Lunch with my 8 year old son.

By Matthew1175 |

Service, Food and atmosphere were awesome. BBQ/ Country music joint right downtown. Ordered the meat plus 3 sides. Added an extra meat. Ribs were fall off the bone. Fried chicken was juicy and extremely crispy. The sides were huge portions which was a nice. And the entire staff seemed to enjoy there job and were very nice. My server even asked if we had any food allergies before he put our order in. That is going above and beyond.

Good dinner

By Sunshine0406 |

Hubby and I took the kiddos, they ate mac and cheese, which was tasty enough. However the brisket and burnt ends were absolutely DELICIOUS. Would definitely go back for that. Service was pretty decent and it was a cool atmosphere for the young crowd.

Fun group outing

By Princerman |

I went to Bub City for a group outing on a business trip. The food was delicious. I loved their brisket and chicken wings in particular. It's got a down home vibe and the cocktails were great.

Chilled Location

Nice, relaxed restaurant. Service was friendly and quick, and the food was good enough for casual occasion. Ideal place for just going somewhere to chill and talk.

Love the home-made butterscotch pudding

By Taylor B |

One of the things that sets restaurants in the Lettuce Entertain You chain apart from its competitors, in my view, is the number of unique dishes on each menu. Like the home-made butterscotch pudding and brisket chili at Bub City. Growing up, I loved butterscotch pudding. I still do. And Bub City gave me a chance to reacquaint myself to its delightful taste and creamy texture. Located at 435 North Clark Street, south of West Illinois Street, on Chicago's Near North Side, it is a popular destination for barbecue, whiskey and live country music. Open from 11 to midnight Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and 11 to 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, it's a good place to find friends of Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn. My lunch order included a bowl of brisket chili with 18-hour smoked prime brisket topped with sour cream, mixed cheese, jalapenos and chives served with cornbread, three chicken tenders served with golden waffle fries and house sauce, an All-American Burger with two all-beef smash patties, American cheese, ketchup, mustard, onion and pickles served on a Martin's potato bun with coleslaw and golden waffle fries, a hand-spun chocolate milk shake and, of course, a large portion of home-made butterscotch pudding. Bub City also has a location at 5441 Park Place in northwest suburban Rosemont, off I-294. near the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.

Casual brunch spot

By TracyJane76 |

My husband and I stumbled onto this place last Saturday when we were looking for a good relaxed place for breakfast. My husband's favorite type of food is BBQ so he was in heaven ordering brisket in addition to his skillet of hash browns and fried egg. The only complaint he had was that there was a dash of BBQ sauce in the hash browns that he wasn't told about and it made them taste too sweet and a little weird. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on the homemade biscuits. It was wonderful and so much food that my husband ate 1/2 and we were both full. We also shared a plate of the tots which were crunchy and salty perfection. Looking over the menu, we wished we had time to try more of the offerings like the mac and cheese, the fried chicken or the bloody mary bar. The service was great. Our server refilled my drink without me having to ask, which is always nice and she offered my husband more cocktails anytime she walked by our table. We wanted for nothing. The ambience is country american which helps have a cozy casual vibe. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Chicago.

Bub City great Bourbon food service and bands!

By NickP227 |

The Bub City in River North is one of our favorite bars and restaurants in Chicago! We have spent the last 3 New Year’s Eve parties there and we just had a great experience last week as well. Their bourbon selection is Top Notch and their manager. Tim and Bartender Garrett are so full of knowledge. They also sell bourbon at retail prices that are extremely fair and we always go home with a bottle or two. The ribs are so incredibly tasty whether you get the dry rub or go with the sauce. They have great quality food, service, and great entertainment on nights when the bands are playing… Which is often. I can’t wait for our next visit.

Sucks A$&

By Adman2298 |

We had a large group and waited in line. Got to door and couldn’t get in? This place is bush league at best. We went to Untitled and dropped $1000. Save yourself the trouble. They are ridiculous. Boom! Ray from LA.

It was ok

By Elil G |

Place and music were good, a little too noisy to have conversation, beer option were limited and the food menu wasn't updated they didn't have all the options only snacks, although had good flavour. Good place for dancing, really crowded. There were no enough waiters for all the people in the place, slow service.

Fried Chicken is Great but.....

By jrtal |

I would recommend the fried chicken it was some of the best that I have ever had. Our waiter was attentive and kept everything flowing. Everything was going well until the manager made a poor decision by forcing us out of the place because we had been there too long. We were still ordering but he wanted our space that we were in.

Thanksgiving Feast

By pkflyer248@aol.com |

This was a first time at Bub City for us. My daughter saw it online and we decided to give it a try. The food was good with lots of leftovers to take home. The side dishes were buffet style and you could make as many trips as you wanted. The only thing that could have been better was the food needed to have been warmer. The service was good and the price was right.

Great Burgers

By Garland J |

Great food can be found in this restaurant we had wings, chicken, salads and burgers. The brisket cheeseburgers were very good and tasty, it reminded me of the BBQ joints in Memphis. The staff were friendly and courteous and there was no wait for the brunch, would love to go back for dinner and enjoy the atmosphere during those hours.

Nice atmosphere

It was a Perfect spot for dinner and drinks with new friends met at a conference. Efficient service, good food and good crowds.

What a Special Birthday They Made It!

By Patsysinger |

This place was FABULOUS because of the service and the sweet and perky hostess and waitress we had! They went out of their way to accomodate us so that we could arrive almost an hour before our reservation, they were SO quick to seat us and store my walker for me, and when we were ready to leave, they hailed a taxi for us outside and made sure we got inside of it safely. I was celebrating my 65th birthday and that darling server came out with a little game board with a spinner on it. The board had six DELICIOUS tarts in it which were complimentary for my birthday! She told me to spin the spinner for a prize and I won a coupon for 20% off our next meal! We will DEFINITELY be returning to Bub City in Chicago just to have this fun experience all over again as the young folks KNEW how to treat a senior citizen and make the feel fun and special!!! It was a GREAT time!

Great Night with Country Music

By yogiwallace30 |

I used to come here all the time when I worked in Downtown Chicago. Was always a great place to recommend to anyone who wanted to listen to live country music or get really good BBQ in River North. Will be back when I come back to the Windy City!

Sweet Server and Savory Southern BBQ

By SuzieQG44 |

Dark and cozy atmosphere, colorful lights and live music. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon from a chilly walk outside to a warm, lively, friendly setting inside. Service was great from Kylie M (5 stars). The heavens parted and delivered cinnamon rolls for an anytime of day appetizer! My husband, son and I split a 3-meat sampler: pork, brisket and burnt ends. We preferred the two beef options. We had cornbread, texas toast, pimento cheese spread on the tray and for our two sides we chose mac-n-cheese and the sweet potato fluff. Both were memorably delicious. Only "downside" was the music was very loud. We enjoyed the musician and appreciated the tv options for sports.

Amazing food

By Michelle |

Good food. generous portions. My only complaint was the fries came out when we were halfway done with our meal. Must like country music, as this is what was playing. Would recommend to friends& family

Delicious and relaxing dinner

By JackieDS5 |

We had such a great meal at Bub City! It was our first time there and our server Hollie was very helpful in navigating the menu and figuring out how to order the proper amount of food for the 5 or us. We had a booth inside, but it was a beautiful day and the windows were open to the sidewalk so we had the best of both indoor and outdoor. Great nachos and meat platters - can't wait to go back!

BBQ

By Kvillian |

It's a good BBQ joint. The food was about what I expected. There was a full self-service Bloody Mary bar. All in all, an OK place to get BBQ.

Live music fun

By LMIVER0801 |

Visiting family was looking for something a little different for going out and loves country music. A friend suggested Bub City and we were so happy we went! There was a line to get in, but we managed to get in and snag a table right away. Band was great playing mostly country but threw in other genres as well which we all loved! We did get the nachos and they were amazing! Great spot!

Great BBQ, service and music!

By cardiacmom |

How fortunate that we stumbled upon Bub City on our first night in Chicago. Fantastic food, so fresh and home made, great service by our server Kylie who recommended the sample bbq plate which was perfect. I loved the mashed sweet potatoes with marshmallow cream topping.......YUM! Managers Tim and Patrick were incredible and treated us like family! And top the night off with live music by South City Revival and what a great night! Thank you Bub City and crew! If you are in Chicago, don't miss this gem! What a great evening.......well into the night ;*)

Good barbecue

By Stephanie S |

Restaurant has a nice vibe. Tv's all over. Barbecue is slightly above average. Great mac and cheese though.

Best meat and friendly service

By Madeleine G |

Spare ribs, brisket and pulled pork to perfection. Super tender and juicy! Small but delicious side dish. The tacos were also excellent and you get a lot for your money. The red wine from the can is also better than you would expect.

Awful staff

By Brae D |

Staff was rude and disrespectful. I’m sure experience may have been good for others but tonight was awful with the staff my family had to deal with. Never coming again.

Great dinner

By mmoose4 |

My friend and I ordered the mac and cheese and a pulled pork sandwich to split. We were very satisfied with the food, service, and decor. Our one annoyance was they served lukewarm water. They did bring us ice when we asked, but it just seemed odd. Not enough to deter us from a return visit, though.

Great Old fashions if you like classic drinks

By pjjohnson17 |

This place was excellent in not only taste but quality of drinks and reasonable pricing! My husband and our friend couldn't stop raving about the old fashion whiskey drink. The Brussels sprouts where outstanding! The our meat selections were yummy. The mac n cheese was just average. This place had some live music going on as well that was pretty good. The seating is kinda close so that was uncomfortable but the staff was great! Try this joint out!!!

A nice super bowl night out

By Anita B |

This place is exactly what it promises. A great sports bar with large screens, nice servers and great junk food. We couldn’t have asked for more. I am not a beer drinker and there wasn’t really wine so I had to go for a cocktail which was okay but nothing special really. However, will still come back for the next sports event!

Enjoyed and left full!

By vacayladyc |

Great food and service. Well priced and in a good location near the hotels in the area. If you don’t want to go out, they also partner with the food delivery services.

Whisky Dream

By Chris C |

We happened upon this place while in town for a hockey tournament. Although the food was just OK, the drinks and entertainment were excellent. Unbeknownest to me, this place had a HUGE whisky bar with appropriately priced pours. Any bourbon you wanted, they had it. From the cheap stuff to the great stuff. There was also a band that played later in the night for a few hours that was entertaining as well. If in town, I would not hesitate to frequent this joint.

Delicious smoked food with great music

By sofcuegirl |

Great for a casual fun night out. It was Saturday night, got there around 8.45, with a reservation, which was great, we were seated inside and the live music started at 10pm. We shared a pitmaster combo plate and had beers. Totally recommend it for a fun time , great music and fantastic food

Typical local USA

By Adolfo A |

Typical American place where stars and stripes flags stand out, screens broadcasting football and baseball seasoned with background music. The food is good and in line with what the place is. The quick and efficient service and the informal environment where you can also sip something without the need to dine given the large counter...

Bloody Mary Heaven

By AWATS |

Went on a bloody mary crawl last visit to Chicago and this place was simply amazing. The make your own bloody mary bar was just the doctor ordered. You can easily make a meal out of this. Service was great, the place was hopping and the bloody mary was amazing. Highly recommended, hey what else is there to do fro breakfast on a saturday or sunday morning?

Family Chicago trip

By julie m |

Ate here for lunch- very good food! Flavorful and good portions. Enjoyed the burrito, nachos and the macaroni and cheese. Burgers were good sized. Would visit again.

Bar Games

By MartynG_11 |

Stopped by for a quick drink. Excellent vibe in the bar with some great country sounds. Bartender seemed preoccupied, chatted to ladies at the bar, saw me then disappeared into the kitchen, came back chatted to another group of ladies. Then told me he’d be with me in a moment in a manner that he knew I was there all along. Well there’s been several moments I thought. Too cool for school clearly. Fair enough plenty of good places around here. We move on - 5 stars for the music

Brisket!

By Christine L |

Love their fatty brisket and corn bread and sweet butter. Their kitchen also closes a little later than other restaurant in the neigborhood.

Great BBQ in Chicago!

By Greg G |

Stopped in here for dinner and ate at a table on the sidewalk. Extensive menu and even more extensive drink menu. They smoke all their meats on site. It was difficult to chose what to eat as they had so many great options, but I ended up going with a full-rack of Chicago ribs. It came with a piece of Texas toast and some coleslaw. The ribs were delicious. Honestly, the food here is really reasonable for downtown Chicago. The service was excellent. Highly recommend stopping here if you are craving some great BBQ.

Bub City

By Dee1265 |

Friendly staff. Great food. Wonderful entertainment! Loved it! As the oldest ones in the crowd we felt very welcomed. Loved the Brisket!!!👍

Great for after dinner drinks

By psudino |

We came here after dinner with a bunch of business colleagues. The atmosphere here is definitely full of energy, even on the weeknights. The drinks were well made and the service was very good. They have plenty of space so bring the whole group!

Nice outdoor tables, but that's the best I can say

By DCDolcevita |

Huge portions of mediocre food. The prices were decent, but the drinks were awful. We stopped here because the outdoor tables looked so inviting. It was indeed a very nice setting, but we wouldn't come here for the food or drinks.

For the money, just average bbq

By Willwerks |

Met for lunch, had sidewalk table. Pleasant service, but food was just OK. Not bad in any sense, but we went for the $16.95 lunch specials which included a sandwich, 3 sides and a drink. The sides were generous (and a good selection), but the brisket was dry and had several large gobs of fat in the portion. The pulled pork was fine - nothing special, but ok. I'm not a bbq snob; I like all styles: Kansas City, Carolina, Baltimore, etc, Each has its good points; this bbq didn't stand out. Not a place to avoid, by any means...just don't expect to be wowed.

Great

By sim_one |

it was great that's exactly how you want to go out when you're in the usa food, staff, atmosphere and drinks were perfect thanks for the nice evening in chicago

Really great service, food not so much

By yg.Lys |

I went here for dinner, on a weekend, during a solo trip. There wasn't any room at the bar, so the hostess let me take a reserved table (she probably figured I’d be out quickly, before the party arrived). The atmosphere is great, really cute place, excellent service. However, the food, I didn't enjoy too much. I ordered the bbq brisket nachos and when they arrived, my first thought was, "how am I going to finish all this food" - the portion was really big. But as a started to eat the nachos, I realized it was mostly chips, almost no meat - and the meat that I did get was bland and kind of cold - really artificial cheese, and a bunch of overly sweet BBQ sauce. The guacamole that came with the nachos was good, but I really did not enjoy the nachos themselves. Last time I had beef nachos, it was in Nashville, and they were to die for - these paled in comparison. As for the drink, I ordered the Back Porch Tea (sweet tea vodka, whiskey, lemonade, black tea). I would have never thought to put those things together, but they were actually really good. Though of course, the drink was the price of the nachos. I only ordered one thing, so maybe the rest of their food is good - I just would not recommend those nachos.

Fingerlicking Good

By EvelynM26 |

This place is my all time favorite for comfort food. Their fried chicken is the best ive ever tasted. Their brisket is also delicious. The vibe is very laid back at the time i went was for late dinner hours. Have been back a few times because the food is just that good. Mmmm my mouth watered just thinking about it.

Great food!

By Melissa T |

We took our family of 5 here - ranging from a very picky kid, one with allergies, and one vegetarian. Our vegetarian found a salad and was pretty happy with it, and every one else loved their dishes! We would go back!

A little county in the middle of the city.

By Guy S |

Great BBQ across the board, live music and a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The servers and bartenders really do go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable. Prices are quite reasonable for a downtown eatery.

Bad review

By Liadh B |

Staff were shocking, mean and rude. Had to go up to bar for everything (food and drinks) All 9 staff were standing chatting and so unwelcoming. Felt very not wanted. Wouldn’t sever us after 3 drinks, saying it was against their policy. We asked to speak to the manager because we were so appalled and he was no better. Very disappointed would not recommend!!

Family Reunion Time

By daniel a |

Wow what a great time we are having seeing the sights in downtown Chicago, spending time with family and picking this place to all meet and have some lunch! This was a great pick and I intend on checking it out again in the future as I am the native here and the family had to go back to Arizona! From the service to the drinks to the food it was a Five Star in my opinion! I had this incredible chopped salad and as usual I always get the dressing on the side that way if I do have leftovers they are not soaked in dressing! The salad was so delicious as was the dressing which I had to ask for extra because it really was sooo good! The price for the portion I had was very reasonable. Another family member ordered the same salad, but wanted an order of grilled salmon with it and boy not only did it look good and the portion very generous but it tasted great grilled perfect. There was not a dish that was ordered that did not get the word delicious included in comments about it! A variety of drinks were ordered and those who ordered the sangria really liked it as did the craft beer guys! What is nice about this location is the RiverWalk is just a few blocks from here so you can get alot of sightseeing in before you settle down for lunch or dinner at Bub City. To all those travelers coming to see this beautiful city the staff here will make you feel at home!! Safe Travels to all!!

Delicious brisket!

By slb10717 |

In town for a conference - my friends and I had a FANTASTIC experience! I ordered brisket nachos and they were very spicy and when the manager DC asked how it was - I didn’t complain but explained. He said I’ll be write back - and brought me a new plate without the sticky sauce, which is very spicy. I appreciated him making this right. Our server was great, a 2nd manager rounded on us - and it appears all the stuff wants you to have a good experience - and it shows. Thank you!

Great atmosphere, average food

By Andy W |

We ate outdoors on a beautiful afternoon. My husband liked his chicken tortilla. My tritip sandwich was a little dry. Service was friendly but like many places, spread thin.

Good food and barbecue

By Civilin |

We ate barbecued ribs and some delicious chicken wings. It is a very lively and pleasant place where in the evenings there are concerts. They have a lot of beers and whiskeys. Highly recommended

Tasty!

By C&BM |

Delicious BBQ. Lively place. Good beer. Our server, and forgive me, I did not catch her name, was great. Friendly, attentive.

Large table accommodated with ease

By ScootsBirmingham |

Two large groups sat on adjacent tables for a get together meal, set menu brought to the table of chicken, salmon, tacos and brisket and various sundries Service was ok as was the food, plentiful and warm Beer expensive at c$10 for a glass but water very free flowing and served in large used beer bottles which was novel OK and close to the hotel

BBQ not bad and restaurant is what you expect

By Terri L |

The food is generally good, but I found the fried chicken a bit dry. Other appetizers were typical bar food but cannot get behind BBQ sauce on nachos. Super friendly and sharp staff!

Karaoke Night

By Russ Lacuata |

Went with a group of my colleagues while in Chicago for a work Conference. It was Tuesday Night Karaoke and surprisingly very lively atmosphere. Vast selection of drinks, top shelf liquors and whiskey and its reasonably priced. Staff were friendly, bartenders nice, good drinks. Most likely go again next time I'm in Chicago.

Worst Thanksgiving ever

By Monique G |

This year me and my cousin opted to do thanksgiving at a restaurant. We chose to come to Bub City Chicago bc neither of us had been before and we love BBQ. Upon our arrival we found out we couldn’t order off of the regular menu. That was the first issue bc my cousin is a pescatarian and was looking fwd to the Salmon. We stayed anyway and she ate just the sides which was her ONLY option and I chose the brisket. The sides were all barely warm, the brussel sprouts seemed somewhat burnt and looked as if they had been under the lights forever. The gravy for the mashed potatoes came out with the meat, which was around 20 minutes AFTER we got our side dishes. There was some kind of salad but there wasn’t any dressing and the macaroni was al dented times 2. Once my meat came out I was shocked. There were only 3 small chicken nugget sized pieces of fried turkey, a few slices of turkey breast that was drier than the Sahara Desert, and 2 under seasoned, fatty, leatherlike, pieces of brisket. Oh and randomly placed pickles...go figure! We were never offered a drink other the lukewarm plant water but bc we were we took one more leap of faith and tried the apple crumble...another disappointment. Shocking...but not really. Because it was apparent it had been cook in the mix matched stoneware it was presented on, o had trouble prying it loose from the sides. Who was the chef yesterday? Clearly he wanted to be home with his and took it out on ours. Bland food Thankful For a sense of humor and the Cheetos I had in the car

Good bbq, lively atmosphere

By tobycc |

This place was fun, casual, went with a big group of friends, had a resevation which was good. It was rowdy, crowd was watching a game. Service was ok. Main complaint was that a platter for 3-4 people didn't have a ton of food. We got a giant fun drink tho and they gave us some delicious shots and dessert, so that kinda made up for it

Good BBQ on Clark

By Bob S |

We wanted a great meal after seeing Cirque du Soleil. Bub City has it all: a great variety of bourbon, whiskey & beer and a huge menu. Being in the Lettuce Entertainment family we knew the food would be great. My wife had the salmon & I had the the Sunday special of a full slab of ribs. Amazingly good. The scene is energetic with a great bar, outdoor seating & a stage for music. The service was good. They offer valet parking. A great place with great food!

Grilled Cheese

By bking406 |

Went in here on a Sunday evening . The guy at the front acted like it was an imposition to take my to go order . The food was good though

Good southern food

By Shelbs21 |

The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was great! And best part the food was delicious!!! It badly priced for the amount of food you get

A sports bar that serves authentic Southern barbecue

By Taylor B |

Bub City delivers on all counts. It is a popular sports bar with large TV screens that cover all sports. Thanks to chef Doug Psaltis, it is a restaurant with a country/western theme that specializes in American comfort food and authentic Southern barbecue, especially 16-hour beef brisket, burnt ends, baby back ribs, Carolina-style pulled pork and fried chicken. It also features a large wood and brick bar. And if you're in a hurry, you can take advantage of a swift carryout service. Located at 435 North Clark Street, Bub City is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 a.m, on Saturday and 10 a.m. to midnight on Sunday, plenty of time to eat everything and see everybody you want. Since we prefer to watch our favorite sports events in the comfort of our home, we decided to sample the luncheon fare at Bub City. We started with bowls of Smokey's chili. My wife had a Carolina pulled pork sandwich on Martin's potato bun with chips and cole slaw. I had a carved turkey sandwich with cheddar cheese, avocado and bacon. Next time I'll have to order the BBQ Atlantic salmon with corn off the cob and Texas pit beans. For dessert, we shared big slices of coconut cream pie and peanut butter chocolate delight pie with chocolate pudding, peanut brittle and peanut butter mousse. And we took home some chocolate chip cookies. A great place to hold a reunion of old newspaper colleagues.

COMFORT FOOD, NOT MUCH MORE...

By 1Trippermonth |

Stopped past for drinks and dinner to catch some football on a busy Saturday night. The food selection was standard comfort fare. For example, the restaurant served ribs that were good but a little dry. Other meals seemed to be good for those in our party but now “WOW” factor. Suspect if you want to hang out in a busy bar, this would be one place to go. However, “Bub” if you want an excellent meal it is probably down the block somewhere. Just saying....

Would definitely go again

By Crozzer1984 |

Absolutely delicious, real American vibe, yummy food, great service, nice place. Chilled atmosphere. And sat outside in the sunshine.

Cool American bar

By AdrianRunner |

It is a classic American pub, lot of beers, whiskey, nachos, etc. Cool to stay and have a drink and some snacks. In the evening they have live music.

Fun gathering place for libations.

By Harvey8380 |

Been there a couple times and the scenery is great. They have an awesome bloody Mary mix bar that you can build all kinds of things on your bloody Mary plus they give you a little beer back. Pub food is OK, service is fine definetly would go back.

City Brunch

By cme119 |

Stopped in to have Brunch before seeing Hamilton and Privatebank Theater. They have a great bloody mary bar where you can load up your own bloody mary. We had the brisket eggs benedict and the breakfast special of the day, which was a brisket breakfast burrito and three sides. The food was great. We sat outside, but the restaurant is open air concept so anywhere. After brunch, it was just a short walk to the River walk.

New Years Eve

By Shaznandy |

We pre booked a table for NYE, coming from England we didn’t know if we could wander to various pubs and this sounded good! Stopped of night before to make sure it was ok, fantastic BBQ food and a great atmosphere with plenty of TV screen. Had live band NYE and food and service despite being busy was great! So glad I found this place! Def visit again when I’m Chicago!

Lost My Business

By Janice R |

This was our third visit and my husband and I brought friends. We warned them it would be noisy, but we also said the food would be good. We had enjoyed the BBQ ribs very much on our previous visits. This was a Saturday night and the noise level was close to unbearable - everyone shouting over the music. Our friends enjoyed a brisket sandwich and a chicken sandwich. One said his waffle fries were soggy. There were two types of ribs offered and my husband and I ordered one of each. They were exactly alike and not very good - mushy instead of crisp - just boring meat on a bone. Mine (listed second on the menu) were almost impossible to cut apart and attached to some weird bone at the top. The sauces helped add some zip, but I prefer the chef to flavor the ribs before they are served. No sides came with the ribs except a tiny dish of cole slaw and a laughably soggy triangle of so-called "Texas Toast," although I would swear on prior visits one side was included. No corn bread on the menu. We won't be back.

Wing me deliciousness!

By Epiffier |

This place is authentic country meets big city. The interior design is perfect! Photo genies be ready for photo opportunity galore! My favorite part of the decor was the Santa and Reindeer hanging from the ceiling and flag of beer cans hanging above the main bar. I recommend their wings, old fashioned, waffle fries and tater tots. They had live music that was great too! Guys were very talented. Tuesdays I heard they have Karaoke! Fun!

Average BBQ, have multiple screens for sports viewing

By Sue0501 |

We ordered the ribs and brisket sandwich. Both good, nothing special. Crispy tater tots were good along with the cole slaw. Nothing to add, we’ve had better ribs and brisket. Just average.

Great bloody Mary’s!

By Teakwo23 |

Great bloody Mary’s! Service was good. Country restaurant and bar with quite a whiskey collection. Nice happy hour.

amazing service. Amazing everything

By NickP227 |

First, we had such a great time at Bub City. We received amazing great service from our bartenders Meagan and Mauricio. Great food and great drinks. We asked to see the manager, and when he came by, we realized he was the same man who was helping out all over the place. Brad G was the nicest and most gracious person. We are so impressed by the great aura of Bub City. You can sense the camaraderie and great service is everywhere. I give them 5 stars 100% recommendation. Great food. Great drinks. Great bourbon selection great entertainment! ( were going back later for the band!). Most of all great service with a genuine smile.

Great food!

By Hillary M |

Went here with a friend and the food was great! Drinks were also pretty good and the service was excellent! Would definitely go back!

Beware profanity allowed here!!

By Betsy M |

Our dinner here was ruined when we a guest was seated next to us with a F - - - a certain presidential candidate t shirt on. When we asked the managers Kurt and Josh if they could ask the person to cover it up because there were kids around us they declined saying it’s freedom of speech. I said but not the F word that’s not right in a restaurant. They could have cared less. Ugh.

Just ok

By kjm55 |

Stopped for late lunch, not busy. Service was good. Kind of a limited menu, combination brunch?/ lunch. Ribs and brisket were fair. No sides come with the ribs. Pretty good beer selection. Must be better bbq joints somewhere

came for a quick pint

By dgraham76 |

came here for a quick drink after hooters for tea, was quite busy, the usual price and seemed a good atmosphere, would recommend it for a quick drink or three

Great country western BBQ

By jane v |

opped here for lunch recently. Walking into Bub City is like walking into a southern barbeque Restaurant in Tennessee. The decor and the music is definitely country western. They also have sports on big screens so if you just want to come in for a beer they have a large Choice while you watch your favorite sports team. We opted for the Meat and three which is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday. It's actually a really great deal, you get your sandwich plus your choice of three sides. It also includes your choice of a soft drink, sweet tea, or LA Colombe a coffee. All this for $16.95. I had the chopped brisket sandwich with the simple green salad fresh fruits and corn off the cob. My companion got the pulled pork sandwich along with the same three sides. Both sandwiches are really good and they actually have enough sauce for us that we did not have to add anything to them. The salad was very good and fresh, the fruit consisted of blueberries, strawberries and pineapple, and the corn off the cob was my favorite because it also had cheese sprinkled on top and Seasonings. I would have given them five stars, however, our waitress who I believe was also the bartender, forgot about my sweet tea and I had to remind her about it, which is not great considering there was only one other customer in the place at the time. However, if she was doing double duty as a waitress and a bartender at the time maybe she was just concentrating on the drinks for that one customer. In the evenings they have live music. This is a great place to grab a beer and/or a sandwich and meet some friends for a night out.

Just ok

We went to go there on Friday night and they were closed for a private party. Thought we would try again before leaving the city and it was okay. The food we ordered we had ingredients in our dishes that were not mentioned in the menu. Being a person with food allergies that can cause someone who is severely allergic to have a reaction. But thankfully I could eat everything. The flavors were good. They had an awesome Bloody Mary’s bar that we didn’t partake in. But looked awesome. Prices were alright for the city. Looked like a good atmosphere for at night.

Great spot for gathering with friends

By rav1oli |

Popped in here for drinks with some work colleagues after a conference. Cool bar offering outdoor seating, indoor, sports on TV and really good service. They don't offer the traditional beers but there alternatives are more than adequate. Great spot for gathering with friends.

Really tasty food and great service.

I had the brisket melt, spoon bread and fried Brussels sprouts. It was very, very, very good. What made the meal even better was our server Sydney. She engaged us in great conversation and provided awesome service. Patio seats to people watch, lots of ambiance and great beverage selection. Definite do over.

Wonderful Dinner!

By Maureen E |

Food and service were both great. My husband and I loved the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches. My kids enjoyed the mac and cheese and fries. We made a reservation so we were seated right away. Food came very quickly. It was a little too loud to have a conversation but my kids loved looking at all of the lights and decor. The best part was when they only had 1 booster seat available (2 toddlers) they searched until they got another one for us from a nearby restaurant. So nice and courteous! Would recommend!!!

Late Night Bites

We stopped at Bub City after flying into Chicago. It was great for a drink and late dinner. We sat outside on the patio. I got the loaded fries and my husband got a chicken sandwich. Both were enjoyable.

Great place

If you want a good time, good drinks, and really good service, come here!!!!! So much fun!!! Great Bloody Mary bar with such great fixins, deviled eggs oysters finger sandwiches - as much as you can stack atop your glass! We drank at the bar with such excellent service by Mauricio and Meagan. They pour a great drink and enjoyable conversation. They really were fun and made for a great experience. Also had Brussel sprouts app. Sooo good. Best bbq in town too

Stopped in for drinks

We stopped by for drink and sat at the bar. Good service and nice atmosphere. They served us mini hot dogs during happy hour.

Quite good barbeque

By CAGreens |

The volume level is way too high for my taste, but the barbecue, especially the chicken, is good. Sides are also good, especially the Mac and cheese with brisket. This was our first barbecue in Chicago so we will probably try other places before we return here, but I can imagine coming back. Cocktails were also quite good.

Find a better choice

There are so many great spots near Bub City...the staff is unfriendly, do yourself a favor and skip the drama and go somewhere that understands their customers. Drinks were weak.

Fun restaurant

We found Bub City while walking along Clark Street, looking for lunch. My daughter had been here before for dinner and recognized it and recommended it. It was lunch time and kind of early, so we were one the first people there that day...first to sit outside at least. Staff was very friendly. There was a lot of BBQ selections to choose from. I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich...delicious. Wife had half rack of ribs, which were even better! Meat fell off the bones and was tender and flavorful. They specialize in whiskeys, so if you like whiskey, you'd love this place. Unfortunately for us, it was too early to be drinking like that, but would love to come back at night. Looks like this place would be lots of fun.

Had a blast

Went here for a private party. Okish snacks, good drinks. What made me gave this place 5* is that it was packed with locals having fun, dancing to a band, having a good time. It was fun to watch and be a part of the crowd.

after work dinner

Good BBQ for Chicago. Felt like I was in Texas. The Brisket, Pulled Pork and Chicken were all very good. They have some home brewed beer which I tried and it was very good. For a Thursday night, it was rocking. Packed with people. We were a large group, so had a pre-set menu and it was good. Great service, good food and fun atmosphere.

River North BBQ

By jronkowski |

This is NOT a super tasty down home Southern tasty BBQ place with paper towels for napkins. It's a River North restaurant with Nice ribs for essentially a chain place. I was hoping the Bloody Mary fixings bar was open but it is only open on weekends. My beans were tasty, my ribs tasty & my Brussels sprouts were burnt. The service was good and all the employees were friendly and helpful. The prices were moderate for the River North location.

Great Place!

Outstanding Service... Best Brisket ever! Would go back again and again. Country atmosphere. Pleasant crowd. Easy access from Hyatt Place!

BBQ was fantastic, service was not so great

By Robin G |

The BBQ sandwich was amazing and tasted so good. The loaded fries were delicious and something we had never had before, so I definitely recommend them. We all had a Moscow mule. The service was so slow. We spend more time waiting then actually eating. It was busy in there, but our waitress never came back to check on us and then once we got our bill after finishing eating for 30 minutes, it took another 15-20 minutes for her to get our money. It does have great food and a cool ambiance in there.

Food Great, service the pits...

By Max L |

Bub City, your BBQ was So good that your miserable server couldn't ruin for me. I know it's Monday, but walking in to the restaurant you would have thought it was Friday. This is where a server can really earn some green. Not so for our girl. Anyway... Food is Fantastic! I had the ribs and brisket, sides were mac & cheese and cheesy spoonbread, brisket beans. TO DIE FOR!!! Great smoke taste, tender not backyard now! But tender and excellent. Brisket was delicious. In for some time in Chicago, so will fit you in for another visit between going to Lou's.

Catering from here is a must - FANTASTIC

By Terry M |

I ordered on a budget for a loop work lunch, I can't tell you how great this food was, it was probably the most affordable catering I've ever ordered in the Loop. Now one might think good prices mean inferior food, think again. Everyone loved the buffet food and we had plenty of leftovers. Besides the food tasting great they sent plenty and I mean plenty of condiments. It is one of my pet peeves when catering a work lunch, no problems here, plenty of sauces, salad dressing, pickles, you name it we had plenty. As others have noted, I love their brisket, but I don't think I tried anything that wasn't quite tasty, beans elotes, didn't try the brussel sprouts, not a fan, but others said they tasted great. Highly recommend this place, going back tomorrow to the restaurant for another work lunch.

Birthday dinner

By Drakson90 |

Went to Bub City for my husbands 50th birthday after the Bears game. It is dark but typical for that type of cuisine. We had a burger, BBQ sampler, rack of ribs and a salad. All were served quickly but not super hot. The server was helpful. They kindly served up a warm cookie and ice cream for hubby’s birthday treat.

Delicious barbecue!

We really enjoyed our dinner here. We loved the country atmosphere and the food. We had a reservation, which I heartily recommend. Extensive bar with lots of options. We ate our fill and took home doggie bags. I would go back again!

Good Food, Good People, excellent music

By Olivier |

Went there on a friday night. Place was really packed, so better place your reservation in advance. We had Wings and ribs, Taste was pretty good. At 10:30pm the live band went on stage and we had a really good time

Fun but they didn't clean up blood

By Tracy A |

This was a very fun bar that we went to late on a Monday. It was packed and we had to wait about 15 min to get in. The band was awesome and played great music. The only negative was that a girl fell and cut her leg on a broken beer bottle pretty severely. She bled heavily and they didn't clean up the blood. They swept up the glass but left puddles of blood for everyone to just walk through.

Beer Can America

By Anne F |

Modern country vibe. Tons of concert posters and a beer can american flag! Menu looked tasty but only stopped in for the bloody mary which was spicy and delectable with lots of veggie toppings. Random cool country bar in the middle of chicago.

Surprisingly Great BBQ

By Alan G |

A great BBQ meal that exceeded our expectations. Some of the best brisket and pulled pork I have ever had outside of the South! The spicy honey butter was also a treat. Our server Julio was awesome and made it fun. Check it out in downtown Chicago

Great whisky selection

By maxpaste |

This place has a huge whisky selection and some nice outdoor seating. They have a “barn” on the street for outdoor seating which was comfortable for our November visit. Very crowded on a Saturday so good for them that business is back

Chilled out bar with good food

By M88se88 |

Lively bar with a good vibe. We went in for food and a few drinks to start off a Friday night which this bar was perfect for. Good portions and well priced for what we had. Good service from the bar staff - would recommend this bar as a place to visit in Chicago

Food amazing. Drinks great.

Food amazing. Drinks great. Atmosphere fantastic. This is just a great place with a great vibe and our hostess Emily Rose was just perfect.

Country and western bar

By swedish dinks |

Is this a place for dinks? Yes, sure is. Se went to this place with three kids and their parents. Not a problem to squeeze in seven people in a Saturday night. Ut was packed. Interior This is a true blue country and western bar. Food Great burgers and meat!! Drinks? Beers, drinks and bourbon. A lot of the, and tasty! Service We got a friendly waiter but he missed that the kids wanted regular burgers and not cheeseburger. For three kids between 6 and 10, it is a biff deal. Not to mention that we got 1 milkshake out of two, wich was the desert for two of the three abow. Would two dinks come back? Oh yes!

Country Karaoke on Tuesdays

By Cat R |

We had a group of about 12 from Louisiana for Country Music Karaoke on a Tuesday night. WOW! We refuse to sing karaoke without a live band anymore. It was a unique and downright fun experience. The food portions were large, and the cocktails were delightful. Service was fantastic, and we wish we could return every Tuesday!
