Slavic cuisine in Dallas

By Maria Yuritsa |

I was born in Russia! I have Slavic roots and taste! Slavic, Ukrainian, Georgian, Uzbek cuisine left the indelible mark on my soul and tongue! The culture of Slavic taste will live in my heart and in the genes. My husband prepared a wonderful surprise for my birthday. He took me to Bubala! Last time we were in Bubala on Christmas! We came around 4 pm on Thursday. It was empty. A waitress was very hospitable and gave us the best table. The manager was also very kind and asked how we are doing every 10 minutes. We were surprised they offered us an alcohol menu. They did not have one before. We ordered khachapuri, borsch, pelmeni, kebab, desserts. The waitress gave 2 liters of compote to my son! The meal was super tasty and fresh! Prices for the wine and food were lower than in other local restaurants we have visited. The wine list is big. You will find your favorite wine or drink. I recommend Bubala to everyone. Every Friday and Saturday evening they have a special event with a DJ and belly dances. I evaluated the level of Bubala: Service – 5 Food – 5 Wine/cocktails – 5 Atmosphere – 5 Prices – 5

Visited Bubala for a dinner with friends and family. Great place to enjoy authentic Uzbek culture atmosphere with delicious food and great service. Felt like I am in the ancient Samarkand. Staff is amazing - professional and friendly. Entertainment is vibrant and diverse, for all tastes. Highly recommend to visit this restaurant if you are looking for an unforgettable experience.

Tasty Russian cuisine, excellent value

Our party of four had a delicious meal for about $100 before tip. Everything is fresh and cooked from scratch - we had a sampling of the borscht soup, dumplings, pickled herring, a really rich cheese-filled bread, stroganoff, and stuffed cabbage rolls. The owners are Uzbek but anyone who likes and appreciates Eastern European flavors will recognize and enjoy this well- seasoned, tasty menu. The decor is upscale. They do not have a liquor license but we saw that the tables around us had BYOB wine for a $5 corkage fee. There was a big screen showing music videos in (I guess) Uzbeki, so that was something you don’t see every day. 🙂

Great place to gather with your family and friends

This is not the first time I come to Bubala. My friends and I come here for birthday celebrations and anniversaries. Always have a great time dancing to the life music by amazing Lina. Last night we came here with my family to celebrate our mom’s 78th birthday. The atmosphere, white table covers, amazing waiters, music, delicious food made it feel my mom very special. Our server Ylya took a very good care of us. I really like that this place is BYOB, we were able to bring our favorite wine. The life music starts at 8 pm, and mom got to dance on her birthday. Definitely a great birthday to remember. Thank you, Bubala, can’t wait to go back!

Great food!

Excellent Uzbek food with some traditional favorite Russian foods. Loved their herring under a fur coat, dumplings and cabbage rolls. Honey cake for dessert was amazing, as was the tarragon & pear soda.

NOT HAPPY

Not okay to charge a 22% tip automatically without telling the patrons. Ended up paying a 40% tip. Food was good, but NOT 40% tip good. Especially after having to ask multiple times for the check. Don’t like shady practices like that. Pretty unethical for a table of 3. Around $150.00 for 3 people NO alcohol. NOT HAPPY
