Went with friends for dinner. The staff was very friendly. Their selection of bourbon although much wider than most places, was disappointing considering Bourbon is first in the name of the restaurant! They had my favorite bourbon (Basil Hayden) but only enough for one 2 oz serving. When I ordered it a second time I was told they were out of it. The food that we ordered was very good. We had the fried pickles and the pizza with prosciutto and arugula for appetizers. For dinner we all got grilled cheese sandwiches. They did have meals too. All in all it was a very nice evening. The only major problem is parking. There are no lots nearby so you have to find a space on the street. It took us close to 30 minutes to find a spot. Luckily we were early enough that we still made our reservation without a problem.

Maybe you like pubs, but you don't like pub grub. Maybe you indulge in the brownwater sometimes, including, but not limited to, Glenlivet. Maybe you like to listen to a playlist of good tunes while you relax, drink and dine. Maybe you like the hipster vibe sometimes, but you're not necessarily a hipster. Maybe you shoukd stop in at Bourbon & Branch.

They have a brunch menu until 3 . It has yummy breakfast foods and lunch foods like burgers , salad, wings, fish tacos ! Yummy . I got a kale salad. A little spicy , kept me drinking my yummy Wicked Weed Pernicousious Ipa , husbannd had fosh tacos , yummy a little spicy. Nice little old school philly bar with great wings and the food was delish !!! James Brown and Parliment playing while we ate ! Love !

The food was awful - soggy and tasteless. The drinks were good. Service gets a fail when the dinner is served before you’ve had a chance to finish the starters, so there isn’t room on the table for all the plates. We even had to ask for plates for the shared appetizers. Sorry, we will not be back!

Ate here on a Wednesday night, very lite crowd when we arrived. The beer selection is just OK, many locals, but not extremely well laid out or diverse. They could improve in that area. We split the Chicken & Biscuits with Sausage Gravy appetizer. The chicken was very good, as was the gravy, but it wasn't on a biscuit, it was a toasted baguette? Could have been better with a biscuit, of course, but tasty nonetheless. We split 2 entrees: Pulled PorK Sandwich and the Fish and Chips. The Pork was good, nice smoky hunks of pork, rather than over-pulled and stringy, and the sauce was good, even though I prefer the Carolina style vinegar based sauce better. The fish was good although the coating should have been crisper. There was a lot of fish, so portions were more than fair. The chips were really just seasoned fries and were very good. There were many other items on the menu I'd like to try. They could use some improvement but the potential is there.

Bourbon and branch was just a name change from Liberties. The decor is still the same... Staff, especially the bartender is pleasant. Great place for a few drinks with friends!

Bourbon & Branch has an excellent selection of whisky. If you're looking for rare, they have it. If you're looking for cheap, they have 5 city-wide specials. Drinks aside, the food was surprisingly good. My expectations were not very high, but I have to say that I was not disappointed with any of the food that came out. This is a very solid addition to the neighborhood.

Came for the vegan food- did NOT disappoint. Really beautiful old style bar inside with woo accents & tin ceiling. It really feels like a historic bar. Cozy & welcoming. All of our vegan food was amazing! Seitan wings- super crispy but tender inside. Lathered in delicious BBQ sauce served with vegan ranch! Vegan cheesesteak- the roll was fresh. Tons of seasoned seitan with vegan cheese sauce, onions & peppers. It was really delish! Ordered a side of onion rings because let’s be real- onion rings are the best part of bar food! The onion rings were delicious, crispy & so yummy! They also have a IMPRESSIVE bar selection for bourbon/whiskey lovers. Like, an entire menu devoted to it. Come for the cozy small bar vibes, good food & drinks. Enjoy the atmosphere !

It has been a journey being vegan. One that has often led to vegan restaurant or few options. It had not included awesome pizza or nachos. Especially not at a spot that did a perfect Shrimp basket for my non vegan partner. Thank you! B&B had options for everything. A white pizza that was crisp on top and bottom with a melty center. Insanely good. Nachos piled high. Thank you!! Some of my favorites veganized to perfection.

Went on an early Saturday evening and it wasn't packed at all. Loved the look of the place; had an old bar kind of feel, lots of wood and charming. Great music made for a relaxed atmosphere. Server was really nice and attentive. They had a great beer selection as well as bourbon, not super expensive either. Food was delicious. They have a menu that isn't overwhelming but offers some solid choices. As the food was walked out to other tables everything looked delicious and saw many empty plates (always a good sign). I'd def return to try some of the other things on the menu. As the evening progressed it got busier but the crowd seemed easy going. They have a music venue upstairs but we went only for dinner. This a good spot in an area with a ton of restaurants. And free parking outfront if you're lucky to get one of those spots.

Background: On the basis of a recommendation by two locals who frequent Bourbon & Branch, we gave it a try. Verdict: The Burger With Belgian Fries were wolfed down, as were the smoked Deviled Eggs The Parmesan Pimento Cheese with crackers was interesting; perhaps we were filled up from the other items as we brought them back to the B&B. If we return to this part of Philadelphia, we'd definitely consider eating here (or at Green Eggs Cafe down the street).

I read a lot of reviews about the fried chicken so I had to try it for myself. I ordered the fried chicken and beer bacon mac and cheese! Blew my mind! The chicken is nicely seasoned and crispy for sure! The mac and cheese was delicious! I also had the fried pickles which I loved! I came to see a show which was good but there was only a bar upstairs. I ate at the bar but it was hard to see the stage from the bar.

Take a step back in time in this charming place! Whiskey and bourbon choices are amazing. It has a speak easy feel of times forgotten with antique wood and tin ceilings. A cozy place that offers live music upstairs. Food choices were creative. A pleasant surprise all around.

Upstairs bar for music on a Wednesday. Talented Pleasant performers. Large selection of bourbons. Reasonably priced. Antique bar interest. Downstairs local bar with young crowd in old setting. Roast chicken with mashed potatoes delicious . Friendly service. Found parking ( free) right outside a plus.

Definitely a good place in the middle of downtown Philadelphia to grad a meal and a beer. Service was very good as well. Will make it back there next time in the area.

Had a great time at bourbon and branch. We found it randomly online by looking for somewhere to eat in the neighborhood we were in. Service was great, the atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious. I had the Bahn Mi sandwich and it was incredible. I'd highly recommend it! Others had the bang bang chicken, pulled pork and Irish nachos and all had great reviews. I'd try this place again. It is a little small and hard to get into the front door when there are people crowding the host stand. Other than that everything was great!

Went the other night for a show that my boyfriend and friends were performing at upstairs, we thought before the show we would get something to eat there since the menu looks delicious! We sat at the bar and received glares from the bartender, maybe because we were walking in and out for a bit carrying gear upstairs, but when we finally sat down she handed us the menus and just said 'are you gonna eat' and we said we yes! Then she said 'well order quickly because the kitchen is closing.' I have worked as a bartender in the city and more recently at music venues and I know that the vibes are usually really up beat, but this bartender was not - really rude and seemed unhappy that we were thinking about ordering dinner. I know that kitchens usually close earlier than the bar but we were about thirty minutes prior to the kitchen closing and she seemed super inconvenienced by us. After about thirty seconds with the menu she said 'are you going to get something' sheesh I was kind of offended by her rude service to the point that I felt bad for even sitting at the bar, like I was making her upset just by being there! I know that towards the end of a shift we all get tired but that doesn't mean you treat your customers poorly... We left and got dinner somewhere else. On that note when we came back for the show the upstairs is nice and a good place for a small low key show - bartender up there was nice and really friendly in a relaxed way.

I will have to try this place again for a more accurate assessment. Stopped by for lunch on a Thursday and ordered the grilled chicken kale Cesar salad. When I dig into it, it was suburb! Perfectly portioned and seasoned. But then a few bites into it I found a long hair in it. No big deal, gave the salad back and they made me a new one. The second salad tasted tasted like a distant version of the first. As if someone completely different and inexperienced made the second and the real chef made the first. The second salad did not have the shaved cheese, the kale was wet which really ruined the experience (but I was hungry so I ate and went), the proportions were off too, the "smoked" chicken had zero "smoke" to it. Not sure what happened, maybe the waiter made he second one?? Place had a cool old pub vibe to it. I will be back to give it another try only due to the first salad being spot on minus the hair.

Great pub across from the blind pig. outdoor seating, nice interior (old row home). I had a bad experience with a "buffalo" cheesesteak here, but other than that the food is great. The nachos are excellent. It get s 4 star because the standard tap is a block away.

My friend recently moved to Northern Liberties so we decided to give this place a try. While the drinks are good, the bartender was lacking and rude. No smiles, no pleasantries except for a group of regulars at the other end of the bar. Another woman came in and sat by us and was treated the same way. We both ordered grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon and tomatoes. When they were brought out they were totally burnt and served with fries. We didn’t complain just cut off the burnt edges. I liked that they have so many vegan entree’s but unfortunately bc we didn’t feel very welcome here we won’t be back. Too many good restaurants in Philadelphia!

We came across this as we looked for brunch places in Northern Liberties and Fishtown, and are so glad we tried it. The atmosphere is "bar-y," but charmingly so. We were warmly greeted by the host, who took great pride in sharing "the best seat in the house" (I think it really was!), and pointing out the unusual liquor/cocktail menu (in a children's book) as he handed us that and the food menus. The service was prompt and personal (although it took a while at the end of the meal to get the check). The menu was solid, with several egg dishes as well as pancakes (lemon ricotta as well as standard) and bourbon maple French toast. I fully intended to indulge in shrimp and grits, BUT the homemade corned beef hash won out--and it was delicious, meaty, not too salty, crisply fried, topped with two eggs and accompanied by home fries. Others in our party had eggs benedict, a scrambled egg skillet, and an egg burrito. The coffee was very good; our Bloody Marys nicely seasoned. We couldn't have asked for more. They have live music regularly on the second floor, and the host was particularly eager to share word of the open-mike comedy night the third Wednesday of each month, and bluegrass night (we didn't get a sense of how frequently that occurs). This seems like a great evening place as well as a brunch place, and we'll certainly try that when next we're in Philadelphia. Great place all around; we highly recommend it.

Had a pretty good brunch, the Lumberjack, and a bloody mary (spicy hot!) and some mimosas and boy were we feeling fine all afternoon! The regular menu also looks tasty and tempting, but I can vouch for the chicken sausage gravy over biscuits!

I visited this location when it was "Liberities" and I wasn't impressed. When Bourbon & Branch arrived - stopped in for Happy Hour and I liked the vibe. I cam back recently to try the food and was impressed. I had the Asian Wings, Beer mac and cheese and friends had burgers. We all were pleased with the quality of food and beer selection. After speaking with the bartender, looks like they have a comedy night and it's getting popular nice venue for local acts. Politeness/Professionalism=Great Food=Good Service=Wait time on food could improve. Drinks=Consistently Good

My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere not in center city due to it being the flower show. We decided on bourbon and branch. He ordered the biscuits and gravy and I, the chicken sandwich. They were both fabulous!! We want to come back and try new things! Nice bartender as well and good came out fast even though there was a nice crowd for brunch. We will return.

Very interesting restaurant . They are a restaurant downstairs and host live music upstairs. We were there to see the musicians that were performing . The headliner Christina Custode was from Buffalo, NY... she was amazing ! She had 2 opening acts as well. There was live music from 7:30-10:30... just be prepared to stand as there is limited seating for the live music. We also had some food from the limited upstairs menu... it was very good as well. It's a cool spot and if you enjoy live music definitely go upstairs and listen to the bands!
What can I say ...Oxtail french Fries and Bang Bang Chicken
GREAT PLACE. Food was great and the prices were too. Sat outside. Owners father is a good host. Waitress was good. Can not wait to go back.
