Geez

By Mary B |

We had oysters...ok..I had fish tacos and they stunk. I had to send them back. I was afraid something was wrong with the fish. I gift clam chowder which was just below Campbells. My husband got shrimp fettuccine...no comment. Don't waste time or money

Convenient dinner

By my e |

We were staying at the Grand View next door and figured after a long day we would walk over and give this a try. Wife had Shrimp linguini and I gumbo. Well let's say I hope the other items on the menu are better. When deciding the waitress actually suggested these two items out of the four we milled over. The shrimp in the gumbo was not cleaned or drained not the sight you want to see. The linguini was bland at best. The gumbo said it used andoille sausage yet there were two types of sausage on andoille and the other was gamey. When the waitress asked how our food was we were honest as we always are, her whole demeanor changed like we offended her by saying it was just ok. When asked about the sausage she couldn't give and answer and literally brought us the check and said have a good night. After living in the south east gulf area for a very long time these are two dishes we know. The atmosphere is ok the convenience is good but, if we were ever there again. We would choose something else. We also had a good friend who is a decorated chef in the south east with us and she said the samething after tasting our dishes. So it wasn't just us. The shrimp cleaning issue was funny when we asked the waitress said they clean and devaine the peel and shrimp but, not the shrimp that's for hot dishes,,,hmmm. Only reason I am giving 3 stars is for atmosphere and convenience.

Amazing salmon/pasta dish! :-)

By Debra T |

This was the third time my husband and I have eaten at this restaurant although I seem to only order the same meal because it's so good I can't NOT order it. I'm talking about the Salmon Saganaki Pasta Bowl. It's the perfect blend of seared salmon, pasta, and crumbled Feta Cheese. From the first bite to the last, this dish is loaded with flavor and texture. I know I should try something else the next time we go to this restaurant, but I have a feeling that won't happen. When a meal is as good as this one, I know I won't be able to help myself from ordering it again. :-)

Hidden GEM

By gramma06_11 |

We had a favorite oyster bar in Vegas & it closed ☹️. We stumbled upon this one and LOVED it. Food & service was excellent. I had the shrimp Mac & cheese. Hubby had the shrimp & grits. Both dishes plentiful and we had leftovers to bring home with us. This place is located inside South point resort. If you get there before 4pm they have affordable specials. Would highly recommend this place.

AMAZING SEAFOOD - GREAT VARIETY - FRESH OYSTERS

By 007skibum |

I can't come to Vegas without eating here. I try to have at least one meal every time and usually it ends up being three or four. The service is great, the food is AMAZING and everything comes out HOT. The Scallops are one of my favorites, I love the sauce they serve with them, the fish and chips are delicious and the OYSTERS are delicious

Crab cakes are the best!!!

By JustGoing4Fun |

Wow, we had the best crab cakes ever there. The clam chowder was good too. The prices are on the high side but well worth it.

Eating alone this time

By kctab |

I had an Oysters Rockefeller which was tasty though not prepare din the traditional way. I had a salad with seared Ahi and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Bland food, subpar service, overpriced

By AshhleyN |

I used to enjoy the food here and loved to come here as a local. My husband and I always take visiting relatives here, especially when we encourage them to stay at the South Point Hotel. I usually get the Seafood Diavolo, and always the calamari appetizer. Unfortunately, after my experience last night, I will never be back. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and the only thing that was subpar was the crab and avocado salad. Last night, my mom (who is visiting from California) and I met my aunt and uncle and cousin from Hawaii here since they are staying at the hotel. I told them they had to try it because it was surprisingly delicious. I ordered calamari for the table, which was extremely rubbery in texture. I was the only one eating it after everyone tried a piece. My mom had some clam chowder which was obviously decent. We decided to share the TWENTY-SIX dollar lobster grilled cheese. It was nothing close to a grilled cheese. The bottom piece of bread was so soggy, the inside contents of the "grilled cheese" seemed to have little or no cheese, and it tasted awful. I honestly do not believe that there was any real lobster inside. For the side, it came with stale kettle chips that seem to be house made...maybe earlier in the week? My cousin ordered the crab for $29 which came out barely warm, with an unlit candle for the butter sauce. My aunt had fish and chips which also came out hardly warm fries, and luckily the fish was hot. My uncle had the scampi and he said it was good. Our service was nothing special and we never received any refills. The calamari came out so late that it wasn't really considered an appetizer. I felt bad that my aunt and uncle insisted on picking up the bill, but I was more so embarrassed that I had told them to try this place more than once, and the quality of the food and service was pretty awful. I am very disappointed. I feel bad for people who stay here and decide to "splurge" on a decent meal, since the prices aren't very reasonable. I still am in shock that the grilled cheese was so bad and came with stale kettle chips for almost $30. It should be removed from the menu ASAP.

Evening at south point

By Amber S |

I wanted to eat here because of the 'King' crab leg special...which turned out to be snow crab, not 'King' crab. The portion size was fair, and the legs sliced open for ease, but disappointing because of the false advertising. If they insist it is King crab, they were babies! My husband's dish, the Seafood Diavolo, was great.

Good food at great value.

By Gerald D |

This is a restaurant with excellent service, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food is tasty, well-prepared, and of excellent value. The fish soups (cioppino) was very good, as was the jambalaya...spicy. This is a great value restaurant, unless you want to be enclosed and out of site from the tumult of the goings-on. Also, we were surprised by the half price oysters for lunch (by chance) which enticed us to order them...and they were excellent

Yummy

By Sylvia W |

Inside south point casino a great gem... The seafood is fresh prices were average.... The food was far beyond what one would expect for a casino oyster bar.

Great Crab Legs!!

By Overgaardsman |

They have a special on 1 and a 1/2 pounds of crab legs that are truly excellent for around $30. This does not come with other food but this is usually all the food anyone would want. My only complaint is that they should bring out the food in two separate servings at different times as the legs get cool before one can eat all of them.

Quick Lunch Spot

By Shrinkgirl |

We were in need of a quick lunch so tried Big Sur. We have eaten here before and thought we would try it again to see how it compared to our previous experiences. Our three visits in the last few months have been consistent. The menu is fairly small, the service has been good, and the meal appears quickly. All diners are offered a ciabatta roll with butter from a bread basket to start their meal. It's a standard roll lacking pzazz served with a pat of butter. The chowders are smaller servings than some of the other casino based oyster bars at the same price point of $8.00 a bowl. It's OK but not outstanding chowder. We have tried fish and crab legs and both were fine but again nothing exceptional. The crab legs are a full pound and a half serving. The price is $29.00 for the serving. I think we might have a predictable quick lunch here from time to time if we happen to be in the casino but I wouldn't make a special trip.

Yes to Oysters

By travel3983 |

Ordered the dozen fresh oysters special for a buck a piece. Arrived pretty as a picture, complete with all the usual lemon, horseradish and cocktail sauce. Excellent!

Pricey but high quality.

By Douglas F |

This was the one place I ate while at the South Point Casino on the way to a family gathering in California. The clam chowder was excellent (they serve both New England and Manhattan versions, I had the New England). I also had their shrimp cocktail appetizer (three prawn sized per serving, but it was $17.00, so whew). They offer both counter and table seating, staff was very friendly and attentive considering this is more of a side trip eatery than a main draw for this property, and they also do steamed mussels, which smelled incredible). The gentleman next to me enjoyed the Jumbalaya he ordered, though "it wasn't like mom made." I also found a coupon for free soup in the welcome pack after the fact, though you have to order an entree. Might go again next time I visit. Happy Travels.

Surprising Good

By kateb33 |

Ended up here one afternoon right when menu was changing for lunch to dinner. Husband has the shrimp linguine and I had the jambalaya. We shared the ceviche which was quite good. My jambalaya was excellent. Nice big shrimp and the right amount of spice. Husband linguine was shocking good for a lunch time special. Creamy, rich sauce and loads of shrimp. Would definitely return!

Very Good

By Kabuta |

Recommend the Crab Lobster & Prawn butter combo. Quick attentive service and help you out with the menu if you dont quite understand. Hats off to the staff.

Disorganized

By travel4fun111 |

The food was not tasteful and the service poor. It is small and may have a wait for a table, mostl seats are at the counter.

Go at lunch, during the week

By pspoker |

They have a special menu, noon-4pm monday thru thursday (or friday, not sure). About 6 items to choose from at a reduced price. Also the oysters on the half shell are half off. One friend got a half dozen oysters for $8. One got the shrimp alfredo. Not a lot of food, but enough for $9. I got the fried oyster po boy for $10. It came with chips, and was big. I'd recommend it. Each of us got a roll as well. The only downer was the hostess/supervisor. she stands at the front desk, you'd think as a hostess but when we walked up, not a "hello", not a "hi", not a how are you... all she said was "bar or table". I said table and she pointed at an open table. Guess it would be too hard for her to smile. Also, she never smiled. So at the end, I went to pay. She is the one that you pay. Not a smile, not a pleasantry. I noticed at this time that her name tag (which was upside down) that she was a restaurant supervisor. A white lady, thin, black hair. Nothing but a scowl on her face. Too bad. I'm shocked really that our server was so upbeat and smiling as he has to deal with her all day. But the food and server were great. This was 9/26/16 at 12:05pm

A great place to have great seafood

By Joseph S |

Was going to eat at the coffee shop, but was too crowded, so I opted for some seafood lunch instead. Ordered the pan roast, which had shrimp & crab & lobster (I added it), in a tomato sauce, served over rice. It was delicious. Nice and hot, with just the right amount of seasoning. Service was good, place was clean, and food was delicious. What more can one ask for.

Yummy!!

By Lee_nover11 |

This was a nice celebratory dinner for my son. He had crab legs and I had the chicken Caesar (haha- I know, I'm not much of a seafood lover). Portion of crab legs was huge as was the salad. It was delicious. A bit on the pricey side but worth it.

Gummy not Yummy

By Kate C |

I rarely bother posting a terrible review. Say something nice or nothing at all ....etc. But the dining choices at the South Point Hotel are over-priced and actually mostly decent, so a real clunker deserves to be called out. Starting with the clam chowder which was beige, gummy, and thick enough for the spoon to stand up in the bowl. Flavorless too. One of the worst dishes I have paid cash money for in 2016. But wait, the fried calamari may have actually surpassed the chowder for inedible, over-priced, yuck. Deep fried to a huge hunks of battered crisp, the calamari was unrecognizable inside the crispy, oily coating. The dipping sauce was bottled tasting marinara. The nicest thing we could say was that the portion was generous enough that passed around our group of 6, there was still plenty to send back to the kitchen uneaten. There's a really good deli in this hotel, a fine steakhouse, and a couple of other ok options. Skip Big Sur and use your money for a much better bet, like the dollar slots.

Deal or no deal?

By westie2 |

Deal or no deal? On Mondays, senior at the South Point can dine at any of the casino owned restaurants for half points. It was Monday and we are seniors so we decided to have dinner at this oyster bar. Each of us ordered the combination pan roast that included crab and shrimp with rice in a tomato butter sauce. The crab was shredded, the shrimp miniscule, and the stew light on flavor. What was in abundance was the rice. Even a half off, this meal proved to be no bargain so a return visit is not going to happen.

Good Food

By lesley g |

Four of us went here for a midweek lunch. I decided on the oysters rockerfeller but I enquired firstly if they were served with hollandaise sauce. The waitress was not familiar with what I was talking about. She very kindly brought me a taste of the spinach and cream sauce. It was lovely. Thank you very much Norma for your thoughtfulness. Service was good and food was good but it was a bit pricey. $ 39.00 CAD for a glass of white wine and a crab salad which I opted for instead of the oysters. The crab salad could have had a bit more flavor added to it but t was a very good serving of food. Thank you.

Food pretty good-service ok

By lvamy N |

We ate here twice on a recent stay. The 1st time we could tell after waiting awhile the waitress just forgot us by the way she finally looked at us. My parents were craving their clam chowder from a recent visit, they said it was good. We went back a couple days later and they said the clam chowder that day was much better, just as they remembered. There were 5 of us and we didn't get one meal, waiter said he misunderstood, he did get it to us promptly after(2 of us had ordered the same so we shared the 1st and 2nd came before we were finished. Just not overly attentive staff. I do recommend the king crab legs great price and excellent. Have great mon-thur specials 11-4pm esp if like oysters and clams on the half shell.

$$$$$$

By angeleyes095 |

way over priced for items on menu and very few items or on menu 30.00$ for 12 oysters lol . 18$ for clams only to get was steamed no shrimp

Casual yet Good Eatery

By deuce32 |

Stopped by on a whim before heading to my room. Had a cup of New England Clam Chowder and an order of Oysters Rockefeller. Both were Very Good and was an exceptional choice before I turned in for the evening. Would Highly Recommend.

JUST PLAIN AMAZING!

By thesheik |

The freshest seafood selections. Unique cafe atmosphere where you can sit at the bar and see your food prepared. Get the Clam Chowder and Crab Legs and you will be very full and pleased.

gret Service

By Rico944 |

The seafood is great had the Clam Chowder, Lobster roll, and Calms and Linguine all the food was freshly prepared in front of you the cooks and servers were friendly.

Great Chowder

By bobbyb09 |

I had dinner here last week. If you are staying at South Point, in their coupon book, you get a free cup of clam chowder with dinner. The NE chowder was outstanding; a cup would be $5 without the coupon. For my meal I also had the crab salad wrap, which comes with homemade chips. The wrap and chips were good, not great. I was a bit surprised that the wrap cost $20, since it was on the smallish side. Still, I was plenty full after the soup, wrap and chips and rolls that come with the soup. Overall, I'd recommend this, mostly for the chowder.

Good Quick bite

By Sara L |

Great chowder. Great service. You can request a table or sit at the bar. Try the lobster grilled cheese.

Pan roast is amazing

By Steve G |

Had oyster Rockefeller, which was great, then had the Pan Roast with crab, shrimp and lobster and it was amazing. I will be back just for the Pan Roast!

Quick seafood lunch

By Amy W |

Had red and white Clam Chowder. Besides oysters has Shrimp and Crab legs plus assorted daily specials. Most of the seats are at the counter.

More than Oysters

By Putterface |

This is an excellent place for seafood. Oyster, yes but also gumbo, jambalaya, fish and chips and much much more. At $24 the gumbo wasn't cheap but a good value. It was excellent but more than I could eat at one sitting. The same was true with all 7 adults and their selections. Service was very good I'll go again.

The Big Sur is always a very good choice for Seafood

By Tahitiman49 |

The seafood options are very tasty and I didn't have to wait. Tables and bar seating was very comfortable and the waiters were all very friendly and helpful for any daily specials and suggestions.

Go hungry, leave happy!

By akhummingbird |

Delicious fresh seafood served quickly whether sitting up at the bar or at a table. The raw oysters are accompanied by some tasty fresh horseradish, the Capriccio was full of seafood and the clam linguine was stuffed full with clams, both whole and chopped.

oyster bar

By Angie T |

This is a pretty good oyster bar and was open late, which was great because most other restaurants in the casino were closed. It's a bit pricey but that was expected. And the the quality was pretty good.

Tasty but expensive

By Paula S |

My husband had eaten here before but I had not. We are locals to Vegas and were out at a car show this morning. In the mood for seafood we decided to stop on our way home for lunch. $65 for two entree’s and one ice tea. For lunch! Yikes. We sat at the counter seating because you can watch the cooks. The service was stellar! Husband ordered the Jambalaya which he enjoyed. I tasted it and didn’t care for it. I ordered the Beer Battered Shrimp and Scallops with fries. The fries were delicious. So fresh and perfectly cooked you could actually taste potato. The batter on the good size shrimp and scallops was cooked perfectly - flaky and crispy but it had no flavor. I keep adding lemon and salt and pepper. The seafood was also cooked perfectly. So tender. It all came out hot which I love. They make it after you order and deliver to you immediately. Yeah! I don’t mind paying that much for dinner but I have a hard time doing it for lunch. The atmosphere - the restaurant is in the middle of the casino and open on all sides. However we were seated towards the back and had no problem with hearing the conversation with each other. Because we were seated at the counter we watched other dishes being prepared and will definitely go back to try some of the other items. For dinner! Lol

Great oyster bar!

By anagorski |

Outstanding service! Good menu choices. Very fresh and good quality seafood. Outstanding staff and service

A bit disappointing.

By Sylvia S |

Went here on one of there lunch time specials we both had the shrimp Jambalaya, we didn't like that at all, maybe it would be better in the evening time, but they are always busy & staff are lovely & helpful.

Not for the East Coast Crowd!

By Jackie P |

If you are from the east coast you are used to great seafood. This place wasn't bad but not what we are used to. A bit pricey, and service was just ok.

Great food and wine

By thebrocks2017 |

We had oysters on half shells and king crab legs. The food was outstanding. The service was also outstanding. I plan on going back sometime this week.

really good

By Sylvia P |

I had fish and chips very nice, lots really, my husband had battered shrimp and scallops rather a lot, but all very tasty, and quick service, we sat at the counter

Lunch @ Big Sur Oyster Bar

By beans1213 |

Great clam chowder with a lot of clam with bread and a salad. Service was great arrived @ 1:00 pm which was a good idea after a while there was a waiting list. Great menu but the salad and chowder was enough . Will go here when I'm in Vegas.

Big Sur Oyster Bar

By Rob M |

We had dinner here last Thursday night with some friends of my wife. It's more like a diner than restaurant, with a semi circle of counter seats snd a few tables (we had a table). I had their Crab and Shrimp Cobb Salad with bleu cheese dressing, which was both good and fillimg. Service was excellent and the menu featured many items.

Greats Gumbo

By Tom S |

If you want a Cajun fix at a great price this is a good choice. The oysters are fresh the gumbo is spicy and the service is friendly and professional.

Had great oyster appetizers

By Doob69 |

Was looking forward to finding a good oyster bar, here they did a great job. The Pan fried and Oyster Rockefeller were just what we were looking for. So juicy, the tastes were blended so well, enjoyed every bite.

Half off oyster + clams 11-4

By my82pink |

We read so many reviews and originally wanted to check out Palace Station but heard it’ll be at least an hour wait no matter what time you go. So we settled for South Point and it was a winner. My heart was set on bouillabaisse and pan roast but my stomach could only handle something small. Luckily they offer half price oysters and clams and a few small items from 11am-4pm. We started off with half a dozen clams and oysters. It was our first time eating raw clams and my fiancé first time eating raw oysters! It was the blue point oysters which is small sweet with a salty finish. I will need for him to have a do over because I don’t think this oyster should be the one to pop your virgin taste bud. It needs to be plump, sweet and creamy. The clams are known to be a bit sweeter but the prefer oysters. We were given horse radish and cocktail sauce. I would prefer mignonette sauce. We shared the pacific coast shrimp rice bowl which is basically tomato sauce over brown rice with shrimp. Had a bit of kick due to the wasabi.

Yum

By Lesli R |

My favorite pop in spot at South Point. I typically sit at the counter and always have the best service. Everything on the menu is delicious. 5th or 6th time at Big Sur---hope to be back soon.

Linguini with clams and seafood diavolo were fantastic!!

By merrichristmas |

We wandered in by chance and had one of the best meals of our trip. Each dish was made with fresh ingredients while we watched, and the portions were very large. The service was excellent at the counter.

birthday celebration

By awapat |

while I was in town it was also my daughter's birthday. Since it was Ash Wednesday we wanted sea food. The food & service were outstanding.

Great unknown spot for lunch

By mjlIII |

We have been to the Big Sur Oyster Bar 3 times now on our visits to Las Vegas and thought it was time to give them their props! This is just a little place located on the edge of the casino in the Southpoint Hotel and Casino. We stop at the Casino on our way to the airport as it is close by. Everything we have ordered there, including Gumbo, Jambalaya, Pan Roast, Clam Chowder and Ahi tuna wrap have all been first rate and fresh. The people are friendly and efficient. It's become our tradition for our final lunch in Vegas.

Excellent lunch specials

By Chele H |

Lunch specials are really good and the wait isn't too long if you get there when they are opening for lunch during the week.

GREAT SEAFOOD AND OYSTERS

By funskir |

I eat here every time I'm in the area. They have the best seafood dishes, fresh oysters and great clam chowder. Excellent service too.

Nice Appetizers

By Dot47 |

My husband and I had appetizers here after playing the slots. He had clam chowder and he said it was delicious! I had the shrimp cocktail and they were the really big ones. Nice casual bar!

Some Good, Some Bad

By 3Bagger |

My friends wanted to eat here and try the crab leg special. We found the eatery right off the main casino floor and easy to find. It was a Wednesday night, so the place was empty and seating was right away. The service was a bit flaky, often having to flag down our server for refills and other needs. And we were a little disappointed with the crab leg special. The crab legs were skinny, meaning the weight was mostly in the shells. And we felt it a bit over-priced for what you get. With sub-par service, over-priced meals, I see this as average for what you would expect at a casino restaurant.

Seafood on the Fly

By Ronald R |

We passed by the Big Sur Oyster Bar as we headed towards our room at the South Point Hotel and Casino. It certainly garnered our attention as it was a seafood place and appeared to have a simple menu. Unfortunately when we walked in, the lunch specials just ended. Not a problem as we just checked into our room, dropped our bags and headed back downstairs for our meal. The restaurant is located in an open space within the casino and have counter seating in addition to a few tables surrounding it. We chose to sit at the counter as we did not feel like waiting to be seated and wanted to see how our meal was prepared. We ordered the Big Sur Salad, the Fish Sliders and Oysters on a Half Shell. The Big Sur Salad was nothing special but was a good way to warm up our palate for the seafood that was to come. The Fish Sliders were better than usual, prepared quite well and weren’t oily as most places tend to do with fried fish. The Oysters were nice and large and, along with the Fish Sliders, surely satisfied our seafood craving. We returned once more to try out their lunch specials which include a selection of non-regular menu items each at $7.99. The Shrimp Jambalaya was better than expected but the Red Snapper Creole Style, served with corn, relish and rice, would probably have been better off being served fried and as a whole rather than a filet. Overall, we had somewhat of a pleasant experience at the Big Sur Oyster Bar and while it is not quite close to the terrific dining experience we had in New Orleans, it does hold its own.

Our Favorite

By Mike H |

We stay at the South Point Hotel because they have great, attractive rates and our favorite Vegas restaurant ...... The Big Sur Oyster Bar. We have eaten here every time we visit Las Vegas. if you like seafood ..... this is the place for you. This isn't a budget eatery and we often sit on a stool at the bar where we can watch our seafood prepared and talk with the chef. The cioppino is delicious but we have eaten here several times and never had a meal we didn't rave about. They have oysters/clams on the half shell and a crab leg special of 1 1/2 pound for $29.95. Great seafood bar in the middle of a casino quite some distance South of the strip.

Very expensive disappointment

By David L |

Located in South Point casino, avoid this place. Simply put, Fish Sliders for $17 were 2 “grocery store” hamburger buns with fish that we could barely see underneath all of the lettuce, mayo and tomatoes. Each slider looked like half a piece of Gortons frozen fish? The “house-made” chips were inedible – greasy, soggy, burnt and visually ugly. $15 for the “grilled chicken Monterey” sandwich came with the same worthless chips. The sandwich reminded us of an expensive version of a Burger King specialty sandwich. The menu does not list how much soda are. $4 a piece. The fish sliders were so covered with mayo, we had to eat them with a knife and fork. Eventually, we found the tiny pieces of fried fish. A $40 lunch that was worth a quarter of it. Service was mediocre and uninteresting. Our guests were not impressed and asked us to never bring them back.

Oyster Bar in the desert....not too bad

By Checkmate75 |

We stayed at the South Point and didn't have a car so we sampled many of the restaurants. I liked Big Sur with its low key approach and fresh seafood. The clam chowder is legit and the gumbo is very good despite them serving it as if it is an etoufee. Fresh oysters and very good bread capped off the meal and the service was excellent.

Simply the best

By gramashari57 |

We so enjoy great seafood. Well we ate here 2 x during our stay next door. The clam chowder was hot and great flavor. You have dinner rolls served with anything you order. We had the seafood platter and clam chowder our first time in. After a great massage at there spa we had the Louisiana gold seal dozen oysters,New England clam chowder, beer. Again fantastic. I also want to say they have great employees. They truly enjoy there jobs and convey that to there customers. Kudos

Average .. I've had better

By Chris500 |

My friend and I ate here for lunch on 10/31/14. Our waitress was Norma and she was excellent! First, I recommend you really read the menu board. ONLY Monday - Thursday can you get the lunch for $7.95. Otherwise, it's nearly triple the price! Beer is cheap! $4.00. We ordered the Oyster Rockefeller and it was good. You get 6 large baked oysters for $15. Next, we ordered the Combo Pan roasted shrimp and crab. It was good and hot. However, it doesn't come close to the pan roast at Ocean Trail in Scottsdale -- which is my No. 1 favorite. You will have to do a lot better to pass Ocean Trail. But overall, it was OK. Nothing remarkable; a bit pricey for what you get. Total tab for lunch was $73.00 without tip. That was with only 1 beer and 1 wine.

Terrible experience. Poor management.

By kirksports |

Sat down at the oyster bar to eat. Ordered a ceaser salad with shrimp and ahi tacos. Was told I could not order 2 entrees. What???? I had the exact same order 2 nights ago, no problem. The manager on duty , Vanessa, refused to let me order it. Thats a salad with shrimp and 3 tacos. Never heard of anything like this in my life. Just close and let another restaurant take over. For lack of any other way to describe it, these people are IDIOTS!!!

Great place to eat seafood and more.

By MrBill W |

We don't care for oysters but wanted to try some of their other sea food. I had their fish and chips and my wife had the jambalaya and both dishes were great.

Very good!

By CSML47 |

Fresh seafood items were great! This was one of the few restaurants at South Point Hotel that I really enjoyed. The only downside was the location - open plan next to the casino and the main corridor to guest elevators made for too much traffic going by.

Traveriers, at the South Point...... Great grub!!!

By Bud B |

Traveriers, at the South Point...... Great grub!!! This is a great place to get something different at the South Point! Always fresh and pretty quick.....can't go wrong here!

Terrible food and way over priced

By Chuck W |

My family and I ate here during a recent stay because all of the other restaraunt a at the hotel were packed. I would stay away from this place unless you want to pay outrageous amount for low quality food. The area were they make the food is nasty and it reflects in the food they serve. Please do yourself a favor and skip this place.

Seafood bar surounded by the slot machine of this hotel casino.

By Jessysocal_Traveller |

The Bar is located in the lobby of the nice "South Point Hotel and Casino". The staff is really friendly and welcoming. We have Oyster plater on the bar that was good ( i prefer french oyster plater ) followed by an italian pasta plate with hot tomato sauce and shrimp and garlic...... DELICIOUS !!!

Big let down.

By C-U-N-LV |

We ate at the Big Sur Oyster bar on Thursday night. The atmosphere was fine, the staff was fine (only two reasons for the 2 stars) but the food was a major disappointment for us. We aren't foodies and I thought I had realistic expectations of the place but having read so many positive reviews I had too high expectations. We had Oyster shooters...dozen Oysters on the half shell...calamari...shrimp cocktail and clam chowder. The shooters were gross I mean nothing more then a splash of tomato and a splash of vodka...we get shooters all the time and while I wasn't expecting a quail egg like my favorite sushi place does I did expect a bit of flavor of which there was none. ...I didn't even finish mine...The shrimp were huge and looked soooo pretty (reminded me of the shrimp on the table in the Beetlejuice movie that grab her face, I mean BIG) but were tough/chewy and had zero flavor. We again didn't even finish. The calamari and the half shells were good...not great but not bad but I wouldn't order either again...the one exception was the chowder it was fantastic...only item I would get again but we wouldn't eat there again...and $90 for honestly only a chowder worth its price. We will not be back.

Will not return

By Angie W |

Well, starting with the hostess. She was an older lady that I can't say was exactly rude, but she will never come close to winning Miss Congeniality. She was not the least bit friendly or welcoming, which you expect from the host or hostess. The New England clam chowder lacked flavor and was disappointing. My husband had the shrimp Diablo, which he said was good with the perfect amount of heat. I started with fried oysters. The size was generous. These were pretty good with just a couple of rather chewy spots. I ordered the King Crab leg special. For only $39.99 I shouldn't complain, but the legs were pre-split which, in my opinion, makes them much more difficult to eat. I like my legs whole so I can crack them at the joints, remove the tendons and take out a large chunk of meat. I understand many people don't know how to crack crab, but an option of split or whole legs would be nice. The atmosphere is similar to a fast food joint.

Oysters in the dessert

By hiredpen |

They claim their oysters are air shipped each night but I guess I'm rather spoiled living near San Francisco. First of all, you never rinse oysters as the juice is the best part - sand and all. The oysters were pretty good but not what I'm used to. The best part is the convenience of the oyster bar, located right at the end of the casino. You can sit at the bar itself or at a table. Great place to take kids or a large group. They offer a large variety of oysters and other foods.

Lunch specials

By Lori P |

Went there for there lunch specials. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the gumbo bread bowl. The waitress was extremely nice and pleasant. The food was very good. Sat at the bar and the chef seemed very busy but polite to the patrons sitting in the bar area.

Great Gumbo!

By Bellarose1964 |

the gumbo was delicious, but the jambalaya was bland. fun little lunch bistro for friendship & conversation.

NICE! Ate here twice

By NewPaltzNewyorker |

We had two nice meals here. Oysters on the half shell, fried calamari, salads, lobster roll and linguine with clams were all very good. Staff was attentive and the food was hot!

Not as I remember

By TDury |

This used to be a stop every time in Vegas for their lobster grilled cheese sandwich. However a recent change to the sandwich ( which I was told improved it) has dropped it to average at best. The clam chowder is very good but not worth the drive the way the old sandwich was. Sadly disappointed.

Wow!

By cprgrl |

Wow. One of the Best Meals Ever. I had the seared tuna wrap and it was one of my best, ever, mouthfuls. We were only in Vegas for 3 days and I don’t like repeating restaurants but I made an exception. I then had the lobster grilled cheese. Wow, again. All the food eaten by our party was fantastic. Don’t walk by this one, like I had done on numerous previous visits. Go enjoy exceptional food and exceptional service.

The best seafood Diablo

By Singe24 |

This restaurant is such a great place to get seafood. It is hidden away in the SouthPoint Casino so maybe not many people know about it. We would go to vegas just to eat here and nothing else. Fantastic food we have not had a bad meal there once. The best shrimp and scallops we’ve every had.

Oysters!!!

By Francine L |

We came for the raw oysters and were not disappointed!! They were plentiful, delicious and half price. (Come between 11:00 - 4:00 for half price). Will come back for sure!!

Surprisingly Scrumptious

By Jack Slidell |

So this place is right off the Casino Floor and open to the Casino - so not much for ambiance. It also has limited seating and was very busy when we went but we were able to get a booth in short order. The food though was very good, I had beer battered Shrimp and Scallops. I was at first disappointed at the number of shrimp but after eating a couple I realized that the six shrimp would be adequate for me especially when matched with the 6 large scallops. We also had a dozen raw oysters - they were very small and not properly shelled but they were very flavorful. My wife had a shrimp salad - again flavorful but the shrimp in the salad were tiny. The hostess and our server were first class! Very attentive! Great experience highly recommend.

Great Seafood

By H3887FPmarkh |

This place has a limited menu but incredible food at a fair price. The chowder is wonderful. I alway have the lump crab salad which comes with a generous portion of tender lump crab. Last trip we ate here twice! It’s a little out of the way. But well worth the drive. They run weekday lunch specials mon to thurs. it’s in the south point hotel. Free parking and free valet parking. We always tip the valet. Very fresh seafood. Never been disappoint with a meal here. P.S. the fish and chips are superb! Enjoy.

Just plain outstanding food

By billkathy88 |

Family enjoyed a really great dinner. The crab leg special was large and good. Beer batter fish and chips outstanding. Great clam chowder and the special fish dinner was tops. Good service mad for an excellent meal.

Great Seafood

By fsufsudave |

The fish and chips is actually Halibut. Great dish and very plentiful. It is a littlem pricy and gets crowded at times, but worth the wait.

If you love Half Shell and more This is your place

By Randy D |

First off let me tell you about the staff. EXCELLENT Mark, Elisabeth and Jun. Go above and beyond. Friendly to a fault (Like ALL of the South Point Staff) Big smiles and conversation . Mark is a master of the steam pots and Makes fresh fare while you wait. THe CLam and Oyster on the half shell is the very freshest at all times. Mark told me they order 4 times per week. Don't let the desert location sway you. I sat next to people from Bangor Maine and they were raving about the half shell and the chowder. THat says something for sure. Beer is Ice cold. Half Price happy hour lunch specials Monday thru THursday noon to 4PM Give this a try. I ate here 4 times in one week.

Sharing late lunch on a Friday afternoon

By Antoinette N |

We stayed and practiced (bowling) at South Point Hotel and Casino so could be in close proximity for our bowling league sweepers...after practice, we shared lunch (clam chowder, shrimp and fries) and enjoyed very much...no need for dinner...

South Point eats

By Bruce H |

Great oysters and specials. Had the Big Sur salad (kind of small) and oysters, of course. Huge Lousianna oysters and homemade horseradish. Mmmmm!

I Would Request This for my Last Meal

By Ju_JuAthens_Georgia |

This place deserves a long review of flowery phrases, but I've read many other reviews and they are all spot-on. I don't think I could describe it better, so I won't go into superflous detail and will just give you the quick summary. My small group ate there three times last week, and if had stayed longer in Vegas, it would have been many more. We loved everything we ordered, and we felt it was fresh, well-prepared, and reasonably priced. The wait staff was excellent, and we enjoyed the open location where we could people-watch the casino crowd. If I'm ever on death row and get one request for a final meal, this is the place I'm ordering from!

Double the fresh oysters for the price of a dozen

By Karen L |

Fresh oysters that taste like they have just been flown in that minute. How about 2 dozen for the price of one dozen? Clearly, we hit this place at the right time. However, if you go to South Point, check out when the specials are and enjoy the savings.....

Absolutely the best cioppino

By Fred G |

Every time we are in town, my family demands that we stop for seafood at Big Sur. Their seafood cioppino is legendary.... It is so good that not only do we order one to eat on the premises, but we usually get another "to go". Because it is a large portion and quite "wet", Big Sur does not encourage nor provide "to go" packaging. Therefore, you need to bring your own heavy duty container from home, or stop at a "dollar" store and buy some plastic storage bowls for a buck or two. Besides the cioppino, we also recommend the fried shrimp (tempura style). Although the menu states shrimp and scallops -- you can request all shrimp only.

They have great seafood

By Lori W |

Every restaurant I tried at South Point was somewhere I would return to. I really enjoyed the seafood here as well. The service once again only so so.

Lunch

By Mikemhs |

The big sur oyster bar @ south point is always a stop for us when in Vegas which is almost monthly good lunch specials resonantly priced.... this time some of the oysters were not real fresh... 5 out of a dozen were soft & mushy .. this is the first time this has ever happened here in dozens of visits ....I will not let this keep me away .... 99% of the time the gold seal oysters are crisp & fresh the lobster melt with white cheddar is the bomb

Wow! Great food!!

By Cindy K |

My husband and I decided to share an appetizer, salad and our meal and it was the right idea!! Big plates full of big food!! The shrimp are gynormus and the Ceaser Salad alone was enough for a meal! Definitely get your money's worth! Food was amazing! !!!

Very Good Chowder and Dinner

By bobbyb09 |

Had the NE clam chowder, which was excellent and extremely hot (temperature, not spice). For dinner I had the fish and chips which probably were the best I've ever had. You get four small fish filets, nicely breaded and cooked perfectly, as were the fries that I ordered well done. Excellent job and extremely tasty. It's a bit expensive at $23 for the fish and chips, but it's a pretty good size plate of food and the taste was worth it. You can get the cup of chowder free with the coupon book they provide at check-in to the South Point. Service was excellent, water was refilled as needed and no problem getting some additional lemons and tartar sauce.

Never Miss a Meal or Two here

By DrWalter |

I have been at the hotel four times. I always order the pan roasts. Very fresh Shrimp & crab(real) in a semi-spicy tomato sauce. Served w/rice---only a non- fish lover won't like. Great service, rational price

Seafood is one of my favorites

By cejansky |

I love my oysters! Also had clam chowder, oyster Rockefeller, and seafood pasta. It’s not a big place but it stands up with the best of them.

Food Poisoning...

By DJKen Heath |

A bunch of us ate here, my roommate had the lobster roll, and vomited all night. Nobody who ate anything else had problems, he was the only one who had the roll. We won't ever eat there again, just in case!

Very Disappointed!

By Lynn S |

I asked for the daily special. It was grilled orange roughy with lemon sauce and rice. When it came I was disappointed to find that everything on the plate was absolutely tasteless. The fish had been pan fried (I guess I should have asked what they meant by grilled,) the sauce had no flavor and the rice was plain, white rice. The handful of lettuce that constituted a salad was pre-dressed with balsamic vinegarette. Not what I would have chosen. It was not worth the $21 I was charged at all. It was equivalent to a $7 meal at Denny's. When the waitress asked how I liked the meal I expressed my disappointment only to be told that she'd tell the cook. No compensation at all. Needless to say, I won't be back!

Amazing find!

By missmargoann |

Almost skipped this place because of the name. I don't eat oysters. However, I peeked at the menu and saw they had some incredible seafood eats. I enjoyed a "free" cup of clam chowder (use your fun book.) They had a $29 1.5lbs of king crab legs. Excellent deal! More than enough. My husband, daughter and I ordered a 1lb platter of peel n eat shrimp. These were good in size. My daughter enjoyed their shrimp scampi and my husband ate their gumbo. Everyone was pleased. This is counter style, no frills dining . . . but the food was excellent and our server was very attentive.

Good food, good wine

By Phyllis B |

The restaurant was busy late in the evening, but we were able to sit at the bar. The clam chowder was some of the best I've ever had. My daughter had a seafood pasta that she loved. The portion sizes were large.

Late night light dinner

By rkatao |

Wife had the jumbo shrimp cocktail with four good sized shrimp. I had the crab and avocado salad which was very good. All the seafood seemed to be very fresh and well cooked.

Entertaining and appetizing

By Gail M |

We went on New Year’s Eve. Did not expect a casino oyster bar to be so much fun. It was obvious they had regulars and treated them like family. Watching the meals be prepared was part of the experience. Seeing how effortlessly they created each plate was impressive! We told the manager it was New Orleans magnificent!

Nice surprise for a little place

By bmxmomto4 |

Holy oyster bar! We were not expecting to have such a delicious meal. Let's face it, the size of the restaurant doesn't show that it packs a punch. Not only is your meal made right in front of you, it's so fresh that it seems like it just came out of the ocean. We had the clam chowder - I wish I could have gotten the recipe. It was really fabulous. We also shared the shrimp cocktail appetizer - extremely fresh and their cocktail sauce was on point with a sprinkle of fresh lemon on the shrimp. Gosh. Makes me want some more right now. On to our meal, we went for typical fish and chips. It was anything but typical! Fresh fried, coated with a light and crispy batter that hid succulent thick cuts of fish that were moist. Our fries were delicious fried perfectly to accompany the fish. We all decided the next time we go this event, we will eat there again.

Good Oyster and clam chowder

By Tom Y |

Came here for oyster and clam chowder. Both were good. Service was fast, place was clean. The menu has a lot of other seafood. Have to come back to try.

Very Average Pan Roast

By Aaron F |

I am a pan roast fan, went specifically for this. Was OK. I did eat everything and it seemed to have a good amount of crab. I personally like a little more creamy, this was more tomato based. Rice was a little crunchy in spots. Was average.

So Good!!!

By redshoes50 |

Hi Everyone! This place was great! Good prices. Super fresh fish and great service. Not cheap, but fair prices. We asked for a table and the wait was not too long. About 30 minutes. Hostesses were friendly, took my number and called me when my table was ready. So great! About 30 minutes. We received great service! The oysters were super fresh! We ordered the shrimp scampi and the fried shrimp and scallop dinner as well. The lump crab appetizer was good but for the price, I am not sure I would order again. Just FYI, there is alot of buzz about oyster bars in this town! Don't wait 2 hours in line anywhere! This place is fresh and delicous! I don't see how anyplace else could be better and you will have that 2 hours to enjoy the rest of your day!!! Enjoy....

Yummy!

By LeilanionMaui |

I love the Big Sur Oyster Bar we've been coming here for years and I'm so glad they opened back up. The Oyster Rockefeller is to die for it's one of the things I crave while I'm home on Maui dreaming of gambling and eating these delights. The New England Chowder is scrumptious also and I've had most of the pastas and they are pretty yummy. I'll be there in June (in a couple of weeks) looking forward to it!

Never Get Anything Fried - Ever !

By ogottogo11 |

We went for the lunch Special PoBoys. After asking a few questions the server told us there were 2 Oysters on each Sandwich, which seemed like too little on the Oysters and far too much of the Bread. So we ordered "Lightly" Battered and Fried shrimp and scallops instead. Well nothing comes with it so for $ 3.00 dollars more we got these Old Oily Chips (small Pieces) that who knows how old they were. Ould came the Shrimp and oysters. They were so Breaded and Hard because they had to mask that the Shrimp were smaller than Bait Shrimp and the Scallops could be hidden by a Dime. This has been one of the worst meals experienced by our group in quite some time. To top it off we arrived for the Lunch Half Price Special so it was still over $ 15.00 each and the second rate food was matched by inattentive service. This is one of the few places that does not deserve a second chance.

nice dinner

By 6x6elkslayer |

Nice dinner with great service. Waitress was helpful with local knowledge. Crab ames were very good and New England clam chowder was good. Watch for specials.

Not fancy but good

By PattiS1979 |

Small place, but always full. Menu is small but all was good, the Caesar salad was good as was the oysters

Not impressed

By Coco |

We stopped in to grab a bite before calling it a night, ordering the mussels in white wine/garlic and a bowl of the chowder. The mussels were very large and there was plenty of them but they weren’t very fresh and were not tender at all. The broth they were in was horribly bland. I squeezed in the lemon from our water and tea and doctored it up with a bit of the choula that was on the table. It helped, but it was still very watery tasting and bland. Needed some crusty bread but all they had were some rolls. The chowder was pretty good. Prices a bit high, service not the greatest. I’d pass on this. South Point has better options.

The biggest shrimp cocktail ever...and great chowder too!

By kenmac1 |

It was late and I just needed a snack so ordered the shrimp cocktail despite being a bit expensive and WOW was it huge. I'm talking a meal here! These are the largest shrimp I have ever seen. And very good, cocktail sauce is excellent. (and worth the $14) Next day I had the clam chowder and enjoyed another great surprise, excellent! My associate had some kind of mixed grill and pronounced it excellent too. I have been a patron of the Southpoint Casino (this is inside) for years and had never eaten here. I will be a regular now.

SoCal treats

By Jim A |

The Big Sur Oyster bar sits in the middle of South Point hotel and casino. There is bar dining and a limited amount of tables. I had the shrimp jambalaya and it was really good with a fair size portion. At $8.95, it was a good lunch. My server. Beth, was on top of it.

Disappointing

By bobbyb09 |

Started out with the NE Clam Chowder, very good but needed a lot more clams. For dinner I had the Sea Bass. It comes with rice and salad and just wasn't good. I strayed from my typical order and it was a mistake. Can not recommend this item. Buddy had the Beer Battered Shrimp and Scallops which comes with fries and was very good. I guess it was just a bad selection on my part.

Oysters and Crab.

By Timothy P |

Great place for some clam chowder soup, and some oysters on the half shell. The crab and shrimp were wonderful.

Great seafood place!!!

By vdojaq |

This place knows how to make the BEST Cioppino!!! There is NO fish in proper Cioppino, and Big Sur has none of that! Cannot go without eating here at least once with each visit. The oyster sare always big and plump, never had a bad one. FRESH horseradish that will clear any sinus issue you may have! Worth every penny!

Seafood

By Herman02 |

This place is really good! But, do not go there if you really are not into seafood. Yes, they do have a few...few... menu options for the non seafood person, but not many. They use fresh ... super large shrimp, real.... real crab and lobster and fresh fish... Honestly, you can not beat this place if you really like fresh seafood.

The Seafood Place

By Senora K |

I make sure I eat here every time I go to South Point. I love fresh seafood and they do it up well. The service is excellent. You can watch them prepare your meal. I love the 1lb peal and eat shrimp, hot with garlic. Yum!!!

USBC 2021

By Renee B |

Great food and service. Crab legs were small but tasty. Jambalaya and gumbo were outstanding. Service excellent!!

Loved the service and food

By KEESHA W |

We ate here after my boyfriend witnessed a customer eating crab legs. I ordered the crab meat cocktail with a mustard and cocktail sauce, it was delicious! My boyfriend and I both ordered the king crab legs and they were split steamed to perfection. The staff fixes the food in front of you which was different. I truly enjoyed my meal that night!!!!

Seafood restaurant in South Point Casino

By KLE2013 |

Located in the South Point Casino in the open area adjacent to the casino floor, Big Sur and its "What's the Shucks" Oyster bar offers an excellent array of fresh seafood. Because it is open to the Casino the smoke and noise does distract from the dining experience. The soup, oyster selection and entrees are good and the service was fine.

The BEST

By Mikesellstrucks |

The Oyster Bar is fantastic. The quality of food is superb. The choices are endless. The shrimp and or crab cocktails are meals by themselves. Dont pass up the pan roasts.

Great place to eat!!

By Janelle C |

Loved it, would definitely go back!! They have very good clam chowder and the shrimp cocktail was huge and delicious!!

This place charges you extra for dishes. LOL!

By Ryan J |

I'm not kidding. Sat down wanted to share a meal with the wife. I was told it was $10 for an extra plate. I said okay. Here is the thing. They didn't even split the food on the plates for us. I had to do it myself. I thought it was ridiculous. I told the waiter I'm not paying for the dish. And so he took it away. ha ha. I ate my spaghetti on the bread saucer.

Great Customer Service - Great food

By warn2016 |

What a wonderful experience, we had at the Big Sur Oyster bar. We stay at the Grandview Resort and always enjoy the food and services at the South Point. The customer service we had from Kwan was outstanding. She accommodated us with a few requests we had. She was very friendly, always smiling. Kwan was courteous and helpful and went above and beyond what we expected. We had some great laughs and left with full and satisfied stomachs. I like to leave a review when I experience exceptional customer service in our travels. Kwan’s customer service was in the top of the service field and I will definitely be back to enjoy the food and service again in the future.

King Crab Legs

By JoeyH01 |

I had the crab leg dinner special. The 1-1/2 pounds of King Crab legs come pre-split and ready to eat. Not a bad deal at all for $34.

Fresh, fun, delicious

By frankwyman |

Get there before 4pm and have a dozen oysters on the half shell. Delicious. Half price. Other fish items are good too. This is very reasonably priced, so this is not fine dining, it's casual with lots of pasta and deep fat fried fish. Really good, really friendly, really reasonable.

tasteless

By monicadj |

I ordered oysters on the half shell - they where not good. Wait awhile for not a lot. Thought it would be better.

Super bowl

By Doug N |

I would eat at the big Sur oyster bar everyday if I could New England clam chowder is awesome and the shrimp alfredo

Fresh Oysters

By Garam |

I had a dozen of the Louisiana Gold Seal raw oysters. While not a bargain ($2.00 per), they were really good sized and fresh. I have since read that they have better deals on the oysters at certain times, and will be on the lookout for that on my next trip there. Had a cold beer and complimentary french bread to accompany.... hit the spot. Service was subdued but excellent.

Became My Favorite Seafood Restaurant

By mjbbg572 |

The Big Sur Oyster Bar is a hidden gem of a restaurant inside the South Point Casino. I had the pleasure of eating there many times when I stayed at South Point twice in April. This has quickly become my favorite seafood restaurant! The prices at Big Sur are very reasonable especially the daily “What The Shuck“ menu that is available until 4 PM. Where else can you get a dozen raw Middle Neck Clams for $7.50? The Cajun Pasta was a steal for $9.95 and the Big Sur Carbonara with Shrimp was only $12.95. Wow! A glass of house red or white wine is $5 during this promotion. I came for the raw clams almost every day of my stay! My favorite entree was the Seafood Diablo. It was perfectly cooked with a generous portion of scallops, shrimp, and an entire lobster tail with linguine in a mildly spicy tomato broth. The Fish and Chips are quite popular too. Most places uses Cod but Big Sur uses Halibut that is beer battered then fried to a nice golden brown. A little bit plain for me but others seem to like it very much. I can’t wait to stay at South Point again just so I can try many of the other delicious looking items on the menu such as the Fried Calamari, Tempura Shrimp, Linguine & Clams, Cioppino, Pan Seared Halibut with Grilled Shrimp & Clams and a few more. The staff was very professional and friendly. Thank you to Paul, Kwan, and Beth for taking such good care of me. I hope to see all of you very soon.

Quick lunch

By LBinTX |

Staying at South Point, we had a coupon book from check in that offered a free cup of soup with entree and we wanted a somewhat lighter lunch, so stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. There were only a few other people there and we were able to take our time looking over the smallish menu printed on the paper place mats. There isn't a huge selection, but we both found something good - my husband the fish and chips and myself the lobster roll. He started with the free New England clam chowder, which he said was good. His fish and chips were four good sized pieces, not at all greasy, with seasoned fries. He said it was very good. My lobster roll was smallish, but on the "correct" type of bun, with plenty of lobster and very good, mayo based dressing (there wasn't a choice listed for the butter preparation instead). Mine also came with cole slaw, which was surprisingly good - with a hint of sweetness - and I chose house-made potato chips instead of fries, which were great. Quick, attentive service. The only annoyance is that all of the tables are right next to walkways in the casino, only separated by a railing. I felt like everyone walking by was right in my lap. Next time, I'd choose to sit at the high bar that goes around the kitchen instead. Overall, a good quick lunch, though a bit pricey compared to some other restaurants at South Point.

Casual but Great!

By joycetwin2 |

Awesome staff! Watch your food being made. Clam chowder to die for! Fresh oysters, crab cocktail that is huge! I had a cup of soup with seafood salad in lettuce bowls for less than ten dollars. Don't miss this!

I absolutely love their fresh

By Gkdonley |

I absolutely love their fresh oysters not in love with the fried ones. Batter is weird? The crab legs are so worth the 36$. Not crazy about the clams. Fishy. Great place for a gambling stop!

We don't leave Vegas until we eat here!

By Annie M |

We visit Las Vegas four times each year and we never leave until we've had the jambalaya at Big Sur Oyster Bar. It is consistently the best ever! Be sure to arrive hungry because you will get a generous and oh so fresh serving of whichever seafood you order. The service is prompt and friendly, my iced tea was never empty. As with most of the restaurants at South Point, you can't go wrong.

Dinner for Seven

By G_J_Travelers_2010 |

Seven of us ate here last week. The service and the food were adequate. Our waiter was very friendly and caring. Food was good as it was fresh and hot. The pricing was a bit high. Everyone was satisfied and finished their meal. We would return if given the opportunity.

Oysters bar

By greg7751 |

After arriving to Las Vegas I want to Southpoint Casino. I seen they had an oyster bar and decided to give a try, I’m a big fan of oysters. We ordered off through lunch menu, we had chowder in a lettuce wrap which was good and grilled whitefish with chimichurri sauce and a dozen or Easters which were half off and can’t beat that.

Love this place

By Patrick F |

This place is a favorite for my Wife and I. We are Vegas locals and go here at least once a month. We love the selection, even though at this point there is only one thing i go here for. They have the BEST Cioppino in town. That's how we discovered this place, they were reviewed as having the best in town and it didn't disappoint.

Good Oyster Bar

By Johnp1126 |

Best restaurant at the Southpoint. Nice fresh Oysters and other seafood dishes. Nice little bar as well.

Great food and watch the show

By Linda W |

Mark is fantastic to watch as the chef! Loved the food and Service!! The crab cakes were delicious and the wine was a perfect match!

excellent

By carlenemissoula |

a rare find for a traveler. Great oyster bar located on the casino level of the South Point Resort. Something not everyone would care for but for those that love oysters and oyster bars-to have this available in Vegas is aweome

Good soup and salad

By VGTravelGirl |

Salad and chowder were both good. However, the mussels were over-cooked and the broth had no flavour. I found a piece of paper in my mussels - they checked into it and found that it was from the butter and they removed from our bill. Service was good. But it wasn’t worth the wait.

Great food and service!

By Arlinda78 |

The food was full of great flavor and our server Andrew was very nice and helpful with the menu items.

Really a nice Oyster Bar with great service

By Hawaiitraveller17 |

Enjoyed a great dinner at this bar. Food was tasty, hot, and served quickly. Service was excellent and very professional. Prices very reasonable.

Heaven on a plate

By Katkem |

We had a cup of New England Clam Chowder and a Grilled Lobster and Cheese Sandwich on Sour Dough. We shared the sandwich because it is so rich and it was late at night. What a magnificent late night dinner. The soup was thick and full of clams. Very hearty. And the Lobster sandwich was full of big chunks of Lobster and white cheddar cheese. The buttery bread grilled to perfection. Service was excellent and sitting there, we could watch the late night casino crowd that is always entertaining. Great everything!!! Fresh fresh fresh

Fresh Oysters in the middle of the desert!

By Ethan C |

We only had a quick dozen oysters and some soup for and afternoon snack. But it was fresh, friendly and enjoyable.

Delicious

By travelinGirl42 |

Highly recommend! Excellent service, great wine list, and delicious fresh oysters.. enjoy a great setting in south point..,

Alfredo rocks !!

By Renee B |

Great seafood. The crab legs, clam chowder, salmon, fish and chips were awesome. Alfredo, our server rocked ! Give him a raise. So friendly, informative, genuinely sincere and a great server.

our new favorite place

By Debby F |

at 11:55 pm, we wanted dinner. the place closes at midnight, but the staff was so nice to us by allowing us to come in and order anyway. we thought that was soooo nice of them. the food is to die for!! the fish tastes as fresh as any I have had on the coast and the soups and salads were just yummy!!! it is a small place and wide open to the casino, but that's the fun of it. you shouldnt skip this place..its just that good

Steamer Clams And Oysters.

By Jerome M |

Everything here was great right down to the wine. Great steamers clams and a dozen of oysters with a bottle of red wine, perfect.

Great Seafood & Oyster Bar

By Greg212 |

This oyster bar is located in the South Point hotel and offers a decent variety of quick bar seafood. The seafood is fresh (king crab claws are frozen) and prepared at the bar. Service is friendly. Although it's a bar, thankfully there are no gambling machines. They only offer one type of oysters. They are big and very tasty. Their shrimp cocktail offers very large shrimp snd is tasty. On Monday-Thursday, from 12-4pm, they offer lunch specials at reasonable prices. If you like seafood, this is a good pit stop.

Enjoyed food I hadn't had in a while.

When I found they had linguini with clams with my choice of red or white sauce I was thrilled. This isn't the easiest dish to find anymore, at least in Denver. And their Lobster Grilled Cheese was a delicious treat but at it's price it does have to be considered a treat.

Amazing Jambalaya

I am a fan of Jambalaya and the offering at Big Sur Oyster Bar is a very good example. One of the best I have ever had!!! My friend had a hot fish dish which he was very happy with. The weekday lunch options look great value.

Love this place

This is the Big Sur Oyster Bar located in the South Point casino. The seafood is always great and I usually get the Oysters Rockefeller. I think my favorite thing to get here is the jumbo shrimp cocktail (see pictures), this thing is huge and so delicious! If you love shrimp, you have to get this. Their bread that comes with the meals is always fresh and hot and the service has always been good here. They have a U-shaped bar you can sit at, or you can sit at some of the small tables on one side of the bar. This is not a good place for a large party, but they can seat up to 4 people with no problem. Come by and have some great seafood and take a break from gambling or sight seeing. It's a little pricey, but very much worth it. Highly recommended.

Great fresh food, as always

A regular haunt of ours on visits to Las Vegas. The food is great, freshly prepared in front of you. Never fails to impress. Our favorite server Beth makes our day. So pleasant and professional and always remembers us, even though we are from the UK. Can't praise this place highly enough.

Weekend getaway

The Big Sur oyster bar has always been a good choice probably the best overall oyster bar & it is busy they have very good M-T lunch specials reasonable priced try the lobster grilled cheese with white cheddar spendy but very tasty.... one draw back it is right on the casino floor & you do get the smoke from the casino & patrons just standing around smoking we usually hit this place place every trip south Point parking is sometimes a little tight

Disappointing Dining Experience

By jhollingsworth11 |

The quality of the food in this restaurant leaves a lot to be desired!! Both entrees we ordered were poorly cooked and the batter on the fried shrimp fell off the when you tried to eat them. The batter was soggy and did not adhere to shrimp. Waiter was not nice when we asked to return the plate and cook another serving because the food was so bad

Wow! Freshest seafood !

You will not believe the quality of seafood you will taste. You must order the shrimp cocktail. 3 HUGE cleaned shrimp served with delicious cocktail sauce. Worth $18. The fish and chips are great. We have eaten there for the last 3 days and have had everything.

Food not that good here!

Hi just eaten at this restaurant last night! Busy restaurant so we thought the food would be ok! But it wasnt! I had the crab & seafood fishcakes. They were terrible! I would definately avoid them! They came with some awful rice & some limp salad. My husband had clam linguine which wasnt much better & was very gritty! So i would rate that either! The only thing that we would recommend there was the clam chowder& warm bread roll! Waitresses were friendly & efficient though & drinks reasonably priced to other hotels on the strip which are much more expensive!

Great place for late lunch

Saw this restaurant while checking in to our rooms. Great lunch specials. Oysters and clams were half price! Excellent deal if you like raw oysters and clams! Beer prices were reasonable as well

Great lunch place.

Extremely overpriced! The food, except for the clam chowder, did not have a whole lot of taste and was not hot.

Po' Boys

I had a po' boy for lunch one day and it was great. A little dissapointed that it is not on the dinner menu.

Wonderful fish, oysters, scampi and everything else

We have visited this Oyster Bar on each vacation at South Point. The food is fresh and amazing. You can see it all being cooked and served. Beth has been our server over the years and always remembers us. She is great. Look forward to our next visit next year.

Trying hard but not quite up to par.

After you visit the Oyster Bars in the Station Casino’s it is hard for competitors to match up. This is the case for this place. Instead of long lines at the Station Oyster Bars plenty of empty seat are available here. They have further diluted the concept by offering other items like pasta and fish and chips. The pots that make the pan Roasts were all empty while I was there. Customers were eating anything but the Oysters. I ordered the fish and chips but was flabbergasted at the price. $25! If you are hungry it’s OK but not worth going out of your way.

Fun spot and good specials.

We like to play (gamble) here at least once or twice when we vacation in Las Vegas. Last year, we found the Big Sur Oyster Bar. My husband loves clams on the half shell and so we come here for the half price oysters and clams lunch special served 11 AM to 4 PM. The restaurant has tables but it's a lot of fun to sit at the bar and watch the fishmonger open your clams. I have personally tried the fish tacos which are yummy and recently I tried the grilled salmon sandwich. The sandwich is served on a hamburger bun with a slice of melted provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and a delicious sauce. It is served with homemade potato chips which is a treat because they're hard to find in many places. I recommend this restaurant.

The Crab legs were excellent.

This was the place if you like sea food and it was very quick. Walked right in and sat at the counter and was eating in only a few minutes.
