This place has great food and the prices are right. We go about twice a week and we drive 20 miles, just to get there. Its that great in all areas. They also serve Cod.

Have eaten here multiple times and at multiple locations and it is great every time. Superior quality fresh seafood is delicious and the prices are good. Fast and friendly. Top notch no frill meals and the shrip/fish some of the best. Great job.

This eatery was recommended by the concierge at our hotel, & it was a great experience. Food was delishious, and reasonably priced. Restaurant was extremely clean. The staff were VERY friendly and accommodating! Will visit whenever I go back

Stopped by here after SeaWorld. They messed up 2 out of 4 orders. Mostly leaving food off that was listed as part of the "plate". Shrimp tacos were fishy...tasted bad. Cole slaw pretty good. Hush puppies very good! Customer service lacking. If you want average dining and average seafood...this is the place.

This is not a fancy restaurant. It is like a Captain D's where you order and pick up at the counter. The food was good and reasonably priced.

I forget about this place as it is tucked back off of Highway 151 in Westover Hills. This visit was for dinner arriving at 630pm on a Friday evening. It was packed! I ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell ($12.95) and asked the counter clerk, who took my order and payment, 3 times for the oysters to be served as an appetizer and give me time to eat and enjoy before serving my entrée. Well, THAT DIDN"T HAPPEN! Precisely the reason for this POOR rating! I had one oyster in my mouth and here comes my entrée! Receipt has oysters marked "OUT FIRST", well, technically, that did happen about 2 minutes before my entrée! My fried shrimp entrée with two sides, slaw and cream corn, and a drink, was terrific! $9.95!

good portions and better food than Capt D's, about the same price, but have ate there twice and will go there for seafood, as it is good for money and quality of food is way better

If you are in the Westover Hills area during lunch time you gotta stop here. I was in the area and felt like some catfish. So I pulled in and got me a great catfish plate. I got 3 large pieces of catfish a mound of fries and coleslaw. I wasn't expecting so much fish, so I was surprised with the amount of catfish. I left full. If you are looking for a laid back place for a seafood lunch this is it.

Fish here gets 2 stars. Not good. Hush puppy was all-right. Fries were all right. Onion rings were good. Shrimp tacos were fantastic! They were quite simple with shrimp, tortilla, cabbage and sauce but it's a great combo and really good.

I love the fish sandwich from Laguna Madre but everything that was ordered was fresh and delicious. The place is spotless and fresh. Prices are reasonable too. I sure did miss the predecessor Barnacle Bill but this place holds its own! Best fish sandwich in town!

Came here with several friends from another the country for lunch... The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good.

Be careful if you go to "Laguna Madre seafood Restaurant" on I-10 in Leon Springs, Tx. I went there last night and got take out seafood for Val and I and as I was leaving a nice man held the door open for me. I was thanking him for opening the door and did not look where I was placing my foot and got it caught in the floor matt. It had a big wrinkle in it. As I said "thank you" I went straight to the concrete floor. Bag of food went flying and I hit on my knees, chest and arms. Lots of bruises and a couple of cuts, but no broken bones. The problem was, none of the staff bothered to help me get up or collect my take out meal. A lady who had just entered and the man at the door quickly helped me get up and collect my to go bag. Shame on you Laguna Madre staff for not helping me. They just stood there behind the counter and watched. Never asked if they could assist or if I was hurt or if I needed a new order of seafood. When I got home and looked in the bag everything was a real mess. Not the best meal we ever had! Bummer! And a big thank you to the two patrons who assisted me.

Stopped by for some FRESH shrimp and unfortunately, we were disappointed. For a quick seafood fix, it was ok but not the best. Would come again for a quick bite if in the area but won't go out of our way to go here again.

This place is very convienent to the highway and Sea World... Very good sea food and has family orders.

Delicious food, very reasonably priced. We enjoyed fried shimp and clams with a variety of sides. Service was also fast and friendly!

Excellent food! We had the fried shrimp and gumbo. Fresh made to order. They close somewhat early so make sure you go early. I cant wait to go there again when I am back in San Antonio.

My sisters were visiting from the North and wanted to enjoy a little seafood for 'fish Friday'. Since they were out-of-towners I wanted to take them somewhere special. I looked to Trip Advisor for the most highly rated seafood place. My sisters said not to spend a lot of money on the meal...so, ok. As a non-seafood eater myself, I really didn't know where to go other than the staples that people tell me about. Laguna Madre is close to my home and I said why not. All I can say is that my sisters and I loved it. They had the grilled cod which they raved about the seasoning and have never had anything that tasted this fresh for this little of money. I had the crispy chicken sandwich. I can truly say that it is better than some of the poultry only restaurants I've tried. For 3 hearty meals, it was about $10 / plate. It was such a great deal. The staff was pleasant, the space was clean. Absolutely no complaints from this party of 3. When they leave I will definitely return.

Got to try this. Walk in and same as bill miller's bbq, but maritime motif. Great prices. Shrimp and fish w drink $9. Cod sandwich $6 Birth were great and tasted very good. Fried well and not oily. The macaroni and onion rings are great. Hushpuppies are blah. Give it a try, won't be disappointed.

I just discovered the best fried fish and shrimp in San Antonio! Also, the customer service was friendly and caring. Don't forget to order the onion rings! I will become a regular and tell lots of friends. No need to go anywhere else for seafood!

We shared the "Grilled shrimp tacos" and the "Fish & shrimp v'cruz" plates. Very casual dining room, order at the counter and pick-up at the counter. It was very busy but never crowded as families came and went without lingering. It would be a great place to stop after spending a day at Sea World, a couple of blocks away. Both grilled plates were very good but the Vera-cruz plate had better seasoning. They also have a take-out window for those who prefer to drive thru.

Laid back atmosphere where you walk up to order. They had just about every fried seafood you can think of..it was delicious.

Pretty good food - our family got the fried cod, coconut shrimp, shrimp gumbo and fried fish tacos. Unfortunately we ordered it in the drive through and....as feared....they left out the fish tacos....which we didn’t discover until we got home. So we called and the fix was “yeah come back and get it”. No “we’re really sorry” or any extras thrown in for our extra driving, etc. Not impressed at all.

I tried the grilled fish taco plate with charro beans at lunch. The food was good, although the corn tortillas seemed overpowered by the contents their contents, and I was still a bit hungry after eating everything.

If you love Pasta and Pepsi this is your place. Great sauces Great Pasta and super cute place. This food is soooo good here people.

This establishment is owned by Bill Miller. It has a great menu of seafood at fast food prices. Like Bill Miller, it is main,y staffed by young folks who do a great job at providing service with a smile. Their cod and shrimp Mexican place at $11.95 is the most expensive and best tasting plate

Local San Antonian looking for something new. My wife and I both really enjoyed this place and will be back. The grilled Salmon was thick, boneless and wonderful. The sides of green beans and rice created a perfect place.

kind of Ordinary the food was.. good. the pie was better. Not much for people who like food 'unfried'. then again, it is Texas

Fast service, Great food but absolutely no ambiance. Plain wood chairs and tables. Decorations on walls in line with seafood; boats, fish, etc. Very clean. I keep going there for the excellent fried and grilled seafood. Very good coleslaw, green beans, creamed corn. All things considered. I Like Laguna Madre. I do not know if it is a fast food restaurant or not....the food is so good.

Been twice in the past week for the Mexican style fish and shrimp! LOVE LOVE the garlic bread. Rice is hit or miss. My mother had the fried catfish and she was quite pleased, which doesn't happen often when it comes to catfish! My husband is pretty picky as well and he liked it. A bit pricier than Bill Miller, but it IS seafood. Definitely going back.

Good shrimp tacos at a great price. My husband loves the Mexican shrimp and fish. It's service is fast as well. I have been several times.

Laguna Madre is primarily a sea food restaurant owned by Bill Millers BBQ. You can dine in or get food to go. Ample parking is available.

So this place is popular, don't get me wrong. I have lived in San Antonio for 4 years now. We ate at this place 3 years ago. I recently gave it another try. I instantly regretted spending the money on the food. It just wasn't good. The cod was bland, the oysters had a funny taste, and the shrimp had no flavor what so ever. I would go to Long John Silvers any day of the week over this place.

After hearing and reading several reviews/ We went to Laguna Madre on Loop 1604 and 281. We ordered the 8 pc shrimp special and a platter. Te shrimp was super. My platter was made with Cod ( Very good ), shrimp and a Crab cake. The Dod and shrimp was good. I wanted to try the crab cake was fried and that was my error., will order it afain, but will want the Crab cake baked. service was quick and they came around to make sure everything was good. Will return again, as l prefer Cod to other fish.

I've eaten here before because I like their fish and chips, however each time has been a worse experience. I've often attributed that to the teenagers working there, but today I became convinced that it's bad management. I asked a friend to eat here after church today. He had a large breakfast so he ordered a small salad with fish. He asked for grilled fish. After he saw his bill, he questioned why it cost $2 more and had a different name than the menu. The clerk asked the manager what to do, who could be overheard to say, "Tell him it's because of the grilled request." IF a customer makes a special request, they should be told beforehand that it could involve an upcharge. Don't sneak it in and not say anything. In the meantime, I had received my meal, and began to eat it because it was cooling off while we were waiting for my friend's order. I was halfway through my meal when my friend decided to ask for a refund since the meal was taking too long. The manager came to the register and entered a code and did not make eye contact or say anything to my friend. What kind of manager doesn't try to make things right when the restaurant is at fault? I don't think I'll be back. If it's getting progressively worse, as it seems, why chance the next screw up. There are other places between church and home where I can get fish & chips that care about my patronage.

Our meal was quickly prepared, even though my wife ordered her fish grilled. The staff was friendly and courteous.

Family lunch. Raw oysters great. Good fish and chips. All meals came with a drink. Family friendly. Easy to get to. Kids liked their food. Unique green beans in a red sauce. I’d come back.

I ordered the fried shrimp basket for lunch. For just under seven bucks, I got eight tasty shrimp, a generous portion of french fries, one hush puppy, a big piece of garlic bread, a large portion of cole slaw, and containers of cocktail and tartar sauce. That's a lot of food for $6.95. And it all tasted great. My only complaint is that the drive-through was jam-packed with cars, but that's just further proof that the food here is yummy. Oh yes, I'll eat here again.

Great place to eat. Lots of selection however, not too many veggies here. There is only salad and cole slaw. Everything is fried but good. Great family place to dine.

Good food, good prices and friendly staff. I wish I would have taken a picture of my plate to show how much food you get. Definitely will be going back!

Barnacle Bill's was abruptly closed May 2007 after more than a dozen years of operation in San Antonio, but NOW ITS BACK as Bill Miller's LUGUNA MADRE Seafood Company! I am happy-happy-happy to report its just like the old Barnacle Bill's! Nearly everything is the same...nearly same menu items, building footprint, fishin' trophy pics on the walls, even down to the paint color on the walls. Twice this month I've had lunch at the Westover Hills restaurant and loved it. The lunch-time fried fish sandwich special ($3.95) was just as I remember it. Second visit I tried the fish tacos (2) on corn tortillas with chipotles sauce and a slice of avocado ($4.50)...OMG YUMO! Both meals I substituted the side for their scrumptiously delicious creamy cole slaw, just like Barnacle Bill's served! Also enjoyed a dozen oysters on the half shell...large, plump and fresh! What a deal at $10.45/dozen! Lunch specials are served everyday of the week, 11am-4pm. Slammed during a week day lunch (noon) to the point where I had to wait for a table to open up, but not busy during the same time on a Saturday. Service was more expedient during the weekday rush.

Good take-out seafood. Enjoyed both the "Fish Tacos" and "Shrimp Tacos" as well as the onion ring and charro bean sides.

If you want to pick up some good fried shrimp for a great price go to Laguna Madre. The shrimp are big and well done. The staff are so nice and friendly when you pull up to the window, as well. The fish is so - so and the tea, well if you like Bill Miller's tea, it's the same. I would get shrimp there if I didn't want to cook.

Stopped here for a Wednesday lunch a bit after 12 noon and it was very busy! Jeremy2 took my order quickly and hit on all the questions - sauce on the tacos or on the side? Regular or spicy sauce? I was happily on my way to an inside table in minutes! Lunch was 2 fried shrimp tacos on corn tortillas with a side of coleslaw and sweet tea (combo price $9.50) and it was delivered to my table in about 5 minutes. I would love to know what their dressing is on the coleslaw because it is super good. One thing that is for sure here, the food is always good and freshly prepared. Can't beat that!

I love their fried fish sandwich. Typically I will substitute the French fries for green beans or Cole slaw (no additional charge). Service is quick. Food is great. Nice alternative to burgers!

Our large family enjoyed dinner here on a busy Saturday night. Everyone had different dishes and all were pleased. It is a small challenge for a vegan to find many choices but in the end it worked out. Most in our group were senior citizens which made conversations a challenge as the place is quite noisy. But, it still was a nice choice for dinner.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the food here. It was near the resort we were staying at so we gave it a try. The food was exceptional, especially the coconut shrimp and cole slaw. Restaurant was clean and food was consistent; we ate here two evenings and both times food was fresh, hot and deliscious.

Stopped in here yesterday to check it out. What a GREAT decision. I had the fried shrimp and oyster plate and both of the items were cooked to perfection. The oysters were perfectly seasoned and crispy. I don't remember ever having any that tasted any better. Much like New Orleans. The shrimp were equally perfectly cooked, tasted delicious, and had the "snap' in them when you bit into them, truly demonstrating the freshness of the product. Being from Southern Georgia, I was brought up around the best shrimp possible. The ones I ate yesterday would stand up to any I have ever had. GREAT FRIED SEAFOOD!

Great Food and Great service. Make sure to order a bowl of the combo makes you feel as though you in the Bayou in Louisiana.

The food was excellent....nice surprise for a casual restaurant. Catfish was very fresh and the shrimp was excellent! Even the chicken strips were great. The service was extremely slow though and they didn't seem to care at all. Two different times we asked for things that we never got.

Loved this place so much, we ate here two times during our recent visit to San Antonio. The portions were large and the price was great. We loved the gumbo, fish and shrimp. The place was very clean and the atmosphere and decor were perfect. Wish we had one of these in our town!

First let me say I'm not a picky eater. I have quite a range of what i will eat. A greasy burger, jack-in-the-box, Long John Silver, all the way up to Fogo and 50-100 dollar steak dinners plates. This was my first time to Laguna, I had passed it many times on my way to a town south of San Antonio, but I had never stopped. Well, a few nights ago, the wife and i were returning home and she wanted seafood so we thought we would try it. The plates they were setting on the tables for patrons looked good. I was also encouraged by the sign that stated the food was cooked upon order, so an 8-10 minute wait would be normal. Well, my wife and I ordered the 1 piece fish with 6 piece shrimp plate(each), which came with fries, coleslaw, 1 hush puppy and a half garlic bread. The time passed, and our plates came. The plates looked great, BUT,the fries were almost warm at best. The fish and shrimp were the same temperature. The hushpuppy and garlic bread were perfect. The fish and shrimp coating had almost no flavor, i say almost because it didnt taste good,it tasted wrong. I grew up along the coast, i know what fish and shrimp should taste like when battered and fried, and this wasnt what it should taste like. I can say the fish and shrimp were cooked correctly, very flakey fish and the shrimp wasnt rubbery. I ate 2 shrimps and a couple of bites of fish, a few fries, and all of the garlic bread. The lemon meringue pie slice was the absolute best thing i ate there. I'm guessing they get it from the Bill Miller bbq across the street. I asked the girl behind the counter if the batter was made there or prepackaged for them, and she said it was made there every morning. I told her the batter had no flavor, she apologized nicely and that was the end of our conversation. I rarely ask a restaurant to remake my plate, for fear of retaliation by someone controlling my food where i cant see them. I suppose i could have asked for a refund. I doubt I'll eat there again, but if i do and the batter has no flavor and comes out warmish, it will certainly be the last time.

The grilled shrimp tacos are served on good corn tortillas that are warmed on a grill until the edges are just crisp. Avocado, cabbage, perfectly grilled shrimp, and a mildly spicy sauce make these amazing. Definitely get with the charro beans. They are pretty good alone, and even better with the tacos. Also have good fried cod and hush puppies are solid.

My husband loved the fried shrimp. My salmon was ok. Clean friendly restaurant with decent food. Very busy during lunch time so it seems to be popular with locals. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We did not have to wait long for our food.

We ate here and the food was not very good, We will never go back. My husband had sliced beef and I had ribs. Both were tough with no flavor.

We love to eat at this restaurant. The grilled fish is so very flavorful. The service is always very friendly and the Manager is great. We've ordered grilled fish, fried fish, chicken tenders and a variety of other foods. Everything is consistently good. The menu is better than what you would normally find at a casual restaurant such as this one. There is a somewhat international flavor to some of their more exotic dishes such as Chicken Veracruz. Try it; you'll like it.

we met some family here since they always go on about the food and the lunch specials, so we joined them to see it it was worth it. Yep the food was good but like most of the sea food places if you have a large appetite you better get ready to order extra. The food and service was excellent so we will be back to this place.
Not too bad
I have to disagree from a previous reviewer.... This is NOT like the old Barnacle Bill's. The freshness and availability of different fish are a few of many differences. The food is not too bad at Laguna but it's not the best. I think the plus side is that you have a drive thru. Honestly, I would take this place over drive thru seafood like Long Johns, J Anthony's, and Fred's anytime! I tried the first Laguna location a few years back on the other side of town and wasn't impressed. I decided to try this Westover location when it opened this year and I'm glad I did. It's a good alternative to Sea Island. The prices are not too bad, definitely affordable.
