average food and no clear vision

By coffee_maple |

The food is just average. We waited a very long time for someone to help our party of 6. The food was nothing special. They're not focusing on any particular type of asian cuisine so they just do everything so-so instead of one thing well.

Asian Tapas

By Onthegrill |

Stopped in on a Monday at 4 with my man ... Specials all around. Happy Hour...buy 1 get 1 special...I'm thinking we are going to eat for free! Nice set up ...a little worn ... but we are here for the Food. Started with the Ginger Margarita...an interesting twist from the usual concoction. A Ginger simple syrup and garnished with a slice of ginger root...we are off to a good start. Presentations are beautiful. When I do small bites or tapas I like to try a nice selection..my daughter & son in law win.. with leftovers. First up Drunk Chicks..Fried Boneless chicken bites topped with a whiskey Soy sauce..thought sauce was creative and tasty. The red curry fritters..beautiful nice Flavor with beer notes topped with Avocado..the Thai Dressing and Arugula toss under the bite made for a perfect sweet nest to balance the flavors. Nice Job in the Kitchen. Assortment of Bao..Roasted Duck had potential but I think they hit it with fish sauce instead of hoisin ... I'm not a fan of fish sauce. The Avocado Bao was a winner ..nice balance of flavors and beautiful little package in the Bao. The Pork was also tasty. Samosas with a blend of Cilantro Aioli was tasty. The Bangkok Barbie Shrimp...delicious flavor...beautiful presentation...but had 1 bite...why...the grilled shrimp served cold..and rare...I'm thinking when I took that bite ...they do sushi and this tasty ...but I like my shrimp cooked. All in all check it out..tasty..love Asian Tapas infusion..I would go back..we loved it! You should give them a try!

Great Food! Great deal.

I loved everything I tried here! The tapas are a good price and lots of options, the sliders were AMAZING! Good service, not overly pushy and got the food out quick as we ordered multiple times.

Revamped!

By SamAdamsGhost |

Stopped going several months ago. The value just wasn't there. We went back last night to find a new and improved restaurant! Revamped menu and better prices. Try the duck egg rolls and shrimp shumai. Excellent! Friendly service.

Groups are ok

Great meal, diverse menu and you have to try the Ginger Mojito. Service was a little slow for our group 15-20 but the complimentary desserts made up for it

Lunch with a twist

By Sarah D |

Stumbled along this place when we had a meeting around the corner. It was DELISH! we had a couple of small bites with one big bite. They came staggered which gave us a change to enjoy them. The crab Rangoon's were the best surprise. The pastry was light the filling was hot and creamy. Great idea! Reasonably priced.

Better than ever!

By SamAdamsGhost |

They've tweaked their menu recently, and for the better! Eggplant tempura is excellent! Other favorites includes their Duck Egg rolls and Crabber maki. Wash it down with a Lucky Buddha lager. Very reasonably priced. Recommended.

Ramen Journey

By Tim |

Best ramen I ever had!!!!! I was extremely curious if the short rib would be tender enough, and I swear it did NOT disappoint. All the food was extremely flavorful. Pricey drinks but very delicious.

Great all around

By adriNorthport |

Excellent creative food at a great price. On a rainy night the restaurant was full and there were at least 25 take out orders. That says it all!

Super cute

This place was adorable and convenient as we walked to Wrigley Field. The food was pretty good and the service was great!

Very Good Asian Tapas

By G5765IIscottm |

Gone multiple times with family and on dates. Price point is very competitive and the offerings are pretty large. Full bar with a lot of unique cocktails. I️ would suggest the crab rangoon, crab fried rice, tarot fries, crying tiger (steak dish) fried chicken and filet sliders. Always have seating so it’s nice to never have to wait.

Wonderful, Well-priced, Creative

By matthewjsaba |

Recently had dinner here as we wanted to try something in a different neighborhood. The menu is very diverse and gives you a lot of options. Looking at the menu ahead of time we thought we were going to try it for sushi but ended up getting a couple small bites, a big bite, and then one of the sandwiches. The cocktail list is very exciting with a lot of options from tropical type drinks to different whiskeys and sake. I tried a pineapple cider and my date had a citrus sake (won’t even try to remember the name because it was so long). We tried the garlic edamame (a little oily but request is with a little salt) and the shrimp dumplings (absolutely delicious). I then had the fish and chips and my date had the Polynesian sandwich. The fish and chips were light and crispy with a great flavor and the ‘chips’ are actually super long taro fries that are one of the tastiest things I’ve ever had before. The sandwich was huge, delicious, and flavorful. Highly recommend as the food is wonderful for a very affordable price and with so many options you could go back time and time again and never go for the same thing twice.

Incredible selection!!!

By rockydogz1 |

We found this place on the website has our friend something other than Bar Food near Wrigley Field. We were wonderfully impressed with unique selections for our large group. I had the quail and a spicy shrimp special that were to die for. The spicy crab Rangoon was incredible. The Taro fries were very unique, crispy and absolutely delightful. We will be back!!!

Regular Diner

By Brandon |

We live right around the corner and love Bites. The food is always fantastic and provides options between either sushi or hot plates. In reality, we normally get hot items because they are so good. One of our favorites is the Bites Wings, but I'd also recommend the Hot Chicks, Buns and Ramen. We are always bringing guests with us - a great group outing to share food and try new things.

Great Way to Taste Sushi and Other Asian

By tisha b |

We went to this restaurant not knowing what to expect. Its small, but it had a fireplace in the middle with a roaring fire that made it really cozy. The staff do not speak a lot of English, so that can be tricky. But, the variety of food is really wonderful. We had four of us, so we tried several tapas, sushi, and other Asian eats. Everything was fresh, tasty - quite wonderful. A lovely place for a small group or a dinner date. And, it is not expensive. We felt it was really reasonably priced, especially for the variety of food we got to taste. Oh, and the desserts are really fun! The peanut butter ice cream - yum, yum, yum! I'd definitely go again.

Yum

I love Bites. I’ve probably tried everything on the menu and there wasn’t a single thing that wasn’t delicious. Try the home made ginger ale, the Bites margarita made with cumin tequila and the crab Rangoon.

Nice asian food in tapas style

By Phongpat Binsomprasong |

It is a small cute restaurant serving in tapas style. There are not so many choices but all of the items I chose were so good. It's for people who wanna chill out and chat with friends.

Very good food, many options, reasonably quiet ambience for a bar

By DMGAmes_Iowa |

More of a restaurant than a bar. TVs are on but set with closed captioning, so the ambience is quiet enough to enjoy a conversation with your dinner partners. The menu offers a wide selection of delicious Asian fusion plates. My main course was shrimp tempura which was excellent. Our group ordered also a number of shared dishes (various buns, dumplings, and California rolls) that were very good. Service very cordial but slow. Fortunately we had planned to languish over dinner and were not in a hurry.

New Find

Suuuper good food and service! Good music. Would definitely recommend especially for food sharing. We ordered 6 plates to share between 4 of us.

Interesting flavorful bites

By Marybeth K |

A great concept! Sampled a number of bites which three hungry adults shared. About 5-6 for two works. Bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms with a sweet slightly tangy glaze were a special and excellent. Korean sliders were prepared in bar b que sauce with just the right amount if heat and included a crunchy slaw that worked well. Ramen was full large portion served with tofu or chicken.Sushi was fresh and platters include miso soup-a great pairing. Strawberry lemonade balanced all choices. A definite place to eat in an area filled with choices.

Quick fast casual

By jhiett1 |

Wonderful flavors on everything especially the duck spring rolls. The cocktails were also quite enjoyable. Very friendly service!

Try the Polynesian Sandwich

By Isaac F |

The Polynesian sandwich was literally SO good. It’s huge and a logistical nightmare, but defs worth the mess.

Very yummy bites here

By Sarah |

LOVED our dinner at Bites with our 6 friends. This restaurant has great fun presentations and the food/drinks taste even better! There is a good variety of dishes on the menu. Our favorites were the crab rangoons, bao buns, and duck fat noodles! The service was good as well.

Sit outside if possible

By Katie S |

My friend and I met here for lunch one afternoon, and were offered the opportunity to sit outside on their back porch. It was a lovely summer day, and great little courtyard, would highly encourage it if you get the chance. We started with the Taro Fries, which were different but very tasty. Additionally, we had the spicy wontons to begin with, which were very good! The plates were very well priced, you get a lot for what you spend. For our main course, we each had the philadelphia roll, which was also very good. Service was great, she was attentive and quiet, but was quick and sweet. Will definitly be back!

Perfect for sharing

By Shofsan |

When I eat sushi or any Asian food, I always want to share. This place was the perfect place for my boyfriend and I! the best part is that you can order sushi rolls in half portions, so that you can try a lot of different ones without overdoing it. Everything we had was delicious, but the top ones would be: crab Rangoon, tuna tostada, avocado bao and Malibu maki. Their drinks are also tasty and strong.

Tasty authentic ramen

By Cheryl S |

There are lots of food to choose from at Bites. My partner and I decided to try out the ramen. Having been spoilt by bowls and bowls of ramen in Japan, the ramen at Bites was pretty good for outside of Japan. They have the soup base right which is most of the battle. The pork is also perfectly cooked - so soft and juicy. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a decent bowl of ramen.

Hidden but worth the walk

By Michael S |

We had never heard of an Asian tapas restaurant got to walk down Clark street where near everything. Is closed on Mondays , these guys were amazing and the food from the seaweed to the sashimi and the crying tacos and the very reasonable prices worth every min of the walk

THE BEST ASIAN CUISINE AND THE BEST SERVICE IVE EVER HAD

By Mina S. |

I went for my 21st birthday. CHAN MADE IT AMAZING. The food was amazing, the service was amazing and the drinks were absolutely top notch. I wasn’t expecting anything crazy but Chan helped me pick out drinks, brought out an amazing shot and provided great recommendations. The food was absolutely amazing, we got the spicy rangoons and they were the perfect level of spice. We also got the Mongolian beef, the steak fried rice, the Singapore noodles and the lava maki. I had the steak fried rice and the steak had this sweetness that paired perfectly with the rice The lava sushi was absolutely amazing -my bf. The other couple we were with said their food was amazing as well, the Mongolian beef was the “best he’d ever had” Also again I just wanna say a thank you to Chan for the amazing service last night. It made the start of my night absolutely amazing and my birthday awesome.

Excellent asian fusion

By Allan T |

Decided to walk in on a whim. turned out to be a great decision. Service is extremely polite, fast and ready to answer any questions. The food selection is huge, but the portions are from tiny to very generous. The taste is exquisite. What I like the most is the choice of half roll maki, so one can try more rolls without having to overeat. Been back a few times and so far it continues to be excellent. The have also a lovely patio.

Dinner for two

By Patrice N |

BITES was great. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the staff was wonderful. A friend and I went to BITES to catch up and we sat for hours! Our server checked on us our entire time and made sure we had everything we needed. We tried squid ink fried rice and it was amazing!! P.S. the happy hour deals are great!

Excellent Asian Tapas

By Jorge L Gomez |

Went with my stepson and girlfriend. Service is excellent with super friendly staff. Very good Asian fusion food.

nice quiet place near a lot of activity

By Michael D |

family gathering to celebrate a teenager birthday can be a tough target to meet. Sushi is often a good option. we found this place close to theater and it met our needs. interesting sushi rolls, nice soups and grilled fish and other stuff. Lots to choose from and a pleasant setting. Would enjoy a chance to work through the menu with more time and attention.

Tasty and Quality Fare at Bites

By Mike T |

While on my way to a Cubs game I stopped in as the Italian restaurant next door seemed to be very busy. I ordered the shitaki ramen and the corn fritters as an appetizer. The corn fritters were excellent and plentiful and the ramen was also delicious with a tasty broth and plenty of shitake mushrooms. Vegetarians/vegans have plenty of options here. The restaurant wasn't busy which was surprising as I was very impressed with both the offerings and the friendly service. I went for a second visit 5 days later and again enjoyed my meal with a couple of bottles of excellent dark ale - Two Brothers Domaine Dupage. Again the place was not very busy and maybe it was too early; but it is a gem in the Lakeview area of Chicago. The food is Asian inspired tapas; but also many standard Japanese dishes to choose from. If you are a fan of listening to golden oldies from the sixties that is what they seem to prefer here. An enjoyable dining experience and hopefully more Chicagoans and visitors discover Bites.

Great sushi

By CDubb21 |

We booked a lunch on open table and we're very pleasantly surprised with our choice!! It's a smaller venue, but we sat at a high top in the bar so it was perfect. Our server was great- super friendly and patient in answering our questions!! The sushi was amazing!! We had 3 or 4 rolls and a few other tapas. They were all so good. The guy rolling sushi was super nice and we had a great conversation!! Definitely give this place a try! We will be back for sure!

Very good dinner

By Richard S |

I had the squid ink fried rice and my partner had the tiger tacos. Both were very good - tasty, well presented. The service was attentive. Well priced for what we ate and drank. Would definitely eat here again.

Fantastic Concept!

By Pam D |

If your a fan of Sushi and Tapas like we are, you'll love the dishes Bites offers, best of both worlds! Located in Lakeview you can walk or drive to Bites. There is paid street parking: beware the parking police was monitoring Clark Street the night we dined at Bites, grrr! Bites offers appetizers such as Taro Fries, Korean Sliders and Drunk Chicks. The taro fries were offered in a cone shaped wire basket and were similar to shoe string potatoes with dipping sauce. The drunk chicks were similar to chicken wings but no bone ;) and the sliders were succulent. For our main entrees we ordered several rolls and were not not disappointed. Service was friendly and fast. We started off with 4 rolls and decided to order a few more. We like the fact you can order a full roll or just 1/2 a roll. A great concept: Asian Tapas & Sushi restaurant. Prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere was relaxing. There is a patio located in the back of the restaurant for Summer dining.

Wow! Great food at a great price. We will be back for sure!!!

By Jewelsworld |

We were looking for a restaurant in the Lakeview area that had a casual relaxed atmosphere and good food at good prices and we really lucked out with Bites Asian Tapas. Some of us live just a few blocks away and we are so excited by this new discovery right in our neighborhood. We loved the decor and the cozy atmosphere. It was a really cold, rainy night so we were delighted with the warm ambience. We've always loved 'small plates' because it's fun to share and this was our first experience with Asian tapas. Perfect in every way. We definitely ate way too much and every bite was exceptional. We started with Drunk Chicken and wanted to order more but we also had Korean Sliders, Edamame and Spicy Crab Rangoon as starters. The plates vary in size so some were petite and others quite generous. We were already feeling pretty satisfied but then the Pork Buns came out along and the Roasted Duck and we inhaled that too. In spite of the lack of tummy space, we enjoyed several sushi rolls on top. Everything was amazing!!! Since we were celebrating birthdays, we decided we had to have dessert too. Overstuffed but really, really happy! We will be back!

Yum, go here after a Cubs game

By Liz G |

This place is a short walk from Wrigley and a great stop! It wasn't crowded at all right after the game, but they had some great food. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We got drinks and appetizers but I could have stayed for dinner too! I had a strawberry mojito, which was very refreshing. I really liked the Bites Wings a lot, they were cooked and seasoned to perfection.

Excellent!

By FamilyTraveler929 |

Excellent food with amazing flavors. We loved the pad Thai - which had authentic tamarind flavors - and the squid ink fried rice, among others. The ramen was meh as compared to everything else we had. Try the banana wonton for dessert! Fun atmosphere. Will be back!

Hidden gem in Lakeview

By Debbie H |

We stumbled upon this lovely little restaurant over the Xmas holidays. It has a warm, homey atmosphere, complete with fireplaces and lots of reclaimed wood in their decor. The wait staff is helpful and friendly. The drinks are interesting and delicious, and the food is wonderful to look at as well as to taste. The menu is a blend of Asian cuisines, with a touch of S. America. You'll find interesting combinations like ahi tuna with avacado and jalapenos. Korean sliders, "drunk chicken," tuna tostadas, and other small plates leave you wanting more.

Omg!

By Austin Y |

What a gem! The presentation alone makes your mouth water! Highly recommend the wassup wasabi drink!!!😍 Service is outstanding! A must eat!

Delicious

By ChiGuyJon |

I went to Bites Asian Tapas after the lunch hour so pretty much had the place to myself. Service was excellent but the highlight was the food of which I ordered more that I could eat in one sitting. Everything was delicious, prepared perfectly. I'll definitely be back and this time I'll bring others. Highly recommend.
