My mother made German food, and this place brought back good memories. Food is good and very inexpensive, people were very friendly, like a big family. Located in very historic area, nice to walk around.

We went to First Friday--it was crazy! Too many people--food was ok--some of the bands were ok--others were not focusing on German culture. Otherwise, it was ok.

This is a fun place during Fiesta if you like German food and Big Bands. The courtyard is nice but it gets really crowded. To avoid long food lines arrive a little early, same for seating but overall a fun place to eat, drink and listen to live music during Fiesta. Never been on First Fridays but I hear it is fun then too. If you're visiting for fiesta this is a nice alternative to NIOSA, which is really packed on Friday night.

Very low key but good service and better beer. Historic German beer garden that has been around forever. They hold a Fiesta event every year that is fun.

Went to Beethoven Hall last Friday. Music was good. The German beer was cold, and very reasonable. It was $12 per pitcher! An unbelievable price in Southtown. They served brauts that were good as well. Everyone was very friendly. Kids were running around, so good family fun. Good mix of people.

Never eaten here (nor do I know if they have food), but excellent choice of beer and great place to enjoy them

Early dinner, bratwurst and sauerkraut, and the band was practicing at 6 p.m. what a delight. MeuterMedia

We visited during the Fiesta events in San Antonio, and we were extremely glad we did. There was plenty of delicious German beer for me, wines for my lady, and food for the both of us. The atmosphere was perfect and with the sounds of Good Polka and German choir, sights of German attire, camaraderie between all strangers who became friends immediately, this was a great experience. What a magical beer Garden!

Have attended multiple events here and it is always a great time. Claus is a great host and the team is always friendly and fun.

Total German ambience, German beer on tap, German Bratwurst, white and red, Leberkaese and Rueben sandwiches, Gulasch, all for $5.00 each. Great entertainment and choir music in German by the Maennerchor and Damenchor. Large beer garden and air conditioned Halle and bar. A wonderful authentic experience to have fun! First Friday and third Friday Concert evening of each month.

Love this place, I miss it when I moved, beer and food for $12, traditional German food by people who care and are trying to keep their club going.

They have special events all year long. St. Patricks Day is fun and the Christmas market and celebration on the first Sat. of Dec. are my two favorites.

We went here because my wife's father and step mother play in the New Braunfels Brass Band. There were stands providing food and drink and they appeared to be reasonably priced but we had already eaten elsewhere so had only dessert. The outdoor atmosphere was superb and the music varied and stimulating.

This is an amazing treasure in King William. Huge outdoor space with great pitchers of Paulaner and other German brews. Came here late for some drinks and realized this is the kind of place I would go to all the time if I lived in SA. No food, but who needs it, when you can drink your lunch.

First Friday of the Month event! AWESOME place to enjoy the entertainment, food, environment. Real GERMAN food and fun people. Its a GREAT place for everyone, only lil issue I see....is you have to find decent parking.

This is an excellent place to have a wedding. The staff were wonderful providing a great location with both indoor and outdoor places to be. While just a bar, we will return to celebrate a wonderful event!

A friend and I attended SouthTown's First Friday in San Antonio and landed at Beethoven's, which appears to be some kind of school or something but on First Friday converts into a Beer Garden. I don't know if they serve food throughout the week, but on First Friday hosted several music groups on a stage, choruses, and even a UTSA band to play German music for the outdoor festivities. We paid cover at the door and got beer. I ordered a braut and got dessert later. The place was packed to the gills with people, which wasn't necessarily bad. Long rows of picnic tables hosted hundreds enjoying the German festivities. There were raffels and music and people were having birthday parties among the throng. Covered in colored lights, the whole atmosphere was very nice and my friend and I enjoyed ourselves rather a lot, though it got a bit loud for any kind of real conversation. If you're looking for something to do on a Friday night, and like German food and culture, I highly recommend hopping down to the festivities here next First Friday!

Nothing fancy. Germany beer food, but great outdoor atmosphere and setting. During local holidays and celebrations, quite crowded. Get there early.

After dinner, son and daughter-in-law brought me over to have a beer (cash only) and check the place out. Looking forward to the wedding in November!

Not everyone knows that San Antonio and surrounding areas were settled by Germans in the mid-late 1800's. Its still evident in a few authentic places like this German bar and beer garten. Great for special events and just being in a time capsule. Cash only. Crazy, right?

Came here for an early dinner on a recommendation from a local friend. Such a fun place. There were not many patrons due to the hour and it being out of season. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Most were speaking German as this is a club aiming to support German culture and language. We had a German hamburger on a pretzel bun with cheese and grilled onions - so tasty. Also tried the goulash and German pretzel. All great and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Waited way to long to go inside of this place. Such a friendly staff - Danielle (female bartender?) was such a sweetheart and so attentive. Great beer on draft and amazing prices. Very chill, neighborhood feel. Lots of vets around, mixed crowd of fun people. Really enjoy the events they have too, I have been outside a few times. Always a good time.

Great way too celebrate Oktoberfest. German wine , beer, food & music Big crowd last night Great family event

Visited here for the first time to attend a wedding. Was a great venue for special events and I will probably return to have a beer sometime at the bar. Thoroughly enjoyed learning about the German history here at the Maennerchor and ties to SA. Wonderful outdoor area. I encourage the visitor to explore all of the rooms there.

This is a German club in San Antonio and they open up to the public on First Fridays and during Fiesta. First Friday is a public event in Southtown where this is located and it has become a popular eating, drinking and shopping event in San Antonio. Beethoven is located in the center of Southtown and they open and serve typical German food (Sausage and Sauerkraut) plus beer and wine. They normally have live music and it is a fun family friendly place to stop and enjoy.

Love coming her for the music, beer & wine Sooo crowded We've never tried the food but it smells amazing

Support this non profit organization. By drinking German beer and wine. Listening ,dancing and singing to German music. Lots of food reasonably priced. All for a good organization.

My family is very German, and I have "had" to go here since I was small. That has moved on to wanting to go there, and meeting my brother and friends every Monday. The closest thing you're going to get to a Munich beer hall experience in SA. Look for First Friday and Fiesta if you want to do the whole Umpah band thing, but fun anytime, including kids running free - so bring the family!
Great Place
Friendly people, good food, great German Beer, low prices, good entertainment, can be indoors or out, plus it's open to rent to have your own event.
