Consistent

I have dined at the Bistro Garden a few times now for business luncheons. The food and the service are pretty consistent. The parking is pretty easy, they have a parking lot in the back of the building.

Baby Shower eloquence

By pukasch |

It was a beautiful brunch for a baby shower for twin girls. The restaurant was beautiful, the help extraordinary. They helped carry presents and flowers and the cake in and out again. The food was delicious too. The setting was bright, cheerful and elegant. It was a special day for the mom to be.

Lovely & Delicious

By Carol K |

My adult children and I went for an early New Year's Eve dinner. The choices on the set menu were varied enough so each of us were able to order well. Duck, steak, fish were delicious. The atmosphere was festive, including live piano music. Lovely.

Beautiful site for an intimate wedding

By Lisa K |

We attended a small (24 guest) wedding here the weekend after Christmas (I know...who get's married around Christmas...smh), and it was SO lovely. The ballroom where the festivities were held was the perfect size for our party. The bride and groom were doing it all for the second time, so they cut a few corners on flowers and decorations and splurged on the food and location. The room has 4 crystal chandeliers and a fireplace, which gave all of the photos a lovely golden glow. The dinner where they announced their engagement was also here, and I do have to say that meal was a bit better. Then we had the seafood tower, and I ordered the stuffed chicken breast. It was divine. For the wedding, they had light finger foods, which were delicious and then a sit-down dinner after where I got to try the beef wellington. Having never enjoyed this dish before, I thought it was really well-prepared. Mashed potatoes, instead of mashed beets, might have been a better compliment (in my opinion), but the food and wine was great and it was a beautiful and classy event from start to finish.

Valentine dinner gone wrong

By Hagopyouredjian |

I went with my wife for a Valentine’s dinner . Unfortunately was one one of the worst experience I have ever had The dinner was cold stale and we believe it Was hours in advance and both me and my wife got just taking one bite Shame on the management who wanted to make a quick buck and lost a loyal client for good

Birthday Lunch

By SJR55 |

This has always been a family favorite for celebrations large and small, both for lunch and dinner. Classic wood bar area with piano. Professional wait staff. Large room for private events available. Delicious food and presentation. Special holiday meal menus. Main dining room designed as an arboretum with twinkle lights and balconies. Reminiscent of days gone by. Should be enjoyed as a leisuely meal. Birthday guests receive complimentary chocolate lava cake with whip cream. Must be ordered when you are first seated. All that said, it is expensive and there is a valet parking fee. But it is has easy access for guests with mobility handicaps. Parking can be paid inside on credit card with an automatic $1.50 tip. Easiest to have cash for valet. This visit I was disappointed when both our coffee cups arrived with stained cracks/chips. Also, bottom of butter dish had tomato sauce on it when placed on our white linen tablecloth. This was the first time we have experienced this lack of attention to the table set up. Hoping it was just an off day Will return.

Excellent restaurant

By Netheredger |

This is an outstandingly good restaurant providing a calm, comfortable oasis in the somewhat busy and chaotic city that LA presents to the visitor. It provides a lovely garden room/conservatory feel and ambience with a piano player in the corner of the large dining room adding to the relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. Staff are consistently friendly, helpful and efficient. The menu includes some excellent seafood/fish dishes and the seafood risotto I chose was superb. There is also a very good selection of beer and wines. It's not cheap but it is very good value for money with high quality food. The only disappointment is the end of the evening when it comes to time to leave. Can't recommend this highly enough. If you're anywhere in the area I can't believe you'll find any better restaurant to go to.

Enjoyable New Year's Eve Dinner

By Debbie S |

Our family enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Bistro Garden on New Year's Eve. The food was delicious and the service wonderful. Can't wait to go back.

Great atmosphere.....great food

By awinrm |

Probably one of the Valley's best restaurants in terms of food and atmosphere (like an indoor garden). All dishes are very well prepared and presented....save room for a terrific soufle for dessert.

Best Ambience in the Southeast San Fernando Valley

By Bill S |

I first visited The Bistro Garden in 1990, their inaugural year. My most recent visit was last Saturday evening, November 4th. Since 1990 to the present I have dined there scores of times so my review encompasses The Bistro Garden’s 27-year history. The owners have maintained uniformly high standards in food quality and service throughout the entire time. And this is always accentuated by their high vaulted ceiling, skylights, crystal chandeliers and garden-like feel. Even the chairs are comfortable. After reading several of the less than favorable reviews I was left scratching my head. Having dined at some of the finest restaurants from San Francisco to New Orleans to the Caribbean I have to say that a guest at The Bistro Garden must *really* work at not to have a good experience there.

Beautiful But!

By Bob S |

This is the first time I have been to Bistro Gardens in years. It is a beautiful place to go for special occasions. You could easily have a part y there. The Food is reasonably good. Price just slight on the higher side. I Issue or Problem: Service, service! Could not put my finger on the problem (grew up in the restaurant world). They had plenty of help and were not overly crowded. But service was less than expected.

Top notch for food, ambience, and service. . .

By Cattylea |

This is such a lovely spot and is conveniently located between the San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles. I have been treated as a guest on several occasions and have always come away feeling pampered. The dining area is open, like a garden atrium, and is surprisingly quiet,. I recommend it for special gatherings and private parties; however, I've yet to find a restaurant which doesn't give curt service on holidays like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. The menu offers variety without being overwhelming, and the food is consistently tasty and well presented. I give my highest compliments to the servers who promptly take care of every need while being unobtrusive. This is a perfect venue for a weekend brunch, ladies' luncheon, or a romantic dinner for two.

Superb

By Hebert778 |

A frequent visitor here. Always great food, great service & beautiful courtyard appearance (indoors). Reservations acknowledged on time. Perfectly made cocktails. Piano player in bar (classy, not noisy). I highly recommend the chilled seafood platter & the herb crusted salmon. But you MUST save room for the chocolate soufflé - you won't be disappointed! My husband & I usually share a soufflé. This is our "go-to" restaurant for special occasions. But we often sneak away for a nice long lunch. Great for business meetings too. A+ in my book.

Try the chilean sea bass if its available

By deruo |

A group of us went for dinner and we all had a great time. I think the sea bass was the best fish I've had in a long time, and the chocolate souffle?, well I could have easily had another one! Great service and a very talented pianist was there the night we were there. I look forward to going back - I'm going to have dreams about that souffle!

Dependable and Always Good

By Kari R |

Great bar, lovely room w/piano music. A perfect date night spot where the ambience invites good conversation. Generally an older crowd but if you like peaceful w/excellent food and lovely environment don't let your youthful age stop you. Love this place

Way overpriced for what you get

By Rogerdob |

The location is not terrific...the restaurant sits at the end of a high-end strip mall, right next to a Baja Fresh and under a Real Estate office. Once you get inside, it initially looks beautiful but it feels a little pretentious considering the location...I think it wants to be a restaurant like one might find along Fifth Avenue in New York City. The items on the menu are very expensive...even for lunch. Most people in my party got various types of salads...they were good but seemingly not worth the price. I ordered a hamburger ($18!) which turned out to be tasteless...the meat was really dry...no juice at all. However, I loved the french fries. Service was OK, the wait staff was not too proficient in English, which makes it hard to communicate.

A Class Act!

By LetsPack! |

A wonderful venue for romance, special occasions & family events. We have had fabulous service over the years. We have celebrated our engagement, baby shower & many more memories there. The food is delicious & the service is the best!

Lovely brunch for a group

By Ashlander |

Qe choose this restaurant as a good place to have brunch with a group of 6 and were not disappointed. They have a lovely dining room With big round tables that are perfect for groups; in fact most of the patrons were in groups of 6 or more when we were there. The food was very good, service same, and prices appropriate to the overall exoerience. I'd definitely recommend as a good spot to have Sunday brunch with your family or group of friends.

Do not go on a Holiday!

By Debra S |

Although we have gone to this restaurant for Holidays for many years, last year and this were markedly worse as far as service and the time it took to be seated. It took a long time to get seated, despite specific reservations. Once seated, it took two requests for water and we had to wait a very long time for our food orders to be taken. My wine came very slowly and the food was not that great, although plentiful. I would not recommend this restaurant for Holiday meals. Go somewhere else.

Beautiful, but please change up the menu

By Debra S |

We go there with family for most major Holidays. Easter Brunch was lovely as usual. Service was excellent! Unfortunately the roast beef I ordered was pretty much flavorless. I was not going to eat mine, told the server to bag it so I could "bring it home to the cats". He was very gracious about it & offered me something else from the menu and took it off my bill without me even having to suggest it. That's a classy place! Still, I thought that they could have done better with the menu this time. Poached salmon was the anemic farmed kind, not wild caught which I would have much preferred. Once in a while I'd like to see them go out on a limb: serve lamb, duck, pheasant or something interesting with chicken, even (without going all "trendy" on us..

Nice place, horrible food

By Sue |

We were a group of 14 ladies on a Monday night, I cannot begin to say how disappointed we were, to start with, the pate they give you with the bread is totally disgusting, next we order Athens special fish which we were told was sole, instead we got sword fish, other people ordered substitutes with their food, three of them got them wrong, there was no manager and no one really cares, it would have all been okay if the food was good, all 14 of us were extremely disappointed with our food, it was simply not good at all, when you pay $40+ for a dish, you expect good food, it tasted horrible, nevertheless, this is the last time all 14 of us will ever step foot in this place, definitely not worth the money, we all felt that way, just because the place is nice on the inside is definitely not enough, we paid the bill with a hefty tip, but they will never see our faces is is LA, good restraints are everywhere, I most definitely would never recommend this place for their lousy food.

Amazing food and the friendliest and most attentive service.

Great service, great food

By Mardi M |

Excellant service and the Hostess remembered we were celebrating a birthday and had the piano player play happy birthday when they brought out a dessert and candle. Great chocolate soufflé!

Ageless

By Jeff H |

There's something to be said about classic Old School white table cloth service. Bistro Garden is such a place. Elegant dining, service and food. Good Wine list and atmosphere. Try the Chocolate Soufle' for dessert.

Brunch

By Michael M |

This is a wonderful restaurant. It is a beautiful light and spacious setting. Everything about this place is top notch. The staff is wonderful and serve you without being overbearing, but making sure your every need is taken care of. The atmosphere is like a beautiful garden indoors. The Food matches the service always first class. This is one of my favorite Brunch spots in a city that has many great Brunches. The bar like the restaurant is class all the way, beautiful with well made drinks along with a great Wine list. Whether a romantic dinner for two or a large party, this will be an event to remember. Wonderful food a great setting and service to match.

World Class Dining!

By Aviatorworld |

I first visited the Bistro at Coldwater when it opened in 1990. I quickly fell in love with the place and have been back many dozens of times for business as well as family lunches, dinners and corporate parties. The Bistro at Coldwater has never provided anything less than friendly, excellent service, with exceptional food, in a beautiful warm setting reminiscent of the French Riviera. Unlike many LA restaurants, there is convenient valet parking immediately at the back door entrance. You walk in and immediately feel like you have been transported to Europe, with flowers, beautiful wood tones and a warm greeting from the staff. They have a separate bar with romantic piano music in the evening. The main dining room has a light airy high gazebo style ceiling, with wicker chairs and terra cotta tile floor. The tables are placed so that one can carry out a private conversation. They have a fine wine list and menu. A personal favorite is the chicken curry with rice, Caesar salad and wonderful chocolate souffle, that is baked and should be ordered during the initial order. Over the years I have seen many celebrities in the restaurant, no doubt due to it's proximity to the nearby TV and movie studios. On one occasion, Ray Charles was visiting and set down at the piano to entertain the other patrons. Owners,Greg and Carolyn Pappas, and their staff have maintained high standards over the years and provide a world class dining experience from beginning to end. What a gem!

Great for Sunday Brunch

By Ernest Kung |

The sunny atrium provides a relaxing space to enjoy a Sunday brunch. The service staff is top notch. I'd describe the menu as leaning toward "traditional" rather than "experimental." There are plenty of restaurants in LA that do experimental, but sometimes you just want to enjoy a quality meal that is consistently traditional.

Very pleasant room with good food and friendly service

By Traveling_a_lot4fun |

Our large group was well taken care and special requests were handled perfectly. The halibut and the lobster pasta were the standouts. I always appreciate easy valet parking...but self parking was also nearby.

Bistro

By Thom P |

Great valley restaurant, very open dinning room charming and comfortable. Excellent menu and wine list, a favorite for special occasions. Very comfortable bar with an occasional piano player; nice happy hour some very unusual characters. You never who might show up actors to singers and anything in between, very fun.

Holiday lunch

By Sherry K |

I have eaten here many many times. My friend and I always have our holiday lunch at the bistro garden because it is decorated so beautifully. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed in our meal. I made the reservation ten days in advance, as it is very busy during the holidays. When we arrived they wanted to seat us side by side at a banquet table. Two women side by side. Not acceptable. After stating we had a reservation well in advance we were seated at a table for two near the Windows. The service was excellent but the food was very disappointing. We each ordered a different salad. Mine had shrimp and mango and the mango was not ripe and the shrimp was hard, like it was just defrosted. My friends Cobb salad looked sad. Lettuce was brownish and she said it wasn't very good. We did enjoy our chocolate soufflé. Prices are expensive. Very disappointing. Next year we will not be returning.

Very Pleasant

By PlatinumHoney |

So, now have been here twice. Had friends not invited us here for time 2, not sure we would have returned on our own, but glad we did. First time end of July: Yes, the trout almondine was excellent, well-prepared and tasty with wild rice, and the bread was good and frequently served (along with butter and some foie gras [fake, vegan?] looking option that was pretty bland), and even the service was fine, but it was old school, boring and loudly punctuated by a piano player despite sitting in the farthest table away from him. Tuna tartare starter was just OK. Large open space, decor fine, but just no character or anything special here. Second time: Just last night, and we had terrific branzino perfectly prepared (with half of it coming home because the portion was so large), terrific service, and the piano player was more subdued. Really had a good meal and the ambiance was such that you actually could hear each other talk. Glad we revisited, and now, would go again.

Old School, but always fantastic !

By Jeff H |

Year after year, Bistro Garden never disappoints. The food, drinks and service are always excellent. Old school but has withstood the test of time. Get the Soufflé’, it’s a dessert staple at Bistro Garden.

Three strikes and you're out!

By Sherri E |

We wanted to go out nice for a date night so we made reservations here. Great food, great atmosphere.....right? Well, wait staff was great, my dinner was good, but my husband ordered a medium cooked filet which was over well done. No problem "we'll cook it again. Out comes the steak again and it was literally raw! No problem please cook it some more. Back again with a new steak... red, raw breathing , mooing and fatty. "Can we just have the soufflé please? They comped him a cup of coffee.

Always fabulous

By Goldie C |

Great food. Great staff!!!!! I have been to this restaurant two years in a row and the service and the food is outstanding! Very nice atmosphere. Definitely a must if you don't mind spending a little more money for a great dinner!!!!

Wonderful ambiance!

By missy004 |

We found this restaurant to be lovely, with a most pleasant and attentive staff ..and wonderful ambiance... We joined some friends here, who referred I to it as their "favorite, special occasion place!" ..and we soon learned why! The menu was fun, varied, and interesting! Lots of healthy choices (for those so inclined!) and lots of other choices for people who want to enjoy a great meal! And..the chocolate soufflé is everything they said it would be..delicious!

A Classic as elegant as always

By Jeff H |

I can't say enough great things about Bistro Garden. Nice people that have been there for years, I like seeing familiar faces. Excellent selection of Liquor and Wines. Great selection off the menu and don't miss out the soufle'.

Best Chocolate Souffle

By Lori B |

Meals are always top notch, but I go for the desert. Chocolate Souffle is decadent, yet light and fluffy. The molten chocolate flows from the perfect sponge... the accompanying whipped cream is what sends it over the edge. Order at time of meal order in order to get it in time as they are individually made and take 40 minutes.

Typical Old School - white table cloths and upscale

By 6sandy6 |

Beautiful setting and lovely ambiance. Excellent service. Menu is limited but adequate and typical of this old school restaurant with normal favorites - fish, steak. Dependable but nothing unique or creative in the food selections. Go for a special occasion

Very disappointed

By david112233445 |

Over the years I have always thought it one of the top restaurants in our area. Tonight we went out to dinner and my Wife's salmon while good tasting came out five minutes prior to my dinner. I ordered a filet medium and when it finely came out, it was well done and not medium. I requested it be redone and the second time it came out cooked less than rare. I requested they put it back on the grill and they took it back to the kitchen. Instead of cooking it a little more, they brought me out a new steak. On the third round, I received a fatty under cooked piece of meat. By this time, my wife had finished her meal, so I said never mind and just bring out the dessert They said okay and told me the soufflé and coffee were on the house. They came closer this time, but when the bill came out, the coffee was not charged but I still had to pay for the soufflé which was on the bill. It should be further noted that although reasonably nice and clean, the restaurant is dated and the temperature inside made it very warm and stuffy. I guess overall, my expectations were not close to being met and I left extremely disappointed. I have been to this restaurant several times over the years, but unfortunately will not be going back.

An elegant dining experience

By Marcia1_9 |

We celebrated our birthdays at the Bistro Garden. The room is lovely, the service attentive, the food delicious and abundant and the chocolate soufflé lived up to its reputation.

Classic beautiful restaurant!

By S N |

This restaurant never disappoints. Great menu, always something that you want to eat. Friendly servers. They pour a generous drink , unlike a lot of places today. Family run. Beautiful room, and flowers. Can get a bit noisy when busy. In the evenings they have a piano player. Just a great place to go for lunch or dinner, we prefer dinner.

Chocolate Souffle to die for

By Jenny K |

The chocolate soufle was the draw, I had it several years ago and when looking for a place for coffee and desert this was perfect.

Fine Restaurant, Pleasant Atmosphere,Spend and Get What you Pay For

By StevePacificNW |

A restaurant of Grand Design (high ceiling, great taste in furnishings, a feeling of being pampered). Pate brought automatically with delicious bread; deferential wait staff; undeniably wonderful food. Slight glitch: We ordered a Black Russian (bar drink) and were brought a White Russian by mistake, but it was as easily corrected as it was surprising. I was particularly pleased that there were no screaming children in high chairs throwing food. That alone helps significantly to make the high tab worthwhile.

Chilled Martini Glass Was A Great Start

By dwfilice |

Let me start by saying the Bistro Garden is a high class resturant and bar geared for the conservative crowd that is interested in great drinks, great food & great service, not loud tight crowds with loud music. My wife and I had been here a few times before and tonight (my first Friday off of work in 2 years) we decided to go early to have a drink before we had dinner at home. Our oldest son (32) joined us. I started with a simple Gin Martini and I am very critical of how I receive my Martini. Kudos to Bistro Garden who serves their Martini in a very chilled glass, not room temperature. My wife and son started with a cucumber fizz (deliciously refreshing). My son the moved to a Kentucky Mule (Bullit Bourbon, ginger beer, lime juice) served in a very proper copper mug. Our drinks were perfect, not often achieved. Served were home made potato chips (cross-cross cut russet potatoes).

great food and music

By herb h |

met my granddaughter and friends here. enjoyed the happy hour. excellent pizza and appetizers at half price. piano music of old standards was vey pleasant background music. place is very pretty and service superb.

Beautiful Birthday Brunch

By David E |

Enjoyed a delicious meal in a beautiful setting for multiple birthdays with friends. The setting, although in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, seems to be in a small, quaint village. The service was impeccable. We heartily recommend Bistro Garden for any special occasion.

Good food very loud

By John Bradley |

We found the food very good. Large portions and good quality. The service was excellent. Very nice having a live piano playing. We did however have a very hard time having conversations. High ceilings and hard architecture made the evening uncomfortable.

Beautiful Restaurant great place to go woth friends

By Suzanne7Losangeles |

This is a wonderful restaurant to go with friends. It is beautiful inside. Also very romantic for couples. And you can talk and hear - with lovely live piano music in the background. Friendly, professional service. The food is excellent! Nicely prepared fresh cod with a puttanesca sauce. Do not miss the hot chocolate soufflé.

Over 60 crowd are only ones who can love this slow service

By Cindy B |

Yikes! Although I'm sure the owners must mean well and are very kind, be advised to not put this on your "to eat here" list unless you're over 70 and used to waiting a very, very long time. Think "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" gone slightly awry in terms of decor and ambience. The place had a plethora of waitstaff yet we still, ironically, waited to get our menus, let alone order a drink. Lots of servers on duty who moved from one end of the dining room to the other to stand in classic fig leaf position yet somehow managed to miss the fact that we were waiting for drinks, our check - our escape! There's lots better to sample in the neighborhood.

Old line classic restaurant has seen better days

By Randi R |

This offshoot of a classic restaurant opened, maybe, 25 years ago. It's a gorgeous room, light and bright in the daytime, beautifully lit at night. When my friends suggested coming here, I was surprised to learn Bistro Garden is still open. The chocolate souffle (order when you order your main course) is still as fabulous as ever. Not so for the rest of the menu. Our appetizers, salads and entrees were okay, not awful. Not especially delicious or memorable either. Perhaps the menu is what it was many years ago and my tastes are updated? Hard to say but we don't plan to go back. P.S. We are mid-sixties and probably the youngest diners that night.

The oddest, uncomfortable place I have been in years

By scottreynolds75 |

Upon entering you smell a sweet bathroom cleaner odor coming from the bathrooms to your left. (more on that later). Upon the next set of doors to a "garden" room designed in the 80's. Oak, tile, white table cloths, wicker furniture, just hideous. Would you like a drink the water asks, sure do you have a cocktail menu, yes, pause, can I see it. Cocktail menu doesn't list any of there liquors but only wines and come overly sweet uninspired cocktails. So I go to the bar to see what liquor they have an order a gin. The service from there on was questionable and seems to be staffed by an odd assortment of characters that found their career at this lonely place. The menu had an assortment of dishes that made no sense but I found a curry chicken dish which was like chicken cacciatore my mom would make with Campbell's mushroom soup. Upon visiting the bathroom I witness a staff member rush in and out quickly flushing ever urinal and toilet which I thought was strange but also a nice touch to keep fresh water flowing - but then he went right back out in the restaurant without washing his hands. Pointer - the toilet handle is the dirtiest part in a bathroom. Then I saw him shaking hands and opening doors for departing guest. I mentioned this to the front desk and manager and they called him over immediately at which point I exited "stage left" so that I wouldn't be targeted for a little extra something in my food from a disgruntled server. I couldn't wait for the dinner to be over.

Great setting for a special dinner

By spitfire460 |

For speical occasions we almost alwasy go to Bistro Garden. The decor is wonderful. Service attentive and main courses excellent, but we always order choclate souffles for desert. Have to order them when you place the dinner order, but well worth the wait. Generally share one souffle for each two people as it is very rich when you add the real whip cream that comes with the souffle.

Perfect Event Location

By wenz4bruins |

Someone recommended this place for my bridal shower two years ago. We tried the food one night for dinner & it was delish. We had my bridal shower & all my guests raved about the food & service. It was great!!!! This place has an ornate back room perfect for bridal showers & babyshowers. It's not cheap, but worth it. I'm having my baby shower there now. Great for a romantic dinner out as well, after all the filmed the Jennifer Gardner restsurant scene in Valentine's Day, there!

Celebrating Our 50th Wedding Anniversary

By Bill G |

We flew from our home in New Jersey to Los Angeles so that we could enjoy our 50th anniversary dinner at The Bistro Garden in Studio City. We love the LA area and this is our favorite restaurant, so it was an easy answer to the question "How shall we celebrate?" The ambiance, as always, was elegant and wonderful - including the fresh roses on the table. Our filet mignon was perfect and the chocolate soufflé with a celebratory candle was marvelous. The hostess was gracious, friendly and welcoming, and Isaac, our waiter, could not have been more attentive and accommodating. It was a most beautiful evening for us.

A Favorite with European Flair!

By EMFredric |

The Bistro Garden is such a beautiful restaurant with piano bar for either lunch or dinner. During the day the high celings and decorations have you feel as though you're in a secret garden transported to another country. In the evening, it's a more romantic setting with the piano player in the background and the lights just right. Great place for dates. I have come here frequently over the years with many friends but one in particular, Larry Raimi who is now 92 years young and a wit about him that will keep you on your toes. He's one of the few people I know who I can talk to on any subject, from politics to books and music - to bad jokes and some good ones - from the serious heart-to-hearts to outright silly distractions from daily life. He always fights me about dessert no matter where we go - so I usually ask for the chocolate souffle to be ready by our meal's end and he will gasp in mock dismay - but he eats over half of it! Sumptuous. The food is delicious and has specials. There's an extra banquet style room for special events which makes it private rather than like the Huntley where you can't hear yourself think. I love Bistro Garden, we've been there enough to have a table and they know us - but before last Halloween was a favorite because I brought Larry a special tie - along with an animated talking skeleton pirate as gifts and being the good sport he is, he laughed and promptly put the tie on!

Expensive... not awesome

By Darkdivine |

We decided to try this place because of their "legendary chocolate souffle". So we went for a Pre-Valentines romantic dinner on a Saturday. The food was good, the services was pretty good and the souffle was really good. Live piano music was nice. Was not impressed with the dated decor and smell of cleaning products. Cheap wine was overpriced so we probably will not return. Overall... it was a great 1 time date. Nothing to write home about.

Bistro Garden Studio City - Average

By Vitznau |

We recently went to this Restaurant in Studio City. Outstanding Decor and inner Setting. Menü: tends towards Standard Italian (American) but definitely not French. Wine List: Good to Excellent. The Sancerre was magnificent. Service, prompt, courteous and attentive but not outstanding (not French or Italian). The Tomato Sauce served with the Ravioli was, according to the Restaurant Manager, ,,Made on the Premises in large Batches.'' Aside from the Fact that one does not expect Ingredients to be prepared at a Restaurant such as this in ,,Large Batches'' and despite the Denials of the Staff, there was a distinct Tint of Tomato Catsup/Ketchup in the Sauce. Disappointing, not to mention, it just didn't measure up to Standards for a Restaurant of that Class. Pricing evaluation: Expensive and somewhat overpriced, not creative.

Food and service excellent

By Geoffreylee1313 |

My mother threw her husband a birthday party at garden bistro yesterday. Every course came out in perfect order and the food was excellent. I had cold (supposed to be this way) salmon and it was fabulous. Our two other choices were steak or pasta. There were 40 of us and speaking to our friends and family they said the other dishes were excellent as well. Above all, the Waite staff was always very attentive and the restaurant ambiance was great.

Great restaurant in the valley

By paolok66 |

I have been here already for a bite to eat few years ago and the place is still pretty good . Plenty of parking . Attentive service in a bistro old fashion way . My sautéed halibut was totally delicious !

Disappointed

By robaby424 |

I ordered the oysters, not so good. The white fish had zero flavor and the raspberry soufflé was fair. Beautiful ambiance but that is it.

Great private room for business functions

By paolok66 |

Always a good experience at the bistro ! Great location , the main dining room is really light with high class ceiling. Their signature soufflé is really good . You can rent a private room for events of business lunches

Beautiful Room

By Sherry K |

We have been dining at the Bistro Garden for many years. Special occasion lunches with the girls and dinners with friends. My husband and I had dinner for our 35th anniversary. It was not crowded, but the room is romantic, with live trees and twinkle lights. The food was delicious and they brought us a celebratory soufflé with a candle. We enjoyed our evening so much, we have decided to dine here once a month. We even had a celebrity sighting. No names!

Great ambiance, wonderful desserts but a bit rushed

The setting is very comfortable, with 30 foot high ceilings that really make you feel like you are in an outdoor patio with the stars above (except you are enclosed without getting wet!). The twinkling white lights on the trees give a nice ambiance. The services was fast, efficient, and prompt, although our waiter was a little stiff and "professional." The food was delivered quickly, so the pacing was a little too rushed -- but it was Saturday night of a holiday weekend (Valentine's Day), so maybe that was why. I thoroughly enjoyed the French Onion soup and the polenta with corn tortellini in a cherry tomato coulis was wonderful. My wife was not impressed with the fish (over cooked and from the smell may not have been fresh), and the french fries are way too oily, and were raw in the center! Ouch. But, we both enjoyed the souffle's, which ended the meal on a nice note. Corkage was $20 (even if they had the bottles in stock). I would give them another go, just to see if the service and food improved.

Go back in time - Bistro Gardens - a classic restaurant

We often have family celebrations here...they have a lovely room and a large table which can fit 10 (11 in a pinch). Among the favorites today were the Salmon steak, the pappardelle with turkey bolognese and the chicken breast. There is also a varied selection of starters - lobster bisque, soup (today it was split pea and vegetables), tuna tartar and salads. They also offer fresh made dessert souffles which we ordered at the time we put in our dinner order - chocolate and lemon shuffles were both ordered and all were reported as properly made. The service is generally efficient and they do a great job of keeping water and iced tea glasses full. There is valet parking available which is always appreciated ($6). The decor and waiter uniforms certainly give it a touch of restaurants from another era as well as the gentleman playing the piano and taking requests. It is a comfortable and pleasant room in which to dine.
