We met another couple here for dinner. We were early, so had some time to enjoy happy hour. The St. Louis Framboise was delicious, as were the chili donuts. The waitstaff and service was great. We then sat in the front patio area and enjoyed a leisurely dinner of burgers, fried dates, yellowfin and salads. Some things were okay, some were delicious. We would definitely return.

Good service, good menu, good quality with medium quantities. Ribs, catfish tacos and onion rings did not disappoint.

Had a birthday dinner for 7 people and the staff was super helpful about moving tables around so we were comfortable. Ordered the mini-mega and it was the perfect size for all of us (with a little bit left over for my lunch the next day) and tasted amazing! Terrific cocktail and drink menu as well. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant: go and eat there.

Great selection of craft beer. Brisket is legit. Bacon building 'rocks' were inedible. Collard greens were sweet, (not my thing) empanadas were tasty but super greasy. All in all, the food is fair but somewhat overpriced.

We have enjoyed going here almost since the beginning. Not only is the BBQ expertly prepared, but the menu offers both Boneyard Classics and seasonal dishes (crab ceviche in photo). There are rotating beers offered by local craft brewers and a good wine list. Kudos to owner Aaron Robins.

My daughter rented an outdoor area for a family get together at this restaurant. The food selection was fun and DELICIOUS. Hamburgers, pulled pork, fries and onion rings.

If you have had enough of fast food or haute cuisine and have a yearning for BBQ food then Boneyard Bistro really hits the spot. This small place situated in Sherman Oaks just minutes from all of the chaos of LA serves authentic smokey meats that are smoked and cooked to perfection. From the amazing Bacon Blocks through to the Evenater plate of smoked chicken, Pork & Beef robs the flavours are amazing as are the sauces and sides. There a great selection of both beer and wine and the service is friendly, casual and so efficient. Jenny was great.

I love this restaurant and have been here many times. The food is so delicious I've had several different things on the menu. Patty melt! Yummmm!! They have a great beer selection! I would recommend anyone to go here and I will continue to go whenever I get chances to.

I've been to this place before.... I had hoped this time would be better but not..... Sorry but the happy hour isn't worth it..... Half price wine Wednesday isn't really what they claim..... Only certain bottles are half off. We went for a party.... Had to leave a deposit of 300 dollars to reserve a table..... One girl in the party wanted dessert and the waiter questioned her if she was going to order food first..... We had to ask 3 times to get a desert menu..... It took forever to get our drinks. We had to ask a different waiter for water. Not worth the time of the money . I definitely would not recommend this place for a large party at all. They had the automatic gratuity on the entire bill including the tax.... Some how are Bill was 71 dollars before the happy hour discount but then with tip it came out to 73....Save your money.

Great craft brews on tap, pork cooked to perfection...I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here on a Saturday afternoon.

This place is a real delight - though you should plan a few trips to the gym in the days after. i don't remember the last time I ate this much - completely unintentionally, of course. Although everything is grilled, fried and bathed in all sorts of things that would make your doctor freak out, there are some really unusual flavors here too. The cheesesteak spring rolls were just awesome, the brisket is extraordinarily well prepared, and it's amazing how well brie survives being deep fried. Fundamentally, you can feel yourself gaining weight just by reading the menu, but if you're going to splurge you may as well do it style. The place is small - very small, with a relatively private outdoor seating area - and the service is fast and efficient. I'd highly recommend taking the advice from the servers since their recommendations were excellent. It seems to be a real hit with locals (many of which seem too thin to eat here regularly). The only downside is that it's a little pricey, and their burgers aren't really anything special (which is a huge surprise since everything else is so good). But then getting a burger seems to be the easy way out - you'll be rewarded for being adventurous here.

My wife and I live in the neighborhood, love ribs and thought we've give it a try about 6:30PM on Friday night. The place was PACKED with drinkers...on the left side of the restaurant, which is a full-fledged BAR with large screen TV's, hi-tables and a lot of 30-somethings letting off steam from their busy week. We went to the hostess and asked if they had a table for two for dinner. She told us it was a 40 minute wait. As we were leaving, another hostess called after us and told us there was a table in the other room (the restaurant portion), where we could sit immediately. That room was also quite filled, but with a few tables open. First day on the job for Hostess #1? After about a 10 minute wait, we were given menus. Another 10 minutes and our waiter arrived to take our orders. Time to twiddle our thumbs? The food (ribs and brisket) was satisfactory, but not special...same to be said for the sauces. I got the 1/2 rack of pork ribs which was quite large, enough for two people in my view. So it's mediocre food, but a lot of it! ;-))) The real issue for us was the NOISE. After a while, at about 7:30, the noise level was deafening. We couldn't hear each other from across the table. It was totally uncomfortable (almost painful!) for us. When we finally paid the bill and stepped out onto Ventura Blvd, we smiled with relief. Damn! That level of noise is HURTFUL! BTW, we're in our 60's and were, by far, the oldest people there! Maybe that explains everything! ;-)))

I've had several meals here, and consulted chef Aaron Robins when I wanted to buy a smoker for my house. It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The pork ribs are served wet or dry, and both are wonderful -- tender and tasty, with just the right amount of tooth and smoke. The smoked ribeye is one of the best steaks you'll ever devour. Be sure to come on a Monday, when you can also try their double dipped fried chicken -- the buttermilk breading is light, but tangy and crunchy, and the meat inside is incredibly tender and moist. The beer list is remarkable, with something for everyone, and lots of hearty choices that go with the barbeque like hand and glove. .

We visit the Boneyard every year when our son is in a play across the street at the Whitefire Theatre. We come from 70 miles away otherwise we'd frequent it on a much more regular basis. The food, the service, the ambience is all great and can be counted on year after year! This year we came for dinner and post show late night drinks with family and friends and sometimes just the two of us. Drew was our waiter 5 of the 6 nights we were there and he is excellent! Friendly, courteous, and accurate with our orders. He even remembers what we like from week to week! We highly recommend Boneyard Bistro for dining and late night drinks! We will return!

Pretty disappointed. 1) My wife’s entrée (fish and French fries) came out room temperature 2) I ordered prime rib melt – stupid me, thinking that this $26 entrée would be a nice piece of prime rib with cheese melted on it – interesting concept. What I got was a $26 Phila Cheesesteak! I sent it back and ordered beef ribs – they had very little meat on them and were overly salty! Service was just ok. Ambiance was nice.

Boneyard Bistro is a fantastic restaurant in the heart of the Valley. The BBQ is incredible, with many different types of meat, burgers, and sandwiches available. Also, the wait staff is very knowledgeable on beer and food pairings. Don't hesitate to ask for recommendations. The atmosphere is relaxing and fun, and the bar has a great selection of unique cocktails and craft beer. Go hungry! Highly recommended.

I hadn't been to Boneyard Bistro for about 8 years but had fantastic memories of some of the best beef ribs I've ever tasted - so I’d been dreaming about returning for a while. The hostess was kind and my friend and I were given a decent table. Note: the high ambient noise level and reflective surfaces made it a little difficult for us to hear each other. The waitress was excellent in all respects and gave us enough time to start a beer and look at the menu. We each ordered the 50/50 plate, which includes 3 beef ribs and 1/2 rack of baby back ribs, plus one side. We both asked for the collard greens to add a vegetable. I also ordered an extra side of baked beans, which were fine. Boneyard Bistro uses very high quality ingredients for everything, and the portions are generous. The baby back ribs were meaty but heavily marbled with fat. They were fork tender and good tasting, but more time and temperature was needed to allow some of the fat to cook out. I don’t mind a little fat, but these babies were just too fatty for this camper. Then there was the signature item at Boneyard Bistro, the BBQ beef ribs. I picked up a rib (they were fairly meaty) and sunk my teeth into a chunk of tender, medium rare beef, in no way falling off the bone, but palatable if you like your BBQ beef ribs medium rare. The problem is that NOBODY in this industry cooks BBQ beef ribs medium rare. Most people want their beef ribs cooked quite differently than what I was served at Boneyard Bistro. Note: the universally accepted barbecued beef rib is prepared with abundant love and agonizing patience, cooked exclusively over hardwood or in a wood-fired BBQ oven, thus picking up a wonderful smoky-beefy flavor with a sumptuous melt in your mouth texture. Please refer to attached photo examples of perfectly cooked BBQ beef ribs as a reference. Medium-rare BBQ beef ribs are simply not what people want, and there is little culinary artistry in them. A genuine surface crust or texture cannot be easily faked. Cooking beef ribs via sous vide, then quickly finishing them either on a hot grill, in a very hot oven or with a culinary blowtorch cannot yield a good surface. This impression or appearance of "short-cuts being taken" is the feeling I got from Boneyard Bistro’s BBQ beef ribs, based on their appearance and texture, plus the fact that there was little genuine smoke or beef flavor. Note: One dead giveaway is that Boneyard’s beef ribs show almost NO SHRINKAGE at the bone, unlike perfectly slow-cooked BBQ beef ribs. Without saying more about these ribs, just look at the photos and ask yourself if these ribs were lovingly cooked over hardwood, for a very long period of time. Moving on briefly to the collard greens - the portion was generous but contained an unusually large amount of meat mixed in with the greens; there may have also been bacon fat. We ordered the greens hoping that they would be “the healthy part,” but the collard greens were heavily sauteed, overly rich and very strong flavored, so neither of us enjoyed or finished them. Now of course I realize that some readers may favor these dishes exactly the way they are shown in the photos, but for me, this long awaited meal was a near total disappointment. I also feel that to order a $50 entree and get only the side of collard greens is not what I would call generous, rather, some might consider it stingy not to offer the option of a small salad (not an entree salad) with a high priced entree like this. These flaws are why Boneyard Bistro is earning two lone stars from me, as a wake up call. However, given the excellent service, we didn't feel like saying anything to the waitress, which would have been awkward and spoiled the mood of the dinner, which was positive in spite of the food. Patient readers, thank you for taking your time to look at my review. As always, please keep in mind that individual people need to be the ultimate judge for themselves when it comes to food like this. Note: I have left a couple phone messages for Boneyard Bistro's manager, to give them an opportunity to respond to my feedback. Unfortunately I am only available during the day, and the manager prefers to contact me in the evening so we are playing phone tag.

Took my family there for a birthday celebration. There were five of us. Except for the brisket which was melt in your mouth outstanding, everything else was nothing to write home about. I also thought everything was overpriced.

Yes, this is a Bar B Q but so much more. Creative dishes from a take on Asian duck to fresh mussels with chorizo, from my favorite burger ANYWHERE (The Southwest Patty Melt) to fine steaks, Boneyard has it all!

For a Saturday night at 7:45, we were pretty surprised that they were already out of Beef Ribs. We ordered the BBQ shrimp, chicken, and brisket. They were all fine, but nothing spectacular. The brisket - my test of BBQ capacity - was not well trimmed, so it was half meat and half fat. It had a small smoke ring, but was too firm for my taste - definitely not from the point.

For burgers and ribs a great place with a friendly ambiance a nice place for a family meal. Valet parking out front

Tried Boneyard after reading Yelp reviews. Think the reviews are somewhat over rated given my personal experience. It is suppose to be known for its creative mixology and BBQ. First, the brisket is very good...you can order lean only for your choice of meat. They also offer pull chicken, ribs, fried macaroni and cheese, collard greens, fries, etc. I found the food to be very average and the drinks to be subpar. I ordered my standard drink which is a cosmopolitan and it was not very good. Switched quickly to house red wine which was better than the cosmo (go figure). This place is too pricey for the service and average food. I guess if you have never had real BBQ, then this would be good to some people. The atmosphere is also not inviting as it consists of wood benches. All in all, I liked some of the dishes but none enough to return.

Used to be better. Ribs ok. Not great. Sometimes dry. Been there many times because they're local. Burgers better than ribs. She emu for years . Friendly staff. Bar drinks are the best we've had anywhere . Used to have dinner therefore frequently but wanted more varied menu.

Although a little uninspired by the name, the locals had made the reservation, and I was not consulted. Unsure of what to expect, we were warmly greeted by a friendly lady who looked to be about ten months pregnant! Three diners, we wisely decided not to order any first course, but I must confess to diving into the bread basket and making short work of the fantastic crispy-outside-all-soft-and-fresh-inside corn bread. This was looking promising...!! The food arrived in good time: one baby back ribs; one brisket sandwich and mine was a brisket (small size at $19 I thought was great value). My yardstick for barbecued brisket is Smoque in Chicago and I think this one was right up there! It was everything you expect it to be: falling-apart tender, beautifully charred on the outside, all soft and pink on the inside, with just the right amount of fat to flavour the meat and prevent dryness. The ribs were gorgeous (I tasted one, although I'm not really the finger-lickjng type, I don't really like getting my hands dirty!) and the sandwich was also delicious, but I'm glad I reserved the real estate in my tum for the magnificence of that brisket! I will CERTAINLY return for an encore before my trip is done... Hooray Boneyard Bistro on a spectacular gastronomic experience, could we talk about the somewhat gruesome name...?!!

The "Grilled Meat" dinner: $30 or so. "Side" dishes: between $3 and $7. Sandwiches: $16 to $18. Hickory smoked chicken: $17 to $19. I ordered the Ribs and ¼ Chicken with Cole Slaw and a soft drink. With the tip, my dinner was just under $40. The food was good and so was the service. However, I didn’t think it was worth the cost. By the way, when it comes to parking - read the signs.

We visited last week with local friends and loved it. 42 beers on tap (yes 42!), we all choose a variety of their ribs which were all finished off very quickly - my 7 year old daughter managed a half rack to herself - believe me this is high praise! If visiting Universal, I would also recommend dropping in on your way home...

If you are looking for a great choice of BBQ Food you gotta eat here. They have a wide Selection of choices at great prices. The food is done to your perfection. From Chicken to Ribs. From Beef to Pulled Pork they have it all. & the Desert menu is also great it You have any room left for that. Highly recemond this Eatery.

My sister and I decided to come here for lunch after a long day of shopping. We've both been told, this place is quite good and wanted to see for ourselves. The location is convenient and easy to access, being right on Ventura Blvd. The inside is cozy and rustic and you have a choice to eat in the dining area or opt for the bar. We decided to eat in the dining area and were seated right away. After a moment, we were greeted by a socially awkward waiter who when asked about recommendations, didn't really seem all that excited about the food. Soon after he place our waters as awkwardly as his personality, at the edge of the table away from us. I then knew the experience would get more interesting. I ordered the bacon and blue cheese stuffed dates for an appetizer. They literally showed up sad and minuscule on a plate. The flavor was average and hardly worth the trouble it took to stuff and fry the bite size fritters. The sauce was sweet and syrupy causing the flavors to be unbalanced with overwhelming sweetness. To make matters worse the wilted yellow bed of lettuce they were nestled in had nice big bug eaten chunk missing from one of the leafs. My sister told the waiter to never serve lettuce like that again. During the course of the next twenty minutes another waiter bumped the back of her chair nearly 7 times, as he fumbled through the restaurant with food and plates. I ordered their signature burger and my sister had the crispy chicken wings. Of everything we tried, the wings were stellar. Excellent flavor, portion, and presentation. The burger was average just a basic burger with nothing unique. At 12.99 a la carte, they could have been a little more creative. After all, this is LA. Overall I wouldn't go back. We could have tried the barbecue, but began losing out appetite from the experience and decided to keep it simple. I did look at the the other entries in the restaurant but honestly, I would probably rather go somewhere in Crenshaw if I wanted serious authentic BBQ. At least I know the portions would be comparable to the price. Because who goes to a BBQ joint for chintzy servings?

I don't know why I had not come here before. The BBQ here is some of the best I have tried anywhere in the U.S. The meats are perfectly cooked, full of flavor and great to share. Be sure to try the bacon sticks as a starter. The only complain I would have is that they do not have sweet tea or Alabama white sauce available, but that is the only bad thing I can say (and not really bad). Service was great, too. I highly recommend this place.

If you enjoy delicious BBQ meats, come here. Every visit reminds me why I always come back. You can't pick something off their menu and not like it. (vegans need not apply) Good portion size, excellent sides (the dill cole slaw is my favorite), downhome decadent desserts and a drink menu that is pretty darn expansive with whiskeys, beers, wines..something for everyone for sure. And the service has always been super attentive on each visit. We always make a reservation just in case because I would be very disappointed to not be able to get a table after looking forward to their bbq each time I'm in LA. They do have a bar area as well on one side and dining on other side and out front covered. Let me not forget to mention their deviled eggs are scrumptious.

We had an amazing time at Boneyard Bistro. The rub on the Ribs was so good, they didn't need any sauce. And the Deep Fried Mac & Cheese with a little tabassco sauce made our meal. Aaron was such a gracious host with a great sense of humor. We asked him to pick a special bottle of a red wine of his choice and WOW did he make a great selection. We can't wait to go back.

To put it simply, I loved this place. I am a big eater and the Three Way Combo was made just for me. The pork ribs were perfect, the beef ribs were meaty and delicious and the tri tip was perfectly cooked. If I lived in the area this would be regular spot for me. This is carnivore heaven. Enjoy!

Our visit to Boneyard Bistro on a weekend was OK. Our party of 6 enjoyed ribs, which were quite good (though not the best we've had). Service was perfunctory, rapid-fire, but accurate. It's a pretty standard menu, featuring a variety of meats (ribs, chicken, pulled pork, brisket) available in various combinations. But there are some unexpected items (for a BBQ place) such as Kobe beef chili-filled "donuts," and scallops or blackened catfish. The "Burn In Hell Burger" menu item warns customers that there are "no refunds" and "no mercy." Extensive beer selection and standard sides (collard greens, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, fries, etc.) complete the menu. (Oh... one surprise: "fried mac and cheese," which turned out to be not as special as it sounded.) The "ambiance" when we visited was "skull & cleaver loud." Not easy to engage in conversation while enjoying our ribs.

Went here for dinner with the family and really enjoyed ourselves. The place is pretty hip with a cool vibe and definitely a place to go for drinks and just hang out. The bar area is open and airy and when the patio is opened up and the sun is setting it is a really cool place to be. I could sit there forever in those moments. The food is pretty good for LA BBQ. But if you have ever had BBQ in a hole in the wall joint in the middle of no where with paper plates, paper napkins and 1 kind of beer for sale while sitting on 40 year old picnic benches, you will not think this even poor BBQ. That said for what it is and where it is, the food is pretty good. What make this place tough to swallow (pun intended) is the prices. The food is good and the drinks and service are fine but they charge like you are eating at some type of LA Gastropub. BBQ can be great, hell it can be otherworldly but it is not Gastropub or Haut Cuisine and should not be priced as such. I enjoy the bar and the drinks, and the food is pretty good but the prices make it a once in a while sort of place for anything beyond drinks and appetizers.

We went for a casual meal, so we decided to try the BBQ here. I must admit that when we looked at the menu, we were taken aback by the prices. Fortunately, the food was good.

Once a quarter this fantastic restaurant puts on a seafood boil. It is absolutely out of this world. I think I ate a crab leg as big as a chicken. if you live in the Valley and have not visited this restaurant, shame on you! It is on my top ten list in the Valley. You will not be disappointed on any night. On Seafood boil night your stomach will end up smiling for an entire week.

We went to dinner as a group of seven. We ordered the sampler platter of babyback ribs, St Louis style ribs, BBQ chicken and pulled pork, andouille sausage, andTri-tip called the mini mega. The platter came with sides including baked beans, collard greens, french fries and coleslaw. What a meal. There was plenty of food for the seven of us. The ribs were cooked just right. The beer choices were great and the service was friendly and efficient.

I come here often but sometime it's a hit or miss with the ribs. They have a great bar which is fully loaded with draft beers and liquor. Friendly, fast great service. Price are a little high.

Scrumptious, plentiful with just the right amount of heat in the seasonings is how I would describe the food. A new twist on deviled eggs was delicious and the hush puppies the best I've ever eaten. As it was a birthday celebration for a group of 12 we ordered the mega platter which was so bountiful everyone took some home. The service was impeccable from the time of reservations to the end. The only drawback is the parking, street only.

I've ate here a number of times, and even have a 5-star review of them for eating in with great ribs and brisket. I've always though they were a bit cheap on the sides (only one small side comes with a dinner plate) but usually there is some bread included at least, but today's really was over-priced and underwhelming. I ordered takeout and picked it up. Monday's they do fried chick special. I was pretty disappointed to get home and see what I'd paid $33 for (before a tip!). The chicken in my opinion was overcooked and brown rather than a golden. It tasted, 'okay' - it didn't have that juicy, salty moreishness that you associated with fried chickn and although it was meant to be 1/2 chicken it had to have been a tiny chicken. I took the coleslaw as my side and added on a corn with butter. I seriously, still can't believe the corn they give me for $5. $5!!!! $5!!!!!! for corn. At the least I'd have expected a full cob, but they give me what was barely 1/2 a cob and the tapered end at that. That's just theft for something that costs so little. I'll probably go back for ribs and brisket - but I do feel pretty aggrieved at having spent $33 on this and they've lost a lot of goodwill from me based on this meal.

One of my favorite go-to places around the neighborhood. Great bbq and drink menu. The service was great and it's not too difficult to get a table here. Awesome ambiance.

This was my second trip to the Boneyard in the past two years. The first time I ordered the rack of ribs, which were pretty good. This time I ordered the Tri-Tip with a side of potato salad. Meat was good and cooked medium rare, just as I ordered it. The BBQ sauce is pretty good but a touch too sweet for my taste. The service was very good and the prices are a little high but that is normal for Ventura Blvd. restaurants. It's still a good place to eat and drink.

The crowed was not in yet at 6 pm Saturday evening. There is an inside seating and kind of outside covered/ in closed patios eating ,we chose the second one. The Decor is simple and practical, nothing fancy, but odd painting of Skeleton figures on the walls! The Menu was kind of different, and we were not sure what to order, so we asked our waiter Frank to suggest a couple of dishes to us. They did not sound very good, so we chose one appetizer and asked to surprise us with two more, he selected the pulled Pork Dumplings and the Spring Rolls , we selected the Tuna Tacos.the Tacos were kind of salty but tasty if you like salty, the Dumplings were very yummy with a great coleslaw , but it should not have been put in the same dish.the Spring rolls were very tasty too. We also ordered the Southwest Quinoa salad, which was kind of Bla and had very little flavor to it, so we ended up blending the Coleslaw from the Pulled Pork Dumplings dish to the salad which ended up giving it a nice zest the it was missing . There were the two of us, my lover and I and we could not finish them all. I did not have any drinks but she had a Whiskey Sour, but both of us ended up later in the night with heart burns ! Why? I don't know ! The over all taste was good, but the mix...? Or maybe our stomachs are just too sensitive. The bar area filled in a little later and the place was happening . Frank and his helper were very accommodating and served the food very fast. Don't forget to enjoy their Mini Corn bread cup cakes! Which they serve with the bread.

Besides a full menu that's BBQ it's very diverse and last night tried the crab cake and wonderful bone in rib eye steak. I've had their wonderful BBQ which is amazing and offered dry rub or with sauce (try the ribs ) but this steak matches alongside the fanciest steak places in town. Asparagus was perfectly cooked. My companion had brisket ,WOW, moist tener and flavorful. We will be back many more times again

That's because you can't find any parking during regular hours. Tried the fried macaroni and cheese, grilled brisket and cheese sandwich and hamburger. Great drink selection and some great wines. Happening place after a show. Loud and lively. Service just OK.

Best damn slow-cooked baby back ribs I've had anywhere in years! No room or would have had 2nds.It starts with the raw materials of course, goes to the seasonings and rubs, then the slow cooking process (over 18 hours) and finally the tangy, tasty sauce. We devoured our ribs; we also enjoyed chicken wings, awfully crunchy good onion rings and coleslaw. The ale and beer selections are wowzers too. What's slightly amiss is the wine list with its California Zinfandel tilt. There are a few gems but mostly the list is scaled down to the perceived tastes of the customers. Corkage is reasonable so next time nay bring an interesting bottle or 2, and there will be a next time for sure. Bravo! Encore!

I visited The Boneyard with friends last Sunday evening and couldn't believe how bad the food was! Our server was very pleasant but our meal went straight down from there. I ordered a Mediteranian Chopped Salad that really was not fit to eat! My girlfriend ordered the same salad and had the same thing to say. My friend's wife ordered a Salmon Salad and the fish was miserably over cooked! All in all, a very bad meal.

Have been to this place a couple times. Let me get the food out of the way- it is tasty, have some great bbq items and burgers. They have a good bar selection, quite a few good beers on tap- mixed drinks, etc. The staff is typically pleasant, however our experience last night left us all a little sour. Our food took over an hour to get to us. It was Friday night at 9, and Fridays can be busy- the restaurant had basically full tables, but not a bunch of people waiting to get in at the door. My friend after the hour wait asked to see the manager- She immediately stated our waiter had been nice, but our wait for our food had been an hour and still was not there. They had continued to bring us bread......but we had come for bbq. The manager's response was- 'Well it is Friday and we are busy. If you don't want to wait you should not come when it is busy'. This floors me- when you could even at this point lie and make up an excuse of being short-handed in the kitchen or something?? I don't expect on a busy night to get my food the second I order it, however an hour plus is pushing it. She lacked experience in dealing and maintaining customers. She is in the service industry, we were very civil and not making a scene and angry, just making the comment to find out what is up and that an hour is a little long. I am not sure at this point if we will go back. I find it very upsetting when the management can't at the very least be gracious or sympathetic to our wait.

Had not been here for several years, probably because it’s out in the San Fernando Valley. Some wine geek friends suggested we go for fried chicken and bubbly. We each brought bottles of high end brut and rose champagne and that’s what we drank all night. We ordered regular and spicy fried chicken, both of which were done to perfection, plus a bunch of sides, plus a mixed barbecue meat platter. Food was sizzling good, service was excellent, and the pairing with our bubbly worked out just fine. And oh yes, this place rocked all night.

Excellent barbecue. Try everything including the brisket, ribs and sausage. Ample sides including fried mac and cheese. Supreme beer list and service! Go!

The location is easy to get to, the atmosphere was nice and the service was great. About the food.. I came here for Happy Hour for the $5 well drinks which were decent. I had the bacon building blocks and these looked over done but were tender and delicious. The house curing and double hickory smoked bacon really bought out the flavor. The fried mac n cheese were good but nothing special. The venison sliders were great! The meat was very tender, the fontina cherry jam was a nice touch and the mini brioche looking bun was fun. They don't come with any fries so I got a side. They don't have ranch but a cilantro mixed one that tasted more like a green goddess dressing. The kobe beef chili cheese donut was great and my favorite. My least favorite item was the bulgogi tri tip lettuce cup. The cup was soggy and the beef was dry and chewy at the same time. I'm glad I tried this place but next time I come back, I will have to go for the BBQ.

We met my brother and sister in law for dinner and drinks here! They go here often. The food was amazing! The service was great as well! We got the king dessert and the banana pudding . It was very busy but there wasnt a wait and food was timely as well!

If you are looking for the best bbq in town, check out Boneyard Bistro, in Sherman Oaks. It isn't cheap, but it's worth it every penny. We save up to go. And we have never been disappointed. Honestly I have never tasted better smoked chicken, ever. It has a dry run of delicous spices and it is cooked to perfection, every time. And the coleslaw is phenomenal. I've been trying to figure out the recipe, I wish I could get it, because I LOVE IT so much!!!!! I've come closer, but I haven't gotten it yet. They have one of the best beer collections and beer on tap and they have a happy hour, too. But make a reservation in advance, by a few days or go early. LOVE THIS PLACE ! Let me know if you love it, too!

Ate there with family. The beef ribs were great. Portions are large. Service was attentive and pleasant. Good place for up-scale barbecue.

And this may be the reason for our only ok experience, since BBQ is what this restaurant is famous for. Men had OMG burgers, which were good. We shared an order of onion rings and these were only ok, but the spicy dipping sauce was good. My shrimp tacos were all shredded cabbage with a few small breaded shrimp. Not ok for $24. Some sort of citrusy sauce was a definite must. Thousand island dressing was too thick for all the cabbage. Friend's quesadilla was also too dry with a small amount of brisket. She was not impressed. Bloody Mary's while tasty were watered down a bit. The place is extremely noisy, but hip and service was good. We will likely not return.

I was really hungry before coming here so that could be the reason for the 5 stars. Haha jk. No really the good here is great!! I asked the waiter for ranch and this green thing came to the table. I was kind of unsure what it was because the ranch was green! It turns out it's avocado/cilantro ranch. Good stuff you have to try when you're here. The meat was cooked perfectly and I absolutely love the fried mac and cheese. Next time I'm getting that for myself. Hhaha.

Only went there once, and was alittle worried cause I wanted some ribs, but not average goopy ribs, I wanted original delisious smoked yummy ribs. I FOUND THEM. my husband and I orderd some craft coctails from Josh, the super friendly and cute bartender, which were served fast and ready to chug, we ordered some cute apps for starters....some little beef donut thingies....they were incredible. A few more drinks, then on to lunch. My hubby ordered a full slab of baby backs, which were out of this world terrific, and I had the tri tip sandwich served huge on delicious toasted baquette type of a roll, with fried mac and cheese thingie bites, along with mouth watering baked beans. Holy crap, what fun we had. We will be back again very soon, you have customers for life!!!! Love, your friends from The SFV. Xoxoxo

A BBQ place needs a Star, and that should always be the meat. The Staff is very nice and attentive, the side was excellent and the 25 taps were great. Then came the Pulled Pork sandwhich. The Bun was nice, the sauce was okay, and the Star the Pulled pork was dry and had no flavor. Remember it all about the meat.

Our first time to Boneyard Bistro was a lot of fun! We went for a family birthday celebration and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the experience. We were seated immediately for our reservation, enjoyed pre-dinner drinks and much laughter. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers something for everyone with a friendly bar atmosphere, bistro food and upscale bbq. Personally I feel all bbq is a bit overpriced and so it was here but it was tender, juicy, smoky bbq! The brisket was delicious, the ribs (baby backs and St.Louis style) were to die for and the collard greens were fresh and amazing in both taste and texture! Birthday brownie sundae was a delicious end to a very nice evening.

I was looking for a place to eat - that we hadn't been to before so I consulted TripAdvisor once again and found the Boneyard Bistro. What a great decision. It was a Sunday and they were having a pig roast. Started with figs stuffed with cheese and lightly fried. Delicious. I then had the pulled pork sandwich and my companion had the special chicken wings. The food was outstanding. The service was great. Also tried their pina colada which had all natural ingredients and was super fresh. I'd definitely go back.

We arrived at the restaurant a little while after they had opened. While there were only a few tables filled, the drink service seemed to take forever. The same was true of our having to wait to order. Extremely slow wait staff. We had heard about Boneyard Bistro’s fantastic beef ribs, and that was the reason why we selected this restaurant in the first place. Although the beef ribs seemed to be overpriced, we were eagerly looking forward to them. Were we disappointed. The ribs we were served were dried out, extremely salty, and with hard as nails, and almost devoid of meat. There was more bone than meat. One of our party remarked that people who had arrived well after us were being served quickly, and that their orders of beef ribs appeared to be much bigger portions, succulent, with lots of tender and juicy meat. We can not recommend this place, thus the 1 star rating.

Our third time here. Consistently excellent. Beers selection is great with a lot of local and varied options. They have the traditional BBQ you would expect and it is spot on, but the real surprise is the unexpected items on the menu. Choices like BBQ quesadilla or the pork medallions in a cherry reduction sauce with blue cheese mashed potatoes. Wow. Looking forward to my next trip!

Last night I had the devine Deviled Eggs to start! I followed it up with a delicious 2 meat combo. Pork ribs, beef ribs, cole slaw and colored greens! Completely satisfied and left full! Two messy Thumbs up!!!

Great upscale BBQ

Had a wonderful dinner at Boneyard Bistro last night (as we always do). We ordered their tomato stack salad with burratta, their bacon sticks and their fried dates stuffed with chevre. All were terrific. We also ordered one of their combo entrees, serving between 4-8 people. There were 4 of us and we didn't make a dent. It was all excellent (although the sausage was our least favorite...not that it was bad) and their sides were scrumptious - fried mac and cheese, french fries, baked beans, collard greens and coleslaw. Needless to say, we have a ton of leftovers! Got to also give props to a barbeque place that serves Johnny Blue!!! On the other hand, they got rid of my most favorite cocktail there - the Rosemary Ghost. Note to bar manager/GM...for the love of a regular/local patron, PLEASE bring it back! All in all, this place is always a winner if you're looking for a more sophisticated barbeque experience in LA/the Valley.

Visited Boneyard Bistro on 09/17/16 with a coworker. We were arrived when they opened and the hostess was kind and seated us immediately. Our server was Danny and he was nice and allowed us time to peruse the menu. I ordered plantains, baby back ribs, and beef brisket with collard greens and fried mac and cheese and iced tea. My coworker ordered soy ginger Korean chicken wings beef ribs with the 1/4 chicken collard greens and baked beans. My food was delicious, except the fried mac and cheese bites. Didn't like them at all, but the plantains were delicious and tender and the lime cilantro dip was a nice bonus. My collards were not over cooked and they had meat in them like my momma makes. My ribs were tender and flavorful as well as the brisket. I also like that the iced tea tasted fresh brewed and not from a fountain. My coworker also enjoyed her food. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be visiting them again in the future. They also have an extensive drink menu and also a dessert menu from which we did not order. The place isn't cheap, but also not too expensive. I would say it's about right for the amount and taste of the food.

After a long drive on the 405, we wanted to try something different. Wanted a beer and good late lunch. First time here, liked the Yelp reviews so called for a reservation. We loved our meal, loved Drew our server, had 45 (I think) beers on draft and great tropical tea for those not looking for alcohol. We tried (4) sandwiches with a choice of a side. The brisket were the best both guys had ever had! I had pulled chicken and loved it... not too saucy, not dry and a scoop of coleslaw for extra oomph. My cousin had the tri-tip sandwich and thought it was too chewy... we got a different choice within 5 minutes. We would have ordered dessert but we were stuffed. All of us said we will drive out of our way again for more Boneyard meals! It was not a typical BBQ joint... its more.

One of the best spots I've ever ate. Amazing bbq! Constantly friendly, excellent food that melts in your mouth and strong drinks. They have indoor & outdoor seating as well as a bar. The decor is modern and has cool pictures of skulls painted on the walls. The food comes quick and they have the largest list of ales and beers I've seen in the valley. Great location . Maybe it's the strong Russian Mules that have me buzzed, but every time I eat here I say "this is the best...... I've ever had".

Met some friends for an early dinner and drinks! Casual, lively atmosphere with very unique and upscale BBQ menu. Fantastic and different drink menu as well. The service was friendly and helpful. Loved the pulled-pork dumplings and stuffed dates! Absolutely delicious!

We were in LA to see a comedy our daughter is in at the Whitefire theatre. The theatre advertises valet parking at the Boneyard Bistro. "Enjoy dining & valet parking at Boneyard Bistro". The ribs were good, the service was fantastic, the staff was attentive and friendly.

Wonderful lavender gin cocktail . The Coconut shrimp taco were extra special. And tasty with the cilantro and kafir lime. Would have these again . Ribs tasty but not special . Service very good . No room for pudding .

Ate here twice in the last two weeks (have visited a few times before) and always great. Beer options are good, appetizers (try the sprouts or the cauliflower) hearty and big plates of BBQ. I usually go ribs and on my first visit had the three rib special although the beef rib I wouldn't get again. Second visit went for the 1/2 baby back and the brisket which were both superb as was the coleslaw side. It does what it says on the tin. Beer, BBQ food, no frills pub type settings. Good value for what you get.

Been here before and it was always good, I wouldn't say great but good/solid. I am not a craft beer guy so that doesn't help. (when did Microbrew turn into 'Craft'?) Friday night with some friends. 4top Ordered drinks...fine Ordered apps. 1x cevice 2x fried dates. Fried dates were good Strike 1. Got a plate of heirloom tomatoes instead of cevice. (We'll forgive) The cevice once it was brought out was sweet and unappetizing (Foul) Since we were 4 we decided on: "The Evanator(2 to 4 People) Rack Each of the Ribs, Pulled Pork, Tri Tip, Brisket, 1/2Chicken, Lg. Mac, Cole Slaw, & Beans $85" The sides were good. The meat was COLD!!!! (Strike 2) Asked waitress to heat it up (my friend who made the reservations was mortified) She brought it back LUKE WARM AND BURNT ON THE OUTSIDE. (Strike 3) I was angry, I have worked in the restaurant business in the past and this is completely unacceptable I rudely said "This is crap" (my bad, foul on me) and said I would like them to bring us a 'NEW' one. Guess what - now our food was brought out again....the same food....burnt to a crisp on the outside LUKE WARM!!! (STRIKE 4?) What a joke. Since we were here with friends we rarely see, we decided to grin and bear it but I assure you if this was just the Mrs and I we would have walked out. We all picked at it....when the waitress came by she asked if we would like it to go....the ongoing joke at this point was "yes please...we can then take it home and heat it in the microwave" So.....check comes out. No offer of dessert or drinks because of the trouble - AND-........the heirloom tomatoes that we never ordered and were replaced were on the tab!!!!!!!!! What a @#$%&!!!!! joke of a place this is. Bill was $200 (we drank and had apps) Sooo dissaponted and feel ripped off Thanks for listening!!! xxoo

Excellent food and great selection of beer flights, scotch flights or bourbon flights. Extensive collection of all of the above. Meats were well smoked and very succulent, NOT dried out. Service was excellent. Should definitely make reservations as the place fills up quickly. Mid price but great value for your dollar. Any afficianado of beers and spirits will defintely enjoy this top. Plan to spend a little time to enjoy your meal, the atmosphere and beverages.

Boneyard Bistro is one of the best meals out there. We had yet another perfect meal from there last night. Every part of the Barbeque menu is perfect -- from brisket to ribs to chicken. The sides are divine (fried mac and cheese -- hello? worth every sit up the day after!!) They have a wonderful bar menu with great cocktails (they make an excellent Moscow Mule). The chili donuts are one of the most sinfully delicous things I have ever eaten. They have the greatest menu on Monday night - -they do fried chicken Mondays -- Insane. Even my 3 year old (my picky eater) begs me to go to Boneyard Bistro! If you are interested in a burger -- the OMG is beyond incredible. Their more gourmet fare is equally fabulous. We had a party catered from Boneyard at the holidays -- I thought our guests were going to hug us to death in gratitude for the amazing food. We couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of the food, the price - and the ability after the party to eat Boneyard leftovers for days!!!

If you're going to rate a BBQ place, you start with the ribs. I had a two rib combo; beef and pork with the pork being baby backs (not sweet St. Louis style). I would rate both as good, not great. The chili filled doughnuts as an appetizer was disappointing. A beignet type of dough, nicely fried and supposed to be stuffed with chili. The dough was nice but the chili was AWOL for the most part. The chicken wings ... I expected better. The pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches were flavorful and large (larger than need be) and the fries that came with them were decent enough. The mahi mahi fish tacos were probably the best dish in the BBQ restaurant, a bit of a surprise. The pulled pork dumplings as an appetizer was a nice change of pace from the usual BBQ place and they were a hit. Side dishes of fried mac and cheese (sounded much better than it tasted .. it was dried out and unappealing) and collard greens (slightly bitter and nicely seasoned) were also hit and miss. So, not a bad meal, not a great meal. Some will walk away happy, some not really pleased. With drinks (two adults and two non-drinkers), $150 for 4. You could do better for the $.

If you need a bbq ,Boneyard will meet your needs. One side is bar with mostly elevated seating and tvs on with your sporting event. and the other side is the dining room. Have special events last Wed. of month from Hawaii night to crab boil. Huge whiskey and beer menu other specialty drinks, wine and more. Casual dining

No better place to grab a beer in the SO/SC area. Bartenders are knowledgable and helpful. Beer selection for any taste and they rotate often enough that there is always something to try. That said, the food is what keeps you coming back. The owner/chef is always able to create an eclectic mix of items that go way beyond BBQ. I am a regular and have not had BBQ in any of my last 5 visits. There is always something new and unique to try. Friendly staff and food comes out amazingly quickly. Good for kids with an adult taste but not for younger children as not much is kid friendly.

This place is a real find if you like elegant BBQ. I know that sounds strange, but this restaurant is a big cut above your local BBQ joint. Still has the wooden tables, but nice cutlery, a full bar with Johnny Walker Black very reasonably priced ($9), and the food is tantalizing. One side of the menu is regular BBQ fare which my friends raved about. The baby back ribs and the sliders were fabulous. Then there was the other side of the menu with bbq chicken spring rolls, scallops wrapped in prosciutto, hickory smoked grilled salmon with capers and yogurt sauce on a risotto cake, grilled smoked trout, etc etc. And if you wanted, you could have any sides from the front of the menu. I had the coleslaw to go along with my salmon! It was luscious. They also have 4 interesting salads to choose from and the appetizers are a true fine dining experience. The service was just great. There were 5 of us and the waiter had to juggle 5 credit cards all wanting different amounts on them. He didn't have to write anything down. Impressive. And he was charming and treated us like royalty. Our every need was filled before we had to ask. I do not live on this side of the hill, but I would make a special trip for this deliciousness again. Do not be put off by the lack of curb appeal - probably the reason I have never been there before. From the outside the place looks like a dive, but do not be fooled. The food, ambience and service are all top notch. And wait until you see the owners art on the walls. It is called Boneyard for a reason. :-)) Enjoy!!

This is our go to spot. We've never had a bad meal, the drinks are great and the beer selection never disappoints.

Longtime regular finally reviewing - love this place. If you want big, bold flavors and great BBQ, you will love it. Sometimes there are specials that knock your socks off. Amazing fried chicken on Mondays and the best wings in town every day. Awesome selection of beers on tap, outstanding whiskey selection, and the best old-fashioned I've ever had. Don't miss the fried Mac and cheese, and be sure ask for crystal on the side!

Good food, beer, and atmosphere Went there with my friend and had a very nice time, food was amazing

Dropped by randomly while driving around la. Found the food to be unique and tasty. The deviled eggs were awesome.

Went to visit the folks at Vespa of Sherman Oaks for dinner, so upon his recommendation, we went to Boneyard Bistro. Great service, nice atmosphere and the food was delicious. For the appetizers, we all shared the Kobe Beef Chili Filled Donuts (cheddar cheese, mustard, onions and pickles) and the Spicy Ahi Tuna Tacos (mango serrano salsa & spicy aioli). For dinner, I had the 16oz. Traditional Oak Grilled Ribeye (with onion rings, grilled asparagus, house made Worchestshire Sauce & sauteed baby bella mushrooms), David ordered the Slow Hickory Smoked Pork Ribs (with baked beans and fries), Lynda had the Hickory Smoked Chicken (with fried mac n’ cheese) while LJ selected the Sage Butter Sautéed Shrimp (with roasted butternut squash & apple farro risotto, toasted pepitas, Grana Padano & wilted kale salad).

This ribs were delicious and very lean. Didn't even use the sauce. This is a very casual restaurant.

I have some friends who live nearby, so I end up here quite a bit. Their beer line-up is constantly rotating and they run the spectrum. Lagers to IPAs to wilds to stouts to ciders. You'll find something you'll like and they're always good to ask for suggestions. The barbecue is solid. The brisket is my go to.

Can I write beef ribs 50 times? The cornbread is amazing the pulled pork dumplings!!!! I love the beef ribs with the dry rub and the local beer flight. My wife likes the baby backs with the wet. Haven't had a bad meal yet.

Best bbq and bar menu in the Valley...the 3-way meat platter with pulled chicken, pulled pork and sausage is nothing short of excellent. An occasional add-in of brisket or tri-tip isn't a bad choice at all. Have eaten here plenty of times and always look forward to returning. A fun cocktail list, and a great beer selection to boot!!

If you're into ribs and deef fried macaroni, you may not live long but you will like this place. They also have a very impressive selection of beer. It's not cheap but it's very good.

We went for the crab legs, shrimp, lobster, sausage and corn night. The setting is casual. The service was great. The owner Aaron Robins, stopped by to say hello. It was our first visit to this fun restaurat.

This place is just average. Good location, parking not easy but there is valet. I ate here once before and complained about the wait and I hardly ever complain. That time I called the manager over and complained. He wasn't a bit helpful. I thought then I might never come back, but I did. The barbeque is just average. The baked beans were just barely warm. The ribs were nothing to brag about. The service was fine but the place was not busy. Enough said.

Went to Boneyard Bistro on a Saturday afternoon, when it was not too busy. The staff was extremely accommodating, and answered all our questions w/ enthusiasm and made some really good recommendations. Everything we had was excellent, the pork and beef ribs, brisket,, pulled pork, and BBQ chicken were all superb. Would have been nice to have a piece of sausage or two on our platter, but we had plenty to eat and the atmosphere was great. The draft and bottled beer selection is also very varied. Do give these guys a visit if you are in the Sherman Oaks area. You will not be disappointed.

Dinner and a movie started out with this highly recommended bbq spot. Cool ambiance, very friendly waitstaff, drool worthy food and ample drink menu to satisfy all. What we drank: Several Brouwerij Van Honsebrouck, St. Louis Framboise, Belgium drafts servings - like a raspberry fruit beer - (dear lord - so damn good) a delicious spicey blood mary and a 101 Cider House, I.P.C., We were started with some fresh bread and mini cornbread muffins - very tasty. What we consumed: Boneyard’s Kobe Beef Chili Cheese Donuts - 3 tasty meat filled donuts. Brisket meal - lean which came with choice of 2 side - i opted for friend mac n cheese and an amazing dill cole slaw which rocked my world. ( i do love coleslaw more than most people) Plus a side of their bbq sauce. 6 large slices of the most amazing brisket I've tasted since my visit to Texas many years back. I definitely could not eat it all so my boyfriend reluctantly (Ha) finished it off. He ate the 3 way combo of ribs, chicken and tri tip plus 2 sides - fried mac n cheese and that dill slaw. Alot of food for your bbq desires to be met. My bf ended with the banana pudding brulee - which looked really good with that carmelized sugar on top. I would suggest reservations for evening visits as it filled up as we were leaving. This place is what I would consider upscale bbq in quality and flavor, but the prices were not obnoxious in any way for LA. We will definitely go back to fulfill our bbq desires for ourselves and out of towners.

This is the ultimate BBQ, where you get what you desire. Whether you want Dry rub or wet with sauce, Carolina style or whatever, they serve it up. 4 of us all ordered combos to try different ribs and meats. I had Brisket to die for with pork ribs. I ordered rare and got it the way it was ordered. I'm going back for more brisket soon. The sides were great. Beans had pieces of meat in it. Cole Slaw was the best. The Tri tip ordered was so good, difficult to decide what to have next time. The mac n cheese side was too good to describe. Beef ribs tasted great. The chicken was a little dry, but tasty. Extensive beer list and great drinks. I had a fruity beer, raspberry. Very unusual and I will order that again too. This place is first class for BBQ and definately a winner.

3 people, so we ordered the Evanator, so we all could try most everything BBQ. We got everything dry so we could truly taste the meat, then add sauce if needed. Baby back ribs - very mild flavor, no fat at all, did not 'fall off the bone', needed sauce. St. Louis ribs - very lean, very smokey, we all ate without sauce, they were great! Beef ribs - almost like soft jerky, very chewy, very 'beefy' flavor, dramatic taste difference from other items. Brisket - very good texture, not smokey enough, needed sauce. Tri-tip - the disappointment, very nothing flavor, too chewy. Pulled pork - the surprise, very tender, moist, flavorful, no sauce needed. Chicken - tastes like chicken, typical, nothing special. Fried Mac n Cheese - looked like thick mini-french toast wedges, good but over-cooked. Baked beans - big hunks of meat, nice flavor, good side dish. Cole slaw - minced to smallish pieces, on the vinegary side. Sauce - had a maple-syrupy taste mixed into otherwise nothing-special base. Very good service, all the food came at once, soda and tea were quickly refilled as soon as half empty, extra cloth napkins came with the food, no rush for us to leave even though place was busy. While $100 for the Evanator seems steep on paper, reality is we took home as much as we ate, and it was actually reasonable !

Looking for comfort food around LA this is it. Love the beef ribs - especially wet (with BBQ Sauce). Collard greens are very nice, fried Mac and cheese is nice finger food, and desserts are perfect. I’m sure the pork ribs are great too. Nice wine specials and tried some really nice Zinfandel from e tens I’ve Zinfandel wine list. Service was very good and friendly place.
Good burgers
Came with family members and had a fun and delicious meal. Their sweet potato fries were great as was their burgers.
