6 of 68 Bars & Pubs in San Diego

We found ourselves staying in Little Italy and were looking forward to exploring Italian cuisine, yet, our favourite spot turned out to be Bolt Brewery! The food was better than traditional pub fare especially the chicken wings and the beer selection was great. I would recommend starting with a flight to try a few. The OG was my favourite. We went every day we were there. The Staff were awesome, they made us feel like regulars.

I asked the beertender what their most popular beer was, she poured me a pale ale. We ordered three different pints of beers. Each one was OK, light on flavor.

We stopped in for mimosas on a Saturday morning. Sat at the counter over-looking the sidewalk. Nice sports bar atmosphere, great spot to just relax.

Excellent beer! Great service! We arrive within 30 minutes of closing time, and the staff was fantastic. After last call, they were patient and encouraged not to rush our drinks. Really great experience!

This is an ok brewery/brewpub. That being said, there are many more fantastic options in this town to spend money.Go somewhere else like ballast point or stone brewery.

San Diego is such a brewing Mecca that a place like Bolt is easy to get overlooked. After all, just a few blocks down from the Little Italy location that we visited is the renowned Ballast Point tasting room and restaurant. But I evaluate places on what they provide, as I do not wish to grade on a curve and "punish" places for being in a tough market with stiff competition. Bolt's lineup of brews is more than adequate, and they even had some board games to play. Sure, the music was a little too loud for the afternoon, but maybe they are just trying to be noticed in Little Italy. Bolt may not be as good as the local legends Stone, Ballast Point or Alesmith to name but a few, but it is still good nonetheless.

Came here for dinner and a beer. We sat outside since we brought the dog. The outdoor seating is great for people watching. Ordered a few IPA choices. Not my favorite IPAs but they were more than drinkable. Next was chowtime. The fries were so-so. But with enough ketchup, anything is possible. The fish sandwich done nicely. Waitstaff could have been a little more attentive. Overall, nice spot for a beer in Little Italy, but not one of my favorite breweries.

My husband and I came here as part of a beer tour. The staff was great. They have games at the tables to play. I haven't played Jenga in over a decade. Forgot how awesome that game was!

Small brewery in La Mesa - only retail outlet selling their beer is this one in Little Italy. They make having a flight of four beers easy with their system of paper and pencil...... and the pub food is fine too. Take a chance and try Bolt beer.

Friendly staff, Good meny of beer go choose from. We enjoyed a flight and found the visit well worth it.

We tried a flight of 4 beers, some unique with fresh orange and lemon. Settled on an outstanding Double IPA and excellent Heff. Place was not busy at all from 5 to 7 on a Monday and service was friendly and quick. Our family had bbq chicken pizza, cheese pizza, garlic knots, and wings. All food was good, tasted great, and served hot when delivered. I would recommend this place for beer, and look forward to going back. All BEERS were excellent. Food was good enough to come back again, but I would not go out of my way just for the food. TIP, parking is hard to find and may require you park blocks away, the meters cut off at 6 during the week, so find any spot on a street near 6pm and it should not cost much.

Great selection of brews. Pretty basic, but its a brew pub-,you are here to try the beer. Had their batch 4 IPA. Excellent. Good place to stop for a taste.

We stopped here for some beer. I particularly enjoyed the Pilsner on tap. They also had a limited food menu. The pretzel was enormous, and very good.

First place I saw near my hotel. I was hungry and thirsty. It was good was not in a rush to return when I learned of other places nearby.

This is a smaller microbrewery, but there are still many choices. Very helpful staff and good basic selection of food. There is also wine on tap. We enjoyed the beers and the calmer atmosphere, here.

Limited beer selection compared to other micro brews in area, waitress/bartender not knowledgeable or helpful. We tried wings, the dry rub version was barely edible and no flavor, mango habanero were OK but prefer spicier.

Ended up here after ditching a bar for its bad service. We had walked by Bolt Brewery and decided to check it out. We got menus and sat down. Checked out their beer selection and bartender was very informative and gave us samples to try which made it easier to find the beer we wanted! Pizza and wings were delicious but we mainly stayed for the beer! Definitely place to come and hang and just relax since it's really laid back. We saw couples and friends playing board games and just having a good time.

Such different beers, all brewed in the house. Didn´t know which one to choose. After 4 days I have tried them all.

I just randomly got into this joint and i sut on the counter while some painting class was going on. i had 3 different beers and all were very good. staff was very friendly and would take the time to get to know you without that salesmen pitch. if you're an european ised to great beers just stop by and if you're not european stop by anyway. those 2 lads behind the counter are very fruendly and talkative so give a shot to their beer selection. im kind of tipsy right now. back to studio!

Found this looking for place for late afternoon lunch is San Diego. Cool open atmosphere and I like trying different micros. Order flight of 4 different Bolt beers and bacon burger, bolt burgers and wings. Tried Global D, Stout, red and doom. Really liked Stout and red. Burgers and wings were very good. Would stop again.

Try the sampler, then you can enjoy more of their different beers. They had very good variety of different styles. Great stuff!

Their beer is pretty tasty and the food is better than average bar food, I like the tacos. Get a flight of beer to see what you may fancy. Ali is kid friendly if you don’t mind drinking around toddlers. I don’t mind.

The brewery was fun, the food good-typical pub items, but very tasty and staff was pleasant and helpful. Arrived on trivia night and had fun with Chris who was trivia presenter. Great relaxed welcoming atmosphere!

Great selection of own brewed beers. A Friendly bar tender knowledgeable about their beers helps to select the best! Well worth a visit if in little Italy

We went here for the beer as we like beer. Bar atmosphere and it was crowded but we didn't eat there. Located in Little Italy neighborhood but we chose a Little Italy Italian Restaurant instead. Bar food and ok spot to stop for a pint.

We happened upon Bolt Brewery on a busy corner in Little Italy & enjoyed our beers & lunch so much we ended up going again the next day! The beer selection has something for every taste as most breweries do. One day I had the fish n' chips while hubby had the mahi-mahi burger (both delicious). The next day hubby had the hummus appetizer while I had the fried zucchini, yum! I enjoyed the mango beer while hubby preferred the hazy IPA. Waitstaff and bartenders VERY friendly, helpful, and fast. Bathroom huge & clean.

Nothing wrong with this brew pup. Fun casual atmosphere, great beer list and grill menu. Super friendly staff working hard on a hot afternoon. Hard to believe all the beers are basically gluten free! Loved the Batch #19 IPA!

We kind of stumbled upon this place but I generally love brewery food so I was excited. I ordered some street tacos and a soft pretzel. The first pretzel they brought me was so hard I couldn’t break it apart. I hate to send food back but it wasn’t edible. The second pretzel was much better. Everyone else seemed to like their food. We had a great time playing trivia!

My husband and I stopped by this brewery on a recent trip to San Diego and the beers were delicious! My husband started off with a flight ($10 for 4, 5oz. pours) and loved them all! I had two different beers and both were great! The waitress was great as far as answering questions and recommending beers! She also brought me a sample so I could try prior to ordering. We didn't have any food but the menu looked good with some nice lunch specials! If you are a craft beer fan and in the area, I would definitely stop by! You won't be disappointed!!

We were a group of 11 and we filled the place up. Note…tables (for 4) are welded in place which made it awkward for a large group. Server was very nice and quick on her feet. Interesting that one open side of their bar faces the street, so you can sit at the bar and be outside at the same time. Good variety of beers, fun merch

We stopped in here for a couple of beers and immediately fell in love with the place. We did not partake of food, but the burgers we saw coming out of the kitchen made us regret having dinner reservations elsewhere. The staff are super friendly and helpful, taking our order within minutes of arriving. And the beer was excellent.

This is a cool place to sit down and try beer that's not Miller or pabst, but similar in flavor profile. We tried a flight and the best one was a mango flavored light beer that was similar to a michelob ultra lime. The service was great and the beer is affordable, just not too impressive for a craft beer shop.

stopped by with friends in little italy in san diego. what a find!!! friendly and courteous staff. i do not know much about different beers so the waitress said they had 15 on tap so i tried a flight. 4 4oz beers. From a blonde ale to a mango beer i enjoyed a different flight every order. just go in and enjoy some different brews. you won’t regret it

I cannot begin to write a review about Miguel. He was amazing. He knew exactly what we wanted and was so attentive. Right after everything opened, this place was so clean, respecting distances. Nowhere I am going in Little Italy BUT this place, thanks to Miguel and Brendon. Coming back every week!!

We stoppad by here waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. We were a little bit dissapointed. The beers we tried feels a little below average for a Californian Brewpub. The had mostly IPA:s that tasted a little bit the same. Although a good place for a beer.

I had lunch here twice during my recent visit to San Diego, in fact it was the first place on arrival and last before leaving. Food is very good, not sure about lining up for service, bit confusing when there are multiple service points, would prefer some table service, however it all depends an what the person is used to. Good selection of beers, interesting courtyard setting directly under the approach to the airport, jets above don't seem that far away.

This is a brewery with bar food which is pretty good. If you get the basket of chips - they are great but one basket easily feeds 2 people. Very laid back atmosphere, but the staff know their stuff - particularly about the beers. I had a flight (or 2).

Nice place to hang out - friendly staff and varied beer selection. Worth getting a flight of beer to sample a few. Set in a buzzing location it’s worth stopping off for beer if you in the neighbourhood

I came here on Thanksgiving Day for a quick bite. Besides their fun beer menu they offered mimosas they were ok. They did let me sample the beer and the food was great wings and burgers done right.

Great stop for local beer and bar food. The flight set up here is nice because you can select from 4 beers. Gives you a chance to sample everything on tap. The Mahi Mahi tacos were not bad and the frings rounds out the meal.

Great beer. Loved watching the Friday night traffic from the sidewalk. Did not order food but others who did..... smelled fabulous!

Beer was great, but the fact that no one was eating should have been a warning! If I could give ZERO STARS I would We ordered their spicy pickle fries, Fish tacos and their Wiseguy burger which was supposed to come with avocado, bacon and bolt sauce, and onion rings. My wife, who got the burger, asked for it without the bun. EVERYTHING CAME OUT COLD--the burger was overcooked and it didn't have the avocado, bacon or bolt sauce. I was told that my tacos came with chips, I had to ask for the chips and didn't receive the guacamole I asked for. I told my server and asked to speak to the manager, who said he would "take care of us" That turned out to be a $20 discount--which after the tip (the server wasn't at fault) meant we essentially paid the full price for a meal that we had to go out and get more food afterwards We have had excellent meals in Little Italy in our visits to San Diego, but this was hands down the worst meal we've had and the fact that we were poorly compensated for this bad meal added insult to injury. Get beer at Bolt...but eat somewhere else!!

We visited the brewery while checking out Little Italy. We started off with a flight which we really enjoyed. We ended up hanging out for awhile because it was just a nice environment to chill. Great beers.

My wife and I stumbled upon Bolt Brewery by chance and are very glad we did. In addition to good beer, my wife loved the fish tacos and I had a great burger. Our visit was topped off with great service from a waiter who is totally invested in Bolt. We’re only in town for 3 days but we’re going back to Bolt again before we leave.

We found the Bolt Brewery while wondering through San Diego. Great beer options, and a wide variety of lunch options. We enjoyed the fried pickles along with our sandwiches. Highly recommended.

My wife an I called at Bolt Brewery for evening drinks in September 2019. Easy to find on the corner of India and Grape in Little Italy. We loved the locally-brewed 6-8% IPAs. We tried them all in a flight ($12). I’d love to come here again, but we were only in this (lovely) city for one day and one night. Recommended.

Bolt brewery old town San Diego is a real find! After stopping on our trolley bus tour (which was also a huge hit) , we decided to stop for a cold beer, tacos and garlic fries and OMG all 3 were amazing! Usually when I ask for lots of garlic it doesn’t materialise, but this place deliver! Tasty tacos, delish beers and friendly staff - definitely recommend if you are in the area

Small place in Little Italy but very nice and welcoming. Great food, cocktails and beer. I had a very good Margarita and my husband two IPA beers. They also have fligh (shots) of 4 different types of beer or Margaritas (for example). Excellent service and super welcome!

GOOD BREWERY FOOD SERVERs are NICE and attentive! First few weeks with the re opening new phase (CV-19) and adapting quite well. Appreciated them just being open~~!

Stopped to try some San Diego beers while walking to Little Italy. Nice pub and atmosphere. Servers were not very friendly or helpful. We only ordered beer so I can't comment on food. Beer was not very good at all, and we tried a flight of 4 and a pint. Couldn't even finish any of them. Obviously it was a popular place, just not the quality of beer we expected.

Needed a couple of beers after a day of walking and site seeing around San Diego.Friendly bar staff and a good choice of locally brewed beers. Would highly recommend a visit

We had dinner there, starting with a nice beer and followed by lovely food. The place is fun, and staff does a good job.

This place is a great brewery which isn't too big. The beer is good and the staff is friendly. I really like that the beer is brewed locally too! Food is good too. It never seems to be too overly crowded but with enough people to make you feel like it's busy. I sincerely hope this places makes it, as this has been a tough location for other bars.

Decide to go after learning the flight is one hour late. Fantastic pizza and beer! You will be well taken care of if sitting in the bar. Good service. Nice beet!

My boyfriend and I had a blast both nights that we came here. We both had a different type of Citrucel and both enjoyed it thoroughly. Happy hour specials until 7 PM. I would also like to mention that they have a large wall of games on the back for everyone to access while they are at the bar. They have trivia on Wednesdays.

We have been Little Italy residents since February, and this place quickly became one of our favorites. They have a nice selection of beers and burgers as big as your head. It is a great place to hang out, and they use Touchtunes for music....download the app and you get enough credits to play a few songs while you enjoy your beer. We live slightly closer to Ballast Point, but we find the staff and crowd at Bolt to generally be more personable.

Nice atmosphere, very friendly attentive service. I ordered a beer and I was given two beer samples additionally. Good Baja Chicken sandwich. Nice bun and meat and cheese. Steak fries not my fave but they were not the buck thick ones I really despise. Dogs are welcome Here. Nice friendly place. Quality beers and many of them.

The service was amazing! Angel was such an amazing waitress! She definitely put a smile on our faces! I would recommend it more for the beer. We had the fish tacos, but the burgers they had looked amazing. Beer and burgers who could go wrong? We decided to get tacos instead of burgers because we had burgers the night before, regretted it once we saw other peoples food XD

So my brothers and myself decided to try this joint out as it was about 30 seconds walking distance from our motel while we were down there for the weekend. We had already eaten so we decided just to do the beer thing. I tried the Bolt IPA and the Deez Hops Double IPA and I must say both were epic! I don't remember off the top of my head what my brother had but he did say he enjoyed all of it...my other brother doesn't drink so he did the soda thing but he had fun nonetheless. There's nothing like connecting with your brothers while drinking beer as some really random conversations will come about. The music was excellent mainly because we could choose it ourselves. The staff was very friendly the crowd wasn't snobby or trendy and everyone was polite and smiled. Bottom line, next time I'm in San Diego...I'm drinking AND eating there! AWESOME place. Thank You Bolt!

Stopped by for drinks and appetizers. Server was very friendly and gave advice where to go for dinner and happy hour. Fried pickles were great. We enjoyed their brews but some preferred boring drafts.

Bolt was an easy 5 min walk from where I was staying in Little Italy so I spent a bit of time there. The beers are yummy, staff is GREAT and the atmosphere is super fun!

It was difficult to review this place. The location was great. The beer was average (at best) for SD. I did not taste the food. The bartender was awesome and provided numerous recommendations for other places that all panned out. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. If you’re trying to find a beer that is unique and will blow your mind, go elsewhere. If you want a decent pint at a fair price poured by a cool guy without straying far from downtown, go check it out.

Ordered a flight, Mahi Mahi tacos, and pretzel. A flight consists samples of any 4 beers. Of all the beers tasted, Nitro stout was the best. Wasn't into their fruity beers. The Mahi Mahi tacos and pretzel were great! Our waiter (Chris, I believe) was great! At the end of the meal, he provided complimentary samples of the Nitro stout for the table! Great location and atmosphere. Will come again when in San Diego.

Great tasting, awesome staff. Totally enjoyed. Best brewery we experienced while in San Diego. . Great BREWS!!!!!!!

Happened upon Bolt Brewery while walking through Little Italy and ended up stopping by for a couple of beers while catching up on work. The spot if very laid back and the staff friendly. Happy Hour specials on beer and small plates - all of which were quite good!

Very impressed with their beer all good quality. The flavored blondes were all very good. I did not try any food.

We shared a couple of flights of beer, and they were excellent. My personal favorite was "citra local". The staff was friendly, funny and helpful.

Great service, amazing food. Their parmesan fries and fried pickles on the burger was amazing. We had quick and excellent service on Christmas Day! This is a must if you are in the area!

Took the day and strolled through Little Italy and hit 4 different breweries. Like Bolt quite a bit, nice staff and simple environment. They don’t have all their beers on tap but enough to enjoy.

The beer was good, but the service could have been better. Ended up having to go to the bar to order our beer because no one came to our table.

Popped in here whilst walking past. Very loud and lively lots of different beers with food. Seats are all stools. All very nice nice chap served us. Reasonable prices.

Super fun brewery! We loved the selections and a fun place to meet up with friends. Did not try the food but the beer was great!

So good we want to get a keg of it! Other brews we tried there are good as well but the citrus is our favorite. Bolt Brewing - Little Italy is a cute place on a busy corner. We've been stopping in on Saturday mornings (opens at 11am) after going to the Little Italy Farmers Market (also highly recommended...see my TA review). The staff is friendly and the facility clean and comfortable. We haven't tried the pizza or other food offerings yet but what we've seen looks tasty.

2 families famished after a tour of aircraft midway. Off to a bar to watch college foozball. Went to a bar in Little Italy the security said no kids, they were polite and made a number of suggestions we ended up at Bolt Brewery. Service was good, food was good. The beers geez I was crook, my fault! They are moorish!

I was by myself, so didn't stay all night, but this is a great spot for drinks and to visit. Paint the Town Red has an aftertaste to me, but the Brown ale is awesome! Ate the grilled chicken club upon waitress recommendation and wasn't disappointed. The chicken was juicy, veggies were fresh, and bun nice and toasty. Thin crispy fries that I like. Service is odd here...they'll come to your table when you first arrive if you wait long enough, but most people order their own at the bar. Once they've waited on you though, they're very attentive. I'll be back!

Tried three different beers and they were all very good. Nice pleasant service and a good atmosphere.

The food was delicious. I had a burrito and it was a very large portion. The OG IPA was fantastic. We were there in the early afternoon and wasn’t crowded and the service was great.

Great beer, friendly service and a fair price. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting San Diego area. In the little Italy section of town, next to nice restaurants for a nice date night.

Stopped in for a little refreshment. Great find! Had a nice beer and found a spot to do some people watching. Picked up a Bolt Brewery hat too (it was a really sunny day!). This is the oldest craft brewery in San Diego. They do a really good job.

Okay, we've been here four or six times since discovering it a month ago, so I guess it's time for me to write a review. We both really love this spot - great beer, good food, decent service - but I can't give it five stars, just based on spotty service alone. On our first visit, we met my brother and his girlfriend one Saturday afternoon. They were surprisingly empty, given it was football season, and a beautiful Saturday, to boot. We had one of the high-top tables near the bar, and our server that day was great. We each started with a flight of beer and then moved on to pints of our favorites. At some point, we decided to add food to our tiny table, so my husband and I shared the burger (with bacon and blue cheese), plus a pretzel. My brother and his girlfriend chose to share the Frings basket and an order of the wings. Everything was delicious and had us making those obnoxious yummy noises that only the highly intoxicated make. Our next visit was the following day (I may have mentioned that we are fans!), but the service wasn't quite as spectacular. We ordered another pretzel (because bread) and our favorite beer from the day before. Our waiter clearly forgot to place our pretzel order, as it took way too long for it to come out. When we asked him about it, he did apologize but ended up bringing us a pretzel that was mostly cold and slimy on the bottom. Not cool. The next visit was a nighttime celebration with friends. We managed to snag a table for four, which was surprising given how packed they were. The thing about our visit on this night is that they were out of practically everything we tried to order. Wings (all out), chicken sandwich (no chicken breast), chicken Caesar salad (no salad base), Balboa porter (fresh out), which was frustrating and kind of ridiculous. I mean, it was 8 pm, not 12 am! Subsequent visits have been just me and the hubs, with the mongrels in tow. I love that their patio is dog-friendly and that most of the staff is tolerant of them. "Tolerance", in this case, ranges from "polite" to getting down to their level and bringing them their own bowl of water. Points for that last one. Their burgers are large and tasty, and the fries are usually fried to perfection. Their wings, though, are the star. The Orange Habanero and the Dry Rub Spicy are the best. The dry rub will definitely kick you in the teeth, so beware! The orange habanero does have a bit of spice to it, but it's not overwhelming in the least. The sauce reminds me of a kind of candy I used to eat as a child, which is highly appealing. You can bet we'll be back again. Soon!

This brewery was a decent set up but the beer was only decent. Nothing totally great to speak of but it had a cool vibe. Worth checking out for one beer.

Bolt had a very good selection of beers and very good service. I had a beer flight. My favorite beers were: Deez Hops, Imperial Red and Wrecking Ball Triple IPA. We were short on time, so we didn't have any food. Bolt is located in Little Italy.

After visiting lots of breweries for a long weekend in SD, we tried out Bolt. The beers were decent, but nothing really stood out for us. The staff was helpful and friendly but I consider this place average due to all the other great breweries to be found in the area. I didn't try any food, but the beer pretty decent.

Stopped in to have a beer. Stayed because the atmosphere and service was great. Conner the bartender was knowledgeable

I passed by Sunday and Monday, but dropped in today and am I ever glad I did. The beer list is great and interesting. The food and service though were awesome. Laura (new by 3 weeks) has clearly found her calling. She bar tended like I’ve never seen anyone do before - effortless! Just delightfully welcoming and attentive with the customers and holds a great conversation. Honestly, the burger (Bolt) was fantastic also. Altogether worth a visit when in Little Italy. Go do it and enjoy!

Great little bar with a good menu (amazing steak bites, even tho they were small, tasted amazing.) We had appetizer of the steak bites and tater tots. The combination was great snack for two. Lots of local beers on tap. The best part is all the staff were welcoming & attentive. We will come back!

Not local BUT never miss when we’re in town. They consistently have non-traditional beers. Something that the BIG guys sell out for. The service is also consistently wonderful. If you want something different don’t miss it

This place has a GREAT bees list, and a pretty AWESOME Jalapeño Bacon Burger. The staff was VERY friendly and knowledgeable too.

We came here to watch one of the Euro 2016 semi finals during a vacation to San Diego. We stumbled on this place because the folks over at the Princess wanted to charge a cover fee and serve beer in plastic cups (no thanks!). The waitress that helped us was fantastic, she kept beer in our glasses and chatted with us about both the tennis (wimbledon) and the soccer. We had a great time. Ate some pizza (reasonable) a meatball sub (bread was a little stale, but reasonable) and some chips (good). Fantastic place, you wont be dissapointed if you are looking for a bar in little Italy.

Great array of beer and mixed drinks. Also good music playing but we could still talk. Also enjoyed catching up on the sports we missed while traveling. Tables are a nice wood. Place is clean. Good crowd. Knowledgeable bartender.

$5 beer flights on a tuesday. Winner winner. Works out cheaper than a single pint, (im never good at drinking maths) with the added benefit of trying a few different beers!

Lovely beer. Good service. The taster was in the correct order. Hubby loved the orange beer, me the chocolate stout.

Nice selection of their own brews. Pizza was delicious and the bartender was as sweet as could be. I don't think they have servers, at least they didn't when we were there. Definitely stop if you're in Little Italy and like good beer.

Stopped by chance during a walk in Little Italy, and thank goodness. Room with minimal furnishings and several TV screens. The burgers are good and the choice and quality of the beers is excellent. Fast service and a super helpful waiter in giving us advice on areas to visit in San Diego. Well done!

The brewpub was excellent. The fried pickles were delicious and excellent. Some of the best we’ve had. The mango me crazy was a delicious blonde ale. Easy sipping. My husband like the OG IPA.

We decided to try all the ales offed by Bolt. Unfortunate none were good. They were boring and lacked honest flavor. In all fairness to Bolt we will have to go back and try some of their other beers. But it won’t be anytime soon. We can’t comment on the food as we did not eat. Many breweries are hit and miss; give it a try.

We were asked to leave at 10pm as they were closing. The place wan't empty, but they decided to shut up shop. Very bizarre.

My wife and I wanted a late snack and a drink. Hopped off the trolley in Little Italy and sat down at Bolt only because it looked quick and easy. What an amazing surprise. Awesome cold beer served in flights. Perfect buffalo wings and hummus as our appetizer. Beautiful San Diego afternoon sun with outside seating. Service was very fast and friendly. It made our day!

We really enjoyed the beer here! We loved the hard pressed orange ale so much that we came back a second time! The staff was very friendly and the food was good too!

We have been to this pub a couple of times. Happy Hour all day on Tuesday and Super Bowl. The wings and chicken Caesar salad were great. A really fun place.

My husband and I stopped in while hitting up a few other breweries in the Little Italy area. We sat at the bar and appreciated the friendly, prompt and good service from the bartender. We did not eat, but rather only tried a few of their beers. There was a decent selection and the beers were pretty good. The vibe felt more bar like than some other breweries in the area, with music playing on the juke box. Plus, the windows were open and you could enjoy the beautiful San Diego weather while having a drink. It was a quick stop which was unexpectedly pleasant. Glad we strolled by and gave it a try.

Located in Little Italy and was packed (large protest nearby). No table service. Understaffed. One interesting brew was the "Hard-Pressed Orange Ale". It was so different it was good.

A nice stop for a quick beer. My favorite part was creating your own flight from any of the beers listed. Most places stick you with at least one beer that is undrinkable.

Great small brewery in Little Italy. We stopped in while making our way to dinner. A nice industrial tasting room, handful of seats belly up at the bar, lots of high top tables with metal stools. Small metal buckets on the table with coasters and cut up paper, and golf pencils. Available brews are listed on a large board above the taps. Your flight is your choice of 4. Write them down either take them to the bar or a server will swoop it up and the 4oz tasters are poured and brought to your table. 2 issues - 1. usually flights are organized in a preferred drinking order related to flavor, type and weight of beers. They just serve them as you wrote them down. 2. the nitro stout was FLAT. absolutely no micro bubbles. I enjoyed the hard pressed orange ale, the pilsner and the Global D - Belgian Triple. Large selection of IPAs (not my pint of beer) Overall, the atmosphere was casual and inviting. Service was prompt. No frills, just a simple tasty experience.

Many beer halls in Little Italy offer a happy hour. Few have as happy and upbeat a happy hour as Bolt Brewery. The place is almost packed. Service is speedy. A pint is $5. What more could you want? Tasty snacks? They have that, too. Enjoy.

On a late night walk on India St in Little Italy we found this brew pub by chance. Our beers we very good and although we didn't eat here (we just had an Italian dinner down the street) the food & pizzas others were eating looked tasty. Worth searching out for some good beer and food.

It was in the heart of Little Italy, San Diego, California that we came across this awesome brewery. The bright orange colours just grab your attention. Once you’re inside, you can see their large variety of craft beers on tap. They offer a beer tasting as part of their menu, where you can select any four of the beers on tap. The bartender explained each of the beers to us. They all sounded delicious; it was a hard task to only select four. My favourite was the Mango Me Crazy. All their beers are brewed locally at their La Messa location about 10 miles from their Little Italy location. Other than the variety of different local-brewed craft beers they offer wine, small plates as well as mains meals. As we were in a rush, we did not try any, but they looked amazing.

Went for pizza one evening. Lively sports bar atmosphere in a roomy setting with plenty of flat screens. Pizza was very good but not very big for two.

Flew into San Diego Sunday afternoon and stayed in Little Italy. Walking around we came upon the Bolt Brewpub on India Street. The place was packed, so we thought we should try it. Lots of beer choices .... I settled in with an IPA. Not bad. It was not as strong as what I've been used to in Oregon, but it was still good. The wife ordered up a Jalapeno, Bacon, Cheddar Burger and I had the Avocado, Bacon, Cheddar Burger. Absolutely delicious (and filling)! The burgers were very tasty and large (7 ounces I think). I had Parmesan french fries (worth the $2 difference). My wife kept sneaking some from my plate. The service was great also. Definitely worth a return visit!

Found this place online as we wanted to try craft beer. This place had amazing reviews and an assortment of flavors that really piqued my interest. Friendly staff, cozy venue, beer flights and wings! What more could you ask for?! I had wings with garlic fries which was a perfect pairing with the stout, ale and ipa beers I tasted. Soooo good! Definitely worth the craziness of parking in an congested area but it’s free parking everyday after six. Plan wisely and enjoy this spot!

Went to 4 craft brewers in San Diego (Karl Strauss, Coronado, Ballast Point) and Bolt had the best beer by far. Visited several times, not the biggest location but the beer was very good. Also tried the brat and fries for $6.95 during happy hour which was great. They have some well designed and good quality swag for sale as well. T-shirts are nice and with great logo. Friendly staff too.

Great choice of craft beers, I especially like the mango beer, just enough of a hint of mango without the full sweetness. The bar was loud and I can imagine it getting busy as the evening goes on. We were there for happy hour which gave us a $1 off each beer. Service was relaxed and friendly.

Another great San Diego Brewery. Made it their twice in Little Italy. Being a beer tourist loved tasting all the beers. Only place I found a BarleyWine. Friendly staff and great location.

New menu is fantastic! Gotta try the lobster tacos! Great improvement to an already fun place ….. also try their new location in Old Town!

This craft brewery has great brews and a comfortable, bar setting. There are hightop tables that allow for indoor/outdoor seating and plenty of regular tables as well. Lots of tv's to keep up with the sporting world but great food also. We dropped in for lunch, got hearty sandwiches with salad and a fried pickle for a reasonable price. There are lots of specials and happy hours depending on the day of the week. A great place to go if you just want to chill with friends, or hangout at the bar. Staff was friendly and knowledgable about the beers on tap.

We stopped in for a drink while walking back from another brewery to our hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and we grabbed a nice seat by the street where we could watch people walk by. The restaurant was busy but not crowded. We tried a flight of beers and I can honestly say I did not really enjoy any of them. Maybe I just picked their worst ones, but my wife felt the same way. We did not eat but the food looked decent. Kudos to the staff for being attentive, friendly and helpful.

Came here with my family and friends. In the evening hours they are totally family friendly. The food was great bar food! The beer was surprisingly good. I highly recommend the "Hop-O-Holic" IPA, it was awesome! We ordered the Pretzel (which was HUGE!), hummus, burgers and I ate the BBQ Bacon Burger-All of which I highly recommend! Truthfully, there was nothing bad or concerning to report. I think anyone who enjoys good beer and wants a meal would love this place.

My husband was delighted to find a true Bock on the menu. I enjoyed a Belgian ale. Extraordinary selection.

This place is cool as hell inside. I really love what they did with that property. I love that there are games to play and food to order. We did not order any food this time because we were going to lunch but we did about 9 beer tasters. All of the beers were decent but my friend and I agreed that none of them tasted the way they should....for example, the Witbier was drinkable but did not taste like a Whitbier at all. Same with the Pilsner. Same with the Nut Brown. We have been to many, many craft breweries in San Diego and I would rank this one somewhere in the middle...not bad but not the best. Would go back to try other beers.

I went here once with some work friends. They have their own beer and it is OK. It is open and airy. To me it was pretty uncomfortable. No booths or chairs. Uncomfortable stools. As to the food, I do not even remember anything about it. I think it was a small list of greasy things. Not sure, though. There are so many better places to go. Why go there? No reason I can see.

Thought we'd grab a quick beer and discovered a gem. We really loved the beer especially the orange wit. We stayed long enough to order food and that was well above average too. Wish this was down the road from us.

Located on the corner. Great Nitro Dan Stouts. Rustic modern feel. Came in on an afternoon and there's a nice breeze that comes through the windows. Great selection.

The beer was good the bar tender was nice.. But we came in to eat, and NO where was it mentioned and the service Failed to mention, till we had order the drinks that the kitchen has been closed for a month.!

I stopped in to visit Bolt on a Saturday evening. It wasn't super crowded and the service at the bar was speedy. They have good beer, games in the tap room, and plenty of space to hang out. Bolt is a change of pace if you are accustomed to visiting breweries and tap rooms.

Really good beer here! I think I had an amber ale. Atmosphere was fun. We sat at the bar stools overlooking the sidewalk as the sun set.

Noisy. Great staff. Food ok. Expensive. Undercooked Brussels sprouts. Beer good but expensive, as are the cocktails. Good tacos. Also expensive. Definitely not a "cheap eats" place

We enjoyed trying some of the local beers during our recent trip. Always fun to sit at the bar and chat with the bartender.

Selection of craft beer phenomenal friendly staff great bar food...hummus is amazing...great atmosphere

Nice open seating makes this a great spot to sample one of their many good beers. After checking out the many shops and restaurants in the area, it's a great place to kick back.

We ended up here by accident expecting the Uber driver to bring us to a spaghetti place in Little Italy but I guess I had the wrong address. Best mistake of the trip! Lol Service and food were amazing! Even the canned red wine was great! Never had a better burger and the ranch dressing was the best I’ve ever tasted. The garlic Parmesan fries will melt in your mouth. So happy we ended up here!

Hung out with my nephew while on a business trip. Great selections of beer of tap. Ordered burgers and other fast finger food... they're ok. Bar food! Like the atmosphere of the local surrounding. It was hot but luckily there is nice ocean breeze.

Loved the orange ale! Nice variety of beer to sample. Friendly staff. A great stop in Little Italy area.

Hot day, cool bar and lots of different drafts available. On a corner with a bit of a view and big open windows; there are far worse places and ways to avoid dehydration!! Helpful and knowledgeable servicing staff explained the different brews on offer, offered samples and advice to help us choose something suitable. We didn’t eat this time, but looking at what was coming out of the kitchen it seemed worth a future visit for food. Families were eating too, so it is clearly aimed at more than just drinkers!

visited for lunch on a Saturday. Place was busy but we found a high table and stools in the corner of the bar. Beer selection is excellent the food menu was much shorter. You order at the bar and get a number in return. The food came quite quickly, I had dry rub chicken wings that were really good and came with carrot and celery sticks, my wife had hummus with flat bread and assorted vegetables - well just carrot and celery sticks ! I think she was expecting more.
Pleasantly surprised
Liked the laid back atmosphere. Beer was good, although not a huge selection. Food surprisingly good. Worth the stop.
