Vegan an/or plant based eaters can eat at Bob's

By bjt467 |

Went plant based month an a half ago, but had to treat myself to Bob's. They are known for their steaks, but I was able to have a great meal. Between the large salads, grilled salmon without butter, and veggie sides we had a very filling meal.

So Disappointing

By Claudine V |

Six of us were staying at Barton Creek Resort for a work retreat and I made reservations at Bob’s for the first evening. Honestly everything was disappointing and I was embarrassed as the only Austinite to have recommended Bob’s. The service was slow and underwhelming, the cocktails were too sweet, the steaks were all charred on the outside flavorless and every plate came with a ridiculously huge carrot (see pic). The atmosphere was dark and unremarkable. Based on this experience, I would not return.

Good Food but stupid up-charges

By richard g |

My wife and I ordered a $59 filet and a $72 bone in rib-eye for a special treat. Naturally, the bill for the 2 of us was about $200. Yet, they still charged me $3.00 for ice and $5.00 to shake the martini which brought the prices to about $18.00 . It's not that we can not afford the $3 or $5 it's just stupid that they don't build it into the price of the drink or charge you the $3.00 in a soft drink.

Great prime rib Steak

I love this place, I am a picky person when it comes to my steak. My food was cooked to perfection! Everyone is very friendly and polite. Excellent customer service!

Ate in the bar, great food and service

By Kristi C |

We stayed at Barton Creek Resort for the weekend and ate one dinner at Bob’s Chophouse, it was really good! We opted to eat dinner in the bar so we could watch the UT football game. The waiter and bartender were both fabulous. By the time we left our waiter felt like an old friend we would want to come back to visit, he took great care of us. And the bartender was so friendly and full of personality. She didn’t take care of us since we had a table, but we observed her genuine friendliness with each customer she helped. The food was great (even for the vegetarian and kids…get the mac and cheese!), the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Oh, and they serve Duck Horn cab by the glass. Happy me! I recommend.

Friday night dinner

Restaurants located at a beautiful resort. Overall I was disappointed. Good service, nice decor, most food good, expensive. We shared a 32 oz Wagyu style steak which cost around $100. Meat was grissly, not easily cut and chewed. Very disappointed with beef. The Sea Bass was good. The lobster bisque very good. Carrots, broccolini and potatoes were delicious. Bread good. The huge carrot cake was not very good or fresh. The Creme brûlée was good. Service was good. We spent over $300 for 4 and had a very poor selection of meat. Beef is their specialty. Would not return.

Expensive and just ok

My husband and I went to Bob's Steak & Chop House on a Wednesday evening. We both ordered the Ribeye steak $49. It came with mashed potatoes and a big sweet baked carrot. My steak was cooked perfect and was tasty but had lots of fat. My husband's steak was cooked perfect but very stringy. The mashed potatoes and carrot was good. The wait people were not wearing a mask or wearing them below their chin. It is a fancy restaurant and expensive. We probably will not be back.

Excellent food

My wife and I came here for our anniversary while staying at the Omni golf resort. They called us by name and told us happy anniversary on the way to the table. Our server, Allen, knew how many years it was and told us we could get a free appetizer or dessert. He is an exceptional server. Everything we ordered was spot on and excellent. Beef and fish cooked perfect and came out hot. My wife’s filet was melt in your mouth. We Loved the large loaf of bread and the jar of pickles and red bell peppers that were starters. And I can’t forget to mention the giant carrot! I never would have thought it would taste that good. We highly recommend this steakhouse when in this area. Doesn’t get much better.

Great as always!

We enjoyed a great birthday party the night we ate there. Service was outstanding as always and the food is always good.

The bread was delicious

By Fontaine |

The bread was great. Steaks were overcooked (medium rare ribeyes should be juicy not dry) and too salty. You should taste the meat, not the salt. Service: All steaks came out with wrong potatoes. We were given the dessert menu ten minutes after delivery of corrected meals. We were asked if we wanted dessert with the dirty plates in front of us. When we said no, they brought check, dirty plates still there. I actually had to ask to remove the plate so I could sign. No water refill. Noise: crazy loud because of small children at a party allowed to cry and scream. I should've realized there was a problem when I noticed we were the only table seated in the middle of the room, and everyone else was seated on the opposite end of the crying screaming children. I got up to speak to a manager, who didn't appear until our food was served. He said 'sorry, there's nothing I can do'. There's plenty he could do. In the hour we were there, I saw no food delivered to that table. Bring those kids something (and if they were done, hustle them out like you hustled us out). Have crayons and paper available. Offer a connecting room where they could bring the screaming child. Not once did a parent leave the room with a screaming child. For our inconvenience we were offered nothing. A piece of cake with a few forks would've been an acknowledgement of this bad situation. We had 3 steaks, 4 appetizers, 1 drink each, less than one hour before we were rushed out $450 with tip.

Not worth the money

I will first mention that they do not have a "kid's menu", but our toddler LOVED the mac and cheese. We found the steaks to be "just average" and we did not enjoy the Skillet fried potatoes - they were undercooked. The biggest complaint that we had was that the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail was delivered to the table SMOOTHERED in cocktail sauce - I have never had shrimp cocktail presented with the sauce on it, I had to use a napkin to wipe some off. The service was mediocre. We will not eat there again.

Great customer service

We were planning to host an event at this location, but we decided to use another venue. However, Rebecca Chlebowski - Private Dining Coordinator - was excellent to work with, and the event space, itself, is really nice!

Almost

By H2oVision |

They may have been busy and understaffed, but the Service was a bit sporadic. Steaks and sides were good, but not to the level we had the night before at Eddie V's. I'll be back later this year and will try again in hopes it was only and off night.

Service was fine. Go for room service if you’re at the Omni.

By JRHAlexandria |

Service was fine. Ambiance was lackluster. Food was ok, but not for the price. My prime ribeye would have only been prime at Denny’s. Everything was overly salty. Wine was way overpriced. If you’re at the Omni, would consider a different option. No way I would travel to eat here.

Birthday dinner missed the mark

By AlwaysGrateful1166 |

Expected more from a fine dining experience at Bob’s located at Omni Barton Springs. 6 of us dined on a Saturday evening celebrating 2 birthdays. Good: location if staying at the Omni Food decent but way overpriced Giant carrot surprisingly good Disappointing: Seated at table next to kitchen/server hangout Loud, not intimate Fried lobster (special that night) ridiculously priced - $100 and sooo not worth it, didn’t realize how much it was until we got our almost $600 bill Waiter brought the wrong wine and still charged the glasses Brussel sprouts over charred

Disappointed

By Clifford H |

Nice restaurant. Server was on point all night. Food was not worth the money. Steak charred but had correct doneness inside. Wife got yellow tail grouper and pretty sure it was cod. Bread was good. Skillet potatoes good. Carrot not very good. 18 Oz ribeye not 18oz

Good food and service

By Nick L |

Staying at the Omni, so we ate at Bobs which is at the hotel complex. Food was good; steaks particularly were very good. Service was very attentive and polite. Ambience is lacking a bit - the restaurant interior is nothing special. If you are staying at the OMNI - eat here, its good.

Top Shelf experience.

Great food, thoughtful service. A great place for a special meal. Had the large lobster as the appetizer for four. Excellent. Steaks were perfect. Like that unlike other steak houses you get a carrot and one side with each main.

Excellent food, well-intentioned service, thin room

By Jeff H |

In a nutshell, the steaks and onion rings and Brussels sprouts were sensational. However, the food portions are outrageous, perhaps part of the Bob's culture. Our server was very attentive. to the point of closing a door to a room next to us filled with (I kid you not) screaming guests. However, everyone at this restaurant is loud and jokey (again maybe part of the Bob's culture) rather than understated and refined. No big deal, they were caring and attentive. The schtick got to be a bit much though. The room feels thin. (Granted, there were spacing issues in place due to COVID, but still). Feels like those brand new condos with the thin, faux-mahogany accents here or there. For those used to established steakhouses, the room feels pretty one-dimensional. But the chef was on fire. One of the best steaks I've ever had. Same for the Brussels sprouts. Not cheap of course. But best meal we had at the Omni Barton Creek Resort.

Good service & food - like other Bob's Steaks

By LydiaDownUnder |

Food and service both were good. We've dined at other Bob's and this was up to par. Nice atmosphere but loud. As a dining couple, don't expect to converse much. Seems to be very popular and the nicest restaurant in this resort. Thought it unusual that we ordered a vintage wine and were given one from a different year. When we pointed it out, the waiter dismissed it saying they didn't have the one we ordered and this year was just as good. It should have been cheaper, but wasn't discounted.

The new location

By J E |

The new location is like all the others. Same menu and service. Same giant carrots. Brandon our server was friendly. Everyone at our table got a bake potatoes and they bring the fixings to you and put put them on for you. All steaks were cooked to order. You can use valet parking for free. Bob’s does char the outside of their steaks and that isn’t always what I would prefer but I know ttgat before I go. They do have other options besides steaks. We are glad this location is now open. Easier to get there vs the one down town.
