They are also a restaurant, but they do brew their own beer! I had the close encounter sour and it was really good! Classic sour with a nice touch of peach. One of my friends got the raspberry sour and the raspberry in it was perfect. The service was also awesome! It really made the experience here. They were very accommodating and there were a couple annoying drunk men that were bothering us and the staff got rid of them promptly because they noticed our discomfort. They continued to apologize for their antics the rest of the evening and made sure we were satisfied.

Nice stop for a quick beer. No wine or alcohol served. We had a good appetizer - a variation of nachos.

Met up with some friends here recently and really enjoyed the old brewery atmosphere. The sangria was really great and the Fried Mushrooms were some of the biggest I have ever seen or eaten in my life! Service was outstanding! Would like one back and try more menu items!

Review for beer only; didn't try the food. That being said, they had TWO sour beers on draft, which, as a sour beer lover, is awesome. I tried both, and even got a good recommendation from the bartender in terms of which to try first. The beers are advertised as organic, if that matters to you. They have cask beer, which is always interesting, and something like 12 on tap (some with nitro!), so have at 'er. Bar room seems ample enough, and there's outdoor seating for nice weather sud sipping.

This is a great find in San Antonio and not far off the main drag. We took the bus from downtown/convention centre right to the brewery. It was easy and only one bus (#11). The beers are great (the IPA is awesome) or you can get a flight and taste them all. The food was excellent, I recommend the jalapeño poppers. Go and visit this lovely brewery!

We stopped in for some beer and dessert. They have some delicious homemade pies and cakes. Beer was pretty good too.

We went at night for dinner. We decided to eat outside, they said go and sit anywhere and they will bring us menus. That was about 40min later. Oh sorry for the wait. I got two different sodas and they both tasted wrong. No salt or pepper on the table. And they didn't ask if we needed any until after I asked another table to borrow theirs. The calamari was good but other than that, Forget it!! So disappointed!!!

My daughter and son-in-law had their rehearsal dinner here. The food was great and the outdoor atmosphere was terrific! Right by the river made it extra special!!

Love this place! The food is always great, brew is great, and the atmosphere is awesome. If you like craft beer, their selection is great!! We always eat here after our bike route along the river.

Went twice for the ales and the food, which was traditional, but rather tasty. The Pork Pie is a unique dish, while the sandwiches (brisket) are all done there. Service for us was congenial and efficient. The ales are wonderful (though the Flying Pig might be a bit sweet for some).

Chicken wings tasted old... Not fresh. Burger tasted stale and warmed up not freshly fried. French fries we're soaking grease, but tasted dried.

I loved this out-or-the -way brewhouse. If you don't know it's there you would never find it by just riding by. excellent beer and excellent food! Been a while since I was there.

Food and beer were awesome, great selection. The pork pig pie was a unique dish, couldn't even eat all of the half portion. Great flavor and quality of food. Service was excellent as well. Highly recommend.

The beer was not cold. Had the German plate and it was bad. The saur kraut was more like boiled cabbage covered in grease. The bratwurst was greasy. The German potato salad was not like anything I have ever had. German potato salad usually has bits of bacon but this travesty had just had cubes of fat with potatoes smothered in grease. The waiter was inattentive and never came back to check if the meal was ok until asking if we were ready for the bill.

Took a 2 1/2 hour bike trip along the river, so we felt entitled to a few fun appetizers. Highly recommend the Black Bean Nachos with added Beef Brisket and the Cheese Dip with big soft pretzel rolls. But our favorite was the Pig Wings -- pork ribs with a spicy sweet berry sauce. Absolutely awesome. Great day to sit outdoors on the patio -- nice quiet area during mid-day.

Had a great lunch at the Blue Star Brewery. The beer was terrific... there was something for everyone. I personally loved the Texican brew... it was so great I brought some home, just ran next door to their store and bought the bottle, and they filled it right up! The food was good, fish tacos were very nice, the hubby had the chicken and biscuits... it was sort of a deconstructed pot pie, he loved it. I will grab some beer loving friends and be back :) Oh... I forgot... the service was fast and courteous.

My friend and I had just completed a 10 mile bike ride along the SanAntonio River; we were HUNGRY. Soup and Sandwich quenched with locally brewed beer was VERY satisfying. We both enjoyed the turkey sandwich - turkey baked on the premises (not lunch meat). The potato soup was topped with cheese - AWESOME. Perfect weather invited us to the outside patio. Interesting to view the brewing vats inside while deciding what to order.

This was our first time trying this place out. They make a variety of beer and food. Just as an FYI--this place practically serves organic food and drinks. They do not have soft drinks- they offer beer, water, non-sweet tea, and sparkling water. Appetizer: Fried mushrooms: this was a huge serving. Normally places give you like 5-6 mushrooms, but we got like 20 of them. And they were massive and delicious. I highly recommend it. Entree: Blue Brewery Burger and he added bacon to it. He said it was by far one of the best burgers he has ever had. The patty was made not frozen; the lettuce was green and not store bought, the fries were hand cut and delicious. I had the Southwest Salad. It was so fresh. It was not covered in dressing, yet it had enough flavor. There was a hint of spice which I loved. The tortilla chips were freshly made and toasted. No complaints- It was delicious. Service/Appearance: No complaints on the service. We had a great young server. The place had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They have a long bar with seating. I only saw one TV, and they were showing sports. The place was clean. Spurs Fans: So if you have Spurs tickets to a game, and you eat at their location, they will bus you over to the stadium for free and bring you back. You don't have to worry about parking. I thought this was pretty neat. I recommend this place, and we are def coming back.

Stopped in for brunch. The Eggs Benedict was really good. They have an interesting take on hollandaise sauce. The burger was ok. Nothing unique, just a good burger. Their beer is solid. The Apache Amber is my favorite. Refreshing, sweet, and malty. The barleywine & stout were really good as well.

My visit to the blue star consisted of a celebration event in the banquet room. staff was very attentive great selection of beers didn’t have a chance to try their food large parking lot didn’t have a problem parking I wouldn’t hesitate about going back when I’m in San Antonio again

My husband and I decide to eat here after smelling the brisket cooking. we were not disappointed. The food was great as was the beer and it had a nice atmosphere. Best meal so far in San Antonio.

We enjoyed an evening meal outdoors on the deck. Great waitress, good food, and good beer. It was the Friday before Mother's Day.

Outside of the great beer (they brew their own) nothing truly sticks out. The location is great by the river and you can sit outside on nice days though. Otherwise, fairly typical with no truly bad or good things that stick out.

It's a brewery, but nothing outstanding. I am from the midwest and haven't found anything outstanding in texas yet.

My son-in-law chose this restaurant as he is very artistic and enjoys dining in the Blue Star area and then visiting the shops to see art, sculptures, etc. that are available. The food was good. The family enjoyed the casual atmosphere and the craft beer.

Upon arriving to our Bnb in the King William district the brewery was listed as a place to try in their guest book. It was a great choice. I'll admit I'm not a huge beer fan but their organic Brews were good. My fish n' chips and fresh made fries were also great. Fun atmosphere, good service, great food and drinks.

We were on the bike path along the river. We smelled the best smells. Since the bike path is on the backside of the restaurant, we didn't see it and if not for the good smells, we could have biked right on past. The place was packed when we went in! Service was great. Price was very reasonable. Our lunch selections were very tasty. Since we were on the bikes, we didn't have beer, so can't speak to that. We'd go back!

A very nice, quirky, eclectic place to eat. This used to be an old arts area & is now a more upscale food & drinks area. Food was good, a bit pricey for some items & all the beer is local & organic. So, if you're into organic foods high brews, this is your place.

Very nice place for lunch and a cold beer made on site. We tried two different beers and enjoyed both. The service was ok but they were very slow bringing the food out. The place was not slammed with business so no excuse for slow food. Great location in the King William neighborhood. On the Riverwalk. Food was good. Nice place for a cold beer but don't be in a hurry.

Dropped by this place by chance during Festival. I was looking for a parking spot. Very lucky to stumble upon this place. The beers were good, fresh and cold. I had the brisket tacos which were really good. I'll definitely return when I'm back in San Antonio. I do recommend trying this place out if you're in SA. The brisket is smoked on site.

We just stopped in to sample some of the organic brews. They have a good selection. We did a flight and then settled on an IPA and a stout. We ere going to have an appetizer but they were dealing with a couple of company Christmas parties and staff was very busy. Figured not a good time for food, however, the food coming out of the kitchen looked good and nobody seemed to be having a tough time eating it!

I ate here once while on vacation. I would rate this as an average restaurant. The micro brew selection was good, but the quality of the beers, in my opinion, was lacking, but it could have been a one off situation. The service was great and the food was on par for the area. The menu is pretty standard, but I particularly enjoy this location as the atmosphere is quite lively/trendy.

We've enjoyed how this area has changed for the better over the years. Now a thriving arts district anchored by the brewery. Good beer and attentive wait staff. It nicely complements the food which is good, not great.

We stopped for lunch on our way back from the National Historical Park. It was a nice stop, with good beer, good food, and friendly helpful staff. If you like micro breweries, give it a try.

The Green Tractor is a very good, hoppy beer. Had some humus and fresh, warm pita chips as a snack. Very nice stop along the River Walk on the way to the Historic Missions and Guenthers Flour Mill.

Stopped in for a drink and an app, and this place was pretty average. The beer was OK - nothing to write home about in my book, the appetizer (fried pickles) was pretty good, and the service was just average as well. Convenient if you're in the Blue Star Arts Complex, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way for it.

My wife and I had lunch here with the usual awesome service we always seem to receive here. Getting a flight of local brews and a bite is a good grown up date. We normally come in the evening when it’s busy. The food & service is top notch. Normally. We entered during a slow Saturday afternoon when the place was about 1/4 full. Our service was awesome. The food was awful. Bad. Really, really bad. Besides having fries so old that you could sing “happy birthday” to them, the burger was a hockey puck. I’m a military guy & I've had worse. I normally don’t complain. And I was pretty hungry, so I just hit sauced the burger and woofed it. During this burger fest, I bit down on a piece of raw shrimp. It must have been in the lettuce, or in the mushroom topping. But I’ve eaten enough bad ceviche to recognize raw shrimp. I was in power down the burger mode and just swallowed. Big mistake. It’s over 24 hours later and the cramping and diarrhea is still bad. I feel like I got hit by a bus. The only thing different in my diet in the last week was this burger. And I’m mad at myself for not spitting out the shrimp and asking for another burger. Bottom line. Don’t go here when it’s slow. This piece of raw shrimp mistake should never happen in a kitchen. If the kitchen & restaurant was super busy and they were getting slammed with everyone in the weeds, then the mistake might be forgivable. But the restaurant was not busy. And the negligence of the kitchen is completely unforgivable. I’m not going back to this spot. There are just too many great places that can deliver consistent high quality burgers & beers. We will go to one of those. Bye bye Blue Star.

We didn't eat here, but the beer was excellent. Staff was attentive. I hear it's a great place at night, but we didn't want that kinda scene.

We came here last before the spurs game. They have a Bus that will take you to the game and back. It is a genius idea! It is a great place to pre-game. They have a great selection of beer they brew on site. I highly recommend the green tractor!

The Blue Star Brewery is an awesome SPOT to visit and hang around, as they provide many activities regardless if your single or married. Their menu has a variety to choose from along with some bands/music.

Blue Star is a casual place with a rustic, kind of jumbled feel, with both inside and outside tables to eat and/or have a beer. The food is okay - the burgers are good (and huge, split one if you're not too hungry), and we liked the garlic fries. Our friend had the brisket tacos and wasn't impressed. The staff is always friendly, and the location is great - at the end of Alamo street and Southtown and in the center of the Blue Star warehouse district, directly next to the Southern Reach of the Riverwalk. They were one of the first, if not the first, local craft brewers and you will surely find something here that fits your taste. It's a nice place to hang out and have a beer and a burger during First Friday, and there is usually a band out front on those days.

We visited three time in one week, staff great, food good as was beer, on one night free jazz which was fantastic, the beer was good tried 3 types all worth drinking, venue was also nice neat the river and old historic areas , if in town would go again,

Had a burger and was aaalriiiight........ Nothing special here, tended to be loud and somewhat bar-ish atmosphere. So-so on most everything....... cleanliness, service, food, atmosphere. I would go back if someone else was paying, Not my first choice for a great meal.

Fabulous meal! Fantastic ambience! A special surprise venue we found!! Awesome beers! The Greek bunless burger was phenominal!!! Don't miss this!

This brewery is right next to the River Walk, so you can stop by for a special brew if you're out for a stroll or a bike ride. There's a large deck to sit out and enjoy a meal or a drink. Good sandwiches and burgers.

I had the German Plate and my husband had the Greek burger. Mine was wonderful, his was good. The service was excellent. We sat outside. People were friendly and it was a nice experience. The free shuttle to the Spurs game was a bonus. Don't miss this place!

Food is average, nothing special but not bad. Service is always good. Atmosphere and the area are awesome.

They have really improved the quality and atmosphere of this location. A variety of restaurants, small bars with wine and coffee shops. I enjoyed a bar drink and my friends enjoyed a coffee.

I went into Blue Star the first year it was open (1996) and until this last April I had not returned. I visit San Antonio frequently, but for some reason I had never returned to Blue Star. What a mistake! I was on a tight schedule so I just dropped in to have a beer and look around, I did not realize that they also serve food. I enjoyed the house's most popular beer (I forgot the name), and it was very good. My wife is not a beer drinker so she was just sitting at the table sulking, until the waiter convinced her to have a piece of coconut-cream pie. That turned the visit into an enjoyable experience. After I finished my beer I helped her finish off the large piece of pie. I must say the pie was very good and the portion was sized for two people. On my next trip to S A, Blue Star will be on my schedule and I will enjoy more of their fine beer and take a closer look at their menu. I you like beer with your meal then you should give this brewery a try. The brewery is located on south Alamo St. just a little south of downtown. I am reasonably sure that the trolley goes there.

Nice atmosphere. Warehouse setting. Attentive waitress. Local draft brews great . shared a brisket sandwich that was tough as shoe leather !

Refreshing stop along the Riverwalk/Mission Trail. Great Beer. Jason the Bar manager was great for our second visit. The first visit was horrible, bartender did not tend!! The location is right one the Mission trail and was great relief after a long day biking to all the missions!!! Food was good too!!!

Ubered over from the riverwalk downtown and then walked back, maybe a couple of miles. Not too crowded, so we sat outside on the deck and everyone had a friendly dog with them it seems. Good beer: Cask conditioned ale, Cowtown brown ale, and TexMex lager, micheladas. The pickled veggies wee actually great!

Walked down form the Riverwalk area for some drinks. They have an excellent beer selection of only their beers. Don't go here looking for a Bud Light. Nice outdoor patio overlooking the river.

It was ok. Ok food, ok drinks, ok desserts. I don’t know that I’ll be back as there wasn’t anything exceptional about the restaurant.

We went for the beer, but the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Try the chili and frito pie. Save room for dessert. The beer was also very good. I recommend the Apache Amber. Our server, Ellen, showed a lot of patience with us!

Good Beer.. Good food.. Go there. Service was great too.. prices are typical. The hand pumped cask beer was a first for me.. good stuff!

We love the beer here--I'm a fan of the Flying Pig and Texican, and my husband loves the Green Tractor. Great appetizers--especially the garlic fries, calamari, and fried mushrooms. The honey mustard and spicy ranch are great dips for any of them. We don't have "real" food here often, but love the brat plate and the burger. They smoke their own brisket right out front, and it's awesome on the brisket nachos. And the carrot cake is amazing! All of the food (and beer, actually) is made from organic ingredients, and the dessert recipes all came from the owner's mother. We like the atmosphere--small and kind of dark, but also has a deck outside. The staff may seem cool at first, but certainly warm up if you are friendly with them. The Blue Star has become our go-to after our Sunday bike rides!

We had fun listening to a large jazz group who were enjoying making music; maybe all volunteers? Call to see what kind of music they are featuring; this was a Sun. or Mon. We had burgers and good brew. Stop by for a casual evening.

Bartender was not straight up rude but had a VERY pompous attitude! My husband said hey how you doing and had to say it twice to get any response from him. As it was our first time we were not aware of the restaurant and drinks. Bartender answered my like I was an idiot when I ordered a drink with alcohol. Very disappointed with the customer service but I guess theres something for everyone and this is obviously not our thing.

The microbrewery that started it all in SATx. You can often see or talk with Joey, the owner. Tasty food, filling, fun. If you like beer, try a sampler. Decks up and down. Free jazz some evenings. The center of First Friday art happenings.

Blue Star was a gem off the beaten path of the “Riverwalk”. A local hang out with good food, really good beer and friendly service. Our party of three were greeted with friendly service upon coming through the door. Warm tortilla chips with great salsa was on the table as we were seated. An excellent craft beer selection. Sour, porter, IPA were all good. Dinner was a “pig bowl”. Mashed potatoes, corn, shredded pork and cheddar, great stuff. Definitely a place to visit in San Antonio.

Went with a few friends for a casual dinner and found ourselves in a very relaxed setting. I wasn’t looking for anything big to eat, but the brisket tacos were a solid choice. Literally was stuffed after eating it and had a very good IPA to wash it down! Definitely recommend sitting outside with a few beers and enjoy great conversation!

Looking around and found this little place. Nice Atmosphere with GOOD food and Great beer Outside of the touristy areas! Worth checking out We had jalapeño poppers and They are Good!!!

I reviewed this restaurant in 2017 and gave it 5 stars. I suspect it is under different management as this visit was much different. Our waitress was pleasant but inattentive. She was covering the bar, but there was only 1 couple at the bar and us inside the restaurant. I had to ask about the frozen cocktail I ordered when the appetizer came out, I had to go to the bar to ask about desert (even though we already indicated we wanted desert) and had to go to the bar to ask for the check once desert was finished. We ordered the garlic and parsley fries,, the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies and chocolate cake. The garlic fries had 2-3 tablespoons of fresh garlic (overpowering), the "mashed potatoes" I am not sure what they were, but they were greasy and gritty (not sure they were even potatoes), the chicken fried chicken was okay, the grilled veggies were good (but greasy) and the chocolate cake was average. We will not eat here again.

My husband ordered brisket tacos and I ordered the German plate. The food came out quick and it was excellent!! I really liked the side of beans the came with my husband’s tacos. Spicy and cilantro… can’t go wrong! The outdoor seating is really nice as well.

Stopped in for a few cool ones and a snack, really neat area this place is in and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Had a flight of beers and enjoyed it!

Great, friendly staff. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The beer selection wasn't extensive, but the four we tried were excellent. It had a nice vibe and was walking distance from our downtown hotel on the river walk.

Met some friends here for dinner and a beer (ok...a flight of beer). Beers were pretty good. Mahi Mahi tacos were ok (nothing to write home about). I'd recommend it, just not a favorite of mine.

Off the beaten path. Great outdoor seating and craft beer. Food was quite good as was service. Had Huevos Rancheros and a salmon salad. Both very good.

We visited late afternoon and were greeted right away. The staff was very friendly. We enjoyed a selection of samples at $1.50 each. The beer is cold and fresh. The Sangria is also delicious. We had a late lunch so we did not look at the food menu. It is at the edge of the King William District, behind the Guenther House.

The food is great and so is the Jazz on Tuesday evenings. It's a great place to relax and enjoy casual dining with a gourmet touch. Adjacent to the River Walk and art venues.

So, I was between events on Martin Luther King Day. I stopped into Blue Star Brewery for a rest. Special was three chicken-fried chicken fingers over linguini alfredo. It was the best alfredo I've had in a long time! Clearly made from scratch, served at just the right temp. The raspberry beer was surprisingly good! I've enjoyed the pilsner several times and didn't realize they had ventured into sours. Good service, comforting venue, casual and relaxed. A win again.

We were hungry having ridden to the missions and back. Covid means there’s not a lot of tables so whilst it was busy, I don’t think it was THAT busy. We waited 50 mins for a nachos, burger and fish tacos. Our server didn’t communicate with us even when he could see we’d been waiting a while. I could see other tables were waiting a while too. Now, the food was definitely NOT worth the wait. The nachos were not tasty at all. The Greek bunless burger was awful. The Greek salad was not at all like a Greek salad and the burger patty was salty and chewy. The fish tacos were dry and tasteless. We were so hungry we ate most of it. The server gave us 20% off the bill but honestly it wasn’t even worth the discounted price. I would not go back here. Stop here for a drink and watch sport but definitely don’t eat here. Quite honestly, one of the worst lunch experiences I’ve had in SA.

My wife and i headed out the River Walk and went way out towards the Missions. On the way back, stopped at Blue Star .. after walking 5-7 miles it was time for a beer and snack. For us Portland folks, Blue Star brought a bit of PDX down to Texas. Beer was good, chips authentic and service great. Plan you urban hike and take a rest stop here ... you will not be disappointed.

We went for a lunch meeting. We ate on the patio. The staff was courteous. I ordered the lamb sliders and they were delicious and well prepared. They didn’t offer sweet potato fries but... the fries were still good. My team had a turkey BLT and a “German” plate. All the portions were pretty large. I recommend this place.

After a series of disappointments and rip offs in San Antonio, I was so close to liking this place. Organic beers and good food was served. The waiter said each individual beer in their "flights" we're $1.50. He said it was happy hour and all pints were $5. Then the bill came. Some of the beer samples in the flight were $1.74 and $1.99. The $5 happy hour pints turned out to not include the IPA, which ended up being $6.50. It's not about the couple bucks extra charge over the promised pricing. It's about the dishonesty or carelessness or both...it's the 5th time in 3 days in SA that restaurants/brewers have tried to screw their customer by a few bucks. The Tower of the Americas guy tried to charge us $24.99 for two tickets and unclimbed a tip for $24.99. If I hadn't checked the receipt, he'd gotten away with it. The mis charged sales are always in their favor.....I liked this place. I was going to buy a shirt. I'm not going to buy one now. Screw you.

Any time we are in South Town of San Antonio, Blue Star is the hang out to be at. Finger foods are tasty and drinks are plenty. On the roof is a good view of the city. Art and Music can come from Blue Star or from around the corner on this side of town. Fun place to meet up with friends for happy hour or late night chilling.

Stopped in while riding our bikes on The Riverwalk. Beer choices did not disappoint but the food was below average. Chili Cheeses fries looked good and we dove right in after a long bike ride, but it had these fatty chunks in them, had to spit it into my napkin. Not sure if this is was a fluke or the norm. Fish tacos were ok, except the tortillas fell apart when I opened the aluminum foil they were in, did not bother eating the tortillas. Everything else was just average. Don’t have to go back for more except maybe the Raspberry beer. The wait staff was pleasant and speedy.

Liked the feel. Fish and shrimp were good. As were fries. I tried a few of their beers and liked them. Live Latin Jazz completed the combo.

If you're hitting the Mission Trail from the city, this is a perfect stop to get some food on the way in or out of the trail. If the sun is shining, grab an outdoor patio seat and you'll be smiling like a Cheshire Cat with a beer in hand. And speaking of animals, the venue is so wonderful that they could have thrown me a bone along with my beer and I would have been satisfied. But, instead, the food was actually pretty good for a brewery. It would be a reach to say "great," but good is probably a fair assessment for what we ordered. I had the brisket tacos and my wife ordered the Green Chili and Pork Chili Soup. We also ordered some fries. It's rare I come across a brewery who seems bold or inept enough to offer two sours out of a roundup of 8-9 other beers, so I tried the Raspberry Geyser (sour). It was a good beer, but the aftertaste was a little underwhelming. As one reviewer notes, their sampler consists of 9 different beers. I did a double take when the server first explained this to me. Overall, it felt like the food was solid, but lacked nuance or subtlety. The bowl of beans were just that--no onions, peppers, etc. The fries were covered with fresh garlic and parsley, but, there were large chunks of garlic here and there. The Brisket Tacos were just that--chunks of brisket on a non-steamed or fried tortilla, e.g meat and tortilla. The accompanying vegetables for the tacos consisted of a small pile of tomatoes and onions. No real imagination, creativity or finesse. If the location and patio wasn't so outstanding, I would have given this an average rating.

Very nice brewery! Enjoyed the stout beer. The cask condition pale ale was very good. Really liked the location. Right on the river walk. Jesus our server was a wonderful, patient and kind. He seemed to know what I wanted before I ordered my beer. Good at explaining the choices. The food was good. Enjoyed the whole evening. Thanks so much!

Decent food, decent service and a decent selection of beer...but the location and the atmosphere is great!

This is my fourth time here, the previous three some four years ago. I like to try local beers. My memory of great beer was refreshed as the beer was first rate. When I went before, the menu was eclectic and inspired, particularly for a brewery. (That's why we went three times.) This time, the menu seemed more traditional bar food, maybe a bit dressed up. Go there for the beer, the walk, the outside seating. The food is OK.

Good beer brewed on site, nice flight offer to try them all, food is only so-so, typical bar menu. Service a little slow. Like the outdoor seating and funky building. Good place to hang and talk with friends.

Try the fried polenta appetizer and a flight of beer. Sunday has breakfast and lunch options. The fish tacos were a little dry but the sauce was really good. The turkey sandwich was moist and came with a generous portion of sliced avocado.

We left a neighboring restaurant when they told us the wait time to be seated was 1.5 hours and stopped here on a Sunday right before noon - not a soul in the place, so we were a bit skeptical, but that was shortly lived! We were surprised that breakfast was available. Our server, Isabella, provided us details on breakfast items available in addition to their menu. Hubby selected pork chop and eggs. The pork chop was huge! Pretty tasty as I stole a bite from him. My huevos rancheros was good. Served with corn tortillas, bacon, refried beans and potatoes. Yummmmm! As we departed, the dining area was just about filled to capacity. Guess we found a secret spot for some damn good breakfast!

Most of their beers are above average and some were outstanding. Craft beer fans should definitely swing by if in SA. Also, they don't overcharge for their flights like a lot of breweries do and you get to choose how many beers you want in your flight.

A "hipsters" place to be! A very modern establishment that emphasize eating healthy foods grown and raised with strict guidelines.

Beers were good but would have been much better if the outside seating didn’t smell of garbage and there were no flies. Had the “loaded nachos” - I’d hate to see the unloaded ones!!! Very stingy. Had better nachos with more toppings at the Bell. Not going back.

I don't understand the people who gave this place a bad review. I was totally impressed by this place. First off, it is a brewery. If you don't like beer, you will not like this place. But, if you love good beer, you will love this place. I tried the Texican and the Spire Stout and they were both great. My favorite was the spire stout. I am a Guinness fan so I am partial to stouts. This is the first stout that I have had that I felt was better than Guinness. It was very creamy and had a distinct taste of coffee. For food, we only had the Poppers for an appetizer because we were planning on having dinner somewhere else. The poppers were great and I so wish we had just eaten there. I highly recommend this place.

Had the fish tacos and they were perfectly seasoned with mahi mahi. Friends had brisket nachos and the German platter. It's been a few years since I've eaten here and the food has greatly improved. Great job. Prices are very reasonable. And the beer, awesome!

I came here for lunch and ordered the salmon, was a little surprised it took a few minutes to serve and was cooked a few millimeters. I returned the dish and was given another salmon a few minutes later, and it tasted like it had been warmed up. If you come here I would stick to the beers and avoid the fish.

We were there for lunch around 1:30 pm. It took forever to just get menus. Once we finally ordered, it took a long time for the food. The couple next to us waited 45+ minutes for 2 salads. We got our food but no flatware to actually eat with. I asked the waitress and she didn't come back for awhile. Meanwhile the food was getting cold. I finally went searching myself. When the waitress cleared a couple of plates, we asked for the check. That took awhile too. I put my card on the check but waited forever for her to take care if it. The place was not very busy either. My family said the fries were good. The chicken and fish were average. The enchiladas were not good and not like the description on the menu. It could be a really cute place right by the river and a great place to stop to take a break but not as our experience was.

Bluestar brews its own beers in a variety of styles. Not being a craft beer fan its all lost on me. The food is good and various live music makes its way out of the back room. Funky, loud setting.

Big group ate and drank here...food and drinks were really good!!! Most of the meals were really large.. everyone loved the fried pickles!! Waitress was really nice!!

Good but not really great. They were out of my original entree order and it took an extremely long time for my entree to arrive. Ordered beer cheese as an appetizer and they had to defrost before serving (it was "okay" but not stellar by any means). Beer was cold, service was gracious but slow.

Horrible service and horrible food. Stay Away! Took over a half hour to get drinks and another half hour. The salmon was disgusting and not cooked properly. They ran out of ketchup!

We walked for several miles on the Mission Trail only to discover that there is absolutely no food available anywhere on the trail (or even right off the trail). So we turned around and we're ready to walk back to the crowded and expensive River Walk area, when we stumbled upon the Blue Star. We stopped for a late lunch. It was very good! Large place with a nice porch and a menu with lots of appetizer, salad, burger and sandwich choices. About 8 of their beers on tap. We had a burger and a BLT. Fries were very tasty. Get away from the crowded River Walk area and enjoy a quiet one mile walk along the river to the Blue Star -- you will be glad you did!

Stopped here for beers and lunch after a long bike ride. Loved everything about the place. Great service and ambiance. Super selection of beers and a great lunch. Will return for sure after each bike ride.

We got off the hop on hop off bus at stop 14 & just happened upon this great brew house. The beer, food and service was great, super friendly staff. I had the jerk chicken which was perfectly cooked and my husband had the brisket taco. We will definitely be back.

A lunch at the Blue Star Brewing Company over Labor Day Weekend was a good finale to a bike ride along the Mission Trail. The service was attentive, the large portions of food were tasty, and the sour beer was refreshing on a hot Saturday afternoon. Parking was ample, although it's shared with the rest of the Blue Star complex.

Take the southern extension of the famous San Antonio Riverwalk for a relaxing respite from the hordes of tourists. Then, less than a mile's walk away, stop at the Blue Star Brewing restaurant and micro-brewery. The atmosphere is casual and the food is fabulous. Plus, because it has yet to be overwhelmed by tourists, the prices are 30 - 40% less than at similar establishments on the crowded section of the Riverwalk. We are not beer aficionados so I cannot comment on the micro brews. Fish tacos and nachos were superb. And the pecan pie was especially unique tasting, I gotta tell you. So, do yourself a favor and visit this ultra relaxing place. Pet / dog friendly at exterior patio seating.

We had lunch at the Blue Star and we were very pleased. We shared the southwest chicken salad and a bowl of the pork green chili, and although the salad was one of the better ones I've had, if I ever get back there, I would get nothing but that chili. It was absolutely delicious! Thick with tender pieces of pork and an outstanding flavor with a gentle kick. The "Brew Menu" has over ten to choose from and the staff is friendly and efficient, with none of the snobbery you find in some craft beer establishments.

A few weeks ago, my girlfriend invited me out on the town for Live Jazz and I jumped at the opportunity to attend as I had recently fell in love with Live Bands in the Dallas area. I had passed Blue Star Brewing only once before and was unaware of the lack of parking spaces and unfortunately had to circle around the block a few times to find parking. Since the establishment is collocated with another restaurant, I would recommend you come early to snag a spot. My date and I entered the wrong establishment at first so look for the doors in the middle of the establishments to lead you into Blue Star Brewing and do not enter the establishment on the end. The place was packed with guests from several age categories and the Band was in full throttle when we arrived. These "Cats" (term used for Gentlemen in the night club scene during the 40's - 60's) were the real deal. I felt as if I had stepped into a Grand Orchestra seeing the trumpets, bass guitars, saxophones and other band members playing their instruments and the Best part was that the entire affair was FREE. Every Tuesday, a different band graces fans with their music and we had the pleasure of hearing the classic ballads of the San Antonio Jazz band. They performed well orchestrated solos and even allowed former students to grace the crowd with their tunes. As our group sipped on cocktails, my date and I sampled the Shrimp and Grits and an entrée of Salmon. My Shrimp and Grits arrived with some kicking Cajun seasoning and crunchy bits of bacon. This dish would have been 5 stars if it had arrived with just a little pinch of salt. I do understand some chefs allow patrons to add their own, but this Southern Belle knows salt is an ingredient that needs to simmer in a pot of Grits. The Cajun flavor helped the dish as I swirled my Cajun seasoning into the grits as I ate. My date enjoyed a plate of juicy salmon, roasted baby tomatoes and a bowl of grits. He wanted ya'll to know that he thoroughly enjoyed his meal but also agreed that his grits suffered from the lack of salt. All in all, this was an excellent affair and the crowd was definitely enjoying themselves. The band broke for a break and walked the room mingling with the guest. We slipped out a few hours into the final set and an older woman next to us laughed and said "Early Birds".. While I would have loved to dance into the late evening, the full belly and ride home prompted an early departure. I'll definitely return and highly recommend. Even with the packed room, the staff seemed to keep everyone satisfied. A+ experience. Ms. Foodie

We went for a Sunday brunch as we wanted to combine it with a Riverwalk cruise. Omg it was terrible. Basic brewery atmosphere, dimly lit & chilly inside as it was a cool rainy day. I wasn't hungry so ordered the chicken soup....sent back as it was so salty & got fruit bowl instead. Dtrs Turkey sandwich missed avacado, lettuce, soggy bread. Reuben was fair @ best. Pretzel appetizer good, hot & really the only thing we actually ate! Save your $$$$ & keep looking for better.

Beer is fantastic! Great location with other restaurants and shops nearby. Food is hit-or-miss. One of the few places near the RiverWalk that has ample free parking. Did I mention the beer was organic??? Oh, and there's a great little provisions shop next door where you can fill a growler and buy neat little snacks and gifts.

The Cowtown nitro is by far the best beer this side of Bend, Oregon.... An ultra smooth, full flavor black ale.... Fish tacos overflowing with Mahi-Mahi, not cheap tilapia...yummm.. The best for last, in house made carrot cake....a super dense explosion of flavor. Highly recommend this brew house after a long bike ride to the missions... 😀😀

The beers are the attraction. Food is available. We had a Reuben sandwich, and Fish & Chips. The Reuben was okay. The fish & chips were terrible! Fish was bland (no seasoning in fish or batter) and the (chips) French fries were so over fried they were charred, and inedible. We had ordered a Quinoa salad and asked that it be served first, but it arrived AT the same time as our main courses, and was topped with chicken we hadn't asked for. The salad was returned and we were not charged for it. Service was slow.

Parking at dinner time on Friday night was tricky, but the service inside more than make up for it! Our server was friendly and attentive. We had the fish tacos, the lemon fettuccini and the kids black bean and cheese tacos -all wonderful! Our server went above and beyond when, observing the situation unfolding at our table with a very worn out 2-year old, he swooped in and saved the day. His kindness and generosity won't soon be forgotten! I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food and the service.

Found this place in the new upgraded Blue Star area of South Town. They have some very good craft beers here. So if your a beer snob this place is for you.

Dog friendly patio, green beer and wonderful food, all the great requirements for a fun filled day out with my dog.

For a Saturday afternoon it was a pleasant place to grab a beer and a snack. Of course I grabbed my usual water and he got weird beer. Most importantly they filled the growler for him. Chicken bacon fries could have been a little warmer but over all really great service and quality beer selection.

We ate at the Blue Star Brewing Company after biking the Mission Trail. The restaurant is located right on the trail, but it was not crowded. We all had burgers, which were very good. The ginger ale was delicious! It tasted like it was made from fresh ginger!

Beer is good, interesting decor. Had the amber lager is what amber should be. The food on the other hand was fair. Would definitely come back for a drinking excursion.

We always have to try and hit a brewery or too and Blue Star was the only one I found in a quick search, that served lunch. We started with the Jalapeno Brisket Poppers. These are a perfect blend of very tender chopped Smoked Brisket, Cream Cheese and Jalapenos (I don't know what else), battered and fried. I had the Blue Star Burger with Pulled Pork and fries. They didn't ask how I wanted it cooked and it came medium well. While I prefer medium-rare, it was still very good, maybe a little dry from being that done. The fries are great as well. My wife had the Quinoa Tabouli Salad (as well as a lot of my fries) and said it was quite good (the fries too).

Blue Star has good beer and good food. Oh, rent a bike, too, to enjoy the Riverwalk. Or walk a mile or so to downtown San Antonio. Or bike. Or paddle. Enjoy!!

Here on business twice a year. I've had 2 enjoyable visits in the past. I knew I was in trouble when I visited the bathroom. Ad frames and soap dispenser in shambles. And stinky. No big deal. The Wheathead and Dunkelhead beers were flat. The fish tacos were dry. The porkchop tartar...doesn't exist anywhere else. Raw pork? They were out of wings. I'll give the place one more shot in a year. Real disappointed tonight!

This artist colony on the Southern boundary of the King William and along the San Antonio River has an awesome RESTAUANT/ MICRO BREWARY!

This is a small restaurant/bar with home made beer, food and desserts. We did not try the beer, but the food was delicious and large portioned. My husband and I split the Reuben sandwich with home made fries and pickled vegetables. We finished it off with a slice of carrot cake. Prices was good for the quality of food.

Went on s Tuesday jazz night. Great beer. Good food. Fabulous music with fun loving crowd. Highly recommend it

Fun place for a cool refreshing beer and friends. Very fun place local to the river walk area. Go for some great beer and mingle with the locals..

I have higher standard of beer and food in a brew pub since I lived in Colorado for a long time. This place is in a nice location near bike trail but food and beer are just OK. There was too much meat in the green chile. There was no wit for a seat but service was slow.

The southwest salad is wonderful it has fresh greens, avocado chicken, black bean, cherry tomatoes, roasted corn, tortilla chips,& pico. So filling and refreshing. The wait staff is always friendly and the restaurant is always very clean also indoor or outdoor eating.great place to hang out.

Nestled along the river walk, this establishment boasts breathtaking outdoor scenery, perfect for al fresco dining enthusiasts. While the interior exudes a quaint, vintage charm, it may not quite qualify as modern, yet it still maintains its own unique appeal. Impeccably clean and staffed by friendly individuals, the ambiance is welcoming and inviting. Although our waiter ensured our needs were met upon inquiry, they didn't actively check in beyond that. Despite the bustling crowd, the service remained efficient. The menu features a selection of classic bar fare, including burgers, chicken wings, tacos, along with a few sandwiches and salads. While the offerings weren't groundbreaking, they were satisfying nonetheless. With a full bar at your disposal, the menu pairs seamlessly with an array of libations. Imagine basking in the serene riverside atmosphere, indulging in delectable food and refreshing drinks—a recipe for a blissful day out. While the restaurant may not be extraordinary, it fulfills its purpose admirably, providing a relaxing haven for locals and visitors alike.

The appetizers were lukewarm to cold. The nachos with chicken hardly had any chicken and they were cold. The coating on the fish was tough, not crispy. The chicken pasta dish lacked flavor and or seasoning. The cost of a 4 oz pour of a glass of wine was outrageous at $10.50 a glass. The pour of wine in a small wine glass was barely 4 oz at best. Our waitress was friendly, but seemed overwhelmed as there were long periods of time where we did not see her. Our bill was over $200. We would not go back; very disappointed.

This has got to be the worst restraunt I have visited in a long time. The staff is so unattractive and very very slow. I ordered the half sandwich and soup. The bread on the grill cheese was not fresh and green chilli pork soup had been in the leftover bin way too long. After one bite of each I called over the wait person and asked for my check. She asked was the ok. I told her it just wasn't good. She did not offer to take it off my bill, so I paid for the meal and went to a different restraunt for lunch. Not a good place. Good luck!

Ate here twice while we were in San Antonio this week, once for an event and the second just for a casual dinner. Both times we were impressed by the quality and consistency of the food. Meals were fresh and affordable and the service was friendly and attentive.

I like to come down to Blue Star Complex, park, walk along the river till I get to the downtown Riverwalk area and then head back. It's about 3 miles total. Then I get to stop at Blue Star Brewery for lunch/brunch and a good beer or beermosa!

I enjoyed the sangria, my husband, son and daughter in enjoyed their signature beers and all was good. The food was outstanding would return for sure.

How can a brewery run out of one its flagship beers is a question that I have tonight, and they don't make it clear despite still advertising it on their chalkboard. Hugely disappointing that they're out of beer, and the food is okay. Not too much else to say about this place.

As travelers with a dog, we look for dog friendly venues. Blue star is great! and the food is excellent. Their tacos are not breaded (great if you hate gluten) and are perfectly seasoned! and of course their beer is always a treat. Situated on the pedestrian part of the Riverwalk, it is a great place to exercise the dog, have a meal and relax.

Happened by Blue Star Brewing and decided to try it during a recent San Antonio visit. I'm glad I did. I wasn't impressed with the craft few beers I sampled, but the fish tacos were outstanding.

WE eat here all the time, when driving through. Good Micro brewery with good food and great beer. On the East side of the River walk, next to the Blue Star Art Complex.

We heard about this place from a friend of ours and decided we had to try it. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who told us we could sit at the bar or have a table. We opted for the bar like we usually do, but the bartender on duty was not very friendly. He was not as attentive as we would have liked considering it was our first time there, we wanted to try a few different beers that they had. We had their fried pickles and beer cheese dip with pretzel bread. Both were absolutely delicious. We had a few beverages and tried a flight of beers so we could sample some of the beer they brew. They only serve what they brew in house, so if you're looking for your usual domestics, etc., you won't find them here. We thought their beers were great. We were able to sample, and find something we liked. Overall, the food and beer was good, but the service could have been a little more welcoming and friendly.

Food is generally quite good. The restaurant portion on week-ends is under staffed. Customers standing at their tables/walking around/approaching other staff to give their order (s) and to get their bills to pay .....

I wanted to try local craft beer in San Antonio and I looked up many places but being a Monday this was the only one open. I had a flight and it was delicious. I did not try the food. The beer was really good and if you like craft beer then you need to check out this place.

Visiting SA from the UK. Had a lovely walk from Downtown to the Blue Star Brewery. Lots of locals having lunch. Staff are just great, really welcoming and give us great advice on which beers to try. I am not much of a beer drinker but the Sangria was great and my husband enjoyed several beers 😀 Highly recommend the pretzel and beer dip combo....really delicious. Thanks for a great visit.

If you are here during the night time you will not receive the best service and the staff seems to be in "another world." I got a vibe like we were unwanted. Only stayed for a few beers. May not visit again.

Can't say there's anything bad about this place...just can't say there is anything amazing about it either. The beer, however, is really good. Food is okay. Vibe is relaxed.

This place is amazing and has a wonderful atmosphere. The beer and food is great! I would recommend visiting Blue Star Brewing!

We came here because it was close to or air BNB and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food, friendly staff, and the fact that it cost less than $50 to have a delicious meal. My husband and I went back 2 nights in a row. He had the brisket sandwich on rye, I had the jerk chicken and a "Moscow Mule" beer cocktail. Our waiter Nicholas was very friendly and remembered us when we went back. This space is great, it is right off of the riverwalk in Southtown, which is a quiet relaxing place away from the bustle of the downtown area of the riverwalk. We highly recommend this restaurant and will be back!

This is a fun brewpub in Southtown, just south of downtown. It's part of the Blue Star Arts complex, which includes galleries to stroll through and, sometimes, theatrical productions. The beer is OK, not my favorite brewpub but still decent. There are several varieties. I've been here at lunch and dinner, both times having a sandwich or a burger, which were both good. Service can be a little slow, so don't come here if you are in a hurry. They occasionally have live music on weekends.

We walked from the central portion of Riverwalk, which was an enjoyable walk, but it may be too far for some people. We liked the atmosphere of the tasting room. Being from the Pacific NW we have a taste for the hops bite in beer, so we didn't enjoy the beer served here as much. Not their fault, just our taste preferences. We didn't sample any food.

On a hot afternoon we had a decent meal here while exploring the other attractions of the Blue Star Complex. We thought all of the cars meant they were very busy, until we figured that some of them were for residents. What a cool place to live. We had a choice of several eating establishments at Blue Star an chose this. One thing was strange for a brewery. Our beer glasses were not cold. They were room temperature, or even hotter. It was a touch we would have appreciated. The service was fine and the food pretty good. Three stars would mean average. It’s better than that. But not five stars, either.

We hoofed it down to the Blue Star Brewing Company after a referral for good beer and live jazz music. They have a good selection of beer and the menu is typical for bar type food. There were a variety of disappointments that started with three beers we tried to order at different times they ran out of. They ran out of blue cheese for the buffalo wings. The cold water didn't work in the men's restroom so you got a nice scalding when trying to wash your hands. The band was great, but the venue wasn't much.

We stopped here for lunch from the hop on hop off bus tour. They have a great beer selection and the ones we chose were very good. We enjoyed the food as well. Very quick and friendly service. Worth the stop!

Very nice spot, super friendly service, and good American menu. They were out of brisket, but I tried a burger with the sweet potato fries and ot was very good. But the star was the beer, I tried the flying pig and the king william, and there were both very sophisticated beers…I would recommend the place to visit with friends, but be careful because you may drink way too many beers

Rendezvousing with friends we have not seen in years. Why not meet at a brewery? We did! It was a Monday so not real busy. We sat on the outside deck. It was nice. 4 of us split a couple of brisket sandwiches with some of the beer brewed inside! All was very good. 2 sandwiches, 4 beers = $57.00.

Sticky bar. Short menu. Food was bland, order the Pig Pie (pork green chile). Cocktails were beer base or wine based. I'll pass

Parking is available to unload or rent a bike at the bike shop. We biked Mission Road to see the Missions and then enjoyed a craft beer, appetizer and salad outside on the deck. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Fun, friendly atmosphere and good food and drink. I am not much of a craft beer person but I did enjoy their light beer.

Atmosphere is good. They have beer inspired drinks and I got the mojito which was good. Service was terrible. Loaded nachos pretty good but the brisket tacos were terrible. It was just a piece of dry brisket inside a flour tortilla. Literally that’s it.

Went here to relax after a long day on the Riverwalk. Short drive, good food (green chili), and good beer.

We stopped here after a long walk on the RIverwalk. The bartender was great - very prompt and friendly. The beers are pretty good, too. We did not eat, but the food looked good. We would return.

We stopped in here for a quick drink. It's a cool little brewery that also offers food. Had we not already eaten we would have definitely grabbed something off their menu, it all looked delicious.

Nothing like pancakes and beer for lunch! Honest! The food is always good, the Beer is excellent. We have been stopping here on our way through SanAntonio for a while. Easy to get to from I-10, and the walk along the river is delightful.

We took the kids and ate lunch at this brewery on a Friday afternoon. The food was amazing and the beer was great too.

The restrauant has a good location at Blue Star. We arrived in early evening, lots of outdoor tables available all with dirty dishes on them. We sat at one & dishes removed. The waiter was nice, the food terrible, had fish tacos, friend had french fries which were greasy. The beer was good. This is a prime location at Blue Star too bad the food doesn't measure up.

We stopped here from a city bus tour to find a lunch different than something on the River Walk area. It is a casual atmosphere and definitely a brewery. The environment is just as I like it with eclectic and trendy decor and comfortable seating, nothing pretentious. We ordered a salad to split along with a couple of entrees (beef enchiladas and shredded pork tacos). The food is so tasty and fresh. We tried a couple of the beers as well. We really liked this place and would recommend it to travelers even though it is not in the main tourist area. It is located in the King Williams district and by part of the RiverWalk. So, if you are going to explore some of the historic houses of the area, this is a good place for lunch!

Had high hopes but wasn’t blown away. We stopped here for a flight of beers and didn’t love any of the 6 samples we tried. Our favorite was the raspberry sour. We also ordered the fried pickles and wasnt a hug fan either. They weren’t bad, just not finger licking good - i think we only ate about 1/3 of the order.

Good enough beer and food. Server was a bit intense, but highly effecient. Left our cc there.it was there the next day. ** Hint….rent the electric bikes and tour a few missions from this point. Very awesome!

Love the setting and the complex it's in. Great setting to take pics and also on the river bike trail

this is about a 25-30 minute walk south from the downtown along the river walk, along the way is nice old buildings/homes. the beer selection has a good offering and we enjoyed the flavor of the stout and brown - but were partial to those beers. the salmon portion of meat on the salad we ordered was perfect tasting and a larger then average size portion - which we liked since it was for two of us.

I live a short distance from the Blue Star and have had lunch here 2-3 times a month for the last 4+ years. It’s always been a reliable (if average) and convenient eatery/brewpub. Until yesterday…. The turkey, avocado, bacon club sandwich has devolved to 2 slabs of pressed turkey a touch of avocado and 1 strip of bacon. My wife’s fish taco appeared to be a frozen fish stick rolled up in a tortilla and wrapped in foil. Service which has typically been friendly was abrupt (even gruff) with no interest expressed for our satisfaction or experience. Just an all around lousy dining experience. Lots of choices (new and old) in the King William / Southtown area - disappointing to have to cross this neighborhood “go to” from our list. Hope someone will step-up and turn it around soon…

We just stopped here for drinks. The beer was ok. Not bad, but definitely not the best craft beer I've had. Enjoyed the stop but it wouldn't have bothered me if missed this place.
Good Food and Parking
We were headed downtown and took a little detour to eat at Blue Star Brewing. It was a very good lunch location. It was also good because there was parking! It would be a great place to hangout on a nice day because they have a very good sized patio.
