Good, could be better

By greggtex |

Food fair, service fair. Used to always rate a 4+. Shrimp big. A little bland. Maybe next time will be better.

Yum

By Steven C |

We always eat here when in Dallas. Nothing in our hometown compares to Bobo China. Freshest ingredients, service is always spot on.

Lake Highlands Pioneer

By HJV3 |

My wife and I wanted a quick dinner and remember Bo Bo. Bo Bo has been in the Lake Highlands section of Dallas since the 70s. Our service was attentive and the food excellent. The restaurant bills itself as mandarin style cuisine and doesn't disappoint.

They are open on Sunday

By Darin P |

Great food, My wife and I have eaten here at least 1 Sunday a month for the last 15 years. They have many dishes that we enjoy. We particularly like their Mings beef and their sizzling rice soup.

Awesome food, hole in the wall place

By Bowtiefan |

Came here today based on a craving a on the reviews I found on here and was not disappointed. View from the outside and approaching restaurant was a little iffy, but once inside was greeted, quickly sat, and waitress quickly arrived to get my order. Ordered the bobo chicken special, she informed me it did have a drumstick, bones, I have a dislike for chicken bones, and took her suggestion of the orange peel chicken, hot and sour soup and an eggroll. Everything was great, just enough food for me, big guy, and better than expected, Get here for your fix!

Bobo's offers some great cuisine in Lake Highlands

By AGEtraveler |

My wife and I finally got a chance to try Bobo China after several friends kept recommending it. We were not disappointed! The sweet and sour soup was awesome and had tofu, shrimp, and lots of veggies. One order filled up both of our bowls, so they provide generous portions. Make sure you try the Mongolian Beef - lots of positive reviews on that dish and it lives up to the hype. We also ordered the orange chicken and rice, which was good and had a great sauce but didn't have quite the wow factor as the Mongolian Beef. We'll be back!

Won't eat other Chinese now!

By Melissa K |

This place will ruin you on Chinese! Every time I eat Chinese elsewhere, I am disappointed and left craving Bobo's. The egg rolls are real, not spring rolls.

Great Food, but beware of credit card use if from out of town.

By Godsdevan |

Great Food, but beware of credit card use if from out of town. We've eaten at Bobo China for years and always enjoy the good food and fast friendly service. They are walking distance from my office so we're regulars. They get us in and out quickly. However, we also had an incident in 2007 or 2008 that was never proven to be them. When my mom came to town we went there and she paid with her credit card. The girl at the front asked for her home zip code which seemed innocent enough. When my mom got her bill there were hundreds of dollars of phone calls to China. Coincidence? Maybe. However, when she came back about 3-6 months later and we ate their again... Yep, you guessed it. Fortunately, both times her credit card company denied the bill and she was protected, but we both know it wasn't a coincidence. All I know is that it's never happened to me or any local I know, but out of towners should use cash or better yet let someone else pay! I love the food, but that incident put a bad taste in my mouth.

Pot stickers, so good!

By JDH82329 |

Hard to pick a title so I'll start with the appetizer. Pot stickers, were amaking! Could have been enough right there. The food is a fantastic value, amazingly fresh and hot. The lemon chicken was wonderful, and the sweet and sour chicken was also very good! i definately recommend you try this resturant!

Good Lunch

By Dean C |

The food was very good and service was great. The owners and manager were very nice catering to each customers needs on the spot. I ordered and it did not take 10 min for my food to come out. Very impressed

A trip through the Hunan Region of China

By Jim D |

A surprising adventure unfolded as we sat down to eat. The food, a mixture of Anhui and Hunan cuisine, was delicious and the beautiful ambiance was equal to the service. The wait staff was alert and responsive to our every need. After looking at our bill we agreed, the price was right. My family loves Chinese food so you can bet we will be back.

Maybe it was a bad day...

By Travelingmelinda |

Yesterday we went to Bobo for take-out and were very disappointed. Over the years we have enjoyed Bobo so I don't quite know what to make of this. We had Moo goo gui pan, Happy Family, spicy beef and Orange chicken. The sauce on the Orange chicken was good but the chicken was over cooked and very tough. The other three were the same taste with a few differing ingredients except that the spicy beef had some red pepper flecks thrown in. All had a fairly tasteless corn starch based clear sauce - and this for $50! We will not do this again.

Best in Dallas!

By Chris M |

This is by far our favorite Chinese place in the Dallas area! We usually go a couple of times a month it had Never disappointed! We've been eating here for around 10 years now and just love it. We usually get the dinner for 2 special. You get the awesome sizzling soup, pot stickers, and 2 entrees. Always enough left over for later. Best pot stickers we have ever had and the soup is Great as well! You get all that and tea for $30! Can't go wrong! Service is Always Great!

Mr. Warren Tiplady

By Warren T |

This was our (with my wife, Terry), first visit to the "Bobo". I had the Lemon Chicken and Terry had the Curried Shrimp (combo). Time was c. 3:45 Saturday afternoon. In comparison to ALL other so-called Chinese restaurants that we have tried in Dallas, this one was simply the VERY BEST by far! Superbly presented and timely served by a friendly accommodating server. The general 'food standard' that we could see was defenitly high-end, and obviously cooked by a dedicated experienced chef! (Seemingly rather rare in this town)! SUMMERY: We both just loved it. We WILL be returning frequently.

tasty food, good service and fast

By mahanh2018 |

I had lunch at this spot. Garlic chicken was very good. Hot and Sour soup just right. Service was top notch as I got an item to-go and it was packaged well. I think this place has recently re-opened in Fall 2019.

Great food

By tmsvan2 |

Excellent food in the east Dallas / Lakewood area. Apparently, this place has been around for a long time and has a long standing reputation of serving great food at a great price. Service was excellent as well.

nostalgic

By kelliweingarten |

Growing up in Murray Utah was great. We had a lovely Chinese restaurant we always went to call South Seas that reminded my mom of the places they went when they lived in Honolulu. Bobo China reminds me of South Seas. The decor, the service and the food is excellent. The Ginger Beef was fabulous. Slowly but surely we will try everything. We definitely recommend them.

Curried Shrimp really Good

By chamagnegangster |

Had other things @ restaurant not really impressed but I strongly suggest the Curried Shrimp! They are also very quick w/ orders!

Has been consistently good for years and years.

By Travelingmelinda |

I went with a group of 8 and ordering off the lunch menu, we all had different things and were all happy. The price for the amount of food is extremely reasonable. Don't let the plastic food displays on the way in throw you. They are not indicative of the food. The day we were there the waitress was in way too big a hurry, even making us stop eating to get the bill paid. She was also not patient with questions.

Go to Friday night date spot

By codegrl40 |

Love love love the Mongolian beef and the soups. Waitresses are very attentive and sweet. Open late and not that expensive, the ambiance is very unique. Lots to look at. Always people there but never so crowded that it's too many so that you can't hear the person across from you. Been many times on date nights and dinners with family. Good every time.

Best Chinese sit down restaurant in Texas!!

By barbsy5014 |

This is by far the best in Texas! From Brownsville on up to Dallas, then to east Texas...Only drawback is they are closed on Mondays...We are making a special trip to Dallas on Tuesday for late lunch or early supper.. Food is prepared when ordered, never on a steam table...You can even watch them prepare your food...Price is no object when we go to BoBo's. May be a bit pricey, but you get your money's worth! Willing to drive 120 miles just for dinner at BoBo's!! Sweet and sour shrimp is my personal favorite, delicious!

our "go to" place for chinese

By steve s |

been coming here since '77. a month doesn't go by that we do not eat there. they have it all. love the atmosphere

Excellent

By Rebecca F |

My family eat at Bobo China at least three times a month and it is always excellent. We usually go for lunch because they have great prices and they give you a lot of food. Definitely recommend this place.

Not the same BoBo’s I grew going to

By James B |

After 40 years of coming here and bringing family and friends it’s not the same. Don’t know when ownership change, but the ole woman usually at the front is rude, waitress couldn’t take an order correctly, table cloth was dirty and who knows the last time it was changed. I have been coming here since I was five for the Mongolian beef because it was crispy and delicious. Not any more, same stuff you get at a buffet, soggy meat minus the crispy noodles, sizzling rice soup bland, pot stickers chewy. You use to be able to get the dinner for two for $20 with tea, now it’s $31 with no tea. Price would not be a big deal if the service and food had not change.. lol the only thing that has not changed in 40 years are the fake food dishes displayed when you walk in the front door. So long Bo Bo. :-(

I stopped for lunch had cashew chicken. Great flavor and a large amount of food. Not a great deal of cashews but still good. Good quality Chinese lunch I would return.

Fantastic

By texas75287 |

My wife and I eat at Bobo China when we get to that side of the Metroplex. Some of the best Traditional Chinese food you can find in the DFW area. The service has always been top notch. Only wish we could go more often...

pork fu young is amazing

By Andrea L |

I have been eating here since the early 80's. Most of the staff is the original staff, they are always nice and courteous. the food is amazing. We ordered the Pork fu young for the first time and is was by far the best thing I have ever eaten. Just a great family Chinese restaurant.

Great food every time.

By just2bria |

My family has been going to BoBo for over 30 years now. I have childhood memories of their potstickers! In all that time the decor has not changed. They even have the same plastic food in the display case which is nostalgic to me. Don't be discouraged by the rundown appearance of the restaurant itself. The food is excellent. The service is attentive, friendly and always welcoming.

They retired...

By GrapevineEscape |

We are so sad to see Bobo China close after all of these years. Such wonderful food and people. We wish them a wonderful future and we will never forget Bobo China!

Consistantly Great Chinese Food

By Daniel L |

I have been here a few times, and every time I come here it is always great. I have had a variety on their menu and I still haven't found anything I haven't liked. The service is quick, respectful, and friendly. Great place for lunch or dinner.

Too salty

By BrussoDallas |

This restaurant has been in our neighborhood forever so we finally decided to try it. We figured there had to be a reason it has been open so long. The portions are HUGE! Had we known this before we ordered we would have only ordered one item. But instead we each ordered something and it seriously could have fed 5 people. We tried the Hunan Chicken, which was ok, we'd probably try something different if we came back. And then we also ordered the chicken Lou Mein which inedible it was so salty! I'm glad we tried it but I doubt we'll be back.

Great food, nice little restaurant, too bad no delivery...

By aaronstew |

We have lived in the area for 3 years now, have all along been looking for a good local, Chinese restaurant. Tried Bobo last week. And it was GREAT! So glad we finally tried it the only thing I can think about to even consider complaining about is, no delivery. But that's ok it's worth the drive for takeout even. We will be back! Btw, we had the mongolian beef which was excellent, and kung pao chicken, also very good.

Excellent Food and Atmosphere!!!

By Five_Aces_Tx |

(review from a local) This is my favorite place to go for Chinese food. Far too often I see Chinese places that come and go and the two things that I notice is they don't have real atmosphere and they don't get a chance to build some history. Bobo China has been around since 1975 and they have the old school atmosphere. It's reasonably priced, good and they get the food to you fast. Don't bother ordering an appetizer because they get the main course to you in about five minutes. Also, they serve it "family style" (huge plates of food to share with everyone at the table) so take that into consideration when you order (you will probably be a taking a lot of it "to go") and when looking at the prices (which are reasonable).

New Owners and Still Good

By Mike B |

Bo Bo China has been around since the 70's. I've eaten there many times over the years. They have always had good food. I was distressed to hear that after all of these years that they had sold to new owners the first of this year. My worries were unfounded. I have eaten there three times since then and the food is still great and the service is attentive and pleasant. Have dined there with groups of friends and no one has had a complaint. The outside looks a little seedy but the inside has been remodeled. Still recommenced and can't wait for my next visit.

Christmas Eve

By Laurie D |

We have gone to Bobo China on Christmas Eve in the past and it has always been very good. This visit was a little disappointing. They must have gotten advance notice that everyone in NW Dallas was coming, as they had so many cooks in the kitchen that they were falling over each other. It was not particularly cold that night, but they allowed the people waiting for a table to overflow into the dining area. I felt like at any moment someone would sit down and eat with us. I have always felt the food was excellent, however, this time service was rushed and the food so so. We ordered hot and sour soup. It was very good, but before we finished it, our dishes came out. The orange beef was not crisp, but the sauce was good. One of us attempted to order a crispy noodle with beef that they saw being prepared in the kitchen. What we got was a version of that, but the beef was so fried, it resembled bacon. The third dish was snow white chicken. It was very good. We were given one small bowl of white rice and never asked if we needed more. I know they were trying to move us along so they could seat another group, and that really didn't bother us, but that night the food was disappointing. It won't be the last time we eat there as normally the food is excellent .

Consistently good every time

By Krobar7 |

A client introduced me to BoBo's a year ago. I've eaten there 5 times, he's eaten there for close to 30 years. I'm sorry to say I've only tried #31 - a spicy chicken plate, litely wok fried chicken strips with vegies. it's so good, I can't bring myself to order something else. Last trip, others in our group ordered cashew chicken and a chow mein. All were super. I've only been Monday thru Friday for lunch. I understand the dinners are good and very large. Closed Saturday afternoon when I tried to bring my wife for lunch. By the way, the building has been there a long time. It looks fine from the outside, but the interior has been regularly updated and very nice. I'm not sure what the framed jigsaw puzzle of a Russian Orthadox church in the back room has to do with Asian cuisine, but that can be overlooked.

Best Chinese Food Ever.

By jmutt59 |

This has got to be the best Asian food anywhere. We usually order the dinner for two with hot tea and egg rolls. Very inexpensive and the wait staff it great. The food is never premade it is always made when ordered so it is always fresh.

Horrible Horrible, Greasy, and unbearable customer service.

By travelreviewer09 |

The food was horrible. Soooooooooo greasy and salty. This is not the same food. Avoid at all cost ! I think they have been bought by someone new. Just not the same food taste.

Amazing!

By Heather W |

The food was just amazing! Some of the best Chinese food we have had in a long time! Reasonably priced as well!! You can't go wrong here!

FAVORITE FOR CHINESE FOOD

By TEXAS R |

My husband I eat here weekly. The food is fresh and portions are huge! We always get the Mongolian Beef and Wonton Soup - Delicious! Highly recommend.... Price of food per ratio... awesome!

Good food but usually brusque unfriendly service

By Pat E |

A friend turned me on to this hole in the wall almost 40 years ago when hole in the wall restaurants were extremely vogue. Food is fantastic and fairly inexpensive but service counts a lot to when I pay. When it is my choice I choose a more friendly wait staff as after all I am not a connoisseur of Chinese food so most Chinese restaurant cooks can not mess up Mu Shu Pork, Mongolian Beef or Sweet and sour pork. Hey, when you find something you like... stick with it. Often Chinese wait staff @ Bobo China are brusque and lack the professional friendless I expect when giving someone my money. For years thought all Chinese people were like that? Sure they could really give a flip since most pack in for their great Chinese food.

Lunch after church

By Ranchman58 |

I have been coming to BoBo China since the late 70’s. It’s been 25 years since I was here last. It hasn’t changed. Beef egg roll-excellent, hot and sour soup-excellent, fried pot stickers-excellent, Hunan Beef-excellent, and Snow White Chicken-excellent. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. I will not wait another 25 years before I eat here again. Great restaurant with excellent food and service.

BEST POT STICKERS IN DALLAS

By FrequentFlier10150 |

The best pot stickers in Dallas. I grew up on them! They are large and can be ordered steamed or fried! (Fried are the best to me) They have more meat than vegetables which I enjoy and the special sauce is wonderful!

Bobo's good after all these

By David H |

A group of four friends dropped in late afternoon on Christmas Eve. There were no crowds and the welcome was sincere. We all shared a pupu tray for four. Additionally, my husband had hot and sour soup. Then we ordered four different main courses. Each dish was served family style. Each was distinct from the other and freshly made, well seasoned and hot out of the kitchen. Everything was very good and obviously made to order by a knowledgeable chef. The orange beef was a standout. The service was exceptional and rice, water and tea were replenished as needed. Leftovers were packed up to take home without being requested. We have frequented this restaurant for years and are happy to say that it hasn't declined, as most of the Dallas area Chinese restaurants have, in the run to Chinese buffets. This is a very nice family restaurant with high quality food and service.
