Very interesting

Quite an interesting museum. Our kids enjoyed seeing animals up close. Avid sportsmen would definitely enjoy this.

Good Food Inside a Classic Bar

By lbog |

After visiting the museum, you muss pass through the saloon/cafe to exit. So who is not going to want to eat here? The saloon, with LOTS of history in its own right, is chock full of animals, CRAZY chandeliers, an authentic bar, and lots of tile! There is a fairlly good assortment of food to eat. We were told the burgers here are better than the restaurants on RIVERWALK. My husband had the Mexcian chicken salad. It was YUMMO. Lots of veggies, tons of chicken breast, and great dressing with tortilla chips! I had a basic griled cheese w/bacon on TEXAS toast; just what I needed! All you can drink at the self-serve fountain makes this a great place for families. If you want to splurge, have a beer or milkshake from the bar. You can eat here any day for lunch; museum admission is NOT required. Stop by if you get the chance; the visuals alone are worth the trip!

Great museum not terribly great food

By Jennifer S |

From the moment you walk through the front doors, you're greeted by an authentic character that will tell you all that the saloon has to offer. The museums are filled with interesting historical facts & equally as interesting displays. One word of caution, the menu is not overly diverse & what you do order never seems to be anything other than bar type quality.

Interesting place!

By freygadas |

When i knew about this place i have to be there to drink a huge beer and have some snaks... its curious the large collection of animal horns, i didnt enter upstairs becaus i just went there for a drink... I liked the place i drink 2 very good and fresh big homemade beers (you can see the photo!) I wanted to go there because the history of the place and i was very thirsty!!

Weird Hours and Unfriendly Staff

By mary l |

We called ahead and were told that the cafe was open until 5:00 pm. When we arrived at 3:00 pm we stopped at the cafe and the people working at the counter told us to order drinks at the bar. We did and then mentioned we were going to order food. The bartender said the restaurant was closing at but yelled over and asked if they would take one more order. We walked directly over to the food counter and the person working said they were closed. I have no idea if this is a typical experience because we didn't go back. The bar is good and the animals on the walls are interesting but otherwise I was not impressed.

Burger and a Beer

By Arnold S |

Stopped at the Buckhorn for lunch and I ordered a buckhorn burger and a beer. The burger was good, but nothing special, It was like a bacon cheeseburger with bbq sauce on it and fries. Their beer selection was minimal; not much for micro-brews. An unexpected surprise was a $1.10 discount on the burger due to our prio4 visit to the ranger museum. The price was similar to what one would pay for a similar burger at most establishments. All in all, a decent lunch although it does get a little tiring having over a hundred mounted animal heads watching you eat your lunch.

Fantastic!

By Townsend_Flash |

The oldest saloon in Texas. Upon entry, a fellow looking like Buffalo Bill sold us tickets for the museum with a 10% good discount. I ordered the bacon cheese burger with a fried egg. Great tasting, especially with at 30 oz. Axis IPA. Great atmosphere on a Final Four weekend!!

Great fun and History

By Reid R |

Really enjoyed the museum - especially the horn chairs, Texas Rangers exhibit and the wonderful mounts. Its inexpensive and really a fun stop. Great for kids too!

Amazing displays of Texas Rangers & Taxidermy

By Jackin614 |

I was pretty skeptical at the price to get in, but was quickly amazed at the size and extensiveness of the museum. The Texas Rangers museum was quite impressive! There are more mounted hunting trophies and stuffed animals here than anywhere else I've ever been (maybe as many as all other places I've ever been combined). Great traditional bar too!

Very excellant burger!

By Vynette S |

We had lunch here on a quiet Sunday after visiting the Ranger and Buckhorn museum. Very few customers at that time. The burger was one of the best ever and the large portion of fries were also very, very good. The price was more than reasonable. There was a 10% discount when a ticket to the museum portion was shown. Yes, we would eat here again---in a heartbeat!

Hasn't changed...

By txmmoore |

Went here over the weekend. The last time I was here was about 5 years ago. Well, you would think after 5 years something would have changed? Nope. Still the same view, menu, and such. This has been a pretty good visitor trap for years, but it is now just the same. You need to change!

Surrounded by history

By ChazK63 |

Just a short walk from the Alamo this is worth taking a few minutes to see. First of all, it's free (although it would be neighborly to buy a beverage while you are in there - a good place to wet your whistle after walking around the Alamo). There is a nice display of Teddy Roosevelt items and you can picture him there recruiting Rough Riders. It's an neat piece of history that you can touch and experience.

Great Spot!

By boyohboy10 |

The food is good and the room gives you so much to see. The setting is like an 1880s bar with mounted heads of many different animals.

Howdy

By caio591 |

We sat at the bar and had a beer. Very friendly staff from the cowboy in full regalia who greeted us at the door and asked if we came for the museum or for a draink to the bartender. Very entertaining atmosphere. Lots of fun.

Loved it!

By Michelle G |

The atmosphere and history of this place is amazing! The decor is definitely picture worthy. The drinks are great! The Bloody Mary was one of the best I’ve had. Good beer selection too.

Finally found that burger!

By Meg107 |

From the start of our trip I have been looking for a good burger and hot dog. Gave up on the hot dog. Maybe they are just like UK, or you have to queue for 3 hours. Dont do queues. We went back to Buckhorn as the food was good last time. You go to a little counter choose your food, and take a number to your table, and it is cooked for you and brought to your table. The atmosphere in the place is good, there is a well stocked bar, and its family friendly. Nice dining tables and comfy chairs. The Buckhorn burger was fantastic, really tasty minced beef, a thick slice of bacon on top, really nice unsoggy bun with no sloppy mayonnaise etc MMMM He had Steak-cheese sandwich. Burgertype bun, pulled sirloin with melted cheese and a lump of bacon. Really tasty. Good service friendly staff $22 for the meal He went to the bar while I ordered. I said Id have a small whatever he was having. It was bud lite, but Im not sure it was small. His was in the usual tall glass, mine was a goldfishbowl on a stem! It was icecold and went down so well on a hot Saturday afternoon

A fun place to visit

By NhWishfultraveler |

We didn't go to the museum but we had lunch and margaritas there. Looking at all the taxidermy on the walls entertained us while waiting for food. Let's you see what the old west was like.

Great as always

By Mr S |

You always expect the same great signature service here, thats the main reason I stop here. From their signature drink, to a vast array of beer selection.

Taxidermy

By bob34280fl |

Sat at bar for lunch on Monday. Chris the bartender was the best , he knows how to make a drink, very friendly, helpful, and efficient. Fried pickels , Jalapeno peppers, Happy burger, cheese steak all great.

Good food, nice glassware

By Mary V |

We ate lunch here after we toured the museum portion. Good, plentiful food with cool glasses for the beer!

Very Interesting!

By Janet W |

We have been to Buckhorn several times and love it each time we go. So much to see and a great learning experience for the younger crowd.

Just had a mid day beer.

By BigRedOneArkansas |

Interesting bar/restaurant. Lots of western goodies on display. Good gift shop bit over priced. Well worth a look see. The museum was too pricey for us.

Tourist trap with bad food

By Westhawk |

Not table service. Order from a till and they bring it to you. Shocker they don’t have coffee, even though it’s on the menu. Lady said to buy it next door at the donut shop and bring it in. Tables were dirty, food was bland and tasteless. Change the oil and maybe the fries and onion rings wouldn’t taste like dirty oil. Maybe it’s good at night for a drink, but with a 100 restaurants in the area, go elsewhere.

Nice combination

By Diane B |

We were looking for a tourist attraction and lunch- this was perfect! We toured the 2 museums for about $20 per person. Got 10% off our lunch. Food was good- the atmosphere was great. Don’t go here if animals mounted upsets you-we were able to buy beer to walk around the museums. A great unique place- a must see if touring the area.

Bacon Cheeseburger Please!

By Misty Forbes |

Bacon Cheeseburger Please! The burgers are awesome! We loved them. Came with fries and we ordered a side of beer cheese and it was soooooo good! Highly recommend burger and fries. I also ordered a Margarita from the bar, I actually would not recommend that. I know each bartender is different, but mine was not good.

Texas at it's best

By clois-gary |

Wonderful food and decor. walk thru museum and gift shop. The feel of on old time saloon . Right downtown.

Great cafe

By BagmanNZ |

We stopped off here after our museum visit and loved it. Beautiful cafe food at good prices. Superb service and a place we’ll visit again on our next trip to San Antonio.

Cafe and Museum

By pdSixty8 |

This is a major Texas style tourist trap and should be high on your list if visiting San Antonio. The first floor contains a good cafe restaurant and a gift shop. The museum is on the second floor. The food taste good and will enjoy eating in an old fashioned saloon with heads of animals hung all over the walls. It is definitely a site to see and yes they are all real. This place is a Mecca for taxidermy where will find championship trophies and strange animals. The gift shop is very touristy and lots of items for the kids. The museum is really cool and see a bunch of Wild West artifacts and more unique taxidermy items.

Wild West in Downtown

By Chuck R |

Good place to stop for a cold beer and a dose of San Antonio history. If you like the western cowboy, you'll like this place. As you enter, you get the feel of an old west saloon, but with a modern kitch. It is full of stuffed animals that may be interesting for the whole family. It's only a short walk from the Alamo and Riverwalk.

Historical

By FroggyG73 |

My first time ever setting foot in the restaurant and food was very good and had some drinks at the bar. Our bartender was very friendly and knew his alcohol. Didn't take the tour but maybe next time when I back in SA, I will definitely take a tour.

Much larger & better Museum than we expected!

By Judy J |

We were surprised at the huge display of world-wide animals and fish and loved learning about the Texas Rangers. Even the Saloon had many, many kinds of animals decorating the room. There is a lot to learn if you spend time reading and listening.

Wow!!!!

By river6132 |

Love all the mounts of non-typical animals. Great beer on tap and yea there is food too. I have never saw so many nice racks in one place. No the deer heads.

If You Are Not Into Hunting Trophies, You May Freak!

By John M |

A bar with more taxidermy on the walls than you have ever seen. Awesome layout with a Museum to boot. More history than you would expect. Friendly staff and an arcade as well!

Great food!

By Jennifer S |

I had the chicken fried chicken special which was great. My husband said his jalapeño burger was wonderful. My son's fried catfish was the best he's had. Very satisfactory!

Wild and Fun

By Zimminaroundtheworld |

I did not really know what to expect when I visited Buckhorn Cafe. I knew it was a well known place, so I was going to come in and at least grab a beer. The individual at the counter talked me into visiting the museum as well. Let's start with the bar. They have food and drinks here, I had a beer and they come in huge sizes! Meanwhile while you are sitting at the bar area, don't be afraid to look around and view the stuff animals around you! Next, the museum. At the corner where Ripley's is, there was someone selling tickets here, don't worry they are legit and discounted. I entered the museum and was fascinated with the collection on display. I loved the history, oddities, animals, etc. There was so much to see here, I just did not expect it. I found the mounts to be interesting and really enjoyed some of the interactive experiences. I would highly recommend coming here to visit the museum and enjoy a beer at the bar!

Lot of charactor

By Ogof |

This was a really fun place to visit. Be sure to spend time in the museum's. Bar staff were very friendly and shared the history of the bar. We had the sliders and mushrooms for lunch, very tasty and good value.

good lunch menu

By Johnny M |

They have good food, reasonable prices, but limited hours for food. It was mostly burgers/sandwiches.

Decent food, annoying hawkers

By MKB1701 |

Stopped in for lunch, and the pushy staff all but ensured we wouldn't be taking a tour of the museum or other items on site. Constant money grab abound. Lunch was decent - order at the counter and it's brought to you. My wife's chicken was good, and I particularly enjoyed the sausage on my combo plate. Prices were fair in light of the blatant attempts of the establishment to part you with the contents of your wallet. A good quick lunch stop (particularly if you want a beer) but otherwise something you can pass on.

Get a beer, don't eat here

By Teachall |

Strange hours for the "cafe" Sometimes open later, sometimes not. More often open for food till 3:00 PM. Not worth the price. More like Gordon food supply company than anything homemade. Fajitas were greasy. Good beer selection. The animals on the wall are a great diversion. There is a children's arcade on one side, the museum on the other. Gift shop has the usual trinkets.

Museum Great, Food so-so

By Gary R |

Was a real treat seeing all of the interesting stuff in the museum. Think had we to do it over we would have visited the museum and ate elsewhere

Happy Hour Begins at 3pm

By MaccaFan1 |

We stopped in here at the Buckhorn when we were out wandering around San Antonio. Lots of dead animals to see and the beer was very cold. Good happy hour prices.

Good sandwiches and very cold draft beer

By Daria B |

The Cuban is very good and the atmosphere is neat. There is so much to see on those walls! It's worth the experience.

Very enjoyable, bigger than what you think.

By Chris F. |

There is much to see here as far as exhibits go. We found it to be enjoyable and well worth seeing, and recommend it to you as well. There is a gift shop here and an restaurant and bar. You may even take your drink with you as you view the exhibits.

Taxidermy museum.

By Lyn M |

Below average food. Actually made me sick later in the day. All the dead animals watch you eat so mind your table manners. Our 5 year old thought they were pretty cool.

Great Time to be Had!

By Libbie67 |

This was a very unique place to eat. The food was pretty good, and the museum was a lot of fun. A great place for kids and hunters. The brisket was great, and so were the nachos! The museum had all kinds of wild animals on display, from ground hogs to moose. They even had fun exhibits to enjoy. An all around great place to visit while in San Antonio.

Just had a drink

By Jilly070 |

We had heard mixed things on the food here, so we just had a drink after touring the Museum. They close at 3:00 most days I believe, and did the day we were here. There is a good gift shop here as well. Heads up- if you have something against wild animal heads/mountings, this isn’t the place for you! There are hundreds hanging all around the cafe! We thought it was a cool atmosphere though!

Buckhorn Visit

By William H |

The beer was cold and the food was great! There are some real trophy mounts here and lots of history to read about. The museum is one of a kind and well organized. Food and drinks were reasonably priced and the service was excellent.

The displays in the Museum and fascinating and if you like animals - make sure you stop!

By Porsche-the-Traveler |

The displays are worth stopping for! Give yourself an hour and a half as it goes on and on and on (upstairs and downstairs) - so much to see! Many great interactive displays for children as well as adults! If you are hungry, I'd find a different place to satisfy your hunger, BUT if you want a drink - this is the bar to stop at!! One like no where else!

Remember The Buckhorn or Forget It

By wallywilbur |

at one time way back in history , this was probably a must see place but animal heads hanging everywhere seems to have had it's day and now don't see the appeal, the drinks are way overpriced , the place is just a tourist stop - kinda like a wax museum with dead animals, staff not especially friendly - nice location to put a good bar and restaurant

Quirky fun place.

By JShearer1213 |

This is a saloon, museum, and tourist souvenir store. Draft root beer is the best thing on the menu.

I like this place

By Greg12342014 |

First off, the atmosphere is perfect. Had a old folks choir show up and sing God bless America. Great selection of stuffed animals. Great bar. Great employees. The bar food looks good. Perfect place for a drink

Good Prickly Pear

By jordansbulls |

Went here today exclusively for its Buckarita Prickly Pear at the cafe and it was pretty good. Had been here years ago and wanted to go back and I did and glad I tried out there new specialty.

Very interesting

By rogrsa |

We didn't eat there but saw it on our bus tour and wanted to go in. They have many craft beers on tap. You can still buy a beer with a pair of antlers or the rattle part of a rattlesnake. The bartender was friendly and told us a lot about the history of the saloon. It is a fun place to go.

Huge place

By ladyice1725 |

Between the bullet ridden car, every animal possible, cafe, and the numerous animal horned furniture - it was different. I really enjoyed the Texas Ranger part the best.

Interesting place

By Nik051612 |

The food was great. The museums were much larger than we thought. The only downside was that there were no waitresses. You stood in line to order your food.

Great lunch sandwich

By denmil17201 |

Went to the museum and decided to eat lunch afterwards. Nice specialty sandwich with a great sauce. Just the right portions for lunch and good, quick service too.

Buckhorn

By Betsy S |

My husband and I were staying right across the street from the Buckhorn and we went there for lunch (They are not open for dinner). He ordered the chicken friend steak and said it was ok. It was supposed to come with fries, (which it did not) but we didn't realize that until we were getting ready to leave. I had the catfish and it was good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pretty cool in a western bar kinda way. Would I go back, No. I would say it's a one time experience. There is a museum (for a fee) attached to the building, but we did not go to it.

Very informative, self guided, would reccommend for families

By Kay M |

If you are into the Texas Rangers, this is the place to go. There is so much history in the walls of this establishment. It gives the full history of the Texas Rangers with many added features. The tour is self guided and you may spend as much time as you like. The personnel there were all friendly and very helpful.

What a horny san Antonio secret!

By Miriah H |

My husband and i ran into this place by accident. We were just strolling from the riverwalk to the alamo through town and there it was. Wow! More than we expected! Definitely worth the money of admission. The amount of diverse history and the amount of animals from around the world was amazing. The hallway of horns make sure to take pics! The presidential furniture made of horns. The Texas Rangers history was astounding. Floor after floor of history, way more than we had expected. Be sure to start off with a drink from the historic bar to begin your tour its a nice touch to be able to bring it with you.

Don't waste your time!

By Fallsbiker |

This is a bizarre mixture of two headed calves, furniture made from horns, dead animal heads, and a car with bullet holes painted on it. And then they charge $20. Just go to the legitimate museums. This is a tourist trap!

Cool place

By Rene Martin |

We ate here before we toured the Museum. Its a simple menu but that was perfect for our family of 4. I'd eat here again.

Neat Place, Poor Food

By Downola |

This is a place that is definitely worth a stop in, if for nothing else just to walk around and see all the wild and kitchsy things they have to offer. That said, the food was not very good. I had the Jamaican Chicken Tacos and they were a mess. The chicken was poor quality - tasted like it had been pulled from a large bag of chicken chunks they you buy at the grocery store for salads. The chips and just from a bag of Lays, but assembled into a bowl. Come for the sights, leave for better food

Double museum in one spot

By John Diane R |

Museum was cool, but food was lousy. Lots of history about Texas Rangers. Lots of dead animals in parts of exhibition. Gift shop had a lot of neat stuff.

Cool location as long as you like dead animals

By John Z |

Interesting bar/museum with lots of mounted animal heads. Good drink selection, service was pretty good, pricing was fair.

Must Visit

By vesch62 |

A must see when in San Antonio! What a great experience as soon as you step inside the barroom. From the atmosphere of the museum, chock full of unique finds and interesting facts about the Texas Rangers, all the animals to the great lunch, it was an entertaining afternoon.

Fun, but not PETA friendly

By Davidamy617 |

We loved our visit, but don't go if you will be upset by displays of hunted animals. The place started by accepting antlers instead of cash. There are antlered animals all over. They are displayed as trophys, nothing gory. There is a museum attached that we did not do. The service was great. The kitchen has limited hours.

Waited, and waited and waited...got old waiting!

By AnnArborMHT |

We were attending a show at the Majestic Theatre and made the mistake of not getting a diner reservation, so we ended up at the Buckhorn out of desperation. We though two simple salads would be delivered promptly and we could easily move on to the show, especially because the restaurant wasn't very busy. It's not a sit down café; you place your order and they bring it to your table, while you get your own drinks. Our order went in at 6:50 and we waited and waited! at 7:15 my husband inquired about our salads as several people who came after us had food. It was finally delivered to us at 7:30...really! My husband's chicken salad was good, but the chef salad was ridiculous ... one egg, a few tiny tomatoes and some cheese for $9.98. The atmosphere is interesting, laided back, but the wait and food don't equal a return visit.

Suppppeeerrrr

It was raining and i didnt want to buy an umbrella but when i saw whta they had.... i had to have it!!! Lady was also really friendly!!!! Im really happy with what i bought althoug it didnt rain anymore!!!

A Stop on the Double Decker Tour

By 581conniek |

Great photo opportunity with two museums inside along with bar and restaurant. One of the better gift shops.

Birthday group

By Robert H |

Visited San Antonio for a birthday celebration and decided to stop by Buckhorn Saloon. Had a wonderful time, food was good, but the best part was Ray Ray the bartender, undoubtedly the best margaritas we've ever had, this was the opinion of the group of 16. Thanks for a great place to visit and enjoy friends.

Something different but fun

By JerseyRonnay |

Awesome little museum with a carnival like atmosphere. We paid I believe 17 dollars and got to see both sides (the TX ranger museum is in the same building). Something you don't get to see in every city which is awesome and always appreciated. Got an awesome pulled pork sandwich from the cafe after. The drink at the bar left a lot to be desired unfortunately...not a lot of rum in my piña colada for the 10 dollars I got charged.....but that's honestly my only complaint.

good ambiance, average food

By Graham M |

Tries to recreate wild west bar atmosphere but food more like standard fast food. Worth a visit but be prepared to wait for average food.

It's worth a visit.

By Severine E |

It’s really the place to come for a little break before going to visit the museum, the boss is very nice, we eat pretty well,

Average food but great atmosphere

By SUEBIDOUX |

Worth the visit for the historical value and decor we did not visit the adjacent museum since the entry price to us was too high16$ per person seemed excessive but we did have a good draft beer ok hamburger but frozen fries. Please go for the decor and the historical value.

Disappointed.....

By Lynn C |

This restaurant had been 'bigged' up on our city tour and consequently we felt a little disappointed. Not in the surroundings which are Old Texas and the many interesting mounts on the walls.....but the food. Reminded us a bit of school dinners. Not very appealing. But then again maybe the fare just wasn't to our taste. But would definitely recommend it as a stop for a beer and a good look around. 3 mains (bought beers separately) came to $42. Didn't have time to take in the museum which may have raised our experience of the place. Certainly a visual experience.

Insensitive

By Barbdell523 |

Did not go to this place, but have a comment. They have a man in cowboy attire who stands outside, points a gun at people & shoots. This may be funny/cute to some. Unfortunately, I have been faced with someone pointing a real gun at me & shooting. This really upset me & when I went back the next day to comment on this, the woman manager could care less & basically told me to get lost.

Offbeat place

By Erich O |

Good food, nothing special. Museum very different. Not the standard. Very entertaining. Definitely a must do.

Not very good eats or drink...just different

By The OCD Traveler |

My wife and I stopped in here after seeing it on a tour. If was kind of cool...lots of antlers. The place is huge and drinks were decent, worth walking through.

A Tourist Trap But Fun

By historylv2014 |

The gift store was wonderful. Went to the bar and had a bite. Service needs a little help and burger was OK - not great. When you are touring the Riverwalk area it is a fun stop. The dressed up people at the door were a bit much. Kids will either love them or be scared. The mounted heads on all of the walls were interesting.

Neat place - lots of mounts

By GoobsDad |

We came here for a catered networking dinner as a part of a trade show at which we were exhibiting. The self guided tour was very interesting with some Texas history, TONS of taxidermy, and lots of interesting exhibits. I liked the "side show" exhibits upstairs - even if they were maybe geared toward a younger crowd (or maybe not). The catered dinner was OK - typical high volume fare with a TexMex theme. It was served in one of the upstairs ballrooms and seating was inadequate, so there were a lot of people standing with their meals who would have rather been sitting (including me), but that's a small nit to pick. All in all, a fun place to visit and I would have liked to spend a little bit more time looking around and relaxing rather than "networking." I may go back for a second look if I'm back in SA.

A trip to old Texas

By ThomROC |

Great burgers and atmosphere surrounded by lots of animal heads hanging overhead. It looks like an old saloon from old Texas. And then, there's the small museum next door and part of the building.

Love the atmosphere!!

By Jrennae |

Held a private gathering here, never been before. Walked into this menagerie of taxidermist wildlife. Really interesting place to visit, nice bar and food!! Take your camera to get some pictures!!

Food was cold, salty and overpriced!

By AlmostFamousRocker |

Tried the Buckhorn because of the museum. The wait was long. There is one person taking orders and money, which slows the process. You have to order your own food. The food was horrible. To much salt on everything and the food was cold. They give you plastic cups for drinks. We hesitated to send it back but we did and the chicken fried steak was undercooked and mashed potato warm but not hot.. I would never recommend this place.

Visual treat

By Old Apple Barn |

We basically just looked around and had a drink at the massive bar. Worth a look. Didn't go through the museum but it looked interesting. Just off the riverwalk by a block.

Decent food

By Ksmith727 |

My kids got burgers and fries; they said they were pretty good. I got the pulled pork and sausage with potato salad and beans. The pulled pork was great, just enough BBQ sauce too. The beans were probably some of the best I’ve had. Portions were enough that we didn’t have room for dessert.

Buckhorn Saloon

By TripMember06172016 |

We went here for a drink in the saloon. Great atmosphere, several very interesting animal mounts all around. At the bar there was a little history which you could read about the place and the mounts. There is a 78 point deer head above the bar, something you have to go see. The museum was there as well but we didn't have time to go in. That will be on my list of things to do next time.

Texas Ranger museum is good

By peterschofield37 |

Agree with the dead animal comments, we didn't even look. We wanted to see the Texas Ranger museum, which made it expensive $40 as entry is to both and you can come back the day after, plus discount if you eat. The gift shop is very good some different gifts of good quality as well as the usual tat. Were able to buy a drink (happy hour) and then walk round.

Second Time Not As Charming

By TFopinion |

We first stopped here in 2011 during a cross country road trip so when back in town five years later, we couldn't resist. Besides, the uniqueness of this place, friendly bartender and great Bloody Marys at the time made our stop here very enjoyable. The place looked the same but the bartenders weren't as friendly/sociable and the Bloody Marys not as good - they were still tasty but the 'homemade' mix wasn't the same and overall the drink lacked something that it had before. Not sure what. They only topped the drink off with olives - I've had Bloody Marys elsewhere that came with olives, celery, pickles, etc. places that make each drink a work of art. The mozzarella sticks were very good and plentiful (eight of them) but the burger sliders were embarrassing - tasty but not true sliders but instead a regular size burger they sliced in half and put it on a regular roll sliced in half. What a cheap shortcut. So overall we liked our drinks and food but I guess I shouldn't have expected to find this place as appealing as it was 5 years ago.

Interesting place for a beer!

By J L |

We stopped in to grab a beer on the way to a dinner. This is a very interesting place and seemingly typical "saloon". There are anymore heads mounted all over the place and lots of museum rooms. We didn't have time to do the tour, but the atmosphere was great for a beer. The beer selection, however, was a bit limited (surprisingly) and it was served in plastic cups. Maybe that just adds to the experience!

Can’t wait to return!

By Deborah S |

Buckhorn Burger was fantastic!! Fries were awesome and our server was the sweetest young lady!! Perfect lunch on Memorial weekend!

Loved it

By LetsGoAway70 |

This place is great and great for kids, too. Lots of taxidermied animals and horns. Also, lots of history here. And there is a bar. Win-win-win.

Great Museum !

By Steve G |

Visited the Museum and Gift Shop . . . . . I thought it was well done and worth the visit. The gift shop had some interesting things . . . . . . like tongue scrappers and candy cigarettes . . . . only at the Buckhorn !

Just ok.

By js_mo_50 |

The food here is ok, nothing special. Interesting decor and history. The museum is pretty pricey....not sure it was worth the admission cost.

Quirky bar for a drink

By DizzyBlonde23 |

Visited as was passing by, saw it was busy and had heard from people that we had to visit to say we had been at least one! The restaurant was very busy but we just wanted a drink so sat up to the bar. The prickly pear margarita that I had was very good and a good size although expensive (around $11) Staff were efficient but not overly friendly. Did not eat so cannot comment on this. Whilst I enjoyed my drink and the bar, all of the taxidermy didn’t sit well with me (although I know it’s old) especially as most of the species were hunted and the place seems to celebrate this fact.

If you like dead animal heads... Ok

By Don H |

We were disappoint but this place... Lots of animal heads and a "cowboy"that was really a Barker to grey to in the door... We were disappointed.

Fun

By Gina G |

Enjoyed our visit, had a drink and relaxed in the saloon after enjoying the museum! Great way to spend a few hours. A family would enjoy this as well

Good cheesburger

By David W |

The cheese burgers are some of the best. Hand patted meat, excellent taste. The décor of saloon is a must see for outdoorsmen.

Interesting if you're into hunting and history

By Ga8tr |

In fairness, I'm not a hunter and the pride and joy of this place is all of the animals on display. I'll admit, they did a really nice job of displaying the thousands of fish and animals so if you or your kids are into that, this is absolutely worth stopping for. Plus, it's nice and cool and you can walk through with your beer or other beverage.

Just lunch

By chinoduke |

Must see bar if you admire animal trophies. Incredible. TV station airing show while I ate. Catfish great, fries cold, Cole slaw swimming in mayo. Did not tour museum just enjoyed bar area.

Buckhorn burger

By Barry W |

Food is not that great, but the décor and atmosphere makes up for it. Fun stop. They only serve lunch. Don't expect much.

Great Food & Museum

By W9490MJrobertc |

If you are downtown, this is a great place to put on your list. Food is great and the atmosphere is excellent. The museum is tremendous with a very expansive collection of marine and game animals to see. My first visit and I will be back!

Great place for a corporate event

By Boat-Captain |

They did an outstanding job catering for a large group. While many of the stations served your typical Tex-Mex there were some very good carving stations. The atmosphere was unique and encouraged wandering through the museum.

Only if bored.

By Jake2049 |

The saloon bar is cool and comfortable serving typical burgers and sandwiches. Don't get sucked in to the museum unless you can only do the lower floor. The upstairs museum is a bunch of dead stuffed animals looking worse for wear. The Texas Ranger section was interesting.

What a Spectacular Gem in downtown San Antonio

By Joseph B |

The Buckhorn Saloon and Museum is well worth visiting for locals and tourists alike. You step into a magnificent large barroom adorned with taxidermy trophies of almost every animal, large (elephant) and Small (snake). The bartenedrs are friendly, efficient and fun. Visitors are greeted at the entrance by costumed characters who actually look and sound as if they have been there for hundreds of years. It is both fun and charming.

Take a peek

By 111Buckhorn |

Somewhat dissapointing. Not sure what I expected, but one is met with a old-west bar feel. After that? It's a bar. Food choices were dissapointing. Waitress was nice enough, but the "western feel" ends after about two minutes. Did NOT tour the museum, just had a drink and took in the atompshere. The draft Root Beer is some neat stuff.

Really enjoyed

By Debbie S |

We really enjoyed the museum, walked though while we enjoyed our drinks. The museum has a bunch of Wild West artifacts and more unique taxidermy items.

Overrated

By Gloria C |

Stopped for lunch. Rider at the counter and they drop off yor food at the table. I thought it was too was overpriced - especially for my "chef's salad". It was romain lettuce, 4 cherry tomatoes, 1 sliced egg, about 4 slices of deli ham cut up and a little cup of croutons. For $10.99? Really? My husband had a burger and fries. The burger was ok. The fries were good as long as you ate them when they first came out of the kitchen. They got limp very quickly.

Quirky museum.

By Bear H |

Buckhorn's is a quirky museum and saloon. You get a drink at the bar and can take it with you through the museum which includes the Buckhorn and Texas Ranger museums. Both are a lot of fun. Buckhorn's is kind of quirky and has the feel of a Circus Sideshow. I think some small children could get upset, but most would probably have a blast. My wife and I spent a good 2 1/2 hours walking through looking at all the stuffed animals, fish, and other very interesting oddities. They even had Bonnie and Clyde's last car there. (or a reasonable facsimile). Even the bar was fun to sit in just to rest a bit after walking much of the day. This is a block north and 3 blocks east of the Alamo.

Unique and fun

By David C |

This is a one place of a kind. Unique and somewhat educational of the great variety of mounted animals. There is also an area of the side shows of the county fairs in the past. The food very good. It was a fun, different experience.

Great borracho beans made on site

By docnakona |

Popped in for quick bite. Short of a snack bar looking setup. But they had outstanding borracho beans. Probably the best in San Antonio. Coolest part is that at 1pm on weekdays they broadcast a local talk show (SA Live, Channel 12). If you're not careful you might find yourself walking through their set.

Great Turkey Sandwich

By GaryC103 |

Had a quick lunch here after visiting The Alamo. Was the best turkey sandwich and Cole slaw I've had in a long time. Sandwich prepared on a flat grill, very hot and tasty.

One of the Best Places to See in San Antonio

By Ranger5000 |

An amazing collection of horns, fish, firearms and much more, highly recommended to visitors in San Antonio, hit the Alamo, go a few blocks over and see this immense collection of STUFF

I rated it a 1 because you can't give them less

By Ron H |

I ordered a pulled pork sandwich for $10.00 and it was terrible. First of all it came on a tiny bun, there was very little meat on the bun. They were also pretty stingy with the BBQ sauce. Service was slow. I will never eat there again

San Antonio Trip

By Edward L |

So I had to go grab a quick bite to eat during out lunch break and thought I would run to Jimmy Johns but I turned the wrong way and ran into this place. Now I had been in here the day before looking at gifts and decided to try their food. The special of the day was the Brisket Sandwich which can with fries the drink was extra. The brisket was good it was tender and not tuff to eat it had barbecue sauce (not enough) onions and pickles. The fries were good and I had a unsweetened ice tea which was fresh. So give this place a try.

Good food and service

By tshaw34 |

Popped in for lunch and then to tour the museums. Burgers are hand smashed and cooked perfectly. The Cowboy Bites were a fun app. Crunch and creamy and jalapeno didn't overpower the sweetness of the corn. Fries were spot on crunchy outside and soft interior. Shiner Bock and a burger go great together.

Quite a safari

By Linda M |

At first all the dead and stuffed animals bothered me. I thought it was a waste of life. Then as I saw more and more of the great variety of animals that the Buckhorn has collected over years and years, I felt educated. I never would have been able to experience all these animals in real life. What beautiful animals. I now know about their skeletons, skulls, foods, sizes, colors, fur, and on and on..... If someone had to hunt them down, at least their former lives educate us now as to their worth and bring about their appreciation. The Texas Ranger Museum section is more of a biographical tribute to several Rangers. The Ranger Museum in Waco, TX is much better. We didn't try the restaurant. Entry fee seems a little over-priced. There is an okay gift shop. No gift shop left behind.

Food

By Yeatshome |

This place does the worse cheese steak sandwich ever. They put what I believe to be burger sauce and processed cheese on it. If they read this stop the sauce and get a Swiss or Monterey Jack cheese.

Disgusting lunch. Very disappointed.

By PatriciaOnTheRoad |

We went for lunch. My husband had the burger which tasted like something from McDonald's. I had the ham and swiss sandwich. It had 2 thin slices of no-flavor ham, a slice of processed swiss flavored cheese food, on a no-flavor white roll that resembled a hot dog bun. It literally stuck to the roof of my mouth. These 2 items with no drinks, came to $20. What a ripoff. The museum is very cool though. Just don't eat the food.

Animals

By Lkrr99 |

It was quite interesting to say the least not used to being outnumbered by stuffed animals. Qiyite a display everywhere. Good was pretty good as was the service. Bit pricey because of displays.

Quick Lunch & Museum

By Fanilow76 |

This is a must visit museum full of wild animal trophies as well as housing the Texas Rangers Museum. Before or after your visit stop by the saloon and have a bite to eat. The chicken salad sandwich and fries was amazing as well as the barbecue brisket plate. You can watch TV while seated at one of the tables or seat at the bar and have some animal head look down on you. Great place to eat and visit while in San Antonio.

Average food, interesting place !

By bigjake392 |

Almost a must see when in San Antone. Was crazy busy when we were there but still fun. Easy walk from the Alamo and other down town places. Burgers and food like that were good but not great. The taxidermy ( although old ) was cool and the rest of the " museum " was fun to see.

really good cheese burger

By wrpupkis |

Needed lunch before entering the museum. Really liked the cheeseburger I ordered. It was done perfectly. Their beer was good too.

Cool Museum Bar

By BDG6610 |

The bar and museum are well worth the visit. We sat at the bar and had a drink and a couple of apps. Drinks were good, apps all fried. Oh well. The Texas Ranger section was very informative and interesting. The stuffed animals and freak show, not so much.

Cool interior, not the greatest menu

By Rachel T |

This place is very cool and quirky. We just had a drink at the bar as the cafe menu was pretty average.

Bar not to miss

By Sue P |

We did not have enough time to see the museum. The bar was built in 1881 and is still owned by the same family. Put this on the TO SEE list. Am sure back in the day this was the bar to be at.

Ride'em Cowboy

By dasiguy |

Just looking in from the street makes you want to go in. Standing in the door is a period dressed U.S. Marshall tipping his hat as you go by. The bar itself is just amazing, all original and exactly where it's been for more than a century. Having a beer you can't help but wonder who were the colorful characters sitting here all those years ago! The bar maid was great and pointed out all kinds of interesting stuff. The wall are full of pictures and every known stuffed animal heads. Unfortunately, i did not have the time to do the museum and the Texas Ranger's museum. It did sound like a good deal as the admission price allows you to come back a 2nd day. Next time, i'm gunnin' for that!

Great bartender

By larikev |

Went into the Buckhorn for rest and drink, and ended up staying over an hour visiting with the bartender. The mixed drinks I had were quite good and my husband was able to have a pearl beer. Lots ambience with all of the wall mounts, animals from all over the world, which was pretty cool. The sheds that decorate the ceilings are all real too, which is pretty impressive.

Good time

By Tim E |

We sat at the bar talking with the bar tender about the history. Great time. Food was good atmosphere fun Did not have time for the museum.

Unique Wild Western Themed Tourist Attraction

By Socks_N_Crocs |

Ok, so this place is definitely a tourist attraction. But it's also a bar and museum like I've never seen before. The museum tour features tons of animal mounts. It seems like they have more mounted animals than there are live ones at a zoo. There also is a side-show element to some of the displays where they have two headed animals and other genetic abnormalities on display. Not particularly my thing, but unique for sure. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers who appeared to be enjoying their meals and beverages. I had a beer which was cold and hit the spot. The cool thing was you can drink while touring the museum. To me that was a bonus as I didn't have a lot of time to stay so I could kill two birds with one stone. There is even an arcade to keep the kids busy if they finish eating before you do.

Good food, order at counter

By dancingbelle47 |

Bought our tickets to the museum from the lady on the corner offering a discount and 10% off on the restaurant. So we took advantage of our 10% off and ate lunch after we did the museum. We have visited the museum several times, but never eaten here until now. It's an order at the counter type deal. I was going to get the crispy chicken salad until I saw that the salads were pre made and sitting in a display cooler at the register. I asked if the burgers were fresh, she said they were, although I was doubtful after seeing the pre made salads but took a chance and ordered the bacon cheese burger. Although it took 30 minutes to get our food, when it did come out, it was very good. The burger was delicious. It was in fact a fresh hand made patty. I was very pleased. It was juicy and delicious. Bacon was crispy. Bun was good. Fries were good and hot and fresh. May have been hand cut as well. My hubby got the buffalo chicken sandwich and he said it was delicious as well. Happy with the food here.

Yes it is the best burger in downtown

By AdventureTx |

Great burger. Counter staff is lacking but other service was good and friendly. And the food was pricey but outstanding.

Very Different Place

By Wayne H |

Recommended by a friend who had been to San Antonio before. Went for food and was disappointed they weren't serving yet, but had several beers anyway. Great bar staff who knew his beer menu. Atmosphere is different with mounted game animals of ALL types and a few exaggerated ones (78 point deer?). Loved the vibe, wished for food!

Tourist Fun

By wblu |

A neat place to go, many things to see, lots of mounted game, museums and a carnival show flare as well. It is reasonably priced adn if in San Antonio I'd recommend going. It is worth the vist and very easy walk from Riverwalk adn hotels. Kinda fun and many thing to see.

A classic to visit while in town

By BomMomMB |

Pretty much a must see. Get a drink on your way into the museum (wonderful margaritas!) and browse the museum while sipping a beer or cocktail. Take the time to read the signage and it will be a fun and educational opportunity.

Buckhorn Saloon.

By Gia S |

The price of the museum has raised to $19.99 but the attraction has not improved. For a first time visit it is worth the go around but if you have visited once, don't spend the money. The burgers are still good but they no longer have fried cheesecake. It was a sad disappointment compared to visits in the past.

good food/great experience

By gov5180 |

Four us us wandered into the Buckhorn not knowing what to expect but when we left the museum and had eaten we felt good about out experience. The museum offered a lot to see and the saloon walls contained trophy animals of all kinds. The service was great and we were happy we stopped there.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

By Brandon G |

The Buckhorn isn't exactly a remote hidden gem, but it's definitely much more than it appears from the street! There is an extremely unique bar and dining area, that provides a comfortable dining experience. The museum is multifaceted! There numerous exhibits that are as educational as they are entertaining! I definitely recommend visiting the Buckhorn to young and old alike!

Inside Open Air Cafe & Saloon Downtown

By JimAllen29 |

After a very busy day of touring San Antonio, Texas, we got hungry and found a real delight. Their menu is large and offerings delectable. We had the Cowboy Plate of sausages and BBQ pork, beans, potato salad, fried mozzarella sticks, Arnold Palmer's, coffee and a brownie. The whole front of the cafe's wall was opened so everyone could enjoy the beautiful day outside while eating and drinking. The staff was outstanding. Whenever we come back to San Antonio, the Buckhorn will be on our lunch location again. There are also two museums connected to the Saloon and they decorated the walls and ceiling with items to draw you into the museums, and we did see them, had too...the place has lasted for more than a century. There is also a curio shop where we walked out with some really cool items. We would recommend this as a must see if you are into Texas history and wildlife museums. One of the museums is the Texas Rangers Museum. Highly recommend you visit and have a great lunch and beverage (hard and soft).

Great rehearsal dinner

By steverA8718SU |

They served a buffet to I guess over 100 . All the brisket and ribs were very good Th corn bread was amazing . They fed us a very good meal. The animal mount and Texas museum was amazing to wander around after or before dinner

Western Pub at its Best

By themccullochclan |

A hot humid day, a cold beer in a pub full of character - what more do you need. The selection of craft beers was great - we had great french fries to tide us over to dinner. Loved the wall coverings of horns and stuffed animals. Bit too tired to visit the museums - even though the doorman offered us discounts. Great escape from the heat. Will try the food next time

Oldest Saloon in Texas, According to the Bar Tender

By Tim J |

I always find it strange when you need to review a cafe separately from the Saloon and Museum it's in, but given that's how this is set up I feel it's necessary to write that the 'Average' rating applies only to the Cafe while the museum itself is excellent. Why? Because the Buckhorn isn't really doing anything special with a space that could be a primo spot for a truly extended experience. You are sitting where Theodore Roosevelt, future President of the United States, sat and chummed with his riding buddies. Why aren't there replica horn chairs (make them out of plastic or painted wood) that give a truly unique flair to this cafe? Why is the seating arranged like you're in a cafeteria? The food is...meh...like eating from a cheaper version of Chili's or Dave and Busters. The bar has a good mix of local drinks though and the bartenders are typically knowledgeable about what fits your pallet. The cafe isn't bad, it isn't great. If you are interested in touring the museum with your kids and you want to know you've got a place to eat at that is accessible and cost effective, this cafe fits the bill. It just isn't a destination.

A real Texas gem!

By Brndn87 |

Buckhorn is amazing! It is the oldest bar in the state, and is surrounded with beautiful mounts of all types! The museum offers plenty to see, the mount museum has thousands of animals and the Texas Ranger museum offers up plenty in terms of Texas history and pride. I love going here every time I visit San Antonio.

Nice bar.

By Thomas R |

Fun place. Lots to see. The food was pretty good but there was entertainment and great place to see stuffed animals! The deer and bear and others were amazing!

Delicious

By whitneyy1 |

The food was delicious and the drinks were great! Had a wonderful time, and the museum was interesting.

Nineteenth century saloon in the Riverwalk area

By ransom007 |

Being in the Riverwalk area means you need to find parking if you drive. There are two museums and a large gift shop in the facility. You order and pay at the counter and your food is delivered to your table when it is ready. There is a bar. It has the decor of a hunting lodge and they play country music in the background. If you are visiting the museums, it would be worthwhile to visit the saloon for a meal or a drink.

Interesting Place, Can You say Deep Fry It

By Colin Archibald |

I think you could get just about anything deep fried here. Not what I would call health food, but tasted good. The Texas Ranger Museum is worth taking the time to walk through. I learned a few things I didn't know.

What a great place to have a beer!!

By camelmania2 |

Stopped in by chance and ended up coming back. Full of history and charm. Very informed and friendly staff.

There's a lotta buckhorns here

By cgelf23 |

Didn't think I'd enjoy this place as much as I did. Lots to read, much to see and the picture taking possibilities are endless. The Texas Rangers and the info on them are enlightening. We had two hours to use before we left San Antonio and actually didn't get to see it all as we would have been late for the airport but its a place you can hang and even have lunch.

Quirky Bar with Eyes...

By SHAWNA B |

Everything about this bar SCREAMS Texas! The bartenders are great and the beer is cold. Great place to relax after the museum!

Nice Tourist Attraction

By Tworivertravelers |

We stopped here for lunch while visiting downtown San Antonio. They are only open for lunch until 3 pm no dinner. Our meals, burger and chicken were average and a bit spicy, but that is tex mex. The atmosphere is old town Texas and our, resembling Doc Holiday was actually formerly from New Jersey! The walls are covered with wild game and the museum is interesting but pricey to visit. The gift shop is not all old south but young tourist, with things that break. We thought this would be more than it turned out to be and the parking around the place is terrible and expensive. Our highlight was the local TV show being done live from the dance floor.

Great Museum

By conativeGj |

Something for everyone.....lots of Western history. Great display of mounted animals...antlers, antlers, and more antlers. Provided a break from all the people along the Riverwalk. I really enjoyed this stop and learned a lot.

This is average quickly prepared fare but quickly delivered. No frills.

By Dan H |

We ate at the Buckhorn Cafe before going to the Texas Ranger Museum. You order and pay at one location, take a number, and the food is brought to you. It arrived quickly and was prepared well - but is just average fare and not gourmet by any means. It would be good for families or if you want a burger and beer at the bar. The setting is worth going for!

Interesting, good spot for a drink and hunter envy

By charcoll99 |

Amazing display of pretty much every animal on the planet that sports horns, antlers, tusks, etc. This is not the spot for folks who don't enjoy hunting or appreciate taxidermy.

One of those bizarre tourist attractions....

By 8585rachel |

We did not eat in the cafe, but we did visit the museum that the cafe is located in. It is largely a huge taxidermy collection - not something I'd expect to visit in my lifetime. However, it also advertises as a Texas Ranger Museum. There was a small, but interesting collection of Ranger artifacts and some informative displays. That part I really liked, and there was enough to make the visit feel worthwhile, when you factor in the free draft beer that comes with every adult (21+) admission.

Great Venue for Events

By JEShanks61 |

Went here for a evening reception, dinner and auction while at a conference in San Antonio. The Museum was a lot of fun and the food was terrific. If you get a chance to stop in while visiting SA be sure you do, you will have a good time.

Good Value

By SkykomishBob |

They were doing a BBQ brisket sandwich w/ fries special for $8.99 so we didn't look further. Order at the counter, and they bring it to the number they put on your table. As one would expect for a special it came quickly. I'm not a huge fan of the crinkly fries that have been pressed from mashed potatoes, but these were done about as well as they ever are, and the sandwich was very tasty. The room itself has probably 150 animal heads with horns, plus a few other critters all around the walls above. Having spent a modest portion of my life in E. Africa it was fun to see impalas, kongonis, etc. They even had a handsome sable antelope on the wall, a trophy I've never see live, but I've just read have a stable population. I've never approved of trophy hunting, but at least these ones are seen and appreciated.

Cowboy Time

By Henry D |

It is very weird, could be Austin! We thought it would be interesting and were not disappointed. You order at the bar or a counter, have a seat at a table and wait for your food to be delivered to the table. We ordered as soon as we got to the counter and grabbed a table. There were not that many tables ahead of us, but our food took over a half hour to come out. It did arrive very hot and very tasty. There is no wait staff per se, just table runners. The food was excellent. The decor is hundreds of mounted animals on the walls. There is almost no room left on the walls for more.

Interesting Place

By PeachfromGA |

The Buckhorn was mentioned by both the city bus drivers and thour operators. As it was only a block from my hotel I decided to give it a try. Only open for lunch. The food was basic but very good, and plentiful. I decided to go through the museums. The Texas Ranger museum was interesting and I learned a lot about the Rangers. The Buckhorn museum was not my cup of tea. It's filled with taxidermied amimals standing around and hung on the walls. To me it was creepy. I'll admit I'm not pro hunting which probably why I felt that was. Also lots of guns on display; they don't interest me. For something different, give it a try. There are discount coupons for it all over the place.

It's definitely worth going to see

By Anna B |

Suggestive location, in a large saloon, with a series of stuffed animal trophies hanging on the walls. Fast food type service, where you order food at the counter and then look for a seat and wait for them to call you. Drinks are ordered separately at the bar counter. The chili is excellent and the cheeseburger is good. It's definitely worth stopping by just to see the saloon.

Dead animals and corny exhibits

By Jakrusty |

Don't waste your money going to the "museum" of dead animals. You can see lots of them in the main saloon area for free. The rest of the so-called museum is more dead animals, corny side-show exhibits, and furniture made of horns. The Texas ranger exhibit is notable for its lack of dead animals and interesting facts and photos about rangers. At $18.95 a head, I wish I had skipped it.

The Museum is Great! The food is average at best.

By Sandy S |

Because of the historical value of the Buckhorn we stopped in for lunch and a visit to the museum. I wish we'd just had a drink at the awesome bar and skipped lunch. It was not much better than any food you get at a fair: basic burger and frozen fries. You order at a counter and they bring to the table. The people were really nice but I'd skip the food next time. The museum was terrific....lots of Texas Ranger history. Beware: there are dozens of animal mounts, all different species and poses, etc. I was a little unnerved by the African mounts.....a giraffe, gorillas, etc. But my hunter husband was very impressed.

One word... WOW!

By Sandra R |

This place was amazing... just be sure and get there before 3 if you want to eat, the burgers are sooo good. Then there is the museum... so cool, so much to see, you could spend all day there and probably still not fully see all the displays they have.

Food is not good

By Judyroo61 |

overpriced burgers and claims the best. The salad was pitiful for the pricee. Very disappointed and would not recommend.

Fabulous

By kim c |

Stopped in for appetizers and met the best waiter/ bartender. Justin was full of so much information. He was great. We learned more from him while eating our sliders than any tour guide. He suggested to buy a day pass for the trolley and skip the tour buses. We did this all day and it only costs us 4.00. Thank you Justin.

Original saloon!

By Michel d D |

Nice saloon, serving big beer! If you do not appreciate stuffed animals, you should avoid. They have animals from all over the world. Also, an interesting cowboy greats u at the door. An interesting experience
