Excellent dinner. We took the dish of the day, beer-battered cod and salmon with rice and vegetables. Both dishes very tasty. Excellent and quick service. Reasonable prices.

We had brunch and the food was fair. Nothing over the top, however I would suggest getting the Cinnamon Roll for starters. AMAZING. Overall good spot to try, if you are visiting from out of town.

We came and had dinner last night and the service was great and the food was good. Our table was beside the bar and I think I would prefer to be in the main seating area rather than along the loud and busy bar. Kinda of felt like you are on a busy highway. We had the fried cheese curds and the fried chicken hot buns both were good and tasty. For mains we had the Skirt Steak and the Beef Stroganoff. The skirt steak was cooked exactly as ordered, but the Mashed potatoes were a bit watery but still tasty. I am a big fan of beef stroganoff and sadly this dish was too deconstructed. It has some semblance of the the original but some times it is hard to recreate a classic and here it just did not do it. The cocktails were good and overall we had an enjoyable time but overall it was an average experience.

This is my second time here I like the variety on the Brunch menu but execution was a bit off. They were packed on this Sunday as home Eagles game and numerous shows in Philly had them packed. My wife and I shared the fresh baked walnut and raisin sticky bun. This was excellent though we did wait for some time for it to arrive. Next was the smoked beat Rueben and Shrimp Po Boy Benedict. Both were good but nothing was hot, everything was luke warm. The Benedict was a bit odd as the shrimp were served to the side. My potatoes were warm at best, my wife's French fires were cold but the sandwich very good. To mixed reviews here.

We didn’t have a reservation (so I would recommend a reservation for a Saturday morning), but they did seat us quickly at the cooks’ counter. We weren’t sure about sitting at the counter, but so happy we took them up on the offer. I have a new respect for cooks. These guys never stopped. And they kept an incredible pace and high standards. We had the French toast, pork carnitas and biscuits with gravy. One was better than the other.

The atmosphere is fun , like sitting in your parents basement from the 1960`s. The food is quite good . The noise level is abit too much when busy so it is hard to carry on a conversation. Sometimes it does get a bit smoky,I think they need better exhaust fans in the kitchen so it does not come into the dining area.Highly recommend reservatiions otherwise the wait is way too long for the busy times.. OpenTable is a good way to get in quicker. I highly recommend sitting in the back near the kitchen ( when not smoky), the noise level is much better and easier to get a seat if only one or two of you sitting on stools. Usually no wait time . Been here quite alot.

2 words - CHEESE CURDS. Omg the lightest fluffiest gooey cheese curds. We almost asked for a second order they were so good but we had so much food we weren't able to handle it. The dipping sauces are both really good - garlicky ranch and sort of a smoky chipotle. We also got the cinnamon bun - loads of sticky sauce on the bottom and perfect amount of frosting. The sesame gochujang bacon was pretty good too. The drinks were tasty - I was happy to find a grapefruit mimosa which quickly went to my head (in a good way). My husbands pink lemonade was refreshing. For mains we got the shrimp poboy Benedict and spicy chicken biscuit sandwich with bacon. The Benedict was an interesting take - pretty sure the base was a Martin's potato roll. The shrimp had a char grilled flavor but they had tails on so it was a little hard to eat with the rest of it. Ended up eating the shrimp mostly on their own. I liked the pickled slaw on top for a bit of acid. The chicken biscuit was huge and decadent. Came with fries. I tasted a friend's lemon ricotta pancake - that whipped ricotta on top is a game changer! Service was great and food came out fast! We had made reservations for 10am on Saturday (that's when it opens). People were already hovering outside before the doors opened.

My wife and I recently joined another couple for dinner out in downtown Philadelphia. They suggested Bud & Marilyn's and by the end of the evening we couldn't thank them enough for that choice. From start to finish every single dish we ordered was outstanding. We started with bratwurst buns, cheese curds, and fried cauliflower appetizers. Each of these small plates were uniquely delicious. I don't know if I could choose one over another as they were all so good. For our entrees we ordered the short rib stroganoff, fried chicken, skirt steak, and the brick chicken. Everyone generously shared a tasted of their dishes and again every bite we put into our mouths brought sighs of delight. My dish was the short rib stroganoff and I know that I'll be ordering that again on our next visit. Philadelphia is a wonderful food town, but you cannot go wrong at Bud & Marilyn's. You can thank me later.

Bud and Marilyn's is a replica of a Wisconsin "supper club" from the 1950s....except the food is better. The menu is up to date and the execution and service is very good. We went for lunch. It was lively and busy inside without feeling overly noisy or crowded. I had a Cobb salad and cheesy biscuits--both very good. Portion size was good and our server was a delight.

We’ve eaten here many times over last 4 years and their food never fails impress. We like to start with fried cheese curds and pretzel rolls. For entree we love the fried chicken and bone-in pork chop. Last night I tried their beet and carrot salad which was unusual and fabulous.

So many surprises for our party of 4 picky foodies. Peak time Friday night - no reservation - signed in, seated in half the estimated wait. Non bottled water was perfect- food came ahead of expectation. Wait staff - real people not over the top phony BS’ers. Food uniquely delectable and no heartburn nor aftertaste. Only one focus opted for dessert but 4 forked in and we took the rest home. A reason to come back to Philly sooner Larry from DC

I really wanted to like this place after hearing so many good things. Came on a Saturday for brunch. Was not too busy. The inside is quite nice. Service was very good and so were our appetizers, crispy cheese curds and the most delicious cinnamon roll. Off to a good start. Then our meals came. My wife had the chicken and waffles. Very plain and bland. The fried chicken had no flavor and the dish was pretty basic with just maple syrup. My braised short rib was pretty good, until you got down a layer. The black beans were a tad salty and just a bit too much in quantity. They made the tortilla's soft and mushy. Not overly impressive. It's possible we ordered the wrong things, so may be worth a do-over at some point in the future. But this visit was just average.

Was in town with my niece and this place was recommended by a local. As soon as my niece saw fried chicken on the menu our meal was decided! It was divine. Perfectly fried and seasoned. The homemade hot sauce was delicious - tasty heat without being overpowering. And the side of slaw was the perfect tangy crispy accompaniment. Highly recommend!

Great venue with excellent service. Food was very good and very retro American. Good draft beer too. Waitress split bill easily between party of 7

Walked to Bud & Marilyn’s for lunch, corner of Locust & 13th. Either indoor or outdoor seating available. We chose outdoors where they had a string of dining rooms set up on the street, each with seating for four persons. I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with a Cole Slaw and pickle dressing, served with French fries. My spouse had Bud’s Double Patty Burger also served with fries. Our grandson had a Cobb Salad with Ham. Unusual presentation, unlike any Cobb Salad I had ever seen before. His fiancé had Veggie Tofu Hash. Everyone enjoyed their selection and the service was very good.

I was here on my birthday. We ordered many dishes but my favorite was Egg Benedict. French toast was also nice. Cocktails were good. Don;t visit this place w/o advance booking and be there on time as they have long waitlist

During a November business trip to the city, a few colleagues and I ate at Bud and Marilyn's. The atmosphere is quaint, reminiscent of a speakeasy from the 20s, as imagine from books and old pics. For the table we shared the warm buttery pretzels and cheese curds. The curds were awesome, the pretzels were undercooked. I ordered a Moscow Mule and it was served in a ribbed high ball glass, not a vessel even vaguely resembling copper. It was also white liquid and served with a lemon...not the traditional Mule I know and love. I ordered the skirt steak for my meal. The cut of meat was good and the portion fair. The potato was amazing. For dessert we shared banana creme pie which was phenomenal. I don't even like bananas and I really loved this. We also had the peanut butter malt ball cake. It was just OK. The service was fine, nothing spectacular. All in all, I may go back but it would not be my first choice.

My daughter booked an early dinner at Bud & Marilyn's for a 60th birthday dinner for my husband. We had a mixed group of meat eaters, vegans, and vegetarians. We paid ahead so there would be no issues with others trying to pay and Chris checked in with us during the meal to make sure everything was to our liking. They made the process so easy. The food! Every bite was delicious down the table. The vegan had enough to choose from and the server was accommodating in both letting us know what would work and what to watch out for. We started off with excellent drinks and then the cheese curds and fig and ricotta appetizers. I think several folks wanted to lick the bowl that the ricotta was in! Everyone enjoyed their dinners and most importantly, the birthday guy (who is hard of hearing by the way) said that he was glad he sat in the middle because he had no trouble engaging in conversations with everyone around him. The meal and time with friends was a highlight of the day for him. Thank you for making our visit so effortless and wonderful.

What a nice restaurant to visit in Philly. The food was excellent. The fried chicken is HUGE. It is equivalent to a 1/2 chicken. The taste was outstanding. I even tried dessert of the sorbet. Everyone at the table was stuffed from what they ordered. On my!! You gotta try the chicken. Southern style at it’s best.

We had brunch on a Saturday morning -- we both had the french toast with almonds and lots of other stuff and it was outstanding! We each had a different order of artisanal bacon and they were both unusual and good. The atmosphere is 1950s-1960s throwback decor (but nicely done not too cheesy) and the wait staff is all urban hipsters (they are non-conformist but they all look alike somehow even down to the ink) but they are very friendly and professional. Reasonably priced as well.

We have been here several times and just love it. The food is really good- modern take on the foods you grew up on in the 60s/70s. Service is attentive without being pushy and the decor is very retro. It’s a gem. Would highly recommend.

One and done. Very casual eatery. Was at least hoping for good food and good drinks. Neither panned out. The biggest disappointment was the incredibly dry and shockingly bland fried chicken. Not sure how you can make fried chicken tasteless but they figured it out. Plus the bone dry consistency of the white meat portions made it inedible. Martini was a bit watered down. And the server was nowhere to be found. First and last time here. Only reasons for two stars and not one was the Wedge salad. Was inventive and tasty. Should have just stopped there.

Interesting menu. Went twice during ordered the burger. Huge, and delicious. We went in a Thursday night and the place was very crowded. We had made reservations and we were seated promptly. Our waitress came over promptly but we needed a bit more time and then had to wait a while before she had a chance to come back, it was really hard to hear in the restaurant as the noise level was very high between the music and the amount of people. If you are looking for a quiet night out, this is not it but we loved what we had and the food around us looked very good.

Cousin who lives in Philly suggested this place as she's never been and neither have we so we tried it out. The interior is so fancy and nice! I took some matches and a business card for souvenirs because it was really nice packaging LOL. For a non-alcoholic drink, I got wile e coyote. It was delicious and looked pretty! We ordered a cinnamon roll to share between 3 of us. Perfect to go with our meals as a starter and as a dessert. I loved the grilled shrimp benedict! The shrimp had a bit of a kick which I appreciated it. Don't usually see shrimp benedict on menu so I'm happy I ordered this. Sis liked her shashuka and my cousin also enjoyed her burger but she took home half of it because it was massive. Would recommend this place for brunch as there was no line or wait. Food/service was great too.

The atmosphere here is awesome. Very retro. The drinks and the food are really interesting and very good. The tofu buns were excellent and I love the cheese curds. The vegetarian reuben is one of my favorites, however, only on the lunch menu.

Our family of 5 adults traveled into Philly looking for a new place to celebrate a couple of birthdays. B & M did not disappoint, we had the Cauliflower & Pretzel Apps, very tasty. We all ordered a different entree all delicious (Meatloaf, Crispy Chicken, Grilled Chicken, Salads) We shared 1 Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake that was so huge we could not finish it. Our family said to us “This is a place we must keep on our Go Back Too List”. We were fortunate to have a table towards the front of the restaurant so the noise level was not as loud as the center would have been for us, but I could see that being an issue.

Had to wait for reservation, so we did happy hour at the bar--reasonable prices. Shown to nice table--very good meal with great service. Very loud tho

We took pot luck with this restaurant as it was close to where we found ourselves in the early evening. From the outside it doesn’t look much however it is smart and modern on the inside. The staff were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived and were seated without a reservation. We arrived as the restaurant was opening for the evening and it was soon full with what looked like a lot of locals which gave a good indication of what to expect. The menu isn’t large but it is varied with a good choice of dishes to select from. Our food was delivered to the table quickly and was all very tasty. This was an inexpensive meal and I would certainly consider returning in the future.

My sister chose this place and said it had a “hipster vibe”. The ambiance was light and fun, colorful and overall pretty nice. The food average, nothing that was a big standout. Not a bad place to end up if you’re in this area.

Bud & Marilyn’s is a cool spot with excellent food and cocktails. The ambiance is meant to have a 70’s vibe. Try the brick chicken and the wedge salad (with onion rings). So good!

Once seated I took the time to look over the impressive menu of blended foods. I was so torn, however Sarah F. made excellent recommendations based on a few things I told her I like. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and patient as I made my final selection. My main entree Marilyn's Fried Chicken was so delicious. The portion size was perfect. I even had enough to take home to savor later. I was extra happy when Sarah told me they carried Ginger Beer, yummy.

On the way home from a week in Seattle, we were hungry after a long flight and found this place ~ welcoming, convenient, great food and, BONUS, reasonably priced draft beer!

Bud & Marilyn’s- Philadelphia,Gayborhood- 5-Stars. Rain is a good thing. Rain in Philly around Christmas time is a mixed bag. On the one hand, you're not frozen to the core while trudging to and fro through mounds of snow, on the other, there is something special about having a White Christmas. Hopefully, this rain I am stuck in turns to snow before that day arrives. In the meantime, I am standing in the pouring rain outside of a locked Bud & Marilyn's. Checking my watch, I noticed we were still a few minutes early and it was at this point that I cursed the architect for not including an overhang above the door. Pssst...awnings are cheap and practical! Not being a local, I was pleasantly surprised to see this area of Philly, officially called "Gayborhood" in the obvious midst of a vibrant revitalization. At the forefront of this renaissance is the entrepreneurial team of Chef Marcie Turney and her business partner of the past 17 years or so, Ms. Valerie Safran. With five restaurants and three boutiques in the area, it is safe to say they are not only hands-on in their business approach, but also care a great deal for the neighborhood. Chef Turney grew up in the family restaurant in the upper Midwest, she opened Bud & Marilyn's (named after her restaurant-owning grandparents) with the idea of reaching back to the simple focus of her childhood home away from home. Ms. Safran, also having come from the Midwest jumped on the idea of presenting great food and drink with the hospitality that made the Midwest famous (most everyone there is exceedingly polite, blame the proximity on our neighbors to the North). And so here we are and here I am drenched to the bone as the clock finally ticks opening time and the doors are unlocked. Entering Bud & Marilyn's is almost like stepping back to a simpler time. The decor is an eclectic one giving a mellow, easy 60s vibe. The windows are complete with faux jalousie, further suggesting places of yesteryear. It wasn't before too long, especially given the fact that they had just opened, when our server, Len, approached our table. Len certainly knew the menu inside and out; however, I found him to be a tad on the sluggish side. I chalked this up to the fact they just opened and Len might still need to warm up before being game ready. Be that as it may, I did go with a few of Len's suggestions and as such, put in an order for a Winter Sour Craft Cocktail and what has been voted the best Bloody Mary in Philly, followed by an order of one of the day's specials, plated Liver and Onions, a bowl of Matzo Ball Soup and one order of Fried Chicken (a must in a down-home, simple food place). Len soon returned from the well-stocked libation station with cocktails in hand. The Winter Sour Craft came in what I would call a margarita glass, looked like a Sidecar and tasted like a blend of the aforementioned sidecar and a lemon drop. Very tasty! Now it was on to the award-winning, voted best by patrons in the greater Philly metro area, vaunted Bud & Marilyn's Bloody Mary. When I was younger a Bloody Mary consisted of Vodka, Bloody Mary mix, a dash of Tabasco sauce and a fresh celery stalk if it was a "fancy" one, the rim of the glass would be coated in celery salt, ala the margarita. My, how things have changed. Most Bloody Mary's these days are stuffed with everything but the proverbial kitchen sink. While I found this one to be slightly busy for my tastes as well (I did love the mini chili peppers), it didn't have hard boiled eggs, a chicken leg or a steak stuck on a skewer crammed into the glass, so I was good. With one taste I knew it was a very, very good Bloody Mary and it very well might be the best in the city of Brotherly Love, but it was not the best one I've had. Don't take that the wrong way. It was full of flavor and had a nice pepper finish which, along with those scrumptious mini chili peppers places it firmly in my top 10. With the potent potables out of the way all we could do was wait on Len to bring us the grub. Placing the orders in front of us, Len asked if there was anything else we needed and left us to enjoy our meal. I thanked Len for that as my nose was telling my palate it was in for a treat today. Beginning with the special of the day, the plated liver and onions. I began my culinary treck through Chef Turney's creations. I know what the menu said. I know what Len said. However, this is not the liver and onions I had growing up nor one I have dined on before. This was deconstructed fresh chicken liver with the freshest bread I have yet had. Accompanied by marinated pearl onion slices and onion crisps this was truly a "tricked out" version of the Midwest dinner staple. Grabbing my spoon and turning my attention to the bowl of Matzo Ball soup I eagerly sloshed a spoonful into my mouth. I question whether this really is Matzo Ball Soup as it certainly ain't your grandmother's, nor the little old ladies down the street for that matter. No, no, no loyal Biggie, this one was bursting with flavors and was certainly not cooked in the traditional Jewish manner. The broth was superbly crafted with a complexity of flavors heretofore unfounded in my experience. The Matzo Ball was a sight to behold as it dominated the Bowl and packed a punch of flavor all by itself. There are not many meals I would consider better representative of simple, tasty American fare than Bud & Marilyn's fried chicken. Presented along like everything else on the table with dramatic flair it was reason enough to stop in. While I found the dredge to be simply flour with no spices, it was not lacking in taste as it came with the most delicious homemade buttermilk dipping sauce to yet pass my lips. The chicken was fried to a succulent golden brown and did I mention the freakin' dipping sauce?? Such flavor in a simple sauce, it added a delightful pop to each bit of nummy fried chicken. Every meal of fried chicken should come with coleslaw, it's like an unwritten rule. No, strike that. From now on every meal of fried chicken should be sided up with the coleslaw from Bud & Marilyn's. This is a slaw like no other found in human history. It is flavored with fresh mango, spices and cabbage sans any hint of mayonnaise. The lack of mayonnaise may leave the debate open as to whether or not this is technically a version of "coleslaw," but regardless the lack of this slaw staple made it very, very acidic (which is a good thing). Needless to say, Bud & Marilyn's quickly ascended the ladder of the BBDO restaurant list and is firmly seated in the number two spot as my second favorite restaurant in the whole of the U.S.A. Yes, you read that correctly. Yes, this place is that damn good. The Big Boy says, "If you are anywhere east of the Mississippi and haven't eaten here yet, you should be ashamed of yourself and rectify that as soon as possible!"

I don’t eat a lot of meat but when I do it has to taste really good. After the last two episodes of Top Chef that had a lot of fried chicken being cooked, I was in the mood. My daughter loves chicken so I wanted to try some top recommended places. Bud and Marilyns were on a top ten list in Philadelphia for their fried chicken. The 1/2 chicken for dinner served with pickles and 2 biscuits was a little pricey at $20 while at lunch would have only cost $16 and included French fries. It was worth the price though. The chicken was delicious. The breading reminded me of KFC which I haven’t eaten in 25 years but loved as a child. The quality at Bud and Marilyn’s is certainly much better than KFC! I really loved the chicken and would go back in the future. We also got a side of mashed potatoes. They had an herb butter mixed in that was also delicious. Some of the other menu items looked good so I am planning on trying the scallops and carrots on my next visit.

Although the creative extensive menu is trendy Philly cuisine at its best, with tables too close to one another, B&Ms, while obviously popular, is terribly noisy, as well as much too dark. If you can't hear what your date is saying & have to shout across a small table to be heard, it's not a whole lot of fun & we couldn't wait to get out to the street to be able to talk to one another again.

Bud & Marilyn's is a great place for brunch but better make reservations. The portions are large, almost too much for one person. First the drinks, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic are terrific. We were a party of 5 and people liked the bloody marys, that came with peppers, the mimosas and the non-alcoholic Wile E. Coyote (raspberry, lemon and ginger ale.) We started off with one serving of cinnamon roll for all five of us and barely finished it. it is enough sugar to give one a high for the entire day. The entrees were all great, Two of us had the hazelnut french toast, huge slabs of thick bread with whiskey flavored syrup, one had chilaquiles, which was eggs, meat, chips and peppers, and cheese, one had a Shrimp Po'Boy and the other a vegetarian platter called Shashuka. The verdict of all was each dish was delicious but almost too much to finish. Service was excellent, a gratuity of 20% was included for parties of 5 or more and was helpfully circled on the bill to make sure we saw the tip was already included. The noise level is pretty high, there are some small table that may be quieter, but we had to be talk loudly to hear each other.

We ordered the fish fry special and then our 10 and 12 year olds shared the pu pu platter for their dinner. A good amount of food and very tasting. Many around us had the fried chicken and plates were cleaned! Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and provided insight to the best options. The chocolate peanut butter malt cake was five layers and delicious!

Went here with some friends. It was ok. I got the beet Reuben which was good. The salad it came with was not. We shared a side of scrapple which was cooked perfectly but the taste was the worse I have ever had. The service was good. N it was not noisy as others had complained. Also the prices for Philadelphia were very reasonable. All in all though it was ok n with so many other options in Philadelphia I wouldn’t go back

Service was great and the menu was very diverse. Great items, the bloody mary, home fries, hash brown, shashuka? and fried chicken bucket. Things not so great Smoked beet reuben, too soggy and didn't taste smoked. Tostados were also soggy. Different place, was loud, with a lot of kids.

This is a smallish, very popular spot in Philadelphia's Gayborhood that caters to anyone who just wants to fill up on good ole heavy comfort food. It has a diner feel to it although it's almost all if not all table seating. The feel is slightly 50s, but not super overdone. There's a lot of fried stuff going on with biscuits worked into a couple of the dishes, not the sort of thing you can eat every day, but really fun for pigging out on. I had biscuits in a bacon-sausage sauce with a couple of fried eggs on top. My son got the fried chicken bucket which comes in a 50s-looking paper bucket with some traditional fries on the bottom. They have cocktails, if you're feeling it. We also got an appetizer of fried cheese curds. Again, not on any dietician's suggested menu, but what the heck, you've gotta' splurge on stuff like this sometimes, right? The staff is friendly and fun. The only thnog is the noise. It's a happening place with lots of gabbing going on!

Wow is this place over-rated! Firstly, the noise level is ridiculous! You can't hear the server or carry on a conversation across the table. My wife was seated on a banquet which had a sizeable rip in the upholstery allowing the padding and spring to cause her discomfort. My wife tried the "Famous stuffed meatloaf", the only thing she found to make it famous was how extremely salty it was. Luckily I tried the Double patty burger and the fries were great but the patties had the life cooked out of them.

Fried Chicken served on wooden platter. Scrumptious. Good wines and attentive service. Great location in Center City. Very popular place. As crowds came for dinner hour, the sound bounced off wood floors and brick walls. Lots of energy, but not the best for close conversations with loved ones.

I went for a solo dinner before a performance at the Kimmel Center. I ate outside in my own "booth." The shortrib stroganoff was very tasty (although somewhat salty) and the fig ricotta toast was wonderful. Both the greeter and the dinner service were courteous and efficient. I plan to go again.

Selected based on proximity to hotel and no wait to be seated. Nice ambiance. At our server’s recommendation tried the crispy cheese curds, yum. Grapefruit Mimosa was a nice twist on typical brunch cocktail. We enjoyed carmalized apple French toast & truck stop special dish.

Great bar and food! We were not planning on this great local place, but when we had 9 and no reservations, they happened to have a table for us at the time we were looking for. So we got there a little early for happy hour drinks. It's not the best list, but if you are a beer or wine drinker, it is good. and we waited for our family and friends. wen they showed up we were taken to our table and we had Kristina our server give us some suggestions. We started with the Kimchi fried rice, spicy but very flavorful. then we all ordered different dishes and basically one of each of the major recommendations from our server Kristina, each was filled with flavor and nice size for the price. I personally went with the Nashville fried chicken with a side of roasted butternut squash. what a plate filled with flavor. It was not too spicy and just the right flavor. It was sitting on potato bread and drizzled with a ranch dressing. We finished off with three of their most popular desserts. The Funfetti cake seems to be their signature dessert. All was great and had a bite of each.

The food was good, wholesome food. I enjoyed my dinner. I had the fried chicken. Tasty and not dry. I would recommend this restaurant for a good meal.

I asked my companion who is a Philadelphia native to take me where "the locals go," and he brought me to Bud & Marilyns. We thought we made a reservation for 4, but only made it for 2 people (our fault entirely) so we didn't get a table, but they did accommodate us quickly at the bar, even thought the restaurant was packed. Our server, Danny C, was excellent. I told him I could only have one beer as I was driving and asked for a suggestion. He suggested an Avery White Rascal which made me regret driving, I should have uberred and had several more! My companion and I shared his Fried Chicken and my Smokey Paprika Hangar Steak. The chicken was crisp on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. The Hangar Steak is quite likely the best I've ever had. I should have ordered another to go! We got a couple of drinks ad appetizers in before the end of Happy Hour and the prices were unbeatable for the quality of what was presented. I'll be honest- I was in the mood for a local, greasy, cheesesteaky dump, and wasn't excited walking in this packed restaurant. But from first sip of the suggested beer and first bite of my food I was hooked. Service, ambiance, food were all spot on. I can't wait to go back!

Surprised this restaurant has so many great reviews. It wasn’t worth mentioning. The vibe and decor is cool. Had reservations and was seating promptly. Food came out very quickly. I had a chicken sandwich and I’ve had better from a drive thru restaurant. My bf had fried chicken dinner. Both of our chicken dishes were bland. Biscuits that came with his meal were the best part of dinner. We had to ask our waitress for another round of drinks. We felt rushed by her.

This restaurant was extremely disappointing. We had a lovely meal, although the restaurant was a little loud. We had two $25 gift certificates for the restaurant that we presented at the end of the meal. The manager told us they were expired, despite the cards being printed ‘no expiration date’, and accused us of altering the cards. After some discussion, we paid the bill in full, and contacted management via email the next day, since we assumed it was all a mistake. They finally responded to our third email. They offered us a partial gift certificate, and again insinuated that we had removed a sticker with an expiration date, despite the card being printed as "no expiration date." Management did not respond after we asked for our $50 to be refunded. All in all, an awful experience.

We had a wonderful experience our first night in Philadelphia! Let me tell you, the short rib beef strogonoff was THE VERY BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!!! It was simply the best! The hubs had the classic cheeseburger and fries! The seasoning on the fries was also delicious! There cocktails were very well made! Overall, it was an fantastic date night out with great food!

There were 3 of us that went here for happy hour. We ordered a couple of fried cheese curds (outstanding), the pimento cheese and 3 sliders. All were very good but the cheese curds really stood out. The prices are fairly reasonable to a bit expensive (fried chicken) for $20 for 1/2 a bird is a bit steep. However, we ended up ordering 2 plates of the fried chicken and an order of perogies. The chicken is really good, but it did need to be crispier, and, at $20 with 2 biscuits (amazing biscuits with honey salted butter), a side of veggies would be great. We will definitely eat here again.

We were going to the Kimmel Center for a concert and www were looking for a new restaurant to try. After looking at Tripadvisor we found Bud and Marilyn's. We arrived a little early for our reservation but it was not an issue for them to seat us. The service overall was excellent. They actually cleaned the table between each course. We tried one of their Buns and they were a nice appetizer. Our dinners were both excellent. My wife really enjoyed her scallops and I enjoyed the meatloaf. We tried one of the desserts and loved the Chocolate cake with peanut butter malt pieces. The room is nice but not overly large. By the time we left it was very crowded.

Solo dining, sat at the bar. Ordered the chicken and biscuits meal. The food was amazing. The chicken was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The biscuits were flaky and soft. The sweet butter was perfect. Had so much to take home, that second dinner was just as awesome.

This place was busy! I’m really glad I made a reservation, because every table was full, and the bar was packed. There are so many good dishes to choose from. My husband had the short ribs stroganoff, which was really tasty. The highlight was the meatloaf, which was the best I’ve ever had. It had so much flavor, and it came with generous portions of potatoes, carrots, and peas. We couldn’t resist ordering cake for dessert. I would definitely return if I came back to visit Philadelphia.

I was torn about the number of stars to give Bud & Marilyn's, but in the end, the outstanding food pushes my other misgivings to the wayside and earns it a full five stars (and that says a lot about the food!). Let's get the not-so-great out of the way first. The ambience, as many others have stated, is noisy and crowded. The tables are really close together. The noise level is very high. I'm guessing, though, that those of us complaining about the noise and the crowds are not the target audience for this establishment, so I'm not optimistic that any changes will be implemented on those fronts. This is an establishment that is very popular with (and geared toward) 20-somethings who like to drink snazzy craft beverages. So, if you visit, just be prepared for a lively, noisy atmosphere. The decor is pretty neat - retro, vintage (in a very classy way). The service was okay. Actually, we interacted with a couple of other servers and the hostess, all of whom were very friendly, but our server was kind of curmudgeonly. We were probably not his favorite customers, since we don't drink, so maybe that impacted his service to us (although it certainly shouldn't!). Maybe he was just having a bad day. Anyway, I can forgive all of the shortcomings, because the food was AMAZING. Truly, it was that good. My husband ordered the Hot Buttered Buns (really) -- the bratwurst variety -- and just raved about them. I ordered the pretzel rolls and was very disappointed to learn that they were out of them. So, instead I ordered the warm buttermilk biscuits. I also ordered the smoked cheddar pierogies. Oh. My. Gosh. The pierogies were the best I'd ever had. You could really taste the smokiness of the cheese. And they came with some kind of mustard sauce on the side that was delicious. It also came with some kind of apple slaw that I wasn't sure I would like, so the waiter had them put that on the side (which was actually super nice of him, and I'll give him extra points for that!). I didn't care for the slaw, but since it was on the side, it didn't mar the experience or taste of the pierogies. And the biscuits were amazing, too! They were HUGE! And really dense and buttery. Perfectly crispy on the outside and moist inside. YUM! We shared the funfetti cake for dessert and loved it! I really didn't think I would, because . . . I mean, how exciting can white cake be? But this was really good!! It was moist, and the frosting was outstanding. The confetti sprinkles made it fun and festive. So, would I go to Bud & Marilyn's again? Absolutely!!! The food is worth putting up with the noise and the crowds. It was delicious!!

First time visiting Philly, Bud and Marilyn's was recommended by locals in a boutique I was shopping in. The butter pretzel buns were delicious as well as the Brick Chicken. The atmosphere has a wonderful "Mad Men" kind of vibe (although beware this place is loud). Don't miss this place.

Food was excellent and the service was great. Wine was very good (but expensive) but on the night we were there the temp was a bit cool for me. Would definitely go again but might need to temper the wine consumption!

we had lunch here this week. easy to male reservation online.nice waiter. limited number of items on lunch menu. my cobb salad had pickled red beet egg instead of “hard boiled egg” which was a big difference to me. too much red cabbage or radiccio for my taste. my husband’s beet reuben was great, a unique and delightful taste. waitress who brought beer poured and spilled so much when she set it down but never wiped it up so it slowly made a river until we borrowed napkin from next empty table. I won’t be back. might recc it for dinner with bigger menu, though

Love this place was close to where we were staying, off quince St. Ate the chicken and biscuits, both delicious and just melted in my mouth. Mussels were Tasty, I’ve had mussels many times but this place Had the best. We came in late 8:00 and seating was limited. They found a couple of spots were they created the appetizers. To close at the beautiful cakes. A must to try, service was excellent.

We recently ate lunch at Bud and Marilyn's and really enjoyed it. The staff was very good but the food was even better.

For my brother's birthday we decided to go for the Bubbles and Fried Chicken menu---which almost every table in the restaurant also ordered. We tried one bottle each of bubbly Chardonnay and a rosé on offer. Both were drinkable though unremarkable. Generous portions of crispy, juicy chicken followed an appetizer of arancini, as well as a refreshingly dressed salad of tomatoes and watermelon under a shower of arugula and fennel. The accompanying biscuits were slightly under-baked but tasty; the mac and cheese spoiled by too much rosemary. However, the coleslaw with shaved broccoli and carrots was lifted out of the ordinary by an addictive, smoky vinaigrette. The house-made hot sauce complemented the fried chicken. Desserts---a chocolate cake and banana cream pie shared by our table were just average and too sweet for my taste. However, our experience was severely marred by the noise level in the room---at full capacity, the noise level was deafening, making conversation nearly impossible. There was a lady with a hearty laugh just behind me and the acoustics made it seem she was laughing right into my ear. It was so uncomfortable I abandoned my coffee just to get out of the restaurant sooner. We won't be back any time soon.

We went here during Restaurant Week. We were not disappointed. The food is well-prepared, and there is a variety of selections. The dining room can be on the noisy side. The service was excellent.

First time, last time. Food is maybe okay but this is essentially mediocre bar food. It looks tempting at the Philadelphia International airport but once is enough. There are better choices. I couldn’t believe they charged $2 for blue cheese dressing for my Wedge salad. There were blue cheese crumbles on the salad but they served Ranch dressing. Hate Ranch! I asked if I could get blue cheese. Waiter said “sure.” What he didn’t say was that it would cost $2! But this is even worse. All they did was take Ranch and add blue cheese crumbles! And that’s what they served me at additional expense. The waiter confirmed it was Ranch dressing with crumbles. Unbelievable. Dishonest. On principle alone I would not eat there again. Even if the food was good!

My friends love this place. I am underwhelmed. Too loud, food nothing special & ergo overpriced. Cake was good as was service. Just sayin

We went there for brunch on Saturday (2:30). I love the extended brunch hours. Our table was ready. Service was just right - no long waits, no hovering waiters. Tasty and varied food. Nice 'take' on cocktails. A bit loud until it emptied out a little. Then it was great! Not particularly geared to family vibe, but friendly to all. Great value. I will definitely revisit!

Fun place for dinner with friends before a show. The food is all top notch and reasonably priced. One dessert, the banana cream pie, was too salty, but otherwise all was stellar. Would definitely return!

Gave this place a try during restaurant week and soo glad I did! The hosts and hostesses were very friendly and seated us promptly when we arrived at reservation time. For starters we got Nashville hot buns and the shaved brussel sprouts and apple salad - the Nashville hot buns were delicious! They're a little spicy but that's no problem for me. The salad was salad (LOL). For the main course meatloaf stuffed with fontina cheese and swiss chard, paired with garlic mashed potatoes, peas and carrots. I didn't have high expectations for the meatloaf because it's just meatloaf right...well I have to admit I was caught completely off guard because this was the best meatloaf I've EVER had! It was seasoned well throughout, moist and the fontina and swiss chard stuffed inside was perfect! The garlic mashed potatoes were a tad salty but still very good. The peas and carrots were seasoned very well too. Also tried miso glazed salmon - it was cooked perfectly and tasted divine! For dessert it was bread pudding and blood orange sorbet. All sooooo good! I will definitely come back to Bud and Marilyn's for some of the best comfort food I've had in a long time. The space is quaint and warm, dimly lit for nice ambiance. Although I went for restaurant week so there was a set price for three courses, I looked at the prices for the standard menu and everything is reasonable. Go give this place a try!

First let me say that our server was one of the best I have ever had. Our water glasses were never empty. He was very attentive and made great recommendations. This is a small place and it is "community style tables" so prepare to be close to other diners. But that gives you a chance to see what other people are eating. The food was all delicious and came out very promptly. We did not have any cake but the people beside us did. The slice was HUGE and looked delicious. Our server said the cakes are made there daily. If I ever go back, I plan to skip right to cake! They have an unique drink menu. We both had something different and they were both delicious. I would highly recommend this place and would most definitely go back when I am in Philly.

Bud and Marilyn's is a very enjoyable restaurant with a very lively atmosphere. I managed to get in on a Friday night and took a seat at the kitchen counter. Service was excellent as was the food. I totally recommend the fried chicken.

Absolutely YUMMMMMMM!!!!! Saturday morning brunch after a week of Thanksgiving celebration….. NO problem! Enter the restaurant…Reservations suggested. Personal and eclectic design details with enthusiastic staff create a FUN vibe. Cannot decide what to order??? Whet your appetite with a starter large enough to share four ways…gooey cinnamon bun served warm in a small pan. Creative menu of yummy possibilities awaits your selection. The food is beyond tasty. Presentation grabs the diner before even taking the first bite. Textures, colors, flavors… Everything made in the kitchen. Try their hot sauce. Come in hungry…leave satisfied with a huge smile! Cannot wait to return!

So, poor planning for a Saturday night and we randomly ended up at Bud and Marilyn’s. Landed a seat at the Chef’s Table overseeing appetizer and dessert prep. As with bar-type seating, a close spacing but the stools weren’t super tall for us shorties. The menu is “southern inspired comfort food”, so not an extensive menu. We decided to sample and order falafel crusted cauliflower, Nashville hot buns (2 sliders with fried chicken and spicy coleslaw),and calms and chorizo. Since I’m intolerant of dairy selections were limited, especially true for dessert HOWEVER the blood orange Thai basil sorbet made a nice finishing touch. Everything was DELICIOUS! Unexpected combinations that were fresh and robust. Service was outstanding. Not a Philly native, but next time in town I’ll come back and try an entry -their famous fried chicken perhaps.

Recently dined at Bud & Marilyn's. My brother and I walked in for dinne. We were able to get a seat and try some mid-century inspired recipes. The staff was great, and our server provided useful recommendations and attentive service. We had fried cheese curds to start. Served with two dips, one like a BBQ sauce, the other a creamy dressing. Delicious cheese curds went quickly. Next, I had meatloaf with mashed potatoes and grilled carrots. A real throwback, I enjoyed it from the first bite until the last. My brother had the fried chicken. Crispy delicious breading fried to perfection and the chicken was as juicy as I've ever had. The homemade biscuits and butter infused with honey were a treat, though filling. We skipped dessert but enjoyed our meal. The overall experience was enjoyable. This was my second visit and I will return. In summary, good people providing thoughtful service serving delicious food not to be had just anywhere.

Great fried chicken and smashing biscuits. Nice drink selection. Great service. They did not bat an eye when we just stayed and chatted for several hours. 8" high cake is to die for!

3 of us ate here while in Philly for a conference at Doubletree. We got Salmon....Beef stroganoff....and meatloaf. All were amazing.... Highly recommend this place

Came here for lunch and was satisfied and then some. The service is top notch (I mean it's a Starr establishment so I wouldn't expect anything less) and the food makes you drool. My fried chicken sliders were a nice amuse bouche...well the most over the top amuse bouche but you get my drift. And then the rainbow trout with greens was a thing of beauty. I literally could have slurped up the sauce and pretty much every morsel on the plate. So glad I stopped in for lunch and hope to return soon!

The dinner menu is on the small side but is a pretty interesting mix. Everything we ordered was great: pasta, kale salad, pot roast, biscuits. Service was quick. It was fairly crowded and a bit noisy as a result.

Interesting menus but most importantly food was terrific. Very busy place so a bit noisy but went twice and would go again

This is a great restaurant to enjoy good food and socialize. It's very lively and has a bar vibe, yet feels like a fine dining establishment. Delicious appetizers, good drinks and a good tasty steak - the meat wasn't as tender as I'd usually like, but it was still very good.

Let's just start with "The FOOD was AMAZING"!!! If it only would have gotten there at a somewhat reasonable time. And it was french toast!! Not the most time consuming entree to prepare. We had several meals while visiting Philadelphia recently and had what we would consider very poor service. So IS it a Philly thing??? Fortunately Bud & Marilyn's food is worth the wait IF you have the time. We actually got a $36.00 parking ticket because the TWO hours that we had allotted on the meter for brunch had expired. So that will give you some idea. If you can WALK there or have LOTS of time I highly recommend the food and hope you get better/quicker service.

Interesting menu and efficient service. Nice cocktail menu. Only issue I had is that it was dark and it was hard to see my food but everything was very tasty. Popular spot so make reservations.

Was very happy that I had no trouble getting a table on a mid-week night. Jack was my server, and he was awesome; his menu recommendations were excellent. Everyone was friendly and I didn't feel at all awkward as a solo diner. I have had the amazing fried chicken here before, but was looking for something a little lighter. Jack recommended the crusted cod on a bed of farro, fava beans, and mushrooms. When it arrived, my first thought was "that's not a very big dinner," but the delightful layering of flavors, especially the bright citrus undertones from the carrot ginger puree that everything sat on, made this simple-looking dish expand with complexity. Really so delicious! The cod was perfectly cooked too. I completely cleaned my plate! All this left room - yay! - for dessert. I indulged in the best banana cream pie of my life. Not just a simple slice, but an adorable individual mini-pie! Crunchy buttery brown sugar and oatmeal crust was a sweet base on which a custardy-fluffy-creamy filling intensely flavored by fresh bananas sat. Honestly, I'm not a "dessert person" and I'd have this again at anytime of day in a heartbeat. Bud & Marilyn's is a regular on my restaurant list when visiting Philly. Don't miss it.

Highly recommend. Me and my family were visiting from out of town and staying at the Doubletree downtown. The restaurant is only a few blocks away and ordered a few meals to go. Everything was fantastic. Fried chicken was juicy and crispy skin. It was the highlight. Bolognese was very good! Biscuits and salad was excellent as well!

We got in late to the Independent Hotel (restaurant in the same building) and popped downstairs to this very popular restaurant. Great food with some creative vegetarian items. Not cheap but worth it. Try the crispy cheese curds (way better than they sound).

It's been a while since my last review and I have to say Bud and Marilyn's would be my top pick for those looking for a moderately priced meal of great comfort food. Think wedge salads. fried chicken and biscuits and a host of vegetable dishes. Portions are fairly large, so be careful not to over-order. You'll want to leave room for dessert. Loved the warm brown butter apple slab pie and the banana cream. This would be a perfect spot for those with vegetarians, picky or non adventurous eaters in the group. Would recommend for dates, dinner with friends and family get-togethers. Probably too loud for a business meeting. The mood is casual and convivial. Our server was great. As a matter of fact, I have to say the front of the house did a really good job of keeping things moving and welcoming all at the same time. With light alcohol consumption, for a full meal I'd be estimating $50-65 per person with tax and tip.

We walked in without reservations about 6 pm on a Monday night and were lucky to be seated. Noisy place—I could hardly talk to my husband across the table. Very efficient staff: one takes the order, one brings the drinks and one brings the entrees and sometimes just anyone pitches in to pour water or clear plates. I had a salmon which was one of the best preparations I’ve ever had: served on winter berries and baby zucchini with thin slices of English cuke, radishes and onions on top. Loved the broiled half lemon on the plate. My husband had the skirt steak and was happy with his choice. We ordered warm buttermilk biscuits which I thought were too salty on the top. Again, the noise level in this place is too high! That’s something management can do something about.

We went to Bud and Marilyn's before a show at the Academy of Music. It's only a few blocks from the Academy and there are a couple of parking lots very close by. It's a comfort food place, with a small but good menu. We had the meatloaf (good), the fried chicken (good) and a pasta dish with short ribs (very good). We also had the cheese curds which are a step above fried mozzarella.

Had a wonderful first time visit to this restaurant. My wife and I were very pleased with the service and the quality of the food. The menu was not extreme in choices but sufficient to appeal to everyone's taste. Their fried chicken is amazing. Crisp on the outside and tender and juicy inside. Perfect! My wife had the scallops. They were large, cooked perfectly and well presented. Service was great! A good place to eat before going to the Kimmel center or any theater on Broad street.

It was a really hot night and we walked in and ordered a Frose Slush and it hit the spot! It was perfect not to slushy or too sweet. The bar is small so we sat at a table next to the bar and ordered happy hour snacks. The food was good and interesting. The waiter was excellent. We will definitely go back.

Excellent food. You have to have the fried chicken as that is one of their house specialties. It was great and filling as they serve biscuits with it. Service was very good. Definitely a place to go back to.

After an Academy of Music show, we strolled down a block to the restaurant. Even without reservations, we were promptly seated. We opted to share the pupu platter and a shaved asparagus salad. There were grilled peppers, shrimp toast, skirt steaks, tempura pork, grilled shrimp, and meatballs. That was plenty of food for us. The diners around us had ordered the cheese curds and the fried chicken. The room seemed to be divided with the older crowd sitting at the tables and the younger crowd at the bar. Be warned, the taller persons in your group should sit on the cushy benches. I was a full six inches shorter when I sank into the seat and had to look up at my daughter. Normally we are the same height.

Excellent restaurant with a great menu, staff, and food. Plenty of terrific choices. Does get a bit loud during lunchtime, but the food makes it all worth it. This really is a comfort food place with great craft beers, breakfast foods, and plenty of lunch items that you would expect. Really suggest you make reservations, especially on the weekends....quite popular and an easy location to find. Servings are quite ample so be a bit careful and maybe share on a few of the items. Also, if you want a place in their restaurant that is quieter to talk and listen, you might want to let them know ahead of time. You won't regret this one.....give it a try, you'll be hooked.

Food was very good at the airport location. The service was excellent as well. I had the hot bird chicken sandwich. Definitely worth a visit.

Saturday night dinner. We ordered the fried cheese curd (delicious), fried chicken (delicious), lamb steak (steak part was great but i did not like the side salad & dressing), confetti cake (huge portion tasted okay) and banana pie (great). Our server was awesome. Excellent drinks choices. Definitely recommend. Great place to chill before you go to the local clubs in Philadelphia.

Some of the very best comfort food around. Sure, I’ve seen the poor reviews upthread. Bring an open mind and warm heart you’ll be fine here. I can understand how the snooty at heart would not be overjoyed here. Come relaxed and you’ll leave relaxed.

I came with my family (two children ages 13 and 10) and the service was great! To make the experience even greater the food was delicious!

My friend, who always orders red meat, loved it here. It was dark and cozy and atmospheric. The crowd was chic. I found the food heavy and oily, even the veggie stuff. Large plates.

Good food, good service in a fun somewhat subdued environment. I had the fried chicken. It was tasty, crisp and not greasy. It was served with the briskets that were light and flaky. The homemade chili sauce provided the perfect amount of heat that reminded me with Tennessee hot chicken.

Really good, would go even if id wasn't at the airport. Service this morning was excellent. Ordered the "benni". Really fun and well prepared twist on eggs.ben3dict with biscuit instead of English muffin. We shall return!

Everything we had was delicious! From the holiday drinks to the meals - waffles & chicken, French toast, chicken sandwich and the best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had!

I come to Bud and Marilyn’s every time I am in Philadelphia and I always get the meatloaf. It is the best I have ever tasted. Stuffed with fontina cheese and kale. So delicious! I am usually there on business and dining alone. They have counter seating if you like which makes dining alone fun because everyone is very friendly. Prices are reasonable.

We were just in Philadelphia for a couple of days and had no clue where to eat. Stumbled on this place the night we got in, and man, we felt lucky to find it! I had the Nashville hot chicken sliders and a side of mashed potatoes, my husband had the short ribs stroganoff, and our son had the lasagne. None of us were disappointed. In fact, I'm pretty sure my husband had a love affair with his stroganoff. Mr. "I'm not very hungry tonight" finished every last bite, practically licking the dish. My sliders were wonderful. I love it when food is good when you bite into it, but then somehow gets better as you're chewing. That's exactly what happened with these little bits of delight. Our son really enjoyed his lasagne and commented on how fresh the tomato sauce tasted. We decided to return the night before we left!

A 50s 60s vibe, in homage to grandparents. A daily slush drink at the bar, this one lemon basil, delicious and beautifully presented with a fresh basil leaf. Fried cheese curds with scallion ranch dressing and guajillo sauce, very tasty. We also had cauliflower fried in falafel mix, tasty. Nice place for drinks and a popular restaurant for quality American comfort food.

Food was good. Interesting food options. Service was good. Atmosphere is pleasant. Happy with our Sunday brunch.

While wandering the city we happened to stop in to this wonderful restaurant. We would’ve had to wait an hour for a table but we were able to sit at the bar and we’re so glad we did. We just got a quick drink; they had a nice beer selection. We ordered the tofu buns, which were absolutely amazing. While we were there some Mummers stoped by just to make a perfect festive evening.

fortunate to get a reservation on a rainy work night...very busy and crowded....our server was attentive but quick moving....just short of brusque, no time for chit chat....fried chicken consistently special....short ribs of beef tender and flavorful....anything on the menu is worth trying here....there is no slacking on the portion or the pleasure...

We stopped at this restaurant for lunch and one of the individuals in our party ordered a special salad but they did not have all of the contents for the salad so instead brought a plate of lettuce. When the bill arrived, it included the full charge for the 'special salad' they were unable to make. The waitress informed us that she "had already entered the item into the system before realizing they couldn't make it so was unable to change it despite the fact they could not make the dish as ordered". We recommend finding a different restaurant and will not be returning.

When Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine said on Small Bites Radio that Chef Marcie Turney is one of Philadelphia’s best chefs, I finally took notice. The name was familiar, and I was aware of the restaurant group that Chef Marcie and her partner Valerie Safran ran, and who knows why, but I had never been to one of them. Well I should be ashamed of myself. I like to call myself a foodie, and was missing a big portion of why Philadelphia is receiving so many accolades nationally due to our wonderful restaurant scene with Chef Marcie being one of the driving forces and reasons why. I decided that my birthday would be a good excuse to make my first visit to one of Chef Marcie’s restaurants. If she is indeed that talented, then why not go during a time that should be celebrated and special. Well I can honestly say, she and her team did not disappoint in the least. The choice was made to dine at Bud and Marilyn’s. It was the chosen destination since I would have my 6 year old son join us, and the menu looked approachable for all palates. As soon as we stepped inside and saw multiple families dining there, I knew things were off to a good start. From start to finish it was an impeccable experience at Bud and Marilyn’s. The décor is simple and tasteful. The service was flawless. The drinks were strong and mixed to perfection. The food was amazing, and dessert delectable. I can’t say enough of how much fun and how wonderful the meal was. Now don’t get me wrong, Bud and Marilyn’s will not be for everyone. We had American comfort food at its finest, and this type of cuisine is not for everyone. Chef Marcie does this style well, and I am now intrigued to try her other restaurants to sample her versions of Italian, Mexican, and Mediterranean. Give them try, and maybe you will become a fan of Chef Marcie like me and Chef Robert Irvine. Below is what I had: Warm Pretzel Rolls, Thai Style Mussels, Fried Cheese Curds, Soft Shell Crabs, Fried Chicken, and Funfetti Cake. They were ALL delicious as could be!

We are always looking for a new, yummy place to check out in the city and although you won't hear an over the moon review from me, it was worth going to. It had an energetic and hip ambiance. We sampled around the menu and it was good too. We tried one of the buns (they have their own spot on the menu) they were just okay. I had a fried fish special and my friend had the fried chicken. All very good just not great. But again if you want a new spot it is worth the go.

This restaurant has very good lunch fair. Both my friend and I had the turkey avocado sourdough sandwich. It was very large and tasted wonderful. Our service was excellent. The restaurant seemed quite loud when we first came in however it was not distracting. I had salad with the sandwich and the overall meal size was huge. They had other interesting entrées. I would definitely go again or recommend it

My wife and I were in the city running errands, and stopped in to Bud & Marilyn's for brunch. Fortunately, I booked a reservation, because the place was hopping on a Saturday morning. I had a steak ranchero dish that was outstanding. Looking around at the other dishes in the room, it seemed like a wide range of excellent possibilities. It was pretty energetic and a little noisy, but well worth it. Service was pleasant, though not particularly attentive.

We enjoyed several delicious foods! The service was good and the chicken sausage was awesome! It was a Spicy sauce over homemade pasta with spinach. The fried chicken and meatloaf were also great choices! Friendly staff. Book ahead so you won’t have to wait! I wanted to try the trout but they were out of that and shrimp cocktail. A small menu but great food.

Hungry and tired on a lazy Saturday morning, we decided to step out for brunch. Best decision! Relaxed and warm atmosphere. If you like American comfort food (meat lover or vegetarian), the food here is excellent! I liked their portion size and the fact that they offer a great selection. The service is also very good, the staff was friendly and we never felt rushed!

Not awesome. It was very loud. The food was OK. The chicken buns were delicious. The meatloaf was Very garlicky. The short rib was very bland. And then the server spilled ranch dressing all over the table and my husband. He was not particularly helpful cleaning it up. We had to take napkins from another table. I wouldn’t recommend. There are lots of other great spots nearby.

This place is truly happening. Situated in the Gay village (which is awesome) with some great food to enjoy. However, the reviews on the noise level are true. Nothing wrong with that if that’s your thing for an ambience but I found it hard to have a conversation with my partner. I literally had to speak a little bit louder just to be heard and the dining tables are set close to each other. Food was great and the cocktails were exceptional. I enjoyed it but would definitely appreciated it a bit more if it was on a quieter side too. Will definitely return! :)

When you walk in it's a bit of a step back in time... but that's kinda cool. Tables are very close together so it's not a place you go for a romantic evening for quiet times.. Our server was perfect from start to finish. Not overly on top of us but there when needed and paced the food good. The wedge salad is incredible. It's unusual but a really great mixture and play on a traditional wedge salad. Our drink were mixed perfect and a nice selection of beers. The scallops were cleaned and prepared perfectly. The little corn cakes that came with them were a great touch. Tried the funfetti cake for dessert. It was a bit try but came out with great presentation and the frosting was delicious. A little more the sauce on the bottom would have hoped how dry the cake was. Would return without hesitation.

Came here after a show for dinner. Not a huge menu, if you have a vegetarian with you it will be a little limited. The shareable fried rice with tofu was more than enough for two to share. The tofu was well cooked and the rice with kimchi was delicious. We also had the tofu buns and hot Nashville chicken buns. Both were really tasty. My dining companion did not like cilantro and our waitress determined it could be removed from the slaw in the tofu buns - a nice extra that made the experience all the better. We’d like to come back and try brunch!

We had read the food reviews for Bud & Marilyn’s and decided to give it a shot. The service was amazing-some if the best we have had in PHL. Our sever Jack was great and extremely attentive-all the staff were friendly. Order a Citrus Cocktail to start and then the Pecan Roll-Yumm. Extremely tasty!! Fried chicken next-humm, it was ok-I think I will try something else when we return. Chicken was moist but the breading was over cooked for my taste and not “crispy”. I am from the South and we love crispy fried chicken. Food size was ample-so easy to share. Plenty to choose from on the menu and drinks list. Vibe was cool-and as I mentioned fantastic service. One other review mentioned the noise level-it is loud-more from the patrons conversations that the music etc. Have fun, enjoy-oh-parking $$ is just across the street if you are driving in.

This place makes you feel at ease with very friendly and knowledgeable service. Excellent food, very fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Great cocktails too. Reasonably priced.

Great service, but extremely noisy. Appetizers of falafel cauliflower, bratwurst sliders and fried cheese curds were outstanding, but their "known for" fried chicken had a soggy, not crisp, crust. When reservations were made, we were told they would have soft shelled crabs that night...but when we got there they said the shipment didn't come in.:-(

Relaxed environment with lots of energy. Comfort delicious food. Service very good. Dining room is loud. Bar in the back.

Warm welcome, great cocktails, really enjoyed the shakshuka which was rich, spicy, plentiful and plenty of veg.

Lovely retro decor. Service was painfully slow. It we very noisy and crowded. We came for the chicken. It's better @ Roy Rogers or KFC and much less expensive and noisy

The two ladies here in phila have 5 or 6 venues..most of which are great but this one i find way too noisy; the millenial hosts are totally into themselves and to hell with the patrons..condescending at the minimal...the food, cant fault it....the price mid level, the noise at brunch time was loud and i am at that stage of my life where if i have to yell or be yelled at to hear i dont want to go back , at least not on a sunday brunch ...

We stopped in while visiting Philadelphia recently. The Fried Chicken Sandwich and Cobb Salad were both terrific.

We recently visited Philadelphia, using the Visit Philly hotel package. We stayed at the Independent Hotel and were thrilled to find Bud and Marilyn's, which occupies the first floor of the hotel building. This is a great place - nostalgic for us Wisconsinites. Bud & Marilyn owned a bar/restaurant in Wisconsin, and they serve up some Wisconsin comfort food and drinks as a part of their menu. We only experienced the bar, where our bartender was extremely friendly and talented with his mixology. We enjoyed talking with him throughout our time there. From what we saw, the food looked great, too, with a nice atmosphere throughout. Since we were staying right upstairs, we didn't worry about travel, but this is a classic place you should try, if you're in Philadelphia.

What a great surprise. Dropped in on a Sunday night while staying close. This place oozes cool, and the food marches the vibe. All chef-

I first visited this restaurant while in Philadelphia for business last March. When back in town for business in November, I looked forward to returning and was not disappointed. I wasn’t surprised the menu had changed, but the roasted carrot salad in March incredible. This time I started with cheese curds, which were perfectly cooked and served with a smoked salsa - one of the best bites of my 2019. I continued with a Cobb salad that had avocado, beets, a pickled egg, large crumbles of blue cheese, bacon chucks that might actually have been pork belly, radish, and a green goddess dressing. They also have a great selection of craft beer and tasty cocktails.

This is place is very good, servers are on top of it, but not annoying. Timing is excellent, as is the food, and the atmosphere. We had a party of 9 and everyone loved it. Not cheap, but worth it.

ADORABLE fantastic ambiance! I came here at 1130pm and they have tea light candles, very unique decor and I love it! I had a glass of Chardonnay, the Nashville Hotbites ( fried chicken — apparently they’re known for their friend chicken and I am originally from TX- so I had to!!) and their fennel crushed cauliflower!!! YUMMMMM SO DELICIOUS. Friendly staff and they take resos on Open table :) Worth a try!

This place is so cute inside!! Very crowded but perfect ambiance. We had a small window table with a great view of city life. The prices were ok. The sandwiches were IMMENSELY flavorful! Impeccable service. Great location. Highly recommend.

We like brunch at this place and wish it was open for lunch during the week. I had a delicious salad with some shrimp on top: good dressings; good things mixed in and topped by some fried onion. rings--a delicious surprise.

Airport restaurant looked good. Menu well written fiction. Charge for sauce really? Chicken fingers ask for extra sauce $1 charge ( 1000% profit on that one). Airport food expensive but fries chicken fingers and a fried chicken sandwich out of a bag and fried $20 a plate. Service was mediocre . Disturbing when servers avoid eye contact fearing you want something. Better of fitting fast food for the $

Full disclosure: we found Bud and Marilyn's on a whim as we searched for something near downtown, that took reservations, and that had decent reviews. The dinner we had at Bud and Marilyn's exceeded expectations by far. This was my first trip to Philadelphia and this place convinced me that it had world rate food options. Being a west coast diner in an east coast place, the menu was inspired without being intimidating. You really could not go wrong with whatever you ordered. The cocktails went down easy, especially the Lakeside, a vodka, lime, mint, vodka, inspiration. I had pretzel rolls and the lasagna, but everything I saw on other plates brought about envy that I did not order everything on the menu. Usually, we're too full to do dessert, but we had the almond roca dairy-free ice cream, which was also inspired. The atmosphere was welcoming without pandering too much to outsiders. Definitely make a reservation and enjoy the experience. They will take care of you here.

As a Wisconsinite living on the East Coast, it can be hard to find real, genuine Wisconsin food. Bud and Marilyn’s gives a great, modern twist on WI grub. Highly recommend Marilyn’s Old Fashioned (made with brandy!), the cheese curds, the bratwurst buns, fish & chips, and short rib stroganoff. Honorable mention for the summer ale and street corn. Great vibes, even better food!

pub like atmosphere, seating on the tight side BUT the service was excellent. They couldn't do enough for you. Wisconsin Cheese curds a must try if you have never had them; I had the skirt steak which was excellent and hubby had the fried chicken...some of the best chicken you'll ever eat; however, breading color on the dark side..not golden brown. Reservations a must on the weekends.

Before heading out of Philly on Super Bowl Sunday we enjoyed a delicious brunch at Bud Ana’s Marilyn’s. Service was awesome and the food was better than awesome! The cinnamon bun was ridiculous delicious.

This place is the real deal! I loved the grilled Po Boy shrimp Benedict with a light hollandaise sauce (with a kick) on a toasted potato roll. The dish included perfectly sautéed spinach and peppers/onions with home fries. My husband throughly enjoyed the Biscuit and Gravy entree which offered Lancaster ham, sautéed greens and cheddar on a buttermilk biscuit with sausage gravy. Both dishes presented symphony of of harmonized flavors. A great brunch spot!!

We had an early pre- concert dinner on a Friday night. The service was very good and the menu was unique. We shared a falafel covered cauliflower, which was very good, and I had brick chicken with lots of wonderful spices and vegetables. My husband had a pork chop which was delicious. We had a large piece of chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. Everything was very good and we would definitely come back.

Their lunch menu is more limited than the dinner options. The fried chicken was yummy, fries were good too. It’s a bit noisy for a large group but the service was efficient. Not too shabby!

My favorite meal is brunch, and Philly is full of great enclaves to indulge (e.g., Green Egg, Mixto, etc.) so we always throw in a new (to us) spot on our annual visit to our old stomping groups. This time we tried Bud and Marilyn’s, a retro-chic throwback diner from the owners of Barbuzzo who have reinvented the neighborhood, and it’s an instant favorite! Cool vibe - think kitsch in a good way, unpretentious, and most importantly - amazing food! The cheddar biscuits and sausage gravy were ridiculously tasty - not your usual heavy helping of glop. And I ate as much of my kids’ thick cut French toast and pancakes as I could before they finished them up - also excellent... lite, fluffy, mmm. Shrimp Benedict - perfect kick of spice on some big ol’ shrimp... great coffee too. The drink menu looked amazing also - shame we had to drive on out right after, but we’ll be back. Great restaurant in newly vibrant part of town - highly recommend!

It was Restaurant Week in Philadelphia. Our Reservations was for 5:00 pm. (3 female coworkers) I did not realize that this place doesn't open until 5. So, We had to wait in line, on the corner when we arrived at 4:45 pm. This place is suppose to be known for its Fried Chicken an biscuits. I told another coworker we were going here and he said he and his wife frequent this place and thought the drinks and food were good. That should have been a clue. He is a bourbon man, brown liquor type, stogie in hand guy. I knew this place was retro but thought of something completely different in my head. It reminded me of 1960, visiting grandmothers house with the bar cart in the corner. I ordered the fried chicken and biscuits because I heard that was there staple. While waiting we attempted to order drinks. All the drinks are old world. You can't get a fruit drink of any kind...Actually I was discouraged by the waiter not to do so. He said nothing was fresh only a puree from their brunch menu and it was not good. I took his advise and went with the rose slush cocktail . It was ok nothing to write home about. If you are not into old world drinks, bourbon, whisky, scotch you might want to have a drink before you get there. The chicken was well seasoned but to get it crispy they over cooked it. The staff there was very pleasant and accommodating. My appetizer was brought out incorrectly twice and they were very nice about returning it and quickly brought out another one. If you like kitchy places, This is the place for you. Not my thing. The atmosphere was dark and gloomy. It made me feel like back in the day when you visited a relative and they have plastic on there furniture and your parents make you sit on it, and when you get up your pants stick to your butt. I like 2019!

Just had lunch at Bud and Marilyn’s and it was a pleasure, as usual. Cheese curds and Nashville hot chicken sliders are mouth-watering! Since there were three of us, we also got to sample French Onion Arancini balls...another excellent choice. No one could get past the fried chicken sandwich...such a great one! Dessert was butters out here bread pudding, which was delicious, but no one could finish it! Will always be ready to return to this charming restaurant!

The good aspect of this restaurant was the food - the Peruvian Chicken that I ordered was nicely cooked and tasty. The evening was not though an enjoyable experience. We were seated in a very dark part of the restaurant where we (and others!) had to use the torches on their mobile phones to be able to read the menus. I have never ever had that experience before in a restaurant .The staff refused to increase the lighting because of management direction. When the food came it was difficult to see what you were eating! The restaurant, as others have noted, was incredibly noisy because all the surfaces are hard and there is no sound baffling. It was very difficult to have an enjoyable conversation with friends. It was just not an enjoyable experience and I'm afraid that I would not eat here again or recommend it to others. If you do reserve I suggest that you insist on a table that is on the illuminated properly on the outer wall of the restaurant.

On the recommendation of a Philly resident, I tried Bud and Marilyn's -- and I was not disappointed. The short rib stroganoff was amazing. The banana creme pie was even better -- the best banana creme pie I've ever had. The pie was individually baked, featuring a tasty oat crust and a creamy topping. The best part was that the banana filling didn't taste like pudding; it didn't overwhelm the taste buds. All in all, a great experience!

Food was fair. The appetizer, Poo Plate had an interesting selection but nothing was spectacular. The beef in the beef stroganoff was very salty. If you just picked out the noodles, it was edible.

This gem is like a tardis. It doesn't look that big from the outside but is large inside. The staff are all very friendly, polite, and welcoming. We were served by a lovely waitress called Mickala, who helped explain the menu to us. Food was amazing, and the portion sizes were good. Chicken was extremely tasty and the biscuits were soft and fluffy. Visited twice and both times left very happy. Will definitely return in ever back in Philly.

This is a very popular American cuisine restaurant with a very vibrant, even noisy, atmosphere. It's also very expensive for the dishes it sells. We both had chicken, the grilled version was tasty, tender and interestingly flavoured. The portion was large. The fried chicken was ok but not much of a step up from KFC. The ice cream dessert was good. It was all ok but certainly not exceptional.

I saw the funfetti cake on a table while walking by during the day and it looked so good I had to try it! We stopped in that night and ordered salads (can’t really judge a place by their salad but they were okay) and the funfetti cake. It was so beautiful and my expectations were high - but it was as dry as the desert. I LOVE cake but I didn’t even eat my portion, the whole thing made me so sad. The frosting was just okay, without it I don’t know that the cake could be swallowed (my husband struggled to swallow his bite it was that dry). Super unfortunate as the atmosphere was fun and the service was good.

My sister and I were here a night for a concert. We got into town and we were starving. A friend recommended, however I noticed between 3-4:30 it looked like they didn’t serve food. I called and they said they had a light bar menu available. The bar menu had 4 items but what we got was amazing. The cheese curds were to die for and the fried chicken sliders were amazing! Their fried chicken has the best taste. Can’t wait to go back and try their regular menu. Very cool atmosphere.

Found this restaurant searching for places to eat on Tripadvisor for our visit to Philly. Had great reviews & we were not disappointed. I loved the backstory of the owners/chefs who own a number of places in town. They served delicious comfort food in a fun, fabulous, kitschy, retro setting. It was like what I would imagine going back to the 50's/60's diner, but cooler. My husband & I had a lovely corner table and were served by a lovely & attentive waitress. Our drinks were delicious and the food was superb. If you're looking for a fun restaurant with delicious comfort food, then you will not be disappointed dining here!

This was my first time to Bud & Marilyn's. There was a lot of energy in the place and the decor is kind of cool 1950s. The food was really good and portions were good sized. Our waiter was very nice, but didn't stop by the table to check on us or ask if we wanted refills of drinks (which we did). Service was quick. I would go back again.

I highly recommend the hot buttered buns - had the Nashville chicken and bratwurst. Both were delicious. The falafel crusted cauliflower and steak tartar were also good. Also had the peanut butter malt ball cake which is a towering slice of love. The banana cream pie was also very good and not too sweet. As other reviewers state, the dining atmosphere is quite loud and open with fairly close seating. The kitchen is of an open design. Definitely would return.

Excellent restaurant in the theater and town hall area. Offering both meat and fish, special appetizers, all very good and very generous in portions. The lobster is excellent. Our waitress was fantastic, nice and friendly. Thank you!

Our family of three had dinner at Bud and Marilyn's for the first time last night. We all agreed that our food was delicious. Hubby had the salmon, I had the delicious meatloaf, oh my goodness, truly yummy and my son raved over the kimchi fried rice. We had cocktails, again delicious and fun and a bit creative. Service was spot on: our waitress had the very observant keen eye from a far, quickly arriving with more water or to offer more drinks or to clear something away just when it was needed. The space is comfortable and inviting. There was one caveat however, it was way too noisy. My husband says he would not return for that reason. My son says he would absolutely return any time for it was delicious. I would return, but maybe not on a Friday night during restaurant week when the Opera Philadelphia festival is happening (which is the reason we are in town).

If you are looking for a restaurant before a show or concert, this place is perfect. It is a block behind the Doubletree on Broad, and location-wise, it can't be beat. You will need a reservation, and once you are there, you can see why. We were seated promptly and greeted by our waiter, without any of that phony "Hi, my name is Dylan and i will be taking care of you tonight" stuff. I have enough names to remember without adding that of my waiter. At any rate, he was excellent, making recommendations, checking in without being obnoxious and bringing extra forks for shared dishes. And the food - hats off to the chef for delivering on a nicely diversified menu. Everything we ate was delicious, and make sure you have the banana cream pie for dessert!

My spouse and I dined at Bud and Marilyn’s for brunch on a Monday afternoon in late December 2018 (New Year’s Eve). The restaurant is open daily for weekday lunch, weekend brunch, dinner, and drinks. (Note that the restaurant closes daily for 2 hours between the end of lunch/brunch service and the beginning of dinner service; it does not office continuous service.) You can reserve a spot using the online Open Table reservation system; however, the bar, chef’s counter, and some tables in the dining room are saved for walk-in guests. Bud and Marilyn’s, located in the Midtown Village neighborhood of the city, is named for the chef’s grandparents, who operated a Wisconsin restaurant called The Spot; the Philadelphia restaurant is an homage to that venue. Bud and Marilyn’s is part of the Safran Turney Hospitality Restaurant Group (the name features the last names of the chef/owners), which also operates Lolita, Barbuzzo, Grocery, Verde, Open House, Little Nonna’s, Jamonera, and Marcie Blaine Chocolates. (We dined at Barbuzzo in June of 2017; see our review titled "Mediterranean Kitchen and Bar - Farmhouse Chic Atmosphere for Delicious Rustic Food".) The restaurant space offers several places to dine: the drinks bar, with small tables for two adjacent, a food counter, the chef’s bar (where we requested to sit), and at tables and booths. Kitschy decor harkens memories of the 70s: paneling on the walls, Formica counters, old-timey paintings. Even the uni-sex restrooms and the wall shelves opposite keep to the theme, filled with appropriate bric-a-brac (including toys and TVs). Bud and Marilyn’s serves unique takes on comfort food. We started by sampling their Winter Sour cocktail and a beer. For our starter, we shared the “liver and onion” (chicken liver mousse topped with sautéed and raw onions and served with thick grilled brioche bread slices). For entrees, we shared the breaded chicken bucket (a half chicken plated adorably in a paper bucket atop thinly cut French fries, arranged on a small tray with a dish of coleslaw, jar of pickles, and a small bottle of hot sauce), and the chilaquiles verde (tortilla chips loaded with pulled pork, black beans, guacamole and a very spicy salsa verde). We couldn’t resist ordering the banana cream pie for dessert (an individual round pie crust filled with rich cream, topped with [seemingly canned] whipped cream, and garnished with bruleed banana slices). Our app and dessert were our favorite dishes of the meal; with the fried chicken coming in third; the chilaquiles were our least favorite item because the verde sauce was too fiery for us (and we like spicy food!), plus most of the chips were soggy rather than crisp (the top few crunchy chips that we ate initially were excellent, however). We enjoyed our lunch at Bud and Marilyn’s; after a successful meal there and at sister restaurant Barbuzzo, we look forward to trying more of their restaurants.

Great experience. Friendly service. The ribs were amazing. We loved the kimchi with pork belly. Go if you are in Philly.

We came in for a late lunch, and it was really quiet. Service was good (our drinks took awhile to come, but that was down to the bar and not our server). We started with the WI cheese curds (as someone who spends a lot of time in WI, they were REALLY good). My cocktail (The Lakeside, with violet) was also delicious. For our mains, my spouse had the fried chicken (which he described as "fine, but nothing special." He said the white meat tasted better than the dark (which was overdone). I had the hot chicken sandwich -- I would say it was also "fine," but nothing to write home about. It was slightly overdone, the chicken was dry (not tender), and the sauce was bland. There was no spice to it whatsoever. Overall, it was kind of a disappointing meal given the hype about the restaurant.

I adore Bud and Marilyn's! It is not a fancy place—but it is really warm and fun and good. I love their cocktails--super delicious and well made. They're great with one of their signature buns for the perfect bar bite. I recommend it as a place to catch a drink with a friend. The entree's are very good—not haute haute—but well done and creative. The portions are quite substantial, however, which was surprising. They could be smaller, I think, The wedge salad alone could be a share for 3! The hanger steak I had was terrific! The cakes they serve are ENORMOUS proportions and lots of crazy fun. Great service, too. Best of all the place is COMFORTABLE! You can actually sit and chat! Enjoy!

We had some time to kill before going to dinner at Vedge nearby. We stopped at the bar for a drink. The frozen drinks were quite refreshing and hit the spot on a hot day. We had the pierogi which were delicious. Unfortunately they were out of pretzel bites which we heard were yummy.

Bud and Marilyn's has so much buzz and we finally had some time to try the restaurant. We had to wait a for a table even though we had a reservation, but were able to try some cocktails, which were well made. Once seated, we were able to start trying the fare. We had some people with us, so that allowed us to order more and try more items. We started with pretzel rolls, hot buttered buns and heirloom carrots (maybe another one I can't recall). The other early dish was the "pork platter". This was the best dish of the entire night, with an enormous and diverse offering of cured meats and cheeses. It was a fun platter and a conversation piece. For the main dishes we had the brick chicken which was ok, and the stuffed meatloaf, which I felt was not anything to write home about, and a little too spicy for my liking. The dishes seemed well prepared, but for all the hype and wait, things fell a little short for us. We may come back and try again, and certainly it was not a bad experience, but I was hoping for more.

Tried this with limited time before a performance and we were very pleased with the food and service. Drinks could have been a bit more generous, but then we didn't have one of their specials. I would recommend the potato-crusted cod.

Went in for a quick lunch, hake and a glass of wine. Nice food, nice service, nice atmosphere, I will certainly go back.

This was like a slightly upscale diner atmosphere - but still very comfortable and homey. Bud's was bustling on a Saturday night and we had excellent service as well as delicious food. While we did not partake of the famous "fried cheese curds" appetizer, we enjoyed a perfectly sized cheese plate. Then my husband was in heaven while enjoying "Shortrib Stroganoff" and homemade biscuits (!!), and I had delicious Salmon. Since we celebrated my Birthday I could not pass up the Banana Cream Pie!!!! What a treat and we can't wait to go back the next time we are in town.
Great Food and drinks
Excellent poached eggs. Fantastic margaritas? Friendly staff. Home fried crisp to perfection. Fantastic waiting spot prior to boarding plane.
