We have been coming here for many years for many bdays and celebrations. The last few years I have told myself I am not coming back but here I was yesterday with a group of 9 adults celebrating my son in laws bday. Ordering was quick and seating was quick as there was hardly anyone there. Maybe 4 tables being used. We were seated at a table that should have held 5 or 6 adults and 2 or 3 children. Definately not 9 large adults. We were squished together without any elbow room and by the time they brought our 2 pitchers of soda and 9 cups there was absolutely no room to put anything else. Not our 2 20 inch pizzas or our wings or our salad. We told our waiter we couldn't eat like this with no room and he said he would talk to someone. After about 15 minutes of sitting like sardines my husband went to talk to someone about us moving to a bigger table or pushing another table over, since it was deserted we didn't understand why we were seated there in the first place. We had never had any seating issues previous to this. So my husband comes back and said they told him they could bring an extra chair so we wouldn't be so crowded. He said what the hell will that solve the table is too small and won't even hold any food. She then argued that all the tables were the same size. Ok but there were tables pushed together so why can't we move? She then says she will have to talk to a manager, really? So finally about 45 minutes after we got there we were finally granted permission to move to one of the many empty bigger tables. No sooner had we moved all our food came out at once. Onto the food. Our pizzas were cold, they looked like they had been sitting for some time. Prob due to the moving tables fiasco they had been sitting. They looked and tasted horrible. Paper thin soggy crust hardly any toppings or cheese and did I mention cold. Wings were ok again cold, salad mostly lettuce. We paid 90 plus bucks for this gourmet experience. The food has been going downhill for years now while the prices go up and up. No bargain here and definately bad service. This time I won't be back!!!!

Went with 12 people so we were a party on our own but the staff really worked to make it even more fun. Pizza was delicious and there were lots of choices for everyone. This place is off the beaten path but no visit to San Antonio is complete without a pizza from Big Lou's. Did not try one of their giant pizzas as everyone wanted their exact personal pizza.

We took 9 people here and still did not finish the 42 incher. But that isn't all. This was seriously good. True to my love of thin New York style Pizza, I ordered simple toppings. 1 per quarter. The sausage was pretty darn good. I had 2 slices. I was more than stuffed. Would I go back? Yep, it was good stuff.

Big Lou's is a must taste and must see in San Antonio. After settling in our hotel we headed to Big Lou's for a late lunch. It was definitely worth the drive. The calzones were the size of footballs and the pizza was very good. Our table did not order the extra large pizza, but it was fun watching 2 other tables have their pizza delivered. It was huge and it was fun to watch the tables when their pizza arrived. Would go back again for the tastes, sights and smells.

I ordered the items and nothing was right but the drum selection then I called to let them know my order was messed up and they told me that the service I used to order put the order in wrong when I in fact called the store after I order online to tell them specifically how the order is suppose to be and she said she wrote it down and that when they sent the order in she would make sure she will let them know how to prepare it WRONG it was all wrong and it was cold and I just stay down the street never again and I paid 40 for just me Ugh! Burnt wings not flavored like I asked pizza super toppings where r my toppings? With all those xtra charges very disappointed

We ordered the 37 inch pizza with pepperoni and hamburger...such a large pizza and very good too...The waitress was very polite and helped box out left over monster pizza..

After all the fuzz we had heard we were gunning for the 42" just to see how big a pizza can be... We happened to get there at the worst possible time... Saturday at noon, right after a dentist appointment. Waited in line for one hour. Once we reached the front of the line the lady told us we'd have to wait for one more hour to get a table and another hour to get the food! At that point half of our party said, 'come on, it's just pizza' and decided to leave (everyone was real hungry by now). We ended up changing the order to a 37" and to GO, and took another 40 min of waiting. All for the modest amount of $95 ($5 was for the box alone). Taste was pretty good, though the crust is paper-thin. All in all, we won't do it again. Unless we happened to be in the area and made sure there was no wait time. Otherwise it's not worth it.

Had to try a huge pizza while visiting SA. Went on a Friday around 2 and had no wait. Went on a weekend one other time and was told a two hour wait. So we were happy to get in. Fun atmosphere, and we were surprised how good the wings and pizza tasted. We ordered the 42" and it fed 6 adults and one child. Plenty of food! Worth going for sure.

we have been to big lous pizza several times and recommended them to others. however, this time (or more their response) made it to where we will never recommend them again to anyone. we had ordered a 16 in pizza and garlic parm wings for carry out. When we got home and opened the wings we got a very strong smell of buffalo sauce. My husband tasted one and they tasted like spicy buffalo sauce with parm sprinkled on - which is not what we ordered. I called big lous, they put the manager on the phone. the manager wanted to argue that they did not put buffalo sauce on the wings. I asked him to hold on one second and he hung up on me. We called back, he again continued to argue about the sauce. Originally we just wanted the order replaced but he would not start a new order until we got up there - this is a busy place, we were trying to feed our kids dinner and we should not have to wait an additional hour for the correct order, IMO. so we asked for a refund on the wings. after leaving them a negative review since they did not want to replace the order right away nor give a refund (either would have been fine). They made a comment on our review hat they order mildly spicy wings from their retailer, sorry but mildly spicy wings do not smell nor taste like buffalo sauce (go check out wild wings or hooters - they get it right) they then made the decision to comment on our review that we had asked for a refund on or entire order (which we never did), and that we hung up on their manager (which we also did not do), they then decided to comment on how they bet we have never gave them a good review when we had no issues, like I said before we had recommended them several times, However, since they decided to go on our review and tell flat out lies about the situation and about us we can no longer recommend them to others.

I hope everyone here knows they dont do reservations here so either way it is a long wait to eat here

This place was recommended by a friend and a god recommendation it was. We ordered the 37" BBQ pizza and it was worth the wait. Be prepared for a wait. When we arrived, the cashier took our order, explained it would be an hour until we were seated, and once we were seated our order would go in (which would take an hour to cook). Because of the high recommendation, we accepted the wait time and we were glad we did. This was on a Wednesday night, so I can't imagine what the weekend would be like. Great food! Just be prepared to wait for it....

Delicious pizza, wings and garlic cheese bread. Lemonade was refreshing and so good. Highly recommend, just know they are busy, busy, busy. Which means they are so good.

My wife favorite place. Any time pizza is awesome. Lunch fast and good $ Dinner great relax and unformal place to eat pizza in the middle of great down town Gainesville. Good selection of beer, dog friendly. We love it

Definitely not the second best pizza place in town. Tastes like a low grade CiCi's pizza. If you're from out of town, please avoid. My company is paying for the pizza and I wouldn't even eat this for free. Harsh, yet very true.

Best pizza. Had to go to San Antonio just to come in for the pizza again. My husband went next door to get a burger (the best he's ever had he said) and was able to bring it in to eat while we had pizza. Must have if in the area!

Pizza average. Biggest call for patrons is huge size pizza not quality of pizza. Ordering with group before being able to take a seat is a nightmare. Several large groups left while we were in line because of that.

great place, great atmosphere. definitely call ahead if you plan on getting any pizza bigger then 42 inches!

Great pizza, great atmosphere. A must do with a group of people. BUT don't order the marinara sauce, unless you want it cold.

A large group of us went here and for the most part, everyone liked their food. I asked for a barbeque cheese pizza and was told I have to have meat on it. I told the girl I didn't want meat and she was insistent that I had to have meat on it. I had to explain to her that I just wanted a cheese pizza and instead of marinara, I simply wanted barbeque sauce on it. She had to turn around and talk to another girl who then had to go to the back to talk to someone else. Then, they wanted to charge me the cost of one with meat...again...no meat! Why can't you just charge me for a simple cheese pizza? They finally did. It wasn't even that great when I got it and wasn't even hot. The KICKER of our evening was watching someone kill a ROACH on the wall with the white squirt bottle, it fell on the pizza pan, they got a paper towel and picked the roach up and threw it away. I just hope that was the pile of dirty pizza pans and not the clean ones. Our waiter that night was great in spite of all of that though.

When to Big Lou's Pizza to celebrate out son's graduation from SAC. Went on Saturday May 13 with 17 family members; 7 adults, 3 teens, and the rest 5 & under. We ordered the 42" pizza half pepperoni and half cheese; no appetizers. We tried to preorder by phone but were told we could only order in the restaurant and would take 1-2 hours depending on the crowd. We came in about 12 noon and ordered. We got our pizza in 25 minutes and saw others around us get their "big" pizzas in about 10-15 minutes apart. The secret is to get there early. The pizza was good and the crust was excellent. I didn't count the number of slices, but all of us ate at least 2 to 3 slices each and we had 3 full slices left over. We had several pitchers of sodas and 2 of beer. Total $130. When we left the line had already build up. We'll surely be back!! I always wanted to come here and this occasion provide the perfect moment. Can't go wrong with Big Lou's.

Had heard about the large pizzas and decided to drop by with friends and the wife. Ordered a pizza and then the wait. Waited to be sat then waited for the order. It was a weekday night and they didn't seem too busy. Wife ordered spaghetti with a meatball. Pizza was dropped and wow, what a big pizza. We ate it up and the wife had the pasta. the pasta was over cooked and the sauce wasn't even mixed into the pasta. Spaghetti i would pass on but the pizza was pizza was good stuff. Me like.

This was a fun place to go and the service was great. Be ready to be stuffed with large portions at a great price. You can even get a 60" pizza here but you have to order and pay for it the day before. They also have a 60 oz margarita here.. The whole family loved this place the food was great, just was a little strange how the ordering goes as you order before going to seat. recommend to everyone.

We visited this past weekend while in town for our sons graduation from USAF BMT. We took him and a party of 7. We ordered a 42 inch pizza. The service was quick, the staff was friendly and efficient and the pizza was excellent. We only ate half of it so be prepared to take plenty home with you. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

Awesome and legendary ... seen this place on TV and decided to take the office there ... ordered 2 pizzas ... and did wings too! Office idea and was well worth going ... memorable and awesome too! Totally unique, nothing else like it!

Of the three times I went to San Antonio this year 2016, March, May and August I actually went to Big Lou's off 3 times. I was only able to eat the time I went in March because the other two times were so crowded I couldn't believe how packed that place was so I had to leave the other two times because I was not going to wait an hour for a table and then an hour and a half for my food. The one time I ate the service is actually great. The pizza was okay it was long it was okay. Maybe everyone just goes to see someone do that big giant pizza challenge.

We took Family from Kansas there since we had been there before and always pleased with food and service. Family was also impressed. While we were there a couple of large groups ordered the super sized pizzas and everyone was taking pictures of these giants. Great Fun!

We ordered take out pizza by phone. So glad we did! The place was PACKED. Got there at 7pm on a Friday night. Long line to be seated, even a long line to place to go orders. We were told when we called that it would take 45 minutes. That timing was on the dot. Parking lot was crowded too. Looks like a lot of locals since there were so many families. Had the medium pizza with ground beef. $16.12. Decent price. Pizza was pretty good but not a real NY style.

Lou's Pizza is one of those disappearing classic joints with stuff on the walls, great people watching, and last but not least, absolutely amazing Italian food. The pizza gets top billing, but they have everything else you'd expect in an Italian place. Finally, the employees are courteous, pro-active, and seem to love their jobs!!! Too bad I live in Pahrump, NV and not San Anotonio, TX!

A friend of mine told me about Big Lou's and I actually didn't believe them that pizzas could get any bigger than they already are. Boy, was I wrong! We got here much after the dinner rush but it was still a good 45 minutes of waiting time before we could take our pizza to go. But the wait was totally worth it. The pizza is HUGE and it's exactly how we want it (topping-wise). You can't go wrong here because you're practically customizing it yourself. I could not wait to chow down. The pizza is delicious, of course. As for customer service, it could be a little bit better but considering how there's always crowds of people here, I don't blame them to slack in this area. But I do wish there were more seating areas considering a lot of people to go their orders too. So there's lines of people just standing to get their pizzas. But other than that, this place is a treat! Bring your fat pants because you better pig out once you get here!

East side pizzeria that is always busy for a reason. A favorite of locals that serves everything you would expect from a traditional pizzeria including pasta dishes, sandwiches, pizza wraps, calzones, chicken wings, salads and pizza. They are locally and nationally famous for their 42" pizzas. I've dined here and ordered take-out many times. Never disappointed by the food flavor and quality. Only drawback to dining-in, time your visit outside peak dining times. Despite a building expansion a few years back, the place gets really busy soon after opening and at dinner time. And take note, they are closed on Mondays.

great experience huge pizza took more than 3 employees to serve it was the size of the table ( SERIOUSLY ) sooo cool everyone ate and we took like 5 pizzas home LOL 5 slices their huge slices . the drinkds were awesome great time. We would do it again !!!!

Initially thought this place was a gimmick and the pizza would taste like frozen pizza. We were definitely wrong! Big Lou's makes some of the best tasting pizza we have had. Reminded us of good old New York style pizza. We'll definitely be back and bring all our friends.

The only downside of this place is the wait... but totally worth it. i also didnt like that comsidering they have different sizes of pizzas they dont have a sample size so u can know what ur getting... except the very big one. size start at 10 in etc. so i was a bit iffy..on what size to get for 2 people knowing ther pizzas run huge. OVERALL I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF U LIKE OILY AND SOFT PIZZA.

Went there today biggest pizza I've ever seen and tasty the bread sticks best we have ever had hands down one thing only the dough under cooked would go again and do recommend

Big Lou's pizza is fabulous, the pizza is delicious, staff is friendly and the atmosphere is charming. A must go to when I'm in San Antonio!

I mean they have a 42" pizza, what else is there to say. I mean other than the service is usually decent even with long waits to get in the door and the pizza is excellent and the beer is ice cold.

It was fun experience. The pizzas are huge which makes it a fun novelty. The quality isn't bad either. Great semi-outdoor seating area. A great place for family events or when friends come to town.

We met here with several family members as it is considered an iconic pizzeria in San Antonio and was supposedly good at accommodating large groups. NOT... First of all, it is located in a very sketchy part of town so be careful not to leave valuables in your car ( which is a good idea anyway because, as a local, I can tell you the crime is horrific in this town). Second, it was EXTREMELY unorganized and VERY CHAOTIC & there was no one to help us figure out the ordering system. Basically you stand in line, wait, place your order, wait to be seated, then after you are seated, you wait some more and pray that your order comes out correctly. Ours was wrong lol lol! The pizza was good but I can't say it was "over the top" because it is average. Our salad was ok but really very average as they use the pizza toppings to supplement the lettuce. Three people in our group ordered 3 different sandwiches and 2 of them were good. Although the food is cheap here and they do have the largest pizzas in North America, this is really a novelty and a gimmick to attract crowds. Oh yeah, lest I forget, DO NOT go in the summer because they don't have air conditioning!!! OMG it was ridiculously hot in that place!! I'll skip the overrated pizza and order Dominoes next time, it just wasn't that good. š

Great food, our server was very polite. This restaurant was not in the best neighborhood but we're glad we went

I'm going to be brutally honest here. Pros It is a cool place. Has a bar, a few games and outside patio. The garlic cheese bread was phenomenal. Cons It was my wife's bday, so we took our 5 mo old there. We waited 20 min in line before a girl yelled out "next!", and looked our direction through a small doorway. It was quite confusing what she wanted us to do, as we thought we were going to be seated. After 3 (progressively louder "NEXT!"'s, we figured out we were suppose to go around the corner and walk up to a busy counter. She then told us it would be another 30 min wait in order to be seated, and we'd have to order and pay ahead of time. (I'm not sure what prevents them from low balling the estimated time, since once you've paid, you're committed.) The girl could not be more rude. The pizzas are ordered by inches instead of small, Med, large, etc..., so my wife kept asking her what a typical large pizza would be. She kept pointing to the sizes of boxes that weren't even in our view. Wasn't helpful whatsoever. You could tell she absolutely hated her job, and didn't want to be there. It made us not want to be there either. It did take about 30 min until we were seated in the even more chaotic dining area. We had our slim stroller yet the narrow walkways were completely crammed with people sitting and standing. People were in no hurry to get out of our way. Meanwhile, employees came behind us yelling "Watch out! Hot pizza coming through!!" over and over, and were looking at us as if we were holding them up. I had to yell at them to quit screaming that, as I was waiting on the rude family that couldn't care less that I couldn't get through. By the time we made it to our table, our blood pressure was so high, we had already regretted going. The pizza isn't bad, but isn't great. Thin, greasy, and meh. Cheese bread was great. It wasn't worth the confusion, chaos, and rude employees. Their egos prevent them from caring about customer service. If you have a large party to celebrate a kid's bday with the 46" meh pizza, and don't mind waiting an hour for it with rude employees, then it's for you.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch after running the Alamo 1/2 marathon, thinking this will be a quick stop before our 3 hour drive home. We arrived 15 minutes after the restaurant opened at noon. The line was wrapped 1/2 way around the building. We waited 1 hour to get a table. The server took about 10-15 minutes before taking our order(cheese bread, 1 dozen wings, and 2 personal pizzas). I understand the restaurant was busy, but it took 15-20 minutes to get our drinks (and I was dying of thirst). About 10 minutes later he brings the cheese bread, but no wings. Other tables were getting their appetizers and pizza, but nothing for us. After waiting another 30 minutes (a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes), we had to ask another waiter (who was bring food to his tables) where our food was (because our server was MIA). He said he would check and brought out our pizzas, but said he was waiting on the wings (which makes me think our server never placed the order - even though he said it was coming). After eating 1/2 our pizzas, the wings finally came out (only to have 9 instead of 12 in the bowl). At that point, I wasnāt even going to say anything. Not sure if the kitchen staff didnāt like our server or whether he was just new (he kept apologizing every time he came to our table). Maybe if we had the other server my review would be better. The food was good, the staff was nice, but I donāt think it was worth the nearly 3 hours that we spent there. There needs to be better management and workflow. The servers were cleaning tables instead of serving and focusing on their customers. There should have been dedicated cleaning staff (so tables could be turned around and customers could be seated more quickly). It seemed odd the poor servers were running around frantically trying to do everything while the 2 people taking pictures of customers were just standing around.

Went here with my sister and her family--there was a total of 9 people. We didn't even order the biggest pizza, but even so, it was huge! Took up the whole table. Pizza was good, maybe not the best I've ever eaten but not the worst by any means. Very crowded--took us a while before we could get seated. That was probably the only con. Also, I did order a pasta dish and it took forever. I believe they might have forgotten that order in the chaos.

i have not been to big lou's pizza in a while and three of us went on friday night. they expanded the restaurant substantially and it was very crowded. the have a speedy system how you place your order and then seat you. i suggest that you go before 7.00 pm and take advantage of there happy hour. the waiter was very efficient and checked with us periodically to see if needed something else. oh yes, our pizza was very tasty. you have your choice between 12" and 42" sizes and they are well priced.(the 42" pizza made it on the food network.) the place is very noisy and family friendly. we were seated promptly but i understand there is sometimes a waiting time. we will be back soon

Big Lou's has great pizza, calzones, and I had their meat lasagna! Was crowed but didn't take long at at to be seated. Staff was very polite and courteous. Would definitely come here again. If you love pizza, this is the place to get your fix. If you are really hungry bring the family and dive into their massive 42" pizza.

Great food and atmosphere. Pizza is huge! alot of variety. Can feed a small village. Great for big groups or just have a craving for some good pizza!

My family was in town for the livestock show and so many people were talking about this place. We got there and saw all the signs for 2 hour waits, but decided we would wait. It was a weekend, but it didnāt take 2 hours at all! They have the ordering system pretty organized, but we were starving by the time we sat down. (Your order isnāt started until you are seated even though you wait in line to place it when you first arrive.) We highly recommend ordering an appetizer! When we received our pizza (we didnāt order one of the huge ones for 3 of us) we were pleasantly surprised! It looks thin, but the flavor is great! The crust is good, too! I would definitely go back when we go to San Antonio again!

Stopped here as we arrived in San Antonio to start our vacations. After a five hour drive, we were all hungry so this was the perfect place. Friendly service, great atmosphere and great pizza.

Went for a family graduation party. They had reserved ahead for 14 adults 30 kids. We were all from out of town. We ordered the biggest pizza they had a and 42 inch pizza and still had left overs! This is an experience you must try at least once. There is such a wow factor when seeing pizza this big and slices too big for the plate. Slices were so big it is the 1st time I could barely eat a whole slice of pizza. Pizza dough was a little too soft for my liking but overall it was an amazing experience. I did see a line of people waiting to be seated but it wasnt long. We went at 9pm on a Sat and the place was packed. I would definitely go again and it a great place for family events.

The pizza was huge and fed a family of 12 with half a pizza left over. The price was fare. There was a pretty long wait, only downside.

It was a little disconcerting waiting in a very long line for quite a while, but we were glad we persevered. Once we were able to place our order, we were seated and Kim, our server, took great care of us. The pizza was amazing - the crust was so yummy! I usually don't eat my crusts but I didn't leave any part of my slices on my plate! The toppings were excellent! We didn't get a 60" pizza, but the table beside ours did... it was huge! For as busy as the place it, it was fairly clean; even the ladies' room was clean and well stocked despite the busyness of the locale. Definitely an extra star for that!

Dropped in the other day for a birthday party around 6pm and this place was packed. When I first drove up and saw the large parking lot filled with cars I knew it was going to be interesting. You come right in and wait in the line to get to the counter to order as you cannot order at the table. Drinks or food no difference. Note if you say you are in a large group, you will be hit with a service charge even if you arrived by yourself. The pizza will take awhile on busy hours but I noted that other items like salads, breads and wings did not take as long to arrive so you may want to consider doing that. There are a large number of large tables in here so they can handle just about any size group. It can get cramped with the proximity of neighboring tables so be prepared for that and have patience. The food is decent and the long slender metal trays are there for a reason. I was puzzled about that choice of "plate" until I saw just how big these pizzas really were. Some of the slices are what appear to be at least 18 inches long. The pizza is not like pizza hut pizza or new york style but it is decent enough. In a sense what we have here is really more of a novelty. The hot wings are not as hot as they claim if you are strong with the spice. I went with the habanero hot and was barely warm in my opinion. What is sad is it seems I was charged an extra 1.99 for a hot that was not really hot. Big Lou's is easy to see from the road so you don't have to worry about blinking and missing it. The crowd starts to ease off around 8pm. They have many birthdays in here so expect a number of Happy Birthday songs to be sung. If you like beer, you will not leave thirsty.

We had so much fun at big lous. We had 5 adults 2 kids and got the 37 inch. We couldnt finish it! It was so delicious. The staff was nice and despite them being busy it took just about 45 minutes or so to get our pizza. We will definitely be back!

Pizza was GREATā¦.. but they overchargeā¦. They charge a 1.00 for waterā¦. A service fee for parties of 10 or more..(for each ticket at the table) Mind you my family and I came after our family had finished eatingā¦. Then they charge you a credit card feeā¦. They nickel and dime you to stay in businessā¦. Then they expect you to give a tipā¦.

Pizza is always awesome and super tasty! Staff is pretty nice and accommodating as well. But beware, this restaurant is ALWAYS busy and packed with customers. Make sure you allot some extra time for dinner if you go here, since you will most likely be waiting a while for a table, but the pizza is well worth the wait!

Go all in for their bar-be-cue! But it can be a long wait. Try to get there early, good timing can avoid the queue. jstrudell

Ordered 4 large takeout pizzas. The pizzas were ready in 20 minutes. We had the sausage, pepperoni, and cheese. They were all delicious. New York style pizza at its finest. We will definitely visit Big Louās Pizza again.

A friend had recommended that we eat here, which I thought was odd, considering San Antonio has BBQ and tex mex...why would we want to eat pizza? I'm so glad we did! We ordered a white pizza, which was amazingly delicious! The pepperoni pizza was good too. The wings...the tastiest and meatiest I have ever had! I'd go back just for those! I really got a kick out of the option for buying soda in a pitcher. Something from my childhood that I don't see replicated anymore. We watched a Cowboys game while eating, so it felt right that we were there. Lol! The only reason why I didn't give Big Lou's 5 stars is because the young lady behind the counter didn't appear to know what she was doing. I don't know if she was a new employee, or if the busyness overwhelmed her. She was slow and didn't communicate as to what the issue was. Our server was great, constantly checking on us to see how we were doing, but not in an annoying way. We will definitely be back when we return to San Antonio!

We waiting in line for an hour to order our food, not a problem we expected it to be a long wait. We finally made it to the counter to order, we ordered 1 10" pizza and 2 12" pizzas and the lady looked up and said not all that will fit on your table. I was like so sit us at a different table? It was the weirdest thing ever. With that being said I'm assuming they have a table for us. Nope, you wait in line, order, and then wait another 45min to get a table. It was so packed and ended up being told we had to wait outside. Uhhhh it's 105 outside and I would have taken my order to go had I known this. In fact we even went back to the counter to ask about taking our order to go and were told we already ordered dine in so if we wanted it to go we would have to wait on our table and the ask for boxes. By the time we finally got seated I was so hot and grouchy that I didn't even want to eat. Now the positive. The pizza was amazing! best we have ever had. Will go here again but will call in an order to go.

I drove from Fort Worth to SA with only two things on my list. The riverwalk and this place I heard about. When we arrived (7/30/17) at Big Lou's it was full and there was lots of people. A police officer in uniform was helping with the round but he had the charisma of a correction officer. He looked at us as if we were trying to skip the line and quickly pointed us to the end of the line outside. The line was so long that half the people were inside the building and half were outside. As I walked towards the end of the line he began yelling at other customers because they were waiting in line with the door open. We (party of eight) where in the line for 45 minutes. When we reached the front of the line a guy that was there told me: "you have to come this way and order here" pointing us to the register. We became confused and moved out of our place but quickly realize we needed to wait until you were called so as we went back to the front of the line the police officer began chewing us out because he thought we were skipping the line again. Thank God the other people in line vouched for us. He then began to yell at everyone in line to back up so we could stand in front behind the line. Everyone was uncomfortable. The group behind us was upset. Seriously he was treating people the way he is used to treating suspects. After that 45 minute wait we were taken to a register where we were told that it would take 45 minutes to get a table and then another 45-60 minutes to get our food. Unfortunately we did not have that kind of time since we had already waited close to an hour and we were starving and had other places to be. I politely told her we were not going to be able to stay but I wanted to share with her how bad the police man treated us. Two employees were listening and as soon as one of them realize I was sharing a complaint she toned out. The other one listen to me with as much interest as my teenage kid has in doing laundry. She said I will let them know. They may have great pizza and it may be worth the wait but on the day I went they didn't seem to care about their customers.

Placed a pick up order on a Thursday night when it was less busy, but it took over an hour to get it. However to be fair, it was fresh and tasty. They were apologetic and offered a 2 liter of soda as service recovery. We don't drink soda, but that was thoughtful. We ordered a medium which was the size of a large at most other places. $16.00 for a medium pepperoni pizza after tax.

The restaurant is not fancy- huge, lighting not he best, very noisy. They are very busy. Our server was not very good-hardly checked up on us. The food was good but nothing special and the prices were about average. The only claim to fame I see at this restaurant was if you order there very large 37 inch Pizza. There are much better Pizza Joints around the Country and the World than this one. Nothing wrong here but nothing special either!

Great pizza. Very casual. Great for large groups. Must go if you are ever in town. Order ahead for their extreamly large pizzas. The wings were just average but you cannot go wrong with the pizza. Everything was very fresh.

We were in San Antonio for competition and decided to try Big Louās. We were very surprised! The decor does not remind you of a pizza place. It is kind of eclectic. We were there on a Thursday about 6:30 and there was about an hour wait for larger parties ( only two of us and took about 10 minutes. We ordered a 16ā pepperoni and meatball and it was fantastic! The crust was crisp, sauce wasnāt to sweet. The service was great also. Definitely recommend!

I visited this place in March while on a business trip with my job. I absolutely loved the place. The atmosphere was fun, the staff was friendly, the pizza was huge and it tastes fantastic. I enjoyed it so much, I took my children back there during Spring Break in April and they loved it. We got a 30 inch and it was massive!! The look on my children's faces were hilarious at the size of the pizza. We did not get to finish the pizza at all.

After visiting the famous Big Lou's Pizza I was very disappointed. Seeing the manager her self poor liquor as well as the famous Big Lou's punch in 4 to go cups for a customer to take. They serve their patrons beyond what they should with alcoholic beverages. The cashiers are very rude and the food is always cold, Not to mention the restrooms....FILTHY PLACE!!!!

So, we just moved to the area and we were told this place has good pizza. Well, the pizza is good if you have 25 kids to feed who don't really care about how the pizza actually tastes. We had a table of 25 kids beside us and they devoured a 60 inch pizza like it was a plate full of sugar! The pizza is AVERAGE at best. I honestly could've saved the gas money and ate Digornio at home and been more satisfied with that pizza. You order first and then they call your name to be seated. If there are 1000 people standing in the door way when you arrive, good luck figuring out where the line ends and begins. There was a young lady working who was wearing tight white shorts and constantly having to pull them out of her rear end. Pretty young lady just not what I want to see at a restaurant. Again, birthday parties, soccer teams, family outings, sure why not. But don't go here if you're expecting GOOD local pizza because it's not that in my opinion and I've had pizza from all over the world. Ohh and one last thing, the pizza was loaded with an ungodly amount of cheese.

The pizza was awesome. Order some wings and they were some of the best wings I've ever had. They were crazy busy and the line is unorganized. They had a pizza so big a guy carried it over his head. If you are kidless it looked like a good place to chill and eat and drink with friends. We had our kids so we ordered to go but I wish I would have had a couple drinks, maybe next time. Great pizza and wings.

We went to Big Lou's on a Thursday at 6 p.m. and our group of 9 was seated very promptly after ordering. I have been there when it's been crazy and admittedly the set-up is a bit confusing the first time you go. We ordered the 37" pepperoni pizza and it was great! Here's a little hint if you are a military service member order 2 20" pizzas to get your military discount as they don't offer the discount on the larger pizzas. I know it kind of takes away from getting your picture with a pizza slice the size of a small child, but it could save some serious cash. Anyway, service has always been great for us no matter the size of our party and the pizza is consistently good! Until we meet again Lou! (Mandatory shot of giant pizza included)

Good food and GIANT portions. Honestly, the place is more of a novelty. Be prepared to wait at least two hours during a weekend visit. Of course, order the giant pizza. Spaghetti is okay and pizza is not something you will crave but if you have kids....this stop is a must for you.

The food in this restraunt is like nothing you have ever eaten. the pizza wraps are so good, i would recommend them to anyone coming through town. the staff is friendly and you cant help but laugh and smile while here, and by the time you leave you feel like family.

We went as a group to order the famous 42 inch pizza (along with a smaller vego pizza and a garlic bread). All of the food was great - definitely some of the best pizza I've ever had (and plenty left over for lunch the next day which was a bonus)! We were however disappointed in the over use of single use plastic and polystyrene... plastic forks, cups and straws was a bit of a let down, especially in our current environmental climate. The staff were friendly enough but didn't seem too happy to be there, and were hard to distinguish as the majority were very casually dressed and messy... (it was two days out from xmas so i'm sure they'd rather be with family but still.... )

I went to Big Lou's during spring break weekend on a Saturday night around 9 PM. The restaurant was packed as expected but we were seated within 30 minutes. I was with two adults, four teenagers and one five-year-old. We ordered the 37 inch pizza and two orders of the mild hot wings. The food took about an hour from the time we walked in the door. The cost was about $70 dollars for the pizza and wings. I also had two Ultra Beers that cost $3. The 7 of us ate about 3/4 of it. Overall a great experience for some fun!

We enjoyed the pizza we got at Big Lou's but the wait time for a table and our food is much too long and parking is very difficult.

I had heard alots of this place and finnally got to try It and it was as good as they say. Best pizza I ever had. It is a fun place to go too. People very friendly

We went here to try the HUGE pizza that we had seen advertised. Our group had 12 people in it and we were worried about getting seated since they do not take reservations. When we got there we only waited about five minutes before they were able to seat us. I liked how when you walked in they took your order before seating you. This meant that we had little time at the table waiting for food. When the pizza arrived we were shocked at the size of it! People were coming over to our table to take pictures of it. Unbelievable. We were worried that with the size of the pizza the quality would not be so great... we were wrong. The pizza was absolutely delicious. The amount of cheese they put on it is just perfect and the dough they use is beyond words. I would definitely recommend coming here even if it is just for a slice or two. They also have salads if you want to stay on the healthier side which are great as well.

Service isnāt the best, cozy environment with cool drinks. Pizza was okay but not my cup of tea. This would be more jaw dropping if we ordered the $100 pizzas. Seeing those were amazing

Although the line was long, the wait was short! We absolutely love the bbq brisket pizza! Pizza was hot and we did not have to wait longer than 15 minutes for 2, 20 inch pizzas!

The wait was not as long as we were told - they move you through the line quickly. It was amazing to see what a 62 inch pizza pan looked like (and it takes 30 pounds of toppings!). Even the 42" pizza was huge! Our pizza tasted great and we had a good server too who very willingly took photos of our group.

Found this googling pizza places in San Antonio. They are amazing. First great pizza. It is cheesy and what I would call hand tossed. Service was wonderful. Marissa our server was friendly, helpful, and had a great personality. Exactly the kind of server you would want. Third is their specialty. They have HUGE pizzas. We saw a pizza that was over 40"! And on certain days they cook a 62". I would give LOU's 6 stars if possible.

Our son recommended Big Louās Pizza for our usual Sunday family outing. Iāve not heard of this place and questioned his judgment due to his eclectic adventurous taste. As we pulled into their Chucky cheese size parking lot, I knew this was something different. The building was quite large and there was a line of families out the door. Once inside I estimate fifty or more tables, some round, some square. Larger round tables seat 6-8 people. They also have outdoor seating, though Iām not into eating outdoors. Inside and like most other pizza parlors, bolted to the wall were various sized aluminum pie plates. Pie sizes range from 10-inch to 42-inch. Think about that. The diameter of their largest is 42-inches. Their largest pizza is 6-inches larger than a yardstick. That is one big pizza! No we did not buy the 42-incher, but we did buy two 20-inch meat lovers, something they call the āSuper Topperā. We also ordered their smallest baked bone-in party wing platter, 48-wings. I would say Big Louās Pizza is great for locals. However, if youāre a tourist and crunched for time you may be able to find a better though not bigger adventure elsewhere. Big Louās Pizza is excellent for end of game little league gatherings. Had I known about this place when I was coaching, Big Louās would have been our teamās weekend destination.

Went the first night with a big group and seating was an issue. Went back the next night with just 4 and was seated very quick. The cheese bread and dipping sause was so yummy. Our pizza was very very good. I would say if going go early. It is worth the time. If you have to be back to base at Lackland by curfew the make it a lunch visit. But so worth the wait. I will go back again next time I am in SA

After waiting 45 minutes to get to the order desk we were told that seating for our party of 13 would be at least another 90 to 120 minutes ! Unacceptable even if it were free. While in line we passed several signs stating that Big Lou expected you to be done at your table once seated within a 2 hour time limit -- but there were no signs stating that parties in excess of a certain number would require extensive additional wait times. Additionally, there were at lease 4 large tables open for a period of at least 30 minutes without being cleaned while other large parties were made to wait--- not to mentioned that when we asked about outside seating we were told there was a bee problem outside. Apparently Big Lou could care less about customers and wait times or he would have had the bee problem corrected when first noticed. There were also signs for help wanted -- they need it but if they are having a problem with getting and keeping help maybe they should pay more -- certainly their pizza prices would allow more than minimum pay ! I noticed the line moving rapidly the last 30 minutes we waited --- I thought that was great until I realized that the reason for the rapid motion was there were several other large parties in front of us that refused to wait the additional 1 1/2 to 2 hours additional for a table. Big Lou apparently can afford to keep turning away large groups that is until some one opens up a similar restaurant that is well run instead of haphazardly -- I'm a visitor to San Antonio but surly there is some one in San Antonio who wants to open up a better version of Big Lou's . Additionally, I noticed all types of debris in the main hallway -- straw wrappers, food, spills napkins and not one employee picking things up as they passed --- what would OSHA have to say may they should they should visit the kitchen and passage was during busy times. It might be both eye opening and fine time ! Very disappointed at the fact that management takes the customer's patience for granted --- Papa John's was the benefactor of a 7 pizza order at Big Lou's expense for less that wee would have spent at Big Lou's. Nothing is that good to tolerate poor shoddy management and treatment of customers---- nothing --- Wake up San Antonio ! DEMAND BETTER SERVICE !

This place was very good. We had to drive about 30 min to get there but was worth the wait. Kids loved seeing the giant pizza and ours was great as well.

Big Lou's serves em up BIG! These are the biggest pizza's I've seen in my life & probably the biggest I'll ever see! But it doesnt stop at the size, Big Lou's is big on options, big on flavour & big on charm.

Visited with family including young children on a chilly December ā22 evening. Ample parking and seating. Staff was very friendly and nice. It was a little chilly inside but that could be due to the extremely cold weather. Ordered 6 cups of tap water, 3 kids Hawaiian Punch ( unfortunately no juice option for kids), brisket garlic cheese sticks, 12 bbq wings, and 20ā cheese pizza which came out to $69.78. Here is where things are just weird, you are charged a fee for using credit card and $1 for every cup of water. Iāve never seen that before at a restaurant before and I eat out often. The food came out pretty quickly and was good temperature. W ins were solid as was the brisket garlic cheese sticks. The pizza which is the star of the shore was good but not great to my particular taste. I love NY style pizza and the sauce was a tad under flavored to my liking and the crust could be a little more crispy to hold its form. I recognize that is a hard thing to accomplish with the humongous sizes they serve but that is my standard for a world class pizza. Overall not a bad option for pizza but I recommend a place without the additional fees.

Wanna make an impression on the family, especially with the kids, go here. Make sure you make reservations. The pizza is okay but the quality time is worth it. O by the way, take something to pass the time while you wait for your pizza because you will wait.

Amazing. Tasted great. Good for a family get together. Kind of noisey. They donāt lie when they say big. The big pizza chould feed my party of 19.

We waited in the line for about 20 minutes before our order was taken. And we were seated quickly. The person who took our order apparently forgot to turn our ticket in though. The wait was around 15 minutes. The pizza was good and more than enough food. The waitress was very efficient about keeping us updated on our order.

On 6/5/21, saw this restaurant on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. Went to San Antonio for husband birthday & Thanksgiving Family trip & HAD to make this a part of the trip. The line to eat inside was insane, so we had to do the order take out option. Let's just say, it was soooo worth the wait. Not greasy, full of flavor & perfectly cooked. Will definitely be back at next TX visit.

We went for the incredible awesome pizza (recommend the beef briscuit). But also you must munch on wings while waiting.

First time visit so we had to order the 42 inch! Wowzers! Our kids eyes were as big as that pizza when they brought it to our table. We went on a Friday night at 6:00 pm and we got right in, ordered and seated. It took about an hour to get our pizza, but it was worth it. Pizza and service was great! Good experience! Bring your appetite!

The pizzas are huge. We at a 42 inch between 9 of us and didn't finish. We love wings and there's are among the top 5 we have tried. The beer which we love with pizza and wings are nicely priced the 32oz are great. A must try at least a few times in Life

Pizza was really good...unless you want a crispy dry pizza. The kids love the huge pizza and slices. Really busy thou... so if you don't like crowds....it might NOT be the place for you..

Went with family and friends to celebrate two graduations. Ordered the GIANT 47" pizza because one of the grads had heard about the giant pizza and wanted to try it. Service was pretty quick and the pizza came quick also. It was GIANT with each slice served on a 24" long plate and the slice stretched from end to end. Thankfully there were 10 of us but we still had plenty to take home. I have had better pizza but this really was not bad at all! Considering the size, it was cooked well and was lot's of fun to eat and a great photo op for the family and friends!

After reading several reviews; we were prepared to come stand in a long line. To our surprise the line was very short, & we were seated within 10 mins of ordering. Atmosphere was great, place was pretty much full, Our pizza was brought to us with 15mins. Had a great time!

Ordered the 42ā pizza. It was not crispy but cold and soggy. I think it was because of the size maybe?!?! Wings were really good! The staff was overwhelmed. Didnāt get drink refills timely which was frustrating with the amount of people we had in our party. Perhaps they do pitchers on the tables or soda machines to eliminate this issue. Overall an average experience but I would give it another go.

This is a must visit in San Antonio. You have never seen a pizza like this. Its as big as a bathtub and flavorful and delicious. Folks wait for hours to get in and get this pizza. Full bar in the back as you wait for this crazy big pizza. Bring family and friends as you will need them all for this spectacular event in pizza.

11 adults and 6 kids. 42 inch pizza and beverages. Everything is bigger in Texas and the pizza was actually good. Locals and tourists will both enjoy. NO seating until you order and whole group is there.

The best pizza, ANYWHERE! The ingredients are fresh and the crust is epic. WE TRIED THE Big Lou and IT WAS HUGE. It is one of the few family-owned restaurants that are doing well.

Seriously 2 hours for a pizza. I called and asked if we could pre order it and offered to pay. They said no. I said I can't drive over an hour and bring 13 people there for you to tell me it's a 2 hour wait...we will go somewhere else

So we did the 42 in pizza!! It was huge to say the least and yet still quite tasty!! There was 12 people in our party and we had about 6 leftover slices.

Thought the pizza was good on a nice thin crust and the slices are huge. Downsize is the cost more than 60 bucks for the largest pizza. You pay for the experience. Found it extremely loud so it was hard to hear everyone in the party. Worth the try for special occasion.

I very rarely give a terrible review and I eat out A LOT...like 7 nights a week. We tried to visit this place on a Friday a couple of weeks ago, and the line was very long. We decided to come back on a Sunday and knew from our previous visit that the line goes out the back door. We walked through the back door and got in line. There was a SHERIFF's officer making sure no on held the door open or blocked the white lines in the hall. Weird. As the line moved forward, so did we. The foursome in front of us went up to the counter and we followed suit. It was VERY unclear what to do. We stood behind some people ordering and then the cashier to our right shouted "Next in line!" So we scooted over to her. She asked us if we waited in line and we explained we had, this is our first time here. She was questioning us because she didn't see us come around the corner. Then, as we were ordering the SHERIFF, with the loaded gun on his hip and in full uniform, came up behind us and asked us if we waited in line. I snapped and told him, "yes, and she's already given us the fifth degree." Yes, I realize I said fifth degree but I was MAD. Don't question my integrity because you were running around and not paying attention and NOT doing your job which is APPARENTLY escorting people to the counter to order or giving them the go ahead. I still don't know what the right way is to order. If you go, you should take a white flag with you and maybe some bail money, because they may treat you like a criminal like they did us. Are taxpayers really paying for a SHERIFF to guide people to a pizza ordering line?!?! Insane. There were plenty of people walking around in Big Lou's shirts doing seemingly nothing...empty hands. We were told to wait to be seated, after ordering and paying for our food. We were not given a time frame. My husband went to the bar, because even though we had ordered two cokes at the counter, a beer was warranted after being treated like dirt. Did I mention no one apologized to us? After only two minutes, a woman seated us and I had to grab my husband from the bar. For twenty minutes we sat there before a server asked us,"Has your server been with you?" No. We had no cokes, and I had sent my husband to the bar to get me something to drink. After 30 minutes we got our cokes, and after 45 minutes we got our two ten inch pizzas. The pizza was good...more cheese than sauce. I prefer more sauce. It wasn't worth being treated so poorly and being ignored for so long. I won't be back. Oh, and we had nothing on our table, but an uncapped bottle of hot sauce. The surrounding tables had napkin dispensers, red pepper flakes, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. See photo.

What an amazing place to gather with family or friends. This restaurant offers pizza, wings, spaghetti, burgers, salads, and much more.

Busy place, we visited in the middle of a Friday afternoon. Pizza was excellent with a good quantity of toppings. Considering we visited on an off time, i would give yourself plenty of time during busy hours.

I called to make sure the 2 hour drive would be for nothing and was assured there would be long lines but told come on down. After driving two hours and waiting in line for just a few minutes we made it to the front of the line. Before taking our order - I walked around and saw lots of empty tables. After about 10 minutes of the girls behind the counter talking we were told it would be an hour and even though they were taking our order for us to pre-pay we were told it would be two (2) hours before we would get our pizzas. Pretty odd way to do business in my opinion. Seems odd so we all decided to leave. Group of 5 is all we had.

First, we love Big Lou's when we eat there in person but we reside in Schertz, TX so we were excited to see we could have it delivered through Uber Eats who we have a membership with. Unfortunately, we have now attempted to have it delivered on a few occassions however, because of the distance and the fact the delivery people DO NOT use warmer bags to keep the food fresh and warn it's been delivered cold on the few occasions we've ordered food from here. The peticular order on 07/13/2024 was not only cold however but the food quality itself was well elbow Big Lou's standards. The large peperoni pizza was dry, hardly no cheese and very little peperoni and the calzone was hardly recognizable as a calzone and was in three parts and No Marinaro was included so it was uneatable. Very very disappointed in quality and it will be last time to order delivery of Big Lou's through Uber Eats. D. Huston Schertz, TX

We were on our way to San Antonio River Walk and stop at Big Louās Pizza on a Saturday for a late lunch. Big Louās is our go to location when visiting San Antonio. The restaurant was not packed, and we did not have to wait to order the pizza. They have made some changes so we asked several. The lady at the counter assumed we knew everything about the menu. She wasn't rude, but you could tell she was annoyed. There was no need to rush us because there was no one waiting to order. They could avoid this if they allow customers to order at the table. If you pay with a card, you'll have to leave a tip before getting seated. Our group was 10 people. We ordered the 42ā pepperoni extra cheese pizza. It did not take long to get the pizza ready. The staff clean the tables with disposable wipes instead of using the same dirty rag that other restaurants tend to do. I appreciated that level of cleanliness. The pizza was huge and delicious. The crust was thin and perfectly cooked. The combination of the sauce and the cheese was very flavorful but not overbearing. We were satisfied. There were some extra slices that we took to our hotel. Our server was nice and friendly, not like the lady at the front counter. Overall it was a great and tasty experience. Good place good location plenty of parking, perfect place to have fun with a group. They just need to have better customer service in the front and have more patience or let people order at the table. We would come back.

I came here while visiting San Antonio from Dallas, TX due to a recommendation. I heard that the pizzas were massive and delicious as well. Turns out rumor was true! We didn't get a huge pizza (saw two at two tables) , but I enjoyed every bit of our 16" along with the wings. Big Lou and company takes pride in their products even down to the flavored crust of the pizza. My family and I actually dined here twice due to the delicious pizza. This will definitely be our pizza joint when I come back to San Antonio

Shocked to saybtge least. We had. Agroup and opted dor a vouole 42" pizzas...OMG! The slices are arm length. I had no idea. It is a great group gathering spot and my Lucky Lous margarita was a great treat as well.

I got to know about this place through one of my colleague and always wanted to go here with group of people. So on my daughter's 3rd birthday I decided to celebrate here and invite my family. Some good and bad experience are below: GOOD: 1) They allowed us to bring some cupcakes which my wife made and some Bd deco stuff 2) order was delivered within 40 min as they said 3) waitress who assisted us was kind, gentle and prompt. She even gave us some free refreshment as the refreshment we ordered took a while and we had to ask twice for it. 4) Most important: The huge pizza for which we all went, not only the size was astonishing (everyone was amazed to see it), the taste is also great. BAD: 1) As soon as we walked in, one waiter who was carrying large pan of pizza bumped to my 3 year old daughter accidentally. Though it was accident but I guess they have to be careful when you are carrying such large stuff and knowing the fact that its crowded place so they need to be extra cautious. 2) You cant reserve the table in advance unless you are ordering the largest pizza in their restaurant for which you have to do the booking 2 weeks in advance. We were wise enough to reach 1 hour before our guests, so we stood in line and ordered the food. By the time guest came in, the food was ordered and we got the table. Overall extremely satisfied and highly recommended.

Best pizza place ever! The atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly and very attentive. There is a bit of a wait time but it's completely worth it. Definitely will be back again!

We were in town for a cheer competition and was told Big Lou's was a must. We got there Friday around 730pm it was crazy how busy. Was told a hour wait to get table then hour for food. Which was fine. It was fun looking at all the pictures and plaques on walls. We ordered the cheesy garlic bread which was hot and steaming with cheese. Then got a 20in pepperoni. The pizza slices were huge. We have a family of 5 and had 4 slices left over. We would definitely go back.

We ordered the 20ā pizza. The pizza was pepperoni. The crust is thin and the pizza was delicious! The atmosphere was fun.

It was just me & my wife on a weekend getaway do we did not get the jumbo pizza but the large, 16", pizza was more that enough & very good!! Their method of paying was strange to us, pay when ordering food & from the bar, but other then that, everything was as you would expect from an open sports bar type venue!!

Recently held our monthly Texas Cadillac V-series Performance car club meet here. Everything was perfect. Food is was all fresh, quick, and overall excellent. Staff was very attentive and never left anyone waiting for anything. Plenty of room for Large Groups, but show up early. Best part we found out Lou has a Cadillac CST-V.....maybe club sponsorship in the future Big Lou? ;) haha

The place was packed but we were seated in about 10 minutes after ordering. The big pizza came 20 minutes later which was great because we had a side salad and wings. The wings were awesome too !!!

The pizza was huge! We had 11 people and the big pizza delivered enough for all of us to be able to eat on it. Even after a football game it did the trick for everyone's hunger. The taste and quality was really good considering the size of the pizza, would've thought the pizza wouldn't be quite as good but it was as good as the smaller versions and was cooked all the way through which I'd think would be next to impossible. Thanks Big Lou's!!

Thanks for the no heads up about being closed on New Year's Day. Would be nice if you could at least put it on your website. Came in from out of town to see what the hype was all about, but drove to Big Lou's for nothing. Think maybe next time I an in town I won't even try. Happy New Year's.

We visited Big Lou's pizza while we were in San Antonio for spring break. We had seen it on man vs food so we had to visit. It really didn't disappoint. We got the 36 inch pizza which was huge but when are you going to see that again. Not only was it huge but it was so good too!! We would definitely go back again if we visit Texas again.

So usually I shy away from places like this because they are so touristy BUT this place has hands down some of the best pizza I have ever had. The slices are large and they are very very good. Just a forewarning though the wait is rather long but you can call ahead and order.

The pizza is huge and could feed a small village. We really enjoyed this visit. There seems to always be a wait, but it is worth it. The pizza was wonderful and an experience to have this monster come to the table. Even the leftover box is huge. Fun for everyone.

May not look like the greatest place but it is good pizza and the staff is great. The lines tend to be long but the service really goes pretty quick. Our airmen that we had with us devoured the pizza and bread sticks.

My husband and I decided to go to Big Lou's Pizza and try this blue plate award as they advertised on TV. We ordered the 20 in. pepperoni pizza with extra pizza sauce at the drive up. The server said it will take an hour to pick up the pizza. We came to pick it up and decided to eat in the car in the parking lot. We start to eat the pizza and noticed it was cold, no extra sauce as requested, few slices of whole pepperoni slices and the rest looked like it was torn in half with their fingers. I asked them to remake the pizza and offered to give the one they originally gave us even though we ate a few slices. I offered to take the pizza back to them and the server said no and we will remake it. The server asked where we were located and we told her in the parking lot. The server and a male server came to our car and wanted the already eaten pizza that is almost full. They both came back about 20 min. gave back the original pizza and did not remake it. We are very disappointed we did not get the right pizza we originally ordered. Worst customer service with younger people there who don't care and know about customer service, management who don't care and worst pizza ever!!! Very bad experience. Don't ask for extras when you are paying for it because you won't get it. We will not be coming back.

Tried the Brisket Pizza it was to die for! Made with tender brisket and homemade BBQ sauce, and a side of pickle slices... The crust had the perfect crunch and just the right amount of toppings! The brisket pizza was featured on Man vs Food! This place is known for having the largest pizza in Texas... The Big Lou 62" pizza! A little too big for me and a friend, but I'll defiantly give it a try when I round up a few more friends! This place is a must try!

This is my favorite pizza spot when I visit San Antonio. It's the first stop I make when visiting. Pizza is delicious and depending the size you order the slices can be big. The wings are yummy and the margaritas are yummy.

It was our first time here. Cashier was rude. Didn't greet us. Threw the menu down on the counter and said order from here. When asked if we would order a 20 inch pizza or bigger and replied no, we were given an ugly look. Waiter was friendly and very attentive. Pizza was great. Would have enjoyed the ambience more had we been greeted warmly.

I had the Italian sub and hubby had the spicy sausage spaghetti. Both were very good, itās the atmosphere we didnāt enjoy. Waaay too dark, dingy and bathrooms were gross.

Great service and good pizza!! Son graduated the BMT for the Air Force. We would eat here again. Be prepared to spend at least $100 for a family of six, there was plenty of leftovers.

My family came to my house for Christmas 2021. This was my three nephews (ages 10, 12, and 17) first visit to Texas. We went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas and afterwards, we went to Big Louās Pizza for dinner. When my nephews learned we could get a pizza as big as the table, they were so excited. We talked to our waiter and decided we would order a 37 inch pizza. My nephews only like pepperoni pizza, so we got 3/4 of the pizza pepperoni and 1/4 of the pizza sausage and pepperoni. I like that Big Louās Pizza will let you customize a fourth of the pizza. My Brother and I had the sausage and pepperoni pizza. When the pizza came out, the look on my nephews faces was priceless. When I got a slice I was shocked at how large it was. We all really enjoyed the pizza and the service at Big Louās Pizza was fantastic.

My family of 6 decided to check out this BIG pizza. We went on a Friday during the summer. The wait was not as long as I had planned for. It took about 45 min to order, 20 min to be seated and by the time the waiter brought the drinks, our 37" was being served. The pizza was awesome and service was timely. We enjoyed ourselves and had enough left over for breakfast!

Heard about this on so many websites, that we made it a must stop on our trip to San Antonio. Arrived around 7pm, to what was a 20 people deep queue. This did move relatively quickly, but was slowed down by people who didn't know what they were ordering or had trouble paying etc. as you'd order before being seated. We ordered about 20 minutes or so later. We got a 'all toppings' pizza and a meatball spaghetti, with some soft drinks to wash it down. A long wait later (30 minutes), and our food arrived. Pizza was lovely, with just enough dough to the amount of toppings. All of it was very well presented with an even spread of toppings on what was evidently a handmade pizza. Dry at the base, and very flavoursome. The pasta wasn't bad, but could not compete with the quality of the pizza. I'm from London where there is a large Italian population, who all make very good pasta. This one doesn't compare. Not bad, but not great either. Was very much a dollop of spaghetti, a couple of meatballs, with another dollop of tomato sauce on top. I'd recommend just sticking to the pizza if you come here, as this is their standout item. If you can muster a small army of friends, you can attempt the table sized pizza they serve here.

Loved that we were able to quarter the 20ā pie so everyone in the family had their favorite topping! Long wait but worth it. We may have hit it on graduation weekend so there were lots of big parties.

This is worth doing ONCE. Plan ahead though especially on a weekend. The line was unbelievable. I enjoyed the pizza and a 42ā pizza is a novel experience. Our service experience was not good at all. After waiting for 1:15 to be seated, our waitress dropped the pizza off and did not return. We had to get our own box and flag someone down for refills. Oddly, despite the line, there were a fair number of empty tables. Worst of all, the bathrooms could be smelled from down the hallway. Imagine a pail of dirty diapers creating an aroma. Gross! Would I go back? When family comes to town. Iāll also bring a can of Lysol for the restroom.

What a pleasant surprise! The pizza bread was thin an crusty, the ingredients natural, well cooked and good Quality. The ambiance as fun as expected. The arrival of the pizza an event on itself. We stared and took plenty of Pictures. The bar is brilliant too. Totally recommend.

We had Big Louās on our last trip to TX in 2016. We enjoyed it so much that we had to go back. We ordered the 42ā Pepperoni Pizza. Itās not just a novelty but itās actually very good pizza.

My dad was visiting from Ohio and apparently saw this place on the show Man vs Food. They have a giant 3 1/2 foot pizza however the price makes it unreasonable. We ordered a couple regular large pizzas and chicken wings. The pizza, sorry I got to say for me it was a little to greasy, my family and I traveled Italy last year and after having pizza all over Italy now I know what good pizza is and this pizza at Big Lou's needs serious changes. The chicken wings were not spicy and also not fully cooked. We will not be visiting here again.

We had been meaning to come here, and as soon as I heard that my brother and large family would be in town, we made the leap. I incorrectly assumed that the pizza was large and not tasty. Oh boy was I wrong. The pizza is DELISH! The consistency and taste of the bread is very delicious. Everyone at our table agreed. Everyone that worked there was super helpful and very nice. A couple of tips: - go early [we put our order in about an hour after they opened and we had about a 30 minute wait for the largest pizza on the menu, which I thought was very speedy] - take a sweater [it was surprisingly freezing inside - better than everyone being sweaty, so kudos to them, but if you tend to get chilly, be prepared] - you have little kids? there's a place outside - we accessed it through the bar - that is open and was empty early in the day. It's just empty picnic tables outside enclosed by a wooden fence that I'm guessing they fill up when they're busy. This place was awesome because I took my young child to walk around while we waited for the pizza. They also have some pretty awesome murals on the walls in that outside area that you should set your eyes on. Overall, great unique experience! Would definitely come again.

We loved our visit here while on vacation. We thought our 20 in pizza and salads were delicious, but we mostly enjoyed watching the giant 42 inch pizzas being delivered to the tables. What an awesome experience. Plus the pizza was delicious. You order at a counter and then are seated when your table is ready. We found this seating system to be confusing although this was our first rodeo/visit to Big Lou's

If you love pizza and youāre a large group , why not drop by this pizza place and try out their 42 inch pepperoni pizza. Itās delicious and big on flavor. Though the place gets really crowded and the wait is a little long when you order this size, but then the restaurant also serves regular sizes . The buffalo wings was also delish.

The pizzas at big Lou's are as big as 60" they can also make any pizza you want the smaller pizzas are better for kids if you have 4 in your family, if you have a big group than you should get a big 60" pizza

Like the name says.. Big Pizza! Some friends and I went there for dinner and we could not finish the pizza. We had a great time but we should've brought more people with us. The line is always long but the pizza is worth the wait.

Some of the best pizza. Really cool environment to bring ALOT of family and friends to. The pizza tastes really good and is fun to eat.

We ordered delivery, last week while visiting family. There was a slight hiccup when I ordered, they told me delivery would take two hours. But I called back to do take out, and the girl that answered the phone got it straightened out, and we had our togo order within an hour. The pizza was wonderful, the wings were great, and our delivery guy was super nice. I will definitely be ordering from here on our next visit. If youāre in the area give them a try, I highly recommend.

So first let me start off by saying, the only reason I didnāt rate this place five stars is because they messed up our order several times, and we received our main course before our appetizers. As individual items went: Brisket - Moist, great flavor. Sausage - Amazing Fried pickles - Absolutely incredible Green beans - bland Pinto beans - bland Irish Fries - If you like cheese and bacon on fries ššš Chicken - 50/50 moist/dry. They have their regular and Memphis BBQ sauces. Both are quite good.

Delicious pizza! We ate the 47" pizza. It fed 12 people with only 3 slices left over. The price averaged about $10 per person with gratuity included. The only thing I did not like was that they included the tip on the ticket that was 10%. We would have tipped her more, but the mandated tip miffed me. Samantha was our server and she was very accommodating. The kids and adults alike had a blast! I am a picky pizza person, and this was one of the best tasting pizzas I have ever eaten.

This super size San Antonio Pizza meca is the place to go when you are looking for mega size flavor and portions when it comes to Pizza. You and a dozen of your favorite Spurs fans can get together and order one of the mega pizzas there and watch the game and enjoy a cold pitcher of beer or two. We have gotten the 37" pizza to go and it is insane. Really good thin crust pizza in SA. Also the Pizza rolls or wraps are just as good if not better with their gooey cheesy filling.

Ordered a normal 14" veggie pizza plus caesar salad and drinks, whilst we were sitting we saw the huge 42" pizzas come out which was fun. Our pizza itself was quite nice and tasty and we customised our toppings, we opted for a thicker base. The place itself is quite cool, most definitely a sports bar vibe and ambience, they even gave us a free photo which was quite novel. Service ranged from quite friendly at the table to a little gruff when we went up to pay. Possibly a little overpriced and funny fees, might be paying for the tourist hype of the humongous pizza's but still quite good overall.

The reason to go here is for "big" pizza. I mean really big like 3 feet. The pizza was ok but it was A novelty. They have a full bar. You order when you enter and I found the front end staff to be "unhelpful"at best. One person ordered a salad and asked for it to be brought out with the pizza but they brought it out right away. She asked for them to,take and cover it and bring it back when the pizza was ready. I saw it just sitting out in the galley area. I was not impressed.

Seems like the line never ends. BUT, it moves fairly quick. Great pizza, great service. Happy hour drinks. Pleasantly surprised.

This place is a well renowned pizza place in San Antonio. They are known for their 37 and 42 inch pizzas. We met our daughter and 4 grandkids here for dinner. Although there was an off duty police officer there helping to corral the line, I did not see many mature looking employees anywhere in the place. There were people lined up just to place an order and then wait for a table, but the employees all looked like high school kids, and no mature looking managers in site. We waited in the first line about 30 minutes to place our order and wait for a table. Then we waited for our table another 15 minutes. After we got to our table, it didn't take but about 15 more minutes for our food to come. The pizza was great. Our wings were not what we expected. They are dry wings not wet wings. But I guess we just misunderstood. While we were eating, several tables around us emptied out and were empty for a good while so we thought the place had slowed down. Upon leaving we discovered there were still crowds of people waiting for a table. This seems to be a management issue, because on a Friday night you would think you would see restaurant employees hustling, especially when there were crowds waiting to be seated. There was no sense of urgency from anyone to get tables cleared or waiting guests seated. Also, the women's restroom was in dire need of attention. I let my server know this, but the response she gave me what basically "not my problem." So basically, if you can look past the mismanagement, dirty restroom, and long wait, the pizza is really good!

Pizza is amazing and always spot on! Wings are great as well. The only thing that isn't great is the HUGE line to get in! It is literally always out the door!

Look no more for the best pizza because this is it!, it's not only the size but the taste! If you love pizza this is your place!

They serve pizzas up to 42ā! Great food and service from our waiter JP. We were celebrating a friendās birthday and had a great time.

We wanted to try this place but read the reviews first and decided to call for takeout. It was 4:10 on Sunday and the gal said it would be ready in 45 minutes. Arrived @ 5 and had to double park since the place was packed. Line was out the door. Inside was shoulder to shoulder and that was just to order. I talked to a guy as I was trying to get to the āto go ordersā cashiers which are to the left of the dine in cashier, and he told me heād been there over an hour and still didnāt have a table. Only one person ahead of me so I paid and left. In & out in 5 minutes. Now, as far as the pizza is concerned, it is very good. Thin chewy crust like New York pizza but not quite there. I ordered a 16ā with pepperoni, sausage, & black olives. Pretty skimpy on the toppings. Overall rating is for the takeout service. If I had to go through what the dine in customers faced, Iād have to rate it a āno goā!!!

Great food and drinks. Was a little confusing with so many people there to figure out how to order and sit and such. But was fantastic overall!

This place is busy and there is a reason why really really good pizza. You canāt go wrong here if you love pizza. We are a family of four and got the 20 inch pizza and had some left over. They of course are known for the really huge pizza but you better have a lot of people with big appetites. Itās huge. I would eat there again itās really good.

We waited 30 minutes for the cashier to tell us it was 2 more hours to hey a seat then 30 more for our food. I know or was a Saturday night but the was a total of 15 empty, clean tables and not nearly as many waiting as we have encountered in the past. Then I bought a beer in the bar that was frozen and the bar tender gave me another like our was a favor. We didn't stay because of the wait but I still had to pay $5 for the one beer even though it was only $2.50. UGH! DISSATISFIED AND DISAPPOINTED!

OMG my daughter and son in law took my wife and I for a good time out and it was! The pizza was amazing and the drinks were good the atmosphere was off the chain, thank you big Louās for taking care of our family with the amazing service yāall provided. We will be back

We brought a large group...wait was ok but it was All Worth it! Pizza was Amazing!!! Everyone loved it..atmosohere was great..waitress was very friendly n helpful. Will def go back with our next group!!

We went to Lous Pizza about 2:00pm. The pizza was like we have never seen. Of course 3 of us could not eat the 42 inch pizza but we had just as much fun with everyone else ordering them. Believe me..... what the people say about the lines are true. We walked in order our pizza and before we were seated the place filled up within 5 min. I have to say the pizza was very good.

We didnāt have the appetite or enough people for the big pizza so went with standard size. Service was good and pizza and calzone were delicious. Would very much recommend this place. Table next to us got 42ā pizza and seemed delighted. So worth the stop.

for those that read trip advisor, i'm certain you take a clue in as to when to avoid crowds, etc. such as my group did going on Sunday between lunch and dinner crowds. really not that much of a wait for the novelty of eating there. Yes, the pizza is huge! yes, the wait can be long, but if you have a good family or crew with you, this place as great ambiance to help pass the time. It's a great place to play "I spy" with all the nostalgic memorabilia on the walls. The pizza itself -- fun to eat, and while not the greatest in the world...it certainly is better than any chain; and most of the "boutique" pizza joints. now, this is NOT NY style...and it is not full up "familia" (Italiano)..and you can tell by the sparse use of sauce, but still, the pizza is tasty, the place is fun, and I can say I've visited another Diners, Drive Ins and Dives locations! :-D Enjoy! Go for it -- just to say you did it! I've included a pic of my boys in front of the pizza pan to give you good measure. My youngest is 43" tall. Mama mia!!!

The size of the pizzas here are impressive. If I lived in the area and had to feed a large group, this would be a great option. The pizza is just ok. Realizing that big pizzas take along time to cook, service was still sub par. Itās possible our waiter forgot about us though so maybe you will have better luck
Great time
My family and our friend and her kids went here in February, all the kids had a blast they went crazy when they saw how big the pizza was, we also had the cheese sticks which were amazing.
