Love thid Place ! The ambience here is so romantic, I would be happy bringing anyone here to introduce them to Korean food as there is a lack of it downtown. I'm accustomed to the Korean and Korean-Chinese foods in North Philly, and a problem I often have is the language barrier and not knowing what dish I'm getting in general. No problems here as the menu is explained! This restaurant has both comfort food options (rice cakes and kfc) and more famous dishes like their Galbi as well. It is a wonderful place for a special occasion meal right in old city.

Came here with two friends and ordered a bunch of stuff. We liked all their food. Nice presentation too! Will come back!

Having visited South Korea and loving Korean cuisine, felt like I was back in the Seoul area at this restaurant. Doesn't have an extensive menu, but doesn't need one either with the quality plated and presented. I wanted to hug the Chef, but opted to say 감사합니다 (thank you) for truly sharing his passion of food. I will most certainly be back...

We ordered on line through Caviar due to an impending rain storm. The food was nice but not exceptional, possibly due to take-out delays.

Good korean reataurant, the price is ok (around 15$), the quantity served is decent and the restaurant itself is clean and the staff is friendly

I love Korean food. And these people did it exactly the way we like it. Some purists may not totally love it, and that's fair but we thought it was delicious, inventive, and the service was impeccable. There was also the option to BYOB so we went across the street for a bottle of wine and had a great time. I personally recommend the prime rib bulgogi. Sweet and decadent, if you love meat then this is the dish for you. The rice paella bowls were HUGE and delicious. If you want a lot of bang for your buck, then this is the one for you. I guarantee you'll be taking home leftovers.

Can't say enough good things about Buk Chon. Great service, great food, great location. This has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Philly, no joke.

Stopped in last Saturday night on a visit to the area. We grabbed some drinks at Glory down the block and had a hankering for Korean. We arrived around 9.45p and was pretty surprised to hear that the kitchen would close at 10p (on a Saturday night)! Had the spicy pork Bibimbap (pictured) which was excellent. Not too spicy and a generous enough portion. Everyone with whom I interacted was super friendly - definitely a strength. Would strongly recommend this place for those looking for quality Korean fare but be careful to arrive on the early side!

These are not wings like I was expecting. They were huge and tasty and on top of the Korean tacos and the buns we had more than enough food for several meals. I will definitely be going back because there was so much more on the menu I wanted to try.

Amazing Korean food! If I'm in the area, I would eat here again. My tastebuds were excited and pleased with all the flavors. The seating is wooden/hard which is good to know if you have a sensitive tush.

We've been here a number of times and will certainly be back. Yes, is a tiny restaurant, And Yes it is charming when you walk to the rear and sees a pleasant seating area that exudes warmth and attention to detail in the surroundings which include a beautiful mural on the brick wall. The food is fresh, well done and the variety should be pleasing to diverse tastes. I enjoy the BiBimBop , Scallion Pancakes and the fried Chicken. Service has always been attentive and efficient and with a welcomed smile!

This meal was exceptional. Delicious, varied, well presented, and according to my boy who knows well the Korean cuisine, authentic. Service and atmosphere very good. At an unbelievely low price.

There was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and the service was excellent. The dishes were served promptly but not too quickly, and water was regularly topped up (they don't serve alcohol but you can take your own). The two of us shared a starter of Korean fried chicken followed by main course dishes of Rib Eye Bulgogi and Seafood Jap-Chae. Portions were generous. Every dish was excellent and very reasonably priced at $50 for everything.

I had their lunch special. It was filling enough and at under 10 bucks it was an OK value. The beef was tasty, but --- for one of the few times in my life in an Asian restaurant --- the rice was dry and chewy. If this is a Korean feature, well, ok, but it was not to my taste. The service was pleasant, and I may come back some time for dinner when everything is fresh. This was a slow day.

Had two appetizers: the Korean fried chicken and cucumber salad. You have a choice of two sauces, korean chili or mild soy for the chicken. I had the Korean chili which had just enough of a spice. The pairing with the cool cucumber salad (which tasted like a bowl of pickles) worked well for me.

Great restaurant, amazing food, amazing personnel! A friend of us is Korean and loved the food as well, so thats a very good sign! When back to Philly Im sure I will be back to enjoy Buk Cho’s food!

Asian fusion We visited because it’s near our B&B. The food was excellent. I had the green onion pizza and the fried chicken with honey sauce. My wife had something very spicy. Server was very efficient and pleasant.

Good food, very convenient to historic Philadelphia and to Ritz movie theaters.and quiet on week days at lunchtime. But please note bathroom is down steep stairs.

This is a good spot to have some very good Korean food. They do not serve their hot bowl bibimbop with a raw egg on top as I learned when I asked about it. They were willing to do it for me upon my request and it was very good, much better than with a fried egg topper.

We had a fantastic meal. Excellent spicy pork bowl. One of my coworkers had the stew which was delicious and another had the beef, which was amazing. The meals in the stone bowls come out extremely hot. Once they cool down enough to eat, the food was fantastic.

We stopped in this restaurant with no prior plans. We have been sightseeing and this was very convenient. The restaurant was slow in the early afternoon on Saturday. We had excellent service. The Decor is very nice with exposed brick walls. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the golbi which was excellent.

It's an interesting fusion menu here. The decor inside is cool. Justin is waiting on us, he's nice and attentive and quick. They are good about spacing people apart inside this narrow space. Their pear punch comes out of a can, the kind I buy at the Korean market. It has the pear sediment found in the cans. We heard him crack open a can for my drink. It tastes like the can too, super sweet and filled with high fructose sugars. Settled back to water. We started off with the chili rice gnocchi, the banchan sampler came with our Fire chicken with cheese and a chicken bibimbap with gochujang chili sauce. The radishes are a little too sweet for me. The kimchi is good and fresh. The corn, carrots and edamame is tasty. It has some sesame oil in there, with your love. The chili rice gnocchi is different, nice and cheesy. There's also Ramen noodles. It's nice and chewy and ewwey and tasty. It's good and spicy too. The fish cakes are soft and yummy. Just wrap the cheese around the spoon like a spool to get it into your mouth. The chicken bibimbap has a nice mix of veggies: bean sprouts, carrots, kale, edamame, pea pods, red peppers. The gochujang comes in a plastic ramekin. I asked for a side of sesame for my bibimbap. It's all good. The fire chicken with cheese had big saucy red spicy chicken in it. It's tasty. My favorite item was definitely the chili rice gnocchi was my jam here. Food was all tasty. You get a bottle of hand sanitizer to use with the bill.

With the large amount of choices in the Old City area you could probably eat somewhere different every day of the month and not duplicate any destination. Let me tell you that if you are not looking to experiment and want a good choice no matter the day, I highly recommend Buk Chon Korean Cuisine. From start to finish I had a fabulous and delicious meal with spectacular service in a nice family friendly atmosphere. The meal consisted of Korean Grape Punch, banchan, Korean boneless fried chicken covered with honey-soy sauce, seafood Jap-Chae, seafood pan seared crispy green onion pancake, spicy pork bowl, and galbi bourguignon. It was a great time and will return for sure.
Dinner
While walking around the old city area we were all looking for something we could all agree on eating. We all were able to find something on the menu we able to eat. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we each sampled each others dishes. We had as a table the bulgogi, fried kimchi rice, and bibimbap. All were amazing, and the waitress was very helpful and friendly. It is a BYOB restaurant.
