A blend of everything from Mediterranean to Spanish to ...you name it!

By Ward L |

Spotted this very attractive restaraunt on a drive through the neighborhood and decided to check it out. Glad we did! First, it is warm and welcoming and the staff is wonderful. But the food is truly the best attraction here. Started with the house bread with is a blend of American, Spanish and Mediterranean tastes. It was AWESOME! ORdering from the tapas menu, I enjoyed familiar dishes with new and exciting twists. Stuffed grape leaves served with taste teases that really were delightful, a house salad the was a blend of snap-fresh greens, a wide variety of cherry tomatoes, and other garden-harvested vegetables that came together under a walnut dressing for a fantastic and refreshing dish. But the most tantalizing tapas was a stuffed, fried pepper. Amazingly delicious, not oily or greasy as many fried foods can be and presented with a medley of three sauces for a culinary experience the was new and welcome. My companion had a grilled salmon presented on a bed of what can only be described as the most delicious grits either of us has ever enjoyed. Add some asparagaus for a counter-, yet complimentary taste and it was a wonderful main course. If you are in the greater Atlanta area, this is a must. Amazing food, great staff and prices that are well beyond reasonable.

Disappointed

Stefani ( hopefully spelt right) saved my evening Food mediocre at best No seasoning on anything, maybe afraid of salt? Sad to see a great place with great location have lackluster chefs No love in the food

Great outdoor dining, service and food exceptional

By ladolcevitaAtlanta |

A great restaurant in a converted Buckhead "bungaloo" that has a great off-the-street location. The patio deck is a little above street level and umbrellas offer some shading. A great place to spend a lazy afternoon. Weather permitting, sit outside on the deck if you can. For our appetizer we split the special, a cold plus hot mezze combo with hummus, tabboulleh, chicken kebobs, falafel, lamb burger and rice. Definitely enough for three women to get our appetites going. My entree was the grouper fish tacos with a slaw side salad. Fresh, light and very tasty. Our server was helpful with the menu and service was excellent. Although there are several Lebanese entrees, the menu is varied and truly offers something for everyone. Definitely recommend.

Amazing food

This restaurant is delicious. The service was wonderful and the owner is extremely nice and hospitable. Not to be missed. Make a reservation. It was packed on Friday night.

Wonderful place in Buckhead - hidden gem!

By fishnmb |

You certainly won't be driving through Buckhead and stumble on this place, only a good friend will suggest it. Tucked away in an area that is quiet and a converted house, this restaurant has great outdoor dining and a wine list to enjoy. Everything on the menu was delicious and so many great choices, it made it hard to decide. The apps were great, the fish was awesome and a finish with some espresso and cap to go along with tiramisu. It is Mediterranean flair and priced fair for the quality. Recommended!

Saturday brunch

By connie t |

We spent 4 days in Atlanta filled with 7 delis hours restaurants and shopping. This chilly spring day choose to sit on their nice big deck with pretty umbrellas. We ordered crab cakes eggs benedict that was outstanding, the omelet, lemon pancakes & French toast even though the French toast is a Sunday only dish they were so kind and able to accommodate us. Pancakes nice sized stack needed a side of butter and more syrup but they were short handed ( only 1 waiter plus owner ) and was late getting it to us and butter was frozen. That was ok because everything else was on point. Going to use the restroom was pleasantly surprised with the beautiful restaurant filled with amazing art. Our only thoughts were what was going on across the street I think the name was Anise? It was packed ! I will put Basil's on my list for dinner the next time we come to Atlanta.

An Atlanta standby getting tired

By isabelarcher |

First the positive: generous cocktails, well served. The food though is not what it was years ago. Food tasted as if it was warmed up on a hot plate. Not fresh though plenty of it.

Very Good Food, and 1/2 off on wine a special bonus

By Viknd |

food was very good, caesar salad and rare tuna as main course. Wine special on Monday night (1/2 off) was a nice surprise. charming setting.

Great Sunday Brunch

By debsimmons |

We were looking for a Sunday brunch restaurant to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. We chose Basil's because we love Mediterranean food. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside on the porch. I started with a Virgin Mary which had just the right amount of spice. I chose eggs sardou, an old favorite, which was delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise was nice. My husband had the Basil's Benedict which contained poached eggs, crab, artichokes, spinach, bacon and hollandaise which was a great combination. Overall we had a great meal in a beautiful setting. Service was also good. We would definitely return.

Delicious Salad

By wrensaver |

I sampled Basil's while at a client's site. They ordered out and picked up. I had the Caprese salad as my meal. The mozarella was fresh and the tomatoes were excellent. T he only drawback is that the portion was very small for lunch!

What a gem of a place!

By NCDee53 |

We picked Basil's from a list provided by the sponsors of our trip to Atlanta, and we were very happy with our choice. The restaurant is tucked away on side street and has an extensive outdoor seating area in addition to the indoor bar and restaurant. Even in January, we were able to be seated on the patio thanks to ceiling mounted heaters in a clear plastic tent. There was a trio playing that evening and the music was pleasant but not obtrusive. Service was friendly and fast. And the food! I had the rack of lamb special and the lamb was cooked to a perfect medium rare as I ordered it and practically melted in my mouth. My companion ordered the mixed grill and said everything on the plate was delicious. It was a relaxed, comfortable and friendly atmosphere and we could have sat there all night listening to the music and enjoying the ambiance. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Atlanta and if I lived there, I could see myself becoming a "regular."

Lovely atmosphere with great food

By Cathyd329 |

Loved the atmosphere, great for a special date, the decor is very warm, you feel like you are having dinner at the house of a good friend! Food and service were wonderful. I had the shrimp paella very well seasoned. The staff suggested wonderful cocktails and appetizers. Just make sure you know how to get there, our mapquest sent us around the world, and parking can be a little crowded. This is a very interesting neighborhood in Buckhead... I'll go back!

Consistent kitchen with great patio

By FreqTravBizPleas |

The is the definition of a 'neighborhood gem'. Nothing cutting edge or blazing new trails here but rather a dependable dining location with casual elegance. Dishes are well-executed and always tasty (try the toasted ravioli and crab fritters for apps, if you like to indulge, and the lamp chop or Greek shrimp for a wonderful blend of textures and spices). Service is attentive and friendly, with no pretensions. Very deep wine list, too, from all regions and with a good variance in price points. Always good to go and enjoy what Buckhead used to feel like -- without feeling dated.

Good experience

By suwdawg |

The experience here was good. Service is very good. The food is good had the salmon. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere here as well. Its still good but a condo complex is now on one side of the establishment.

Consistently Good Food with a Mediteranian Twist

By Mmitchel |

I dined here recently just after they re-opened, celebrating a friends birthday. We were greeted by an new manager who was very nice and welcoming. I had actually stopped coming to Basil because the owner and often the staff are so unfriendly. She assured us that things had changed. Shortly afterwards I met the owner face to face and spoke, but as usual he looked the other way to avoid speaking. The food is always good and I love dining on the deck under the large oak trees. The restaurant is in a quint bungalow on the edge of the Garden Hills neighborhood. We had for a starter the Mediterranean Mezza a trio of spreads that were great. I had the Loupe De Mar - fish special - which was cooked beautifully prepared and finished with a chocolate torte that was an amazing mixture of dark and light chocolate. I hope this restaurant will learn to make their customers feel a bit more appreciated and welcome to come in and spend their money.

We will not return

By BCAtlanta |

We have been to Basil's many times over the years, but our visit last evening will be our last. The food quality has deteriorated to where even the nice atmosphere on the patio does not make up for it. The waitress forgot to tell us about the specials, maybe they would have been better, but the two dishes we ordered off the menu were terrible. The chicken dish was extremely salty, tough and lacked any other flavors. The paella was more like a bouillabaisse and was mediocre at best.

Wonderful Dinner!!!!

By ATL777_7 |

It was another another fabulous night! On deck and wonderful food! Food continues to improve, every time!

Dinner with Friends

By UGA1 |

Wonderful people, food and atmosphere in the heart of Buckhead. The outside deck is one of the best in the area.

OK food, not great service, dirty dishes

By Cathryne W |

Spent a beautiful Sunday morning here for brunch with friends and had high hopes based on word of mouth. We started badly when my coffee arrived with lipstick on the cup. It took about 15 minutes to get it replaced. I ate light - bagels with smoked salmon - and it was fine but what can you do to that? A friend tried the ricotta pancakes but they were so dry she couldn't eat them. It took ages to get our checks - in spite of the server being told that we were on our way to the airport. I'll try somewhere else next time.

Always consistently good

By Jeannice H |

Great and fresh food, lovely patio and friendly staff. I highly recommend Basil's for a relaxing evening that comfortable and pleasant with upscale food.

Brunch at Basil's

By merrytime |

My husband and I had brunch on a Sunday. We had the Egg's Benedict with crab meat. It was very good. We also had the spinach omelet. The grits were good. Choices were limited because it was a brunch menu. Only eggs, and there were some salads. They were going to close at 2:00 and reopen for dinner later. All the food was very tasty. Our server was wonderful

Wonderful gem in Buckhead

By Gatoralicia |

We dined at Basil's as recommended by a local friend. We sat outside on their deck on a beautiful night. The server was great. Very knowledgable about food and wine. We never felt rushed. There was very much an ease to Basil's. You felt encouraged to relax and enjoy. We had the spring rolls and Spanikopita for apps. I had he tuna special on vegetable rissitto. So good I wanted to lick the plate. My sister had the salmon, she said it was outstanding. My niece had the Greek shrimp, it was Delish as well. This was a lovely evening with a wonderful price point.

Complete dissapointment

By F C |

Went there on Christmas day with my family. It was full which is fine. However with few waiters taking too long to get served. The menu offered was very expensive in comparision to other Atlanta restaurants I went to. The food was in small portions (similar to French style). Definitely not expected in US restaurants where the portions tend to be too big. The food taste was not the best. Everyone left the place disappointed. Do not recommend it. Since I have family in Atlanta I go there 2 or 3 times a year. This restaurant will not be part of my next visit. Total dissapointment.

Very good!

By Lauren M |

We had dinner here tonight. We sat outside on the patio and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere. We got here early so it wasn't too crowded, although I think it does get busy later in the night. We had tapas and every single thing we had was good. There were stuffed grape leaves and crab and shrimp spring rolls, caprese salad and a few other things. The coffee was excellent. Our server was friendly and the service was perfect. We will definitely be coming here again.

Amazing Dinner Tonight!

By BugattiBoi88 |

Excellent! I have to start off by saying that this place definitely was well worth the visit. I stumbled across Basil's as I was trying to find a cute little place in Buckhead to have dinner! Well low and behold I clicked on Basils and knew immediately that I had to reserve a spot to check it out! Upon arrival I noticed that there was complimentary valet! Yes! First point! Once I walked in I was pleasantly pleased to see how the layout they have set up on the patio. Since I booked my reservation on opentable.com I was awarded my 1,000 dining points! #winning. Service was beyond great! I have to shout out Matt for being so courteous and helpful with creating such a memorable first dining experience here! We ordered some margaritas and even though they were out of my favorite patron they had an amazing substitute! No appetizers were ordered however they brought out some great pita bread and another little dish that I posted. The entrees we choose were the stuffed chicken breast and the lamb burger! DELICIOUS! Both entrees were cooked to perfection and we had no need for a to-go box! I couldn't even save none for later if I tried! All in all I would say I will most definitely be returning on my next trip to Atlanta! Kudos to Basil's !

Nice, good, but not the best.

By KenK |

Very nice location in Buckhead in what actually is a residential neighborhood. Small menu but we were there for lunch. Hadn't had a Shwarma since we lived in Dubai, theirs was not bad! I miss Tzatziki sauce, they had something else that was rather bland.

Wonderful

By Jim M |

We are so glad we eat here. Excellent location in Buckhead. Great salads and small plates. Excellent drinks and a wonderful patio under the trees. Great service.

Great Food & Great Atmosphere

By ZDev |

The outdoor deck is incredible. A great place to go and relax or to have some fun with friends. The owner is very lively and loves to make new friends. You really feel welcomed and appreciated. The food is absolutely amazing. We have never had anything we didn't enjoy. You have to check this place out!

Above Average

By GSSATLANTA |

The mediterranean food / tapas at Basil's are well above average with an easy location and adequate parking. Service was friendly but food delivery was slower than average. For example, it took more than 20 minutes to receive a simple order of baba ganoush. The place wasn't that busy so I've no idea why this was the case. Notable: the tuna special was excellent.

Great dining experience in Buckhead

By Lauri L |

We had a lovely dinner at Basil’s. We had our reservation at another restaurant canceled due to weather, and Basil’s was able to accommodate us on short notice. The food and service were impeccable, and we are so happy that we ended up eating there!

Mediterranean Food !

By Diane K |

Enjoyed lovely fresh flatbreads, mussels, and a Middle East plate with hummus, baba ganoosh, Dolma, Tabuoli, etc. to start. Then I had a Kibbeh plater. Reminded me of the foods I ate when I grew up. Had music playing by an entertainer and we really enjoyed a nice bottle of Frank Family Chardonnay with our meal. Sat out on open deck area and enjoyed the fresh air. Off on a small street so perfect and not too noisy on road way.

Outdoor tapas

By juliebfromindy |

We met a nephew here and had an enjoyable time. The to have valet parking and they work for tips. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We enjoyed several different topas items. For 4 of us bill was over $75 so it is not cheap. By the way none of us are drinkers so that total is without alcohol. We enjoyed the mushroom pizza, baked Cheese and crab balls. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is street parking but be mindful of no parking zones.

Peace from Madness

By Juliette D |

Secret alcove of calm and charm in the middle of Buckhead. Sweet outside patio; excellent brunch location. You can speak to your family and friends without yelling while enjoying courteous and prompt customer service. The Grouper was excellent; everyone seemed to enjoy the frittatas and Italian sausage. Reasonably priced.

Fabulous Food and Friendly Atmosphere

By emazon2000 |

Loved, loved this place. The food is Mediterranean inspired with a nice wine list. We shared mussels, greek salad, flatbread with toppings, a mediterranean sampler with humus, babaganosh and tabouli. We had an excellent bottle of wine. The owner came over to meet us and brought us a steak tartar on the house. We had an excellent waitress with red hair and a great smile.

Good food, poor service

By AwesomeladyUS |

Best when dining outside but deck, tables uneven. Live music can get loud in some indoor areas which lack ambiance. Mediterrean tappas are good as are the scallops. Go across the street to Anis for the better value of food and atmosphere.

Relaxed and Delicious

By John E |

Basil's is located on a quiet side street in Buckhead and has a laid back feel to it. The restaurant has an outside deck on the front, part covered and part uncovered. The inside can get loud and lacks the ambiance of the deck. We ate on the deck and, as it has been a cool spring, they put the overhead gas heater on for our table. Our waiter was very attentive. We did not lack for service. They were willing to provide something simple (plain salmon) for one of our guests, who did not want to venture forth with the steelhead salmon, which was very good. The best entree at our table was the Greek shrimp, served over a moist bed of rice with olives and pistacios. They have a nice selection of wine with an Italian pinot grigio going for $34. Parking is available in the rear if the street parking is full.

Very pleasant exprience

By Shoshanna60898 |

Lovely, relaxing experience eating on Basil's covered patio. Very generous portions, delicious lamb burger and fries ordered by three of us. Fourth person was very pleased with his club sandwich. Very reasonable prices.

Reception Dinner

By ala5592 |

Our family needed a venue for an after church wedding reception dinner. The owner was welcoming and so accommodating to our needs. He even opened before the usual time. 42 family and friends raved about the food and service. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The desserts are to die for!! We didn't feel rushed even though by the time we left, the outdoor deck was full of other diners. It was truly one of the highlights of the wedding weekend. I would not hesitate to recommend Basil's to anyone looking for delicious food, attentive hosts, and a relaxing, fun dining experience.

A celebratory luncheon.

By shumphrey_atl |

First time coming and the decor and food selections were ample. Enjoyed my baked Grouper and Ravioli shells. A big thumbs up.

Delightful Lunch

By unctompr |

My friends took me to one of their favorite restaurants where they dine frequently as well as have delivered via DoorDash. I was not disappointed! One had the Mediterranean Sampler, one a Chicken Sandwich and I had a Blackened Salmon Salad. Everyone enjoyed their entrees! My only disappointment was the slow service since the restaurant was practically empty.

Good for Casual Night Out

By DiscerningWoman |

You'll be pleased you went. Nice, but bit rushed service. Good place for family but business not so much.

Great Easter brunch

By Glenn B |

Easter brunch was a buffet at Basil´s. Normal Sunday brunch is off a menu. Our party found the food to be very good. Servicewas very good also. The restaurant opened up into a patio so it also has great seating. You would do well to try Basil's.

Just amazing food, servers, atmosphere

By Exploration323711 |

I was just there tonight for a special company dinner and it was my first time at this restaurant. I will definitely make a point to come back soon. I had the most delicious barbecue salmon and my friend let me try some of her scallops which were also incredible. They were so friendly and accommodating for our large group!

Perfect date night and outside deck

By LeVoyageur4 |

Basil is in an old house on a neighborhood street with large trees. Wonderful spot in such a big city. Get a seat on the front deck. Large trees overhung it and they are lit up for a great romantic mood. It was a little cool when I was there but heaters make it all ok. The food was great as well. I had the groper and it was cooked to perfection. Wine choice is average but they pick some standards and some interesting new verity to try if you are adventurous like me. Our waitress was from Russia and she was very interesting to talk to abut her home country. I have been on this street several times for dinner and did not know you could park out back of this rest. Pull up the driveway like it is your house and you will see how to park in back.

Always fabulous!

By PrinceKP |

Basil's has provided the best patio dining in Buckhead for years while consistently serving up delicious Mediteranean meals! Whether lunch or dinner, I always ask for the trout, sautéed in butter, lemon and capers (lunch menu). I developed a Greek salad habit here 13 years ago while pregnant and have returned for a fix when possible ever since! Let the server guide you through the menu and take the suggestion of the day. Sunday brunch is on my agenda for this weekend and has me inspired to review my favorite Buckhead haunt.

Get Away from the crowd! This is where the locals go.

By Robbie A |

My wife and I stumbled across this restaurant on Grand View off Phar Rd. In Buckhead. Coming out of a gas station we noticed their sign. We loved the cozy place. Mediterranean food is excellent. I had a steak while my wife had a snapper. A live band was playing and the atmosphere was so authentic! We will go back. Service was a little slow but we honestly didn't care as we were relaxed.

Quaint, cozy old home sets the stage for interesting Mediterranean food. Food quality is excellent.

By Georgia L |

You enter this restaurant through what was the screen door to an enclosed wooden patio area. The small but inviting bar hosts a few happy, relaxed locals. The service started off slow - no one greeted me - even though I made eye contact with the bartender. When I contacted a waiter he said, "Sit anywhere." my waiter was friendly and made great recommendations. I enjoyed the mini flat bread pizza that was placed on the table, and ordered the Spinatopita, spinach and feta in a puff pastry served with a basil tomato sauce. My main course was Bacin wrapped diver scallops seared and served on jalapeño risotto. Excellent!!! The scallops were tender and tasty!

Yummy paella

By TABETHA D |

This was a Tuesday dinner so they weren’t super busy! A really nice gentleman welcomed us and took care of us the whole time. He knew the menu and specials so well, also kind enough to ask about allergies among us. My meal was spectacular, the paella was some of the best I’ve had. The wine list was extensive. I would certainly come back here!

Evening Dinner on the patio.

By Martha G |

The guitarist on the patio was playing so beautiful, our table on the patio was perfect, as was our server for the evening. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, their wine selection is good and pair well with the food. The desserts are so good. I had a version of their Carmel Flan, was very creamy, and melted in your mouth. The entire party was very pleased with their choice of main dishes, and also of the desserts. Parking is limited, but street parking is best choice. They do only have one wheelchair parking space, would recommend reservations, and letting them know if one of your party is in a wheelchair. They were very accommodating with us.. .

An utterly forgettable dinner experience

By Peter M |

Worst dinner ever! The Lambburger (supposedly the best in town) was virtually inedible (more mutton than lamb) and the fries had been cooked in old, rancid oil. My wife ordered the trout which very clearly had been frozen -- and most likely microwaved; dinner came far too quickly to allow for any other conclusion. Will never return to this place.

Unbelievable

By Susan M |

This is the second time that we held a family event at this restaurant. The first time was to celebrate my Fathers 89th Birthday. The most recent time was two years later my Father's Celebration of Life Event that he wanted for people to remember him by drinking the wine that was left in his wine cellar. Joe was amazing in arranging every detail including the food, music and staff. Everyone was so accomodating and generous with their time and kindness. The food was fantastic and loved the lamb burgers sliders, They allowed us to arrive earlier to set up and stay longer than we had anticipated. Joe is the amazing and we appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness. Susan and Scott

Wonderful Food & Service!!!

By Mary-Jo D |

We love Basil's so much!! We have visited for both dinner & brunch & both were excellent! The outdoor patio in season is wonderful. The service & food are great!

Great Local Restaurant

By Mtnbrookie |

As I travel a lot for business, I enjoy finding local non-chain restaurants. I hope to find good food, a fun and attentive wait staff, with a nice vibe. I found that and more at Basil's. Atlanta is full of great restaurant options. I rarely eat in the Buckhead area though as most of the restaurants are either chains, or have the feel of a chain restaurant. Basil's is in a converted home on a small back street. I was taken for business by two local residents. The experience exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to returning. I will again entrust with the wait staff her ordering for me!

Wonderful Dinner

By LAK |

We enjoyed a really wonderful dinner at Basil's. The food is incredibly flavorful, well prepared and they have the freshest ingredients. The setting is so charming and we had a wonderful dinner. Can't wait to go back!

Great food and service

By SusanZinger |

My husband and I love Basil's! It is one of our favorite "go to" restaurants and we are there at least once a month. The food and service are unique and we know that it will be good every time. We love the new deck!

Supposed Mediterranean Meal

By JimmyMac48 |

We were looking forward to a Mediterranean style meal with family.. upon arrival we were greeted nicely by the waitress, drinks were a little slow getting to us. The evening was cold and the male staff had to reminded repeatedly to keep the entrance door closed, in fact members of our party closed the door multiply times. The meals were very disappointing, in one instance the wrong dish was delivered and the replacement came when most of the party had finished theirs. My dish had mashed potatoes.. not sure if they came from a packet or just puréed.. terrible, French fries were not nice , paella was too wet & soupy.

Awesome food and great atmosphere

By alysiaAtlanta |

My husband and I went to Basil's for my birthday. Had never been and were looking for some good Mediterranean food. What a delight. The cold plate appetizer was as good as anything we have ever had overseas. Most American restaurants overdo garlic and food loses its natural flavor. Basil's let the true taste of the food (chick peas, eggplant or whatever) shine through. We shared a hot plate appetizer and Mediterranean Chicken as our entrees. Delicious. The meat was tender and moist, not dried out. The rice was fragrant and fluffy. Prices were very very reasonable! They have a very extensive wine list. The restaurant is in a converted home, very cozy and romantic. The other diners appeared to be locals and/or long-time patrons. This is a hidden little gem and we will definitely go back.

Good Middle Eastern Food

By hamiltonbergen |

Cozy but unelegant location in a converted single family home on a side street in otherwise very commercial Buckhead. Pretty good middle eastern/mediterranian food. Service inconsistent and varies with server. Relaxed casual dining only.

Awesome. Way way better than Anis Bistro, which is across the street!

By Duncan_D_Trash |

Basil's food is awesome. Way better, (and cheaper), than Anis Café & Bistro, which is right across the street. I have had all most everything on Basil’s diverse menu and loved it all. I recommend Basil’s for lunch, dinner, or Sunday brunch. The atmosphere is amazing. It truly feels like a friendly neighborhood restaurant. Basil’s doesn’t cram too menu people into a small room and rush people in and out the door as they do at Anis. Also the entrees are a good $5 - $10, on average, cheaper than Anis and way tastier. The staff could not be more welcoming and friendly. Basil’s is a cozy neighbor restaurant located in the heart of Buckhead with reasonable prices, friendly staff, and delicious food. What more could you want?

ABC - Awesome Basil's Cuisine

By T S |

Our party of five adults dined on Sunday evening at Basil's in Buckhead. The restaurant was easy to find - just off Pharr Road on quaint Grandview Ave. From the moment we stepped onto the comfortable patio - part of which is covered and part open air - we received very attentive service. Basil's has an excellent wine menu and a very nice variety of food offerings (tapas as well as entrees), especially the daily specials. We enjoyed the calimari, hummus, and baba ganoush as appetizers. Everyone in our party ordered something different for dinner, and all were very satisfied. All but one of us had fish entrees, which were uniquely prepared; the fifth person in our party enjoyed a lucious ribeye with mashed potatoes. All the ladies had leftovers to take home. The baklava is outstanding - tasty without being too sweet - just loaded with walnuts and finished with pistachios on top. We were able to self-park in the ample lot behind the building, perhaps due to visiting on a Sunday evening. We will certainly return to try other interesting menu items.

Bad service

By RL |

Very bad service and not acceptable in any standards. Some starters never came and the host wanted us to pack it and take it home! Waiter kicked a chair and gave my wife a bruise in the leg. It is a restaurant that is NEVER about you. Food is a B, but there are many places in Atlanta that you can have better food and certainly better service. A horrible experience for Mother's Day. Will definitely not return!

Excellent food, but poor execution and service

By sfinestone |

I met a business friend for lunch at Basil's today. The setting had a delightful Mediterranean feel. My friend ordered the Greek Shrimp with feta cheese and I ordered the Lamb Burger. After waiting more than 30 minutes, we asked our server about our order. She assured us it would be out any minute. After waiting another 6 or 7 minutes, we asked again, as we both had client meetings. Our server told us 5 minutes at the most. When we asked what happened, she told us they had lost the ticket in the kitchen. The restaurant was not crowded, and isn't the server supposed to follow up on orders she has placed for her customers? When the food came out, almost one hour after we placed our order, it was delicious. Just a shame we had to endure such an unconcerned wait. When we got our check, we just handed the served our credit cards, as we were seriously late. We were charged $25 for the Greek Shrimp as opposed to the $17 on the menu. We were too late to argue. No telling how long it would have taken to get the check corrected. What a shame! Delicious food. Delightful setting. I will not return.

Delicious food, but very unpredictable service.

By SEbiztraveler2 |

We've eaten at here twice in the last week. The first time, which was our first, it was highly commendable. The server was attentive, helpful and he made an excellent impression. The second time was last night and she was rushed, impersonal and actually reached across us twice to put something on the table. The appetizer was served WITH the entree, and when I brought this her attention, she said, "I thought it would make it easier". Not at all. It meant the appetizer got cold as we ate the entree. The food was delicious but the coffee wasn't hot. These are little things but they add up. We would like to go back but we'll see if there's a reply to this review before we make those plans.

We went back to an oldie we used to like but forgot about

By Sandra R |

I took my husband out for a Father's Day dinner at Basil's. We had frequented the restaurant a lot in years past but just got out of the habit. Well, we went and had a delicious dinner. I had the loup de mer, which was a black grouper that came with jasmine rise and a bright green broccoli and green bean combination vegetable. My husband had the tuna. They have a paella that is a little different..kind of soupy like a bouillabaisse Service was very good. Oh, and a lovely red head female bartender made a superb Bombay Sapphire martini!

Outdoor delight

By JeneferOSEA |

Intimate. The place that the locals go when they are escaping the crowds. The appetizers are outstanding and the wine prices affordable. The menu seems modern Mediterranean with high quality ingredients and healthy cooking. I loved sitting outside, nibbling on tapas and sharing a bottle of wine with friends.

Tasty Mediterranean Food

By ans695 |

Even though this restaurant has been in Atlanta for 25 years, this is the first time that I have tried it. The outdoor patio was great on a warm windy night. The service was a little odd and slow at times. The food was very good! The smoked salmon on flatbread is a must try. The scallops and salmon entrees were also good. It was restaurant week so they were only offering the restaurant week menu but allowed us to substitute a few things on the regular menu. Reservations are a must because the patio was packed by the time we left. Will try again.

Perfect Celebration dinner

By PrinceKP |

When in Buckhead, our family always takes the opportunity to share a meal at Basils! This Feb night, the deck was uncovered with no need for heat and everything was perfect! Our tweens have visited many times but as they get older they enjoy more Of the menu. Tonight’s choices were Brie, A Caesar salad and the caprese pasta for the Littles. The hubs and I devoured the mussels! The charred bread was perfect in the white wine sauce! This was followed with our staples of the Greek salad (perfect), the chicken with sundried tomato topping (yes, it is too much food...you will eat the leftovers 3 hours later when you remember how yummy it Was), and a special request of the lunch only trout dish in lemon caper butter sauce which will rock your world!! So many great memories and meals in this restaurant! Always delivers!!

Just average- nice atmosphere

Haven't been here in a while -Sat night and empty- nice atmosphere- but the food was just average- lacks taste and zest- there are better places in Atlanta Not somewhere I would come back or recommend

Great food and atmosphere

My girlfriends and I came here for our bachelorette night dinner. The place was really nice but still had a fun vibe to it. There was live music which wasn't too loud. Our server was great. The food was fantastic! Everyone had a array of appetizers and entrée plates and it was all delicious! I can't wait to go back!

Fantastic Mediterranean Food with Excellent Service.

By CityGirlATL |

Don't let the photo of the sandwich and fries fool you. Basil's is not a sandwich location. I didn’t even see fries on the menu. They offer a wonderful selection of Mediterranean inspired tapas, salads and entrees. My companion and I shared various tapas and took advantage of half priced bottles of wine (Monday and Wednesday). My partner especially like the raw oysters. I don't eat them, but he said they were amazing. The mushroom flat bread and the stuffed grape leaves were my favorites Basil's has been in business for 35 years and most of the staff has worked there the whole time. Service was fantasic!

Such a breath of fresh air!

Such a great place to eat! I love the food the ambience everything. Add to the fact that it is dog friendly! You can't get a more perfect neighborhood type restaurant. I highly recommend the Tapas menu anything on it is good and you will walk away satisfied and happy

Great experience.

Met some friends in a Friday evening for tapas and drinks. The restaurant's atmosphere is do relaxing, the staff was very attentive. Tapas were delicious, calamari, and the crab cakes, is a must try. Excellent wine list, ghry also make a great Dry Martini. But What enjoyed most was the owner Joseph, Thank you for a great time.

friendly atmosphere, good food

By WPBTA |

Food was very tasty except for "fake" mashed potatoes- big no-no in my book, Entree very good, flatbread for the table very tasty, good wine selection, good amboance at bar. Serving fake mashed potatoes just ruins the dining experience, noice, frendly servers looks like a fun place when they're busy

Fabulous lunch in a lovely old house, close to Peachtree in Buckhead

By Ellen F |

A friend took us to lunch here when we were visiting Atlanta. The food was beyond delicious, the portions were huge, the service was exceptional and there was even a white tablecloth. We were almost beyond the lunchtime hours, but the staff did not hurry us at all. The hummus and grape leaf appetizer platter was a great start to lunch. Several of us ordered salads which were delicious and beautifully presented. The menu had salads, sandwiches and a variety of hot entrees. The atmosphere was charming and the food cannot be beat. You will love it!

Perfect Light Lunch!

By Ckbirdy |

Lovely place with a friendly atmosphere, a charming outdoor deck and antique decor. The food is light and fresh. We enjoyed the mushroom flatbread pizza as an appetizer. I had the tasty scallops and arugula special and my friend feasted on the perfectly rendered grouper and couscous. Definitely recommend you try this place!

Quaint restaurant in Buckhead

By MissyKelly |

So after living in Atl for over 10 years I randomly discovered this gem. They have an all year round patio that heated and enclosed for those rainy or cold winter days. They have an expansive wine menu, full bar, great food, and excellent customer service. Order the crab cakes and spinach/kale salad.

Abused

This is more a review of "treatment" vs. "food." I made a reservation via Opentable.com for Valentine's Day 2-14-14 dinner at Basil's for party of 3 at 9 pm with my two daughters for a special dad/daughter dinner. Upon arriving it became clear that the restaurant was a logistical nightmare. There was no host or hostess at the desk to check in. About 20 people were crowded at the entrance either waiting to check in with the non-existent host or waiting for a table to become available. There was mass confusion - people were upset, anxious, and ignored. The wait staff was frazzled and the host (who may have been the owner) was overwhelmed. People were arbitrarily sitting at tables that hadn't even been cleaned. Clearly, the restaurant had way over-booked for the evening. After 3 attempts to politely inquire about the status of my table to the host, who either avoided giving me a definitive answer or completely ignored me, we left after an hour of total frustration. The restaurant looks charming and could possibly be a very nice dining venue. And, understandably, an event like VD puts a lot of pressure on any restaurant. However, because the owners were more concerned about getting bodies into the restaurant rather than providing courteous/friendly service and appropriately managing logistics, my daughters and I will not venture there again.

AVOID this place unless you want to pay to be insulted.

AVOID this place unless you want to pay to be insulted. We were the first party seated for Sunday brunch. Seemed disorganized, only one employee setting up the tables, etc, but we figured it's because the place just opened. ONE HOUR LATER, our food had not arrived. At this point there were three parties seated including us. Then the food for the third party came out before ours, even though we were clearly the first diners of the day. There was a manager there who clearly was aware of the problem and didn't apologize or acknowledge us in any way. It seems that treating us like second class citizens was the plan all along. Even with the wait my husband's entree was not ready and he had to wait while everyone else ate. Then they brought out the wrong item anyways. The waitress did the best she could but nothing can make it better when you're insulted repeatedly like that. Spend your time and hard earned money somewhere else. There's a reason why all the other restaurants on the street are always busy, but this place is always empty. Not sure how they stay in business as it seems all other reviewers had a similar experience.

Beware!

By isabelarcher |

If you have meal here, be aware that the menu you get has incorrect prices. The wait person does NOT tell you every item on it is at least $2 more than the printed price. In addition, if you use a credit card, you will be charge 3.5% more than cash--this last has become common in restaurants, I'm sorry to say. Food is still good; service is still slow. But I resent the fact that you don't know the price of an item before the final bill.

Excellent evening, especially the service

By aperry932 |

Tried this place for a last minute dinner with friends on a Friday evening. We were all pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and the excellent service. Our waitress Meg was very pleasant and attentive. There is a wide variety of tapas, but full-sized entrees are available as well. A little something for everyone, basically. They have inside dining as well as an outdoor patio in front. After the positive experience we had on our initial visit, I'm sure we'll be back.

Loved It

By meddavis |

Went early on a Sunday morning at had the place to ourselves which made it easier to talk because if it was busy it could get a little loud. Service was great but could of been because we were the only ones there. Only had the choice for brunch menu but everything was delicious. Whole party enjoyed,

Nice place with good variety

Excellent waitress who was very knowledgeable about the menu. Paella was different but very good and my wife ate the scallops which were excellent

Great food and nice atmosphere

I have been going to Basil's for over 25 years! One of the few "non-chain" overpopulated restaurants left in Atlanta. Went with friends for my birthday and Basil's never disappointed! Had the Greek shrimp! Amazing! Customer for as long as I live here!

Great dinner - salmon flatbread to die for

By Floyd_2012 |

A very neat place - an old house converted to a restaurant. Pretty crowded (Saturday night) although it was the day after Valentines Day. We had a flatbread appetizer with smoked salmon that was to die for. For entres, one had ahi tuni, another scallops and the third had two other appetizers. All were very good. Wine was reasonably priced.
