During our stay in Chicago, we discovered a restaurant with a special charm: live music and soulful cuisine. Without prior reservation, we were lucky enough to be found a small table, right in front of the musicians. A violinist and a guitarist offered soft, contemporary-style melodies that created an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Still, the proximity to the stage made it a little difficult to talk among diners. The service was quick and very friendly, and as soon as we were clear about the order, we were met with diligence. True to our style, we chose to share all the dishes and try a little bit of everything. We started with a sausage board that included ham, dried sausage and delicious homemade pâté, plus an arugula salad with crispy pancetta and house-made potato chips. As a main course, the fish of the day: a grilled salmon on a bed of quinoa, in its point and very tasty. Considering the quality of the food and the cozy musical atmosphere, the price seemed more than reasonable. A pleasant and different evening in a relaxing environment.

... this was a good restaurant. Not anymore. When the service was not inattentive, it was downright rude. I attempted to get the attention of the hostess. She looked at me, and then moved on. Food mediocre, with the exception of the venison. Wine way too expensive.

We made reservations for Easter brunch this year and we were so glad we did. Our table was ready at reservation time and they did a tremendous job providing us with the request for a quiet (as much as possible) table due to having some hearing impaired people in our group of 7. The welcome, the service, the food and the value were all tremendous. Everything was absolutely delicious! Thank you to all who made our family brunch this Easter extra nice!

Opening the door at Bistronomic, is like being recognized (you may be a regular or a more sporadic or a first time, Madame Laurence will make you feel welcome. Then the decor (a touch of Napoleon III in a contemporary setting. Your server will entice you with Chef Martial specials and with the staples, the seasonal add-ons, the weekly special (like this Tuesday The Dover Sole Meunière ). The wine list is filled with select vintage, grapes and origins. You will find your wine here (if in doubt your server / sort of sommelier by experience will ease the selection). Each and every time: a great culinary escapade in Chicago.

Lovely jazz duo accompanied a delightful meal. A prix fixe 3 course meal featuring handmade tortellini. Wine selection was above average.

If you like outside dining this is the place to go. Tables wrap around the block. We opted to eat inside due to the heat. Started with the escargot. I would skip this unfortunately. It was great it has morel mushrooms but ours was heavy on olive oil instead of butter which I hope wasn’t to cut corners but it tasted greasy. The salmon with lentils was delicious and perfectly seared at medium with a nice crispy top. Both orders of steak frites were prepared properly but it did lack salt and pepper. Artisan bread was fresh and hearty. The mousse creme brûlée was good but lacked the sugar carmelized top. All in all for a Saturday night and given under Covid protocols this restaurant was busy. A gem for the neighborhood.

Delicious meal and interesting menu. Noisy but vibrant. Lots of locals eat here. Friendly staff and owner

Have been for dinner and happy hour. Went recently for lunch with a friend. Excellent omelette and relaxed service. Wine list overpriced so skipped wine. Price point much better than dinner. Always good French/ sort of French food.

7 years later, and we’re back! Happy to say that the food and service is still just as good, if not better! Greeted with a tremendous smile, seated promptly and entrees were simply delicious. Recommend without hesitation, escargot (served without the shell) - sauce is so flavorful that I could dip with bread all night. Also try the traditional steak & frites, mussels & frites and seared tuna special. Baked Alaskan dessert a priority! Thanks for another memorable dinner.

Had a reservation for dinner and were greeted and seated promptly. Had a great reasonably priced bottle of French red to go with our shared appetizer - the burrata salad - delicious over various chopped vegetables, eggplant, olives - quite tasty. I had the duck breast, cooked perfectly and my husband enjoyed the steak frites - cleared his plate! Had the hazelnut dessert - overall a very nice meal in a comfy cozy spot. Would recommend.

The best French bistro in town. Chef Martial will surprise you with great recipes and always new main courses. Service is fabulous and atmosphere extremely cozy and pleasant. Excellent List of wine and price very fair for the quality. I go there often, never disappointed... even the burger is outstanding. Must go!

Bistronomic We started with the escargot 🐌 The apparatus salad and duck breast we on point. The veggie meal was eaten by Roc. The desserts were very good. The lemon Tart was Roc dessert... She spoke with Hillary and just before leaving the restuarant the chef provide a tart to taken home . The executive chef/owner (Martial Nuguier) visited our table and it was very delightful. Lulu greet us warmly and the checked our coat. Shalom

I dined here with 3 friends on a Saturday evening. We were easily able to get an 8:15 reservation. The hostess and the servers were phenomenal (and both spoke French!). Our server made recommendations and was very attentive to everything we needed. I highly recommend this place!

Fantastic find on a business trip. Had a sensational Nicoise salad and them came back a couple of days later. Honestly, The best burger I ever had, refined and sensational.

The setting was charming. Not a large venue but decorated very nicely with great lighting, not harsh. Our wait staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and for the most part prompt. Everyone enjoyed their apps, salads and entrees. My husband's Grilled brie sandwich app, with brie, honey and truffle was exceptional. Salads were large. Coq au Vin was very tasty and tender. Portions overall were large. Highly recommended reservations. Indoor and some outdoor/enclosed dining. Really nice night!

This is the best French restaurant I have ever been in the USA!! By far!! And I am French, I know what I am talking about. The food is really excellent, we had the beef bourguignon, the gnocchi and the profiteroles as a desert. They were all perfect. The gnocchi with the truffle sauce was light and not too strong. The beef bourguignon was just like in France. Same for the desert. I whisk we had the same restaurant in Boston, MA!! The best French restaurant in Boston is not even comparable with this one (and they are 30% more expensive…). I beg you, please come to Boston and open a Bistronomic!!! If you want to spend a fantastic moment, this is the place to be!! The play list was also excellent with French artists of all kind: Jean-Jacques Goldman, Georges Brassens, Johnny Halliday, Eddy Mitchell, Claude François… Thank you!!

My husband took me here for my birthday. After reading the reviews, we were very hesitant. We had a lovely time sitting outside eating. My hubby had the Filet Mignon (which was hot) and I had the Braised Ravioli. It wasn't hot just at room temperature...figured they were waiting on my husband's food. Did not say anything though. I enjoyed it though with a glass of Riesling wine. Service was fast and courteous including the chef who stopped by our table. A lovely thing the Chef did...I thought I had left my credit card so when we went back the next day, he remembered us and called the waiter to find out if he had found it. He was patient and very kind.

We’ve had many terrific dinners in Chicago, and our dinner at Bistronomic this evening was one of the most enjoyable. I ordered the Maine diver scallops. My partner ordered the duck. We were both pleased. We also shared the country pate and the baked Alaska. The food, service, and ambience are first-rate, and the prices are affordable. Bistronomic is a good value. It’s a must-go-to place.

My wife and I were in Chicago for the weekend and discovered the Bistronomic Restaurant close to our hotel. A member of my wife's family highly recommend the restaurant. We had an outstanding dinning experience. We go to France often and it was a pleasure having a French chef and his French wife as the hostess. Our meals, the staff and the atmosphere of the restaurant were superb. We will be dinning at the restaurant on our next trip to Chicago.

My husband I had a lovely meal at Bistronomic. The restaurant has a modern yet comfortable feel and is obviously a neighborhood favorite - there were tables of all ages. The front of house staff and servers were very welcoming and helpful and service was excellent. We both chose the prix fixe menu - a delicious and value priced three course meal. Pate came with crunchy baguette slices, a small arugula salad, cornichons, and spicy Dijon mustard. I had the whitefish, which was cooked well (and hot), and served with ratatouille and eggplant purée. My husband had ravioli, which he said was very good. We both had the “kit kat” dessert - chocolate hazelnut ganache with a crunchy feuilletine layer. Perfect way to end a very enjoyable dinner. I would definitely come back, especially to try the very popular mussels and frite.

Dined on a Friday evening and the restaurant was full. Seating is pretty close due to smaller space but can still hold a conversation. Food and cocktails were very good. Oxtail fettuccine unique and flavorful. Squash soup very good as well. Service was ok. The atmosphere was uninviting as there was very little diversity in the whole restaurant. To be the only patrons of color except one bus boy and waiter left little to be desired. It was nice for chef and owner to stop by to check on us however others were not as welcoming. Very good food but will probably not return.

Had a group diner here. Food was great! 5 courses and all courses tasted very well! Everything accompanied with the right wines Friendly staff and professional service!

Pleasant space. Reasonable wine list. We had several French classics: escargots, duck breast, steak frites and profiteroles. The version of these at Bistronomic, although more complex, were all worse than the original. Not too expensive, but I was happier paying twice more for a dinner elsewhere the previous week.

This is the best French restaurant my wife and I have visited almost anywhere in the world including France. It has an unbeatable menu, from starters such as salads, soups, main courses, desserts and especially cheeses and charcuterie, in addition to being a very cozy restaurant, with good spaces, elegant tables, but at the same time simple without ostentation. The service from the host as well as the waiters is extraordinary to the point that we returned three days later. On the first occasion, even the chef and owner came to greet us since we were almost one of the last diners, and asked us about the food and the service. He was a very nice person to the point that we asked him for recommendations of Italian and Asian restaurants in CHICAGO to which we went for dinner on different days and there is no doubt that his recommendations were excellent. It is also worth mentioning that it is nice to find yourself dining with local people from CHICAGO. For no reason should anyone miss having dinner at this restaurant when you visit this city, it is fantastic!

We went for our aniversary, the place was full we had to wait 30 minutes after our reservation no apologies or drink offered, next the service was totally slow the waiter said the kitchen is full ( thats not my problem build a bigger kitchen) food took forever as well as service Again food is great but service is horrible font expect to be pampered long waits between courses nothing romantic

A few blocks from the Sofitel Hotel, Bistronomic has a delightful menu of French persuasion. In this chef-owned and operated restaurant, everything was outstanding. The salmon was “fluffy” and done to perfection plus beautifully presented with a melange of tastey roasted veggies. The service was excellent, food served piping hot. It was a hot evening, so we enjoyed the fresh air, outside seating. Bistronomic is our new favorite French restaurant in the City. High recommendations.

My fiancée and I had dinner here on our recent trip to Chicago and it was amazing! The food was excellent and the service was off the charts. I had the Amish Chicken and she had the Handcut Fettucine with Maine Lobster. We both loved our entrees. The chicken was tender and moist with plenty of flavor. For dessert, we went with the Creme Brûlée which was also delicious. We will definitely be back to this place the next time we’re in town!

Great place for French bistro food. I have been coming here for the last 6 years. Martial (chef -owner) offers great food with a very affordable price. One of my favorites and a top 30 restaurant in Chicago for many years.

This is an authentic French bistro, with professional service all around, and solid country French cuisine. Every one there seemed top of the line, from the personable French hostess (and owner?), to the French chef who came by and spoke to us for a while, to our outstanding waiter. They served basic yet fabulous French comfort food. We had a meaty country pate, a great salty duck, and the always classic steak frites -- all excellent. Pricing seemed reasonable. All around, a good choice.

Really enjoyed this French cuisine. Dishes were interesting but not non-traditional. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was good. 5 adults. 5 glasses of wine, two appetizers, 5 entrees and one dessert. Nice ambiance. $400 + tip.

Good menu, upscale version of bistro offerings. Service and hospitality were excellent -- welcomed right from the beginning, and our server was knowledgeable and attentive. Food was good, but nothing to write home about. The "Tartar of the Day" was tuna, served in a little preserve jar. However, when you got into it, the jar was half full of a guacamole; and the tuna was minced so fine that you got no meaty texture -- more like a spread than chopped meat. Four "Ravioli of the Day" for $22 (on perhaps some arugula -- can't recall, but it was not memorable). Wines are very expensive -- nothing less than $12 per glass for an average pour. We saw one wine that we had had at other restaurants for $45 -- here it was $70. Not in a hurry to go back again.

We went here with French friends for an enjoyable 'finally we can go out to eat again' evening. Had specialty cocktails -- the Fizzy and a Campari based cocktail -- all very nice. Shared escargot with my friend while the guys had gaspacho. She and I had duck confit while the men had steak frites. Each couple shared a dessert; profiteroles and a lemon tart. All good. Loved the lemon tart and the profiterole chocolate sauce was wonderful. Escargot really yummy too; we were spooning up the sauce after we ate the snails -- wish there had been bread for that. The duck confit was sort of roast duck -- didn't have that confit texture we love -- but it was tasty and came with a nice salad. Although a 'medium plate' it was more than enough as a main for us. We were seated in a quiet corner but it was still pretty loud. I wish restaurants would put more thought into sound muffling surfaces.

We really enjoyed our experience at Bistronomic. The restaurant is very pretty and the noise level was energetic but still conversation-friendly. We ordered from the three-course, prix fixe menu. We both had a large piece of pate, which came with the usual accompaniments of toast, cornichons and great, spicy mustard. We went to perfectly-cooked duck breast which came with hericots vertes, sliced almonds, kumquats, etc.; delicious. Although we usually do not get dessert, since it "came with" our meal, we succumbed. My husband enjoyed profiteroles and I ate part of a very good lemon tart. The chef/owner strolled the dining room, chatting with the patrons; his beautiful wife is the hostess. Our server was gracious and professional. We'll be back to, hopefully, enjoy our meal outside at one of a few curbside tables.

At one time this restaurant served very good French food and offered top notch service, A recent visit with a group found the food and drinks to be poor quality, and served cold, and the server was rude.

Another shinning example of the cornucopia of food choices in Chicago. Stopped in solo, packed place, went straight to the bar. A Memosa, followed by toast & jam. A large glass of grapefruit juice with my mushroom, bacon, vegetable hash special. It was awesome. All in the place we’re lively, wonderful Sunday atmosphere. Try when in town. Enjoy!

Bistronomic, under the leadership of Chef Martial Noguier, is simply one of the best restaurants in Chicago. The food is excellent, from the tuna tartare, escargots, beet salad, chicken, ravioli, dover sole, steak frites, mussels...EVERYTHING. Even post-covid, the prices are reasonable. We have been regulars since they opened. The staff is attentive and professional. We give our highest recommendation to Bistronomic.

The menu is absurdly long and hard to read, apparently changing every day. I had the “prix fixe” or 3-course meal and chose beet salad, lamb shank, and cheese cake. At $46 the set menu seemed like a bargain compared to ordering single dishes. You had to pay extra for bread, which the waiter tried to obfuscate by saying that it did not come automatically. Although warm and soft, the bread was more Italian than French, and the basket came with only one small, shareable dish of butter, which is unhygienic in these days of covid. The beet salad was the tastiest of the courses, but in the dim light it was hard to see the dish, consisting of novel yellow beets, hazel nuts, and goat cheese. It’s hard to go wrong with goat cheese, but the nuts seemed sparse. My main course was lamb shank atop some stewed light brown beans that were undercooked. The shank was sparse, with a lot of gristle and not tasty at all—almost like something you would feed to a dog—and the biggest disappointment. It just tasted like old meat. The sauce, or “reduction”, was rather salty and not of a caliber that I would expect from a restaurant passing itself off as French. The cheese cake was also poor—too lightweight and unfortunately paired with small bits of grapefruit and orange. How hard is it to make decent cheese cake? Lastly, the greeter was pretentious in speaking French to me as a new arrival. Better to speak English with a French accent. What if I didn’t understand what she was saying? Had the price been 40% less, I would have rated this at 3 out of 5. As it was, it merited only 2.

We really enjoyed our visit to Bistronomic. From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted in the most friendly way. We felt taken care of without it being over bearing. Our food was delicious and came out fast.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful dinner over Easter weekend at Bistronomic. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, the service was excellent and we were a party of 8. The food was delicious and I sent our compliments to the chef.....merci beaucoup!

We had a pleasant night at the restaurant: very friendly service, good food, nice interior design and a bustling bistro atmosphere. We spent about 100 USD each including tips and a bottle of French wine for 2.

Nice space, though some tables are a little cramped. Atmosphere/conversation not improved by people inconsiderate enough to bring infants with them. Good, not great, food. Wonderful bread/butter, excellent gazpacho and salade niçoise, improperly cooked salmon, and baked Alaska that isn’t (ice cream with a bit of fruit sauce topped with a section of meringue does not qualify).

I have dinner here on 24th May, 2018. The meal was outstanding. It was a symposium event, so, lots of small tasties passed around, and everything was excellent. As I was not paying, I cannot comment on the value, but I suspect that it is very good indeed. Service was excellent: both efficient, and friendly. I will definitely return!

We had a wonderful meal here with great food and service. The chef walked around assuring the guests were happy. It’s like being in a Bistro in Paris. The escargot were delicious. I could drink the garlic, herb butter sauce. The Country Pate was also delicious. We also had the beef bourgignon and the steak frites with the fillet. The filet was perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce and crispy fries. The bourgignon was not completely traditional and was served over pasta, but the beef was tender, the sauce delicious and the mushrooms and root vegetables were perfect. I would happily order any of our entrees and appetizers again. For desert we shared the chocolate hazelnut bars, which the server described as a French Kit Kat. It was a good description with rich chocolate ganache on a graham cracker crust. It came with two bars, perfect for sharing. This is a wonderful restaurant and we will definitely return.

The steak frites were good, and the wine was good. The service was good and the chef came out and spoke to us (nice touch). The ambiance was a bit industrial for us, not authentic French Bistro.

After a bomb of a jazz concert, I needed sustenance (preferably within walking distance) so out came the phone to see what was nearby. I chose this place based on the menu. I wasn’t expecting anything like a midnight picnic on the banks of the Seine like I had indulged In during my last trip to Paris, just someplace that would treat the food with a little respect and not dash it away like the hopes and dreams of the purveyors who supplied the restaurant. I made a reservation via OpenTable and off I went. Upon arriving, I may as well have been treated like a stripper in church. The look of disbelief when I walked in a stated that I was expected should have warned me to turnaround right then and there. After being seated, the wait began. Per my watch, it was over 10 minutes before I was even approached by the server. After I ordered, another wait began. As stated in the title, the food was less than appetizing to say the least. While showing the patience of Job for the table to be cleared and requesting the check, out came an employee in a kitchen coat checking his phone. In a polite voice I approached him and asked for my bill. He barely acknowledged me and after a moment, just walked down the street ignoring my need to break away. If in the area, avoid this place unless you like feeling abused.

A good fine downtown, with frankly a stupid name that almost caused us not to go. We were worried it would be goofy with such a name. was really just a classic bistro. Classic food, country style in a modern setting. Carrot soup was great, salads were very good. We had two whitefish, a salmon and a lobster pasta. All were very goo, very well prepared and attractive. The menu was classic bistro, so you van get steak, chicken, nicoise etc. Service was very friendly and helpful including a veggie swap the did not have to do. Overall, a good choice if you are north side and want classic french

We made a quick reservation for this delightful French restaurant on open table, service was great, food was artfully prepared, the wine list was also great. I would recommend this restaurant on any visit to Chicago.

Saw it on Check Please some time ago. I am British and love steak and chips and Bistronmic was offering steak frites for lunch during restaurant week.Frites are chips/French fries, my sole reason for living (am I alone in this?). They were offering a 3 course lunch whereas some (looking at you Bar Siena) were topping out at 2. Not many choices, mind you-2 apps, 2 mains and 2 desserts. As there are two of us we managed to sample all their Restaurant Week lunch dishes. 2 lunches at $25 pp actually totaled $73 as there are taxes, fees, tips etc tacked on. Doordash delivered the goodies to our door contact-free. The oven was warmed to 400 degrees to combat the cooling process inherent in delivery. The oven gets turned off once the food goes in of course. We set upon the food like a pair of starving jackals with all the growling and barking that goes with that. A pate with a little salad and cornichons was a winning dish. It was so good I feel the need to have some by my bedside so that if I wake up in the middle of the night it is there to reassure me that life is indeed worth living. Soup was potato and leek and those two belong together in a bowl and in my stomach. Velvety smooth spoonfuls of flavor! My steak was a little hanger steak, medium rare but when reheated in the oven a medium which I like. Each bite was life affirming. Good little cut of tender meat with a nice dark sear. The fries/frites sadly were way overdone. The expected "golden brown" was " dark brown" as they had been in the fryer too long. They were certainly crispy as a result but burnt is burnt and the "truffle Parmesan" flavor suffered. I did eat every one as is my nature, but with an occasional sigh and a Gallic shrug. Madame ordered a Croque Monsieur and her only criticism was "too much cheese" (Gruyere) and indeed it overpowered the ham somewhat and was mushy in texture. But that's a matter of taste and we do love our cheese in America. We shared the two small desserts; a chocolate Diplomate with Creme Anglaise and a Fruit Financier with a delicious Mixed Berry Coulis. Both yummy! Something different for lunch and maybe we'll visit the restaurant one day to get the food straight off the stove, sample their wine and service.

Visited on a Wednesday evening in February and had an excellent meal. Warm welcome on arrival and good service throughout the evening. Good choice on main menu supplemented by specials. Very well prepared delicious food. Would definitely visit again when in Chicago.

Bistronomic is a wonderful bistro specializing in a simple menu that is both hearty and sophisticated. The service is friendly and efficiently attentive to the pace of each individual course. The cheeses are paired with a very nice wine list. If you long for the French experience in a lively neighborhood in Chicago this is where you want to be.

Very much enjoyed going to this restaurant whilst visiting our son. The ravioli was delicious as was the steak frites. Service was friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and was clearly well populated by locals/ regular visitors.

I love the atmosphere the service was great and it was easy to find parking across the street even in Chicago. Try their tuna tartare and the excellent dessert. I will be back for sure. Vive la France.

Quick summary: a nice range of options, both small and large plates. Friendly, professional service. Traditional bistro atmosphere and sheltered outdoor tables. Reasonable prices for the quality. We were guests of friends who live in the area. The menu has a range of classic French bistro dishes, with most small plates in the $teens and large plates in the mod-to-higher $20's (mains come with appropriate starch.) Lots of specials besides the menu posted online, especially in seafood. My friend also likes to put together a dinner of the ravioli of the day ($17 on the small plate menu, but a good portion) and a salad. There is also a 3-course prix fixe with a number of selections in each course, but I forget the price. I started with a delish multi-colored beet salad, and had the beouf bourguignon $29.95, served over linquine with mushrooms. While the serving size is not enormous, it was more than enough for me to take some home for a nice lunch. Others at the table had the gazpaco or fish to start, and mains of scallops or the lamb shank. All was tasty and delicious. Those who wanted dessert had the baked Alaska or lemon tart ($9-$10 for desserts.) Full bar, and an excellent wine list by the bottle or glass. The room looks like a traditional bistro that you'd find in Paris. The outdoor tables are nicely protected from the elements, if you'd like to sit outside and the weather looks iffy. Friendly, professional service. We were here for dinner, but they are alos open for lunch, brunch, take-out, etc. Due diligence: I have to admit that we were not impressed with the coffee. I'd skip it in favor of espresso or something. To sum: we have to keep this place in mind for the next time we are visiting this part of Chicago.

A great, lively modern French restaurant. Met a few work colleagues for dinner in Chicago, and Bistronomic came through as a great restaurant. Food: Very good food preparation, presentation, plating, and taste. Tried the onion soup- over salted but great flavor. The beef bourguignon was served as a large but very tender lump of beef stewed in red wine served over noodles. Drinks: excellent wine list; great “Kentucky Cousin” - an interpretation of an Old Fashioned. Service: good service throughout our meal Ambiance: Classy but a little on the claustrophobic side in sections. We sat at a table in the back room, and it was very tight and uncomfortable. Overall cleanliness: above average Misc- On our Thursday evening visit, a small jazz group played live in the restaurant.

Brunch on Sunday-- everything you wanted, perfectly prepared. Crepes were a bit too cheesy , but the mushrooms made up for it. Omelet's beautiful. Rose wines and Mimosas great Terrific!! Tres Bon.

Came for restaurant week though some of the party just ordered off the menu. Surprisingly easy to get a table for early saturday evening. Servers very friendly. The salads were well done though a little on the small side, duck breast perfect as was the ravioli. Baked alaska was really more a ice cream with some doughy covering, fine in and of itself but not really a baked alaska. Regular entree prices seemed decent. Worth trying though not a standout.

Bistronomic is a little on the cramped side but they make it work. Two of us had the fixed price dinner and it was excellent. Veloute appetizer was rich, creamy and savory; the salad was fresh and flavorful. The fish main was better than the burger. Fries were tasty though a little too salty. The baked Alaska was pretty good, better than the chocolate. Would certainly consider revisiting Bistronomic.

We stumbled in from a walk for drinks and had no intention to have dinner. Decided halfway through the drinks to have an early dinner. What a wonderful experience. We had linguine, duck and the venison. We all loved it. If they have venison on the menu I would definitely recommend that. It was amazing. The service was excellent, the owner so welcoming. And the cherry was the chef who came and said hello and wanted our opinion on the dishes. Five ⭐️

A small menu done very well offers something for everyone! Mussels, chicken, duck, pasta, salad-everything was cooked to perfection. We dined on the sidewalk on a beautiful summer evening. The staff was attentive without being intrusive; the chef checked on us twice.

I came here with a group of people and we had a reservation -- their service was so slow. The food was ok, portions are ok and there was nothing spectacular. I would have thought that the chef would extend a limb to appease us for the horrible service but he did not. There was a person celebrating his birthday for that dinner and there was no complimentary greeting/cupcake, etc. I have been to so many restaurants with the same theme and I was really disappointed with the service at this one (And I actually had to drag my husband to join us for that dinner). The place needs to improve the customer service-- dining out is half for the food and half (or more than) for the customer service.

This restaurant can Me highly recommended by our hotel and a friend but I can’t say much positive. We were seated promptly but in a very crowded banquette. Service was prompt and friendly but the food was not great. Had two glasses of reasonably priced wine but the food not so much. It was expensive for restaurant week. We each had beef bourguignon which was nothing but a hunk of beef, no sauce and pasta with parmesan some lardons, no pearl onions but dry. Maybe it’s a mistake to rate a restaurant during restaurant week but usually a restaurant puts its best foot forward for these and this wasn’t. I wouldn’t go back or recommend it to anyone.

We just happened upon this restaurant by way of the Concierge at The Talbott Hotel. What a wonderful restaurant. The service, the friendly staff and the food were wonderful. The Eggs Benedict were the best I have ever had.

This is a nice somewhat laid back French restaurant with very good food and very good service. Fairly good wine list - a great choice if you want to avoid the snooty places. Consistent.

I enjoyed the pate and onion soup here. Most of the folks at my table had a prix fixe. dish and seemed happy. The service was mostly good. I think they were a little hurried to either move us along or close. It's not like being in Paris where the servers will disappear and you have to go look for them because they truly get dining is an experience. One server literally kept putting his hand in front of me to pick up things while I was talking to my table mates. I stopped talking so we could let him have his moment - again -- in silence. I don't even think he got the message. He could have grabbed everything in one grab. He must have reached about six times. I think he was being deliberately obnoxious. But the pate was good. So was the wine. I might go back. I don't blame the restaurant as my husband loved his mussels. It was the server.

The Bistronomic website advertises happy hour daily from 5-6:30. NOT TRUE!!! Went their on a Friday evening a little after 5 pm. Hardly anyone in the restaurant. We were told that there was no happy hour on Friday. Even more important than the false advertising is the shabby way we were treated. Never again. Stay away! There are plenty of restaurants in this area that know what customer service means.

On our trip, we ended up needing a later & low key dinner option. Bistronomic did not disappoint. From the minute we walked in, we were made to feel welcome. Our server was SO patient with us as we decided on the best dinner options for us. That was the wine/cheese pairings (expertly crafted), some of the meat selection, and baked Alaska for dessert. Add in spectacular coffee too. It was a wonderful dining experience from beginning to end. As you’ll note from the 5 stars - they’re highly recommended.

Four of us, had reservation. Greeted warmly, unusually gracious hostess. Four of us. Split two appetizers. Entrees included steak/frites, duck special, salmon. All very good. Nice (a little expensive) wines, did a great job with cocktails. Most remarkable/unusual was that the chef circulated regularly. Had a great experience!

We reserved an early dinner prior to heading off to the Theatre. A wonderful meal, we enjoyed the three course option remaining from Restaurant Week. Very attentive staff but never obtrusive. I will be back again next time I visit Chicago.

The Bistronomic dishes were inspired. The house-made linguine was fresh and light and the steak au poivre was a bit overly peppery. The desserts were very good, especially the creme brûlée. Definitely a worthwhile meal while in Chicago.

For the price this is not worth it. When we arrived we were asked if we preferred the main dining room or the more quiet petit room. We choose the more quiet room which was a HUGE mistake. It was so damn loud we could not hear any of our conversation - only the loud obnoxious tables on each side of us. People that loud should be asked to leave a restaurant. Second night in a row where the entire meal was ruined by loud obnoxious people. I don’t recall Chicago dining to be this bad and I have spent many years in Chicago. The food was fine - nothing to write home about and when you spend $200 for a meal you expect better. We ordered a bottle of wine and our server filled our wine glasses to the brim on the second pour so the bottle was finished - way over done! Never had that before for two people and a bottle of wine. Guess he was in a hurry. We had high hopes for a wonderful French meal and unfortunately left disappointed and a lot less in the wallet. Such a bummer!

Great creative food, friendly service. Steak & fries were delicious! Perfect tuna tartar! Nice, but somewhat noisy and crowded

It was highly recommended but still, exceeded our expectations and was a wonderful evening. Everything was delicious. I can't think of anything that wasn't enjoyed by everyone at the table. Merci à tout le monde chez Bistronomic :)

Dined here with 4 adults and 2 children for $500! That’s right, nearly $100/person with tax + tip. Not worth that. The bottle of wine and the service were the best. The pastas, steaks, soups, mussels, etc. were good, but not great. Desserts were average. The location is good if you’re on Michigan Ave. or following a day at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Not a bad place, but keep a very close eye on your tab.

I am not a gastronaut, but I am a Parisian at heart. Over the three and a half years I was based in Paris I had the opportunity to learn and live so much from French culture; stepping into Bistronomic for a meal brought back wonderful memories. As I mentioned earlier I am no foodie but I do know when good food is made great when genuine service is made memorable. Thank you Bistronomic for allowing me to 'travel 'back to Paris when I step through your doors and enjoy such a wonderful dining expreince.

Great night with friends! Started with appetizers of a charcuterie board and bottles of wine. Also had a dinner entree of gnocchi that was excellent. Will round up the girls and go again.

Don’t let the dark windows deter you, walk right in to a cozy wood, taupe and gilt Bistro. We’ve been there three times for lunch but read the dinner menu in Pavlovian desire. The deconstructed Salad Niçoise has all the right ingredients but the sushi grade ahi tuna was in two 1.5” blocks and lightly seared on the outside, leaving the interior red and warm. Delicious! Bistronomic is one of the few Chicago spots where I can recommend the Croque Monsieur or Mademoiselle. The Turkey Club was a bit dry but the flavors were spot-on and the Brioche bread was rich. We split the prize winning and decadent hamburger last week. Hamburger patty, a slice of housemade paté, shallots, Gruyére (I think) Cheese and semi-sloppy creamed greens on a brioche bun. We weren’t skimping because we also shared a housemade Country Paté. The paté and the housemade Chicken Liver Mousse are sharable portions. The perfectly made frites are toss in truffle salt and herbs. The portion is large. The blended Gazpacho soup of the day was taste perfect and, although it was blended, still had that tingly bite to the tongue. During the week the waitstaff seated us, once we were seated by Chef Noguier. (he knows how to “work the room” and does so with aplomb.) On the weekends a marvelous hostess is out front and she just adds to the ambiance of the place. She makes you feel like an important patron if not family. The name is a combination of Bistro and Economic and the menu is a perfect blending of each. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g35805-d1178737-Reviews-Bistronomic-Chicago_Illinois.html Most of the Lunch Entrées are under $15.00 with the exception of the Steak and Frites under $20.00. The Appetizers are all under $10.00 The more extensive dinner menu has most entrées under $30 per person. $30 per person in this neighborhood?! Unheard of for the most part. The restaurant has 2 private dining room (seats maybe 16 and seats about 30? We just took a quick look.) and offers prix fixe menus. During the day the neighborhood denizens and a few visitors lunch there but you should have a reservation fo dinner or holidays.

In Chicago, a few days ago we were allowed to dine in the outside of restaurants. This French-owned and operated restaurant is in our neighborhood and the three of us decided to break our virus-induced fast and dine there. Our waiter, who said he was French, took our orders and left. An employee brought a baguette and butter and left them on the table. The baguette was cold and hard and difficult to tear and bite! We were served a bottle of white wine as we had requested. It took the kitchen 45 minutes to deliver our food. The employee bought a salade that we had not asked for and had to take it back. Monsieur had forgotten to add the escargot as I had ordered for the first course. The filet arrived, I had asked a glass of red wine that was on the menu. The waiter left a glass of red wine on the table without asking if I liked it. The wine was bitter and obviously served from a bottle opened the night before or even earlier. Over all this was a bad omen for the restaurant owned and operated by a French chef.

Came here for my mum's birthday which happened to be while we were away. Went for the set menu and it was amazing. The food was beautiful and the service was great, with the staff so attentive. It was my mum's birthday so they put a candle in her dessert. A real treat!

once again Martial and Laurence have put on a fabulous dinner. The French food here parallels that in Paris. each dish is delicious and the service is wonderful. there is reason to keep coming back.

Bistronomic offers excellent food in a attractive setting at a reasonable price for the quality and quantity of the food served. A friend and I were both impressed on our first visit, and we’ll definitely return.

Lively, fun, friendly, crowded but comfortable, great service and cooking. Lovely greeting at the door. Had duck breast and lamb shank -- both outstanding.

This spot was the highlight of our trip! The Brie grilled cheese was amazing, and the Coq au vin was superb. We also enjoyed the chocolate mousse creme brûlée. Our waitress was so kind and helpful, and the environment was very nice and relaxing. Would definitely come again!

Spouse and I in town and took a friend out for dinner. I liked that the wine list was available on line so that I could select a bottle with forethought. Three course prix fixe delicious and well priced. Service prompt but not rushed. Warm night in Chicago and nice to sit outside on the not-too-noisy-or-fumy sidewalk. Pleasant ambiance got us talking and we were there 3 hours; we never felt rushed to give up the table. Chef stopped by which I always appreciate.

Weekend brunch. Bottomless mimosas. Good basic American food at a not too high prices. Very close to everything on a side street.

Bistronomic manages to be thoroughly French and thoroughly Chicagoan all at the same time. My (English) partner and I (American) now consider it an essential element of our frequent visits to Chicago. The experience - food, service, and ambience - couldn’t be pleasanter. It is extraordinary. Go!

We arrive in Chicago late and were looking for somewhere to eat near the hotel. We stumbled on Bistronomic. Two of us with no reservation and the place was packed. The hostess could not have been more accommodating. She said “we will make this work”. And she did. A small table in the corner. Very attentive waitstaff. The food was excellent. Onion soup was magnificent. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will try to get back soon. Thank you for making it work.

We just loved this place. We were visiting from out of town. Had a reservation for two, but decided to stay at the bar with bartendress Sandra for dinner after a couple of drinks. The staff was super warm and friendly. The waiters chatted with us as they came by to pick up their drinks. We started by sharing the chicken liver mousse. It was smooth, whipped with cream I suspect. It was served with croutons and a lightly dressed salad. Perfection. We then had the Beef Bourguignone (sp ?) which was flavorful and fork tender and a local fish special with a light sauce and gnocchi. Had to “sop” up the sauce with bread- too good to leave behind. The gnocchi? Wish there had been more, but I had eaten too much already. Good and service were top notch. This is a special restaurant.

I met 2 friends for dinner on a Friday night. We sat outside, along the curb. The social distancing between tables was great. It seemed like all tables were positioned to be very observant of that. We started with cocktails from their special menu and really enjoyed them. The waiter recommended a delicious bottle of Rose, and it was not even the most expensive! One diner had the special Bastille Day 3 course dinner and really enjoyed it. I had the whitefish which was very tasty. I was afraid they’d kick us out after 90 minutes but there didn’t seem to be any rush.

Last week our governor ordered all restaurants to shut down all inside dining in Illinois which means outside dining is still available. I was determined to enjoy an outside dining opportunity here because we had a full week of above average 70 degree temperatures and Bistronomic is the perfect setting to indulge in delicious French food and a friendly atmosphere. I didn't have time to book an advanced reservation but when I called the owner she was eager to accommodate me and even though all outside seats were taken she reserved a table for me inside right next to their open french doors. Guests are permitted to sit inside by open windows and doors and Bistronomic had plenty of space measured appropriately for everyone to have a safe dining experience. I ordered my favorites which includes escargot and country pate with crispy toast points. If you want your own huge roll of homemade French crusty baguette it's only $2 and it's warm and freshly made served with butter 🧈 and so rich. After my large appetizers I chose two tiny chocolate covered Ganache wafers. All the servers here work as a team so it was very easy for me to get water refills, extra lemon 🍋 slices and dessert just by asking any of the staff circulating the floor. I left and realized my Smartphone was accidentally left on my table and as I headed back to the restaurant one of the servers already had my phone in his hand and gave it to me on the spot. I love the good vibes here and everyone dining here was in a good mood because the atmosphere is so beautiful and the food reliably delicious. I'll continue to dine here for as long as the owners continue to provide us with outside dining opportunities. I believe they even have space heaters when our temperatures drop down. The owner truly enjoys making people feel welcomed and important so I will return hopefully soon!

We were with a group of 17. The service and food here were excellent. No complaints from anyone, which is rare.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely Thursday night dinner at Bistronomic; fresh off the plane, we were welcomed with a warm smile. We decided to start with a couple of house libations and the house-made chicken liver pate. My husband is not the biggest pate fan, but thought this version was amazing (so did I.) For our mains, I ordered the ravioli du jour (it was incredible) and my husband enjoyed the duck. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was lively, but not too loud. If I lived in Chicago, it would be a regular haunt.

In Chicago for a few days of shopping and was looking for a cozy small restaurant with great food. TripAdvisor recommended a few but Bistronomic seemed to fit the bill and it was the perfect choice! We shared several dishes which were excellent and had a waiter named Frank who was the best! Enjoy!

I had a lovely dinner with friends at Bistronomic. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The food and wine were great. They offer a good variety of dishes on the menu. I felt like I was in France as the people at the table next to us were speaking French (always a good sign when you are in a French bistro in the U.S.)

Bistronomic is our our neighborhood and an easy walk from our apartment. But that's not why we frequent it. We go because it's a special and charming room, the food is inevitably wonderful, the service perfect and never intrusive. There are small plates available -- so its also ideal if you're not bringing a big appetite It's a lovely night out and very well priced for the high quality.

We had diner there as it was in front of our hotel. We were really surprised about food quality. Gnocchis were just out of this world, raviolis were excellent and the Nicoise salad was excellent as well. The service was also awesome, great to speak in French in Chicago! Really a must go if you are around the corner.

What a great take on a French bistro. Located in a spacious beautiful space, with attentive service and outrageously good food. Prices are very reasonable.

I definitely felt like I was having dinner in Paris when my husband and I celebrated his birthday in Chicago. Everyone was welcoming, and our food was very good. We enjoyed delicate chicken liver mousse and clams with frites(copious frites)! My rose wine was lovely. There were lots of customers, but it was never too noisy. You can see there are a lot of regulars here….lots of hugs and laughter.

The hallmark of a fabulous restaurant is the unparalleled unchanging quality. We have loved coming here so much over the years, that we invited family from Europe to join us. The food is always delicious prepared in the way that only the French can do it. It is not stuffy or pretentious, it has a fabulous French atmosphere.

Bistronomic is a very Americanized version of the classic French bistro, right down to the heavy black drapes that protect the entry way. The menu is just as it should be, and the French Onion soup and Steak Frites do indeed satisfy.

Bistronomic was a delight on a cold October night in Chicago. We asked the waiter for advice and he selected braised Lamb Shanks and rack of lamb for entrees. Both were delicious. The lamb literally fell off the bone. The rack of lamb was tender and perfectly cooked. The starter soup was squash soup and I would go to Bistronomic just for it. The atmosphere is casual and not pretentious. The food is enough reason to go.

French, but not too French - lots of variation and mixing of the "French style". Good service and nice variety.

Lovely brunch place! Great service, delicious food, and not too noisy. Price wise, this is a mid-range place. Nicely decorated with a very attentive staff. We'll be back!

The vibe, service and food were all very good. The country pâté appetizer was delicious but certainly rich. The Bloody Mary was good but might not be to everyone’s liking because it sways to the spicy side. The smoked salmon club sandwich has me anticipating a return to try some of the other smoked salmon dishes.

They did have a special prix fixe dinner but we ordered from the regular menu for dinner. Place was hopping. Very good salmon with lentils and a creamy sauce. Then we shared a "Baked Alaska". Salmon was perfectly prepared and quite good. Baked Alaska a disappointment. Not really Baked Alaska. 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, some butterscotch sauce and a premade meringue topper that had been torched. waitstaff perfunctory; hostess a delight.

I have not had a meal this delicious in a long time. Just wonderful! They offer 3 and 4 course combination meals, as well as their full menu. Enjoyed a watermelon salad appetizer. But my words do not do it justice. It was unique, flavorful and beautiful. Then I had the duck. What can I say. All served by a fantastic waiter named Raul. It was great. Try Bistronomic. It is amazing

Tried this restaurant based on all the great reviews. I went on a Monday and the restaurant was empty. I started with the country pate which was great. Came with a little salad and accoutrements. White wines by glass were not that good. I also had the lobster pasta. The pasta itself was fresh properly cooked. My issue with the dish was that I did not feel the dish was balanced. The Spanish style sausage overpowered the dish and had an odd taste! Not sure the broccoli in dish was a positive addition either. Perhaps had I ordered differently my experience might have been different, but overall I thought the restaurant was dark and a little dingy. I ended with the Bistronomic Cocktail, which I also found not well balanced and overly bitter.

Earlier this week I shared dinner with colleagues at Bistronomic and we had a wonderful experience. We were warmly welcomed at the door by Lulu, who was very excited by the recent increase to 50% capacity for indoor dining. She provided us with an excellent table and was so friendly to everyone coming through the door as each of the 4 of us arrived separately. Our server was terrific, and we also had visits from the sommelier and the chef and it was a wonderful evening. I look forward to returning.

We got there at 7pm and there was an issue with our reservation from Open table but the hostess was unflappable and immediately took care of us no problem! Our server gave us amazing recommendations off the menu creating the perfect meal. The food was outstanding. It was the best coq a vin I’ve ever had. My husband had the short ribs and they were outstanding as well. We started with two salads off the specials menu and they were both wonderful. My husband had a few glasses of the house Bordeaux. It was a great value and complimented his entree perfectly.

The staff was wonderful. We were a party of six with a very sick person. The staff went out of their way to give os the Best service they could. The food was outstanding. I mean it the experience was Great near north Chicago

Great food here, we went Easter Sunday and had the brunch. Delicious food, I enjoyed the bread pudding.

It’s a nice French restaurant with very friendly staff . Excellent choice of food including vegetarian selection. Highly recommend

Excellent experience at Bistronomic. It’s been a few years since we visited and since we were looking for a place for lunch, we were able to find reservations outside and booked our meal. As soon as we arrive our table was ready and we were set to go. Because he was on a Sunday only Brunch was available and we ordered two eggs Benedict which was perfect for the day and very well prepared. We were very happy with our experience just as it was a couple of years ago. Highly recommended.

Authentic French restaurant downtown Chicago; great menu, good price, nice wine list. Highly recommended for everyone.

During stay-at-home, the restaurant offers a generous menu for 2 persons. I tried the Coq au vin a few days ago and the Beef bourguignon today. Everything was absolutely delicious ! I will definitely order again !!!

This was my first time here and have been wanting to try it based on reviews and longevity. The wine was absolutely excellent, even just the house wine. Having said that, I thought the food was average and way over-priced. They had two menus, and both looked fabulous (prix fixe and a la carte). I made selections off the prix fixe, which was costly and I wasn't wowed. The atmosphere was fantastic and I would definitely go back for the wine and dessert. If you love dessert, select off off the main dessert menu because the desserts going by looked fantastic.

Finally got to this highly regarded spot. Well, all those 5 star reviews were correct - it was awesome. Excellent on every level: service, drinks, food, atmosphere, & everything you could desire. Great drinks, excellent warm bread and a delicious country pate and escargot. Steak frites, filet au poivre also accompanied by delicious frites made for just an amazing dinner. Everything was elegant, rich, mouthwatering and so good. Highly recommend this restaurant, oh and do try their cheesecake - superb. We will return to this French cuisine restaurant and urge you to try it whenever you are in the neighborhood - you too will love it.

We’ve had many terrific dinners in Chicago, and our dinner at Bistronomic this evening was one of the most enjoyable. I orderethe Maine divers scallops. My partner ordered the duck. We were both pleased. We also shared the country pate and the baked Alaska. The food, friendly service, and ambience are first-rate—it’s a pleasant place to be —and the prices are affordable. Bistronomic is a great value, and if you like great food, it’s a must-go-to place.

Bistronomic has it all: delicious French cuisine, wonderful service, and a great ambience. The space is cozy, contemporary, and comfortable. The staff is professional and friendly. The menu offers a full range of classics along with locally sourced ingredients. Our meal started with a delicious house cocktail. Then onion soup and a cauliflower veloute, both amazingly good and perfect for a cold winter night. For entrees we enjoyed two expertly prepared classics: steak frites (great, crispy frites) and roasted duck breast. We finished by sharing a creamy bread pudding with a crispy brulee-style caramel crust. Such a delicious meal -- and a great dining experience start to finish.

What an amazing gem that I had not been to before! Tucked away off Wabash, this cozy spot was beautiful set up with a welcoming vibe. We had a group of 6 adults- with very different taste- in for dinner. Everyone was able to find multiple dishes they loved. The atmosphere was elegant, but not too fancy or overwhelming. The staff were all professional and worked as a team, so you never had to wait for anything. The wine list was extensive and affordable, and we loved every single dish we got. We started with the cheese & charcuterie, a soup de jour, onion soup and escargot. Entrees we had the gnocchi, duck, braised short rib, burger & linguine. All the flavors were rich and paired well with each other and our wine. Desserts we tried the cheesecake, Baked Alaska and homemade kit kat bars (can't recall the name on this one). I can't rave about the food, atmosphere, staff and value enough. I can't wait to come back to try brunch!

Great place for French bistro food. I have been coming here for the last 12 years. Martial (chef -owner) offers great food with a very affordable price. One of my favorites and a top 10 restaurant in Chicago for many years. Service is awesome and I always keep on coming back when I visit Chicago.

This restaurant deserves to be Michelin reviewed because it was outstanding. The service, the food. I would definitely come back again. Loved the prix fixe menu.

Charmant! Elegant charming casual-but-sophisticated dining in a lovely gracious setting! And our dinners so perfectly delicious. What a treat to be sent here by the Four Seasons Concierge. There was marvelous live gypsy jazz music which wasn’t overly loud, just conducive to a very warm, pleasant and cozy evening on a very cold Chicago night. We felt like we were back in France where dining is the highest Art. Everyone in this restaurant knew the treasure at hand. This isn’t a “scene” restaurant, just a place where patrons go to enjoy life, camaraderie and cuisine. We loved the warm greeting at arrival and the friendly servers sharing their joy of life! Next time in Chicago, we’ll be back. Merci, Merci, Merci!

I had the restaurant week 3-course meal for a weekday lunch....and it was "good" but I was expecting great. The celery root soup was adequate; the fish with root vegetables was adequate; the chocolate bar dessert was adequate. Waitstaff attentive and environment is just lovely.

Excellent bistro. There for dinner. Food and service and cocktails were excellent. Would certainly return.

What a superb find for real down to earth french food in a Parisian setting, will certainly return soon

Really enjoyed seating outside, reminded me of street cafes in Paris. Very nice food! Some dishes are authentic French. Some are modern eclectics. Nice!

From the nice hostess, lovely environment, to superb food. Simply and beautifully presented dishes full of delicate flavors. The asparagus salad has magic in it. Lamb, exquisite: My mom’ s steak, delicious; Gosh, the onion soup.... makes me want to go back! Escargots..... you won’t try something better anywhere else. The wines were the perfecto ones suggested by the nicest sommelier and waiter. Last bust never least, deserts were awesome: the cheesecake was the best to me. My family also loved the chocolate one as well as the lemon mousse. Whenever we go back to Chicago we must go there!!!!!

My only average short rib crepe was far outweighed but the exxxceptional pancakes I shared with my sister. Wow, so good. I had a great cauliflower soup and some french cheeses also Great wine and drinks menu, nice people, fairly priced great food! highly recommended

The concierge at our hotel made arrangements for 13 of us for this brunch. We were seated right away & for most part everything was very nice. My fault is with the Eggs Benedict. I asked for the Hollandaise on the side & for it to be hot. It was cold. Eggs were done appropriately, BUT the Canadian Bacon slices were so thin you could see through them, and each slice, one on each half of English Muffin, covered about one-half of the muffin. I did not say anything as I was a guest, but I was very disappointed. Of all things to skimp on !! Also, I had the everlasting Mimosa, but there was so little orange juice, it was like drinking champagne they had put in an empty orange juice bottle.

A frequent stop on visits to Chicago. Great menu, great service and consistently strong menu. It’s relaxed and we enjoy our visits.

Even though we visited Bistronomic on a Saturday night when it was very crowded, the food and service was still excellent And because they don't pipe in music, we could carry on conversations without having to shout. Seating is, however, very tight.

Visited friends here for brunch, the bottomless brunch mimosa did not disappoint. Service was friendly but not fast. Food was great! If you come for brunch plan on relaxing and staying awhile

Just a few steps from the SOFITEL you have a choice of a great French dinner, not too expensive, in an attractive setting, prepared by a chef who actually was a chef at the "Cafe des Architectes" at that hotel. The food can be described as "French Country Cooking with a twist". We greatly suggest that you try the "Charcuterie Selection" (yes, go for the five choices), the "Boeuf Bourguignon" and the Lamb. I am not sure whether the "Steak Frites" is on the menu all the time, but if the chef/owner offers it, get it! What French Fries are concerned I am more a purist, I neither need truffle oil nor Parmesan on my fries, but that's how they serve them. Try this eatery, you won't regret it. Greatly recommended.

just now I've been a Native Chicagoan most of my life and I've passed by this french bistro numerous times without knowing what I was missing until last Monday evening. Well now I know what I missed and I'm definitely going to visit again this month! I arrived at 7pm by myself and I chose a booth table and was seated with fresh baked bread and a menu to peruse. I looked over everything briefly and decided on the special prix fixe dinner with a choice of appetizers, main course and dessert. I decided upon the tuna tartare which came in a cute glass jar accompanied by crispy toast points. It had just the right taste, texture and more than enough toast points so I didn't need to ask for extra. My main course was the seafood linguine which was buttery and rich tasting. There were peas, salmon and steamed mussels in the shell all with a decadent herb butter taste. The noodles tasted homemade rather than store made so if you love good pasta you won't be disappointed. After dinner came dessert and so I selected Baked Alaska which was a combination of homemade vanilla ice cream, butterscotch syrup and meringue . This was my first time ever trying a baked Alaska and I'm certain this might be the specialty dessert they cook extremely well and so I truly recommend everyone try it. My waiter was extremely attentive and the service was excellent because everyone here works as a team and once I finished one course the next delicious delicacy came to me within 6 minutes. It's cozy here and unpretentious so I'm looking forward to future visits.

Bistronomic is exactly as advertised. They have a classic bistro menu that is very well executed and moderately priced. The wine selection is the same. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the atmosphere and bar area leave a little to be desired.

Dined early on a recent Friday evening. Not crowded at first, but a full dining room before we left. We enjoyed our dinner very much..country pate and an arugula and endive salad to start. Salade nicoise and sea scallops for entrees. Delicious food and nice serving sizes. Such friendly service from our waiter and the gracious hostess. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. Another neighborhood treasure that we will certainly visit again!

Found out about Bistronomic while looking for a French restaurant to have dinner at while in Chicago. The reviews were excellent, and rightly so. I had put in the note portion of the online reservation that it was our anniversary dinner, and we were immediately welcomed with a "Happy Anniversary" from the hostess when we arrived. It's a nice sized restaurant, not too big at all, and had a lovely ambiance. The menu was enticing - I wanted everything on it. We shared a charcuterie board as an appetizer, which was the perfect size, and the homemade country pate was amazing. My husband had the steak frites, and I had the handmade beef short rib ravioli. Everything was delicious, and the portion sizes were perfect. We both cleaned our plates. The service was excellent, and they even brought us a beautiful lemon tart with a candle for our anniversary. We will definitely be returning the next time we are in Chicago. Highly recommend.

We had an outstanding meal here. Our server, Raul, was so professional, kind, and helpful. His recommendations were excellent! Everything we ordered was so fresh and flavorful. We ordered a great bottle of red wine from the Crozes-Hermitage region. The restaurant is beautiful. The entire staff were all so friendly and attentive. Eating here was a wonderful end to a nice day spent exploring downtown Chicago!

A wonderful restaurant that was recommended to us by our concierge at The Peninsula Hotel. We were nit disappointed! We were seated in the rear room which provided a quieter setting which was nice.... it’s a space that could be used for a small private party. We started our evening with endive/kale salads which were delicious. We enjoyed a variety of dishes... hand-cut fettucini; salmon; three-cheese ravioli, and steak frites as a variety of entrees. All were delightful and delicious. We couldn’t say no to desserts so we selected a few and shared: Lemon tarts, hazelnut/chocolate bars, chocolate creme brulee, and apple crepes. Dessert pics are below. I forgot to take pics of the salads and entrees!! A lovely evening!

We really enjoyed our French cuisine it was just what we had hoped for. The ambiance was good, the service was great provided by Mark, we would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is a pleasant spot for a casual meal. We both had quiche lorraine which was good. But on the menu it says that the quiche comes with arugula salad. I hate arugula so upon our arrival I asked the hostess if we could substitute something else. She said the arugula was just a garnish. That turned out to be a lie. The quiches arrived accompanied by full salad bowls of arugula, so I was mad that the hostess had diverted me from a substitute. Also, my wife said that there was a stench in the ladies room. I assume that the manager wasn't aware of it.

Food was good--value was good--waiter, although very nice and polite was a little on the awkward side--didn't time entrees and salads correctly, didn't seem like he really wanted to be there, but overall good. Bread was out of this world--perhaps best have ever had in my life....

This is a modern ‘French’ bistro. The food is OK, but not remarkable and for some reason the chef has decided to play with French bistro classics and add salt or parmesan or something to dishes that I don’t think need it. It’s pretty expensive: particularly the wine. The big downside for us was the service. Our waiter was nice enough when we could get his attention, but he was serving a table of 10 (who arrived after us) and could clearly smell a better tip than he expected from us. Thus, we felt lie we didn’t get the attention we deserved. Tuna tartare (in a preserving jar) was Ok, but lacked texture, escargots were OK too. Filet mignon was fine, but small. Steak frites marred by a jarring sauce and over-seasoned fries.

We were in Chicago for a week and tried a couple of restaurants that were different from our previous trips. Bistronomic was the most expensive and not worth the money. We had Escargot ($14) just so-so, French Onion Soup ($11) that I make better at home, and we shared Rack of Lamb ($30). They are all missing seasoning. The meal lacked taste, was bland, dull. not going to make our return list.

Very very average. I had the chicken mousse my husband the pate. Both bland boring and expensive My husbands steak and my mussels entrees both good but not exceptional Desert the lemon tart, the lemon base was split so all you could taste was raw egg yolk and the profiteroles tasted stale like yesterdays choux pastry Ambience and service 1st class. Other wise a pretentious expensive average restaurant Certainly does not live up to the hype

Great place for a quiet dinner or a big one with friends. The food is absolutely. outstanding. Perhaps the best scallops I have ever had. The Fois Gras is excellent. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and very attentive. The hostess is wonderful. The only possible drawback would be portion sizes. While the food can NOT be beat, and the prices are average for a downtown restaurant of this caliber, the portion on your dinner place might be a disappointment; made more disappointing because it is so damn good! Great winelist. One particular problem for me in many places is the rush to turn the table. That does NOT happen here. We had a relaxed dinner with plenty of conversation and no prodding at all. That issue has become my #1 priority lately. Although you see many folks glued to the cell phones in restaurants these days, many of us still share a meal in order to socialize and converse with our companions AT THE TABLE. It is nice to not be rushed.

Mixed feelings about our experience. Food was good but service was subpar. After our party was seated, there was a lengthy delay before our server arrived to take orders. Since we had been sitting for some time, we ordered drinks and meals at the same time. We all opted for the Prix Fixe option - soup for all , one pasta, one steak frites, and two moules frites along with a bottle of wine. Wine was poured and soup served. Soup was butternut squash - tasty and filling. Wine glasses were low so we poured refills since server was absent. Shortly thereafter he appeared and poured the last of the wine entrees arrived- no frites with moules (but with steak) and server nowhere to be found. Some time later the hostess asked about our meals and we mentioned the missing frites. She checked and told us the kitchen was preparing more and they should be ready soon. Entrees were finished - still no frites. Other orders of moules (with frites) coming out of the kitchen. Server finally appeared and we mentioned the missing items, noting that it was too late to deliver them - so he mentioned a reduction would be made to our bill. Desert was delivered with no opportunity to order coffee or after diner drink. Bill is delivered with a charge of $8.95 for an order of frites with $8.95 subtracted. Had to explain to server that there was not an additional order of frites that had not been delivered but that we did not get outr full meals - took some time for him to understand. Eventually we got the message across and witnessed a lengthy discussion between our server and hostess and a calculator brought out to revise the bill. We eventually received a reasonable reduction in our bill. As we were getting ready to leave, the owner/chef stopped at our table and said "Sorry about the french fries". Afterwards we were informed that the frites with the steak were good.

Very cute place, such a vibe. Staff was very friendly. Had the Amish chicken coq au vin & my daughter had the vegetarian fettuccine (which was a chef special). Food was great & had a good wine selection. Has inside & patio dining.

This was a great find! We had delicious food and the service was very good! We even went back for lunch a couple of days later to have their famous burger. It was definitely worth it!

last visit had a lovely bottle of cotes du rhone with their steak frites good pricing on both nice service and quite tasty! My friend says that they have the best mussels and frites in the city and he has joined me for dinner several times The chef is also quite friendly always stopping over to our table

bistronomic is one of the best restaurants in Chicago. The food is amazing, the staff friendly yet professional and the prices are very reasonable. Chef owner Martial Noguier has won many accolades for his creations, rightfully so. We give our highest recommendation to bistronomic

Nice atmosphere and good service. The menu had so many options, it was difficult to choose. They have small, medium and large plates. When they say large, they aren't kidding. My shrimp and squid ink fettuccine could have fed 2 people. The food was very good and I would recommend this restaurant.

On a return visit for dinner Bistronomic kept its 5 stars for food, service and atmosphere. For 2 of us we ordered1 tuna tartare, 1 tuna salad nicoise, 1 mussels and 1 frites and it was oodles. We also ordered wine by the glass and there was a good selection. The maitre d' was very welcoming and friendly, the server was helpful and attentive with our orders and the room was cozy. Although we ordered from the new spring menu, we also had choices from a pris fixe menu and the nightly specials. We will definitely continue to come back to this delicious and conveniently located bistro.

It is one of my favorite places in Chicago, both for dinner and brunch. The staff is super friendly, they serve authentic tasty French cuisine and their award-winning burger is definitely amazing. I discovered it in a famous French TV show and always send my visiting friends to eat there ! Definitely recommend it.

I had a terrific solo dinner here while in Chicago for a meeting. I started with a wonderful tuna tartare and then had one of the specials- pasta with mushrooms and chicken confit with baked Alaska to finish. The food was delicious and there was a nice selection of wines by the glass. Like many restaurants in France, but relatively few in the US, there was a prix fixed menu with a choices of starter, menu and dessert for a set price that works out to be less that ordering a la carte and because what I decided to eat was on the price fixed menu that is what I ordered which was a bonus. It is an attractive, comfortable place with excellent service and was very welcoming. I will definitely plan to return.

Very enjoyable bistro, excellent food, good service. Very french, we discovered it with great pleasure.

You cannot go wrong with this place, great service and excellent food. Very warm welcome at the hostess stand, the waitresses are very knowledgeable about the menu and they make great recommendations. At your first bite, it becomes clear that the dish was cooked meticulously and with pride - no one ingredient is overpowering, each contributes just enough of its flavor profile which leaves you wanting more.

To begin with the service at this restaurant was impeccable. We had a couple of drinks at the bar before our reservations, and this was also an outstanding experience in terms of the bartender and the drinks themselves. For dinner, we had a charcuterie and cheese plate that was over the top. We also shared a small steak that was cooked perfectly. The desserts were also outstanding, and we and our friends truly enjoyed ourselves. This was our first visit to this restaurant, and I must admit it won’t be my last.

Dined here with my wife, and had an excellent evening, We dined in the smaller back room which is more intimate and quieter, but not lacking at all. Staff are all great and on top of their game. Really groans helpful. The food was all very good with strong French influences- all dishes excellent. Wine list not too large, with varied range. Well priced for this quality. Highly recommended.

Good vibe and dishes Went with a friend during restaurant week Very good soup with garlic bread Baked toast with orange is my fav

This place is great! We were there first day into Phase 4 and the service was off the charts good. Sat outside. They have an incredible outdoor space that is even stellar in a major downpour. My favorite was the lobster salad.

We enjoyed our visit to Bistronomic for breakfast! I had the Quiche Lorraine and my friend had the Club Sandwich and both were delicious. We sat outside, and the tables were nice and shielded from the sidewalk. Staff were friendly and attentive. We would dine here again!

Very disappointing food quality. Too many menu choices. Very small tables are jammed packed together. A French Bistro with no French Chamblis??!!

Recently took two old friends to dinner, one has been home-bound recovering from an operation. We were able to navigate a wheelchair and were given a table with easy access to the door. Food here never disappoints, you feel like you're in a bistro in France. French onion soup is very good and the duck confit is to die for. Service was excellent, welcoming and comforting.
Awesome brunch
If you need an excuse to enjoy the great food and hospitality at Bistronomic, make sure you try their Weekend brunch. Bottomless mimosas with just the right mix of Bubbles to OJ, paired with great quiche, Benedict’s, or other delights get the weekend started right .
