I tried several of their beers and loved them all! I will go back as the service was great and the bartender very well versed in beer!

I know this is a brewery but oh my gosh the food is top quality! Burgers with so much flavor and cooked fresh and rare... Pork sandwich rocks, the roasted jalapeños are phenomenal! Everything really! The beer is good too by the way! Ha! Just a great place to enjoy all around.

Waffle fries (regular or sweet potato) with blue cheese, bacon & Gorgonzola sauce is amazing! Huge portion!! Their cubano and their ham & cheese sandwiches are also excellent. Every time I come to Portland I stop here for my waffle fry fix! Doesn't matter what night of the week you go, be prepared for at least a 15 minute wait. Worth it!

I'm not a beer drinker, but went here with clients for dinner. Great cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. Nice, casual outdoor dining in a quiet urban setting.

Here's a neighborhood gem, if there ever was one. Brews of all kinds of makes - fruits, sours, IPA's. To go along with one of the pours, choose their cannot-put-it-down burger with a side of deep fried pickles. Or maybe the blue cheese waffle fries. If you need healthy, opt for their delicious superfood salad. Great beers with scrumptious food. You will not go wrong.

We went on a very busy Sunday evening. At about 730, there was a 20 minute wait for a table so we shared a beer on the street at one of their picnic tables. The place was full and a little loud. Good vibe. The wait staff were friendly and the service they gave was very good. We tried their Wanderlust IPA and loved it. With our meal we had a sampler of six beers, three IPAs, a Wit and two experimentals. The double IPA experimental/seasonal, The Pathfinder, was aged in gin barrels and if they bottled it, we would have bought some to take home. It was strange and wonderful. As it was, we took a bottle of each of their Wanderlust and Flagship IPAs. The tomato chipotle soup was great and the pork belly sandwich was seasoned with Asian spices and garnished with a creamy fennel, carrot and jalapeño slaw. One of the best pork sandwiches I've had. I wish we lived near here. We would visit often.

My favorite place in Portland. Always the best beer, tasty and well prepared food, very friendly service. This place is busy on all nights and it's easy to see why. The beer is excellent with multiple choices on tap. Food choices are varied and should suit almost anyone's dietary choices. Specials are frequently offered for entrees and desserts. Have I mentioned how good the beer is? I live within walking distance and eat at Breakside weekly, either solo or with my daughter. The staff is always welcoming, handles the crowds of hungry diners with ease, and is very knowledgeable about the beer choices as well as the food. Elliot and Tyler are both exceptional servers! We have tried many different menu options with our go to favorite being the reuben sandwich. The lamb burger is to die for, buttermilk friend chicken amazing, and their tomato chipotle soup delicious. The absolute best entree that we've had was enchiladas verdes, not on the regular menu but on the specials menu one night. Dining in and out of doors is available. The only complaint I would have is that sitting upstairs gets very hot and could really use a/c! I hope the owner finds a way to make that improvement and possibly do winter time temporary enclosure of the outdoor tables to accommodate the crowds!

Recommended by a Portland Native, we were not disappointed. They didn't take reservations so our group of 18 just showed up and hoped for the best. We had one server that was spread across the entire restaurant space. Not the best service, but when he did make it around he was fairly helpful. The food was great. We tried some things we hadn't ever before and really enjoyed it. Everything is fresh, tasty, and even our kids loved what they ordered. The beer was the real reason for coming and we were happy with the selections. Their Salted Caramel Stout (collaboration with Salt & Straw) caused us to seek out Salt & Straw later in the evening for ice cream (you should go too!) Definitely do the tasting flight; there are too many to enjoy!

Breakside Brewing's production space is in an industrial space in suburban Milwaukie. The tasting room is huge, which is good since it can get packed. It would be even better if it did. the variety of beers available is impressive. Take a tour if you can, since it's quite a facility and our tourguide (Daniel) was a hoot. I know it's a "just" tasting room, but I wish it had food.

I was traveling with a friend and we told our server we were traveling and tasting beers. Not only did she give us great suggestions, she even drew us a map, AND based that map on places we withing walking distance of one another. Her name is Elliott, by the way and she is awesome. It's been almost a year since I went to Breakside and I still remember this awesome place and server. Give her a raise!!!

Large meals, proper pints, and nice servers. The beer is good, the food is well thought out, and there are several areas to sit. We sat outside on a drizzly day and everyone was as nice as could be. Ordered the imperial nachos ($14) and the table of 7 adults was quite happy. Lots of different meals ordered, almost everyone cleaned their plate (just short of licking it). Great burgers and sandwiches with a good selection of sides (waffle fries?!). Have gone several times and never been disappointed.

Great place great environment great seating great beer great food......need I say more. They have a great selection of beer samples so you can try them out and they have a great selection on tap. Decent food options with a really good Ahi-tuna sandwich.....loved it

It was a bit chilly when we visited, but there were MANY people enjoying the sunny day and sitting outside with their pups. We sat "inside" but so many of the walls open up to the outdoors it was more like sitting on a covered patio. The selection of beer and wine was very good and my husband loved it!

Stopped here for lunch and it earned it's 5 stars. Had the bacon cheeseburger with the Breakside IPA. The beer was perfect and the burger was spot on! Service was excellent and the atmosphere is what one would expect from an establishment such as this place. Casual, great food and awesome service make this a must stop if you are in the area. Parking is a bit of an issue on the streets but if you can parallel park then you get to eat. Enjoy this tucked away gem!!!

I don't normally leave reviews but after this experience.... My wife and daughter and I walked in and talked to the hostess who told us to sit wherever we want. We took a high chair and sat outside at a picnic table and waited for about 5 minutes without a menu or any requests to order a drink or any acknowledgement of our existence whatsoever. I decided to get up and pour myself and my wife some water out of their self-serve water dispenser and sat for another 10 minutes while we drank our water. After 15 minutes, I asked the couple sitting at the other end of our table who were just finishing, whether we could take their menu. After deciding what we wanted to drink, I considered going to the bar to order (thinking they were just busy). But then a server delivered some food to the table next to us and another server took the payment from the couple at the other end of our table. I tried to make eye contact and get his attention but he just gave me a quick glance and moved on. Another server checked on the table behind us. At that point it seemed personal. Apparently they didn't want to serve us so we left. We'll never be back. Widmer, Ecliptic, McMenamin's, HUB, Lucky Lab, Laurelwood, Broadway, or anything on the westside blow this place out of the water. Don't bother with this place. I've been to most brewpubs in Portland and never received service this bad.

Mostly IPAs offered here but had a hoppy Hef and a Smoky Porter. Hoppy Hef was exactly as described and the Smoky Porter was a bit too sweet for me. Pastrami Rueben was yummy and the waffle fries were a welcome change over garlic fries.

Four of us Ate here on a Saturday evening around 6pm. We were told there would be a 40 minute wait but we decided to try it anyway. We were seated in only 10 minutes! Seats were upstairs which is really a neat area. Two of us had the pork belly burger and we both loved it! That pork belly melts in your mouth and the pork rinds were freshly cooked. I had the coffee stout which was delicious. One person had the tuna nicoise and other had the steak salad. Both enjoyed them very much. Only a couple of minor problems, it took quite a while for one member to receive the beer she ordered and her food didn't come out with the rest of the dinners. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place!

Great neighborhood restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Servers were all friendly. Food is yummy and in mid price range. I don't drink beer but everyone who was seemed to be happy. Fish and chips were great. Olive oil cake was delicious but the coulis made it a little too sweet.

Breakside is an excellent brewery; this is one of three locations. There is a decent sized bar, an open dining area and a large patio. They serve four year-round beers and several seasonals. I enjoyed their IPAs, one of which was a tasty sessional. They serve beer to go, so you can take a few home. Plesant service and a very amiable atmosphere makes this a must. Though somewhat out of the way, there is a bus line (75) that passes right by.

I love the quinoa/Kale salad and everyone can find a beer or cider to enjoy. Outdoor tables in the summer, cozy inside in the winter. A fun little neighborhood to discover.

I send my AirBnB guests down the street to Breakside all the time and they love it - great beer and equally great food. My personal favorites on the menu are the pulled pork nachos and the lamb burger - both are the best you'll find in Portland, and generous portions. They also have a friendly and stellar staff!

Their beers are all fabulous, and so is their food. We love the ahi sandwich, mac & cheese, and the nachos. Dogs are welcome outside. Wait staff are kind and courteous.

Excellent IPA's and the food awesome! Had the spicy grilled cheese sandwich with the chipolte tomato soup.

A great place in the middle of the neighborhood! We rented and AirBNB nearby and walked here. It was just staring to fill in with locals out for a drink and chilling in Portland. We didn't order any food, just beverages. Staff was friendly and the beer was great! Seating inside and out.

Decided to go here due to its proximity to our hotel. The place is pretty small and was pretty packed for a Tuesday night. However, we only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. We ended up at this weird table that was the shape of a barrel and had to sit on this uncomfortable stools. I would recommend waiting for a regular table that's upstairs. However, the food and service were really great. We got the fried pickles and I had the mussels. The mussels were huge and absolutely delish!! I don't know if I'd come back here again if I was in Portland, but I definitely would say it was a good experience overall.

We have eaten and "sampled" a number of breweries in the Portland area and these guys get it right with both beer and food. I'm not an IPA guy but their breakside is quite good. I also tried a sour and a BBA Imperial Stout which was outstanding. Get a table in the evening outside and get ready to call an Uber... it'll be worth it.

Went on a Saturday night and it was a full house. Lots of outside seating on a busy corner. The best bang for your buck when it comes to beer flights (6 for $9). The food was also good. Friendly and attentive staff.

I have had over 150 IPAs since moving here and they are my fav. Love the standard IPA but the new Session Double may beat it. They brew for the 1% beer geeks. Nice space too.

Casual vibe, the entire place is open to the air with several garage style roll-up doors. Not huge, but plenty of seating indoor and out when I showed up. Inside is high bar table seating, outside is low picnic table style seating. I couldn't decide between the pulled pork sandwich and the Cubano. Waitress said both were excellent and I went with the Cubano. What an amazing sandwich, possibly because it's in the traditional style, and then pulled pork is added on top. I like the hoppier beers, like Pale Ale or IPA. I tried the flagship and the Wanderlust. Both really good. I got into a conversation with the bartender and a local about the craft brew scene in Portland, and soon I had tasters of a couple other beers. The one that really stood out is Plutarch, which is a tap-only special version of Oligarch, their whiskey barrel aged porter. Highly recommended.

Had dinner with friends, had two tasty beers (Breakside IPA and the Salted Caramel Stout) and an amazing lamb burger with waffle fries and house made ketchup. Delicious and I will definitely be back!

We adore Breakside! 10 taps of delicious beers to choose from, from their signature hops-forward IPA's to some deep, dark stouts, you'll find some brew to love. Add a local flavored menu (the Breakside Burger stuffed with smoked bleu cheese is mighty good) with tempting specials (last night, Dungeness Crab Cakes--oh, my!) , super friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a cozy, buzzing vibe, and you have a favorite place to return to again and again. Free parking in the hood, kids welcome upstairs or outside at the long picnic tables. The bar is the best spot for grown ups.

We had a quick lunch here after arrival to Portland. The portions are too big to finish. I would recommend sharing them! It is a bit stuffy and sticky tables but otherwise a great place.

If you haven't had Breakside beer and you like craft beer this is a must visit. Easily one of the best IPA's in the US and a really solid line-up of other beers as well. The food is really good and service is generally very good. My only knock on the service comes when I've come as part of a large group. Twice I've come as part of 15-20 people and called ahead (twice, at least a week ahead and then also a day ahead) and both times the bar manager on site has been rude about our large group. Luckily this was offset by incredible service from our server who took great care of us so it's because of that great effort by the server that I'll still give it an excellent rating. Overall I highly recommend Breakside for great beer and good food!

Had a great meal with family here. The lines waiting to get in says it all. Have a relative who's an exec at a well-known brewing company who said this place had the best microbrews around. Totally agree, treat yourself (and a friend) to 2 samplers with examples of all their beers from lager to kolsch to IPA and beyond- all were great!

Arrived Portland airport midday. Daughter and her pup picked us up and we enjoyed a great lunch here before heading to her home in Lake Oswego. Our waitress was super friendly, the beer was really good and we enjoyed wraps and a salad and waffle fries! Great vibe. Would love to go back.

Having just flown into town, this is a great stop before you head into the heart of Portland. 6 miles from the freeway, comfortable outside/inside seating and the beer was just right! We didn’t have the food this time but we will next time around for sure.

Tasty beers at a pleasant local brewery, where you can seat outside. Great variety of beers and ciders, very friendly staff. My favorite bar in Portland.

Breakside has broken out - -what was once just a sleep neighborhood pub now has at least three locations, and the latest one is near the tonier parts of NW Portland. But I always go the original in Northeast. The vibe is cozy, the food is pretty damn good and the service is always super friendly. And no matter which location, the beer is excellent; I always end up with the reliably hoppy Breakside IPA (not a big fan of the Wanderlust). In the eastside location, The Dekum Pub, get there before 5pm cause it fills up quickly, especially on a weekend, and the parking is quickly become hard to come by. The Caesar salad is yummy, the Chicken nachos are awesome, and the pulled pork sandwhich is huuuge! And tasty. This place is the real deal.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch after flying into PDX. Very friendly place with great service. We shared the Mediterranean mussels and a Cubano sandwich. Both were really good. The pilsner and the salt caramel stout were also good. We thought it was a good value. The brewery had a great neighborhood feel. If we have a chance, we will return.

On my to the Portland airport and stopped for lunch. Really glad we did. The food was excellent, and the beer outstanding ... a very wide range of taps to suit any taste! The staff were friendly and very happy to chat about the various beers on tap. My son is snowboarder and they provided a ton of information on snowboarding in the region (Mt Hood in particular), even getting someone from the kitchen to give current condition advice (he had snowboarded the day before). Wish I'd had more time!

Went on Sunday, early evening. It was packed. Our party of nine only waited 30 minutes before being seated. We were lucky! We all had beer and dinners, were very happy with everything. This is a great local brewery and eatery. Fun! So glad we tried it.

This was one of the best experiences I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Our server was very helpful to one of our group who has issues with certain ingredients. We ordered a sampler of beer, every one of which was excellent. The food was likewise excellent. The lamb burger was heavenly. The salad with hazelnuts and apples was also excellent. The level of service here was outstanding (I would rate the service at 10 stars if that were possible). And Breakside is further proof of our theory that those who make excellent beer serve excellent food to go with it. Of the three breweries we visited while in Portland, this one was by far my favorite. I would highly recommend it.

Went with a group of 6. Service was excellent! I had a lunchbreak and wanderlust beer and both were very good! Also had the ahi sandwich and that was one of the best I've had! Highly recommend checking it out if you like good beer and food!

Such a cool spot, people of all ages just hanging out. Beers are great, pub grub is spot on and the music is funky. I always have a good time here

did the portland sunday parkways with friends, and ate here afterwards...our friend had an ipa, and my partner and i shared a seared ahi tuna and a portebello mushroom sandwich..i had a salad too...food was excellent...our friends had their dish too, but both were too hot/spicy...only complaint..great place again, thx

If you are a fan of Portlandia, and you liked the Brunch village episode, this brewery is right next door. The food was great and the beer was pretty good too. My wife got a sampler but she actually liked the beer I got better.

We picked this brewery because they are pup friendly with plenty of outside seating. the portions are quite good and the food is great. I had the pork-belly sandwich while my wife had a salmon salad. Never had pork-belly with an Asian tilt. (plenty of b.b.q but no p.b) The salmon was cooked just right an looked a dinner sized filet. Had a sampler of their beers and my wife fell for something call No-Doubt I think. Had a strong hint of grapefruit. Oh and it did rain outside, be willing to move fast.

I love it when good eats and good beer come together. We visited on a hot summer night and the joint was busy. I applaud the crew here. I watched them work their butts off to provide us a satisfying experience. We ordered a wide selection of food including wraps and burgers. The waffle fries were killer. Everything was spot-on good. We also ordered a few beers and I can say that there is such a wide selection that everyone will find one they enjoy. I few have won national and international awards. So. leave your impatience and attitude at home, this a place that you will enjoy if you go with flow.

Been to breakside several times now after a friend and I met up there because it just happened to be in the middle. This turned out to be one of those great random decisions that led to many more visits. Breakside always seems to have a good IPA and darker beers. But their food... oh man their food is always on point. I usually get nervous when I see a brewery do more than standard pub food, but these guys pull it off. I love their burger, their ahi sandwich, and sliders. This place has a great staff, and do a good job even on crazy busy nights.

The signature burger and a stout really hit the spot. Wish I had time to try more of the beers! The end...................

We came here with three generations - sat outside and had an absolutely wonderful evening. The beer selections were varied - and all very good! Our absolute favorite beer was a Golden Ale. Ironically, I came here for a beer that was rated 97 out of 100 in Beer Advocate. While it was no longer available, all the other beers were worthy of out time and attention.

Headed down to PDX for a concert and were looking for a little Brewery to have a beer and dinner before the show and found Breakside..Nice place, the usual, now popular restored "garage" turned into a Brewery..very nicely done...Service and Beer was excellent (White-Tea-Rice!!) and even bought a few bottles that they sell from the cooler. We DID NOT eat there as expected....reason...it was freaking too cold...the whold side of building is Glass garage doors and yoou could feel the cold coming thru them..I still love the place, and will go back when weather is warmer (and it was in the 40;s when we went, seemed warmer outside)....We just didnt want to be eating dinner in our Jackets...Still a 5 * place otherwise...

We live in Vancouver (Canada) and any time we drive down to Portland we always make this our first stop. Excellent beer and reasonably priced food options.

Food is pretty good and a great accompaniment for the beer. But you should be coming here for the beer! It's just solid beer done right. Awesome!

Wanted something light and so I Had the periwinkle beer and no regrets there, it was good. We also had cheeseburger and pork belly burger, both of which were excellent and beef patty was tender. We will visit here again for sure !

We visited tonight for the first time and found Breakside Brewery very enjoyable! It was a cool Portland evening and the side of the restaurant was open with large community tables on the sidewalk. I really don't have a feel for dining here most of the year when its too cold to be opened up. There isn't a lot of seating in the ground floor area, but I didn't make my way upstairs to check it out so I'll likely go back in the winter to see what its like. We were quickly approached by a person delivering menus, and then again quickly by a server taking drink orders. The wait from ordering drinks to the time of arrival seemed longer than I expected, but it wasn't super long. The menu is pretty large plus they have a specials menu. Five of us ordered sandwiches and one ordered the Superfoods Salad which she loved. The person who had the pork loin sandwich from the specials menu said it was good, the pulled pork person loved it, the ruben sandwich was called excellent, and my bacon cheeseburger was very good. Sandwiches come with waffle fries or a cup of soup and you can upgrade to salad, a bowl of soup, or cheese fries. Two of us chose cheese fries which means standard waffle fries with cheese fondu poured over then topped with blue cheese crumbles and chopped scallions. They were very good! Servers were perfectly engaging and quite pleasant. Atmosphere was very nice. Prices were right in line with market, exactly what I expected, except the wine by the glass was lower that typical for a pub in the Portland area. I would recommend a visit if you like a pub environment and this type of food. I'll be back in a couple months to see what its like when the doors are closed.

We stopped by before our flight home. Just minutes from the Airport. Very friendly staff, our server Laura was awesome! We share some appetizers, and they were very good. We also had some of the best beer of our trip here.

Checking out the local craft beer while visiting friends in the area. Good beer, nice staff. Seating can be hard to get since they don't have much room and were pretty busy both times we visited. Dog friendly, indoor & outdoor seating, beer to go. We've been to a LOT of breweries! We are traveling full time in an RV and make a point to try as many places as we can, and sometimes even go out of our way to visit a brewery. I can proudly say that we've been to at least 200 breweries including most of the ones near our home in San Diego. Also, the rest of Calif, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana.

With so many breweries in Portland it can be hard to choose but this is one of my favourites. It's a little outside downtown but worth a visit for the great food and beer.

These guys definitely know how to brew a good beer. I tried what I could in the time I had. Multiple beers. Never disappointed. The pork belly sandwich. What can I say.... As described in the menu... Marinated in soy sauce, ginger, and star anise... It sounds... Ummmm.... Discouraging. I decided to order it anyway. Upon receiving that meat packet of awesome, I was totally delighted to find a dinner worth dining for. Great sandwich. Sit at the bar to avoid a wait.

One of my Favorite places in town. Great beer but not just beer they have great food. A buddy and I stopped for the big Nacho plate thinking no problem eating nachos. We tried our best but could not finish the big one. Two people can easily get stuffed on the small one. The hummus plate is one of our alternatives, the wife likes all the veggies, cheese and olives, and great for two. Outdoor picnic tables you share, roll up garage doors when its nice. Gets crowded on the weekends. Friendly place.

Excellent beer selection. We had the Wanderlust IPA and the Breakside IPA. The Breakside was one of the best we have had, and the Wanderlust wasn't far behind. The menu was very good and everything that came out of the kitchen looked great. We had the jalapeno poppers and the Cubano with the blue cheese waffle fries. All very good.

Visited on the recommendation of a friend and it was worth the trip to this part of town. Their beers are worth the trip alone but I was surprised to find a menu that was not your average pub fare. Tried 1 appetizer and we shared 2 menu items - all were exceptional! The Carnivore Mac&Cheese is excellent! I will be back next time I go to Portland!

Lots of beer on draft and they offer flights. They have a nice, large patio area. And they do serve food.

First, this is a brewery, so I will say the beers were very good. I got a sampler. Surprisingly, the one I liked best was a sweet potato pumpkin seed mild. Man, that was really good! Rich and flavorful for a low alcohol beer; very well brewed. There was also a smoked lager and a few IPA's. All great. The passion fruit sour beer was a bit strange for me. The food was decent. I started with a salad with apples, blue cheese, and hazelnuts. That was a great combo of flavors. Then I had two apps for my main meal. I had the roasted habanero wings, and the jalapeno poppers. The wings had no heat, no habanero flavor. I always feel cheated if the menu says something is hot, and then it comes our blah. Plus, the wings were not really cooked well. Wings should have a crisp skin and be moist inside. These were just soggy. The jalapenos showed some promise. Stuffed with cheese and chorizo. There was not much chorizo and the cheese was a little bland, but the peppers were cooked nicely. They still had some crunch, which I like because they retain some chile heat then.

Stopped in for lunch. Sadly their nectarine/peach beer was not available. Had another nice beer. Our waitresses were terrific. The ahi and the pork sandwiches were great. The waffle fries were better than most - especially with blue cheese. Nice place. Unlike Indiana, kids are welcome = saw several infants and toddlers with parents - nice for them.

We loved Breakside Brewery. The food is super fresh - the nachos and macaroni and cheese were amazing. The beers are super (try the rainbows and unicorns). Great spot!

Enjoyed the beer selections, but problems with pricing. Their Pretzel appetizer is good & very large. Price is now increased to $13. The problem is that they give you only a very small amount of cheese (less than a golf ball sized amount) which is good for about a third of the pretzel. If you request extra cheese, you can get it for $2. more (they only tell you that later after you have the pretzel) - still not enough. Not bad for the restaurant, a 15% increase in the price of the pretzel & you still don't get enough dipping cheese. .... Poor PR.

This was a great spot to spend an evening with a group of colleagues who met up at a conference. The food was great, all organic and the venue was hopping (pardon the pun).

We got there around 5:30 on a Sunday. Got a booth immediately. They serve beer. They were out of rose, out of white wine so I got red and didn't drink it. I like spirits. We were 4 adults and one 3 year old who enjoyed his chicken nuggets. My husband had a Ruben sandwich, I had carne asada (tough) with some corn tortillas. My son had a large caesar salad. The place is lively, noisy, kids were well mannered while parents enjoyed themselves.

This is the first bad review I've actually taken the time to write but it's a long time coming and since there doesn't seem to be any managers working there that I've seen, this is the only way to air my grievances. I've lived in Woodlawn neighborhood for a year now and have tried giving Breakside a chance many times. Every time I have lunch there I tell myself I'm not coming back, then a few months later I think, "Well, it's so convenient tho, maybe it wasn't as bad as I remember." The food is good for the most part, aside from my experience today (and the pizza pretzel is a mess of dough and sauce, even stoned I couldn't eat it) . It's the wait time and the attitude I get from the staff when I ask about the food's progress that bothers me most. Maybe it's just my time working in restaurants that makes me more sensitive to the usual way customers are treated, but the staff act annoyed and it has put me off for the last time. Today my burger took 37 minutes and came out well done with cold fries, wilted lettuce and a stiff bun. It was obviously under the heater for a while, but when I asked about the progress 25 minutes in I was told simply, "We know where to find you." It's the attitude of the staff that I find most distasteful. If you're looking to buy a 6 pack or just a couple beers, it's fine. Just don't expect to be treated like you matter.

I visited here with another couple and our little kids. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were seated quickly. Servers and Hostess were friendly and helpful. I personally didnt enjoy their menu and I tried a variety of things. Their beer was good but I didnt love the many types I tried. I liked them but didn't love them. Location is good for parking, not as busy as NW 21st or 23rd. I really wanted to enjoy the food, the drinks were good.

The place was slammed when we arrived, but that didn't stop the staff from offering great service! The pretzels our table got were enormous, and the mustard that accompanied them was the perfect complement. I also ordered crab cakes, and those were devoured by everyone at the table to rave reviews. I would highly recommend the sampler of 6 popular beers (my favorite was the gore) and one of the servers recommended an off-menu item: order the Mexican Coffee stout, and ask for vanilla ice cream to be put in it like a root beer float. It sounded divine as a dessert, and my fiancé and I definitely plan to try it next time.

Okay, so I haven't tried all of the IPAs in Portland, not even close, but the Breakside IPA is my favourite one so far. The staff were excellent. We also got a growler filled for $17 including the new growler bottle which is pretty reasonable. Wings, cheeseburger and hummus plate are all worth a mention too. Great spot.

Twenty minute wait on a Saturday at 2:30pm. They were down a hostess but still attentive as well as they could be. There were times it would have been faster to just order drinks at bar and bring them to our table. My husband said his burger was one of the best he's had ( he's a burger authority) but my Cubano was served on burnt baguette that could break your teeth out! Loved the spice level on it though. I would come here just for the beer, the food was a miss for me that day.

Great food and drink. Excellent service. Good range of options including gluten free. Always busy, especially on nice weather days. Be prepared to wait if you want to sit outside.

More funky Portland. Great beer and appetizers (try the jerked pork nachos) in a typical funky setting

Going off a recommendation from a friend, me, my girlfriend and a few friends all met up at Breakside for dinner and beers. My girlfriend ordered a salad and I ordered a cheeseburger, along with a Pilsner and a Stout beer. Everything was fine, but I would say it's fairly standard brewery food with some solid beer. The seating was also fairly limited due to a closed section (which I had assumed was due to a private party, but was just closed due what I would assume the restaurant not wanting to re-clean that particular section) and we sat next to the kitchen, which during the heat wave was pretty toasty. No complaints, but nothing that I would say is a must.

Atmosphere was great - food, not so. hubby ordered pulled pork sandwich - bread was hard as rock - could not bite through it-or cut through it either - it was discarded - pork was good tho. I had plank salmon - I like my Salmon medium rare -which it was - and cold. Beer was good.

Good service, better food , best stout brewed in Portland! Maybe the best stout I have had anywhere!

Great beer brewed onsite, such as the Wanderlust. They had a good pilsner and blonde ale, too, and the bartender was friendly.

Everything was sooo good! They have some tasty unique menu items. We ordered thai peanut wings, porkbelly sandwich, blackened chicken sandwich, salmon burger, blue cheese fries...all was fanastic and our server Tyler was very attentive and great customer service. With small kids he made sure where to set items and stayed on top of refills. Definitely recommend this place😊

Leaving Portland and a few hours to spare before our flight took off we went to Breakside Brewery on the advice of some locals. We weren't disappointed. There were four of us and we all tried a few different beers. I had the Wanderlust IPA and then tried some sample glasses of about four more beers. I had another IPA, a cider and the grapefruit beer and also the beer with the highest AC which had a chocolate creme pie taste. Everything was good but I liked the Wanderlust the best. A few of the guys with us had burgers and I tried the wings which were also good. The brewery was packed on a Wednesday night so it must be popular. I would definitely return.

This restaurant has horribly oversalted Sysco food and the beer really isn't that great. Overcrowded and under staffed. Much better choices around the neighborhood that we will gladly go back to. Not Breakside though.

Girlfriend and I went on a Saturday night at 7pm, needless to say it was very busy. We waited between 20-30 minutes to get seated. But it was absolutely well worth the wait. The 3 beers we tried were exceptional (IPA all the way) and the food was some of the best we had on our trip.

After finding parking a few blocks away we walked up to this open air pub. There are picnic tables outside and tables inside but the entire restaurant is open. It was 90 degrees that day. We decided to stay as we were really hungry. The beer selection was great! They had many of their own beers in several different varities. Two of us had beer. Awesome beer! The food was amazing. I had the banh mi and found it wonderful!

There's a great tasting beer for anyone who likes beer. We got the sampler and liked most of the beers. The sandwiches, wraps, and waffles fries were all interesting and tasty. I had buffalo chicken sandwich had the right amount of spice and good texture. Service was solid too.

recommended by hotel staff and it was worth a 30 minute walk in a trendy neighborhood. The mushroom mac was so good and the beer was awesome with it. Would go again next time we are in town. Staff nice. location is good.

We ate lunch here and my sister and husband sampled beers. The service was good. Chicken wings and nachos was quite a bit for two to finish. I had a chicken burger which was delish. Others said food was good. We sat just inside large doors. Patio outside with tables which was dog friendly.

The beers were very good and the food was beyond the typical bar food. Maybe our server was having a bad night, but she was not very friendly or accommodating to our needs. It did not seem that terribly busy time when we visited. Lets chalk it up to a bad night! We would try this place again sometime.

Great place to sit and visit with friends. Bartenders were exceptionally friendly and were patient answering questions about their beers. Plenty of choices for bar food, very family oriented, dog friendly, and relaxing. Great choice for a Saturday afternoon of R& R

Went there today for drinks and food. Sat upstairs at one of their booths, and enjoyed a relaxed meal and good time together. The food was fine, the service better than most places and the space conducive to good conversation. There are a lot of seating options, and the bar/restaurant feels spacious!

We are in Portland to visit relatives and was looking for a place to eat where we could take our dog. Breakside has a large outdoor patio that allows dogs, and even provided water bowls with ice for the pooches. It's a brewery so we tried one of the beer samplers (I think there were two samplers consisting of 6 small glasses of beer). This was a great way to try some of their beers before committing to a full glass. Of course, it helped that there were four of us, otherwise being a light drinker I would have never been able to finish all six samples myself. The food was okay. We started with the tuna tostada appetizer, which came with three tostadas with grilled tuna, lettuce, sauce, very good and enough to share among three of us. One of us had the double cheese burger which was quite juicy and good. We also had the faro and tofu bowl which is good for vegetarians. Two of us also tried the vegetable wrap, the only thing that wasn't quite that good due to most of the veggies, or the sauce, being too heavy on the vinegar or pickling agent. Still, it was great to find a place that was welcoming to our dog.

Fun brewery with plenty of seating. I enjoyed the marzen style beer and the nachos with pulled pork. There were a lot of dogs with their owners and staff was very dog friendly.

My wife, daughter/son in law, son/daughter in law went here for dinner on a Friday evening. We had to wait about 15 minuets, but once seated the service was excellent. Good beer, good food, outside seating or very open indoor seating. What I really like about this place and other pubs in Portland is that they have garage doors that really open up the interior.

One of my best places let me down. Walked in and seated myself. Three employees behind the bar looked right at me and ignored me. Wanted a great beer and food, but obviously I was a bother to them. So I left and went to Kennedy School where there is Great Beer, Great Food and GREAT SERVICE!!!!

I used to live near Hood River, and whenever I had to pick someone up at PDX airport I'd always make this a stop. Closest brewery and one of the closer eateries to PDX. Their beers are outstanding; some of my favorites all-time are from here (Wanderlust IPA for one). The food is pretty good also; I was always a fan of their buffalo chicken nachos; the portion sizes are pretty huge, and I usually ended up taking home leftovers. I don't think I've ever been here and have it not been busy, which is a testament to how awesome this place is. There is a fair amount of community picnic seating outside if you're lucky enough to snag, otherwise you might end up having a drink in the bar area, which isn't a bad thing at all. A must-stop if you are a beer lover, or if you are airport-bound and want something different and tasty then check this joint out.

We dined at Breakside on two separate occasions during a ten day trip to Portland. This is a fun pub with a lot of energy, and the service on both occasions was very good. The first night the food was outstanding. I had the Breakside Burger and wifey had the Smokey Cubano. My burger was so juicy that extra napkins were required to finish the task, and we both agreed that the Cubano sandwich was the best ever; however, a week later it was just the opposite. Wifey had the burger this time and specifically asked for medium rare, which the menu states it will be, and it arrived overdone and quite hockey puck-like. Prior to ordering, I asked the table next to us how the Lambwich was and she said it was tasty, but way overdone as well. I opted for the Carnivore Mac & Cheese and I thought it was too salty, and it begged for a coating of golden baked bread crumbs on top. The Mediterranean Mussels, on the other hand, were some of the best I have ever had. They were big, tender and so yummy! I'm sure we will give it another shot some day, maybe for the mussels, a beer or three, and to share a Smokey Cubano sandwich.

Cedarbaumbier is to die for. Absolutely delicious. Got a growler of it. So yummy. Food was wonderful as always. Love the carnita nachos and the carne asada tacos. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Breakside is one of my favorite beers in Portland (which is saying alot). This sit down place with ample outside seating (which always seems to be full) has great sandwiches and waffle cut fries. The food is substantial and delicious as are the beers.

great beer. great food. great service. you can't go wrong here. enjoy the wings and the pilsners. two thumbs up

This was our first stop during a weekend trip to PDX. Grabbed a flight and some food. Beer was ok, didn't stand out to me. The food was good, I would recommend the jalepeno poppers if you're into that. Staff was very amiable, brewery has ties to the ultimate community so we were in good company.

Portland is beer and Breakside is making excellent beer which should be on the top of your list. They earned a gold medal at the GABF in 2014 for their IPA, one of the hardest categories to medal in. They make great beer and are the only brewery in Milwaukie. The tap room serves all their beers, but food options are extremely limited to chips and salsa. One other note are the awesome wait staff who are very knowledgeable about their beer. Cool place with darts, and a football table.

Really great beers, good solid food. It was really busy the night we went, so service was distracted. A Portland must for visiting beer fans.

Long wait for an inside table in the pm but the food was worth it. Blue cheese fries are great. Loved the ahi tuna burger! Beer selection is small but excellent. Great local place!

Nice neighbourhood location for a drink (and food). There is an upstairs area for families to enjoy the food as well as outdoor eating. Staff was friendly and attentive. The craft brews are great (I recommend the Mic Drop IPA). Food was very tasty. We tried the Spicy Grilled Cheese, Cheeseburger and Apple Hazelnut Salad. All were excellent. Would definitely visit again when we come to Portland.

Outstanding location, libations, cuisine and customer service! Craft beers at their best in a very airy, open semi-industrial, yet still very modern setting. Stopped in right at opening, welcomed in with a smile, seated at the bar and promptly greeted. The bartender/manager Vinny was conversational, knowledgeable, doled out samples like a mind reader, and added immensely to the personable experience we had. Started out with the More Friends, More Memories, a somewhat tart and deliciously sweet wood barrel aged brew with a raspberry overtone. We punctuated our beverages with a couple appetizers, although the entire menu of elevated pub fare looked really appetizing! (Burgers, sandwiches, burritos, etc). Had the fried pickles spheres, which are thoroughly dipped in a thick cornbread crust, served with ranch and a spicy aioli... Best fried pickles I've ever had, no lie... and I'm not even a huge fan in general. Other app was the Jalepeño Poppers, halved and full of gooey cheese with chunks of chorizo... Mmm mmm mm! This doesn't even do them justice. Sufficiently full with room for one more beer. Ended the event with the seasonal Fall Apple Ale, spiced and slightly sweetened with the flavors of fall. I enjoyed it almost as much as the first. We also tried multiple IPAs, all of which I was very impressed with, comprised of complex flavors not overwhelmed by screaming hops. The Coming Out Party and What Rough Beast IPAs were two noteworthy beers with great profiles and subtle bites that still let the other unique traits stand out. Thanks again to Vinny for gladly sharing all the tastes and telling us about Breakside. Can't wait to return! Best, ~S

We had the macaroni & cheese (omnivore) and the Ahi Tuna sandwich and both were very good. Be forewarned the wasabi was a bit strong. Lots of beers on tap. We had three different beers and all were excellent.

We visited on one of the first sunny day of the year and sat on their busy patio. Super impressed with the host and how he got people seated quickly and managed the line. I liked that they hard an outside area where you can get a beer from the bar and wait. The inside seemed very modern and clean but we wanted the sunshine, plus we had our pup with us. We only had beer and appetizers, but everything we are was delicious. I had the hummus and hubby had the pickles. I've heard the curry fried chicken is where it's at! Beers were very good, although we only tried the ipa and the session ale, I look forward to trying more. Service was friendly and attentive, helpful with suggestions. We'll be back for sure!!

it was busy but the service was fast and friendly. the beer selection and food was excellent! i would definitely go here again!

I swung by here a while back for a flight of beer. Most of their stuff is hoppy but certainly not all of it. La Tormenta (sour ale) and Will's Alt (altbier) were pretty good, and I'm not really a fan of either style. Wanderlust IPA was a recent gold medal winner at GABF. Breakside IPA had a bit of a resinous hop profile and was probably my favorite.

Our server paired us with the perfect brews based on our taste buds. She was right on! Loved the Toro Red and excellent with the Chipotle Tomato soup. I tasted probably 40-50 beers that week throughout Oregon and Toro Red was the one for me. Olé! Although our food order took longer than usual to get, the great beer and friendly server made up for the slow kitchen.

This is a smaller brewery compared to some of the others but the beer is among the best in Portland and food is quite good too. Highly recommended!

Crazy at it sounds, Unicorns and Rainbows in an IPA are delicious!! Fantastic service, excellent food (Sausage soup and Burgers was our choices) and great location

We did the beer flight. Our favorites were the red and the birra minestra. I had a glass of the passion fruit sour. It was great. My husband liked the Oktoberfest. My macaroni and cheese with bacon was delicious. Great beer, great food and wonderful service!

Met up with friends that were getting married to have a last beer with them. Variety after variety were all super tasty and the prices were great! Ambiance was casual and dimly lit, but was cool. Even had outdoor seating..though could imagine it being cold in the winter. All the staff except for one guy behind the bar was nice. The one guy just responded in such a cold manner and even though we had to pay extra to open up a bottled beer (pub policy), I felt that he was somewhat rude and didn't care. I hope the pub looks to reviewing who they hire and ensure a higher level of customer service. Overall, great experience.

Portland is known for its micro-breweries. Lots and lots of microbreweries. Breakside is one of the very best. Casual place in north Portland that serves both their own beers along with a light menu of lunch food from sandwiches and salads to pizza. Very casual, picnic table style of place with both indoor and outdoor seating.

We met @ the new NW Slabtown location on NW 22nd Ave to celebrate my daughter's graduation from PSU. The upstairs seating by the shuffle board table was great as we were able to get up to mingle with guests. I'm not a big beer drinker but everyone seemed to enjoy theirs & the waiter went out of his way to accommodate me with a mixed drink I would like since they didn't carry Chardonnay. We ordered the pretzels to munch on & they were delish. Several @ our table ordered burgers, etc. & all the food looked good. We will be back the next time we are in Portland.

I normally don't eat a lot of red meat, but I sure made up for it when at Breakside Brewery. The above title is what I ordered and I have to say that it was even fantastic when I heated it up the next day. The beer selection is great, as you would expect, and the staff is very helpful.

Obviously a very popular bar/restaurant...crowded with a good mix of people. Very lively with good beer and good food!

Really good beer! Huge selection of staple and experimental brews. Good service. Always a lively crowd. Highly recommend!

Really good IPA's and very tasty sandwiches. We'd had their beer before so we knew it was good, but the food was great also. We were flying out the next day and were happy to find this so near our airport hotel. What a wonderful way to start our trip! Look forward to visiting the next time we come through. Not a very large space, so if you don't want to wait, get there early.

I can't say enough about this place. Consistently great service, awesome beer and fresh and delicious food. My husband LOVE the ham and cheese sandwich. He says it's the best sandwich he's ever had. I'm partial to the chipotle tomato soup and super food salad. Yum!

Breakside’s a great happenin’ place, the hemp burger and the mac and cheese were fine, the pretzel with the cheese sauce an outstanding little snack! A bit loud but we still enjoyed our conversation!

Took our grandkids here for dinner; very kid friendly with indoor and outdoor seating. Food and beer choices were typical of a brewery and very good. Offered a simple kids menu which was helpful!

This was the 5th brewery we'd visited on the day and we covered the rest in Portland throughout the rest of the week. Breakside is definitely the one I'd come back to first. I have a serious hop addiction and their IPA is a clear standout in a city rich with phenomenal beer. I've never seen a menu with jalapeño poppers and not ordered them, thankfully this time my persistence was rewarded. No frozen, bread-crumbed, tasteless fatty mush here! Fresh grilled jalapeños, split in half and filled with a joyous, unctuous cheesy mouthful of heaven. Breakside burger was perfect too. Great char on the outside but wonderfully juicy on the inside. Made the mistake of offering to share it with my girlfriend, that won't happen again. Service was a bit slack but everybody has a bad day. Going back tomorrow (without my girlfriend)

I love this place. We go there enough to know many of the bartenders and they are all very nice and helpful. I have always enjoyed my food here but two of my favs are the Kale/Brussel Sprout salad (called something like "Super food salad") and the happy hour tomato soup and toasted cheese points. YUM!!! Beer and cider options are fantastic!

Great recommendation to come here for the Ahi Tuna sandwich! Glad I listened because it was amazing and with the sweet potato crisscross fries and blue cheese fondue dip I was so thankful! Highly recommend you visit here awesome service too and outside dining!

We go often, but were there for my husband's birthday on November 7th and it was GREAT! They have a new Imperial Red that is FANTASTIC! What's really cool is that Travis, the first bartender we met years ago on our first visit, was there and knows what we like so he immediately said, "You guys will love the Imperial Red, get them a sample." (He was on break at the time.) And he was right! Since I am gluten-intolerant I am not supposed to drink my favorite beverage IPAs anymore, but I splurged and had one Imp Red and it was worth it! I am so glad that they keep a great dry cider on tap as well for those of us who cannot/should not partake in beer or who simply don't like it. On top of that my husband got the grilled ham and cheese sandwich and said it was the BEST sandwich he had ever had! He LOVED IT! I had my usual, the super food salad, which was delicious. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place!!!

Located in an industrial area with garage door opening to the patio area. Two levels. I found it very friendly including the bartenders. I liked the California Comet Steam Beer, which is light on the tongue at 5.9%. For a stronger ale at 8% try Precious Snowflake which is a double IPAA – very tasty Did not try the food.

We headed to NW Portland to visit a couple distillery tasting rooms (Aria Gin and Bull Run Whiskey). Both tasting rooms we fun and enjoyable. They also sell other bar items. The only suggested improvement would be to have a few bar stools. Both tastings required standing the entire time. After our tastings we headed to Breakside for a late lunch. You must try the giant pretzel. The hummus plate was excellent. Both provide a lot of food, great for sharing. Will return to this neighborhood again, lots of shops and restaurants to check out.

As I mentioned the beer was certainly excellent but my wings left a lot to be desired. They were large but had almost no flavor. Maybe had I gotten something else it would have been different. However, the beer, decor, waitress, and location were all very nice.

Started our Portland OR weekend off right with a visit for IPAs at Breakside! Up in the northeast Woodlawn neighborhood, place was buzzing with locals and craft beer pilgrims for pours and food - MLB and NFL games on the TVs. Breakside IPA (2014 GABF Gold winner) and Wunderlust IPA were the highlights - refreshing and incredibly solid pours. Excellent appetizer options.

This little place fills up nightly with couples, families, and groups of friends. The atmosphere is casual and lively. The beers are interesting and change frequently. Food is above average, upscale pub. The ahi burger with Wasabi aoili and avocado is excellent. Expect to wait for a table. It's worth it!

We only had some drinks here, so can't comment on the food. They have a fairly large patio which was great, on a quiet street, so not much car traffic. The beers were pretty typical for Portland. Nothing stand out, but if you're in the area, definitely stop by for 1 or 2 (at least)

This is a small brew pub, but well worth the stop. This is a perfect example of what the brewpub craze is all about in Portland Oregon. Good food and excellent beer. Try the sampler of beer and then pick your favorite. IPA award winner.

Friend visit on a balmy summer night in Portland Great comfortable outdoor space We brought the dog and everyone was cool about it Good sour beer and delicious chicken sandwich Good balance and not huge portions like the mega chains Friends said their food and beer was delicious Great atmosphere outside Cool decor Best was the server Whitney friendly efficient Give her a raise ! :)

Great award winning IPA that is a must have. Location can be a little difficult to find on first try due to it being in a business park with multiple driveways and an adjacent one way roadway. It's worth the trip. Great employees and different varieties of beer. At this writing they do not serve food but welcome food brought in from local restaurants. Bring or purchase a growler for great beer to go. They also have 22oz bottles of select beers for sale as well. No children allowed. Well behaved leashed dogs seem welcomed and the few times I've seen dogs inside they seemed to enjoy the experience as well. Cheers!

We had planned on a different location but traffic on the freeway drove us off the path. We had both enjoyed Breakside in the past. Always unusual beers choices and food is nice. Service was great. Lots of infants and kids on premises.

Laid back with choice of about ten micro brews, about six or seven IPAs, and a full bar. Good food, inexpensive to moderate prices. Sports watching at the bar with big TVs and plenty of table space for families. All in all, a good inexpensive place to hang.

Lively spot on a n a hot summer day. Liked the west coast IPA, Helles lager fine. But the real treat was a bottle of Cute Metal taken from the frig near the front door - beatutiful imperial stout, rich with taste notes of chocolate. Food (burgers and bavarian pretzel) was good.

Been here several times and always like the beer and atmosphere... I think it has everything you need for a good afternoon or evening. Need creativity with food menus

We had to check out breakside on our Portland beer tour, one of our favourites! The beers had interesting profiles, very tasty. We sat at the bar, the bartender was super chill, helpful and added to the overall experience of the place. We tried the fish tacos, my partner loved them, I found the fish itself a bit bland. We also had the omnivore mac and cheese. I was worried that it would be overwhelmed with stuff as it had veggies and meat as we couldn't decide between the two. It had just the perfect amount of crisp veggies and flavourful meat with an abundance of ooey gooey cheese sauce and a crispy topping! Would come back just for that, plus the service and beer, superb!

The beer is great and the food is above that of typical bar fare. Not a lot to choose from, but quality is good. Service is great too. Excited that they are opening another in NW.

Each had a a couple of beers & bought 2 speciality bottles to go. Food looked good, but we didn't order any. Brewery was nice. It was cold when we went but it looks like when the weather is nice they open the garage door windows for alfresco dining.

M'lady and I caught the #8 bus up to N. Dekum in order to try Breakside because the Breakside IPA is my favorite at another Ale House. I had no idea they had three (AWESOME) IPAs, and a slew of other great beers made in house. As a Portlander, you can imagine how stoked I was to see their beer list. It was vast, and even the kinda funky (Read: whisky barrel aged) beers were delicious... as well as wicked potent! (It's OK, we caught the bus! If you can't hang, use an Uber or DD) Their food was great too! The staff was friendly to new folks and almost familial with regulars. It was another great local brewpub that causes one to consider moving to a different neighborhood.

I went here at about 6 pm on a Friday and it was insanely packed, dogs, families couples, you name it. I came back an hour or so later and was able to get seating at the top of the restaurant. Our waitress did not linger but was very helpful. I think the best beer they have is the Breakside IPA, but I also tried their cherry hard cider. The food is good, I got a pulled pork sandwich and the potions were large. Overall a really great place to come.

Our friends took us to this restaurant in Portland and it was a great place to eat! The staff was super helpful. We sat in the outside dining area because we brought a dog. The food was wonderful. Drink selection was good. The place is very popular and right across a park so you can order takeout if there are no tables open.

My husband and I went here right after arriving in Portland. We split a Cubano sandwich and a flight of beers. The food was great- extra crispy waffle fries!!! The beer I chose was super good (safe word triple IPA) but I was not super impressed by the other selection of beers. But great prices, great vibes, great service!

We had a long day of wine tasting and found we needed a beer at the end. Our tour guide suggested Breakside so off we went. The beer was certainly yummy and the food was unique but tasty. We shared the chicken wings, which are not the standard that you are used to as they are literal chicken wings, and jalapeno poppers, again different as they were stuffed with filling in a chili boat. I think we would only return for the beer and save the food for a different place.

A fun place to hang out, and friendly to kids and dogs. The 3 of us who got burgers all loved them; the mac and cheese and Reuben were also wonderful. Good kids menu.

This is one of my very favorite places, and one of the things I miss most from living in Portland. Breakside has some of the best and most unique beer in town, and the Kobe burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had, try it!

Choosing which brew pub to visit in Portland is not easy...there are so many! We settled on Breakside because the menu looked good and it was close to the Moda Center, where we were headed after lunch. First, Breakside had some of the best beers I've had in a while. I tried three different pints and all were excellent (an IPA, a smokey beer stood out). The buffalo chicken wrap was tasty and well prepared. The salad on the side was crisp and fresh. All of our food was really good. The service was outstanding...and it really makes a difference when a server is friendly. You could tell people liked working there.

Okay, its a brew pub so it won't get 5 stars and the ahi tuna sandwich I had was not great. But I have eaten here multiple times. the Cubano and blackened chicken sandwiches are great along with the waffle fries (a 4, but could be a five if they were a little thinner). This place serves and makes one of the best IPA's in town. If Firehouse across the way is booked (as it often is) then walk across the street to Breakside for a great meal. Also, the service at this place it so welcoming and friendly, you can't go wrong.

We stopped by Breakside for a late afternoon beer and ended up having dinner there. The inside has a great feel to it and the outside eating area was fun. The Pilsner and pale ales were very tasty if you are looking for a lighter beer!

We love the staff but they now have changed the menu with a different company doing the food and it is awful . We fill bad because we love the bartenders and have been going there forever. But we won’t be back unless they change the menu?

We chose this place while visiting Portland as it was advertised as dog-friendly. I would highly recommend bringing your pooch along with you - they are very welcome in the outdoor seating area, which is comfortable and vibrant. There are water bowls around for your canine friend as well! We each tasted multiple beers and were very impressed with what they had to offer. Food was great as well - tasted very fresh! All around a great experience, and if we are ever in the area again we will certainly make another visit.

The staff was busy yet attentive, the food was unbelievable, and beer was delicious! So happy we came here!!!

I liked the atmosphere for dinner and both the food and beer were tasty and reasonably priced. We went on a Friday evening and had a long wait which was extra long because of the restaurant's seating policy. We were a group of 3 and the host choose to seat many parties of 2 who were after us on the list instead of consolidating tables and seating us. Once I complained a manager ensured we were promptly seated.

I was working nearby and my colleague brought me there. Plenty of beers to taste together with cheese!

My husband is a bit of a beer connoisseur. He would hate that I said that :) We loved the IPA and the cool atmosphere. Visited in the summer so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Had to get a few bottles to fly home with us!

Took my wife to Breakside as they have award winning beers. The menu has a lot of pricy items but my wife was not satisfied with the food. We did fries and nachos so I'm not sure we should judge their food based on that. Nachos were burnt along sides and kind of soggy in the interior. Would probably skip them in the future. You cannot go wrong with the beer, location and atmosphere. The open door design and good outside seating makes this place a must visit. There are 3 other places within the block worth exploring. Cannot wait to come back to Dekum street and come back for a beer.

Quite good local brewery, drinkable IPA with mixed east and west coast style. However their food selections is only okay, portion is on the small side.

Me and my friend were visiting this place as it is our neighborhood pub but the way the server was acting and bringing the bill with out our request was inappropriate also after we told her we didn't ask and we are gone stay she didn't want to see us but leave. We were also ordering a food to go with our drink and food we ate but we have to stay there to get our food for over 20 minutes. We thought it is a friendly place but it is not,
great beers and service
Stopped here one night for beers. Had some awesome stouts and imperial stouts here. Bartender very friendly, gave us samples and talked alot about the brewery. Wasnt too busy as we came around the last hour they were open. Reasonably prices and great beer choices. Would recommend when in the area.
