Christmas Eve Dinner

By k4mconsulting |

What I believe is becoming a tradition we had Christmas Eve dinner here for the second year. A very relaxed, pleasant and welcoming restaurant that had quite a few families dining. Excellent sushi rolls and Singapore Style Seafood Noodles. We certainly recommend this restaurant.

Little Katana was delicious but slow!

By jonathanhK7688PD |

Little Katana was a delicious choice for an Asian/sushi meal, however, the drink service and table service was really slow even though the restaurant was nearly empty. Food was awesome in the end, I would have spent a lot more money there if the server had actually come to my table more than once in an hour.

Good Food but slow service

By Doug H |

This a good sushi and Asian food spot next to the convention center. Good food but there seemed to be a lack of attention to service. Things came out a bit slow for about half of our table. Would visit again if at the CC.

Don't Bother!

By William W |

Gave this place a try at the 2016 GOP Convention in May. The worst restaurant of this kind at which I have ever dined. Fellow delegates I dined with were equally unimpressed/disappointed. It's always a bummer when the most memorable things are the libations.

Fresh and Tasty

By TaeguBubbles |

I enjoyed a tasty vegetarian three course meal at LIttle Katana. I ordered edamame, vegetable roll and yakisoba. It was all delicious and well prepared. The service was friendly and professional. I will certainly return to Little Katana the next time I am in the neighborhood.

A Great Sushi Presentation.

By ehroth |

This is a surprise. Very good presentation and great flavor profiles. Service is a little slow, but attentive.

Steak and Sushi in Dallas

By Mike1701d |

A bit pricey but nice steak, dumplings were good too. It's next to the Dallas Omni hotel and the convention centre. We went twice as it was convenient for where we were, but service was a bit hit and miss.

Quick lunch

By G0_Wild |

While attending a convention we slipped out for a quick lunch at Black Ship. We were seated fairly quickly and attended to right away. We had a couple rolls and Bulgogi. Everything was very good and I would recommend this for a quick lunch.

Connor birthday

By Michael B |

Very stylish restaurant. Great food. Many choices..hot & sour soup best I've had. Sarah was on top of all our needs, refilling drinks, picking up empty plates, etc. Great service.

Decent Japanese style next to Convention Center

By terry h |

Cooked food looked better. I opted for sushi, that was OK. I need more fish less rice. Service was friendly, but needed to be more attentive: I hate to search around to get waiter's attention to have a glass of water. Japanese green tea was not worth. It was damn expensive:$6 for two tea bags. Tea bags! It is $1.5 at my favorite sushi restaurant in Houston. And they use loose tea leaves. Stick to water or beer/sake.

Forget it !

By Lolofans |

Had stayed in Dallas for a few nights and had tonnes of steaks. Was looking for other types of food ... so found this place for a Japanese dinner. Disappointed ! Most of the dishes, though given Japanese names, were not very Japanese. The sashimi was not fresh at all. We ordered a set of sashimi to share and left more than half of it un-touched. I ordered a fried noodle. But it was basically a plate of noodle soaked in salty soya sauce which was un-eatable. The dumplings was the only dish that tasted well - but again not cooked in an authentic Japanese style. If you are looking for a Japanese restaurant, forget this one !

Great sushi and other modern dishes

By Fabian P |

Really enjoyed this restaurant; fast, high quality, affordable and very tasty. Took a business partner there for lunch and we had the grilled salmon bento box with some tuna sushi, California rolls and dragon rolls. Nothing to criticise, everything was excellent. The all added up to 60 bucks for the both of us, which I think is acceptable given the quality of the food we received. I would certainly go back there again.

Never order from Uber Eats from this place!!!!!

By Aggie9797 |

F*%$k this place. I ordered via Uber Eats for my birthday dinner this evening during the day and apparently Black Ship Little Katana is under Omni Management and did not turn off their Uber Eats account. It's my birthday and I arrived home expecting food any moment, only to find out it was not coming and the worthless management at Black Ship Little Katana had not cancelled the account but 'stopped' using the Uber Eats application a month ago. This is disgraceful and a lack of respect to consumers that frequently ordered from their establishment like myself. The manager told me sorry and I could come pick up the food but they had no way to get it to me, nor did he offer to take care of the meal or do anything about it. I will never eat here again and recommend anyone reading this make sure not to order here from Uber Eats or Caviar since they don't accept orders from either anymore.

A modern take on Japanese cuisine

We had an excellent meal here. All the dishes were well prepared and interesting. Our server was very patient and helpful. Will definitely eat here next visit to Dallas.

DON'T PASS UP THE RAMEN!

By Jonathan R |

My wife and I were at the Convention Center exhibiting for at the Dallas Safari Club Convention and staying at the Omni Hotel connected to the convention facility. Went in and sat at the bar for lunch. I wish I could remember the Asian bartender who waited on us. She was great and made some great drinks. But, I also really wanted to comment on the ramen! I'm from Hawaii and my "benchmark" for all Japanese restaurants is the ramen! It's what I grew up on! Just like cheese enchiladas are always how I test Mexican restaurants. Anyway, I gotta say, I've eaten ramen all over the country and Black Ship had some of the best ramen I could remember. I still talk about it and would go back to Dallas just for the ramen. It was a great meal. Thank you!

Great restaurant!

By SweetSusy |

Three of us went to this restaurant last night. It took a bit to get served, but they apologized profusely and gave us free desserts! We had the wagyu beef appetizer, so awesome, you sear it yourself on a hot rock, very fun! Two of us had the ahi tuna and one had the noodle bowl. All really good!

Easy to get in on a Saturday night!

By Babette M |

We wanted to grab a bite to eat after being at the Convention Center all day, but it was a Saturday night and we had a large group. We were able to be seated easily despite our large group. The Sushi was good and fresh and the wait staff was very nice, but a little disorganized. We had 3 couples with kids and the wait staff had a hard time getting the checks correct. In the end, they still had it wrong so we just figured it out ourselves. If you are looking for good Sushi and you are at the Convention center, this is a great choice!

Interesting Offerings

By Angus Ogg |

The restaurant is located across from the Omni in the restaurant plex. The offer a fair selection of drinks, the food is an interesting mix of Asian cuisine.

Pretty Good But Not the Best Sushi

By TLaizure |

The restaurant is reasonably priced and in a good location just south of downtown. The sushi was good but we have had better. Service was fairly good but could have been better. They have a pretty varied menu. Sushi, Korean, seafood, steak etc. I would recommend giving it a try.

Another Pleasant surprise.

By MR.KMD |

Came in for lunch. We were greeted very nicely. We ordered rolls the Dragon Roll the Charming roll and the Kantana 101. Each were good and the fish was very fresh. The charming roll won with two out of three votes. I voted for the Dragon roll. We has Miso soup. Nice place would go again.

Good, fast, friendly

By Andre T |

This is a great place. Staff was friendly from the start... and it was a busy day as there was a major conference at the Omni. Service was fast. Food was good...very good and important; fresh! There was enough option to satisfy everybody, but not that many to actually drive you confuse. Definitely a must next time i am around!

Good bento, etc = lots of repeat business

By Mariah S |

I am not adventurous. I just ordered the bulgogi bento box. I loved it so much I returned 2 days later. It was much busier then, but they handled the crowd very well. I noticed several others had returned when I did. It’s a good sign for a business when they get several repeat customers within the same week. Environment is a bit dark, yet modern, with several TVs and bar + sushi bar as well as traditional restaurant seating.

Great Service, Great Burger

By Steve D |

I went with co-workers for lunch but I don't like sushi. Luckily, they had a Wagyu Burger so that's what I ordered with fries. The burger was awesome!. Large, thick patty cooked to perfection on a soft tasty bun with fresh vegetables and some A-1 sauce. The fries were the shoestring type which I do not like so I ate very few of them. They had a good taste though. They don't serve sweet tea here- shame. The atmosphere was relaxing. The service was superb. The prices were reasonable. This was a pleasant surprise to find such a good burger at a sushi place.

Underwhelming - At best...

By keithmCC3646 |

Went on a late weekday afternoon. Waited forever (10 minutes) at the hostess station as employee after employee walked by and bartenders continually glanced at us, but did nothing. Finally, we were seated in the restaurant. A little picky here, but no greeting from the sushi chefs as we walked past all 3 of them (Irasshaimase!). In Japan this greeting is more than "Welcome". It also connotes a "Thank you for choosing my establishment". Our continued treatment of being ignored reinforced our feeling of "the customer is an afterthought". We sat at our table unserved for several minutes (no water - no waiter). Finally we got up and moved to the bar. With 2 bartenders we were finally able to get someone's attention. Now we were in a position of having someone take our order who knew little about the menu choices. When we finally got our food, it was edible, plentiful, and uninspired. I would NOT recommend eating here.

Loved this place

By Amit G |

I visited this place during my conference and the food was really good . We had travelled for almost 32 hours and wanted some good food before calling off the day. We started with soup and then ordered main course. Both preparations were great and the portion size was good. This was exactly why we needed at that moment. Would rate high.

I was surprised! Very delicious

By keishafl |

Sushi was good! The price was good and the servers where very nice. The drinks could use a little help:)

Excellent

By Carol R |

What a delicious meal. I had a rice and shrimp dish in a hot, stone bowl, and it was amazing. My colleagues had sushi, which they said was incredible. Great place, friendly staff.

Wonderful Offerings and Friendly Staff

By Katherine Z |

This little restaurant is located across from the Omni and the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, making it convenient, especially if you are visiting town or attending a convention. The menu includes sushi, sashimi, rolls, bento boxes, and other Korean and Japanese dishes. They have a lengthy drink menu, too, along with a nice outdoor patio on a quiet street. The staff could not have been nicer!

We got our Sushi Fix

By katie g |

We were staying at the Omni and noticed this restaurant just across the street. It was a super find! The sushi was fresh, they had great Saki and some fun local beers. Our waiter was a hoot-not sure he meant to be! Did I mention the fish was really fresh? Highly recommend.

Dessert

By MoWBe |

I was craving for some ice cream. I happen to run into one of waitresses at the restaurant while she was on a break. She suggested her job's dessert. I took her up on it. She delivered. It was pleasing!

Amazing food. Amazing service.

By Trey W |

Do not be apprehensive of the idea of Japanese and Korean "melded" together. This place is amazing a must-see in Dallas especially if you are attending a convention at the convention center. While the menu does say things are spicy the sauce can be served on the side but it is so much better when you mix it in. Ask for Angel he is one of the most attentive and best service I've ever had the pleasure of dining with.

Average food, very slow service

By Fede I |

Very disappointing experience for this location of Little Katana. To note: - There was no host at the front, so we proceeded towards the bar and we were told we had to see the host first. - Once seated, we had no server whatsoever for 10 full minutes. - When we filled out our order in the form, we passed it to the chef and he ignored it and passed it to the server - the chef completed our order and instead of passing to us directly - sitting directly in front of him - placed it on a side of the bar near the kitchen, where it sat for over 20 minutes. Multiple servers went by and no one picked it up! - The food was average at best. The spicy tuna was barely edible. It was uncommonly and unnecessarily spicy. - I told them twice I had a food allergy and they did not change their gloves until I specifically asked for them to do so. The chefs, once asked to remake my food by the manager, were rudely looking at me and giggling/laughing among themselves. The restaurant was not busy, so the service must be naturally subpar, as there were plenty of servers walking around spacing out. This restaurant needs to step up! I will most certainly not be back.

Great lunch

By jimpriebe |

We were at a convention looking for a place to eat lunch we stumbled upon this place and boy was it worth while The sushi was great the toro was the best I have ever had the hot rock wagu and the bento box were outstanding the service is a bit slow but i highly recommend this place

Great Sushi, Across the street from The Omni Hotel

By Midwest Scout |

Nice to have a great sushi restaurant within walking distance of our hotel. All of the dishes had great flavor.

Good sushi, decent prices

By summitsvs |

First, I see a lot of comments about the pricing in the reviews. This is a independant restaurant on Omni property so you know they are paying high rent. Then you are next to a convention center in a city that offers two in hotel restaurants and four on property outside and that's it for about six long blocks. That being said - the crispy wontons made the meal for me! Sushi was rolled nicely with a balance of ingredients and not 10lbs of rice hiding something in the middle. Ingredients were fresh. Servers were nice, if a bit slow. In this I didn't see lazy servers, I saw untrained servers. Customer service does not come naturally to all and this entire strip of restaurants next to the hotel are all relatively new. It is a bit pricey, but like I said given the area and surrounding circumstances.....I would eat here again

Fabulous

By Mediconfyre |

Here for the TX EMS Conference this place was crazy good excellent service, 6 and left w huge full stomachs yum yum yum

Try the Miso Sea Bass

By Gr8TravelerTN |

We picked this last-minute for dinner the night we arrived in Dallas; it's located just across the street from the Omni (convenient). We had good sushi and enjoyed the wine list. There are TVs so we were able to watch the football games, and it was jazz night so there was live music; also good.

Great food

By cooper204 |

We tried the Little Katana Black Ship for the first time. We loved the stone bowl meals. We didn't try any sushi this time but it looked good.

Disappointing Food and High Prices

By WanderAndWallow |

We were lured in here by their happy hour sushi specials banner and while I have no doubt that the prices are good for a convention area, be aware that even at happy hour, the prices are high. Except for the featured cocktail which was delicious and strong. Most disappointing of all were the wings. It's hard to make a tasteless chicken wing but somehow they managed. If you must come here, stick with drinks and the jalapeño and vegetable sushi.

Laid back

By Kenny G |

For as many people that were in and around the Omni Hotel, this restaurant was not full. I am shocked it wasn't. The food was outstanding, the service was exceptional and the price was fairly reasonable. We had steak and a little sushi along with a few adult beverages and all were great and served timely. Friends arrived toward the end of our meal and sat in the bar area which is open to the restaurant. Noise is non existent. Would make a stop again when in the area.

Markiplier

By Bj F |

Good sushi. Good rolls$ 7 starts out, to$ 16 on rolls. 20 meals to $39. Nice place lots of tvs. Nice stem wear!

Stopped here for business - great food and prices!

By Michael M |

Stayed at the Hyatt Regency for a conference... unfortunately the conference doesn't provide all the food and I had to go elsewhere for dinner some nights. This place was a real gem for sushi - not overpriced (7-8 dollars for regular rolls, 10-14 for specialty rolls)... I've had better sushi but for this price point (especially in an expensive to eat area) you can't go wrong. Hoping to go back before conference is over!

Pleasant Surprise

By Sholana |

We had a great dinner at Little Katana. They do serve sushis but also steak and hot stone rice bowls. We were greeted very kindly and sat in the patio. At the bar , I wasn't sure about a sake , they gave us a free tasting sake to help us make our choice. They also had great wines. We do recommend this restaurant.

Yum! Yum!

By emily l |

Fresh and tasty sushi and noodles. Great selection. Wonderful service. Will be stopping here again soon.

Great food and service

By johnnyranger |

I stayed at the Omni hotel and stopped in for a quick bite at the sushi bar. Had the Katana 101 and it was really good. Fresh ingredients!

Sushi delight

By lakewind |

We sat at the sushi bar on a quiet evening enjoying a delicious and relaxing evening. The selection of sushi and rolls was quite good (though no toro) and all was fresh. Little Katana is located adjacent to the Omni on a little strip of varied restaurant options (German, Mexican, pizza, Asian). One of the better dining experiences I had in the area.

Great place for sushi

By Colleen B |

My husband and I like to come here when we are staying at the Omni. It is close, right across the street. They have a happy hour ! We like to sit at the bar and love their food.

Wow!!!

By Susan M |

I had the Angel Roll, calamari, and a moscow mule... I was a very happy camper. The roll (cucumber wrapped) was fantastic! So was the calamari. I was excited to find they served a moscow mule. They can be hard to find. Others in our group had the Bento Boxes, other types of rolls, and everyone was very satisfied.

Delightful Meal

By Sarah W |

Very friendly service and a delicious meal. Very impressed by the Rainbow Roll, and the peppers and bao were also lovely.

Could have been better--not good for "to go" meals

By Musician47 |

During a recent stay at the Omni Dallas hotel (right next door to the restaurant) I ordered a meal to go. I was extremely disappointed by what I received. The sushi came without wasabi or ginger. The lobster was not cooked correctly and the sushi was falling apart because the nori hadn't been rolled correctly on the roll. I also ordered a second sushi dish, and it came in a deconstructed fashion (it was listed as a sushi tower), which meant that the ingredients were just thrown in a to-go container--the crab, raw tuna, avocado, and rice. It was laziness on the part of the staff and disgusting to eat. I ended up throwing away the entire meal. If they'd told me when I ordered the tower that it couldn't be done as a to-go item, that would have been different, but it's inexcusable to just throw sushi ingredients in a to-go container and call that a sushi roll. Maybe the dine-in experience is better (according to a colleague who ate there during the same conference, it's not much better--service was slow and the management comped their drinks as a result), but I won't be going back.

Good food but long wait

By Ally H |

Went here for lunch. Seated quickly, ordered quickly but took a long time to get our tickets to cash out. Food was very good, and did special touches to make what they do have an original touch and yet still give you some entrees that you recognize from a Japanese restaurant. Was very pleased with our sushi order and our bento boxes. Also had an addition of salted edamame peas.

Nice food, good service

By Leslie J |

Food is adequate and pleasant, but nothing fabulous. Wine is not listed by notes and is hard to select. Did not try cocktails. Ordered dumplings and there were two sauces but they both seemed duck sauce based. Asked for something soy sauces based, so they brought soy sauce. Staff pleasant, interior has some nice nooks.

A Must Visit

By Camille I |

We were there for dinner when it opened, the server was A+, he recommended my dish, as it was my first time visit. My dish, trout, was incredible. My friends had the salmon, which they said was great, too, but I will come there whenever I'm in Dallas and have the trout! First Class food and service.

Very good

By sheritin |

Was staying at Omni. Ran across to grab some sushi and a ahi stack for lunch. DELICIOUS. A little pricy but the food was very good.

Good Asian Fusion

By Wandering6 |

Good Asian Fusion for a sushi fix in Dallas. Lots of options. Menu describes each roll. Helpful for diners that aren’t familiar with just names. We were here for a convention at the Omni across the street. We ate here several times with no reservation with clients and had no problem getting a table. Decent service, servers should be more friendly. Owner/manager was very friendly and helpful.

Love it, go almost every year

By mustafah122 |

Any time we are down for a convention we try to visit here. It is great sushi, and MOST of the staff is very nice and friendly. Only had a small issue one time, but can deinitely be over looked.

Good, reasonable, happy hour.

By NotYours |

I went here specially for their happy hour. (4p to 7p) They discount a number of suishi and hot dishes as well as a few drinks. I tried most all of their happy hour suishi and a couple of hot dishes. Cost for me was $37 and that included a couple of drinks. The wait staff was a little untrained but friendly. Non-happy hour pricing was a little on the expensive side.

A different take...

By TheTravelingProf |

This is not a traditional joint; it's very much into modern interpretations on pan-Asian classics. For example, the ahi tower is a deconstructed sushi roll without the nori that is presented as a stack and then mixed tableside. Very tasty! The stone bowl is a takeoff of Korean dishes but with another tableside presentation for adding the veggies.

Very good sushi but poor service and busy when convention in town

By timandkerry |

Attending a convention at Dallas Convention Center, there is a line of about 4 restaurants located across the street from the Omni Hotel which is connected to the Center. 2 of us went for lunch. When convention going on, this is a busy place and we waited in a line for about 20 minutes. Once seated, took a bit to get our order in. Although our server was fairly attentive, it took a long time to get our food and we observed many people getting their food in a timely manner and leaving while we were still waiting. We ordered only typical sushi items, nothing exotic, so not sure what the delay was to our table, but very slow. It took about an hour to have our lunch for sushi which is very long for this type of food. Sushi was good but knock it down at least one star for the poor, long service. Plan ahead if going when convention in town especially at lunch time.

Great Happy Hour + Food is to die for

By csands22 |

This restaurant is amazing- the service was amazing, the food was fast, the food was delicious too! I got the Hot Stone Bowl (which is basically fried rice that comes with these cool vegetables and spicy sauce and an egg in a hot bowl that slowly cooks it/ keeps it warm as you eat.) I always ask for chicken and teriyaki sauce in my bowl. The sushi is also really good. Everything is fresh, and they have a good happy hour for sushi and drinks. They had a temperature reader at the door and hand sanitizer readily available, so I felt very comfortable eating there even amidst the pandemic. The food was not inexpensive, but it was well worth the price. A great spot for lunch! You won't regret it. Lastly, the staff was so polite and kind. They really excelled at their jobs.

Very good sushi. Fresh and

By Jend420 |

Very good sushi. Fresh and interesting options. The yellowtail sashimi was particularly delicious. Melted in our mouths. The tower they mix at the table was a savory blend of textures and flavors. Service was a little off but we were having a leisurely lunch so it wasn’t a problem.

Yummy Surprise!

By Debbie S |

We stumbled onto this delicious place! The "bowl" meal was so good!!!! This was one of our favorite meals!!!! Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. The restaurant was clean and very nice! Great place!!!!

Love their bentos

By Jinsong H |

This place was packed on a Wednesday evening while the two restaurants next door were mostly empty. There was also a jazz band playing. Four of us all ordered bento boxes, grilled salmon, angus tenderloin and sushi and sashimi. We all enjoyed our bento boxes. Service was slow though because there were a lot of customers.

Filling meal!

By 10ringtraveler |

This style of food was a little out of my comfort zone but chose to try it anyway, while I didn't think it was outstanding, it was still a good and filling meal. I had the pork Ramen. They prepared it as requested, without mushrooms! It was tasty and filling. Desert was awesome, mango cheesecake. The dining are is very clean. The restaurant is very close to the Omni hotel and convention center. Making it very convenient for lunch or dinner. The highlight was our server super polite and friendly, definitely a people person and a great representative of the restaurant Like I said not my first choice for type of meal but recommend it for trial. Many people loved it!

Torotastic

By TheStateOfMe |

Dropped in for a quick lunch at the sushi bear and ended up ordering toro sashimi, spider roll and miso soup. The toro was pricey (mp=$45) but excellent, and the rest of the meal went down well with it.

A fairly new Japanese restaurant

By A C |

sushi and noodles, Tempura and Udon that will satisfy most. The noodles we're soft and not soggy. The freshest raw bar I have seen. And the master sushi maker knows his craft. Returned a second day to confirm the flavor and freshness. Yes, it is real.
