A real find!

Bongiorno's is an excellent restaurant! Delicious food at a reasonable price! Service was wonderful. I will definitely revisit.

Amazing Pizza

By Luke c |

You cannot go wrong with this place. Amazing food and amazing service. True Italian heritage represented.

Great food, prompt service

By CoolestClaire |

Great food and prompt service. Nice chilled vibe. Ariana was the perfect hostess, with helpful tips about places to see and to eat in Chicago

good pizza

By Catherine M |

Thought we were in Italy. Good big thin crust pizza. Sat outside and service good and efficient. Teenagers were happy parents too.

All good just nothing to tempt us back

By Karen S |

Decent meal for a good price in Chicago. The pizza was good and even nicer the day after. staff quite busy so didn’t feel particular well looked after. Nothing terrible or spectacular.

Pizza

By Pete M |

Bongiorno’s serves an excellent thin crust pizza at a great value and the best Cesar Salad ever! This restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with a very accommodating staff.

Good Pizza.

By pkst2016 |

Good place to get a pizza. Convenient location. Classic Italian food. Only negative would be they don’t have pineapple for Hawaiian pizza. Go early to get a seat they get busy.

Great location, But.....

By beth ann k |

The location is excellent but our food and service were just okay. It's right on the river, and nice views, though.

Enjoying a sunny afternoon by the river

By Taylor B |

It was an unusually sunny and warm day in Chicago in late October so my wife and I decided to take a walk to our old stomping grounds. We used to work in the old Daily News/Sun-Times Building, now Trump Tower, so we stopped for lunch at Bongiorno's Italian Pizzeria in the plaza between Trump Tower and the Wrigley Building, next to the Chicago River, adjacent to the Magnificent Mile. It all brought back fond memories of a more pleasant era. Bongiorno's, located at 405 North Wabash Avenue, wasn't here then. But I wish it was. Open from 11 to 9 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 11 to 10 on Friday and Saturday and noon to 9 on Sunday, it offers a plethora of Italian stapes like thin crust pizza, Italian beef, spaghetti, mostaccioli, lasagna, tiramisu and cannoli. We passed up the thin crust pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and sausage, spaghetti with home-made bolognese sauce and the traditional Caesar salad for a lighter lunchtime repast. Like bowls of minestrone, garlic bread with cheese, an Italian beef sandwich and something new (to us), a sandwich con Salsiccia with sausage, caramelized onions, peppers and melted provolone cheese. The sandwich, very popular in Italy, is made with fresh sausage from Italy, minced or ground pork meat, pork fat and numerous spices. Whatever the recipe, it's delicious. For dessert, we shared a couple of old Italian standbys, tiramisu and home-made cannoli. Bongiorno's has found a home in busy downtown Chicago.

Wonderful little Italian restaurant

By PittFamx4 |

We happened upon Bongiorno's after a Trip Advisor search. We sat outside on a beautiful August day and had a very friendly server. (This was especially appreciated as we had a terrible serving experience the night prior.) We tried salad, pizza, tuna salad, and wine ... all were delicious! Their desserts tempted us, but we will have to try those out on a return visit.

The small Italian Deli with a Big taste

By Frank |

If you’re looking for a nice little out of the way place with good pizza and sandwiches look no further than Bongiorno’s. The pizza was traditional brick oven style with homemade sauce and fresh mozzarella, really good. The salads are excellent, the soups are made from scratch, as well as the cannoli. The entire staff was very friendly with a ethic for good customer service. Thank you for the great meal and we’ll be back.

Yummy lunch.

By ElizabethZ131 |

Yummy lunch! We each had a bowl of minestrone and shared an eggplant parm sandwich. More than enough food! And delicious. Elizabeth was our server and she was lovely. A perfect lunch for after a ride on the river for a tour. Close to where we disembarked. It was a rainy day so we sat inside. Nice patio area in a secluded spot not far off Michigan Avenue. Not an impersonal chain. Real food.

Hidden Gem

By Amanda M |

We found this restaurant walking through to Walgrens. This family run restaurant was friendly with excellent service and superb food. The antipasto platter was fresh, beautifully presented and abundant. The soup was home made and fresh, Pasta was like being in Italy. Great atmosphere, well priced and amazing food. Well worth a visit.

Great family style Italian restaurant

By Joe M |

This is a great family style Italian restaurant. The place has a great value price point on food and bottles of wine. The furniture seems to migrate based on the weather - pretty days almost everything is outside on patio. We liked their pizzas enough to visit twice during a four day trip. Serving sizes are generous and definitely shareable. The staff is attentive and friendly. You can finish off with a scoop of on of their good gelatos.

Weekend lunch

By Kathy H |

We are here from Texas for a family wedding, & chose to stay in a river front hotel - Club Quarters River Hotel. They recommended Bongiorono Cucina Italiana & Pizzeria for a close Italian restaurant. A 10 min walk across the river bridge & we found a little cafe that took us back to our last trip to Florence or somewhere nearby. The pizza is reminiscent of our trip there, the wine is definitely Italian, & the owners do their best to make sure you have a great meal. They answered questions, made recommendations & in spite of having 3 groups of 6+ managed to be sure we had what we needed. If you want a dedicated waiter, maybe this isnt the place for you, but if you want good food, the best service a small place can manage & a memorable meal... this is your place. We will come back next time we are here.

Excellent Pizza, Plus beer and wine

By Kelly D |

Excellent pizza place off the beaten path. The service was also great and they had good beer and wine selections. We were staying at the trump tower and it’s a very short walk across the street.

Good, Not Great

By Rutman |

This is a nice little spot—hard to find, but worth checking out if you’re nearby. We had the veggie pizza, Caesar salad, and eggplant parmigiana. Service was friendly and attentive, but the food didn’t quite hit the “wow” mark. Everything was good, just not rave-worthy.

Excellent pizza, great service

By Jason M |

The place is at the rear of the Trump hotel, went in to try Chicago pizza and was surprised at how good it was, nice and fresh and the service was great too. Staff friendly and very helpful, oh and terrific tasting ice cream in a variety of flavours. We went back a couple of times.

SUPER GOOD AND AUTHENTIC!

By Jp H |

Very homey and the food was absolutely amazing, real italian. They were super nice, Good spot to visit!

Best pizza in chicago downtown .. by far !!!

By PhR1 |

The best (by far) pizza in chicago downtown ! Excellent ingredients, excellent taste ( like in Napoli) and very friendly staff. Clever way to make the pizza tasty : prepared semi-cooked and cooking completed when you come to pick-up it (5 mins waiting time). That makes the entire difference ! To note that ice-cream are also delicious !!! Going there quite often (minimum once every other week) and the quality is always the same : top !

Bongiorno's for a great meal in Chicago

By Joanie B |

I heard of Bongiorno's from my brother-in-law, who, it turns out, is an old friend of the owner, Tom Bongiorno from their Brooklyn childhood days. If you're looking for great NY-style, thin crust pizza, this is your place! And there is a menu of other excellent dishes too. I had the chicken parmesan sandwich for lunch and it was the best I've had in years, along with a delicious salad with eggplant and mushrooms. Tom is the most friendly and gracious host, along with his daughter Elizabeth. You will feel welcome and well taken care of in this little restaurant, carefully tucked behind Trump Tower on Wabash St. Highly recommended!

Outstanding

By Alex Pales |

It’s really Italian pasta. The pizza is perfect an price is discente. I had a business lunch first, and as I liked a lot, I brought my family to have a dinner same day

We ended up here because it

By Jacob_Swain |

We ended up here because it was too long to get into Lou Malnati's. I wasn't sure what to expect but we were very happily surprised. The food was simply excellent. I kept smiling and telling my wife the good was so NICE. It was perfect. I had Chicken Parmigiano. My wife's pizza was also very good. Nice family establishment.

Good food good service

By Andrew M |

The thing that I liked the most, was the high level of service from the waiters to the cashier. The food was good not great but I could come back.

I'm glad I looked up pizza restaurants in Trip Advisor.

By hecubus23 |

Craving Italian, quick Trip Advisor search brought us here. Pasta and cheese pizza are awesome! Great and friendly service. Highly recommended!

Little taste of Italy

By Darren |

Found this little gem from Trip Advisor and didn’t we enjoy our meal. Lovely small family run restaurant. Food was tasty and plentiful, not too crowded but specially as it was NASCAR weekend. It’s location is pretty out of the way and takes a little skill and luck finding it for an overseas traveller. Beers were icy cold and the Italian wines were good quality

Hidden gem!

By JuanRoman |

We spent 5 nights in Chicago and definitely this place was the best restaurant we visited. Delicious food, reasonable prices and great attention are their differentiators. Lasagna, pizza and pastas are truly Italian. Very recommended.

Meh

By L H |

Not even average for a city that has lots of great pizza. Blah crust and sauce, vegetable pieces too small to really appreciate the flavors. Way overpriced for the (lack of) quality.

The crispest based pizza

By Ruth |

Wanted pizza in Chicago and came here because of Trip Advisor reviews. Think it may have been my favourite ever pizza. The crispest base, plenty of toppings and well cooked so no dripping tomato or cheese like you often get. We shared the 14” Americana. Simple basic surroundings but the food spoke for itself. We were offered a box to take away our last left over slice which I thought was a great touch. So glad we came here.

Hidden gem of restaurant

By Ken M |

Great food, great and friendly service, very nice setting outdoors next to small garden area and hardly believable dinner price for 3 ($53)

Great food and friendly personnel!

By Jina M |

We had a great meal here; the staff was really welcoming and the food was excellent. We spent both nights here and at the Holiday Inn nearby, and each time was as much fun as the last. A fantastic place with delicious meals and a welcoming atmosphere that is well worth a try!

Easy to remember but hard to find! Toilets are even harder to locate!!

By Sharon S |

Recommended by a local who I met on Amtrak. This little restaurant was hard to find in the shadows behind Trump Tower. We arrived by Uber without a reservation and waited 20-30 minutes. I ordered homemade gnocchi with vodka sauce, as recommended by the owner/waiter. My husband had eggplant parmigiana which he enjoyed. Both came with bread. Coke products with lots of wine choices. All seating was outside during our visit & oh, it was so lovely! Don’t wait until you’re desperate for a toilet! Restrooms are a bit of a walk, out the door and up an elevator.

A good find.

By AKA |

As a tourist it was a hard to find location on the first floor of a high rise building, entrance is inside of the building lobby. Place was busy enough late in the evening (8pm), food was good (cheese pizza), price seemed par for the course for the area. Satisfied with the dining experience.

Deee Lish

By CKOHSCIL |

Great spot for a casual night out in the neighborhood! Had the Deee Lish pizza and it was nothing but deeelicious. Funghi was equally delicious. Penne ala Vodka another winner. Nino is great. Always enjoy coming back.

Thin Italian pizza and gelato

By Geannemeta@tampabay.rr.com |

We were in Chicago for a wedding weekend and thought we should have Chicago pizza. Went looking on a Saturday night and places were so packed - until we found this gem! We sat outside on a beautiful night and were served by the friendliest people. Plenty of locals were eating here too. One group had their nice, big dog who was welcome to sit under their table. After wine, arugula salad and pizza we walked closeby to the river to watch the people and boats. Then we came back for gelato! It was a fabulous night!

Awesome

By Aaron R |

“Chicago Shawn” took great care of us. The pizza and gelato were amazing! Ask for their favs, wont be disappointed.

Wonderful 🤌🏻

By Adrian E |

It was wonderful! Nice place, súper good service, Food was deliciuos, and dessert…ufff. We had salad, ravioli, pizza, local brew and tiramisú. We loved everything.

Not so great

By Dapice4 |

The food was okay. The spaghetti was gummy and the Bolognese was barely there. The pomodoro was nothing like pomodoro.. The wait was about 25 minutes.. not bad.. the bread was good.. the bathrooms are located outside of the building and you have to wait til 1 person comes back with the key to go.. there were 5 women in front of me waiting.. I chose to wait and went somewhere else. Wouldn't go back. Staff was nice.

Just Like Mom Makes It

By hungryhokie |

Unassuming restaurant on the floor level of an apartment/office building. Service was a little slow and a few tables were left with dirty dishes for a while and I observed some confusion about what order belongs to who. Regardless... the food was great!! The gnocchi was pillowy soft. After spotting the eggplant rollatini on another table I had to order the appetizer for my lunch. Definitely a good size portion for lunch. It was swimming in tomato sauce and delicious hot gooey cheese and served with crusty bread. The eggplant was a perfect consistency- it is very easy too overcook the eggplant prior to baking this dish. Loved it! This is Italian food like your Mama makes it back it home!

Authentic pizza and Great atmosphere

By Terrie S |

We visited on a Sunday in the afternoon and chose the restaurant by TripAdvisor recommendations. The pizza was excellent and the cannoli was exceptional! The staff was also very helpful with our order and attentive.

Excellent Food

By Regina Florian |

100% recommended. Everything was delicious. This place is very cozy with great service. Family restaurant.

Mediocre spaghetti

By Sbutts10 |

Ordered delivery via Slice. I ordered 1/2 order of Spaghetti, the cheese bread and the meatball. I didn’t realize it was only 1 meatball but it taste good. The spaghetti however, taste like Chef Boyardee. I wouldn’t order that again unless I was desperate. The cheese bread was good. The cheese bread made the meal.

Great place near river cruise departure!

By Linda W |

We wanted a quick bite before the river cruise at 6:30. Sat outside, served quickly . Husband loved his tuna salad, and I was very happy with my caprese salad. Awesome place!

Give the help some help

By Jeff J |

We chose Bongiorno's after reading other reviews. Thought the food was good, but not great. The real issue was the service. Our waiter was working his tail off, but he was trying to take care of all 10 outdoor tables on a very busy Saturday night. Way too much for 1 person, no matter how experienced they are. Come on management, you took away from a potential good experience.

Good pizza, but poor service

By Konstantin |

Pizza is located in a good central place with inside and outside placement and could be busy on weekend - except to stay in line for 30+ minutes. Pizza is ok, but if we consider the price then we could move that a notch to good. But service is poor - only 1 waiter tries to serve 15 or so tables, so it could take a long time to get your order and then your check.

Good place for dinner

By mvandueschen |

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, good food and friendly staff. We had caprese for an appetizer, pizza for dinner, and finished with gelato and tiramisu.

Phenomenal tiramisu

By PresVu |

I had the prosciutto and mozzerella salad, the chicken parm sandwich and the tiramisu. Everything was amazing and the server was friendly. I'm actually sad I don't live here so I can't have this often.

Excellent Venue to Unwind

By Living Our Dream Destinations |

Restaurant offers comfortable ambiance, reasonable pricing for large portions of good food, and a welcomed opportunity to relax and enjoy a delicious meal in a congenial atmosphere. It’s conveniently located steps away from Michigan Avenue and the Dusable Bridge, and near many fine hotels and “things to do.” We fortuitously discovered it by chance while walking from our hotel to Michigan Avenue to browse around the area, take-in the skyline view, local street acts and corner musicians. For us, the restaurant is a perfect choice for enjoying good pizza or other food and to unwind after sightseeing. We enjoyed late lunch there a number of times during our 5-day stay in Chicago. We’d like to give a shout-out to Juan, our waiter the first time we dined there. This was also our first visit ever to Chicago. We found him very personable, accommodating, and enthusiastically proud of the city and its culture. The information he shared with us about the city was very helpful as we navigated our way throughout Chicago during our stay.

Cheap and tasty

By Andréa D |

The food is awesome and with good price. Strongly recommend. I recommend Gnocchi bolognese. Pleasant environment. We spent $28 for two.

Love the food.

By Lenfant222 |

Quality place. Great food and service. Everything as it should be. Loved it. Italian food is what everyone needs. Enjoy!

Budget friendly restaurant

By Nicholas & Sarah |

Small little hidden restaurant. Okay food with okay service. It wouldn’t be a bad thing to go elsewhere with more of a selection, but it’s a nice affordable place off the beating track.

Fast delivery but...

By Gumpie |

the pizza was extremely average. It was pretty tasteless and had way too much cheese. Couldn’t taste the sauce or any oregano, just cheese. The crust was nice, thin and crispy. We got a delivery to our hotel room. There were no chilli flakes, oregano, Parmesan sachets and just two napkins! On the plus side, the cannolis were fabulous.

Small hard to find space, but worth it

By RusPat_704 |

We met friends for dinner here. They have great pizzas, but this time we opted for eggplant parmigiana, it was delicious with the pasta side. Service was a single server, but he was efficient.

Top Notch

By James G |

Great for a relaxed dinner with friends. Staff were wonderful and attentive. Food was authentic as you would expect

Best Pizza Ever!

By Mnmlam97 |

This is a hidden gem! Hands down the BEST pizza I’ve ever had! Will for sure eat here every time we are in Chicago!

Great service!

By L_Lott19 |

It was our first trip to Chicago and my husband wanted to have an Italian beef. We stumbled upon this little spot. Service was outstanding! Hubby enjoyed his sandwich very much! Bread was very good! Was a small interior but comfortable and you felt at home. I liked my caprese and meatball. Happy we refueled here while out exploring!

Mouthwatering

By Mork001 |

At this time of year, be patient especially for dinner as there could be a wait, we had a 30 minute wait and it was worth it. We had pizzas and the were delightful. They got us a table and looked after us. In summer there would be tables outside as well. They are very polite when some patrons are pretty rude and pushy. The offer gelato too.

Stunning

By Anadavisss |

Superb pizza! 5 stars! Nothing else to say! I came with my husband on our trip to Chicago… I found this restaurant on trip advisor!

Amazing Italian!

By Beaner |

We felt like we were in Italy with the delicious pasta, amazing burrata salad, and Italian cookies! Too bad we found it on our last night in Chicago - can't wait to come back. The staff are so friendly as well.

Amazing food and great prices

By berend |

Shared a proscuitto sandwich - it was so big. The roasted veggies are amazing! Pasta I ordered a half order. Hubby order the eggplant with spaghetti, he's a big eater! The sauce was amazing. Located between Trump Tower and Wrigley building.

Not so easy to find, but keep looking

By Pompeylad |

Nice little Italian place tucked away by the Trump Tower. Food tasty & plentiful, service friendly & efficient. We chose the Polo Parmigiana & had planned to try the Tiramisu but we’re to full to go for pudding. Maybe another time.

Best meal of our trip

By texasmom47 |

My husband found this place while we were wandering around on our first day in Chicago. Turned out to be the best meal of the trip! Our teenage son asked to go back but we ran out of time -- on the list for next trip. We all got different pizzas and all three were amazing. We were glad we had gotten large pizzas so there were leftovers to take back to our hotel fridge. Service was exceptional. Even on a busy summer weekend evening the staff were attentive and gracious. Can't wait to go back!

Awesome Service, Delicious Gelato but Mediocre Lasagna

By farawayanita |

The customer service was just awesome. The lady behind the counter was patient and very kind. Even though I had a to go order, the waiter brought me water while I ate some delicious cherry gelato. The Lasagna was just ok, not that good to me.

Small Restaurant but delicious food.

By Jimmy A |

Had a small wait for a table. Very small restaurant but worth the wait. The staff are very friendly. The food was delicious. Didn’t take a picture of the tiramisu. Had the ravioli with Bolognese sauce and the garlic cheese bread to start. Great food, good price, wonderful staff!

Excellent food and excellent service

By Gabriela N |

We'd definitely be back. The place is super well located, we went twice and both times the food was excellent. The service is also very good. Pizzas and ice cream are a must

EXCELLENT PIZZA and WONDERFUL SERVICE..!!

By AROUNDTHEWORLD! |

Very casual Italian place but authentique italien pizza and Gelato ..!! They have excellent Pinot noir from Sonoma valley in California. The service was excellent .. for single, couples or family Very raisonnable price Do not hesitate to go if you are a pizza lover ..

Great Food real Italian

By LMP |

We enjoyed pizza, pasta and dessert here! Great wine and espresso. Cozy little place but a total recommendation! My daughter said, it’s the best pasta in the world❤️

Italian Beef Sandwich….. WOW

By Sac2Travelers |

We visited Bongiorno’s on an organized food tour along with family who live in Chicago and others. We had the Italian Beef Sandwich which was outstanding! We will definitely visit this place the next time we are in Chicago and our family who live there found a new place to add to their list of delicious restaurants to visit regularly.

Great local Italian spot

By Cheryl V |

great food - authentic Italian in the middle of downtown that isn’t uptight or pretentious. Family owned and they make you feel right at home!!!! Great gelato

Bad service burned pizza

By Armen G |

Find a better place to eat. Menus printed extra small need a magnifier to read. Bathroom is outside on the second floor not very accessible to handicap

Nice surprise

By Charles_TA_1 |

I went to Bongiorno’s merely because it was close to the Trump Hotel and I did not have time to go far to look for someplace to eat. I did not know what to expect from the restaurant. I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and reasonably priced for Chicago. The service was excellent. The staff could not have been friendlier nor more accommodating.

A hidden Gem

By EricGolfer |

Great place wife had the stuffed Gnocchi and I had the Rustica pizza. The Gelato was very good and place was very busy

Overall, a very good meal

By David C |

We had the cheese break, pizza, ravioli, and spaghetti - all were very good. We are used to perhaps a bit more flavor, but the overall quality of the food and the kindness of the staff were superb.

Good value nice pizza

By gramochroi |

Great spot for moderately priced authentic Italian food. Gnocchi very tasty. Kids loved the pizzas. Surroundings very average but the food is super.

Good food in a lovely restaurant

By Duncan707 |

Small restaurant with a proper local and family run vibe Pizza was absolutely delicious - servings are large, we ended up with a few slices left over that we gave to someone in the street who was probably blown away at how delicious it was Also have the eggplant parmigiana which I enjoyed You don't need deep dish to enjoy good pizza in Chicago thats for sure

Great place off the beaten path for Italian food in Chicago!

By Debsteryx |

Our party of thee adults had a wonderful meal at Bongiorno’s the evening of November 7, 2021. We were in town to celebrate two birthdays, so glad we had dinner here! We all shared a pizza, order of garlic bread, and a fantastic lasagna. I have never tasted noodles that were as flavorful and tender as the ones used in their lasagna. Also enjoyed the Italian Gelato for the birthday dessert. I would highly recommend Bongiorno’s for your dining pleasure. I am from Wisconsin and a stop at this fine establishment is made whenever visiting the Windy City. Wonderful Italian food prepared by a very nice Italian family!!!

Was a little difficult to find but well worth the effort as this Pizza is fantastic!

By minus5torr |

This was my first time here thanks to Trip Advisor. I was welcomed as I entered the restaurant and very pleased to find this is not a stereotypical pizza chain restaurant. It has the feel of a small mom and pop family Italian restaurant. I had their pizza and it was fantastic! No more classic Chicago pizza chains for me as I’ll be back here again next time I’m in Chicago and I’ll bring friends and colleagues.

food is good....service, not so much

By Linda T |

The food was surprisingly good and reasonably priced. Service was terrible. Slow....would not get back to you with what you requested. They delivered the meal to our table and then it took another 7 minutes to get silverware to eat it with.

Friendly service and great food

By MaumelleJim |

I was advised to try the daily special. It was terrific with great ingredients - seafood. The service was just right and the cost was economical. I’ll go there when I get back in that area.

The best Italian casual …family owned

By ed t |

If I could give it more stars - I would. Best authentic Italian outside of Brooklyn. Multigenerational family owned - very casual - great prices. Excellent food and pizza. The tiramisu is OUTSTANDING. Don’t go to a tourist trap - walk over a block or so and get real food.

The cagnolli! What a treat!

By PaulaPaula |

The place is half hidden, steps from the Wrigley building. Italian-style pizza, very thin (“on the stone”). Simple and rich. They have individual portions. They bring you a liter bottle of water, so it is not necessary to order a drink. The owner is Italian and speaks Spanish. The place is small. Special mention: the cagnoli. Delicious! Portion of 4 that two people eat and have a good pleasure. Reasonable price for what Chicago is, half a block from the Magnificient Mile.

Outstanding!

By Melissa |

Outstanding! Never had a better pizza! The DEE- LISH with added Ricotta was off the charts! Come here and hang out! Very relaxed!

Excellent Hospitality

By Alan W |

A wonderful small place just off Michigan Avenue behind Trump tower. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The pizza isnt deep dish, and isnt cracker thin. It is a great authentic crust made with a nice sauce and tasty toppings. Very reasonable prices and very much worth going to!

Very disappointed from the quality

By Dyamka |

The food wad burned-out and the tast was really bad! I don't think it was fresh and you don't give a burned bread to a customer!

Perfect location before Chicago river boat tour.

By Wil B |

Perfect lunch location prior to Chicago boat tour. Our group enjoyed perfectly prepared and priced Italian lunch. We even returned another day to enjoy gelato.

Excellent and reasonably priced

By D. Brian Mann |

I saw the reviews, and since I'm not a big fan of deep dish pizza, I thought I'd try this. I was not disappointed. The crust was not quite as thin as I like in a Napolitano, but it was very good. The sauce was delicious, and there was an excellent balance of ingredients, cheese, and crust. I had the Calabrese, which had hot sausage and jalapeños, because I like spicy. But beware on this one; the jalapeños are fresh, not pickled. Still a great choice in my book if you like spicy. Also, since I was there alone, I was glad to see that you can get a 10" as well as a 14". There seems to be a little confusion about that. I meant to go back and try some pasta, but I'll have to save that for my next trip to Chicago.

Reasonable priced meal in Chicago

By tackitytacktack |

This is a small pizza restaurant with inside and outside dining. It wasn't as busy as some of the other pizza restaurants. It is within walking distance of the Magnificent mile. It is tucked away and a little hard to find. Close to the Trump building.

Bongiornos Pizza

By Too Poor 2 |

We were searching for a quick lunch (not fast food) before a 2-hr Riverwalk Tour at 400 N Michigan Ave at the Wrigley Bldg on Sunday. This "hidden gem" fit the bill! When we opened the door wonderful Italian cooked meat smells wafted out luring us in. All the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We ordered a Magerita pizza, homemade meatballs sub, and spaghetti w/ marinera sauce. All dishes were very tasty and filling! Reminded us of Italy. There's outdoor and indoor seating available. Can get crowded.

Great sandwich

By EAY |

Sandwiches were fabulous. We did the river tour and were looking for places to get Italian beef around. Definitely a must stop. The beef was flavorful and the bread wasn’t super soggy. Really enjoyed it.

Quit searching - this is the place!

By walkersandtalkers |

We had a great experience at this family run place. It was a little hard to find but we were so glad we found it. Not too expense, great Italian food, clean, great service, quiet and no crazy lines. Quit searching - this is the right place to grab a good meal.

Very Good Food close to the heart of the city

By Steffan |

We had spent the day buried in a sea of people and were hungry and just after a break from the busy bustle of everywhere else. This place really ticked the boxes. The restaurant is tucked away in a quite location next to trump tower. The service was a little slow but was good when it came. The pizzas and sides we ordered were excellent. The cost was very good for the location. Would recommend for anyone seeking good food and quick reboot from the chaos!

Lunch close to the river

By Kitn22 |

Had to search for this place looking for lunch. So glad we chose to eat here. Thin crust pizza was just excellent. Also few tables outside, but too cold when we were there. Informal and "authentic" Italian.

Convenient to river cruise

By Kathryn G |

The ticket agent at the river cruise suggested this place for lunch. It was a very good suggestion. Service was quick, but not rushed, and the sandwiches were huge. The only place it started to fall apart was that we seemed to wait a long time for the check.

Great Italian restaurant

By Gary P |

Visited twice in the last few days. Spaghetti and Pizza was excellent. Second time we had Lasagna, food and service was excellent.

Local favorite Italian food

By Laura E |

Great family restaurant. Extremely attentive family run with great food and reasonable prices for a downtown Chicago place. A little hard to find but now we know it’s there we’ll definitely return

A piece of back east

By gilbertgranny |

Being from Jersey, I really miss the true mom and pop deli’s. Bongiorno’s takes me home. Bagels are true NY/ NJ style bagels made fresh the right way. The coffee cake is to die for and they have my fave breakfast sandwich, Taylor ham, egg and cheese. If you want authentic deli, head to Bongiorno’s

Excellent Dinners and Great Prices!

By Jackie M |

We had the lasagna dinner and the chicken parmigiana dinner. Both dinners included delicious, large portions and delicious bread. Most restaurants in Chicago are pricey, but you get plenty to eat for less money at Bongiorno’s. We wish that we did not have to take a hike to another floor with a key to go to the restroom, but we had a great experience anyway.

Back Again

By AKA |

Found this place last year while on vacation, back on vacation again and decided to return. The location was hard to find previously, but they do have outside dining so it’s easier to find. Food was good, service was on point, dessert was enjoyable. IMO Pricing seems reasonable for this town.

Had to have a Chicago pizza

By Gregory C |

Well, I have heard the Chicago pizza was the best. Hmmmm. I’m a southern boy, but dang! The crust was so tough, after 2 pieces I had jaw fatigue. Meat ball appetizer was very bland and a waste of time. I noticed every table had lots of leftovers. Not a good sigh

Great pizza but NOT deep dish

By Boogiechln |

We ordered a plain pizza and a rustic pizza. The rustic one had sausage, onions and mushrooms. Both were excellent. The crust was great. I will highlight that this is not a deep dish joint since my family assumed that all Chicago pizza places had that style. That said, we definitely were not disappointed. The place is small so there may be a wait. I’ll also note that a food tour group came through when we were eating which took up about a third of the place. We watched them eat the Italian beef sandwich and decided to give it a try as well. That sandwich is top notch. Overall, a great meal at a reasonable price.

Like being in Italy

By A2555DRlindad |

We went to Chicago for a Cubs game, and my son found out that Bongiorno's had great deep dish pizza, so we checked it out. The restaurant is small, homey, and similar to those we've visited in Italy. Our table had salad, pizza, an antipasto, and, and pasta. EVERYTHING was delicious, and obviously made from scratch. We highly recommend it for delicious, authentic Italian food.

Worth the short walk for sure

By PlanoJay |

Kept it simple with a small pepperoni pizza and a beer. Dough was great (thin, not chicago deep dish), red sauce was excellent, pepperonis were plentiful and nice quality. Just the right amount of cheese to finish it off. All in a really nice pie. Worth to walk for sure.

Amazing Family owned Gem

By Disappointed customer |

This is a Wonderful family owned restaurant that has held it's own against all the large chains. The food is amazing !! We were fortunate enough to meet the owners & the chef. I had the stuffed gnocchi & my spouse had eggplant parmesan...I will be back to try pizza!!

You HAVE TO TRY the Pasta Pomodoro

By K Vowell |

This place makes you feel like family when you walk in the door. Cozy and welcoming place. The food ... AMAZING!!! We ordered pizza, lasagna, and pasta pomodoro. It was ALL hot and delicious. If we ever go back to Chicago, it'll be because we HAVE TO EAT here again!!!

Good pizza

By Sharon M |

The pizza was thin crust with variety of toppings available. We had gelato for dessert, also with a variety of choices. We had the vegetarian and one with capicolla, artichokes and olives. Both were good. We were very comfortable with 2 preschoolers.

Cute little place, good food

By wanderingsoul |

I had a bit of a tough time finding the place based on my GPS walking directions, but I'm glad I eventually made it! This is a small, classic, red checkered tablecloth type of place. It seemed like it was family run based on the interactions I observed between the staff. I had my first real Chicago Italian Beef sandwich and a beer. The sandwich was great. The beef was a bit sweeter than I expected, but the spicy giardiniera that came on the side really made it a well balanced sandwich. The roll was amazing! There were several family groups of 4-8 people when I was there, but I was also welcome and treated well as a solo diner.

Nice Little Place

By AnoriginalOne |

Went here for dinner one evening. Happened upon it while walking. Was a pleasant surprise. The service was great and so was the food. Busy atmosphere and a little loud. However, that was part of the charm. Enjoyed it.

Quaint with good food and great service!

By Joy W |

I discovered this restaurant on trip advisor and since it was within walking distance of our hotel we decided to give it a try. We had pizza and it was amazing and reasonably priced. Afterwards we tried their gelato. We were allowed to sample as many flavors as we wanted. They were all so wonderful it was hard choosing which one to eat. We ended up picking three flavors, peanut butter cup, pistachio and tiramisu. They were all delicious. The sever was wonderful and sweet and attentive. On our next trip to Chicago we will definitely go back!

Surprisingly good and conveniently located off the Magnificent Mile

By Jillian V |

Given it’s proximity to the Magnificant Mile, i was really worried this place was going to be gross mockery of Italian food but it wasn’t! Ordered the meatball sandwich and it was delicious! Fresh, crunchy Italian bread, tasty sauce and melted cheese. Large portion and extra sauce for dipping! Sitting outside on the small patio was also lovely. It’s kind of tucked away so the scenery is lush and peaceful.

Good food for a good price.

By TheTraveler3313 |

This place had good food and it was inexpensive but I couldn’t say I would eat here again when I am back in Chicago. The place was small and cramped. This is not a place I would think of when I think of eating in downtown Chicago. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat then this is a decent option, but if you want to spend a little more then there are better options in Chicago.

Hidden Italian Gem

By Tesa Kay |

We stopped in for dinner after reading others’ reviews. At 5:30 on a Wednesday it was empty. Odd, but we took a chance. SO GLAD WE DID. Staff was welcoming and the food was so delicious and insanely well priced! My boyfriend said his lasagna was the best he’s ever had. I tried a special (grilled zucchini and salmon) and the food was as good as the presentation. Next door was packed and we almost laughed thinking “y’all are missing out!!!” Don’t try to find it via GPS. Just head between Trump tower and the Wrigley Building (first floor under Athletico). Don’t miss this hidden gem!

Enjoyable Evening on the Patio

By rgerst |

Bongiorno's was enjoyable dinner experience on their patio. The tomato and mozzalla salad was very good however the roasted veggies were a bit overdone. I enjoyed a nice Chianti and the prices were reasonable..

"A good day" for great home-made Italian cuisine

By Taylor B |

This downtown Chicago address has seen several restaurants come and go over the years. But Bongiorno's Italian Deli and Pizzeria shows every indication that it is here to stay. Located at 405 North Wabash Avenue, in the River Plaza Condominium building, between Trump Tower and the Wrigley Building, overlooking the Chicago River, it offers an all-consuming menu filled with delicious Italian dishes for dine-in, take-out and delivery. In good weather, you can sit on the outdoor patio and catch a breeze off the river. Open from 10 to 10 Monday through Saturday and from noon to 9 on Sunday, Bongiorno's makes a thin crust pizza with tomato sauce, sausage and mozzarella cheese that is as good as any my wife and I have had anywhere in Chicago. We started with garlic bread with cheese, minestrone soup and a traditional Caesar salad. For the main course, my wife chose lasagna while I opted for an Italian beef sandwich. For dessert, we shared two big helpings of tiramisu. Two things to be alert for: On weekdays, diners must order at the counter. And the restaurant doesn't have a bathroom. Instead, you must ask for a key and take an elevator to the second floor. But the quality of the food, the friendly and snappy service and the affordable prices more than make up for any inconvenience.

Always Great

By TampaTornado |

Found this place last time in Chicago 18 months ago and it was so good we came back - twice - this time. Wife and I split the pizza with artichokes. This is a thin crust pizza perfectly done. We also split a salad. There was a food tour here and they were sampling Chicago Beef, so I came back for that. With cheese and hot peppers. Perfect!!! I also had the roasted beet salad which was great. A few caveats. Had to find (in plaza kind of behind/under Trump Tower). Weekends they have waitstaff, weekdays you order at counter. No bathroom in restaurant - have to get key and go up in elevator. All that said, IT IS WORTH IT. Great food at a great price!!!

Awesome Experience

By Cherie V |

My family and I were looking for Italian food that wouldn’t break the bank and we found it! All of us had something different and it was all delicious. My meatball sandwich was the best I ever had. It was difficult to find, look behind Trump building, but worth it! Great service too!

The perfect place to eat well like at home

By Gloria V |

Not to miss ! We went to dinner for my birthday and I regret nothing! Everything was perfect, real Italian cuisine, quality and homemade! The homemade ravioli are excellent and the eggplants even more so 😊 Courtesy of Nino who welcomed us like at home! The little extra, putting a bugie on my cake because it was my birthday 😊 thank you again for your kindness, if we come back from Chicago we will definitely come back!

Really good italian food!!

By id5238 |

If you want really good Italian food you have to go here. The food was amazing it taste like it was right out of Italy. We were a group of 4 and ordered pizza, chicken parm. I cant complain at all. It was a small but very cute place. They also have gelato which was amazing. My mom also had the cannolis which had nuts and she couldn't eat, but they guy was so nice to bring her another fresh done cannoli's without the nuts. If I go back to Chicago I will definitely go back. I will like to go in the summer so I can sit outside.

Definitely a must visit

By Linda M |

So delicious we ate there 3 times during the 4 day we were in town. The owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. We had pizza, calzones, and salads…all wonderful. I fell in love with their saporita salad. Highly recommend.

AMAZING SERVICE BY ELISABETH AND EXCELLENT PIZZA ❤️

By AROUNDTHEWORLD! |

Love the location near the river The service by Elisabeth was outstanding The pizza are always delicious with a thin crust Lots of flavors and fresh ingredients Very raisonnable prices for an excellent and casual food We absolutely recommend this place 🙏❤️

Lovely meal!

By Adam |

The food was lovely, proper Italian food cooked by Italian people. The staff were lovely and polite. What more could you want. This was the cheapest meal we have had in the whole time being in Chicago. When the bill came we were amazed. Little restaurant tucked in behind Trump Tower. Lovely experience from start to finish.

Great authentic Italian at a good price

By Ldmoore67 |

Cute little Italian place. Authentic. Staff were friendly and worked their tails off. It was crowded so we had to wait a bit and service was a little haphazard but the , price and atmosphere made up for it. They DO NOT serve deep dish. This is Italian style not Chicago style.

Good Food l, Good Service, Friendly Environment

I came with my family for spring break and we couldn’t find anything for dinner so we came here. GREAT service and GREAT food. I highly recommend you or your family eat here!

NOT a Chicago Deep Dish!

By RoxxinTampa |

Waited 25 minutes in line in the sun when there were multiple open tables. Waited another 20 minutes after sitting for someone to bring me water. I’d chosen this place because it was the first one to pop up when I searched best Chicago deep dish pizza. This place does NOT serve deep dish pizza. The pizza was thin, runny and soggy. No flavor. I was in town 2 days and wanted to try delicious Chicago deep dish, but this place was a let down on all counts. Not a good experience.

lunch

By Joseph P |

I was pleasantly surprised by this "out of the way gem!" The smell as you walk into the place is phenomenal. The food is as good as it smells. We had the pizza and the eggplant parmesan sandwich which was excellent. I would hope a place that is this good would have a pepper and egg sandwich during lent, I would look forward to that. But try it out you will LOVE IT !!!

Oh My!

By David R |

I like New York pizza and I knew I found the right place when the owner (I assume) was speaking Italian about the desserts to one of his guest. The deserts? Forget about it... Of course I tried the tiramisu which was great but back to the pizza. I ordered sausage, peppers and mushrooms. This is the best pizza I’ve had in Chicago. The place is very welcoming with open seating. I can’t wait for my return trips where I will try calzone and lasagna offering. With all the construction in the area the place is hard to find and I only continued to look because of the excellent reviews. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Hidden Gem.

By pcollinsh |

Hidden in the shadow of the Trump Tower, is what appears to be a mom and pop Italian restaurant with fantastic food, service and prices for Chicago. We had the lentil and sausage soup, beet and arugula salad, pizza, cannoli and gelato. All were excellent. Joaquin provided excellent service. Wine pours were generous. It's not deep dish Chicago Pizza if that's what you're looking for, but good Italian food. Yes, yes, yes.

Now That’s Pizza!

By eppikureeus |

I have no beef with the deep dish thing and there’s obviously plenty of great Chicago options for that. But, if you want an out of this world thin crust, with a crispy/chewy/flavorful crust and an unbelievably unctuous sauce, look no further. First visit tonight: Dinner for 3 on a Thurs. Large, sausage, mushroom, artichoke, pepperoni pizza. The toppings were every bit as good as the crust and sauce. Way impressed. One of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten and my fam agreed.

Nice hidden gem for lunch.

By Brett R |

Great food. I had the prosciutto sandwich and my wife enjoyed the borata salad. The rosa beer was nice. Patio was pleasant. Nice service.

Not to be missed!

By Stefania P |

Being Italian we enter skeptically but as soon as we met Nino we immediately felt at home, good food and top service! I highly recommend it.

A wonderful family owned Italian restaurant.

By Greg S |

It’s an adorable place inside, and has a lovely patio that seats about 60. The owners and other staff are friendly, and the service is excellent. The food was absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to eat here again on my next visit to Chicago!

Great pizza, great quality, great service! LOVE!

By zolachola |

My boyfriend and I visited Chicago from Northern Ontario (CAN) for the weekend because we wanted some good pizza! Now I myself am not the biggest fan of deep dish pizza (I know, I'm sorry), so prior to arriving I was looking up some places for a nice thin crust. Let me just say that I am BEYOND happy that I have found this place! When we arrived, we had trouble finding the main entrance to the building because they were doing construction. We had a gentleman who worked in the building take us in through a back hidden entrance which was very exciting. When I saw the entrance to the actual restaurant, it was very random and off putting! But once you walked inside it was so delightful. The smell of pizza was intoxicating! The woman who served us at the till was so kind and happy. We ended up ordering the lunch special which was a classic pep and cheese for $6.95 (score!), and Pizza Calabrese. It was AMAZING! So damn delicious. I think about this place so much now that I am home haha. When we were there, we must of just came in time because literally 10 minutes later the place was PACKED! So busy, so it must be a good place!! The restaurant itself was authentic feeling - checkered table cloths and Italian memorabilia all over, and of course, the smell! It was a great visit and added such a positive experience to our trip in Chicago. 10/10 reccomend for some AWESOME thin crust pizza!

Best thin crust pizza w great service

By jeff f |

The best thin crust pizza I have ever eat ! Customer service excellent ! Nice place and owner was friendly and personable and made you feel At home !!!

Recalls the Italian flavors. Great job!!! Recommended

By Sergi0_Man |

Nice waitress, excellent pizza margherita and spaghetti. Quick to serve, good offer of beers. The twist is the ice cream that is not like the Italian one but is very close. Highly recommended to everyone, especially Italians who want to detoxify from American hamburgers.

Delicious food with a great view of the city

By Katharine |

Absolutely delicious! Authentic Italian cuisine with a stunning patio view. 🍷 🍕 We ordered the Rollatini di melanzane, Margherita pizza and prosciutto e mozzarella salad Friendly staff and good service! We will be back 👍

Very good

By Gastronomo123 |

The place is good, the food is good, and well attended, it is not as cheap as it appears on TripAdvisor but the value for money is good. I would return without a doubt

Location is tucked away

By tscheblo |

We struggled finding this restaurant. Google Maps led us to a sign with 405 N Wabash displayed so we knew we were at the correct address. At the valet parking station, walk up the ramp/sidewalk. Then you will find this restaurant. We split an Italian sub and it was plenty. The bread was warm and delicious. The gelato choices were slim at lunch but we would come back another time when we visit Chicago.

Perfect Italian Food

By amir y |

We were on our way to another restaurant that was full and we didn't want to wait for hours. Google suggested Bongiorno - so lucky for us! Great place, excellent service, huge servings and great food at reasonable cost. So good!

Great pizza

Very nice little pizza place in the heart of the city. Staff is nice and pizza are very good, It was a nice moment while descovering Chicago

Cute little Italian stop

By Lindsey K |

This place is a hidden gem. It’s fantastic. We stopped before a concert and were on a tight timeframe. We were in and out and had a fabulous meal. Service was fast and friendly. Gelato was fantastic and wine was super affordable. Vodka sauce was so yummy.

Italian Beef Sandwich

By MarthaFromAlabama |

I looked online for a place in this area to grab a quick, authentic Chicago lunch and am so glad I found this restaurant. I settled on an Italian Beef Sandwich and knew I had made the right choice when a tour group stopped right in front of my patio table and the guide began describing this sandwich. The group then went inside for a sample and apparently they all liked their also! Nice location - a bit tucked off the main drag, but worth looking for!

Relaxed Italian with gelato - yes!!!

By Janis W |

Love this quaint and unpretentious Italian restaurant. We tried the rustica pizza which was very good and also the chicken Parm sandwich, which was super yummy. The gelato was really great. Also, we tried the coffee, the Dubai chocolate, and tiramisu gelato. All yum!!

Walk by- Drop in

By bullpincaddie |

After passing by this establishment, my wife and I decided to give this place a try. Glad we did! A friendly atmosphere and great pizza. We decided to go with the Silvio E Gabriele, and it was on point. I would recommend this place.

dinner with good flavor and taste on the palate

By Halley McConaughey |

Quite comfortable to have a good meal and a very familiar atmosphere with all taste. It is a good place with good food.

Great

By volunteerohio |

Fantastic pizza and friendly atmosphere. Love this place tucked away on a court yard near the river. Their thin crust pizza was a delight. Outdoor seating in good weather and cozy inside seating. Loved the turtle cookies as a final treat.

Wish I Lived Here

By Anita P |

Great food, good prices, friendly staff! Small space and a great environment. Sort of tricky to find for tourists but someone helped us out. We had chicken parmigiana and lasagna and gelato. Would go more often if I was a resident!

Exactly what we all wanted.

By Claire G |

My 5 yr old rated this 5 stars! And I rate it 5 stars too. They have a great fried chicken sandwich for my kiddo, delicious thin crust margherita pizza for me, and a yummy Italian beef sandwich for my husband. It's also great to find an $11/glass wine after $20 glasses all over the place. Right on the river, great patio, beautiful views of the beautiful Chicago architecture. We went for lunch. Highly recommend.

Great pizza from real Italian

By simoncoter |

One real Italian pizza for an Italian guy! Had been really great the pizza served by Nino, his passion on Italian style is part of its Pizza!

Perfect Mom and Pop business to support!!!

By David B |

We loved our salad and two glasses of red cab, we tried the pesto gnocchi and a pepperoni cheese pizza with basil… definitely will be back!!! Hopefully everything works out and best of luck, so glad we stopped in to try…😎😎😎😎 sauce on the pizza is amazing…

A hidden gem

By DeeBJones |

Once we found it, we were thrilled. We loved the casual, authentic Italian experience. The pizza was delicious, and just what we hoped for. It was thin and flavorful (we are not fans of deep dish pizza). We also enjoyed a Caesar salad, which wasn’t drowned in dressing. The waiter said the lasagna is even better than the pizza, so we’ll have to come back and Ryan it sometime!

The best pizza in Chicago

By KJoz |

Visited with Family on sunday 23 feb. It was quite difficult to find the place but it was really worth it. 2 Large pizza (Cheese and Pizza Silvio e Gabriele) were delicious. Actually they were the best so far i had it Chicago. We had also Antipasto Misto and home made minestrone soup, which was made from high quality ingredients. Very nice and quick service.

Sandwiches are great

By Rossco27 |

Reviews are true. We only wanted to grab some take out sandwiches. The Italian beef was outstanding and so was the eggplant parmigiana. Staff are really nice too

Good Pizza

By BerlinG-ParisF |

I was staying nearby at the Kimpton Monaco and made the short walk here past the building with the dirty word on it. This place is in the idine program, which is why I chose to get my pizza here. I didn't want Chicago style so this was a good choice. I used to live in Chicago and never cared for Chicago style pizza! I arrived and was warmly welcomed. I looked at the menu and decided on a Porcini 14 inch pizza. I had to wait as I had not preordered, but that was expected. They offered me water while I waited. I took the pizza back to my hotel room and ate it all. It was decent. I have had better, but it still filled me up that night and was above average. I would go back but would order something different. It looked like a lively place with a lot of diners and was in the lobby of a condo building. I almost missed it as I had to walk around some construction. In conclusion, glad I went there that evening!

Great food and reasonably priced!

By Renee F |

We had considered eating in at this little deli, but since it was so cold out, we had food delivered to our hotel. They were pleasant, responsive, and the food was great! We ordered Pollo alla Parmigiana and Eggplant alla Parmigiana and they were both superb. The Saporita salad was huge, but it was so delicious, we ate every bite! We would love to try eating on their patio when the weather is warmer.

Amazing pizza, excellent service

By Mark G |

Amazing pizza, excellent service and great value. Maybe difficult to find the location. Go up the stairs to the left of the Trump Tower

Hidden Gem!

By missymcquillen |

Ate dinner here with the family. It was all delicious! The Buratta Salad hit the spot and the Pesto Penne was top notch. It was located in the shadow of Trump tower but in my books by far outshines that tower. Will be back!

Hidden Gem, go there it’s so good!!

By Emily L |

This place is seriously awesome! Pizza was out of this world!! We are from Ohio and we don’t really eat Chicago style pizza...so when I found this place I was jazzed. The service was outstanding!!! I will absolutely visit his place next time I’m in Chicago. You won’t be disappointed😉

Great pizza

By NWtraveler969 |

Casual inexpensive dining, friendly neighborhood joint. The Capricciosa pizza was excellent. The arugula salad was not dressed right, too vinegary. Hard to find using G maps, look for a sign on a building with scaffolding pointing the way to 405 Wabash N, up a curving driveway. Worth finding.

Like walking into an Italian kitchen and being treated like family

By Tantra Butterfly |

I'm giving this adorable ristorante a perfect FIVE and I'll be back! Basically I found this place completely by accident right after working with a new client of mine because I literally smelled a delicious aroma wafting in the lobby of the building where this restaurant is located. It's a cute Italian family owned business right next to Trump Tower and the owner was sitting at a table when I asked her if the kitchen was still open. She welcomed me as if it were a kitchen in her own home and even though it was right before closing she never rushed me before, during or after my meal. I asked her for a recommendation on which personal pizza to try and she suggested the Tartufo which is a thin cut pizza with truffle oil, mozarella, prosciutto, mushrooms and fresh shaved parmegana cheese. The personal size is generously portioned and I even have half this delicious pizza in my refrigerator because I was unable to finish it all even though the owner insisted I can dine in and take my time. She was so friendly and patient with me and I'm a slow eater. I would love another opportunity to dine here again when I have more time and try one of their desserts too. This restaurant serves homemade, fresh Italian cuisine and it's their family recipe. You will definitely feel welcomed here and fall in love with their delicious pizzas!

Loved the experience

By Connector581592 |

So we were really in the mode for a great pizza and thought we’d go for that famous deep dish place. However, waiting 45 minutes for a table and 90 minutes for a pizza is NOT what we had in mind. So we went out on a limb and tried Bongiorno’s. It was a great choice. Traditional thin crust with toppings bursting with flavor. Very chill atmosphere. No waiting, which was wonderful. We did have a hard time finding it, but we are rookies at navigating Chicago. Do yourself a favor and try this place.

Late afternoon bite

By Jami P |

Small unassuming place. The pizza was satisfactory and came out quickly. I have nothing more to say about the pizza. Good sausage!!

Bongiorno Deli

By Raymond S |

Walking in the smell was amazing like walking into an Italian grandma’s kitchen on Sunday. Had the chicken parm sandwich and it was awesome. Not a pounded cutlet but a breaded chicken breast done right!

Had take out

By lisa c |

Pizza was great, have eaten here several times and would highly suggest trying. The inside is very small so not much space but if you time it right its not a problem . When the weather allows sitting outside is great here ,

Great food, service and prices

By endionbluffs |

My son and I stopped here for lunch while visiting to catch the Cubs and Twins series. We split the Porcini Pizza and Italian Beef. Both were excellent! The pizza was done perfectly and was so good. The sandwich was perfect with fresh toppings and a side of au jus. We ended with a scoop of pistachio gelato that made for a perfect lunch. We were both stuffed and left with 1/3 of the pizza! So good and great prices in a cool little restaurant. A must stop!
