A Great European Bistro

By Marsh1058 |

We are so fortunate to have Bethany's Table in our neighborhood! Janet and David make every experience memorable. With a very fine wine selection and intimate bistro seating, Bethany's Table offers fresh and locally-sourced cuisine that is delectable and reasonably priced. Always a good choice for lunch, Bethany's Table is an excellent choice for intimate dinners as well. The spicy prawns and polenta are outstanding, as is the paella. If you want paella, just find a partner, or more, since it begins at "paella for two." Dave has begun to bake the house bread, and it is a triumph, perhaps the closest thing to the renowned Swiss Burli Brot this side of Basel. All of this can be accompanied by your choice from the house's extensive and finely-chosen wine list. When the dessert menu arrives, go no further than the chocolate truffle cake: "chocolate truffle cake with salted caramel, chocolate covered cocoa nibs and house-made espresso ice cream in an edible cup." Divine. And if this were all not enough, Janet and Dave love having children in their restaurant and maintain a remarkable selection of toys and games to keep the little one's amused and absorbed throughout the evening. Finally, Bethany's Table takes great care in preparing and serving nut-free dishes to those who are allergic. Bethany's Table comes with the highest possible recommendation.

Just Ok

By Hanaho1954 |

Heard a lot about Bethany's Table. We went to Sunday brunch. We found it to be ok but nothing we feel we need to rush back to for another meal. The service was good but the food was average. Sorry not much more to say just wasn't very impressed.

Good food, high extra fees

By Passport25669007197 |

Good food and service. Ordered family style salad for two and was still charged for two individual plates. Unfortunately, added fees are lame. 2% fee to cover employees health insurance and to help offset owners 70% responsibility. 3.5% fee if you use a credit card, this option is to make it convenient for the customer. I run credit cards and the most I am charged is 3% per transaction and that is if I put the number in without the customer present. If I run the actual physical card the fee is around 1%. Last negative was $45 dollars for a glass of bourbon that costs 68 dollars. Understand mark ups on alcohol but that seemed a bit much.

Great Happy Hour but never go here for a special event such as a fixed menu

By Mike L |

My wife & I live in Bethany, Oregon & this place is very close to our house. We have gone in here a few times for Happy Hour and are always pleasantly surprised with the food menu & amazing wines. We decided to go here for a Valentines Day fixed menu with wine pairing & what a mess...... We were seated at 4:30pm and were the very first people in here and the service was great. They brought the first few fixed menu items out very quickly & were fast to fill up our wine glasses. As soon as more customers started the restaurant we noticed the service drastically dropped off. It was blatantly obvious they could not keep up.The couple next to us sat for a full 45 minutes without anyone even bringing them a drink! You could tell tension was getting high which sux because this is supposed to be a romantic deal. My wife & I waited over an hour for our main course & not one person stopped by to offer us a drink which takes 2 seconds???? This was not a cheap dinner either, so if you are paying good money, you would expect great service right. Not the case here. I asked 2 people where our dinner was & could we at least get a glass of wine while we wait. Finally some guy come out & poured us some port & explained we should have given them at least 2.5 hours for a fixed dinner menu. The food was overpriced, small and decent at best. We will never go back here, especially considering there are hundreds of amazing well priced restaurants in PDX.

outstanding restaurant

By William L |

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in the Beaverton/Bethany area. Convenient location Not overcrowded. Tables are far enough apart so that you can easily hear what the people at your table are saying and not hearing what people at nearby tables are saying. Comfortable seating. Very knowledgeable and pleasant waiters and waitresses Excellent food with great recipes. The Cioppino seafood stew is the best in the Portland area: it’s served in a broth, not overwhelmed with tomato paste which can overwhelm the flavors of the seafood. The crostini are not slathered with cheese and other sauces. The bar mixologist is vey good. i had a unique berry and mint leaves cocktail that left my palette feeling fresh. The bread is the best restaurant bread in Portland. Baked on the premises. exhibits the crust only found in Greek bread. like the Dos Equis beer ad years ago, “i don’t often eat restaurant bread, but when i do, its Bethany’s Table.

Great food, long wait

By TMWpdx |

The food at Bethany’s Table gets five stars from us. The wait, however, drops it by a star. We finally asked that our order be taken after waiting about 20 minutes and it was over an hour before we got our lunch. We understand that we got there during the lunch hour and that restaurants are short staffed and we were patient but a little acknowledgment that we were seen and our food was coming would have gone a long way. If you’re eating during off hours then definitely go for it. Otherwise, just make sure you have plenty of time.

Delicious Birthday Lunch

By Betty F |

Shared an afternoon with my sister-in-law celebrating her birthday and enjoying great conversation. We both had the daily special of dungeness crab melt on crispy bread with a hearty mixed green salad. The crab was plentiful, fresh and beautifully combined with celery and herbs, topped with a light melted cheese and fresh avacado. We ended with desserts - apple cake (somewhat dry) and ginger bread pudding (absolutely delicious). The service was prompt, courteous and very accommodating. We'll both be back again

Always a great selection of specials. Warm and inviting atmosphere, a nice blend of family friendly plus gourmet class food. Always friendly service. Delicious tomato basil bisque, and the frittatas are tops.

Fantastic! Best lunch and dinner I've had in ages.

By Laurie P |

I had never been to Bethany's Table before and had a business meeting there for lunch. Prices were very reasonable and a surprisingly excellent array of choices (entrees, sandwiches, salads, pasta and more). First, the handmade bread is spectacular! Crusty and served with salted butter. YUM. I loved the Caesar salad appetizer followed by Vongole. The dessert was a butterscotch pudding with homemade peanut brittle. One of the best desserts I've ever tasted. I loved this restaurant so much that I went back for dinner. Steak bites with horseradish, then the bone-in porkchop with succulent fresh vegetables..all perfectly seasoned and cooked. The food is the perfect blend of classic choices, elegant gourmet, and delicious. The owners/chefs (Janet and David) are terrific. I would go back again and again and again.

Nice ambiance but so-so food

By Forcrane |

We ate at this restaurant for the first time a few weekends ago. Family owned and family run with a friendly, welcoming ambiance. The food was good but the cooking amateurish. Best dish was a butter lettuce salad with a slice of Humboldt Fog cheese. As others have noted, there aren't many choices in this area for non-chain dining so this is probably a good choice if you want an evening out without having to drive into town.

March Dining in PDX 2018

By Shrinkme |

We loved it! Set menu with a few choices for each course and everything was wonderful We were a little concerned given the location in suburbia - like surroundings however the food and services made up for it ! Owners cane by the table as chatted and joked about the location, server called it Whosville - so here is the scoop, if you are an inner city snob, steer clear and if you are looking for warm atmosphere and delicious food, stop by. Wine selection good, chicken Marsala So yummy - only complaint was not enough sauce! Prawns and polenta delish. Dessert so good just the right amount and not too sweet. The one thing they should bank on is - they make EVERYTHING - owners advertise this! We did not take any food pix but plates were empty.

Good food horrible service

By Gmickers11661 |

I have been to this Resturant several times, as there is little good food in Beaverton. The owners use fresh ingredients and have a imaginative menu. With that said after the last visit I will not likely go back. It took 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me and that was after I plugged the waiter down to get help. After 10 minutes more he flops downs menu's and does not ask me if I want anything to drink. Finally a lady comes and I give her my food and drink order as I am not sure i will see her again. 20 minutes later still no food. I ordered a BLT. I paid for my drink and left. I have let the owners knw and hope they do something or it will not last.

Excellent family-style wine dinner

By davidcstewart |

I attended a winemaker's dinner at Bethany's Table, so it was a little different than a run-of-the-mill meal. The courses were picked to complement the specific wines which would be served, and they succeeded well. The first course included pate, sliced meats, cheese and nuts paired with a new Rose being launched by the winery (Thistle). The next course was a salad with corn and shrimp with Pinot Gris, then a ravioli with lobster and cauliflower with Chardonnay, final course was a risotto paired with Thistle's 2010 Pinot Noir. There was also a dessert course served with a 2005 Thistle Pinot Noir, which I skipped. The food was outstanding (although the risotto was a little more set up than I usually prefer). The restaurant's owner was quite personable and spent time talking with various folks. I would absolutely consider coming back for a regular meal.

Neighborhood gem

By BVJulia |

I frequent Bethany's Table when I'm in Portland visiting my dad who lives nearby. This particular area of Portland/Beaverton is dominated by chains, so I especially appreciate Bethany's Table. The menu is innovative and the food is prepared with care. Sometimes my dad and I will just get the Pantry Board (prosciutto wrapped dates!) and a glass of wine and that's a lovely light meal. The only downside we've experienced is the restaurant can get quite loud, especially since they often have large tables of business groups. But other than that it's a great option in an otherwise challenged dining district.

came back and had a great dinner experience

By Steve A |

we've eaten here before and written a review that reflected our experience at that time. this visit was much different. of course we did go earlier and i believe the service was provided by one of the owners. i have to admit we haven't been treated that nicely and promptly ever. at the same time there was no effort to rush us out. the food was delicious as we both had different chicken dishes and and was the best chicken either of us could remember. We'll be back.

4.5 - Color me surpised in the suburbs!

By TheRealPhilGold |

Living in the ‘burbs means that we’ve got a ton of chain restaurants, some good pub food and great ethnic food, but not much in the way of fine dining. We’ve heard about this place over the last few years, and finally decided to suspend disbelief and give it a try. FINDING it was a little tricky – they don’t actually have a sign that’s visible from the street. However, once we walked in we were immediately intrigued. The ambiance is relaxed bistro, with a small retail wine area attached. And, it smelled really good! The menu is well-rounded, with the ability to build custom tapas-like “boards” for shared (or not) appetizers. We opted for a threesome of Castelvetrano olives, a baked Taleggio cheese, and some excellent homemade pork rillettes. There we enough other good-looking things listed that one could easily make an entire meal of appetizers, but that would mean missing out on the fantastic main dishes … on our table was a beef tenderloin Stroganoff and one of the evening’s specials, a rabbit ragu that had been braising for days, both with perfectly cooked homemade pasta. Flavors were delicious, and portions large enough that both of us had a bit left over for later. The only slightly off note was dessert – we shared what was billed as a coconut panna cotta. It was tasty, but the consistency was a bit runny – I don’t think I’d call it panna cotta, maybe coconut milk pudding would have been a better description, but that’s just me being pedantic. The service throughout was friendly, efficient, and well-informed. Our waiter is evidently very involved in the restaurant’s very good wine program, and was extremely knowledgeable about the wines on offer. I saw a number of old friends on the wine list, and some interesting things to try on future visits, because we most assuredly will be returning! Note: we were told the owners are opening a 2nd location soon, also in the Westside. Additionally, the current spot will be closed for a couple of months when that restaurant opens, because they are expanding to take in the storefront next door. Hopefully, this growth won’t affect their ability to deliver one of the best dining experiences outside of downtown PDX.

Wonderful meal

By S RC Rowdey |

We have been to Bethany's Table twice now, once for Valentine's Day and then yesterday evening for a birthday meal. Both times the food has been exceptional. We love the French and European influence the chef puts on local fresh ingredients. The attentive and informative wait staff are terrific. The atmosphere is lovely. The wine selection outstanding. The bar staff know how to mix a great drink correctly. parking is also very good. I have nothing bad to say.

Rainy Day Comfort

By J B |

We were visiting family in Portland hungry for lunch when they suggested Bethany's Table. It was a usual cold and rainy day in Portland and Bethany's Table was a wonderful place to warm up the soul with a fantastic cup of tomato basil soup and a grilled cheese sandwich that was out of this world, literally melted in your mouth. My husband had the mussels and kept asking for more bread so as not to leave behind any of the savory broth. There was not a disappointing meal on the table for the entire group. The restaurant is small but we had no problem being seated as we went after the lunch crowd had left. Our service was good and our waitress very friendly. We will definitely go back the next time we are in Portland.

So glad you are nearby

By Daryl B |

We are so glad BT is in our neighborhood. We had a great meal (short ribs, lamb soup, sweet potato fries !!!). Everything perfect... easy order and pick up...and a succulent meal at home. Thanks.

Fantastic Food BUT the owners dog runs free in the restaurant

By Got2Go5157 |

My husband and I have enjoyed Bethany's Table many times but will not dine there in the future. The food is outstanding but the owner's non-service dog running in and out of the kitchen and under the dining tables while guests eat, not allowed by restaurant health codes, is not the environment I want to dine in.

As usual, we will return

By DickandMary R |

Normally, I am more than impressed with them. We have been going for at least 8 years, but this time something was lacking. Was it the attention, the noise level, and or food, I am not. First, they knew it was my wife’s birthday, but that was not recognized. However, table service was excellent. I know that David and Janet are trying to recover from the pandemic, but it seemed that tables were too crowded. A normal conversation was very difficult. Finally, I would. start with the excellence of the food. Portion were good and every thing well paced. However, entrées were the problem. My wife’s crab pasta was too spicy. My ahi tuna got lost in the accompaniments, The last time I had the tuna, I told Janet it’s preparation made it the star. This was the best dish I ever had. The bread board was. excellent as usual. The curried cauliflower remains a signature dish. Dates wrapped with prosciutto and marcona almonds and apples filled out the three items. Their butterscotch pudding is, as always, very smooth.

Great Casual Dining in Beaverton Oregon

By Douglas T |

Five of us came for dinner Thursday evening. The restaurant was not very busy, so our service was good. Food is very interesting. Wine list pretty good and inexpensive. We had, among other things, the burger, the spicy shrimp over polenta, the caprese salad and the Chicken Marsala. Also, we had the soup of the day which was an excellent fresh tomato soup. Everything was good. I recommend the Spanish Coffee if you are into that kind of thing. A good dessert in and of itself. The Hot Toddy satisfied my daughter. One other dessert was yummy as well. A great medium priced meal. Maybe not up to foody level, but quite good.

Unpretentious

Food is fantastic, delicious cheese plate, and my cocktail was very good. Small restaurant with a good selection of wines and great service. Highly recommended.

Best homemade bread in town and now the rest of the story

By Mark A |

I don't give out many 5 ratings but this is one! Everything is home made even the spaghetti for their pasta. It is scrumptiously delicious! Been back there twice in 5 days. Everything is excellent and they even customized my salad. It is family owned and run. Service great and good wine selection!. They have craft and regular beers at reasonable prices. But it is about the meal. Here is another reason I gave it a rating of five. Their menu has a good commination of vegetarian, fish, poultry, pork and red meat. Not a huge menu, just a menu done right! Oh about the bread, well it was so good that I went back after my first night just to buy a loaf for a meal at home. Fortunately they had one but they prefer that you order their bread with one day notice if your not eating there. .

Almost Great!

By Jesus T |

Good place, we enjoyed a Friday evening dinner here. Excellent food, Crab Pasta, Short Rib Ragú, Lamb...all delicious. Very nice wine list. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is the service. Not the most attentive.

Five Star Dining in a Neighborhood Setting

By DewPortland |

A locally owned and operated white table cloth restaurant where the owner greets you at the door before retreating to the kitchen to prepare the days specials. A blackboard at the door informs guests of the fresh, sustainable entrees being offered that day. A superb wine and beer list compliments one's choice. The menu changes often but always include both meats and fish choices. The wait staff if knowledgeable and attentive. This has become our favorite "go to" restaurant.

Charming Spot for Special, Healthy Lunch

By DonnaPortlandOR |

I enjoyed a light lunch here with my sister and daughter recently following a mani-pedi girls outing, and couldn't have been happier. Everything was tasty and well presented, and service was great. We all tried the same soup of three offered, Tomato Basil, and agreed it was very good. One of us had half a featured panini with squash and humus, and we each had a different side salad, including a cesar with fresh shaved parmesan; a smokey rogue salad with large hazelnuts, bluecheese and apples (my favorite!); and a basic house salad with balsamic vinaigrette. We did not opt for dessert, but were impressed with the offerings, and would be tempted to try some or or perhaps a glass of dessert wine another time. We will undoubtedly be back.

Lovely, innovative meal ~ An oasis in our part of town!

By Lisa C |

We've visited Bethany's Table twice now, and have been very satisfied with the innovative quality of the cuisine. That means in our neck of the woods, where too many restaurants are of the chain or pub variety, we will definitely be returning when we want something "a cut above." The bread was delicious -- crusty on the outside, tender inside - just as it should be. The Dover sole special was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and on one occasion I ordered several of the pantry board "appetizers" which constituted a very satisfying meal in itself. (I'm not normally a fan of cauliflower, but their curry aioli cauliflower could make me a believer!) During both of our visits, the place was busy, but not so noisy that we couldn't carry on normal conversation. Service was friendly and attentive.

A hidden gem

By Ken M |

I lived less than a mile away from this restaurant for over 10 years, but never gave it a try... moved away, but return to the area monthly for business... so, looking for something new to try with 5 business associates decided to give it a try... Home Run! Halibut, steak, chicken, dessert, drinks, it was all excellent, service maybe slightly slow, but the food was really good. Every entree, every dessert, excellent. I will be back next month.

Dinner with colleagues - good wine at least

By Chi-charter_cruiser |

Had dinner with about six colleagues and generally enjoyed the evening. Good wine list, which we enjoyed. The food was fair, but nothing to write home about.

Very nice farm to table

By George Y |

Bethany’s Table is located in the middle of the village of quaint Bethany in metro Portland. The community is a nice place to spend some time and explore the shops and Bethany’s Table fits right in. This is an upscale Bistro with a complete Farm to Table menu selection of locally sourced meats and vegetables. Our party enjoyed Halibut, top sirloin, chicken Marsala and risotto. We also enjoyed a great berries, cream and shortcake dessert. Very capable service makes dining there a pleasure. They have a nice selection of Oregon wines as well as those from further afield.

Friendly service

By John V |

First visit. The Rockfish itself was a little dry and the Brava sauce was a bit overly spicy. The steak was asked for rare and was delivered as requested. The vegetables served with both meals were delicious. Be sure to enjoy their bread. The butterscotch pudding was very good. Not a wide ranging wine list, but enough but enough to find a suitable bottle.

Tasty Food and Nice Presentation

By JimJudee |

We had the pleasure of eating here on Christmas Eve by accident. We were late in making reservations and this was one of the few restaurants with a table available. We started with the Pantry Table. The roasted cauliflower and lamb and pork terrine were very good. The onion soup was the best I have ever had. My husband had prime rib cooked perfectly as was my rack of lamb. My only complaint was the vegetables were close to raw. We would go here again.

Elevated service, food, and drinks

By SaraMSea |

Our family had a lovely and memorable dinner here. Atmosphere was warm and comfortable. The whole staff took care of us with friendly, attentive service, and our food was delicious. Even the pickiest members of our group were pleased. Portions were just right, the specials were spot on, and none of us left hungry or disappointed. The wine list is wonderful, with local and international options at prices that range from weeknight affordable to special occasion splurge. I look forward to returning the next time I'm in the area.

Wonderful food if you aren't in a hurry!

By 1Teapot |

I have eaten here a number of times and the food has always been creative, fresh, and delicious. They even make their own unusual flavored of ice cream which is a must. On the down side, the service is horrible. I understand the food takes time, and that's fine. However, even getting a glass of wine takes forever. It's unfortunate, but the food is worth the wait!

We keep coming back

By Twotravelers1935 |

10 minutes closer to home and we would eat here every week. This is a welcoming, comfortable bistro-like restaurant with a chef-owner who never misses a beat. The staff is very friendly and professional. They know the menu and can suggest wine pairings. The wine list is not deep but more than adequate. What can I say about the food? The menu changes seasonally. There is not a thing on the menu that we can't recommend. And the bread! Home made/baked and just outstanding. I don't know how anyone can be disappointed.

Small but good

By DSonsteng |

Good things do come in small packages. The Bethany Table may not be a big restaurant but it sure does serve up some good food. Nice atmosphere and good service will defininately get me back in the door. Dave (the owner) was very helpful in selecting the right wine. I look forward to our next date night! Heard they have a killer breakfast as well.

Good food, rotating menu

By Kathy L |

This was our first dining experience here and our waitress was very good at explaining the menu and how it changes seasonally. We ordered the Caesar salad, short rib pasta and chicken Marsala. The food was very good and large servings. My chicken was over cooked and dry and difficult to cut, but the potatoes and veggies were good. The bread was crusty and very good. We enjoyed the selection of menu items available and feel most people could find something they liked. Wish I had tried the shrimp and polenta dish as it looked wonderful on the next table. The restaurant is located in a busy shopping/dinning area, but there is free parking available. The restaurant is located on the corner next to Walgreens.

Great fun, great food and fantastic food!

By Mary M |

Love this neighborhood restaurant..The owners are very friendly, and top notch chefs... The wait staff are really a lot of fun, and make for an all around wonderful evening..

Lovely Lunch With Friends

By Leon T |

A friend who lives in the neighborhood took us out for lunch as this is on of her favorite spots and I can see why. There were five of us so we could sample the menu and everyone was pleased with their food and service. I had the chicken curry salad and found it quite good. I'll be back.

Delicious Food

By AcornOwl |

Bethany's Table was recommended by a friend, so three of us came for lunch. We had a wonderful experience. One of us is a vegan with no dairy and there were several dishes for him to choose from. The rest of us had delicious choices. I only wish we had room for dessert. (We'll be sure to add it next time.) The wait staff is helpful and very careful with masks and social distancing. We live nearby and we will definitely come back.

Great Chicken Marsala. Portland Dining Month win!!

By Llilith |

Great meal, friendly staff! Loved the chicken marsala, and the butterscotch pudding was to die for. This restaurant was spot on for Portland Dining Month. Some places seem to have decreased portion sizes for the PDX Dining Month special but not here. Will definitely be back. Love the "In Our America..." sign in the window.

Great Neighborhood Bistro

By Susan B |

We love this place! Great menu and tap list. The seasonal menu had escargot for 8 bucks. Delicious and what a bargain! The fish tacos on the happy hour menu were fresh, crunchy and flavorful. Can't wait to come back!

A oasis in a culinary desert!

By Kathleen S |

Moving to Beaverton presented a culinary challenge for me. Fast food & chain restaurants dominate the scene. It took me a few years to find Bethany's Table. What a delightful surprise. Creative cuisine, fresh ingredients offered at a reasonable price. The perfect neighborhood bistro I'd been searching for! I hesitate to review it, because it's a small restaurant and I don't want to have a problem finding a table. They are currently in the process of expanding, so this may not be a problem. Reservations are suggested. Service is excellent and often the owner can be seen overseeing the front of the house. Cozy, warm environment in the suburbs!

Nice place for lunch

By AnnElizabeth97123 |

We were greeted by the resident shar pei Zoe. Lunch was the special rockfish tacos. Many other good options Great wait staff.

very good food, spotty service

By Steve A |

we went to bethany's table for a going away dinner for another couple. they have a very nice variety of dishes on the dinner menu and the food was excellent. they were pretty busy on the friday night we went there and my only comment would be that i believe our server got a little overwhelmed. not a big deal but we did have to wait for him to show up every now and again. it wouldn't stop us from going there again as i mentioned the quality of the food was excellent.

Excellent dinner with good service

By Foster70 |

Our table of 5 ordered a variety of entrees and everyone was pleased with the meal. Service was great also... prompt, helpful and pleasant. I selected a wine I hadn't had before but I knew the winery and their reputation. It was very good and modestly priced. Overall, their prices are reasonable and well earned.

Great Food, superb service, desserts are aphrodisiacs!

By LaurettaYoung |

This little restaurant which is tucked into a strip mall kind of location will stun you with the quality and service. This rivals the very best restaurants in Portland if not other locales for superb food. The food is from local purveyors and has the seasonal menu that Portland chefs adore. However Janet the chef and owner is one of the most creative people I have seen in the restaurant business and we have been to acclaimed spots around the country with Michelin stars... this one is in their league is not at the very top. There are local seafood dishes, look at the web site for pictures-- one of my favorites is the shrimp creole over soft polenta-- wonderful every time. We have had crusted sturgeon, tuna filets with salsa -- what ever is fresh is also superbly prepared. The meat dishes are interesting and tasty. The comfort foods such as pot pies or cottage pies or hamburgers are just right. For lunch the home made tomato bisque and cheese sandwich cannot be beat. The desserts are a must. Save room. Over time I am addicted to the red velvet cake-- just like Elvis loved. But last night the combination of flower encrusted soft cheese with superb chocolates of several types just literally melted with aromas and taste in your mouth.. As the local university human sex teacher who will on Valentine's day do my lecture on aphrodisiacs I think this was my research! The owners are welcoming and knowledgable as are the wait staff. I wanted a particular pepper martini not on the menu and the waiter obliged perfectly... What a find. Worth the drive if you don't live in this neighborhood. Their growing popularity is well deserved and reservations are now needed most nights but you could get lucky by walking in too..

Good menu, lots of choices

By Foster70 |

Very good service with friendly waitress. The 4 of us were all pleased the the quality and freshness of the food.

Wonderful food, good selection of wine & beer, many kids' toys

By Steve E |

While visiting our friends, we wanted to go out for dinner. They suggested Bethany's Table, since they had been there before and raved about it. Well, Bethany's Table was every bit as great as they told us! We started with adult beverages. Our friends tried the Oatis (oatmeal stout beer from Ninkasi). My spouse had a glass of Malbec, which she raved about. I tried the Sleigh'r (winter ale from Ninkasi). All 4 of us were delighted with those. My spouse and I shared a "pantry board" item that was a spread of butternut squash and crostini. It was delish, and enough for 2 people. Our friends ordered an appetizer of warm French Brie and a salad, which they thoroughly enjoyed. For main dishes, the two ladies ordered a Pork Verde which they loved. My friend ordered the Beef Stroganoff and finished it happily. I ordered the Coq Au Vin, which was great. The only negative was that we sat next to a shelving unit that had a lot of kids' toys. The regulars were aware of this, and the kids were trained to come right up to our chairs, reach over us and grab the toys to play with. If you want to enjoy an undisturbed dinner, I suggest sitting elsewhere.

Wonderful restaurant!

By catladyportland |

Bethany’s Table is a small upscale neighborhood restaurant with exceptional food and service. It is chef owned so the focus is on the food. The ambiance is warm and welcoming.

Great little hidden spot

By Barrett W |

It may be tucked out of the way, but Bethany's Table is a nice quiet little spot for brunch. Arrive on the right day and be greeted by the restaurant's adorable mascot, a Shar Pei puppy that doubles as vacuum patrol for dropped crumbs.

Great ambiance - good food

By RobertaCar |

This place is great - good food, great service, delicious bread and the ambiance is very nice and cozy. A bit pricy but its worth.

Great neighborhood bistro

By MeAgain8 |

I'd been hearing great things about Bethany's Table, so we tried it for a friends birthday/girl's night out. The menu is fresh, local and inventive. In addition to a fabulous menu, they had many specials we had a hard time choosing as well as delicious cocktails. This area has been in desperate need of a non-chain restaurant like this. Keep up the great work!

Always an exciting Night out for dining!

By lvangordon |

This our favorite local family restaurant; You just can't beat the menu; the friendliness; the overall atmosphere for a wonderful dining experience. They never fail to please; You always enjoy your dining experience. Family owned; Family operated too; A must if you're any where in the Greater Portland area.

Menu was intriguing

By keelx2 |

Service was excellent. We arrived early for our reservation and were cheerfully seated. The wine selection was very good, and so was the Oregon Pinot Noir and Pino Gris I selected later. Loved my sherry chicken mousse! I give that top ratings. However, I can't say the same for the seafood pasta. The crab was in small pieces, difficult to find. And I had looked forward to the Meyer lemon and cream sauce, but I was severely disappointed. The sauce, and thick cap of cheese, dominated the pasta to the point of being pervasive. I ate what I could, and when the waitress asked me what was wrong, I told her, but did not really complain. It was, after all, my call based on my taste preference. However, she did give me credit for the dish, even though I ate about 1/4 of it. Will I return? Probably. BTW, the bread they served was the best I've had since I left Naples, Italy 23 years ago. They sell it by the loaf if you order in advance. I'm going to do that for sure!

Who knew the suburbs west of Portland would offer a nice, intimate restaurant, comfortable for two or a larger group. Located in a strip center near Walgreen's and QFC, this place has been a regular stop for the two of us since it opened. The entire menu is excellent: skilled preparation, local ingredients, and mouth watering variety. The wine list is impressive. Service is well trained and attentive. Prices are moderate, portions are generous, but entrees can be shared and enjoyed with a glass wine. Even when crowded the ambiance is comfortable with a soft, muted noise level. Make a reservation as space is limited. You might be visited by the owner who has a eye for quality, detail, and any patrons who desire lively conversation.

What service?

After hearing good things I thought I would try out this neighborhood spot with a friend for lunch. When we went in we were not even greeted by a sour pussed woman who told us we could sit wherever we wanted so we picked a cheery table by the window. After our waiter described the wonderful specials and looking at the menu we did have a difficult time deciding on what to order because everything sounded delicious. We finally decided on the BLT with a cup of clam chowder for her and the fish taco special for me. Our food came out minus her soup so I politely asked the waiter for it which he went and got with no apology just came and dropped at the table. The food was quite good! Then water started dropping on my friend which she couldn't figure out how this was happening but I could see where it was coming from. I told her to move quickly as the water soon began to quickly start pouring from the ceiling onto our table! Another guest ran in to the kitchen to get help as noone was coming to our rescue! The waiters were busy cleaning up the floor, the sour puss at the front desk was checking with the women at the next table who spilled a drink and were left to fend for ourselves. Not one employee or owner asked us if they could move us, help us, get us anything! They ignored us! Sour puss went around to all the other tables and spoke with them. When a man came out of the kitchen a little later with a ladder I asked if he was the owner and he said he was. When I mentioned this to him I was shocked at his response: "Obviosly we don't care so just consider your lunch on us." Ok Mr. Smart A#$! What I was looking for was an honest apology and how can I make it right and some good will - maybe then you would have gained some new customers! Way to do business!!

The only quality place to eat in Bethany!

By AriBloms2 |

My wife and I love dining @ Bethany's Table. Sometimes we bring the kids, other visits it is just the two of us. Either way the owners are wonderful at what they do. Janet is a New York quality Foodie Chef with excellent dishes! David is a skilled host with the most and makes each time memorable. The best place to eat without going downtown. Enjoy!

Quiet Dinner, Amazing Food, Superior Service

By tdanowski |

We had a night out including dinner at this small restaurant which had been recommended to us. What a great experience! The atmosphere is cozy but not cramped, the servers were attentive and friendly, the menu and specials were tantalizing, and we both had a delicious meal. The Spanish Coffee was very good. We'll definitely return to try out other items on the menu!

Didn't feel welcome

By Travelbug52024 |

The food was good, but we didn't feel welcome. The waitress brought 1 small container of syrup for the two of us with pancakes. When we asked for more she reluctantly agreed, after explaining that it was, "real maple syrup," and she didn't like it wasted. We were finished eating and were visiting, when the same waitress asked if we would mind moving to another table ( there were 5 of us plus a baby) to accommodate a large group.

Hand's down...the best burger in the universe

By bissehk |

So....I have my eye exam in Bethany Village. Right across the street is Bethany's Table and the perfect spot for lunch after my appointment. I have a burger with mushrooms and a glass of white wine. Okay...wine at lunch? Well, it felt like I was on a vacation in a tiny village somewhere far away. It just seemed like the right thing to do. The wine was good...the burger was amazing. I have never, ever, had a burger this good. I only get my eyes checked once a year, but "I will be back" for more of this little gem's food. Yum and yum.

Favorite neighborhood haunt

By Padmasrre |

Another reviewer said it, "an oasis in our part of town"! The Bethany area is so laden with chain restaurants that this restaurant serves as a great haven for wonderful food and warm service. The waiters and owners are so welcoming, and the menu keeps changing to offer a great variety, even for folks with dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten free etc). Absolutely love this place. We started coming here when we didn't have the energy to go into the city for a good meal, but have also started going to BT on purpose because of how much we love this place.

An oasis in the burbs!

By Laura S |

We wanted to go somewhere new to have an early NYE dinner. I'd been meaning to try Bethany's for a while. So glad we did! Welcoming environment, friendly and efficient staff, and excellent food. My only gripe was that we got the hightop next to the restroom sign-it would be nice if any seat at a restaurant was a good seat. But the food and service made up for it, and we had a great time. I highly recommend it if your in the area.

amazing meal and delightful ambience

Once agin we enjoyed a delicious meal. I think they do the best halibut in town. They also made a 51st anniversary very memorable. Looking forward to our next visit.

A Frequent Stop

By mudder91 |

We eat here quite often. We love the intimate atmosphere. The food is always fantastic. My son will request this restaurant because their burger is amazing. My husband gets the pork or steak special quite often. I am vegan and they will often modify something on the menu for me and it is always very tasty. The salads are great! Try the smoky bleu, it is wonderful, as is the warm beet salad. My son loves the minestrone soup, and will order it instead of a burger! We don't often get dessert, but when we do, it is VERY good. We also love their occasional wine dinners. What a great value for a wonderful experience.

More than a neighborhood bistro

By George V |

We have always had a great dinning experience here. Excellent choice of wines and beer to enjoy before or during dinner. The dinners have been well prepared and presented. Dave and Janet are great hosts.

Great food; so-so service

By Shelley C |

Bethany ' Table has very good food. The chef is inventive, and the ingredients are fresh, local, as seasonal. The only drawback can be the service. Servers sometimes, to me, seem to need a little more training. For example, although one has a carafe of water on the table, servers do not notice empty glasses in need of ice tea or the like. Nevertheless, this restaurant is well worth the visit.

To be honest it is hard to review

By Nanwil |

This will be a hard review. The decor was nice for a small venue. It is a neighborhood bistro with some upscale features. No Bar so I marked terrible for Bar Scene. So not a gathering place. We had a very nice time. If you have more than four people it will be hard to "fit" in. We had six people. And we felt we were crowding them. The price for a steak was someplace near $46.We had some other dishes that were $17 to $28.I thought that the steak was high, We each had a different dish and everyone said that they had a good time. And that their food was good. But nobody said wow lets come back. Only one bathroom.

Good, but you pay for it

By Husky_In_Oregon |

Downtown/Eastside prices in Bethany. No objection if the food and ambience are on par, but I think the price is high for the quality of food, to be honest. The bread was very good, though I think we were charged for it - not sure it was complementary, and I don't recall requesting it. Nonetheless, it was very good. I do think the restaurant benefits from being the only fine dining restaurant within a 5/8? mile radius - if there are any others, they sure are well hidden. So for people in Bethany/Cedar Mill and the vicinity, there's little local competition. All that said, I'm glad they are there and I wish another restaurateur would take a chance on these burbs. There are a lot of frugal families for sure, but Claremont people have money to spend, and it would save the rest of us from driving far for a great restaurant.

Excellent food and service

By NJOrr |

We enjoyed the several sides here. The warm beet salad was very good, and the green side salad was the best house salad we've had in a long time. Excellent house dressing. The soup was fresh and tasty, and the flank steak bites side was very generous and tender. Highly recommended.

bland, overpriced and surly

By ORtouring |

We took our 91 year old mother here hoping for a good experience as it is very close to her apartment and options in this area are limited. All three dinners were very bland, the vegetables were extremely al dente, the flavors mediocre at best and very overpriced (as were the drinks, $12 for a not very big margarita?!?!). But they made up for it with very slow and rather surly service. If this restaurant were in downtown Portland where there's competition it would be closed in a week. The ONLY reason I'd try it again is because of location and nothing else. One word of fairness though, the other waitress (there were only two to service every table) seemed friendly and pleasant. Our waitress seemed to hate her job and didn't mind letting you know.

A Portland Dining Month Win!

By Joleen B |

This restaurant never disappoints. We easily booked our reservation on Open Table the night before and our table was waiting when we got there. They had two choices for the first course, three choices for the second course, and a multitude of choices for dessert. The service was spot on. Our courses came perfectly timed and were served at the correct temperatures. I could not have asked for a better experience

Great Happy Hour

By slappy42 |

A touch of elegance and class in a soulless strip mall suburb. Great wine selection and a happy hour that lets you pick 3 food items from multiple selections. The service is great and the ambiance is a mini oasis from the the big chain formula restaurants. Definitely worth a visit.

I love the variety of food and the fresh tastes

By Sailing_Sweetie |

I was here for dinner with my friend who ordered the burger and said it was good. I had the steamed mussels which were excellent. A very nice selection of wines. They also have a small seating area in their wine bar. Yummy cocktail selection like a Dark and Stormy or a Spicy Margarita! Atmosphere is nice and there is outdoor seating but you will want to wait to sit outside because the building face is being refurbished.

Great restaurant with wonderful menu

By FScfs |

This is a small intimate bistro with fresh seafood and locally sourced meats and vegetables. The wine list is very good with local as well as imported labels. Highly recommended.

Hidden Delight

By SDFlipFlops |

Their food is always fresh with new thing on the menu every time we go in there. It is a family own place with a good atmosphere. The prices are a little on the high side but the food is top notch. Try their adult Sunday drink.

Great neighborhood bistro

By Dennis |

Bethany's table is like visiting a downtown establishment without leaving the neighborhood. There are not too many places in west Portland that offer the type of experience that you will find at Bethany's Table. The food is always good; high quality without being pretentious. Classical european dining with the best ingredients and traditional technique. The food made from scratch and is locally sourced. They also have some great wines.

Dogs in the restaurant, ick!

By gduman |

Not only was the owners dog in the restaurant, but another couple came in with a little dog (not a service dog) and it sat under the table with them. Oregon law does not allow dogs in restaurants, so what is wrong with these owners? I had a wonderful meal, not the best service, but I won't be back. I love dogs, but I choose not to dine with them. My other complaint, the exhaust fan doesn't work very well so you come out of the restaurant smelling of grease.

Great food and great service...

By Candace F |

This is a favorite in our area for either a romantic dinner or just with the girls. The service is great, great ambiance, great drinks, and delicious food and desserts. It is a little pricey for the higher end items but the Chicken Marsala is absolutely to die for.

Delicious food, comfortable setting

By crum77 |

Bethany's Table consistently delivers tasty and innovative fare at a reasonable price. The seafood is always delicious and the steaks are perfectly prepared. It is a quaint, unpretentious restaurant that is very comfortable and worth the visit.

Excellent meal, creative drinks

By Stephanie A |

Started with a great meat & cheese plate, the biplane & orange drop cocktails, and the warm beet salad. Hubs had the steak. I had the salad special. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Great neighborhood gem...

By Debra M |

If you live on the west side of Portland or are here traveling to visit Nike or Intel...try Bethany's Table. All of their food is locally sourced and they achieve a fine dining experience in the suburbs of Portland. Bethany's Table fits well with Portland's Foodie environment.

The Menu Never Disappoints

By PDXSW2014 |

My husband and I have dined here several times during the past 2 years for lunch and dinner. We often bring friends who are always pleased to learn about a new restaurant. We appreciate that the food is local, seasonal, and freshly made. The daily specials are creative and good. The location is a bit of a drive because we live in southwest Portland, but we never regret our decision to dine at Bethany's Table.

Good experience

By macinoregon |

My dinner was good. I ordered the steak frites - it was served sliced and with Broccolini which was as tough as nails. The frites were wonderful. The steak was cooked to perfection. However, I left still very hungry - and I usually take more than half a meal home. They serve fresh bread before the meal - it is good but very spongey tasting. My friend's meals looked very good and they were happy - but their portions were adequate.
