Great Home Cooking

We had delicious fresh seafood that were huge portions. The gumbo was so flavorful. Best service we've had!

Great Little Seafood Restaurant

By kkrause99 |

Don't let this small "hole-in-the-wall" fool you. It's very clean run by very nice and affable staff. The food is very good and the portions are large. They serve "downhome" soul food on Sundays so whenever I'm in San Antonio again on a Sunday, I will be definitely checking them out.

Love the fishes!

By Karrie P |

I love their fish. The ladies that work there are really nice, they are funny and most importantly they are helpful. I enjoy going in there after work and picking up an other of fried Cod with cole sale and French fried. Their "red sauce" is to die for. They have begun selling "fish backs" I am still puzzled at what to do with them. Anyway, I am glad that they are back in my neighborhood serving all sorts of fishes!

Great food and service

We were greeted right away and seated immediately. It was 12 noon. The fried catfish is incredibly good. The fries are great. The shrimp is also delicious. The coleslaw is plentiful and very tasty. The to go cup of ice tea was huge and even gave us a refill to go. The service was great. Our server kept checking on us. We loved that the food was Hot when it was brought to our table. You will not be disappointed in this restaurant.

Disappointing

By BarbaraK123 |

I was very anxious to have dinner at Bay Seas as I remember them from years ago. They have had different locations over the years, but this one was near me. I ordered the 2 piece Fried Flounder. When it came there were 4 little strips of fish, about the size of a thin chicken tender, I was rather disappointed. The fries and cole slaw that came with it, were okay, nothing earth shattering. My companion had the medium gumbo, he said it was just okay, teeny-tiny shrimp, some sausage and big pieces of celery. An iced tea came with maybe two ice cubes in it, which quickly melted! I said something to the lady when we checked out about how they used to have really good baked lemon pepper fish, which was not on the menu. She said next time, I should ask for it, which I found kind of strange, why not just put it on the menu! Everything was served on syrofoam plates and bowls with plastic utensils. No knives where given, also no hush puppies with the fish dinner. They do have a nice dining area and the wait staff is very friendly and helpful. Hopefully, the longer they are in this location, things will improve.

First restaurant to visit

After coming back to SA from being in DC area for 2 1/2 years... my first stop was to Bayseas. Great food, warm hospitality and friendship over the pass 15 years.

Yummy Comfort Food

I loved all the fried food and the servers could not be sweeter. I hate that I did not know they had mudbugs that day. Will have to go back next season.

Comfort Seafood

By Nubian |

When your visiting and out of town and looking for that Southern comfort! We had asked the driver about Seafood places that were good...we told him not Pappadeaux's(we already ate there). He says Red Lobster we laughed and were like no we are looking for some good food! He mentioned Bayseas and some others so we landed here. You know it's good food when you see the man with a greasy floured apron on. People still eating when it's an hour to closing and the phones are ringing and people rushing in to get orders to go! This is everything seafood related and southern sides. When they list macaroni and cheese as a vegetable it's got to be good. I had mainly vegetables mac and cheese including, fried okra, yams and hushpuppies all delectable no left overs. My friends had the catfish, black eyed peas and cabbage. We were very happy with our choice. So, as we are checking out at the counter the guy in the back says..."I just took the peach cobbler out the oven" we were stuffed and decline. However once we all got in the car we ALL had second thoughts and agreed to getting the cobbler of course to go at this point as it was 5 minutes to closing. When I got back to my room I thought I'd save the cobbler for breakfast with coffee. I said to my self it's still warm let me just taste it. Well, let's just say the peach cobbler did not making for breakfast with coffee. The only thing missing was a scoop of vanilla icecream!

Great food and the best service we've ever had!

By Anthony_Nalli |

This humble little place is staffed by probably the nicest people we have ever met! They are genuinely welcoming and show obvious interest in making sure every single aspect of your visit with them is everything they can make it. But as good as this is, let’s talk about the food. We ordered the catfish and shrimp plates - one fried, one grilled. But we started with the gumbo. It was absolutely delicious and chock full of… everything. Shrimp, pulled chicken, sausage, veggies. Fantastic with a bit of a spicy kick. The fried dish was lightly breaded and perfectly fried making the taste of the underlying fish and shrimp come through nicely. But the grilled dish was simply unbelievable! Perfectly seasoned with with an ultra-flavorful paprika blend. This is definitely worth coming back for all on its own! We believe the desserts are made in house. The coconut cake was moist and awesome... and this is coming from someone who wouldn’t normally so much as try a coconut dessert of any kind. We tried the sweet potato pie because we’ve never had one. It was like pumpkin pie (which I love) without the spice taste (which made it even better). Finally, the peach cobbler which simply did not disappoint. Heck, even the lemon sweet tea was the best we’ve ever had. But without exaggeration, this is the best service we have ever received in any restaurant. I think it’s a family operation which speaks volumes about the warmth and kindness of the family. If it’s NOT a family business (which frankly would surprise me) then kudos to the management for creating such an atmosphere. Excellent food. Unmatched service. A well deserved perfect rating.

Great grilled catfish

By bears60 |

We tried the grilled catfish instead of fried and it was DELICIOUS! The food was piping hot which we loved. The coleslaw is amazing. The French fries and onion rings also hot and delicious. Hush puppies are very light and crunchy. The oysters were lightly battered and the shrimp was good size. The restaurant is very clean. The service is great. You will not be disappointed in this restaurant. Thanks for a great meal at a good price.

Excellent Fried Fish

By GunnyFred |

Excellent fish fast food, reasonably priced. Though it looks like a hole in the wall at the strip mall, the place is clean and the prices are not out of line. The fish is not greasy like some other places. Good for the family.

Nice Visit

By Jon E |

The staff was welcoming and smiling. I ordered a 2 piece catfish dinner with Cole slaw and green beans ($10.99). Everything was delicious. The cole slaw was creamy not vinegar based, the way I like it. The catfish was fried golden brown and very tasty. My wife ordered the shrimp Po Boy with a side of onion rings ($8.99). She said the shrimp was good, but the onion rings were great. I definitely want to go back and try different food items. Good spot if you like fried fish and shrimp.

Service with a smile

Upon arrival I was greeted at the door by the hostess who opened the door to invite me in. (Nice touch). The servers all had smiles on their face and were very friendly. After placing my order the food was served fast fresh and hot. The catfish was delicious! The restaurant was very clean. Really good food and even better service!

By Beebster 2021 |

The amount of food you get for the price is unbelievable and what made it even better is that the food was fresh and delicious. the homemade tartar sauce was also great. I am not big on fried food but they did a great job. We took the food out so it was
