Not as good as I was told

By Chet P |

Friends and family have told me that this is excellent Chinese food and that the service was very good. My party of 6 ate there last week and we were very disappointed. First, the waiter was one of the least friendly servers I have encountered in a very long time. Secondly the food was only fair and served luke warm. In addition something like egg drop soup was not on our menu yet I was able to order it. There are too many better Chinese restaurants in Atlanta, so try one of them

Still a winner

By michael p |

It has been a year since I reviewed this restaurant and I am happy to say it is still one of the best Asian restaurants on Buford Highway. Not only is the food good but the staff is still the same friendly group that has taken care of custormers since they opened.

Delicious Chinese food

By sukkuenc |

We had dry fry "Hall-fun" with beef, seafood fry noodle, and garlic chicken. All professional made and tasty.

Good food at good prices

By michael p |

Came with a large group and shared dishes. More than we could handle. A huge menu means ask wait staff for your favorite meat or particular dish. Every dish was delicious. No trouble parking in their large shared lot. Try old favorites or experiment with new and you will not be disapointed.

Insects in rice

By Leeman7957 |

Ordered a fried rice dish with bbq pork. Large portion topped with bland rice. Upon mixing shrimp in rice mixture a small dead insect was found inside the rice. Promptly left this apparently unclean establishment. Fear the kitchen of this place. Insects in the food should tell you something. STAY AWAY!!!

Seafood fried noodle Cantonese style

By CVictorT |

One of the better place for a quick order of seafood fried noodle Cantonese style, very good and consistent. Been here many times and service is quick. Open late.

Great lunch

By Michael F |

We came for lunch and were seated promptly. We order a beef stir fry, a shrimp, and a large fish/veggie pot. Everything was amazing and served hot. Waiters are very nice and informative. Great restaurant.

Great place

By drfloodgates |

My favorite restaurant on Buford Hwy. I love Asian food, and this is by far the best authentic Chinese food in GA. I always order like a boss. We had Hong Kong style lobster, shrimp dumpling, lamb chops, geoduck soup, morning glory, golden spare ribs, Peking duck, fresh shrimp, and steam catfish. Service is a bit slow, but that's anywhere if they are busy. The food was great, so much flavor. It's not a 5 star dining but the food is 5 star. It's not the expensive like other restaurant, so I don't know what other reviewers are thinking.

3 1/2 stars. A Good lunch

By StevenHScher |

My wife & I stopped at Bo Bo for lunch based on a recommendation from a long Asian jeweler. My wife ordered the chicken wings, which came with choice of rice, an egg roll & choice of soup. We were disappointed that wonton soup was not a choice & the only option to have wonton soup was to order a large bowl for $8. The wings were good. The egg roll was really a vegetable spring roll & was just okay. The egg drop soup was good. I had the shrimp with lobster sauce which was excellent. The service was a little slow especially since it was not to busy. The menu is a little different than your ordinary Chinese restaurant. I would return if I am in the area.

Great Chinese dine in!!

By Lucy |

One of our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. Nice things is they are open for dine in as well. They check temperature of customer prior t seating, so we can feel safer. They have many different items on menu, and we have so far liked all of whatever we ordered.

Good Food

By Sara H |

My husband and I have dined here a couple of times. Most of the patrons and staff are Chinese, so you need to know your way around a huge menu. The servers can make excellent recommendations. Can be extremely busy so you may want to make reservations.

Awesome Real Chinese Food, Service Just Okay

By John K |

My wife and I had just finished shopping at Buford's Farmers Market and wanted some authentic Korean Food so we headed to what was a Korean Restaurant in Doraville but is now Bo Bo Garden. It ended up being a great find. The menu is primarily Chinese and the food we enjoyed was awesome. Not having any "Real" Oriental Choice in South GA we ordered three entrees planning to take home leftovers.: Eggplant with Garlic, Manila Clams in Black Bean Sauce, and Butter Fish (expecting Black Cod but the server said they were using Pompano which was fine) The Eggplant and Clams were served quickly and were excellent! The Butter Fish never showed up, and we had to interrupt another server to find our server, who had been sitting at a back table with fellow servers shelling Edamame'. He seemed disturbed but ran to get a menu and came to the table after we were almost done eating to let us know there was no Butter Fish, and "What else did we want to order?". Except for the completing our order snafu we enjoyed our lunch. We were one of the only non-Asian speaking tables in the restaurant and the other tables received more attention that ours. However, the food was so excellently prepared we will be back the next tine we do our quarterly stock op of Japanese and ethnic foods at Buford's.

One of the best Cantonese Chinese Restaurents in Atlanta

By wwudbi |

Since recommended by friends a few years ago, we have been visiting this restaurant so many times - authentic & delicious Cantonese style Chinese dishes, fast services, reasonable price. Our favorites are XO seafood fry rice, Fish head tofu soup, eggplant pot with dry fish. Their weekday lunch specials have some really authentic choices for competitive price, such as fry Asian style fishes.

Surprise accidental find

By Michael S |

A friend and I needed a place to get a quick bite to eat after seeing a movie and settled on Asian cuisine. This restaurant was close by and open late on Sunday evening. Wow, were we surprised. The menu has authentic dishes that one will not fine in a cookie cutter restaurant. The decor is nothing special, but that doesn't define a good meal for me. We were greeted quickly and seating as fast even though they were very busy. The staff was friendly and took our order quickly. We had steamed curry chicken and sauteed beef with mixed vegetables. Our dishes arrived quickly and hot and were simple but very flavorful, not packed with too many filler vegetables and over powered with sauce. We can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

One of My Favorites

By Jenny J |

I live in Atlanta, and this is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Great value and great food. Food comes super fast if it's not busy hour. The bulk of their menu is Cantonese food, but a lot of dishes are good for non-Cantonese people as well. Their seafood is really fresh, at least every time I ordered. My favorite dish is shrimp with XO sauce!

Terrific dumpling soup is also a 3 different dumpling appetizer

By david554 |

I asked for GuyLon with garlic and the waiter insisted on their Snow Pea Leaves instead, which had a strikingly similar taste to the Guylon, which comes as a small portion side dish to the 3 dumpling appetizer. We tried the (overcooked) squid/salt/pepper, the scallops with peppers was ok nothing great, the Seafood Hong Kong Noodle was good but the portions of seafood were small and meager , limited, but good gravy. Service was excellent, Chrysanthemum tea was very nice...nice meal but limited. Good soup.

Some of the worst service ever

By lastjuror |

My sister and I ate there recently and the service was horrible! First it was difficult placing an order and getting an understanding of the dishes. When asked about a dish the server could not answer and got another employee and that employee acted like we had the temerity to ask a question. The server declined to fill my water glass and my glass remained empty though most of the meal. Finally, it took an extraordinary amount of time to get the check despite the light traffic in our area. The décor was unacceptable and the chairs were uncomfortable. All of that being said the food was acceptable and the portions were sufficient. Unfortunately the service ruined the meal for me.

Great food

Excellent place for Chinese food. Great prices and very good service. Had the mixed seafood special and my friend had the beef and asparagus special, both of these dishes were wonderful.

Great Chinese Celebration Meal

By DragonflyLady2015 |

We were late for lunch after Citizenship Ceremony, so decided on an early dinner. We were with a Chinese neighbor and her son from NY City. We all decided to get 4 different dinners and share. Shrimp with XO sauce, Black Pepper Steak, Sweet & Sour Crispy Spare Ribs plus Deluxe Vegetables filled the table. Our waiter told us that we were ordering too many sweet items and made a suggestion to order the Black Pepper Shrimp. We asked for one fork which was provided promptly, the other 3 used the heavy plastic chopsticks. All the food disappeared in a flash and we all said that the choices we good. You could tell from the fact that only the bottom of the dishes were showing. Besides the usual fortune cookies, we were served a dish of fresh orange slices. There are many things on the menu that we want to try so we are going back for lunch first, then dinner again. Everything was fresh and presentation was nice and service was spot on.

Great food and the best waiter

By Diane B |

This is the second time I have visited this restaurant. My daughter lives in Atlanta; we were both craving Asian food. The menu pointed us in a few directions but a young, engaging waiter helped us decide. We ordered the three kinds of dumplings, the house special beef filet and shrimp with vegetables (snow peas shoots included). This was by far the best beef dish I have ever had in an Asian restaurant, small tender pieces of beef, fabulous salty sauce. The shrimp dish included extra large shrimp cooked to perfection, crunchy veggies and taste snow pea shoots. The waiter did an excellent job recommending these items and also provided superb service. We foliowed dinner with a one hour foot massage at a place a few doors down. A little bit of heaven following an excellent meal.

1st time

By Bbmbame |

Hubby and I stopped by for dinner having this area in mind for dinner due to the variety and number of Chinese restaurants. It was by far the most unique Chinese restaurant we've eaten in since our move to Atlanta 36 years ago. Fresh food, great flavors-reminded me of our trips to NYC Chinatown. Mostly locals but service was excellent and our server was very helpful in selecting some great dishes.

Great Lunch

By Clovernookwilly |

We have Vietnamese friends who recommended this place to us. It did not disappoint. Frankly we did not know what to order. Apparently there are two menus....0ne with more traditional dishes for those of us who go to run of the mill Asian restaurants and one for those who know what they are doing. We saw some pretty tasty looking dishes on tables nearly that did not appear on our menu. Go figure. Our dishes, pepper beef and sesame chicken were excellent! We are coming back for the full treatment next time. It’s a great place...,have fun.

Amazing !

By MARC L |

Very cosy and comfortable restaurant. Food was fresh, and tasty. Service was great. We had brought a cake for a special occasion. The waiter cleared the whole table for us after our dinner. Brought small plates and forks, cut the cake for everyone at our table. We had 15 different dishes with rice and tea, feeding 11 people and we had leftovers and our bill was under $150.00. Amazing !

Excellent food, good service and inexpensive!

By Adgee Cross |

This is one of our favorite Asian restaurants in Atlanta. This is not a fancy place, but the food is excellent. This is not the sanitized American version of Chinese food, but is very authentic. The service is excellent and friendly. One of our favorites on the menu is casserole rice. We like the casserole rice with froglegs and edible fungus. There is also a luncheon menu which has inexpensive choices including a whole pan fried fish for less than $6. I highly recommend this place. There is one prior review on TripAdvisor giving good ratings for Korean barbecue here. I think that is a mistake. This is not a Korean restaurant and I do not think they sell Korean barbecue

Bo Bo is So-So

By Keith B |

We went to Bo Bo Garden to get the special lobster-for-2 that had gotten good reviews. The restaurant is in the corner of a strip center on Buford Highway. Inside is typical Chinese restaurant décor. The staff is all friendly and very efficient. We started with the dumpling soup which was sort of bland. We moved on to the lobster dinner. It was a plentiful portion of chopped up small lobsters—don’t quite know how many, but it was a big pile. They were cooked in garlic, ginger and scallions. Somehow it didn’t work. The natural flavor of the lobster was overpowered. The pieces of scallion and ginger were very tasty. We had a side of sugar pea leaves. Again, OK but not as flavorful as we’ve had elsewhere. With the check we were given several wedges of fresh orange which were tasty and a nice touch. I really wanted to like Bo Bo. Unfortunately, it was just so-so.

Right Now, this is best mid range Chinese Restaurant in Town

By Poldpf |

Friendly staff and prompt seating. Also large portions of delicious food. We took the waiter's suggestion on one dish and designed another on our own. Both plates were terrific.

Very Good

By Tim T |

This is a real Chinese restaurant and not a number 1 through 125 menu place with fluorescent yellow egg drop soup. It was exotic to my eyes, ears, nose and palate. For westerners it is a good idea to look at the menu online before going. Your server may or may not be able to help you understand some things. Our waitress was able to answer our questions and that was a plus. We ordered a bowl of soup with a couple different kinds of shrimp dumplings in it and liked it. For entrees we had prawns in black bean sauce and it was excellent. Also had scallops in pepper sauce and the same verdict. Another person with us ordered Ma Po Tofu with ground pork and it was the best version of that dish I've ever had. Bo Bo Garden is worth the trip.

Big City Chinese

By Andrew R |

We had not been here since 2010. This place rocks. Hustling bustling friendly service all the food was tasty , took 30 plus minutes on Christmas Day due to long line but handled well. Vegetables to beef to calamari all very good.

Love love love the food from this place!!!!

By b3x10 |

This restaurant is one of the main reasons for our weekend getaway! Remembered how delicious the food was from our last visit 2 years ago, and when we went back this time, we were not disappointed!! Food was just perfect, portions large and prices so reasonable! Highly recommend this place if you want good, authentic Chinese food.

Nice lunch place at all times

By Panda C |

This is a good place for lunch and meet freidns in groups. They served many choice of dishes and plenty for the diner to satisfy their tastey bud and hunger. We were there many times. You can also order dishes that are on the plate, just describe it to the waiter and they will ask their chef to prepare it for you in no time.An easy comfy restaurant to meet customer's need. But no dimsum served at all.

Good As It Gets

By michael p |

It has been almost a year since I have been back and I'm happy to say that nothing has changed. The wait staff is still friendly and helpful and will guide you into the kind of food you want. The food is still some of the best on the Buford Highway. It is perfectly prepared and has all of the different degrees of taste you want to make it a memorable meal. Go and enjoy.

Non-American Chinese Food

By natthology |

Be prepare and study the menu beforehand. It's not the typical Chinese restaurant that caters toward average American consumers. If you know what you're ordering, you'll get great food. If not, then you'll be totally clueless and disappointed. Service was a little strange however. Very minimal. No smile, no friendly vibe, but not offensive either. I felt a bit uncomfortable when they just stared at our table like being judged for sitting there.

Unpretentious, just great food

By kmsmolen |

Try the three dumpling soup you'll keep coming back for more! My husband and I always order that. It comes in a large bowl that's plenty to share with two or even three people -- it has three different types of dumplings and some good greens. We often order some Chinese broccoli with garlic butter sauce and share that as well. Most of the clientele appears to be Asian so I think the food is very authentic and the place is always busy when we go. It is tucked in the corner of an older shopping center and isn't anything special but the service is always excellent and friendly.

Good Chinese food at very good prices.

By tkent1234 |

Went here in a party of ten for lunch with a young Chinese lady that we know. She ordered for everyone to share. Cantonese menu. We had crab soup, seafood congee, beef congee, spicy tofu, garlic chicken, shrimp with walnuts, fried calamari and snow pea leaves. I am not usually a big tofu fan; but, I liked spicy tofu the best. Had a little crust on the outside; but, then soft inside. Sort of melted in your mouth. I also liked the sauteed snow pea leaves as that was a new vegetable for me. Bo Bo is stuck in the corner of Pine Tree Plaza on Buford Hiway. Not that appealing from the outside; but, inside the restaurant decor is very nice, clean and up-to-date.

Great non-American Chinese

By Saba |

This is our second time at BoBos. Tucked in a corner of a strip mall. Our waiter Mill, was most helpful in helping us select some items. The shrimp were enormous and the black pepper seafood terrific. The snow pea leaves were very tasty. The oranges juicy and the fortune comes crisp. You won't find thick sauces or other Americanized Chinese fare

Decent Chinese Food~

By Belinda M |

Pretty solid place to get some Chinese food~ One of my good friends came to visit and I decided to give this place a go because of all of the great reviews I've heard of this place. We weren't that hungry so we only tried two dishes, split between three people. We ordered the mapo tofu and fried noodles with seafood. The mapo tofu was nothing out of the ordinary. It tasted kind of bland and seemed like it was missing something... The fried noodles with seafood was pretty good, but still nothing out of the ordinary. They did give us a decent sized plate to share with everyone though. Overall, it's your typical a-ok Chinese restaurant. I think service could have been a little better. We had to get up ourselves multiple times to get more napkins and our own boxes to box our food. Luckily we were seated at a place that was convenient to grab these items - which goes into another critique about the place. The environment wasn't comfortable for me to enjoy the meal. Maybe they were doing inventory that day, but they had all of the napkins, to go boxes, and utensils behind us... I wasn't overly impressed on my first visit here but I'll probably be willing to give this place another try in the future.

A good option

Very extensive and varied menu. Both familiar Chinese classics and exotic new discoveries. Good service. My shrimp dish, my wife’s chicken dish were both delicious.

Good Cantonese food at a good price!

By Jordan T |

Very authentic Cantonese cuisine. Price is bad, it is just like any other restaurants. Try their weekday lunch specials which is very cheap (more are less than $7). Famous for stir-fry and hot pot dishes. This is a place you need to try if you are in Atlanta.

one of the best Korean BBQ buffet ever!!

Excellent food. The serving are ample. The waitstaff was attentive and pleasant. We've been many times--never wrote a review until now--but the food is always good. Looking forward to visiting again.

Our Favorite Chinese Restaurant

By Stephen M |

My husband is Chinese, so we're quite particular about Chinese restaurants. This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Atlanta area. The food is always high quality & authentic, and the staff is very friendly. Their Stewed Pork Belly with Pickled Mustard is the best we've ever eaten.

Great takeout!

By JR H |

We were in the area visiting family and I decided to go pickup food for everyone. Ordered Mongolian Beef, Sauteed Duck Breast, Garlic Chicken, Dumpling Soup, and Dumplings (3 kinds). When we called in they said it would be ready in 20 minutes and when I got there it was ready, no wait. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We will definitely do it again. Only con is that it is tucked away in the corner of an expansive shopping center and was a little hard to spot, but no big deal.
