Delicious food with healthy portions and sides

By Xeuropn |

We ate here at the suggestion of our daughter, and the food did not disappoint. Plenty for the three of us to handle. Paired our lunch with the IPA on tap. Great service from our server Brock. He gave us tips on portion sizes and to try the top appetizers. In the end, he helped us pack up our to go orders, too. Just that extra effort to finish up our meals.

Worst BBQ Ever

By John H |

Worst BBQ I've had in a very long time. I'm from Chicago and this is some trash. Dry, tastless meat with flavorless sauce. Was given half the portions I ordered and also half the flavor. Bunch of bums.

Amazing slow cooked BBQ meats!

By Hutes |

Amazing slow cooked BBQ meats in a laid back diner. The brisket, pulled pork, rib end, bbq chicken salad and seasoned fries were amazing!

Delicious BBQ

By Mike Kowalczyk |

What incredible barbecue with atmosphere and service to boot! I, of course, had to try a little of everything and it's easy to do as you can order by the quarter pound. Sides are great, too, especially the cole slaw and mac n cheese. It gets busy and they don't take reservations so get there early and enjoy!

Bludso- Great Texas Style BBQ

By AjaxBassman |

Had the pleasure of eating at Bludsos back in September when me and my two adult sons were in LA for Rams / Saints and Bruins / Sooners matches. We went on a Friday night and the place was busy. I was pleased to see a lot of happy faces and people leaving with doggie bags. Indicator food was real good and portions decent. We sat outside and had very good service. We were quite hungry, and big eaters so ordered the Bludso’s tray, listed to feed 6 - 7. It was large quantity of food, and we couldn’t finish it all. Qty was probably enough for 4 - 6 people. We loved the food and we were actually glad we had some to bring back to the house we were renting. The meat was tender, juicy, and smoky. It was real Texas BBQ, and not smothered with that nonsense sauce that covers and masks the meat and smoke flavours. Me and the lads found the Texas Red Hots were too hot for our liking, but we’re not great with real spicy food. The sides were very good, but not outstanding, and better than we’ve had at Smoke BBQ places elsewhere. I did come down with pretty bad Gasto later that night, but almost certain it wasn’t from anything we had at Bludsos, as it came on in such a short time span, and me and my two sons ate all the same stuff and they were fine. Perhaps I shouldn’t even be mentioning this as it’s likely irrelevant. If back in LA we’d go again. Definitely recommend.

Best BBQ In West L.A.

By teresa w |

Not too fancy but great dining! Big screens for sports bar entertainment! Interesting check list to order from. When the server brings the food it's all on the same tray and you get individual plates so you can sample what everyone else ordered! Paper towels and an open box for spoons knives and forks on each table. Loved the baked beans and potato salad! No carpet so it's noisy when there's a big play in the game! Valet parking or you might find some on the street. Happened to see Danny De Vito and his wife Rhea Pearlman leaving after a meal! Great food reasonably priced for the location and a full bar!

Great BBQ in LA.

By Steven D |

We went in for the happy hour and were pleasantly surprised by the decor, delicious, tender and satisfying brisket with amazing BBQ sauce(pickles were delicious too!). But what really blew us away was the great, friendly, attentive service from the bartender. He may have been in a more pleasant mood that normal because their holiday party was later that night, but whatever the reason, it sold us. Great location right on La Brea!!

Meats are spot on but sides were lacking/too high priced

By mlpbjm |

Bludso’s BBQ-Teaxs style BBQ in Los Angeles. One of four I found in my research and the closest to the hotel. Good reviews so we went for it. Food turned out to be real hit and miss. No multi meat platters here. All ala carte/family style. All sides cost $6.50 for half a pint including slaw!! No green beans. Meats were mostly standard issue-brisket lean or fatty, pork ribs, pulled pork, ribs tips, chicken. Also smoked jackfruit and a chicken link. The unique meat on the menu IMO was the beef ribs by half and full rack! And reasonably priced at $17 for a half rack. We see beef ribs other places at upwards of $30 each bone. I think the difference is how they are cut/part of cow. The ribs served here were obviously the same as you would find cut from a prime rib/sold in grocery, beef back ribs. I believe the larger type ribs seen elsewhere are a plate short rib cut from a different section of the steer. I immediately asked if they were out of anything and was told no but he'd check. Came back to tell us that only one beef rib half rack left. Jumped on that immediately. Waiter suggested just ordering one thing at a time as food came out quickly. Hmmmm. After major missteps in the past when ordering brisket at dinner elsewhere, decided to skip today. Chose to add the quarter rack pork ribs, A portion of slaw, a potato roll, and piece of cornbread. I will say unequivocally that both meats were delicious. Well rendered bark, rub redolent of black pepper possibly too heavy for some really pervasive flavor. Moist, lovely rosy smoke ring, and a heady smoke flavor profile. They use post oak here I believe-should have asked. The meats were delicious without sauce so wasn’t needed but served with two different versions regular and spicy. We were told this after trying and then and both had very nice flavor. We don't do spicy but the one labeled so was not a problem for us. The meat experience here was a solid A. Can't say the same for other items. Slaw was typical with maybe a bit more black pepper than the majority we've found. I liked it, wife not as much. But no way was it worth $6.50. No chopped cabbage with dressing would be. Normally we might have added say some green beans-n/a-or potato salad but at the price per serving just no way. The potato roll was a potato hamburger bun!! Listed as from a famous Pennsylvania bakery. Not worth it IMO. The cornbread was warm, a nice portion, and served with honey butter. But it was so dry and crumbly that the first bite spread crumbs across a wide portion of my plate. Not enjoyable. Only ate half. I would love to just use an A grade but the drawbacks bring it down to a B minus. They do know what they are doing with the meats, that I’m sure of.

Great meat but sides are tiny and expensive !!!

By Pierre-Jules_U222 |

Superb tasting meat, amazing bbq smoke and flavor ! Staff is super friendly and always willing to help to make sure you are happy. Sides though are extremely TINY and very very expensive for such small portions. It would be nice to have more variety in the sides as well. Good place.

Good Q and a great bar

By Andrew Trentacosta |

Attractive BBQ joint with an impressive bar. Good choices for different meats and a good happy hour menu. Cornbread is small, but very tasty. Bartenders are friendly and professional. PBR for $3 and good sliders during happy hour.

Didn't even get to eat here

By Michelle A |

Arrived early around 6:00 to be sure we could get the meat we wanted. NO PARKING. Other reviews said lots of street parking. After circling the area for 10 minutes we parked 2 blocks away. It's also not the best neighborhood to be walking around. No one was waiting for a table except for 3 people just inside the door. We were told it would be an hour and a half wait so we left. Such a disappointment!

Incredible bbq

By Peggy05 |

Yeah I can’t fault this place at all. The meat is lovely. Good service. Nice drinks. I liked it that they had a wide selection of sport on the TVs. Can’t wait to go back!

The REAL deal BBQ

By Melanie G |

I have had the pleasure of eating Q here and at the Compton location. Here's the deal. They do great BBQ. Period. Yes, they've got a great convivial sports bar atmosphere and serve great cocktails but at the end of the day when they plop that plate of Brisket, Ribs, Chicken or whatever on your table (set with a roll of paper towels and a canister of utensils) and you dig in...you will be in meat heaven. Oh and the pickles (YES the PICKLES) are fantastic. Housemade. Yummy. Oh and the mac and cheese, greens, cornbread and beans are fantastic. Never have room for desert but have tasted it when other peeps at the table have gotten it and every single dessert has been astounding.

Just great!

By basilis5 |

This place is just amazing! Great food if you are up for smoked bbq meat! Great cocktails while stuff is so friendly and nice! Prices are also reasonable given the quality/quantity! 5* easily!

Always great

By KateHud |

Super friendly staff, delicious bbq, tv's w sports (no volume, so you're not distracted by them if you don't want to watch) just a great addition to the neighborhood. Not cheap, but great quality. Ask your server how much to order. If the weather's nice, it's fun to sit outside. It's not the Champs d'Elyse but who doesn't like La Brea?

Best Ribs in Cali

By trevorlandia |

I love ribs. I grew up in Oklahoma eating good ‘ol country pork & beef ribs. Since I moved to California I haven’t found a place that matches the quality of BBQ that you can easily find in the OK state & Texas until I went to Bludso’s! Living in The Central Valley near Bako I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to visit. On a business trip this week I took a trip across LA to pick-up my order. I called ahead several hours but they lost my order. Upon arrival, no food but the staff were super fast! I went to the bathroom came out and boom - bag in hand and out the door. I ate the ribs in the car and it made the hour drive back to my hotel a dream. Those ribs are soooo good. They took me back to memories of the best rib place in my hometown except Bludsos make them a little spicier which is just perfect for me. If you’re around Hollywood, you better eat at Bludsos!

Great ribs, tasteless sides - horrible take out service

By LAtravelover1 |

had lunch here and the ribs and links are out of this world though the beans and mac & cheese were tasteless. ordered pick up the next week and not only did I have to wait ten minutes before a rude hostess found the order, but they got it wrong and there was a hair in the sand to boot. did love the ribs but not worth the hassle so off my bbq list

BBQ that satisfies.

By pyramid_livin |

Great BBQ spot, with sandwiches, mains and sides done right. I was only in town for a short while, but managed to make it down for lunch one day and had a brisket sandwich and a few sides. Prices were totally reasonable and the food was fresh and delicious. Would love to visit again sometime and try more!

Amazing BBQ food!

By Charli P |

We visited Bludsos last night for dinner after reading good reviews online and it didn't disappoint! My husband and I shared half a rack of ribs, rib tips, brisket, beans, Mac & cheese, pickles and cornbread and it was AMAZING. We've been to quite a few BBQ restaurants and this was by far the best we've ever been to, we'd definately recommend it to anyone who loves BBQ food. The beer, atmosphere and staff were great too.

If service was the meal this place would be off the charts!

By lowbuxlux |

I was fortunate to have a little back story about this place. The original location is in the city of Compton. Yeah so the west side folks are most likely not going to find their selves in Compton so this location on La Brea is a PRIME spot. PURE and GOOD BBQ spots west of Labrea and North of Wilshire are non-existent. So I'm still happy of this pleasant surprise. My friend from Compton took me here so I was able to get a run down on the prices. YES there is a sticker shock for people who are use to the Compton location. The service is super great! the inside is nice and bright and has neat picnic type outdoor wood bench seats. The table next to me had a discrepancy with their order and there was no PROBLEM. The manager happened to be the one serving their plate and said oh no worries I'll just get you another one. The meat doesn't come DROWNED or with sauce at all. All the meat was smoked. As I took a bite into the rib I could smell the smoked flavors. The taste was excellent. The brisket, although yummy I was served a piece that was SUPER fatty. SO fatty I couldn't eat that piece. I'm SURE if I made a fuss about it they would have replaced it. BUT for the price it should have NEVER been on my plate. BUT ALL other pieces were yummytastic. This is where it gets hard and know this is all based on my personal preferences. The sauce: I like SWEET sauces. Bludso's although GOOD sauces have a smoked flavor and tastes as if it has a beer base. Give me honey and and sugar taste any day PLEASE. ;-) The mac and cheese: hrrrmmmm I like CHEESY, and although cheesy it was VERY fancy mac and cheese mixed with seasoning. It was good, but when I have BBQ seasoned and flavorful, REGULAR MAC AND CHEESE is perfect for me. BBQ beans: Okay so curse me. I like Busch's baked beans from the can lol they are SWEET. The baked beans here are made with the sauce and they were ALMOST spicy. Cornbread: It was okay. Need I say I like Jiffy. Ha ha So if the sauce were sweeter this would be EXCELLENT. however, the SMOKED meat...you can't get that ANYWHERE!

Just OK

By aresverde |

We were a group of 7 friends and it was our first visit. The room was busy and loud. Despite the ceiling sound dampers in the dining room, the noise level was so high we could barely hear each other speak. Service was consistently good al night. To the food: We ordered platters of mixed BBQ, a few extra meat dishes, plus salads and sides. Food looked better than it tasted except for the chicken which was very good - everything looked like Austin BBQ but all the beef and pork meats were tough - either off-grade in quality or overcooked or both. For example, the brisket was not tender and tough to chew, and the baby backs were cooked so much they had little or no meat, just char and bone. The beef ribs were better but just average in flavor. At best this entire dining experience was just OK.

Texas take a back seat

By sogonblick |

BLUDSO'S BBQ is the best texas BBQ move over Texas.. The LEGEND OF BLUDSO'S BBQ BEGINS IN CORSICANA, TEXAS, WHERE THE BLUDSO FAMILY HAS BEEN PERFECTING THE CRAFT OF SLOW-SMOKED MEATS FOR FIVE GENERATIONS. Need I say more.. Homemade pies, homemade everything from scritch is fabulous doesn't really matter the price worthwhile BBQ is hard to find and make "BLUDSO'S BBQ" a destination point..

Great Texas style barbecue

By David L |

We had a very nice dinner at this Texas barbecue restaurant, which only cooks so much per day and when it is gone, it is gone. We had pulled pork, chicken, mac and cheese and cornbread. All very tasty.

My BBQ Home Away from Texas

By Julian M |

Look, here's the deal... 1st, It's L.A. so speaking to you all about pricing is like asking you if a Bear does doo doo in the woods... Next, I'm a Texan who now lives in California and I lived in the heart of Texas BBQ Country for 17 years before I moved out to California and Bludsos DOES NOT DISSAPOINT. If you gonna go order the brisket people, don't be ordering chicken although it's really good too but you going to a Texas Style BBQ then eat the brisket and do not choose the lean meat either or please leave. Great location Great People lots of room and great beer. Order the Shiner Bock and if you don't drink beer, order a Big Red and make sure you get wonder bread to eat your brisket and sausage with that's the way it's done where I'm from get dirty and enjoy!

Great BBQ, so good the dry cleaning is worth it

By Friday13th_9 |

I enjoyed everything with the exception of the ribs which I felt were overlooked. The sides are fantastic and the pulled pork is so tender and juicy it melts in your mouth. The brisket was superb. The downside is that after enacting here you need a couple of showers and a dry cleaning for your clothes because the smoke is overwhelming. I put my clothes into my hotel room and left them all day and now my room smells of smoke. But would I go again? Yep! I might sit outside if possible and if not I would wash my clothes and shower after my meal again. Enjoy.

Real BBQ

By Brian L |

I have to say for California BBQ, this is the place. Blows Phil's of SD out of the water. Brisket can be had either lean or fatty, depending on your preference, for me I like the more flavorful fatty side, it has deep smoke rings, tender moist and nice bark. Ribs, perfect fall off the bone, not droopy, firm but easy to get clean off the bone. Very flavorful. The sauce is the only thing I think is so-so, seems too tomato and rough. Sides never disappoint no matter what we've gotten. In my opinion, Bludso is awesome but does have some stiff competition from Jav's and Smoqued.

Beyond Disappointed!!!!

By FormerChicagoGal |

Made a special detour to come here today - but in the end it's another "why did I bother" ending to stories in LA Dining experience. The meats are top quality - the rub is overpowering the they are smoked much too long so that you can't rid yourself of the smell hours after eating. This is no way to enjoy BBQ. BBQ should be fall off the bone tender and chicken should be juice. NOT.Cole slaw is shredded cabbage with oil and vinegar - period. What's to like? Good quality meat. What's not to like - the rub, the oversmokng to the point of dryness and the sauce. Might as well be KC from the jar. Maybe it is?

LEGIT Texas BBQ (Dallas Native Here)

By davidmK9447PM |

Being a Dallas native I'm very picky about my BBQ. Bludso's is the only LEGIT Texas BBQ I've ever found outside of my home state. You can taste the difference in every bite. They use whole log pieces of pecan to smoke their BBQ, the result is an amazing caramelization of all the meats. NO OTHER BBQ COMES CLOSE. Make the drive, order extra for the next day... you can't go wrong!

Barbeque Heaven!!

By Faye K |

OHHHH you must go to Bludsos on La Brea ave in Los Angeles, CA!! They may make you wait for a table and the food, but oh is it worth the wait!! Their Brisket is amazing, falls apart, the pork ribs are meaty and tender, the Collard greens, and Mac & Cheese, Cornbread, Potato Salad, just really everything is amazing! I will be eating here often if you want to come say HI!!

Not the best experience

By DeeJ |

The food quality has slipped. The food was very lackluster, in fact, most of it was barely edible. The pork ribs were very small, and tough. The brisket was similar, pretty hard and only a few pieces. for 80 bucks, we didn't get much food, and it wasn't very good food at that. The blackberry cobbler had a lattice top. At first, we were impressed that it was homemade. Then we tasted it. The berries were very tart, almost bitter. There was a cinnamon flavor that didn't go with blackberries at all. If it were a peach or apple cobbler, the taste would have matched. The first visit to Bludsos a few years ago was great. They're resting on their laurels, or their ham hocks. Will never go back again.

Pretty good bar-b-que - High Prices

By Tom C |

Simple and straightforward menu - pretty much all ala carte. Had the brisket and the pulled pork. Tasty, but nothing to write home about. Parking is nearly impossible (unless you want to pay for valet). Prices are kind of high for a bbq joint,

Mouth watering goodness

By LiveInTheMoment75 |

I've eaten here twice - only because I live more than 350 miles away. That's probably a good thing because living closer wouldn't be good for my waistline as I would probably eat here at least once a week. Because I had been here two years ago (you know a place is good when you remember the meal you had years later), I knew for certain I was getting the brisket again. During my most recent visit, we ordered 1/2 pound of brisket (moist), 1/4 chicken, two beef hot links and the seasoned fries. As soon as the tray was placed in from of me, my mouth started watering. Have you ever looked at food and just knew it was going to live up to all of your expectations? Well, that pretty much sums up this experience. The brisket was fork cut tender and extremely flavorful. It wasn't even necessary to use the barbecue sauce provided. The chicken was so good that I ordered some to go (I had to take the link to go as well. I was too full to eat the whole thing while there. It has a nice, spicy kick to it). The fries were hot and well seasoned -- and there were enough for at least 3 people to share. While the meats are fantastic, the sides are just eh (hence the 4-star rating). My friend ordered the brisket/hot link sandwich, and coleslaw and beans as her sides. I tasted them and was really glad I opted for the fries. On my previous visit, we ordered the mac & cheese. I wasn't willing to try it again this time. We went on a Wednesday early afternoon, so the place wasn't too packed. Service was on point and the food arrived quickly. Finally, I reheated the chicken a few days later and I was mad at myself for not ordering more! Guess I'll have to take another trip back to LA soon.

Awesome!!!

By Richy B77 |

So good we ate here twice!! Really good food, awesome melt in the mouth brisket, nicest fries we’ve ever tried and keylime pie worth dying for!!!

Pretty Nice but Expensive

By Gemma M |

We tried a bit of everything when we visited this place and Diners, Drive In’s and Dives raves about it. The brisket was quite nice and the ribs were pleasant but not as good as expected. The meat was quite over cooked with the pulled pork and chicken being quite average. The macaroni and cheese wasn’t very nice but the collard greens were delicious. Although after visiting my partner attempted his first batch at home (made with smoked turkey leg) because he became obsessed with collard greens and they were a lot nicer then bludsos (and cheaper!) I would recommend if you can not find any other nice bbq in LA as it was nice but I would not visit again.

Incredible BBQ

By elizabethlascheid |

Bludsos has some of the best BBQ in the area. They have a great selection and everything on their menu is great. They even serve drinks. With Covid, you need to have it delivered or you can pick up. Call in your order ahead and it will be waiting for you. Parking is often a pain, but right now, you can just stop in front and get your food. All the employees follow Covid guidelines. They have some of the best cornbread and it is huge, like everything they serve. They also have Texas hot links and boy are they yummy. Try the 1/2 rack ribs while you are there. You will be in heaven. Have a great time.

Really good barbeque

By Mark S |

We heard that it was good, but you never know until you try for yourself. Given that we tried the brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork and hot sausage I can now reliably say it is some of the best barbeque we have had. The meat is as tender as can be and has great flavor. The mac and cheese is a little peppery, which we really enjoyed. Not a drop left. Rest of the sides were all good. All of the meat is served one big tray which can be a little intimidating if not confusing. It is a dry barbeque served with a hot and mild sauce on the side, which is the way I prefer it. Service was very good. Prices are on the high side, but worth it for the quality and taste.

Food I love and Space I like

By Elaine C |

We ordered ribs and chicken which I found very good and filling! The serving was generous too (I guess it is the standard in the US!). I love the iced tea - sweet and tasty, complimented the flavorful barbecued pork and chicken. The dessert was delicious but again, it was big even for two people to share! I was quite impressed with the associates who served us. They are very friendly and efficient and provide prompt service! I find the space very spacious too, even it became crowded at some point, it was not that cramped nor deafening with the noise.

Legitimate BBQ in Los Angeles.

By Brian C |

There are places to get BBQ in LA, but this one is different. It is also excellent. It rivals the places in Texas I have visited like Freedman's and The Salt Lick in Austin, and Corkscrew in Houston. The true test of a BBQ place; can the meat stands on its own without sauce? Bludso's does. Each meat has its own unique flavor and texture, which is not always the case at BBQ restaurants. It is clear that Kevin, the owner (whom I met), pays attention to the details--even to the side dishes.

IT IS ALL GREAT

By elizabethlascheid |

Bludsos BBQ is real Texas BBQ. They have a real smoker and the works. This is not play time BBQ. They have their own BBQ sauce is you want to buy some and take home. The service is good and the menu full. The price point on a few items is high but overall, reasonable. We love it. We have been back a few times just for their pulled pork sandwich, it is ever so tasty and the pork just melts in your mouth. They also have the best sides, including their greens, mac and cheese and beans. You will be in heaven. They are also a sports bar and usually have a game on. I don't watch sports but it was not loud and did not disturb my meal in any way. Try the links as well. You are going to love this place.

Really great Texas BBQ

By David M |

We had a little bit of everything...rib tips, 1/2 rack ribs, 1/2 pound of lean brisket and a Texas Hot Link. Sides were baked beans and macaroni and cheese. The ribs were really terrific...fall off the bone tender and great with both their regular BBQ sauce and the spicy one. The lean brisket was a little dry but with sauce it had good flavor. We had two orders of their sliced pickles which were wonderful...crisp and flavorful. The Texas hot link wasn't hot enough for me but had wonderful flavor too.

Loved it

By K6KN |

First time here, we’ll be back. All excellent but potato salad was rather bland. All else was great. Lunch sandwich plate was just the right portions. We shared four sides, tasty. BBQ beans were our favorite. Fine service. Good for conversation as the sound level was reasonable.

Great BBQ in the City

By benny3345 |

Came in on the recommendation of a coworker and was not disappointed. The best part: Walking in the door and being greeted with the aroma of smokey BBQ. The place smells excellent. We shared the food so we could all try different items, and there was not one item I regret. The brisket is unreal - tender and full of flavor. It is a must get. The ribs and chicken were also good. We sampled the desserts and found those to be very good as well, I liked the peach cobbler.

Very solid BBQ

By JAOXON |

This is a really good BBQ joint with good drinks, good vibe. The ribs are great with a nice dry-style rub. They also keep well and cure hangovers when eaten cold from the fridge.

Superb BBQ

By Charvey17 |

So first of all, the staff in here are amazing. We visited on 13th July (The afternoon of the world cup final) and were so well looked after on an absolutely packed day in the restaurant by staff who always made sure we had everything we needed - whether that be food or drinks (There were $3 house beers on offer - incredible value!) The food was even better though. Mac & Cheese was one of the best I've ever had and the brisket, pulled pork and rib tips were sensational. Really smoky meats and some of the best BBQ I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. If you are in the LA area check this place out!

Delicious Dining Deal!

By ghovinen |

The lunch special sides are all delicious- and the cornbread piece was HUGE. All four of us highly recommend! Plus, you can say you have been to a DDD spot.

Really good BBQ

By thisgirl_Gray |

The BBQ at Bludsoe's is quite delicious. Pros: The meat is always well seasoned and tender, not dry. Con: you better get here early or else they may be sold out of your meat selection. I usually get the ribs, the tri-tip, and the pulled pork because those are my favorite meats here, but the sausage and the chicken is also delicious. Stopped in again on 11/13/15 for lunch takeout. I got the ribs because they were already out of the brisket and it was only noon and the open at 11:30am. I also got the small greens and the macaroni and cheese as my side. The sides are just okay. I think I do better at these items, but when I'm lazy and don't feel like cooking a big meal at home, Bludsoe's is a reasonable substitute.

Hole in the wall, but what a surprise!

By Cateyes I |

The establishment I visited was in Compton, Ca. on the outskirts of Long Beach, CA. (Alondra and Long Beach Blvd.) I happend to be looking for a good BBQ spot and while I was reading reviews for places in the surrounding area, I noticed this one had rave reviews. When I went, the location was not the best, but the food was well worth the drive. The location is small so there is no indoor dining. You get your food and go (take out orders only). After I realized they had been zagat rated and had the guy from the food channel give them a great review I knew I was in for a treat! The meat was tender and seasoned well. The BBQ sauce has a great hickory, yet sweet flavor (with a hint of spice, even though you can order it mild or spicy, mild still has a little kick!) you'll fall in love! If your near the area and want BBQ this is a place you definitely must try!!! The only negatives about the place is, sometimes there is a long wait and the place is small with no line organization so you kind of have to figure out where to stand and not loose your place in line.

Good Choice for BBQ

By Charles W |

This is a popular restaurant. The inside was very loud. We opted to eat outside which was good. We ordered the BBQ platter $95. This has a sampling of most of the popular mains and sides. There was more than enough food for 4 people and we took home enough food for 2 more people. The food was very tasty. The service was excellent.

Great BBQ for LA, Not the Best Area

By Eric B |

Not in the best neighborhood, but great BBQ for being in LA. I heard there is a hipster friendly Bludso's in a better area if you want to pay triple, having a dining experience, and have alcohol while you eat. Remember when reading this I now live in Texas, so I have become kind of a BBQ snob. We ordered a little of everything. We tried ordering the links, but they were all out. Their versions of burnt ends were excellent and tender. Their ribs were very tender and delicious. Chicken was delicious and moist. The brisket was delicious, but you had to get through all the fat. If you don't mind fatty brisket this is great for you (yes I know brisket is a fattier cut of meat, but I have had lean brisket at many places). The mac and cheese was delicious, but not for the faint of heart. There was a nice pool of grease/yellow oil sitting at the bottom of the Styrofoam container. WE were a huge fan of the cole slaw. We received our order pretty quick. If you don't want it to go, there are some wably tables they have set up around the corner, but they are kind of hidden.

Best BBQ in LA

By sn0wst0rm |

I've been to Bludso's many times and never been disappointed. Except that often I go so late they're out of the beef short ribs. But last night that wasn't the case. Though the wait was 1.5 hours, so we ordered to go and walked out with our amazing dinner less than 10 minutes later. Oh man... those beef shortribs... a.m.a.z.i.n.g.! Things to love at Bludsos: The meat. All of the meat. The sides. All of the sides. The beer on tap is pretty dope too. Atmosphere: you'll sit at varnished picnic tables and chow on some amazing food while TVs on every wall will broadcast whatever popular sports event is happening. Last night was a basketball game, which was why the wait was so long... people were mostly finished eating, but weren't giving up their tables until the game was over. It's pretty great to go to a restaurant and know they aren't going to kick you out the minute they've cleared your plates. People dress casual, but people also dress up to eat here. So, pick your flavor of night you want -- everything is welcome within reason. If you like spice, try their hot bbq sauce. MMmmmmmmmm!

Awesome ribs!

Stopped by Bludsos on a Sunday evening for dinner after a flight. There was easy street parking for that time and they were moderately busy. Great bar to set at with a reasonable beer selection. The menu is completely a la carte- everything down to the cornbread and pickles are a check box with an associated price. Great, because I wanted to focus on the meat! I sampled a half slab of beef ribs and quarter pound of brisket. The brisket was tender and tasty with a nice layer of bark/rub, but the beef ribs were the Star. Delicious and tender. I would go for the full slab next time. They were the best beef ribs I’ve had outside of Austin TX. Coming from the south, rib culture was always pork- but this quality of beef rib will convert the most stalwart pork rib fan. Mild and spicy sauce was supplied in the side which was nice. Half slab was $17 and worth every penny. Great place- I will be back.

Local bbq joint

By kingcong |

My friends and I go here whenever we get a chance. The brisket is amazing, the portions are huge and the sides are delicious.

If you like BBQ then you love this place

By Jimz12345 |

not your average BBQ joint. The food is served on a big platter and is to be shared by your group.. Wait staff is friendly and professional. Parking can be a pain so i recommend using the valet service

Not worth your time or money!!!

By FromDCA |

After seeing this establishment on Diner Drive-in and Dives, we wanted to try this place. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!! The brisket had no seasoning and the greens tasted like they came out the can. Please, Please don’t waste your time or money.

Good food !

By AlexandraFlo |

I’m not going to lie it was nothing special compared the BBQ food we get back in London but it was good. Luckily we didn’t have to wait for a table but nobody did and that was on a Saturday. Came here after 2 Lyft drivers recommended it too us. But I’m not sure it was the hype.

Great staff & Food

By Rachel H |

Was travelling solo; made to feel really welcome. Heard it was a good spot to watch TNF. Staff were friendly and funny and felt they really looked after me. Food was superb. Tried several of the sides with some pulled pork; but the best were the fries and BBQ sauce! Amazing!

Ridiculously good

By Ville K |

Went on the 4th of July and there was a quite a long line but it was totally worth it. Brisket and ribs were out of this world (pulled pork as good as it ever gets, so OK) and the drinks - especially the agua Fresca - were really delicious. Make sure to be hungry when you visit!

Great BBQ

By TravelingRoger |

Picked up from here over the weekend and found it to be very enjoyable - I'll definitely be back. We had the following meats: hot link (good), pork ribs (fantastic), pulled pork (great) and brisket (OK - good flavor but quite fatty, so if you're OK with that, you'll probably be happy). The ribs were definitely the highlight and I loved the pulled pork as well. In terms of sides, I was a bit less enthused. We tried the mac & cheese, coleslaw, and cornbread, all of which were pretty good. To be honest, the meats alone do the trick here, so I will definitely be returning. So far, my favorite BBQ in LA!

Excellent BBQ, best potato salad

By Wanderlust_Bee |

This is family style service. We share 1/2 rack ribs, potato salad, corn bread (1 pc each), green salad & pickles. Ribs were tender & tasty and came with 2 sauces. Potato salad is the best I’ve had since my mom departed earth. Everything was excellent. Parking was a little tough but worth the trouble. Great atmosphere, food and service.

I LOVE RIBS!

By David L |

I travel around the country helping clients buy real estate and in every City I visit I find a place to eat ribs. I live in Los Angeles and have my choice of a few places that I enjoy for ribs. Bludso's is one of them! Very meaty, dry rub, great taste! And when I finish a bone there is nothing left on them!

Barbilicious

By Panic41 |

Recommended here by our Uber driver. Good mixture of couples and families and a good atmosphere, loud but not overpowering. Our server explained the options and made recommendations on portion size and most popular meat choices. Food arrived quickly on a sharing platter and we were checked on several times that we had everything we needed. We shared a chocolate chess pie which was really good. Overall everyone was satisfied with food and service.

First time

By FrenchFryQueen |

My family has been raving about the food here, and they did not disappoint! So much food, I ate myself into a satisfied food coma! Mac and Cheese, greens and ribs were my favorite. And watched as my son tore into the banana pudding for dessert. $8 valet service, and noise level is a little bit overwhelming for the baby boomer generation, but definitely a cool hang out spot for millennials!

Placed a large order to go and it was AWESOME

By Ira G |

This is awesome BBQ. We ordered 2 trays to go for a party. There was so much food that we invited people over the next night to finish it off.

By Wombling_Free_7548 |

There were 6 of us so we paid $120 for the meat and sides combo for 6 people. It was delicious - especially the chicken and cornbread. Huge portions so plenty of food to take home. Quite tricky to park on the street before 7pm as lots of parking restrictions.

By Annette P |

Great atmosphere, tons of TV screens, great for big groups, family and kids. The food is just amazing - down to the mac and cheese. Who knew? The brisket, chicken, ribs, turkey, salad, drinks everything was a m a z i n g Highly recommend this restaurant. agree that potato salad, coleslaw and even cornbread need work. but don't let that stop you from going to ear there. Great garden salad with amazing dressing too Love this place

A pleasure

By Persian Gulf |

Seen driving by, then checked over the net, in the evening we had to wait about 1 hour and then we only got a table. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, answered all questions and we enjoyed the food. We got a plate of several pieces of meat, it was so delicious and tender. It's worth waiting for an hour. I'll definitely stop by again on my next visit to LA.

Southern BBQ on the west coast!

By Luv2dryv |

We stopped here while hanging with friends in LA. I had the ribs tips with typical southern sides and cornbread. Every thing was excellent as I expected. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I guess the most remarkable thing was that this place really captures the essence of southern smoked food....in the heart of Los Angeles! Definitely a must visit when in the area.

Great BBQ

By StayClassySanDiego |

Ordered Takeout, but inside ambiance is definitely family style benches, which makes indulging into sharing different dishes a must. Ordered the half-rack pork ribs and half-chicken and they were definitely melt in your mouth, with the bbq sauce complementing the courses very solidly. Definitely will return for my next hankering for BBQ.

Great BBQ pit stop

By A&E |

One word - DELICIOUS! stopped by after walking past; we weren’t disappointed. Not our normal kind of food, but one we enjoyed thoroughly. The brisket was the star of the show.

Great BBQ food and atmosphere

By boglin_sue |

We visited as a group of four and shared a selection of meats and sides. It was all very flavoursome. We also enjoyed sampling the beers and even a tiki cocktail. Great atmosphere with families and friends out enjoying themselves and/or watching sport on TV.

The hype is WAY better than the food

By TouringSM |

We were so looking forward to going to Bludso's this past Saturday night (around 7pm on 1/13) based on previous reviews but found the food and the experience very mediocre. We ordered a full rack of pork ribs which did not have all the fat rendered out, so they didn't fall off the bone and had little flavor except for some spice rub on the meat. We also ordered the "lean" brisket which was a huge mistake because "lean" means REALLY dry meat at this restaurant. We also ordered a pint of potato salad and a pint of collard greens which were the best part of the meal. Still, when you spend over $50 on meat alone, you hope to get something better than average. The food here is average and we won't be going back. The place is busy. We were there watching the Patriot's game. Our server took our order, then someone else brought the food. We waited and waited for someone to come back so we could get more BBQ sauce for the ribs and dry brisket but that never happened. We finally gave up and waited for the check and had to put our arm out and stop our waitress so she would acknowledge us again. I really didn't want to tip, but my husband suggested 10% so thats what we left. We usually do 20% on the bill for good service but we didn't get that here either.

Delicious BBQ in the West!

By CastOff12 |

the pulled pork was fantastic…1/2 pound is a LOT! comes with two choices of sauce on the side and the coleslaw is the best I've had at any BBQ joint!

Southern Q At Its Best

By mikesesq |

Tried an assortment of BBQ at this restaurant, and was really happy across the board. Pork ribs were exceedingly meaty, and the dry rub was outstanding. Rib tips had extra pepper for a nice kick. Pulled pork was also delicious. Baked beans & potato salad were great side dishes. Not cheap, but good portions. Will return.

Great Barbecue

By Jeane141 |

We wanted some barbecue and decided to get it here since we haven’t been here since the pandemic. The food is still good and the service for takeout is great! We didn’t have to wait for our order and ordering it online was simple and easy. Parking is at a premium.

So good. So much food.

By Joanne L |

We ordered a half rack of ribs snd 1/2 lb lean brisket. It was absolutely scrumptious and way too much food for just 2. Their online ordering system is easy to use and food was ready in 1/2 hour.

Great atmosphere, shame about the smoke...

By LDN_2009 |

Let me just clarify the smoke is question is on the food and not from cigarettes! Bludso's is located in a trendy part of town and it's dining room lives up; dark, loud and bustling, it's very cool. On the whole the food was very well cooked (my wife thought it was excellent) but, for me, the meat had been far to over-smoked and it left me feeling pretty nauseous. I don't know if there are un-smoked meats on the menu or you can ask for less well-smoked cuts but, as it's served, it was just too overpowering for me to enjoy. Great cocktails.

Disaster!

By Benebrus |

A disaster !!! They bring you the menu to choose and at the end they tell you that they have nothing. Very unorganized waitresses and let's say that if you are a tourist they give you some of what is left in the kitchen!

Tasty

By sunlover |

Really delicious BBQ. My friend and I ordered a huge pile o meat and it was fabulous. We shared the ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and a link along with the mac & cheese, potato salad & collard greens. So much food but it was all amazing.

Bar-Be-Que you beauty

By raymondpearce83 |

A birthday celebration with family; no better place to enjoy good food and plenty of it; and good company. The waiting staff were excellent and made the night the way that we all wanted. We had not been here before but our company had all been before and enjoyed it previously - they knew it was the right place for the night and they were correct

Pretty Good BBQ in LA

By robbyg346 |

Was a bit disappointed as I had read great reviews about Bludso's in advance, guess my expectations were just too high comparing it to BBQ from the South. The brisket seemed a bit bland by itself, definitely needed some BBQ sauce. Highly suggest getting the lean cut, even the lean cut had fat on top so can only imagine how much was on the regular cut. The Mac & cheese was good except it was overly seasoned with pepper, would have been great with less. The best part of the meal was the peach cobbler for dessert - definitely recommend it. Important to note that there are only like 2 tables outside, so for dinner assume you will have to eat inside as they are generally busy.

Used to love this place

By blackhatnbeard |

45 minutes to get food- used to be fast and good. Now, slow and they run out of what you really wanted. To rounds through s parking meter while we waited. “Sorry lots of to go orders” mean inhouse eaters arent a priority. Also, sitting that long means you start to smell the bathroom... yuck

Great bar-be-que

By Jeane141 |

Located in Compton, if you didn't smell the smoke you would drive right past it. A hole in the wall place with a 5 star taste! I was recommended to try this bar-be-que and I have been recommending it ever since. The beef brisket melts in your mouth and is the best tender choice of meat that I have had in a long time. Ribs, rib tips, chicken sausage, etc. along with the sides I can't say anything negative about them. It is all so good and tasty. They catered my family reunion and everyone raved about the food!

Who knew, good BBQ outside of Texas in LA?

By Mauna2011 |

Coming from Dallas, where there are good and great BBQ, it was good to find great BBQ here in Los Angeles. Meats are tasty, the dry rub flavorful with a kick and the sauces are as good as we get in TX. Well done!

Great Pork Ribs

By elainetravels |

I'd wanted to try Bludso's since they opened three years ago in Hollywood, but trying to find the time to drive to Hollywood on one of the week-end nights when they had their beef short ribs was too much of a challenge. I ordered the BBQ Beef Short Ribs, only offered on the Thursday-Monday dinner menu, a half rack of four for $20, and a half rack of the pork ribs for $16 to go. There were two containers of BBQ sauce, one spicy and one mild, and even though I usually like spicy, I combined the two :) with a side of collard greens $8 for a pint, and a piece of cornbread for $1.75. Even though I had waited until a week-end night just to get the beef short ribs, I preferred the pork ribs. The amount of black pepper rub on the beef ribs overwhelmed the meat. Although tender and smoky, the beef short ribs needed the spicy sweet BBQ sauce to enhance the flavor, but I could (and did) eat the pork ribs without any sauce. They could stand by themselves on texture of the meat (not falling off the bone, but easily taken off with a bite), and the rub and smoke both married to the meat in a happy combination. I was grateful that the collard greens were not cooked to death, and that they still retained some vibrancy along with their rich pork infused flavor. The cornbread was classically and simply made, instantly perked up with some honey or butter; they provided a container of "honey butter" but I preferred using my own. I'd like to go back to try the beef brisket and pulled pork, but now that I'm back in the land of BBQ, it will be awhile before I to go back to one I've already tried when there are so many other choices.

One of the best Que joints in the US no kudding

By Daniel W |

This place is dressed a bit nicer than some BBQ joints cause we are in LA, but don’t be fooled - this is the real deal smoked Texas BBQ at a totally reasonable price in cool diggs. The smoker goes all night long and they serve what’s there- when something runs out for the day that’s it till the next hand done batch and the brisket is just crazy Everything is done right here and it’s not pretentious either - just go - you will not be disappointed - I love this place

Just ok

By dasmarek |

I went there with a couple of friends on a Monday night, It is a BBQ place with a feel of a sports bar for carnivores (almost no veggies on the menu besides the collard greens). The portions were generous both in terms of meats and side dishes and reasonable price-wise. The servers were very friendly and attentive. But only one bathroom stall for men and women each which for the size of the place can cause some problems. However, the whole experience was nothing to write home about. It was just ok, and "just ok" does not make me want to go back.

Best Barbque in the LA!!!!!

By LissaGK |

Within 1 block of Bludsos on La Brea, you begin to smell the smokiness of the brisket. Their brisket is "life altering" or simply a "religious experience". It's what BBQ dreams are made of. YOU MUST TRY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just, excellent!

By Nkem O |

Excellent, we enjoyed every aspect of this meal. One of the best BBQ spots I’ve ever been to. The ribs were perfect, smoked to perfection.

Best bar b q in LA

Loved it all. The brisket is the best, the ribs are good, the chicken is delicious. Great service, comfortable. I recommend.

The best BBQ I have ever eaten

By Megan T |

My parents live in the Southern US so I have long enjoyed visiting them and getting southern BBQ when I visit them. Flash forward to a trip to LA and we saw an episode of Triple D while we were in LA and Guy was highlighting local LA Eats, including Bludso’s. My partner’s cousin swore by it too, so we headed out for a late lunch. And wow! We are hooked! These guys are doing it right! The beef brisket was fantastic with a great smoke ring, the pulled pork was so good my partner needed a few minutes to savour before he says “ this is the best BBQ I’ve ever eaten!”. The potato salad was so freaking good, as was the cornbread. They even serve Cheerwine which guarantees a vote from me. But the desserts were phenomenal too! Mexican lime pie and chocolate chess pie! The chess pie was fresh out of the oven and so good. To find such good BBQ and Cheerwine as well as chocolate chess pie, was a bit of a surprise but never doubt Bludso’s, these guys know BBQ!

Good bbq

By Twatsadel |

Good bbq Service good and fast . Ribs are great. It’s not the cheapest especially the sides but nice Nothing but compliments I’d recommend.

Wow there is a new king in town

By lbizarre |

I've had BBQ across the US and I tasted some great stuff in Tennessee and Texas. But this place is nothing short of spectacular. The meat requires no BBQ sauce (although that is great too). Smoky, tender all that you expect. The weakest meat we had was the chicken which was a quite dry. The brisket should be a compulsory order and really earned that wow factor. The atmosphere is great. While parking is a little tough the is a valet outside. Go now. No reservations so no excuses!

Brilliant Pork Ribs

By Masked-Caper |

This is one of my fav places to get pork ribs. They take very good care in preparation and the chicken and corn bread is very good too. If you like barbecue pork ribs, this is the place.

Good BBQ and cocktails in L.A.

By brittshotts |

I'm a southern girl. I've had BBQ in Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, and Kentucky, and I've got a pretty discerning palette for the stuff at this point. Bludsos BBQ is GOOD, y'all. My friend and I came here for dinner last month, and ordered heaping portions of brisket, pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, and mac 'n' cheese. I wasn't let down by any of it, and that includes the boozy slushie cocktail I sipped throughout the meal. Our server was attentive (and hilarious) and didn't steer us wrong when it came to ordering portions. I had a little left over at the end of dinner, which he boxed up for me with a smile. Can't wait to return and stuff my face again!

You have to love smoked food

By Been a few places |

Came for a late lunch over a holiday weekend and despite this, the restuarant was busy. We ordered a variety of meat options off the menu (pork, beef and chicken) as well as fries. My husband loved the brisket and ribs and said it was the second best barbecue he'd had in the US. I thought the chicken burger would be a relatively safe option as I dislike smoked food. However, unlike most barbecue restuarants I've been to, the chicken burger was also heavily smoked and I didn't enjoy it. The fries were actually really good and saved my meal, along with a couple of ribs which were way less smoky. Staff were chatty and the restuarant had a laid back vibe. If you love barbecue you'll love this place.

Great for a group!

By Allison L |

Went here with a large group of friends. Ordered one of the combo meals and got SO much food - great for sharing. Everything was delicious. Brisket was the best meat. All the sides were excellent!

Great BBQ!

By Chris F |

We saw the original on DDD and discovered there was another location on LeBrae, perfect timing during our visit to LA. We liked how everything was served family style. We had chicken, pork, and ribs. All were excellent! Try it!

Best Brisket

By Linda R |

This is real Texas bbq. The restaurant has a nice casual vibe, wooden tables with benches and TVs everywhere with various sports on. You order your meat and side orders by the pound or whatever size you would like for your table. We ordered beef ribs, pork ribs, brisket, and hot links. The brisket was the best. For side orders, we had collards, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, corn bread, and coleslaw. The mac and cheese is made with real cheese, not creamy goo. The collards and hot links are delicious, but spicy.

Pretty Good BBQ

By Polaroids & Drinkin Stories |

Came here for late lunch one weekday. Metered street parking. Place was crowded but plenty of tables available inside and outside. Has a sports bar vibe in a way with TVs playing kind of loud. Waiter was OK, a bit inattentive. They serve everything family style so you can share. They also sell the meats by the pound. We got some brisket, ribs, cornbread, collard greens and cole slaw. They stock Cheerwine which is a plus. Food came out very fast. Meats were good. The rub was tasty on the brisket which was very moist. Little disappointing if you wanted bread or pickles there was a charge. Some should come with the meal and if you want extra charge for that. Oh well. Like most BBQ places the prices were up there. Total meal was $80 plus tip. The BBQ was good but I don't know that I would rush back.

One of a few good Barbecue restaurants in the City of Los Angeles.

By George700East |

The restaurant is located on north La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles. There is meter parking in front of the restaurant on both sides of the street. The front door is wide and the floor is level. Wheelchairs and walkers can easily navigate the way around the interior. The menu is extensive with beef, pork and chicken dishes. The cornbread is very good. All dishes served were good. There is a children’s menu. There is a full bar and bartender. The prices are reasonable. There is a separate dessert menu.

Wayne’s 53rd Birthday

By Joyce S |

We visited LA for my boyfriend’s 53 birthday, and was looking for a good bbq joint to try out. OMGGGG...The Food Was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I’m a BBQ Enthusiast, Therefore I tend to be Quite Critical when it comes to rating bbq joints! My group had the Ribs, Chicken, Collard Greens, Potato Salad, Macaroni & Cheese, and Cornbread. The flavor, and the tenderness of the meats isl Really what good bbq is all about! The ordering process was a little difficult to understand, but our hostess Melanie, walked us thru it with ease! I can’t say enough about this place, other than you have to try it for yourself! I Promise you, you Won’t be disappointed!!

PLEASANT DISCOVERY

By Fabio S |

I was in this place at the end of April! I would say a nice discovery! Let's start with the ultra friendly staff and an extra compliment to the girl who served us, she was fantastic, she helped us choose the dishes and gave us excellent advice! The dishes were very good, we tried the ribs and the sausage and the half chicken! Everything really great! Perfect cooking typical Texan style! Well done! Small criticism but due to personal taste, the sauces accompanying the meat had little taste, in my opinion they can be improved!! Finally, for dessert I had the banana pudding and I must say very good even though I have eaten better ones! The bill is average! Overall super recommended as a place, if I ever return to LA I will definitely go back!

Beef short ribs

By FoodSeekerx |

As a fanatic of bbq beef short ribs, I have tasted three different varieties from Wood Ranch bbq and Grill, Baby Blues bbq, and Bludso's bbq. Wood Ranch's beef short ribs has the most tender, moist ones, with each bites burstling with beefy umami flavor. Moreover, the short ribs is top quality meat since great spread out of marbling in between the muscles can be seen. One bad thing about it is the bbq sauce is quite sweet and the meat is not smokey enough. Baby Blues's bbq beef short ribs is tender and moist. It falls short from Wood Ranch's ones because the marbling is not evenly spread out on the beef. Bludso's ones has the most smokey and heavily spiced short ribs. It is tender but not as moist as the other two. However, the natural sweetness of beef short ribs is shaded by the heavily used of spices and it was too salty! The attached photos is the beef short ribs from Wood Ranch, Baby Blues, and Bludso in sequence. All in all, Wood Ranch has the best bbq beef short ribs.

Very good

By António VB |

I went to this because of numerous recommendations and Jonathan's Gold 101 best. It was very good and the staff very nice. It's a very good bbq but I expected more. I just had my expectations too high but I will return.

Wow! Best BBQ

By Crow's Nest Cycle |

Big Kev knows BBQ! This place has awesome food. From ribs to beans. Everything we tasted was spectacular. Even the chip pickles were incredible. Lots and lots of napkins. The BBQ sauce comes mild or hot. I cant thank them enough for this great BBQ experience in LA.

Terrific!!!!

By Scott Crawford |

OMG! Delicous! The ribs!!! The Brisket!!! For the first time in my life, I didn't put BBQ sauce on the ribs because they were so great. Greens, mac and cheese, cornbread really terrific. They make their own pickles- so worth it. And then to top it off, the best peach cobbler! Lovely staff and decor. My only flaw was the size of the sides could have been larger.

Amazing Texas BBQ

By Shaggylom |

Came here for a mates birthday. We ordered a few of the platters. this is some of the best BBQ I've had in a long time. We all ate a ton and yet never felt stuffed. It wasn't greasy, and they put the BBQ sauce on the side rather than covering the food in it. Highly Recommend.

Still Great

By Stan W |

We visit Bludsos on every visit, they have something for everyone in my family (even the vegetarian daughter). Mac N Cheese is done the ole style way, the meats are well flavored and cooked to perfection. I would say the prices are fair, given we are in Los Angeles; the servers all have a good idea of the menu and provide useful suggestions when needed.

JACK SPRAT COULD EAT NO FAT...

By Karl E |

I went to BLUDSOS for lunch for the first time. While it was a sunny California day outside, the inside of this casual restaurant was dim and lit with very low lighting. While some may prefer this type of lighting, I do not. I like to be able to read the menu and see my food. Maybe at night, for dinner, the room is brighter. Don't know. I ordered a BRISKET SANDWICH with sides of COLLARD GREENS and BAKED BEANS. The food came on a tray lined with wax paper, not a plate. The sandwich was on a very soft "hamburger roll placed on the paper. The sides were in small ceramic or plastic containers, also on the paper. Not very appetizing for my tastes. It felt like a self-serve tray in a cafeteria, not a restaurant that charged $11.00 for the soft small sandwich and two small sides. Finally, when I bit into the BRISKET SANDWICH, I was surprised to get a mouthful of fat. I opened the sandwich and looked at it and it was more fat than meat. I tried to separate the fat from the meat and lost at least half the volume of the sandwich. When the waiter, Jose, came over to ask, "How is everything?" I showed him my plate piled with fat and told him, "This is the fattiest brisket I've ever eaten!" He showed me the menu, which was hard to see clearly in the dim light (see first paragraph) and pointed out that there was an option of "lean brisket" for $1.00 more---$12.00 for the sandwich and sides. I shrugged and told him I didn't see that choice and he offered to bring me a "lean" sandwich at no charge, which he did and which I appreciated. I thanked him for his consideration. Since I was full, having eaten a considerable amount of fat...and the two sides, I took the second sandwich home and enjoyed it for dinner. It was lean and tasty, as were the two sides I had eaten at the restaurant. Thank you Jose for being a thoughtful waiter. However, the restaurant environment, the food presentation and the lack of any "special" BBQ quality will prevent me from eating there for lunch again. There are many better choices for BBQ in LA. and better restaurants in that area on LaBrea Avenue.

Great BBQ!!!!!

By tabigasuki08 |

We ordered the ribs, some pulled pork, some brisket, and some collard greens. Wow!! The collard greens are delicious and they have a slight kick to them. I loved the pulled pork and the brisket. Their BBQ sauce is amazing, but the hot is really hot. I liked the ribs, but they weren't my favorite. A little too smoky for me, but my son thought they were fantastic. Service was great too. Will definitely go back!

Sucks. Dry and dead

By John N |

The chicken look like it’s been dead for 14 years. The ribs look like they were under the heat lamp for 17 years the brisket look like it was spoiled. It wasn’t worth the money I spent this place is a piece of crap honest to God I’m from Florida I’ve had barbecue in Texas Had barbecue in Memphis. I’ve had barbecue everywhere and I could’ve never had barbecue in LA. That’s any good it’s always bad. It makes me so mad that I order barbecue late at night and they put all their heat lamps. Dead carcass crap in my order that’s no way to treat anybody it was disgusting I will never order from this place again ever will I ever order from this place again and I will copy and paste this everywhere.

Great BBQ.

By Suzanne |

Wow! Great lunch stop . Many BBQ meats to select from on the menu. The brisket was flavorful and very tender and juicy . The pulled pork was nicely pulled and served with choice of two sauces . I had the mild and it was perfect . They offer US southern sides and desserts too . Peach cobbler and Banana pudding. Macaroni and Cheese very good. Full bar and lots of beers selections . Parking metered in front.

BBQ Fix

By David S |

We have walked by Bludsos on many occasions but never stopped. After visiting my sister and brother in law in Austin and experiencing great BBQ we thought is was about time we tried this Texas transplant and his BBQ. Well, it was as good if not better then the Austin places we tried. Now for the bad news. It is a bit on the expensive side but worth an occasional visit. We will go back when we need our BBQ fix!

Eat here

By Terry G |

The manager and cashier were very friendly, server not so much. Brisket was tasty, but I'd recommend the lean brisket. Bar B Q sauce was awesome. The baked beans were very spicy, but excellent. Food and drink prices were competitive. Given a chilled glass for the canned beer. Try to find a parking spot in the neighborhood to avoid paying for parking.

Meat to die for

By David V |

This is a simple restaurant. Very simple. You get meat and loads of it. But it's so very very good. If you love bbq meat, just come here. You will leave happy.

Non-Traditional Christmas!

By riskmann |

Away from home, but with the entire family, we decided on BBQ take away for Christmas dinner. The food was delicious, however our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and there was plenty of leftovers. Would like to try this on site, so will likely visit at the next opportunity!

Excellent Texas-style BBQ

By James S |

Finally got a chance to try this place, so I brought the family to check it out. Ordered a broad sampler - brisket (tender, juicy, nice smoke ring), ribs (also great & not the boil & grill variety - real smoked ribs), hot links (boldly spicy as it should), Mac & cheese (creamy & not too heavy), Coke slaw (fresh & crunchy), collard greens (very flavorful, especially when doused with the chili vinegar) and corn breads were ALL excellent, not a missed note in the bunch. The desserts of banana pudding, peach crisp & chocolate chess pie were also good. Highly recommend!!!

Great BBQ!

This was by far one of the best meals I have had at a BBQ place. The pulled pork was awesome, and so were the rib tips (very smoky)! And I am usually not a rib person. The cornbread was great, but the mac and cheese could have been better.

Texas BBQ in LA? Who'd of Thunk?

By Filmprof |

Had lunch with a friend here and was really blown away. I lived in Texas for several years back in "the good old days." That was the best -- Taylor, Lockhart, you name it. But Bludsos really reminded me of those spots Went on a Tuesday for lunch with a friend. I had a brisket and hot link sandwich with two sides -- collards and coleslaw. The sides were fine, if not over-the-top. However, the sandwich was over the moon. The brisket was perfectly cut, super-smokey and tender. The link slices were ideal. This $17 "special" was great. Add to that the Tuesday tropical drink special (a satisfying $8 Hurricane) and you come up with one of the best lunches I've had in years. Service was fine and the vibe was chill. Give it a try.

Good bbq with high prices

By iris B |

We ate at Bludso's today and enjoyed the food but not the prices. I had the ribs and my husband had the brisket. The bbq was tasty but the prices are too high for what you get. Our bill was $35 for 1/2 slab of pork ribs (5 ribs), 1/4 lb. of brisket (3 slices), a med. cole slaw, and a med. baked beans-no drinks. The size of the medium sides were really small and tasted just ok. We probably won't go back.

Finally!

I am from Texas and trying to locate succulent lean brisket outside the Lone Star state has been a challenge! We saw Bludso's from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and knew we had to check it out when we were in LA. We ordered a tray to sample all the meats and sides. Bludos did not disappoint! Everything was A+ and the service was terrific. Highly, highly recommend stopping for a bite!

Dinner stop

By Raf |

After catching a flick at the ArcLight, we decided to grab some dinner and this place didn't dissapoint! Food - 5 out of 5. Small mishap with them giving us the super spicy sauce on the side instead of the mild. Biggest takeaway for me, as this was my first time was to get a little of everything. Served family style, be prepared to taste this BBQ's awesome dry rub and the great smokiness of the meats. I was blown away. The sides were very good also with the star being the savory corn bread served with a delicious honey butter on the side. Service - 4 out of 5. Fast and friendly, but a small hot sauce mishap. Price - 4 out of 5. Prices are on par with every other restaurant in the area. Parking - 3 out of 5. Valet parking is available or street metered parking that can be tough to find. Overall, my new favorite BBQ place when visiting LA, a great find!

Best BBQ in LA

By Sandra S |

I lived in Texas for years and I like this better! Shhh. The meats are amazing! Worth it for that alone. I love the dry rub on the ribs. It's insanely delicious. My only complaint is that I wish there were more options on the side. Especially a salad which I know is sooo inappropriate but I'd like to come here and eat more than meat and carbs. Wait- that's what I come here for.

Bludso's, One of the best secrets of West Hollywood!, Finest ribs in L.A.

By AdrianaJoh14 |

A great surprise for locals and tourists as well, definitely a must in West Hollywood and one of the best price value restaurants in L.A. We spend my birthday having the best ribs and barbecue I've to have at a restaurant. They slow cook their meat for 14 hours, so you may not find brisket for brunch if you arrive too late. They have some tables outside at La Brea so you can spend a nice sunny Sunday enjoying the local West Hollywood atmosphere and having an amazing meal for Avg. $ 30- $ 40 per person.

Fabulous smoked BBQ food at great prices

By Paul L |

We visited after recommendations and we're not disappointed. Food choices excellent with sides to match. Mac and cheese was super. For 6 of us we left full with flavours still strong in our mouth. Not might look anything from the outside but the food and services certainly makes up for that.

Local BBQ joint with Texan roots

By Shanelle |

I saw the Compton location featured on an episode of Triple D, so it made me eager to check this place out. They’re currently open for curbside delivery, pickup, and takeout. Note that you have to order ahead online and cannot do so in-person. Take note of the last four digits of your order number, and when it’s pickup time, go inside and provide your number to one of the staff members. Utensils, napkins, and wet napkins were available on the left hand side. The food is delicious. We got a half rack of pork ribs (5 ribs), a quarter pound of pulled pork, and a side of mac and cheese after a Runyon hike, and we were satisfied. Parking is metered along Melrose but if you go into some of the neighborhoods, you might get lucky and find a free spot. The pork ribs were so flavorful, with just the right amount of seasoning. The bark of the ribs honestly didn’t need any bbq sauce, and the meat was fall off the bone tender. The pulled pork was similarly soft and juicy, and I liked the hot bbq (you can pick mild or hot), although there’s no real heat. The mac and cheese is good, but nothing special for $6.50 for a small serving. Overall, it’s a good place to satisfy any bbq cravings you may be having in LA.

Delicious BBQ

If meat is your thing, especially the barbecued kind, Bludsos will not disappoint. The brisket is amazingly tender, juicy and flavorful. But all the selections are superb. Full bar too. Satisfaction guaranteed.....

Excellent southern BBQ in LA!

By MKA7488 |

Met up some friends here to catch a football game, and find out how good this BBQ place is. Did some homework, and read that it was Texas style and born, so I was excited to try it. Coming from Florida, where BBQ is at every corner and very abundant, I was curious to see how good the barbeque was. It was spot on! We ordered the chicken, brisket, and hot links and were all perfect in taste and tenderness. Along with the meat we ordered cornbread, collard greens, bbq beans, mac and cheese, and potato salad. All the sides were just as good. The potato salad was a little bit light, and not what I'm used to, but still good. Service was fast, friendly, and would definitely go back there when I'm in Los Angeles again.

Good barbeque in mid city west

By paulajeand |

South central barbeque on the Westside. Ribs, pulled pork and chicken are very good. But the standout is the brisket. It is tender and delicious. Two kinds of sauce, hot and mild. Reasonable pricing for good quality meats. Great for take-out.

amazing BBQ, super fast

It was recommended to me, and it is my No 1 choice for BBQ in LA. Portions are big, food is perfect.

Yummiest ribs n pulled pork

I’m a sucker for good ribs and these , are by far some of the best ribs and pulled pork I have had ! I chanced upon this place and took a special trip to this place before I left town , just to get a last taste of them ribs !

Great BBQ

By Swannifer |

We had a lovely BBQ plate, they serve it 'family style' (in the middle to pick what you want), the server explained roughly how much we should order, so we got brisket, pork, and a sausage. I do wish we would have ordered the lean brisket for $1 extra as it was a bit fatty. We had beans and pickles with it. The beans were out of this world, really good and a little spicy. The setting of this place was a bit weird, it seemed to modern and sports-bar-y with loads of screens showing different sports, but you have the picnic style benches as you would expect. Price wise it was okay, not particularly cheap but doesn't break the bank either. All in all a good dinner.

Oh man, it was really awful!

By LAChuck7 |

When I arrived to see a nearly deserted dining room I worried a bit, but was meeting a friend and braved on. The waitress was pleasant and gracious, unfortunately, then she brought the dinner. The pulled pork was essentially a grease-laden pile of slop, the potato salad not at all good, and the couple pieces of cornbread were dry and burned on the edges. Whomever is in charge here truly doesn't understand the cuisine they specialize in, and certainly hasn't tasted it. I can't imagine how they're still in business. If you MUST go, be prepared to be sickened.

Some of the best BBQ food ever

By Bradshaw50 |

Nothing fancy about this place which is not a bad point just an observation. Great staff who were very friendly and helpful Small but great menu choices and something for everyone who loves meat The Buffalo Wings were the best we have had on our US trip and we ordered a second helping to go. Amazing Brisket and super tasty Pork Ribs

Bring back the staff from Compton

By n w |

I had visited bludsco BBQ twice before when it was in Compton. Guy Fieri from Diners Drvie Inn and Dives persuaded me to visit this fine establishment. The first time I got an amazing brisket sandwich with the fixings as a daily special. The second time I arrived late so they were out of the succulent brisket. I got an order of different things as it was late and they had run out of all the good stuff. Today, I found their new place in LA. It is only a block Away from Pink's. Easy to walk to from my favorite joint in LA. Unfortunately, it is now a casual dining place without the vibe from Compton. The staff are all new. None of the old timers are here. It caters to customers, who don't realize the importance of the old place. The hostess was very nice. She took my order and explained what has happened to Bludsco. It is run by others rather than the personnel who know how to prepare the dishes of old. I got the beef brisket and rib tips. They were okay but not like before. I miss the old place and the employees who ran Comptons establishment. I'm glad I had a chance to try this place, but it is not the same and I most likely will not be returning anytime soon.

Top Texas meat and Mac and Cheese

Texan meat with flavor and the best mac and cheese I've had in LA. The server was attentive and kind. I recommend you go eat at this restaurant if you are a fan of Texan meats.

Delicious brisket

By windyhabour |

We loved the brisket it was moist and could taste the wood flavour. We ordered 1 Lb which was enough for the 2 of us. The servings were good size and the side coleslaw was yummy. We happened by chance to be there at their happy hour between 5pm to 7pm good value beers on tap. The place was spacious and service efficient. Would definitely go there again.

Born in Newark, Raised in NJ on Better BBQ

By MrOcho |

This was my first time eating anything from Bludso’s BBQ which I never heard of before but since I received it as a gift, I kept an open mind. The Goldbelly order included two pounds of the pork rib tips ($27/pound) and five Texas Red Hot Beef Links ($7/link). Total dining in price = $89, however the Goldbelly price is $109. Personally, the price point for the rib tips is off the hook expensive. What I liked: - The Red Hot beef links were the clear winner. Although spicier than I expected I enjoyed them. Their density was closer to a chorizo than a traditional sausage. At $7 a link, I feel they are a fair price for their quality. What I did not like: - The pork rib ends were over salted and about 80% waste. - The small amount of meat that was there was mostly thin and dry. An outrageous cost for this product. - I was expecting a much better BBQ sauce. It confused me in what it was trying to be. I did not like it with the pork or the Red Hot beef link, nor would I have liked it with beef brisket. Personally, I make a better rib product and BBQ sauce than these TX to Compton products and I would be very confident in a brisket throw-down. Newark vs. LA, NJ vs. TX, Oh-yeah! Mr. Ocho is ready!

OMG

Hubby and I came to California to visit my son and his girlfriend. For months I had been telling him that the next time that eyes go to LA they needed to go to Bledsoe Bbq in Compton CA. I was unaware that there was another location, after having viewed it in DINERS DRIVE INS AND DIVES. Found this location which was closer. Went into restaurant and it was very nice. The tables were laid out differently than I have ever seen before. The silverware was in a couple of small buckets, which I thought was neat.. To order the food , there is a list of everything they had with boxes next to it and everybody orders off of the same list all at once. Then the food and sides are brought out on platters. The four of us ordered Brisket (to die for) pulled pork (very good) Bbq chicken (great) rib tips (very good). Sides were mac and cheese Cole slaw, baked beans. The food was TREMENDOUS.. The service was very good. IF we ever get back California again, we will definitely be going back to Bludsoes .

Frequent VISITOR

We love this BBQ place. My husband is from Texas and I am from Arkansas so it is one of our favorite comfort meals. DELICIOUS CORNBREAD!! BBQ sauce is also really good! Service is consistently good and the prices are extremely fair for the quality and quantity. Parking is easy and they have indoor and outdoor seating and TVs with sports events everywhere!

Southern Style BBQ Meats

By Beadsbb |

We stopped by quickly for lunch. Considering we arrived just before they close up for the afternoon (we only realised this after we ordered), the servers were still very attentive and friendly. My husband and I shared a lunch set meal, as the portions are bigger than what we are used to back home. The lunch between us was more than sufficient to keep us fuelled for our day exploring the shops on Melrose. The restaurant was large and I feel as though if we came later that evening, it would have had a very buzzing atmosphere. I would certainly not refrain from visiting again in the future, and possibly visiting during the evening hours.

Great Food! Great Staff!!

By Ant H |

Amazing spot and incredibly friendly and welcoming staff! The food was the best we had during our almost week long stay in LA - great portions and the staff were very helpful around recommendations and portion sizes. Highly highly recommend stopping by Bludos if you’re in and around Santa Monica!!!

Good BBQ

By Bruno D |

Good quality BBQ. Brisquet it's a winner. Too bad the portions are too small in my opinion. It wouldn't hurt to put 2 extra slices on the plate.

Delicious!

Food was so amazing, tasted delicious and at reasonable prices too! Our server was really friendly and helpful and made the experience enjoyable! Would recommend this place 10 times over!!

First BBQ experience.... Thumbs up!

By Laur |

My partner found Bludso online & as we have not had real bbq food before we wanted to try. We were not disappointed!! I had the lunch deal at $14... Brisket sandwich, 2 sides (I chose collared greens & potato salad) and a soft drink. The brisket fell apart in your mouth ... so tender! The collared greens were juicy and moist, the potatoe salad sharp and crunchy. I couldn’t have faulted it....!! My partner had brisket, pork ribs & Mac n cheese... absolutely delicious!! I would highly recommend going here for food & can honestly say the server (I didn’t catch her name, beautiful young lady with dark curls and wearing a red open shirt) was so sweet & calm.... enhanced the experience!

The Best

By Priscilla G |

Absolutely THE best BBQ I've ever had. Moist, falling off the bone, heavy smoked flavor. It was delicious. We had the ribs and brisket, but the small and over priced sides prevent me from giving it a perfect score. Parking difficult, valet $8. Served family style. You won't be disappointed. Not a fancy place but you go for the Best BBQ in Los Angeles and Orange County.

Excellent BBQ in a fun, casual environment

By Duncan C |

We dropped in 20 minutes before closing and the staff were super friendly, didn't pressure us to get take out, and generally welcomed us. The place was quiet at that time, and they were out of some of their signature items like baby back ribs, but they had what we wanted (pulled pork and chicken) and so we ordered. The food was served family style and was delicious, with generous portions. The BBQ sauces were excellent and the sides were fabulous. The mac and cheese was fresh and cheesy, and the potato salad was really good, thick and not too mayonnaisey. Overall I give this an excellent rating and recommend it highly.
