Nice experience

By Ghost |

We enjoyed our lunch at Bistro 31, with my halibut entree being excellent. The service was impeccable as well. One small drawback--the tables are a little too close together, leaving me feeling cramped. Fortunately, the acoustics are very good, so that the noise level was quite satisfactory.

Great dinner

By Andrew R |

We enjoys Bistro 31 for dinner. Great salads. We had a pasta, fish and steak. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Dress is Park Cities casual.

Swanky brunch vibe

By Gabe B |

Absolutely loved my brunch here last weekend! Had friends in town and wanted to show them a good time. The food was fabulous and the staff was very friendly. They got pretty busy and could have used some help, but did their best to keep up with the brunch crowd. Love the DJ and loungy vibe this place offers. Plus, you can’t beat 1/2 price bottles of wine and 1/2 price sushi rolls on Sunday. The sushi is SOOOOO GOOD!

Located in the center of Highland Park Village. The restaurant is awesome and the bar upstairs is a local favorite where everyone on the staff knows your name. Sushi bar upstairs is also great. Alberto, the owner is the real deal. He has various Restraunts and they are all great. The staff have all been there for years and take really good care of customers whether you are a large or small group.

Family Gathering

By troper211 |

The food and service were great. Several different entrees and desserts were ordered and there were no complaints from anyone! Reservations are necessary if you want dinner on a Friday evening. Parking is crowded in this area, but valet is available.

Fantastic service and great food!

By Madzech |

We were lucky enough to have Adrian as our server! Very professional and gracious! Food came out hot and delicious! This is an easy recommendation for anyone who desires a great dining experience!!

Very Highland Park!

By Linda H |

What a fun venue for lunch on the patio! Every bite was DELICIOUS - quiche of the day was perfect as was everything else we tried. Service was beyond expectation! I can't wait to go for Sunday Brunch.

Great lunch

By Run_ar0und |

It was very crowded, food was good and did not feel like we have waited for along time for our food. Our waiter was polite but seems pretty overwhelmed. Would return, food quality was good. Parking is a pain, just a heads up

Bistro 31 Highland Park Village

By ronl910 |

I have eaten here consistently since opening day. the food, staff are always the same: perfect! upstairs is a favorite local watering hole also known as Bistro 31.

Must eat at this great little bistro

By staceyjane917 |

This was an amazing dining experience from the beginning to the end. The staff were all terrific. Anton , Omar and Morgan took care of us for dinner. They were knowledge about the menu and drink selections. We had the tuna tartare and the Alaskan halibut which were both delicious. Sierra one of the managers came to our table during dinner and we enjoyed our conversation with her. The hidden gem to this place is the fabulous patio and upstairs area where they serve sush and cocktailsi. Jarrod is the manager for the upstairs and is a nice guy. All in all the food was great but what will bring us back is not only the food but certainly because of the staff. Well done team!

wonderful brunch

By ImaBeachbum |

We arrived directly at opening for Sunday brunch and got a table. A few hours later we walked by and the place was full. The service was outstanding and most importantly, the food was as well. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and mimosas..both were perfect. I tasted my cousin's Eggs Florentine, and it was also great! It was the perfect place for brunch during a girls shopping weekend.

Business meeting

By Ranchman58 |

Attended a business meeting at Bistro 31 for drinks and appetizers. This is a place to see and be seen. Lots of beautiful people. The service was impeccable and personal. The sushi was excellent and all the other appetizers were excellent as well. Looking forward to taking my wife here for dinner. Everything exceeded my expectations. The restaurant is pricey, but I highly recommend this establishment

Awesome

By betty l |

Nice Sunday brunch with eggs Benedict and very good coffee. Of course all old Dallas money was there with a lot of Botox or face lifts ladies. Outside seating is a good spot to see what is going on . Prices high but you pay more for the location .

Lovely Restaurant

By Stephen Owen |

Had a really good evening here recently - cocktails on the terrace area followed by a very good dinner. Was here on business, entertaining a group of clients, and they were all very happy with the whole experience. Great food, ambience, and especially great service (they have a good team working the floor here!)

A simply great burger, and an even better salad!

By Enhance The Romance Now |

The burger was cooked to perfection and tasted great. But as great as my burger was, the blue cheese in the salad I ordered was the hit of the entire dining experience! Awesome job! Will return soon, again and again!!

So many better options elsewhere in Dallas

By momlindsay |

Service was slow my steak was cooked beyond well done when I ordered medium. They ran out of broccoli and were serving green beans when there is a grocery across the street and had no apology to my friend who really wanted broccoli. Manager way to full of himself. Also really loud.

Saturday Breakfast

By Zoltan L |

We decided to look round Highland park while in Dallas last weekend and were hungry and found Bistro 31.We were seated immediately as the restaurant wasn’t very busy.Alex our server was very helpful and kept our coffee cups full.I ordered the lemon Riccota pancakes and my son ordered the short rib hash and both were outstanding. My wife ordered the Chorizo omelette and though it was on point with flavor it was full of raw onion that she had to spend time picking out.All in all though we really enjoyed the food and great ambiance.

Wonderful experience at Bistro 31! It’s a Dallas favorite!!

By Texas Trav |

Kenneth was an amazing server. Have dined here multiple times but the level of his service was unparalleled. Kind, thoughtful, intelligent with impeccable etiquette- thank you Kenneth and kudos to Bistro 31 for hiring/ training the best professionals. This is truly a stellar dining experience with delicious fresh meals. Today at lunch we had the lobster bisque and beet salad/chopped salad. All were very tasty. Their bread is fresh with crispy crust. Highly recommended

Very good food and a great menu!

By DalTexTraveler |

I was sorry I had eaten lunch as I wasn't terribly hungry when I arrived for an early dinner. I had the lobster bisque and the ahi tuna appetizer - which was very good. Our waiter - Victor (I think) did a great job taking care of us. Our food and the wine were delicious. The only negative was that we were there early and some of the staff (not our waiter) were involved in a long and loud discussion on the patio with someone who was dining alone. I am glad they were so friendly, but their conversation was so loud that we could hear every word, which was a bit distracting.

Perfect spot in Highland Park

By CliveWatkins |

First the food presentation and ambiance of the restaurant are all wonderful but what makes this better is the club upstairs for pre or post dinner cocktails or socializing. Awesome patio, and an adult feel in hpv. Much needed spot.

You're always welcome here!

By Anne C |

We love this cozy, personal restaurant. It has masses of character and is one of the few where you can still show up in jeans and be seated at a beautifully laid, tableclothed place setting. The servers always look great in uniform, clean butcher aprons and are pleasant, helpful and happy. Particularly amazing is that you can stop by here almost any time of day or night and be served as many or as few scrumptious goodies as you want. Just an expertly-prepared espresso, or a round of appetizers with a luscious wine at 11pm. We heartily recommend the crab cakes when they're available. But the prices don't go through the roof! Great value and a bit of a hidden gem.

Fine spin on nouvelle bistro dining

By Texas Trav |

Great service, tasty food. Dined with a small group for a birthday dinner. We sat upstairs where the ambiance was younger and funkier and ordered off the sushi menu and the downstairs bistro menu. Our waitress was excellent and answered questions and made great suggestions from both menus. Sushi was fresh and flavorful. Ordered steak and frites as an entree and it was very tasty. The waitress brought a sparkler- bedecked dessert treat for our birthday girl and they sent complimentary shots to our table because it was her 21st birthday. We all enjoyed our meal thoroughly and look forward to dining here again. Don't hesitate to book a table here!!!

Weekend favorite ❤

By Jennifer B |

My family and I love coming here for brunch! The food is wonderful! And the atmosphere is just lovely with great views of Highland Park Village.

A welcome surprise in a gorgeous area!

By RMZB |

We had an amazing lunch at Bistro 31! Highland Park is the best of the best and this restaurant did not disappoint! We all had something different and loved the food, service and ambience of the place!!! Highly recommended if you're shopping in Higghland Park!!!

Restaurant week with friends

By Judy H |

Beautiful neighborhood and nice atmosphere. Seated immediately and wait staff was prompt and friendly. We were there for restaurant week and menu was disappointing. One appetizer so if you are not a fan of gazpacho you were out of luck. Three main courses including halibut, lamb chops or a simple pasta dish made up of pasta, cheese and pepper. They were out of lamb and offered nothing to take its place so it was a simple meatless pasta dish or fish. Halibut was good but dish not filling with just a few pieces of mixed vegs. Two deserts. At the higher end cost of 49.99, more choices should have been available or a substitute meat dish should have been offered when lamb dish was not available.

Upbeat and casual in Higland Park

By Wendy L |

Highly recommended by friends and hotel concierge, we had a great evening here. Food was fresh, light and delish, service was superb. Wine recommendations were spot on. Clearly a neighborhood favorite.

Lovely Brunch

By bettyh |

Nice atmosphere, good service and very good food. Several different items on brunch menu. Latkes with salmon were excellent. I will return to try lunch and dinner menus.

Highland Park Favorite

By GREEKMBA |

The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The gracious Manager and Staff are lovely. I highly recomend this restaurant.

Don’t bother

By Jonathan |

Very good service. The food was not good. Quiche was served at room temperature and was mushy. I would not recommend.

EXCELLENT!

By bascombe2 |

A MUST! Excellent service by almost everyone in the restaurant- a very professional team that worked together effortlessly. The food was amazing with my favorite being the Red Beet Cured Wild Caught Salmon with caviar! Totally recommend this restaurant and we will return!

Pleasant lunch in a lovely setting

By 219MaryG219 |

Seated outside to enjoy the beautiful weather, we greatly enjoyed our light lunch. My lobster and avocado salad was delightful, and my companion's Benedict was good. Service was appropriate, and the setting was comfortable.

Good place to people watch

By johnjeffreyr |

And enjoy ... Good drinks ... Good food ... Good service. Located in the very best upscale shopping area in Dallas. Easy parking ... Friendly staff.

Definitely one of the best in Dallas.

By bristolroad |

Wife and I have been a number of times located in very upscale shopping area. Lunch or dinner it is a real treat. Great menu and Sevice excellent wine selection. Very good for small events. Very lively bar science as well.

GREAT lunch and great atmosphere

By kmlkm246 |

Dined here on a Saturday afternoon and just loved the experience. It is upscale and lively. The service was superb and the menu had so many great things to offer. We ordered a few different dishes and loved all of them. I look forward to returning soon.

wonderful in every way

By Bill J |

Our son is an SMU frosh so we found Bistro 31 in our explorations of Highland Park. We are very pleased we did find this great spot. To whit we dined there 3 times over the Family Weekend. The food is fabulous, the service impecable in a wonderful setting. we have enjoyed about every dish but these are our favorites: Olive Oil Cake with Orange Caramel and Seasonal Fruit Salad Tagliolini with Wild Mushroom, House Cured Pancetta, Truffle Cream, Aged Goat Cheese Roasted All Natural Chicken with Pommes Frites, Classic Garlic Parsley Butter Tuna Tartare with Avocado, Spicy Mango, Meyer Lemon Dressing Call Micheal &Juliano for a table and ask for Tatyana as your server

Nice food and reasonable service

By mephistophelean |

We went with my cousins, my uncle and aunt and my five year old son. The service was good, attentive but not too fussy. The food was well presented and generally very good although some items were a bit hit and miss e.g. the mash potato that I had with my fish had too much butter and my fish had no seasoning. My cousins' food (steak + duck) was perfectly seasoned and they really enjoyed their entrees so perhaps the chef had a bad day with my dish. Although the service is very friendly we did have to repeat orders as they got them wrong which was slightly frustrating as I believe this restaurant is supposed to be at the higher end of the Dallas restaurant scene. As others have commented this is a place to be seen so if you like to try to spot the great and the good in Dallas, this is worth a visit. Definitely worth visiting but not perfect.

Great Atmosphere

By KayBee89 |

Bistro 31 is a cozy neighborhood restaurant with amazing food. I personally love sitting at one of the top tops inside by the windows with very comfortable chairs. A more casual patio dining is also available. Service is impeccable. Wonderful choices of food from fresh fish dishes to delicious quiche and pasta.

Lunch

By TravelTheWorld1587 |

Bistro 31 is a charming upscale restaurant serving excellent food. I have been here for brunch, lunch and dinner. Brick is by far my favorite! The pancakes are phenomenal and the omelets are amazing also. The service is great and atmosphere charming. I haven’t had a bad dish yet. Their upstairs bar is fun and more upscale if your into that scene although I haven’t been in years. It’s definitely worth checking out! I’ll certainly be back.

A friends suggestion

By bstdflsh |

Friends made reservations for restaurant week and we had never been. The RW menu offered but one choice of starter, main and dessert. They tried the suggested wine pairings as well. They enjoyed the offering and the pairing. I opted for the scallops and Lobster Bisque and was not disappointed in any way. Our waiter was attentive but not over-bearing, never felt rushed, a quiet din for noise level. All in all a pleasant experience!

Just Okay

By Steve C |

A few years ago, this would have been an outstanding restaurant in Dallas. I had a salad that was dominated by way too many goat cheese cubes. Nothing memorable.

BISTRO 31 - ELEGANT FOOD WITH AN UNOBSTRUSIVE STAFF!

By Greg S |

A family member in the medical community was celebrating his road to partner, so we motored over to Bistro 31! I LOVE being met at the door with friendly faces and the table ready to rock! And that's the way it was. The luncheon menu is the correct size for a Bistro: 10 - 12 items as appetizers and an equal number of 'secondo piatto' and main dishes as well. For me the Lamb Meatballs over Soft Polenta with a Cream of Feta Cheese was a surprisingly rich and filling appetizer; the rich and buttery feta and polenta were marvelous - almost a meal unto itself. For my entrée I selected gruyere cheese crepe with small chucks of delightful ham - rich, filling, but not over the top! Of course, I had one glass of a delightful white wine: Qupe “Modern” Viognier / Chardonnay (California). It matched both parts of my meal! My one complaint: The Bistro has obviously expanded into a second new space, and it really is NOT the main Bistro: too noisy and not as comfortable. However, the attentiveness of the staff really made a huge difference here - so attentive without trying to 'sit in your lap' if you know what I mean. Lovely lunch to celebrate family and success!

Great People, great food, great ambiance

By MORRIE N |

Michael the GM, makes sure you have a blast while here. A hidden gem by Alberto Lombardi in Highland Park Village.

Very good meal

By Ghost |

Bistro 31 is a very handsome restaurant with very good food and I am glad that our hosts introduced us to it. Two quibbles--the tables are a little too close together making getting to where we were seated more difficult than it should have been. Also, the server was uncertain which premium brands of bourbon that the restaurant offered.

Dinner w/ friends

By Sheryl A |

Service was a bit off but our food was delicious! Love the venue both downstairs for main dining and upstairs for cocktails, people watching, etc.

Never ate

By MRfromDallas |

Unfortunately, we never ate dinner....we made our reservation 3 weeks in advance. After waiting at the tiny bar inside (apparently there is another larger bar upstairs) for 20 minutes, our table was still not ready and we were asked if we would be willing to split up our party to be seated earlier. We were not willing and we left. Will never go back!

A great hidden gem in the village

By Matthew B |

Stop by on a night with some friends and went to the up stairs of the Bistro. Nice service, nice staff with an enjoyable decor. THe sushi was excellent and the Double Cross voda drinks were made well. I would return again

Local But World Class

By PGAPRO2006 |

Yep, may be a who's who place to people watch, but the food? OMG, what is not to like? Excellent variety, even for Gluten Free, health conscious appetites. Go on a weekend and the Brunch will blow you away. Excellent wine choices, and attention to detail by wait staff will keep you coming back.

Delicious food

By ReeseRunner |

Took a cab to highland park aftee 6 but only a few places were open-top being one. Was greeted warmly. Sat at bar and had the scallops. Was very well done. Atmosphere was petite and classy. I wouldn't recommend sitting at the bar as I did. Thete is no room for your legs. Poor design. Should re do the bar or eliminate the seats.

Long time favorite

By Irina p |

Wonderful respite in the midst of Highland Park and a relaxing spot for a weekend breakfast or brunch. The menu is not elaborate, but well thought out, and quality of both service and food is consistently excellent. The enclosed patio provides for an al fresco dining option and the Highland Park Village location allows for a stroll after an enjoyable meal.

Pricey lunch in the ritzy part of Dallas

By BigGuyfromDallas |

This is a very popular price and by 12:30 it was packed We got there on the early side and ate al fresco as it was one of the autumn days with ideal weather but there were a couple of pesky flies. They had some pasta and seafood specials. Caesar salad was disappointing but my lunch companion said her chopped salad was very good. The service was very good and we had a very experienced waitress which was evident. With two entrees, salads, a cappuccino coffee is was $70.

Spectacular!!!!

By anna57540 |

Absolutely wonderful from the excellent service, the lamb meatballs, the beet salad, the delicious flounder and the pear torte. We all enjoyed the wine and and the atmosphere. An evening I will never forget.

Good food, OK service, Less than relaxing

By MrsBBT |

Our first visit and hoping for a long, relaxing Sunday Brunch with grown daughter and friend. Not so here. Though the food was very tasty and presented in an appetizing manner, it was slow in coming even by our wanting to linger. Tables are close together, but we could still chat without screaming. My chief complaint, once it hit capacity, it got HOT in the restaurant. The doors to the patio area were wide open, closing them maybe would have helped...but it was clearly uncomfortable. Definite winners: Mussels, French Mojito, Bread Pudding....these three alone may worth a revisit when the weather cools.

Last Minute Choice

By MCPTAP |

After a mix-up on time at another restaurant, we called Bistro 31. They were more than accommodating. The food was WONDERFUL and the service was even better. If you are in Dallas, this restaurant needs to be number 1 on your list if restaurants.

Great place for brunch.

By jazzups75235 |

My husband & I go to Bistro 31 for brunch almost every weekend. The galette is my favorite, but I often have just a croissant and cappuccino when I want a little bit of France to start the weekend off on a relaxing mode.

Wonderful Bar Upstairs

By ronl910 |

Great for lunch or dinner but the bar upstairs is the best if you don’t want a formal setting. The bar offers food service from the Sushi bar or the downstairs menu. Service is always fantastic. We come here often. Since it’s in highland park village you can shop before or after drinks! Neighborhood gem. We love it.

Chic and delish

By MiamiLuv2go |

Met my good friend for lunch last week. We are both from Miami and were in town for an event. The restaurant is in a perfect location, surrounded by high end shops and boutiques. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air, it was a beautiful day. A perfect spot to enjoy a glass of champagne and people watch. The restaurant is an upscale but fun spot; great ambience and everyone for the most part well dressed. We enjoyed the fresh fish of the day, which was large enough to share, very delish. Our waiter was warm and friendly. Would definitely return and would recommend to my friends.

Nice place

By TravellerUSA1971 |

We were lucky to get seats at this place tonite. The food was excellent. We really enjoyed our meals esp. we were assigned seats at patio.... Love this place. My Seared Ahi Tuna was perfect and melted in mouth. My Mom had lobster bisque and salad. Seared Foie Gras was so good. Will recommend this place to all friends. Thanks Sergio for your service. We will come back next time when we come visit Dallas again.

A New Favorite Place

By DianaCupp |

Superb food, amazing service by Stephen, wonderful ambiance. The salad was a work of art. A new favorite place in Dallas for a Fort Worth foodie.

Sunday brunch....

By Mary G |

Location: We originally had brunch reservations at Cafe Pacific, but when we arrived saw the no shorts or t-shirts sign and elected to go elsewhere. As we were not familiar with everything at Highland Park Village, walked around until we stumbled upon Bistro 31. It is upstairs, kind of back away from the main shopping area. You walk up into the bar area, and then there is a dining room offside of that. Very nice ambience, as the bar area is nice and open to the outside. Dining room is a bit dark, but we sat I. The bar area. Service: We waited a couple of minutes at the bar for our table to be ready, but long enough to order mimosas. Water was brought quickly, as were menus. We're given lunch/dinner menus in error, but were quickly brought the brunch menu when requested. Food: I ordered special broccoli and Gruyere quiche with side salad. Quiche was so light and flavorful. I ate every bit of it. SO got the lemon ricotta pancakes with a side of bacon. Pancakes were very tasty and had a nice texture from the ricotta. Bacon was cooked extra crispy as he likes it. He too cleaned his plate. Once we finished our original mimosa (not cheap at ten bucks a piece), the waitress asked if we wanted another round, and when we did, advised of the special. All bottles of champagne, under forty dollars are half off. That meant a bottle of the Prosecco was twenty dollars, and a small carafe of OJ was five dollars. We each got another two to three glasses from the bottle, and had plenty of juice. That was a deal in and of itself. Only wish the bartender had suggested it in the first place. Overall, it was a great experience. It was nice to walk in at 1 on a Sunday, with no reservation and have a nice brunch. The service was good, the atmosphere not stuffy, and the food and drinks were great. We will be back for sure.

Great dinner and ambiance

By Doxiesx5 |

I had dinner with friends during my Dallas visit. We went to Bistro 31 for what we thought was one of the best filets in Dallas, however, were disappointed that Filet was not on the menu for the evening, and in fact the only steak selection was a New York strip. (Not my favorite) I had the Sea Bass on Wheat Berries, and it was very good. Their combinations of the traditional, apired with fresh, unusual ingredients is really quite a nice touch. Other selections made at our table were the sea scallops with red quinoa, hamburger (wagu beef) and the NY strip and everyone was pleased. We also had a great bottle of red wine, and their selection is fantastic. I highly recommend and would go again.

You absolutely MUST come here !!

By Nancy C |

This is a fabulous little hideaway in the heart of Highland Park Village...the Rodeo Drive of Dallas. The staff is professional and attentive. The new menu is fabulous. The setting is elegant, chic and charming. With their tables so highly sought after, reservations are highly recommended....and even still...you should expect a wait. With the upstairs bar and it's unique setting, this should not be a problem. Order the specials to capture the best of the day or order off the menu developed by one of Dallas's finest chefs...you will be delighted. After dinner, walk around Highland Park Village and shop in some of the world's finest boutiques or catch one of the latest films at the Highland Park Village Theatre. Bistro 31 is a local's hangout for the Dallas elite and anyone else 'in the know'.

Excellent food and nice atmosphere

By cjg2901 |

We had some of the best pasta in Dallas. Excellent homemade pasta. Especially the spaghetti. Wine choices were also very good. We live in Dallas and we will go back.

Great Lunch

By jazzups75235 |

My husband & I eat lunch here at least once a week. He usually has the quiche. It comes with a small salad & they change the quiche daily, so he never gets tired of it. Today I had a galette that was delicious! It's one of my favorite choices.

Great restaurant! Food is

By Ordabek D |

Great restaurant! Food is awesome, the owner Michael Ashley Bratcher is great! Showed us the whole restaurant, second floor, gave us great desert! Highly recommended and we're coming back soon, Michael!

Wonderful Lunch, Impressive Service

By Deborealtor |

This was a surprisingly high quality lunch destination, and we will be back to try dinner. My salad was one of the best I've ever had, quite fresh with a unique house dressing. My husband's burger was excellent. The wine list is sophisticated with several good selections, and we were satisfied with the glass price for our choices. We were advised by the server to change our selection, and he offered us a taste of his recommendation. However, we did not care for his choice and stuck with our own first choice. After ordering we rechecked the wine list and found he was guiding us to a far more expensive bottle. This was no problem for us, but if you are not wine savy do not be intimidated into spending more.

NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN

By Judah B |

NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR WOMEN! My fiance stopped by for lunch by herself after shopping at Highland Park Village. Her waiter (Brian) inappropriately invited her out to a bar for drinks. After politely declining, she asked for a check, paid with her credit card, and left. Her waiter (Brian) decided it was okay to take my fiancé's name from her receipt and then looked her up on social media. Her waiter (Brian) proceeded to creepily privately message her on Instagram, begging her to come out. This crossed a clear line. We called the restaurant to inform them of the situation and report that this is creating an unsate environment for females in their restaurant. We spoke to the manager (Mike). He assured us that this behavior was unacceptable and that he would call back the next day with a resolution. He called back the next day to inform us that Brian received a slap on the wrist and is still employed by Mike at Bistro 31. UNBELIEVABLE! We will not be returning to Bistro 31 and suggest that everyone else avoid it as well.

Hardy Late Brunch

By Lynn_Lyon |

Comfortable table for two by the window. Delicious lobster bisque, steak fritte, and a cheddar cheese burger with fries. Nice glass of wine. Pleasant server. Easy parking midday.

Delicious Father's Day Brunch

By ConK |

Had Father's Day brunch at this charming spot in Highland Park Village. Although the Village's high end stores can sometimes be off-putting, the staff at Bistro 31 made us feel very welcome. We were fifteen minutes early for our reservation, and the maitre d' made every effort to seat us within five minutes, then apologized that he couldn't seat us sooner! Its bright, sunlight-filled dining room is cozy yet bustling. Good mimosas and diverse breakfast offerings. Nicely dressed, efficient waiters who are attentive and made us feel that we could linger as long as we wanted. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Another great dinner!

By carolynpoolkiley |

Outstanding meal and service! Halibut was perfect, not too saucy. My husband had pasta- this is one of three places in Dallas who understand how pasta should be cooked! Ashley a warm, energetic server. Friendly but not invasive. Choose a booth for best experience- intimate and quiet.

Relaxing and exquisite

By PGAPRO2006 |

Excellent food choices, menu is always changing with times of the year. Scallops were mouth watering and delicious. Service can be spotty only because this place gets busy. Want to see and be seen with who’s who of Dallas? This is a favorite watering hole for lots of Power brokers. Don’t let the scenery take you in, because as I said the food is what keeps you coming back.

Great service and food -

By dagmargarcial |

Love this restaurant but specially the lounge they have on the second floor. Its part of the restaurant but its called “lounge 31” it has a full bar and a sushi menu. On the weekends it has live dj. I personally enjoy this restaurant a lot. Highly recommend it if you are in dallas. Its also on a great location, inside on the highland park village, which is an upscaled mall in the heart of dallas.

Awesome lunch spot

By kmspring |

My husband and I popped into Bistro 31 for lunch Saturday. It was fabulous! The menu was upscale. The lobster salad I had was amazing! There were also brunch options. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. It was packed so a reservation is probably the way to go.

Perfect for casual dining

By Jane G |

Perfect for casual dining but still very good food. Darling bistro "feel". We sat on the tented patio which would be open in warmer weather. Good service and good food.

COLD EGGS

By lunch ladies |

Sunday Brunch: "Pacific" salmon, poached eggs, hollandaise, potato latke. Thinly slivered salmon no taste and cool temperature. Poached eggs extremely runny, Scant drizzle of hollandaise on tiny, round crisp of latke. This was a stacked presentation. Hollandaise would have been better on top of egg instead of soaking into the latke. Serve your food hot - good idea! Tables were very tight. This is not New York. Others in party ordered ricotta pancakes which were excellent. If I return, I will order that. $12 mimosa - no taste of champagne, just OJ! All brunch places in Dallas charge $3 or $5 at Sunday brunch!

If You're a Local or from Out of Town, this will feel like home

By LagunaGypsy |

I cannot stress enough how lucky we were to find this gem. Morgan was our server and if you're fortunate enough to get this sweet girl then you are in good hands. This is Southern hospitality at its finest. The food is expertly prepared. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, admittedly an old school favorite. It was a tasty start. Next was the Tagliolini w/ mushrooms, pancetta and hint of truffle. All I can say is WOW. I'm not a huge truffle fan, but this was just enough to have subtle undertones. The pasta was cooked perfectly. Generous portion size as well. The entrée was the halibut special served with a delicious caper butter sauce. The sauce complimented the vegetables, as well as, the fish. Divine. Finally the pièce de résistance, was the olive oil cake with house made vanilla gelato. Ooh La La! It was something of a cross between a pound cake and a bread pudding. If there is a complaint it's in the wine department. There are no vintages presented on the wine list. They have many brand names such as Silver Oak, Krup Bros. and Hall. But the difference in vintages varies greatly. For instance Krup Bros 2014 is spectacular but the '09 that they had was tight and austere. It would be much nicer if vintages were listed especially as the wines are approaching a mark up of 3X. Also the is no corkage available. With a restaurant of this quality I think the guests would not mind even a $50 corkage if available. Overall it was a lovely evening. The area is lucky to have this gem. Thank you again for a wonderful evening.

Love this Place

By steeleyourheart |

The staff is so friendly , they will fix whatever you want. Food is fresh , can be a little expensive but they make you feel special. You feel like your in a little european cafe. worth checking out.

Consistently Good Food and Service

By JohnGSelf |

Bistro 31, another Alberto Lombardi creation, is located in the toney Highland Park Village (Dallas) shopping center. The service is warm and engaging, from the front door to table side. The food is consistently good, from fish and steaks to pastas, this is a great place for brunch or a late night dinner. It is popular for Sunday night family dinners. Their lounge upstairs is a great meet and greet nightspot and attracts a well-heeled crowd. Their retracting roof, great sushi bar and quality drinks makes this a wonderful lounge.

In Dallas on vacation and looking for somewhere we hadn't tried on previous visits & spotted this restaurant. We had what turned out to be one of the best meals of our vacation along with great service and good value!

Dallas Best little Secret | Awesome Place

By Food & Lodging Critic |

We have becoming to Bistro 31 for over 3-years. They have excellent seasonal menus. Alex is our preferred waiter, who really goes beyond to make our breakfast | lunch or dinner. The rib eye when on menu is seared and flavored just right. Weekend brunch too is excellent. Recommend window seating No. 51| 52| 53 and accommodates reservations... Something we strongly recommend .... Save room for their seasonal deserts too...

Good Food, Service

By Paul W |

Great people watching location, good food, good service, medium price entrees. Manager is always involved and insures a good experience

Great Find

By MVDaddio |

While searching for a restaurant in the Highland Park area, we came across this wonderful find in a high end shopping plaza. Food was great and service very good. A delightful experience worth returning for.

OK Value

By Brianna H |

I had dinner here this weekend, but maybe should have not sat upstairs near the bar. Although the food was wonderful, the ambiance, service and and price did not deserve 5 stars. The waitstaff was friendly, but the upstairs was loud, and my $30 meal of fish and vegetables was maybe 10 bites of food. Very well prepared, but would have appreciated some bread served before the meal, or maybe potatoes as a side.

Great Relaxing Patio Lunch

By mcgotes |

Great menu, awesome service and enjoyable flavors in each dish. The roasted red pepper soup was smooth and flavorful however the serving size for the price was disappointing. The roasted brussel sprouts with pancetta was incredible and priced appropriately. $30 for soup, brussels and iced tea won't encourage a quick return.

Private reception

By Kentuxan |

Came here for a private reception after a wedding. Had drinks in the private room upstairs. The service was good, and the drinks were too.

Lovely Meal but Speed Eating

By George P |

This restaurant has great atmosphere with a real buzz. Menu is extensive and modern which allowed a party of 3 to select meals that met there needs after a long international flight. The two different fish dishes were excellent and served with good vegetables so no sides were needed. The wine list is broad with a nice selection of both American and imported wines at value pricing. The gap between courses were measured in nano seconds. If we went again we would try and slow the pace a little because this was fast even by our New York experience. With that warning, we would highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting the area.

Service has returned to the standards of its history

By Paul W |

Meal was very good, service was better than average and the staff is extremely knowledgeable. Will return again.

Cool Spot

By Robert R |

My cousin and I found this place by accident on our way from Love Field airport last Friday night and we had a great time. The upstairs bar Lounge 31 is upscale and the DJ was playing mostly hip hop and R&B. The crowd was on the younger side, mostly in their 20's, although as the night went on, more of an older (30's and 40's) crowd came in. Drinks were a little pricey for Dallas, as we paid about the same as you would expect in a NYC bar. We had a couple of rolls at the sushi bar and they were fresh and tasty, though a little on the small side for the price. We had the rest of our group come from the airport meet us there and we all had a great time. Again, a little pricey, but a great atmosphere.

Lovely!

By 0beachbum0 |

In the heart of Highland Park part of Dallas- very high end stores/restaurants. Restaurant is expensive but a real treat. Outside dining patio is lovely. Really nice/attentive service, very fresh ingredients and options. Nice wine selection. Mixed attire of guests- some in suit coats and some a bit more casual but definitely in an upscale shopping area and restaurant. I will enjoy going back.

Was an enjoyable time but for a couple of exceptions

By rich g |

Good service, good food, a bit noisy and would return. I take exception to the kitchen staff horizontally sliced the scallops in order to extend portion sizes. So although it appears you are receiving 8 scallops in fact you are receiving 4. There is no desert menu. The waiter tells you your options for the day but fails to mention any prices. A small to medium size piece of olive oil cake with a bit of whipped cream a black berry and a slice of strawberry for 12.00 seems a bit much

Very Disappointing, Won't be Back

By C C |

After several tries on a Sunday to get into Bistro 31, today was the day we snagged a table, only to be terribly disappointed. The food took a very long time, and my crab cake was (1) lukewarm, (2) contained shells, and (3) a mushy, tasteless lump, reminiscent of what we used to get in a school cafeteria, not what I expected from a trendy restaurant. The fingerling potatoes were good; hot and crispy. Our server was rushed and not very friendly, especially since I delivered unhappy news about my meal. He said he would take it off the check, but when he brought our receipt after running the credit card through, fortunately my spouse noticed that the bill had gone from $64 to over $100, and questioned it. "Oh, sorry, "she" rang it up wrong...." Right. I noticed another reviewer gave a crab dish low marks -- perhaps the chef should take crab off the menu entirely, unless you're going to use real crab meat and make the dishes flavorful. I was very disappointed, and not happy with the service. We'll find another Sunday afternoon venue.

High quality food and friendly service

By Jonathan H |

A very nice bistro in one of the high end shopping malls in Dallas. The setting is bright and one might almost feel like being in Italy for a few seconds (reminiscent of San Ambroes in Southampton). The service was friendly and the food was very good with fresh ingredients and dishes which are unusually simple (in a good way) and contrast with the frequently over-engineered wannabe-European dishes one can find in the US.

Great Sunday Brunch

By jan p |

We had the lamb meatballs on polenta to start and they were fantastic, and he short rib hash was also terrific. Service by GM Michael and our server was both warm and attentive. The ride from down town allowed us a glimpse of some lovely homes and tree lined streets.

Thanksgiving Lunch

By Wayne H |

We had lunch at Bistro 31 three or four times while we were in Dallas for the holiday. Every meal we had was wonderful but the friends we made while dining here will long be remembered. The staff and customers were the highlight of any meal we had. We will not forget Ron, Mary and BonBon and the staff that took care of us. We hope to make it back to Dallas again soon and we will be there everyday to enjoy lunch with great friends!

Great Restaurant for Lunch with the Girls

By Renee S |

A friend recently took me to Bistro 31 for lunch and I have to say I will go back. The wait staff were friendly and prompt and gave us just the right amount of attention to ensure we had drinks and took our order after giving us time to talk and catch up. We had salads but the menu was enticing to make me want to come back. Give it a try if you are in the Highland Park Village area.

Going in any time soon

By Helen M |

Food is amazing . I order a wayu carpaccio and a lobster ravioli, others order chicken and a filet Great service Great quality Excelente food and flavor

Great place to catch up with those you love

By juliaC8120BA |

I really enjoy Bistro 31... Noon, early evening or late night. Service is consistent and attentive. Staff are darling!

Disappointing Dinner

By Traveler |

Made a reservation a month in advance to celebrate a friend's birthday. The service was very slow over the course of the entire evening. Bit unfriendly and pretentious atmosphere. The food was good - not great. A disappointment.

Very Good Lunch, Beautiful Bistro, Excellent Service

By TRAVELINGCWS |

I invited a local business acquaintance to lunch and he recommended this spot. It was an excellent choice. We agreed to meet at 11:30 AM, just prior to the rush. Since we were discussing business I secured a 4 top table in the corner. It was perfect. When the Highland Park lunch crowd arrived (many nonworking ladies) we were able to carry on a business conversation quietly. I ordered the quiche of the day that was served with a salad. I was looking for something that would be easy on my stomach. It was perfect. Very good too. The gentleman I met ordered the Hand Cut Pappardelle with Short Rib Ragù and Seasonal Vegetables. Wow did it look and smell good. It's his favorite and why he came. I will order this next time. Beautiful atmosphere, nice service from the hostesses to the bus boys. I will return. Excellent experience.

One of the BEST meals ever!

By newroad |

We are in Dallas, and decided to back to Bistro 31 in Highland Park Village. The first trip was good, but tonight it was one of the best meals ever! ( A RARE review from me). It started with an appetizer to share, mouthwatering Jonah crab cake with a celery root, frisse salad, and a espelette remoulade. The sweet crab with fluffy texture mixed with the churchy celery root and slightly bitter frisse..Oh YUM!!! Next, one of my favorite things a burrata salad. Crispy olive bread (almost crackerish) halved grape tomatoes, chiffonade of basil, a lovely piece of burrata, basil oil, and balsamic glaze. The burrata is creamy, luscious, slightly salty. I wanted another for dessert! For my entrée it was a house made ghocchi with veal jus, braised wild mushrooms, and a grana padano. Pillowy ghocchi, rich mushroom/ veal jus, salty textural GP! RICH but awesome, memorable. IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST MEALS EVER BTW My hubby loved the crab cake and he did the Sunday special of roasted prime rib, lobster mac & cheese, and brussel sprouts with house made pancetta! It was a super sunday experience!!

Beautiful location and great service

By mgn988 |

The staff is very gracious and always professional... the food is always consistent and tasty.. We love to eat here with family and group of friends.

Lounge vibe is...

By Mark P. Fisher |

The lounge vibe is both intimate and fun. Actually went twice in one evening. Dinner before a movie, with delicious sushi. Drinks with friends after the movie. Quality and attentive service. Not cheap, but worth it.

Wonder service in a superb atmosphere!

By Lisastone11 |

One our favorite spots for a special night out! We love everything on the menu! The service is tremendous and we always enjoy a lovely meal!

Fabulous Food, Service and Atmosphere

By Magictravelnow |

I took my friend for her birthday celebration lunch today at Bistro 31 and this was her first time. Of course, I had been before so I knew it would make her so happy. The host could not have been more friendly and kind. They make you feel so special and yet it is very sophisticated but not stuffy. I love that especially being in Highland Park Village. Our server was Alexander and he could not have been more kind, attentive and just perfect!! He really cared about our experience and it is not easy to find people in this business that really do take their jobs seriously. He made me so happy as he was trying to please my friend with special everything.! I will always ask for him when I return. The food was heavenly. This time I ordered the steak tartar which I must say I order every time it is amazing. I then had the Diver Scallops and they were also amazing. I will say that everything on the menu is beautifully prepared and served. I will be back soon. I want to have dinner there next time. I hear it is so beautiful at night with the lights and ambiance.

Ambiance & great food

By Hidrfoot01 |

4 of us had dinner here. Very polished wait staff. Excellent wine choices. My wife & I shared the tomato & Buffalo mozzarella -very good. 3 of us had the red fish, clams & vegetables in parchment. It was excellent. my wife had a rib eye that was very flavorful.

Bring your earplugs.

By Catherine D |

We have eaten here several times, always feel that there's something just a bit off. It's either slow service, mixed up entres, or the prices don't synch with the quality of the cooking. Today we lunched to celebrate a birthday. Bistro was not our first choice, but the way restaurants are closing in Dallas (LaDuni, Nosh, Patrizios to name a few) there's not a lot of nice lunch places left. We did have a reservation for three and were seated at a four-top. No one bothered to remove the fourth place setting at the onset. We ordered drinks and the bar responded sluggishly. I nearly always have a Campari and soda and the glass it's served in is different each time. The chopped salad was well-received. Two of us ordered the salade Nicoise. Don't. It's covered in dribbled tapenade, rich enough to upset my iron stomach...no vinaigrette at all. This is not a classic salad Nicoise. The serving is meager, four thin slices of tuna. The salad is de-constructed. Our tuna was so rare we sent it back. It came back at the other end of the spectrum...gray and over-cooked. Two halved hard-boiled eggs overwhelmed the size of the salad. The tomatoes were roasted...perhaps because they didn't have any good tomatoes? As this salad goes it was terrible. There is nothing in this restaurant to absorb the sound and it was too loud to hear across the table. If you want to make a business deal do not lunch here. If you want well-prepared food do not go here. They don't even make their pasta from scratch. The bread was good, but they don't make it. The restaurant is not worthy to be in Highland Park Village; it's just not that high end. The Village really should have a restaurant the caliber of Abacus. In fact, just go to Abacus where service really compliments the price of the food.

Very good dinner, nice ambience

By DouglasNiedt |

I liked the open and lively ambience in the upscale HIghland Park Village. Food was very good. Chef showed tasty creativity. Expensive but worth it. Service very attentive but not overbearing.

Normally a good experience, but....

By Nickie N |

We have dined at Bistro 31 many times and enjoyed cocktails in the lively bar upstairs. Normally, we have a lovely meal with sincere service. This experience was completely opposite. Unsatisfactory food and almost cynical service (mostly by the Maitre'd). We could not get out of there fast enough.... And won't be returning anytime soon.

The best

By Rebecca J |

The best restaurant in the world. The food is outstanding and the service is lovely. You have to try the olive oil cake!

Truly excellent lunch

By TooOldtoRun |

While shopping at highland park, we decided to have lunch at Bistro 31. It was a good choice. The staff was friendly and very attentive. I had the quiche of the day and it was so good.

Every time I am in Dallas, I make a point to eat here!

By NewmansTravel |

The small bar at Bistro 31 is wonderful and the bartenders are excellent at suggesting wines or making a perfect Martini. The food is wonderful and everything they serve is perfect! Sometimes they will also add specials that are very different and also innovative in presentation. Everything about Bistro 31 is comfortable. This is one of my favorite restaurants Stateside. The manager, Michael Bratcher, is very personable and friendly. The service is attentive without being hovering. My son attends SMU in Dallas and he has always been made to feel welcome, with and without friends. It is an upscale bistro.

The best in Dallas

By Sarah M |

Wonderful service. Best dinner in Dallas. Perfect for special occasions. Honestly, this is just a special place.

Good food, adequate service.

By OnAir296861 |

The fish entree was very nice. Cocktail was not as described. Service was adequate. Loads of wait staff. But not enough attention to detail, like ensuring the flatware was clean. And I was told to leave the men's room because they were working on the plumbing.

Only thing better than food is Service

By gloria Fasciano |

Wait staff professional, and attentive. Brunch and lunch always good, especially the Octopus dish. Trendy atmosphere.

Drinks

By ronl910 |

Always a great venue to take friends for drinks. They open at four so you can come and go as you please. The food and drink selection is varied so everyone finds something they like. Highly recommend our neighborhood gem.

Alex is our favorite waiter for over 5-years. Here's his recommendation for deserts: Rich Chocolate Mouse & Lemon Cake.

By GlobalFoodBlogger |

Simply put, Alex our only waiter we ask for for the past 3-years, and ever since Mike the GM & Host took over management of this location - we enjoyed consistent entrees and service. Today, I am happy to present their 2-desert staples in the picture. Enjoy!

Great FIND

By Gran7 |

Our concierge recommended this lovely spot for lunch. Nestled in the heart of Highland Park Village, it is a happening spot. Great menu choices and spectacular specials are offered here. It is a hard choice. We all ordered something different and all were pleased. The spaghetti with lobster bolognese was fabulous. A perfect lunch on our weekend in Big D!

Always just greeat

By Bill J |

We visit Dallas 10 days per year and dine there with Micheal at least 6 of days. What sets 31 apart is the attention to the clientele ... every one is made to feel at home and appreciated by the staff. The menu has a dish for everyone. The halibut this weekend was especially tasty. A restaurant not to be missed

Bistro 31... for 8

By 2go |

for a group of 8 people that is..... did "restaurant week" here. Was kind of surprised and disappointed there wasn't more of a menu to chose from. Restaurant week menu: The starter was lamb ragout, main was halibut with some veggies and olive oil cake for dessert. Nice place with a noisy upstairs bar with techno music that slightly wafted into the dining area. Would go back to try something else on the regular menu.

Fantastic food, fantastic service

By Edelweiss909 |

I wanted to check out Bistro31 before going back to the airport. It was absolutely amazing, from the welcome to the service by the professional, kind and knowledgable waiter to the outstanding food. I ordered Salade Niçoise and was more than enchanted by what was served to me! The tuna, seared, served called with salad, potatoes, anchovies, egg and relish. For dessert I had the chocolate bar with the berries, a pure delight. All foods are very reasonably priced. Congratulations to the management, all your personnel have been amazing. I do know this can only be so due to great management skills. I will be back when in the area again, that is a promise. Mariana Amar

Ahhhhmazing!

By M H |

Great restaurant! Food is divine and the welcoming staff! Always feel like I'm walking into a family members or close friends home.

Quaint warm inviting restaurant

By Beth N |

The wait staff was very friendly and descriptive regarding menu choices. The food was delicious . It is a small place but very welcoming. Somewhat pricey.

Alex Does it Again . . . great suggestion

By GlobalFoodBlogger |

Often times we go here for lunch and dinner - only to have Alex as our Waiter. He's very informative and attentive towards our entrees and deserts. In this visit he recommended the Fish / black pasta (see image) very good selection. The new desert chocolate Rocky Road - nice balance. Thanks Alex for making our visit / dinner enjoyable.

Power lunch with bride and friend

By Lou C |

In a high dollar location, this place is wonderful. Personable help, interested in your best experience in dining, even if it is a little lunch, the food was wonderful, tastefully presented and attentive service. The biggest problem was very live acoustics prevented casual conversation. The lunch crowd was a bit vocal.

Brunch to wake up for

By CreateConnects |

This is a charming sunlit space with all the brunch classics. I had the Ahi tuna and avocado tartare and it was fabulous. The staff is attentive and you can linger over your meal.

Fun Place, Especially Upstairs

By PatrickCD |

I tend to bypass the downstairs dining room and head up to the lounge. The appetizers are amazing, especially the charcuterie, great drinks, wine list by the glass is well thought out, and the place is really comfortable.

Highland Park Gem

By Caroline O |

Highland Park neighborhood gem! Get there early and stay late. The mood changes and you want to be there to experience it all. We had bites and vino! All was delicious. Service excellent! Patrons ranged in age from 20's to energetic 60's-all friendly. Indoor/outdoor for whatever suits - cigar patio too. Whether dressed to impress or on the casual side you will be comfortable. Can't wait to go back and enjoy the atmosphere!

Two Venues in One: Both are Great!

By WineLover75206 |

Is Bistro 31 a bar where the rich and famous of Dallas hang out and swap stories about their recent trips to the Maldives or a fine dining restaurant where you will see Prada suited women and Lulelemon-clad teens dining side-by-side. Truth is it is both and some how it works. The bar upstairs can be quite the scene for expensive cocktails and Sushi. Most of the crowd lives in Highland Park or nearby and have no problem dropping big bucks on a glass of craft bourbon. The bar has a very casual (think the Hamptons in the summer) feel. The restaurant is quite different. It is very small and intimate and reminds one of a small french restaurant in Europe. Given its location it could feel stuffy, but it does not thanks to the staff. Our waiter was a young man who loved to talk and he made the night fun. The food was expensive, but very well prepared. The wines are reasonable given the entree prices. Both the restaurant and bar worth a visit, especially if you are into people watching.

One of the best dining experiences in Dallas!

By MsTravels100 |

Awesome dinner at Bistro 31. Love the atmosphere of an intimate bistro. Outstanding service by our knowledgable and entertaining server Stephen. His recommendations were flawless – from the wine to the pasta and main course selections. We loved every bite of the Bistro salad, the pumpkin pasta and the Branzino. Creme Brûlée with raspberries completed the perfect meal. The manager Michael was warm and engaging. Can't wait to return... Highly recommend!

Wonderful Sunday lunch in on of the best locations in Dallas

By Gianluca Bazzica |

Great place, very good service and amazing food. I love the crab cake as appetizer and the pumpkin tortellini pasta with truffles was delicious. I also had the chance to meet the GM Michael Bratcher, I like his passion and dedication. Great lunch, I will be back here one day soon!

We love to be here.

By Yulia and Fabio |

It is a fantastic French/Italian restaurant with wonderful food, a beautiful (if noisy) ambience, and excellent service. It also serves good cocktails.

Great Food! Great Service!

By TahoegpSA |

From the moment you walk in the door and they offer to take your coat to the serving of dessert..... Everything was excellent! Good variety of menu choices with availability of some special preparation. Can't say enough about the service. They catered to every whim without being intrusive.

Dinner on Friday evening

By marciez48 |

Dinner at Bistro 31 was great. There was 8 in our party. The Tagliolini with mushroom sauce was very popular, I ordered the Roasted Chicken with pommes frites . Everyone was happy with their choice. The only negative comment is the noise level.

Nice brunch menu

By WednesdayNightGirl |

I had brunch there yesterday and shared an egg white omelet with my companion. It was very good, and they split out plates for us with no hassle. Lovely little spot in Highland Park Village. Nice and bright, nice service.

Still quaint | great place

By Food & Lodging Critic |

Alex - is our preferred waiter - please for those who had terrible experience - just call ahead and get reservations and ask for Alex (the waiter). Recent visit we had the duck over corn; and myself the seafood Nero dish. Very bold and flavors. Lemon drop martini by Alex ONLY - can't go wrong. Service is always punctual . And yes, the guest become a it gel loud. We prefer 1:00 - 5:00 when it's quiet. We love this place - Mohammad makes our experience a memorable one.

Will return for the excellent food

By Stacey C |

We all enjoyed our meals during 2018 Dallas restaurant week. Service OK overall but a bit spotty on this busy Friday night. The host did not immediately greet us upon walking in, resulting in a bit of awkward standing around. One of us (table of 4) was missed on a couple of different service items, resulting in a wait. Bread for the table did not arrive until after the first course, and after our drink orders were promptly taken and served, it was a long time before our server returned to take our food order. Overall it’s a pleasant though cramped dining area and no complaints about any of our food. The olive oil cake and perfectly cooked halibut were standouts.

What happened to service?

By Rescue |

Went here for the first time with a dear friend. Greeted by a manager on the sidewalk and immediately escorted to a table. Nice start! Ambiance was pleasant. Attention to detail regarding choice of napkin color was appreciated. Food was fantastic (albeit a little over-priced for portion size on some choices) and the Champagne properly chilled. Server was friendly, but failed to let us know there were any specials until decisions had been made. While the manager ascertained satisfaction, our server did not and chose to stand leaning against the side stand. Name usage did not occur.

Nice Bistro

By Jurist |

We made an ad-hoc visit to this restaurant. It had a lot of seating, but wa incredibly busy for a late Saturday dinner (9 pm). From the table side carving to bistro style seafood dishes, the meal was very good, as was the service.

Excellent food and atmosphere

By EAGR13 |

Went with a friend for lunch. We both had the lobster salad, which was fantastic, and we shared the creme brûlée, which was also very good. Great place to have a leisurely lunch with a glass of wine and people watch. Pretty expensive for lunch but worth the splurge.

Fresh and Delicious

By Royrisen |

We came here for breakfast and what a find! Lemon pancakes with berry compote was a knock out. Fantastic service (Stephen) in a beautiful strip center, will definitely be back.

Great Place for the Holidays

By Patty H |

Bisto 31 is nestled in Highland Park Village and is the perfect place to dine during the holidays. Their food is always inventive, perfect portions and delicious. The staff is very professional and does not rush you during the meal. While the menu is small, it is varied and they have specials not mentioned on the menu. Their wine selection is also a nice surprise. Burrata and lobster dishes are wonderful. This restaurant would provide a nice respite for lunch or dinner from the holiday shopping.

4th of July celebration

By BChupka |

Our son was out of town so we wanted to try this spot on Holiday. We were not disappointed by the service and food. Casual and tasty chopped salad with chicken added and bistro crepe/galette with shrimp added. Always order french fries as test and these were overdone. Crunchy yes but a bit too brown. Do not make our top 3 as family for fries. Great place for mid to upper level in French bistro setting. We will be back but Toulouse still beats for fries. Sister restaurant so take clues from Toulouse for fries. Happy 4th to all!

Wow!

By Gina Romero |

Amazing! In Dallas for a few days to visit with my favorite niece and she brought us here! Wow! Definitely a place to see and be seen! Watch out for the Pear Pressure, it’s fire!

Food was great, service was odd

By Tsaxman74 |

I had the dover sole and it was absolutely perfect. We shared a dessert and it was exceptional, too. Our waiter seemed really distracted. His service, just adequate, kept us from giving a five-star review.

Lunch/Brunch

By tripMt_Vernon |

On Sunday we were going to attend church in DFW area and made reservation early that morning on internet for 12:30pm. We did get email confirmation and did get seated as soon as we got there. Menus had good variety. My wife order quiche which came with small salad . She raved over both items. I had Poached Salmon Benedict which was a poached egg on top of smoked salmon, on hash brown potatoes covered with hollandaise sauce. That was to die for. Had glass of Roth Estate Chardonnay wine which was very good. Highly recommend.

When can I go back?

By pickygirl09 |

This was my first time to dine here, but hopefully will not be my last! We had dinner reservations and were seated promptly upon arrival, even though the restaurant was full with people waiting for a table to become available. As some other reviewers mentioned, it seemed noisy as we walked through the main dining area, but our table was on a far wall and it wasn't too noisy for us to have conversation at all (and we are hard of hearing these days!) Our service was great, and our food came really quickly, and the two steaks that were ordered looked wonderful, especially the 10 ounce New York Strip, which was one of the largest "10 ounce" steaks I have ever seen! My husband had the short ribs, which he enjoyed. He said the flavor reminded him of his mother's cooking from years ago, so I'm pretty sure that was a compliment. I highly recommend everything I ordered, which included the bistro salad (not that well-described on the menu) but was absolutely wonderful! It came with a wide variety of fresh greens and cashews with just enough dressing. The seared chicken with pommes frites was probably one of the best chicken entrees I have ever had that wasn't smothered in something! I felt like the healthy chicken was at least slightly off-setting the French fries that I ate with it. The Highland Park Village shops were so beautiful that evening with all of the Christmas lights twinkling, and we easily found free parking in front of one of the shops. As we left, almost every person we passed said "thank you" and "hope you enjoyed it".

Great food in a fun location

By TMB2013 |

First of all, I love the area of this restaurant (Highland Park Village) and the outdoor patio is a wonderful feature. We go here quite often and are never disappointed. The Bistro Salad is delicious! Simple, but excellent blend of flavors. The Lobster Bisque is great also. The special I had the last couple times with squid ink pasta is exceptional! I wish it was on their regular menu (hint, hint) :)

Outrageously Expensive

By Ken D |

We’ve had lunch/brunch at Bistro 31 many times and always found the atmosphere, food, service and prices to be just fine. It all changed with dinner last night. Five people, NO bottles of wine and only 7 mixed drinks - the bill excluding tip $450.00. Why so expensive when one person had pasta, one had a burger - upon looking at the bill I discovered the Dover Sole was a whopping $85. Never have I seen Dover Sole even remotely close to $85.00. It’s the one item on the menu that says “market price.” Shame on me for not asking what the market price was.

Great evening

By glenagrit |

First time dining here and can’t believe I have missed this little gem. Branzino was spectacular. Grilled octopus appetizer was cooked to perfection. Tender and flavorful. Service was some of the best. GM was very hospitable and stopped by several times to make sure everything was perfect. Our server did a great job. She was always there anticipating our needs. Will def be back soon.

Wonderful Lunch Stop

By Cardine09 |

I’ve heard dinner’s good too. Bistro 31 was the perfect stop for our Dallas shopping day. Delicious food and impeccable service. Right in the heart of Highland Park Village shopping.

Fine Dining in Highland Park Village

By Jack B |

A wonderful neighborhood restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. The salmon, the filet of beef au poivre, and the tagliolinii were outstanding! Try the olive oil cake for dessert.

Pleasant interlude for brunch

By spinecutter |

Met up with a dear friend and we agreed to meet here for brunch. A little packed in terms of table spacing, but while we were there not enough people to make it feel crowded. Food was fair but I am not certain a good value as it did seem over priced. Nonetheless, the service was good, and they allowed us time to talk for a time before ordering without making us feel rushed.

Outstanding special occasion spot

By Kelly H |

Came here to celebrate, HPV is very chic chic and Bistro is but very inviting. Service was impeccable, I had the Dover Sole - it was filleted table side. Small elegant spot overlooking the lights of HPV.

excellent food and service

By 949kbunk |

Ate here two times during my last visit to Dallas, both times mid week without reservations and was seated quickly. Light and airy decor and the tables are far enough apart that you are not sitting on top of each other, but you are close. The food and the service are the real stars here as it should be in any restaurant. I had two exquisite dishes here, the risotto special and the grilled trout. The service is amazing; several waiters teaming up to provide each table with constant attention. The maitre d' is a very welcoming and friendly man; I have no complaints about this restaurant and recommend it highly. It is in the middle of a great high end shopping center; very chic.

Fantastic lunch/great venue

By 999LauraP582 |

We have all eaten here before, but not together as friends, so this became our “go to” restaurant for celebrating a birthday. My spouse and I were early so were seated and ordered drinks. Had a wonderful waitress who gave us wonderful assistance throughout our stay She brought fresh baked bread and wonderful butter, our friends joined us and once we ordered drinks were left alone to visit like we wanted. Eventually we ordered, appetizers chosen were escargot, Bistro salad, foie gras with fig sauce, oysters Rockefeller and anyone that reads this can believe me when I say everything was superb! We then had our entrees! Meanwhile we again were not rushed even though the dining room was filling up. Entrees were a strip steak, and three of us had Dover sole which was filleted table-side! Fresh vegetables and small salad shared the plate. I ordered Beurre Blanc sauce to accompany mine. So good I shared with others. We were treated to olive oil cake with what seemed like a Roman candle burning on top for the friends birthday! A lovely ending to a super lunch!

New Years Eve

By DougBellatti |

What a magical New Years Eve night it was in Dallas at Highland Park Village with all the trees brilliantly lit with thousands of white lights making it feel like fantasyland! The food and service is impeccable at this fine restaurant....a perfect place to bring in the new year 2019!🥳

Watch your credit card if you go!

This review is for the lounge upstairs, I've had no issues in the past with the restaurant: Lounge 31 WAS my favorite lounge in Dallas. However, after my most recent visit I will not being going back. I went with a couple of friends, one of whom was visiting from out of town, and I wanted her to experience my favorite lounge in Dallas. When we got our table we were asked by our waitress, Rik, for a card to hold our tab. Long story short, Rik, ended up losing my credit card. But that wasn't the most disappointing aspect of it. We had three separate tabs, and instead of communicating to us what was going on, she avoided our table when we asked for our tab to leave. I had to get up and go find her and ask her for my card and our change, at which she immediately handed me server books that didn't belong to our table. I asked to speak to the manager on duty that night, Jake, who was too concerned with arranging chairs for a crowd that wasn't even at their lounge. Although arranging his chair was of utmost importance he was finally able to separate himself to tell me they lost my card and didn't know where it was. During the whole process, Rik, our waitress tried to give me someone else's credit card not once, but twice! I could've had a great shopping spree the next day on someone else's credit! And who knows what drinks were being charged to these people's tabs. They finally found my card, after I went through the hassle of canceling it. The whole incident was handled EXTREMELY poorly, and without the professionalism I would expect from a Lombardi business. I definitely will not be coming back, and will advise my friends and colleagues to avoid this place.

Wonderful food for the road weary

By g0lfnutt |

Not far from Dallas International Airport. Nestled in a wonderful, well-off neighborhood, the thousands of Christmas lights on all the trees in the shopping village called my name. Great service right from the start, from the maitre d to the waiter. Didn't matter that I was in after 9pm; they treated me like I was their first customer. Settled in with a wonderful glass of cote d rhone. Then I ordered the Bistro salad and their nightly special of seared scallops, homemade pasta in lobster creme and black truffle oil. The salad was outstanding, the scallops to die for. Topped off with fresh brewed coffee. This restaurant was an oasis for a road-weary traveler. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

They changed tip amount by themself, I was called and ask for refund difference, someone said manager will reply to me, few days later until now, I still receive no reply.. I won't go visit there any more, and I will call credit card company to dispute the tip.

Very good!

We stopped by for lunch on Sunday before heading back to Houston, we had a nice meal and excellent service. The place was a bit crowded for my liking in these weird pandemic times but the staff was good, knowledgeable and respectful. Wanted to sit outside but it was way to hot. The waiter and all other staff were wearing their masks in a proper way. We had the burger, and the buffalo tomatoes salad and the lobster bisque. All excellent. We drove by Highland Park shops the day before and saw people queuing on this place, and all the area was a bit too crowded so we left and returned the following day. After eating there, we now understand the hype, the place is good! Not cheap but I guess it’s according to the area... Recommended!

Birthday Dinner

The bar upstairs is always fantastic. After a few hours with friends dinner downstairs was awesome. Everything on the menu is great but the burger last night was perfect. Great fries too. Lovely local hang out.

Reliable Dining Experience

I’ve eaten here several times for business lunches and retuned Friday night with my wife and two other couples. Through all of my visits here, there is a consistent theme. While the menu is not cutting edge, the food is consistently good the service is excellent and the setting is elegant. Friday night I had the halibut special. Halibut can be dicey as it is easy to overlook. In this case it was perfect, done but still moist. My wife had the short rib bolognese which was excellent. I ate her leftovers the other night and they were still great. Our waiter was a pro and he was very animated with a bit of dry wit that I found amusing. The setting in Highland Park Village is very elegant and the noise level is reasonable. The crowd is definitely older, although there was a large party of high school girls on the patio. In out early 60’s we felt like we might have been bringing down the average age. In summary, you can’t go wrong here for good old fashioned service and well cooked food. Try the bar upstairs. It’s a hoot!

Great!

Visited Bistro 31 with a large group after graduation. A few more people ended joining our group. The restaurant was quite busy but I thought our server did a great job attending our table. Excellent food. Fantastic cocktails. Great experience!

Don’t let the mall location fool you

This restaurant is the real deal. The concentrated menu covers all the food groups, ethnicities and tastes anyone would be looking for. Yes they are as expensive as one would expect in this neighborhood but the food and service equaled my expectations. My impression was that mostly locals were dining here and that’s a positive. Service was detailed and well-paced. The indicator I use is whether I would eat there again and this is a absolute yes.

Highland Park

Real busy on this Thursday afternoon for lunch. Perhaps because it was St.Patrick's day. A definite place for Highland Park socialite snoots. This does not take away good service and good food and very well trained staff. The menu is well balanced and offers almost anything one would wish for. Be prepared to pay fine dining dinner prices for lunch.
