Worst breakfast in a long time

By Joan W |

YUCK!! Mom omelette should have been called the onion omelette. Nothing savory about it. First listed ingredient was spinach but could not find any in my meal. At $16 each it is a complete ripoff and utter disappointment!!

Breakfast all day or until 3pm

By ouchfirehot |

I stayed at the Residence Inn across the street, so the Broken Yolk was an easy, convenient choice for lunch. The storefront sign said it had late night meals, but actually it doesn't because it closes at 3pm. My colleague had a massive breakfast burrito, and i had the sopes. Portion size was large, so I am pretty sure I overate. This place must also be very good because they sell branded tshirts.

Great Breakfast

By johnpV4713TS |

We went in for breakfast before a fun day in San Diego. If you are in hotel circle take time to visit this place. Good service and good food. Price is Right.

Brilliant breakfast in the Gaslamp District

By 376Kate |

The breakfast here was so good that we came every day we were in town. The menu has everything you could want, the service is great and the food never disappoints

Our new favorite breakfast spot

By KRIS10L |

Visiting San Diego from out of town and found this place on the way to the Midway. We went two of the four days we were there. The portions are huge. The kids menu (and activity sheet) was awesome. The food is amazing. This is one of the few restaurants where my kids will eat their entire meal. The coffee was perfect. The giant patio had plenty of seating. This will be on the agenda for all future trips!

Decent sport for breakfast

By es c |

Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Food was good and nicely portioned. Had the vegetarian Mom omelet which came with toast & fruit.

Great place for breakfast

By NNWSLARRY |

Went to eat here a couple of times and the food and the service were always good. I usually eat early in the morning so there was never a wait for a table. A great place to start off the day.

Just right for breakfast

By bddNewEngland |

This is just the right alternative to overpriced hotel breakfasts. It's right in the middle of Gaslamp. The "before 8 am" specials worked well for me. Service was fine but not instant, since the food is cooked to order. There are low calorie choices as well as the usual American fried everything. I did notice that there was a long line for Sunday lunch, so perhaps call ahead. Weekday breakfast was not an issue.

Great breakfast with lots of vegan and vegetarian options.

By Sara |

Delicious breakfast with a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. Huge portions. Nice and kind staff. Highly recommending.

Open Early for Early Risers or Those on East Coast Time

By KayteeHC |

Still on East Coast time, this was the perfect place for coffee and breakfast on a Saturday morning. Waitstaff freindly and helpful. Egg White veggie omelette was good, but had too many kalamata olives in it making it a bit salty. Would have like to have a bit of feta in it.

Visited twice during a weeklong

By Beach_Addict |

Visited twice during a weeklong Christmas break in Gaslamp Quarter. A huge menu with enough options that everyone can find something to eat. Staff and servers are all friendly and efficient. My corned beef hash was ok (short on corned beef). The fresh OJ was good and it was just a good, friendly and convenient option for us. The prices are reasonable and the portions are pretty decent.

BEST BREAKFAST in GAS LAMP , they have HUEVOS!!

By GasDoc9 |

Wonderful Staff and Service with an exceptional menu and selections!! Enjoyed the flight of BLOODY MARY’S!! The Benedict selection was fantastic!

Great breakfast

By Tanya S |

Well rated testaurants so wanted to try it. The coffee was very good. I had the huevos con chorizo as did 2 others at the table. Our other colleague had the biscuits and gravy. She also had a grapefruit juice. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

Huge choice of breakfasts and brunch options

By SuchFun |

We were staying at a nearby hotel and came here for a family breakfast. Everything was perfect, from the service, huge choice of breakfast options, food quality, speed and value. Highly recommended.

Typical, tasty US cuisine

By enjoyer2017 |

Ideal breakfast spot in the heart of Palm Springs. The large menu offers many variations of US breakfast food. The restaurant is located in 1. Stock. Breakfast on the small terrace, overlooking the main street of Palm Springs is a treat. Tip: Egg Benedict in two variants per dish offers tasty variety. The friendly staff motivated us to visit several times.

Great start to the day

By giles901 |

Dropped in before setting off to Anaheim for Angels game vs Cincinnati Reds. My friend had a waffle doused in cream and maple syrup, while I the yoghurt granola with fruit. Had nicest possible run in with local law enforcement from Coronado. In addition to regular fare there's also the BYC challenge which involves a dozen egg omelette plus home fries etc to be consumed by one in less than an hour!

Great menu and Gluten Free

By Jolsies |

This place is delicious! We were staying at the Marriott Marquis and it’s a short walk. It’s very easy to find. They have indoor and outdoor seating. My husband is gluten free and their pancakes were delicious! We appreciated how careful they were to prevent cross contamination. Our waitress was amazing and was constantly checking on us. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone.

Egg lovers delight

By rlisicki |

Super generous portions and very reasonably priced. Went twice for breakfast, on both days went early and restaurant was quiet. Service was prompt and friendly, around just enough and never reel rushed. Egg skillets and omelets are both good, and French Toast is uniquely sweet but not too much for breakfast, highly recommend

Lots of Food to Enjoy

By Lofalot |

we had breakfast here a couple of days. Both days the food was excellent. More food than I could finish and great prices. The fruit that came with my breakfast was amazing! Go early if you can. The line was out the door by 9:00 am.

Gluten free pancakes are the best

By Farmer Al |

Service is fast and the food is excellent. Loved the gluten-free pancakes. Was in and out quickly so I could make my morning meetings.

Was okay

By Bo94114 |

Stopped for lake breakfast. Eggs benedict was overcooked. Savoury crepes tasted off. The service was very good. Maybe it was an off day, but I do not plan on returning

Fun Place For Breakfast

By 88AVANTI |

Big menu of American and Mexican breakfast choices. Food is fresh and the portions generous. Service is quick and friendly. Prices a little on the high side, but that's to be expected near the conference center.

Nice breakfast with great food

By Aloha H |

Great food and service with outdoor dinning. We had the Açaí bowl and avo on toast with poached eggs. Both were done well! Serafin was pleasant and efficient, door guy was polite but not as friendly. Restaurant clean and atmosphere relaxed for a Monday morning. Would definitely return

Reasonable Prices - Great Food

By E_Rodgers82 |

Google Maps recommended The Broken Yolk, and I'm glad they did. Great service, good portions and very decent prices. I had the Noname omelette, delicious.

Recommend!

By SmilesMom |

We ordered breakfast three times while we were in San Diego through Uber Eats. Food was very good (pancakes, avocado toast, sausages, etc) but what set this restaurant apart was the take out packaging! It was placed nicely in thr containers and they didn't spill, leak, or shift. Very nice! Will go again when visiting San Diego.

Fresh Quality, Amazingly Fun

By ProducerA |

Our server was knowledgeable, gave suggestions on things to do, fun, he was simply amazing. We ate here every day. The fruit is all fresh, ripe and flavorful. Gluten Free pancakes are light and both the “Mom” & “Greek” Omelettes are original and full of flavor. Order bacon! I’m picky with my coffee, I like it black and our server never allowed my cup to get less than half full before appearing out of nowhere to provide a welcome refill. The chef’s are engaged changing up the menus. The Yolk is kept clean, even the “Big Ass Fan” overhead

New favorite breakfast spot!

By dmbondemand |

The variety and quality of food is over the top and the prices are very reasonable. There was plenty of outdoor seating and we haven't had to wait more than 5 mins to be seated. We've tried a big variety of their offerings and haven't been disappointed yet! We will be bringing friends/family here when they visit and we finally have a favorite breakfast spot in San Diego!

Excellent breakfast at a very reasonable price

By John D |

We really enjoyed this. The food was great and the staff were very friendly. We had Monte Cristo's. It's been years since I had one and these were perfect

Breakfast

By Ateleob84 |

Decent breakfast, quick. Recommend. Large selection and daily specials offered 6-8am. Ate here at least 4x for breakfast before work obligations.

Best Chilaquiles even from Mexico

By Sunshine480007 |

This is my 4th visit to this place. The red and green chilaquiles are the best Great taste but not too spicy. The consistensy of the chilaquiles are crispy and full of flavor with each bite.

Best Breakfast Burrito and Amazing Service!!!

By Renae G |

Wasn't going to have enough time to order and eat so we were going to leave the restaurant when the owner assured us that they could get our order out fast enough to make our flight. And they did!!! Such kind customer service! And the BEST California Breakfast Burrito that I'm still dreaming about eating another one!!! We WILL be back when we are back in San Diego!!

Great spot for an early breakfast; open from 6am

By Chizzamerica |

Needed an early breakfast one morning in San Diego when there on business. Found the Broken Yolk open & friendly. Had a delicious and very filling omelette! Couldn’t fault it. The bottomless cup of coffee was of standard taste; nothing to excite the masses. Would definitely pop in again if in the city for work

Superb Breakfast Benny

By samanthaf1963 |

I was here a few years back and didn't think much of it, it was just okay - but this time, they were absolutely fantastic. Even the fruit was delicious! I had a Border Benedict, and it was amazing. The sauce was delicious and the corn cakes irresistible. Everyone stopped talking and just gobbled. And the coffee was actually good! I couldn't stop drinking that, either. All in all, it was a perfect breakfast.

Amazing Breakfast Stop!!!!!!

By Joe R |

Food was awesome and the service matched!!!!! Cup of coffee was always full. I love a place where you don't have to ask for more coffee, they were on top of it. Only open for breakfast and lunch.

Good food, good prices

By raincountry |

They have a variety of offerings to suit everyone from sweet to savory. Service was great and the meal was served quickly.

Quick service

By Angela S |

Great place we didn't wait long about 5 minutes but then again it was about 1pm on Saturday. Quick service and easy to pay at the end.

Fast, hot and plenty of breakfast options

By Bx2L |

The Broken Yolk Cafe gets plenty of visitors, both locals and tourists alike. I'd recommend going during non-peak hours. You'll be greeted with excellent service that is both friendly and fast. The food comes out quickly and hot. The menu might be a bit daunting as there are tons of options. Some of the menu items have a Mexican touch, but they have any breakfast item that you can imagine. It's a great stop and I've had the pleasure of visiting on multiple occasions while In SD.

Tasty food, big portions and fantastic service

By Wise14u |

Had the country skillet and it was delicious and huge. I was starving so I ate almost all of it. I wasn’t sure about the gravy when it arrived but it was delicious and tied it all together. Just a great dish. Nice lean ham on it. The ingredients tasted fresh and the kitchen is in open view of the restaurant so not hiding anything. I really enjoyed it.

Big beautiful breakfast

By gbphipps |

We were staying in a hotel a block away and noticed the reviews on Trip Advisor. The staff greeted us personably and we were seated at our choice of tables. The service was prompt and friendly. The fresh squeezed orange juice was served in a tall Pilsner glass. It was yummy and abundant. My husband had fresh hoist coffee and I was able to choose from a nice assortment of teas. I recommend you come hungry because the servings are quite ample and so delicious you will attempt to finish it all. My husband had the Fuego omelet and really enjoyed the spicy chorizo in it, tamed by guacamole on top. He ordered a biscuit which was the size of my hand and as thick as a muffin! I had the American breakfast with refried beans and they were fabulous! Do yourself a favor and try this place when you are really hungry!

Great breakie

By Jon G |

This is a cracking place for breakfast, the omelettes are amazing, well worth a visit and we’ll be popping back before we leave!!

Great breakfast

By Kristy198802 |

Loved this place! Went here on a whim and so glad we did! The kids menu was great and the staff was so friendly. Went somewhere else the next morning and regretted not returning here!

Delicious!!

By Amy H |

We arrived at the front door and were given the option of dining inside or out. We chose inside and were led to our table immediately. The menu has a great variety of choices and it took us a few minutes to decide. Our server was very patient with us. Hubby was so happy to see a full size syrup on the table, that he just had to order the short stack of pancakes. Eggs and bacon completed his breakfast. I had the most amazing Benedict. So unique and delicious and I am still thinking about it. The base was a sweet corn cake. Then the poached egg was covered in Carne Asada and a savory green sauce. Just the perfect amount of spicy and sweet. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy soft.

At that particular visit, my option was far from 4 or 5 starts

By Rafael Rossioli |

I tried 2 different options of eggs Benedict which were not the traditional. I tried one with "carne assada" and other vegetarian option with mozzarella instead. The one with meat is a NO NO for me. just a little bit of meet and not soft as I expected + the base was made of a sweet type of cake. The combination made no sense and taste didn't match at all. The vegetarian one was ok/average.

Good breakfast delivery!

By afirefly70 |

Good breakfast delivery! We had this delivered to our hotel for a yummy, safe breakfast. We had the hash, French toast and sausage, chicken and waffles, Tiki toast, and a Denver omelette. We really liked almost everything we ate! It was a great solid breakfast. The only thing I was disappointed with was my omelette. It had a weird melty cheese in it and way too big pieces of onion. Everything else was tasty and still fresh upon delivery. Tiki toast was a highlight. It seemed like it would be too plain but it had a really good flavor and just the right amount of sweet.

No Wheat Pancakes and You maybe overlooked in line

By cjdallas |

We went there twice and I tried to order wheat pancakes but they didn't have them - WHY IS IT ON THE MENU? The waiters are very attentive even though they are very busy. My daughter and I (my husband was standing outside) were waiting in line ahead of another group; but the server WALKED PAST ME and asked another group how many in their party and went to seat them (party of 3). I said excuse me, we were here first. He said oh I'm sorry. How many in your party? When he took us to our table he said, I thought you didn't have your whole party with you. I said, well you could have asked since we were clearly before those other people...

Great spot in the Gas Lamp district!

By Pennstater94 |

This was a great find in the heart of the Gas Lamp district. Great food with amazing Spanish rice. I highly recommend the juevos rancheros! Delicious. Cold brew coffee was in point too!

Long Wait for Food

By Stacey J |

We took a chance based on the reviews. We waited about 20 min to be seated. Pleasant server came and took our order within 10 min. Then it took 40 min to get our food. We were not expecting such a delay so that was the first disappointment. My omelet was delicious but the biscuit was dry. My friend ordered chilaquiles with green sauce and didn’t enjoy it so we shared my omelet. I wouldn’t go back unless I know the wait time for being served and I’ll stick with omelets.

Good Chilaquiles

By StephensWanderings |

I got take out and drank a mimosa while I waited. I had the chilaquiles bowl, which was delicious! Will definitely go back here next time I’m in town.

Great food!

By Tuc13_13 |

My husband and I ate here for the first time and loved their food. They did a great job with social distancing tables and service was excellent. We'll definitely return.

Great spot for outdoor eating

By AMarie314 |

My friend & I ate here the other day & it was very good! We were seated quickly & sat upstairs under the canopied rooftop dining area. My friend ordered eggs Benedict which she loved & I had the biscuits & gravy. If you are from the Midwest or South, look beyond the sausage patty on the biscuit! It is different but the gravy was spiced nicely & was very good. They also had mimosa flights which looked fantastic. The staff was very attentive & friendly. Highly recommend

Good breakfast in the Gas Lamp

By Skidad2013 |

I went there on a Monday morning based on the TripAdvisor reviews and proximity to the convention center. I was seated immediately. The orange juice was fresh squeezed. I ordered huevos rancheros. The eggs were cooked well with a form white and liquid yoke. The tortillas were machine made but tasty. The rice could have been better. The refried beans had a good flavor and were topped with a little queso fresco. The cost was $18.

Find someplace else, there are lots of options.

By DbacksFn |

We grabbed a quick lunch here before leaving town. Service was SO SLOW and they weren't that busy. It took forever for my husband to get a Pepsi. Food was ok but nothing great.

Perfect late lunch meal!

By MLAbug |

Perfect find for an easy late lunch! The entire menu had so many delicious choices and we had to go with the servers recommendation! The breakfast burrito was filling - we asked the salsa to be on the side- spicy good salsa. It went well with the rice and beans on the side! French toast - yummmy ! Theee huge slices Dribbled with their syrup and blueberries and strawberries on the side with coconut shavings ! The French toast was perfect - Moist soft and just right. We took the third slice to the beach after ! Definitely will visit the spot again- located in the Gaslamp quarter. Perfect place if you’re not sure what to eat! Breakfast for lunch and dinner !

Yum!

By Shannon P |

Visited this restaurant twice as it was very close to our hotel. Large menu with lots of options. Personally I loved their Feta Avocado Toast. Large portion with lots of toppings! Service was great both times and they were also great about providing 5 separate itemized bills for our group (needed for work reimbursement). Would go again!

Small side of life

By JULIBEE N |

Thomas was my server , I am Visiting here and it was close to my gym LA fitness . He was busy but took time to attend to me regularly. The lady preparing stuff was also super nice . The other staff offered water … the vibe is super friendly and they are efficient and clean . I only had eggs and coffee , but I’m sure I’ll be back for the “ small side half plates “ which I love because I do not like large portions!

Great breakfast place

By Ed O |

Breakfast I had the American American breakfast. eggs, bacon, bread and hash brown. It was very good and plenty ... The next day we had a very nice lunch outside on their tables.

Best breakfast place I have been to in a VERY long time!

By Always Hope |

I have been here for breakfast 2 days now due to attending a conference and have been there both times AND am on my way there again today :). Day 1 I had the Ranchero skillet, YUMMY. Yesterday was Day 2 was the Border Benedict (the sweat corn cakes were a bit too sweat for my pallet but all the rest was YUMMY). Day 3 will be Huevos con Chorizo or the Sope Benedict... I only wish I had more days to try more items. I bought a coffee mug so when I'm home I can recall my wonderful experience at the Broken Yolk cafe. Make sure you ask to sit in Alyssa's area, she is the BEST!

Just go!

By Bestboy12 |

And this is not just a breakfast place. The menu is inventive and extensive. We went there twice during our visit. The bus person was a crab during the first visit but the waiters are super. The benedict with bacon was super. The hash was great. The patty melt was also very good. It is not a cheap diner. But the quality of the food makes it worth to pay a bit more.

Nothing broken here

By HungryWillie |

Fast, friendly, tasty, generous. Spicy when it should be. Plenty of menu choices. Great place for a hearty breakfast.

Breakfast is their thing!

By VacationQueen96 |

So my husband and I went to this restaurant on 2 occasions in 2 days. On the first day we had lunch, my husband had a burger with an egg and fries, I had a burger with cheese and onion rings, we asked for pickles but they were out. They onion rings were delicious, the burgers were not memorable, sort of just ok. We decided to come back for breakfast, we had Belgium waffles with eggs, bacon and sausage, breakfast is really their thing! The waffle was perfect, bacon cooked to perfection and I don't know the type of sausage they use but they were delicious! This was not a cheap breakfast but it was good.

Quick service, great food, pleasant staff

By Professor_CR |

Sunday breakfast - lots of choices of varying amounts. Considered an omelet, but with four eggs plus potato and bread sides, the two egg options were a better choice. Just right for us as we didn't want any leftovers. Hubby had the American with ham steak, hashbrowns and a muffin. He said it was delicious and the muffin was saved for his mid morning snack. I had the two eggs and sides (hashbrowns and English muffin). Delicious! And the service...the meal arrived while hubby was off taking a phone call (it was a bit noisy at our table). The server kept his meal under the warmer until he returned. Kudos for thoughtfulness on a busy morning. We highly recommend breakfast here!!

Fantastic Service

By FNet0 |

After being neglected across the street (our first stop by pure chance) we crossed the street to the Broken Yolk Cafe. Three times as busy as (my last review) we were greeted with a welcome smile and vibrant Good Morning we were seated immediately, followed shortly by a server. They all looked like they wanted to be there and were happy to have the business. Service was courteous and with noticeable urgency. Food was great but watching the staff attending the tables as a team of people that knows how to keep people coming back to a restaurant was delightful. Will definitely go back to have breakfast there. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Don't sleep on this breakfast place!

By Stephanie |

This location was super convenient to where we were staying but I probably would have paid/walked/crawled a gross amount of each to make it here. Christian, our waiter was fantastic. He was patient as we were friends visiting in person for the first time in a long time. I had the French Toast trio, my friend had huevos rancheros with rice, beans & tortillas. The mimosa flight was awesome. Boozy coffee drinks were like dessert at breakfast.

Good Breakfast

By PJ3 |

Great breakfast and awesome, friendly service! Get an omelete....you won't be disappointed. The lemon ricotta pancake was delish, too. I didn't love the breakfast burrito, though. Ate here 3 days during my 5 day stay in the gaslamp district

amazing food and service

By divarakal |

We had an amazing time here dining in for brunch. The weather was beautiful and the customer service was great. The food was delicious, we took our time eating outdoors because the experience was wonderful. The people are so nice here.

Ate here two days in a row

By MsColorado |

This is a great breakfast spot. The menu is laid out perfectly with everything you need. Food is tasty. Service is friendly and fabulous and the prices aren’t stupid.

Excellent service and breakfast

By betthorn |

Great place to eat! Loved the food especially steak and eggs! Fast time to wait on table and eating on the street a treat

I wanted to give this a Very

By Michael C |

I wanted to give this a Very Good rating but it’s actually excellent. The service was very fast, very friendly and really competent. The food came quickly, it was hot, really nice presentation. The prices were entirely reasonable. The menu extensive. It wasn’t too noisy, it want fancy, it wasn’t plain— it was just very comfortable. Totally recommended. Kudos to our server, Andres. We had a great time and we’ll be back again this week.

AMAZING MIMOSA'S

By imanoutdoorgrl |

We went to the Broken Yolk after having a rather interesting nite in San Diego. We started off with a flight of Mimosas that had orange juice, pomegranate, cranberry and grapefruit. We didn't know it at the time but a flight was $4. We later moved to a big one each, for $3. Breakfast was wonderful and so was the service. It was pretty busy and seating outdoor was a must due to COVID. I'm gluten free so I stuck with eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy and my son and his wife waffles, one with nutella. They have a pretty good size menu so bring your appetite. If you're in San Diego and are close to downtown make this your breakfast stop.

Breakfast the way it should be

By lovestoroam78 |

A good place for a classic breakfast. Fast service, goof food - all the selections with none of the gimmicks you see in other places.

Plentiful Breakfast

By MPearson |

Excellent food with a good atmosphere and service. There was plenty of food provided all of which is good. There is an occasional line to get seated.

Great Food - Large Portions

By Mobile12566463182 |

We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 8:30am. We were seated right away, no waiting. John, our server, was attentive and effective. He is a great ambassador for the area. Food was served quickly and hot. We had the California Eggs Benedict and the Classic French Toast. Both were great. They have an entire Benedict section on the menu, lots of choices. I added a glass of OJ - large portion and great tasting. Not overly expensive, but the portion size more than makes up for any perceived high cost. Recommended

Fabulous, healthy or not

By Anthony B |

I ended up coming to Broken Yolk 3 times on my visit. The quality of the food, and service is simply impeccable. First time was to be healthy pre the RnR Half Marathon. The omelette I had was tasty and wholesome. Then came the time to eat proper breakfasts. This meant having the Monte Cristo and on the last occasion classic French toast. Both were extremely good, full of flavour and as fattening as they should be. Well worth a visit when in San Diego.

Real fast and good.

By B Wood |

If you want a great breakfast and quick service; stop in. Excellent biscuit and gravy, plus the Blueberry pancakes. My breakfast was $30, but welcome to SD. The Mexican omelet was spicy with serrano peppers too. I ate there twice, great place to start the day.

Great for morning with kids

By kristle2018 |

I searched all the breakfast places near the Gaslamp area looking for something kid-friendly and found it here. I have 2 ridiculously picky eaters, one of whom is a night owl and despises leaving the hotel in the morning to get breakfast. Luckily, they offered hot chocolate and hard-scrambled eggs that turned my obstinate, surly 7 year old into a human again gushing over the cute chicky on the menu (he would buy a stuffed version of it if he could). 10yo had strawberry Belgium waffle, of which she could only finish 1/4. They even had a “Mom” omelette for me. Veggies? Check! Toast was perfect and fruit was fresh. Husband had Avo-toast with poached eggs, which he liked. All for the same price as a trip to Panera.

There's nothing RIGHT with this place

By Jan K |

There's nothing much right about this place. When the hostess wanted to seat us by the front door, we asked for a different spot, so she put us by the OTHER door. Ordered eggs easy over and they were properly cooked but cold, indicating they were cooked well ahead of time. Server completely forgot a side we ordered. The parfait was also a disappointment with soggy granola, another item made ahead. Oh, and the place ain't cheap either.

Menu was great but the Fiesta

By Shawn S |

Menu was great but the Fiesta breakfast burrito was better, excellent food, great service and 3.00 mimosas, who could ask for more!

Good breakfast place

By Sue M |

This is a chain and we’ve always enjoyed their breakfast. The food is good and comes quickly. The staff was very good- always refilling both coffee and water. The coffee was very good.

Amazing breakfast, massive portions

By Laura P |

Amazing breakfast and massive portions. The dishes from the griddle were amazing. Would highly recommend

Monte cristo!

By Carey B |

Had the monte Cristo and some hash browns it was pretty good however not the best I’ve ever had! I did order via delivery so I’m wondering if it would have been better in person!

Great meal

By 78trishd |

Chose this for its location and enjoyed a great meal at a good price. It was crowded but had a minimal wait with a few seating options, including a great outdoor space that is dog friendly. The staff was very good and made sure to check on us several times.

Typical American joint

By CaribbeanLove86 |

Soo much choice and good quality options on offer, although my choices were not on the healthy side! Nice atmosphere and given the Coronavirus, still busy! Pancakes were delicious as was my mocha.

Great, quick breakfast

By Chris H |

We chose this restaurant for its close location to the Pendry Hotel. We were not disappointed. Service was friendly and quick, food was fantastic, coffee refills were prompt and the value was great. Huge selection of items to choose from made selecting one difficult. We dined outside on the wooden platform built during the pandemic but the number of homeless and smells made this option a bit less enjoyable for us. We will definitely try inside on our next visit to San Diego.

Great service and food. A good way to start your day

By Heather & Alex |

In San Diego on conference. Breakfast eaten here a couple of times so far on our trip. This place is a chain, don’t let that put you off. Excellent service and a broad menu choice. Generous, well presented portions and everything you would need in a breakfast. The servers are great especially John who we noted takes time to assist with the more vulnerable customers and has a lot of kindness and empathy, we will be giving them our custom during our stay in this great city.

Very nice way to end weekend in San Diego

By USASA1 |

As you all know, I am tough to please. This place was great. Service was perfect, food was very good, nice clean place. Good smoothies.

Great breakfast the best we found

By C S |

Loved this restaurant, staff friendly, not trying to be something it isn't, good portions and honest food. Good coffee and friendly staff along with tasty food and a great variety catering to all tastes

Back to amazing breakfast experience

By Tiberiu_Baranyi |

Morning in San Diego after a day of travel - breakfast was a priority, so I've decide I visit the Broken Yolk .. conventionally close and since I knew the place it was an easy choice. So here are the findings: - location - on the 6th Ave. in the Gaslamp - with good seating capacity , but is no parking only on the street so if you go by car take care. - service - fast and prompt - no waiting time at all after the order was taken in like 5 min I got my dish. Excellent waiter work no doubt about it. - food- excellent options available on the menu - but I went for the Benedict, a classic breakfast. Excellent choice - poached eggs were great the sauce was completing those nicely - crispy bacon fitted in just nicely - overall a great dish for starting the day - really no complains. - prices - pocket friendly - hence the place was almost full in the morning - so it is a really good price to quality ratio. If you are in San Diego and you are looking for a place to take breakfast - or even some brunch I recommend this place - been here over the past years and the quality did not dropped a all - it is still an amazing breakfast experience. Go and try it for yourself.

Yummy breakfast!

By 205CindyW |

Got there late morning, very busy but got us in within 10 minutes. Even though they were very busy the service was good and we all enjoyed our meal.

Awesome service

By Yesenia S |

I came with my big family and the waitress was super sweet and attentive! Will be returning to this location soon :-)))))

A lovely breakfast at Broken Yolk Cafe

By Wendy P |

We read the reviews and went along to see for ourselves whether the restaurant was as good as promised.... it is! There is a wide choice of food available. Service was good and a great atmosphere. It's a very popular restaurant. We enjoyed it so much, we returned for breakfast there again during our stay.

Yum yum

Looking for a good breakfast place!? This is the best we found near our hotel in the Gaslamp District. Food comes out hot, well prepared and served with a smile. Prices are fair and the service is really great. Traditional pancakes, eggs, French toast as well as some more fancy items,

Good Breakfast Grub

By William W |

Great breakfast! So good we dined two days in a row. Wife got the same double Benedict both days, not sure which two, with a side of fresh fruit. I had the American, eggs over medium, with ham day one, sausage day two, biscuit, hash browns and side of gravy day one, hash browns & sourdough toast day two. Both days we had coffee & OJ. Both days our order arrived at our table less than ten minutes after ordering, everything was very good. Just the right temp, eggs perfect. I would have liked a better crust on the browns, but ain't complaining. Biscuit was tasty at first, but had a funky aftertaste. Gravy was lumpy, which is okay if it's tasty. Theirs isn't. Same funky aftertaste as the biscuit. Service was excellent. Recommend and would return.

Yum

Delicious a great choice for breakfast. Coffee was plentiful and hot. Server was quick and efficient. I had the trio see picture wow far bigger than I could eat. Would go again.

Great spot and wonderful food

By 395waynef |

While on a business trip we stumbled upon The Broken Yolk and decided to give it a try for our first breakfast. My husband was SOLD. We later found that several of our team has found The Broken Yolk too! We tried several things on the menu and everything was wonderful!

Good portions if you’re hungry

By Kevin F |

Crowded with customers on a Sunday morning but no wait to get in. Pretty good service, good selection, awful coffee but overall good value for a well prepared meal.

Great food, fun atmoshere.

By Melissa M |

The food is just fabulous. Egg dishes, omlets, benedicts. They have a huge menu with many other things we just went for breakfast. The fresh fruit is also lovely. I went two days in a row and everything our whole table had both days was fantastic. Just as we ordered. Hot and delicious

Great breakfast

By Thomase77 |

Ate here twice whilst in San Diego, both times were good. The food was tasty and the service was good. Would recommend the corned beef hash American breakfast.

Excellent Breakfasts in Gas Lamp District

By Loren S |

Had breakfast twice during my four day stay for a conference in May 2022. The food was very good and service excellent. Only a couple blocks east of the Convention Center and Petco.

Broken Yoke Delicious on Pancakes

By Julie W |

Having the short stack combo with lemon ricotta pancakes. These flavors don't really pop. I think they should add bar seating or a work table for business travelers. Great attentive service and fast turn around.

YUMMY!

By Luvs2travel |

A great breakfast for my husband and I while visiting in San Diego. Fantastic menu which makes it difficult to select just one selection. I had the Golden State Eggs Benedict which included avocado, bacon, tomato, egg on the english muffin topped with sriracha sauce. It was delicious! Great attentive staff and quick service!

Over priced

By smaresident |

Went yesterday with my Son. Entering the restaurant it was so noisy horrible music so we opted to eat outside on the terrace. Just as. Outside the noisy music was just as bad. Having owner a restaurant we always ensured that it as “background” music. The service was surprisingly fast. The food was marginal in quality big in quantity and price. Will not return. There are many options in San Diego.

Delicious

Was looking for a place to get a quick brunch. Service was quick. The breakfast burrito was great. Happy I found the place.

A great place for breakfast!!

By Shelley B |

A great place for breakfast! Very busy but we were looked after everyone so well!! Would definately come back! Maybe even for lunch! Thank you Josue P for making our Saturday morning out perfect!

A real breakfast go to

By Phil H |

What a find at 6am after 25 hours of travelling. Attentive staff, superb selection of omelette and pancakes as well as platters for all day dining.

Breakfast of champions

By Flying_Donkeys |

Minimal wait on a Saturday morning and restaurant had a nice open feel to it. Ordered eggs with corn beef hash and it was delivered promptly and was delicious. Sour dough toast was very fresh and tasted very good. Coffee cup was kept full and we very much enjoyed our breakfast here.

One of my favorite Benedict Eggs ever

Saturday brunch during a conference in SD and tried out this place. Good service and wonderful food!

Amazing experience will definitely go back

By Navigate00691802830 |

What an amazing experience ‘. The service was great! Big shout out to Angie for taking such good care of us! We will definitely be back and I will definitely request Angie! If you want a great experience and good food this is your place.

Yum!

By Heather |

I've been to The Broken Yoke twice, once for breakfast and again for lunch. Both times the food was good, it was decent size portions, and friendly service. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It's very close walking distance to a handful of hotels and I would definitely recommend it!

Fast, friendly and convenient

By Bicontinental |

In town for a conference and lots of places to choose from near several hotels. This is quite near the convention center. I ate here twice. The staff are friendly and efficient, the prices decent and the latte good. I just had a simple 2 eggs, hash brown and toast breakfast but looking around in the busy restaurant the other meals looked fine.

Very good breakfast

By Daniel M |

Chicken and waffles were great, huevos con chorizo was very good and the Mom's omelet was about average.

Never again while in San Diego

By Ash O |

My husband wanted breakfast before we attended Comic Con, and we wanted something close to the SDCC. Many things weren't open yet but BYC was so we decided to give it a go. It was an absolutely terrible experience. First and foremost, the service was abysmal. Our waiter took our drink order three times (there were only two of us, and we asked for a hot tea and a cappuccino.) My husband's cappuccino was brought to the table when he was halfway through his breakfast. The waiter was also short and surly with us. While I get that things may have been particularly busy during Comic Con weekend, I am sure that they are usually are most weekends with a breakfast/brunch rush. My husband's breakfast was also terrible. The eggs were overcooked and he did not like his meal at all. His hash browns weren't even cooked. Blech. It also took forever to get the check. Sorry, Broken Yolk. You will not ever have our return business.

Ample portions and reasonable prices

By Darryl G |

We went here for breakfast, having first tried more expensive places. We should have gone here first! If you are a breakfast person and have a good appetite in the morning, then come here! Modest decor, and the food is basic, but it is good. The portions are more than adequate, and the service is pretty good too!

Can't wait to go back!

By Freedom63435369134 |

Outstanding food and service by Christian Ramo. Truly delicious, fresh, and ample portions served incredibly fast. We will be back! Probably tomorrow if we can.

Overall good food & a nice experience.

By Scott C |

First time traveling to San Diego on 9/29 I was looking for a unique place or at least new to me for breakfast. I am dining solo & arrived early enough to grab one of the street side tables. I chose the street side so I could enjoy breakfast outside on a perfect Fall morning. I enjoyed the biscuits (bottom a little crunchy for my preference) & gravy with hashbrowns. The staff was attentive without hover. Overall good food & a nice experience.

Great breakfast

By Anthony D |

My wife and I were in town for a few days. We tried Broken Yolk initially because it was near our hotel. We loved everything that we had. We came here for breakfast 2 different times. The feta avocado toast is excellent as is the caprese benedict. My wife eats gluten-free and she had no problem finding options on the menu. The service was very good as well. The portion sizes were great. I would definitely recommend this place.

Good breakfast spot

By mkbark |

Bright and airy, with big windows that open out. Service was very attentive, breakfast was very good.

Delicious!

By Sherri T |

Delicious! We absolutely loved our breakfast! Staff was friendly, place was clean, and the food was just very tasty! The menu is loaded with many options from Avocado Toast to Eggs to Waffles. Everything looked amazing, too! We would definitely recommend The Broken Yoke for breakfast. If you like hot sauce, be sure to try Hot Licks Serrano sauce on your table.

So good we went there twice

By Lori D |

This restaurant was just steps from our hotel. The menu is huge and the food is amazing! The staff is very attentive (your coffee will not run dry) and food comes out quick.

Love the breakfast here

By wethere |

We were craving some dine-in breakfast fare, and found just the place within 10 min from our hotel (Doubletree). The egg dishes, bacon, sausage, yogurt parfait, and Mexican entrees were all very good. Service was pleasant and the facilities were bright, welcoming and clean. There are definitely several dishes I wanted to try so we'll have to head to that area again when we visit next time.

Amazing experience, really good drinks, and the food was fantastic, would love to come back, I could drink the Hollandai

By katrina p |

Best hollandaise ever!!! Best service as well! Absolutely would come back hereand the mimosa flight was fantastic, thank you!

Great breakfast

By Amy R |

Really good breakfast food. I had the steel cut oats and they were delicious. The other dishes also looked great but I was trying to be healthy 😂. The service was incredibly quick. Would go here again.

Really Awful Terrible!

By girlfromcork@aol.com |

Staff were friendly and the service was diner what you’d expect The food is awful I mean the egg tasted fine and I had toast but the rest of the meals huge amounts of greasy unhealthy gobs of food served in such unappetizing ways with a background of loud music. Not what I want my mornings to be My fork had old food caked onto it ugh ugh ugh

Average, pricey food.

By Murph211 |

We were disappointed with the service and the quality of food when we visited for breakfast. We had a difficult time catching the attention of the waiter, even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. When our food finally arrived, we could tell that it had been sitting for a while prior to our waiter serving our order. Room temperature at best. There's better breakfast restaurants in the Gaslamp than this.

Still an excellent breakfast

By OnTravelsAgain |

We ate breakfast on both days of our stay in SAN. Excellent experience, good service, tasty food with huge postions and sensibly priced, highly recommended

Best breakfast value in town

By traveltime111 |

I had the special and 2 extra pancakes which were HUGE! I took the extra in a doggie bag for the next day. The sausage patties are delicious, best I've had this year. Service by Amy was A+, top ten in 2019. Floor manager Sean was 100% on point and professional. I thought he was the GM due to his competence and great attitude. I'm looking forward to dining at their other locations.

Best breakfast in a long time

By Thereandback111 |

So glad we found this place! Had amazing breakfasts there several days in a row while we were in town. The eggs were fluffy, the toast was thick and the hash browns were done just right. And the chocolate milk was fantastic! Friendly service, nice bright atmosphere with 80s music playing and big portions. Loved it!

Poor Omelette

By LTT |

Had read all the rave reviews and came by for breakfast. Ordered an omelette and home fries. Was so disappointed to see the omelette wasn't fluffy and moist but crisp and fried. Should have ordered the eggs Benedict I saw at another table. Will know better next time we're in town.

This is Breakfast

By Janet F |

I hope you came hungry. I've been on a French toast kick lately and the sampler was awesome--otherwise I'd have likely not survived my indecisiveness. Not only was the food excellent, the service and coffee were both good, too.

MONSTER OMMELETES

By Manuel C |

A must for breakfast in the gaslamp quarter, the dishes are generous, most of the omelettes are three eggs, in addition to being well accompanied. The staff is attentive and fast, prices are adequate. The problem is that most of the time you have to line up to get a table, but it's worth it.

Great food and service

By Michele H |

Great food, service was friendly and kind to thr kids. Wonderful kids menu too, food was much better than the kids menu suggested. The apple juice was outstanding!!

Great Place for a Delicious Breakfast

By Cac1234 |

The Broken Yolk Cafe is a great place for a delicious breakfast. The service is good, the decor is nice, and booths are comfortable. There is a nice variety of breakffast dishes. My husband enjoyed the Monte Cristo and said that it was very good. The Cinna-cakes are to die for! Full of flavor but not too sweet. One may also get a good cup of hot chocolate. We enjoyed our first breakfast so much that we went back again during our stay in San Diego. The French toast with strawberry sauce is also a winner! This location is just around the corner from the Hard Rock Hotel and a short walk from the convention center. It is worth every step to start your day at the Broken Yolk Cafe.

Good location and portions

By pinkislandprincess13 |

Good food and portions, but a little too spicy for us. Make sure you know what you're ordering. Ours said peppers, but where we are from, in a breakfast this is green or red peppers, not spicy ones.

Fantastic Breakfast

By Bill N |

Early morning, opens at 6am. Perfect for someone traveling from the East Coast. Excellent service, plenty of coffee refills. Almost too many choices. Went with the huevos rancheros. They were great! I will return.

GREAT breakfast spot PANCAKES PANCAKES PANCAKES

By JSWKingsfield |

On our last day in San Diego, it was time for a big breakfast before heading out to the airport. A weekend line a good sign that this was a place worth waiting for. We all were in the mood for pancakes! The menu says "sweet buttermilk pancakes," and they arrived hot, big, slightly sweet, thick and begging for the butter which comes on the side. Coffee refills were promptly provided by the cheerful, energetic wait staff. The restaurant is funky, bright and airy. Turkey sausage patties were good, whole wheat toast was good quality and arrived buttered. The staff is excellent about cleaning the tables as they turn over. Good, solid, honest breakfast food, with friendly service, will happily revisit some day!

Start it off right

By gglake |

So much fun and the food is outstanding. Very Happy place to start your day. We have taken as many as 8 guests and all raved.

Such warm service that we couldn’t help but return.

By Adrian GV |

Such warm service that we couldn’t help but return. I visited San Diego with my family for a few days over Christmas and we went to The Broken Yolk on our first day, where Serafín took care of us. The breakfast was great — quick, delicious, and with a varied menu — but what stood out the most was the excellent service. After trying a couple of other breakfast spots in the city, we couldn’t help but come back three more times. Every time, Serafín was our server, and I’d like to commend him for his outstanding service, warmth, and kindness. He’s a true example of human and professional excellence in every sense. Great food, a wonderful experience, fair prices, and a fantastic staff. I highly recommend trying the “Cinnamon Roll Hotcakes,” and once again, many thanks to Serafín for the exceptional attention!

Excellent breakfast spot

By cm-in-ca |

Easy to find, very busy cafe. Waiter was great, breakfast was delivered fast and exactly the way we wanted. Had to swim out because they gave me so much coffee. Lots of indoor and outdoor eating.

Solid Breakfast

By Seagolfer |

Had the Greek omelette with blueberry muffin and fruit (cantaloupe, strawberries, pineapple). Was delivered quickly and portion size was big. Came to $18 with tip, but should hold me over for a while. Lots of other options on the menu. Worth a visit if you are looking for a hearty breakfast.

Good solid breakfast

By Foz2B |

Good location in the Gaslamp District. Hashbrowns just needed a little bit longer on the grill ... overall though a good back-to-the-basics type of 'eggs, bacon, toast and hashbrowns' breakfast one needs to start off the day.

Great breakfast

By Eric T |

Outstanding breakfast burrito. Couldn’t finish it. Friendly and fast service. Would highly recommend for a an awesome breakfast.

Had a very nice time

By Alex D |

Delicious food, great bloody mary flight, took a bit long but they were busy. Worth the wait. Staff very friendly and we felt comfortable

Great Breakfast Spot

By Christopher C |

Sometimes a nice independent cafe that is not attached to your hotel is just the ticket, and this place delivered. Walkable almost anywhere in the lower Gas Lamp district, the place had ample dining tables, prompt service, and good breakfast, all at an attractive price. A solid strategy

Great Breakfast place

By Fran C |

You an get great breakfasts here - service very good from the hostess welcome to the paying of the bill. Wide variety of eggs, omelettes, pancakes, waffle dishes............choice of side of fruit amazing - fresh and a good portion.

Delicious and fast

By LEONA |

Really enjoyed the great food and fast service. Since we had to park in a 30 minute only spot, the restaurant was very quick.

Great diner style breakfast

By DrKahless |

Exactly what we wanted. Great service. Excellent kids menu. Good coffee. Great food. Planning to go back at least one more time this week.

Best breakfast in San Diego

By Daniel G |

Love this restaurant the food and the service are grate, for sure one of the best place to have breakfast in San Diego

Great friendly service. Lots

By traveljoy |

Great friendly service. Lots of choices on the menu. I am a fan of eggs Benedict and they have several kinds and will let you try two kinds on one order (one of each) for the same price. I had Golden State eggs Benedict and Sope eggs Benedict and both were great. Tiki toast (French toast using Hawaiian bread) was awesome too. I would go back again.

Breakfast....nearly every day

By dubliner1970 |

Amazing service, great food and a reasonable price. Ate here nearly every morning while on a conference in SD. The servers never let my coffee cup run dry, the food arrived quickly. And, most importantly the food was excellent. Huge choice of food, pretty much worked through every category and couldn't fault it - and I'm picky! Well done Broken Yolk!

OK - Standard breakfast fare - kinda overpriced

By bk19 |

Went with the family for the first time to the Broken Yolk as visiting San Diego for first time. Overall, good location to Gaslamp, staff generally friendly and large menu selection. Food was standard breakfast fare, I thought it was kinda pricey especially for kids menu because may be it was in Tourist location and there were limited choices for breakfast early in morning.

Excellent

By Giko182 |

We're here for breakfast, American of course. Very fast service. Abundant and quality portions. Beautiful place. Recommended

Great food experience

By GrandTour53938286776 |

Breakfast at broken yoke this morning. Excellent food and service. Great location near Padres Petco park. Our server John W made our experience exceptional. Definitely recommend for great food and service. We will go back during our visit to the gaslamp district.

Sunday brunch

By martinaY3158FR |

...they ran out of vodka by 11a on a Sunday...for a party of 11 this wasn’t a good things to hear. Ordered sope Benedict (sopes were dry) banana pancakes (they were ok) no name omelette (was better than the beneies) and the rest of the table looksed to be satisfied. We’re able to seat our group within 15...not bad for the crowd on a sunday...if you’re looking for some great grub go elsewhere...

Amazing!

By Kerry T |

Absolutely AMAZING breakfast! So good we went twice within a few days! Great food, drinks, atmosphere & staff! The flight of Mimosas & Bloody Mary’s are a must!

Great for breakfast in Gaslamp district

By Eva H |

Our last day in San Diego and we had a great last breakfast in this restaurant. Wow what a menu. Everything you could imagine ! Fab service too.

Great breakfast!

By Hsteinmiller |

We ate here twice during our five-day visit - breakfast here is so, so yummy! Service is fast and friendly. The lemon blueberry pancakes are absolutely divine. Everyone else at the table devoured everything quickly. Absolutely recommended!

Solid breakfast options, come early.

By Jesse C |

Ideally located in the Gaslamp Quarter around many hotels. Go early because even on a Friday morning at 7:30 about a good 75% of the tables were already taken. The server said it usually gets busy around 8:30-8:45. My wife had blueberry pancakes and she loved them. I had the biscuit and gravy and through it was tasty, it was lacking for sauce. A bit more sauce would’ve done the trick. The side of sausages were excellent however

Amazing breakfast!

By Anna |

Amazing breakfast! This was our first breakfast in San Diego. It was so tasty. The flavour combinations were incredible. I had eggs Benedict, they let you chose half and half between two different flavours which lets you try out more stuff - great idea! Our waiter was also very helpful giving us tips on things to see and do in San Diego.

Good Breakfast

By Daniel M |

Nothing outstanding about this place, very fast service, food is ok, decent prices. They have a friendly service.

Definitely not worth the wait, not bad, not good

By JMP |

Massive burrito was quiet nice but sauce on top very overpowering, French toast was decent and pancakes looked pretty good but quiet pricey and had to wait ages outside. But wouldn't say its anything to write home about quality and taste wise. If there's a queue don't assume it's worth waiting for.

Bad attitude

By Glyn J |

Didn’t get as far as sitting down. Guy in the kitchen was rude and can’t tell the time. Best avoided if you expect decent customer service.

A Comic-con tradition

By Heather |

I ordered the rolled tacos and a grilled chicken caesar salad. The salad was good but there wasn't very much chicken in the rolled tacos. The server was pleasant enough and I was able to walk right in and be seated, despite it being Comic-con.

Chain restaurant breakfast, nothing special

By 1111jesj |

The food was OK, the service was fine but it was definitely nothing to write home about. It tasted like every other chain diner's breakfast food (i.e. Denny's, Perkins, etc).

Awesome Breakfast!

By Scott C |

We LOVED this place. Great spot for families who enjoy breakfast, as they have a huge selection of options in a bright, roomy restaurant. My wife had scrambled eggs. I had a terrific omelette and we all shared a stack of Cinnamon Bun pancakes! They were like a slice of cake!

Great food and excellent service

By Kiwihoo4 |

Excellent food, very generous portions, very friendly service. Great for families too. My teenager loved the breakfast burrito, and there’s a huge variety of other breakfast dishes.

Worth The Wait!!!

By CraigMills1 |

This is my go to for a great breakfast. Regardless of the time of day. Friendly staff and great mimosas!!!
