Worth the Wait

By Jademaid |

We went for lunch as this location was in walking distance from our hotel. There was a short wait because this was a very popular place. Everyone really enjoyed their burgers and the fries were crisp and delicious! I am sad that I didn't order any fries, but a coworker let me try some of his. I ordered the Show Bunz burger and was not disappointed! The flavors were amazing, but I did need a knife and fork to finish my meal. It was so delicious!

Good Bunz on these buns!

By Tim29650 |

This is a local joint with lots of flair and personality. The menu is mostly just burgers, so go hungry for burgers! They are fresh and juicy. They have fresh buns that are grilled just right and add a great deal to the overall burger experience.

Pricey but good...

By whileitravel |

Excellent burger with a price equal to waited table. Salad as a side was fine but the optional dressing left a lot to be desired. Friendly and fast service. Best burger in town.

Celebrating my son’s birthday.

We walked by and saw them making the buns fresh, from scratch early in the morning thru their window. We definitely came back to try them out and we were delighted with the taste. Fries were delicious, definitely a unique experience. We would definitely recommend and return!

A Late Night Sanck

By Hardrocker8888 |

I grabbed a late night burger here since it was right next to my hotel. Service was friendly. This was my first time here. The burger was good—just a bit messy.

The best burger in Riverwalk area

By luis_alergia |

I was looking for a handcrafted burger and found Bunz. It was a real traditional burger, with everything you expect in terms of quality.

So good

By Terri G |

Had a horrible day at sea world but we had dinner at this place downtown and it turned the day around. So good. Best burger I’ve had in a very long time. The staff was awesome as well

Best Handcrafted Burgers Ever

By FlyingEagle86 |

My wife and I saw the Bunz Handcrafted Burgers featured on television on a San Antonio show. The minute we finished watching this place we decided to visit this place on our next visit to San Antonio. The handcrafted burgers are amazing. The fries are awesome as well. There is a variety of burgers that are featured and all are made out of fresh ground beef. The restaurant also offers a vegan burger. The freshly brewed tea is incredible. If you are in San Antonio you need to come visit this place. You will not be disappointed. The customer service is great too.

OUTSTANDING BURGERS - DON'T MISS BUNZ!

By alaskan_red |

We decided to try Bunz, having heard good things about their burgers, and were not disappointed. The food is cooked to order and is carefully assembled before your order is called. The meat is of the highest quality and prepared and served with style. I would say this is the best burger I have had for many years, and the cost was far less than I expected.

Good. different, darlings.

By danielaronza |

The burgers, even if handmade, are not that different from others. They are still very good, and perhaps a little questionable or at least the combinations of the other ingredients or sauces, goat cheese... but it's a matter of taste. Neglected environment, unclear order board. prices not exactly adequate.

Fantastic burgers

By toya h |

These burgers are amazing! So flavorful and juicy. We will be back! You order, pay and are given a number. You get your drink and find a table and wait for your number to be called. When it’s called you get your food at the counter. We tried the Cheek and Mercedez burgers. We’d recommend either and want to try the other all the other options. They all sound so good.

Great Burger! You won’t be disappointed!

Delicious burger and fries. Casual dining, friendly helpful staff. If I lived here I’d be a regular customer. Lots of burger options and even a vegetarian version.

Great gourmet burgers in San Antonio

By Joaquim Meneleu |

Delicious gourmet burgers. We had the Bunzilla, Show Bunz and the Mercedes Bunz, all great choices. The place is clean, has good service and conveniently located at Houston with Soledad, just a few blocks from the River Walk. Worth the visit.

Great Burger; Awesome Fries

By Jim T |

We stopped in for dinner before a show at the nearby Majestic Theatre, and were not disappointed. Basically a fast food joint, with a good selection of drinks (bottled and fountain), wine and beer (in cans/bottles) and even a couple of beers on tap. The burgers (the one we all got was called the Z Bunz) were excellent--cooked to order (ours were medium well, their standard way of cooking) with freshly made bunz. The fries were like none other I've ever had--I would describe them as kind of like a puffy potato chip--they were light and tasty. All in all, I would go back in a heartbeat. Reasonable prices. Street parking, which may be difficult to obtain during some periods.

Very good burgers! Juicy

Very good burgers! Juicy and cooked just right! The fries are excellent but the best part is the bun on the burger.

Slow service with terrible excuses

By Josh |

Seeing the menu options while walking in was exciting, but that is about when the pleasant visit ended. The receipt for our order was printed at 5:05pm. It took 30 minutes after that to receive 2 burgers and 2 orders of fries. During that time, there were only 2 or 3 other parties in the restaurant. The kitchen seemed more focused on showing each other pictures on their phones than cooking the food. About 15 minutes or so after placing the order our 2 burgers were in the window awaiting fries. It was after that when a party of 2 came in for 2 orders of fries to go. Within 5 minutes, they had fresh fries and their order was bagged sending them on their way. When the fries were finally ready, the woman expediting had to move the burgers to another tray because it was so hot after spending 15 minutes under the lamp. The burgers and fries were delivered to the table at 5:35pm, 30 minutes after placing the order. When I asked why it took 30 minutes for 2 burgers and 2 orders of fries, I was told that they have a bun and meat shortage. This was a little confusing because the burgers had spent 15 minutes in the window and the fries were holding up the completion.

Really good burger and awesome fries

By kranzo |

Burgers were cooked to order and very good. The fries are not like any other fries I have had. Sort of a cross between steak fries and breakfast potatoes. I had the "summer" fries, which were served with chili and cheese. I would recommend.

Great burger, fantastic fries

By vmsolko |

My husband and I had the Show Burger and Cheek Burger - split them up so we could try each. They were delicious. We also had the bowl of fries. They're covered with goat cheese, parmesan, fresh crispy bacon, green onion, and sour cream. The fries are perfect for 2-3 people. They've even got a vegan burger on the menu if that's what you're looking for. The two of us ate for $30 total.

Wow, just wow

By IAmom |

I had the z bunz. It was a cheeseburger with all the trimmings. Oh my, the bread was toasted, crunchy and just plain delicious. The 1/2 # burger was thick, juicy and done to perfection. (Medium I asked for) the guy taking our order explained about the fresh ground meat combo, the made daily fresh buns and came around to ask what we thought since it was our first time. Nice service. We’ll be back later in the week before we leave.

Loving the Bread (Bun) and the Burger

By 2fromTX |

We ordered take out burgers and were pleasantly surprised at how well they held up in transport. According to the delivery times, it took about 15 minutes for them to arrive at our house on a cold night, and all of the food was still hot. The burgers were not soggy at all and the buns had a fresh feel and taste. I had the Merecedes burger and it had an excellent blend of flavors and tastes, was plenty big for one person, and the brioche bun was perfect. A great gourmet burger at a decent price. Consider splitting an order of fries for two people, there's plenty in an order ...and the burger will fill you up!

Excellent burger!

By Kelli G |

Absolutely phenomenal burgers and fries and the staff was very kind. At first, I thought it was a little pricey but it was absolutely worth every bit of it! Will be trying breakfast in the morning.

Expensive Burger Place

By Dallazman |

My wife and I were in the mood for a gourmet burger. We found this place off the internet. It looked appealing. We got two burgers, two fries and two drinks. This totaled $42.77 with tax and tip. The burgers were bland and the buns falling apart as you eat the burger. This was a very messy burger and the meat was tough. The place could have been cleaner. The tables and bathrooms needed attention.

Best Burgers ever

By Matthew S |

Great Burgers, Great staff, perfect quality and quantity after a long days. The big bowl of fries was fantastic for family options

Yummy Burger!

By Amit B |

Delicious burger, well made. I really liked their fries as well. Had a draft beer to go with it all. Great experience. Highly recommend.

Bunz Burgers and Beers

By timandtenisa |

I tried the Mercedes Bunz and wife had the vegan burger. Both came hot and juicy. My Mercedes was cooked perfectly and so loaded and juicy you had to eat it with two hands. The fries were great, and their recommendation of a local beer was on point. Staff was very friendly - the man who makes the bread stopped by and talked with us when he’d heard it was our first visit. No doubt we’ll be back next time we visit SA!

Best. Burger. Of my life.....and I'm a burger snob.

By Lacy A |

I am staying with my family at the Embassy Suites, Riverwalk and almost passed up on this little gem It looks like a nondescript burger place, but my children were starving after a 90 min walking Ghost Tour. This place was one of the few places open at 9 pm on a Thursday night. They served us the juiciest, most delicious burgers and we all agreed they were the best burgers we've ever had. I ordered the Bunzai burger topped with asian short ribs, chipotle mayo, bacon and asian slaw. It was AMAZING. The sweet brioche buns are baked fresh daily and really made this a top notch gourmet burger. My husband ordered the Mercedes with a poblano pepper, refried beans, chipotle mayo, pepper bacon and an egg. He agreed this place is SO GOOD! Don't miss this spot if you're in San Antonio!

Christmas Day in San Antonio

By Don T |

Not that good, thought the Burger was on the bland side. Took a half an hour after ordering. I was expecting a treat but it wasn’t

Very good burger

By Andy M |

Got a takeout from here on a weekday evening. Ordering was simple and efficient. I had the standard Z Bunz and fries. The burger was good. Hot, juicy and tasty. Just a tiny bit too salty for me but still nice. The fries were a little unusual. More like thick curls of potato (see the pictures) and very very salty. I could barely eat more than a few.

Awesome Burgers

By Patti |

Awesome burgers! Friendly staff. Great diner atmosphere. Order at counter and pickup your food. Best burger we had during our visit.

Burgers and Fries were ok - but nothing special

By CodyDC |

The burger was good, but the bottom bun was very hard while the top bun was soft. The burgers were greasy, so keep plenty of napkins handy. The fries were cut differently, but there were good.

Gross greasy burgers and dirty restaurant

By thart99 |

If you like extremely greasy burgers and a dirty restaurant this is your place. The floors are sticky, the tables are worse, the burgers are so greasy they are barely edible. Would not recommend this. Kids menu has two options. Grilled geese or nutella.....

Greasy but Tasty

By likey2travel |

Flavorful patties, if not a touch of too much salt. Definitely a bunch of grease, so make sure you have plenty of napkins. If you eat in, there are rolls of towels at each table. The order online feature was nice, but not necessary when we stopped by at 7:45p on Sat night. We ordered milkshakes and they kept them in the freezer until we arrived / a nice touch. Cowbunz double was well liked, but the jalepenos have a kick. The classic Z Bunz was a nice sandwich, with added bacon for a smoke flavor.

Best Burger Ever!

By Lee T |

This is the best burger I have ever eaten. The buns were fresh and the meat was cooked to perfection. The fries were simply delicious. The shakes, “out of this world”. Any travel to San Antonio will certainly include a trip to Bunz.

Best burger I’ve had in a long time!

By Bakercmh5 |

Definitely worth a stop. Great burgers for sure but if you like fried pickles, they are wonderful! Quick and friendly service.

Best burger I've had in a while

By Brian B |

I like burgers and I'm picky. This burger was good! The right amount of fat content. It's hard to do better than a homemade burger, but they did.

Awesome, fun and unique.

By sakasslers |

If you are looking for an out of the ordinary burger, then this is the place to go. Just tried out their new location across from UTSA on 1604 and the staff were friendly and quick. The food was out of this world. Hot, fresh and delicious. Thanks chef Thierry!

Great burger place!

By Susan S |

Stumbled on this place after walking back to our hotel. Local highly recommended and they were right. They make their buns in house. Meat was tender. Burgers and fries so fresh.

BEST Burger

By mitzitx |

The buns are fresh and the meat is delicious. It comes with their sauce, but could have used a bit less - QUITE juicy! My new favorite hamburger ever!

Good burgers, excellent fries!

By Romulas80 |

The burgers were fresh and juicy. Very unique combinations, which I am a fan of. I got the Bunzai and my wife got the Show Bunz. While I enjoyed mine a lot, my wife ended up peeling off her bottom bun because it was soaked and soggy from all the juices. I didn't take pictures of either burger, because the menu already has clear pictures of all their sandwiches. There is, however, a lack of information about what the Bombadier fries are. We ordered them and it was the best part of the meal. The fries themselves are a thin, flat fry with a bit of a curl to them. Then they are covered in goat cheese, parmesan, bacon, sour cream, chives, and cilantro. Just that alone is different than anything we have had before, but they also work really well. Unlike normal cheese fries, which have melted cheese all over the top layer with regular fries underneath, the goat cheese, parmesan, and sour cream all mix together and are creamy enough to coat nearly the whole basket. The burgers themselves are good and I would come back to try other varieties, but if I were judging it on a plain burger alone, it is not superior enough to make the trip downtown for. The fries, however, would be our main motivator for a return trip.
