Good Italian food, friendly service

By John P |

My wife had the gnocchi, I had the pear and gorgonzola salad and the shrimp alla diavolo - everything was great. Friendly and fast service, too.

A lovely experience

I was there with a large group recently and was very impressed with the level of service and the food. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. I did not hear one complaint about the food. The appetizers, especially the meatballs, were wonderful as was the bruschetta. I had the salmon piccata which was perfectly prepared and delicious. Others around me had the chicken marsala and loved it. I did not have dessert but one person told me it was the best tiramisu they had ever had. This is a lovely neighborhood place well worth the visit.

Relaxing dinner venue

This evening we had dinner at Brunello's Ristorante. We both ordered chicken piccata for the entrée. First, we shared a salad before dinner. It was well prepared. Mixed greens with pear and gorgonzola. The chicken piccata was very well prepared. A nice sized portion, not overcooked, moist and flavorful. Plenty of lemon and capers to give the dish its character. Dessert was a delightful limoncello layer cake. This restaurant has recently changed ownership, so you might give it a try.

Loved it!!

Family of 5 in Seattle for vacation and looking for some good Italian food. This place came up in our search so we decided to give it a shot. We showed up in shorts, t shirts and tennis shoes and when walking in and seeing the atmosphere felt a little underdressed. Small and quaint but very classy and nicely decorated. All the staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome. (My son was impressed with the folded napkins and the fact that our waiter spoke Italian. Lol!) With a couple picky kids I was a little worried but everyone found something to eat and LOVED it!! They made my 10 yr old a “plain spaghetti and meatball” (that wasn’t on the menu) and.got the biggest meatball he’s ever laid his eyes on and ate the whole dang thing. My girls got the Penne Gorgonzola and wished they had more! Lasagna and Rigatoni were just as good. Kids loved the bread so much we got a loaf to go. We all walked out of the restaurant talking about how good our meals were. So glad we decided to give it a shot!

Attentive, friendly staff and excellent pasta

By Darrel C |

My first time on August 7. A friend recommended it. Very warm, so I sat inside. Began with a top-notch negroni, and I enjoyed two glasses of an excellent nero d'avola with dinner. the beet salad with arugula was very good, but the rigatoni con salciccia was ten stars: an ample portion, just picante enough. I noticed a wait person, perhaps the principal, attentively greeting new arrivals and checking to see if all was all right. It would be easy to pass right by on the bus or walking, but a stop for dinner is well worth it.

Friendly and cozy Italian

Four couples together for late lunch/dinner. Service was quick and very friendly. I had the seafood pasta dish which was flavorful and large.. wife had the Carbonera which was creamy and also large portion. The wine list was impressive with both local and imported. Everyone in our group was pleased with the meal. The service was prompt and inexpensive.

Might be tempted to pass by, don’t!!!!

Great neighborhood restaurant. IMHO, It does not appeal from the outside. The interior is nice but maybe a little worn and “cluttered”. But the service and the food are out of this world…some of the best pasta I’ve had (and I have eaten a lot). Flavorful, “punchy”, generous and reasonably priced. Lots of wines by the glass as well! The limoncello desert was gone in 60 seconds. Will be added to regular location.

Great Food

Great service, knows their wines, meals worth the price. Wheel chair accessible. Great place to meet friends.

Great new neighborhood Italian restaurant.

We ate at Brunello for the first time a few days ago. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and with the service. The bread and salad were very good. The house-made gnocchi were great, and my husband really enjoyed the chicken Marsala. Both of our wines were very good. The service was excellent, and the owner stopped by to make sure everything was okay. This could be our new local Italian restaurant.

Don’t bother

We found the atmosphere and service to be fine, but the food was mostly flavorless. Our salads were underdressed, my veal was tough, the calamari was very chewy, and there was grit in the mussels.

Excellent food

Had dinner here. Service was friendly. Prices appropriate. Pleasant place, though romantic atmosphere made it difficult to read the menu for aging eyes. Menu varied. Food very tasty. Portions very generous. An enjoyable meal. I would return.

Best Steak Ever!

By David M |

Totally surprised me. I ordered the steak and pasta which was on the specials menu and it was great. Wow great cook on a fat filet. Four of us were there for dinner. My wife an I have been here a number of times and always had good meals. But this was really good. Now the evening was not perfect... Waiter was in his first week (and he will be great..just not yet) and it seemed as though they were under staffed so I was a little annoyed at that but then the meal came. Will be back for sure.

Hoped for a better experience

Overall the meal was a disappointment. The atmosphere is nice. While they have outdoor seating, the seats are metal and do not look comfortable and the area is right on a busy road. Nice wine list. The beet salad had little flavor, as if the beets were out of a can. Beets were mixed with plain arugula and a little bit of feta. I'd skip this dish. The pear gorgonzola salad was much better. Their special was a Chilean Sea Bass which was very bell prepared. Unfortunately the carbonara was not so good. The flavor was good, but the pancetta was probably 50% fat. We ended up with an inedible pile of fat on the side of the plate. Waitress seemed somewhat new. She was nice, but had to go to the back and ask about any little question. Worst of all, when she came by to ask how the meal was we nicely pointed out the abundance of fat in the carbonara and she just nodded and left. The host was having a lengthy, pretty personal, conversation at the table next to us, but he never stopped by to ask us about our meal. Not the response you look for, eh? All in all there are many better options in the area.

Neighborhood restaurant, cozy Italian ambiance, food average to good

My husband and I went to dinner for our anniversary. I ordered the gamberi Florentina (shrimp) and my husband ordered the veal Marsala. The shrimp were smaller than expected, but nice presentation. My husband’s veal has a wonderfully rich Marsala sauce although one piece of veal was tough. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake and it was excellent. I’d rate this restaurant a 3-4. Service was excellent. Ambiance was very Italian.

Early Christmas Dinner

Service was good as was the food for most of the family. My only thought to offer is regarding the tenderness of my veal dish. 2 of my 3 pieces were tough, which can sometimes be the case with veal if not prepared properly. Perhaps the difficulty was that they were in a rush to replace the first veal dish they brought which was not the one I ordered. The pieces were on the smallish side as well. Those who ordered pasta dishes were quite pleased. To their credit they left the veal dish I did not order for the table to enjoy if they wanted to and provided another Aperol Spritz for me on the house. Regarding the Aperol Spritz they serve it in a Champagne flute not in the traditional way over ice in a wine glass. I definitely prefer the latter as it keeps the drink cold and refreshing for a longer time.

Don't judge the benign exterior! 10/10

The reviews steered us to this place and we have raved about it ever since! Excellent food, clean and cozy Mediterranean vibes inside, patio seating, and super reasonable prices.

Great Neighborhood Italian Restaurant

As we were walking up to Brunello a couple was leaving. One of them told us ...Try the Chicken Marsala, it's fantastic. He was right. The Spaghetti Scoglio was also excellent. It's rare to get unprompted recommendations on the street. Service was great with our server taking the time to explain the specials, the wines available by the glass and the rest of the menu. All of this without being over the top and upselling us. The passion was evident. Definitely worth a visit

Excellent food and a pleasant setting

By Jack D |

I've been here twice in the past few months, once with family and once on a date with my girlfriend. Both times the food was excellent and the service good. On a date night with my girlfriend, we ate outside on the patio. We both had the specials, filet mignon with pasta and a seafood pasta with white garlic sauce, mussels, shrimp, clams, and more. The pasta was great but I was surprised by how amazing the filet was. The presentation of both plates was esthetically pleasing as well. Homemade Panna Cotta with marinated berries was a perfect dessert.

Great find for Italian

Visiting Seattle for a few days staying in University district looked for a good Italian restaurant. Brunello was close enough for us to walk and Uber back and had good ratings. Got a reservation for 6:15 with a 1.5 y/o and 4 adults. 2 of us had the seafood pasta special and 2 had the salmon and pasta special. The little one had spaghetti with pesto sauce (her favorite). Everything was delicious. The seafood: muscles, clams, calamari and shrimp over spaghetti with lemon wine sauce with fresh tomatoes had more seafood than I could eat. The salmon (Alaskan Sockeye) in lemon wine caper sauce was delicious and generous portion as well. The one issue was the kitchen sent out a small portion of gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce instead of pesto as requested for the child. Despite being quite busy our waiter was able to get a small dish of pesto and we each shared some of our spaghetti which she thoroughly enjoyed. We also had the combo plate of Bruschetta, half tomato salsa and half mushrooms. The mushrooms were outstanding. They also pass the bread test (My wife and I long ago decided we could tell if a restaurant will have good food if the bread is good.) The host and server were very friendly and accommodating. We will be happy to return to this restaurant the next time we visit Seattle, whatever area we stay in

This is a very special place! First, the food is delicious and presented beautifully. The amosphere is charming and the greeting enthusiastic - think small Tuscan bistro.

Birthday Celebration

By Ben M |

I have visited Brunello twice within the last 2 months. The first time my wife and I were very impressed and pleased with the food and service. In fact, I completed the chef on the seafood and pasta dish that I had. So we decided to include our family to celebrate my wife's birthday. The restaurant was very accomodating and worked hard to make it a special occasion. For the most part the food was excellent and the service attentive. However there were a few things that were not great. First, the host was so loud when speaking to tables near us, that it became disruptive and we could not speak over his loudness. Next, the bread was not a traditional Italian bread or focaccia, but a very dense bread that was not pleasant. The service was overly attentive. It seemed that the waitress was almost standing over us to clear our plates as quickly as possible. It created a rushed feeling, like we had to hurry and finish our food. Last, I had the pork chop special. Unfortunately the pork chops were overdone, dry and difficult to eat. However my wife's veal was excellent and others seemed very satisfied with their meal. They served a wonderful lemon sorbet in a frozen lemon reamed out to accept the sorbet; lovely. A nice restaurant with good people who need to improve in a few areas.

Great food and wine, pleasant atmosphere, attentive and knowledgeable staff.

It's a blessing for me to have a first-class Italian restaurant in my neighborhood. And the fact it's within a mile means I can walk to it! I have never had a bad meal at Brunello. The pasta, the meat, the desserts, the wine, all are excellent. Recommended!
