Great Little Restaurant

By Patrick E |

We were looking for a place to eat and had just hopped off the Big Bus. Was looking at there outside menu looking for the kids menu when one of the staff who was working the outside tables brought one to us. We decided to go in and we are glad we did because they had the Best Philly Cheese Steak we had eaten. They have a Great kids menu and a great selection of local brew beers. The prices are Great and it was a nice place to relax and have lunch! The staff there was extremely friendly, we will definatly go back when in Philly!

Good value and nice atmosphere

By Jackie S |

Good service from Kevin our waiter and nice choice of beers. Not a large menu and they didn't have our first choice, but the fish was excellent and well presented. We liked it and would eat here again.

Great atmosphere

Best meatloaf in America!!

By Ckethley |

This place is in an awesome neighborhood full of charm. The waitress and other staff were super helpful and made incredible recommendations. One guy at the table ordered a combination of three different dishes and absolutely loved it. Four people at the table ordered the meatloaf with collard greens and there wasn't anything left on the plates. We are everything they put in front of us it was so good. We will be back for sure.

Yummy turkey burger for brunch.

Take an outdoor table and think Europe

By njdadddy |

There is a bus stop right at the restaurant's door (#40). I visited at lunchtime and sat outside. The waiter was friendly and the ambience was like an outdoor cafe some where in Europe. I ordered the Caesar salad with crispy chicken added. The restaurant makes its own Caesar dressing. It had a hint of anchovy but too much lemon juice. I would have preferred more anchovy. My partner had the duck tacos which were quite tasty. Their chicken wings were coated with a honey based sauce and served with a blue cheese dip. Tasty. Would I return. Yes. I enjoyed the people watching opportunity at this spot.

Great Lunch for Families!!!

By RaisingZ |

We had such a great meal at Bridget Foys! The kids menu was extensive and the kids enjoyed coloring and playing with the view finders. We sat outside, which was so nice and had a very friendly server. Our food was really good and the prices were quite affordable. We would highly recommend this restaurant to families visiting Philadelphia, we jumped off the Big Bus Tour and had a great meal!

I love the daily specials to give some variety for one who is a frequent visitor. And the breakfasts are great!

Great Find As I Wandered Around South Street Area

By LinGal2001 |

Great beer, great food, great service. I had a lamb sausage and chick pea stew off their specials menu and it was delicious. Perfect Fall meal with a glass of beer. Comfortable place. Friendly service staff.

Casual spot with GREAT service!

By Rhi21 |

I came into Philadelphia for a quick weekend trip (Taylor Swift concert-TS) and selected the restaurant based mainly on the proximity to the TS mural. I was slightly worried about the mix reviews but am SO happy we dined here. The service was GREAT (thanks for the warm welcome by Mother and Emily was an awesome server). I was joined by family visiting from Canada. We all enjoyed the delicious food, speciality cocktails, and service. It was exactly what we needed.

A nice dinner!

By Susan B |

First time visiting this long standing restaurant on South Street. Daughter and I stopped in before a show and were seated and greeted promptly. The place was bustling but our server was very attentive the entire meal. Food was good...flatbread appetizer, harvest salad....and you MUST try the mac and cheese! Because we had some time we splurged on a warm baked chocolate ship cookie and weren't disappointed. Reasonably priced, good atmosphere...excellent service, We'll be back.

Awesome!!!

By Leha C |

We visited philly for the day and was looking for place where we can enjoy a dinner! Bridget Foys was perfect, and what we needed. Food was really good (especially the chocolate chip cookie 😍😍😍). Service so nice, good music and atmosphere!

Quaint Little Restaraunt

By MagicMan527 |

Quaint Little Restaurant tucked away on the end of South Street. The food was delicious and the wait staff were very friendly and helpful.

Pickle goodness

By Phillippe |

Stopped for a quick bite during our hop on/hop off bus tour (stop 22) and this place was right there. Good eats, good price. Had a salad, deviled eggs and the fried pickles. Everything was very good and the service was quick and friendly. Definitely recommend the fried pickles. A good South Street find and worth the stop. We sat outside and it was a great people watching spot as well.

Great Restaurant On South Street

By Mike4TraveI |

I have been here a few times and every time it has been good. Casual atmosphere with good service and the food is pretty good as well. In the warmer weather you can eat outdoors and people watch. I would feel comfortable ordering anything on the menu. You won't go wrong.

Nice place to sit and relax and take in the fresh air.

By 333Abby |

We started our day out here after walking from the Hotel Monaco. They were still serving brunch but we chose the lunch menu. Mushroom flatbread, deviled eggs , coconut vegatable stir fry and mojitos. All were very good. A bit pricey as the bill came to 90.00 after tip( One mojitos each) The staff was overly helpful, they continuously interrupted our conversation. It took my daughter a while to finish telling me that I was finally going to have a son in law.

New spin on calamari

By JackFlynn |

Our calamari came with a cream type sauce and chopped tomatoes instead of the usual red sauce. I've had calamari in many of New York's most popular Italian restaurants and have never seen it served with anything but red sauce. We loved it. Our crab cakes were good too. Service was fast, the beer selection pretty good, nice atmosphere inside and out. We will definitely go back our next trip to Philly.

Sit outside and do some car/ people watching

By Veni-vidi-vicidotcom |

We were there in July and got a fireworks show to watch. The food was very good and they had a full bar with many tap beers. It is at a corner, so fun to watch cars such as the Ferrari and Ducati that went

Good menu. Good food.

By HJHM |

Bridget Foys has a good menu and good service. Plenty of craft beers and specialty cocktails and delicious desserts. The area around the restaurant is very walkable but would say it's most appropriate for adults.

Discriminated and abused by staff and manager.

By Christina Z |

4 reviews 1.0 star rating 9/22/2017 Tonight I was a victim of BLUNT DISCRIMINATION, SINGLING OUT, and abuse by this place's MANAGER, who approached me in a middle of dinner and told me to leave the place due to 1 hateful customer who was unhappy that my bichon barked once ( we were sitting outside ). Mind you, the place calls itself dog friendly. Next to my table, there were another dog, but nobody said anything to them, while I was singled out in very humiliating way. I have never experienced mistreatment and abuse on such profound and ugly level as by the management of this place.

Very nice place. Great eatery with pub atmosphere

By Laserza |

Very good food. Nice combination of flavors. Good value as well. Lamb meatballs over cous cous is a bomb!

Very good food and big portions

By valeria_vally |

I took a Brie & Apple burger and it was delicious. Pretty heavy, but good. The beer selections they have is pretty large and cocktails are also good. We were seating outside, and I have to say that the traffic of the interesction the restaurant faces to, was very loud and bothering during our dinner.

Love this place!

By Kissfan71 |

Although we just stopped in for cocktails, I would highly recommend checking this place out. The cocktails are amazing, fresh and creative ingredients. and their menus are really exciting!!

Good Dinner

By ChrisBSU |

we had Christmas dinner here, and other than their running out of a few dishes, the overall experience was very good. Food was delicious, service was good.

Fun place fun food

By 5star1621 |

Great service. Great dishes with imagination. I ordered a short rib sandwich with pickeled veggies and sirachi sauce, yum! Decent wine selection at a reasonable price. Decorating is really fun. Must be some history to it, but haven't looked into.

Birthday Party "Delicious"

By MichelleKay552 |

My daughter chose Bridget Foys for her birthday, and I was expecting great things. I wasn't let down! The bar was hopping already at 11 am on a Sunday, an Irish band played live music softly. I had a Bloody Mary to start and it was absolutely perfect. A large stalk of celery and a dash of celery seeds really took this drink to a better place. We had a party of seven, and we were seated promptly at noon. All the food was prepared perfectly. The veggie burger was mouth watering. Eggs Benedict was served with oversized eggs, and lovely traditional hollandaise. The service was very good, accommodating us. It was a bit cramped but it is the city. BF's is on famed South Street. It was noisy too but it's again expected given the location. Would go again!

Sunday brunch is actually better (and cheaper) than weekday lunch

By SteveinPhilly |

We hadn't been to BFs on a weekend in a while and went for Sunday Brunch. The steak and eggs was great and actually cheaper than weekday lunch. This was our best meal there all year.

Landmark On South Street

By PhillyShaney |

I have been to Bridget Foy's many times over the years. It is a consistently good restaurant with a good location. Me and my dining buddy for the evening decided to hang around Penn's Landing and we got hungry and after walking around a few places in the Head House Square vicinity, we decided on Bridget Foy's. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the weather . We spilt a few appetizers (fish tacos) and had drinks as well. Bridget's has an average menu and the drinks are tasty, so that made our experience average. When I think of my other visits - it's never over the top good, but it's satisfying. I want to mention the service is always pleasant and attentive. I recommend Bridget's if you are in the are, nice location if you are dining outdoors - great people watching.

Versitile Eats

By cic4cia |

I've been here in the past with a group of friends and this past time I came with my family (including 2 little ones). The menu has something for everyone. It's a great place for drinks and a fancy meal or a casual outing.

By chance...

By Ani Jones |

We found this place by chance, and so glad we did. Stayed in Philly over Easter weekend. We were walking around and decided to have dinner. We were seated immediately, as the dinner rush had not hit yet. My daughter ordered a pizza off the kids menu, we ordered wings appetizer, my husband had a burger, and I had steak frites. The wings were amazing. The sauce was spicy, but not over the top. I'm not one for heat, but I could practically lick the plate. The meat fell off the bone. My husband's burger was delicious. It was slightly overcooked (he ordered a medium rare), however he still loved it. My steak was slightly underdone, but was still great! My daughter ate a little more than half, of her personal pizza, and hubby and I finished it (it was yummy too). No complaints about this place. Service was great, food was good, and we were able to get in and out- no hassle. Will definitely be back!

A COMFORTABLE GOOD PLACE TO EAT!!

By pamlamb |

After many days of holiday overeating, it was a pleasure to walk down the street from my daughter's home and eat a light meal. The servers are friendly and attentive, the food is good. I had a tasty pistachio goat cheese beet salad and my companion had a hamburger and fries. We chose to eat early so the restaurant was not too crowded. it's always interesting to eat here and watch the interesting characters who walk past on South Street. This was a perfect ending to our Xmas visit o Philly.

Restaurant Week in Philly!

By Cruzinbabe |

Hubby and I were out enjoying South Street and stumbled upon this restaurant. We didn't know it was Restaurant Week and the set menu for $35 per person looked appealing. Glad we sat inside even though there was outside seating. Very romantic with candles on the tables. Our waitress was the best. Very attentive and always coming over to see if we are enjoying our food. The set menu includes a glass of wine. We had about 5 to 6 choices. We chose a Red Sangria. Very good with fruit in it. It sneaks up on you. The waitress said it was made with Brandy. We chose our appetizers, Cheesesteak Croquets and Lobster wraps. We also ordered a side of deviled eggs. Delicious! 5 to 6 choices for Main course. I had Crabcakes. Hubby had Filet Mignon. Beautiful presentation and both dishes very tasty. We also ordered an order of fries to share. They came beautifully presented with 2 dipping sauces. Dessert was 3 choices. I had warm Apple pie with a crumbled topping with vanilla ice cream. Hubby had Maple Pear cheesecake with ginger snap crust. Very good! We will definitely return and do recommend this restaurant.

Great spot along South Street

By Elizabeth A |

This used to be our go to spot on date nights. It's located towards the end of South Street closer to the pier. So holding hands, people watching, having a beer or cocktail and on munching on a cheese plate were always in order. We always opted to sit outside, which was comfortable and lovely. This is a nice, classier place to hang out after walking down quirky South Street.

lunch with my famiky

By Omegalady |

the svc was pretty, the food was a bit greasy, the drinks was really good they even offered seating for my 7months grandson, the staff was very sweet

Delightfully Delicious!

By Etoile983 |

I was recently in Philadelphia for a conference, and headed to Bridget Foy's to spend a nice evening with girlfriends. We had great service, and wonderful food. I had the butternut squash stuffed raviolis with apple brandy sauce, pecans, and cranberries for dinner, and it was delicious. We also had crab cakes, and several other items which were all delicious. Nice atmosphere and great food!

Great Lunch Place

By Anita L |

We took shelter at Bridget Toy's when it started to rain and we were glad that by coincidence we had picked such a good place. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was very good. We tried our first Philly Cheesesteaks that were excellent. They used good quality meat and cheese (not the cheese whiz that others use). It is located right on South Street which also made it a good location to sit on their covered porch and watch the world go by. Eating here brightened our rainy day.

Friendly Service - Great Lunch

By D1_C5 |

Nice outdoor seating. Had the burger with bacon added and a side of ranch for the fries. Like other reviews said prolly the best burger I've had in sometime and the fries were really good too. Reasonable prices and if you are visiting close to main areas.

Owner and Staff were very rude!

By CM41823 |

We had a dinner party with about 30 people here, the owner and staff acted like it was an inconvenience to have us in their restaurant. Food was terrible, cold and soggy! Avoid, unless you like be treated awful and like your an inconvenience!

great spot on South Street

By livebro |

got off the Philly tour bus at 2nd & South, walked across the street and were welcomed to come in for some lunchtime refreshment. we loved the service and the fish & chips was delicious!! not excessively pricey for a trendy restaurant.

A Pleasant Gastro-Pub

By NeedPivo |

Overlooking busy Head House Square, Bridget Foy's is a pleasant restaurant/gastro pub that posseses a comfortable ambience and a unique menu well off the "pub grub" mainstream. I provide as an example, my lunch entree: roast turkey panini made with real roasted turkey accompanied by cranberry mayo and apple sage dressing nestled next to rugella (spelling?) salad. Tasty and healthy, too! Bridget Foys has an extensive wine list and a draught beer list consisting exclusively of local craft beer, such as Sly Fox, Victory and Philadelphia's own Yards. (As a traveling beerophile, I always make it a point to support local brewers.)

Great local spot

By Kirby S |

The food is great and nothing beats sitting on the deck and people watching. The fried chicken is my favorite. They always have a great selection of beer.

Always great and varied.

By ESJT |

We visit here frequently. The specials are always good. This trip the short rib pot pie - great thick rich dark brown sauce. And the bean soup - very nice.

Good Basic Pub Style Restaurant

By James S |

Located on South Street this restaurant has a good location for tourists and locals alike. It sits on the corner and in the summer has a large area of outside tables on the street, perfect for some good people watching. The inside is a bit dark with a typical pub feel to it. The staff was nice and friendly, although I wasn't sure who my main wait person was as every time somebody came to my table, it was a different person. The order was taken quickly and the food did arrive in a timely manner. I had fried pickles, that were okay. The breading did not hold well to the pickle and was a little messy. I then had a pasta with clams. That was actually pretty tasty, but I did the portion size to be rather small, I left still a bit hungry. The bar looks fun, lots of interesting bottles. This is a good place, maybe not one that I would seek out, but if I was in the area again I sure would pop in.

Not worth the $$ - but good service

By A_Miracle_Day |

We stopped in here because they had a sign for seafood outside, and our 6 y/o was needing lunch. We were blown away at the prices, when the place across the street was 1/2 the price. We'd chosen here because of the seafood, which they didn't have. We were quite disappointed. We ordered a drink and let the little one eat, I had the macaroni bite things, as an app and they were very good. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was nice, I found the prices to be a little high and we were already disappointed because the sign wasn't correct. I don't think I'd go back on purpose.

Great Neighborhood Spot

By Kirby S |

The food is always good and changing although the favorites are always there. Nothing beats the burgers and bar food but the specials are awesome. This is a great place for a date, a client/coworker/ or to just unwind when it gets later. The folks behind the bar make great drinks and you shouldn't miss sitting at the bar and checking out the concoctions.

Don't waste a South Street dining opportunity on Bridget Foy's.

By HoosThat |

Bridget Foy's was recommended to us by our hotel concierge as a good destination for a nice dinner for adults and children. It was terrible for children and just average for adult food and drink. The waiter was distracted and extremely slow. He spilled my daughters water and then took the glass and never replaced it, despite multiple requests to do so. He advised that the appetizer wings were not too spicy for a ten year old. They were in fact quiet marinated and basted in a hot chipotle sauce -- inedible for a kid that tolerates mildly spicey food. The chicken with sun dried tomatoes in a Parmesan cream sauce was average. The sauce was a bit glutenous and the dish was very heavy. The wine list was extremely limited. They need consultation from a good sommelier and some more interesting varietals to make the menu and overall dining experience more enjoyable. The location and enormous open windows and outside dining were wonderful. Probably best to enjoy a drink here and continue up South Street for better food and wine.

Awesome salad and dessert!

By thecheriwest |

I dined at BFs alone out on the porch while my daughter was at a concert. The salad I had was one of the BEST I've ever eaten: had a whole mini wheel of goat cheese, toasted pistachios, beets, homemade dressing-- fantastic! The dessert I ordered was quite unique and so good I ordered another to go so my daughter could taste it: I forget the name but it had a layer of vanilla pudding, crushed oreos, and fresh whipped cream with a layer of salted caramel. To. die. for. Excellent beer menu as well.

Nice Burger in an interesting area

By MaverickViper |

Visited the Historic area of Philadelphia with colleagues and stumbled upon Foys. Great location, with the ability to sit inside, or out. A nice relaxed atmosphere with good beer options and a great burger. Overall, enjoyed my visit.

Not what she used to be.

By WilmaRichmond |

I went here a couple weeks ago and had bad service and bad food. It use to be a nice place where you could get a nice meal. But I found it dirty, expensive and not very good. I will not go back there. The service was terrible. Don't waste your money or your time.

Mediocre

By Wawafont |

My husband and I always pass by and say we are going to try it one day. We finally did. We were not very impressed. We ordered the buffalo wings. They were good, but way too spicy. I couldn't eat the breading. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich. It was a huge disappointment. It was small and the roll was crap. It was on a potato roll that you can buy from the supermarket. The fries that came with it were terrible. My husband enjoyed his crab fra diavolo. We will not rush back.

Laid back spot with delicious food

By Jennifer M |

I enjoy coming to this restaurant for two reasons. 1- the food is always delicious and 2- it's so laid back. While it is on South Street it's down at the quieter, less cramped end and is just so enjoyable. They have the best fries I've ever had and their dipping sauces are amazing. Their drinks are always on point and the food, well I've never had a bad meal here. The staff is always super friendly and they always make you feel welcome. It is only a few blocks from Penn's Landing so I always take a stroll down there after leaving.

Thanksgiving Private Party was AWESOME!

By BigMikeFoodie |

We hosted 45 people for a family Thanksgiving recently. The planning, service, food and professionalism was AWESOME. Bridget herself set up the party as well as personally checked in and inquired after the event that we were happy with Everything. The space provided on the top floor was fabulous for our large party; separate bar area and great space for the buffet dinner. Our thanksgiving feast was wonderful and the desserts received huge raves. Service was friendly, personable and eager to please. Thanks to the team at Bridget Foy's for a memorable holiday feast for friends and family. Host your next private party and you will be pleased!

It wouldn't be hard to give it a better rating, if ...

By Koho26 |

My wife went with a group of friends last Saturday night. They had reservations for 8:30. They showed up on time and had a very long wait. The hostess tried to talk them into sitting outside, but based on the weather that really wasn't an option as they weren't dressed for it. Finally the hostess told them the party that was at what would be their table just wasn't leaving! I understand that happens, but I don't think that is an excuse to pass on the the waiting party. Finally they put a couple of other tables together and they were seated - not sure why they didn't do that much sooner. The hostess told my wife that they would make it up to them - either comp their drinks or desserts. The meal was very good - one person thought the calamari was the best she had. The waitress was very good also, but it looks like the communication from the hostess to the waitress regarding comping drinks or desserts never happened. My wife was treating everyone so she didn't want to make an issue about it and wasn't in a position to discreetly talk to the waitress, but really there is no excuse for that. 4 stars (food and service) and 1 star (hostess and seating process) = 3 stars (yes, I'm being generous in my weighting).

Vibrant restaurant excellent food

By 140790 |

Really enjoyed an informal meal here. Brilliant waitress who even helped me by picking my meal for me as I could not decide x

Great Customer Service & Awesome Hard Rootbeer

By CameronAvant |

Visited the restaurant for the first time around 10 PM and was very satisfied with the meal, service and drinks. During my visit, I ordered a hard root beer and really enjoyed that. The restaurant can be romantic if you sit in a back area. No complaints and will return for another meal. Parking will always be difficult (after 10 PM you can park for free across the street) in this busy area, especially during the summer months.

This is one of "our go places"

By ESJT |

Bridget Foy's food is consistently very good. A quiet atmosphere, comfortable environment, great and friendly staff. Their specials are clever and tasty. Good place to visit.

Great Service

By Kyle K |

Enjoyed our stop at Bridget Foy's. Took some clients out to dinner and were very pleased with the food (especially the dessert) and the great service. Try the meatloaf!

Get the crispy chicken sandwich and handcut fries

By JPVenezia |

Visited by accident this week on a trip to Childrens Hospital in Philadelphia. Decided to take the kids down South Street to show them what it looked like. We decided to ditch the car and walked up to this place. We arrived at about 2:30 and noticed the hostess sitting eating her lunch at the front of the restaurant. She seated us and we were immediately greeted by our server. Very knowledgeable and clear, knew about the menu. It isn't a huge lunch menu but just enough. Inside is very nice, lots of art. I don't know what this place specializes in or what their signature dish is. Looks just like any other bar in Philadelphia. Noticed that the front windows open up to have open air dining, which is cool. There are also seats and tables out front near the street, that would be fun on a weekend I would imagine. Overall, not bad. Not over the top good, but very clean and our food was hot. You really can't ask for much more than that.

Good place for breakfast

By Tha_Bearded_1 |

I walked to this spot and had breakfast at this restaurant. I had the steak and eggs with potatoes. It was very good and the steak was like a skirt steak, pretty thin but had good flavor. The service was very good and I would like to try the brunch one day.

Birthday Celebration

By Laureen G |

We started w the cheese meat platter very good just wish it had more bread. I had crab linguine great mac n cheese was amazing. Burgers were good fries great flat breads were great too. No one at the table wanted to share bc it was so good. Save room for desserts. Even my allergy kid had choices. The mud cake was amazing. I don't think you could have had a bad meal here. We were able to be outside too. It was cool.

Probably won't go back

By Travels101 |

Weird menu. Some strange food combinations. Stuck with a chicken sandwich. Was supposed to be on a ciabatta roll but was more like a panini. Flavor was ok. Sandwiches and burgers reasonably priced but the wine and beer was relatively outrageous. Service was very attentive. Atmosphere was nice. Probably will not go back.

Great

By Jessica C |

Absolutely delicious food! It was a great cozy atmosphere, the decor was nice, and the service was so incredible. Will return!

Nice Restaurant - Good Location

By Bill B |

Located on South Street St 2nd. We had lunch here a few times. The food is very good and the portions are large. Service is great with a very friendly staff. Nice bar. Plenty of meter parking right across the street

Great happy hour leading to dinner

By Ellen R |

Met some friends for happy hour during the week, and we were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices and varied menu. Wait staff is friendly and welcoming. We stayed for dinner and the menu was quite varied, offering sandwiches as well as entrees, and a variety of appetizers. Very enjoyable. Also offers outside seating for nicer weather.

Thursday night dinner - excellent.

By ESJT |

The "specials" included pumpkin gnocchi. OK, the looked more like small ravioli, not gnocchi. That being said, the gnocchi/ravioli served with risotto, thinly sliced pears, walnuts and sour cherries with a small amount of brown sauce, cooked just right, was SPECTACULAR. Serving size was also just right, that left room for dessert which no matter the choice is good. That was a fin meal, if not the finest we've had there. We asked that the gnocchi/ravioli stay on the menus for a long time, this meal was that good.

Convenient for Bus Tours

By Hockeyboy |

In the Old Town very handy for the Bus Tour. We sat outside and watched the world go by. Good choice of beer and food was fine. We felt like we were well looked after. Owner was around and about so always going to be ok.

Fantastic, best meal out in a long time!

By Ed K |

I truly don't know where into start. Prices reasonable for the city, portions perfect. Cocktails well balanced. We enjoyed the scallops and grits as well as sharable plates of fish tacos and deviled eggs. Nice kids menu too! And the desserts! Everything is made in-house. We shared a Smores sundae and their mud pie. Our waiter Kevin was attentive and pleasant. Only thing they could improve is that I had to ask twice for my cocktail to be brought. Everyone is entitled to a slip up, so was not a problem in my mind.

Amazing burgers

By Mark N |

The burgers are amazing. Beers are available in all sorts and flavours and the staff is polite and helpful. This can't be any better for a diner.

Bartender Stacy was horribly miserable the entire time

By Neveah99 |

Would never return to this restaurant again. Horrible customer service. Disgraceful The bartender/manager Stacy was extremely miserable slamming glasses the entire meal. It was as though she could care less about any customer at the bar. It's employees like this who put places out of business

Overpriced and not good

By Ann G |

Would not recommend this place or ever go back. The prices are ridiculous for average food. The food was a step up from a diners food.

Gem on Headhouse Square

By meimmer |

I went in for St. Patrick’s day and tried their Guinness Stew special which was really good. I got a side of fries too and they were delicious. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Their new space is bright and very tastefully decorated. I love the custom wallpaper they have in their bathrooms and their brand etched into their water bottles they provide to the table.

Great service and fabulous food

By rootedlotus |

My boyfriend and I went here for the first time a month ago and it was great! Traditional food with their own unique spin on them. I would definitely go here again!

Nice brunch with good service

By Kathleen F |

Ducked in here to get out of the rain - had a very nice brunch with unusual options

Visiting the city.

By Leaner65 |

This place is on South Street in Philly. The front is the bar which is small and tight but very welcoming. There is a dining room and what looked like seating upstairs. We ate in the bar area. Our waitress was very nice and came over as soon as we were seated, We had the red velvet donuts as an app which were very good. We each had something different for lunch and we passed them all around to taste. The food is very good but pricey. $72 before tip for 4 people with no drinks.

Horrible customer service

By srempson |

One hostess told us our party of 7 would be seated in 10-15 minutes. Then, 15 minutes later another hostess told us they were too busy to accommodate a large party and couldn't guarantee we'd get food. I've never experienced such terrible customer service.

A relaxing place for lunch

By Wagoneer |

We visited Bridget Foy's restaurant recently. The restaurant is very conveniently located at South and 2nd Streets. On nice days it offers both inside and outside dining. We chose to dine inside. The menu is somewhat limited, but there is something for everyone. We ordered the burger, and found it was excellent. It came with fries, and was so large it required eating with a knife and fork. No one went away hungry. The restaurant has a reasonably good beer menu, but the prices were a bit high, so we had water with lemon to drink. The staff were friendly, attentive and the food was served quickly. I would also like to add that we had dined here before, and on that occasion my young son accidentally spilled his drink. He was very upset and felt bad...but the staff went out of their way to make him feel better and cheer him up...They took the extra step when they did not need to, and it was greatly appreciated! The restaurant is somewhat small, but the décor is bright and feature large painted modernesque canvasses...portraits and monkeys with martinis. Bright and entertaining. A little more room would be nice, but given the size of the facility, they give you as much room as possible. Considering the location, the costs are not outrageous. You can get a meal for a reasonable price.

Mother's Day Dinner - fab!

By FamilyGuy_from_NJ |

This past Sunday, Mother's Day, we had Brunch at Brdget Foy's prior to going to hear the wonderful Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra at the Kimmel. A good time was had by all -- especially if you love Beethoven's 5th (and who doesn't?), but that's for another review. We sat at a table both inside and outside so we felt we were seated out in the street. The view of South Street here is pleasant and there were plenty of families treating Mom to a day on the town. I had been to Foy's once before for dessert but not for a proper meal. It was fine! The menu was a bit limited because it was brunch AND a holiday but everyone had delicious food. I would tell you what we ate, but after the delicious bloody Mary I had prior to the meal I couldn't remember my name. Oh yeah, I'm the family guy from NJ. My wife had delicious blueberry pancakes. I had a vegetable omelette and the boys had -- well, I honestly can't recall. But they liked it and cleaned their plates. The coffee was tasty. Oh, yes - we started with the calamari appetizer which was different than most I've had (a pleasant crunch corn based coating I think). All in all - a duly pleasant meal with great, attentive service. We will be back. And you know what to do if you go: tell them the Family Guy from NJ sent us!

We're havin' a party at Bridget Foy's!

By cootmom |

We had a fantastic memorial lunch for twenty here! We did a buffet in a spacious and comfortable private upstairs room with salmon, jambalaya, grilled veggies, sesame noodles, and a delicious salad. Everyone loved the food and clamored for seconds, especially on the salmon. We had a cash bar and Bridget's provided soft drinks and coffee. We brought in our own dessert. Despite the fact that it was a buffet, we were offered containers for all the leftovers. We used the large screen TV to show a slide show. Our server Allison could not have been nicer. The neighborhood is fantastic, funky, lots going on. The restaurant is on a busy corner, yet all guests were able to find street parking, even during a beer festival going on across the street. Around the corner, a accordion studio brought all their students out to perform for passers-by. A truly magical afternoon!

A great spot for an out door dinner on a warm summer night..

By BobZ9 |

Totally enjoyable dinner ... Waiter very attentive .. Food on time and in proper order... 4 different meals.. All were good.. Especially my Lobster .. We sat outside on the street side.. Enjoyed the sights and Most sounds of the City.. A Good variety of food .. A Fun time was had by all.. Especially our walk on South Street...

Average food, at best, disgusting experience.

By Shamyune |

My husband and I went to BF's for Philly's Restauant Week. Somewhat disappointed at the quality of food for the price. Viewed it to be comparable to a meal at Applebees. The kicker came after our meal was finished, however. To our utter dismay, the bus boy wiped the floor with a rag as he dragged it with his foot, then used the same rag (now completely black from the floor dirt and the bottom of his shoe) to wipe the table next to us. Our mouths dropped open. When we reported this to our waitress, she simply asked him "you didn't rinse out the rag before you wiped the table?" How exactly rinsing out that dirty rag would have made that disgusting situation any better is beyond us. We'll never go back.

Way unprepared for the holiday crowds

By 1972Harry |

I went with 7 other family members for Christmas dinner. It was a total disappointment. We had reservations for 5pm( which one would think would be an early dinner). They were out of many of their dinner entrees. As the night went on you could hear the servers telling other tables they were out of almost everything. We ordered irish coffee for desert, and was told they were out of Bailey's Irish Creme. I was ready to scream by this point!!! It was crowded and loud and there were gnats or fruit flies flying around. I will never go back!

Great place to eat and people watch

Went on a Sunday before a show at the TLA and had just a great experience. The food was delicious all at the table said how great their food was. Excellent beer selection and very good service.

A fun place for dinner OR Sunday Brunch

By Ira S |

My wife and I have been coming here for years. The food and service is always consistent. In nice weather, eating outside and watching people go by is always fun. Upstairs is much quieter but if you young and like loud then downstairs is for you. If you're visiting the city, come here for a great breakfast the a late night drink.

A great neighborhood staple

By carrie518 |

Bridget Foy's is a great place to stop in and grab a bite/beer. They also have a really creative cocktail list, and their food is classic comfort American. What I loved most about it is how friendly the staff and patrons are. They all really know the area and make visiting Philadelphia an awesome experience.

Great service - food met my son's allergies

By Stren4fun |

We had a party of 12 people on a Saturday afternoon for my daughter's 21st birthday party. There was a major accident getting over the bridge from NJ and we were an hour late. They held our table no problem. Service was impeccable. The menu although small, everybody found something great to eat. They took care of my son's multiiple food allergies and they had plenty of selections from the wine/beer lists. We would go back again, Bridget Foy's really know how to treat their customers. thanks for a wonderful memory for my daughter's 21st birthday.

The most consistent restaurant in the city

By Ge0rgeP111 |

I have been going to this restaurant for over fifteen years. It has been consistent - in food quality, in service and in ambiance - for all of these years.

Great hamburger

We went the other night for dinner and the food and service could not have been better after a bad time at the chart house we had the hamburger and the new mac and cheese it was wonderful and made the evening.

A nice neighborhood restaurant

Recently got a new chef and they're trying to offer new items on their menu. Food is good but we miss some of the old items that were on the menu. The service people are always friendly and helpful. The atmosphere warm and inviting!

phillies best kept secret.

By Odongo H |

I had a very enjoyable experience and meal. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The wait staff was very courteous and knowledgable. They were very attentive to my needs and very friendly. The very tasty food came out in a timely fashion. I would recomendthis resturant to anyone and everyone. The Lamb Meatballs on cous-cous is great. The liquid ambrosia is to die for.. Ihad a very memorable time there. Looking forward to my next visit.

Great go to spot!

By NVP102 |

My husband and I have been coming here for 20 years. It is a great place to check out on South Street. In the summer, it is lovely to sit outside and people watch. The food is consistently good. It has become one of our sons' favorite places also. Not a huge menu, but the food is great, the service is always good and the location is ideal. Definitely worth checking out. Go for a stroll up South Street and enjoy the shops and the sights.

Brunch

When we went they were running a lobster roll for the most of the of August. A generous portion of lobster meat on a split roll with house made potato chips. Delicious and great value.

Always a favorite

By Neha B |

The food and service is great! We loved our server, who was really patient with our kids. She had a great personality! The host was also great.

Holy Wow!!!

By JandTLow |

This place is amazing! If you are ever in Philly please stop here for lunch! The prices are reasonable to high, and the food is amazing!! Make sure you order dessert! The service is great and the atmosphere is amazing!

Very good value

Had a wonderful meal. Excellent food and service. A very good value with nice ambience. Even managed to find parking!

Avoid

By GymGuy22 |

My girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try since we were already on south street. Bad choice! Service was sub par and food was awful. Worst place I've been in quite sometime . We will never return.

Always a favorite

By judibru |

The burgers are the best and the vegetarian burger is one of the best I've ever had. Beware of the fish tacos though... My husband always orders fish tacos whenever they are on the menu. Typically, there are 2-3 full "taco" size tortillas, but this serving was barely an appetizer. (It was our bad; we should have sent them back and requested something else.) The staff is always friendly and attentive, but not overly so. Bridget Foy's is usually busy, but I have never felt rushed. Great place for people watching while enjoying great food.

Great casual dining!

By Nitrox J |

We had a great casual dinner at Bridget Foys. The fried green beans were great. I enjoyed the East Philly Burger. It was nicely seasoned, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It was a great experience. The only negative part was the slow service from the waiter. It took forever to get drinks and even longer to get refills. The waiter rarely stopped by to check in. I had to interrupt him when walking past for service and the check.

Nice Seasonal Dinner

By PHLee7ca |

My wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere (about the only place happening on South Street on Saturday!) and the food at BF's! The restaurant was nicely decorated, private party on the 3rd floor and the bar area packed. We only had to wait 5 mins for our table so....of to a great start. The House Salad and Wedge Salads were fresh and tasty. We both ordered the special Braised Beef Rib Pot Pie for our entrees....they had to remake from scratch as they ran out....our server was great, he apologized and comp'd us a free appy while we waited an extra 10 mins. So we took the offer and ordered the Calamari...very good. The Rib Pot Pie was delicious, not exactly what we thought it would be but very good nonetheless. A generous piece of braised rib came on a bed of steamed spinach and topped with a puff pastry. We also shared an Apple Cobbler for dessert, very good and large portions. We washed everything down with a Belgian Fat Tire and Ginger Cider. Loved the Monkey painting's by Bridget. Service was very good and professional. We'll be back next time we're in Philly!!!

Good food and great drink

By dragonladyrvrr |

This was my 2nd visit here. I was here bout 3 weeks ago for lunch and cocktails and was very pleased with both the quality of the food and the excellant Bloody Mary's that they make. We had the tuna sandwich special and it well exceeded our expectation...it was awesome. I was drinking spicy bloody mary's and they were excellant. They use a vodka infused with Jalapinos ( I think that they make the infused vodka themsellves) and the taste is unbelievable. Probably the best bloody mary's I have ever had. The bartender/server was very pleasant and very attentive to us, definatly a place we will frequant more often.

Great choice

By waynomiller |

Great service, ambience and food selection. Not expensive and the food was delicious and satisfying. I highly recommend the Steak Frites.

Absolutely delicious food

By kyleracine |

We had the hummus and french fries for appetizers, and the hummus was the best I've ever had. Plus, the french fries came with some delicious dipping sauces. We then ate salads for dinner and they even managed to wow me on just a simple Caesar salad. I was very impressed. Sitting outside was nice for a summer night and to people watch. I would definitely go back here!

Always a Pleasure--but sit downstairs

By Caroline W |

I love heading to Bridget Foy's to meet someone for Lunch or Dinner. The food is consistent, with lovely seasonal specials. And a special gluten free menu for those who eat GF. Heads up for those ordering from the Gluten Free menu: The gluten free bun is substandard(even by GF standards), so you might be better off ordering without. Though it is nice they try to give you an option! The mac and cheese is worth a special shout out! Very creamy, and includes a potato chip crust(I know that doesn't sound great, but it's very decadent). Be careful if you're seated in the upstairs section. The bathrooms are located up there, and you feel every vibration from the stairs and people trekking to the bathroom. Both my experiences up there were also accompanied with the one or two other tables being filled with incredibly loud parties. So, if you can sit downstairs, the sound muffling is a little better, and you'll feel less disruption. If you become a frequent dinner, you earn points on each visit that can eventually be cashed in for credit on a meal. AND, you get email updates about specials(free wine on a Friday or Saturday night dinner month of November as long as you put vino in the comments section on your reservation, and spend at least $40).

Nice place for South St.

By aliph77 |

This is where me and my friends ended up going after out horror at Cafe Nola. Blessfully they were still open since it was about 10pm on a Sunday. The food is good, but not if your a seafood or vegetarian (at least not based on their restaurant week menu). In any event I was happy with my selection. My girlfriend didn't care for the salmon, but I think its more of a place for burgers, lamb and steak.

indoor or out doods it is a love nest

People that want to give a touch of happiness and a sweet treat for your other love interest.. happy food and drinks and a place that set the mood for young and old it is on south street and a walk a talk and you fall in love all over again and again get it on with food and drink and the walk what a great time to be had by alllll!!!!!!!

Amazing gluten free

By Caroline W |

There's a great gluten free menu here. Had a fantastic bunless burger(perfectly seasoned), and am looking forward to working my way through the menu options.

What happened to Bridget Foy's?

By Glenda W |

Went in here last Friday before a concert to grab dinner and a couple drinks before walking down to TLA. We waited more than 12 minutes for cocktails, and 25 minutes just for a wings appetizer. The wings were ok, but the celery and carrots looked like someone pulled them out of a pot of chicken stock. Soft, old, and colorless. Because our app took so long, we got our entrees only moments later. Less than enthused, felt like something was amiss here.

Consistently creative and very good

By ESJT |

The holiday menu is out now, the turkey pot pie was really good, the puff pastry very lite and good. On a cold night the three bean soup hit the spot. The rather unusual bread pudding just great. Service is always very good.

Not very group friendly

By delainey23 |

I attended a bridal shower this weekend and was very disappointed in the treatment of our group, as well as our hostesses. While waiting for the bride to arrive, the group was congregated at the bar - DRINKING. The owner kept chastising our hostesses to move the group as the door was being blocked. It is a very small bar. Further, when booking the party (for over 30 people), it was suggested that an upstairs room might work well for the group. it was disclosed that there would be another party on the third floor but that they could expect minimal disruption (ie the bathrooms were on our floor). What wasn't disclosed was that there was a musical performance with many members who needed to change into and out of costumes (so the traffic through our party was more than just normal bathroom use) and that they were playing drums! When I went down to inquire about the music (as our hostesses were in the middle of trying to play a shower game with our group), the manager said in a not so nice tone of voice "what do you want me to do about it? They're only playing for 15 minutes." A simple apology for not informing the hostesses in advance so that they could plan their shower games around the music and informing me that it was only going to be 15 minutes, would have been sufficient. Another manager did quickly go upstairs and shut the doort to their room which was much appreciated and did make a big difference. The food and other service was fine but customer service would go a long way...

Good Food Good Service as always

By michael l |

Having been coming here for many years and finally decided to do a review. This visit we were meeting family from out of town including a 7 year old. We were seated right away inside which was nice. Server was knowledgeable about beers and drinks and started us off right. Burgers good as usual. I had the roast chicken and others vegetable curry and the little one sure did enjoy her dessert. As I have said been here many times. Sit at bar and have drinks and apps or sit for dinner and its always been a pleasure and its on a good spot on South Street.

Not exactly straight forward...

By 3ljp |

We stopped in here for an app and some drinks and sat outside. We heard the waiter point out three omissions or errors on the current food menu to the people next to us and joked about how they should correct it because it's misleading. My wife and I ordered some beers and I confirmed with the waiter my selection from the drink menu. He brings me a different beer and says it replaced the one on the menu. It was similar so I was fine with it. The waiter was a nice guy but the service was slow so we never ordered the app. The check comes and the beers are $2 more each than the printed price on the menu. I pointed it out and the waiter fixed it. It just seems odd so many errors in favor of the restaurant in such a busy location. I question if it's intentional. How many times does it go unnoticed daily? My sense was the waiter felt awkward.

At the Corner

By Herstory_62 |

With artsy ambiance, great bar, friendly service, and excellent creative food in a bustling trendy neighborhood, this corner bistro is local Philly at its best: Along with a variety of local brews, try warm breaded cheese sticks, an apple salad with a choice of protein, or a grilled grouper sandwich with spicy fixings.

Cosy place with character and style

By Anna N |

This is a second time we've eaten at Bridget Foy's and both time we had enjoyed our food and the quirky atmosphere. The food is comforting, yet sophisticated. My daughter and I loved the rustic presentation of the pickled beets. My son (10) asked for the seconds of the chicken tenders, "best he ever tasted!" We all love their homemade blood orange soda. Our main courses were excellent as well. The service was very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Our waitress even helped us out with some directions and walked out with us to make sure we'll find our way.

One of our favorites while visiting Phillie

By DebPtwoe |

This is a great eatery. I don't agree with the other reviews that said it had bad service or food. We had a great waiter who paired wine and local beer with our food and the food was some of the best during our visit to Philadelphia. Who would think that a Caesar's salad could be so good but it was deliciously paired with a fantastic Philly cheese steak. It's true that this restaurant is great for people watching but you also know that it is a place that serves great food to locals. This makes it number one in my book. Oh, not dirty at all. Interesting artwork and decor.

Good service made the place -- OK for food

By colebrooke1964 |

We stopped here on a nice sunny afternoon for lunch - the servers were really friendly and attentive. The food was simple and nothing too fancy but average to good. We had wine which was OK but we spotted another table having sangria which looked great so we decided to have a jug - it was really tasty and perfect for a sunny day. As we were having so much fun the server brought us some free deserts too.

A rehearsal dinner beyond all expectations!

By mj92159 |

Our family hosted my son's wedding rehearsal dinner at Bridget Foy's, in their upstairs party room. The room was nicely sized for our party of 30, the food was delicious and in generous portions. Wait staff was attentive and even while performing their service, they seemed to be able to step back as not to intrude on our celebration. I wouldn't hesitate to host another special occasion at Bridget's!

Mediocre Restaurant

By larryderm |

There is a somewhat limiting selection of items on the menu. The martinis are served in what appears to be a champagne glass of sorts. The food at best is not memorable. The waitress was more interested in socializing than in tending to her tables. Not worth a second try, even though the place has been here for decades.

Philadephia Cheese Steaks & great walk after dinner

By Lisa H |

We really enjoyed our dinner here - we sat outside and enjoyed the sights. Great cheese steak sandwich for my husband and I enjoyed the shrimp pasta. Amazing New York cheesecake with jersey peach for dessert. We went for a walk after dinner along South Street and enjoyed people watching and seeing the sights.

So Glad this Was our Choice!

By Sally C |

They were great pushing tables together to accommodate our group of 8. The staff was so friendly. Many of us got their East Philly Burger- we all loved our meals. The Bloody Mary was delicious with the perfect amount of spice! We will be back!

Good food and atmosphere

By Madavery |

Very good food and interesting menu. Good atmosphere. Only issue was service was a little slow but not enough to stop me from going back.

Not bad

By cjg1950 |

Hi! I choose this place for brunch on recommendation of Gayot and because it fit the geographic requirements for the morning. While the brunch was OK, this is Philadelphia and it could have been fantastic. The food was really not any better than you would get in an average diner, and while the place does have a nice atmosphere, so do countless other joints (jawns?) in Philadelphia. I suggest they try harder.

A safe choice for lunch...

By Audrey J |

A safe choice for lunch or newly breakfast.

Great Brunch!

By Brian K |

Had an awesome time here for brunch. The owner helped seat a party of 7 without hesitation. Drinks were fantastic (Bloody Marys are must have) and the food was excellent! Even as the crowds came in later in the day, our service never lacked. Can’t wait to return.

Step Up your Brunch Game

By Cait |

Always looking for a superb brunch spot, hoping to stumble upon one - Bridget Foy's was not it. All of the menu items we ordered were extremely bland, especially the eggs. The location, however, is perfect. If they revamped their brunch menu and service, this would be a prime spot.

Lunch

By Christel B |

Recently sat outside on a sunny afternoon for lunch . There were 5 of us. Food was ok but a bit overpriced for what you got . I had the fish tacos and they were very small and came 3 to a portion but were tasty . Two members in our party had the crab macaroni and cheese and had very little crab and was very lacking in flavor . My nephew had a burger with bacon that was very undercooked . I might stop here for a beer and appetizer on a nice day but wouldn't do lunch again .

Like having a house full of friends.

By bornofajackel |

You are never alone whenyou enter Bridget Foy's. You cannot help but be happy and if you are hungary....that is even better. The place is run with love of the business and of their customers. They set the mark !

Afternoon Brunch with Friends a Winner!

By Bill H |

A short walk from Pine Street to Bridget Foy's was the perfect place for a group of 6 old friends for a midday brunch. Mimosa's and Bloody Mary's for all and a tasty South Street Skillet with plenty of hash, potatoes, and topped with a poached egg. Delicious... I ate every bite. We all did and will go back on our next trip to South Street - Philadelphia. Always very well done.

Friendly service

By Kristin N |

The service here was friendly and attentive. We ordered fish & chips and a salad. All of it was very well prepared. The bar area was packed, because they were having happy hour. Happy hour specials were not valid in the restaurant area.

After walking around old city decided to sit down and have lunch What a great place to eat and people watch with their outdoor porch seating area. Had the mac & cheese balls and wife had chicken salad. Good burger also Nice beer selection Good service Friendly staff

Always a great meal and great time at Bridget Foys

My family and I love this place! Awesome American comfort food with a creative flare. Best burgers in the area for sure and friendly service. This is undoubtedly the best little restaraunt on South Street.

It's solid bar food

By Jason T |

It's a bar. The food is good. The drinks are good but you shouldn't expect anything more than you would expect then you'd get eating at a South St Bar. It's sort of is what it is thing.

Quaint with Great Service

By AfricanVenus |

I guess anytime someone rates the service more higly than the food, that's a bit telling. I liked the restaurant, but it was my friend's choice for her birthday. I liked the inside (weird ceiling choice), but it was hard to take pictures w/ the lighting and mirrors because the reflection was nuts in my camera. Ok, here's the goods: Food: I ordered the Tomato Fennel soup, the Pot Stickers, and the House Market Burger. My soup was served fairly warm and not hot, but I notified them and it was heated quickly. Pot stickers were all right, but not a party in my mouth. It lacked seasoning. The soup was delish. We also ordered fries for an app w/ various dips. Dips were great, the fries were so-so. Much like boardwalk fries. The burger I ordered w/ a side avocado, but I got guacamole which was not what I wanted. Well, whatever, lol. The burger meat was strange in that it was gritty and had chewy pieces throughout. It came with fries. They used high end ingredients, but it just didn't come together for me. My friends ordered the mac and cheese, chicken pasta, and the veggie pasta dish and they seemed to like it. For dessert, we had a pumpkin cheesecake which was well received. Don't order the lemonade because it's quite harsh and bitter. Service: Our waitress was great. Very friendly and sweet. She even took many pictures for us and sang happy birthday for my friend. They served us our food quickly and anything that was a problem was dealt with. We had more than one waiter for our table, so it was nice and things got done quickly. Decor: Interesting artwork my friend said the restaurant's owner's mother did. It had great lighting and was decorated for the season. Very warm and electic at the same time.

Restaurant in Decline

By Frugal_Traveler_9 |

Bridget Foy's used to be a consistently good restaurant, popular with both locals and tourists to the Society Hill area. The quality of the food has declined markedly in the last year or so. My wife and I had a mediocre meal here six months ago, which we assumed was an anomaly. After a recent dinner, though, I think the quality issues are more fundamental. My fried chicken special was way over salted, with some pieces over cooked and others bloody. The only accompanying vegetable was a boiled green of some kind. Dessert was dry and tasteless. Service on the other hand is always courteous, attentive, and efficient.

Brunch

The good part of brunch was the beignets - a must order. The rest of brunch was pretty forgettable mainly because it was cold. Has outside seating. I know normally this place is good but we caught them on a bad day.

(CLOSED DUE TO FIRE OCT 24) 'twas a nice place for a casual lunch or a friendly dinner

By Scott_A_Drake |

the patio was delightful in the spring, summer and fall, but the building caught fire and now missing a wall; the facade is still standing, albeit smokey with char, the food was terrific and we'll sure miss the bar!

Great place wish I lived nearby

By Ray C |

We visited Philly for the day and ended up on South St. at dinner time. Luckily we decided to eat at Bridget Foy's and it was happy hour. $3 handcrafted beers, $5 martini's can't miss deal. The food wasn't fancy but it was very good. We had appies and meatloaf, burgers, and the best veggie burger anywhere. Try the homemade ice cream delicious. Loved the music playing and absolutely the best staff in Philly.

Excellent Burgers! Great Service

By conradstx |

While on the Margarita March on 4/25 organized by BEERATHON, I need to explicitly state that Bridget Foy's was not on the list of Bars, BUT was one of the best experiences of the day. While really crowded, they took care of us and every burger (9 people in total) was cooked perfectly! They even let us bring in our Margaritas from the last bar we visited...and brought us water to wash everything down. Needless to say we tipped them well.

Great place on South

By williammuldoon |

Used to frequent with the wife when we were dating, went back for the same dishes and found it to be pretty much the same, good eats!

Great find while walking the area

By Matt M |

After dinner at a nearby "fine" dining restaurant, we stumbled across this place while looking for dessert. Wish we had seen it earlier - the $35 prix fixe Valentine's Day dinner sounded amazing! Instead, we grabbed a couple local craft beers at the bar and had a special dessert - red velvet donuts. The donuts were just average but the beer was good and the vibe was fun. Would return!

No care or concern for poor service or wasted time

By tferro88 |

Ridiculous lack of attention - maybe the chef was on strike, no explanation provided whatsoever. Sat down and the restaurant was less than 25% full. Beautiful day to sit outside, great location and spot to people-watch as they headed toward the river on South to Penn's Landing. It took nearly 15 minutes to get a waitress to give us menus. Another 23 minutes went by before I finally snagged the hostess for an ETA on our order - which was as basic as could be. Nearly the whole menu is brunch items, with a couple of burger options. OK, give us two of your simplest burgers. There were seven or eight waitstaff but maybe no one to cook it. I said we'd take it to go if they could serve it up in three to five minutes. Nothing, no offer for a free drink, an appetizer, she was questioning my timekeeping. After 45 minutes plus we gave up. I can't remember the last time I had to leave a restaurant without being served my order. Figure maybe they mainly cater to tourists, not sure what the deal is here.

A very good experience

By Kathy40699 |

We arrived at Bridget Foy's after our confirmed dinner reservation at another local establishment was not honored. Truly, I was not in a good spirit after that experience as we had been in a celebratory mood due to my son's college graduation. However, my spirits quickly picked up after arriving at Bridget Foy's. We were warmly welcomed by staff and promptly seated. It was a warm evening and water glasses were quickly filled without asking. Our server, Brittany, was fantastic. Our drink orders found their way to the table quickly and then she reviewed the dinner specials. After a round of delicious appetizers, our dinners arrived. We had some small children with us and they loved their grilled cheese! I had the grouper special which was delicious. All were happy with their dinner selections, drinks, and desserts. Brittany didn't know it, but she really made our dinner/graduation celebration an enjoyable one!

Engagement Party

Anniversary Dinner

By Brandon R |

I stopped in for my anniversary dinner and I can't say enough good things about this place. After a long day at the zoo, mind you it was a very wet and chilly day, all I wanted was a warm meal and a stiff drink. That is exactly what I got. There wasn't a wait for my party of two and shortly after being seated our delightful waitress greeted us with a smile and nothing could have warmed us up any more. Of course the drink I purchased did the same (Autumn Sweater). I had the mac-n-cheese and it was amazing, and normally I don't do desserts but I did and that too was out of this world. While the place is rather small I think they do so much so well that it makes up for that little blemish.

Fun, neighborhood place

By Joan H |

Dinner with friends, daily specials and fun things on the menu. Didn't think I would want more than a small taste of the Bourbon Caramel Bacon popcorn but it was great! Also had are at hamburger, cooked perfect, juicy and delicious.

A good restaurant with an interesting menu

By Bernard L |

We went to Bridget Foy's with children, and it worked out pretty well. They were very accommodating. We all enjoyed our food, and the service was good. Was it good enough for a return trip, I would have to think about that. In a city like Philadelphia, I think I would try other places before I returned here. The food was good, but not great, the service was a little slow, but we did have a large group. The menu was a little limited, but did have some interesting items. A tough call, as you can gather from this review. I had the mussels and fries, the fries were great, the mussels okay. The desserts were very good, especially the red velvet donuts with icing on the side. It is up to you, read other reviews and make up your own mind.

Good beers on tap

By ANNAMARGARET B |

We had Thanksgiving dinner here this year. There are a half dozen good microbrews on tap and the blood orage belinnis were excellent. The duck taco and calimari appetizers were wonderful. While some of us opted for pumpkin ravioli and beef short ribs rather than the pricier traditional turkey, all the meals were of excellent quality. Serving sizes were moderate, so we were unstuffed this year. Tin ceiling, casual ambiance, and good service all provided a hospitable environment.

Wonderful Christmas dinner.

Made reservations for dinner on Christmas Day and arrived to a bustling environment. We were 15 minutes early but were seated within 10 minutes of arrival. The dining room is cozy but well appointed; drinks were generous and reasonably priced, and the food was all on point. Entrée size was just right to allow us room for dessert. This restaurant is a neighborhood treasure and I hope that it sticks around for years to come!

Great Food in Simple Surroundings

Bridget's is our go-too neighborhood restaurant for good food in simple surroundings. Her short-ribs are amazing. Great Friday afternoon martinis as well. All hail Bridget!

Just be careful about siting at the end...

Just be careful about siting at the end of the bar. The upstairs bathroom sometimes leaks onto the bar.
