We went for dinner watching the location, that is very good! We were in the terrace in front of the sea… the staff was very kind and they assigned us a table with a spectacular view! Unfortunately the plates were not nothing special… an Italian tourist has a different expectation from a place like this.

It was a rainy day and we popped in for a quick bite. The chowder was fantastic and warmed our insides nicely!! Great meal, great service!

We had an excellent lunch at Brigantine (San Diego). We were seated on the patio right above the water and overlooking the pier. It was a dream environment. We had their clam chowder, lunch special (Halibut stuffed with crab, sun dried tomato risotto & broccolini) and fish & chips which was the best I’ve ever tasted. We have only great comments to say about the above dishes. For dessert we had the mud pie and bread pudding, both are very memorable. We will make going to Brigantine a tradition when we go to San Diego. We can’t forget our server, Merry C., she was very pleasant and helpful!

This is right on the water of the San Diego bay, right next to the famous Star of India ship which is beautifully lit up at night! It is walking distance of most hotels downtown and the Embarcadero is so nice to walk around and explore. It's a beautiful restaurant and can surprisingly seat quite a few people, my favorite is on the wraparound deck outside the restaurant, right on the water! The prices are mid to a high mid range. The food, I didn't eat here, I had already eaten when a friend called me to join them for a birthday celebration since I was staying right across from the restaurant. However, everyone enjoyed their meal and appetizers. My only disappointment, and this is clearly my own pallette, I ordered a Mai Tai and to be fair, the drink met the menu description, they are "craft" drinks, but I was not a fan. Instead of the much loved orange/pineapple mix with the rum and grenadine, this was made with fresh squeezed citrus, it was not my style, way too citrusy, not a juice type so to speak. It took me the entire two hours to finish it. Otherwise, I would go back and try the food but here again, this location serves what I would almost call designer food which again, give me the normal pasta with scallops or a regular mahi mahi with rice rather than some of the fancier type food, I'm a simple girl. One thing they loved were the mussels which were served in an almost bouillabase type of base. You just can't beat the ambiance of being right on the bay!

Nice meal served waterfront on the bay. Bacon wrapped crab stuffed prawns, scallops with succotash and lobster tacos were all very good. Mid afternoon with no wait.

We really loved it here, it has a lovely view, the food is so tasty, the children’s menu is really good and the service is great too! Definitely one to return to.

We came here for my birthday and we had a wonderful lunch. At first, I was a little disappointed because we were not given an outside seating even though there were a lot of vacant seats outside. The not-so-friendly hostess said that if we don't have a reservation they can't give us outside seating, which I kinda understand. The only thing that I didn't understand was they gave outside seating to the people who came after us and didn't have a reservation either. I heard the hostess telling them the same thing she told us but they ended up giving them an outside seating…and it's for a table of two also. I wished they could've granted my request since it was my birthday and I did mention it to the hostess. Anyhow, the mood changed because our server, Diana I think her name, was very friendly and very accommodating. We enjoyed the food, they were all very good. We had a wonderful experience except for the hostess who almost ruined my birthday lunch. This is just one hostess who doesn't know how to smile, the other gals were very nice and friendly.

Brigantine on the waterfront We came down to the Broadway Street Pier for the Taco & Beer festival. Even though we had tickets, it was about a 2 hour wait to get in. That’ll be in another review. We were hungry, thirsty and ready to satisfy those needs, so we went to the Brig which was right near the end of the line to get into the other event. We only had to wait a few minutes to be seated and had a great server who made sure we were well taken care of. The food and service was on the spot even though there was a lot of wall in traffic on a Saturday afternoon. There are several Brigantine locations throughout San Diego county and they always do their best to ensure you leave a happy customer. We will be back for sure.

We went for a drink and just an appetizer and we get to have a great view of the bay! It was a perfect waterfront venue and it was sunny that time so all good. The ambience was very beautiful overlooking the maritime museum, etc. The staff were very friendly too!

Tried my first oysters here and enjoyed them. Good atmosphere but was a little disapointed with the service. Had many screw ups on my order which were just tacos and waitress didn't seem to care. Other than that the food was good though.

While on vacation we celebrated our daughter's birthday with a table on the covered patio with a gorgeous view of the harbor at sunset. Joanna was our server and we so enjoyed chatting with her and getting advice on the dishes on the menu we hadn't tried before. My husband ordered the ketch ale-brined chops - which I sampled - delicious. And I normally do not care for pork. My daughter ordered the grilled marinated swordfish and she absolutely loved it. I ordered my favorite, parmesan crusted sand dabs and, as always, the light flaky fish was cooked perfectly. We finished our meal with a slice of mud pie (large enough serving for all three of us) and coffee. Knowing it was our daughter's birthday, Joanna brought the pie with a candle on top and was such a good sport taking several pictures of our family. We make reservations at Brigantine Portside Pier each year when we visit San Diego and have never been disappointed with the food or service.

This review is so sad... because we were so disappointed. We dined here last night early with three other couples celebrating a 45th wedding anniversary. All of us are Brigantine fans... dining over the years at Coronado, La Mesa, Escondido and Del Mar. For all of us this was the first nice meal out in six months due to the Covid 19 shutdowns. We were all primed for a special evening of joy with friends, drinks and a great meal. We were seated waterside with an outstanding view of the Bay. Everyone knows that an occasion like this is way more about the experience than just the food. We chose the Brigantine because we knew we could count on the food.... and wanted the experience of their new Portside Pier location.... replacing "Anthony's" and "Anthony's Star of the Sea Room"... and we wanted a fun social evening the likes of which we have been denied for six months. "Brian" had our table and approached my side of the table... he did not introduce himself. He glanced us over... 8 old farts and me in a Cowboy Hat.. and asked if we'd like to start off with a drink... we all eagerly said yes. He looked down at my wife and me and I said "you know there are four couples here... could we get separate checks"? In a very "Snarky" tone he came back with "Well what do you want? I can't start any check without an order". The entire table was sort of stunned. We all ordered drinks. I ordered a Wild Turkey Bourbon on the rocks and he shot back... how about a Jack Daniels. I asked what Bourbons they offered and he listed off three Bourbons... two blends and two Ryes... I mistakenly ordered one of the Ryes thinking he had listed Bourbons. After he left the table one of the wives... and Anniversary celebrant... commented strongly that the waiter certainly had an attitude. We all agreed and conjectured that he had just had a bad day. It was at that point a very small thing... but his tone and manner was not inviting or welcoming at all... it was outright rudeness... and it got worse. He returned to the table... and asked if we would like to order an appetizer or if we had any questions about the menu. I asked what the $18 Oysters on the half shell were and he explained they were 6 half shells... nothing about size or variety but he did suggest they were best priced in quantities of six. I asked how much ala carte and he said $3.25 so I ordered three. There was no explanation of anything on the menu... no suggestions... no contribution on his part at all. Worse there was a tone... and an air to him of very condescending impatience with us all. One couple ordered entrees and asked to split a "Wedge Salad". My wife ordered "Fish and Chips" and a "Wedge Salad". Brian took the women's orders first... and worked his way back to me. because I was ordering I had put back on my "Mask". He stood over me and asked in a very "Snarky" tone... "well are you going to order or are you not eating tonight." I'm 75 years old and love to dine out. I've never been more shocked in a restaurant. I ordered "Sand Dabs" ... and he snipes back... "I can't see you (Cowboy Hat) or hear you (Mask). I repeated my order. He left the table and now we are all talking about his attitude. So after all the stuff we've put up with in this Covid shutdown... we go out to have fun... and get instead... treated rudely by a condescending unprofessional waiter who could have been... if he wanted or tried... the highlight of the evening. All the other couples got their salads and we waited patiently for my wife's "Wedge Salad". We finally asked and they whisked back to the Kitchen. They brought out her salad... apologized for the delay and before she had one bite...Brian and her entree and all the other entree's arrived. I had not said one word to Brian at this point. My wife asked him his name and he told us. I had not said anything because I did not want to distract any further from the evening... or in any way be a wet blanket of what was supposed to be a party. But I was so angry at his failure to contribute anything positive to our experience. And if fact he had greatly detracted from the entire experience. Having had enough... I turned to him and quietly told him..."You're not very good at this. We love this company and have looked forward to trying this location. We have all waited six months for an evening out like this and you have not only offered nothing... you have treated us rudely and admonished us with several "Snarky" comments." He Condescendingly thanked me for the criticism. When he returned with the checks... he had made a $10 adjustment to our bill for "food error". Never a mention of coffee or after dinner drinks. I'm sure all he wanted was for us to get out of his life. I love excellence in any form. All 8 of us were robbed of a wonderful fun experience for a very special occasion... by a nice looking young man. NO TIP... but a lesson in accountability.

There is 6 of us girls that go on a yearly trip, this year we chose San Diego, was absolutely the best! We were referred to the Brigantine by a friend who had just been there. Wow! It was fantastic, the waiters were top notch, checked on our every need, the atmosphere was spectacular. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. It is a "Don't miss" if you visit San Diego!

We decided to have dinner here because of the reviews and the proximity to the hotel, and we made a terrible choice. The menu offers very little choice and the price of the dishes is absolutely exaggerated compared to the quality: the food is tasteless and in a seaside place we expected fresh fish (which we could see was not taken into consideration in the slightest). We left leaving our plates half finished, disappointed and hungry. We strongly advise against eating here.

Very good seafood restaurant located right on the water. Unfortunately we were there on a very wet and grey day so the view wasn’t great but the food was delicious. We arrived in town at 5 on a Friday night and had reservations for 6:45. We called and they were able to easily move our reservation to an earlier arrival time. Our server was new and he was friendly and honest about his skill level. He forgot to bring our bread we ordered and when we reminded him, he not only brought it but removed it from our check for his error. We had the oysters Rockefeller and they were very good as were our entries. I had the Parmesan Crusted San Dabs. I had never tried this type of fish and it was good with a very mild flavor similar to flounder. My husband had the blacken fish special and we finished our meal with a shared slice of Creme Brûlée. Although it was a pricey meal, $170 with tip, it was good!

I grew up going to the Brigantine Shelter Island, and was excited to visit the Portside location. It definitely did not disappoint. The location is fantastic--right on the Embarcadero, literally over the water. (Oldtimers will remember when this location used to be Anthony's Seafood Grotto. The building has been completely gutted and remodeled, and is airy and lovely.) Our waitress was great. I have a gluten intolerance, and she was very knowledgeable about steering me to the safest options on the menu. My daughter and I agree, the sand dabs are the yummiest fish we have ever eaten. (Sadly, although it's listed as gluten free on the menu, it is not. I had it in the past, and recommended it to my daughter, who can eat gluten.) We also really enjoyed the swordfish and catch of the day. Same daughter tells me the cocktails are delicious. Flan was super yummy, as well. Seriously, you can't go wrong here. It's the perfect place for a date or a special occasion meal (we were celebrating my birthday), but casual enough and at a price point that you don't have to wait for that special day.

A colleague and myself, attending a meeting in San Diego, made a reservation for dinner. We were seated outside, waterside, and very much enjoyed the harbor ambiance. Our server was super helpful and professional. The meals were creatively prepared, nicely presented, and very good. The fish and chips is a very large portion. The blackberry bread pudding was some of the very best bread pudding that I have ever had. My only quibble -- no espresso machine!

Using Open Table it took 2 months to get a reservation. I was informed to call the restaurant directly to book a reservation is faster. Valet parking available out front for $18. No waiting with reservation . Both indoor and outdoor seating available. When you make your reservation request the outdoor patio seating on the north west area. Very nice ambiance , great view of the sunset and surrounding area. The food was excellent, great service and enjoyable eventing.

We chose this place for a 65th birthday special occasion, which I indicated on the Open Table reservation. No one commented so I told the person who checked us in and the waiter, Stephen per the receipt, of such but got nothing more than a birthday greeting. (no slither of cake, nothing else) For the price and the occasion, they could have done more. This place is right on the waterfront with great views and therefore higher than normal prices. The food was decent but not indicative of the price. Our waiter was less and less attentive as he got more tables. Would not return on a future visit as there are many other choices. I only drank water, which was refilled often at first but I was left high and dry for over 10 minutes at the end of my meal even though I specifically told the waiter that I drink a lot of water?? I had the grilled octopus ($18.00) which was good but not worth the price. I had sand dabs ($28,00) (after I asked what they were and was told a type of flounder), which was also tasty and maybe worth the price. The birthday boy had a glass of wine ($11.00) for sauvignon blanc. He started with a $10.00 bowl of chowder, a little much for the portion, and then had seasonal halibut as the entree ($35.00), about $10.00 more than the portion's worth. I guess you pay for location, location, location!!! The food was good but nothing above and beyond. We learned after 2 nights' eating on the harbor front that it is better to just walk along the harbor area and then go inland a few blocks for better food at much better prices with friendlier, less touristy, service. Would not recommend this place to others unless they just wanted to overpay for a good view with just slightly above average food and mediocre service!

The menu is pretty much the same as the other Brigantine restaurants. We did not explore the menu much as we both had the crab cake which was excellent with no filler. One of us had just a crab cake and one had the crab cake sandwich, mainly because the sandwich comes with the homemade chips which are great. But the real treat is the view the outside patio is right on the bay and you can see all the way to Point Loma.

Beautiful setting on the pier and delicious seafood. Started off with the calamari strips appetizer, and the oyster shooters that come with or without pepper flavored vodka. I had the swordfish dinner that came with Parmesan risotto and broccoli. The fish was melt in your mouth fresh. My wife had the Cioppino that was a large bowl filled with seafood. Delicious and the meals cost $36 and $19.50, respectively. It was wine Wednesday so all bottles were 50% off. We tried the Brigantine Pinot Noir ($40) that was very tasty. The staff is friendly and efficient. A memorable experience!

Delicious meal, well presented, very pleasant Welcoming both of the Young Girl of Welcoming and by the room boy. Delicious cocktails, Italian pinot gris was top. The gargantuan dessert (but refined) , feel free to take 1 for 2:-)

During our visit to San Diego, we stopped by Brigantine at the Bay to enjoy some seafood. Enjoyed the Mahi Mahi and Oyster Rockefeller. Delicious! Restaurant is very crowded, but has nice view of the Bay.

We had a great table on the deck for brunch. Loved watching boats and planes go by. Service was really good. There are more lunch than breakfast items on their brunch menu. As a pescatarian, there were only two items for me to choose between. My omelet was good. His chicken and waffles was dry... but had good flavor

Our hostess seated us with a smile! Esa , our waitress, was one of the best. The harbor view beautiful. We both enjoyed a salad, fresh bread, a delicious scallops dinner, and dessert.

This amazing architectural wonder just opened in the middle of the pandemic so kudos to Portside Pier to pull this all off. The curved steel and glass structures on the waterfront is a 2 story multi restaurant complex with public access to enjoy the view. With so many waiting to get into Brigantine downstairs I wandered up the spiral staircase and found Topsail with tables, loungers and best of all a breezy cool outdoor bar. I love to belly up to a bar so ordered a pricey pint of Burgeon Pilsner. The menu up here is more small plate style so I had the crab cake which was served over a slaw with a good mustardy aioli sauce. Tina Marie was my server and when I asked about the Draft Mule she said they brew their own ginger beer and indeed it is a Moscow Mule on draft. Of course I had to have this copper mug favorite and with the bitters it really was probably the best one I've ever had. The ambience up here is so relaxing and the view is amazing. What an impressive addition to the Embarcadero.

We had light bites , salads and raw oysters before the dinner crowd (make a reservation!). Excellent service (Alex), drinks and atmosphere. Would recommend and try again.

This visit confirmed what our last one was, a truly enjoyable experience. We had a table with a nice view of the bay, the service was attentive without being overbearing and the food was delicious. This is a large, busy and popular place so make sure you have a reservation to avoid a long wait. There are several other restaurants in the Brigantine family in the same location.

Nothin special here. The usual tourist-trap restaurant with fairly steep pricing. I used to frequent the Brig in Point Loma. A decent hole-in-the-wall for an afternoon's drink and appetizer. Now the Brig has put on airs and wants to be fine dining on the Bay -- I don't think so.

We went for lunch on a Sunday. First off, they had the music system cranked up with very obnoxious music blasting in every area and after asking that it be turned down, it was, slightly. The service was slow and inattentive. The Brussel Sprout appetizer was tasty. The Swordfish was served stone cold. The bed of risotto on which it was served was mediocre and cold. The broccolini was not sufficiently cooked and cold in any case. It was topped with garlic butter but because the butter was cold and the food was cold, it never melted onto the food as desired. My guests both had the Louie salads which were served without dressing. When we asked for dressing a very small amount was eventually served and we had to ask twice more for more salad dressing. The restaurant is very near the San Diego airport and every jet that took off produced so much noise that it was impossible to talk. The bill, including a 15% tip was $116. Very expensive for very mediocre food and service. We cannot recommend this restaurant and will never return.

A nice stop on the water. Our waiter Tanner was excellent. The swordfish was FANTASTIC (must try this even if you don’t usually eat swordfish as it was cooked perfectly) & scallops were good. We didn’t care for the crab & shrimp fondue appetizer. Try something else. Wine selection was ok. I liked one of the Malbecs. Tried 3 different ones and the other two were too acidic.

Great view of San Diego harbor. Friendly staff. Good appetizers. Great main dishes. Mostly sea food. Reasonable prices.

We were walking by and decided to have dinner here. It was a wonderful choice! The atmosphere and the food are all top notch.

Waitress was very cold and didn’t know the menu. My husband mentioned to her that it was his birthday at the beginning of the evening. She said she would bring something and never did. He ordered the Steak Flatbread, asked for no mushrooms. It came very plain - no mushrooms, onions or peppers. When he asked why there were no veggies, she didn’t know. Came back and said all veggies were cooked together, so no mushrooms meant nothing but steak and cheese. Didn’t offer to change his plate, just left. Did not comp the meal. My daughter ordered the kids burger. Could not finish it as it didn’t taste right. I ordered the cioppino. She did not bring any slide plate for the shells. Took some time to flag her down again. Overall, a very disappointing birthday experience for my husband, and in turn, us as a family.

Excellent food. Great menu. Our server was so helpful and knowledgeable. Modern atmosphere and beautiful views. Definitely recommend.

A great waterside setting. The fish and chips were excellent (wild Alaskan cod and we'll seasoned fries). The pan seared halibut special also was excellent. Very friendly and efficient service. Reservations are highly recommend as this is in a busy waterfront area.

It was an outstanding experience — we enjoyed a variety of dishes and each one was exceptional. The staff was truly wonderful. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to San Diego for round two.

My wife and I have eaten at the other Brigantine locations in Escondido and Coronado so we expected our dinner to be very good. This location has a great water view and an upbeat, casual vibe. My wife started with a salad and I had the crab cakes. We both enjoyed our starters. For entrees, my wife had the mac nut mahi mahi and I had the swordfish. My wife always enjoys mahi mahi and she was very happy with the preparation and presentation. I sampled the mahi mahi and agree that the fish was very well cooked. Swordfish is a favorite of mine and was good but a bit overcooked for my taste. We enjoyed a wonderful bottle of wine that went perfect with the fish. Our server was efficient and friendly especially considering how busy the restaurant was. Overall we enjoyed our dinner and would certainly return on a future trip.

Great location and view and ambiance. Food was good. Had Rock oysters and crab louie salad. Saw they had bread pudding with berries and ice cream. My wife likes to try bread pudding at any restaurant that serve it. This one is the best !

No matter what time you go to this restaurant - it is full. It is located at the harbor (close to the Star of India Ship Museum) and also the cruise ship port. Two of us had the Cobb Salad with crab and shrimp which was good size and very filling. The person I was with had the “special of the day” which was fish. She reported it was very good but a little expensive at $45. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with good service.

The great views of the harbor is the main draw to this Seafood restaurant by San Diego's beautiful harbor. Book an outdoor table prior to sunset and you'll have a delicious memory of a dinner with friends, family or whomever. There's even a great bar inside if you are not with any significant other and yes if you take the Old Town Trolley, it will stop off near this restaurant as we found out the next day. You can then come for lunch! Adequate parking outside and they even have valet parking too. Near plenty of unique ships, even some that looks like Jack Sparrow of the Pirates of the Caribbean would swing by. The food is indeed pricy but you are paying premium for the view. Good thing is that it tastes somewhat good. Definitely a tourist spot but for a good time, why not? Happy Eating!!!

New beautiful location!!!! Waited for this for a long time and were not disappointed. We had lunch for the first time at this location and had a wonderful meal. The place is amazing!!! Right on the water with a gorgeous view. The service was impeccable and they have a great menu. Delicious food!!! Had some oysters and white wine ( they have a nice selection of wines ) and then some shrimp filled with crab that were amazing!!! Their deserts are amazing!!!

My daughter and I had lunch here on our San Diego trip. Best food we had on our entire one week vacation! And the best margaritas too! I had the tuna poke bowl, she had the spinach salad, and we had the margaritas with Grand Marnier. We ate at the bar with the best wait person/bartender ever named Lauren. She was very attentive and personable. Special lunch for us on a personally special day! Thanks to Lauren!!

Hopped off a cruise to join a friend for lunch and they suggested Brigatine. It's right on the waterfront and close to the USS Midway and the Cruise center. They have seating both indoor and outdoor and a great menu of seafood options. The service was excellent and the food was tasty, but a it expensive. Lunch for 3, with tip was about $120. Great atmosphere and awesome views of the bay so I would visit again give the chance.

Very good restaurant facing the sea. The waiters are friendly. Very good, sought-after cuisine. To advice

Very nice location, distracted service and average food. However, it is worth spending an evening to enjoy the atmosphere and dine by the sea.

food was ok. service was terrible. seated with no issue. chose to sit outside. staff might want to mention that conversations will periodically be impossible due to jet aircraft noise. They did not mention this. Table was clean but no setup. Ordered apps, apps delivered, still no setup. Asked a passing server for a setup. Waited, No setup. I had to get up, go inside and help myself to a setup from an empty table. Thus, our apps were several minutes removed being hot but still ok. Not even half-way through the apps when entries arrived, compounding the error. For this price, one would expect service slightly north of what is available when ordering a footlong. So many unforced errors.

I am passing through San Diego and met a friend of mine for cocktails and a quick bite to eat. We sat at the bar. The service was terrible. We are both restaurant people that have been in this business for years. The service was horrible four bartenders. They left six dirty dishes in front of us the whole time. Never asked how things were. Had to ask for the check. It's just horrible how service is these days and then they expect a tip. I would imagine if we were 20-year-old blondes + that 50-year-old women they would have been all over us. I blame the managers. You're only as good as your leaders.

Overall, it was underwhelming. The crab and shrimp Louie salad was tasteless. I suspect the shrimp was frozen, which was surprising given that the restaurant is on the pacific. Wait staff was attentive at first but then ignored us after the food arrived. The crab cake was good but a very small portion, more an appetizer than a meal. Very pricey for what you would expect.

Visited here 2x I’m a week on Oct. This is a more fancy restaurant than usual. Both visits were great. On both occasions we had the chefs specials which were amazing. On our first visit we sat outside which was great, but you need a jumper when the sun goes does these days. Excellent food, drink and service. Just go if you want a special night out and are prepared to pay a bit more than usual.

This review relates to the Top Sail bar. Absolutely appalling service. Ignored, then waited 15 minutes to be served with a glass of wine. Asked if I could plug my iPhone in and was told no, due to ‘liabilities’! Was then offered a seat 10 feet from the bar but told I had to settle my tab and start a new one! Another 15 minute wait. Was going to have food but service was so shocking decided to go. Nobody even acknowledged us leaving. Great location, but worst bar I’ve been to for service in San Diego.

You pay for the great service, wonderful view. The food was lacking. Fish & Chip: Fish was OK, Chips a bit too dark and salty. Cole slaw I set back too bitter and dry. Servicer was attentive and delightful. Cheesecake was suburb. I'll give the another chance.

Service was amazing despite our inability to decide on what to have since everything was looking so good. Finally chose salad and special of the day which was BOMB: Norwegian salmon stuffed with goat cheese lobster sauce and shrimp on top served with mushroom risotto. Seafood in San Diego? Go here

Very nice restaurant. Both outside and inside service along the water. Business casual to very nice attire. Staff was attentive and nice. Fair priced.

I had the oysters on a half shell and crispy brussel sprouts. The oysters had little to no flavor and one I asked them to exchange because it was riddled and destroyed when they shucked it. For $18 for 1/2 dozen, the could've been wayyyyy better! Presentation was nice though and the location and view is beautiful. Expensive but okay. I'd go back but I'm sure I'll find somewhere better on my visit here!

Early Dinner after our Whale Watching. We only had a 15-20 minute wait as a walk up. Pleasant hostess showed us to a table with a view, as requested. The Mussels were tasty and served in a reasonable time. We had small plates and all were flavorful. Crab cakes and macadamia coconut shrimp were well presented and enjoyed by all. Drinks were generous and well mixed. Service was efficient and friendly.

We were attracted by the location and the place, which from the outside looked very nice and well-kept. Our expectations were not disappointed. Even though we hadn't booked, they found us a table, the service is very efficient and the menu is quite varied, the oysters are excellent like the rest. I advise.

I had dinner at this restaurant with a friend and I must say that I had a good time. I wanted to try the famous fried lobster and I was satisfied (exquisite), accompanied with steamed vegetables and truffle chips (delicious). Courteous staff. Maybe a little expensive but it's worth it having dinner right on the sea.

First of all this restaurant is lovely overlooking the water, and the staff was very nice. There was only one vegetarian option called "Cauliflower Steak" -- I thought it sounded interesting but I was wrong. It was very pretty food, but bland, tasteless and very expensive. It had Brussell sprouts, tomatoes and few slivered almonds on it for $23. That with one small glass of white wine was $42. I did enjoy the view though so I'd say go for that. Wish they had more vegetarian options but it was a beautiful evening so I did enjoy it.

This review only pertains to the new Harbor Dr. Location. Those giving high reviews obviously have not been to their other locations. We’ve been a long time customer of Brigantine in La Mesa. Always excellent food and Service. But, the new Harbor Dr. Location is a huge disappointment. Maybe it’s good for Tourists, I dunno. Our dinners were quickly prepared and were not even close, taste and quality wise to what we were use to. They of course have a nice view, so if you are looking for mediocre expensive food this is a good place, but there are others far better with the same view.

We came with 6 people for business. The setting is pleasant but the waiter is arrogant... And unable to take an order properly, I order a dark beer, I end up with a blonde... Well let's move on. The dish arrives, the ingredients on the menu are not on the plate. The prawns taste like nothing.

Sat outside, they have heaters and it’s absolutely beautiful. Server came by and drinks came, ordered clam chowder to start, it’s delish! We order. We’re watching these other tables, and hear there are specials?!? What!! We were never told any specials. Then these tables around us get warm delicious smelling bread and we didn’t get anything so we asked, were we supposed to get bread. Apparently some servers bring it and some only do it if you ask….sorry this needs to be standardized. We should’ve been offered, how the heck are we supposed to know to ask?! He never came by to do a quality check, I wish he would’ve. I couldn’t touch my fish, it was so over cooked it sucked all the moisture out of my mouth. It was gross, a place like this, you’d expect better quality. He took the plates away, no was everything okay? even though 90% of the food was left on my plate. He never touched the wine bottle to fill glasses. It honestly ruined our dinner. The only saving grace was this delightful server that you could tell felt terrible for us, Sara. Ask for Sara or don’t go here. For the price we paid this standard is simply unacceptable.

The location is great, but the food is average and on the high side. We started with blue point oysters which were very good. Entrees were Halibut, seasonal stew, tacos and pork chops. The halibut and tacos were good but small portions. The stew could have used some jasmine rice. The chops were the best meal for the money. The beer and wine selection is nice. Service was very good, but in all a little disappointed with the meal.

Food was mediocre. I could make better myself. The calamari appetizer was horrible! Like eating breaded fried rubber- I sent it back after one bite. Don’t come for the food, come for the view. Excellent service though… server Tyler was wonderful- and he comp’d my dessert because of the calamari issue. The rest of the meal was just OK. Filet mignon good and cooked to order but covered in some weird sauce. Over whipped potatoes with a couple of potato chunks. Asparagus with tough ends untrimmed. Again, don’t expect great food, but great view and service!

We’ve recently been vaccinated, but still want to be cautious about dining out, so I chose this restaurant because it offered outside dining. Though I’m glad we were seated outside because the indoor dining room seemed to be jammed with insufficient spacing between tables, the outdoor balcony overlooking the parking lot was completely lacking in ambiance and the heaters couldn’t keep up with the chilly sea breeze. The calamari appetizer was hot and tasty, and my husband enjoyed his fish and chips, though the fries were rather soggy. The halibut entree that I chose was tasteless, mushy and barely warm. Desserts are not offered in the menu, so our anniversary dinner was not as festive as we had hoped.

Shrimp and crab fondue which looked and tasted like a simple dip Overcooked octopus Cocktails took a long while to arrive I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, not even a candle was presented at our table Look for other options

Three girlfriends meeting for lunch, first time at this new Brigantine. We suggest making a reservation, since many people were standing by for first come- first serve available seating . Upscale outside patio Bayside table with beautiful views of Coronado and the Star of India. We tried the crab and lobster Cobb salad, a House salad with grilled shrimp for added protein, and Macadamia encrusted mahi. All had beautiful presentation, and were delicious. Cobb salad was large enough for two to share and had an ample amount of crab and lobster! We all highly recommend their Pomegranate Sangria, flavorful and refreshing! We can't wait to go back!

We walked down to this restaurant after touring the USS Midway. The atmosphere is so beautiful overlooking the water. Our original waiter was very kind and moved us to a place in the shade as the sun was beating directly in our faces and it was a very hot day. The menu had a wide variety of things to choose from, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals!

We had dinner here with some friends and both the food and service were excellent. I had the halibut and loved it. My husband had the Jumbo prawns and said they were great. We shared bread pudding for dessert and it was oh so good. I ordered strawberry lemonade and my husband tried flavored tea but ended up changing to the strawberry lemonade because it was much better. We were seated outside and had a pretty good view and even enjoyed a long distance siting of some fireworks from Sea World. Also the service was great with no one at our table of 6 feeling neglected.

Looked forward to our visit to the new Brigantine facility pier side in San Diego. located where Anthony’s was for so many years. It was a welcome sight to see this establishment open. A very big restaurant, it is obviously 50% closed due to Covid protocols. Nice bar space and patio area being used at this time. Forrest, our server, was excellent in his duties. He upsold us on a bottle of wine and also exuded great enthusiasm for the restaurant. Our grilled Oysters with Wontons, while very tasty, were terribly overcooked. Our NE Clam Chowder was served piping hot and delicious. Black Mussels with Chorizo were , again, very good but very overcooked. Finally the Macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi was presented nicely, but overcooked. This is a brand new restaurant that has just opened, so hopefully they will work out their kitchen opportunities.

Visiting San Diego after 20 years and met a friend here for lunch. Our server, Jeannie, got us a really nice table right on the bay. We ordered the Half Cobb salad with crab and lobster. The whole salad would have been too big to eat so the half is an excellent option. It was fresh, and the seafood delicious. A great setting on the San Diego bay. Recommend reservations as it fills up fast.

Rather pricey for casual dining, but you get what you pay for. The contemporary, inviting ambiance was perfectly sparkling clean at this fully cantilevered restaurant that is fully upon the water above pylons. Sitting at a table just adjacent to the veranda, we enjoyed Raw Oysters, Grilled Octopus, Mussels, Crab & Shrimp Fondue, and Coconut Shrimp. All small plates and appetizer for three to share. A beautiful breeze wafted in and out of the open glass walls as we sampled a bountiful spread of delights from the sea. The Harbor Blvd. location is perfect for visitors and residence alike, withing walking distance of the Broadway Pier, the USS Midway, the ferry to Coronado, and much more. The service was very nice, attentive, and not rushed.

Delicious specialty drinks paired perfectly with a gorgeous view. Drink prices are high, this was our splurge night out for the week.

Great food and views. This place is new and very upbeat. It has all of the old ships around it. We had a wonderful dinner.

This restaurant replaced Anthonys and I did not think it could beat the taste and great fish there but it surpassed it in a great way. The service was cordial, and the table outside next to the harbor had a fantastic view. The food was aboslutely amazing. Probably the best fish I have ever had. We visited four fish restaurants while in town and this was indeed the best, including the ambiance too. I highly recommend it.

After a pleasurable couple of hours at the Maritime Museum, we were in the mood for a seaside lunch. This is a tastefully elegant place for seafood and a beautiful waterfront view. Gorgeous-looking bar. We had excellent lobster rolls (almost as good as being in Maine, but nothing beats Maine lobster fresh off the boat) with truffle fries, and our son's fish & chips were faultless. Service was excellent, our server kept the coffee cups full. Not too crowded at 2 p.m. This was the splurge meal of our trip, lunch for 3 with non-alcoholic beverages came at $95 before tip.

This place is great!! The food is absolutely delicious. We had to wait 45 minutes on a Sunday evening because we didn’t have reservations, so I suggest you definitely make reservations. Nevertheless, the wait was worth it. I had the scallops that were cooked to perfection. My husband had the swordfish on risotto that was to die for. The fish was soooo moist. My oldest daughter had the Chicken Milanesa that was very tasty. You have to ask for a kids menu if you have younger ones. The chicken tenders were good, but a little too crunchy for my daughter’s satisfaction. Our waiter Sokol was great!! He was still vibrant and full of energy at 9:30pm. We didn’t feel rushed and he was excellent. We will be returning whenever we decide to visit California again. The view by the window was awesome too!!!

The food & views here are spectacular. Slightly pricey but incredibly worth it. Yummy fish tacos. Good service. Highly recommend.

Spectacular view and excellent food! Service was pretty good. We were lucky enough to be seated over looking the ocean and had a perfect view of the sunset.

We went for an early dinner and sat at the bar as there was no wait for the bar or high tables. The atmosphere was lovely and the food to die for. It was a misty overcast day but the ocean views are lovely, I'm sure they would be even better on a clear day. We are visiting from the UK and love how friendly the local people and servers are. We ate oysters and Ahi tuna and it was faultless. Wine was very nice too. special call out to Steven the Irish bartender and his colleague Angel who were both lovely and great at their job, If we lived in the area we would be regulars!

How come there are no more places like Brigantine along Harbor Dr.??? The place is probably a tourist magnet, but overall, makes a good job. The place is way beyond appealing and agreeable, not just in its look and decor, but also for sightseeing. There’s no doubt this is the kind of place you think of when you think of San Diego, and be sure to be there at sunset, might get a bit dazzling but also marvelously colorful, so don’t forget your sunglasses and book a table with a view. Food preparation and creativity range on the good to very good tiers, but when it comes to freshness it goes off the chart!!! Overall, the dinner menu is not what you would call extensive and focuses on seafood, with just one or two steak options. We had the octopus –perfectly grilled and deliciously paired with Spanish chorizo; the crab & shrimp cobb salad –fresh and plenty; and the grilled swordfish –probably a bit dry but still tasty. If you love beer, try some of the household brews. Even when Brigantine could be considered a tourist magnet, and with locals recommending way better, tastier, more affordable options, I consider this restaurant to be reasonably priced and appealing enough to recommend it, specially, when visiting the city.

Atmosphere was fine, some of the food was very good (as stated by companions), but service was very slow and unresponsive to requests, long waits for anything. I ordered hot tea - came in a glass "cup" and not hot at all, Asked for hot water and another glass cup came in 7 minutes. I ordered a shrimp and crab louie. When it came, there was no louie dressing to be seen - waiter said it was "tossed in". WRONG Completely dry, Asked for some dressing and after 5 minutes, the waiter brought very small container - enouth for maybe 10 % of the dish. I requested more - after 5 more minute, he brought two more small container - still not enough, but I was not going to wait more, There were plenty of nice shrimp but no crab to be found. No bread or rolls were served or offered. Asked for some sweetener for the tea - another 5 minute wait. And the place was not full. It was 3 PM. Overall, the setting was excellent but the service was awful, at least for me. Made what could have been a pleasant experience a bad one for me and for my companions as well as they had to put up with my sitting and waiting for service.

Great food, by the ocean, the bartenders are very friendly, excellent wine selection! We went for lunch and came back for finner the same day and sat at the bar in both occasions! Highly recommended!

Visited Brigantine on 6/9/2022. Nice addition to the new / refreshed San Diego waterfront. Order: 1. Three glasses of Sauvignon Blanc: No complaints, glassware clean, service punctual - difficult to get it wrong, and the view was wonderful. 2. A couple pints of Ketch Hazy Condition - solid beers. This is where we turn a bit south..... 3. Two cups of chowder: Solid presentation, but not standard / conventional chowder. Tasted like the kitchen was trying to modify a historic classic and it wasn't for the better. I am not complaining about too few clams, or too much celery, it had none of those deficiencies. It was rather a prominent taste difference from what one would be accustomed to. Could not put my taste bud on it, but it was either way too heavy on Thyme or Rosemary - and it did not work well - at all. A simple chowder is not the place for a chef to put forward his artistic creativity. I thought this was a one off, until the next appetizer... 4. Coconut Shrimp: Chili dipping sauce had an overwhelming amount of ginger - READ A LOT, to the point where it wasn't sweet chili sauce, but rather a ginger sauce. Also, in the picture, the shrimp itself was severely over-fried, with a burnt taste. Either too long in the oil or the fryer oil was long overdue for a change. Bottom line: I would give a 4 to service, ambience, and location. If they were a small business, I would error on the side of a 4 for food in view of the errors being unintentional missteps. But they're not a small mom and pop, they are the Brigantine in a major city with $17.50 Coconut Shrimp, $12 Trader Mort's Mai Tai, $8 cups (not bowls) of chowder, etc. Bottom line, going with a three to help bring some of the 4- and 5-star reviews into better alignment. I am convinced people continue to overinflate reviews as a kind gesture to an industry who suffered more than some during a pandemic. The honeymoon phase is over - "Do Better".

We popped in for lunch after a visit to the Maritime Museum. Honestly, this place looked promising, as the views are amazing, and it the restaurant is beautiful. We ate on the patio, with a great view of the harbor. We had coconut shrimp for an appetizer, two beers, and the daily special (a halibut dish) that we split. Our bill was over $100. While the halibut was very good, but the portion size was small. The coconut shrimp was over cooked. Our waiter was less than attentive. We could have chosen more wisely!

Handy location on the waterfront when touring San Diego. We waited ~1/2 hour for a table to open & had wonderful cocktails, oyster appetizer, dinner, & dessert. My husband is quite sensitive to strong spice and our waiter, Forest, was excellent in guiding him for the best selections. We both has substitution requests, which were nicely fulfilled. The atmosphere was pleasant, watching the sunset over the harbor and the service was very attentive. Food was well-prepared and very tasty!

I was a waitress for years. My husband and I have been to this restaurant bar a few times this weekend. The food is good and they have a great selection of food. I have to give Peter the bartender kudos! He was moving making cocktails and was very personable. We enjoyed his company. We really enjoyed his craft of making drinks super fast and he for sure was “in the weeds” a couple of times

Friends had already taken me over some time ago, it was a great experience so I was very happy to go back. Even if I knew the fish is excellent, I ordered a burger (my boyfriend liked it so much he almost stole it from me ... hahaha!!!) and it was delicious. Our friends ordered calamari fo share so we got a little bit of everything. Not to mention the desserts ... yummy!!! Let me say if an Italian says a restaurant is good, it really is because we are so fussy about food. And I have to say we were attended by the sweetest and most professional waitress - I hope I remember her name well, Kelsey ... she has beautiful ginger hair. Thank you so very much for a lovely night.

Had a lovely table outside and dined as we watched the sunset. Very good atmosphere and service was excellent. We started with Chowder and coconut / macadamia shrimps then we both had tempura cod and fries, all the food was fresh, hot and very tasty..

Excellent food and service. I was wondering if we'd be seated quickly when we saw that there was a line, at noon, on a Saturday, but they seated us almost immediately. We had a lovely view of the harbor and the Star of India tall ship. The food was excellently prepared and the fries were especially good.

The staff at the bar were amazing! I had dinner and a drink and I watched these bartenders work their magic. Whoever is the manager kudos to you. Your staff has their stuff together. The food was fresh and delicious!

Great service from Kate. The martini’s were excellent. I had both a lemon drop and a chocolate one. Both excellent. I had the fish and chips (bar menu-2 vs 3 filets). More than enough. The tarter sauce that came with the meal was the icing on a delicious meal. I went on a Monday night (my first restaurant lost power). Only had to wait for a table about 5 minutes. Kate was the best waitress I think I have ever had in my life. Checked regularly but not too much. Was very friendly but not a fake friendly if you know what I mean. I definitely recommend this place. The only down was I wish they had closed the front doors as it was cool for a December evening and I sat near the door. I survived and am thinking of going back tomorrow.

We had our last night in SD at this restaurant; sand dabs portion was huge and the polenta oh so good, the fish and chips were ok (fries were too soggy and overcooked). Limited- very limited- menu. Had the oysters, and for the size, while tasty, were extremely small for 6/$18. Unfortunately, limited beer menu, especially since there was no dark beer. Our server, Stephen, was most excellent. Love the "fire pit" on the outside to keep us warm at night.

We have eaten here in the past and it was fine but we went Mother's Day and it was an experience where we won't come here again. It is not their fault we had to park 1.2 miles away and my husband had to walk but we are seniors in our 70's and without asking if the table was ok the girl sat me outside at a small table in the shade. I did request a water patio view but we had previously eaten on the big patio. I didn't even know there was a line up of tiny tables in the shade. I was so cold and had to ask for the above heater to be turned on. I had calamari and was surprised at how tough and chewy it was. We each ordered the fish tacos. The cold slaw was in the tacos and a big serving on the plate and neither of us touched it. It tasted pretty blah and awful. We felt like where we were sitting we were an afterthought for service and we were placed where the door banged right behind my husband's head every time a guest or server walked out. A loud bang plus a gust of air each time that was cold. I had made reservations April 10 so that should have been enough time to not put us old people at the afterthought worst table. 2 taco plates with two tacos and cold slaw and some potato chips and a paltry calamari very chewy came to over $70. Very disappointed. The waiter said if I was so cold I should have asked to be sat somewhere else but it was Mother's Day and they were booked solid so I just endured shivering the whole meal. It is took bad because we are regulars at the embarcadero restaurants. Our waiter was nice and even brought us a free dessert. I don't want to be ungrateful but the food was just not up to par. We left most of our meal on our plates and when we left we stopped to get a pizza to go near our house that saved the day and our appetites. For a great water view experience there is Ruth's Chris Steakhouse or Sally's in Sea Port Village or Tom Ham's Pt Loma where there is no shortage of parking.

Superb in every way. Wonderful location, great food and top class service. The beer was excellent too. An evening to remember.

If you love Brussel sprouts, you'll think you died and went to heaven. The charred brussels are exquiste. We ordered a handful of appetizers and shared them. Every single bite was a visit to paradise. I cannot wait to go back there. It can take some time to get a table, but the servers are so nice and so considerate you end up not caring. The ambience - even with the crowds - is convivial coastal. Worth going to.

Ate here weekend of December 10. I had steak and lobster. Great filte mignon, very tender and flavorful. Overall a good value as far as expensive dishes go. Other entrees our group had were also enjoyed. Very efficient and courteous waitress. She was right on top of things. Was able to see the Disney Cruise ship take off and sunset. Not cheap, but much better than the Anthony's Seafood that it replaced. Lots of glass and has an upstairs area, too. Overall a great experience.

Very clean and classy looking restaurant. We chose to seat outside in the patio area to enjoy the breeze. Decorated impeccably. Service started off slow at first but it picked up later. Baked oysters were fabulous as was fish and chips. Strawberry Rose Lemonade was a little on the sour side but still good. Clam chowder was satisfactory. I definitely would w eat here again just for the view.

Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our evening dining at Brigantine. Salmon, Steak, Crab Stuffed Tiger Shrimp, Coconut Macadamia Shrimp. 20/25 minute wait on a Tuesday night at 6:30pm. Pleasant atmosphere, street musician outside the restaurant, numerous succulents providing a buffer from the sidewalk. Charlene, our server was the best! Knowledgeable with menu selections, answers for every question asked, very pleasant, efficient & energetic! The best! Another employee, Nathan was friendly, helpful and seemed genuinely anxious to fill our request. Many thanks to both!

The atmosphere was great…. The service was great… the food was so-so for price. The large crab cake starter was not very good at all. Maybe it was because we’re spoiled and have had Louisiana crab cakes and other really good crab cakes. The kids burger was over done and not edible for the kids. The shrimp and crab salad was good. Overall disappointed

This seems to be the new spot to be for both locals and tourists. They have great drinks and seafood. We enjoyed our visit. The service was great despite the place being super busy. It's also situated in the best spot in San Diego, perfect for sunset views and downtown skyline. We had the Halibut, crab stuffed prawns and delicious oysters. I recommend their oysters, Im sure they are better during happy hour when, 3 for $5! The rose spritz was delicious as well. Can't wait to come back.

My wife and I been wanted to check this restaurant out since it opened. We ate here lunch time and It was a very disappointing experience. We wanted to seat outside but was told it's only for reservations. I asked to speak to the Manager on duty and all of the sudden they have available table for us but it was all the way to the corner. I seemed to noticed that Asian people are seated on the very back corner where we at. After we ate our lunch, as we walk out of the restaurant, I have noticed that there's plenty of open tables outside by the front. The next day, I discovered that I have left my credit card at the restaurant when I paid for our meal. I called the place immediately and spoke to someone and explained that I left my cc. As she was writing down my information, a manager who heard I was looking for my cc told the person that I was talking to that they. y cc on hand. Right away I told them that I will be right over. But it was weird that when I got there in less than one hour, no one couldn't find my cc. Quantine a young gentleman took my information and was told their busy at the moment and that he will call me soon as he has time to look for my cc. Well, he never did so I called again the next day and same thing someone took my information and told me someone will call me back. The customer service in this place is very unprofessional. They have young people working here who doesn't know customer service. They pick customer of their choice who they think can give the most tips. I believe some of them seems racist, as I mentioned that they seats mostly Asians all the way in the back corner. Manager should examine their day to day operations and will find out what I'm talking about. Six days later, after I provided them my information, no one ever called about my lost credit card. Yes, my cc statement stated that this place was the last place I used it. We will never come back to restaurant ever again!!
Harbor View and Excellent Seafood!
Grilled oysters were superb! Shrimp cocktail was really good! Fish & Chips and Sand Dabs were cooked to perfection! Mud pie for dessert was ENORMOUS - enough for 4 people to share! The restaurant wasn't crowded mid-afternoon, and we had window seating. Excellent service, with no rush. Enjoyed the leisurely, excellent meal and the harbor view!
