Can’t get enough! I make it a habit to visit Bono’s every visit and I long for the mussels Such great flavor and service. Edgar at the bar was delightful . We also had the branzino which was great.

Dress nice and expect high prices. The food was pretty good and it is a local favorite. It had a fun theme to the place and the service staff was great.

We visited this lovely restaurant 12 years ago and had an amazing meal. So much so the we wrote a review here on Trip Advisor. We are writing again to let you know that Bobo’s certainly lived up to their reputation. Again, we had the Filet Mignon and it was the best that we have had since the last time. Hats off and many thanks for this amazing meal.

Perhaps our expectations were set too high as we had heard from a few people that this is the best place for steak in San Francisco. Unfortunately, we had a much better steak experience two evenings earlier at another place. We got the "double mussels double shrimp" appetizer and a bone-in rib eye. For sides, we got "brussels sprouts" and "modern mac & cheese". The mussels were excellent. The rest of the dish was good but confusing because it didn't match the description of the dish. There were a few (very) small shrimp but there were also a few crabs legs that dwarfed the shrimp. We ate the crab but did not particularly enjoy it. We were warned that the steak was going to be a bit fatty with an explanation of "that's how it is this time of year" (it was not that way at other steakhouses in the area). The steak was indeed, extremely fatty. Not marbled, but with bit globs of fat rather than meat for significant portions of the cut. The sides were good and the wine was great (a Jordan cab). The people I was dining with did not like the atmosphere but I did not mind. We were in a smallish room with five tables in it. It was dimly lit and decorated with images of court jesters. We did not take a long time to eat but when we were finishing up, we were offered a free drink to vacate the table. However, the bar was so crowded (it is a very small space), we decided not to take our free drinks (I don't think we've ever refused free drinks, LOL!).

I recently brought my girl friend into bobo's for some drinks before our dinner reservation! We ended up at bobo's lounge where we had Sylvia helping us! We both had 3 drinks each & every creation she came up with was delicious and perfectly balanced! Between the perfect drinks, perfect smile, and excellent service we both knew we would be back very soon! Thank you Sylvia for taking such great care of us! You provided us a memorable experience as well a great start to our evening!

Pros: Bone-In Fillet is Excellent, Intimate atmosphere Cons: Non steak options are only OK Bobo's had a very good reputation in San Francisco; and it deserves it as it has excellent food, and a very unique atmosphere for a steakhouse. Rather than a chic, modern decor, Bobos is more old-world, and intimate. The restaurant is made up of a number of rooms linked together that give it its intimate feeling. The styling is older and unremarkable. The steaks at Bobo's are very good, even for a premium steakhouse, and the bone in fillet is worth trying. The rest of the food is only average, and if your not having a steak I really wouldn't go to Bobo's

Excellent service and dinner. Fillet’s, crab, Swiss chard, Brussel sprouts and sweet potato were delicious. Service was excellent. Would absolutely recommend for a great steak dinner.

BoBo's was delicious and cute! I wasn't expecting such a unique ambiance. The bone-in filet was delicious. Our table also ordered crab and steak tartare. They bread was delicious and the wine menu was great. 10/10 would steak again.

We had reservations at another steak restaurant, but a colleague told me I absolutely MUST go to Bobo's so we cancelled the others and came here. Should have kept the other reservation. We were visiting SF and were taking recommendations which how I found out about Bobo's. I think the first sign we might have made a bad choice was the business right next door... "Bobo's Burgers", and honestly, probably would have had a better meal if we went there. We were expecting a "nicer" restaurant and we dressed for the occasion. If you are going to Bobo's, jeans and T-shirt are enough. We showed up 30 minutes early and fortunately, they were able to take us right away. I would find out later why. It's pretty dark but you can more or less read the menu without any extra light. The menu looked appetizing enough. Because we had heard so much about this place, we wanted to sample quite a bit and started off with the crab/spinach fondue and crab cocktail; "Baby Blue" salad; and I had the bone-in filet (medium rare) and my friend had the bone-in rib eye (medium rare). For a side, we had the "creamy dutch smashed potatoes". We went with a bottle of Pinot the server recommended. To start, within minutes of our server leaving, someone was bringing steaks to our table. We hadn't even received one of the appetizers but realized, these weren't the steaks we ordered. Okay, mistakes happen, but seriously, you can't get your tables straight? The crab/spinach fondue was good but the crab cocktail was average at best. The crab didn't taste fresh. It wasn't 'bad' but just didn't have a fresh taste to it and this is coming from someone who used to catch dungeness crab as a kid. The server brought out the wine, and frankly... it was just okay. Sadly, it was a $160 bottle and we would have been better off bringing our own and paying a corking fee. The wine list on their website is not up to date with their availability or the prices. Shocking a place like this does not have a sommelier, nor a more extensive wine selection given their proximity to Napa. We asked the server for suggestions and he simply pointed to the three most expensive bottles. I'm good with that as long as the wine is GOOD, but this server didn't seem to know much about wine. After pointing to the three most expensive, I asked which would he recommend. I mean he had our order so he knows what we are eating and we told him what we like, but he just kept pointing to the three most expensive. I asked him three times and he just shrugged his shoulders. We were still enjoying the appetizers when they came in with the baby blue salad. Now I get the "baby" reference. Instead of a traditional wedge salad, these were two little balls of lettuce with just a teaspoon of a blue cheese dressing and a couple of bacon bits. Again, we are trying to enjoy the appetizers and now the salad but now here comes the steaks! Wow, I've had more paced out service at a Denny's! Now they are crowding the table with way too many plates; we are clearly not finished with anything but had to have them take most of the plates away just to accommodate the main dishes. Really sad! The steaks looked good, although I had ordered mine with a blue cheese melted atop and that didn't happen. My friends rib eye was probably about 50% fat. YES, I know rib eye's are marbled with fat, but I'm talking about just solid pieces of fat! Not the fat marbled in with the meat. My fillet was good, but far from being one of the best steaks I've ever had. And the "creamy" smashed potatoes? These were just fingerling type potatoes that had been deep fried and then baked for a little bit and someone took a mallet and "smashed" them to flatten them out. That's it!!! Creamy?!? Where's the creamy part? They don't some in any type of sauce and they aren't "mashed". Horrible side! They lack many traditional sides you would expect at a "fine" steak restaurant; asparagus, sauteed mushrooms (they do have mushrooms but instead of crimini type mushrooms, they use massive portabello mushrooms. No baked potato but they do have a baked yam? No hollandaise sauce, no Bearnaise sauce. VERY disappointed after spending nearly $500 for two people. And the whole time we were being rushed with our food. Not a very pleasant dining experience for what is supposed to be a "high end" restaurant. If you are visiting SF like we were, I do NOT recommend this restaurant and don't believe all the hype if you are a true connoisseur of fine dining and truly good food.

So I had read a good deal of reviews on several sites -- looked like you either loved the place or hated it, so walked in with an open mind, waiting to embark on our individual adventure. Please note, this res was for Thanksgiving day.... Greeted quickly and seated within 3 minutes. Waiter was friendly and explained the featured items on the menu. Waitstaff throughout our visit was pretty darned perfect - cleared items from table and made sure water was in our glasses. Started with splitting single order of mussels flat iron with the "garlic bread" - absolutely marvelous! When they ask if you want the soy infused whatever sauce doused on them -- say yes! gave them a great added bit of flavor but not overpowering salty soy taste. In retrospect, I would have made this my entree - maybe even doubled up on them - a positive experience perfectly split for two. Enjoy the garlic olive bread that is included (don't know if you can order it as it's own item) -- but that bread came in handy throughout the evening. For appetizers we each ordered a different soup - a crab bisque and the lobster yellow curry infused soup and split the blue blue salad -- two small iceberg lettuce medallions with a small dollop of blue cheese, bc dressing and some pancetta bits on each lettuce. If the waiter asks if you want to space out your appetizer delivery from your entree, or bring it all at once -- definitely split them into their respective times -- you won't have space on the table for all of your dishes at once. charge me 14 bucks for a salad, I'm going to expect a bit more bleu cheese/ dressing than I received. Salad came before soup but not a biggie for us. As for the soups -- eehhh, okay, but there was just hints of sea-meats and soup seemed a little thin and they looked like the same stock -- not sure bisque should look like a yellow curry soup... just used a piece of that garlic bread to sop up the remainder of the soup.and was satisfied. Up to this point, I was relatively satisfied with the meal. Then came the entrees. My friend ordered the angel hair pasta crab lasagna and asked the waiter to explain it, he just mentioned that it's good and offered an indication of the dimensions. I ordered the New York steak and mentioned to waiter I like just a bit of pink so medium but on the "hotter" side. This place holds itself out as a steak place, and I gave them the benefit of the doubt despite _all_ the reviews I read that indicated their steaks were not delivered at the temperature ordered , with various descriptions of what transpired if the steak was requested to be returned. Unfortunately, I fell victim to the undercooked population of those types of reviews. My steak was very much on the rare side of medium rare and internally cold. And I still can't understand why it was so difficult to cut through the steak!! was it the meat? Was it a terrible knife? Either way, it didn't matter - I was already over the steak and decided I'd be taking it home as a leftover for a friend that would appreciate that temp of steak. I wasn't going to go through the hassle of sending it back, extending time for my friend to be in limbo waiting for me to receive my meal in whatever possible altered states i remember from reviews I read. As for my friend's "lasagna" dish -- there was no "lasagna" content involved -- just a casserole of angel hair pasta, crab meat in a very cheesy/tomato sauce. Enjoyed but nothing that the title of the dish described. For what they charge, there is absolutely no excuse for them ignoring a customer's temp request if they claim to be a steak house. Naturally, after such a _costly_ entree experience, we were turned off to any idea of coffee, dessert or port, etc. afterward. Hello - figure it out -- give me a bad entree, won't be ordering any of those profitable add-ons beyond that! Wasn't shocked at final bill (looked at menu before arriving) but very disappointed about the fundamental principle of a high-end restaurant disregarding customer requests. If you still decide to explore this restaurant, I suggest the flat iron grilled mussels -- perhaps with an addition of shrimp or crab -- as your entree. But for overall value, consider other options.

My friends took me here for my birthday. It started off very exciting ... our blood always boils with the thought of crabs and meat! We ordered a bottle of wine, Lots of Crabs, Whole Crab and Mussels, Bone in Fillet plus sides to share, and some desserts. The bill came to 400 dollars for three people. Within 10 minutes all of our food came out at once. The whole crab with mussels were served on the hot plate. Watching the smoke come off the hot plate was deceiving. While the plate was hot, the crab was cold and dry. The mussels were over cooked and shriveled to crispness. The lots of crabs was drizzled in some garlic sauce and while it wasn't as dry as the other crab, it was also cold! I liked the flavor of the steak, but it was as well cold. Actually, all of our food were cold. That's the end of it. Our experience with the dessert was not anything better. I forgot what the name of the desserts were, but both had waffles. All I can say is that no matter how good the filling is, if the waffle is stale and soft, the whole thing tastes horrible! So service --- horrible horrible horrible! The experience for the main courses was okay, except no one offered more bread and we couldn't get anyone's attention to ask for more bread. It's when the dessert came that things got really weird. Since one of our desserts had sorbet in it and none of us wanted to touch it because of the stale waffle, all the sorbet melted. The other dessert also had half of it left untouched...due to the stale waffles. Our waitress came by looked at our plate and instead of asking if everything was okay, said "looks like you loved your desserts!" Then she cleared the table. We laughed it off and kept on with our evening and conversation. No one came back to offer to close our ticket not to ask if we wanted anything else. We had to flag someone down to order coffee. In fact our waitress never came back. When we didn't know what to do, we grabbed a random gentleman who seem to be working there to ask for more coffee. I actually think he was either the manager or the owner. He looked at us, snickered and said, "people are waiting for your table and you want more coffee?...*snicker*...okay!" We took that as our cue to leave. But no one came by with the bill! We had to ask for it! The though crossed my mind that we should have just left without paying, but that my end is up in a place worse than where we were...or would it have? Hmmm ... The best part of the evening was when my friend and I were outside the restaurant discussing how we were kicked out after a 400 dollar bill to help the restaurant turn over tables. The guy that kicked us out approached us! He wanted to tell us that he was sorry he had to do it, but they needed to make sure they get a good turn over! It was the biggest fake smile and apology I have ever seen! Not sure how he wanted us to respond.

We were excited to eat here. The service was slow up to and delivery of the meal. The seafood was terrible. The mussels were overlooked. They tasted as they had not been washed. The shrimp was not deshelled , burnt to the tray, and over cooked. The service was terrible and the waiter never came back. Our glasses were dry. The manager was no help. Upon complaining the manager came back with the check and would not even give it to me. Then we had to wait again for someone to take the ticket. I am a business traveler that circles the globe. Do not come here looking like a tourist. You will be treated that way. Again, the on duty manager with the white hair and blue striped dress shirt was worthless.

Bobo's Lounge is next to the main restaurant, Bobo's Steakhouse, which doesn't need a lot of explanation what they offer. The lounge probably mirrors some of the food you can get in the main restaurant. I tried the crab enchilada, it was great although not cheap. I would still pay for it again as it deserved every dollar I paid for it.

Plan on spending a small fortune, but it's worth it. A lot of locals frequent this restaurant, it's a very quaint and romantic setting.

We went as a family of 5 after making reservations on OpenTable. We sat at a booth table on the second floor. We had the filet mignon, brussel sprouts and Swiss chard. Every steak was cooked perfectly and delicious. Tender and well seasoned. The sides were equally delicious, and well seasoned. My kids had the mango panocotta and Blood orange sorbet - they had every bite with double thumbs up. I had the tiramisu which was very good. Our waiter, Aladdin was extremely attentive (filling our glasses, clearing our plates, etc) even though he was busy with the other tables on the floor. Excellent service! We would definitely visit again.

Great place. Amazing atmosphere. Amazing staff. Amazing food. Had the bone-in stake. It's not cheap, but worth every penny (or is it cent?).

My husband, sister and I had Christmas Eve dinner at Bobo's. We made our reservation through Open Table. The day before I re-confirmed my reservation and requested for a ground floor table. The reservations clerk rushed through the conversation so I had initial misgivings on whether I selected the right restaurant. Upon arrival, I saw there was free valet parking. Big plus for a San Francisco restaurant. We were greeted by a very amiable hostess and had a very courteous waitress. A far cry from the reservations clerk the day before. I had the petite filet mignon; husband had the bone-in; and my sister had the half crab order. We had the iron-grilled mussels for appetizers. We all shared a bottle of wine. No doubt the restaurant is pricey. Cocktails, meal, wine, and one dessert cost around $100 per person. Nevertheless exceptional dining for a special occasion.

My fiancé and I are well-traveled and never shy away from a decadent steak dinner, so when I say this place has set the bar for us, I mean it. We love bone-in filets, but not many places carry them. Bobo's has the best one we've ever eaten. The meat is sublimely flavorful, but what makes Bobo's bone-ins unforgettable is the lack of fat within the cut. I've never eaten a leaner bone-in filet. To take the meal to the next level, the steak is accompanied with the most delicious crab claws covered in an amazing sauce. I can't describe how amazing this meal was. Just go! I cannot wait to get back to Northern CA, simply to eat at Bobo's again. Bravo!

The bad experience started at front door with Kim as she sat us down. We had made reservations for our family of seven two weeks prior and she goes to sit us down in 3 tables put together to sit 6 people grabs a place setting from another table to squeeze the 7th person all while Im there to sit down. When my daughter asked if there was another option she told my daughter to go upstairs and check herself with an attitude. We decided to just leave it as it was. Experience from that point on did not get any better, when my son in law asked for his ribeye well done the waiter rudely said no that he would not cook the steak that way instead of explaining. Our other 4 steaks filet with bone in were raw and even when my son sent his back it still was not done properly. I must say the bus boy was the positive exception. Even the supposedly famous garlic bread was stale and cold. I hope that this was an off nigh however I have read other reviews that match mine. I will not return.

I decided to eat at Bobo's The Steak, The Crab restaurant due to their highly acclaimed rating of having the best steak in the Country! The experience was nothing less then fantastic, I ordered the Porterhouse Steak, which is the New York and Filet Mignon, nothing short of outstanding! Meat was very tender and flavorful. In addition, I had a Twice Baked Potato and finished it off with a Italian (Imported) Cheese Cake, both were just as unbelievable as the steaks. You can't go wrong with Bobo's, the food is fantastic and well worth the high-end expense of having dinner there.

Best steak ever! Bone-in-filet was incredible! Tender, moist, marbled and finished perfectly! I would recommend to anyone into the best steaks ever.

This restaurant was pre booked for us in February 2015 as a 50th birthday gift. It had already been pre-paid for and we were so looking forward to it on our holiday to San Francisco as we had been told many great things about this place. The Restaurant was cosy when we first arrived for our booking at 19.30. We were shown to our table and noted it was very close to another table for two. The French waiter asked if we had been before and he explained about the menu and the steaks. I asked if the twice baked potatoes which I heard good things about had any cheese in them and the waiter confirmed it did have cheese in it. I said was allergic to cheese. After taking our order for drinks my wife ordered the crispy crab cakes and I ordered lobster crostini as our starters. We both ordered steak and my wife ordered the twice baked potatoes and I ordered baked yam as a side dish. When the crab cakes arrived they were flavourless and the crusts burnt not crispy. My lobster crostini arrived with a dip that tasted suspiciously of cheese. When I asked the waiter what the dip contained he said Italian cheese. I could not believe this as I already informed him I was allergic to cheese. Needless to say I avoided this. Another couple arrived and were shown to the table adjacent to ours. We were eating our starters at this time. I was surprised when their starter shortly followed by their main meal arrived before our main meal and then noted as the waiter was having a personal conversation with them, that he knew the couple. We waited forty minutes for our main course to arrive. The bone-in filet mignon arrived and I have to say it was probably the best I have ever tasted. The baked Yam was adequate but unfortunately I had to share this with my wife as her twice baked potato never arrived. I wanted to ask where it was but as we had waited 40 minutes for our main course to arrive we didn’t want another delay in having the potato arrive when my wife had eaten her steak. The waiter at no stage never came back to ask if we were happy with our meal. All in all it was a extremely disappointing experience and could have proved fatal if I had eaten the cheese. We were very surprised to be presented with a bill after our meal as my son had got a work colleague who lives in San Francisco to prepay for the meal as it was a birthday gift. My son had informed us that the meal was fully paid for in advance. His colleague had personally taken the money into the restaurant and given it to one of the managers as they would not accept prepayment on a credit card from my son in the UK. The manager on the night informed us that the money had not been paid, that someone was supposed to come in with the money in advance of our meal but that they had not turned up and they were unable to contact them by phone. This was very embarrassing and upsetting and we had to pay the bill on the night. I was particularly upset with the manager and told her that she should have told us that she was going to present us with a bill and given us the opportunity to make a decision for ourselves. We contacted our son the next day and he confirmed that the money had been paid by his colleague. The colleague informed us that one manager had not passed on the message to another manager and said they would e mail us and phone us to apologise and would refund the money they had taken from us. Two days had passed and we went off travelling to Yosemite, so cell coverage was a bit of a problem, however I found an email address for making reservations at the restaurant and emailed them asking them to contact me and/or re-credit my card. It’s now 6 weeks on from that episode and I have never received a call or email or a refund. I did consider contacting the police at one point as I would consider what they have done as being fraudulent in keeping my money. Eventually my son’s colleague who lives in San Francisco probably got so fed up with me emailing him saying they were just a bunch of crooks he has personally paid the money back to me and himself is trying to claim it back from the restaurant. I expected better from a restaurant with such a good reputation, and I will certainly not be recommending anyone I know to go there. It’s such a shame that they can treat tourists this way as I thoroughly enjoyed everything thing I experienced in the wonderful city of San Francisco.

From the minute we sat down and we're offered the amazing bread, I knew this restaurant was going to live up to the hype. My wife and adult son and I enjoyed everything about Bobos. My wife is still bragging about her Moscow mule, saying it was one of the best she has ever had. A sentiment that was expressed often during the night! We all had different sizes of the filet. All were ... one of the best steaks we had ever eaten. I would agree it's not cheap, but for a special occasion, it's definitely worth it. Strongly recommend.

Early 6:00 pm dinner after a beautiful Nice that they have valet parking! We had reservations, but obviously the host had it checked our table preferences. Still got a nice enough small table for two. Talking about the table, thick padded, so thick that I feared for the wine bottle to tip over. Both wine glasses which were set where dirty, the water glasses stained and worn. The view over the busy street and a motel across made me almost regret my preference for a window table, but I digress. Waiter was friendly and efficient. We stated with champagne, just okay ,.., and ordered wine and starters. The starters came quickly, to quick to pass for fresh prepared. Crab crostini on salmon, tomatoes and avocado and some burrata - the crab meet fresh and good, the salmon not bad; the burrata quite good, but no refinement in plaiting and the combined flavors not great. Baby tomato basket something for the second starter, taste good, plaiting again very very uninspiring. The tomatoes had been sitting in the oil and vinegar for quite some time one could tell. Alright, we ordered steaks, dry aged bone-in New York medium rare and bone-in Ribeye medium and a side of Brussels sprouts. The steaks arrived, again awful plaiting - just thrown on a plate and some jus from the pan tossed over.... :( Quality and taste: the New York was supposedly dry aged, well the fine print does read "up to 6 weeks" I guess mine only had a week behind it before it ended up n my plate, the meat quality not bad, a too close to medium , not med-rare. The taste just so so, meat, salt, pepper my guess, the jus in the plate greasy ... Pass! My gf had the Ribeye, medium - closer to medium well, tougher than my NY - sad. Taste : meat, salt, pepper ( the pepper is just a guess btw) we added both some. Same look on the sad plate just done jus right out of the pan. Some may like this home cooked style, I ask for a restaurant that aspires to stand out to be a bit more sophisticated in all aspects plaiting. It doesn't need to be a side but a little decoration, a simple twig of slightly charred rosemary or a little reduced sauce would have been so simple and so effective to make this look less canteen. The side of broccoli, again home style without any twist. The wine was good, well chosen by us to go with steak, and it was the highlight of the dinner. I tried desert, chocolate mouse cones - actually good and the plaiting finely pleasing. All in all : not worth the trip, nor a detour or even a simple stop when in the neighborhood. Yes the price is not that high but for just a bit more you can find truly great steaks, hors d'œuvres, and sides - prepared, presented and attended with much more attention to detail. I cannot recommend.

Overpriced but food is good! Service good too. Decor is dated and tacky, and very loud in the restaurant. Did I say overpriced? Party of 6, we had 4 steaks 2 the fish, a couple starters maybe 5 or 6 drinks total. The bill with tip was just over $100/person. So if you no concerns on the price, this place is for you. But you may want to bring sunglasses and earbuds.

This was my 5th visit to Bobos - all the other expereinces were great. The food was excellent as usual! This experience was ruined by two big groups of guys who were extremely loud and inappropriate at times. I felt uneasy and sorry for the couple next to use celebrating their 13th Wedding Anniversary and the family of 4 with the 10 year old - he did not need to hear about strippers, etc., Both parties were visibly not happy - very obvious as we felt the same way. We had planned on dessert but could not hear our conversation once these two groups arrived so we left as fast as we could! I was appalled that the restaurant allowed this loud, raucous behavior and I did not witness any moves to tell the groups to tone it down -we were just told that the table of 10 guys - would like to buy us drinks?? I am very hesitant about coming back - seeing no action by the Wait staff to tell these guys to tone it down was disturbing. My advice to this restaurant is to create a room just for this type of group and not subject the rest of us to a miserable experience!

Someone recommended this restaurant as having the 'best filet they'd ever had', so we decided to try it. I have to say, he may be right. I've never tasted a filet so delicious! This is the type of restaurant where you only get the entree, and all sides are ordered a-la-carte, so be aware of that. The mac n cheese was also fab, and so were the desserts. The decor is eclectic, and doesn't exactly look like a steakhouse or an expensive restaurant, but I thought it added to the cool vibe.

Recommend by a friend and we loved it. Hung out before our meal. Next time we might just eat at the bar. You want find this in any of the tourist brochures

First, let me say the food was great. Everyone says to order the bone-in filet mignon. However we went with the rib eye cause that's the cut I like best at home. It was tasty and cooked perfectly but next time, I'd go with the filet. The restaurant is pricey so be warned. The atmosphere is interesting. Red is the predominant color of the room we were in: red wallpaper and ceilings. I liked it but it's not your typical steakhouse. We were running late so I called to say we'd be 10 minutes late. When we arrived, we still waited a half hour. I was sorry I ran to get there. Our waiter was less than stellar. Sometimes not available and he clanged the plates when settiNg them down and clearing. I saw him display proper waiting etiquette elsewhere so it's not like he didn't know. I felt he was a bit rude but my son completely disagreed and felt he was fine. The manager, however, was lovely and very helpful. I will recommend the restaurant because the food was very good. We didn't have the crab but if you like it, it looked amazing.

To start with, I loved the atmosphere in this place. I can't quite explain it, but it was glorious! The service was friendly, super quick and extra helpful! My friend and I split the mussels per the server's recommendation and I was literally mind-blown over these things. I have never been a mussels fan until that moment. I'm sure no other mussels will ever compare. Oh, and the bread at this place is insane. It's soft and warm and covered in some kind of magic. Both the friend and I opted for the bone-in filet and that was no mistake. The steak actually gets tastier the more you eat it, which is a extra great because it is quite a generous portion of filet. We split the mac n cheese for our side, but while my friend felt that it enhanced the flavors of the steak, I felt like it was a bit of a waste of tummy space. I could have given it a miss and just ordered more steak :D Lastly we finished with the cones, which were little bitesized bits of heaven. It was my birthday, so they put a candle in one of the raspberries, which was such a nice touch. Highly recommend this place!!!!

My grown son and I finished our week as tourists in San Francisco by dining well ! Bobo's was a good choice for treating ourselves. You can expect excellent service and delicious food.

It was an a treat for my tatste buds. As a first time visitor to San Francisco and a food lover it was indeed an amazing experience at Bobo's Steakhouse. To make things more pleasant Khalid Lahlou, extended us kind, courteous & a professional service. Keep up the good work.

INCREDIBLE.....took client's and we were all so impressed with the food, service and staff. The wine was fabulous and I scored the client!!!

The food, drink and service were excellent - we had a party of 8 and everyone was happy with everything.

We were very surprised by the old time ambience of the restaurant and old fashioned service that was detailed to perfection. We were seated in a draped private nook table to add to the atmosphere. My martini came as ordered, cold, dry, straight and two types of olives on the side. My wife and I shared our meal as we are not high volume diners. The bread is to die for, warm sourdough (of course) with garlic, capers and olive oil drizzled. Our New York New York Sanatra steak done med rare and seasoning was balanced not over salted. Certainly enough to be enjoyed by 2 with the twice baked potato and the baby lettuce blue salad. Certainly holds up to any Vegas steakhouses in my opinion.

We went to this restaurant thinking that it was an up scale restaurant and it was not. People next to us didn't stop cursing. My kids had an amazing fillet but my bone in New York was ok (nothing out of this world). If you are looking for a nice family friendly steak house I would think twice about BOBOs :-(

Had a wonderful dinner at Bobo's on Christmas Night (25th Dec). Amazing food, perfect ambience for a romantic dinner (too bad I was with a friend :D). Jokes apart, just try whatever they suggest you. It's totally worth it. They could have a larger selection of cocktails though :(

For an exceptional dining experience in San Francisco, Bobo's is the place to be. Their steak is perfectly cooked, tender, and melts in your mouth—truly a culinary masterpiece. The sides are delightful, complementing the main course beautifully. The cozy yet sophisticated ambiance enhances the meal, making it even more enjoyable. Service at Bobo's is top-notch, with attentive and knowledgeable staff. Their passion for the food shines through in every recommendation. In summary, Bobo's offers an unforgettable dining experience with amazing, tasty dishes. A must-visit for steak lovers and food enthusiasts alike!

Had a great time at this old school steakhouse. Crispy crabcakes were good and the guys liked the steaks. Fun decor. Super duper mac n cheese.

Italian restaurant very far from Italian cuisine, at least for Italians... however we ate some excellent beef fillets. Excellent bread with olives, unacceptable the $16 glass of wine served without showing the bottle, which by the way was a mixture of bottle leftovers... the friendly and helpful staff, the bill rather hefty. In my humble opinion better not to fool people who know the wines better than you otherwise they write negative reviews...

Visited on a Saturday night and there was a wait, not bad, after a reservation. Had a drink at Bobo’s Burger next door. Old school interior, kitschy but authentic. We had a double skillet of mussels and shrimps-very good. Main course was a 49 ounce Porterhouse and it was excellent. 2 bottles of wine for four of us. Dessert were their chocolate cones. Capped a great evening of great food, great service and not rushed.

This is a really cool place, very different from your standard, modern restaurant. The atmosphere and service is great. As far as the food, we had a bunch of appetizers and I had a bone-in filet, recommended by our waiter. It was just a standard steak, nothing special, not especially tasty. Side dishes were also pretty ordinary.

Was craving for a nice juice cooked to perfection steak, the 9 oz file mignon was very good, to resolve the parking issue they offered complimentary vale service

A dinner for 24 guests in the upper room was set for us. Serving perfectly grilled steak with various sides. The perfect wine pairing was also suggested. The red interiors added to the charm of the restaurant. Found at the top of Lombard.

I am a steak lover and have had many steaks in the past. My no1 steak used to be Gaucho grill however bobos is soooo much better. It is the most tastiest piece of meat I've ever had. Just go!!!

Very chic establishment. Ate a delicious seafood meal at the packed bar as all tables taken. A very pleasant experience.

Did not meet the standards that many friends felt it was a step above. It was tired and old...needs refreshed as well as the menu. The steak was mediocre at best and the Dungeness crab was dry...

Your business is only as good as your weakest link...Robert is your weakest link. The steak, the crab, the sides, and the drinks were great. However, this restaurant doesn't get a one star because of the food. It gets a one star because Robert was a smart-alec (I'd use a different word but tripadvisor doesn't allow it) that left a bad taste in our mouth. When asked about portion sizes and whether or not they would be appropriate for our group he stated, "Well, I wouldn't know. I don't know how much you can eat." with a grin on his face. He continued on after we asked him more about it and refused to give us any sort of indication about portion size. He couldn't dare give any sort of advice to first time diners at this restaurant. Just tell us in your best opinion whether or not it will work for us. Make a guess. Take a stab at it. We continue with our order and move on to entrees. On the menu, it clearly suggests that the steaks should be cooked medium rare. Robert asks us for the cook of our steaks, "how would you like that cooked, medium rare?" Sounds great to us, we will all have ours that way. However, one of the ladies in our group decides that she doesn't want the steak that rare and would like it medium. We get his attention and she asks for the steak medium. "That's already what I wrote down? 3 medium filet mignons and one medium rare bone-in New York." Nope. That's not what we ordered and we all knew it. Yet again, he absolutely insisted that he wrote it down and heard it correctly, yet again with a smug smart-alec tone in his voice. By the way, Robert, my New York came out medium to medium well. Hardly any pink on the inside, but I didn't dare mention it to you in fear of you coming up with some "holier-than-thou" response from you about how it's cooked perfectly. Robert, if it were up to me, you would have been lucky to receive even a penny for gratuity from me but luckily our gracious hosts had decided otherwise. Even the best tasting steak in the world could not have compensated for the smart-alec tone you had in your voice all night. I refuse to give this business any more than one star and if I were able to, I would give them zero. Service is key in a city with a hundred restaurants...JUST...LIKE...YOURS. If you want great crab (and probably great steak), great service and a great view go to the Crab House at Pier 39. I've never been disappointed there and doubt you would be either.

Stumbled across this place while talking to our concierge. We were looking for a seafood restaurant off the wharf and not touristy. Being from Chicago we really didn't need another "steak house" experience, however - the concierge said that this place had been rated #1 steak house in San Fran. He also said that the seafood is amazing as well. This place did not disappoint! It is located on Lombard st. - not a fancy place -but nice. What really matters is the food.....we started with a "skillet" of mussels and shrimp. It was simple perfection. Both the mussels and shrimp cooked perfectly - warm served with an au jus for dipping. I could eat this every day! Caesar salad was good, twice baked potato - very good. Entrees - we had a whole crab on skillet and a filet, decided to go surf and turf to check out the steak as well. There was absolutely no room for improvement. The steak had a crust on the outside but was butter on the inside -the crab was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back to Bobo's!

The next time you're in the mood for a great steak, my I recommend FOUR restaurants - Morton's in Portland, Vic & Anthony's in Lake Charles, LA, Smith & Wilenski's (but hurry - they're closing too fast) and Bobo's in San Francisco. Bobo's signature entree is their Bone-in Filet. This was the first time I had ever seen a bone-in filet and since then, so many fine steak houses are adopting this steak. What makes this one so good is that is had the tenderness of a Filet, but the bone adds so much more flavor. Bon Appetite!

We were invited to a birthday dinner at Bobo's and it was our first time there. We were seated on the top floor. Lots of stairs so if you're planning to bring some family who have mobility issues, you might want to reconsider. Regarding their food, they do know how to cook steaks . I loved the bone in filet mignon that we ordered. For appetizers , we had the carpaccio, crab crostini and lobster crostini .

I came to Bobo's with family who are familiar with the area. I was visiting from Arizona. This place has a very cool atmosphere. Lots of character and the decor was filled with red chandeliers and heavy curtains The staff was friendly. For me, the food was expensive, but I realize that for this area, and for this occasion it was to be expected. The steak was very good. Tender and flavorful. I had the petite filet mignon. I did not like that you have to purchase sides. Our table picked mac&cheese and portobello mushrooms. The mushrooms were my favorite part of the meal. We did have drinks, which were well made and bobo's seems to carry only top shelf. For desert we shared a chocolate bomb and i had amerretto. The bomb was delicious. All and all it was a great night, but i would only return for a special occasion.

We have visited and dined out across the U.S. for over 40 days now and this restaurant takes the prize for worst food at the highest prices. A small filet for $38! No sides included as the average $9 each for boiled vegetables. The loaf of bread brought to the table was stale as a crouton 2 inches thick. Our neighbouring table received the same thing. Both loaves smothered in melted margarine and canned mushrooms. We both sent them back twice and then passed on it altogether . The waiter explained that some folks like their bread crispy. This wasn't crispy, this was dehydrated and almost unbreakable by mere mortals. The steak was served up on a bloody plate as the meat hadn't been allowed to rest at all after cooking. A previous commentor posted a photo; bang on accurate. All I can say is run, don't walk away from this grease pit. It's really bad. Period.

We went to their Lounge Bar and loved it so much that we promised Victorio the owner we would be back to his restaurant for some great steak. After a long hectic day nothing better than looking forward to a great meal and lovely company at a great place. Staff food and attention to customers needs outstanding worth the visit when visiting San Fran thanks once again Victorio

Most reviewers agree, the bone-in filet is the dish to order here if you like steak. It is a really delicious piece of meat and perfectly prepared. The crab always looks good too, though I haven't tried it. Personally I always dine alone at the bar, and enjoy the steak along with the sautéed chard and the sourdough bread. The bread is one of the more unique bread offerings in SF, crusty baked with garlic, and olive oil. This is a favorite meal for me and the bar is quite charming. They have complimentary valet parking -just give the tip- and in San Francisco, that is quite the convenience. The food is consistent, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and all in all, this is an excellent recommendation.

It was our first day in SF. We were tired and hungry after long flight and nice long walk exploring the city. As this was closest place to eat to our hotel we decided to give it a go. To be honest food was ok. Fish was just a bit too salty, but overall food was ok. I would give a better rating for this steakhouse, however the last minutes of the diner was really awful and ruined my mood. Waiter served the bill ($105) and walked away, we put $130 on the bill tray (100+20 and then 10 dollar bill on the top). When we were starting to walk away - water nearly jumped on us loudly stating - "Actually it is usual to leave mo..." and then he saw, that under 10 dollar bill it was 20 dollar bill. We asked - is everything ok? He said something like - yes yes all good. and walked away. Nothing bad actually happened, but i felt sick.

The is a great little place. The steak is wonderful. Nice wine list and the prices are afordable. Deserts are great, be warned they are rich. If you are in the city for dinner it is will worth stopping in.

Went to Bobo's for Christmas Eve dinner! Nice setting with soft music. I ordered the petite filet and it was great. Defiantly order the Onion Rings and Yams with Brown Sugar!

We went many years ago, and it was delicious. We decided to stay close to home on Christmas Eve and have a "nice" dinner. Huge mistake. In what universe is a Caesar made with iceberg lettuce? In what universe do the appetizers arrive within 5 minutes of ordering unless everything was already prepared and sitting? In what universe do you serve the appetizers prior to drinks being delivered? Our steaks...a joke. we ordered 2 medium well and 1 rare. 1 arrived medium well. 1 arrived medium rare. 1 arrived seared and VERY rare...close to not edible. In fact, it wasn't edible. And did the chef forget to season? No salt; no pepper; no seasoning on the steaks. The modern mac n cheese tasted as if they opened a box of Kraft. There are so many terrific steak places in SF...Bobo's is NOT one of them.

When your significant other is a "foodie" and has been to almost all the great restaurants and wants to be surprised, what's a girl to do? Much to our collective surprise, I found Bobo's and grabbed the 6:15 reservation. The place is known for steak -- and crab, dungeness crab. So that's what we had for our main courses: bone-in filet and one whole crab (yes, they prepped it tableside.) And everything was as tasty as promised. Our server was helpful with recommendations for sides and a twist on my fav -- the martini... He suggested a basil-mint combo which was a nice change of pace over blue cheese olives. The ambience catered to lingering but I noticed that they could really use the table so we offered to finish our bottle of wine at the bustling bar -- if they could get us a spot; naturally they did. And as our reward, if you will, we were comped a lovely chocolate surprise and a cordial to accompany. When we left, the place was packed -- SRO, people waiting for tables. Two final thoughts: make an early reservation and don't be put off by my first impression: I was dismayed to see it was located "within" a Travel Lodge or something similar. Walk through their doors and it's a different world. Oh yeah, free valet parking!

We were staying around the corner and needed a place for a bite after walking around all day. A good pick. Quick serve. Waitress was very attentive. I had some great tasting potato soup. My husband had a burger. Not a large place but had a nice atmosphere.

On Lombard just 4 blocks west of the crookest street sits Bobo's, a quirky place with the BEST steak ever. After a day of travel it was close to our hotel. We shared a blue cheese salad, lobster crostini and a bone in filet. Everything was wonderful and delicious! We showed up with no reservations and they found a table right away. The inviting atmosphere, good service and friendly staff (with the best steak in San Francisco) will keep me coming back every time I am in San Francisco.

We just happened to ask a police officer in town were to get a good steak and BoBo's is where he suggested, and was he ever so right!!!! My husband and I both enjoyed every bite. Although a bit pricey it was worth it. We sat upstairs next to the window and just great atmosphere and we had a wonderful and attentive server. I would highly recommend.

The atmosphere is disjointed and very dark (hard to read the menus). The tables are extremely small. Our party of 4 was cramped into a corner. We brought our own wine; I think the corkage fee was $25. The steak was ok, not the best. I think the valet is complimentary as well. I wouldn't recommend.

Have been to Bobo's before. In fact this is our 4th time in 7 years. While the grilled mussels were not up to their usual standard - fantastic; the bone in filet is by far one of the best steaks I have ever had. The service is great and atmosphere is fun.

We had reservations here for our night in San Fran after a wine country visit. What a tiny surprise this was! The location is very small and intimate, ideal for dates or couples. Service was spectacular and the food. Oh my Gawd was the food amazing. We had espresso martinis to start with a bucket of steamed mussels which were to die for. Ordering is famoly style so no need to order separately. We shared a ribeye, a nice bottle of Pinot Noir, asparagus, and a crab followed by some delicious little mousse cone dessert. The bill was almost $400 for what sounds like very little but oh lord were we stuffed & happy.

Checked out Bobo's Steak House on Trip Advisor and it looked good so Jackie and I decided to try it for an early dinner: we were not disappointed! The steak was aged beef and cooked to perfection, and exactly as we ordered. The sides too were delicious ~ crushed and fried potatoes; diced portobello mushrooms garnished with capers and garlic; and crispy breadcrumbed onion rings. Accompanied by a glass of sublime, warming, fruity montepulciano this was an outstanding meal. Surroundings are ecentrically but attractively decorated in shades of deep red, and the background music was perfectly ambient ~ Sinatra, Martin, Buble, Bennett, and Nat King Cole. A warning though - this is not an inexpensive restaurant so be prepared to spend. However, you do get what you pay for! Jackie and I recommend Bobo's.

I'm giving BoBo's an average rating because my steak, which was supposed to be medium was over cooked. My husband and son also had steak an theirs was fine.

When I order fresh crab I prefer to enjoy it without all the butter. It was too greasy & probably not worth the $$ for what we ate. Service was really great but overall we were disappointed.

This restaurant was recommended by our concierge. Very friendly service and great steak. We shared double mussels between four and they were great served on a hot skillet, then came the steak which was cooked to perfection. Not cheap but great food.

The space is quite small...which means it's charming and kind of hard to move around. If you get there early, chances are there isn't a place to wait comfortably. Besides that, the atmosphere is great, the food is good and the service was lovely. A bit overpriced, as steakhouses are want to do. If you have a special occasion and want to celebrate, this is a good place to start.

Enjoyed the steak and crab, service was good but our table for two was so close to the table next to ours it felt awkward. Wine list was good, service was good. The clown theme surprised me, I guess I didn't think about the name!

This place was recommended by a friend who said we would never get a reservation calling a day or two in advance on a Saturday night. Through regular sources, he was right. Thanks to a connection, we managed to get a table and enjoyed a great dinner. This is a classic prime steakhouse and that means that everything is a la carte and fairly expensive. There's a reason it is tough to get a table and that is because it is really that good. There is, however, complimentary valet parking which, in this city, is a good thing if you are driving your own car.

All around, this was one of the nicest dining experiences we've had in a really long time. We started next door in their bar where it was $1 oyster night-Yummy. Our table was ready when we walked over (a few minutes early on a Saturday night, wow). My husband ordered the bone-in filet, mostly for the novelty and proclaimed it to be one of the best steaks he'd every eaten. I like to try a couple apps as my meal and the roasted mussels did not dissapoint. Kale salad was delicious, no bitterness at all. We brought our own bottle of wine and found the corkage to be average SF (25-) and the server to be very gracious about it. (sometimes they get weird) The atmosphere is pretty cool and the tables are tight but it still managed to feel pretty intimate. What a great meal and a neat spot.

Just been to this restaurant, it's a cosy little one... We had really been looking forward to visiting this restaurant because of the good ratings. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated were there was almost no room for the chair. The menu looked really delicious, we ordered a new Yorker steak with a baked potato and my wife ordered a salad with shrimps. The beef was good, but when I asked for good salt flakes, or some salt with quality, the waiter came with salt from the bar. The waiter was OK, but didn't pay much attention for our table. Furthermore my wife's salad did miss it's bread croutons.. 160$, for something worth Max. 80$.. this is not what I would call a good steakhouse.. hope that this is useful to you.

Wonderful cocktails and lower priced items then their big sister Bobo's, while waiting for the best steak I've ever eaten!! Returned to the Lounge for desserts and after dinner drinks! Beautiful and so quaint!

The atmosphere is great, service is far and beyond and the steaks are really good and made to perfection.

We visited Bobo's after reading several reviews online. It did not disappoint! We made a reservation through Open Table the day of and were seated straight away. The ambience is funky - reminded us of a French Moulin Rouge ambience. The food was amazing - we both ordered filet (one bone in) and they were prepared perfectly. Cut through them like butter, perfect amount of seat on the outside and pink on the inside. The brussel sprouts were amazing! The tables upstairs are a bit close together but we were still comfortable. The service was great - timely, attentive but not overbearing. We will definitely visit Bobo's again when we are in San Francisco again.

We stopped in for a light meal on Sept.13 2018. The soup was hot and flavorful. The salad was crisp and fresh. The desserts were fantastic. The service was definitely exceptional.

This is a spin off of the big "bobos the steak" restaurant. This is a quaint little place. Staff is very friendly. Menu selection isn't much but for light meals and drinks it is very good. Right next to Travelodge by the Bay

Quiet little bar/restaurant across from Comfort Inn on the Bay. Excellent service, atmosphere and food for a reasonable price.

Loved this place. We'd been dining all over the city and opted for Bobo's because it was connected it seemed to our Travelodge Hotel. We stepped into a tasteful and old world Venetian environment, with a traditiona, yet hip, trendy and diverse kind of crowd. We did not have a reservation yet almost immediately felt so glad to have been seated at a high top in the most- cozy bar, next to the window, looking out on Lombard. The food, the food the food. It's pricey and worth every dime - filet-perfectly prepared, sauteed kale with a touch of garlic, that was incredible and a twice-baked potato that would make my mom smile!

We loved eating here. Had the shrimp, oysters and crab. All were some of the best we have ever had. A couple of us had the the bone in fillet steak which was great. One of our favorite places and would go back again. Too full from dinner so did not try the dessert.

We ate at this restaurant because it was close to the area we're we're staying and didn't want to drive anywhere. The restaurant was small but had parking free. I tried the Dungeness crab and it came cooked perfectly. They had options of ordering a half crab, whole crab and larger sizes for sharing. My husband ate a steak and it was so tender and cooked perfectly.

This iconic restaurant in San Francisco dishes up some of the best steak we ever remember eating. We were sat in a wonderful atmospheric old world room however there were also tables in the lighter area near the bar.... My husband had the steak and I went for the crab and shrimp The steak was perfectly cooked and just melted in you mouth My dish came out on a sizzling platter the crab whole and a large portion of shrimp/prawns. The prawns had a wonderful taste but could get a bit overcooked on the skillet so just watch out... the two sauces for the crab and prawns was fantastic however my crab was just a bit dry on the legs, however the main body was tender and perfectly cooked. A delicious meal all round with friendly and attentive staff We had a great night which we finished with a Lemoncello... just a fantastic way to end a very filling meal.

I stayed in SF for 6 days and ate here 3 times - says it all really! There isn't much choice around the Howard Street area but his restuarant would stand out in any location.

Place is small, pretty decent atmosphere. The hostess greats you; she seems pretty nice. The problem is when you start to deal with the servers: Cocky, arrogant, slow, and just plan old jerks. Food was great, I will admit, but for the prices they charge, $60 a steak and the way they act, unbelievable. You would think it's a privilege for you to be there in front of them. The wine came: he put it in front of my face for a second then pulled it away and I asked him to bring it back and let me see it before he opened it: Sure enough: Wrong vintage. When I questioned it he didn’t say a word and took off w/it! He took his time and came back later and I told him I didn’t necessarily not want it but he didn’t even give me a chance to talk to him and I told him it was the wrong vintage : He raised his voice at me and said “ That’s not my problem what can I do about it?!!” Obviously irritated that I had questioned it. Sorry, I didn't want to spend $160 for a bottle wine that was two years newer than advertised on your menu. You know I thought about this because I hate to give low ratings. It wasn’t horrible, but they are such jerks they just deserve it. Our bill was over $400 for three people and for what? Never again and they need to either replace the staff or get ready for a downward spiral. Also I have to mention when we sat down w/in minutes we overheard the table next to us talk to us and calling the waiter a not so nice word!! He was pretty darn angry (The customer was)

For a day of drinking with friends and family, it was good, not too many beer options in the menu, but the cocktails were served incredibly... Also got to say by far the most beautiful bathroom in the trip

As so many other reviewers have said, the bone-in Ribeye steak is excellent. I also enjoyed the twice baked potatoes. The lobster soup does have a strong curry flavor, which i didn't care for but my wife loved it. If you enjoy sweet wine their dessert wine late harvest reisling is excellent, too.

Recommended by our Concierge as an upscale but casual steak and seafood place. It was worth going. The decor is interesting. We sat on the top floor and it got hot with all of the guests. Tightly packed tables means that we heard all of the conversations which was a bit uncomfortable. The steaks were properly prepared. The shrimp was served on a hot skillet and was nice. Loved the brussels sprouts, twice baked potato and onion rings. Service was very nice with a good wine selection.

Took a party of 8 here for a work function and the bill was well over $1000. Not a problem as the server was really helpful and food was fine for a steak house. When I got my statement from my credit card they overcharged me $100. Easy fix (so I thought) as I connected with a manager fairly quickly. We are now almost a month out from when we dined and I have made 4 calls and finally got a call back as there is no refund. The manager was super unprofessional and unapologetic. I would NOT return and not recommend taking a group. There are lots of steakhouses in SF with better customer service if you run into an issue.

I returned to Bobo's this month during a family vacation, only because we held such good memories of this place from a similar vacation several years ago. Service was good, food was fine but over-priced, and decor & surroundings are out-dated. Fun to go back after all these years but didn't match our expectations.

A small restaurant with 10 tables and entrence within a parking house. Fully occupied a tuesday evening and there are reasons for that. The service is attentive and fast. I ordered crab, grilled in garlic and it took only 10 to receive the food. Very tasty but a lack of napkins for such fingerfood. 60 USD for a crab and a beer.

I was taken here for a business dinner and had a lovely evening. Arriving first, I accidentally walked into their burger restaurant which had me in stitches thinking this is where I was going to receive a business pitch, but soon saw the proper restaurant just further along :) The bar service and unusual takes on classic cocktails were wonderful and once taken to our table the evening went off without any issue. We all had steak, I had the fillet on the bone which melted in my mouth and went well with the wine pairing suggested by our server.

Amazing steak, strong drinks, wonderful atmosphere, wonderful service and Ian mention BEST steak I’ve ever had? Expensive and totally worth the money!

Nice environment, hassle free for car park due to valet services, portion of food is good 👍, friendly service, but a bit pricey.

We were there for a business meeting, but the atmosphere, service, and food would have been perfect for a date or special occasion. Do not pass on ordering a steak. It was cooked perfectly.

Go here often. Drinks at the bar then upstairs at the restaurant for one of the best steaks. Their bone in filet mignon is a must have. The wine pairings are superb. Romantic, cozy and terrific service.

Went there last week to celebrate a birthday. My main critic regards their red wine (we ordered glasses of Chianti and Montepulciano). It's one of the worse reds I've had the chance to drink in a restaurant. We asked the waiter to take them back.. would have been nice to be offered a discount or something. Meat is OK but not great, their Basil cocktail is quite good.

Incredible evening at Bobo's. The food was impeccable, the service from Renaud was stellar and the ambiance was exactly the right combination of comfort and elegance! We will certainly be back for more!

Good food but terrible service! The waiter wrote the total amount including the tip on the bill and when I was leaving he Told me that I had to pay more. It was very shameful!

We were visiting San Francisco for the weekend and craved a good steak and Bobo's Steakhouse was recommended to us. We ordered the "49er" porterhouse and it was the best porterhouse steak we have ever eaten. Cooked perfectly and served with a delectable sauce. We ordered a crab cocktail appetizer as well which was also gooddelicious and a great bottle of wine that was not too expensive. The service was friendly and professional and we liked how they converted their parking garage into outdoor dining with festive lights, art and planter hedges with socially distant tables. We will be back.

We ordered the soft shell crab and found the sauce over powering that was poured all over the crab. When we asked for drawn butter, they brought it out but without a flame warmer. The bread that they normally serve before dinner was so hard that you could not bite it. The last time we visited I would have given them 5 stars!! Just missed the mark this time.

We ended up at Bobo's lounge, because Bobo was full, but we've enjoyed every bit. Fantastic filet mignon, cooked to perfection. Our waiter was so kind and helpful during our stay, that i've never met before in the states! It is really a lounge, not with too convenient chairs, and tables for eat, but that should not stop you going there

Best damned things I have ever tasted in my friggin life. I travel across the country to get there just to eat them. Love the atmosphere and the food it really, really good. Can't say enough.

This was truly the best meal I've ever had. The atmosphere was wonderful, our waiter was amazing, the filet literally melted in my mouth (I've heard people say that before but never knew it was a real thing). As long as you go into it know you are going to spend quite a bit of money, you'll enjoy it. It was probably the most I've spent on a meal, but I don't regret it. It is a wonderful place to eat.

We left the hotel and crossed the street and had a nice romantic dinner for two at this place with a nice bottle of red californian wine and two medium cooked steaks. Very cozy and well managed restaurant. Decent prices and very good taste.

Entering Bobo's is inviting, the small bar is right at the entrance and the dining rooms are small and comfortable. We had the New York bone which was vary flavorful but the Fillet was just not as tender as others we have had. Service was very attentive with a very NY matter-of-factness and efficiency. Overall good food, attentive service, comfortable place but I doubt I will return as it was priced above its punch.

Was visiting my daughter and wanted to end the trip on a special note. From the tuna carpaccio to the steak - everything was superb. Not rushed - but tended to. Our server was very good.. Just a great experience.

Burger was sensational -maybe not so rare next time...pizza and French onion soup also great. We were treated like Customers. Highly recommended!

As others have said, this is a quirky place with dark red and black décor. There is a bar area on the first floor and my party of 4 ate in a dining room on the second floor. The 9 oz filet was the best I've ever had and perfectly cooked. The others in my party devoured the starter of shrimp and crab. The shrimp was very garlicky so be warned. We had lots of drinks so the meal was expensive. The prices for food are high but reasonable for what you get I think.

when we arrived, the decor left me puzzled ... until I saw the menu and I tasted the wonderful filet mignon on the bone !! WOW !! quite simply.

We eat well and I never finish my steak but I ate ALL 9 oz of my filet mignon! This was BY FAR the BEST steak I have ever had! Service lacked (big time) but a bottle of wine helped with that! Great food, great company... what more could need! My most gracious compliments to the Chef!!

I have been to Bobo's several times and have always had a great experience. The steaks (filet and ribeye) are among the best I have ever eaten. Crab cakes and Brussel sprouts are also tasty. Service has always been excellent.

I'm a little late writing this but feel its really important to write. We actually dined next door in its sister place The Lounge; however it is the same menu. The steak was the best I have ever tasted anywhere in the world I have been so far. (At 47 I've been to a few countries but still more to go!) Words just cannot describe the taste sensation the food gave. The Lounge did not have any rose wine which my friend wanted - but the owner went next door to get us a bottle. We are planning a return visit in 2017 for my 50th birthday treat and are planning our whole road trip around finishing up at Bobo's!!

We wanted a good dry-aged steak and Bobo’s was recommended to us. Restaurant was unassuming from the outside, when one walks inside, looks like Mardi Gras. Several levels to the place, we walked up one narrow flight of stairs to a smallish room with several tables. Ordered Caesar salad for a starter, good. They have a great wine list. Steaks were wonderful, we had a Porterhouse and a Petite Filet Mignon. I highly recommend the Porterhouse. For sides, we had the Brussel Sprouts and the Creamy Dutch Smashed Potatoes - the potatoes were wonderful! The wait staff was attentive and provided for our every request immediately. It was a wonderful dining experience.

We came in not knowing what to expect. First time. We ordered the crab and shared it it was so so good and a ton. We ordered the steak to share and side all the food was fantastic and delish. We miss this place and still talk about how good the food was prepared. Wine went well with our food. Will be returning.

Never heard of bone in filet which is their specialty. Great steak - even if I'm a ny strip guy. Mussels appetizer was fantastic - must try. Deserts were well done. Setting is very nice. Would def go back and for special occasion - was wife's birthday.

Found this place walking back to our hotel after a day out doing the tourist thing. Initially we thought we would just have a drink, then got hungry and ordered something to eat. Two appetizers and they were really well prepared and very tasty. So we returned the next night and had a meal, it was delicious. The bartender was super friendly and very informative. The drinks were a bit pricey but they don't hold back on quantity, we thought that the after dinner shot of Sambuca a bit steep at $10.00 a shot. Nice, small and good atmosphere all around a good spot to stop in at.

Amazing as always! Unquestionably my favorite steakhouse in San Francisco (yes, really - without a doubt)

My wife and I had dinner at Bobo's as we had heard from a good friend raving at how delicious the beef and steaks are. Knowing of her being a discerning gourmet, we decided to try the steaks for ourselves. She was right Bobo's steaks are excellent. Prime beef flame grilled at hi temp perfectly singed on the outside yet tender and juicy on the inside. I love it! Bobo's is almost always fully booked so do make reservations ahead of time. Had dinner at Bobo's Steak and Crab in San Fransisco. Delicious!! Had the bone in Filet, which is what they're known for, beyond tender.....twice baked potato, and the lobster crostini as an app.....If you're a steak person, def stop for here for dinner!!! Our waitress Jen was very sweet and helpful. Worth every penny....!

Best Thanksgiving Dinner EVER! The food is excellent I highly recommend the spinach fondue. I don’t even like cooked spinach but that shiid was DELICIOUS! We had non traditional Thanksgiving this year and it’s one I’m so grateful for. Treat yourself! I promise it’s worth it!

The only good part of my experience was the waitress and she was good. My husband I want something quick and close to our hotel. We found bobo's lounge. We ordered a Long Island ice tea and fresh crab chowder. We received our drinks in a reasonable timely fashion. BUT I have never received a Long Island ice tea in a WINE glass AND charged $10. The chowder took forever!!! When it came out, it was in a leaf shaped plate and was luck to hold a cup of soup no crackers or bread. The menu stated fresh crab chowder and it was definitely not fresh. To top off the whole experience, obviously the owner of the lounge was in and he was receiving preferential service. The lounge played disco music and was decorated in Massachusetts. Did this not all die in the 70's. $43 dollars total

Not much else to say - if you are not concerned about cost and want a good steak then come here. The atmosphere in the restaurant is unusual - think boudoir (dark reds and mirrors). Crab platters looked interesting.

Used to be fantastic. Now a shadow if itself. Bland, tasteless crab. Raw steak served after being forgotten as an order. Too bad, as it used to be a great place. Server was very pleasant, and the atmosphere is nice, but for $100 per person you could order crab online which would taste orders of magnitude better. Sorry to leave such a bad review for a place I used to love.

The restaurant is decorated very red, is very compact and over priced. The 9 ozs of beef on my plate was cooked nicely, however drenched in butter. The side veggies of spinach and broccoli were also drenched in butter. The bread was chewy. We were seated in the front room just beyond the very tiny entrance way/bar. There were I think 20 if not 22 folks seated in this small area. Really loud. At that price, I expected more.

Service and ambiente second to none, Steak was a delight and wine very very good. One in our party had her birthday that night and they did even a surprise cake for her - successful evening !

Started in Bar; mostly ignored; then $14 martini---nothing special. Wedge salad with blue cheese dressing was good; waiter more or less not attentive---wine list very expensive; shared a 16 oz new york strip----the steak was cold in middle, charred to a crust on outside; obviously not brought to proper temp before cooking---inexcusable for a legitimate steak house. Side of grilled swiss chard passable. Not money well spent; never go back.

Awesome. Good service and really good food. Overall the food with tasty and well prepared. I will would return should I return to the area

Dinner was a feast. The steaks were tasty and the side dishes presented with a flourish and was so very good. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the friendliness and attentive service made dinner into a treat.

Perfect little table's for two, huge perfectly cooked steaks in pretty much any cut you can think of. Hugely recommend the spinach side but not for those who aren't garlic friendly. Great sized portions - I can eat, but still ended up taking away a healthy sized leftovers box which made for a lovely midnight feast when we were back at the hotel.

One of their house specials, the bone-in filet was delicious. Proper temperature, great sear. The interior is definitely old-school, so it can get a little stuffy with bigger groups, but the staff is very accommodating to your needs. The seafood sampler with mussels, crab legs and shrimp is a great dish to share.

Excited by our first visit to San Francisco, we were even more delighted to receive two recommendations for Bobo’s. Admittedly, those that made the recommendations had dined there a few years ago, so they cannot be held to account for the meal we had. Expecting great things, we were disappointed to leave feeling like we had eaten a barely acceptable meal for an exaggerated bill. The atmosphere was such that we felt that raising any concerns with our waiter would have been dismissed with Gallic indifference. Suffice to say, we will not be making similar recommendations for Bobo’s, but urge those seeking an excellent steak dinner to try looking on Ellis Street.

Been to many steakhouses, some of the best in the country, and after reading all the good reviews on Bobo's, we decided to give it a shot. I guess there is always that occasion where you just don't get a good steak, but that rarely happens at a good steakhouse. My wife and I split the medium size bone-in filet which was cooked just about as ordered, but the flavor and overall texture and quality was just not there. We did enjoy the Mac & Cheese along with the Cauliflower side dishes, but of course the steak is what would have made the meal way more enjoyable. The blue cheese salad was also missing something, lettuce was not crisp and cool as it should have been. The bread to start was very flavorful and enjoyable.

There are few times in my life when I'm extremely disappointed in a restaurant and refuse to give it a second try. This is one of them. My friends and I had wanted to try out Bobo's because we love crab and steak. We had requested our food to arrive as it was cooked so that the food was hot. There was no one else in the restaurant at the time. We ordered the mussels, crab, and a bone-in filet mignon along with sides to share upon the recommendation of the waitress. The food came all at once and it was cold. Also the crab was dry and the mussels were overcooked. We had spent $400 for our table of 3 and were told we needed to leave because they turn over their tables 2-3 times each night. This was pretty ridiculous for the price of food here to push people out. I will never come here again. The food was not worth the price and the attitude of the restaurant towards it's customers was insulting.

We first had Martinis which were perectly served by the Barmeister who became a real friend. My wife had lobster crostine which was excellent and fresh! My lobster soup w curry was not a hit but ok w lobster lumps. The BIG hit was the file mignon on the bone!! What a hit as I never had it on the bone. This was fantastic for a steak lover like me! The Bartender was really professional as he served us both in the bar AND at the table and ever so nice !!

A lovely little bar but expensive. Two burgers (nice size), two ribs (small size), 5 beers and one small glass of wine $150 with tip.

We visit San Francisco to attend the plays and then sample different restaurants after the plays. Last weekend we chose Bobo's on a neighbor's recommendation. The place is just off Lombard and is somewhat off the beaten path. The restaurant resembles and may be a renovated house. The bar is right at the door. The bartender was very personable and made wicked martinis. We sat on the lower level of the restaurant and had a nice view of cars lining up to travel down the crooked street of Lombard. The appetizers consisted of shrimp and crab. It was fresh and presented well. The special was the bone in fillet. All four of us ordered the special. It was all cooked to perfection. The side dish of the twice baked potatoes was the almost better than the steaks. Do not forget to order the potatoes. The wine list had a great variety of Napa Valley. I was a little skeptical about this place due to appearance from the street. Please do not let that stop you! It is one of the finest places in San Francisco to order a steak and such.

Took my son here while in SFO. I don't eat a lot of meat, but I heard the steaks were great, so we tried the bone-in filet and we weren't disappointed. We ordered two sides which were good, but not great. The presentation of the seafood at the table was impressive. Seemed like a good place to take a date -- it was small, low light, not loud and the service was very good.

The steak was very good. Twice baked potatoes very good. Swiss Chard did not even taste like Swiss Chard way too much garlic,it was awful. Very noisy in there . Wine good.very pricey. Expect to pay at least 170 to 250 for a couple.

We went to Bobo's on our last night, and had the Filet Mignon, that is all that's on your plate if you want sides they are extra, like $9 for a baked potato, the steak was really nice though but the area we were sat in was next to the bar and very noisey, the staff were friendly enough, but be warned this is quite expensive for the area, but if you want a good steak and prepared to pay then it is good place to go ONCE!!

My wife and I were at the restaurant for a late supper, we were shown to a nice table and the waitress was polite and helpful with the menu. We both enjoyed our food of Crab and Steak and the bill was reasonable, not cheap but the quality of the food was good.

A bit pricey for the quality. Other diners seemed enthusiastic but not as good as they think, from my personal experience. Good but not excellent steaks.

We chose Bobo's Lounge because it was close to our hotel and had good reviews. Long story short...it was crowded, not because it was overly busy but just very small with too many tables. The food was over priced. You pay for sides separately. We shared a salad, entree and side, had two beers and two glasses of wine and the tab was $84?before tip.

Made a reservation as we heard that it can get crowded. However as we showed up, we have to wait another 20 minutes for our table and were told that it is still not ready after we finished our drinks. We ended up sitting on the high tables by the window which isn't bad but there isn't a point making a reservation at all. Food is alright, nothing special to return. Portions are big and I recommend to share! The ambience is good so I would recommend tourists to try it out once.

We have dined her several times over the years and the food and service has always been great. The best crabs in town and all the sides are very good as well. We highly recommend.

The concierge at our hotel at Fisherman's Wharf rated it as quite small, family run, "funky" with a great atmosphere. Sure we could walk there! However, although it looked close enough, it was not a contour map. Thank goodness my wife was there to give me a push or pull when needed! On arrival we were warmly greeted, and seated in a tiny red dining room with interesting art. No problem. My martini was excellent (Noilly Prat vermouth), and the wines just fine. Now to the food. My wife ordered a plate of crab and accompanying prawns (shrimp). The latter were very well cooked and presented, but the crab claws were dry. The body of the crab was good. The filet streak (bone on) at $US75 was probably the best steak I have ever had. Unfortunately the brussel sprouts, and twice baked potatoes were just adequate. Wonderfully finished by a small glass of lemoncello. All of the above was served with grace and humour by beautiful Jennifer. In summary, some great highlights, let down somewhat by average aspects by some aspects. We'd eat here again.

The ambiance was super cool for the amount of clown stuff. i got the basic bobo burger and it was delicous, the dark lit dining area gave it a nice comfortable feeling and the waiter was super nice! There is also the restaurant that is connecte to it that we didn't go to but I heard that one is still very good

Party of five first week in October. All but one ordered steak, the other ordered the white fish. All 4 guys said steak was terrible. Two bone in ribeyes, one bone in NY Strip, and one filet. One of the guys ordered medium and it came out well done. Instead of taking it back for another steak, he asked for the fish, as everyone was complaining about lack of taste. Absolutely new seasoning on the steak. Very bland. I'm a steak lover and only ate half of my $49.95 NY Strip (ala carte). With 3 bottles of wine, our bill was almost $800. What a rip. Will never be back.

This was my third visit to Bobo's after a 6 year gap and I was overall pleased with the experience. The bone-in filet was amazing as well as the appetizers and accompaniments. Finishing off with the "cones" for desert are a must, and you can choose the quality (very reasonably priced). The service did not match the price point and exceptional food. We had a female waitress that was absent minded and needed more training. Typically a "Top 10" Steakhouse in America has exceptional service - this experience made me feel like McDonald's provides a better customer experience.

The first thing you notice about this restaurant is the black & red stripes outside. It is a fun place with expensive food. The service was great and the food was what you would expect from a steakhouse. Everything is a la carte so the sides can really add up. I personally think it`s hard to mess up a good piece of steak. The crab & shrimp appetizer was good but not great. I did think the matches were a nice touch.

The restaurant is a casual steakhouse where We ordered shrimp and crab coctail for starters. the main courses were whole crab and multiple cuts of meat that we sared. The meat was delicious, juicy and just right. The add-ons brussel sprouts, brocolli, potatoes and portobello mushrooms all delicious. From the bar the best Manhattan I´ve ever tatsted and very good port. The service Jose the waiter from El Salvador a pleasant, agile and friendly attention . In short an excellent place to eat in San Francisco

Our friends brought took us on a Sunday night with reservations (recommended) and didn't even know it looked that nice from the inside. I passed there hundreds of times and didn't even know it existed. Glad they tooks us there. We started out with lobster crostinis, yellowtail carpaccio and crispy crab cakes and all were delicious. We had two bone-in-filet mignon (my first time having one anywhere and was like cutting into butter)and two regular filet mignon. One regular filet mignon was brought wrong and without hesitation they brought one right away. We had cauliflower, yam and sprouts all deliciously great!!! To top it off we had the panna cotta and the bomb chocolate in which I preferred the panna. Its pricey but well worth the food and service by Ilse and the busboy which we unfortunately didnt get his name.

This spot never disappoints! It’s a kitschy, cozy spot that will knock you out with consistent and incredible food! Edgar, our server Is amazing and remembered us from our last visit. We had the crac crostini...amazing! Sizzling skillet of mussels and prawns. So tasty although they changed it up and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. Bone-in filet was absolutely to die for! It melts! Only thing I question was their need to change the bread and how it’s presented! I prefer pesto on pasta not my bread! Bring back the capers/garlic/olive oil! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

over priced and limited menu the food was ok and very expensive for very little food and sides. Just the main dish the whole menu was a la carte

The steaks were good, the service attentive and polite. The atmosphere was totally spoiled for our table and two others by a woman at the table next door, possibly drunk, who wanted to hold all her conversations as loud as possible. It was impossible to hear anything other than her shouty voice. Thankfully the wait staff moved her table and the rest of the tables around us could enjoy our meals, including singing happy birthday to another party.

We went with a group of business partners to Bobo's. Fortunately it was their recommendation, because if we would have promoted we would be ashamed. It started well with seafood, especially the seasoning of the moussels was excellent. Was should have been the highlight, the bone in filet turned out into a very poor performance. The steaks where in most cases overdone- so four of us give the steak back- this never happened to me. The second steak than was nearly raw instead of mediums and not seasoned at all- I ate it because I was hungry, but another guest returned it the second time. After that experience nobody was in for a dessert. All in all a big disappointment. High end pricing and poor execution.

We were looking for a tasty meal in San Francisco and discovered this restaurant by accident following some folks on the sidewalk close to our hotel. Looking at the menu, we knew things looked promising. When we arrived without a reservation, we were able to find seating in a couple of the areas. We ordered crab, lobster and steak dishes and were not disappointed. Our waiter was incredibly personable and was able to explain the preparation of the dishes and recommended wine for our meal. The wine list has something for everyone from the average bottle to the insanely decadent Burgundy! If you are a fan of filet mignon, this is a great place for you. The filet comes with the bone in or without (we tried both and they were sensational). The dessert capped off the whole evening and then fortunately we were able to walk back to our hotel. Even though we found Bobo's by accident, it was the most fortunate accident. Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed!

Steak was nice. It didn’t come with any accompaniments so we ordered some sides. Some mark up on the sides! $9 for half a potato. Waiters so unfriendly. The most they spoke was when delivering the bill, explaining that as we weren’t from the US they had helpfully added 15% service charge for us just incase we weren’t aware that it hadn’t been included. Obviously we are British so we paid it #fartoopolite Decor - imagine eating in a 1980s beefeater / circus tent! $250 for 3 nice steaks, a weird Caesar salad, two cokes a beer and a prosecco. Avoid!

It was my son's 26th birthday and I'm just so happy we celebrated it here! Great ambiance, steaks were delish! Would definitely recommend for any type of celebration perfect and crabs se

On recommendation we ordered ny aged strip. Absolutely no flavor! Good service. No flavor. Place was fun. Classic. Staff friendly. Steak a let down

Great dining experience! The steak (in-bone filet mignon) was amazing. Very tender and very moist. But everything we ordered tasted great, from the crab appetizers to the mushroom and noodle sides. But, besides the delicious food, the restaurant is an attraction by itself, with its Venitian court jester theme, to its multiple levels and different table arrangements. This is certainly a food experience not not be missed in San Francisco!

We were staying at the nearby Comfort Inn, tired after a 7 day bicycling trip from Oregon and looking for some fine beef after surviving on camp food. We ordered the gently curried lobster soup and Dungeness crab and smoked salmon appetizers which were great, generous lumps of lobster and the crab/salmon/ricotta/avocado combo was terrific. The signature steak is the in bone fillet mignon didn't disappoint but more medium than medium rare as ordered. The prime 20+ oz ribeye was almost perfect, cooked to order medium rare, tender, juicy, caramelized, right amount of salt (light) and a hint of aging (4-5weeks), met our expectations and we were happy to pay $65 for the steak. The steaks were accompanied with a Stags Leap petite Shiraz (2014) which was excellent and great value. The wait staff was informative and helpful. Expect to pay $175 to $250 for 3 courses and wine.
Great Steak and Crab Eatery in San Francisco...
I have been wanting to go to this place for years. I finally made it there last night ( a busy Saturday) to celebrate a friend's birthday. There were 4 of us total, and we were lucky to have a reservation, as the place fills up rapidly. Bobo's has a great variety of wines to pair with one's meal. We tried a variety of them, and not one disappointed. We started out sharing 2 appetizers (crab cakes and the crab crostini). Both were truly delicious and made us want more. But we had to save room for our main course. I had the chilled iceberg lettuce wedge with fresh bleu cheese and pancetta (amazing!) and then had the 9 ounce filet mignon (medium), which probably was one of the best steaks I've ever had anywhere. It was so juicy and tender, one could almost cut it with a fork. I took bites out of my friend's dishes, which didn't disappoint either (Caesar salad with Dungeness crab, Whole Seabass, and the Mussels and Shrimp dish). Not only was all the food delicious, but the service was quick, friendly and efficient. Also the presentation was wonderful as well. Like most SF restaurants, everything is a la carte, so it can get very pricey, but well worth it. If you want to have a very memorable meal, I highly recommend this place. I'll be coming back again soon.
