While looking for a place to eat during our stay in Portland the desk clerk suggested this "fabulous place steak". When we drove up I was leery about going into a place looking like this but after seeing the Tripadvisor" sticker on the door I thought "it couldn't be that bad. Boy was I wrong! I ordered a steak and upon the recommendation of the desk clerk my husband ordered the "wonderful pot roast to die for" (her words not mine). The steak was well past its due date, and the pot roast was so mushy it had probably been cooked and reheated many times. When we got back to the hotel we immediately looked up the reviews on tripadvisor. Reviews seem to be varied so I guess we got there on a bad night. We certainly cannot recommend this place.

Really really good.. great service.. friendly.. nice atmosphere. Had a sirloin steak which was 🥰.. husband had filet mignon cooked to perfection.. not expensive really reasonable..

Don't let the neighborhood or humble looking building fool you. This place is historic, the service excellent and the steaks superb. There was one server who also tended bar but she was patient, not rushed, pleasant and attentive. Highly recommend this place.

The food is not very good, and service was fair, Not a very clean looking place. Try something different, and spend a few bucks more for god food in the area.

We stayed at a nearby hotel and after having returned via cab from a visit to the Portland downtown nightlife, noticed that Bill's Steak House was open for drinks. We walked over and sat at the bar. We were met by some very friendly and fun bartenders. We had a few beers and met some fun people.

Love Bill’s Steak House. We eat here every time we fly out of the Portland Airport. Stay next door at the Comfort Inn. Food always good, wait staff friendly and efficient. Plenty of beers on tap or well drinks. Food specials. Keno and video poker. Lots of TVs for sporting events. Breakfast too.

Seriously should have sat in traffic. The clientele wee scary. They were cussing and loud. We sat at the bar and had good chicken wings and cold beer. I would only stop if your a big strong man.

We arrived and Portland late (stayed at the nearby Nordic Hotel) and were starving. Bill's was one of the few things open at that hour. To be honest, it looked pretty dismal on the outside, but the hotel staff recommended it so in we went... The waitress was friendly and she advised us that one of the things we ordered might be sufficient for the two of us to split. It was a big burger (topped with ham, among other things) and served with probably the best tasting steak-fries I can ever remember having. Maybe it would be a bit of a "dive bar" experience for some, and maybe "hunger is the best sauce" but all in all, a happy find.

This place is just down the street from where we stayed at the rather dumpy Quality Inn Airport. Had both a breakfast and dinner and both were good.

A basic bar/restaurant. Cheap food, but a dreary atmosphere. The day's special was a burger and beer for five dollars which was good value if you enjoy Bud or Coors. Pay a little more for a good craft beer.

We started our night with dinner and some downtown drinks at some local places. Visiting from out east, we took the recommendations of several servers and bartenders on where to go. When we got back to our hotel, we asked the receptionist if there was any other place open late for cocktails. She told us that Bills was open late and had great drinks. Upon entering, the place was packed. Always a good sign. Even though we didn't have any food here, the bartenders were delightful, and the place was lively. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Great little dive bar near the airport.

Waitress was unfriendly and too busy, we felt like we were bothering her. Ribeye dinner was good for the price. Won't go back though. Smelled like urine.

It seemed like it had limited options. The streak was so so and over cooked. The soup came from a can. The first glass of wine had to be returned because it had gone bad. Waitress was nice and it had a good bar feel but the food needs some help.

My husband and I were staying at a nearby hotel and ate at Bills. The waitress was great. The food was very good. My husband had pot roast and I had a petite tenderloin. We will probably will eat there again before we fly out of Portland.

It had been years since we ate here so we decided to stop in. Last time we ate here it was great! I was in for surprises from the moment we walked in. This used to be a family restaurant with a bar. Now it's just a bar. My steak was horribly overcooked and the wife's chicken salad was nearly inedible. The chicken was so overdone you could have made shoes from it. Normally I would have complained but the waitress/ bartender was so busy it was crazy. In fact She never made it back to the table after serving the food. She was the single bright point of the experience. Very friendly and accommodating. I strongly recommend skipping this place if looking for a decent meal. Maybe we will try it again in another 20 years if they are still there which I very much doubt they will be.

Stayed in a hotel down the road before driving cross country, and asked the desk person for a suggestion for dinner. Bill's was it, and I drove over and found the local place to be pleasing in every way. A simple unassuming place, a bar on one side, dinner tables on the other, it was comfortable from the moment I entered the door. The two waitresses were friendly and attentive, giving good suggestions (the kickin' chicken soup was spicy hot and tasty!). Had the filet wrapped in bacon and it was superb. Any Outback (outhouse I call em) i've eaten in didn't come close to the quality and price of Bill's Steakhouse. I was there for an early dinner, looks like it gets going socially after dark, but for food, alot of locals were eating at the early dinner hour, good sign! this is a fine choice that lends some local color to a first trip to Portland.

The place isn't exactly attractive - dirty sticky floors and tables when I was there. The menu had a decent selection of low-priced American food. I got a steak dinner for under 10 bucks and it was actually quite tasty. There were some beer specials as well. Not a place to take a first date but to fill up on good food, give it a try.

Close to our Best Western pony Inn location. Recommended by the desk clerk. My wife had the petite fillet. I had the regular fillet (on special for 10 dollars). Cooked as ordered with baked potato and salad. My wife's sweet potato fries were excellent.

The outside of this restaurant/bar was unattractive but the food was good and the waitress was excellent. The prices were reasonable.

We were staying at the nearby Best Western and there are not alot of places to eat within walking distance. We came by here for a late dinner/snack and to watch some of the Seahawk game and hubby played pinball. We had good service and the wings were very good and spicy. The drinks are super reasonable. Looks abit dingy but we were overall pleased with food and service.

I ordered steak- tasted like it was going bad. Veggies were cooked to mush. Waitress was both bartender and waitress. I should have complained.

Stoped in today for the 1st time. Had a delicious bloody Mary and French toast. Played Keno and a few slots. Bartender was great and the place had a very neighborhood vibe. Super great prices on breakfast. I also saw on the reader board after I was done drinking the have a bacon vodka bloody Mary & a hot potato bloody mary with habanero vodka, guess I'll have to come back and try those.

My wife and I visited Bills while visiting Portland because of a referral when we checked in at our hotel. The referral was, "the outside isn't much to look at, but the food is amazing." I agree the outside isn't much to look at, but have long ago learned it's not the outside that's important. Bills a basically a bar. Not an upscale bar.....just a bar. Like where the locals hang out. It decorated with cheesy Christmas lights, and oversized posters of Bud Light. I sort of liked that because we had been traveling all day, and the ambiance was relaxed, which suited us perfectly. The server needs to be mentioned first. I don't know her name, but she was amazing. From what we could tell, she was running the bar, restaurant, and everything else entirely by herself. Despite that, she was very friendly and prompt. Our service was excellent, and she deserves 5 stars. The only reason I didn't give this restaurant 5 stars is because of the poor quality of steak. I ordered the filet mignon. At only $14, it appeared to be too good to be true....and it was. If what I was eating was truly cut from the tenderloin, it was the tenderloin of a very old and wiry bull, because the steak was tough and gristly.....not what a person expects from a filet mignon. The flavor wasn't bad, but I ordered medium and got medium-well. The steak aside, everything else was good, so I'm giving Bills 4 out of 5 stars. I would go back, but would avoid the filet.

I stopped in a for a pint and to play a little video Poker before I drove over to Vancouver. The place looks very nice with a cozy feel to it. I didn't realize just how long this place has been here until I looked through one of the menus sitting at a table. I liked the Photo of Clint Eastwood in the menu. It made me want to come black again and have a meal. A friend of mine told me that his father-in-law loved this place and used to treat them out to a meal here from time to time. He was surprised when I mentioned i had been there recently and asked me how it was now. And this added to my increased interest in coming back. he said the food was very good here back in the day. Nothing I like more than well established places that have a good standing with others you know. And ones that might just harken back to the days of roadhouse in the mid 20th century. This could be one of those old gems. I plan to delve deeper into what this establishment has to offer. I got a feel feeling about this place while I was here. The woman at the bar was friendly, helpful and filled me in a bit about this place. Like just how long it has been around here. And I was surprised just how long that was. Also rather impressed at well.

Within walking distance from our motel. Food was great and the beer was cold. Staff was very friendly.

This is a nice neighborhood bar & grill. The bar service is very good and the food is not bad. When I'm in town I always make it a point to stop in here for lunch at least one day.
Three stars is pretty generous, but we were short on options
I had a friend drop by our hotel that we hadn't seen in ages and after having a few too many drinks by the pool we decided we were hungry. Noting our walking range and the late hour, Bill's Steak House was pretty much the only choice. The front doors are locked, you have to enter through the rear (security thing?) and the place was pretty much empty. There is a full bar and the bartender was polite and prompt. Like most bars in the Portland area, they are flush with local microbrews, which I am sure the locals probably take for granted, but to us tourists it is a real delight. We ordered a few appetizers. Basically consisted of fried congestive heart failure with tartar sauce. Once again, beggars shouldn't be choosy, so we ate and tried to make a mental note to do some extra cardio the next day. All in all, we were grateful for the open door, cold tasty brews, and gut bombs.
