Just had a late night snack

By Local guest |

We dropped in for a light meal aft travelling from the East coast. The clam chowder was good. We also shared a pizza. The pizza crust was light and tasty. The service was friendly and efficient. We were given updates on the progress of the pizza. It was great for what we wanted.

Great food

Food was excellent but if you have to adhere to a gluten free diet, only a couple of items on the menu. Service was very good.

Good Breakfast !

Great staff here, limited menu and buffet, good meal here, service was great, loved the French Toast!

Some switch over bumps, but oh, so nice!

The management is changing, so right now the bar is closed, but this is a pretty restaurant with good food and delightful staff. We arrived late, tired, jet-lagged, and hungry and Pedro made that seem like fun. We had wonderful food for that supper, and again the next morning for breakfast. Genka was a sweetheart and took great care of our large group. The food had flavour beyond belief. Steak had a bit much gristle. I just cut it out and enjoyed the flavour.

Solid Breakfast Menu, Avoid the Buffet

The Blu Restaurant is inside the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Harbor hotel. The decor is trendy and modern. We ate there for breakfast two days in a row. On the first day, we had to wait several minutes to be seated (no one else was waiting in front of us). The man who queued up behind us walked into the restaurant to ask someone to seat us. Once we were seated, the service was attentive. I ordered the smoked salmon toast and coffee. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy and a cup of coffee. The coffee was unpleasantly bitter. My husband drank a couple of sips of it and stopped. The smoked salmon was excellent. I would have ordered it again the next day but didn't (explained below). My husband enjoyed his biscuits and gravy. The food is a little pricey. But considering that it's at a hotel in southern California, it's not unreasonable. On the second day, we had breakfast vouchers from the hotel for breakfast. Once seated, we learned they were for the buffet only ($23 value). The buffet was mediocre food. I'm writing this review four weeks later, and I can't even remember the food; it was so unremarkable. The only specific thing I remember is that the bacon was limp. I would rather have paid and ordered off the menu. If I stay at the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Harbor hotel in the future, I will eat here again, just not the buffet.

Hotel restaurant good for a drink but not food

By fizzy1991 |

This is not a stellar place to have a dinner but the drinks were fine for a late night. Didn't want to venture out that late in a somewhat colorful area. Plus the prices are outrageous. The small quesadilla was just ok but for $12 we expected more.

Excellent

Knowing how large American meals are we asked if we could share 1 meal. Waitress was very obliging & our meal was very tasty & plated up on 2 plates.

We were staying at the hotel post cruise and decided to have lunch here before we left for the airport. We really enjoyed it and the service was great. The prices were very reasonable.

Nice dinner before getting on a Cruise in the AM

Nice restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Good food and good service. The restaurant was very busy when we were there and the service was slow. But we are in no rush.

Slow Service, Great Food

By TravelGypsy |

The sign instructed us to wait to be seated and someone would be with you shortly. After several/many minutes, a male server looked over at us and said he would be with us soon. After many many many more minutes, he finally waved us over and pointed to a couple of tables. I saw this happen over and over. Many people just walked in and sat themselves. Apparently they had been there before. So the next time we visited the restaurant, we did the same, just walked in and took a seat. Even though this was an issue, I would recommend it as the food was very good. They have a buffet in the morning. I normally do not do buffets but this one was wonderful and you can order eggs anyway yo like but be prepared to wait for them. Also there is a daily Happy Hour in the bar area. If you have the time, give it a shot.

Killing Time at the Bar before our Cruise

By luv2travl003 |

With boarding of our cruise ship delayed by norovirus, we opted for lunch on shore. With the exception of the small Ports O' Call shopping area south of the cruise terminal (in which everything was closed), there isn't much to San Pedro. So we ended up at the Crowne Plaza bar/restaurant for a bite of lunch. The restaurant and bar were nearly empty. Food was pretty good. Service not bad, either. Nothing particularly memorable, but decent food and service at a decent price. All in all, no complaints.

Horrendous. Frozen everything . Better to buy Cup O Noodles @ convience store . There are also some decent eateries close by .

Horrible service

We stayed at the Crown Plaza last night for our pre cruise night in San Pedro (will rate the hotel separately). Because we have a person with disabilities in our group we decided to dine in at the Blu Restaurant. We got there early (probably about 4:30) and there was one table occupied in the restaurant. We even commented that we should get great service because there weren't any other patrons besides that one table. After a couple of minutes we were seated, given menus, the usual. We waited about 20 minutes to ever see the server again to give her our orders. Three of us ordered the same thing (California Cheese Steak sandwich, two with no horse radish, one with) the fourth person in our group ordered the Traditional Club with no mayo. Pretty straight forward. Three sodas and one beer. We visited while we waited for our drinks and after about a half hour commented that it was a good thing we weren't hungry. Or thirsty since we still hadn't gotten our drinks. Finally, our drinks came out and our meals followed not even a minute later. The onion rings were over cooked, very hard. And the sandwich with no mayo, had mayo. Had to be remade. We did get one refill on our beverages without much difficulty. After about 45 minutes to an hour later the server brought our bill. We must have waited 20 minutes for our server to come back and get the bill, but she never did. We ended up asking the other server to do it for us because we had already been in the Restaurant for over two hours and we just wanted to go to our rooms. During the time we were there only two other tables came into the restaurant so it wasn't like it was busy, because it wasn't. We did get a box for the leftovers (again, not from our server but from the other server).

Breakfast Buffet

By Kristina Sullins |

Good selection of food. Hot. Well presented. Tasty. Friendly wait staff. Happy to get more juice or coffee. French toast was good. Eggs were runny. Sausage and bacon were both good. Very good selection for a hotel breakfast buffet. Price was a bit high in my opinion, but we happily paid it so we didn't have to go elsewhere. Great breakfast to get you going before heading off on your cruise. It is not included in the price of the hotel unless you find some sort of package.

Best Fish and Chips in LA

They also have a good breakfast buffet especially the omelet bar. The decor is very modern and the service was efficient and friendly

Better if it were half price

By GodfatherJG |

Food is just average except for the price. Seems they decided on $29 as the base price and then tried to provide food to march. Miserable fail. As there is very little competition nearby, they can get away with it. Service is very spotty and support from the bar staff non-existent. Drinks, while decent, continuously arrived after the course was completed, even though they were ordered together.

Vibrant bar scene

A fun, fast-paced place to socialize before your flight. Good, but pricey, bites and cocktails and attentive, fast service make this a great, convenient place to wait for your flight.

Like the hotel, it was ok.

Ate here out of convenience. Was good enough, but kind of pricey. Beer selection was limited too. However, our waiter was great.

Quiet, courteous and enjoyable

By Simon-in-Civic |

The Blu is a large not especially well patronised the night we went there, but that doesn’t take away from the relaxed environment and the enjoyable cuisine. If you’re in the vicinity, drop in and enjoy a reliable American cuisine experience. I enjoyed the avocado and chicken role; very enjoyable.

Outstanding Burgers

By Cruiserpam1 |

We checked into the hotel after a late flight into LAX and went to Blu for a late dinner. Ordered burgers and fries which were excellent. The restaurant is a bit pricy but that's ok if the food is good.

Good Hotel Restaurant

By Angela S |

Hotel restaurants are always iffy ... and usually expensive. While the food was priced slightly higher than you may pay at an off-site restaurant, the food was very good. The short-rib grilled cheese was fantastic as was the flourless chocolate cake. I had breakfast one morning was typical hotel buffet fare but it was decent. The atmosphere, especially in the Blu Lounge is great. Bartenders Francisco and Bobby are wonderful and after the first night with each felt like long-time friends.

Excellent Customer Service

By Nita J |

We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days at the Crowne Plaza this week. We were a group of 10 people which included kids. We visited the Blu restaurant every morning and we were served by two amazing people -Genka and Greg. Genka served us the first two days and on the third day she was off and all of us including the kids were disappointed to not see the chirpy and lively Genka. To our surprise, Greg who served us on the table was really great as well. They both went the extra mile to ensure that our kids had a hearty meal. The buffet had a good variety but kids being fussy by nature had their own specifications. Eggs, milk and cereals were all provided to the kids exactly the way they would like. Visited several restaurants over the last so many years but these two knew really well how to take care of customer needs. The next time you visit the Blu restaurant make sure to ask for one of them- I highly commend their professionalism.

Great Food and Atmosphere

By hiredpen |

The restaurant offers breakfast buffet or several other delectable menu offerings. Dinner includes specials and a full-packed menu. Burgers are great if you want something fast.

Larger Meals, Good place to kill time

Larger meals for airport food. Some of the better in the airport. Price wise solid value for what your getting... its AIRPORT FOOD so dont be shocked but its legit by my standards.
