candy?? And on the chocolate treasure dessert, they are using graham crackers as sand......)

Expensive but a must do!

By Heidy Marie |

I have been wanting to visit Barton G’s for a few years and finally went. I’m glad we went and had the experience of over the top presentations and the food is really good, too! I didn’t have high expectations after reading some reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The host was organized and we were quick to be seated as we did have a reservation, which is highly recommended. I would definitely take any out of town guests here and also anyone who hasn’t been. The desserts were fantastic and enough to share. I highly recommend a evening dinner here at least once. Enjoy!

Alice in Wonderland

By JanetMcE |

I went for my birthday celebration The serving sizes are enormous and presentation is wonderful While the waitress was preoccupied the assistant servers, Nacho and his Senegalese sidekick were attentive.. Lobster mac and cheese was the best!Shrimp app amazing. The best thing I can say about the bread pudding is that it came with a cookbook. The dessert was dry and boring.

A must experience.

By Rubten |

Kitschy and cool. Kind of a once in your life experience. No sure if I'd return. The food was fine. The service was fine. You are "ooh-ing" and "ah-ing" and snapping pictures of other people's food. It is definitely big on atmosphere. Sit against the wall as this will save your neck from all the craning.

Great presentation, but the food....

By Deborah W |

Took our daughter there for her 11th birthday at the recommendation of friends. Started off with the bucket of bones - a mix of ribs, lamb ribs, chicken wings and sweet corn. It was served via a statue holding a scale - at each end of the scale was a bucket holding our food. REALLY heavy appetizer as so much meat and pretty greasy to boot. Also had the lobster pop tarts which were served in a pop up toaster. Again, a mouthful of grease and so couldn't taste the lobster. I can't even remember what we ate for entrees as we were so bloated by that point, we couldn't finish our food. I believe my daughter had a steak which was served on a platter with a giant fork. My husband had some sort of fish that was served with a beehive. We ordered a side of grits but ended up taking it home (I threw it out at home). The cotton candy was good and served on a mannequin head. There was so much left over, they gave us 2 large plastic bags for the cotton candy. So, go for the experience, but don't expect much from the food.

One of the best restaurants in America

By Lucas Raven |

Barton G is a gastronomical and visual haven that values experience above all. Their expertise in food and well-seasoned team are going to stimulate all your senses! Barton G is an experience that is a must when celebrating life, may it be birthdays, anniversaries or a treat to yourself and loved ones. Being based in Dubai, it's not easy to impress me with splendor, we breathe it everyday. Everything is a big glimmering show for us, especially restaurants. Barton G in Los Angeles goes above that, it has won my heart and senses. Their food win hearts and creates memories that will last a lifetime. Book in advance, they are always full. Do it, you can thank me later. Best, Lucas Raven

Experience lacking, compared to Miami restaurant

By travel and explore |

After my Miami experience I was eager to give L.A.'s restaurant a try. First let me warn you they pack you in like sardines. The 4 of us were shoved into a corner that should only seat two at the most. I sat with my body smashed up against a wall (we're all thin people). Next to us were 8 people at a four-top. We sat for 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging us and finally I spoke up. After that, service was faster. The food was ok, but that isn't the real reason people go to this restaurant. The experience was terrible due to the need to put people on top of each other. Because of the over crowding we had an unfortunate incident where a waiter dropped of the "props" on our table causing a glass to break into our food. After that we were just done. If you're in Miami, try the Barton G, it's a totaling different dining experience. And yes, in order to get through the front door you are required to commit to a full meal. Very tacky indeed.

Unnecessarily Expensive.

By Abdulaziz S |

Average Food, Average Service. You have to pay for the parking although you're paying so much inside the restaurant. I don't recommend it to anyone, unless you have alot of money and don't know what to do with it.

Unique dining experience

By David G |

Prices are high and the food is average. But the experience is unique, once in a lifetime. The "house salad" comes in a little house. The "Caesar salad" comes with a bust of Julius Caesar (although that's not the Caesar who invented that salad), the lobster pie comes inside a huge metal lobster, the chicken in a chicken cage with a panel showing a chicken video; other dishes have a huge metal whale, a 3 foot fork, a drink with dry ice, a Thai statuette, a carnival shooting gallery, etc.

Amazing

By Lani W |

Our dinner was unforgettable in the best way! This is the kind of place you want to go to for a special occasion. We were celebrating a birthday and graduation. We all ordered mocktails, an appetizer, an entree, and two shared desserts. Every piece of food was beautifully (and sometimes extravagantly) presented. And everything tasted divine. So, so good. This restaurant is a real treat and highly recommended by us. Some things to be aware of: First, I will admit, it is not a cheap place to eat. Every person must order an entree. Just be prepared for that. Also, it is a bit dark in the restaurant. There is a dress code you should be aware of. Basically, dress nice. Valet parking (which I highly suggest using) is available.

Dinner with couple or family

Different restaurant is bye, very rich and fun. If you come, ask Vlad to attend. Very original presentations. I highly recommend it if you come to Los Angeles

Fabulous!!! This was our 7th time taking guests there. VERY special place to go for birthdays or just because you want an unusual and delicious place to dine!!! Great service, great food, great great great!!!

An Extraordinary experience!

By Arlene S |

This was a visual extravaganza--absolutely over the top! Who would have believed that the food would be so excellent? My only disappointment is that I can't be there on New Year's Eve to celebrate with my friends!

So fun for special occasion

By travelwithsus |

This restaurant had enormous portions (high prices too) and fun food presentations. Definitely a place for a special occasion! We loved all the food we got.

A most unique and delicious experience!

By Laurie Y |

This was a birthday surprise for my daughter and son-in-law! Was looking for a new and unexpected experience as a special treat! Barton G exceeding my expectation, with great service, delicious food, and drink selections, as well as an awesome experience that included the most unique props! The experience is so different and so memorable! A 10+ from beginning to end.

Fun but overpriced

By A L |

$30 for a pizza? Bartons Garden. Wasn't horrible but compared to the other dishes the presentation wasn't vey fun and ultimately it was nearly 30 pounds for a pizza. My friends had the mouse trap mac and cheese which was nice and came in the mouse trap so was good fun. Declined having a cocktail due to them being over $20.00 but they looked good, as they should for that price. Overall average food, high prices. Fun presentation, wouldn't return now I have been once.

Loved it!

By tbirdow |

Kinda expensive but the presentation of the food and the environment make it worth the while. Loved it and will definitely go back given the chance

Presented like a party event

By Randi G |

Presentation of food is what it is all about. The presentations were rather ostentatious, but you are paying A LOT for it. Food is expensive, atmosphere nice, but the presentations were what it is all about. Lobster with macaroni and cheese HIGHLY overpriced......very little lobster and way too much mac and cheese with a HIGH price tag. They were extremely accommodating in making my son-in-law a special vegan dish. The chef even came out to talk to him about it. In addition we had a steak for 2 and a chicken dish for 2. We tasted each other's food, and the winner was the chicken dish.....the least expensive entree on the menu! It was succulent with a tasty seasoning and the veggies were perfect. Dessert was obscene and delicious. Chef was VERY thoughtful and sent out vegan sorbet for my sis, without charging for it.We had a fun time watching all the guests orders come out in presentations befitting royalty. Service was excellent. if you want to feel like you are at a very special event, with service fit for royalty, and can afford the high price tag, this is a must visit. Reservations a must. EVERY person at the table MUST order an entree!

Crazy, Fun Experience!

By Cloverleaf3218 |

Made a resie for 7:45 on a Sunday night on 4th of July weekend. No problem getting a reservation. We had to wait about 30 minutes but I saw others waiting much longer. We were not told there was a bar available for waiting, but FYI, there is. Wish we had known! We were crammed in the very small waiting area with some unruly children which is a huge pet peeve. There were lots of kids dining with their parents, so be forewarned. The dress code is casual, elegant which does NOT appear to be enforced. I saw two men in cut offs!!! I would not stress too much about the dress code. The crowd seemed like more of a Disneyland crowd than a fine dining establishment. I was a little put off by what I saw. There was a pretty rough crowd waiting outside when we arrived. It was also very, very hot in the restaurant. Even my husband and son were hot and they are NEVER hot. One last negative and then the positive. It is very crowded in the dining room so plan to be elbow to elbow with your fellow diners. Now for the good! Our food was flawless, we loved everything, I was actually very pleasantly surprised because when we entered the restaurant I thought I had made a terrible mistake. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Our sides and salads were delicious as well. Of course the presentation fabulous and so much fun!!! The whole experience, other than the negatives above, was very fun! The service was flawless! Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful. We were a little disappointed to find out that there are other specialty drinks available that were not on the menu. We had heard about the cotton candy martini but it was not on the list. The table next to us had one. I would say that was the only hiccup in our service. Would have ordered it had we not already been on our dessert when I noticed it. Two of us ordered steaks and the third ordered swordfish, all delish! We had the chop salad which was very creative and we loved it. Our dessert was the funnel cake, much better and way more fun than at the fair!! Presentation was amazing! Part of the fun is seeing what other people ordered and watching them react as they are served. One very important thing I forgot was the popcorn! Omg!!!!! Trust me.....order it! Don't mark Barton G off your list due to the negatives above! It's a true adventure, just know in advance what to expect! Lastly, it is very expensive, probably a little higher priced than most fine dining restaurants. We dine out often and always at fine dining establishments so it did not bother us at all, but I did see others who seemed to be shocked. Try it and enjoy the whimsical experience.

Fun theme restaurant

By 2cassandrat |

It's a nice restaurant with special presentation of food. I think it's about 9 course with different starters and appetizers. The presentations of the food are stunning and wow . Food is not that great but acceptable and it's a good experience.

Very expensive, funny and imaginative ... but for the price lacks the size required.

By Darin H |

First off let me say, this is a fun place to have dinner. You will smile, you will point and laugh, it will make you chuckle. The food is very good, the Veal Chop is nearly flawless. The presentation is what they are known for and for all the dishes it's hilarious. The flaw is in the size of the restaurant ... its too small. Tables are too close together, it sounds like your at a sporting event in regards to the noise, private conversations are not an option. Tables along a walk way expect those to be sitting in the aisle to feel like you're playing hockey with the number of times you're chair will be hit, bumped, pushed or otherwise maligned. It's an experience, but for the price $300 for 2 people ... you can do better in LA.

Great first time

By Olga Ś |

Fantastic ideas for every single meal to serve, was absolutely great, food was amazing and service was very nice and helpful. Highly recommend this place!

It's worth it

By brooke_nichole277 |

This place was very good! The food is good, you are paying for the food and The presentation of the food. It's definitely something worth doing!

Different dining experience

By bethanny1 |

In LA for holiday with my daughter and friends. We decided to go here based off of their 'Let them eat cake' dessert which is quite impressive. We were pleasantly surprised at how fun this place is. The menu is quite limited but what they do serve was well prepared and delicious. Also, the presentation of the food is unique and imaginative. Service was fantastic. I only rated this establishment 4 out of 5. It is rather dark, the tables are very close together and the music is a little too loud which makes conversation challenging. But everything else was great. I would definitely return if I ever come back to LA.

This is the place to get your food selfies on.

By losinginla |

This is the place to go to for a fun evening with friends or out of town guests. The food is served in very unique ways. For example, lobster pop tarts are served in a large pink toaster. Or get the fish which comes with a very large fishing hook, or the sample desert which has many samples served in small flower pots and the deserts look like dirt in the pots. The food, however, is really just ok. If it weren't for the ambiance and the clever way the food is served, I really don't think this restaurant would stay in business. It is expensive and there are restaurants in the area with much better cuisine. But if you want a few drinks, a little bit to eat (portions are small!), and you want to have a few laughs, and of course get your food selfies on, then this is the place for you!

Presentation a 10, food a 3 at best

By Amy H |

If you are looking for a place that is WAY over the top with the presentation then this is your place!!! However, if you care that your $100+ meal (per person) tastes good too then definitely NOT your place. Salmon was over cooked as well as the medium rare ribeye. Honestly, my ribeye from Yard House was half the price and was better than this steak.

Husbands bday

By AnoushRaffi |

We went Barton G for my husbands bday and my in-laws 50th Anniversary. Both nights were great! It’s food, fun and Art mixes all together. It’s a little tight space so I don’t recommend taking kids younger than 6-7 years old. Great for date night or special occasions. It’s inexpensive side. 100$ each person minimum. Their Drinks are the BEST. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Fun dining but average food

By Angie Sitanggang |

went here with my family, we would like to try something different for dinner and it did turn into a fun and quirky evening. the food was so-so, its not horrible but just average and quite average. the table seating is so narrow, i could barely walk between tables. excellent staff. would recommend to try at least once here. but honestly i won't coming the second time.

Fun with Friends

By Black3035 |

Great atmosphere and delicious food. Each menu item comes with a theme. The drinks were fun and strong, like I like it. The bucket of bones were tender and succulent. My ribeye was cooked to perfection and the desserts were festive. Will return.

Evening fron Hell!

By fredsplayland |

My friend and I drove to LA from San Diego. She wanted to surprise me with a visit to this restaurant. She had visited before with girlfriends and had an incredible time. This time however was no party. She made the reservations several weeks in advance and requested a certain table. She even called the day before, and the morning of to verify and confirm. When we arrived we were told that that table is only for groups of three and they could not accommodate us. We ended up sitting at a tiny corner table. It was dark which made photography close to impossible. We ordered an appetizer called bucket of Bones. The presentation was beautiful and the ribs lamb and chicken were fantastic. As a main course I ordered swordfish and my friend ordered this chicken dish call Birds Eye View. we saw them served to other tables and thought they looked very good. When the chicken came it was a tiny miserable dried-up peace of meat. less than half of what we saw serve two other tables. My swordfish look really good. But it also was about half the size of what I've seen on other tables. We also ordered Lobster Mac and Cheese. There were three tiny pieces of lobster sitting in the middle of mac and cheese. I brought this to the attention of a manager named Charlotte. She was totally non-responsive. she left us sitting there are approximately 20 minutes I spoke to another gentleman whose name I can't remember. He also said he was the manager. I could be mistaken, but I thought that when a patron receive Food in a restaurant and it was not prepared properly or not consumable the restaurant should take those dishes back and offer a replacement or refund. None of that was offered. It was a very awkward and helpless feeling. On one hand we had sent the food back to the kitchen and we're being charged for it. On the other hand if we refuse to pay I'm sure the police would have been called. It left us with absolutely no options The chicken was removed from the bill and we were given a cardboard box with macaroni and lobster. The same pitiful Lobster we had before. We were charged $62. the comments that come to mind are unprofessional, no customer service, rude, and very bad karma! I have absolutely nothing good to say about this place and would never return nor suggest that anyone else visit this establishment. It totally ruined our weekend and our visit to Los Angeles. Barton.G, you are the poster child to what a restaurant or professional establishment should not be. I have a list of adjectives that come to mind right now but all I'm going to say is shame on you. Worst experience ever!

A Unique, Fun Dining Experience

By HeardItBothWays |

My husband and I visited Barton G. The Restaurant Los Angeles during our time in LA, as we were exploring our way down the West Coast. We had seen photos of the outlandish dishes at this restaurant and were curious to check it out. The experience certainly lived up to our expectations! We started our dinner with a Sabrinatini and a BG Moonshine. The Sabrinatini came in a large smoking martini glass on a lit-up platter with a chocolate monkey hanging off of it. The BG Moonshine came in a large apparatus with a flag and dispensed from a spigot. Both drinks were delicious but still decently strong. We had the Truffled Steak Tartare as an appetizer, which was served in an elaborate metal dish held up by two figures. We both had steaks which came on giant platters. One was accompanied by a giant fork and the other by a large pig-shaped sign that said "Eat beef?" Both were cooked as ordered and delicious. We finished our meal with the Dolla Dolla Bills Ya'll dessert. It was perfect for us as chocolate lovers and was brought over with some sparkling fanfare. The service was excellent. The price was high but the experience was worth it as much as the delicious dinner. We will definitely return next time we're in town!

Most imaginative Restuarant

By Hip2012 |

Absolutely fabulous. The food was delicious. The presentation was like nothing I'd seen before. Whoever created the presentations was clearly highly imaginative with a great sense of humour. Well done! The atmosphere is fun and kids find it a highlight. Expensive. Mocktails where spun candy is lit and melts into a tasty drink. Kids shared sliders and rib eye. Adults chicken and fish. For dessert we shared spun sugar head as kids wanted it. Will remember this place for years to come.

AMAZING!!!

By Kfike |

From the food to the service this was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The presentation of the food is incredible. The service is out of this world. Will add this to my list of restaurants to visit whenever I am in town.

This is a perfect Restaurant

By Minoolifediary |

This is a perfect Restaurant for any kind of celebration. Every thing that you order doesn’t come in a simple plate, it comes in a statue/ figures and very creative. As far as the food goes, the fries was a savory chorus which was new to me and I loved it. As far as the dessert, we got the dollar bill and the combination of pop corn, chocolate dessert and ice cream was very unique and delicious. For the main course I got the Branzino but if I compare it with the Branzino that I had in Catch LA, this was not even close. It also smelled a little too. As far as the service goes the manager was very rude and that’s one of the main reasons I won’t give them a 5.

Great food and great fun

By jeff h |

The service, staff and food are outstanding, but wait there is more.... The presentation in unique and entertaining. This is a fabulous restaurant that should be on your bucket list. I don't want to spoil the show so let me just say, "a camera is a must have accessory."

Chaotic & whimsical, but not for everyone

By PurplieAlbie |

Ate here with family - including four children 11 and under. We went knowing it was mostly about the fun presentation. It is true - every single item is presented in an interesting and fun way, and the kids and adults enjoyed seeing the various platings come out of the kitchen - and from the bar. The presentation lived up to - and exceeded - expectations. The staff were surprisingly cheerful and nice. (I say surprisingly because it seemed like hard work and chaos!) Those are the pluses. On the other side, the restaurant was so noisy, conversation was impossible, in some cases even with the person sitting next to you (in your own party!). We were crammed in like sardines, which wasn’t pleasant - I could actually hear more of the loud conversation at the table behind us than my own children sitting across from me. The wait staff didn’t even have sufficient room to move around the table, so in some cases, were passing giant plates across some of our party and handing them to someone across the table, which was a bit crazy. One of our appetizers was completely forgotten about - when asked, the waitress said it was ready, they just forgot to serve it. And worst of all - the food was relatively tasteless. My swordfish was bland and tasteless. My brother’s pork had to be sent back to be cooked more. My husband’s veal and fish was bland and tasteless. My kids were so overwhelmed, we left directly after the main dish, although the rest of our group stayed and said the ice cream with the funnel cake dessert was the best part. Would recommend for a novelty evening if you’re looking for a meal in a nightclub style environment. Would not recommend for a nice family dinner. See all reasons above.

My Barton g experience

By Laurie V |

I saw this restaurant on the food network channel and new I had to go there ! The waiter was very friendly and accommodating. The food was ok the experience was great. I really went for the grandness of everything, it is truly a culinary experience!!! One you should do at least once. The restaurant is loud food props are coming from everywhere, people are on phones taking lots of pictures and videos. Everyone is having a food experience like no other !!! Only negative is pricing cotton candy $29.00 is a little outrageous, but so was the prop so in the end I felt it was worth it :)

Very exciting place !!!

The way here serve the dinner is unforgettable!!!! Beautiful place for fun and for good food!!!! Thanks

Birthday at Baton G

By snscc |

We traveled by Metro link from Covina to Union Station and then Uber to Barton G on the west side. Seated immediately per our reservation. Drinks were good. Lemon Drop ( Diamonds are Forever ) smoked with dry ice. Kind of fun. Caesar salad was very good with just a hint of anchovies. Lobster Mac and cheese, Jambalaya, surf and turf were world class tasty. I’m not going to spoil it for those who haven’t been there but the entrees where served in plates and in a way you have never seen before. Great fun. Lots of laughs and memorable food. Oh yes, dessert. We had Dolla ,Dolla Bill Y’all. Best ice cream and gold leaf covered cake I’ve ever tasted. The whole experience was a ten.

Great for SnapChat lovers (not my cup of tea)

By Mohammed Alkhaja |

I have visited this restaurant this month for the first time. The food overall is not bad, but nothing to really miss. We tried both: the "Laughing Bird Popcorn" Shrimp" and the "Voodoo Shrimp Rolls, in addition to the "Strike Out Sliders". The last was the best; the first 2: just great for pics more than anything else. For the main course: the Volcano Lamb Shank was nice but not great; it even lacks some salt. The Mouse Trap Mac and Cheese (from the sides) was great though, a real treat for cheese lovers. The best thing (and I guess the main reason many visit this joint) is the themes. All of the Dod come in great presentation which are all truly great for pics (hence the title)... Great to visit at least once.

So good

By Monica D |

Went for my friends 30th birthday. The food was amazing. It was a bit pricey but well worth it. The best lobster Mac I've ever had and that voodoo shrimp was delicious too. The waiters were so friendly and accommodating. Our reservation was late so we each ordered an appetizer to share since we ate beforehand. I loved the presentation that came with the food. They give u enough time for u take pix and then a few minutes later they come to take the props (I guess to recycle for another order). The Marie Antoinette head was so cute. They put sparklers on it to sing happy bday to my friend. Will definitely go back when in town. The Miami location has NOTHING on this one

Unique & Fun Eats

By erikadejesus25 |

This place was quite an adventure. The plates are served in interesting way (i.e., mousetraps, oversized 4 foot forks, popcorn machine). That night we ordered the Diamond Martini - it was very tasty. It had a nice soft citrus flavor and the attraction was the LED platter and the smoke bellowing from the martini glass. We shared the Thai Me Up - Surf & Turf. The fish was very soft, flaky and tasty. The chicken has Thai spices a tad bit spicy for my liking but the flavor was good overall. The presentation of their dishes are the main attraction. It is a nice place to impress a person on a first date. The place is intimate and the lighting sets the mood off very well.

Bday

By MONICA M |

I've been here a couple of times. For bday celebrations. Everything is so fun to look at and the desserts are over the top Which makes the celebration more special. Unfortunately, Last time I was there I had a reservation at 7pm. I waited 45 to 55 min. To be seated. An additional hour for our meals to come out. I was a bit disappointed.

Try it!! Wonderful experience!

By Keisha G |

On our last day on vacation in a city we like to “go all out” on our last meal. A friend suggested we try Barton G’s and some other restaurant. After reading the reviews from both we went with Barton G’s. Yes, it’s expensive, but forget about it and just try it!! We had a fantastic time. We started with the sliders, 2 mini burgers for $30, very questionable, but these were the best mini burgers I’ve had by far!! We tried the salmon and the braised short ribs for our mains. Salmon was amazing!!! I wouldn’t try the braised shirts ribs again, but the presentation was so cute!! And finally we tried dessert. We had been watching all the dishes come out during our dinner service to see what we would order. We decided to try something that we had not seen come out, the Strawberry Fields. This dish made our night!!! When it came out it was so beautiful I didn’t know what was edible and what was not!! Not only did it look incredible it tasted amazing as well!! The wait staff service was impeccable. They had us looking forward to every dish, including the drinks! Go for the experience, go for fun, go to enjoy something different than your regular dinner service.

So much fun !

By Eboney C |

Me and my boyfriend travelled from Vancouver BC to have my birthday dinner here, and it was nothing short of amazing, the presentations for everything are so elaborate and over-the-top. It makes for such a fun experience, my boyfriend ordered an ox tail lasagna, and it tasted so good, I got a seafood risotto, and it was so incredible, I would highly recommend this place for a fun occasion

A "Big" Deal

By Tamara M |

Where should I start when it comes to this restaurant? I love the fact that they make a big deal out of everything you order. I ordered lobster pop tarts (which were AMAZING) and they came in an actual toaster!!! If I could I'd eat there every time I'm in LA 😉

BARTON G

By RockinRobin8 |

This is a must for out of town guests and special occasions! The presentations are out of this world, you won't believe your eyes. The food and service are excellent. We have dined here about 12 times, never a complaint, only raves!

Great Food, Fun and Service

By colonelscott |

This is the sort of place you go to once every 5 to 6 months with guests visiting. The good is fresh and top of the line and it's packed and worth it and while it's pricey you won't be disappointed. It's hard to describe the presentation but that's part of the show. The chicken is exceptional along with the pickled vegetables and others they bring it with. It's a fish for two which we ordered. Probably the best mac and cheese with truffles we ever had and the funnel cakes were fun! Again you have to go for the show. The cocktails are great and the service exceptional It's a showboat restaurant and worth it.

A Dinner Spectacle - with good food, that would entertain anyone

By Evalu8 |

We dined as a party of 10 on the 28th December as a special occasion for the family. We had heard about it through friends and thought we’d give it try. Although we had made a reservation for 6.15pm our table wasn’t ready and we had to wait 15 minutes. We were eventually seated behind a curtain near the entrance which was a bit chilly. We ordered a variety of starters including scallops, popcorn shrimp, sliders and peas and carrots (sound weird but was lovely). The popcorn shrimp came in a popcorn machine and was quickly devoured! All was served with theatrical flare and was a talking point from the start. Each starter was between $22-25. For the mains, we had Surf & Turf, Mac and Cheese, Volcano Lamb Shank, Fillet Mignon and Ribeye. Apart from the Lamb Shank at $34 the rest were around $65 each. The kids also had mock tails which were quite spectacular although a bit pricey, with adult cocktails at a similar $22-24. The presentation was amazing, with the shrimp from the surf and turf served an a pelicans mouth, with the beef and lamb having a wooden slab and animal caricature. There were no complaints about the flavour of portion size. For us the highlight was the desserts. We ordered the ‘Dolla Dolla Bill Y’all’ dessert and Sabrina Sundae, these were spectacular and enormous - certainly enough for 10 of us (see pics). Overall it was a fun and memorable experience, although at a total cost of $1200 for the 10 of us is certainly not an every day event, but as a one off at Christmas, everyone loved it. Parking can be done by valet ($10) or on the street outside, but we had no issues either getting there or parking.

An Exciting Experience

By Angel S |

This place is very unique. Everything comes out in a big presentation even the specialty drinks. It is definitely a place that needs to be visited at least once. It is pricey but worth the money.

Worth it!

By Tthetourist |

I enjoyed this place from start to finish, food is mediocre but the whole experience is awesome. This restaurant is all about presentation. Everything you order will be brought out in a special way. Its a but expensive, but worth it and worth a visit at least once. The place is small so seating was a bit uncomfortable, you will be bumped and seated closely , that was a big negative for me. Loved the bill envelope, it said THE DAMAGE on the front.

Most interesting food presentation ever!

By 865bernardk |

If you are looking for a fantastic culinary experience, there are better places in LA, however, the food presentation is worth the trip. Very ingeniously decorated, each item on the menu is a piece of work. I have often seen people taking pictures of their own place, but when have you seen nearby tables taking pictures of your dishes??? this happens every day at this entertaining food outlet. fantastic idea!

Very nice restaurant

By Lillayee |

Made reservations for 7:30, got there 6:45 and was seated right away which I really liked. The waiters were very nice. I had the mouse trap mac and cheese which was very good !

Overhyped,Overrated, Underwhelmed!

By Ellen F |

We were on time with a reservation but the unsmiling young man behind the desk told the three of us we could not be seated until one of the other people in our party arrived. We waited a good fifteen minutes in cramped quarters with about twenty children & their parents. I thought perhaps we had mistaken this restaurant for camp night out, so If you are planning on arriving at 6.45 & you've left your children at home for a little peace & quiet this is definitely not the restaurant for you & be prepared to wait! Absolutely ridiculous! If you think you are coming to a romantic spot, Forget about it! It is noisy & filled with children under the age of ten. We sat across from a newborn infant. Not at all what we expected. As to the food it was average with deserts that start between $28 & go up to practically $40. We ordered the sundae at $38 which was just scoops of ice-cream with a little chocolate sauce & some whipped cream. No nuts, fruit or anything wonderful you might expect from this overpriced desert. I could have done better at any ice cream store for a heck of a lot less & more creativity. The service was fair & nobody serves you. They just put it on the table with some silly prop such as the popcorn shrimp we ordered came in a popcorn machine. The shrimps were tasty but tiny & the popcorn was nothing to write home about. The caesar salad was drenched in dressing served with a cold piece of toast with nothing on it. The ribs were tough & the chips which looked good were not hot. We did enjoy the macaroni & cheese. The presentation for the drinks was good & they let us taste a touch of wine before it was served. The cotton candy is tremendous & probably can serve a large table. I would say the nicest thing about the evening was when a cute girl told us we looked awesome as we exited this overpriced, prop filled restaurant. We will not be back anytime soon!

Average food but wonderfully fun presentation - Great fun for a group

The food is OK at best, not terrible, but not particularly good. (The bread was fairly terrible, however, so skip it. Though it comes in charming little donut rounds and interesting flavors.) But you don't come here for the food, you come here for the presentation, and it is by far the most creative and whimsical presentation I have ever seen at a restaurant. Adults and kids alike will get a kick out of it. It's worth a visit, especially if you have a group of friends to share the fun with. Friendly staff and nice ambience.
