AWESOME FOOD and Dani is the BEST!!! Dani was our server and bartender and did a EXCELLENT job with her kindness and making sure we had everything we needed and more. Their mocktails and Jalapeño Margarita are fabulous. And for food we had buffalo wings, fried calamari, the fish sandwich, the crab and shrimp burger both with fries, and a variety of the tacos. Everything was delicious and AWESOME!!! And the WaHoo fish taco might be the best taco ever!

Oh my. This place has wonderful California tacos. Great drinks as well. We were able to walk here from our hotel (Aloft). Honestly, I've been craving one of these tacos every since we got back home. I can't wait to go again!

Prices are reasonable (for downtown Atlanta) in the $10-$15 range. The are lots of menu choices, and you could easily please many picky palates here. They have no kids menu, which is mildly annoying, but not tragic. The service is great, and the outdoor eating area is pleasant, though you may get propositioned by homeless people asking for handouts. The variety is great and the best place about it. My party was full of both staunch traditionalist eaters and those who love to try new things and everyone found something to make them happy. Even better, everyone found something they looked forward to trying *next* time.

Food was fine but service could have been better. They like to close places early in Atlanta and this place is one of them. We felt rushed and the waitress was a bit rude and annoyed that she had to serve us. Prices are expensive but recommend to come early to eat dinner because the staff likes to leave early.

My Wife and I ate lunch here on a Monday. We arrived just as they opened so we were the only ones in there until the lunch crowed begin to arrive. We were greeted with a friendly smile and then our server, Trent came by and took our order. Service was fast and friendly, excellent. The food was very good as well. My wife had a chicken quesadilla and I had the Big Kahuna Steak Burrito with Queso on top. The only negative was the chips did not seem to fresh. Overall, very good!

I found this place on my way to a meeting in Downtown Atlanta, in the bottom floor of the SunTrust Plaza. What should have been run of the mill casual dining was actually a menu full of fresh, made to order options, with a near unlimited amount of ways to customize your order. Burgers, tacos, rice bowls- everything was great.

Hit this place at the recommendation of the Hilton staff for a quick lunch. Service was great and pub type food was good. Place is not large but has a nice bar and tv's for watching sports. During Chic-Fil-A Bowl, also has a free shuttle to the game with a minimum purchase. Getting back is on your own but it was easy to catch a cab.

Stopped in for lunch, took over an hour to get our food. The food was just so so, I'm just asking very overwhelmed! Location was good though.

I have never been to Big Kahuna before and this place was great! I loved the chicken tacos! tons of options for everyone. I would definitely go back

Big Kahuna serves up an interesting "build your burger" menu. The "Cali Mex" was tasty with avocado and pico de gallo; I'd have it again. The bartender/waitress, Taylor, was phenomenal and provided extraordinarily attentive service (even with the place being packed).

Was in town on business and stopped in for a drink. The bar was empty as it was early. The house margaritas were pretty good and a decent price. Good selection of beers and some nice ones on tap.

When going to a restaurant for the first time, it is always good to get a server who knows her stuff and has great patience especially when being bombarded with questions. The food portions were plenty and I felt that I definitely would return due to the service and the different menu options available. It is always good to have kids options and they did.

I ate here for lunch during a conference and wasn't expecting much based on the online description but gave it a whirl. I got the shrimp po-boy and the breading was just right, and had excellent flavor. The kahuna sauce is good too, I think it may be thousand island based. Fried green tomatoes were pretty good and the pimento cheese spread was excellent.

Don't know his name. One waiter had a beard and was very very nice. He brought our order. The waiter who took our order could not have been less interested in giving us good service. He was clean shaven Seemed annoyed to be waiting on older people from the start Actually made a face when I asked for a glass for my beer. Never came back to see if we wanted anything else to drink or to see if we liked our food Made us wait a very long time for our check and smirked at me when I managed to catch his eye. So did the young tattooed woman who was also waiting tables. At one point he was Sitting at a table playing with his phone. My husband is a good tipper but he left nothing. It was embarrassing to be treated with such obvious rudeness The food was great but not so great as to make me ever go back or to recommend it to others

Roaming the streets of Atlanta looking for a dinner spot we accidently found the Big Kahuna! We had a large lunch so we were not looking for anything fancy. This place is small, has a bit more of younger crowd, and specializes in Burgers. It is a bit loud but you can still talk without screaming. I had the Big Kahuna with bacon (5 strips for $1.00!) and it was excellent. The fries were crisp. My wife had the Black Bean burger. She was not as excited, but then again, she ordered a black bean burger. Service was a bit slow, but friendly.

We had a party of almost 25 and found the restaurant very comfortable and accommodating. The menu is very varied and offers something for everyone. Since 10 of our group were teenagers, it was important we found food that would please them, too. We were not disappointed. The food was good, the service was good and the prices were very fair. We had made a reservation, and we were seated very quickly. The only complaint with the place was that it was very loud, but it was so much fun, it was not a big problem. We would visit again.

I ate at the Big Kahuna earlier this week and it was wonderful. The food was great, ranging from tacos to fajitas and burgers. What really impressed me was the service I received there during my meal. Our waiter (I wish I remembered his name) was so pleasant and helpful with food and drink recommendations that we had to leave him a great tip. All the best to the great young man we met the other night!

I apologize for an average review but service, food and price were just that average. However, I don't mind average. I mean every dining experience doesn't have to be extraordinary. I would definitely come here again if I'm the mood for some poke in Atlanta.

My wife and I are on our 2 year anniversary trip, went here first thing. Their food was so good, and the servers were so nice! They let us know where all the gay bars/ gay friendly bars were. Simply the best way to start our anniversary!

Food was above average, but service was slow. Wait staff seemed very busy despite the restaurant only being half full (under staffed?). I'd recommend this place if you're not in a hurry. Had tacos and chips and salsa. It's cool that you can customize them. My food wasn't what I ordered, but still good.

I had the three taco meal with three different tacos. Each had a great flavor. The music was loud, but it was a cheery atmosphere.

Went their for lunch with daughter-in-law who got a recommendation from the Hilton employees to eat there. We ate outside on the patio since it was such a nice afternoon. Had hamburgers, fries, salad and drinks which were all great. Service was really good, even though it was tuff to get the bill at the time.

We walked two blocks down from our hotel to enjoy happy hour at this hotel. Very affordable and fun atmosphere. Weather permitting, patio is great for people watching.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and while walking around looking for food, we found Big Kahuna. We were looking at the menu when the server, who was great, convinced us to give the food a try. She was very friendly and the place is uniquely decorated and very clean. Service was fast too. We ordered queso and guac as an app. It was fantastic, especially the fresh guac. I had the Wahoo fish tacos and they were the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. The sauce was fantastic and the slaw was so crisp and fresh. A co-worker ordered the fajitas and they looked amazing. Huge servings too.

Noone would wait on us when we got there. We stood at door for 15 min with 7 open tables, finally someone came over and said those were being saved for reservations at 530.....time was 542 at this point! There was 4 other partys waiting behind us.....went to bar and glass that was given to me had lipstick on it......IM A GUY! Worst place i have ever gone to in my life

We enjoyed our meal there tonight! Clean restrooms impressed me. The service was quite good. My son liked his shrimp taco so much he asked for another (which they got out to us quickly). My fish tacos were good and my husband liked his burger. The fries were very good, too. The decor is a casual beachy vibe & they serve California style burgers and soft tacos for the most part. It is 1/2 block from the Marriott Marquis and is more reasonably priced than most others in close vicinity for a sit down meal. I recommend!

I enjoyed a lovely lunch with some friends at the big kahuna in Atlanta. It was within walking distance of our hotel and it was recommended by another friend. I had excellent shrimp tacos. The salsa and queso were both fresh and flavorful and the portions were generous. The menu offers a nice variety - from hamburgers to Mexican fare - with options and selections for accompaniments. This is a simple place - not pretentious; not fancy - but absolutely worth the visit! Did I mention the prices are beyond reasonable? This place is a terrific values - and fine for children.

The place is inviting, and have a very trendy design. The burgers were delicious!!! Highly recommended .

We enjoyed this restaurant! I enjoyed the shrimp and crab burger tremendously. It was delicious. We also got the Asian rice bowl and it was good too. The chicken and steak fajitas were good as well. The sweet potato fries were excellent! Service was a bit slow but they were packed so understandable.

Its one of the chains that tries to be many things. It comes out average. I was there for lunch. Aside from forgetting my order the place was average. The taste average. Prices average. Follow the trend? Convenient, I'm guessing my service was an anomaly, the waitress seemed overworked so perhaps they were short staffed. I probably will look elsewhere next time.

This place had our reservation for 19 people for a week. We got there and they had a table half set up for us. They had ONE waiter assigned to a table of 19 powerlifters. Drinks were slow to come, orders were taken incorrectly, burgers were over cooked and the whole ordeal took WAY too long. I felt bad for the bartender and our one waiter. The resturant was not even close to full and the other two waiters watched as our waiter struggled. Not once did they offer to help. It really was a debacle. I'm not one to complain, but I assure you...this was pathetic.

The Big Kahuna gives off a very relaxing vibe. From the California theme to the couch sitting outside, I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. As long as you are not in a hurry everything will be fine. They make the food as you order it which means it comes out fresh and hot. I had two shrimp and one chicken taco Santa Barbara style and they were delicious. The side of fries I had were also good. There are tv's throughout for sports fans to enjoy and a bar (not a full bar) that features drinks that tie in to the atmosphere. Check it out and you won't be disappointed.

This was open during the Atl storm and my team of 42 loved it, The staff was great and we enjoyed our meal there

We where a big group and it seemed a bit big for the staff at work. Food was good but service was slow, and we where waiting for food and drinks.

This was not a good choice for a business group gathering, but I suppose it would be okay otherwise. The waitresses were very pleasant and almost doing a good job, if it weren't for a few missteps like failing to tell us the kitchen ran out of oysters so while everyone else was getting their food we discovered too late that we needed to order something else. Or the problem with not getting served my drink because the waitress failed to realize the bar never made it, even though everyone else at the table had gotten something. The food was tasty enough but portions were definitely small because even after sharing appetizers and eating an entire entre and desert I was still hungry. It would have been nice for the manager stop by since we had reservations for a large group and he could have ensured our expectations were being met, but it appears customer satisfaction isn't high on their list of priorities.

We were looking for a "local" place to eat at before heading off to the airport and Big Kahuna was a great surprise. The menu is inexpensive and quite delicious. Everything is fresh and beef is grass feed. The vibe is relaxing a "hang 10" type away and staff is great. Next time I am in ATL I will stop here. Plus, they validate your parking out for free.

Close to a lot of places, good place to stop for a quick bite. The portions were good and the food was very tasty. The black bean burger was yummy! Indoor seating with some outdoor seating.

I was in the city with my daughter and granddaughter who participated in the Cheer Sport Competition. The team held a dinner/buffet for the team and family members at this restaurant that cost us each $50. I was not thrilled with the food which was a minimal selection and was not very hot. The chicken was tough and bland. The restaurant is not large and the area where the buffet table was set up was very tight making it difficult to serve yourself. Perhaps a meal ordered from the menu would be better, but given an opportunity, I don’t think I would go back.

The food is fine, service and speed were good. The menu is a bit overdone, and the tacos are definitely overdressed. The food was good, if nothing spectacular. For a full service bar, I wasn't too impressed by the beer selection. Fine place to go for a dependable lunch or casual dinner.

Wife and I did a late night stop for late dinner...both had the fish tacos, and I had a glass of wine from their adequate but not large listing. Okay for Centennials and meetings a group for drinks, but not on our list for future eats.

My colleague and I were in town for a conference and decided to stay close to the hotel for dinner. We very much enjoyed our meals; the guacamole appetizer was delicious - chunky and fresh. I had the shrimp crab burger with a generous side salad and my colleague had the Sonoma salad. We were both delighted with our choices but the icing on the cake was our server, Jonathan B. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the drink selections. My colleague throughly enjoyed her margarita that Jonathan suggested. We will definitely return when we are in Atlanta again and we hope to have Jonathan as our waiter.

Was with my son, in town for Billy Joel and our hotel concierge said they have great burgers. We walked in and stood inside the door. Since there is a stand we assume we should wait. After a few minutes, a server (apparently) waved from across the room for us to sit. She did not come over and say hello, welcome, have a seat and I'll be right with you. Apparently, she was too busy chatting with the other customers. So we sat down at a table by the window. We noticed she was making no attempt to come welcome us, offer drinks, etc. My son looked down and said "the table is dirty" so I looked and he was right, the table had not even been cleaned. After about a minute, I looked at him and said, lets get out of here, to which he quickly agreed. What horrible service. Just a bad vibe all the way. will never go back and try the food. They need some lessons in customer service!

The service was terrible. Food was not good- chips were stale and the queso dip was cold (I mean really, how do you mess up chips and queso?!). As soon as we walked in the hostess/ server seemed annoyed that we had a child with us (a quiet child, watching cartoons on his iPad). We will not be returning and would not recommend.

This place is pure garbage. Horrible service and the food is even worse. No wonder the place was practically empty when we went there.

Delicious food at reasonable prices. We got our food pretty fast & the portions were perfect. We had a wonderful waiter who was very friendly, upbeat and had a great personality. The guy seating was a little rude & lacked charm but our overall experience was very positive. We'll definitely return to this spot soon!

Easy, convenient parking deck access to the Big Kahuna and in close proximity to the Fox Theater for a show made this a good restaurant pick. The menu is great--burgers, bowls, a Mexican selection, and sandwiches. I'd love to go back and try something else. I opted for the chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. Delicious queso covered the chimichanga that was perfectly seasoned and just enough of a portion. The restaurant quickly filled up and seems to have a good bar scene right after 5 p.m. Friendly service and good food.

Every single bite was terrific. This is an awesome spot in downtown. A decent Mex restaurant was badly needed and here it is! Hooray! I'll be back for fish tacos for sure!

There were people sitting inside, but the door was locked 45 minutes before the posted closing time. The person behind the counter could not be bothered to come to the door, even though we were knocking. He made a sign with his hands, which we had to assume meant "go away." We had walked quite a ways to get there, and this was rude and disappointing.

This is a nice casual restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. There is a wide assortment of menu items that will satisfy any carnivore or vegetarian. My party and I all ordered some kind of sandwich. I enjoyed a really delicious Mahi-Mahi sandwich (the best in my life!) and the others enjoyed their delicious hormone-free hamburgers. While the food was really good, they had run out of some things we desired (the brioche bun instead of wheat, and a lid for my husband's to-go beverage cup), and the service was slow, and at times, a little clumsy.

Quick stop in for afternoon drinks. Was nice restaurant with a beach theme. Nice beer selection and good appetizers.

Just down the street from the main hotels in downtown, this restaurant/bar is a snapshot of what you’d find in Hawaii – outdoor seating, food (tacos, rice bowls, grilled / prepared fish, etc), full bar and friendly people (August was great!). The Cajon Mahi-Mahi was good-good. Portions are small, mixed drinks are pretty good, and it is quick, unpretentious and easy food. Would go back for casual dining.

We ordered tacos, they were amazing but the staff was very slow. There were only two servers and they looked busy but their weren't many people in the restaurant. We will go back but if you're in a hurry I would go somewhere else.

Me and my wife ate lunch here while in downtown Atlanta. They have really good food buy the service we encountered was lacking big time. Also they have a 20% service charge and I have not eaten anywhere when you only have two people gratuity is automatically added to you bill. This may be do to consistently poor service? I will not eat here again.

Big Kahuna on Peachtree Center Avenue in Atlanta is an excellent place to go for all things burgers, tacos, and seafood items. I really like the laid back and fun atmosphere and vibe here and you can relax and enjoy your meal. The staff here is very attentive and works hard to make sure that you are well taken care of and have everything you need for a good meal.

The beer selection was average and the food was okay. The service was really poor. It took awhile for a server to come to the table, and then she acted like I was bothering her. I wouldn't go back. There are better places in the area.

Big Kahuna is a good spot for lunch or an after work drink and bar snacks. - Conveniently located with an outside patio, friendly bar and wait staff make this a good place to unwind.

I had a very generous portion of fajitas and my co worker ordered a burrito that was enormous. The food came out quickly and was delicious. Excellent customer service. I agree with some of the other reviewers that due to the size of restaurant that I didn't have high expectations but they exceeded my expectations and more

We were two for dinner. Chimichanga and a Burrito and beers. The Burrito came out first, then 5 minutes later the Chimi. Of course when we started to eat the burrito was no longer hot. I searched inside the tortilla for something warm enough to palate, but found nothing. In spite of my hesitance to complete the meal, and one having been drained, the waiter was WAY too long getting back to our table to check on quality. He had many tables to tend outside on the patio. And the restaurant was not even half full! He said, "Is everything OK?" and turned to leave. When I said "NO" he took a step or two and said, "Wait. What?" I said "no, my food is not hot." He said he'd take it back and do it over, but I NEVER send food back for heating or fixing or replacement. He said "I'll take it off then" and left. After walking past our table anther 8 or 10 times he finally stopped and asked if there was anything else. I said "May I speak to the manager?" He replied, "I'm the manager." That explained it. A weak or "fake" manager working as a waiter is more concerned with covering his tables than with proper operations or customer satisfaction. A real manager would not have delivered two meals 5 minutes apart. A real manager would have apologized for cold food before comping it so quickly. Or offered a free voucher, so at least they'd have another chance to prove their quality. Because I didn't give him a satisfactory solution to the cold meal issue, this week manager wrote me off. Any owner who would let a manager also wait tables must be making other mistakes, too. I do not trust this place.

I'll cut right to the chase: Do not go here. We waited an hour and a half to be served. It was an hour before the waiter even approached our table. To be fair, the place was pretty full for part of that time and only two people were waiting tables, but there was a horrible lag even after the place emptied out. I seriously thought of leaving no tip whatsoever. When the food finally arrived, it was cold and the beef tasted weird. I would never recommend this under any circumstances.

OK, might sound weird - but my boys wouldn't quit raving about how cool the men's bathroom was (unfortunately, I can't confirm that). Also, the wait staff was cool - attentive, helpful - and the food was GREAT! We tried Asian bowls, tacos and burritos. Outdoor seating is plentiful and comfortable. Great place!

I don’t often give bad reviews, but this place was unacceptably rude, understaffed and simply not worthy of our business. We had booked a group function with them for about 30 people a few weeks in advance. They had another party at the same time. Our food was considerably delayed - we had to keep pestering for our appetizers (had to even ask for plates and napkins!), and most of the food did not come out until the very end after most of our guests had already left. During our 1.5 hours there, our glasses were usually empty, we tried to clear away our own dirty dishes, ... The music was super loud - no one could talk (same for the other group). We asked many times to turn down the music, usually with rude looks. We got the music turned down once, and then management turned it back up. Everyone was RUDE - they treated us like we were an imposition to them and their other party versus us being paying customers who booked weeks in advance. At the end of the event, the management turned up the music even more (really loud!) to drive us out. Basically, we had to beg for anything we needed (napkins and plates should be basic and not need requesting), and the management was completely unapologetic and absolutely rude. I would never step foot in this place again. And, we were paying customers! I can’t believe this place is in business! Worst experience ever.

I ate here for an early dinner while on a business trip. The website listed a happy hour early menu, but the waitress said they didn't have it written down and just started rattling off some items. I didn't really like this. I got some early bird nachos, which was tortilla chips, with a little cheese, jalapenos, and pico. The chips were good, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the Big Kahuna Burger with fries. The burger was good, but not great. It was supposed to have a special sauce on it, but I don't think there was much of it on there as I never tasted it. The burger was a little dry. I ordered mine medium well, but it was pink on the inside. The french fries are thin, on the shoe string style.

This restaurant's Best asset is their very friendly Staff They have a Nice selection of drinks but i havent taster their food yet Thomas

Great place for lunch right beside Hyatt & Hilton Downtown hotels. Delicious Angus burgs, with no hormones or antibiotics in the meat, at a reasonable price--compared to very expensive hotel restaurants. TV screens abound with sports and news coverage.

I think we came at an awkward time of the day. It seemed like the bartender was the only person on duty and the bar was full and there were 4 or 5 tables full. It was around 1PM, so it shouldn't have been too odd a time of day. Food was OK. Lots of beers.

I was there with a group and we were served a private buffet. I have to say it was just OK. The place smelled wonderful, and the regular guests there looked like they were enjoying their food very much, but the buffet was disappointing.

Big Kahuna is the lastest restaurant in the space across form Pacific Rim in the SunTrust Garden Plaza ground floor. Its offering is a faux laid back beachy theme with a good menu featuring burgers, tacos and a few other offerings. The burgers are tasty and mine has always come prepared as ordered. This is a downtown establishment catering to the white collar lunch time crowd so expect to pay a bit more than you would like for a burger. If you can get by some of the odd-ness of the decor (umm how does a life size Silver Surfer fit in exactly) this is better than average lunch time eatery. I have not gone after hours but have been told it has a reasonable bar selection.

After waiting close to an hour and asking every 10 minutes for a cheese dip we were delivered a cold chicken fajitas. We said we were leaving and the manager immediately appeared with a cheese dip and said he would comp it but they still left a cold chicken fajitas on our table.it wasnt even busy we said we were leaving and left $20 for 3 beers. Don't bother as they need to employ smarter people clearly

The weather was just turning cold this weekend and we had a dog so we started to look for an outdoor place with heaters. Unfortunately no one appeared set up for this. We tried one place and they said we could sit outside--but I'm a wuss for the cold. My wife noticed another place--Big Kahuna--had heaters but they were not on. We stepped inside and pled our case and they said they would take a chance on us and let us bring our dog with us inside. We are so glad they did--the food was wonderful--well prepare, large salad portions and delicious. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly--though maybe it was because they like our daughter Amanda's dog Coco. I'm not sure everyone can bring their pet inside, but I am sure you can stop here for a great meal and friendly service. Try it!!

Order was wrong twice. Nothing was fresh. Salad was wilting. Burger was underseasoned, overcooked, and skimpily topped. Don’t listen to the Hilton concierge, steered me wrong.

Great place to eat is what we stumbled upon at Big Kahuna's. Great burgers and toppings for them. The nachos were good also. We liked it so much, and it was close to out hotel that we ate there twice during the weekend.

We visited tonight for dinner. Our two entrees came out 5 minutes apart, so the first was cold when we began to eat. Our waiter was the manager, and proceeded to tell us we were rude by saying “no” when asked if everything was good after we finished our meal. It then took over 10 minutes to get a check, and our waiter/manager never once apologized for a terrible experience.

Had lots of variety on menu, but food was average at best. Convenient location and fairly fast service.

I've been to Big Kahuna in the past and felt the service was great and the food was fine. I like the tacos, but am usually still hungry when I'm done. This time, I had the Cali Mex Melt Turkey Burger and it was fantastic. As usual, the service was great and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Now, I'll be excited about returning!

I stopped here for dinner early on a wednesday evening. The place was about half full but the one waitress was having trouble keeping up. I ordered the three fish taco meal and chose to try three different types of tacos. I was a little disappointed in the meal. I can't say that they were bad but, very average. I really thought they would be better after reading the menu. The business associate I was traveling with came to the same conclusion.

This place won't blow your mind, it's not a restaurant you'd go out of your way for, but the food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the people who work there are friendly. I ended up there with a group of about 10 people who wanted to get away from a conference and have lunch together, and there was no problem getting a table right away. The menu is some sort of Cali-Mex-Pacific hybrid, with everything from burgers to fajitas to poke bowls. The soundtrack is 90s pop that you haven't thought of since you were in high school (if you're my age). I got an asian tuna bowl, which was a little skimpy and pricey, but the burgers looked good, and on the whole the prices were reasonable for this part of town. Three stars isn't a bad thing -- I'm sure you can get better food nearby if you wait a little longer, pay a little more, and make a reservation in advance, but for a walk-in casual place, this place gives you a lot of options, and the quality is good.

Very affordable lunch. Hamburgers looked amazing, got the fish and chicken tacos. The meat is cooked fresh and the sauces are fantastic. Got two but should have gotten three tacos. Walking distance from the Marriott downtown. Across the street Morton's

Came here based on previous positive reviews. Menu was diverse and reasonably priced; something for everyone. We started with a tortilla chip platter with fresh guacamole, red salsa, salsa verde, and white cheese queso. We each ordered something from the taco or fajita choices which had a variety of seasonings and toppings. Everything was delicious and plentiful for the price. There are a few tvs for sports fans to watch their teams and the restaurant is decorated with ocean themed decor. Great spot for a quick bite to eat and relax after a long day.

Love the twist on baja cuisine ! the seared ahi tuna appetizer does not disappoint! the chips trio is great and perfect with the white queso or guac. Personally, i love the thai chicken tacos but the korean are a close second. Its the perfect spot if you find yourself in downtown Atlanta for dinner - casual, comfortable and most importantly- GREAT food!

My friend and I were actually their first dinner table but you would never know! It was so good we went back for lunch the next day! The shrimp tacos are amazing and so fresh tasting! I highly recommend this place!

This is a nice casual restaurant that has indoor and outdoor seating available. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and catch some of the midtown/downtown scenery. The waiter talked to us while before we even entered the restaurant as we were waiting on our other party to join us. He was very nice and we ended up sitting in his section; such a friendly guy. Nice atmosphere and the prices were reasonable that included a menu that varied enough for persons of different tastes and preferences.

Food was fresh and reasonably priced, considering this place is next to the Pacific Rim Restaurant. Cosmo was delish- perfect, really. Loved the fish there. Spent about $20 for meal with drink and that was the cheapest meal we had in Atlanta.

So, I find this place online while staying downtown Atlanta for a conference. Looks like some awesome burgers. I map them out, walk a few blocks, and at 8:00 on a Tuesday night, I'm waiting to be seated. The place isn't dead, but it is not swamped either. Appears to be slightly under half full. It takes almost five minutes before I am even recognized. One of the waitresses gets the attention of some dude sitting at a table with what appear to be some customers, and she points at me. The guy walks to me talking as he approaches and I can't make out what he is saying. "What?" I ask. When he finally gets to where I can hear him, he says, "Some our our menu items aren't available for the rest of the evening." "Like what? I ask. "Burgers and fried and stuff." "Okay," I say and turn and walk right back out the door. Waste of time much? I realize that there are those who probably think I shouldn't rate a restaurant I haven't actually eaten at, but I want to warn others of the potentially crappy service. If you are going to go, call first to see when they will serve food until. Their website states they are open until "Closing"... whatever in the hell that means... apparently some time before 8:00 pm. I am giving their food the benefit of the doubt, which is why they get 2 stars instead of 1.

Delicious, by far one of the best restaurants I have been to. I had the shrimp tacos and salad with ginger dressing. I will definitely be going back.

Yes, the hotel where I was staying recommended this place and handed me a flyer with a coupon that said "free taco"...you know free is not always free tho!.... I handed the waiter my coupon before my order, which where the Gyro tacos, which are TO DIE FOR!!!....and he immediately said, 'Naw, you just get $3.00 off'. I was starved, the taco picture looked great...I didn't feel like protesting; but I did notify the concierge where I was staying of the misrepresentation. They said, "No, you were suppose to get a free taco"....I thought if was because maybe it was a specialty taco or something... Nonetheless...it gets a 5 because I forgot to go back and get some more!!

I came here for an early dinner last week since it was close to my hotel and got good reviews. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were tasty - obviously we're not talking about high end upscale dining here - but for a quick casual tasty meal that's well above any chain restaurant level, this is a good spot that I would recommend. The service was also very good and friendly, and the menu is very diverse, offering a number of things I would have liked to try. Next time I'm in Atlanta looking for a quick, tasty meal, I'd come back here.

My family lunched together andthe waitress took the time to explain items on the menu, and let us try a couple of drinks we have never had before. Great lunch, catered to our varied tastes.

Food was good. A little expensive for what you get, but not bad. The service was friendly, but not very fast. Everyone seemed a little preoccupied, not much personal attention. Trending atmosphere. I would eat here again.

Following reviews, I had medium expectations for this restaurant. I did question the name and it being a "California" restaurant vice a Hawaiian vibe. When entering it sure had a lot of Hawaii boards, so who knows. I had the queso and a southwest type burger. All the food arrived on flat half baking sheets. The queso was just cheese and had no real elevating flavors. The burger was ok, but not really worth the cost. Actually, the fries were the best part of the meal. Service was ok and it was clean. Seemed like a cheap version of Teddy's Bigger Burgers from Hawaii....not great.

The restaurant itself is a little small but the staff and atmosphere make up for its size. The food was amazing and I would be sure to eat there again if I was in Atlanta

They really messed up on the fried cod sandwich, overcooked and dry, but my husband's burger with same toppings was very good. Wait staff was great and didn't charge for my sandwich when I didn't eat it. Good selection of beers and fun atmosphere.

Big Kahuna is a Cute restaurant that, thematically, reminded us of a restaurant in SoCal called Islands. That's actually why we visited Big Kahuna; we used to frequent Islands in L.A. and thought it might be similar. The food was pretty good, but could be better in certain ways. For example, the BBQ sauce on the grilled chicken sandwich was cold, and would have been much better warmed. Also, the buns on both the chicken sandwich and burger were toasted but cold, suggesting that they had been toasted well in advance. The fries were OK (tasted good, but nothing special). But, overall, both the chicken sandwich and burger were tasty and the bacon on my burger was perfectly crisp. Our server - a young woman whose name I cannot remember - was great. The restaurant was fairly empty but, regardless, she was friendly, attentive, and knew the food and drinks well. Speaking of drinks, the drinks were also good and they have a reasonable draft beer selection. Overall, I'm not mad at Big Kahuna and would probably go back for a burger and beer again if I'm in the neighborhood.

Have to say the food was fantastic, stayed in a hotel local to Big Kahuna so nice and quick to get there. The chefs were quick and efficient with great food to match. Hmmm the servers were disorganised and lazy, I watched the food sit on the hot plate for a while and was tempted to go get it myself.

We were staying at a near by hotel and Big Kahuna was the only restaurant we found without a wait. Usually no wait is a bad sign on a Saturday night, but we were pleasantly surprised. We both ordered tacos and shared a guacamole dip. You select your protein and style. We tried all the protein: shrimp, cod, chicken and steak. We chose Tijuana and Santa Barbara for our style. They were all yummy.

Had lunch here with the hubs and friends. This place had a great vibe, our server was fantastic, and the food was delicious! Will definitely be back next visit to Atlanta!

After a long day, Big Kahuna was there to nourish the hungry. Nice so-cal menu. Korean chicken and Santa Barbara steak tacos were excellent. Not ease to notice as signage was sparse but glad we found a “restaurant near me”.

While staying at the Marriott Marquis, decided to grab a quick bite for lunch. It was absolutely pouring rain outside and was going to make it hard to go outside to get to the restaurant. However, we discovered there was a way to get to the Big Kahuna through a couple of hallways and the covered bridge walkway over the street which lets you out right to the doors of the restaurant! Ask the concierge for directions. Anyhow, I had the Malibu Chicken sandwich and another had the Big Kahuna burger. Both were real good. I liked the home made chips. Our server took good care of us too.

Came here for lunch with a friend on a Wednesday. It was recommended by our hotel concierge, and even though I don’t usually frequent burger joints, Big Kahuna was much more than a place to get a glorified Big Mac. They offered an impressive menu with items ranging from Baja-mex, Mexican, salads, and different protein contraptions. I went with the burrito bowl which featured the house kahuna rice, black beans, lettuce, jack cheese, pico, sour cream, salsa rojo, and guacamole. On top, I selected the grilled shrimp, and I asked for the spicy version of it. It packed enough heat to burn my insides. Caveat empor! And yet, it was still quite yummy. My colleague had a monstrous salad with enough grilled steak on top to feed an ogre. Seating outside at street level was a nice alternative to the somewhat confined interior. It was nice to get away from the excessive air conditioning, too. Service was alright, not great. It took quite a while to get the bill and even longer to pay. Prices weren’t super expensive but they weren't cheap either. The damage for the two of us was in the low $30s, and our only beverage was a single diet Coke. For some reason, my ice water tasted grainy, and unless the faucets at this restaurant were tainted, I’ve now learned that drinking from Atlanta’s taps is not something to take lightly. Four stars on the Cherry Wonderdog scale for a better than expected meal at a funky burger joint that would need to iron out a few rough spots to be among the grandest in this dining category.

After having the "Whole Nine Yards" nachos I had no doubt I'd have it again the next time back. Great for sharing with friends - the queso drizzled on top makes all the difference. Price is reasonable and the staff fairly attentive if a bit unenthusiastic. The drinks are delish but packed with so much ice that they end up being quite small. I'd definitely go back!

This was our first night in America and this little place was just around the corner from our hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a relaxed atmosphere. We had steak fajitas and tacos which were delicious and filling and would happily go here again.

We ordered 3 meals. I had the El Salmon. It was excellent. Very good flavor. My hubby ordered the whole nine yards burrito. It was very good. The kid had a salad and I swear it was as big ad her head. We also had the hot brownie and ice cream. It was yummmmmm. The wait staff were over the top nice and very helpful. I would recommend this place.

Not just a burger place: wide range of salads, sandwiches, tex mex, and appetizers with Cali/ Hawaiian vibe. We had tacos, which they allow you to customize, and the seafood was done just right. They offered local brews on tap, which is a selling point for us. The server was attentive but not annoying, and food came out fast and fresh. Great atmosphere and funky decor. Loved it!

We needed a quick bite for lunch and we decided to go to this restaurant. Our waitress was very efficient and friendly. We joked around with her and she took it very well. She recommended many items we ordered our food was good.

So I went to the Big Kahuna for the 1st time in Downtown Atlanta on my lunch break. They have the best Customer Service with the most juiciest Tasteful Turkey Burger ever.I will definitely be back during a weekend visit to take my family. It was another customer that paid for my meal..I was totally shocked because I was not feeling well that particular day.God is Good...

Big Kahuna is an awesome place to hang out after work. Especially for those that work downtown. Perfect outdoor seating on Peachtree Center. Southwestern food such a tacos to hamburgers. Atmosphere is great. One of my downtown staples.

The food is really good here and they have some decent of beers on top. The staff is friendly and this is a great place to get a good meal at a very reasonable price.

My hubby and I stopped in for a few drinks after a nice dinner (Cuts) downtown. It was a seat yourself type of place. We sat and then it took over 10 minutes to be noticed. A server brought us a menu. I let him know that we were just going to have a few cocktails and that we are ready. He stopped me and said he was not our server. So we sat for at least 7-9 minutes more and a gentleman came over to get our order. The drinks were a decent pour, but a little messy. We were not offered napkins. We had to get those ourselves. When I was ready for another drink it took our server a while to notice. Finally he came back. I ordered one drink, my hubby was driving so he was good. It took a good while to get this cocktail. Now, this was nothing fancy...vodka and club soda. The place was practically empty. I continued to watch this server chat with other servers at the corner of the bar. Finally he came with my drink. Oh, and no personality what so ever. My husband had to go up to the bar to get the check. It did not appear that our server was coming back around. So, pretty disappointed in the service despite the decent pour...$10-12 a drink. Will not be back. Reason why we did not go somewhere else...they had the NCAA games on!

Food was fine. Very informal, burgers and the like. Friendly, small, good location. Server was excellent.

We went to this Mexican restaurant for lunch while attending a conference in downtown Atlanta. We chose to eat outside even though it was quite windy. We had a sweet waitress who looked exactly like Salma Hayek. She expertly put coasters under the table to level it on the sidewalk. We ordered chips and salsa, tacos, chicken quesadilla, and I believe a chicken salad sandwich (one friend doesn’t do regular Mexican food). Everything was delicious and the portions were large and very reasonably priced. Our food did not come quickly but maybe that was due to the variety and that we had 5 people during a busy lunch time. My chicken quesadilla was full of chicken, moist and expertly cooked. The side of rice was a little heavy with a turmeric taste but still good. The only thing a couple friends didn’t like was the red salsa. They liked the green one but felt the red one tasted funny. I liked it. The green one looked too close to guacamole for my liking-not a fan of that but they said it didn’t taste like it. I would definitely go back to this restaurant on a return visit to the area.

I was attending a meeting at one of the big box hotels on Peachtree and spotted this place (near the Marriott Marquis and Hyatt). I came by for a late lunch and was very impressed by the food. They seem to be going for a surf bar ambiance, but the customized tacos were super very reasonably priced. You can mix and match fillings and toppings in at least 30 combinations. The food was well prepared and tasty. This is definitely better that the local hotel fare.

I took a coworker here on our lunch break. We ordered the Big Tuna, a seared ahi that was average quality and taste though the quantity was good. The waitress forgot to give us silverware or chopsticks, so we had to flag someone else down after waiting a few minutes to see if she was coming back with it. I ordered the lump crab and shrimp burger and it was mouth watering good. I got it with the Asian style veggies which were also good and a side salad, that wasn't large, but had perfectly fresh and tasty tomatoes cubes on it. My coworker got the Big Kahuna Turkey burger and fries. He loved the burger, but it was so large he couldn't finish it. The only downside was how slow the service was. We were at the end of the lunch rush and most people were leaving, but it still took forever. We even saw a couple arrive after most people had left and we were finally served and done, before they got their food. I heard their waiter apologize for being late, which ours never did. Overall, I would still recommend them as long as your not in a hurry or have a boss that will hammer you for being late from lunch.

We drove there and had to parking in the parking deck but, they will validate parking. Had the east meets west and was good but, the bacon was chewy not crispy, and the wicked pimento cheese tasted good but there was very little on it, the mom‘s pickles where not on it. Fries where good but, needed something. The Hand Smashed Guacamole was good but, not a big serving and needs a little more lime. The Signature Humamole was not there and the Lump Crab & Jumbo Shrimp Burger was not there also. But the service was great.

We happened upon this restaurant as it was close to our hotel. We had burgers that were quite good as were the fries. Our server was nice and attentive.

Went there for a fast dinner and were happy to get a seat at this place. It was very very crowded and it took quite a long time until someone came to us at the front door. Nevertheless we git our seats and food. We went with different tacos and I have to admit they were good, I am especially a fan of the fried fish and Korean chicken. The guacamole was okay, lacked a bit flavour.

Decided to give this place a try and the four of us were not disappointed! We each ordered something different off of the menu and we were all very impressed with the quality of the ingredients. Everything was so fresh and we all had so much food that we had leftovers. Highly recommended!!!

We arrived in Atlanta and our room wasn't ready. The concierge gave a coupon to Big Kahuna's and sent us on our way. The trio and the Island Jumbo Shrimp were fantastic. I also got to try the fish and steak tacos. Great value for downtown Atlanta. Great service by Michael and we can't wait to go back!

Great variety of tacos and many other great items on the menu as well. Servers were very attentive and quick to help when needed.

I can't wait to go back.. If I worked downtown, this would be a fav lunch spot. We arrived a closing time and they actually unlocked the door and fed us!

I would usually not say this about southern restaurants, but the sole vegetarian entree they have seemed like the one you get in a french restaurants - three small things on a small plate. Looked like a kid's meal!

We both had the big Kahana burger. It's a half pound! Very good! Mine was a little rare but my husband's was cooked perfectly so we traded. Excellent burger! Had the fried pickles as an appetizer. Very good. I had a skinny margarita which was just ok. My husband had bourbon and ginger ale @ $12 a drink. Slightly more expensive than what we're used to in our travels. Trent was an excellent server and did everything to make our meal great.

My wife loved this place, I thought it was mediocre. The staff was friendly enough, but the prices too high for what you get. She had the Santa Fe Rice Bowl and could stop talking about it. I had chicken tenders and fries. The fries were too salty and the chicken a bit overdone. I would only go back because the wife liked it.

Rice bowls very good especially with added 12 grilled shrimp for $6 extra. Tables too close together and bumped numerous times. They also have hamburgers and other food. Our server was very attentive. Since it was crowded, it was very noisy.

Peachtree Center has long been a Twilight Zone of dining. There are two food courts in the Mall, but better, sit-down dining has been very limited. The Big Kahuna is a very welcome addition in the latter category. The menu is limited, for certain, but what they do they do very well. The burgers, etc. are killer. The tacos are very good. Everything is freshly made and tastes it. Check it out!

I had the pleasure of eating the Korean style tacos with spicy tossed shrimp. It was the best taco that I've ever had! If you like the sweet and spicy combo then definitely try the Korean style tacos. They also have a really good shrimo and crab cake burger.

OK bar in the central Atlanta that's a small step above the Peachtree food court. Reasonable range of beers and some standard fajitas etc. Service was a bit slow.

Good place for beers and munchies that are way above the standard bar food. Fish tacos were excellent. We also had the dip platter with chips, and multiple dips. Great service and we got the Rays game on TV. Bartender was very outgoing and a lot of fun.

Tasty shrimp fish taco and Asian rice bowls. Weak selection of beer.servers are young and could use coaching. Music our night was way too loud for style

Finding myself in a district of large anonymous hotels, I wanted a spot to take a young couple for a light lunch in a place where we could dine alfresco to enjoy the good weather. This restaurant fit the bill. Service was friendly, prices reasonable and the menu varied enough for persons of different tastes. We had a good family visit in pleasant surroundings.

Great Burgers and Tacos. Service was average, and there seemed to be some issue with our first server and we were assigned another. The burgers were the best. The chicken and beef tacos were good, the cod taco was so-so as was the shrimp. Tuna ricebowl was good. Liquor drinks a little expensive for this type of place. Atmosphere was open dining type. Stick with the burgers, beer and basic tacos

The bellman at the motel recommended this when asked -told me the tacos excited him. Had the chicken enchiladas and they were fine. I counted 6 TVs going. The baseball playoff game (2 different channels), the NBA game, CNN, & sports talk show (2). Otherwise sparse.

We visited on our first night after a long flight from the UK. We visited as it was close to our hotel and we're glad we did. The food was good and the service was excellent.

nice food had the 3 tacos and my friends had the shrimp and crab burger which they were impressed with, it is a place to visit. great location for you to sit and chat with friends.

There weren't many people out that night so we had the restuarant to ourselves besides the staff. The Manager took good care of us.

We hosted a corporate happy hour here for about 30 people. The pricing was reasonable for downtown Atlanta, and we were pleased with the food. Our server did an excellent job handling such a large group. We also had easy service in planning in communicating directly with the owner. He was helpful and very responsive. I would recommend this restaurant to others.

This venue seemed to be popular, maybe with locals, and the staff were really friendly, but I found it mediocre and wished I’d spent my money somewhere else.

I was under the assumption we were going for Hawaii good due to the name and was slightly disappointed to find it it was Mexican food. However the disappointment ended when we started eating. The food was flavorful, service was attentive and the restaurant was very accommodation to our larger business parties needs. I spend a bit of time in Atlanta and will definately return when craving Mexican food now that I know this "Big Kahuna" serves up some good stuff.

Stopped by for a quick meal one evening and saw this place near where my wife works. She had fajitas and they were average. Nothing special. I had the shrimp with fries. The shrimp tasted great but the fries were soggy. Overall an average place with average food and service.

Ate here after visiting the GA Aquarium in late-March. This California style beach-themed restaurant is located downtown on Peachtree at street level in one on the SunTrust skyscrapers directly across the street from Morton's. We had a $50 Groupon that made our family of four meal really a true bargain. The hamburgers are juicy and quite tasty. The tacos my wife and daughter ordered her equally yummy. Try their nachos appetizer with three different dips. The food is flavorful, the surfing theme appropo, and the service attentive.

Amazing food and service! Our family got a variety of food. Chips & queso, BBQ chicken quesadilla, pork tacos, chicken sandwich and chicken wings with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious and the service was amazing!

OK... sorry for the cheesy Pulp Fiction quote, and like Vincent I didn't try their burgers, but they looked good!! I was in Atlanta for a conference and this place was a couple of doors down from my hotel and I initially went there as it was convenient, and I was happy I did. The have a very "fresh" menu and the place is clean and friendly. Everything on the menu looked good and I ended up going with the Tacos. It's great because you pick your protein (Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, or Cod) and then you have a variety of styles to choose from. I got the shrimp (spicy) and Korean style and it was outstanding!! Fresh, great flavor on the sauce. I got the other Taco with Cod (grilled) served Wahoo style. Again very yummy. The place was so good I ate there for lunch twice during my three day conference. With all the choices between protein, style and and prep it feels like you have an endless variety. If you're there for lunch I suggest you sit at the bar (full bar service) where Strider, the English bar tender, will take great care of you. I wasn't able to make here in the evening but it looked like they had a great selection of liquor. This is a must-visit place, I wish we had one in Denver.

During a volleyball trip, this small, unprepared restaurant took 45 minutes past our reservation to seat us. It then another 55 minutes to get our food. The food was average at best. Find another place if you are wanting to be taken care. Not one person mentioned "sorry" for the issues.

We stopped after our visit to the aquarium and our waitress was very helpful on helping us choose the best food for our moods. I enjoyed their nacho plate and my husband loved his burger made fresh.

We had a super bowl party here and it was perfect. The service was great. Thanks Trent. Great atmosphere and good food.

Lunch time visit between meetings. A group of us went and food was good and the service was very quick. Plus, the waitress had a great personality. There is a gracious plenty of food on your plate. Very enjoyable
Average Burger place with Hawaiian knick knack
Setting: Burger place with outdoor seating. Lots of Hawaiian decor (a matter of taste, if you would like it ...). Food: A large list, where Burgers are the special treat in all varieties. Good: portions are not too large and are manageable. Service: functional and effective. Would I return: hmmmm - not necessarily
