After waiting in line for about 15 minutes for the restaurant's 5:30 opening, we were pleased with the courtesy of our fellow diners when it came time to enter: two queues, one door, but everyone seemed to have the same sense of who arrived when. The hostess greeted and seated us in a relaxed, but professional manner; not to chatty, not too haughty, just right. The restaurant's interior is that of a no nonsense, "food is our priority" eatery. The ceramic tile covered, wood fired oven at the back of the dining area, as well as the scraped, distressed plaster walls reinforced that feeling; clean, a little noisy, but ready to deliver. There appeared to be room for about 40-45 diners including the bar. Food wise, Bufalina exceeded our expectations; great fresh ingredients, truly delicious, wood fire cooked margherita and taleggio (sausage and scallion) pizzas enhanced beautifully by their wonderful in house mozzarella cheese. Our fresh and simply presented Bibb lettuce and watermelon radish salads were excellent, although the basil and mint components of the cream dressing were not as noticeable as I expected. Our 2011 Montesecondo Chianti Classico Sangiovese and 2011 Catherine and Claude Maréchal Bourgogne "Cuvee Gravel” Rouge wine selections were both excellent and paired well with the pizzas. However, the pinot should have been chilled a little more before serving. And, the 5oz. pours (confirmed by our server) seemed, a little stingy, especially given the $16/glass prices. Next time we'll get a bottle of one of the wines and feel better about it. The pizzas were outstanding in terms of crust and flavor. The red sauce and mozzarella were perfect, however a few more basil leaves on the margherita would have been nice. The sausage and scallion pie was also delicious. We had no desire to add ingredients to either of them. There were seven pizzas listed on our menu, with no text indicating the ability to "build your own". So if you want to do that, you may be disappointed. Finally, our service was excellent; prompt, informative, well paced and friendly, Overall I would have given Bufalina a 5 rating, except the wine pricing per serving made it a pretty expensive pizza outing. The reason this is titled an "Adult Pizza Restaurant" is because the somewhat sophisticated salads and pizza ingredients, the cozy eating environment, and the prices combine to indicative kids, while welcome, would not necessarily appreciate the experience. Finally, we'll go back, most likely when we have some sort of special occasion to celebrate, or someone else is paying.

Definitely a must do when in Austin, great wine and cocktail choices and great pizza. High quality ingredients, freshness and flavor, they know how to make an excellent pizza. I adored the thin crispy crust, just the right amounts of toppings and pleasant atmosphere. Would definitely get the Margherita pizza again. Simplicity at its best!

Great pizza. We had the mushroom and comi which was crisp and yummy. The calabrese was not quite to my taste with too much heat and acid. However, the beet and chickory salad with tangerine slices and spicy local roasted peanuts with ricotta was outstanding. A great combination of flavors that was exciting to the last bite. We'll be back.

The pizza choices are appealing and the execution excellent. You could peruse the wine list for hours, try any offering and find it just right. Service is smooth and personable, and if available, the olive oil cake is not to be missed.

Bufalina was voted the BEST PIZZA IN AUSTIN last year and it's easy to see why. With fresh ingredients, cooked in a wood-burning oven you'll soon see why this place was given the honor. As with anything, there is room for improvement. This is a first-come-first-serve place. They open at 5:30p so get there early or expect to wait. Seating can be a bit awkward depending were you are sat in this small dining room, service can sometimes be hit or miss (we've had the waitress forget to give us drinks we ordered). In my opinion, their drinks (beer + wine) are rather expensive for the east side. Nonetheless the pizza is something you'll come back for time-and-time again. Our favorite is the Calabrese. I'm sure this pizza alone is the reason they were given the honor of being #1. Also, you must try their today's mozzarella. They change what they pair it with seasonally so ask what they're pairing it with the day of your visit. We once had it with peaches soaked in a balsamic vinegar and it was to die for!!! My mouth is actually watering right now just thinking about it. Another time is was paired with rosemary and garlic which was just a little too bitter, but the mozzarella is always consistent and delicious.

The margherita pizza was a home run and great wine & beer selection. Venue was smaller than expected, but not a bad thing. Limited seated for 2. We had to sit across from each other at a large communal table for 8 which was very awkward. The building is unique and concrete, however this caused it to be very loud & we could barely hear each other yelling across the table, while seated between strangers. Despite the undesirables we would definitely go back again.

After waiting almost an hour, we were seated. No iced tea on the menu. Only bottled soft drinks or alcohol. The list of appetizers left us perplexed. The list of pizzas were definitely different but not the best. We ordered an assortment of pizzas to taste. None were worth going back.

Stopped by late for a birthday celebration. There were full tables but they found us a nice one. Our little group was well treated and the food was wonderful. Our server even rounded up a candle for the birthday guy!

We had heard about this relatively new pizza place on East Cesar Chavez and finally got around to try it. Very impressed with the service at the bar as well as table, and the pizza and appetizers were unique, while simple and good. We had a bottle of vino recommended by a very knowledgeable bartender. We generally try to avoid Italian reds due to some headaches, but his recommendation was quality and fit our taste preference we shared with him. For dinner, we had both their day's mozzarella ($8) and Bibb salad ($8) for appetizers, then a Napoletano pizza ($14) - unique and fresh. Be prepared to wait (outside benches available), but it is well worth the wait. Very cozy atmosphere with large pizza oven at the back of the small restaurant. We will definitely go again!

You will certainly like the pizza at Bufalina. Being of Italian decent I consider myself an expert in this department and have been to Italy for the real deal many times. Pizza here was certainly good, much better than the typical American affair. People were very nice, but service could be faster, and noise level makes it hard for a nice conversation over your pizza, which is a huge Italian tradition. But overall I liked it vey much. Go for the anchovy, wow great cinque terra style fish draped across every slice, and the calabrese was outstanding as well.

Service is always great. There’s an excellent wine selection. Pizza and pasta is always delicious. It’s my favorite pizza place is Austin.

5 of us visiting Austin came here for dinner on a Sunday night and it didn't disappoint. We had the Bibb lettuce salad and the fall salad and they were both excellent. We also split 2 pizzas - the roasted mushroom and the harissa and they were delicious. One of the best crusts I've ever tasted. Truly delicious!

We have read great reviews about their pizza but it is hard to get in due to its popularity so to solve the problem, we ordered pizzas to go for our group of four vegetarians. Awesome is a good description and now we understand why it is always packed with customers! We had the Marinara which had nice slices of garlic and an tasty tomato sauce, the Margherita with the usual tomatoes, cheese, basil and parm, and the two most outstanding: the Harissa with cauliflower, green olives and herbs as well as the Mushroom with onion, french comte cheese and mozzarella. Really fantastic crust on all too. We will definitely be frequent consumers!

Very very good Italian style pizza. Stopped in last summer during business trip. The wait was long but worth it. This is the only pizza I had in Austin so I can't speak about it's competition, and probably never will, cause I'll be going back for the sure thing at Bufalina.

When we pulled up to Bufalina, I looked up and down the street for a pizza place. The exterior of the building is nothing special. Inside, it has that modern look -- finished and neatly painted on one side, unpainted on the other -- and has a large pizza oven in the middle in the back. Our table was ready before we could finish a glass of wine while waiting on the bench outside. We don't go to Austin to eat pizza but would not hesitate to go back to Bufalina on my next visit. We shared the burrata appetizer and two magherita pizzas; added mushrooms to the second one. The staff was attentive and did not rush us through our meal -- didn't bat an eyelash when we waited until the first pizza arrived before ordering the second one. Enjoyed both piping hot and did not burn our tongues!

The food is five-star for this kind of resto, it's a fun, laid-back place to eat but our server was having a bad day (although previous reviews have noted service attitude issues). The pizzas and salads were excellent, and it's clearly a regular spot for locals. We'd definitely go back for the food and hope for a more gracious server.

This place is quirky and fun. Really nice group of people working there and the pizza was great. I was with my family and we shared 4 pizzas, all were delicious. We got there at 530pm and were sat down immediately, but it wasn't long after that that people were lined up out the door. It did get loud, but the place is cool.

Was watching Food Network the other night and this joint made the Top 5 in the country for pizza, so you know I had to check it out. (Channeling my inner Guy Fieri) Went in and noticed it's a small place. Bar seats around 6-8 people from what I could count. Rest of the place seats about 50 or so people. (Not important) once you get in and seated, nothing else matters. The servers were FANTASTIC. I took my two kids, only kids there but nobody seemed to mind. The first thing I noticed was that it is a bit pricey. Oh, try the Zilker Pale Ale. Ordered a pasta appetizer and it was small but BIG on flavor. Ordered the Margherita pizza and Calzone. Both were delicious. My 6 year old complained that they didn't have "regular" cheese pizza but once she started eating, we were fighting for the next slice. I loved this place and would definitely go back.

Pizzas at bufalina are good but expensive for take out. They are very different on flavours and that's good. Maybe the price is ok to eat in but not to take out

Very good pizza. You can’t find better one in Austin. Also they have a good wines. Good music and enjoy your food...

Watched food network and this place was on best thing I ever ate. Not only was it far from the best thing I ever ate but wasn’t even the best pizza I ever ate. That being said it was actually really good. Started with an app of fresh mozzarella. It was good but nothing i would HAVE to order again. We ordered two pies. Both pies came out in like two minutes. They were both very good. The service was great. The place is very small so expect to be sitting next to strangers. I am from Ny/Nj area and many places here are better. I will say this was the best pizza I ever ate in Austin (granted only had pizza from 5 different places). Would I go back?? I would probably go for bbq or Mexican next time I am here but if I was craving pizza i would go back.

This was a nice little hidden gem - we visited Bufalina on Thursday, February 8th. We started with the roasted Broccoli (yum) and then followed it up with a Margarita pizza. We were very happy with the service and the food, the only drawback keeping it from a 5 rating is that we were forced to share a table with another group and their use of language was not appropriate.

Great place to have a very good pizza, lots of good food choices, several beers on tap, people watching is excellent. Only two minor complaints: (1) the crust was not really crisp and the pizza could be cooked a few minutes more to improve the crust's texture and (2) $12-16 for a pizza that is really medium is size is a bit too much.

Went by @11PM Sunday night 8 of us. Pizza was really good fresh Mozzarella just okay. Service good. Napolitan style crust "less is more" flavored. Loved the pies.

Again we find ourselves on a quest to find Austin's best pizza. This place is often mentioned in the top. It is small with some community style seating. I had been warned that waits can be long and they do not take reservations. Feel bold, I went here over the holiday weekend around 830pm. There was seating available with no wait. The ambiance is hip. It seems one side of the building is finished in a hip contemporary way. The other wall is exposed and not much has been done. I really liked the contrast. Cool urban industrial feel. Enough about the ambiance. Service was good. Wine list was fine. They also have beers on tap and in the bottle. Drink prices were reasonable. Well, at least reasonable by Austin standards. Lets talk about the pizza. I had to try the Margarita which is a measuring stick for all. The crust is Neapolitan style. It was fluffy and good. The sauce was flavorful and appropriately spiced. I was a fan of this one. We also had the mushroom and caramelized onion. This was killer. The onions and mushroom combo was a kickass flavor combo. I was digging this one. I liked this place. It is one of the better wood fire pizza joints in Austin. Maybe not the best I have had, but still worth the visit.

I thought I had reviewed this place ages aho. Great pizza, great selection of natural wines, Somms abound, amazing happy hour--I can't wait until it's open inside again after COVID has been vanquished. Seriously, though...the pizza is the best I've had in town--and when truffles are in, watch out!

Traditional Neopolitan pizza meets artisan toppings. Communal table atmosphere isn't my favorite, but it's the best way to get as many people as possible into the small space. Awesome wine selection that you won't find at other places, and they now sell the bottles to take away as well. Plan on getting there early, as you'll usually have a wait, but you can grab a glass of wine and wait outside. Fantastic pizza.

We stayed at the nearby Heywood Hotel and had a 6am flight the next morning so we thought we'd keep it simple with an early night at Bufalina. There are many places in our hometown, Sydney, Australia where people will queue or wait a long time for a table. I avoid those places. Queuing for food in 2014 outside of a refugee camp is ridiculous. Well that's what I thought. After 3/4 of an hour which we spent drinking something lovely from the fantastic wine list we finally got inside. I had an entree which featured Culatello from upstate New York which was exquisite. Easily the best cured meat I have ever eaten. Superb. Our simple pizza was also beautiful. The pizza dough was like nothing I've had before. It was slightly reminiscent of some very fine naan breads I have had in India. Full of the wood fire smoke but with an indescribable deliciousness that I'd never had in a pizza before. Whatever they are doing with that dough and oven it works for me. Not in Italy, New York or Sydney (which is a very Italian city), have I had a better pizza. Or more accurately a better pizza dough. (Anyone can do the toppings).

Really enjoyed the pizza at Bufalina. The toppings were fresh and tasty, and the menu choices very good.

Excellent pizza, carefully made to true Neapolitan standards, cannot overcome the poor wine selection. Because the wine list is comprised of mostly obscure wines, we asked our young waitress for help selecting a full bodied red wine. Her recommendation could not have been worse. The color of the wine matched red wine vinegar. The taste was slightly better. It was the first time I have ever called the manager and asked him to replace the bottle. In fact, I asked him to taste the wine, but he did not do so in our presence. The replacement bottle, though more expensive, was better. Our group shared several delicious salads and pizzas. All of the food was great, but I do not think I will return.

Several glasses of the house wine, bibb salad, mushroom pizza, and olive oil cake (omg) made for a very relaxing Friday lunch. Very professional server and great people watching as well.

We were looking for some AWESOME pizza when we were visiting Austin so we decided to try out Bufalina. We ordered 6 different pizzas to share between the 10 of us as well as a few other items. Everything was delish! So fresh and tasty. Highly recommend, take out or eat there.

We visited bufalina has for lunch the pizza was amazing definitely going back before we leave Austin the service was the ultimate Nick was our server and we want to thank him for his help in telling us about the city the service the food and friendliness we are a couple in our 60s and Austin is a very young oriented Tyrone still on your home it's a long and Nick made us feel very welcome in a hipster type area thanks Nick America's top rated Hilton Head located the southern

The pizza is good and so are the appetizers and deserts but the place is crowded and noisy. (It is true that we arrived on a Friday nigh at 6:30.) We waited about 40 minutes for a table and when we left at almost nine there was still a line. The service is good and atmosphere inviting but not sure it is worth the wait.

I would say the only drawback of this restaurant is that they don't take reservations. We started off with the Burrata. Yum! They have a a great wine list; we split a bottle of Italian red. They also have many Austin beers to choose from on tap. I had the sausage pizza with tallegio cheese and added two eggs. So good. My husband had the spicy jalapeno pizza with potatoes. Delicious. They also suggested a bar called Weather Up for a cocktail afterwards which had great craft cocktails.

Loved the setting and the pizza - four of us shared 2 pizzas and an appetizer which was perfect. Wine is a little pricey, but selection is decent.

Visiting family in Austin and they took us to Bufalina. Looks like it is located in an up and coming area. We waited for over an hour to get a table, the wait was worth it. The pizza was excellent, beer selection was limited, wine list was good. Limited seating so be ready for a wait, benches out front to have a drink while you wait. Would go again.

The pizzas here are totally delicious. We shared three and there was absolutely nothing left. Probably the most notable was the anchovy which had super flavours.

Visited this restaurant with my husband and we will be back again soon! The winner just was excellent and the mushroom pizza to die for!

This place does not only offers you awesome food but has great atmosphere to hang along with your buddies. One of the coolest places I've been in Austin area.

They don’t take reservations, so get there early! The food is fantastic as is the service. The menu and the extensive wine list will not disappoint! If you love artisan pizza, this is your place!

My wife and I live nearby the Caesar Chavez location. We love the pizza and Caesar salad at Bufalina. The wine list is extensive and fun. It’s the kind of place we love to love. Unfortunately we’ve had consistently unpleasant service here and despite about eight visits where we tried to overlook the service we just don’t feel good going back again. Leif, who seems to be a manager or owner, has a great kitchen. But Leif is in the wrong line of work as a hospitality manager. That’s as kind as I can put it. Fix the management, make it friendly and care about local customers, and this is a winning recipe.

This neapolitan style pizza shop came highly recommended by locals and our hotel. I've had this style of pizza at Cane Rosso in DFW and Dough in San Antonio and absolutely love it! The crust, on the thin-side has a pizza-fired taste, and the topping combos are usually more of a farm-to-table vibe than your typically pizza joint. Overall, the pizza was very good, but not as great as I have experienced at other places. I would definitely recommend to others in the mood for pizza - the wine list is great and the service was also very good. But the flavors didn't seem to be as complex or interesting as they could have been. Watch out for the peppers on the pepperoni pizza! SPICY! If you're in the East Side looking for a nice, intimate place to dine, or in the mood for pizza - def give it a try.

We saw this on TV listed as the best Margarheta pizza in the U.S. so our expectations were high going in here. The pizza didn't live up to its billing. The appetizers and desserts were better than the pizza's The beer list was great. The atmosphere was good. Parking was difficult as there is very little parking. It was overpriced no matter what you think of the food.

Enjoyed take out from this restaurant that was conveniently located to our hotel. Delicious and lots of interesting toppings.

We arrived early for lunch on a Friday and had no problems getting a table. We ordered the Margherita and Fresco pizzas. Both were excellent, especially the crust which was light, pillowy and chewy – just the way we like it. Service was friendly and quick.

Walked over to this place on the recommendation of a friend. Since I was by myself, I got lucky and managed to score a seat at the bar with no wait. Steven, the owner, has set up a great wine list. I would have liked to see a bit more Italian (fair amount of French wines on the menu) but it's a minor quibble and all of the wines went great with my food. The wine list is not your typical wine list like you'd see at many restaurants but is really well thought out and has great selections from France, Italy and the US of A. The pizza was very, very good- the gentleman I was sitting next to was from San Francisco and we both agreed that this place matched up with any of the best pizza places in the Bay area. I also loved the walk over from 6th street- the entire area east of the highway had a really cool vibe and I wish I had a bit more time to hang out around there

We get many of our recommendations from restaurant staff, this one came from someone at Lenoir.Having read about, and being "allergic"to waiting,we got there just after 5.30 and were seated immediately. We walked and were very warm so bottles of cold water were delivered as we sat down without any prompts, the first indicator of the warm and professional service that we experienced throughout.Pizzas were outstanding in their quality (fantastic ingredients)and simplicity.Dough, mozzarella, proscuitto and sausage just the best,a good oven in good hands did the rest.Good wine list with by the glass options and fair prices.Bufalima sets the benchmark for Pizza in austin as far as we are concerned.

This place has the best pizza in Austin and is a must if you are in the area. We were a large group of 8 that was warmly greeted at 5:30 when we arrived for our reservation. They only take reservations for large parties and only at 5:30. The house made mozzarella is the star as well as the top quality ingredients that are used on the pizzas. The Brussels sprout pizza was our fav but the margarita pizza and the arugula one were just as delicious. It has a great reasonably priced wine list. Be prepared to wait in line for a table but it is most worth the wait. The owner was delightful and welcoming. We will visit this place every time we visit Austin.

We came in for dinner on a Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Get here close to opening on weekends since they can fill up quickly. The wine list... it's like looking at the roster of an all star team. There's something for everyone on here. The food... I'd highly recommend the bibb lettuce salad and Margherita pizza. Both were so full of flavor! The prizes are fair, too.

We were craving Pizza tonight so we decided Buffalina was the place. Short story….it was OK but we won’t be back. If you want to know more, read on. It was a Sunday night. We thought they opened at 5 but they actually open at 530. We arrived at 510 and there were already about 10 people already standing around outside waiting. Good sign, I guess. By the time 530 rolled around and they opened the doors, there was a large enough crowd to fill the place. We were seated right away. We ordered quickly….the daily mozzarella, a pizza with brussel sprouts and a bottle of rose. It is a very small place. The atmosphere is OK although we don’t find the unfinished ugly wall “trendy,” we just find it dirty. There are a lot of large potentially communal tables in the place. Fine with us but just wanted to let you know. The menu is small but good selections of appetizers and pizza. They don’t seem to offer create you own pizza although we have not tried (we have been here three times). The wine list is not great. Why the “meh” rating? Really slow for the first mozzarella course. We asked for bread to go along with it and never got it. We also asked for ground pepper and extra olive oil. Finally got the pepper when we were finished but never did get the bread or olive oil. The dish itself was OK but not great. It should have been served with more of the tapenade and extra oil. The signature pizza was mediocre at best. The mix of toppings was good, in fact very good. But the crust wasn’t cooked properly. It was soggy to the point of being “doughy.” The service was just OK. We counted 7 servers in a very small room (no more than 40 patrons) and the service was slow and pretty inattentive. The food had potential but just didn’t’ live up to it. The atmosphere is just a small uninteresting loud room. We will try another spot next time.

This place had been talked up by many as being the best pizza in Austin, so me and my friend were very excited to try this place. I'm a vegetarian, so we decided to split two pizzas that would suit my diet, their seasonal special pizza and the traditional margherita pizza. The vegetarian pizza was a little too special and came with herbs, pistachios and some other toppings I've forgotten. I felt punished for being adventurous. I liked the margherita pizza much better and the fresh mozzarella was nice and chewy. The mozzarella really was the saving grace of the entire dinner and the meal would have been nothing special at all without it. Something I really appreciated about the restaurant was their nice local beer selection that included one of my new favorites, Zilker Brewery. The beer was decently priced for a restaurant too, $5 a pint, but I was disappointed that it was served in a shaker pint glass. Other considerations: There is a small free parking lot. The decor inside is minimal, including an unfinished concrete wall. They have community style seating in which you share a long bench table with other guests. Bottom line: For $12 a 12inch pizza, I did not feel full and I wouldn't consider ranking it as the best pizza anywhere, especially Austin. If you want to spend $12 on an amazing, filling pizza in Austin with a good beer selection, visit a Via 313 - my vote for best pizza in Austin.

I've been here twice and both times it has been a wonderful culinary experience. They have an authentic Naples oven that cooks up the finest pizza in Austin. I've been to Dough in San Antonio, but it pales in comparison to Bufalina. They also have a fantastic wine selection. The ingredients are fresh and seasonal. The wait is about a half hour, but the pizza is easily worth it.

The pizza is amazing! We tried the Fresca pizza, White Calabrese, the crust was perfect and the pizzas delicious!. There was a little bit of wait for the tables that you share with other people , the place is small. The white brick oven is in the room and could smell the delicious pizza! They have an amazing wine list.

This place was small, yet comfortable with a delicious menu. It made my belated birthday diner amazing! The almond and olive oil cake at the end was a great way to end the night. My friend liked it as well.

This is, quite probably, the best Neapolitan-style pizza in Austin. That said, that is a subjective statement, objectively speaking, it’s…ok. The crust isn’t terribly flavorful, and a little dry ti my taste, but, *but*, it’s better than anything else you’ll get in Austin Basically, YMMV

Loved the food at Bufalina's! The service was stellar, too! Be prepared to wait unless you arrive early, but it is absolutely worth it. We had the cheese plate to start, followed by the chorizo & potato pizza and the olive oil almond cake to end. Looking forward to my next trip to Austin, so I can eat at Bufalina's! :-)

If you don't mind a bit of poor service from 5 shades of hipster, this is actually a really nice place for pizza. Good atmosphere.

We love NY style pizza and when we go to NYC, we go to Roberta’s ... we didn’t have to go far from AUSTIN to enjoy a good pizza .. in March the two restaurants collaborated to bring great pizza in Atx

We have been to both locations. Pizza was awesome a both places. Atmosphere is lively and fun...if a bit loud. But the wine list really needs improvement. There are only six red wines and surprisingly no Cab, no Merlot. A few unusual selections. Not even some good Italian wines. Maybe someone is trying to keep the price down but there are many better low cost wines. If you only want to have six wines to keep it simple - pick some better wines! Can we bring our own wine next time?

The poor customer service and overall off-putting vibes we got from the staff we encountered did not reflect the quality of the food. I know we aren't the only people who have waited an hour here for a pizza, but I definitely expected way better service and at least a smile from one person. The pizza we had was very good but I doubt we will be back based on our experience.

Having eaten pizza many times in Italy I wondered what this would be like, I really like the italian woodoven pizza , not the thick dough type. Well we were in luck , it was excellent, really good italian style pizza cooked in a wood oven. I hear there is usually a long que to get in , so we went for a late lunch/early dinner about 4 pm amd just walked in. It filled up as we ate. Very good and reccomended

This was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. We ordered the Margherita pizza. The crust was spectacular, fluffy and very light. The sauce was just right with excellent flavor and zest. It was the right size first two people. We also ordered the Bibb Lettuce Salad.... this was made with terrific combination of lettuce, cucumber, watermelon and feta cheese and the dressing was simply perfect. We were waited on by JC who did a superb job of taking care of us and was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The place is a bit small but had a spunky and fun atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

We dropped in after a walking tour and were seated right away. The staff was attentive and kind, and the Caesar salad was delicious. However, the pizza was just mediocre. The crust was underdone on the bottom (still somewhat raw) which was disappointing and problematic. However, the tomato sauce was bright, and delicious. Overall, probably not worth a second visit if we're in town, especially if you've had good, Neapolitan pizza before.

We were starving and excited to go out for pizza. I found this place on tripadvisor (so far tripadvisor has not done us wrong). Tonight was the worst experience dining-wise in Austin since we arrived. We arrived at Bufalina Pizza to a line out the door. We gave our name and waited outside for our table. We didn't wait long before the hostess called us in. She seated us at what she called a 'community table'. So myself and my boyfriend were seated at the end of a table with a large family of six. It was awkward for both parities. Several other couples were later sat alone at big tables. My boyfriend and I were too hungry to argue. I asked about sangria, they didn't serve it but instead of asking me about wine she just took the drink menu and left(and I was going to order a glass of wine). The waitress was very unenthusiastic, not personable and snooty. We ordered both the meat and cheese platters. These are a huge rip off. Three small hunks of cheese and meat. Had to ask for more bread and crackers for both. I enjoyed all the food on each platter but very much overpriced. Not impressed. We ordered our pizza (off a menu which is different than the one you will find online --also part of the reason we chose to come here). We waited.... and waited... and waited... we watched several other tables get their food. Yet we still waited. In any normal restaurant we would be fine to just chat and wait patiently. This restaurant however is SO loud that we couldn't even hear each other talk from across the table. We were yelling 'WHAT' so talking wasn't with it. I was about to stand up and walk out when our pizzas arrived. They were very mediocre. And I mean very mediocre. I will never return nor will I recommend this restaurant to anyone. We couldn't get out of there fast enough...

Minimalist in just the right way. Super-thin pizzas with nice chewy crust. Simple ingredients put together to highlight the quality of those ingredients first and foremost. A single Sonos speaker putting out just the right tunes. Probably only 15 things on the whole menu, and they're all great.

I don't know, 2 stars even seems generous but there's no option for 1.5 so I'll round up. It's a tiny place with 2 huge tables in the middle and a few little tables on the side. So not much room. And small spaces get incredibly loud when it's crowded (again, this isn't a big place to being "crowded" doesn't take much. We had to be seated at a big table with a random family we didn't know because otherwise, we had to wait even longer and we were pretty hungry already.. The cheese board and meat board are overpriced. Also, why aren't they just one thing? These could easily be paired and served together and become a much better appetizer.. Just sayin.. You'd think cutting up meat and cheese would be quick. It wasn't. It took very long. If that wasn't bad enough, our pizza took even longer. I usually love neapolitan pizza but this one wasn't really anything great at all. Service was slow, appetizers were average, and pizza was okay. Nothing id come back for.

Great food. Kind folks. Little loud but great vibes. An Austin staple. Don’t skip the pastas or the bread and butter! The pizzas are great but the other things are great. Caesar salad also amazing.

An outstanding choice for Handcrafted Neapolitan pies with artisanal ingredients. This place has a funky cool vibe about it with that neighborhood feel. Come let us eat and enjoy one another's company with pizza and beer or wine. Who can complain about that concept. Prompt friendly and quick service. Pizza presentation is perfect. You will love this place. Plenty of options to enjoy and your kids will like this too.

This was an interesting spot in a little bit of a random location (at least it appeared that way to us outsiders). Cheese plate was very yummy and the pizza was great. I wouldn't go with the Indian spiced one (way to spicy for this gringo) but others were winners - the wood oven crust is divine. Fun and lively spot to try.

We loved the atmosphere of this local pizza joint & the kids loved it to. They were very family friendly although this is definitely a "nicer" pizza restaurant. We skipped the appetizers and went straight for pizza. We had to order 4 due to the 6 of us in the family. It would be nice to offer a larger size. The pizza was great..ordered (2) Margherita, Taleggio, & Napoleteno. The Margherita was by far the favorite on the table. No one really enjoyed the Taleggio. If you like spicy, the Napoleteno is something different. We all left feeling like we are a lot of carbs and not much as far as toppings. Although the good, we look for more from our pizza.

We were introduced to Bufalina this weekend by our son in Austin. Excellent Pizza and a wonderful wine selection. We will definitely be back and have already sent out a recommendation to our foodie friends. Add it to your list.

Yes, it is "just" pizza. But if you enjoy thoughtfully curated ingredients, made with care in a wood fired oven with some truly tasty appetizers and desserts thrown in and a wine list that pairs well, then this is your place. Waits can be longish (we waited 50 minutes on a busy Saturday night for a table for 4) but you buy a bottle of wine and sit outside and enjoy the "fresh" air of austin :-).

The food is great but the service is awful! I believe the guy was a manager but he cussed at me and turned me away all because he was "over whelmed" (his words not mine). He does not deserve my business or yours

I love this place! Such a cute little space, and although it's always pretty busy, if you are willing to sit at the bar, the wait time can be a lot shorter. All of the pizzas are delicious, especially the one with the sausage. They have a nice pour with their wines, which is always appreciated! Great music, great ambiance and great service.

What a waste of time and $$$. Wanted a nice outing with friends and conversation but that was not to be. The (dare I say) music was so loud people were yelling at each other across the tables. When I asked if it could be turned down a little, the waitress informed us that LOUD music was their thing. Well it certainly wasn’t good pizza. The pizza was soggy, limp and had no more flavor in the sauce than you would get from opening a can of Hunts sauce. While you could taste the wood fired crust, the dough was as soggy as the proverbial limp noodle. Only had one salad on the menu and it was rather good, but the experience was overwhelmed by the blah pizza and awful noise. Never will I return.

The restaurant was a block away from our hotel so we visited it the first night we were in Austin. It was busy - we had to wait 20 minutes for a table on a Sunday night. The restaurant has a large selection of wines and beers - but no soda pop. The pizza's are unique and different. Don't look for a run-of-the mill pizza here. We had the Fresca pizza which had proscuitto, fresh arugula, lemon and parmasan on top of a crust with a white cheese as the base sauce layer. Prices were expensive. Pizza was good. Be prepared to sit at a communal table with a bunch of strangers - but it's a nice way to meet others and get to know them.

Service was excellent but overall I was unimpressed. The wood-fire of the pizza was nice but it was on the dry side and the salads were under dressed.

Randomly came across this place on Google, not knowing where to go as it was our first time in this area. Went on a Saturday night about 10:30. Had the Margherita and Pepperoni, wood fired pizzas. Both pizzas were very delicious, yet slightly spendy. They had a small selection of craft beers, the ones we had were tasty. Interesting, non-finished, industrial sort of look to the place. The music was turned up way to loud for this size of space, couldn't hear each other talk. Really enjoyed the pizza, but the volume of the music was kind of a turn off.

I saw this place on the Food Network for best Margherita pizza (tomato, homemade mozzarella, bazil and parm). http://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/best-ever/best-pizza-ever-find-the-restaurants-featured-on-the-show.html (hosted by Ted Allen from “Chopped”) So my wife, son and I had one of those. It was delicious. We also had a Fresca pizza (prosciutto picante, arugula, meyer lemon, mozz and olive oil). It was also very tasty and fresh. Their pizza crust is like naan Indian bread light thin and perfect. In addition, we had their meat plate which we found satisfying. The mixed lettuces was tasty but really only meant for one person or maybe two people in skinny jeans. I took off one star because they do not take reservations and we waited over an hour to be seated. I recommend going early and having a drink from their bar while waiting outside. The décor is run down hole in the wall, so don’t look for atmosphere here, just great pizza. The local beer zilker wasn’t bad either. Note: If your looking for classic Italian pizza this isn't the place for you.

Simply the best pizza I've had in a very long time. Perfect crust, freshest ingredients and very cozy atmosphere. The wines are pricey by the glass but the pizza very reasonable. Wish they would add a good reasonable Italian Prosecco to their drink selection. Champagne and pizza is not as compatible!

For some seriously delicious pizza, get to Bufalina quick! A small bistro on the east side of Austin, Bufalina offers traditional wood-fired pizzas made with flour and in an oven both imported from Italy. When my family and I were there recently, we ordered three pizzas (for five) — the margherita, fresca, and napoletano (sausage, garlic, black olives) — and finished them all. The fresca, which comes with prosciutto, mozzarella, and olive oil and is topped with arugula and lemon juice, is particularly to die for, but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the pizzas. Bufalina has a nice selection of starters, including the amazingly simple but wonderful cerignola olives and fresh mozzarella. While the menu can change seasonally, if you see the chevre crostini with figs, almond, and caramel gastrique on the starters list, don’t pass it up or order it as a dessert. They also have a nice wine list. I’m not a beer drinker, so can’t really speak to the beer selection. Bufalina only serves dinner and the place can fill up quickly, so, if you don’t want to wait, the key is to get there early, about 15-20 minutes before the restaurant opens.
Good Pizza
The pizza is good but not for the wait... It can get pricey depends what your order... I had been there twice and not very satisfy... The pizza are small and the topping are kind of boring... The inly thing I can really recommend is their fresh mozzarella. The wine list is great.. Not too impress.
