Brunch with LA style

By MFW53 |

Cool arcade venue that gave us shelter from the rain but I can also imagine it being great respite from summer heat. We are “outside” which helped it to feel more spacious despite the tables being crammed in. It was extremely busy on the Sunday morning we were there with an extensive waitlist, however as we were a party of 2 we were seated immediately- totally worth asking! The water brought to the table was well presented in a sealed tall jar with lemon and mint and that really set the tone for the whole meal. All menus items were cooked to order and sooooo fresh and tasty. Also good coffee (I am an americano fan!) and friendly staff. I will definitely be back

Great breakfast location

By Dan R |

Great location for breakfast with a wide choice of healthy options and more standard breakfast and lunch options. Very busy -- especially on the weekends, but the food is so good. Been here many times...highly recommended.

My Daughter Knows All the Best Places

By Colin F |

We came here for a treat after cleaning out her place and hauling it back to Toronto. The food is good but not great, but you know what rocks about this place? The staff and the atmosphere. They were fast, they were nice, they were genuine. And, it's a classic place. There you go, that's my review, and yes, my daughter the actress always knows the best places. Thanks Blu Jam, you're amazing!!!

What a first LA breakfast to have!

By ashleyh26687 |

I did a little research for our West Coast trip and knew fairly early on I wanted Blu Jam Cafe to be our first breakfast, what a decision! Proper coffee, that's a win to start with. The eggs Benedict was delicious, doubley so as it is a Benedict with both ham & bacon. It was the french toast that stole the show though, absolutely amazing, seriously if you come here it is just a must have, it just is. The service was personal and great. We have 4 days left here, it's a 35 minute drive from our apartment and I very much doubt it'll only be the one visit we have here before we leave LA.

Always Like Stopping Here

By BHS85 |

The orange juice is fresh and stellar. The atmosphere is busy and it is crowded when busy, but the food and menu make up for that. Outside seating is available. Service is excellent and the facilities clean. An excellent variety and the food is well prepared and delicious. I come here pretty much every time I am in town.

Great service, food was lacking!

By Dsken |

Found this place as number one on google to have brunch. When we got here we were met by very helpful and friendly staff. We were advised by our waiter on what to try. I went for a Mexican / egg dish with homemade nachos. It was not worth $15 dollars, tasty yes but a ridiculous price for the size and lack of salad on the side to complement the flavours. My wife had an egg Benedict, once again was just over the $14 dollar mark! That's $7 dollars each for an egg Mc muffin with some hollandaise! The egg white wasn't cooked on one egg which was unpleasant. Two juices 300ml each = $10 Nice location, busy restaurant, not worth the price for the size and quality. I wouldn't recommend if your here in LA for a visit.

Great breakfast spot!

By FairDivorce |

Great breakfast spot, not to be missed. Food is amazing and portions are large. The corn flake crusted brioche French toast is not to be missed!

Fantabulous brunch option

By SoloCrossfitter |

We visited LA for the first time and travelled north to meet a friend in Sherman Oaks. We wanted a local favorite for brunch, and our native friend said that Blue Jam was "not to be missed" but "we would have to wait in line." We did wait in line on a Sunday morning for about 30 minutes, but the food was worth it. Blue Jam is known for its crunchy French toast, which was delicious. (So was the Hangover Scramble and Lox Bagel!) Blue Jam was a fantastic choice to eat at a local chain for an outdoor patio breakfast!

Excellent options for gluten free, dairy free and egg free breakfasts

By fishbellier |

I had the SPICY TEX MEX TOFU HASH (V, GF) (Tofu scrambled with black beans, onion, chipotle, cilantro, grilled potatoes, tomatoes, salsa fresca, and avocado, served with GMO free corn tortillas). It was excellent. Service was excellent too. I had no complaints!

Great food and wonderful service

By Angelidecovolo |

The Blu Jam is a local favorite and parking is limited, so get there early. Although the receptionist gets a two in my opinion, our waitress more than made up for that low score and deserves a five. The blu jam benedict were out of the world and the blueberry pancake to die for. The Blu Jam will not disappoint. !

Such great food!

By kjgardeski |

Visited on a Saturday about 10 am and had a twenty minute wait to be seated - pretty normal according to my daughter and her friends. The waiters were very attentive and knowledgeable. Menu had many Gluten free or gluten free possible dishes. There were breakfast and brunch selections at that time, but they serve lunch entrees after 11 am. My gluten free rice carbonara was absolutely delicious and everyone at the table was pleased with what they ordered. Medium price range and good quantities of food for the price.

Great!

By N3924PIcindys |

I came in with a friend on a Tuesday morning. It was fairly busy, but we were seated right away. This place must be crazy on weekends. We had to have the Crunchy French Toast. It was so good. Crunch. Great flavor. Berries were fresh and gorgeous. I had the Norwegian Eggs Benny (salmon). It was really good. My friend had the Breakfast Quesadilla and enjoyed it very much! I really like the way they prepare their potatoes. They are crisp and tasty!

Best Breakfast Ever

By Jessica A |

This place, hands down, is the best breakfast I've ever had. The crunchy French toast had a wonderful vanilla bean sauce and mixed with the berries atop, was heaven!! My boyfriend had the eggs Benedict which was by far, the best I've ever had. Be prepared to wait. We waited probably a good hour but was for sure worth it!

terrible service ruins the experience

By Aquaks |

so the juices were good and the french toast was a fun french toast treat, but the service was TERRIBLE. suck a RUDE waiter. we arrived around 11:30a during the week. the waiter was rude, took his time, tried to rush us out by taking our waters and asking if we were waiting for someone or something else after we had signed the bill. we literally waited 15min just to get waters. don't know what his problem was but it ruined the experience and the food wasn't special enough or anything special enough for us to ever come back. get better service!

Awesome. Simply Awesome.

By Danny C |

On a recent trip to LA, I stopped here with my girlfriend and her aunt. It was packed, but well worth it, wow! Great Coffee, great french toast, great breakfast burrito. I had the Chilaquiles; it was the first time I had ever had this dish. It was extremely good and filling; I couldn't finish it. I would absolutely come back to try something different! Go here.

Great French toast

By Xan W |

We stopped here for a coffee and decided to share a French toast. It was more than enough for two, delicious and served swiftly. The iced latte was lovely too and looking at other diners, their food appeared to be really nice too. Very friendly and efficient staff. Overall a very good experience.

Best Brunch

By Bryant H |

I don't recall every having a more satisfyingly delectable brunch as I did this morning at Blu Jam Cafe in Sherman Oaks. I ordered the Brunch Carbonara and shared the Crunchy French Toast; both were superb. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone living in or visiting LA. I can't wait to return.

Terrific food

By j c |

Had the Maui French Toast and the Steak Hash. The french toast was awesome!!! Parking is limited so you might have to walk.

Good Food BUT

By Jon Simmons |

The service here is slow. There is no refill on soda and they give you an 8 oz. Bottle. Ugh. While the food is good it should not take so long. The servers are not overly nice and not quick. They are not warm, that says it better. But it is slow. Also they had a Salmon dish they stopped serving, not cool.

Great brunch

By Insalata17 |

Four of us had a great brunch here - loved the wealth of options to choose from. Three out of four have various food issues but had no problem finding dairy- free, gluten-free, and nut-free choices and many of them. This is a very popular place and we were glad to find a table and parking.

No refills for regular coffee?!?!?

By Lawrence K |

Blue Jam epitomizes all that’s right and wrong with dining in Los Angeles. The food is fresh and well prepared. But a few quirks show the future of dining out that I'm not a fan of. I went with a friend. He had a beautiful omelet that he enjoyed and I had the yogurt with granola and fresh berries. I also ordered a café americano (i.e. regular coffee). When I asked a waiter for a refill, I was told, “We don’t offer free refills.” This may be a generational expectation. But at $4.50 for a coffee, that is in a word absurd, particularly when I was asked to tip when I order the food.

Blu Jam is Jamming Good

By Bobbjac |

Ventura Blvd is loaded with great restaurants. One of those great restaurants is Blu Jam Cafe (http://www.blujamcafe.com/). Blu Jam has three locations and the location of the restaurant that I am reviewing is Sherman Oaks, CA (Ventura Blvd). Blu Jam is 4-5 short city blocks down from the Sherman Oaks Galleria. If you are shopping or seeing a movie at the galleria, I suggest you walk down to Blu Jam. Blu Jam Cafe has really good food and great portions. I have been to Blu Jam twice in the last week. I had lunch my first visit and breakfast my second visit. For lunch I had the EL PASO sandwich. The sandwich is made with pulled spicy chicken, minced jalapeños, braised onions, cilantro, sliced tomatoes, smashed avocado, chipotle aioli and pepperjack cheese on a grilled ciabatta. The chicken was tender and juicy! The sandwich was like an angel made it for people on earth to eat. One thing to know, the sandwich is messy, so avoid wearing white and ask for lots of napkins. For breakfast I had pancakes and my girlfriend had their signature CRUNCHY FRENCH TOAST which is stellar. The pancakes were you traditional pancakes and they were tasty. My girlfriend's crunchy french toast is made with egg brioche dipped in batter, rolled in crunchy corn flakes and grilled to perfection, topped with fresh berries, served with powdered sugar and vanilla bean sauce. The portion is eight slices of bread (triangle slices), so make sure you are hungry. Even if you are not starving, order this dish. Blu Jam has side patio and sidewalk patio seating. We sat in the sidewalk patio section and enjoyed the breeze. You will get some street traffic noise if you sit in the sidewalk section. Overall Blu Jam is fantastic place with great food with good prices.

Nice Find!

By dag |

Restaurant was recommended by my hotel staff. Enjoyed lunch so much, returned for brunch next day. Great neighborhood find, didn't mind the half hour wait. Innovative menu, great food. Would definitely return.

Great breakfast.

By Greg I |

Great food! We had breakfast and the menu is very diverse. Many original dishes. We highly recommend this cafe. Come check it out.

Nice cosy easy cafe

By Lim EV |

Not bad for breakfast. Get crowded and expect a line if you come later than 10am on weekends. Food is alright, selection plenty. Caters for vegan and gluten-free diners.

Best Breakfast in LA Area

By Linda B |

The food here is fantastic! Finally tried the signature French toast, and found it worth the fanfare. Crunchy texture combined with delicious flavor! Have had both breakfast and lunch items and never been disappointed. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out.

Yummy

By MEG |

This blu jam cafe In sawtelle was really Delicious, portion sizes are big & did not disappoint. The chai tea that I got was one of the best ones that I have ever tasted at a restaurant. Also if you go there the crunchy French toast are everything.

Wonderful brekkie!

By Cat |

Just as good as the reviews suggest! Friendly staff, quite good prices and very tasty food! Would definitely go again!

Yum!

By saphireblack |

There are so many interesting things on menu you will have tough time deciding! Everyone was amazing!! We had the breakfast carbonara, crunchy French toast, turkey sandwich (son said best pesto ever) and Benedict. This is a must!

Signature French toast

By lauralouisap |

One of the exciting thing about staying in LA was choosing a different place to brunch every morning, of course Blu Jam was on my list. How could I not order the signature French toast after seeing photos of it!? The crunchy texture with the sweetness of the berries was just a delight, best French toast ever! I also got the poached eggs with bacon and potatoes. I’m not normally one to be bothered about potatoes with breakfast, but these ones are gorgeous, so flavoursome, I could have eaten platefuls! Also the waitress who served us was absolutely lovely, perfect person to have greeting people at the door too!

Breakfast

By Danny B |

The best hidden breakfast place. Everything is home made. So fresh and amazing. Have to try the Carbonaro breakfast and the country French toast. And you have to get a order of the French press coffee for the table

Great breakfast !

By whosane9 |

We live in Tarzana and we visited the Blue Jam Cafe for the first time yesterday and we loved it. I had the Italian breakfast and that was fantastic !We went there again today!!! And I ordered the Italian breakfast again. My wife had the florentine Benedict that she liked. The cappuccino was ok, not great. The best breakfast joint in town and only 3 mins away from home 10 stars.

Beautiful Breakfast

By Pete G |

Great breakfast menu, fresh juice. Plenty of metered parking in-front/close by. Would recommend and will visit again next time we’re in LA.

Best breakfast ever !

By Akira59 |

The place to be in LA ! Best breakfast I've ever had ! I went there 3 times, foods were so good. You must try the Crunchy French Toast.

So so good!

By LLZups |

Oh my gosh. Cool spot. Fantastic food!!! Nice vibe. Great service. Win win win!! Go go go!! There are other locations too. I went to the one in Tarzana.

Environmental Disastrous/Littering HSP Male Workers at Blu Jam Cafe

By Larry B |

This is directly behind Blu Jam Cafe Woodland Hills, CA. The Hispanic male kitchen workers are responsible for this environmental disaster. Do NOT EAT THERE UNTIL THEY ARE MADE TO CLEAN UP THEIR LITERAL MESS.

Great food, local neighborhood friendly!

By 2xVet |

My wife and I found Blu Jam Cafe here on TripAdvisor and we were very glad we did! The wait staff was friendly and the food (we did lunch) was really as good as the reviews! In fact, we are going to come back for breakfast! That says it all!!

Just ok= Blu Jam,West Hollywood location

By JoyaAnna |

Went here after reading all the trip advisor reviews...went to West Hollywood location on a FRI. before we were going to visit some vintage/recycled stores. All three of us thought this place was "fine", "ok" etc. but nothing spectacular. We all got very different dishes (egg scramble, mexican tofu hash, fresh OJ, coffee drinks and quinoa/fruit bowl) but nothing really stood out as excellent fare. We sat on the sidewalk "patio" which was loud and tables were very close together. Boy did I get a LOUD earful from the table next door about work emails, bad bosses, and needing a new career (eye roll) the whole 1 hour experience. To top it off, the 20-something at the table behind us felt ill and vomited on the sidewalk in front of the doorway just as our food came out. Our waiter was really nice and tried his best. No issues with staff at all. sooooo, I give this place 3 stars because the food was just ok, not memorable, & the ambiance was less average (outside at least) and the other patrons were beyond rude, which I understand the restaurant can not control, but it affected our visit/brunch and ultimately, my review.

Good food but near miss for me as a celiac.

By Lavinia |

Visited here as I had heard it was good for gluten free food and I’m celiac. I wanted a tortilla dish but was told there wasn’t any gluten free tortillas in stock. Therefore I went for a hash. The hash arrived and had a tortilla on it (touching the rest of the food). I checked with the person who gave it to me and asked whether it was gluten free and they said yes (but seemed unsure). So I then went up to the counter to double check and it turned out to be a wheat tortilla. They were apologetic and made my meal again for me but if it wasn’t for my caution I would have become very unwell (an for someone with an allergy it could have been a fatal mistake). The food was nice but some more allergen training needed to make it safe for people like myself.

Sunday Brunch

By Michael C |

This place came highly recommended by friends and it didn’t disappoint. The service was wonderful and the food was amazing. I had the Blu Jam Benedict and it might be the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had anywhere. The had a couple of different versions of it on their menu that I would also like to try the next time I return to LA. My friends ordered Hawaiian French Toast, The Breakfast Burrito, and a Quinoa Scramble. Everyone raved about their food. The only downside about the restaurant is how popular they were. We went shortly after 8:00 am and only waited a couple of minutes for a table. When we left around 9:00 am they had between 20 to 30 people waiting for a table. BUT IT IS STILL WORTH THE WAIT.

Awesome breakfast

By David D |

I loved everything about Blue Jam and there is a reason it consistently appears on best breakfast in Los Angeles lists. Most importantly the food was just awesome. We had the crunchy French toast w/ vanilla sauce which is not to be missed. The best French Toast I have ever had by a good margin. The blueberry pancakes were also very good and they had great coffee. All the dishes I spied at surrounding tables looked quite good as well. The décor was funky and the service was great. Our waiter was on point. My son’s order was delayed due to a mix up so he brought out a fruit cup to tide him over until the food came out. It was not necessary as it was only a few minutes but it was great proactive service. The bus boy was constantly walking around to refill water and coffee. Do not miss this place for breakfast.

nice breakfast !!

By hugh b |

This is for the woodland hills location, have not been to the others. most everything is good here.... the coffee was in a table side press !! love that touch..... be prepared for a little wait depending on the time you get there, but worth the wait.

disappointing, would not return

By Bnh |

Major disappointment. The restaurant appeared to be popular with the amount of people there. The dining area was extremely noisy and was very difficult to have a normal conversation. The emphasis is a breakfast and lunch menu and my omelette was very small and dried out, the potatoes were average but again a very small portion and one slice of sourdough toast (the only bread/toast option) and expensive. On the positive side, the service was very good and attentive. No intention of returning.

Thanksgiving morning breakfast--wonderful!

By GJG |

Fun place, good vibe. Employees were all bustling and happy looking. <--That is great for the Customer. We went there Thanksgiving morning for breakfast. Busy place, quite the Teamwork with the Employees, service was excellent. Loved their Thanksgiving day specials--very creative! Angela, our Waitress was excellent--friendly, efficient, good Customer Service! Our breakfast came in a timely manner. All delicious and perfectly prepared. Good music in the background. Would certainly come here again when I go back to LA.

Excellent Food, Throngs of Patrons!

By Kinmike4 |

This breakfast and lunch restaurant has a reasonable menu selection of organic and low trans-fat foods! It can be a bit pricy, so you might want to share most omlette and salad entrees. Rafael, the house chef, is most accommodating and easy-going, so try to engage him in pleasantries. Take into consideration that the tables are small, and the noise level is as loud an AC/DC concert. Michael S

Nice brunch, eggs a bit runny though

By Alexander W |

Blu jam is a nice place for brunch and have been there a few times now. The food coming out always looks great and they ah w a good variety of brunch options for all palates and appetites. I usually go for French press coffee which is also very fine. Sadly last time I went there the poached eggs were quite runny, with raw egg white in the middle. Hopefully just a one off experience.

Awesome Breakfast!

By dpb |

Great spot for breakfast. Lovely indoor/outdoor space. An eclectic menu with creative takes on the breakfast classics and essentials using fresh, local and organic ingredients. Vegan and gluten free options abound. Excellent coffee.

Awesome!

By Ash World Peace |

This place is the bomb! Great eggs Benedict, French toast, ginger shots. Sandwiches salads and more. Parking in the back. Waiting time is approximately 15 minutes. Very busy and lots going on. You can also order to go. Friendly staff and service. Closes at 3 p.m.

We don’t do takeout on weekends

By Spud577 |

So I went here. Waited til they opened for breakfast at 8 am. Went inside. Fully staffed and clearly ready for business. Not a customer in the joint. I asked about takeout and the lady who was not very friendly looked and me said they don’t do takeout on weekends. Ok. No problem. I get it if you actually had customers and the place was packed. It was a ghost town. So I took my $75 and went outside. I called marmalade .3 miles away. Daniel was super friendly and they took my $75 for breakfast ( I was feeding several people). Go to marmalade. Not here... clearly the person working the hostess stand does not own the place at Blu jam, and nor does she think outside the box. Even if they don’t do carry out on weekends...The place was vacant. Make some money y’all. Say yes. And get a box. I won’t be back.

Good, pricey, long wait

By JoseLuisContreras |

Great place for a Sunday brunch. Waiting time was 45" having arrived at 9:45. The place was crowded and had lots of time to review the menu. Great variety of different breakfast treats although each was approximately $14 which added to fruit juice and coffee you are looking at $20 plus per person excluding service charge which compares with a full buffet breakfast at most hotel restaurants. Service was rushed and not particularly friendly. Suggest better time management and a more friendly service despite how crowded it gets.

Amazing food

By Gemma L |

This restaurant is great! I am a kid and I love this place. The soup of the day is always good and there are lots of choices. As I write this I am actually at the restaurant enjoying black bean soup. I recommended this for parents with picky kids and everyone else too!

Brunch

By Ama O |

Brunch was good/ food was very tasty and delicious / French toast was one of the best I have had/ great location/ drinks are good as well...

BEST EVERYTHING

By Cloverlily |

I went to the one in Woodland Hills. I split the eggs benedict, and the crunchy French toast with my date! The hot mocha was sooo good. I would definitely eat there every day.

Ok, but not spectacular

By Loves-A-Deal-2-Eat |

My family stopped by Blu Jam Cafe because of the top notch reviews. There is 2 hour parking out front on a main road and probably more behind the restaurant in a parking structure. We ordered crunchy Hawaiian french toast and eggs benedict. The Hawaiian crunchy french toast was unique. It came with pineapple sauce instead of syrup, and it was a light bread coated in corn flakes. I prefer regular or southern style french toast with syrup better. The eggs benedict was just average. The quantities aren't large portions, and the potatoes that come with breakfast are a bit dry and in tiny diced size. I think their catsup is homemade and better than Heinz. The waitress was kind, but not attentive enough. We had to ask the bus boy for more tea and the coffee was cold. Plus coffee can only be refilled once, and most drinks cost at least $3.50 which I feel is gouging the customer. For the money, I prefer a different breakfast establishment.

Great place for brunch

By MissS85 |

We met family for brunch at Blu Jam while visiting in LA. It had amazing reviews on all the sites so we figured we would give it a try. Boy, were those reviews spot on. The brunch was just perfect in every way. Our waiter was beyond accommodating. My sister-in-law might be the most difficult person to please and he had the patience of a saint. He wasn't annoyed in the least with all her questions and concerns. All our omelets were cooked to perfection and they were all tremendous. The bacon was unbelievable, crisp and delicious. Blu Jam has a very big following and it's definitely worth the wait on a busy Sunday morning.

Good food but problem with the ordering

By galaxygirl10 |

Had breakfast here one day while staying in LA. The food is very good, but the ordering, paying etc is all done on your phone scanning the QR code. We wasted a lot of time trying to do this, as because we are from the UK it simply would not work, even though we were logged into their Wi-Fi. We were almost at the point of going elsewhere, but in the end the waitress ordered our food on her iPad inside. Also of course you can’t pay in cash and 2 girls left because of this. What’s wrong with a bit of service???

Weekend breakfast with friends

By Enamul13 |

Nice Cosy Restaurent in Woodland Hills. They have contactless menu to bill payment which is very convenient .Very friendly server & mouthwatering food.price also within range.

Love breakfast? Try this place!

By sfvalleymom |

I took my friend here for a belated birthday brunch. The location has had several incarnations, but this latest seems to have hit the right note. I had breakfast: eggs, potatoes, and toast, but my friend had a burger and we were both more than satistied. Good food, good service, not a very long wait (might have been 5-10 minutes).

CRUNCHY FRENCH TOAST!!!

By tylinmt |

The Blu Jam Cafe is a must if you are in the Los Angeles area... My wife, 2 sons and myself went in June on vacation to Disneyland. Excellent service and food!!! My wife and I are going back this weekend for our 12th anniversary get away on 7/25 . See you soon !!!

Good, but could use improvement

By Brian |

I came here to have brunch with a friend considering its one of the places that's open a bit earlier than others in the area. It's highly recommended that you save a spot with Yelp since parking near the area is a bit hard to find at times. The menu is full of diverse items for a variety of taste buds. I decided to be adventurous and try eggs benedict for the very first time and I must say, I wasn't a fan of the hollandaise sauce, but it works very well when combined with the other items. The prices are a bit more expensive for the amount of food you get, but I believe its because of the location and also because it does have a prettier aesthetic for the food. Just wish it was a bit more amount of food that would give it that "worth paying for" feeling. Customer service was okay, but it took about 30 minutes for the lady to come and pick up our check, which i had left already with my credit card but she just wasn't getting the check even though she passed by about 4 times so i found that strange. When she arrived, she said she didn't get the check because she didn't see the card. She could have just asked, no need to mind guess, otherwise, time is wasted. (Sorry, if this sounds like a mad rant. It's not. I'm just saying it from a practical point of view.) It was an okay experience so far. I do see myself coming back, but perhaps a bit more attentiveness and common sense for the servers, and it should be a much better experience for next time.

Good food and good service

By emilyhousden |

Really enjoyed my meal here - there is a long wait to get a table but it was definitely worth it and I love that they serve breakfast all day! Service was really good, everyone was super friendly and I'd definitely go back again!

Aamaaazzzing!

By bela k |

Although the wait was long, but very worth it. They even brought out samples while we waited. So their french toast is the best ever as it is not too sweet, infact they don't even give syrup with it and it tastes heavenly just the same. Each dish is so flavorful, even the blandest of meals evoke such tingles on the palate that each bite is a party in the mouth. Their ginger juice shot, OMG! At first sip it was tart, I mean really sour, but then when the tongue absorbed the individual flavors of the ginger and lemon, a tasteful symphony emerged. I will definitely go back to this place next time I'm in L.A.

Crowded but worth the wait

By DigDug |

It’s always crowded here but the food’s worth the wait. This is a great spot to go to with your friend(s) to indulge in some sweet breakfast grub. There’s parking in back but it’s very limited; plan to have to hunt for parking. Everyone says it: the cornflake crunch French toast is radilicious.

Best breakfast I've had in LA

By William T |

Everything about our visit to Blu Jam was fantastic(besides the wait). The combinations and flavors of the food and fruit juices were interestingly different and well executed. The french toast dishes were some of the best I've ever had. Definitely will be returning every trip.

That’s Some Good Hash!

By James L |

Awesome little spot on Ventura. Can get crowded but wasn’t too bad when I was there. Everything looked great but they had a Chorizo hash for their special so I went for it. So happy I did. It was amazing. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice and their French press coffee is great. They make their own jam. Nuff said.

So Good So Good Soooo Good!

By brab |

So good. Four gals arrived at 10:00 on a Tuesday morning and it was packed. We snagged the last available table. So much to choose but we narrowed our choices down to eggs Benny, two make your own omelettes and a very special Kamil. The omelettes came out perfectly, each accompanied with a yummy fruit salad. The eggs Benny was delish and was so pretty to look at, the eggs were perfectly round ( how did they do that)? Then there was the Kamil....Mac & Cheese Scrambled Eggs with Bacon and a very liberal amount of garlic. This was the most unique absolutely delicious breakfast item that all of us fell for. We ended up sharing this large serving, we were traveling together so the garlic was shared ........ If you can handle garlic for breakfast run do not walk to Blu Jam and have the Kamil. Coffee was good too.

Best brunch in the Melrose area!

By Silvie017 |

We waited almost 1,15 hours to get a table at Blue Jam Cafe on a Sunday morning, but the food experience is totally worth the wait! The tip is to try their signature dish: crunchy French toast with vanilla bean sauce! Great quality and big portions! Super recommended if you pass by LA!

Varied Breakfast Menu, Tasty Food

By areview28 |

Blu Jam is a diner on Ventura Boulevard serving excellent breakfasts at reasonable prices. We enjoyed the Salmon Hash with Eggs which has very generous portions of salmon. Norwegian Eggs Benedict was very good, though the tomato on the Benedict stack distracted a bit from the smoked salmon flavor. French press coffee was outstanding. The outdoor patio isn't very pleasant in the morning with large noisy trucks frequently zooming down the street, so I'd dine indoors. An excellent breakfast stop.

Awesomness on a plate

By Agnes C |

Great service, great food and great atmosphere. What else could you ask for?! The portions can be a little scant, but the food is super delicious. If you get the french press coffee, there is enough to share for two people, so no need to order two.

Very good, but not as good as the Melrose spot.

By Rigel54 |

We were 1st introduced to Blu Jam Cafe when daughter 2 was in West Hollywood. It was a knockout! Large tea brewers, good tea, great food and service. D2 is now in North Hollywood (NoHo). We hit the Wilshire Blu Jam on the way in from the airport, a huge disappointment. The Ventura Blu Jam is much closer to D2's place. The Ventura Blu Jam was very good, much better than Wilshire, not as good as Melrose. They at least had tea ($5!) (Wilshire was "out" of black tea). The food was good, though reduced in quantity, and service was nice.

Sooooo Good!!!

By Russell F |

I was staying near Ventura boulevard when I chanced upon Blue Jam. I ended up eating breakfast there 5 out of the 6 days I was there. Absolutely one of the best, cleanest breakfasts I have had. The blueberry jam that comes with your meal is an extra treat. A little pricey, but so worth it as the entrees are far from ordinary. Delicious!

Real good food, friendly but slow service.

By scan1man |

When we visit our Daughter, we like to visit Blu Jam for brunch. Seems to always be a line, so we aren't the only ones who like it. We go for the food first. Fresh ingredients, creative recipes, and decent portions. Service seems a little slow, but always friendly.

Good restaurant, but a little pricey

My husband and I ate breakfast here last week while visiting from Ohio. He got the crunchy french toast, and I got the California Omelette. Both were very good. We also got the french pressed coffee. Our bill came to $41, which I thought was a little high for breakfast food.

Incredible brunch spot

By Osweg0 |

Great experience at the Blu Jam Cafe....really good breakfast. Fresh food and great service Definitely one to go back to!!

Homeless shelter quality food for major $$$

By Jorge A |

Waited one hour for food to arrive. No coffee refills and no table service. Food taste like block of cheap government issued cheese. Something out of an industrial cafeteria for the. Homeless. Paid $100 for 3 breakfast. Went to waffle house nearby a few months ago. The price at waffle house was outrageous but the food was good. Dont go to blue jam. Any decent review is a scam.

Best breakfast in L.A.

By L3Nola |

An incredible breakfast/brunch spot in Los Angeles. The pastry was out of this world and the omelettes and mimosas were to die for. The place was busy, so the locals definitely know it's great, and in here to confirm that for you as an out-of-town visitor. It would be at the top of my list for a return visit!

Really Good

By cjkranz |

So the food is excellent, the staff is awesome but the ordering process is a little annoying. You have to order on your phone (no waiters). The website that you use to order is not that great. If you press the back button, it’s Armageddon. Other than that, it was a really good experience at Blu Jam. I went with friends and we all enjoyed.

Impressive

By Colin F |

The food here is exceptional ad the breakfast and brunch are no exception. The selection is superb and my daughter ordered the chilaquiles which were good if not outstanding. I had the classic eggs with bacon. The range is impressive and although expensive for a Canadian visiting, average or even somewhat cheap for LA. The food is very good however.

Money gone to waste

By Manny H |

As I do in inmost of my trips I enjoy stoping by small business eateries and try new food in popular tourist areas. I researched Blu Jam Cafe and it showed a review of 5 stars. So I went and embarked into a taste of the place. The food was cold, greasy, no taste and the server that brought out our food server that brought our food was rude, short and not a good fit for the food industry. Part of the food industry is the service. A server should have, politeness, courtesy and attentive to what he is giving the patron. After all no patrons no work!! The inside staff had no quality control and didn’t take a moment to see what was coming out to its customers. The food was greasy, tasteless and over cooked. The breakfast for two was 87 dollars. For the quality of food, service and attention to detail I Give this place a zero. Avoid this place like the plague. The coffee was water down so much, the French press was the same bean from the americano, the cream was spoiled. Same your money and go to IHOP you will get better service and better value. Be safe out there.

This is where you should begin your breakfast with!

By Bun Lay |

My LA friend sacrificed me as a tourist to try this cafe he never went before(he heard from his friend that this is a very good place for breakfast!) and it went great! They have a broad range of toast menu and all of it sound delicious! This is the right place to find yourself a awesome breakfast! The french toast and the egg Benedict is so delicious! The portion size is okay. It is also easy to park. The place is not too hot and nicely design interior.

Pretty average breakfast

By Rebecca J |

Ordered an omelette and it was good but just average, not %100 worth the cost. When people allude to this being a "French" affair, I'm sure they are mistaken for American cuisine dressed in an ascot

Amazing!

By melisav72 |

I had eggs benedict and they were ahmazing! They have vegan friendly options and their staff is very attentive to assisting an requests! Must try: "wake up call" coffee. Yep, it works! I got off the plane and went straight here and it did not disappoint!

Best breakfast I have ever had!

By Lauruna |

I met a local here and absolutely loved the food. I don't eat eggs and often struggle with what to order. Their tofu scramble was to die for. I eat meat but would choose this over anything. We had to get a side of their "crunchy French toast" and it was a life changer!

Always packed coz food is good

By Sheila P |

Prepare to wait in line. This is a popular breakfast place among locals, who looks like mostly in the movie industry. We went there during lunch time and most customers seem to not have day jobs as they seem to be biding their time. Anyway can't complain avout the food and customer service is above par.

No maple syrup

By Creeping_Death_LA |

Weekend mornings can be an issue going out to eat since most breakfast restaurants are crowded, just like this place. We reserved online so we wouldn't have to wait around too long to get a table for two. We ordered a veggie omelet and a side of French toast. The omelet came with a couple of hard slices of bread which I wasn't thrilled about. The French toast doesn't come with regular maple syrup but a vanilla type of syrup. Despite the untraditional condiment and bread the food was still delicious.

Blu Jam Calabasas

By JanLosAngeles |

Second time here for breakfast, this is a review for the Calabasas location..Always crowded but this time we got a better table and did not have to wait. I created my own scramble and it was really good..generous portion, came with fruit and I enjoyed it. All and all, good food, and would go back.

Good Time With the Fam,Food Was the Slam, at the Blu Jam

By mystamyke |

While visiting my sister in the Los Angeles area, she encouraged my father and I to dine at the Blu Jam Cafe in Sherman Oaks. There was about a 20 minute wait, but we took that as a positive sign for good food. Our waiter, Barret from Dallas recommended Steak Hash, Crunchy French Toast, and camil, stating that the Steak Hash was,"Bomb." Barret was correct. The presentation matched the taste. There was smooth jazz style music playing over the small roar of conversation from a mixed culture of people from various walks of life. I recommend Blu Jam Cafe for a great dining L.A. experience. Enjoy!

Tasty, tasty tasty!

By Judith D |

The go to place for a great breakfast with a Mexican flair. Good amount of seating inside and outside, The outside patio has heaters. The service is friendly, knowledgable and fast. Ingredients are fresh, and the tastes are explosive. Lots of vegetarian choices.

Everytime I go to LA I make a stop here!

By Tony L |

Definatly my favorit place in LA. The scramble egss are the best i ever have! And man thos french toast 😭😍 they are really to die for

Excellent Americano coffee

By kiwilelei |

Went again with a friend for breakfast the other morning...it was a Monday and we arrived around 0830... so i ordered the roma/paris scramble .. essentially a vege dish topped with feta ... it was tasteless but filling....i think it simply needed spice...perhaps that's what I was supposed to add by asking for condiments....my bad. My Americano coffee was perfect as was my friends Capuccino. Total bill was $43. really efficient and professional staff. Easy parking.

Outstanding

By Int-TravelReviewer |

I had the best breakfast in LA. Their famous French toast is to die for (defo need at least 2 people to finish) and their eggs and Mexican beans were delicious. It was perfect. Service and atmosphere was also great

Nice

By GeneT60 |

Wow. Enjoyed the Norwegian Benedict. Smoked salmon, perfectly poached egg, spinach, tomato etc. plus crunchy French toast with homemade vanilla bean syrup. Terrific. French press coffee. Very nice. Very casual place. Eat in or out. Short wait. They have fresh squeezed juices and more. Nice selection. Always busy and I see why. A little noisy but that is ok!

Great little restaurant!

By Rich V |

This review is for the Blu Jam at 7371 Melrose Avenue Los Angeles, California 90046. Terrific food and great service!

Fantastic Breakfasts but not cheap!

By Conductor72 |

Just got back from a trip where we stayed in Calabasas and spent each morning having an amazing breakfast at the Blu Jam Cafe. We both came to town with terrible colds and were trying to do some serious juice therapy ;) This was the perfect place! Every day we had fresh juices (I'm an orange and grapefruit type but hubby likes cucumber carrot and apple) and both were great! Best part had to be the nasty but good for you ginger/lemon shots! They bring you a little espresso cup of lemon and ginger juices into which they put a dash of cayenne! Nasty and burning going down but with a sip of regular juice to cool the throat I know it helped kick our colds out! Food was really fantastic! We loved their version of eggs benedict and the Italian fritatta with fresh buffalo mozzarella was soooo delish! They also have a dish called eggs in a nest or something that was probably my favorite thing to eat there. Mention it's your first time there and you may get a surprise treat as we did. Our amazing, friendly and professional waiter, Christian, brought us a crunchy french toast they make that you dip in some sort of vanilla yummyness. It was delish. Not for the faint of pocketbook (if you splurge like we did for fresh juices, ginger shots and cappucinos every day which doubled our bill so breakfast for two was a whopping $72!) But if you're on vacation and want to splurge, this place is great! They also make the absolutely best crunchy (if you ask for it) cubed potatoes! Absolutely recommended!

Highly recommend- excellent food and friendly staff

By Lisa B |

Very tasty food and great friendly service. Extensive menu to choose from and we received free taster crepes with our order. Would definitely recommend

Breakfast and lunch all day!

By Ambersea |

I drive for Uber and one of my riders told me about Blue Jam. I went there for lunch and was amazed at the quality and quantity of the food. I found out that they have no freezers and that everything is fresh and made to order, with deliveries six days a week! Most of the food is organic and locally sourced. Their dressings, jams, ketchup, mayonnaise, aiolis are made from scratch. I ordered the BRUNCH CARBONARA : arborio rice, smoked bacon, green peas, parsley, parmesan, poached eggs, herb pistou. The poached eggs were heavenly... perfected cooked, and they were brown, organic, free range eggs. I had about half of the food left over, so I was happy to take it home for another meal (without the eggs, of course). They use all natural meats with no antibiotics, no added hormones, or added nitrates. They also have Vegan dishes, which are clearly labeled as such on the menu. I studied the menu and already have my next meal picked out... SALMON HASH Chopped Shetland Island salmon, baby spinach, tomatoes, red bell peppers, potatoes, capers, pickled red onions, poached eggs, dill hollandaise, toast. The service was attentive and friendly and their gourmet coffee is outstanding. Hmm... it's getting close to lunch time. Guess where I'm going.

BEET SALAD!

By Robert B |

Best salads are either spectacular or crashing boors. Blu Jam nails it. No little red chunks but meaty, tender, and plentiful yellow babies. Lots of boat cheese, too. My lunch pal had some breakfast thing that looked gorgeous and he all but locked the plate. Going back Will be easy.

Amazing French Toast

By Zitalai |

Blu Jam Cafe is a very popular cafe for young people. I went there with 2 friends. We ordered the french toast, steak hash and Benedict. the french toast is super super super good!

Interesting Breakfast Options

By Steve D |

Novel breakfast selections. Quality is very good. French press coffee is available and highly recommended. Reasonably priced but would not consider a great value.

Food fantastic. Service Meh.

By Michele D |

Most food items are top notch. The service personnel lacked being friendly and attentive as if being there you were asking too much. The time it took to get food from the kitchen was horrendous and it was not at a busy time when a wait would have been expected. I would skip this location.

BEST BRUNCH EVER

By Little Birdy |

There's a reason why there's always a line at Blu Jam...it's that good! Worth the wait, fun environment, perfect for sunday brunch, but expect a line. Service is always fast and efficient, I always order more than I can eat, but it gets eaten. lots of gluten free options and awesome coffees and teas. DO it!

Not worth the 40 minute wait

By Victoria C |

Read the reviews and wanted to experience a good LA, neighbourhood brunch spot. We happily waited for 40 mins on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning. The dining room is very ordinary as was the food , just very average, I had the cob salad ,boyfriend the steak / chicken taco. The dirty iced chai was very good.Service, the usual cheery American affair. Would I return No! Would I recommend... nope ! Sorry guys you were not bad, just run of the mill, maybe the 40 min wait intensified the hype!

Great breakfast

By Peter K |

Although quite a simple interior, the breakfast was great. During our 10 day stay in LA this was one of the best breakfast places we went to!

Great French Toast

By Rob Csenar |

The food was wonderful but the overall experience was just ok. We're glad we went but won't rush back. Nothing specific was bad, it just wasn't a 5 star experience.

Excellent breakfast

By Jennifer B |

Wonderful place to get breakfast. Fresh local food and plenty of options. Staff was very friendly too.

Good place to eat but expect a wait

By chrislaug |

I work across the street and can see that at lunch time there is almost always a wait. Have a very good menu that offers lots of healthy options. I've only been a few times but that's only because the line has calmed down. The service has been great and I do suggest you go. Keep in mind that they only offer breakfast and lunch and are closed for dinner.

Great service that goes with the great food

By Up2me2pickit |

Visting my folks again in the San Fernando Valley, so it was up to me to pick a place since they don't get out much. I found a gem and we all pledged to return on my next visit to the Valley. Blu Jam Cafe offers variety of items (breakfast all day, salads, burgers), "health fit" items as well as gluten free options - a huge plus! We thought our brother and children were joining us but they got lost finding the place so it was just 4 of us sitting at a table for 7. The waiter and all the staff that helped that day were understanding - we never felt rushed or judged for taking up valuable space. I say valuable space because there was an hour wait! The wait although long (place is small) was well worth it! The egg dishes we ordered were delish! My dad had the Bermuda omelet and loved the spinach and goat cheese, my mom made her own omelet and I had the Ranchero (huevos Rancheros) . We all felt the seasoning and combination of ingredients made the food ultra flavorful. My husband ordered from the "fit" menu, a powerhouse dish with high protein and low carbs. He loved it. But he topped it off with the Crunchy French Toast (not on the Healthy Fit menu, needless to say). This was apparently THE BOMB. He doesn't even like French Toast and since I cannot eat food with gluten he swore to me that it was the best he has ever had. SOOO good that he ordered a 2nd round, when my brother and children finally arrived minutes later after we had paid and were walking out. Yup! We made a U-turn and accompanied them. Staff was very courteous and personal the second time around. They joked and laughed with us and did not seem to mind that we returned to eat as they were getting ready to close. Blu Jam Cafe closes at 4pm - A must try when you're in the Valley.

Watch What You Order

By PlatinumHoney |

I have been to this cafe twice before, and each time it was good, however, this time I ordered salmon cake benedict...not very good, not very tasty, odd flavor, odd texture and not a good mix of ingredients, despite the allure of an interesting find. Disappointing, yes, but I'd go back as typically good experience. Busy for lunch, with some outdoor seating and a rather deep inside (so if they ask you to sit by the door, might want to request going into the back).

Eat here for brunch!

By Gwen B |

We loved Blu Jam, a small cafe with indoor and courtyard seating. You can watch the world go by. The French press coffee is excellent and the food is fresh, prompt, and beautifully presented. Staff suggestions are worthwhile. Don’t miss the French toast or either of the Two types of Eggs Benedict.

Breakfast

The signature crunch frensh toast 😋💯👍🏻 Shakahoka blujam Eggs with potatoes 🥔 All food good But make reservations before you come ☺️

Quaint and Delicious!

By Beth W |

Crunchy french toast looks just like the pictures! Eggs Benedict was amazing, better than a cruise ship! My teenage boys had clean plate awards! What a gem to find a little off the beaten tourist path. Enjoyed the "locals" there. DEFINITELY will go back!

Typical American breakfast place

By 704lenac |

We went to Blu Jam for breakfast. Portions are huge and the food is correct, although quite greasy. I found the granola and orange juice too sweet. Salty dishes were ok though.

Breakfast Fate!

By BobbyBluewaters |

Stopped in going thru LA and had not looked up on TA, but no worries it must have been breakfast fate! Wonderful California omelet. Service, atmosphere and food was just how you would want it. And BTW left a $20 more than I thought for a tip and our waiter came outside to see if I had made a mistake. Who does that?

Yep, I'm an oatmeal snob.

By Laurie L |

My husband and I were visiting from Oakland and had a lovely breakfast at Blu Jam Cafe. But I am duty bound to report the oats used to make the oatmeal described in the menu as "steel cut oats" are not steel cut. The bowl of oatmeal was beautifully served. It was topped with fresh berries and toasted pumpkin seeds. It was really good oatmeal. But it was not steel cut oatmeal. This may seem a small thing to you. But for those of us who are devotees it is not small at all. I was so excited to see steel cut oats on the menu. I rarely get to eat my breakfast of choice when traveling. I've even been know to carry a bag of oats with me so I can cook up a pot when we stay in an Airbnb with a kitchen. Yes, I am that devoted. And I suppose you could say I am an oatmeal snob. But rolled oats are not the same and I was dissappointed when my oatmeal arrived and it was not what I ordered. So be warned! Otherwise, Blu Jam was awesome. The hostess was very friendly and our servers were lovely too. It took a while for my soy milk to arrive, but the place was hopping and I should have asked for it from the get go, you know?

Cozy place for breakfast

By saynotomerlot |

We were looking for a nice place to have breakfast on our way to tour Warner Studios. The reviews for Blu Jam looked good so we stopped in. The place was definitely popular and we had a short wait to be seated. Service was good and we enjoyed the french press coffee. I was excited to try Kamil's unique mac'n cheese breakfast And it was good but not great. My wife and daughter split an omelette and the crunchy french toast. The french toast was unique and both items were OK but nothing exceptional. This is a solid place for breakfast/brunch but just average in my book.

Amazing!

By Judith E |

Amazing breakfast at Blu Jam with our toddler! She got a plate of fruit for free, and finished most of our plates as well, and she is a picky eater. The French toast was amazing! The poached eggs were perfect, the staff was super friendly. We would love to go again

Great Breakfast Spot

By Anthony |

We tried blu jam because of the reviews and proximity to our hotel. We stopped in for breakfast which was great. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant does not have servers but a hostess and then bussers/food runners. You can either order from your phone through a QR code or at the front station which I thought was interesting. We ordered a fresh squeezed oj which was delicious and definitely freshly squeezed. The iced latte had a great strong flavor. The only complaint is I drank it too fast. The breakfast sandwich had a perfect crisp to the bread. The egg was cooked spot on to medium so had a slight yolk dripping. The bacon was very crispy and overall it was an incredible breakfast sandwich. The crunchy French toast is breaded with a ground up cornflake. It was very crispy and came topped with fresh berries and two sides of a delicious vanilla sauce. We had a great breakfast and would recommend this spot to anyone.

WOW!

By MelissaPeery |

This is one incredible brunch! Get the Crunchy French Toast and share with the table. The steak hash is also not to be missed.

Bummer

By HikingHonu |

Came here for breakfast before leaving on our drive home to SD. Yelp reviews were great, looked cute when I drove by the day before. Took 15 minutes after we were seated before greeted. Americano and Cappuccino took 10-15 minutes to receive, after we ordered. Food- ordered vegan eggs Benedict and triple breakfast (eggs, a chicken apple sausage and pancakes). Took approximately 30 minutes before we received our order. Benedict was warm, other dish was piping hot. Pancakes were overcooked, rock hard and dark. Sausage was overcooked. Eggs over easy were perfect. Server brought out crunchy french toast due to our food being delayed. They were better than my pancakes. Frustrated, tables who were seated long after us, had their orders in more timely fashion. Disappointed is an understatement...

Great Breakfast

By islam Sherif |

it was recommended by a friend of mine, i had an amazing breakfast with my friend there, the staff was lovely with smiley faces, amazing taste of healthy food. Highly recommended

Excellent for healthy lunch and all-day-breakfast

By FM6565 |

Had the best vegan tacos ever. Healthy but filling and full of savors. A very LA type of food. The service could be more attentive.

Love this place

By Valeriane M |

We had the chance to visit Blu Jam for the second time this month during a trip to California. We first discovered it 2 years ago, and ate at the Hollywood location. This time we had a pup with us, so went to the more dog-friendly Ventura venue. Once again had the hash, and it was fabulous. Very attentive staff, cold water and bowls for the dog. We got lucky and missed the rush, they were queuing up when we left, and many folks had brought their furry friends.

Delicious food, lousy service

By Lex Kiefer |

It’s always busy on the weekend, waiting is unbelievably long. Food here is super delicious, decor is nice especially for Southern California climate. Service was mediocre! It’s always a theory: when the food is great, owner forgets to pay attention to their employees’ performance. My waiter has no personality, flat service like an iron board. Never says thanks or anything, full with poor attitude.....yet he expects the So Cal tips - 18% suggested on the check! It does not run that way. I enjoyed the food very much, the service ruined it!

All is good but nothing really special for me

By Sergey A |

Big portions, tasty, good looking. Good American breakfast without something special. Price is a little high but for such portion is okay.

yuM!

By Glen D |

Overall, the food is solid but you'll have to wait a long time for this place. It's worth it if you have friends in town and they want the true LA brunch experience (which inherently involves waiting anyway). Bring snacks if you have friends that get hangry

Great French toast

By Haley J |

We came here with our 6 year old. My spouse had a scramble that wasn’t his favorite and there wasn’t a kids menu. Prices were high. But the saving grace was the crunchy French toast and the bacon. Both were fantastic and make this place worth the money.

Amazing food!

By sameera e |

If you can avoid their rush hour, the service is wonderful and fast and food is amazing. Chef Kamil definitely knows how to get great flavor in with quality ingredients and without deep frying. Their simple yet flavorful grilled potatoes are what brings me back to this restaurant over and over again. No matter what I've ordered - everything is packed with tons of flavor and never a disappointment. My husband tried their waygu beef tacos and said they were amazing and better than most fancy restaurants he's been to. Everything from their tofu hash to egg dishes and lunch entrees, you can't go wrong. So many options that you can order many different things and never run out of new things to try. Only suggestion is try to avoid weekends where lines are around 45 mins to over an hour wait and sometimes more.

Fantastic brunch

By okosub |

Delicious breakfast in Melrose. The service quick and friendly, the space inside bigger than expected. Kid friendly and did I mention delicious?

YUM!!!

By Kathy G |

Visited this location a couple weeks ago. Great location on Ventura Blvd. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Food is delicious. My favorite is the "Kamil's Breakfast" Pancakes, or the Crunchy French Toast. My Mom loves the Muscle Beach. Lots of parking in back and there is an underground parking lot as well. Dogs allowed on the patio. Staff his very friendly.

It gets crowded so better be early!

By Lancelot78 |

Food was excellent! They offer outdoor dining. I think we arrived as it opened it its already crowded. Be prepared to wait!

Eggs Benedict is amazing

By CINDY R |

Acting you get here is great , my go to for breakfast in the valley , outdoor dining is great , good scene

Delicious!

By Ellen F |

My son raves about this place so my friends and I ventured there one morning. It was very busy with a long line but we were seated fairly quickly. Warning: They have this delicious crunchy french toast - split it with someone because it is very filling, but you have to try it!

Good eats and service.

By Rey C |

This was a surprise only to me as it seems to be busy all the time. Sat right down for a 9am breakfast meeting. Food was great, wide menu, and reasonable. Service was very good and attentive. I had chilaquiles and asked for some real salsa, which the cooks/chefs made fresh for me. Warning, it had a bite, but that's they way I like it. Definitely a must for a breakfast or lunch stop. Plenty of parking in the lot that serves the entire strip mall. Near the Motion Picture Hospital.

Great breakfast!

By Stephan S |

Lovely staff, a really nice crew there! Had a really great breakfast and enjoyed the atmosphere. Be there in time otherwise there will be some queuing.

Delicious Variety and Great Service

By Carol C |

We were visiting Los Angeles and found this true gem of a restaurant. The omelets wee varied and unusual, and all the food was cooked to perfection. We went several times, trying a salmon omelet, poached eggs, and french toast. The servers are attentive and helpful.

The best breakfast bar none

By Scott S |

French press coffee. Let it steep. Order any of the specials that catch your eye. The jam is perfect. The waitstaff is friendly, professional, and attractive. It's the greatest. If you have $25 to throw at a breakfast/brunch/lunch (including tip) this is the place to drop it.

Come early for a spot

By catchat105 |

Wow this place is good. If more than one person is getting coffee, get the French press; it's cheaper (and the waitstaff will recommend as such). There's 4 different takes on eggs Benedict- I went with Norwegian (which had smoked salmon) and it was delicious! Their home fries are cut in a fine dice but with the additional surface area fry up just perfectly. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food, and the overall selection is great, with plenty to offer for the vegetarians among us. The place was pretty full but we came during a lull and easily got a table for 5. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking to do brunch.

Good Variety but....

By Tony K |

First of all, plan to spend a long time to wait for a table on a weekend for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. This is a popular place. It's great that they have several Gluten Free and Vegan options on the menu and that's a big draw when you have people with different dietary needs in your party. The service is excellent and everyone is really nice. I had the Sicilian Tofu Scramble and it wasn't very good. It was just spicy and not particularly tasty. Also, the bill for 4 people for breakfast was $99. Even for pricey LA, that just seemed a little over the top. I will try it again and try something else as there must be something people are lining up for nearly an hour to try!

Loved it! Highly recommended!

By BizTravAnd |

What a cool place! Went there for lunch having read all the great reviews, and we had to wait a while for a table but it was so worth it. It's a really quirky place with a great atmosphere, lovely staff and a fabulous menu. I had the eggs benedict which were delicious. Really enjoyed it here and would definitely come back.

Loved it

By TraveleuseWorld |

We loved this place and had a really good breakfast there! Portion are huuuge but they offer take away. French pancake with toasted coconut, pineapple juice are to die for !! A must try ! Service efficient and friendly.

Best French toast in LA

By Mark R |

I am a flea market( or swap meet as they often say in LA) addict. I've come to grips with this obsession. One of my favs is the Sunday morning market on Melrose. I pair up this ritual with breakfast at the Blu Jam Cafe. While exposure had softened the cutting edge vibe that Melrose used to exude, the Blu Jam continues to be innovative, hip and a great place to eat. Their crunchy French toast is to die for while their eggs Benedict are fantastic too.... So if you want to spend a fun Sunday morning in the West Hollywood area, the Blu Jam and Melrose Market seldom disappoint !

Great breakfast spot!

By ohdonnaoh |

We were staying in Van Nuys and had no desire to fight the traffic in the morning so Sherman Oaks was a great alternative. We went back several times on our visit. Great breakfast with the standout obviously being the delicious crunchy french toast (we think all french toast should be prepared this way...) But the California omelette was delicious! We asked for jalapenos and that made it even better! We'd go back in a heartbeat!

Blu Jam

By Fab B |

The only problem you'll have is waiting. The food and the French Press coffee are great, and the service is beyond friendly.

Very nice.

By Anna G |

Interesting dishes, good service, fresh coffee. Strip mall location leaves much to be desired in terms of an atmosphere and a line of people waiting for a table make it uncomfortable to linger over the pricey French press.

best breakfast in LA

By Arnellegiuppa |

We stopped in here on the way from LA to San Fran and absolutely loved it. The breakfast was massive and was very fresh and tasty. Staff very friendly and attentive. Good selection of food took me a while to choose :) coffee was the best I had in LA also!

Get The Rancheros!

By bodnara2018 |

When we are in town we like to try different places for different experiences and different foods. We came across Blue Jam and were not disappointed. Although super busy, there was flow in customer traffic and getting everyone greeted and seated. Once we sat, we had no issues with service. The drinks can cost a pretty penny but the food is definitely worth the trip. I had the rancheros and it did NOT disappoint. I highly recommend the cafe for breakfast/brunch. If you go the Rancheros is a MUST! Absolutely delicious.

Best Boozeless Brunch

By Sandy W |

New favorite brunch spot! Or I guess maybe just breakfast, since "brunch" often implies that there will be booze too.. And although I never turn down a mimosa, I love having sober brunch at Blu Jam! I've said it before, breakfast food is difficult to find for vegans. But the elusive vegan breakfast is right here guys, and it's delicious. They have oatmeal, granola (I haven't had either), and 2 bangin tofu scramble entrées. I got the ranchero scramble the first time, and braved up to the curry scramble my second visit. Both are good- but go for the curry! For non-vegans out there, the entire menu sounds awesome. Their signature dish is the crunchy French toast. When we told the server it was our first time there, she brought out a sample plate of it along with our order, a nice touch! It looked really good and my friend said it was good French toast with an exciting twist. I just ate the fruit off the top. Ha! I love their dirty chai here, and they also have a juice bar, and loose leaf teas. If you can't decide what you want, their a la carte menu is extensive and helpful: one blueberry pancake, fresh fruit bowl, side of bacon, whole avocado, 2 eggs any way, etc. I'll be returning anytime I can talk someone into joining me!

Ate here TWICE in our weekend visit!

By Jaredonna |

It's THAT good. Incredible breakfast selections. Likely the best burger I've ever had. And, the diced potatoes are off the chain.

Great food and service!

By Diane B |

We dropped in for brunch having read other reviews. We parked easily on a meter across the road. The menu choice was huge and so were the portions that arrived - all very tasty (we had french toast, an omelette, pancakes, a sandwich and fruit bowls), Great service and very relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

Long wait, delicious food

By Anisha R |

We went for brunch on Sunday, the wait was 30-40 minutes. We waited 55 minutes. However the food and service was worth the wait. Everything was superb from the fresh squeezed orange juice to the crunchy French toast and the potatoes. If you are in LA you should check this place out.

Great portions

We ordered shakshuka, crunchy French toast and the muscle breakfast with a side of fruits. Shakshuka was a very good portion, very big and filling, however shakshuka eggs should usually be poached in the sauce. The eggs were poached separately which isn't an issue but it's not traditional, the feta tasted a bit strange to me but that may just be the taste of the feta they use. The crunchy French toast was amazing, packed with flavour and also a great portion. My husband's muscle breakfast was a very large and adequate portion. We also ordered fresh orange juice, however it didn't taste freshly squeezed. Perhaps it was 🤷🏻‍♀️. Service was great, the waiter was friendly and helpful and patient.

Great Menu, really fresh food and attentive service

Walking by we popped in for breakfast and really enjoyed it. The food is plentiful, the quality excellent and the staff lovely. Be aware they are really very busy and although they do look after you well when you first order it drops off a bit once you have been served. It took a long time to get the bill and even longer to get the change. Do not let that put you off though as the food was great.

Amazing breakfast spot!

By ChristyMichelle16 |

This is my new favorite breakfast spot in West Hollywood. Unless you get there the minute they open- Be prepared to wait 30-40 minutes min for a table. (Totally worth the wait) Get the French toast and the chilaquiles! So good!

Brunch with family

By Evni |

Probably the best brunch place in Sherman Oaks! Great for families! We bring our two toddlers here every weekend and love the food and service here. Usually a 15-20 minute wait, but always worth it! I'd suggest the crispy French toast, but everything tastes great!

Great Chilaquiles

This a great place to have chilaquiles. Really delicious. Also, the orange juice is freshly squeezed.

Great Breakfast

One of the favorite stops on our trip. Breakfast was great from top to bottom. Highly recommend the French toast.

Great Breakfast, Out door seating on a gorgeous day

By Debra W |

We ate brunch-- mimosa ( one of each flavor, but orange still wins), signature french toast was lovely change from traditional, huevos rancheros delicious, and eggs benedict divine. BUstling cafe with excellent service. HIgh priced for breakfast, but we were celebrating and went all out.

Quality-5, Service-barely a 3

I just wish they could get their stuff together. Good food. SUCH mediocre service. All the parts are there, just a poorly oiled machine. Again, great food, such mediocre service. OH, and you check in with a kiosk, doing away with some labor costs:/

Long wait but worth it

Expect to wait for a table on the weekends. Great breakfast choices like pancakes, French toast and omelettes. Lunch menu also available. Portions are large. Rather small space do that's why there's always a line.

An hour wait for food

By Classybabe99 |

The food was good, when it finally came, but it would be hard to believe that a waitress who had been checking on our food repeatedly would not notice that our "ticket got lost" for an hour. The manager made minimal amends by taking 10% off and offering orange juice to half the table. You can do better than that.

Excellent breakfast choices, all day long

By vageliskos |

I went there with friends a little bit late for breakfast and a little early for lunch. Everybody wanted something different and we were all satisfied as in this very nice place you can find a selection of excellent food (nicely cooked) for breakfast, lunch and dinner and all these... ALL day long. Friendly service, nice prices.

Brunch

Come in and expect a wait, it’s crowded and seems that it’s the spot to be. There is valet parking and that makes it easier than most spots in LA. Decent options on food, service is good.

TERRIBLE food

By ocneal21 |

The food which took (25-30 min) to come is TERRIBLE I had the NORWEGIAN BENEDICT The benedict eggs wasn't cooked enough you could see some raw white egg coming off. Everybody in this world can make eggs, but if you're working in a restaurant please learn how to cook it. The grilled potatoes on the side tasted very OLD and BITTERISH like it was made a long time ago and was just being warmed up before serving. The muffin at the bottom was all wet and soft when its supposed to be grilled and crispy. And then on top of the muffin, tomato, salmon and spinach they would put some thick yellow sauce which tasted really bad and bitter and unhealthy Plus the fact that any good chef knows tomato and salmon don't mix but that's ok The signature crispy french toast Not crazy but ok Come with a side of milk and there was a hair in the milk You have to pay a dollar extra for your maple syrup, I'm not a dollar short but order any french toast anywhere in the whole wold and you get your maple syrup, it comes with it, that's what you expect. Then the Mocha Was good till I saw ALL those grains of sugar at the bottom of it. You're supposed to mix it properly, at least I thought so. Awful experience, definitely expensive for what it was

Best brunch and coffee

By PlatinumMomma |

The atmosphere is a great community coffee house, bistro feel. There are also two patios if you choose to sit outside. The staff is friendly and efficient. If you’re a coffee drinker, I can’t recommend their coffee press enough. It’s rich, strong and smooth with distinct chocolate notes. Their signature dish is Crunchy French Toast. It’s a beautiful dish served with fresh blueberries and diced strawberries, dusted with powdered sugar and two small ramekins of sweetened cream. It is a fresh, light version of French toast that is not too sweet. They also offer many other breakfast items, from omelets and various Benedict versions to huevos rancheros. Lunch items are available after 11. There is a good selection of vegan and gluten free choices. Parking is limited, although they do have a small lot behind. Do not miss Blue Jam for a great breakfast/brunch.

Delicious breakfast selections served to mid afternoon

Blu Jam is a delicious place to go for breakfast, brunch or lunch. It has really tasty meals and many items are organic. I love the arborio rice with pistu, poached eggs and sundried tomatoes. Their chilaquiles are also fantastic. As a gluten free vegetarian I find plenty to eat here.
