There is a reason why it can be challenging to secure a reservation at Boulevard . . . it’s due to this establishment being phenomenal on many different levels . . . as it’s a memorable dining experience, not just another place to eat. Phenomenal Food ✅ Stellar Service ✅ Wicked/Extensive Wine List ✅ Numerous Wines by the glass & many half bottles too ✅ Stunning Stemware ✅ Beautiful Full Bar (stools & some tables) ✅ Spectacular/Whimsical Ambience throughout (designed by Pat Kuleto) ✅ Open Kitchen (see the magic happen) ✅ Chef’s Bar (barstools) ✅ White Table Cloths ✅ Delicious Desserts & Coffees ✅ Some larger tables have amazing views of the Bay Bridge ✅ Great Acoustics (you can actually have & hear a conversation!!!) ✅ Valet Parking ($18) ✅ Corkage ($40) ✅ Great Location in S.F. (across from the Ferry Building) ✅ Tonight we started with the Red Abalone (appetizer $24) along with the Dungeness Crab & Avocado Salad (appetizer $25) . . . what a way to get started . . . then the two entrées we devoured/enjoyed were the (ridiculously good) Lamb ($44) and the (crazy good) Berkshire Pork Prime Rib Chop ($44) . . . absolutely amazing is an understatement . . . as in both entrées were perfectly prepared, moist & melt in you mouth deliciousness. ❎Notes: If you’re having a difficult time securing reservations online, don’t give up . . . call them directly (wink). Parking in this immediate area is not bad, just make sure to place all valuables out of sight before you arrive. A 6% San Francisco Mandate (fee) is added to the bill. ❎Fun Fact: Boulevard (restaurant) is located within the Audiffred Building (built in 1889) San Francisco’s landmark #7 “The building that booze saved” (from fire/burning in the earthquake of 1906) . . . look it up, as it’s a quick, fun and amazing story . . . with great history.

Visited Boulevard for a wedding anniversary. I booked via open table noting that it was an anniversary. On arrival there was a lovely note congratulating us. A lovely touch, to start a great but not faultless evening.

Had lunch at Boulevard and it was the most amazing meal. Fresh Scallops and risotto, mango lemonade, sourdough to die for....my mouth is watering just remembering it! I refuse to eat dinner because it will ruin the lunch I am still savoring. Our table had a view of the Bay. Service impeccable. Truly felt like I was in SF. Great location. Wow.

Sitting barside should be easy to grab the bartender's attention on a January Monday night. I waited 10 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me. For a world class city, I found it odd that they would stop accepting dinner orders at 930PM. The bartender seemed tired and wanted to be somewhere else. Chances are great that so will I next time I return to SF.

This restaurant has always been one of my favorites. We took a chance without a reservation.Everyone is very nice Host/Hostess Servers etc. Here was the problem. I shared a lobster bisque.I had one salad, one appetizer and 1 glass of wine and the bill was 95.00! The lobster bisque was thin with NO lobster at all! It was just consomme' with a teeny thin stream of creme fraiche and a teeny speck of chives.I think they just made a stock with the shells of lobster. The appetizer was 3 small raviolis. It had a nice sauce and to accommodate my daughter (vegan) they were supposed to put chicken au jus on the side, which they did not. They put some strange chunky sunflower seed pesto with no flavor on the side. However, the morel mushrooms were nice.So we could each have two raviolis they charged me an extra 7.00 for a ravioli. So for 4 tiny appetizer raviolis the price was 24.00! The bread is the same.We did eat eat because we were starving after a long walk.I wish they would add a sourdough option. Its S.F after all! The Rose' was cold and they give you a small pour for 12.00.The salad of buffalo mozzarella was good.It lacked seasoning and was 15.00.My whole problem with the menu is that it did not match what was online both in a Google search and on their very own website. There are not many options and very limited for Vegetarians and Vegans. This long established Establishment in my opinion needs a a Re-vamp or some kind of Up-Do to be appealing to the younger hipper more socially aware generation. You have to be very wealthy to eat here and not too hungry! I am neither of those!

From the moment you enter the room and walk across the mosaic tile floor, you’re struck by the joyous noise and smell and energy of the place. Long and narrow, with beautiful stained glass over the bar and a long exposed kitchen area, it is a busy and bustling restaurant. The service is quick, attentive, unrushed and confident in the knowledge of the enjoyment to come. The food is flavorful, imaginative and beautifully presented. A long and broad wine list provides variety to complement the main courses. Try the beet salad or tuna tartare or swordfish or huckleberry tart. All in all, a glorious experience

Good food, good service but unbearable noise!!! Impossible to talk with my family. I just wanted to get out!

The art nouveau style of the restaurant is gorgeous, but the food is even more beautifully prepared, and DELICIOUS! They serve a 3 course prix fixe style menu. The bar selection is extensive.

I took my fiancé here for his Birthday. The food was incredibly delicious, the atmosphere was romantic, and the service was excellent! It was all just so PERFECT & DELICIOUS! I definitely recommend and we WILL be back again soon!

No surprise why this has been awarded a Michelin star for so many years in a row. Boulevard is located at 1 Mission St, only a couple of blocks from the Embarcadero. We had a few drinks at the bar to wait for our guests. The bar area isn’t too big and I didn’t find the bartenders to be terribly attentive - but they did have an excellent selection of bourbon. Once we were seated, I saw why people leave about Boulevard: I started with the sea scallops appetizer and had the lamp chop special with seasonal morels and mashed potatoes. The lamb was delicious but the morels and mashed potatoes with lima beans were out of this world. The restaurant is quite large and well decorated although the bathroom is a bit of a hike to the back of the restaurant and downstairs; the service at the table was superb. A dinner for 4 with drinks but no dessert came to $550...not cheap but certainly comparable for other restaurants in this class. I would return.

We had dinner here with several business associates. I cannot say enough good things about the evening. The service was excellent. The food was exquisite from appetizer to entree to dessert. The restaurant itself was beautiful. Highest marks all around! I would return here in a heartbeat!

Iconic SF restaurant that didn’t disappoint. Incredible service, warm and beautiful interior. Food was impeccably plated and divine. Every course better than the first. Amazing!

I have been to Boulevard many times and yet again the restaurant has surpassed my expectations. The Hamachi Crudo was delicious. The halibut was outstanding. The wine selection is fabulous and service exceptional. I recommend you try this restaurant.

We live on the East Coast and, with our adult children living in the Bay Area, have been visiting San Francisco for many years. We have dined at many of San Francisco’s top restaurants but had not dined at Boulevard until this past Monday night, when we went there to celebrate a significant anniversary. Beautiful interior and great vibe. Service was excellent and the entire staff was very warm and welcoming. Our meal (starters - ahi tuna tartar and heirloom tomato and burrata salad: main courses - pork chop and angus filet mignon; and dessert - ice cream sundae) was spectacular. Boulevard is now our favorite San Francisco restaurant, and this past Monday’s visit will not be our last.

This is one of those restaurants that you never forget about your experience there. We came across it by accident not knowing anything about it as it was close to our hotel. What a delightful discovery. It's a combination of the Embarcadero location, ambiance, Belle Epoque decor with lots of shiny brass, excellent service and of course the cuisine. Everything we had was amazing. Waiter recommended great wines. And our desserts were beautiful as it is tasty. A Magical experience. We felt comfortably transported to another moment in time happily.

One of our favorite SF restaurants going back decades. Still doing consistently excellent food using great ingredients. Still the same elegant room, professional service and well thought out, fairly priced wine list.

We booked Boulevard for our last night of our holiday, earliest table we could get was 8.45pm, quite late for us. We arrived early and the place was very busy, but were seated promptly, our waitress Francesca talked us through the menu,I ordered clam pasta and my wife the tomato salad, well my pasta was exceptional, my wife also enjoyed her starter dish. Main for me was the buffalo milk ravioli, my wife the steak. Our dessert was earned Apple pie and key lime cheesecake, neither arrived as you would visualise them!! I can honestly say the whole evening was fantastic. For some perhaps a little pricey, but if you like chicken nuggets and chips then this is not for you, but if you like and appreciate good quality food, service and ambience then this the place to come

Boulevard Restaurant is located on Mission Street just off the Embarcadero. A landmark restaurant....an absolutely excellent restaurant in every respect. Tables are situated along the windows of the restaurant with the kitchen area strategically located mid-way into the restaurant. Watching the staff work their magic is a perfectly choreographed event. A team member runs the show and coordinates activities in the salad/starter section to the grill and dessert areas. The food is terrific...the filet mignon is among the best you'll every have...that is not to say that all the entries are excellent. An extensive wine list, full bar and a wonderful staff making the dining experience at Boulevard outstanding. My wife and I have dined there on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed. Very consistent in quality of food and professionalism of the staff. A 'Must Go-To in SF.

Boulevard is truly a San Francisco landmark with delicious food. The menu consistently evolves to integrate the freshest ingredients. This award winning restaurant is first class in every way - excellent food, comfortable dining, and good service. For example, the kitchen happily and exquisitely adapted my dinner to omit milk and cream from my selected dishes. I ate halibut which was perfectly prepared and delicious. I brought 2 colleagues here and they were both extremely pleased with their selections as well. One ordered a lamb chop and the other one Sea Bass. The only downside from our meal on this day was that we were seated next to an extremely loud and obnoxious table. I can't fault restaurant for this but this restaurant can get loud depending on the crowd. If noise is a concern, it may be worthing asking for quiet table when you make a reservation. Boulevard is definitely a restaurant that has stood the test of time. If you are looking for a restaurant that everyone will enjoy - this is the place to go. The menus is diverse and accommodates most tastes. Also, be sure to view the plaque that appears along back of restaurant explaining history of Boulevard's building. It describes the unique story of how the Audiffred Building was saved during the 1906 earthquake by the creative thinking of the bartender of the drinking establishment then occupying the building at that time.

Super food, service & ambience as always BUT this is now a 3 course menu for $98 per person which reduces flexibility - we struggle to eat the quantity of food. To start we enjoyed tuna carpaccio / lobster & prawn ravioli; and then lamb / pork chop. To finish strawberry choux bun. Very lovely service, we had a beautiful booth table (thank you Boulevard) and service is spot on. Would recommend.

The last time I had dinner here was New Year's Eve 2007 and really liked the food and service. Made reservation for 7:45 pm on a Monday evening. Our server Sheena answered our questions and offered suggestions. We ordered a bottle of Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir, 2014, that was excellent. I had the Swordfish and my two companions ordered the Pork Chop and Lamb entrees. We shared a Burrata. Desserts consisted of an Apple Tart, Creme Brûlée, and Pumpkin Pie Semifreddo. We liked everything except the Pumpkin Pie dessert.

First time here since Covid. They now reserve the main dining area for a fixed price menu. 3 courses for $125. You can still get any ala carte items at the bar or the other tables. The 3 courses is worth it as its most of the ala carte items. The pork chop remains outstanding. Even the bread service here is excellent. Service top notch. Top 10 in the city for sure.

This was the most humiliating and worst experience I've ever had at any fine dining restaurants. My husband and I first discovered Boulevard 20 years ago when we first moved to the city. Through the years, we've visited the restaurant once in a while and even gave gift certificates to our family members for this restaurant. This year our daughter turned 10 and we decided to take her here for a nice dinner. For my husband and I having dinner at a fine dining restaurant is a common occurrence, La Folie being our favorite. However, this time my husband suggested Boulevard. The experience was completely ruined with the waitress from the get go. She sounded judgmental and was surprised our daughter wanted only main course sole. When my turn came, I said I would start with the ravioli, which is on the starters side. She looked at me and asked if I wanted this as a second course, which came off as she thinks we were not able to afford it. I asked her what made her think that I wanted it as a second course when I specifically said that I was going to start with the ravioli, the waitress said she just assumed. Anyway, the manager also was just standing there and all he said at the end that he was sorry but did not really felt like he meant it. Boulevard staff, thank you for ruining my daughter's birthday dinner.

The wine list is fabulous. The waiter was great. The menu descriptions mouth waters and the pork chop had to be sent back. Been there twice - this is the first time I experienced a snafu.

I am originally from Europe and a few days ago I was looking for a good restaurant to celebrate my birthday party. So I called the restaurant to ask some questions. It was an international call and it felt like I was constantly being cut off. My gut tells me, that I’m not a person who picked up an English language, so my stomach was gripped in horror to repeat some questions, but the reservationist was really nice and her patience was worth any cost and sacrifice. Thanks a lot for such an awesome attitude!

Boulevard has been a top tier SF restaurant for many years. Our recent visit proves that they haven't lost their touch! On the Embarcadero, this lovely, unique restaurant is excellent for groups, business, couples, or any (special !!) occasion. Seating is comfy, & service GREAT (Thank you "Hunter" for your superb suggestions!!). Our favorites included: Midnight Manhattan - MUST TRY rye whiskey cocktail for whiskey lovers!! Seared scallops appetizer - mouth watering delicious!! Pan-searedHalibut - a California classic fish! Pork chop - brined, grilled , SUCCULENT! A MUST TRY entree at Boulevard Ice cream coffee tiramisu - SCRUMPTIOUS!! Creme brûlée - very special at Boulevard! Dinner's in the range of $100-150 (Total cost) per person ... and well worth it! If you've never been, you owe yourself at visit to Boulevard!!

One of the great restaurants in a city of great places to eat. Had lunch and dinner here during the week and both were enjoyable. Service is top-notch and the food is very, very good.

Have had several lunches there, all good. To celebrate my 85th birthday, dinner for four. Appetizers: all had the Maryland Blue Crab, consensus: "decent"; Entrees two Berkshire pork chops, their signature dish, virtually tasteless and boring, barely eaten, one upcharged filet of beef, similar to a Denny's level, one scallops, delicious; Desserts, three canoli , either old or previously frozen, not good at all and should have listened to our server, one chocolate cake, delicious. The noise/decibel level in the fully open room was deafening, we struggled to hear each other (to be fair a large table of men consuming copious quantities of alcohol was across from us). All in all, after expending $1,000 (wine included), dinner was a disaster and eminently forgettable. Service was great!

Boulevard checked all the boxes. The ambiance is stunning! Just beautiful inside in a very classy old school San Francisco vibe. Service was friendly and offered good feedback when asked about particular dishes. Boulevard offers a 3 course dinner option. Al la carte available at the bar only. There are about 6-8 option per course. We started with a Guinea Hen ravioli with truffles, absolutely stunning! We also had the black ink pasta with abalone, again absolutely delicious. For mains we ordered a pearl hen with roasted pear and a Berkshire pork chop. Both delicious and highly recommend. For the last course we ordered a cheese plate and a molten chocolate cake. Only disappointment of the evening was the cheese course…2 selections with neither all that appealing. Corkage $50. Definitely will be returning!

Wonderful atmosphere, fantastic food, reasonable prices. It was a great evening of our anniversary. Super recommended.

We had a group of ten people and had reserved the back room. Our dinner was quite good. The one complaint we had was that the service was slow. We thought they may have kept forgetting us because we were in the back room. We were not in a hurry so it didn't ruin our plans, but for a meal that expensive, I expect to have a little better sense of where the server is. For example our water glasses would be empty and then we'd finally have to ask for more water and then wait 10-15 minutes to get it. Those details should not be missed by a restaurant of their stature.

A little taste of Paris near the Ferry Terminal in San Francisco. Superb food and service, with the ambiance of a French bistro. A bit pricey, but what decent restaurant in San Francisco isn't? Particularly enjoyed the quality and preparation of the various dishes and the attentive service.

The art deco room is very attractive and the low ceiling and choice of furniture add to the warmth. Open kitchen-sit at the bar if you're on you're own. Excellent mixed drinks to start, fine wine list, interesting and tasty lamb for entree. Desert, the creme brulee, was disappointing. Service was fine at the beginning, but became much less attentive as the meal went on. Server was seen deeply engaged in long conversations with other customers.

We had a great time at our party. They did a phenomenal job making sure everything was just right. Thank you, Don and Yvonne Varney

It's unfortunate that my main course (pork chop) was as tough as shoe leather, dry as a bone and the side of mashed potatoes were stone cold. The Maryland crab salad was excellent. As was the rest of the meal. Service was generally attentive staff, although when served the main course they did not check back in a timely manner. They did comp our drinks. And offered to replace the main course but by then my companion had finished there course and our time was limited so I declined.

Just a super great restaurant. Food and Service superior. Every time that I have eaten here I have had an excellent meal

We went to this restaurant with clients who had recommended it. The menu was actually set menu of 3 courses. Waiter loved the sound of his own voice. Other waiters saying ‘pardon my reach’ as they put things on the table was ridiculous. Food was cold. Pork was dry and inedible. The whole place is over rated and whilst the ambience is lovely they need a huge reassessment of their offering. Far better restaurants to go to than this.

I was staying across the road at the Hotel Vitale for business and, a solo traveller, popped into here for dinner without a reservation. I sat at the counter and had the most fantastic meal. I loved everything about this place. A great, buzzy atmosphere. Superb food and very good wines. I defy anyone to find a better pork chop than the one this place does. My waitress was charm personified. The place was packed and service isn't fast, but the pace is fine and the servers seem to manage to stay on top of things. Watching the chefs at work - particularly the guy plating up - was great fun. I would definitely come back here, it was great.

Excellent food and best service we have ever experienced. Wonderful family fine dining experience. We highly recommend!

There are a plethora of wonderful restaurants in San Francisco. This is no longer one! Not surprised they were dropped for the "top 100." My family gathered to celebrate my 85th birthday. The evening started with appetizers that felt underwhelming, and while we didn’t want to let that affect our mood, the entrées followed suit. Two of us had the pork chops, which were noticeably dry, and the other dishes simply lacked the attention to detail and flavor we had come to associate with Boulevard.your kitchen. Several weeks after this $1,000 disaster we wrote to the owners with a rather friendly and civil critique. Their reply was snarky and totally insensitive. Again there are so many excellent alternatives, this restaurant is surviving on their former reputation and milking it to death.

Truly a fantastic restaurant. The decor is amazing, the personnel friendly and accommodating, and the food is beyond belief!! I couldn't find one thing to fault this restaurant in any way. It is a MUST when in San Francisco, and it has become our favorite in the city, which is saying a lot because there are several excellent restaurants there.

A great dinner from start to finish. Excellent waiter took great care of us. Had a great wine list. Appetizers, entree, and desert were all outstanding. Put this one on your list when in San Francisco!

I had dinner at Boulevard with my family to celebrate a birthday during a trip to SF. I had to settle on a 9pm seating time because I only booked a couple days prior, but I don't regret at all. The meal was delicious. We treated ourselves to the special appetizer of the evening: white truffle risotto. It was marvelous. We really enjoyed our entrées too. One of two medium-rare filet mignons came out overcooked. This was promptly handled once we pointed it out to our waiter. This did not cast any shadow on the overall experience. My swordfish was cooked to perfection. My wife enjoyed her lamb very much. The decor of the restaurant is warm and welcoming. Even though the restaurant was full, we were still able to comfortably converse at the table. I would definitely return.

Boulevard Restaurant in San Francisco has a great reputation. Friends told us to book a reservation for dinner at this restaurant a month before we traveled to San Francisco. We were delighted to have dinner at the Boulevard Restaurant. They seated us at a cozy table for two. Beautiful restaurant with lots of history. Our waitress was amazing. She was excellent, great customer service and a good sense of humour. She brought us freshly baked sourdough bread to our table. So delicious! For the main course I ordered the Pacific Rex Sole with Dungeness Crab, Pam Roasted Lobster Mushroom & Cauliflower, Barigoule, Fondant Little Red Potatoes, New Zealand Soinach & French Butter. The entree was unbelievably delicious. The sole was cooked perfectly. Congratulations to the chef! My husband for the main course ordered Berkshire Pork Prime Rib Chop with Wood Oven Roasted Sage & Black Pepper. Wild Rice, Sweet Corn & Rye Fritters. To top off the dish it had Roasted Bing Cherries with Milanese Rhubarb Aperativo, Pancetta, Arrowhead Cabbage & Roasted Pork Jus. My husband thought it was the best pork rib chop he’d ever eaten. Congratulations to the chef! We split an Apricot Tart for dessert. It was also very good. Terrific restaurant to dine in San Francisco!

ask so many years this restaurant just doesn't disappoint! everything is so good and the menu changes often i like coming here with friends or a group the wine list is outstanding and the wine steward is extremely knowledgeable sometimes the food is just slightly not hot enough or just not as exciting as some of the other places in sf i would actually give this a 4.75 and not a 4 if I could btw ask for the bread right away as they like to bring it when you order great san francisco bread

The place to go in San Francisco! What a great place. A perfect restaurant—great food, great service—ask for Tim, the world’s best waiter—professional, knowledgeable, smart. I can’t wait to return! Save room for dessert!

Met old friends in town at the start of a Ca trip. Great cocktail selection, very much enjoyed the gin and ginger cocktail. 3 of us had the salmon with sweetcorn which was delightful. One had the lamb which was cooked perfectly. The carrot ice box cake was sublime. The service was excellent. We had an early table on Saturday and expected there would be a second seating. Perhaps we we lucky, but we had no pressure to finish, so was ideal for a catch up with friends from out of town.

Was eager to try this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews. Arrived to a bustling restaurant but was still seated quickly. My husband and I Usually split a salad as an appetizer as they generally too large for one person when also having dinner. The split salad here was quite skimpy but not a deal breaker as a I believed my main course would be hearty based on the description. My main course was a potato gnocchi with pumpkin bolognese. When it was delivered to the table, one of my table companions asked if I had gotten another appetizer. NOT! Maybe there were 3 pieces of gnocchi in the dish and it was an extremely small portion. My 3 dining companions offered me parts of their meals, which I declined. Their meals, while not very large, were adequate dinner portions and they enjoyed them. I have never complained about portion size but I felt it was important to comment on based on how extremely small this dinner was. Disappointing.

The worst experience ever. Do not go here. We were on vacation in San Fran and went here as it had good reviews. The food was truly awful, they severed the sea bass raw, it had water running though it when cut with a knife and was not cooked. Neither of us touched it after one small bite as if was raw. The waitress could see we didn’t touch it but didn’t ask us once how our food was or why we hadn’t eaten it. When we complained, we were told the food is served rare. Absolute joke, rest of food was mediocre, it’s really not good food. The manager was very rude and refused to give us a refund. I’m going to raise the issue with the San Fran Food Agency.

Excellent restaurant, with a Parisian atmosphere. Punctual and very prepared service, with attention to detail. Refined and truly tasty food, in which raw materials reign supreme. Excellent wines. Advised!!!

There is a reason why it can be difficult to secure reservations at Boulevard Restaurant . . . it’s because it’s absolutely phenomenal on many different levels. Phenomenal Food ✅ Stellar Service ✅ Wicked Wine List ✅ Numerous Wines by the Glass & Half Bottles too ✅ Stunning Stemware ✅ Full Bar ✅ Beautiful, Magical & Whimsical Ambience (designed by Pat Kuleto) ✅ Chef’s Bar Seating (stools) ✅ White Table Cloths ✅ Great Acoustics (you can actually hold & hear a conversation!!!) ✅ Valet Parking ($18) ✅ Great Location in S.F. ✅ Pictured below is the Spanish Octopus & Crisp Calamari ($22) = Memorable • Burkeshire Pork Prime Rib Chop ($41) = Crazy Good • Black Wild Mushroom Risotto with Burrata & Burgundy Truffles ($28) = Ridiculously Outrageous Flavor & Consistency. NOTE: It clearly states on their website “Can’t find a table online? Call us directly.” So don’t give up, once you see that your date/time of choice is not available online !!! FUN FACT: Boulevard Restaurant is located within the Audiffred Building (built in 1889) . . . San Francisco’s Landmark #7 “The building that booze saved” look it up, as it’s an amazing story . . . with great history.

This restaurant is simply the Best. Some may think it overrated but the food is superb as well as the service. The atmosphere is elegant and frankly for big city prices it is not all that expensive. I say it’s a must when visiting San Francisco.

Last night of my birthday weekend trip. Beautiful old San Fran architecture and ambience. Fantastic wine list. Signature cocktails were also very well appointed. We both ordered the filet and it did not disappoint. Perfectly prepared. Dessert was outstanding. Service fantastic. Really a very nice experience overall!

Just walking into this beautiful space makes me smile. The bar is always friendly and inviting, with excellent libations. Seated, the service is warm and welcoming. The menu name wish I had another stomach. Never had a bad dish in decades. This place is one of the best in the City. Enjoy!

I have to say, this was one of the best restaurants I have ever dined at. The food was REALLY good, and the service was over the top; thank you Madeleine for making our experience an awesome one. Don’t even bother trying to come here without a reservation. We saw a few get turned away even at 8:30pm. From my understanding, the main dining room only offers the 3-course experience, and if you want to do a la carte, you have to do that at the bar area. My recommendation is to do the 3-course meal bc you’re going to end up ordering a starter, entrée and dessert anyway. I have to say for a 3-course option, there’s plenty of options (like 5-6 in each category). Usually when I do these coursed out meals, they only offer 2-3 different items per category. Corkage is $50 which is high but expected for such a nice establishment; you will want to bring a really good bottle of wine anyway bc it pairs nicely with the good quality, high-end food offered. The ambiance is cool; you can easily go for a family night, a girl’s night, a couple’s night, whatever night. We took an uber so we didn’t have to park, but I know that area has a few garages that would be useful.

On September 22, 2022 I invited my friend for her Birthday to Boulevard in San Francisco. We are from Texas and we had never been, we arrived at our reservation at 8:30 and seated by - very sweet hostess. We sat and they gave my friend a birthday card and we ordered a bottle of wine while we looked at dinner menu. Turns out our waiter, Dino, told us that we had to order the pre set menu in the dining room, which we were never aware of that this was mandatory. We thought we would order a la carte, but little did we know we had to order one of the prefixed menu items each. We asked if we would just share one prefixed or a la carte and he said he would ask the manager. Jacob the GM came to our table and notified us that we had to order the prefixed menu each or we would be relocated not in the dining room area basically to the bar. We already had our bottle of wine, complimentary starter. We were mortified that we would be relocated because he didn’t make an exception. He said I have a great table for you in the corner, why would we move when there were several open tables in dining area. I politely asked Jacob, If we could just stay and he rudely said no. Jacob insisted on moving us to the very dark back section of the lounge bar area. The point of us visiting boulevard was for the ambiance and food, but Jacob made it the worse experience because he told us we had to move in front of the other customers seated next to us, we saw him whisper to his employees while they stared at us while we finished our bottle of wine, so we immediately asked for the tab and he insisted we move but we wanted to leave because he embarrassed us and was so rude beyond anything I have experienced in a restaurant. Slammed the tab on the table and we took our time finishing our bottle of wine. On our way out we thanked the nice hostess and Jacob rushed up to us to ask what was happening because we were thanking her and I accidentally bumped into him and Jacob shouted to me DON’T TOUCH ME! The GM Jacob is not representing this restaurant in a positive manner. He should have had good judgement and let us stay wheee we were seated, we were willing to spend a lot , had ordered wine, it was my birthday , and there were so many vacant open tables. He was very unprofessional and rude, made us feel so much n comfortable and unwelcome. I asked our waiter Dino the name for Jacob’s supervisor and he was scared and did not disclose. The worst experience in San Francisco!

This amazing restaurant has its own woodfire oven in a gorgeous bygone era west coast charm setting. Ask for a sweet facing their Gold Gate bridge for additional benefit. Food was delicious and great wine mene, prices to match.

This was an exquisite experience led by our server Timothy. This guy was a veteran, and it showed... The hostess warmly greeted us and got us seated earlier than our reservation time. We were immediately impressed by the interior design and the perfect amount of lighting that created a romantic ambiance. The room temperature was also spot on (many places miss this part). We loved the pre-fix style dining, automatically choosing an app, entree, and dessert for one price. It set the tone for the pace of the experience and added an element of simplicity that we enjoyed. Of course, my wife and I selected different items from the menu so we could share. We enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Tar tar & Seared Sea Scallops. Both appetizers were full of flavor, and the scallops were seared to a perfect medium temperature. The way the Ahi Tuna was plated allowed for different flavor profiles with each bite. The main course delivered quality and excellence. My wife selected the Halibut, and I decided on the Filet (nice little surf & turf ;-) The hef nailed the cooking of Halibut, as no one likes an overcooked filet of fish. The sauce added savory notes that paired excellently with my wife's soft red wine she chose. I enjoyed the filet (grilled perfectly medium rare) topped with various types of mushrooms. All the mushrooms were not only different flavors but also different textures. Details like this make you want to slow down and enjoy every bite with real intention. Our final course was dessert, where my wife went with the option of the cheese tray. I loved that they had that option, as my wife doesn't consume white flour or sugar except for special occasions. I settled in with the Brown Butter & Pear Tart, and it was ridiculous. The chewy texture of the tart and the creaminess of the brown butter left me feeling let down when I finished because I wanted more! Overall Timothy navigated us the entire way. I spent 15 years in the restaurant industry and am consistently disappointed when dining out. This was a home run! I've been gluten-free for 12 years, and he perfectly managed my dietary needs. It's always nice when you get to connect with people when you're traveling, so thank you, everyone, at Boulevard, for creating a meaningful memory for my wife and me. Cheers to your continued success!

This is one of the classic SF restaurants that you have to experience. The service is always excellent, the food outstanding & the decor is beautiful. Request a table near the back windows along the Embarcadero so you can people watch or see the lit up Bay Bridge.

Perfectly prepared, unique dishes. Great wine list. Service was wonderfully understated. We requested a window view on our reservation which was accommodated with pleasure from the lovely hostess. Prices are steep and the quality matches.

Was in town for a conference staying at the Hotel Vitale right across the street. I had the Halibut entree. I am not a big fish eater but it was delicious and light. We also tried the peach tart. A must try if staying downtown in the San Francisco area. Enjoy!!!

Wonderful Michelin Star experience. From the wait staff to the food. Everyone loved their food from steak, Lamb, salads, seafood. Our first Michelin Star experience and loved it

This is one of the finest restaurants we have visited....and we have eaten there many times...quality is consistent...we ate at the chef's counter overlooking the action along the ovens, grills, and choppers...amazing...our hour dinner we planned was over two hours....oh, ask for Matthew!!!

Celebrated our son's 23rd birthday here and had one of several memorable times. We also love sitting at the bar when ordering a light meal and enjoy watching the chefs cook!

This restaurant is a San Francisco landmark. Old building, nice decor, good location and consistently excellent food. On our most recent visit every dish was delicious. The calamari was fresh & lightly battered. The crab, celery root salad was outstanding. But perhaps the best was the scallops with risotto. There were .pomegranate seeds in the risotto ...a delightful surprise. The petroleum sole was also very good but the little potatoes served with it were rather bland. My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for years and it has never disappointed us. I highly recommend Boulevard

It is a beautiful restaurant with a wonderful prefix menu and such friendly and professional staff. We had the Baile Black Chicken wine, which was perfect with the pork chop main course.

Great wine selection, excellent service, and a modest but high-quality cuisine with steak, lamb, and an outstanding halibut dish. There's a modest but well-stocked bar with excellent service. This restaurant is excellent overall, and the design is particularly lovely (especially the ceiling!). Minimal parking on the street.

We had a wonderful visit- the staff was amazing and the good was delicious. We ordered several appetizers and a couple of desserts to share. We all had the halibut, and it was wonderful. If you want a great meal in SF, try Boulevard.

We heard that this place was a fine dining experience for hipsters and all food lovers. It did not disappoint. Four of us had four different entrees and each of us loved our meals. The beat salad was a great starter. The halibut, lamb and other dishes were each prepared with finesse and had an excellent selection of vegetables. The restaurant was packed and buzzing. An excellent wine list, as expected.

My wife and I ate here while visiting SF for July 4th. The restaurant is well decorated and is clearly a popular location as we had to book ahead to get a table. The food was knockout. We really enjoyed our entire meals. We aren't drinkers so we cannot attest to the wine but everything about the restaurant was great.

25 years on and still going strong! Food at this Michelin 1*, San Francisco icon, operated by a James Beard award chef - Nancy Oakes is as delicious as before. The unrivalled, well seasoned, House Special Berkshire Pork Chop, with its gorgeous crust and ultra juiciness, was and is definitely the star of an attractive and varied menu. Other dishes, especially seafood and fish related, were all executed to near perfection, with welcoming taste profiles. The only downside was the professional service though attentive but felt a bit stiff and pretentious.

We visited this on our only real full night in SF and couldn’t have imaged picking a better restaurant. The service was great, the food mouthwatering and atmosphere memorable. We stared with the scallops and calamari followed by mouth-watering halibut and salmon, washed down with some delicious wine from Sonoma. Finished off with the most amazing Elton mess. A great restaurant and whilst not cheap certainly very popular and for good reason.

No complaints! What a great scene. And the food was fantastic, especially the scallops. Highly recommended.

We dined here Saturday night Oct 7.it was 1 day before my 70th birthday.nice window table. We had a great bottle of walter hansel chardonnay with our halibut dinners.the halibut was great.they had prepared a special birthday dessert. Very friendly server. This is always a great choice for dinner.

Just Another Great Meal & Wines In August, we were back in San Francisco for meetings for my wife. This has been a constant for 15 plus years, with at least once per month business trips - and sometimes more - many more. Those are winding down, as her corporate offices are moving to Chicago, so we have been doing our “swan song,” of San Francisco dining, making sure to get back to our favorites, while we still can. Boulevard, at 1 Mission St, not too far from the Ferry Plaza Building and the Bay has been one of our favorites, over the years, since we first discovered it. Well, we did not actually discover it, per se, as one of my wife’s San Francisco co-workers first recommended it, and we sort of filed the name away for later. Then, a year later, a friend, who is a Sommelier in San Francisco said, “You must visit Boulevard for their wines, but do stay for the food!” Two recs, and we booked Boulevard for the next trip. We did go for the wines, and stayed for Chef Nancy Oakes’ food. That was probably about 5 visits ago, scattered several months apart. This visit, was just under 12 months, since we had last dined there. Often, I have to meet my wife for dinner, as her meetings always seem to run over. This visit to Boulevard was an exception, and I think that it was the first time, that we walked through the door together - at least in many years. We were seated at a small table, along the windows, looking out onto Mission St, with a view of the open kitchen to my left, and to much of the main dining room. Over the years, we have ordered á la carte, but also enjoyed Chef Oakes’ Seasonal Tasting Menu, which is what we decided on this visit. While maybe not truly “farm to table,” Chef Oakes mostly does local sourcing, such as the Monterey Bay Octopus on the Tasting Menu. The wines, that were part of that initial recommendation, were still on the list. In some instances, we have turned the Sommelier loose to pair the wines, but as Boulevard has a very good half-bottle list, that was the direction I went with. As we often dine as a couple, a workable list of half-bottles will allow me to do my own pairings, without sacrificing to a B-T-G list (though Boulevard’s is a good one), or having to pair just the perfect 0.750 bottle with all dishes, and especially a tasting menu. All of the dishes were very good, plated beautifully, and in keeping with the Summer Season. Our service was perfect, and the pacing ideal - no long pauses, or rushed aspects. The wine service was excellent, and the stemware very nice. The only little complaint that I had, was that this table was small, but almost all along the exterior wall, are. I like the two “booths” across the aisle from where we sat, but then one’s back is to the open kitchen. This table would have been problematic, if we had gone with the Sommelier’s Wine Pairing, but with just 2 glasses each, we managed fine. The lighting is good, and we had the benefit of the early evening sky, through the windows. The noise level rose to about moderate, and especially when the little bar, toward the front of the restaurant, filled up - still, easy conversation was possible. There is seating at the front of the restaurant, but I find that with its proximity to the bar, it can get a bit loud, plus patrons entering the restaurant walk right beside your table. I prefer the area to the rear, closest to the kitchen, as it is usually quieter, and has far, far less foot traffic. I am not sure if we’ll make it back, but hope to, at least once more, before all of our trips point toward Chicago, instead of San Francisco - either way, I will toast Chef Oakes and Boulevard, and also our Sommelier friend, who said to go for the wines, but stay for the food. How correct she was!

My family has been coming to Boulevard since they opened, and every year it keeps getting better. The food is everything you would expect from fine dining in the City, and the staff is always on point. They have a way with lobster and meat that really sets them apart from the others.

A delicious lunch at Boulevard Restaurant in SF. Dana, our server, was pleasant and professional. Ourmunch included Ahi Tuna Tatare, Potato and Sunchoke Ravioli in Nettle Pasta, Dungeness Crab Salad and Local Petrale Sole. All items served hot and seasoned perfectly. This is a wonderful establishment that’s been here many years. Not a cheap ticket , but worth every penny. Highly recommended if you are in S F!!

Boulevard simply gets better every visit. Loved it when first opened and love it even more today. Warm, welcoming, flexible, engaged service, superb preparation and presentation--what more can you ask? Boulevard truly deserves it Michelin Star and delivers in an understated and relaxed way. The Alaskan Halibut and wild King Salmon we had were beyond compare as was the astonishingly well cooked scallops--they absolutely know how to prepare seafood here. The precise flavors and beautiful presentation are to behold.

This was our second Trip as a Couple to San Francisco, (travelling from Dublin. Ireland), and, wanting to get the most out of our visit, we were very selective in our choices of Dining Venues - two Restaurants topped our list from before, one of which was "Boulevard" (the other, by the way, was the highly-impressive "Seven Hills"). Now, being determined "Planners" we were anxious to get a Booking on one of the nights we were going to be here, but procedures as regards advance booking can be a bit of a hurdle - we're grateful that a very understanding lady called Lori at "Boulevard" helped us out here - our sincere thanks to you, Lori! Last time around, we had an extremely good experience at this Restaurant, helped hugely by an absolutely wonderful, personable Server called Ethan - knowing that he had retired, we wondered what things would be like this time around? Well, we needn't have worried : we got an absolutely wonderful guy called Hunter - not just a totally capable, attentive Server, but a truly sensitive Gentleman, who, with a little gentle encouragement, opened-up to us, in a manner we found absolutely rewarding. OK, for "Starters" we had the "Wolfe Quail" & "Maine Lobster & truffles" dishes, and for "Mains" we both went with the (highly-recommended signature Dish) "Berkshire Pork Prime Rib Chop" Plate - all were excellent! And, yes, we enjoyed both White & Red Wines - don't ask me to remember the names on this occasion! We greatly enjoyed the Food and the ambiance here, but it's only fair to say that what added most to our enjoyment was Hunter, who is a truly impressive person, who has "soldiered" here for about 20 years, but still deals so positively with Customers like us. For sure, we enjoyed our repeat "Dining Experience" at "Boulevard" (it's certainly not inexpensive), but the "Star Turn" of the night was definitely the guy who so brilliantly looked-after us : Thank-you, Hunter!

We have been going to the Boulevard for decades. It’s atmosphere is all about San Francisco. The food was Michelin quality. We sat at the bar and watched the food being prepared. Worth the price for the entertainment of watching the food being prepared. Loved it as I have for decades. I live in No. Cal. and wish I could visit THE CITY more often.

We had a great experience at Boulevard. The wine menu is terrific and wines reasonably priced. We love Grueners from Wachau Valley and they had a huge selection. Our server Constantine was very helpful and even took the time to explain the history of the building and the decor which made the evening that much more enjoyable. I really enjoyed the crab salad and my partner had the crudo to start. Then we shared the scallops which were done perfectly, not overdone in the least. And the beef was aged and delicious. We ended the night with the special olive cake with hints of rubarb and chocolate cake which were both excellent. This is an experience not to be missed!

Made a reservation to celebrate a special occasion. I walked by this restaurant several years ago and the ambiance looked so inviting I have been asking to go here for awhile. The decor is old world style with some interesting statues (angel and others). The valet was smoking pot upon arrival. Our server was wonderful to begin the service but then she was too busy with many tables to be attentive in the later part of the experience. The food was not what I would expect at a Michelin star restaurant. I had lamb and my husband had a filet. It took a long time to be served and my dish sat on the pass for 10-15 minutes before it was served, therefore, the lamb was cold and tough. The sommelier was non-talkative which is sad since we enjoy wine and like to discuss recommended wine to pair with dinner. Our server recommended a wine instead — again not in line with a fine dining experience. We will not return.

After luckily not getting into the snotty, overcrowded restaurants at the Ferry building, we had the best meal of our trip at the Boullevard. Super service, professional restaurant (as opposed to another US sports bar). Not cheap but worth it.

I’ve had the good fortune of eating lunch (business lunch) at Boulevard 2 times during the last month. It had been along time since I had been but quickly realized why this place continues to be very hard to get into without advance reservations. The portions are little on the small side and they are not cheap but the food is outstanding. We ordered a few starters to share which included the Ahi Tartare, the Octopus and Calamari Tostada and the Ceviche appetizer. For entre items, the Dungeness Crab Salad, Sea Scallops and Wagyu Beef Burger were all outstanding. They have a great wine list and valet parking services. This place is really good and great for that special meal.

We took my mom for a belated Birthday dinner and she loved it as much as we always have. My sister is a vegetarian and she always has plenty to choose from. I've developed an allergy to walnuts and they accommodated that really well, which I truly appreciate. Cocktails were superb, my sister and I had kir royals and mom had a bloody mary. We shared the beet salad, we love it! I had the lamb and I love the veggies that come with it. Mom had the halibut which was perfectly prepared. And sis had the ravioli. Service is wonderful, thank you for a fantastic experience while we were in the city!

The Boulevard is a classic San Francisco treat. Traditional style dining, rich decor and delicious food. This is a great place for a romantic meal.

We were with our familie of four in holiday and our mum was not hungry and just wanted to have a soup. Not possible you need to eat three courses everybody no exceptions. Alternative to sit somewhere else with the whole group because one of us did not go for the full menu. Uptight ignorant don’t go.

Yes, it could be more a la mode. I like well executed tradition. Go for good food, service and comfortable dining. With a great view to boot.

I loved the brick ceiling of private room of 'the vine vault'. Everything is elegant and tasty. A romantic and elegant atmosphere and the food not only tasty but elegantly plated. Try sample dinner menu if you can't make a decision.Definitely a must go and have the experience. Thanks Boulevard:))

Meet with a customer while in San Francisco. he suggested this restaurant stating that it was one of his favorites. Now I understand why. The food was just outstanding. I started with the scallops and had the halibut as the main course. My customer had the beet salad and the pork chop. The wine list has great choices by the glass. We shared a dessert the profiteroles and it was amazing. Service was just perfect and although a little pricy it is worth it for the quality of the food. Will definitely be back on my next trip

Everything looks good, the restaurant, the food, the drinks , the service. However, for me the essential is missing. The dishes have no specific savor, no originality, nothing that makes them memorable. At $40 or $50 a plate, I was expecting something more interesting.

This place is bustling, so be sure to make a reservation. The food is fantastic and the decor stellar & original! It's an experience and walkable from the Embarkadero

We selected this restaurant because of an article in Wine Spectator lauding women chefs at fine restaurants in San Francisco. The food, the restaurant, and the service all attain the high status given by the Wine Spectator. I had a wonderful pork loin dinner. My wife has a fish which she enjoyed. The service could not have been better. The wine list was pricy but we found an excellent Loire Valley red (Cabernet Franc but not labeled as such) for $45. We would definitely return on our next visit to San Francisco.

We went on valentines night and had an amazing experience. Our waiter recommended a beautiful champagne (on our request). The food was tasty, brought out at a good pace, we were checked on a regular basis and it was American service as I would expect. Well worth a visit.

This was an exquisite meal. Everything about it was perfect. Lots of great flavors, everything cooked to perfection. A server who explained the menu and made good recommendations. Excellent wine list. A beautiful setting that made us feel special. Low noise level so we were able to have a conversation. It was a beautiful evening. Not cheap, but worth the splurge.

I loved the decor first off. The art nouveau/art deco vibe was everything. My husband and I were meeting friends there and they are both very strict vegans/gluten free/and oil free. They had called ahead and the chef created an appetizer salad, main course, and even dessert for them which was such great service. My husband ordered steak and I ordered the sturgeon. My husband swore it was the best steak he's ever had and my sturgeon was delicious. We were there for my husbands birthday and they brought out a yummy dessert without the embarrassment of a birthday song. Lovely place for dinner.

We liked the atmosphere at Boulevard, bustling, dark, and cozy. The presentation of the food was beautiful and the service was great. The crab and burratta appetizers were delicious, many great choices. My colleague ordered halibut, also very good. Desert was very good- loved the cheese options for a low sugar option. The reason I am giving a 4 star review is that the sole tasted very fishy, a bit tough, and the fried side vegetables were fair. For $35+ dish, I expected a lot more.

Boulevard always receives top reviews over the years. I’ve dined there a few in the past but this visit was less than stellar! My salad...was OK. The Halibut was very expensive and a very small portion. I expect much more from this establishment. Walking back to the hotel my wife and I reflected on what was memorable. Sadly we both could only say...their bread and the salted butter. Many other places to try on the next trip.

It was very embarrassing when we realized that we accidentally booked our reservation for the wrong evening, especially since we were taking our adult children our for their first anniversary dinner. What a delightful occurrence when the lovely host managed to seat us anyway, even though this Michelin restaurant is in high demand and almost always requires reservations to be made well in advance. Food and service was impeccable, as one might expect.

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for numerous years. It is always good but I think this time was the best. The scallops were excellent and the beef bavette melted in my mouth. Of course the lobster bisque is always good. Our server was attentive to our pace and our needs. The place was crowded but I did not find the noise level problematic. Boulevard’s has found a formula that works for consistent superiority in every way.

Had a great dinner here. They were super accommodating after a mishap caused us to be an hour late for our reservation. The food and drinks were super yummy. Super ambiance. Very generous plates and huge desserts. The carrot cake, while unconventional, was our favorite. Should have a Michelin star.

One of the best dining experiences I have had in a while. The restaurant was done up for the holidays, and the decor is truly beautiful. Service was impressive from beginning to end, and the food was nicely done! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

I have been going to boulevard for many years. It is a pleasant and lovely ambience decoration and lighting. my best experience was at the counter where all the action takes place, the aromas of food ,the meticulous preparation. sitting in the restaurant is great too.It is hard to get a reservation if you do not plan. They have an extensive wine list ,you need hours to read if you love wine like I do,but eventually you have to order the food !!,so you do not hold everyone else who is at the table with you!!! go and experience fine dining with fresh ingredients with elegance.

We made a very special dinner reservation here. The view and environment continues to be spectacular but the service and food quality have changed over the years. We arrived a tiny bit early for our reservation and were asked to wait (the restaurant had just opened) so we headed to the bar and ordered some drinks. By the time the drinks were made our table was ready. The barkeep indicated that I should closeout with him, which I did as my family walked to the table. I then carried our drinks to the table. I found this unusual for a high-end restaurant. Then, I felt rushed the entire meal. Our food came out quickly and my meal was just ok. Desserts were pretty decent but honestly I am having a hard time remembering what we ate specifically, which is telling. It wasn't memorable. (I can remember what I ate here over 10 years ago but not this meal a couple weeks ago). What I do remember is a waiter hovering and taking my husband's dish as soon as humanly possibly. The tab did not justify the meal. Pretty huge disappointment.

The food was incredible and beautifully plated - the Berkshire Pork Prime Rib Chop melts in your mouth - The Wild King Salmon was just perfect! The Vanilla 'Cream Brulee' the best I ever DEVOURED. It was plated beautifully as well.

Great attention and food. I always come when I am in San Francisco and the food and service is always excellent. If you are coming alone try the bar at the kitchen. It is fun to watch the chefs

This is a classy spot to dine and meet friends. Food and service are excellent. Warm atmosphere and always bustling business of those in the know for great food and ambiance. Solid selection of items for all diners. Highly recommend this place

Another great meal at the Boulevard! It never disappoints. The service is excellent. Great wine list! A bit loud sitting near the bar. Next time I will Request a table toward the back of the restaurant. I’d give it 5 stars if the noise level hadn’t affected our ability to have easy conversations.

Have eaten on several trips to San Francisco and have always had a great dinner Very good wine list. Great service. Nice views of the Bay Bridge. Very good food and easy to share

We enjoyed a family dinner at Boulevard. Our appetizers were great. For dinner we tried the halibut and pork. Ingredients were fresh and delicious. One of our group had the pork and also liked it . The wine list is excellent and very reasonable. We have been here many times and always has been excellent.

The atmosphere is clearly Michelin quality. Unfortunately, the food while acceptable does not merit a Michelin star. That star was appropriately withdrawn. The execution on the dishes was mixed. This was probably the result of turning many plates under time pressure. There are better options if high quality food is your priority.

Hit this place for a Friday night dinner. It was hopping! For good reason. The food is excellent - the tuna tartare is amazing; the filet is also superbly cooked (suggest medium rather than medium rare). The servíce was lovely too - knowledgeable and discreet, but attentive. I would surely go here again. You should go too.

We were really excited to come to Boulevard tonight as I have dined many times over the past decade. But tonight was a huge disappointment. We arrived a little early before our reservation and were sat promptly which was nice. After looking over the menu, my husband and I decided on two apps, two entrees and wanted to wait for dessert. The server told us we were required to pick our dessert right away and we couldn't wait. I thought that was odd. She then said it's required for the prix fixe menu. But no one informed us when we sat down that we were required to do the prix fixe menu nor did they let us know we could order a La carte if we sat at the chef's counter or at the bar/lounge area. The food was okay. Definitely not the quality I remember. The ravioli appetizer we ordered was 3 pieces and some sauce. Entrees were good but by no means mind blowing. We received our bill. $317 for two people. Apparently the prix fixe is $125 per person. My husband's whiskey was $20 something, 6% SF mandate and then tax + tip meant our bill was almost $400 for what was honestly a mediocre meal. The craziest part is, if you look at recent a la carte menus where the pricing is listed, appetizers range from $18-$28, entrees $52-$65 and desserts $15-$20. If a 3 course prix fixe is $125/person, tell me how does that add up? Even if I picked the most expensive entree at $65, you're telling me one appetizer and a dessert is $60? This place is literally operating like a scam and if you scan recent reviews, many people have said the same thing! We left dinner so disappointed. I have such fond memories of this place and we even brought our young daughter in. And now I can never recommend this place to anyone or justify coming back at the price we paid. If Boulevard is even thinking about trying to get a Michelin star status again, they are insane. There are way better restaurants in the city with better food that won't feel like a scam. Also, I called the restaurant afterwards asking them to explain why there’s such a huge difference in price if you order a la carte vs prix fixe and she rudely said, “because the dining room is a different type of service” Bougie and elitist. Please pick a better restaurant to spend your money on. There are so many better places in the city that have less expensive prix fixe options, still offer a la carte and with better food.

This was a lovely place to have dinner. It had a gorgeous backdrop right in front of the bay bridge and service was on-point.

This resturant has a really good bar very busy and good vibe. Great room with nice views. It was nice with the open kitchen. Had a nice feel to resturant. Found it odd that you share the restrooms with another resturant.

Our group of 10 enjoyed an excellent meal saturday evening in one of Boulevards private dinner rooms called the wine cave. I had not been to Boulevard before and our dinner certainly matched its great Trip Advisor reviews. Our server was very good and took great care of our group. The starters we ordered were fantastic, we had plates of calamari, scallops, burrata and beet ravioli brought to share for the table. For my main course I chose the lamb T-bone, my wife the pork chop. My lamb was very flavorful and cooked perfectly to my medium rare order, but unfortunately arrived barely warm. My wifes Berkshire Prime Rib pork chop was fantastic. Our table enjoyed some excellent bottles of Oregon Pinot to go along with our dinners. Desserts were also excellent, my wife had the Apple Turnover bread pudding and I had the Pumpkin Brulee. Absolutely delicious. Boulevard is a very special place and I highly recommend it.

I had a business dinner here and had the swordfish. Small portion but the dish was very good. The restaurant was very busy and loud. Nice atmosphere.

We come to Boulevard about once a year, often for a special occasion. This time it was a birthday. We have yet to be disappointed. I was presented with a birthday card upon being seated and the service throughout the dinner was impeccable. My wife is a vegetarian and instead of ordering the vegetarian dish on the menu, she again asked for a plate of the various vegetables on the menu. They again came through with a perfect plate. I ordered the filet and it could not have been better. After dinner, I was brought a mini cake with candle. We can't wait for our next visit.

My wife and I recently went to San Francisco to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. The Boulevard Restaurant one of our favorites, we been eating there for many years. To say the least, the quality, service and ambience has always been fantastic. We had another couple with us, my first cousins who were celebrating a 70th birthday. All of us are accustomed a very good food and service, but it turned out the Boulevard was one of their favorite restaurants as well. The appetizers through desert were all well prepared, and the service was outstanding. In fact, one of the things I find annoying about many restaurants is the fact that the busboys want to clear someone's plate before everyone is done. I consider that rude and bad manners, no plate should be cleared until everyone is finished with that course. It may make somebody who's the last to finish feel somewhat pressured to hurry up. This is the first time in years I ever had a busboy ask if everyone was finished before he would start to clear. I was very impressed. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions and dates etc., you can't go wrong.

A friend of mine who lives in San Francisco highly recommended Boulevard - and I'm glad he did. Perfect martinis to start ...... The peach salad to start is great to share - full of fresh peaches, greens and a light dressing. I enjoyed the grilled halibut and my friend found the pork chop to be very good. Often pork can be dry but not here! The place can get a bit noisy - but the food and service make up for it.

If you have ever eaten Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, you will be very surprised by the comparison. Le Boulevard offers you a starter-main course-dessert formula for 160 EUR. The starter and main course (fish) were very good, however the dessert (a cup of ice cream with fruit) was not worthy of a Michelin-starred restaurant. The service was not friendly and the entire meal was served to us within an hour. Finally, we were very disappointed by the Art-Nouveau decor which appears much more beautiful in the photos. In short, a good restaurant, but which clearly lacks sophistication for a Michelin-starred one.

We loved it! The atmosphere, the charm, the views of the bay bridge and the food and the staff were superb. You can dine at a table or choose to sit ringside at the open kitchen. We enjoyed several dishes including the tomatoes and burrata with grilled artichoke and a basil salsa verde. The salmon was cooked to perfection as was the filet.

We like coming here for special occasions and love the food and the service. They renovated during Covid and now the back dining area is a Pre Fixe menu while some of the items are also on the menu pictured here. We chose to eat just to the left of the hostess station that is not Pre Fixe. Last year, we sat next to Joe Montana & his wife in the back dining room. He wished our son a happy birthday.

I had dinner with San Francisco friends, who selected Boulevard. I’ve eaten at Boulevard on several trips to San Francisco, but probably not for at least 5 years. How wonderful that this restaurant is still an absolute delight - staff, ambience and food! My friends and I shared the Dungeness crab and roasted beet appetizers, both of which were beautifully presented and delicious. I had the black rice risotto with burrata and truffles, which was exquisite.

My husband had been to this restaurant 20 years ago and had loved it. It is in the heart of downtown San Francisco but not difficult to get there. They have valet parking which was helpful. The attire is whatever you want it to be. We saw many in jeans and casual attire but there were also many that were business casual and night out attire. Our server was quite helpful with menu suggestions and the sommelier helped pair the perfect wines. The food was fabulous. I had scallops and they were prepared perfectly. My husband had duck and said it was great. We had their christmas special dessert and didn't leave a drop. We would definitely return to this wonderful restaurant.

An old favorite, love coming here. Always a warm welcome, great seating, attentive service and delicious food and drink. Quail starter was fantastic, juicy and succulent. Tuna poke incredible and innovative. Pork with apples so flavorful, petrale soul like butter. The sommelier paired excellent wines with each course, including dessert. A perfect evening, every time. Enjoy!

I went to Boulevard restaurant today with a group of friends and it was fabulous. The food was outstanding. The service was excellent. The location is right next to the Embarcadero. The scallops came with a risotto that was the best I have ever had. The creme brule was out of thsi world!!

We were here to enjoy the award winning food, and much of it was in fact excellent. The bread pudding was supurb! Our server, Adrianna, was wonderful, but she couldn't compensate for unacceptable delays in receiving part of our orders (4 of us).

In summary, good food, very expensive some of the staff we encountered were unfriendly. Service was quick, in fact too quick as the starters were brought before we had finished our appetiser. Overall we felt a bit rushed.

Our annual trek to San Francisco for the SF Chronicle Wine Competition event started with a pre-event dinner at one of the City's finest gastronomic locales. This year our group of 5 couples picked Boulevard on Mission St.. This was from the list of SF's top 10 restaurants we had researched. Any early seating proved beneficial as the restaurant filled to near capacity by the 7:00 pm seating time. We were cheerfully greated by the maitre 'd and seated center restaurant at a long booth table. A bit crowded but at the center of attention. Our server appeared and quickly took drink orders; waters appeared as bus staff set the table. Most of us opted for wine (they have an extensive wine list), and a couple folks ordered champagne cocktails, (which I understand were delicious). Our server recommended ordering two of the evenings appetizer specials; they were the Spinach Ravioli in Truffle Sauce, Roasted Beets with Blackcurrant Roasted Pears and Humboldt Fog Goat Cheese. We also Fire Roasted Asparagus. All appetizers were served family style. Our dinner choices included: Northern Halibut (a-la plancha), Lamb T-bone (oven roasted, served off the bone), Angus Filet and Berkshire Pork Prime Rib Chop (oven roasted with pecan-ginger brulee) and the Risotto. Dessert was a little over the top but was delicious (Brule with ice-cream and cake). After 23 years (the first time we ate there) the restaurant, the service and food are excellent. Waite staff is professional, attentive and well versed in all aspects of fine dining. Our main server was exceptional and made some excellent recommendations on food, specials and beverage choices. It'll stay on the list for next year!

We've been here many times over the years and sometimes just getting a seat at the counter with a great view watching the chefs when we just walk in. We've never been disappointed and had an amazing New Years dinner and celebration there. Worth every penny for us!

great ambience and food and drink. bottle of local Cabernet was incredibly well priced... excellent value. Stayed till the last people left the restaurant. Very hospitable and welcoming. Good experience.

This restaurant has been around a long time. I used to go here for lunch but now they just serve a prix fix dinner. I had the scallops with bearnaise sauce, lamb loin and a chocolate dessert for $119. The meal was good but not very creative and I left disappointed.

We shared the Spanish Octopus, Cuttlefish & Fried Green Tomato and the Roasted Baby Beets starters. Both were outstanding. The Berkshire Pork Prime Rib Chop was also excellent. Our server was superior. Enjoyable setting, energetic but still quiet enough for conversation. Extensive wine list with many interesting selections. Recommended.

Boulevard get 5 stars across the board. The ambiance, service, and food are all first class. We discovered this great place on a visit to San Francisco 4 years ago and it's always our first choice when we return.

I really enjoyed my dinner at Boulevard. I was looking for a nice evening on my own, and I got lucky. The service was very attentive and pleasant, the atmosphere was festive, and the food was excellent. Eating alone, especially as a woman, can be awkward, and I was treated with the same respect given to any other patron at Boulevard.I had the salmon and the baked hot chocolate cake, and I was served an amuse-bouche of a tiny white bean salad with truffle dressing and a small piece of sausage. It was a very pleasant evening.

We went here for our first time on a Thursday night in December. From word of mouth we were expecting a lot and yet our expectations were exceeded. From the minute we walked in the door the entire staff worked in tandem to make us feel prioritized and spoiled. Our server, Dennis, helped us with menu recommendations and he did not steer us wrong. Every bite was delicious! We look forward to our next visit.

Although not a frequent customer I always try to take out of town guests here. The food is consistently excellent, and its just a beautiful space , right near the Bay Bridge. We just were there with cousins from France, and they were really impressed. Lots of pricey restaurants in the City, but at Boulevard you feel like its worth every penny !

I have had many enjoyable dinners at Boulevard over the years and my dinner last Friday met my very high expectations. The wine list remains superb and the sommelier’s suggestions were delightful. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. The quail appetizer was as good as ever. The seasonal shaved truffle dish was superb, as was my lamb T-bone. As a bonus, my seat allowed a good view of the LED light display on the Bay Bridge.

Recent business meeting ended at the Boulevard Restaurant. While the food was delightful, I have to admit it was not condusive to conversations. I realize this is a very common problem with popular restaurants these days... but the noise leave made it difficult to converse with my associates seated directly across from me.

Five of us on a business meal. We all had something different, even vegetarian. The food is very good and the service is good, but the wait staff was a little stuffy. Not as friendly as they could be for a place as pricey as it is.

Boulevard has been a favorite of ours for a decade . The atmosphere , service and food are impeccable. I can’t imagine a trip to SF without going to Boulevard .

Slow, inconsistent service. Ten minutes to take the beverage order, only to have it lost and not delivered for another 20. Fish entree was grossly undercooked, then turned to mush when reheated. The evening was partially salvaged by their astute sommolier.

I didn't want to eat at the hotel, so I popped into Boulevard & requested a table for one. I started with a glass of red, placed my dinner order - the prime rib porkchop. I opted for another glass of wine. I treated myself to desert. The experience was absolutely wonderful! Thank you Boulevard!

A lovely feel to this traditional restaurant with a twist. Excellent creative food and terrific service. A good choice

I feel very blessed after enjoying a fantastic meal and premium service at one of the finest restaurants San Francisco can offer. Our waiter Matthew was awesome and made some very notable recommendations. From the wine selection to the main course. (Pork chops) they were all delicious. Thank you for making it a memorable evening.

My filet mignon was about $10 more than I'd pay at other restaurants. But I don't really remember the other restaurants. Meanwhile, I'll never forget the filet mignon I had at Boulevard the other night. It's that good. Go and make a memory instead of just filling your stomach.

Nice restaurant though a little loud for fine dining. Food was really good. Portions are really big. We had the lamb and quail. Just too bad that we didn’t have a quiet table. We felt the service people were always passing by and so it felt a little hectic! Food and service was superb.

Boulevard is at the end of Mission on the embarcadero and I have eaten there often over the years. There are always new places to try but this is a standard that keeps its quality up. You do have to usually plan ahead but sometimes you can walk in sit down and have a great meal.

We visited this restaurant for a fine dining experience and were impressed with the quality of the food. The food was delicious, and the portions were quite generous. We had the lamb and quail, and both dishes were flavorful and well-prepared. I highly recommend it.

We were staying near by and booked Boulevard a week in advance. It seemed that tables were already getting hard to come by. Our reservation was fro 7:45pm and it was already heaving. It's a long narrow restaurant dominated by the long bar/grill, with dim lighting to match the bar-style decor. I was taken to our table, which was fortunately by a window. The tables are really packed in quite densely. My partner was a few minutes behind me so was left alone to peruse the menu. The wine list was quite extensive, and what stood out upon opening the spirits menu was a Charles the 13th Cognac for $600 for a double shot (~60ml). Bottles of wine went up to $3800 (that I saw). After my partner arrived it was about 10 minutes until our orders were taken, and even then we had to ask the waiter back to order a drink for her. I stuck to beer, but my partner had the Midnight Manhattan, which she adored. Our starters were the quail for me, and scallops for her. Both were very tasty dishes. The scallops were sweet and cooked to perfection, the quail was a little metallic (normal I guess) but the separate mushroom and peach/plum sauce was to die for and I mopped it up with the classic SF sour dough bread. I had the lamb for main, and it was a fairly generous serve of meat, and very well cooked medium rare. It didn't come overly salted (thankfully), and I could add a little to make it perfect for me. There wasn't too much else on the plate except for a small serve of mashed potatoes (very well done again). My partner had skipped the main to enjoy a desert which was the Eton Mess. This looked elegant with shards/sticks of firm meringue over a white chocolate shell and a moussy/biscuity base underneath. This was unfortunately just a bit too sweet to both our tastes. So the food was good, why only three stars? Value for money for us means a combination of food, service, and price. We felt that the service was bustling and professional (there were many many waiters, in an obvious hierarchy), but dismissive; barely even making eye contact as they took our order. For example, we were given the bill without asking (not even offered a coffee or after dinner chocolate -- which we thought we saw happening at other tables), and no one could be bothered to say Good Night as we left. Some of our requests were also forgotten. I'm pretty sure we were at no stage rude or complaining. The regulars were obviously warmly greeted by the staff and taken excellent care of, but a couple of tourists like us it seemed were not important to them. Then there's the price. This is Michelin priced food ($20 starters, $43 for salmon, $59? for Fillet Mignon) for not quite Michelin standard, in a crowded environment, and curt service. It's telling that the restaurant had a Michelin star from about 2007 until 2015 when they lost it. In my mind, Boulevard is no where near a Michelin level experience. Even from the food point of view there's a lack of creativity and really interesting flavors. So perhaps instead of visiting an old restaurant that's sitting on its laurels and moving as many customers through as possible, take a gamble on an up-and coming place that probably has equally good food at a lower price and more intimate service.

This place is just about perfect. The food, the ambiance, the service were just about perfect. A friend who knows the restaurant booked for us and the staff knew it was a special event and treated us to champagne. We had a special appetizer with crab, white asparagus and cauliflower, a fried soft shell, bulgar risotto and halibut. All were delicious. And the wonderful dessert of carrot cake was also special.

From the tasteful old art deco light fixtures and tile designs, to the expert waiters and deliciously prepared food, Boulevard never disappointments. A bit pricey, but worth it for a special occasion.

Great service and great food. Highly recommend eating here during your trip to San Fran. This was one of the best meals we had.

Boulevard does not know how to disappoint...it continues to have and adhere to the highest restaurant standards. The food is fresh, lovely, delicious, imaginative and we'll prepared; the staff takes excellent care of the patrons; the wine list is long and offers many possibilities; the ambiance is welcoming. It's a treat; we will come back!!

4 1/2 years after my last visit, my 3rd experience with this restaurant was top notch. Everyone remarks on the quirky attractive decor which is superior; I’d add that the comfort level is also very good. Our waiter Timothy is a consummate white tablecloth professional, and the entire service experience is great. The Starter: Heirloom Tomatoes Salad with Burrata is excellent. My entree was excellent (Lamb T-Bone with delicious Artichoke Parmesan Fritters + mushrooms, beans etc. )! They have a good selection of beers & a very good wine list. The dessert menu has a dozen soft cheese options.

Wonderfully delicious food....lovely attentive service...and a very beautiful interior. I like to sit at the counter to watch the chefs cook. Unfortunately, the counter seats are dreadfully uncomfortable. .very hard like sitting in 2nd class on a bad train.

Let’s start with the food. The swordfish was very good, the lamb was good as well. The bread and butter were delicious. The portions are small, fine for me but my boyfriend was still hungry. The hot chocolate cake was delicious!! Probably my favorite! The server we had from the beginning seemed uninterested. He put two drinks that we had not ordered on our bill and when I brought this to his attention instead of apologizing and taking them off the bill. He accused us of bringing these drinks from the bar. He eventually took off the drinks, but It was uncomfortable. I will not be returning.

The space is beautiful and elegant, the service was prompt and friendly, and the food excellent. I had steak tartare for a starter, something I'd never tried, and it was delicious. The quail main course featured a number of compelling flavors intermingled. The dessert was strawberry sundae, which was a notch below the others, because I felt that it had too many pieces of strawberry and not enough ice cream.

The restaurant we were planning on going to was closed, so we stood on the corner and searched on our phones for a restaurant close-by and found Boulevard.....and we were so glad our original restaurant was closed for Boulevard was FANTASTIC. We were lucky there was an available table, best to reserve a table ahead of time....it is popular. Martin was our server and we cannot say enough about him....so friendly, took the time to get to know us, was extremely knowledgeable on the menu...just a great person and waiter. (Boulevard...if you are listening, give Martin a raise....he is a keeper) Our meals were mouthwatering good. My wife had the Spring Asparagus, warm barrata, Fresh morels, and Pearled Barley Risotto....amazingly delicious. I had the Berkshire Pork Prime Rib Chop....so perfectly cooked and the sides were amazing....the combinations of flavours were perfectly executed. For dessert we shared a slice of the carrot cake with walnut and mango ice cream....great way to end the meal. The wine list is EXTENSIVE....you would need to be a true wine snob if you couldn't find something here to please your palate. Cocktails list is expansive...my gin and tonic perfectly mixed using a Japanese gin. You cannot go wrong eating here...truly delicious...a memorable meal.

This has always been my favorite restaurant in SF. I have been going for over 25 years-whenever I was in San Francisco. The food and service are both exceptional. Chef Nancy Oakes has been at the helm since day one. There is no one like her. An incredibly talented Chef with an exceptional team. And the new updates look great!

We held our commitment ceremony gathering at Boulevard almost 30 years ago and since have been back for special occasions. Even our youngish kids at the time got a thrill out of sitting at the kitchen bar and seeing the chefs in action. Great Service. Great Food.

I recently returned to 'Boulevard' on 2/22/2020 after having not dined there for awhile. I realize what I missed having stayed away too long. I will be a regular again from now on. I brought a party of 7, myself included, to celebrate my daughters' 30th. Birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and the food and wine, as usual, was superb. The Staff at Boulevard are the best of the best. We could not have been happier with the Star treatment we received. This Restaurant is truly Number 1 on my list of Restaurants in San Francisco. We will be back again soon.

We came here 5 years ago for an anniversary and I remember eating to pork chop and how good it was. I’ve recommended this place to many different people based that experience but I finally came back and was disappointed. The service was good but the food was only okay. First we ordered cocktails which were 20 dollars which is insane even for San Francisco and then the appetizers came. My wife got the little gem salad which was okay and I got the scallops which was also okay but one scalp wasn’t seared like the others. My pork chop came next and I was really excited since I remembered how good it was before but it came warm not hot. The gnocchis on the dish were cold. I feel like whenever something needs to be reheated it just gets worse. It changed the dish for me unfortunately and it just wasn’t as good. There is definitely a lack of attention to detail that left me wanting especially at 40 dollars an entree.
Great meal!
Visiting with family for a lunch, this was a great upscale option! They honored the request for a view of the bay bridge on the reservation I made, and everything was perfect. Food was delicious - sole, ravioli, croque madame, and pork fritters - and, although the sole came out undercooked, they promptly took care of it.
