Good food, generous portions, excellent staff

By larrybard |

Pleasantly surprised by very generous portions of well prepared breakfast dishes. Restaurant was very busy -- full, with a few people waiting -- around noon on a Friday, but our waiting time was not long (and reasonably estimated). Every server and other employee we encountered was friendly and personable.

Mixed reviews

Took my folks here a few weeks ago. I had the sweet potato scramble, which was delicious. My mom enjoyed the eggs with meat and toast. My dad had the eggs benedict, which was hardly edible.

Expect to wait - but so worth it!

By djaungst66 |

Met a friend who was able to snag a table before the dining room got stuffed. We shared a savory (green eggs and ham) and a sweet (boutique sampler). I preferred the savory option over the sweet, as the sweet was too sweet and over garnished with whipped cream and more sweets. The eggs were yummy with a pesto twist.

A Hard No!

By Renee H |

Not even the appearance of quality control in the food they serve. Avoid this establishment. After an 80 minute wait for your meal it should be flawless or close to that, my waffle s arrived cold and rubbery. I'm still finding it incredible that they put that in front of me. By other reviews submitted this is not unusual so take heed.

Great spot!!

By Fantastic49 |

The food here is delicious and the menu is creative. I had red velvet pancakes and turkey sausage... all of it was spot on. The coffee is very tasty as well (I drink it black, but they did offer french vanilla creamer). My husband had pancakes, eggs and scrapple and he loved his food as well. The restaurant itself is extremely cute and the artwork is interesting. Love the vibe. I was surprised at the bad reviews, but they are all old and it seems that it may have been growing pains resulting from opening a new restaurant. We will go again the next time we're in Philly.

Lots of Possibilities

By bjgiff |

This is a new restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch in Chestnut Hill. We ate breakfast there and were quite impressed. Three eggs, home fries with peppers and onions, sausages and toast and coffee for under $10. The food was fresh, very well prepared and tasty. There are lots of possibilities on the menu including southern fried fish and grits, many different kinds of pancakes and waffles and frittatas. The server was responsive and friendly. My only complaint was the coffee was only mediocre. I will be back soon. Definitely give this place a try.

All Day Breakfast and Light Lunch But Terrible Experience

By joanz359 |

The restaurant is small and has been redone after the prior owner. It is clean and fresh with a small grab bar by the cashier in the back There was not wait when we came around 2:00 for lunch and there were a couple of tables. We walked in and a person in the bank signaled to us that it was okay to sit down. The menu is mainly breakfasted all day and light lunch. Fresh squeezed orange juice, A wide range of choices for breakfast A good selection of pancakes and French toast and side dishes. My friend order eggs over easy, toast and a side of sausage. I ordered an omelet with cheese sausage, onions, and tomatoes. My friend got her eggs over easy and no toast. When she asked about the toast to eat her eggs. The waitress said she would bring it The eggs were cold by the time the burned toast came. I ordered my omelet wet and said it would go back if not wet. The omelet came with a choice of sides and I selected the hash browns with onions and peppers. The omelet was, surprise, not wet and it went back The hashbrowns were plentiful but no onions and peppers and had no taste. I got a side order of sausages that I did not ask for. They need to get the kitchen in order and really get the service thing done. I know that this just opened three weeks ago but with a limited menu and a small number of tables this cannot be that difficult.

Welcoming spot w great food

Green Eggs and Ham! 5 star delicious. New spot in Mount Airy next to the branch library. Very welcoming.

Excellent!

By saragL6594AV |

This is the 3rd location for this wonderful restaurant. While I wanted to try everything on the incredible menu, since it was only my daughter and me, we were limited to 2 breakfast entrees. I had the basic eggs (3!), multi grain toast, crisp bacon and s delicious crunchy and generous portion of home fries and quinoa. My daughter had an overflowing omelet with wonderful home fries and toast. The omelet was stuffed with vegetables and cheese, and she was able to select her 3 filings. Coffee was hot and plentiful and came with a pitcher of milk. We were well positioned to see the other entrees and they were also impressive. The pancakes which passed by were fluffy and huge. Breakfast boutique is open for lunch, too, and offers burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups and a huge variety of other great options. The staff was super and I was informed that they take reservations. We were there Monday morning and it was full. Word is out!!!

Outstanding food and presentation. Excellent, friendly service.

I have been a customer of the Breakfast Boutique restaurants for several years. I've eaten there with my wife and with two men's groups of which I'm a member. One every occasion, the food was very delicious and lovingly presented. Our visit this morning was no different. This was the first time we ate at the Chestnut Hill facility and we weren't disappointed. The dining area is small (intimate), but very nice and the whole eating experience was pleasant. I'll be eating there, again, real soon.

Phenomenal

By missymcmahon The Savory Gourmet |

I absolutely love the town of Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia! With that being said, we spent a lot of time there, shopping & eating! We were in search of a place to stop for brunch the other day and stumbled upon The Breakfast Boutique! I knew just from the moment I approached the the door and one of the staff welcomed us(even with a toddler) and felt like this place was going to be a hit!! The decor is beautiful and I couldn’t help but admire the great wallpaper and lighting. I perused the menu and found many items I would enjoy but since my little friend isn’t a great breakfast eater, I asked the waitress if we could get her some Mac and cheese even though it was only 10am? Of course was her reply and that’s when I knew this was going to be a regular stop for us! I ordered the shrimp and grits and my husband had eggs florentine. My shrimp was cooked to perfection and the grits just had a perfect texture and taste. His eggs were amazing and the hollandaise sauce was smooth and velvety! The kids meal of Mac and cheese was a perfect amount of food and the applesauce was a hit! I will go back again and again!! You should too!!

Food is really good and different.

My best friend and I live in CT and NJ respectively and when she visits family in PA we try and find a midway point to meet up. We picked the Breakfast Boutique because it was in the middle for both of us and we have been there twice. The second time we will admit that they didn't open on time and that was a little annoying but the food is great, and we would definitely go there again.

Called in for breakfast.

By NeilTenby |

My wife and I called in for breakfast at just after 9am. In fairness the place was full but there were two spare 6 seat tables at the far end of the room. We obeyed the sign asking us to wait to be seated. We waited and no one came, despite two staff members at the far end of the room noticing us. Some 5 minutes elapsed and a staff member came to say there was a wait. We waited and still the two empty tables remained empty. We had the impression that they were hoping for a group to cone in to fill the two six seater tables. I also didn’t like the fact that the prices weren’t displayed nor a menu offered to us to look at whilst we waited. They didn’t explain what the wait was for so we walked out. We won’t go back as the staff displayed poor customer service. This is America and it is full of other choices.

The breakfast boutique 6800 Germantown Avenue

By Rita Hubbard |

The breakfast boutique 6800 Germantown Avenue. I had home fries which were undercooked white not even season correctly. I told him I didn’t want any eggs didn’t like eggs they gave me eggs anyway. The fish was horrible first and last time won’t visit that again

Bad experience

By T B |

I'm a trained chef and I decided to go the breakfast boutique in Chestnuthill , to see what all the hype was about. Well, I wasn't impressed at all.The wait was long they always say it's about a fifteen minute wait , which could easily turn into an hournot too include the hour you have to wait to actually receive your food. I ordered the waffles and jerk chicken, HORRIBLE. The wings had all this caked on paste like salty jerk seasoning. The waffles were pretty good though. If anyone says these jerk wings are good they don't know anything about jerk chicken. Also, you had to flag down a waitress to get more napkins, the thing is they just start you off with one cheap paper thin napkin which your silverware is wrapped in like they are trying to save money. Extremely long wait , horrible sevice and nasty to mediocre food . Would not recommend.

A must if in the area

Yummy!!

By Kirsten E |

Just dined there for the first time this week. Overall - great menu options and it was really difficult to pick just one (good thing there was a group of us and we could sample each other's plates!). Welcoming atmosphere, and even for a weekday morning, it was crowded! The only hiccup would be to make sure you have time to sit and relax when dining here - it did take a little bit of time between ordering the food and it coming out to the table! Overall though, our group enjoyed our yummy breakfasts and the overall vibe! We plan on going back!

OUTSTANDING

By Alene S |

What a gem! Eclectic menu of fresh, creative, and delicious food. Great atmosphere with warm and friendly staff. Reasonably priced. We went both days we were in town and were warmly greeted with hugs for returning. Cannot wait until I am in the Philadelphia area again.

Support Local Business

By Frugalfranie |

Saw a blog on the owners on Facebook and I’m so glad we stopped in!!! Cute little cafe, parking stinks but.. get there early! Food and service was phenomenal.. Kim our waitress knew the menu and although I wanted to try the jerked chicken and waffles, I couldn’t pass on the shrimp n grits. TRY THEM, amazing... Although they have a kids menu they don’t have kids cups so be careful. Also they were very accommodating with the kids menu, I didn’t see red velvet on the menu for the toddler but they happily prepared them for us. Will go back!

Eat Here With Friends

Fod and service are reliably good. I've eaten at Breakfast Boutique since they first opened on Ogontz Avenue, then followed by Broad and Nedro, then Mt. Airy. The Chestnut Hill location is best. Geat menu.

Worth the wait.

I ordered pancakes, turkey bacon, and home fries. I must admit that the wait was a little longer than I anticipated. However, the presentation of my for was beautiful and the taste was just as good.

Breakfast

By Jeffrey Anthony Maxwell |

It lives up to its name. Small and personal atmosphere. Being a boutique size you never feel like you are in a crowded restaurant. The food was delicious and full of flavors. The staff were friendly and provide us will wonderful customer service. We planning to have a brunch party there.

Love this place

By Linda M |

The menu has so many great choices that when my friend from CT comes to PA (I live in NJ) we pick this place to meet up because their food is that good. Every time we go we pick something different on the menu because we want to try everything. I highly recommend this little gem.

Phone order

By Stay28119030906 |

Called in a phone order for 3 pancakes, bacon, and over easy eggs w/cheese. The lady who took the order was very pleasant and repeated my order just to confirm everything was right, she said it should be around 15 minutes for the wait. As I finally got there, my order was ready but there was no cheese on my eggs after I was charged for it. I couldn’t wait for them to add cheese because I was on my way to work already running late. After I got my platter and left, I realized everything was cold down to the pancakes. This was a $14 dollar meal that went to waste..... very disappointed

A really good breakfaste

By philadad |

The restaurant is small and it seems to have become very popular very quickly. Thus, there may be a wait to get served. I got there early for breakfast and had no problem getting seated. Even if I had to wait (for a reasonable time or I might leave only because I am hungry) it would be worth the wait. The staff is very nice and the food is plentiful and really good. I will return. The lunch menu also looked very interesting. Everything is made to order and very good.

Poor customer service

By Elisha L |

Me and my husband went here for breakfast after church and were told the wait was 45 minutes. When we got seated it was two hours later and hostess did not go by list was putting people ahead of other people who had been waiting. This is the second restaurant of this owner we have visited and customer service was horrible . When we did get our food my husband bacon wasn’t done . Last time for us .

Family Gathering For Breakfast

By JamieJW |

Breakfast gathering this morning for my siblings and I and a great breakfast at the Breakfast Boutique. My partner and I both ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes and thought the pancakes were quite good, not heavy. My sister ordered the Green Eggs and Ham, loving every bite. My brother and my brother in law both ordered the Easy Morning with eggs, potato's and toast. Great meals. Service was fantastic!!

disappointed

By Ann H |

This was an extremely poor experience. I take into consideration that they are new and were slammed on Memorial day but knowing that this is their second location I expect most of those kinks to be worked. When we arrived we were told 20 - 30 minutes. We waited for 45 minutes before they seated us and another 25 at our table before anyone acknowledged we were sitting there. The manager (owner?) was chatting with one table of customers and the hostess sat up front on her phone when she wasn't answering the business phone. No one was refilling coffee or water. Finally, the waitress took our order, we received our drinks and continued to wait another 45 minutes for our food. We ordered eggs with hash, pancakes and traditional eggs, bacon and hash-browns. The pancakes and eggs with hash came first. Two fluffy pancakes topped with a strawberry and "Iknowthatwasnt" butter, served with maple flavored high fructose corn syrup. The eggs and hash were over hashed and under seasoned. Then the bacon and eggs appeared with typical cubed potatoes, nicely browned with little to no seasoning. The bacon was tasteless. The egg-white of the over easy eggs were clear and even cool on the inside. But no one returned to ask us how our meal was until we were finished. I mentioned the eggs and the waitress said: "that's over easy". She did offer to have them cook me new ones but by that time we were DONE. I did eat a bit of the undercooked egg and was sick for about 24 hours. Sadly, we were really excited about a breakfast in our neighborhood but this won't be it.

Incredibly slow service

By rioNbella2010 |

Wonderful food, but the worst service I've had in a LONG time. We came in on a Monday afternoon around 1, and there were only 2 other tables seated at the time. After we were seated, it was several minutes before someone took our drink orders. Then another 10 minutes before we given our beverages. A few more minutes passed before a waitress FINALLY approached and took our orders. We weren't served our food until 40 minutes later. No apologies or explanations for the wait, and the restaurant was very quiet at this point. I can understand waiting a bit longer for food if an establishment is jam packed, but can't fathom why simple breakfast food should take such an excruciating long time if the place is empty. The food was delicious when it finally did arrive, but the incredibly slow service and apathetic staff will keep us from returning again.
