Arrived at 9:15 with a short wait and sat at the bar with great service! Coffee is served with warmed cream and your cup is never empty! Wait staff is very helpful to explain anything on the menu if you have any questions. Plan on a wait if you arrive anytime after 9:30, but it's well worth it!

Expect a wait on weekends, like today (waited 40 min for a party of 4), but would absolutely do it again. Food is spectacular - exactly what I've come to expect when in Portland. Can definitely see why my friends love this place.

Our service was excellent and our food was outstanding. We arrived at 9:00 a.m. and were seated immediately. When we left approximately 90 minutes later, the line was all the way down the street! This is obviously the "it" place for a weekend breakfast. Would definitely go again! I had the Swedish pancakes with lemon curd and lingonberry jam, delicious but high carb; everyone else in our group went with eggs. Those looked great!

The food was AMAZING! We went for brunch. The prices were excellent, as was the service. Inside seemed a little loud so we ate out on the patio. It was lovely! Would love to go back but we live in New Hampshire!

Part of the reason we visit Portland so often is because it is a foodies paradise. Broder Nord is no exception and may be our new favorite place to eat. We were here for Sunday brunch and arrived at the perfect time: no wait and we were seated in one of the super-cool pods. Coffee was great, service was fast and attentive. The menu was interesting and since we'd never really had Scandinavian food before we went a little crazy and got a little bit of everything! There were lots of vegetarian options to choose from. The ableskiver and lefse were everyone's overall favorite I think. We also had at the table the Lost Eggs, Pyett lPanna, smoked trout and the Uunipuuro. There were four of us eating and we left completely stuffed. There was a line out the door so I was really happy that we had gotten there when we did. We will definitely be back.

I ordered a fried oyster sandwich w the crispy smashed potatoes on 9/10/18 @ 1:15 PM. Not busy at all w one other customer. Shortly after that, 4 or 5 groups of 2 people per group came in and placed their orders. My server came back about after I ordered saying Sorry for the delay. It will be here shortly. Fifteen mins later, now a total of 30 mins after ordering, and seeing others get their food, I suspected something was wrong. I went and asked another server, possibly she was the manager, and she looked at the slips and rushed to my server. Both returned and they apologized as it was NEVER put it. Said it was busy. No. It was busy after I ordered. Not an excuse. It wasnt too busy for him to chat with another customer for, I guess, 5 minutes. Attached is a picture of him getting very comfy, leg on the bench seat, in that conversation. Enough that he didnt think to ask about my order. The mgr?? asked what she could do. My reply...give me back my 30 minutes. Well, that couldn't be done. She suggested a comp meal or box of pastries? No thanks. I didnt come in for a free meal or sweets. The moment had passed and it would have been a miserable meal. I would have given zero star if possible.

A truly authentic taste of Scandinavia. I had the Smorrebrod, which I only knew of from my Danish friend. I tried it in his honor and was not at all dissatisfied! The dark rye bread is exactly how I want my Danish bread to taste, a little bit harder than I anticipated but delicious none the less. The pork terrine is really flavorful, it's not at all gross like mystery meat or a weird funky mortadella. Even thought the sandwich was cold, it had the perfect level of warmth to where it felt cooked and not just like you pulled it out of the refrigerator. My friend had the Lost Eggs, which is the creamiest and most decadent egg breakfast I've had in a long time. Like eating creamed spinach with poached eggs. Absolutely delicious. I intend on coming back soon!

Broder Nord was one of my favorite restaurants in Portland not least because it's so different from what I'm used to. I'm in the NYC area and this isn't a common cuisine at all. We were there for brunch and loved the food. I was unfamiliar with all the dishes but everything I tried was delicious. I had coffee rather than a mixed drink but there was a great looking list of Swedish-themed cocktails. I wish I'd had time to eat there again for dinner and have the drinks, but unfortunately I didn't. The decor inside was unlike anything I'd ever seen and super interesting. It was kind of cold inside, there was a garage door in the front that was left partially open on an overcast ~55 degree day, so I was glad I had a hoodie to wear.

There were nearly a dozen people waiting when we got there, but we couldn't ask to find out how long the wait would be as no one ever greeted us. We only figured it out after about 20 min, when someone came to the front, looked at a clipboard and called someone over, without even acknowledging the other people waiting. There were several large picnic style tables in the front of the restaurant that would have sat every person waiting; but for some reason they were not being used, only the handful of 2-4 person tables were open in the back. We realized at that point it was probably going to be at least an hour and left. No matter how popular or hip a restaurant is, they fail if they can't even handle basic courtesy or service.

Last week while making my travel plans for Portland, OR I did a bit of research on restaurants in the area. There was one that was on my “must try” list; Broder. There are four of these Nordic Cafes in Portland, and Broder Nord was within walking distance of my hotel and is where I had a late breakfast/early lunch. I started with the Norwegian Punch, a delightful concoction made with Linie Aquavit, Brandy, Orange & Lingonberry. There were several enticing options on the menu, but I chose the Lefse special. I had been eating Lefse since I was a child, always with butter and sugar as a sweet treat for the winter holidays. This was Lefse filled with a smoked trout mousse and topped with two soft baked eggs and fresh greens. When I first heard the waiter say “mousse,” I missed the whole trout part thinking he said “moose.” Moose or elk as they call it in the Nordic countries was a delicacy I have not enjoyed since the last time I was in Finland and Norway. My brain caught up with me, and I decided smoked trout was an excellent option. It was a delicious combination of flavors and textures which I enjoyed immensely. I finished my repaste with a cappuccino and a Danish Butter Crown for dessert. If you enjoy Nordic cuisine, you will want to try Broder.

My wife and I had dinner here on a recent Thursday evening. The dining area was bathed in early evening sunshine, the background music was great, the service friendly and the right amount of attentive. We each had a house recipe cocktail, and they were delicious: innovative without being unduly weird. We ordered and shared five dishes, three of which were starters and two more substantial. All were great. If the sunchoke soup is on the menu, you will regret not ordering it. The Swedish meatballs were great, as was the fiskboard, which had a nice variety of the fresh and the smoked. The experience reminded us of a dinner in Copenhagen a couple of summers ago, at a highly touted place with a big cool factor. Broder Nord was every bit as enjoyable, and a true bargain by comparison.

Arrived at 12:30ish on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. We were surprised that there were several parties in front of us, but the guy who took our name said we would be seated "soonish". That seemed like a reasonable bet since there were several empty tables when I scanned the rather large room. Unlike the Division Broder, this space is ample and roomy. So, we made our way to the "bar" to chat. After a half hour (we check our cell phone) a server came over to ask us if we wanted any drinks. I mentioned that I had a medical appointment and needed to be out the door at 2:00. She hesitated ... and went to confer with the other guy who was working the floor. They slipped us in (which I felt bad about, actually) and we sat down. We insisted on ordering instantly -- because I had observed another table had to wait fifteen minutes even for someone to take their order. I ordered a veggie sandwich, and she asked me what other sandwich I wanted to go with it. Or a side. I was confused, felt rushed and we settled on a pancake. (Sweet and savory sounded good.) It took a long while to get our food and we had to eat hastily in order to make it out the door at 2:00. (They dropped off our check pronto and took our money also quickly.) But here is what broke this camel's back ... I didn't get the dish I ordered. It was a veggie omlet ... that didn't in any way resemble the "sandwich" I had ordered. But, it was late, I just ate it anyway. I didn't check to see what I was charged for ... I just wanted out. The pancake was delicious, by the way. And what my friend ordered looked great and tasted even better ... In the end, I felt that there's no way two people can serve a floor as big as the one they had. With all the wheeling and dealing in the end -- it took a hour and a half for lunch. And it was stressful. Not going back.

It was a Saturday morning breakfast so had to wait 10mins for a table. Which is not a long wait. The place is clean and well decked out. Coffee excellent with the staff just as good. I ordered the special Lost Eggs. Pulled pork with baked eggs. Very good although the baked eggs were really raw. They were busy.

This place has the best brunch in Portland, although on the weekends the line can be very long (up to 45 minutes)! Still, it is worth the wait, and you can go on the weekdays if you don't want to endure a long line. The pytt y panna with smoked trout is superb, although my Swedish boyfriend swears by the lefse. However, my personal favorite if you're looking for something lighter is the Swedish breakfast smorgasbord...absolutely incredible, with so much to offer (yogurt and granola, fruits, Swedish cracker bread, brown bread, a side, meats, smoked trout, and cheese). Some people love the danish pancakes, but I found them a bit heavy and boring for my taste. The drinks are amazing too, and the Malmo Mule is one of my the best drinks I've had in Portland.

We've been here several times. First you have to find parking on the street, then the wait it quite long, unless you get lucky. I ordered Swedish hash with smoke trout, it was a bit greasy but good. Don't forget to order their Aebleskiver (Danish pancake) paired with lemon curd and lingonberry jam was quite tasty.

Interesting, savory, sweet, authentic Nordic fare. Great service and a varied menu make for a unique culinary experience in Portland.

Went here for brunch and I was blown away. I'll admit I wasn't expecting much, since I had little to no idea what Nordic food was outside of IKEA meatballs and pickled fish, but it was one of the best meals of my trip. Everything was really fresh and the flavors were complex and paired things I never would have expected. The environment of the restaurant was great as well. I will definitely be going back!

Nice variety of various Nordic foods. Most of our breakfast/brunch was tasty, although 2 items were not what we ordered. Ordered bacon and got sausage which was ok. The aebleskiver (Danish pancakes) were heavy and hard to cut. We make these at least twice a year and are much lighter and tasty. Not often that I make something better than a restaurant! All in all it was a nice place to eat. Won’t go again next time we get to Portland.

I went for a trip to Portland and this place was recommended as the best for morning coffee and breakfast. I totally agree with this! Very good food, but be careful there might be a queue.

A pleasant surprise for this Norwegian girl.. delightful atmosphere, excellent waitstaff, and the offerings were many. I had the baked eggs which were done just right. We got to sit in back in one of the enclosed booth which was kinda fun. Even the bathroom was a change from the rest... you’ll have to see for yourself. I Will be back!!!

We met some friends there. Happening place - a bit hard to find. The food was great. They serve Lefse in a very different way than I have had before. We all enjoyed our meal!

We are always skeptical when visiting a "new" location of a good restaurant (like Broder on Clinton). In this case, somebody is paying attention to the management of Broder Nord because it remains every bit as good as the original. Food creative and excellent, very good coffee, service the best. Appreciate convenience to the MAX line.

We decided to try this place out on a Sunday for brunch - knowing it's quite popular, we didn't mind waiting for a while; however, when we finally were seated, it took 20 minutes for the server to come to the table (and he was actually the host as well - so they seem to be understaffed). We ordered æbleskivers, the nord bord, and a Swedish hash. The æbleskivers were cold and had a bread-like texture, unlike the usual texture/consistency of them that I've grown up knowing. The rest of the food was okay, nothing special. It was all very nicely presented and the bread we were given was delicious and the best part of the meal. We were quickly given the bill before we were finished eating, which I haven't experienced before... I know they're busy but maybe they should have taken our order quicker and we would have been out faster.

We had brunch at Broder Nord and it was quite good. The Lost Egg and the Baked Egg Scramble were tasty. We enjoyed our experience here.

Went for breakfast Didnt have to wait long We got coffee and a bloody mary which was Really Good!!! With pickled beets Then i got a frittata type thing with side of sausage and everything tasted amazing Service was fast and friendly and its a really nice space too Id go back for sure

I went to the Broder Nord with my girlfriend during our annual trip. My girlfriend had come across this restaurant on researching things to do in Portland. The location is a little out of the way, based on our knowledge of Portland, which isn't much. But it was worth the drive. My friend and I split 5 smaller dishes for dinner. We had the hasselback potatoes, aebelskivers, a tuna dish, grilled peaches and cod dish (sorry I don't remember the names and they aren't listed on the online menu). My favorites were the aebelskivers, the peaches, and the potato dishes. The tuna dish was okay, but then I don't think I care for tuna steaks. The fish dish was a little to salty to me. The waiter was very helpful in choosing the dishes and I did enjoy the meal. I would go back.

Visited this restaurant and our easy order of their danish pancakes and two breakfast sandwiches must have gotten lost. After 30+ minutes waiting, I looked at my receipt for the order time of 11:59AM. I asked about our order and was told they were busy and only had three chefs in the kitchen. No problem. 20minutes later (now literally nearly an hour), I asked again and was told five minutes. Then ten minutes later our food still wasn’t out but the people seated next to us got theirs (and sat down WELL after us). I get it about being busy and even get it that orders get lost and there are occasional glitches. But in the business, just OWN it and apologize (and be really great by comping my coffee or something). Don’t make excuses even when I ask politely a total of three times after a one-hour wait for food. This was Ridiculous and not at all a great business practice in a foodie town with so many options. I recommend eating elsewhere on principal bc they handled this SO poorly. Disappointing, to be sure.

We had breakfast at Broder Nord and enjoyed the experience. The menu choices seem to represent Swedish foods (though I'm not experience with Swedish cuisine so can't testify to its authenticity). I had the lefsa stuffed with ham and cheese with a slaw on top of the oven cooked eggs which was quite tasty. One of us had the Baked egg scramble with asparagus, oyster mushrooms and chevre which was pronounced good as well. We shared an order of aebleskivers (a spherical donut) which were light and very good. The portions were VERY generous. The coffee was okay but in a coffee town like Portland it would be considered fair...much like a stereotype Swedish coffee, perhaps. It was a satisfying breakfast in a spare setting that was a bit noisy. I'd go back again just to try some of the other interesting sounding offerings.

If you want a feast that involves tasting most of the menu, then the Smorgasbord is the way to go. We got to try so many different things and the timing was absolutely perfect with the dishes coming out just as we were on the last bite of the previous dish. Everything we had tasted great, the highlights were the steak tartare, the smoked trout yummm, salt cod croquettes and the 20 minute chicken. The only thing that would've made this perfect would've been a small taste of something sweet for dessert... although we didn't really have any room for it. The service was great, the food was something different and there was plenty of it!

My Hubs is of Scandanavian descent. I've had me many a meatball (and lefse and smoked fish). What a unique treat to have Kottbullar in creamy sherry sauce instead of gravy! I almost licked the plate. My one very small complaint is that I prefer meatballs with a fine texture, these are,for sure, more "homestyle." My son had the Nord Board, a sampling of varied treats. I also had a truly lovely elderflower mimosa! A great take on Scandanavian cuisine!

Our party had everything from breakfast to cocktails, and there wasn't a clinker in the bunch. This is a real immersion into Norwegian cuisine, as the menu doesn't have a small section of burgers and the like. My apple fritters featured a firm foundation of cardamom, and the inventive specialty cocktails are heavy on the aquavit. If you come for breakfast don't be put off by the fact that the eggs are all 'soft baked', as the yolks are firm. A breath of fresh air, friendly, and thoroughly delicious.

Had the spinach crepe (?) with two eggs on top. Delish! Just two minute walk from White Eagle, very clean, and price was good. Friend said Bloody Mary was terrific. Full crowd middle of the week for brunch. We did good.

I love European food so I was really excited to come here. They have a nice variety. I was also impressed by their decor and vibe. I think it's really special to have a place that serves Scandinavian food so I would definitely recommend it!

we happened upon this place when we stayed at the white eagle. its an unassuming neighborhood and we were impressed with the quality of the food and service. my husband loved his swedish bord breakfast. my baked eggs were a tad on the bland/boring/overcooked side, but i enjoyed the potatoes and cream and the breads. just a little something different. we were glad we tried it!

I've been wanting to try one of the Broder venues for years, and finally made it to the Broder Nord. The food was tasty, but the mandatory 18% tip was a huge turnoff. Customers should get to decide how much gratuity -- if any -- should be added to the final bill, not the restaurant. The service was adequate -- it just consisted of bringing food to the table. That's not worth an additional 18%. There are a lot of other great breakfast places in Portland that are a lot cheaper.

Funky vibe and really good food. Interesting Nordic menu. This place was on our list from day one on our visit to Portland. We came during the week in early afternoon and it was not crowded. The area is industrial and there’s little around except for a nice art gallery. Great service and good desserts as well. Nothing else like this place except of course their other locations.

Are you ready for some meatballs? Broder Nord has them in a thick sherry cream sauce. With lingonberries. As far from Ikea as you'll ever imagine. Round foods don't stop there! Abelskivers are on the menu, too, to satisfy your doughnut hole cravings in a less greasy way. I love the very Scandanavian essence at Broder Nord. Spare interior, lots of natural light. The Hash is a favorite here, with a choice of meat and the lovely pickled beets. Sadly, I've not tried their Lefse. I make my own, so it would be a hard sell. Downside: I felt kind of "crammed in" with my fellow diners and service is relaxed. The imaginative cocktails and good coffee help with those problems. A great taste of Sweden.

Such a great breakfast. To start, we had coffee while we waited. To me, waiting is a good sign! If we have to wait, it must be worth it. We probably only waited about 15 minutes and had a great spot outside with great coffee. Then, we were seated in a booth that was surrounded by incredible wood work. It was somewhat private and we could still be a part of the vibe of the restaurant. I had the best breakfast cocktail (I believe it had Lingonberrry), and the food was filling and delicious. Definitely worth the trip!

Four of us visited on Saturday, September 30,2017, around 9:15AM. We had about a 10 minute wait. There was coffee and water available while we waited. Staff is friendly and efficient. The space is small and offers a pleasant atmosphere for a pleasing dining experience. Breakfast food selections are plentiful, making it hard to choose. I enjoyed the fresh scone with lemon curd and a potato pancake. My sister enjoyed the baked egg scrambled which was similar to a frittata. My nephew enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and his girlfriend enjoyed her breakfast like wrap with pork belly(Lefse). Tasty food and not ordinary American breakfast selections. When we left, the people waiting were out the door. A good breakfast dining experience.

Perhaps we have come to expect food nirvana at all Portland Restaurants and so our expectations are too high. Were I to have this food in Seattle or Los Angeles I would undoubtedly think it was pretty good. Unfortunately, standing against knock out Portland food, it is just "fine". I had the recommended Swedish Hash with smoked trout. My Dad makes a smoked black cod that makes your eyes roll back in your head with pleasure. This smoked trout had very little flavor either of smoke or of a good white fish. The trout sat over a bed of potato hash that looked like it "could" have come from the costco frozen section, but I am sure it did not. On top were two eggs. It was supposed to come with pickled beets. It had four small pea-sized pieces of beet. The hazelnut bread was very good. My husband had the stockholm dog, another recommended item, with the shrimp salad wrapped in with it. The dog is wrapped in potato lefse, with dill and mustard. It looked great and he said it was good enough. Perhaps it is hard to be brilliant with scandinavian food, but from a region that produces lutefisk, kranskake, and glogg, so there has to be more potential than this. Service was very good. Prices were good. Coffee was potent and fresh. Atmosphere is slightly quirky and so we liked that. Would we go again? Maybe in a year or two. There were some interesting things on the menu to try in the future.

We arrived early and didn’t have to wait. We were seated in this cute private little area. Service and food were excellent. I would highly recommend

We loved to this place! The breakfast sandwich with bacon jam was to die for. Everyone who ordered at our table got something different and we shared. Yummyx5

First time to Broder Nord, although I've been to Broder Sellwood multiple times. This one is just as good. Food was terrific. All our dishes for a party of four were great. Aeblescivers and Griddle Cakes were wonderful. Funky interior, which was cool. At 10 a.m. on a Friday, we waited for about 15 minutes before being seated. That's typical. Go early.

One of my best buddies took me here when I visited from OZ and he went up another notch in my esteem for introducing me to this delicious foodie delight. I don't need to write much. I'm just going to let the pictures do the talking.

Must go! Great food-great service-great atmosphere!! Worth the wait.................. You won't be disappointed.

Have you ever found yourself at that table in a restaurant that seems to be invisible and void of service? Well that is where I was at brunch recently. There did not seem to be a clear assignment as to who should wait on us. I think that started the snowball rolling. A wait staff person noticed we hadn't been waited on and took our order 15 minutes after we were seated. We ordered drinks, appetizers, food all at once fearful that was our only shot. 40 minutes later, no drinks or appetizers. I was ready to walk out but my friend manages a restaurant and went over to check. Drinks came. They had been sitting at the bar for the 40 minutes and no one bother to bring them to us. Then a complimentary cinnamon roll and a few minutes later, our appetizer. Shortly after the appetizer, my friends entree arrived, but not mine. She also asked for salt/pepper and butter. None of those items every showed up either. I told her to eat and by the time they checked on us again, she was finishing and my order never showed up. I can't remember a time when I experienced such horrible service with one failure after another on our order. Two hours in, we were offered one drink and a cinnamon roll. I never did get to eat. For as long as it took for our food to come, if they had been on top of our cocktails at least, we could have been on our 3rd cocktail and perhaps in better mood about the food failures. Isn't that where the higher margin is as well in a restaurant? Won't be rushing back to any of their locations any time soon. Not sure life is long enough for this level of no service and no food. I appreciate their apologies but ultimately, they were just words and never resulted in action or changes to the level of service we received, which was zero. Avoid and save yourself the stress.

Terrible service. right from the moment we stepped foot in this terribly small restaurant, we felt glared up and down by the stoney acting host. When we were being seated, we requested that our bigger party be seated in an area that wasn't so crammed. They refused and said it was only for larger parties, then sat a party with the same number of who came in the same time as us. Once we ordered, the host took around 15 minutes to come around. Finally, he came to take our order in which I ordered one of the many items with cheese. I specified, "no cheese" please. Then, once the food was brought out the host brought out the only meal that did not include cheese, which would not make sense for me to note "no cheese" obviously being the wrong entree. Between this time, I was ignored and my water had been empty. He apologized, and 10 minutes later came out with a scorching hot pan without noting it may be hot. I took a bite, and lo & behold he brought out an item filled with cheese. Very very upset, already being delayed 20 minutes after the rest of my party was finished eating they tried to lie to my face and say that they had no cheese.

What wonderful food the Scandinavian folks eat for breakfast. Lots of meat, fish, cheese served up fresh with coffee and lots of pickled dishes and some wonderful baked goods. This casual place has great service and wonderful food!

We found this place entirely on accident, when trying to get to a park. It had started raining, so we decided to duck in for a drink. They have an interesting menu of drinks and food. The aebleskiver with lemon curd and lingenberry jam were amazing! The hot chocolate is also very good, and made in house.

It took me a long time to warm up to broder, but my wife finally won me over. I don't know if the menu has changed, or nord has a different menu from SE, but I like what they have now!

Great food in an informal and sophisticated industrial space; all the egg dishes are really well done. Parking is easy, and light rail station just across the street.

Excellent Scandinavian food. My wife and I shared a large (6-piece) order of aebleskivers with lemon curd and lingonberry jam dipping sauces and they disappeared quickly. For the main course, I had a Tunnbrödsrulle, a grilled beef frank garnished with a potato pancake, shrimp salad, mustard and pickles, stuffed into flatbread. The only issue I have with this restaurant is that it is *LOUD*. If they added a couple of Swedish rugs to hang on some of the walls, it would do a lot to soften the noisy atmosphere; turning the background music down a bit would help, too.

Everything about it was superlative after repeated breakfast vists. The food was delicious, fresh, and original - with morning cocktails to match. The espresso was perfect. The place has style, and so does the friendly staff. The space is modern, well designed, and gets plenty of natural light. Definitely one of my top two or three breakfast places in the US.

Portland seems to do a lot of fusion restaurants, so Broder Nord was a nice change of pace. The food was excellent, authentic, and the atmosphere was really great. Everything was great, from the dark hot chocolate to the pastries to the main dishes. I'd highly recommend Broder Nord.

My local friend brought me here for brunch on a Sunday around noon. While we ended up waiting for an hour (they have free coffee while you wait!), it was entirely worth it. Staff were quite friendly, and the baked eggs are softer than anything I've ever experienced. Other Americanized staples, like bacon and sausage, are very nicely done, but those with more adventurous palates should go for the more Nordic dishes. To avoid the 1-2 hr wait on Sat/Sun, go early or late. By the time we got seated, the place really cleared out (~1-2pm).

Travelling thru Portland we were told to go to Broder Nord for breakfast. We arrived at 9:30 h on a Sunday morning and already had to stand in line. The wait was worth it. Great Scandinavian pastry and delicious variations on eggs.

Great Scandinavian brunch! Came here just before 10am on a Sunday morning. Restaurant quickly filled up after we arrived, so if you don't want to wait, come early. The food brought back pleasant memories of my trip to Norway/Sweden a couple years ago. The danish "pancakes" are more like begneits and is not to be missed. Try them with a couple different dipping sauces.

The food, service, and design are all simple yet fully satisfying and done perfectly. This place is all about detail, from the appointments of the smallish dining room (brass table tops and slightly low and reclined arm chairs) to the fact that the milk for my coffee has been heated or that my eggs are perfectly cooked every time and have been seasoned. Easily the best restaurant in North Portland.

Smells great walking in. My blt was tasty but...it was open faced on a single slice of small bread. The bacon was crumbled. Served with a steak knife, which I thought best to use, it made for awkward dining. The salad too needed a knife. So this hip place serves whole butter lettuce leaves (dressed) and broken up bacon. High food quality plus Portland pretensions.

Great food, great space, Good service. 1 star because they impose an 18% gratuity when you order at the counter no less! Ummm no!!! I decided what I tip not you FFS! 1st time last time. Literally never have I seen this done anywhere else. Maybe if it's a large party and there is an actual waiter that comes to your table. It was just me standing at the counter and having my tip dictated to me!

Place is beautiful and the atmosphere is nice service was great, food was super tasty and prices were fair. I had one of the best coffees while Portland! I highly recommend

Saw Broder's on Andrew Zimmern's show. It was fabulous. It is right at a Max (light rail) stop. We were visiting for a week. Went twice. The Danish pancakes are to die for. We also had Lost Eggs and Swedish Hash - both delicious. The service was impeccable

Decided to check this place out as it was highly recommended for breakfast on FourSquare. I like Swedish food so was interested to give this place a try. The atmosphere is a little sparse with a industrial feel. Think lots of cement and metal. I found the room a little cold when visiting in April. First up I am sad to say the coffee was terrible. Thankfully the breakfast was not. (See picture) Delicious links and interesting square eggs. The pancakes were delicious. I was here on a monday around 9am. Not overly busy. I am unsure what this place is like over the weekends but I imagine its popular.

We had an okay brunch here. We waited for awhile to get in, so maybe it was the wait that turned us off. The food was just eh especially after having to wait to get in and wait for the food. Probably wont choose to go back with all of the other places to try in the area

Tried this place for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Really great options for vegetarians, amazing yet not filled aepleskiever - strongly to recommend. Drinks and dished end up on a rather expensive site for brunch but worth a trip. Bring time though, Saturdays you'll expect a wait of about half an hour or more in most cases, no reservations. Hence the 4/5.

Wonderful food, often a queue in the midst of businesses, which on a Saturday or Sunday makes street parking okay. It is a variety of Scandinavian food aebleskivers, herring and imaginative names for a variety of egg dishes. Try the herring salad a side you can order with your meal. Also great are the baked goods with the traditional cardamon added to the dough. The coffee is great with heated cream or milk. Lingonberry jam comes with many of the offerings. They have a bar and offer special a Bloody Mary with aquavit. Closed Monday, open 9am til 3pm.

We heard that the wait at the Nord can be long. I think we arrived in between the hot times and lucked in to only a 10 minute wait for a table. When we left the line was quite a bit longer. Very interesting menu of Swedish items. We were here for breakfast today and the wide variety of offerings made the choice difficult. I tried the Pytt I Panna, a Swedish hash (I had the pork belly – other options were smoked trout our roasted corn/mushrooms) which was delicious. Interesting that it was cooked in a small square pan which gave the eggs on top their unusual shape. The Aebelskivers (Danish pancakes) were tasty little round balls of goodness. I had the hot chocolate which was tasty. Others tried the Glugg which is a spiced wine – they even provided a small spoon for us to get the raisins off the bottom when we finished. Our server was an adorable young lady who kept watch on us and ensured we were satisfied. I felt the prices were reasonable for what we ordered.

Come here with a group if you can so you can sample all the great food! The food was seriously so good, I got mad that I was full and couldn't finish it all! SO GOOD!

Four of us had a marvelous Scandinavian brunch. It was great to be seated in one of two private rooms (almost like a pod made of jenga pieces). We all ordered something different and everything was great. Be sure to get the 'mimosa' type drink made with elder flower liquor.
Delightful Breakfast
My friend and I each had a Classic Two Egg Breakfast with bacon. As a bonafide potato freak, I opted for the raggmunk (potato pancake), a large, rather flat "pancake" of shredded potatoes, crisp and browned on the outside but soft within. It was a perfect base for sopping up the soft baked eggs. My friend opted for the griddle cake and said she enjoyed it. Don't miss the pastries you'll find at the counter where you order breakfast, as some are very tasty. Another tip: go early and/or on a weekday. This place must be a madhouse on the weekends.
