Fun, buzzy place on Wednesday night around 8:30pm. Expectation: It's a pizza place with appetizers. It seemed all the appetizers we ordered were also stuff on pieces of bread (3 pieces per plate). No pasta. There's gnochi and risotto. No reservations except for party of 6+. Don't sit by the table next to the cash register: Elbow in your face/head every 5 minutes. Hostess was friendly, wait staff - meh (they all seemed grouchy, perhaps it was a busy night). I'd come back for a drink and share a slice. Fun place, loud. 2 unisex bathrooms, one was broken. For the 2 of us with 3 appetizers and 2 drinks: $53.70. (Drinks were 50% of this bill just for a glass of wine ($10.00 and cocktail $12.00), then's there's an employee tax, city tax, + tip (not included in this amount).

Not my first visit here but I was reminded what I didn't like about this place. While it has some outside sitting and interesting cocktails, the place is overrated and expensive or what you get. Maybe I haven't been out for late afternoon drinks and snacks in the Mission for a while so I could be out of touch with prices, but it was overpriced for what we ate. Being that the sweet potatoes fries and walnut bread were just ok, the good part of our bill was approx $25. Not worth that. Service was fine, cocktails ok. Lots of other places to choose from around that area. Not my first choice.

Appetizers to share family style with pizza and rissoto. Cocktails were delish! Try the Berlinger. We tried multiple appetizers and shared a margarita pizza. Various desserts to share as well. We got there at 4:00 on a Sunday and no problem getting in. No reservations unless large party. Many dishes with barretta cheese. Lovely. Simple decor but friendly staff. Will return

It can get crowded but if you plan ahead with a reservation or don't mind a community table you will dine well here. The pizza margherita was the only thing we had on our last visit, but it was perfect. reasonably priced at $12.00, and filled up two very hungry people. The wine list was also a pleasure to peruse, stop by and explore it for yourself.

Went on a Monday night while visiting SF for the first time. Waited 30+ minutes so I knew it had to be good. Staff, food & drinks were amazing! Waiter brought us over free SF drinks and ice cream. Wish they had one in NYC! Will most definitely be back next time in SF! Recommend the pizza and fried asparagus!

This was our first time at Beretta, although our daughter has been here on a few occasions for food that she said was fabulous. It certainly looked (and smelled) amazing as we watched the work in the open kitchen and stared (with envy) as plates went by. We were here for a glass of wine or two before a show. The pours were generous. The wine was good quality. And the servers were so at-ease, in-command and accommodating. I had a creative specialized cocktail, the South Park Swizzle, that was SOOO tasty.

I was with a group of eight. We ordered many items and shared family style. The eggplant caponitina with beratta was amazing! We ordered a variety of pizzas to share, all were great. And, for dessert - the pana gelato with olive oil and sea salt was out of this world (I can't quit thinking about it).

A little noisy, this is a masterpiece of creative flavors. We stopped in and sampled some appetizers (fried asparagus in caper aioli sauce and a truffle and barata cheese bruschetta both incredible). Then we had the French Toast which is a think toasted breach with a delicious berry sauce and the eggs and and bacon pizza which was incredible. We finished off with a vanilla gelato with a cinnamon cookie, drizzled in olive oil and sprinkled with sea-salt. We had a bit of a wait for a table, but it was worth it! You can sit outside or in and they apparently have some great drinks and evening food.

We enjoyed an awesome dinner with delicious pizza. But a few days later we realized that they charged our credit card $100 instead of 60. Not cool. So better pay cash if you want the excitement for the great food to last longer...

My wife and I were meeting one of our long time friends after numerous years of not seeing her. We came to this restaurant at her recommendation. The restaurant is located in a less busy area of San Francisco (great!!). The menu is very limited and seemed like a café menu versus a restaurant. My wife had the squid ink risotto, our friend had the saffron risotto, and I had their steak. The risotto was ok, but not as tasty as expected. The steak was well prepared on a bed of broccoli and had a pretty good taste. We also had dungenes crab balls (similar to crab cakes) that tasted awesome! Overall, it was a nice experience, but not impressed.

The food is good: I took some mushroom tartines and the spicy pepperoni pizza (good but not amazing). We were on the terrace which is much more quiet ! But a bit cold The staff is very nice and friendly !

You can't go wrong with the Italian food of Beretta! Delicious funghi truffle risotto, every pizza, fried cauliflower, meatballs, parmigiana zucchini...everything is super tasty! Nice cozy ambience, perfect service. All waiters are cool and efficient. Great cocktails! A destination!! Not to be missed

Every Time I walk pass, there is always a line! I wonder - is the food really that good or do people just like standing in line? Of course I was one who tried to stand in line but 2 hrs on a Friday nite did not appeal to me. My curiosity lead me to plan a party here ... And though it was not my first choice ( I wanted a view overlooking the bay) it turned out to be the perfect place - a private room downstairs for 35 and great for slideshow ! The food is as fantastic as I imagined- we ordered off a prefix menu making a few slight changes. Our favorites - Spit meatballs - giant meatballs in a red sauce Lamb chops - perfectly grilled Saffron risotto osso buco - so so good Frittata - w/generous veggies & pesto Spicy sausage pizza - the crowd favorite Margarita pizza - the pizza test Caesar kale salad - great combo Fava bean bruschetta Olives Not only is the food fantastic. Working with their event team (Erica & nancy) made everything seamless. Although they were not yet open for business, they welcomed me to come look at the space before booking. Their flexibility in making a few minor substitutions made it very easy to work with them. As with any large party, we had a few minor glitches however, Alex, the manager, worked with us to quickly to resolve the issues. Not only was I impressed.. My guests loved the place. Many loved the party room and thinking about reserving for their own future use! As someone who grew up with restaurant in the blood, I appreciate a well-run business with their customers as their primal concern!!! Oh yes, and be sure to check out the drinks ... The have a nice wine list and fun drinks like the Moscow mule ... And best of all ... Dessert ... Make sure u order the tiramisu!!!

This is a very fun place with great service, great food, and lots of drinks!!! We came on the way to the theater (the Marsh down the street, which is SUPER) and our server was totally on top on our time requirements. We chose the small plate option, and each one was better than the next. The fried cauliflower was light and flavorful; the bruschetta was rich and creamy and the salad fresh and crunchy. I'd be there all the time if I lived in the City!!!

I booked this restaurant for our office Christmas party 1 month before the required date. I phoned up 1 week before to confirm our booking and received an email and text message from the restaurant making sure we were going to turn up. We arrive promptly at 6.30pm and order our first few bottles of wine. By 6.40pm all our party are seated and we order appetizers. The party was getting going all in good spirits as the wine is flowing and the appetizers arrive slowly but surely. When we ask if we can order our main courses we are told that the table needs to be vacated in 15 minutes. We are outraged and complain to the manager who offers us a table outside (47 degrees outside). I was informed that we should have taken to option to PAY for a longer stay at the table. I would have had at any point during confirming my booking been given the option.

The cocktails are inventive and delicious. The food is quite delicious. The squid ink risotto was a favorite. Prices are quite reasonable. Only negative is that it is noisy inside making conversation difficult.

We have been here over a dozen times. The food is great, diverse options. Cocktails are truly excellent. Meat balls are some of the best in town, "creative" pizzas really work.

This place is loud and fun. The food is yummy. The desserts are amazing. Take it from the original Dessert Girl you need to have dessert here. Our waitress was outstanding, very helpful since we were new to this place.

I've written a number of reviews for Beretta; it was a favorite restaurant of ours when we lived in San Francisco, and my husband and I try to go each time we are back in the Bay Area. Like always, we were happy we decided to go for dinner on a recent trip. Everything is consistently superb here: food, service and overall atmosphere. They don't take reservations, and it is usually crowded, but the wait is always faster than expected. A definite gem in the Mission!

The question isn't will you love it. The question will be can you eat everything you would want to eat. The starters are incredible. Sweet potato fries and meatball are a must. They also deliver!

Wow the food here was amazing, very inventive and tasty. Very prompt, friendly service with great selection of cocktails and drinks. I couldn't fault my experience at Beratta, could be the best meal I had in the USA. GO there and treat yourself.

We had a short stop at this great place and we had great drinks and food. Lots of cocktails. Probably one of the best bars in town and service is just epic! You have to try pizzas and the octopus entree. Very friendly environment in the Mission. Great to hang out with friends or family.

Perfect little place to grab a bite with friends while club hopping. Everything is fresh and delicious, and if you are a meat eater the lamb chops are a must! Good cocktails too!

Beretta is the perfect storm of what you'd want in a restaurant: delicious food, excellent cocktails and outstanding service in a super trendy, sexy looking space. So, unsurprisingly you will wait for a table here. Waited 15 minutes for a table for two on a Sunday night which in this New Yorker's opinion isn't bad. Order the meatballs (jusssst the right amount of heat), we also really enjoyed the kale and romaine caesar. As far as pizza goes, we created our own. The cocktails are also perfection. I only wish there were an outpost in NYC.

The four of us were ready to try something new. We had read reviews of the food and were prepared to have a meal where we would share many small plates and a few entrées. We ordered: fried asparagus, arugula & fennel salad, walnut bread with burrata, onion flatbread, frito misto, gnocchi, prosciutto & argula pizza and the short ribs. It seemed like a lot but respect was paid to every dish. Even with that much food, we only brought home two slices of the pizza, so definitely we ate to our hearts content. We were particularly impressed with the Frito Misto; the quantity of seafood was generous with calamari and shrimp. And because it was immediately served fresh and hot, it was that much tastier. We will definitely be back as we all enjoyed the food and the experience. Go (early) with four or more people so you can have a wider variety of dishes. The service pace with thoughtful, and attentive. Good value.

On a rainy Sunday afternoon, the dining room was packed with hipsters of all ages. We showed our vaccination cards to be seated. Yummy mushroom risotto and margherita pizza with burrata added during baking, not after. Plates and wine pours seemed a bit small but good quality for the price.

After arriving in San Fransisco late evening we left our hotel to find somewhere to get a meal. After looking around the area for a while all places were closing but a guy in the street recommended Beretta's. So we caught a cab and it ended up being a great place for dinner and a drink. Their pizzas were really good as were their desserts. The service was really helpful and friendly so we would definitely recommend this restaurant as a place to dine. The prices were good too.

Took my BF here for birthday dinner. Nothing but good things to say. The service was really friendly, and the food and drinks were outstanding. The cocktails are all super fancy & have approximately 80 ingredients each...but they are so delicious. We ordered all food to share between the two of us & it worked out pretty well. Food highlights included: - Crab arancini (little rice balls with Dungeness crab...YUM) - Pizza (we made a custom Margherita with eggs and olives on top which was great) - Saffron & Osso Bucco Risotto - SO SO good - Broccolini with garlic & pepperoncini - sounds like it would be plain & not particularly special, but it was really outstanding.

Fun spot to go with friends - the truffle honey with burrata was amazing. Creative cocktails, delicious pizza, nice setting.

Ah Beretta. It's a fashionable place to be in San Francisco. It's gone more into and out of and back into vogue than beards. And there are plenty of them at Beretta. As i live 2850 miles from Beretta, I still eat there more than my friends that live in its neighborhood. Locals seem to shy from their crowds. Ups: 1) Squid Ink Risotto so delicate and delicious you need to order it twice. 2) Their bread is magical. Even the carb-avoiders cannot resist it. 3) Their Gnocchi with pancetta was so delicious the table next to mine was leaving without finishing theirs and they interjected and said, "hey, apparently you're a food critic and I took one bite of the Risotto you are so vocally excited about and it wasn't for me. If you'd like it, and aren't creeped out by a stranger touching your food, it's all yours." THAT NEVER HAPPENS. I would never do accept that in a million years unless it was Beretta Gnocchi. (that's a lie. I would probably accept that anywhere.) 4) Their arugula and fennel salad is also magical.I mean it. magical. I think the dressing is heaven sweat. 5) Their drinks are passionately made by lumberjacks who clean up nice and smell exquisite. The amount of time you'll have to wait to get your drink (between waiting to get a lumberjack's attention and then the time it takes him to chop down your drink) will far exceed the time it takes to drink it. So the rule at Beretta is, if you ever get a lumberjack's attention, have him make your drink and your next two drinks at the same time. Trust me. Downs 1) "Syndrome Occupe" as they say in Paris. The best places are the hardest to get into. It's always been extraordinarily busy every time I've gone there. There's going to be a wait. I recall some issues with reservation snags more than once. 2) I think they're known for their pizzas. I've tried several of them and was left wondering why I made such a mistake when their other offerings are so memorable. 2.1) It's always a few hundred bucks. Seriously, if I go there myself or I take four clients, it seems to always cost about the same. Not sure how this works. b) You really have to bring your own service experience. The hostesses and wait staff aren't really into you. If you're clever you'll find a way to play into that making it a better experience for all. Last time I was there, I turned a bad server into a fantastic friend within the time it took to place my second drink order. Over all, go there and be there. Be totally into being there. Don't go there because it's dinner time. Bonus: There are slack gender norms that may surprise you. My last time there, a stray bachelorette party girl walked into the bathroom with a "funny" hat while I was using the restroom. She started to hike up her hula skirt mumbling for me to hurry up. Which was a perfect ending to an outstanding evening at Beretta. Highly recommend on all levels.

We went as a group, and it was put the way for us but such enjoyable food and relatively good service (I flustered one waiter with my nut allergy but a waitress stepped in and sorted it out without issue). Their pork was delicious as were all the desserts!

We were dazed, confused & hungry after a 17 hour flight (& 17 hour time difference) from Singapore. The hotel concierge's usual suspects didn't do it for us so we decided to head out to Mission Valley and check out the eateries. Beretta was buzzing at 4.00pm and delivered a splendid salad & pasta lunch with a bottle of drinkable Italian red. Mission is a 'real' suburb and well worth the ten minute cab ride out of the touristy centre. We will try Beretta for dinner next time we are in town.

This lively restaurant is the perfect spot to go if you want to sidle up to the bar, for cocktails and appetizers! It can be on the loud side, and you may have to wait for a while, but you can go to another bar down the street, and they will call your cell phone when your table is ready. it's a great slice of how the locals eat and drink, and party down! The food is tasty, and the selection of appetizers is beautiful. It's fun and local style!

Pretty chill place. Awesome, awesome food and service! Antipasti: Meatball - spicy tomato sauce Walnut bread burrata - mushroom-truffle honey Pizza: if you like it spicy... Hot Salami - coppa, tomato, provolone & diavolicchio Risotto: Risotto with Oso Bucco Dessert: A MUST TRY panna gelato with extra virgin olive oil & sea salt

I went to Beretta on a Saturday night with some friends. We all LOVED the food and cocktails - high quality and creative all around. The bartender was very nice. The only downside was that we ended up eating at the bar because this place doesn't take reservations and the wait was over an hour. It would make a big difference in my willingness to go back if the restaurant reserved a few tables for reservations.

It's clearly a successful place and therefore always busy and loud, but the quality of food (Amazing walnut bread burrata & mushroom truffle honey!!!) makes up for the crowded, loud place. Service was great too. Our party of 6, including 2 children, enjoyed every single dish.

We went there because the place we should go were close. Nice surprise !! Good food , good service and a cool place with only locals!

Fun place, great pizza, offers takeout. Bit crowded. Sitting was cramped and had a sore throats from shouting to hear person across from me. But great pizza and service.

This was another hit on my visit to California this summer. We came in a medium sized group, and enjoyed a good selection of starters combined with a few pizzas. Service was excellent - but then I don't think I experienced any bad service in my time in America at all (take note Britain) - and the food had plenty of flavour. I've had too many bland Italian meals in my time in the UK, and it's not necessary. The burrata margherita was a highlight for me, and I think I found a new favourite cocktail too. A friend and I swapped the gin in the Lonsdale (gin, apple, lemon, basil, honey) for vodka and had no regrets! Definitely one I need to try and recreate at home. The decor felt quite trendy, so points for furnishings and also for a good, lively evening atmosphere.

2 things for this place the burrata is a must have specially the walnut bread burrata mushroom truffle honey and the prosecco. Also pizza with a lot of vegetarian options. Can be noisy but the food is great.

We are very picky about the Italian restaurant we will eat in (my wife lived in Naples for 5 years) and I can assure you the food here is brilliant. Check website for reservation policy, because its worth phoning ahead to get on the waiting list. Outstanding value for money too.

We stopped here for cocktails based on a recommendation from a friend. There is a wide variety of drinks to choose from, but our favorites were the tequila based cocktails. Best drinks we had in the city. And our server was a real sweetheart.

Came here on a Saturday; food was pretty good, a tad expensive, but it was worth the wait. Saffron Osso Bucco was tender and flavorful, pizza was alright. Decor and atmosphere was conducive to a nice dinner! Would recommend you try it!

Great location on a Mission corner Valencia st.a serious scene make this an ideal late-night dinner location. Open until 1am.

If you want a fabulous cocktail and small plates of food, head to Beretta. This restaurant was recommended by a friend and proved to be better than she said. Unusual and delicious cocktails. We love the small plate menu so we had the opportunity to try many things, don't miss the pizza! The place gets packed so get their early, you will love it.

The atmosphere is great but the food is even better. I heard you must have to wait long in the line but the for a Sunday late dinner it didn't take long.

Despite the rave reviews, we found this place was average on many levels. Service wasn’t great and we felt rushed out of the restaurant. The food was reasonable but not memorable. Probably not somewhere we would hurry back to.

We had the best night at Beretta. It was a Sunday night and we had not booked a table as we didnt realise how popular it would be on a Sunday night. We were wrong, the place was jumping, packed to the ceilings with people and it took us a while to actually get a table so we stood at the bar and had a couple of drinks. Food is fantastic, especially the pizzas and the cocktails very inventive and interesting. We would highly recommend this place for amazing food, great atmosphere and a really good time!

The food was great at Beretta and reasonably priced and the atmosphere also very good. However, the meal was rather ruined by the fact that, having waited around for 90 minutes for a table, they told us that even though we were a group of 4, we had to sit at a table for 3. Even more infuriatingly, as we sat down there were 2 free tables of 2 that they refused to put together. There was no good reason apart from wanting to treat us badly so they could get an extra cover in. It doesn't matter how good the food is, going to a restaurant is an all-round experience and overall it was poor.

My wife and I were only in San Francisco for one night after a national park trip and found this little gem after a quick search. I had the grilled pork shoulder chop with a citrus glaze, the specialty for Wednesday nights, and it was delicious. It was cooked perfectly and very tender. The garlic mashed potatoes were the perfect side. My wife's risotto was also one of the best she's ever tried. To cap it off, we found the drink menu to be very enticing and they had some great brews, including one from Iceland. The staff members were very friendly and accommodating and stopped to chat with us, which was nice. Highly recommend trying this place. We went during the week shortly after they opened, since we heard it gets packed, so that helped.

After touring San Francisco on foot, it was wonderful to relax with chilled beverages and have a great meal with our family at Beretta. This is a bustling spot in the Mission with a friendly atmosphere. We shared great appetizers and several entrees, all very tasty. Our server was excellent and very helpful.

It was a freezing day and we find this nice restaurant, we went in without knowing anything about it! Place is really nice, and food! AWSOME

We try to stop by Beretta at least once while we're in the Bay Area. This time, for drinks only, although I can tell you the pizzas and other food served here make your mouth water. The bartenders are exceedingly friendly and knowledgeable. I went with the Diablo (actually Dos Diablos): tequila, lime, ginger, agave, cassis. Refreshing. A lively crowd and everyone around you just seems to be in a good mood.

THE BEST!! I love everything about this place! It’s open late – the food is to die for and the service is excellent! The décor is hip and modern, not fussy but just enough class to make you feel like you’re in a nice place. We ordered a bunch of small plates to share, and everything was amazing. I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed myself here.

Showed up at 10:55 and were seated as soon as the restaurant opened at 11am. The restaurant has a nice rustic modern feel that is great for any time of day. I started with the Airmail to drink and my boyfriend had a bloody. My drink was delicious and pretty but the bloody was only sub par, I'd stick to their drink menu next time. We had the roasted beets and ricotta salata to start. This was a HUGE serving of beets but they weren't all that flavorful, I wish we had gotten the bruschetta. For brunch I had the prosciutto, asparagus and mozzarella scramble and my boyfriend had the Omelet. Both entrees were amazing, literally one of the best scrambles I've ever had!!! Service was great as well as the food!

The place is really funny and is perfect to eat something while drinking a good italian wine. The menu is mainly based on appetizers and pizza therefore don't expect a classical menu. The appetizers are good. Don't miss.

I find the best restaurants have everybody crossed trained with the customers just being taken care of by the closest person to them. Doesn’t matter their role or who’s “section” you are sitting in, it’s just one amazing cohesive experience... and that’s the way it should be. Hyper local neighborhood find - if I lived in SF I’d eat here all the time. Go for the meatballs and gnocchi to start.. share a salad and have a pizza or main. All delish!

Dined here on a busy Saturday evening in July and had a good experience. This may not be your place if you are looking for a basic pizza and salad type spot (not exactly a family style pizza joint but an upscale urban-hip feel to it). We liked their food offerings with some palate pleasing salads and thin crust pizzas. We had the roasted beet salad, the panzanella salad and three pizzas between 4 of us, the chorizo, the sausage and the funghi (mushroom) pizzas. The one small downside was only one IPA (one by Ballast Point) on the menu. For those craving a beer the choices may seem limited. Service was friendly enough and perhaps a tad slow but respectable for as busy as it was on a Saturday.

There are very few Mission area restaurants that have great cocktails, good food, and can handle a group of 9 people. Beretta is one of those few. We had reservations for 6pm which was when we were promptly seated at the back of the dining area. Our server was professional and answered several questions about the varied cocktails available. Each of us ordered a different drink which arrived before we had a chance to decide on the food. The runners were well trained and provided our server with great support. We chose to have several appetizers based on our servers suggestions. The meatballs are delicious with just a hint of heat. The charcuterie platter was a great way to taste the many meat options they have available. The eggplant with burrata was fresh and clean tasting. Our group then had three pizzas. The mushroom, the prosciutto and arugula, and the spicy meat. All were cooked to crispy crust and flavorful. We only ended with just a few pieces left for a carry away box. We never waited for our food and the staff was efficient and the whole experience was from start to finish wonderful.

The food was good, meat balls were great. Small joint, but nice. Prices not to bad. Couple of apps it's a nice light lunch.

Beretta has been around for awhile, but the standards of food, service, and ambiance are still going strong. Truffle pizza is a favorite, as are the eggplant burrata and so many of the cocktails :) Salads add lightness, and the seafood linguini was new to us this meal and delicious. Fantastic evening out.

Great atmosphere and cute little spot in the mission!! Great cocktails service & food. We sat at the bar and ordered had a great night!!! Little gem in San Fran!!

This is a classy little spot. Good food, nice cocktails. Perfect for couples and friends. Located in the mission- can't go wrong.

We called ahead an hour before for 5 people and got right in. The pizza was awesome, the spicy meatballs are a must! The trip advisor ratings were what lead us there, and it even exceeded our expectations.

Beretta is a very popular place. On a Saturday night, we waited an hour for dinner. But, it was well worth the wait. The food was excellent! We shared the appetizers and Hadi the truffle sweet potato fries, kale Caesar salad, (really great) and eggplant with Bugatti. We then shared a pizza (very good) and risotto (really, really good(. Its a fun neighborhood environment with an energetic vibe.

The main floor is a busy restaurant floor and nice bar with very happy-looking patrons. The bartender there on Sunday night was helpful and friendly. We were a large group of friends and we were put together on two djacenta tables in the basement. It was dark, but it was great atmosphere. There were perhaps three large groups seated down there after passing through the main floor. As we carefully walked down from there to our table, we were waited on very patiently by our server. We had some roasted caulifower appetizer and 5 pizzas at our table. I shared a vegetarian pizza (these all have a crunchy thin crust) with the vegan cheese. It was fabulously tasty. Everyone else loved their pizza and appetizer as well. the beer was good too. What a great find. I definitely would return here.

Had the squash and prosciutto pizza. Knockout. The grilled vegetable pizza was also good, but lacked a bit of punch. Excellent entrees (sardines) and very good drinks. Great atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

We went here after a less than amazing business dinner left us wanting more. Beretta delivered! Where to start - the kale caesar was great. The meatballs were delicious. Then we had the spicy meat pizza (forget the name) and the osso bucco risotto. OMG. All the food was amazing and the wine list, while not recognizable per se, thankfully had non-California selections. Service staff were very attentive and pleasant. Really not a foot put wrong anywhere, and I'll endure an uber ride to get here anytime I'm in town!

Love this place for late night dining. The center table is the spot to meet people at. Very social! The food is good, the drinks are slow.

Very busy restaurant, booking recommended. The place is very dark. this is one negative point, can hardly see the menu! However, the food is quality. We had meat balls, eggplants, burratta and gnocchi for starters, all very good. The pizzas were also very good. My favourite was the one with spinach and truffle cream.Very good spot for friday night drinks/dinner.

During a recent visit to SF we were searching for a restaurant were we could get a late night dinner, on a Sunday night. My 23 yr old daughter who I was traveling with, found this restaurant on Chowhound. We were tired and hungry when we arrived on the doorstep on August 19th at about 10:30pm. We were able to get a seat promptly at the communal table and Anna was our server. After explaining how hungry we were Anna was able to get our amazing cocktails and food quickly. I ordered the eggplant caponatina with burrata. It was truly amazing! We also ordered pizza's which hit the spot. Our thanks to Anna for her professional and compassionate service that night and to amazing and entertaining bar staff. We really enjoyed our here and will definitely stop by next time we are in town. I will agree with a few of the other comments below, it is dark so you will need the flashlight app and the stools are tricky for us mature folks.

Great for late night dining. Great Pizza and amazing cocktails. Always worth a stop, especially for late night options.

We went for a family dinner. Started with the appetizers..the walnut bread with pesto was good as well as the polenta balls, the salads were ok, We shared 3 Pizzas. The mushroom, a margarita and a sausage. The Pizzas crust was not very thick and quite tasty, the sauces and toppy seemed a little on the skimpy side. It was busy Thursday night and the place was noisy and hard to have a conversation.

A very pleasant Italian restaurant with food straight out of Italy. Has a cool New York vibe. It’s the food that makes the place. I had the pasta, salad, and fresh bread with high quality olive oil. The prices are reasonable and typical for San Francisco.

Picked up a couple at SFO and after a brief conversation decided to go to Beretta on Valencia in the Mission. Arrived at about 10:15 last night and it was packed but we got the last table in the corner near the kitchen. Turned out to be a great table as it was shielded a bit from the noise. Beretta turned out to be a very good choice, everything was well prepared and tasty. Ordered and shared, eggplant caponatina with burrata, meatballs in spicy tomato sauce, fried sweet potatoes with gorgonzola and parmesan dip, cauliflower with pangratatto, capers and sage, kale and romaine caesar with parmesan croutons. Along with some wine all the starters were very good, my favorites being the meatballs, cauliflower and sweet potato fries. Followed the starters with two pizzas, one being spicy Italian sausage, panna and green onions and the other suggested by our server, chorizo, tomato, Oaxaca cheese, cilantro. Both had excellent flavor and good chewy crust. I especially like what the simple addition of cilantro did for the chorizo pie, really pulled the flavors together. A large (and yummy) tiramisu and a chocolate gelato finished us off. Our server was friendly, helpful and efficient as the place was hopping. Beretta turned out to be a great choice for us, just be prepared to wait if you get there at the wrong time. No reservations but there is call ahead seating. They serve dinner till 1:00 am.

This place is phenomenal! We came here for a work team dinner and were all very impressed with the quality of service, food and price. When planning a dinner for a large group, many SF restaurants can't or won't accommodate; those that do will ask you for an exorbitant per person deposit etc. Beretta had a very modest request--it was roughly $45 per person. But wait, what did we get for that $45 per person? More food than anyone can plausibly eat without being stuffed! We got a sweet little prix fixe menu and I thought that each of us would get to choose which first/second/third course we got. But no, we actually just got ALL the courses for the table. This was five appetizers, several large, filling pizzas and two "main courses" of canneloni and risotto. Then there was dessert! Ok, the price is great, but how was the food? Absolutely amazing! Their olives are ridiculously delicious, I highly recommend this little snack. But the pizza is equally as yummy, with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options being available (vegan chorizo!) The tiramisu was so creamy and luscious I wish I could eat it every single day. Finally, the servers were great. We were a large party and had several special requests, like customizing menu options and even menu messaging, and they accommodated us every step of the way. We were able to secure a semi-private room in the basement, which mean that we were away from the noise of the bar and could make our own noise. Overall an amazing experience and I can't wait to come back!

Great Italian food in a lively atmosphere. This place greatly impressed we two visiting Brits! We had a great mix of dishes -service was excellent and staff very friendly and professional

I had a nice late-night dinner w friends. We shared the butternut squash cappellacci, linguini frutti di mare (has a spicy kick), roasted octopus potato & herb onion focaccia. Everything was over-the-top delicious. Ambience is hoppin' with music & friendly service.

The drinks were great. The food, not so great. So many fried dishes! Why fried? Because the food ain't so great. I was looking forward to the squid ink risotto and there was absolutely no flavor. I appreciate not over salting, but a little salt and garlic would have been a nice addition. The only decent dish was the walnut bread. This place is overrated.

This was the best food and drink we had in SF. The gnocchi was so good we had to order it twice. Perfect Italian food and great atmosphere.

OMG...best artisan pizzas, and small plates to share, best meatballs I have ever had, best bread, best dipping sauce. Loved it and fun, friendly, hip atmosphere on Valencia street in the MIssion.

This spot is nondescript. I actually walked right past it, but once finding the front door, I was pleasantly surprised. There's a nice bar and more tables than I anticipated, but expect a wait and plan to be cozy. By 8pm, we were struggling to hear each other and the line was 3-deep at the bar. The blackberry Mezcal cocktail was divine but took a solid 10 minutes to reach us. We tried all the things, but the artichoke/kale appetizer was my favorite. The fungus pizza is quite yummy, but I'm not sure it was anything unique. Definitely worth going, but think Happy Hour and apps, not dinner.

Great place for dinner. Trendy/cool vibe- I'm surprised that they let me in. It's a tight space without reservations for small groups. Fortunately, we were shoehorned into a small table without much of a wait on a Saturday night. We tried a bunch of appetizers- the meatballs and brussel sprouts were standouts. The zucchini parm and eggplant caponatina were very good. I wasn't feeling it with the gnocci, because the pancetta and other ingredients drowned out the pasta. The main dishes were primarily pizzas. We had two very good ones- the bartender's special and the 3 mushroom pies. All were enjoyed. There is a small number of risottos and a single entree per night. We didn't try any of them. The gelatos were killer- a great way to end the meal.

A fun place, food was good and will satisfy your hunger. This is not a foodie place. More of local rest. with comfort food. Friendly staff and lively atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere. Delicious, inventive cocktails. Food is great......try the Brussels sprouts and pizza. The warm fish appetizer is delicious. Definitely recommend!

My wife and I came here together on a Tuesday night and were very happy to see how bustling it was! It is a restaurant and bar and we had cocktails with dinner. The drinks and the food were fantastic and our server was very nice and attentive so we definitely didn't feel that we were forgotten about even though the place was so busy. Will absolutely be coming back!

Pizza and cocktails were great in this crowded hipster haven. While the price tag was fairly hefty, and the drinks took much too long to arrive, everything tasted fantastic. The staff is friendly. Definitely worth a trip.

We asked the concierge to find us a spot and The Beretta is what we chose. Great food. The pork chop was amazing! Great service. Fun atmosphere. "Community" seating different for us. We met some nice folks and had a fabulous evening.

By far one of the best cocktail joints in SFO! The Wind up Bird and Kentucky Mule were kickass. The food, especially the meatballs was out of the world.

We visited on a Friday night after reading great reviews, and managed to get a table one hour after walk-in. With a few cocktails in between, the service, food (and drinks) were amazing. Highly recommended the beef carpaccio, squid ink risotto and prosciutto pizza. As travellers from Australia and with an Italian heritage this restaurant stands amongst the top few experienced.

Love this bar- great cocktails, decor, service, vibe and crowd. A lazy Sunday afternoon slid by with cocktails from the main menu and the secret menu. We didn't eat but the food looked and smelled amazing. Highly recommend this great bar.

One of our favorite spots when we lived in SF years ago. We were excited to go back on a recent visit but also nervous it wouldn't be as outstanding as when we used to go. However, we were happily surprised that it was as good as ever. It's always been crowded but the bar is a decent size, so you can usually find a spot (either sitting or standing) to have cocktails until a space opens up. Interesting selection of cocktails and the food is top-notch. A favorite dish is the meatballs. Unfortunately, we left our bag of leftovers on the table and didn't realize until we got back to our hotel. Just another reason we will have to return :)

People swear by this place, but IMO, you can get better food with a much shorter wait time (1.5 hours for us!). We had the sweet potato fries with the gorgonzola dip. I hate gorgonzola, so got the chipotle aioli which is actually very good. Also the walnut bread (skip the burrata, but the bread is very good). Then the funghi pizza. And the house ginger soda and lemonade to drink. All good, but wait time is terrible. Skip it. There is better food, with shorter wait times in SF.

3 of us went here on a Friday night, and this place was packed. Tried to get a seat without a rezzie, and was told 2+ hours. Theres a reason this place is packed and its not pretentious at all. We sat, drank, ate and made new friends... all at the bar! No waiting and an even more intimate connection with this restaurant. The one super highlight in the food was the piquillo peppers with goat cheese & balsamico. Man! Whatever they do to these things sends your mouth on its own little adventure, and pair that with a wine or a negroni...I tell ya, your mouth is going places!!!

First of all if you are 6 or more make reservations. This place is so good it will be busy. For sure order pizza and have fun with the cocktail menu. Our sever Povi made everything no problem, and delivered everything just in time. What a great experience.

We went to Beretta for a wedding reception which was great because we got to eat a variety of different foods. Starting with appetizers, we got to try the olives, sweet potato fries, and a couple others that I can't remember. We also got to try the arugula and fennel salad which was okay, but not my favorite. This was followed by a margherita pizza and a meat pizza. These were both very good and I enjoyed the big clumps of cheese on the margherita one. Our main entree was a manicotti type of food. I didn't eat much of this as by this point we had already had so much food. But the couple of bites I ate were good! But, here's where things get really good: DESSERT. We got to try three different ones - tiramisu, bonet, and panna gelato. I was most looking forward to the tiramisu, but the panna gelato is hands down the BEST. It was maybe one of the best desserts I've ever had. The flavors were wonderful and I would go back to Beretta just to order that. Definitely give it a go if you stop by this place.

We went on a Wednesday and shared a pizza and the nightly special. Amazing food. Will return this week

My niece and I dined at Beretta's after a day of shopping along Valencia street. We happened in at the perfect time, right before the crowd. There were so many people trying to get in. Reservations are a must. They are very strict about seating. For example, if you sit at the bar to wait for a table, you can only have one starter and drinks. If you order more food than that or you order a pizza, you can't move to a reserved table, even if you waited. You have to commit to the situation. This was a bit awkward learning how much we could order before forfeiting our table in the dining area. You won't find traditional pizzas at Beretta's. They are unique. You'll just have to toss a coin and try a new one. The strategy of splitting a pizza between two choices won't work. They don't split pizza types since each pizza type has a "different cooking time". That said, the pizza we had was delicious and unique. We had the one with arugula (I don't remember the other ingredients) and added spicy coppa. Delicious! The vibe is contemporary and their music taste appealing. The vibe is classy and fun, but not too loud and overbearing. They have a long "community" table down the center where those without reservations dine which creates, well, more of a community than a compartmentalized environment. The prices are quite reasonable. The wine selection is average.

This may seem out of the way for visitors to SF, but it's worth the cab ride. Seriously fresh, farm-to-table appetizers, freshly made coal oven pizza and truly great drinks made with care... It does get crowded, but it's worth the wait and the servers and bartenders are friendly and know their stuff... I try to eat here every visit.

Doesnt take bookings A very busy place but we got a table within 30 minutes of arriving. Food was lovely. The gnocchi was a standout as was the grilled pork chop which was as good as I have ever had. Serving portions are very generous for the price considering the quality. Easy to recommend.

great cocktails, food never disappoints, not unreasonable in any aspect of the dining experience. A staple for mission-ites

My husband and I were looking for a late night spot to grab a decent meal at 11:30 pm on a Friday night. This was the perfect spot. The food was good. The service was great! The atmosphere was nice, dark, relaxing with upbeat music. We also ordered drinks from the bar, both were strong, mixed well. Definitely will return to this place.

We enjoyed the stuffed pepper appetizer. The kale and romaine Caesar salad was delicious. The spicy marinara pizza with pepperoncini and olives was out of this world. Very spicy and you won't even miss the cheese. The atmosphere has a cool vibe, but it does seem a little rushed. Would definitely go back.

Generous lunch portions. Nice tidy menu. Delicious coffee. Cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. What more could you want. Also a huge bathroom that is like a palace.

Brunch on a Monday Holiday (Presidents day in February of 2017). We agreed it was in memory of past Presidents like Lincoln, Washington, Hamilton and Obama. OK - back to the restaurant. Just OK, nothing special and I don't understand its big rating on "Eater SF". I won't be back and recommend that you skip Beretta in favor of many other really good, restaurants in SF.

My wife and I decided to try this place at the suggestion of some local friends. It was busy on a Tuesday which I took for a good sign. We were seated in the outside seating area which was just some tables set up on the sidewalk outside. Between the firetrucks passing within feet of out table and the crazy homeless man screaming obsenities on the opposite corner, I began to worry that this place wasn't going to be all it was cracked up to be The server was friendly enough, but not the most attentative. The menu was confusing at best. My wife is a professional chef and could not decipher what the different items on the menu were as there were no descriptions at all. The water that the server brought was served at room temperature with no ice. During the entire time we were there the server did not refill the water a single time even though our glasses were empty. I ordered the spicy Italian sausage pizza thinking it looked like a safe option in the myriad of unintelligible menu options. When it arrived I found that the "cheese" they use on their pizza is actually more of a watery cream so that when a slice is picked up it drips off the side causing the entire thing to become a soggy mess. Many bites of the sausage were filled with grissle and not edible and the green onions were inch long pieces of cheweyness that did not go well with anything. Overall, the experience was at best awful and at worse a taste of what Italian hell must be like. Avoid this place at all costs. There are many other places in the city where your money could be much better spent.

This is a good choice for fussy foodies. The ingredients are top notch and prepared with care and imagination. All delicious. Great wine choices. Lambrusco by the glass ! The gnocchi are light and delicate like they are supposed to be. Everything we tried was scrumptious. We went for brunch on a Sunday about 2:00 and had no problem getting seated. The wait staff is molto simpatico.

We got there just as it opened at 11 on a Sunday morning. Service was polite and prompt. We had the baked peppers stuffed with cheese and a side of fried sweet potatoes with a bubbling gorgonzola(?) dip. Both were quite good. The corner seat is great for people watching and by the time we left about 90 minutes later the place was hopping.

If you are looking for restaurant when most of the kitchens are closed in the city, this is the place! If is midnight and you think there are no more options besides your home, you are wrong. Very vivid place, full of people. better make reservations if you are with a large group.

Broad selection in antipasti sized dishes and personal sized pizzas with fish, meat, and veggie offerings in each. Especially enjoyed sweet potato fries, eggplant caponatina, and kale-romaine caesar as a vegetarian. Very popular sidewalk tables on side street off Valencia.

Lets start by saying I am very biased with pizza and Italian food growing up on the East Coast. I flew into San Francisco and arrived at 9:30pm. My ride picked me up and took me straight to this restaurant on a Thursday night so we could meet up with friends. The place was packed! I went to the bar and ordered a drink and they did not have the type of liquor i wanted so the bartender offered to make me a good drink. And a GREAT drink he delivered. So good I ordered another later on. When the 7 of us were seated we all ordered differant items off the menu and was able to sample a few things. All were actually tastey. Not the best pizza but I must say it wasnt horrible. Would definately come back and order the meatballs. Great atmosphere and our waitrous was great.

We arrived without a reservation at 5:45pm but we were seated immediately. The inside filled quickly, then the outdoor seating. We ordered 2 pizzas and the "Made by hand Ricotta and Kale Tortellini". One pizza was the "Bartender Special" and it was SPICY. (Though another on the menu claims to be spicy!). The second pizza was Prosciutto di Parma. It was rather bland (in comparison) but a nice foil to the other. The Tortelloni- wow! I had to ask our server for details, and he verified that it was in a red sauce. It also used browned butter- (if you've never tasted it, a treat!) and at $20, the tortelloni is gourmet bargain! It paired well with the Montepulciano red wine; also a bargain at $11 a glass. For dessert we shared the "Bonet-Chocolate" - gelato with Amaretto and some caramel. To die for. We'll be back.

Arrived on Sunday at 2 pm. Thank goodness they had outside seating as the nose level ( due to the loud music and voices trying to be heard over the music)was so loud if they did not have outside seating I would have left. Service was good as was the coffee. My partner had the Pancetta omelet and I had the sausage hash with eggs. The very was VERY HOT served in HOT plates. VERY NICE as your food did not get cold halfway through the meal. We were asked if we wanted desert ( never do) but I said could we look at the menu. We decided to have Tiramisu. OMG!!!! it was like sent from above. So light it melted in your mouth!!! OUTSTANDING!!! And the portion was more than enough for two people. Service was good Seating is on the side of the restaurant outside so I was able to see MANY UBER and LIFT drivers stop in the middle of the street ( one lane in each lane) and block traffic to pick and drop off people. They are worse then the taxi drivers they displace. Especially when the entire time the curb side was empty.

LOVE this place for great cocktails, a quick bite or a full meal. No reservations at night, but you can call one hour ahead and be added to the wait list- definitely recommend this. Still great, even standing at the bar

This is the second time my friend and I have been to Beretta and although it might not be a great destination for a lingering date given that it's seemingly always packed but for pizza and cocktails, perhaps after an afternoon of shopping or sightseeing, it's hard to beat. The pizzas are very tasty as are the appetizers, especially the meatballs.

We were a group of 8 friends gathering to celebrate a birthday. The food was delicious and more than ample. We tried several kinds of pizza, a caesar salad- a huge salad loaded with yummy cheese, the hash, sthe cheese bread pudding with greens and fried eggs- which was wonderful. The service was terrific.

I had heard great things about this restaurant, more from people who dined out in the Mission than from people who have a big passion for Italian food. To provide you bias/perspective, I cook a lot of Italian food at home and love to try new Italian-inspired restaurants wherever I go. The antipasti were "ok." We had the Chicken liver crostini, a Brussel sprouts dish and a broccolini dish. The Brussel sprouts were the best but this is a very standard construction that I've had out too. The Chicken liver were interesting but presentation was bland and the Broccolini was really just too basic. We both had Risottos (I had the Osso Bucco and my friend had the fungi and truffled panna). My Saffron risotto was prepared well but the Osso Bucco was again, just ok. I tasted my friends' dish and had order envy as his was presented more interestingly and had a great taste. The cocktails were the highlight of the restaurant experience but great mixology should be "in addition" to a great meal, not the most memorable. The bill for two for the three antipastos, 2 entrees and drinks (3 pre-dinner cocktails, a glass of wine and an after-dinner drink) came to about $130. This is about average (perhaps a bit more than average) for higher-end Italian in SF but just feel that there are too many better dining Italian-inspired experiences for the same amount of money to rate this as anything more than "Average."

We got the margherita pizza: the sauce was a little herb-heavy and there was slightly too much of it for me, but I loved the beautiful crust and super fresh ingredients. Also we got the crispy asparagus (cornmeal-crusted) with caper aioli and walnut bread with burrata, honey, and truffle oil. Delicious! Don't forget to try the homemade super-gingery soda too.

We had dinner here and the whole thing wasn't bad, but pretty underwhelming. It's italian food served up tapas style and you know what that means: $$$! Nothing was incredibly amazing. I mean it was good italian food but nothing you can't find around town for a third of the price.

If you ever need to make last minute dining in The Mission this place is perfect. Just call and put your name on the list. There is not an exact wait time, first come first served. Pizza is great, their sauce is stellar. The meatballs are a must!

I would not have chosen here for dinner with clients, but it ended up being perfect. We were a table of 8 and sat downstairs where it was quieter. The food was amazing and the service very attentive. Good experience and would come back.

Went to Beretta somewhat early on a Friday night, and the place was already packed. Since they don't take reservations for small parties, you can save time by calling ahead and getting your name on the list. The cocktails we had were absolutely delicious and the small places and pizza were perfect for sharing among friends. Every dish we had was very good - and the atmosphere is quite lively and fun.

We arrived 3 families (6 adults, 7 kids) during lunch hour and were seated fairly quickly after 10 min of waiting. There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant. We've ordered multiple dishes including Pizzas, Lamb Tenderloin, Polenta, Meatballs, everything was tasty. The Focaccia bread is amazing.

We were at the Divisadero, the pizza was glorious, aspargus was good, squid ink was also very filling, and the walnut bread burrata was the highlight. We ordered an extra round!

Beretta is a go-to venue for good food, great cocktails and lots of youthful locals having a good time. Some of their staples like meatballs or walnut bread with burrata & truffle oil are good for lunch, dinner, or bar snacks. The pizza is always good. Peak times like weekend nights and brunch are crazy but off times, you can drop in and grab a stool no problem.

A trendy atmosphere and crowd. It can get a bit busy but have always been seated after having a little patience. The menu is quite simple but I love the pizzas and the veggie side dishes even more. Really delicious flavors. Fun and classic cocktail menu.

Great vibe, bustling - make sure to plan your visit ahead, we went early and put our name down though you could probably book. Good by-the-glass wines. We were recommended the Eggplant Caponatina with Buratta which was excellent. Also had the Lamb cutlets and a pizza - everything excellent. Would go back.

i moved to mexico city five years ago and recently have to return to SF for work. so, i have been revisiting old haunts. i used to eat here a lot. sit at the bar and have a pizza and a couple nice cocktails and chill. so, i tried that this time. food was great the reception? not so much. it wasnt very welcoming. kind of disappointed with the attitude. i guess i wont be returning.

I met a local friend here just before 7pm on a Wednesday night. We decided to sit at the bar rather than get a table. We shared some apps and the standouts were the meatballs & the walnut bread (made in-house I believe) with truffle mushrooms & burrata cheese. Yum! We later ordered a pizza which was just ok. The bartenders were very friendly and created a couple of off menu concoctions for us which were delish and of course they have their own signature cocktails on offer as well. The place filled up quickly so I would recommend going early in order to grab a table or seats at the bar.

We love to share dishes so we can all taste a bit of everything and this is an excellent place to do that. The Piqueno pepper stuffed with cheese was the favorite followed closely by the lamb chop and meatballs. Pizza and Carpaccio were also good- salad just ok. We had a rambunctious 3 year old with us and this is NOT a great place for that. Service was a bit spotty but good made up for it

Recommended by a friend, this cozy neighborhood restaurant offered tasty Italian food. Service was also great!

Great pizza and plenty of other good small plates. This place gets really busy - so sometimes there is a wait for a table. Great bar as well.

Busy but worth the wait to eat authentic Italian. Solid service from people that care about food and the dining experience. They know the ingredients, the preparation and can speak intelligently about the menu. Sets them apart from other "trendy" places.

Amazing!!!!!!!! We ordered the Caesar Salad, eggplant with beretta and prosciutto pizza! We also order two Kentucky Mule drinks! We wanted to like the plates, seriously you can't go wrong!

Went to the restaurant on a Friday night, was disappointed, but had a laugh about it. As the place does not take reservations for small parties, it took us approximately one hour to be seated, which seems to be standard for popular places on a weekend night. During such wait, as we waited for the text letting us know our table was ready, we went to a “quiet” bar nearby to have a drink and ended witnessing one of the patrons having a meltdown and being kicked out. Peaceful seems to take another meaning in the Mission district. Once we were finally seated at Beretta the overall experience can be summed up underwhelming at best. Customers and waiters could be stand-ins for the cast of Girls. Our waiter resembled Adam Driver. His temperament was closer to that of Driver’s role in Star Wars, with the character’s aloofness but none of the power, and not good traits for a waiter. It took 15 minutes for my wife to get his attention to order another ginger ale and then another 25 minutes for him to deliver it. Even getting the check took some time, which is strange as people prefer to get paid sooner rather than later. Bottom line, the service was bad enough to verge on comical. The food varied from plain awful (Fritto Misto) to decent (pizzas). Getting our pizzas took about 50 minutes, which added to the annoyance. The lady seated next to me considered deodorant optional. Luckily for me, from the odor, she only went for a spirited walk and not for a full out jog before dinner. This did not add to the overall experience. The music was very loud so the place is not conducive to much conversation. Overall would recommend you stay (very) far from this place or best of luck.

We ordered one pizza since it was so good we had to order another... Both pizzas were delicious. We tried 4 different cocktails and all of them were interesting and tasty. We will definitely go back to Beretta when we are in SF again!

We came here for dinner and were fortunate enough to get a seat at the bar. Such great ambience and atmosphere at this restaurant. The cocktails were amazing too. For food, the walnut bread and spicy meatballs were top notch. We weren't impressed by the gnocchi. It seemed dry and overdone. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the food and cocktails. I would love to try more on the menu.

First let me say we tried their restaurant @ 661 Divisdero, SF. I don't see that location on Trip Advisor. First time here 1/10/24 for happy hour. A little daunting at first, as there were not customers @ 5:29 PM. But we, my friend and I tend to enjoy an early meal and it was "Happy Hour" and we were happy they were open on a cold rainy night. Our server George was wonderful and so engaging and made great suggestions. We started w/the HH Red Wine ($8) quite delicious really. Next up Calamari which was FANTASTIC ($16). Left us wanting more. Also the HH Prosciutto pizza which was lovely and Hot out of the oven. Prices jump considerably once HH our over. But I will be back and have no issue w/being a single female diner. Check it out, I don't believe you will be disappointed. When we left a good 1.5 hours later, the restaurant was filling up nicely. Grateful they are within walking distance of my home.

We arrived knowing that there would be a long wait. The atmosphere was so great, lively, inviting. We managed to grab a table at the bar, and were so pleased with the awesome bartender. He gave perfect recommendations for food, drink, everything. The food was insane, best pizza I have ever had possibly. Would return

This is a very nice place with goo variety of Italian food. Very lively place with good bar and cocktails. We ordered several plates for the 4 of us and shared them family style. This was a good way to try some different dishes. The Osso Bucco risotto and the gnocchi were fabulous.

The risotto with squid ink was absolutely phenomenal! It had a nice ambiance - very intimate and wasn't noisy so it's a great place to catch up with a friend or significant other. Will be coming back for sure!

I'd suggest getting here and grabbing drinks and enjoying the scene rather than waiting for a table!

This was the first restaurant we visited in SF and would definitely go back! They made us a custom pizza not off the menu, Which was amazing! I had the cannelloni, which I would definitely recommend! Very welcoming, highly recommend!

Not many places are open late, well, at least not with good food and aweome drinks. We arrived at midnight and our host was very accomodating in making sure that our entire party was sat next to eachother. The amibient was relaxed and not very noisy. Our drinks were delicious! We all ordered different drinks and neaither of them dissapointed. Pizzas were amazing! It's the perfect place at any time of day. Definately on our list for good drinks and pizza :)

First off, the food here is great. Ive eaten here many times and brought two friends to introduce to Beretta in December. We came early and ordered a LOT. Waiter was very attentive. As we neared completion of our meal he asked us if we could move to the bar area (which was packed) for a drink. It took us a few seconds to realize he was asking us to vacate our table so he could seat a new group. This was approx 90 minutes into the meal, no dessert menu offered, no coffee ordered. Plates had just been picked up. SHOCKING is all I can say. First time time EVER I have been asked to leave a table. how incredibly rude. A few minutes later as we were discussing this, he came back and said we could stay! We left. I couldn't believe the excited "thumbs up" gesture the hostess gave him as we exited. They got their table. I can see how a restaurant might overbook and get in a jam, but Baretta doesn't take reservations for less than 6 people, and as we were at a table for 4 it wasn't apparent to me why we were pushed out. In SF I expect 2hrs at a table for a nice $200 plus dinner out.

where do i start? we were recommended beretta by a friend, but it wasn't a priority, and then, we just stumbled upon it and we couldn't have been more delighted. ricky was our bartender and he was awesome. super nice, great, humble service. they have some killer wine vintages available by the glass and a nice cocktail list. we shared a spicy meat party pizza with gorgonzola added and it was divine. the prices were fair, the food was good, the drinks were good, the service was good... we can't wait to go back in june. thanks, ricky!

The food is on par with the excellent playlists in this permanent embassy of The Walkmen. Viva le gnocchi a la pancetta!

This place is teeming with excited folks who are happy to be there. Best margarita I have ever had. Nothing complicated with the added stuff. Just simple fresh and the best. Pizzas, salads and the risotto were excellent. It was great to call an hour ahead and walk in and be seated. I suggest going early and walk Valencia St. for the afternoon then eat here. Great shopping and people watching.

This place is hopping. First impression is that it's trendy and everybody knows everybody. We came here around 715 and they said it would be an hour wait. we said ok and sat at the bar. In 30 mins she said our table was ready. good thing cause I was starving. I started out with the meatballs. They were very, very good. Then I had the kale Caesar salad. Also great. Then I had sausage pizza, OMG soooo good. Its loud here and busy, but definitely worth it. The staff is great also, very informative on what you should try. Great job. If ever in San Francisco again I will definitely be back.

Stopped with my wife on our honeymoon. Had the Caesar salad, meatballs and fried cauliflower. Everything was delicious. Didn't have the pizza but it looked amazing.

This place is very delicious and has a great atmosphere for a date of a dinner with friends. If you go early, you can get a spot at the communal table for happy hour. If you go for dinner, be prepared for an hour wait, or make a reservation.

Got there at 5.30 pm for an early bite. By the time we left it was crazy busy. OK selection of wines by the glass. Large selection of small plates. The roasted beets and ricotta was excellent. The tomato salad less so with quite a few less than fully ripe toms in the mix. The Wednesday special of pork chop was very large, very tasty with all sorts of dried fruits - a good hearty meat dish. Efficient friendly service.

I have to say that even though they were hospitable enough to sneak us in on a Saturday night at the last minute, I was underwhelmed by the food. The pizza were absolutely nothing special and the drinks, although tasty, were quite weak. For the price we paid, there should've been a decent pour involved. For what we ordered, the bill was a bit shocking. I could not see myself racing back.

The food at this place was pretty good...specially the burrata. The one amazing thing about this place are the cocktails. All the ones that we tried where amazing!!!! The place is always pretty full so be ready to wait.

This is definitely the best bar for great cocktails in town. Awesome takes on whiskey classics. Come early...it fills up!

We came for dinner and had the daily main and a pizza. Both dishes were excellent. The pizza was very close to the real Italian thing. The place was rather full on a Monday night. Even though the servers where swhirling around, it wasn't hectic. Friendly service. Our server was quite knowledgeable on the details of the dishes. The clientele was hip but not too hip. Good music! Beretta has a great atmosphere, maybe because the staff interact very positive with the guests and among themselves.

Despite the nightmare of trying to find parking here, we made it on time for our reservation. We opted to sit outside - they had heat lamps so it was perfect. We ordered a mushroom risotto and a pizza. Both were great but the risotto was the table favorite. The waitress was fantastic - friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and able to make great drink recommendations. Only negative wa that the people next to us brought their large-breed dog an I was smacked by a wagging tail for the majority of the supper.

One of my go-tos in San Fran! Always have a great night here. The food is consistently good. The first time I came here was about 7 years ago and my most recent visit last month reaffirmed why I fell in Love the first time. I have been many times in between and the food and drink is why I'm always coming back! Great cocktail list too! The food is all shareable. They make fantastic pizzas with inventive toppings mixed with classic favs. The squash pizza we had was so fall inspired it knocked out socks off. The burrata is always a home run. Stuffed paquillo peppers with goat cheese and balsamic reduction is an unsung hero. And you can't go wrong with the meatballs. Honestly, it's all so damn good. Can't wait for another visit.

Love this place. Their burrata cheese pizza is so amazingly good. And their meatballs are the perfect savory appetizer. Cocktails here are delicious too. Beretta is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. It can get crowded in the evenings but here's a little pro-tip: drop by for weekend brunch and, for some reason, the wait is not that bad.

Was here as part of a mini conference, so our party of roughly 40 had a reserved room. I feel like we went downstairs to our private room which added to the quaint and unique nature of the experience. But the most remarkable thing was the pizza. Just wonderful. Drinks were poured well and fun had by all. This place loves up to its reputation

This place has a great atmosphere, and seems to always be packed (I've been here a few times in the last months). At least one of their bartenders is an award winning cocktail mixer (look up at the rafters for proof), and you can taste it in their drinks. All the pizzas I've had here have very good taste combinations on thin crispy crusts. All over, this place is well worth a visit.

Went to San Francisco for a five day trip and went here 3 times. So great, the food and drinks were out of this world!

Excellent, thin crust pizzas. Lovely dry cava. Especially nice for British people to sit outside in April, under a heater, and watch the world go by. Friendly service, too.

We went for a late dinner after a long flight and we were not disappointed. There was a 45min wait for a table so we sat outside next to the heater. The truffle and cheese on walnut bread and sweet potato fries with gorgonzola were incredible. Our pizzas were equally delicious and definitely hit the spot! We ordered the hot one, truffle and spinach, chorizo and goats cheese pizzas. Our waitress was extremely friendly and advised us well on our choices.
Good Italian everything!
A very popular place and once you try the food you will know why. The Antipasti, Pizzas the risotto and the the Pastas are all very tasty and served using fresh ingredients and produce. try the Short Ribs.
