Roof top bar with band was fun, plenty of seating, met nice people

By Kristie H |

I was on business and by myself. As a female, I hardly ever have gone to a bars with bands alone. I walked over to 6th St. to purchase the traditional "Keep Austin Weird" T-shirts and saw the Blind Pig Pub. If you listen to Curtis Grimes, you will know the name of the Pub from his song, "Irresponsible." I had to go in and check it out and get a picture. It was surprisingly open, welcoming and, at least that evening, had a great southern rock band with people sitting listening to the music. I ended up meeting the wife of the bass player and later some other business travelers joined our table. Made new friends, had a great time and would recommend for a night of al fresco casual music on 6th Street. Most of the crowd that night ranged from 30s-40s, so it wasn't the college scene.

Enjoyed it

Nice, spacious rooftop bar. Not too crowded on a Monday night. Excellent band. What more can you ask for.

Fun Bar Cheap Drinks

By Valerie C |

Fun bar on 6th street. It has a great rooftop where they usually have live music at nights. The staff is very friendly. Blake the bartender was super nice to my girlfriend and I when visiting!

Great spot to try local draft beer

By Meritage101 |

We got in town on a Friday afternoon in January and most places on 6th Street in Downtown Austin do not open until after 2pm. Blind Pig offers Happy Hour daily from 3pm-8pm. It was freezing cold outside so we sat in the downstairs inside bar where they had the heat cranking and did not venture up to the rooftop deck. They offered 15 local beers on tap. Blake was our bartender who was very personable and did a fabulous job. He was very knowledgeable of all of the draft beers they had to offer and even let us try a few and helped us make a decision. Blake made us feel right at home. They do have live music but assuming this starts later in the night. Hope to try this place again when the weather is warmer so we can check out the rooftop bar.

Open Dance Floor

By Lauren Woolstenhulme |

Pretty good drinks, open dance floor and good music! This was a fun one! We stopped here for a few drinks.

Great for Game Day

By Andrew B |

Kept coming back to this bar while in town for the LSU vs. Texas game. The upstairs bar was shaded and open. Great time

Great spot for a drink!

By J2826JH |

We stopped for a drink during the afternoon on a Friday and enjoyed our time spent there. We sat upstairs, there is plenty of seating with live music and several TVs!

This is a place to unwind and shake off the day.

By David E |

If you like a welcoming vibe with a relaxing drink, this is a great spot. The music was awesome, and it was a great place to dance in the bar. Imagine me and my girlfriend dancing to an acoustic guitar, each with our Long Island Ice Teas ... then jamming in the photo booth for a pic. It's almost like a bar you'd find on New Orlean's Bourbon Street.

Hoppin'

By Shealin |

This place was a younger and fun crowd, strong drinks, LOUD live music, and right on a street with a ton of other places to hit after or before.

Interesting Spot

By Garry M |

G00d spot for a drink in a lively atmosphere. Recommend trying it out while out on the 6th Street Strip.

Always a great time at the Blind Pig.

By Tony L |

Great music and atmosphere on the patio. Thanks for always hooking up this Pac 12 nerd and putting my game on when I'm in town. See you all soon again.

Good live music

By maxpaste |

We had a short visit here and enjoyed a drink and some music. It has a good vibe. Their draft list is solid and they have some local whiskies as well.

Awesome roof top

By Ava |

Great bar with several stories. The roof top is awesome and you can play games there (bean bags, jenga). They serve decent priced beers and cider. Good music, lots of space. Good ambiance.

Rooftop bar

By John C |

We saw a band called Public Disorder here, wow, what a great atmosphere. Ice cold beer at a great price, great band, the rain stayed away, loads of people just having a great time. No cover charge, so make sure you tip if the band is good.

Cool spot

By Danny T |

Even tho there was a little construction out on top, it was still a great place to have a cold beer and look down at 6th street

Rooftop bar with live music

By SCM-FL |

The blind pig pub is a great bar. They have a huge rooftop patio and almost every night, a band is playing. The beer selection is good and actually, the prices are quite cheap. We will come back.

Out of everything

By Decemberborn |

We went here because no one at Maggie Mae's was interested in our business and this was practically next door. We walked in & were immediately greeted, found out it was happy hour. I got a drink that was quite potent for me (yes I am a lightweight) but that didn't stop me from getting another. Husband wanted a beer and they were out of just about every beer on tap. Bartender kept apologizing because they kept running out of everything. There was a 2 man band playing while we were there, for the most part it was ok except when he started screaming on a song. As the hour wore on it appeared that this was going to be a place for the college kids.

Very kewl

By Criz66 |

Really kewl place...multi levels of drinking fun. Saw a band play upstairs and they were really good and the place was packed!! The drinks were reasonable, but my gf said the bathrooms were nasty...so beware. Other than that...great time!!!

Great Happy Hour!

By Ziasymbol |

Visited this place for the Pecan Festival and they had a great atmosphere, live music and great wait staff.

Really enjoyed this music venue

By c n |

We went here on two occasions during our week in late May. We enjoyed that there were two music venues and both had good music. I actually liked the downstairs music better. The drinks are nothing special but the bartenders and staff were really nice. I liked being upstairs and outdoors as well.

Meh….

By sharrongeg |

Thought this was a pub, so stopped in for lunch. Zero food available. On our way back to our hotel, about 6 pm, thought we would try again. Mistake. Sadly only cocktails or beers on draft…and only a few from Austin. I tried a cocktail and no, just no. Hubby had a single beer, and said it was OK. At 6 pm, the live music fellow was friendly and polite…but no. Just no. Tourist place with zero local flavor.

Drinks at the bar

By SimeyTravels |

Why did we choose Blind Pig? a) they were one of the only spots that night already featuring a live performer (in this instance, a solo guitar player/singer); and 2) their AC was on and very inviting. We sat at the bar and chatted up the very distracted bartender. He took the time to chat with us about beer - mostly to give my friend an overview of the types they had, and what he'd suggest for her tastes. We then got into a friendly debate about Stouts and IPAs, which I'm sure took him by surprise. We ordered a couple of drinks and opened a tab; I handed over my card to keep that tab open. The guitarist was good, even though he was playing to a mostly empty bar. My friend and I did appreciate his talent, and that he covered some of the songs that were the soundtrack to our lives. At one point, he had a friend - and I think, former band mate - join him at the mic for a song or two (that's when I remembered to take pictures.) We were there for maybe 90 minutes, trying out many of their local brews and enjoying the music. We left when the crowd started to turn a bit more...young...and when we realized we were hungry. The bartender we'd interacted with had left by then, so I called over the girl who'd come in for that shift, and asked her to close out my tab. She gave me the bill, had me sign, then turned around and walked to the other side of the bar. I flagged her again, telling her she still had my card. She nodded, went to the other side of the bar, and stood there. I had to get up and ask her again to give my card back to me. Not. Cool.

Great place with upstairs that overlooks 6th street

By Nurserea |

Great place to go and hang out with a group of friends. Really fun atmosphere upstairs with lots of room for dancing and mingling. Can overlook 6th street from the balcony. The upstairs bartender Maine was awesome!!!!!

Great roofdeck for live music

By CutterInChicago |

Caught the Bandits on the roofdeck - really enjoyed my experience at this bar. Seems to represent the Austin live music scene quite well.

Live music and cold beer

By neilmG4776VW |

Great bar with different levels. Live music cold beer and great atmosphere. Different music in the bar and on the up stars patio. Good for people watching and general merriment. Decent prices and decent live music.

Fun Bar with Live Music

By Tony H |

Busy buzzing vibe. Great with friends. Live country music, cozy atmosphere. We were on a stage weekend and just what the doctor ordered. We snag and danced around, whooping and a cheering. People were mixing and having a great time. Great nightlife spot to let your hair down. THIS IS WHAT AUSTIN NIGHT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT!

6th Street 👍

By Dude Man |

Came here during a 6th Street bar crawl. They had the NFL playoff game on the TV so I was pumped. I only had drinks here so do not know about the food situation. The beer was pretty good! It was easy to get a beer which was nice!

one of the best places at 6th street

By peter w |

bar tenders are very friendly and upstairs plays a live band almost every night. Nice outdoor seating and the place is clean!

Good pub - music on rooftop patio

By SweePug |

Stopped by on a trip to Austin last month. Had a drink in the afternoon sun on the roof patio and returned in the evening after dinner a watched a band. Good pub, but service wasn't great - the barman was more concerned with chatting up women at the end of the bar.

Live entertainment and cold beer

By Donnap64 |

Great time enjoying the live entertainment up on the open air seating area. Wasn’t crowded in the middle of the week. Only downside is there are no wait staff so have to stand in line for a drink.

Fun place

By blanquita79 |

This was a fun place to hang out, with live music. We were on the rooftop, which was even better! Good location on 6th street.

Just great

By TheRealJimLepien |

If you like pork done a ton of different ways, this is your joint Great atmosphere, great food. Highly recoomended

Definitely worth a stop when in Austin!

By ashbris |

We stopped in here a couple of times for drinks and to watch football. There was never really a crowd but still a good atmosphere. The bartenders were great upstairs and downstairs.

Nice live music on the rooftop

By ilovehippopotamus |

Visited here for some drinks it was a great location right on 6th with a band playing on the roof top, plenty of bars and a good mix of people. Recommend for a drink and view down 6th.

Great place for a drink

By 950Pete |

We stopped by here just for a drink on a hot afternoon when we just needed to chill a bit. The bartender was very friendly and talkative. He tried to convince me to have another kind of drink from what I was having and mixed up a small sampler so I could try it, which was really nice. Never had that before. I have had beer samples but not mixed drink samples. We went upstairs to the rooftop patio just to try it out and apparently it has the largest one on 6th Street; however there are not many seats along the side where you can actually see what is going on down on the street. You can buy their t-shirts at a souvenir shop down the street but not at the bar itself. Weird.

A great music venue

By Aubie1989 |

This place is a lot of fun and the rooftop bar and stage are amazing. Great views of the city, great music, and a fun place to hang out and people watch.

Great Location - Good Craft Beer Selection

By Rick U |

Blind Pig is right in the middle of everything 6th Street Austin. When the live music is on the first floor, you cannot hear yourself think. Too loud! The bar tender can't hear your order either. The second floor balcony is great and spacious, but service up there is spotty. There are better bars in this area.

Good fun bar

By Adam P |

On the main drag, with an open outside area where they also have live music. Good beer selection and friendly staff.

Great beer

By TalktoPG |

Lovely dive bar experience, there as a guitar singer on who strummed out some great country classics. Plenty of different craft beers to try, screens of American football and music, relaxing and chilled with an open rooftop for other bands that play

Smelly pig...

By Craig R |

This place smells..I know I'm a smoker but their back room where you have to go to have a smoke is full of trash bins..that stink the place out..time to put down some bleach I think..So my advice go over the road to shakespears pub..a hell of a lot nicer..

A nice time with no strings attached

By 502ericaf |

Located om 6th street this is the place to be during the day before those mosquitos come for you and you alcohol infused blood. They have a Super cool roof garden, a lot of fun games all around, free and paid ones. We came up as the rooftop gaden had some great jams happening and some cool vibes. The Live music had all the people dancing and having a great time as the tones were super fun and well chosen the selection was very eclectic for any and all musical tastes. The drinks are well made and the price is super ok. We had a great time and I will definetly come back. I am all for keeping austin weird this place made me a believer. There was no cover charge to come in when we came here and that is definetly a plus. I didn't have a chance to see if they served food as I was super busy enjoying the great music and drinks, but you come by here let me know what your experience was.

A Definite Must Stop

By JeffB32 |

Wife and I stopped here on our own little dive bar tour of Dirty 6. Great mix of sports, music and open air upstairs. Beers were ice cold. Friendly bartenders as well. A definite must stop.

Great music. Not super-crowded

By Scott B |

We really enjoyed going upstairs at the blind pig and hearing some great bands! The bar is really big, so it doesn’t feel as crowded as some of the other bars on 6th street. (Caution: 6th street is getting even sketchier these days). The drinks were too expensive. $7 for a very small cup of beer.

Best of 6th Street

By darbs7 |

Right in the heart of 6th Street's music scene. Head straight upstairs to the rooftop bar. Live music is perfect and there are several bars to get your drinks, drafts are $5 a piece.

Great dancing and fun

By WinecountryMartha |

Often two music options, upstairs and down, plus corn hole and other games. Had a couple of great nights dancing there, spicy enough crowd to provide some color.

Fun place to stop

By AMY W |

They actually have several different bars here at this location. Downstairs was a quiet bar, no live music, upstairs was a live band, and they had fun games to play. They had a very large connect four game (actually two) those were really fun to play. Skee ball, maybe pop-a shot, a few fun games like that upstairs also. They have another bar downstairs with live music. We saw a guy - I don't remember his name but he has a whole list of songs you can request and he's good. So we ended up spending most of our time in that bar. The music was fun and there is probably something for just about anyone in this huge place with so many atmosphere choices. We were here on a VERY cold night for Austin, but up at the top bar they had it kind of tented off, so it wasn't open air and freezing.

Last minute birthday bar

By Laura M |

While we did a road trip, we stopped & stayed one night in Austin (on my 52nd birthday) & wanted to hear music & enjoy the evening. So sister & I found a great band playing as we walked past & stayed for the show. Good Jack & coke (drinks) & my sister got to two-step with a great guy! Had a very good time!

Austin

By TaylorAdamsZoo |

Great place .. Love the 2 stories upstairs has lots if games and good street frontage for people watching.. So happy we came in:)

Nice Music Venue with Good view of 6th St from the balcony.

By Tim D |

Big bar with 2 levels. Downstairs had a single singer / guitar player with live music upstatirs. Drink prices were a little high, but not too bad. Lots of space with tables to watch the band. They take up the tables and chairs around 11 pm for a DJ and dance floor. They will literally ask you to stand up to take your chair, whcih I thought a little odd. The band was great one night and terrible the next, so you will have to see who is playing when you are in Austin.

Don’t miss this place for music and fun

By jackatie |

Right in the heart of Austin’s music ground zero! Great music both downstairs and more so upstairs to a huge open air rooftop bar with a large stage. It’s worth the stop .

Great time with friends!

By KPoego |

There were a group of about 30 of us that came two nights in a row and stayed until the place closed. So much fun dancing on the patio upstairs.

Rooftop Excellence!

By haveyouben |

If you're on "Dirty" 6th Street, you're likely looking to drink, a lot. If you're not looking to drink a lot, go home, this isn't the place for you. A fantastic rooftop area, with great viewing of the cityscape, as well as the drunks below. Plenty of arcade games, and giant Jenga to keep your competitive juices excited. Fairly cheap drinks, but certainly not the cheapest on 6th.

Bit of a dive but good people

By Sas B |

Ok so the roof leaks and there were a few buckets and such around the lower level to catch water when I popped in. In all fairness there was a massive storm hours prior. The bartender Josh was brilliant and the music good.

WV thanks you

By Tennislvr17 |

Thank you for hosting all of the WVU fans. I am sure that you were tired of hearing Sweet Caroline and Country Roads. Everyone had fun.

Great place for live music!

By vwdiver512 |

This is one of my favorite local bars for live music, because their music venue is upstairs on the roof. Very casual atmosphere, and great margaritas from friendly bartenders. Having the music venue outside definitely makes it more enjoyable if the band wants to get loud, it doesn't hurt your ears like it would in an enclosed space. Saw some great performance flair from a few of their bartenders as well. Highly recommend.

Awesome live music!

By Ladyfrances25 |

Definitely recommend visiting Blind Pig Pub on your next trip to Austin! We visited at night and had a great time enjoying beverages on the roof deck while dancing and listening to a live music cover band and a DJ. The patrons at other roof decks on the street were leaning over trying to get in on the action that was happening at the Blind Pig Pub!

Had a Great Rooftop Experience

By ckh009 |

We were looking for a Sixth Street rooftop experience and Blind Pig did the job. We had a blast playing the giant Jenga game. The bad playing that night (a weekday) was really good.

Great rooftop bar with live music

By Yossi Z |

Great rooftop bar with live music, can even smoke cigars and enjoy awesome music !!!! Recommended aaaaasassaaasss

Blind Pig Rocks It.

By Marman101 |

Friendly staff...great view and atmosphere. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome since were wearing out of state shirts for the football game. Cold beer and great view.

Love the rooftop!

By julu74 |

Great seating and live music at the roof top bar. Views of the street, city, and other bars in the area make it even more enjoyable.

Fun place to hear music

By Joe M |

Stopped in because i heard the live music, Good drinks and good music. Its right now 6th street, easy walk from your hotel to 6th. Lots of great music.

Dirty Loud and Fun!!

By Alisha F |

If you want the dirty load Austin experience stop in here and enjoy, lots of drunk load people on the roof dancing, larger venue with cheap drinks and lots to do. fun games - read Jenga with 2x4's - and other stuff to do as well. would recommend as a stop on your Austin excursion. no fancy cocktails for 40 bucks a pop here, have a beer and enjoy.

Good pub with live music

By unknownK8 |

Worth a visit on 6th street - friendly bar staff & good service. Great choice of drinks & has a rooftop bar area too which gives good views of 6th street. Live music most days too

Had a few hours to kill Place was Awesome

By Richard C |

Live music 4-7 and with little time to kill was flat out awesome! Friendly bartender and drinks were good and cheap Rooftop bar is awesome and regret not able to see the action at night !

Typical Austin dive-bar

By Christopher R |

Not a bad place- rooftop patio. Like most of the other divey bars in the area. Live music most of the time.

Huge place with multiple bars and.live music. Upstairs overlooks 6th Street. Great place to hang out and have drinks.

Afternoon delight

By Cambria5 |

MY brother in law and I stopped in here for a beer during an afternoon walk. We stayed for several. They had a nice beer selection, a warm atmosphere and we loved the afternoon music. It was a very pleasant afternoon stop for oldsters. And a shout out to Bernice, our very nice and attentive bartender.

Our first evening in Austin

By Ames30-2016 |

Arrived at Austin & wanted to explore 6th street...we saw that the blind pig had a live band playing upstairs & we went to take a look. Was a brilliant evening, friendly staff, great atmosphere, great music, we really enjoyed ourselves! We sat upstairs by the balcony, was so nice, relaxing & enjoyable. 10/10 from us, highly recommend

It's alright but don't get the hype

By Mark M |

They have live music downstairs and a decent rooftop area but it really wasn't anything special. The whole place is pretty dirty and run down, and the rooftop area needs more TVs. And there is no food available at all.

Fun Fun Fun!

By ddzKC |

Friendly local bar with great roof top views and live music upstairs and down. Roof top bar had a great vibe. Bartenders and servers were very friendly and quick. Great stop on 6th.

Classic city bar

By Pat M |

It's just a bar--no menu, nothing fancy, but the service and margaritas were very good. The bartender, originally from outside Chicago, was engaging and informative. On a pub crawl, it's worth a stop.

Fin with Live Music

By tmcox09 |

This is a bar that has an outdoor area upstairs where live music happens. They offer a wide variety of beverage options, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Cold cocktails, warm days, awesome music...couldn't ask for more!

Chill

By DDFRANCOS |

We came and were offered free beer. Awesome! My husband and buddy loved it. Loved the outdoor patio top. Workers are all friendly and good conversation.

Awesome drinks and dancing.

By Mary G |

This place has a cool layout and usually a great DJ and dancing. The drinks are good. I would go back here.

Always enjoy Joe Vega!

By Robin B |

We walked into this bar because the name caught our interest, then found out that Joe Vega was entertaining. Spent the entire evening in this bar....lots of fun, good service, cold beer!

Drinks With Friends

By wheatonnitz |

My coworkers and I stopped in to grab a cocktail on the way to a company dinner, but were not able to get a mixed drink. The bar served cans, bottles, or liquor neat or on the rocks, at that time. Not a great experience, but the place was pretty nice and may be better at a later time. We moved on to another place after our drinks were done.

It’s a Austin Vibe

By Maeve Greenaway |

Had so much fun at the Blind Pig Pub. It was our first night in Austin and we were told to check out 6th street. With so many venues, the blind big really stood out from open roof top to the live band. I even bumped into some friends from Florida!!

Dirty 6th st go!

By trip_ayuna |

Most of the actions on the rooftop, smoking is allowed, live music venue in the evening, and then dancing after performance. Beer is smh around $4-5, so it's nice pub to share drinks with friends

Great place for Live Music

By David S |

Loved this bar. Great live music upstairs and outdoors. You must check this place out. Loved listening to music at night outdoors drinking and people watching the street below.

Its all about the band, mostly

By Glen M |

To be fair this spot does have an awesome roof top patio. And Fair priced beer etc. But let's be honest, it's the band and the people there that ultimately define a pub. This place did well on the Tuesday we were there!

Big Big open bar with Live music

By Indah Edlightz |

Lots of the bars along 6 street have live music and offer inexpensive beer, the Blind Pig pub is a bit different... first off is very very big compared to other places, the upstairs is huge with lots of things to do.. live band always playing, there are plenty tables, long bar, second stage at the back, and some games as well. The upstairs is open to the outside so there is lots of fresh air. Downstairs bar is typical to the rest on the street. Anything besides beer is very very expensive. Staff is friendly and place is a lot of fun. The band that was playing when we were there was a bit slow and kind of bland but live music is live music.

This pub is a must visit!

By Rum connoisseur 76’ |

The Blind Pig Pub is a great bar and music venue on 6th Street in Austin! This place hosts great live music, strong drinks, cool atmosphere with a “come as you are” vibe. This place is definitely a keeper! Highly recommend...will swing through when ever I’m in Austin!!

Flashback to college

By Bernard T |

Great college bar with good draft selection and good music. Different levels with different music. A little grungy and loud as the night went on.

Roof top delight!

By cececolette |

Traveled to Austin with my husband for some fun and was attracted to this bar because of the roof top deck. We arrived before the band started, got a sweet seat, had some great drinks and waited for the music. Perfect spot to listen to music and enjoy the great outdoors!

Cool place for pics and a beer

By shell2008 |

Good for a bar hop. Thursday night people don’t go out till 9pm. They close the street so it’s just pedestrians. Cool environment . No food here, but can bring in pizza by the slice or food from food trucks.

Cool spot

By gerryd555 |

We've been here a couple of times and always enjoy it. Low-key, fun bar atmosphere. Has an upstairs area overlooking the street and a downstairs bar area. Usually some pretty good live music happening inside. Really fun stop on 6th street.

Fun!

By tr21 |

What an incredible concept, love his place. It seems to have different levels depending on your mood. Downstairs offered an acoustic singer, then head through the bar with more action. Walk up the stairs and you have a full blown killer party. Open roof makes it better and not so cramps. Band was awesome, libations cheap, and was just an all around amazing and fun place to be.

Friday Night Fun

By Texastech1980 |

Second visit to the Blind Pig, and I will be going back. Decent priced drinks, good music to dance to, and an upstairs open patio setting. The only thing I wish they would work on is the restrooms. Not very clean, and the toilet is broken on top so they put a clear plastic cover on it!?

Bucket List SXSW

By TimeToTravel |

Great atmosphere, live music and great crowd. Go upstairs, grab a drink or a beer and enjoy the bands playing a couple of sets each.

College Like Bar on dirty six street.

By SkateGirl314 |

Typical bar on sixth street. Has a rooftop but in June it was too hot to be outside. Would be a good place to watch sports since they had a projector and many TVs.

Rooftop bar

By Apanda8 |

Dirty 6th how I loathe and like you all at the same time. I have been to the Blind Pig Pub many times throughout my bar crawls of 6th. It's a solid place to stop for a drink. I enjoy the rooftop bar the most since you can view the street while listening to live music and a drink or two. Note, the Blind Pig Pub had even made an appearance on TOSH 2.0. How cool is that? An infamous bar!! So now you have to check it out.

Great band, more room on roof

By dolittledigger |

Bar hopped with hubby and stopped in to catch a few songs on the roof. Lots of room. Not sure how this place is after 11pm

Live Music

By Munah |

The night I went to Blind Pig was just what I needed to experience 6th street! The rooftop deck with amazing views of the Austin skyline is perfection. The deck has a huge TV upstairs and arcade games. Even though it was a Monday night, it was lively! They had a band playing and their energy was captivating. This place is a must when you’re in town!
